Explain The Three Branches Of Texas Government
The three branches of government of Texas: Introduction This paper will discuss about the three
branches of government of Texas. The government of Texas has its operations under the constitution
of Texas (Maxwell, Crain, Santos, 2013). It consists of a unitary democratic state of government that
applies the Dillon Rule as the County and municipal levels. The branches of the Texas government
consist of the executive branch, which consist of the governor, Lieutenant governor and many others
in that docket. The governor heads the executive branch and many other leaders work under him/her.
The executive branch system limits the power of the governor, but does not do that to the secretary of
the state. Elections of the executive officials are elected independently and therefore they are
answerable to the public independently and not to the governor. In this kind of a branch of government
I would have changed the power that the governor has to appoint a committee that would solely rely
on the on the governors decisions (Child). Rather I would like that, that the committee members be ...

The house of representatives is consisted of around 150 members while the senate has a total number
of 31 members. The speaker of the house who is elected independently by the members of the house
heads the house. The legislature is a very powerful arm of the Texas government; it also has a very
strong constitutional connection with the Lieutenant Governor. If I were given a chance to change
something in this system of ruling, I would have changed the allowances that the legislators are given
for their mileage of 5 dollars to a value much higher because they have many things that they are
doing in the government. The indebtedness that the legislature receives of $200, 000 is excessively
low for the hard work of the legislators therefore I could change the amount they get and therefore
raise it

School Needs Assessment And Community Conversations
School needs assessment and community conversations This was definitely a much hard task to
complete than I had anticipated from the beginning. The thought by me was some research and I
should be able to find then necessary information. However, the simple fact that as a private school
system, we do not need to do a lot of these public school state mandated items. I looked for a long
while and was finally excited to find a school needs assessment for Wahlert. Two things jumped out at
me at as I started to read: 1. the name of the school was Wahlert and not Wahlert Catholic which
meant that it was older than 8 years. 2. It was for Wahlert and not Holy Family which meant it
predated 2001. The actual date was 1999 and was really no help since a lot of things have changed
since then. Further exploration led me to find the math, reading, and science testing data for our
system and for Wahlert. Along with that, I was able to find our demographic breakdown for the
schools in the system. The information was really basic as I compared it to the Dubuque Community
Schools on the same Iowa government website. This did allow me to compare the scores for math,
science, and reading between ourselves and the public schools. This was at least so form of
community conversation as our local paper published the data as well. Though, most of the time the
private schools will be slightly mention or mentioned on another day so as to not lead to comparisons
being drawn between the

Mount Pilot Research Paper
Burnt Area of Mount Pilot
The Burnt Area of Mount Pilot contains mixed stands of competing, seedlings with slower growing
Callitris seedlings and re sprouting Eucalyptus trees. There is few Callitris endlicheri, as the species is
fire sensitive and often destroyed by fire, particularly when in quick succession. Prior to the 2003 fire
the site was dominated by Callitris species of tree. The seedlings that emerged were mostly
Eucalyptus, with less dense Callitris seedlings proving that the growth of Callitris is not consistent
with long term site suitability. Surprisingly, more Eucalyptus seedlings died in the first six years of
regeneration that Callitris seedlings; competition in co existence does not determine survivability. The
major trend is that the growth of Eucalyptus seedlings is faster than that of Callitris seedlings. The
density of Eucalyptus seedlings is shown to effect Callitris seedlings growth which thrives where
Eucalyptus seedlings are sparser. Callitris may take 7 15 years to produce sufficient seeds (Cohn,
Lunt, Ross, Bradstock, 2011; I. Lunt, Jones, N., Petrow, M.,, 2003; I. Lunt, Price, J.,, 2016; Ian D

A Brief Note On The World Health Organization
The Definition Of Disability
The World Health Organization s (2011) report defined disability as being complex, dynamic and a
multidimensional highly debated problem that is part of the human condition. With aging, a disability
may become a part of elderly individual s daily lives. The WHO (2011) report described impairments
as an issue in body structure or function, limitation in activities as being restricted from getting
involved in life situations due to the disability. About 15% of the world s population will face
disability at some point of their lives. The report highlighted barriers faced by individuals with
disabilities when looking for health services, support and assistance, environmental accessibility,
education and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In India, the vast majority of individuals with disabilities are unemployed and have less access to
education than individuals without disabilities (Mishra and Gupta, 2006). Individuals with disabilities
encounter difficulties that require interventions to overcome as well as to remove social and
environmental barriers (World Health Organization, 2011). In addition, individuals with disabilities
are susceptible to secondary conditions such as depression, pain, injury, overweight and obesity
among other health problems (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Moreover, the
combination of disability and environmental factors contributes to create major barriers in accessing
rehabilitation services. Almost everyone who gets through old age experiences some level of increased
difficulties in functioning at some point in their life; therefore, disability is a human rights issue in
which appropriate accessibility would most certainly benefit us all (Campbell and Oliver, 1996;
Mishra and Gupta, 2006). Campbell and Oliver (1996) interviewed disability rights activists in
Europe, Asia, Southern Africa, North, Central and South America presenting a wider vision of the
individuals with disabilities life experience. The authors argued the existence of a disability movement
as always being present in history; however, with a different focus. Campbell and Oliver (1996)

They are increasingly aware that Social responsibility can be of direct economic value. Companies can
contribute to social and environmental objectives, through integrating Social responsibility as a
strategic investment into their core business strategy, management instruments and operations. This is
an investment, not a cost, much like quality management. So, business organizations can thereby have
an inclusive financial, commercial and social approach, leading to a long term strategy minimizing

Is The Theme Of Power In The Film Out Of Sight By Steven...
In the film Out of Sight (Steven Soderbergh, 1998) elements of mise en scene, lighting, editing and
characters reveal the themes of identity, love and power. The theme of power directly relates to the
economic boom in the United States in the 1990s and the population s strive for success. These themes
are brought out through the repetitive use of the color red in the film and are also used to relate back to
the title.
In relation to other American action films released in 1998, Out of Sight is a very fast faced movie
much like the rest of them. The fast paced editing style that Soderbergh utilized in the film relates very
much to the race to power that was so prevalent in the 1990s. When the economy started to boom, the

The first shot of this sequence is of Foley sitting in a chair at a desk with a red colored wall behind
him. Right away the color red is introduced on the wall as well as on the desk in pens, the top of a
yogurt, a potted plant and the wrapper of a power bar. After the man who was at the desk in front of
Foley leaves the room, Foley s eyes gaze upon the contents of the desk. The camera pans over the red
objects on the desk and then stops to rest upon the wrapper of the power bar. Half eaten and half
unwrapped, only the red words power are exposed. This is an exceptional shot because it reveals the
color red and reveals the word power , which illustrates the fact that the men in Ripley Enterprise have
power and Foley does not. In the next shot, the man at the desk enters the room once again holding a
suit and Foley turns away from looking at the power bar to blankly staring at the dull colored suit.
This suit represents what Foley could become; a regular guy with a regular job of being a security
guard but for him this isn t going to cut it. Foley is obsessed with the idea of being higher class than he
ever will be and this is reflected by the way he stared at the power on the wrapper; because power is
something he desperately wants. Foley has an identity in his mind that he is set out

Pros Of Bookkeeping
Why Should You Outsource Your Bookkeeping Matters to The Pros?
In the modern times, bookkeeping has become an increasing need for any and every business no
matter how big or small. There is a reason why many firms spend millions of dollars on a formidable
army of bookkeepers every year. A bookkeeper is one of the few people who can actually make your
business easier. It is no secret that any business faces a number of bookkeeping related problems
almost daily and dealing with these problems is both a mental and an emotional challenge. But still, a
large number of people choose to deal with their books themselves and end up getting in worse messes
every year until they finally realize that there is nothing left to salvage. However, even the worst
scenario can be prevented by investing in a professional bookkeeping service.

keeping you free from swindlers and deceivers. Your bookkeeper gives you more time. Imagine
working all day for your business and trying to work as a bookkeeper at night. It is a nightmare. Not
only will you be tired, you will suffer a loss of more than money. Your health will deteriorate and you
still won t get anywhere. A good bookkeeper keeps your schedule free to focus on the business matters
while taking care of your financial matters. A good bookkeeping service keeps you out of jail. Every
business gets an audit and you can be questioned in every little transaction. A bit of too much neglect
can have you declared as a tax thief and you can have legal action taken against you. This results in
heavy fines and even jails. So keep yourself out of jail and at ease by investing in a good bookkeeping

Pulau Ubin is only accessible via a 10 minutes bumboat ride from Changi Point Ferry Terminal. These
bumboats may dispose excess oil into the sea and with this inconsiderate act; it pollutes the marine
habitat as they are not able to retrieve sunlight to produce food as the layer of oil hinders them from
doing so.
3.2. Improper disposal of waste
With the increase of tourist activities in Pulau Ubin, improper disposal of waste has seen a rise.
Walking on the coastal boardwalk of Chek Jawa, items such as bottles and plastics bags were spotted.
It is an alarming issue of pollution as not only it is unsightly to tourists but it may be harmful to living
organisms as they could not produce food from the sunlight as these plastic pollutants impede their
food making process.
3.3. Carbon emission
Mode of transportation within the island is limited. Tourists either rent bicycles or rent a van for
touring purposes. As the island is abundant with natural habitats and living organisms, these carbon
emissions from the van is a source of pollutant.

On the Development of Quantum Computers and Cryptography
On the Development of Quantum Computers and Cryptography
In 2010, the United States government, after accessing encrypted files by means of physical
intervention, exposed ten Russian sleeper agents; in 2013, the United States government, without any
means of physical intervention, surreptitiously collected and promptly decrypted many previously
encrypted (Wood). Within this decade, concerns regarding the dubious security of contemporary
cryptography will begin to emerge as the secrets of quantum computing quickly unravel. Companies
that rely on Moore s law, which asserts that computing power doubles every eighteen months, to
justify using the theoretically weak cryptography scheme known as RSA will succumb to the risks

These individuals cite a three qubit impasse, which states that because quantum computers have not
become more complex than three qubits, they will not become more complex than three qubits. From
the start of serious research in 2001 up until recently, this argument had remained tenable. But, the
human endeavor to create technological advancements would not relent. This drive proved itself as
successful in 2012, when D Wave Systems, a quantum computing company founded in 1999,
announced that their work on a 512 qubit quantum computer had concluded. D Wave then went on to
state that they would computer would reveal the computer later that year, albeit with a limited range of
abilities. Since then, companies such as Google and the National Aeronautics and Space Association
(NASA) have begun to work in conjunction with D Wave to improve upon their prototype and apply
them to calculations to discover new potential. Nevertheless, dogmatic advocates for RSA hold the
proposition that their point still stands as these do not count as full fledged quantum computers. With
the progression of time, the development of quantum computers will do as it has already done once
and relegate the power of the three qubit impasse to a continually smaller role.
While RSA performs its final show, a new system débuts. Praised by some as unbreakable, they call
the method Quantum Key Distribution, (QKD) and in it lies

Duddy Kravitz Analysis
Throughout the novel, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, Duddy makes decisions that overall
define who he is as a person. These actions show that at times he is moral and his actions can be
considered to be good. Though what he does can be good, it can also be considered to be quite
immoral or bad.
First off some of Duddy s actions were very immoral and only did bad for others. Duddy shows
himself at times as an unsympathetic person that will do his best to take advantage of others while
avoiding any moral responsibility. Duddy is on a quest for land and will not let anything get in his
way. As a result of this he decides to give his friend Virgil a job as a truck driver for his company.

Duddy can be considered an underdog that is trying to achieve something that may just be handed to
others that are on a different playing field then him. In the novel he is just trying to even out the
playing field for himself. Though this does not account for everything Duddy has done, it does give
reasoning and justifiability to some of his actions. Duddy shows his concept of fairness when talking
to Calder, as Calder explains why he thinks Duddy s brother should be expelled. Duddy says to
Calder, Maybe he did. But he s a poor boy and he never met up with ladies and gentlemen before.

not get the same treatment as others got. For example the land Duddy ends up getting at the end of the
novel had to be purchased by Yvette. This was because of the fact Duddy is Jewish and relates back to
him being the underdog in the situation. Duddy thinks about what it would have been like if he was
born into a rich family. I m a failure. All I needed was to be born rich. All I needed was money in the
crip and I would have grown up such a fine, lovable guy (310). Duddy feels that his actions are
justified by the fact that he is on the lower end of the playing

Essay about The Stalinist Terror and Sofia Petrovna
In the book Sofia Petrovna, the author Lydia Chukovskaya writes about Sofia Petrovna and her
dreadful experiences as a widowed mother during the Russian Stalinist Terror of the 1930s. There
were four basic results of the Russian Stalinist Terror: first, it was a way of keeping people in order;
second, it kept Stalin in power and stopped revolutions from forming, made people work harder to
increase the output of the economy, and separated families as well as caused deaths of many innocent
people due to false charges.
Stalin used the media in order to convince the Russian citizens that there were saboteurs and spies

The media also expresses that the imprisonment of the spies is the right thing to do. Up with the
banner of Bolshevik vigilance, as we are taught by the genius of the leader of the peoples, comrade
Stalin! Let us root out all saboteurs, secret and open, and all those in sympathy with them (83) As
Sofia Petrovna reads the Timofeyev editorial, her boss, Timofeyev, is accusing Sofia for being a
saboteur because she had sympathy for Natasha being fired, another so called saboteur. Stalin and his
mass media propaganda persuade Timofeyev into taking part in the terror, resulting Timoteyev s belief
that what Stalin is doing is the best for the Russian country. The terror stopped revolutions from
forming because whatever groups Stalin didn t agree with he could simply arrest the members of that
group. In Timofeyev s editorial Sofia is siding with a Natasha, Natasha is thought to be a
revolutionary, because Natasha wasn t said to be loyal to the communist regime, and therefore Sofia is
accused of siding with a sabotager or revolutionary.
The terror also kept people working harder to increase the output of the economy. Movements such as
the Stakhanovite movement, squeezed greater efforts out of workers and those who fell behind usually
were accused of sabotaging. This benefited the Russian economy as they attempted to catch up to
Europe and America throughout the age of

The Role Of The Doctrine Of Precedent
The purpose of this essay focus on the important role of the doctrine of precedent in Australia legal
system. The doctrine of precedent, in a simple words, is the principle that binds the common law
together. As a general rule it means the courts were bound to follow the decisions of all courts superior
to it in its own court hierarchy. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part mentions a
background of the topic, the second part concentrates on analyzing the principle as well as the
advantages and disadvantages of the doctrine of precedent. Finally the conclusion sums up the
outcome of the research.
The doctrine of precedent, as mentioned, was settled in the nineteenth century. Before that, precedents

The diagram above show the Australia Court hierarchy. The diagram is also demonstrate how the
concept of Doctrine of Precedent applies.
A further question that arise is when the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Victoria
will depart from their previous decisions. First of all, the High Court of Australia will normally follow
its own earlier decisions and will depart from them if there is a strong reason to do so. In the case in
which the High Court did not follow its own previous decision, it said that: while stare decisis is a
sound policy because it promotes predictability of judicial decision and facilitates the giving of advice,
it should not always trump the need for desirable change in the law especially we would add if the
change is necessary to maintain a better connection with more fundamental doctrines and principle .
For example, in the case of Imbree v McNeilly (2008) 249 ALR 647 7, the decision of the previous
case named Cook v Cook (1986) 162 CLR 376 8 was no longer a good law to be follow therefore the
court decided to overruled this previous case.
Conversely, a court of appeal will normally follow its own previous decision and the situations that it
determines not to do so will be rare. For instant, the Victorian Court of Appeal only depart from its
own previous decision where it is convinced that the decision is clearly, or plainly, wrong 9. In the

Exploring America s Taboo With Death Through The Aghori People
Introduction:
Every culture has taboos, a cultural standard of shared values and appropriate practices. They can
cover behavior, clothing choice, food, sexual activity, even social perception. These cultural rules
ensure a cohesive environment where nobody feels uneasy about the actions of others. Yet, some
taboos get challenged through individuals rebelling or using the breaking of a taboo to establish
dominance, or another social group disregarding another cultures taboo even though it could lead to
social punishment. When it comes to the controversial topic of death, there are many hard lines ...

The body could be broken into different components that can exist together, such as the individual
body, the social body, and the body politic (Scheper Hughes). These body perspectives can be used to
try to understand America s ideas about death. America has a tendency to try to control every aspect of
their life and every function of their body, including death. They become reliant on and adherent to
cultural norms, and accustomed to societal assumptions and paranoias about birth, death, and health.
There is only one readily accessible and acknowledged medical system, the biomedical model, which
provides the society with a service necessary to prolong life (Scheper Hughes). This cultural model
can begin to shed light on Americas obsession with shunning death. Cultural constructions of death
becomes the backbone to what becomes taboo.

To start off, communication between the soldiers and their loved ones was closely being monitored

are treating them while in combat. Because of all the negative things he talked about in his letter
during his time at war the letter was never sent out. Back at home during this time, the countries were
trying to convince their men to sign up for the war and have the people at home help the war in any

Platt s methods of strong inference are post positivism. He asserts that counter productivity can occur
when a single theory is adhered to and attachment occurs. The single theory method lacks efficiency
and can be subject to confirmation bias. Strong inference is the method Platt encourages and proposes.
Alternate hypotheses are a foundational part of strong inference. When creating an important
experiment with the possibility of differing and alternative outcomes, each of which will, as nearly as
possible, exclude one or more of the hypotheses . Furthermore, Platt proposes to run the experiment to
get a clean result . Lastly, Recycling the procedure, making sub hypotheses or sequential hypotheses
to refine the possibilities that remain, and so on . This type of research leads to improved accuracy of
conclusions due to the nature of not depending on one hypothesis or the attachment to a single theory.
Resources are efficiently used due to the logical progression of strong inference and the rapid nature
conclusions. Platt states,
It is clear why this makes for rapid and powerful progress. For exploring the unknown, there is no
faster method; this is the minimum sequence of steps. Any conclusion that is not an exclusion is
insecure and must be rechecked. Any delay in recycling to the next set of hypotheses is only a delay.
Strong inference, and the logical tree it generates, are to inductive reasoning what the syllogism is to
deductive reasoning, in that it offers a regular method for reaching firm inductive conclusions one
after the other as rapidly as possible.
Molecular biology is one example used by Platt. Systematic method of inference is credited with
leading to a succession of pivotal experiments that caused the field of molecular biology to explode .
It seeks to guide future research by following a logical structure to further research and lays a
grounded foundation.

Reggae, a generic name for all Jamaican popular music since 1960, is defined as a West Indian style of

how he learned his music and how he became famous. On February 6, 1945 in Saint Ann, Jamaica,
Bob Marley was born. His father was a white Englishman and his mother was a black Jamaican. When
Marley was ten years old his father died, and at that point his mother moved him to Kingston s
Trechtown neighborhood. As a teenager in Kingston he became friends with Bunny Wailer and this is
when Marley learned to play music. When Marley was 14 years old he decided to drop out of school
so he could learn the welding trade, and at the same time he spent his spare time jamming with Bunny
and Ska musician Joe Higgs. In 1962 Bob had recorded his first two singles but neither one of them
had received any interest at the time. The following year he began a Ska band with his friend Bunny
and Peter Tosh, which was originally called The Teenagers . They then became known as The Wailing
Rudeboys and after a few more name changes they eventually came up with simply The Wailers. In
1964 they came out with their earliest Studio One hit which was recorded in the popular rock steady
style, Simmer Down. Following that track they came out with another hit in 1965 that was entitled
Soul Rebel in which both songs were written by Marley. In 1966 Marley married Rita Anderson, they

Enzymes in Industry
Enzymes in Industry
Enzymes are described as chemical a catalyst that is they speed up the rate of reaction.
Enzymes have enormous potential in the commercial world. They are cheap to use in industry and
they do not need high temperatures to work. They work at neutral PH and normal atmospheric
pressure. This reduces the costs of fuel in industry and are energy saving. Also, enzymes can be
reused. This means that they are needed in relatively small amounts in comparison with Inorganic
catalysts. Once a suitable enzyme has been found, it is made on a larger scale and purified before use.
Enzymes are specific in their action. They only react with one substrate to produce a specific product.

Brewing: Beer brewing essentially involves the production of alcohol by the action of yeasts on plant
materials such as barley, maize, sorghum, hops and rice. The yeast cells are capable of converting
simple sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide. However, most of the sugar present in plant materials
is in the form of complex polysaccharides such as starch and cannot be readily utilised. Traditionally
these nutrients are released by the process of malting whereby barley is allowed to partly germinate
during which endogenous enzymes are released which degrade starch and protein to simple sugars and
amino acids which can be utilised by the yeast cells. The malting process is a relatively expensive way
of manufacturing enzymes and is not always easy to control. Industrial enzymes such as amylases,
glucanases and proteases can be added to unmalted barley resulting in the same simple sugars and
amino acids that malting would liberate but in a more controlled fashion. Enzymes also play an
important role as filtration improvers. Slow filtration of the mash or final beer often results from the
presence of viscous polysaccharides. Amyloglucosidase can be used to break down sugars to produce
low calorie beer.
Detergents: Enzymes have been used in the detergent industry since

College Dropout Papers
College Dropouts throughout the U.S.
There are many reasons why over the years the United States has experienced a high college dropout
rate among college students. The dropout rate results in unqualified and poorly skilled workers who
eventually apply for low paying jobs and then realize the importance of a college degree. College
dropout rates throughout the U.S. are caused by several reasons, including, lack of finance, lack of
academic readiness, and stress. Many students have aspirations about attending the college of their
dreams, but many people lack financial support and are not able to go because of high tuition
payments, such as housing, and other college expenses. U.S. Student Loans Debt Statistics for 2017
indicate that the cost of attending college is becoming a growing burden for a huge portion of
Americans. (Student Loan Hero). Students are left with the option of dropping and leaving school.
Even after receiving some financial support, such as scholarships and grants, students have limited
amount of money to pay off their expenses. At the start of their college career, students apply for the
colleges they would like to go to, and many forget about the financial decision that is required to pay
for college. A 2010 study on more than 200,000 freshmen at four year colleges, more students rated
themselves as below average in emotional health than ever before. The financial stress of worrying
about their college loans and whether they ll find a job after college and the day to day stress of
making decisions for themselves in all aspects of their lives. (Allianz). Unfortunately, freshman
students are the main group of college students that go through financial conflicts, leading to stress
about how to pay for college. Some students choose to work their way through college. Others decide
they d rather be making money working full time than pursuing a costly degree. Still others become
discouraged at the prospect of incurring loan debt (College View). According to Public Agenda, Work
is the top reason young adults give for not returning to college once they leave. More than a third (36
percent) of those who left school say that even if they had a grant that fully paid for tuition

Sociological Perspectives
If a parent has a low socioeconomic status and a low level of educational attainment, will their child
likely have a low grade point average? Can a parent s involvement in their child s education and
school improve that student s grades? Does being a minority and a teacher affect a teacher s
experiences in the workplace? Questions like these are ones that sociologists attempt to answer by
means of multiple paradigms. The five major paradigms that sociologists utilize are symbolic
interactionism, exchange theory, structural functionalism, conflict theory, and feminist theory.
Symbolic interactionism looks at symbols within a society to understand how individuals interact with
one another. Exchange theory explains how people make decisions, through the premise that
individuals aim to risk the least and gain the most. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conflict theory is about how the groups which make up societies struggle because of scarcity and self
interest. Feminist theory is the concept that genders are not treated equally because societies are
generally centered around men. Through the lens of each of these perspectives, sociologists strive to
explain trends and norms that exist in society. Each of these theories is like a different pair of shoes for
sociologists to step into and view society from a new angle. These various potential viewpoints are
useful to both society and sociologists. Sociologists benefit from paradigms because they can study
society from a neutral standpoint that isn t limiting the way their own personal understanding could
be. When sociologists can find reason within society by using these theories, they can also figure out

Child Abuse In Goodnight Mr. Tom
Goodnight Mr Tom directed by Jack Gold explores the idea of a 10 year old boy named William who
has been sent to the countryside to be looked after by a man named Tom Oakley. The film presents the

Essay Intrusion Detection Systems
Intrusion Detection Systems
In 1980, James Anderson s paper, Computer Security Threat Monitoring and Surveillance, bore the
notion of intrusion detection. Through government funding and serious corporate interest allowed for
intrusion detection systems(IDS) to develope into their current state. So what exactly is IDS? An IDS
is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures. The IDS
watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that originate in the
system. When a potential attack is detected the IDS logs the information and sends an alert to the
console. How the alert is detected and handled at is dependent on the type of IDS in place. Through

With NIDS the system attempts to detect threats and attacks, such as denial of service attacks, port
scans and attempts to hack into computers by monitoring the network traffic in real time through a
promiscuous connection. It does so by first filtering out all known non malicious traffic and then
analyzing the remaining incoming packets for suspicious patterns that could be threats. It is not
however limited to just analyzing incoming packets, the system also analyzes the outgoing local
traffic, in case of an attack/threat that originates inside of the local network. Snort is an example of
this.
Host based intrusion detection systems unlike network intrusion detection systems, which focus on a
computing system s external interfaces, host based systems focus on the monitoring and examination
of the computing system s internals. Host based systems are more concerned with the changes in state
of a computing system. It detects these changes by analyzing system specific logs either in real time or
periodically. When there is any change in the logs the IDS will compare the current configuration of
the security policy to the changes and react accordingly. An example of this would be tripwire.
Protocol based intrusion detection systems (PIDS) monitor the dynamic behavior and state of the
protocol. In a typical setup there is a system or agent sitting at the front end of the server. This agent or
system monitors the communication protocol between the

The Pactice of Management
The practice of management is very ancient, however the formal study of management is
comparatively new. Management as a proper discipline developed after the tip of the nineteenth
century. Nevertheless it should be admitted that management has been in existence since humankind
became systematized into formal groups. It is very difficult to come up with a definition of
management which could totally satisfy all professionals or skilled people or all management
theorists. For a broad operating definition consider management as an activity that performs certain
functions to obtain the effective acquisition, allocation, and utilization of human efforts and physical
resources to accomplish some goal (Wren 2005, p. 3). Modern management has grown with the
growth of social economics and scientific institution. Nowadays workers do not work only for money.
They work for satisfaction and happiness with sensible living style. These are the most vital issues
now. Modern management explanation (of why something works or happens the way it does) refers to
highlighting the use of well thought out mathematical ways of doing things within the system with
analyzing and understanding the inter relationship of management and staff. Organizational efficiency
and service quality can be increased through the implication of management theories. Today managers
simply do not use a singular theory, infect they use a series of theories depending on the workplace,
purpose and workforce. Still, few

Linear Analysis Lab Report
This experiment was performed to understand the process of linear least squared analysis as well as
developing the skills to use EXCEL and having the criteria for the best line of fit to ones graphs.
Linear least squared analysis is a statistical method to determine a line of best fit by minimizing the
sum of squares created by a mathematical function. A square is determined by squaring the distance
between a data point and the regression line. For the 1st order kinetics graph, the y axis was for the
sum of ln(A). The straight line equation came out to be y= 0.0224x 0.546 while the regression line
was at a 0.99564 which was very good. For the 2nd order kinetics graph, the y axis was for the sum of
1/A. The straight line equation came out to be y=0.0575x+1.6104 while the regression line was at a
0.97327 which was also quite good. Each data set had 9 degrees of freedom. The F value for the first
graph was 2057.16 and the 2nd graph was 327.67. Introduction: We used a set of data using least
squares procedures and decided from the evidence whether the 1st or 2nd order kinetics was a better
suited match to describe the data. Paying attention to data analysis and plots for these graphs were the
most challenging. The data involves a pair of measurements of an independent variable x and a
dependent variable y. In this case, our independent variable was Time(minutes) and the dependent
variable was Abs(ODU). We preformed linear least squared analyses using EXCEL in order to

Original Sin Theory Essay
Autobiographical Psychosocial History Weston Carpenter Mrs. Owen 5/1/17 Child Development
Growing up mischievous kids are very common to say the least. No one taught them to be like this it
was as if it was just in their nature. Its been discovered that there are 3 philosophical views on child
development. They are Original Sin, Tubula Rasa, and Innate goodness. The original sin theory states
that all children are born with the desire to sin due to Adam and Eve s sin in the Garden of Eden. So
this is saying that since our ancestors sinned its just in our nature to sin. Innate Goodness states that
every human being is born being naturally good and they seek to find experiences which can help
them grow or prosper. This theory really disagrees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theory I most agree with is the original sin, which states that all children are born with the desire
to sin. My reason for this is not only because of my religious views which plays a huge part in my
beliefs, but because of things I ve witnessed in my life. After studying the original sin it truly made
sense to me why kids are taught to do good things, but they do bad things such as steal or cry for
attention on their own because it is just in their nature. Theories of personality Growing up my whole
life people have bragged on my personality. I have always thought of myself as a likeable guy, but as
we learned in class there isn t anybody that is liked by everyone. While I have a good sense of humor
and personality I have grown to know people with dry personality s that were more laid back and not
as friendly. When I think of someone the first thing that comes to my mind is his or her personality.

Summary Of A Separate Peace By John Knowles
In the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles, many things are shown about friendship. It shows us
how friendship is not always easy and how jealousy, competition and irrational thinking can disrupt a
seemingly strong and secure friendship. On the surface of Gene and Finny s friendship, it seemed that
they were the best of friends and that they did not have any problems. But, all of this changed with
time as most things do. Gene explains, we were best friends at that moment (page
18). This foreshadows how their seemingly extraordinary friendship is going to change. A common
feeling Gene has towards Finny is jealousy. Finny is an athletic, charismatic, and smooth boy who
seems to be able to get out of just about any situation he is put in. ... Show more content on

Along with Gene s newfound thinking, he also begins to act differently. After the accident, Gene
isolates himself. Gene explains, I spent as much time as I could alone in our room, trying to empty my
mind of every thought, to forget where I was, even who I was (page 62).
This quote represents the change in Gene s behavior. Before he was always out with his group of
friends, and now he isolates and tries to forget himself. In friendship, communication of these
thoughts are necessary. But, at Devon this form of communication is frowned upon. For example,
Gene says, exposing a sincere emotion nakedly like that at the Devon School was the next thing to
suicide (page
48). Gene is explaining how expressing emotions is not something that happens at
Devon. Suppression of this much emotion leads to built up feelings later causing Gene to express
these feelings in unpredictable ways later causing Phineas to fall off the tree. A Separate Peace shows
a lot about friendship. Throughout the novel, the reflection of friendship is commonly displayed. It
shows that friendship is not easy. It also shows how jealousy, competition, irrational thinking can twist

A Child Called It is a one hundred and fifty three page long autobiography by Dave Pelzer depicting
his childhood. This story is horrific, terrifying and as described, plainly child abuse. In this story, Dave
is but a young boy in a terrible home setting surrounded by his two brothers (Ronald and Stan), a
supportive father (Stephen) and a very wicked mother (Catherine). During this story, David is abuse
by his mother in so many times for the most petty of reasons with horrifying consequences. Some
were that he forgot to clean the bathroom other times it was stealing food from his classroom because
his mother refused to feed him. His mother was an extremely neglectful alcoholic who came to see her
son as an it and very much enjoyed playing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well as showing that people who might abuse their children don t necessarily start off as abusers.
On that note, I appreciated that after the epilogue there were numbers and plenty of resources for the
prevention of child abuse. I feel this is important because after a person reads this book they might
realize they themselves are being abused and are given tools to help stop it. One thing I didn t enjoy
about this novel was that it has a complete abrupt ending and the epilogue was more short and bitter
than sweet. This book is highly relative no matter the year. If you take a look at news stations or the
usual TV media outlets, you can see people being arrested over child abuse. This is a continuous
problem that is never really resolved but is hopefully decreasing as people become more aware of the
underlying signs and become willing to step in to help a stranger if needed. This book is great for all
ages but I would specifically recommend it for grades 6th 12th due to some of the more depicted
violent scenes. It is important for them to realize child abuse isn t just talked about, it actually
happens. As minors and mainly younger children, they are usually afraid to speak up as like Davie,
they feel that nothing will change or they will just be beaten worse. The children need to know it is
okay for them to tell someone and that they

Body Modification in America Essay
Body modification in American Culture
In recent years tattooing and body piercing have become increasingly prevalent in popular culture.
These forms of body modification are no longer tools used by criminals and gang member, showing
their role in society. These practices are used by many of teenagers and young adults in our society
today. In fact many of these practices have been a positive trend in American culture, giving
adolescents a way of expressing themselves
Studies have revealed a positive correlation between risky behaviors (such as the use of drugs,
cigarettes, and alcohol) and participation in body modification. There is a shortage of available
research, however, investigating the relationship between body modification and ... Show more

Results suggested different levels of high risk behavior.
There are many reasons for individuals to acquire body modifications. One possible reason for body
modifications is to gain attention through displays of extravagance such as those that are found in
people with histrionic disorder (Durand amp; Barlow, 2000). A study by Burger amp; Finkel (2002)
investigated reasons why people adorn their bodies with tattoos and body piercing. They also
researched unmodified participants perceptions of body art. When the researchers polled participant
group as to their perceptions of body modifications, they found that many people associate tattoos and
body piercing with risky behaviors and view them as symbols of drug abuse and violence (Burger
amp; Finkel, 2002). They found that a main motivation for people to modify their bodies is to increase
self esteem. The people polled found body art as beautiful and felt more beautiful when they acquired
it. A study conducted at Denison University by Lyons and Snyder (1996) described the reasons why
college men and women had tattoos and body piercing. The main reason cited by the men with body
modifications for getting tattooed or pierced was to identify themselves with a certain group. Women,
however, rated their tattoos and piercing to make themselves more individualized or sexually
appealing. Other popular reasons for displaying body modifications are to carry on cultural traditions
and to increase

43617760. There Are Many Ways That Groups Of People Allocate
43617760 There are many ways that groups of people allocate goods. The most common way to do
this in modern culture is through a market. Markets, as Carruthers and Babb describe it in chapter 1,
are the particular supply and demand of any given good or service that are exchanged for a value of
money with certain given information. As Wright and Best describe in chapter 3, this way of
organizing an economy allows for an effective way to step up an economy. Additionally, it gives the
maximum freedom to buy and sell as one pleases. Such markets can take place in any number of
forms and are influenced by society s expectations, religious practices, politics, our relationships with
those around us, and many other ways. As was noted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether through their spending policies, taxing policies or lack there of, or days that are considered
holidays the state has great influence. These can sometimes can be seen as a harmful set of actions, but
as Bandelj and Sowers point out in chapter one these acts by the state have a real importance to how
the economy works. The state as noted above takes an important role in managing things that are not
natural. Without the government to regulate these things we not be able to sustain these now vital and
constructive institutions. This state interference in the market, good or bad, has a profound effect on
parts that ripple into the whole of the market. This relationship in the market is on grand scale, but the
social institutional relationship does not always have to be.
The relationships that we have with particular people also greatly affect how we interact with the
market. Particularly in regards to cultural and societal expectations. When someone goes to college
they are expected to get a MacBook for school from their family as a parting gift. When someone gets
a big promotion they buy a new car or sometimes even a new house to show as a visible
announcement that they have improved their life. Society expects, as one improves their status, to
improve their possessions and interact with the market in more significant ways. Sometimes though
we can be influenced to

My Strongest Process Piece
The Express and Reflect essay is my strongest process piece. This essay was about me coming out and
how it affected me. The first draft was terrible, but after I revised my paper I improved a lot and
learned from my mistakes. My introduction is amazing and really catches the reader s attention. For
example, The night I met her I knew she was special. I instantly fell in love with her. She had long,
wavy, brown hair that made her skin glow. My eyes met her bright, shiny, emerald green eyes, which
left me speechless. The beginning of that paragraph describes the person perfectly. The reader has an
idea of what the essay is going to be about just from reading the first couple of sentences. This is my
strongest piece because I expressed myself in the essay. The reader got to learn information about me
that many people don t know. I also reflected how coming out affected my life and relationship with
loved ones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this essay I wrote about a car accident I witnessed this past summer. I still have some comma
issues. For instance, The man lost all control of the car, it was in the right lane and it shot all the way
across to the left lane. I am missing a comma after lane and before and. I did inform the reader about
what I had witnessed and explained the accident to the reader clearly. However, I could do more
showing than telling. I could of added imagery in my essay. Also, in the essay I did not clarify who the
lady in the convertible was yelling at. I said, She looked very angry and was yelling at him, pushing
him, and slapping him. The reader could be confused because they don t know who this man is. The
woman was yelling and hitting the man driving. It s not my weakest piece, but I could improve this
essay so it could be

Primary Elements Of Human Development Index
Human Development Index
According to Anderson (2014), Human Development Index (HDI) is the most efficient single matrix
for the welfare and progress of an economy. The approach measures the country s value and well
being in three dimensions namely, education/knowledge, life expectancy (healthy and long life), and a
decent living standard (determined by the GDP per capita). Apparently, the first two elements of
Human Development Index (education and health) focuses on precise societal goals, but the gross
domestic product variables remain a significance proxy for national well being. The method has been
in use by most of the agencies like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since 1990
for their human development report (Anderson, 2014). Again, HDI is used by the European Nations to
compare different nations and regions.
Better Life Index
The index enhances the comparison of the national welfare across nations, deriving its basis from
elven vital aspects which determines and shape the human s lives and well being. The primary
elements include education, housing, jobs, income, health, environment, civic engagement among
others. Nevertheless, each facet gets its evaluation based on four statistical determinants that are
assigned equal weights; for instance, education/knowledge score is based equally on attained levels of
education and standard reading skills. The ratings for each facet can be combined into a monetised
overall value, but the default thing is to

Simple Distillation And Fractional Distillation
Distillation is the process of separating components from a liquid mixture by selective evaporation
and condensation, utilizing the different volatility of each substance (Wikipedia, Distillation, 2015). It
can result in complete separation or partial separation (which increases the concentration of selected
components) (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). The two types that were examined in this lab was
simple distillation and fractional distillation. Raoult s Law also plays an important factor in
distillation. It states that the partial vapor pressure of each component of an ideal mixture of liquids is
equal to the vapor pressure of the pure component multiplied by its mole fraction in the mixture
(Perrot, 1994).
Simple distillation is where the vapor is immediately channeled into the condenser, which results in a
distillate that is not pure but its composition is identical to the vapors at the given temperature and
pressure (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). It s effective when liquids have boiling point
differences of at least twenty five degrees Celsius (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). As it heats,
the vapors being formed will be richest in the substance that boils at the lowest temperature and
eventually as the most volatile mixture is distilled out, it will no longer be a pure compound being
distilled (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). The temperature will increase until the boiling point of
the next substance is approached, which will result in a

Lake Bellville Essay
The family lived on Lake Bellville in a wood framed house. The slope that led to the lake was not
steep enough to ride a toboggan over the snow. According to the family legend, the house became
warm only in July and August.
Their wood stove heated one room in the two story house. Therefore, three boys slept in the same bed.
As their mother taught them the alphabet, she pointed out that when they slept, they formed an E,
which stood for exemplary trouble.
When the war began in 41, the oldest boy left for the Navy. He was 16 when Pearl Harbor occurred.
He told his father, If you don t sign for me, I ll steal a rowboat and row across the Pacific to fight.
It was late on Christmas Eve in 43 when the oldest returned to his home town. He was on leave
recovering from second and third degree burns on his arms. With the ship on fire, a shipmate and he
pulled another from the flames. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He blamed the public school. If they hadn t taught me to count, I wouldn t have burned myself.
He arrived home on Christmas morning at 12:15. The sleeves of his uniform hid his bandaged arms.
Standing in the bedroom door, he listened to the snoring of his brothers, and in the dim light he saw
that they formed the letter F.
Waking them, he learned that the rest of the family attended Mid Night Mass. Because the family car
was too small to transport all the family, the two boys remained home. They went to the kitchen, made
coffee, and waited.
It was too soon to tell stories about the Philippines, the slow death from thirst, or the butchery of
women. He told about Zeroes, and how three torpedoes missed his ship. When the family car entered
the drive, he paused telling his stories.
Turning off the lights, the three of them waited silently. The oldest sat at the far end with one brother
sitting on his left and the other on his right. When their mother turned on the kitchen lights, she beheld

‘the First World War Started More by Accident Than by...
‘The First World War started more by accident than by design . Discuss.
To some extent it is correct to state that the First World War started more by accident than by design.
However, it can be argued that many nations within Europe had planned for war and some even
pushed for war. Despite this, those nations never wished for a full scale ‘World War . They were
hoping for a war on a much smaller scale, for example, the earlier Balkan wars of 1912 and 1913. In
this essay I will discuss both sides of the argument; an accidental war and the planned war. I will then
conclude the essay with which side of the argument I believe holds the strongest position.
There are many different angles to be looked at on the origins of the First World ... Show more content

Britain did not have a war strategy like France, Germany, Russia and Austria Hungary. Britain
certainly did not desire war and was only keen to protect her vast overseas empire. Britain only joined
the war after it broke out and campaigned to its people that it was coming to the aid of Belgium,
making it a moral war.
The neutral kingdom of Belgium could never plan for war. Its troops were grounded in defence of
Antwerp when the Germans invaded.
Serbia had a very straightforward war plan. They would increase their army divisions upon the
declaration of war and would strike against Austria Hungary when they knew what Austria s plans
were.
It is obvious that many countries had rigid war plans that were to be used for a possible and perhaps
inevitable war. This goes some way to show that the First World War was in fact more of a design
rather than just an accident.
Accidental war?
However, the causes of the First World War are complex and include many factors. The war did not
just happen due to the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand or because of these war plans. The origins
of the war can be traced back to the problems of the last four decades leading up to 1914 and the
changes in Europe since 1870.
One particular factor was the unifications of Germany and Italy as single nations. Nationalism had
spread through Europe during the 1860 s and 70 s. It was

Analysis Of Chris Opening Monologue For The Oscar
Transcript of Chris Opening Monologue for the Oscars mainly conveys the unnecessity of boycotting
the Oscars in a humorous way. He uses exclamation marks and question marks to make the audiences
involved in the speech. He asserts them to question people who boycott racism. Moreover, he answers
his own questions like; Is it Fetch me some lemonade racist? No! It creates Ethos in the audiences.
Moreover, Rock also tries to find the real problem in Oscar. He says we want the black actors to get
the same opportunity as white actors. He searches for the real problem, this makes his speech logical
and creates Logos in audiences. Other than searching for a solution, he also declares that this is not
something which people should react too much. For him, it is not logical to ... Show more content on

mad and black directly targets African Americans who boycott Oscar. At the same time, he causes
white people to feel uncomfortable since white people who get prize may think that they did not
deserve it. Rock also makes funny statements like Me boycotting Rihanna s panties. He says that
people will not able to change the current situation. Furthermore, he avoids making people nervous
because of the unpleasant and problematic topic. This is the reason why he uses satiric sentences.
Also, he shows racism problem as something easy to solve with the help of the humor. For example,
he says Like best black friend after discussing having a black category like a women category. Rock

  • 2. Explain The Three Branches Of Texas Government The three branches of government of Texas: Introduction This paper will discuss about the three branches of government of Texas. The government of Texas has its operations under the constitution of Texas (Maxwell, Crain, Santos, 2013). It consists of a unitary democratic state of government that applies the Dillon Rule as the County and municipal levels. The branches of the Texas government consist of the executive branch, which consist of the governor, Lieutenant governor and many others in that docket. The governor heads the executive branch and many other leaders work under him/her. The executive branch system limits the power of the governor, but does not do that to the secretary of the state. Elections of the executive officials are elected independently and therefore they are answerable to the public independently and not to the governor. In this kind of a branch of government I would have changed the power that the governor has to appoint a committee that would solely rely on the on the governors decisions (Child). Rather I would like that, that the committee members be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I were given a chance to change something in this system of ruling, I would have changed the allowances that the legislators are given for their mileage of 5 dollars to a value much higher because they have many things that they are doing in the government. The indebtedness that the legislature receives of $200, 000 is excessively low for the hard work of the legislators therefore I could change the amount they get and therefore raise it ... • 3. School Needs Assessment And Community Conversations School needs assessment and community conversations This was definitely a much hard task to complete than I had anticipated from the beginning. The thought by me was some research and I should be able to find then necessary information. However, the simple fact that as a private school system, we do not need to do a lot of these public school state mandated items. I looked for a long while and was finally excited to find a school needs assessment for Wahlert. Two things jumped out at me at as I started to read: 1. the name of the school was Wahlert and not Wahlert Catholic which meant that it was older than 8 years. 2. It was for Wahlert and not Holy Family which meant it predated 2001. The actual date was 1999 and was really no help since a lot of things have changed since then. Further exploration led me to find the math, reading, and science testing data for our system and for Wahlert. Along with that, I was able to find our demographic breakdown for the schools in the system. The information was really basic as I compared it to the Dubuque Community Schools on the same Iowa government website. This did allow me to compare the scores for math, science, and reading between ourselves and the public schools. This was at least so form of community conversation as our local paper published the data as well. Though, most of the time the private schools will be slightly mention or mentioned on another day so as to not lead to comparisons being drawn between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mount Pilot Research Paper Burnt Area of Mount Pilot The Burnt Area of Mount Pilot contains mixed stands of competing, seedlings with slower growing Callitris seedlings and re sprouting Eucalyptus trees. There is few Callitris endlicheri, as the species is fire sensitive and often destroyed by fire, particularly when in quick succession. Prior to the 2003 fire the site was dominated by Callitris species of tree. The seedlings that emerged were mostly Eucalyptus, with less dense Callitris seedlings proving that the growth of Callitris is not consistent with long term site suitability. Surprisingly, more Eucalyptus seedlings died in the first six years of regeneration that Callitris seedlings; competition in co existence does not determine survivability. The major trend is that the growth of Eucalyptus seedlings is faster than that of Callitris seedlings. The density of Eucalyptus seedlings is shown to effect Callitris seedlings growth which thrives where Eucalyptus seedlings are sparser. Callitris may take 7 15 years to produce sufficient seeds (Cohn, Lunt, Ross, Bradstock, 2011; I. Lunt, Jones, N., Petrow, M.,, 2003; I. A Brief Note On The World Health Organization The Definition Of Disability The World Health Organization s (2011) report defined disability as being complex, dynamic and a multidimensional highly debated problem that is part of the human condition. With aging, a disability may become a part of elderly individual s daily lives. The WHO (2011) report described impairments as an issue in body structure or function, limitation in activities as being restricted from getting involved in life situations due to the disability. In India, the vast majority of individuals with disabilities are unemployed and have less access to education than individuals without disabilities (Mishra and Gupta, 2006). Individuals with disabilities encounter difficulties that require interventions to overcome as well as to remove social and environmental barriers (World Health Organization, 2011). In addition, individuals with disabilities are susceptible to secondary conditions such as depression, pain, injury, overweight and obesity among other health problems (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Moreover, the combination of disability and environmental factors contributes to create major barriers in accessing rehabilitation services. Almost everyone who gets through old age experiences some level of increased difficulties in functioning at some point in their life; therefore, disability is a human rights issue in which appropriate accessibility would most certainly benefit us all (Campbell and Oliver, 1996; Mishra and Gupta, 2006). Campbell and Oliver (1996) interviewed disability rights activists in Europe, Asia, Southern Africa, North, Central and South America presenting a wider vision of the individuals with disabilities life experience. • 7. Is The Theme Of Power In The Film Out Of Sight By Steven... In the film Out of Sight (Steven Soderbergh, 1998) elements of mise en scene, lighting, editing and characters reveal the themes of identity, love and power. The theme of power directly relates to the economic boom in the United States in the 1990s and the population s strive for success. These themes are brought out through the repetitive use of the color red in the film and are also used to relate back to the title. In relation to other American action films released in 1998, Out of Sight is a very fast faced movie much like the rest of them. The fast paced editing style that Soderbergh utilized in the film relates very much to the race to power that was so prevalent in the 1990s. The camera pans over the red objects on the desk and then stops to rest upon the wrapper of the power bar. Half eaten and half unwrapped, only the red words power are exposed. From the start of serious research in 2001 up until recently, this argument had remained tenable. But, the human endeavor to create technological advancements would not relent. This drive proved itself as successful in 2012, when D Wave Systems, a quantum computing company founded in 1999, announced that their work on a 512 qubit quantum computer had concluded. D Wave then went on to state that they would computer would reveal the computer later that year, albeit with a limited range of abilities. Nevertheless, dogmatic advocates for RSA hold the proposition that their point still stands as these do not count as full fledged quantum computers. With the progression of time, the development of quantum computers will do as it has already done once and relegate the power of the three qubit impasse to a continually smaller role. First of all, the High Court of Australia will normally follow its own earlier decisions and will depart from them if there is a strong reason to do so. In the case in which the High Court did not follow its own previous decision, it said that: while stare decisis is a sound policy because it promotes predictability of judicial decision and facilitates the giving of advice, it should not always trump the need for desirable change in the law especially we would add if the change is necessary to maintain a better connection with more fundamental doctrines and principle . • 20. Describe Platt s Methods Of Strong Inference Case Study Questions and Responses 1) Describe Platt s methods of strong inference. How does this method guide research programmes in terms of accuracy of conclusions, efficiency of resources and utility of planning for future research? Platt s methods of strong inference are post positivism. He asserts that counter productivity can occur when a single theory is adhered to and attachment occurs. The single theory method lacks efficiency and can be subject to confirmation bias. Strong inference is the method Platt encourages and proposes. Alternate hypotheses are a foundational part of strong inference. When creating an important experiment with the possibility of differing and alternative outcomes, each of which will, as nearly as possible, exclude one or more of the hypotheses . Furthermore, Platt proposes to run the experiment to get a clean result . Lastly, Recycling the procedure, making sub hypotheses or sequential hypotheses to refine the possibilities that remain, and so on . This type of research leads to improved accuracy of conclusions due to the nature of not depending on one hypothesis or the attachment to a single theory. Resources are efficiently used due to the logical progression of strong inference and the rapid nature conclusions. Platt states, It is clear why this makes for rapid and powerful progress. When Marley was 14 years old he decided to drop out of school so he could learn the welding trade, and at the same time he spent his spare time jamming with Bunny and Ska musician Joe Higgs. In 1962 Bob had recorded his first two singles but neither one of them had received any interest at the time. The following year he began a Ska band with his friend Bunny and Peter Tosh, which was originally called The Teenagers . Brewing: Beer brewing essentially involves the production of alcohol by the action of yeasts on plant materials such as barley, maize, sorghum, hops and rice. The yeast cells are capable of converting simple sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide. However, most of the sugar present in plant materials is in the form of complex polysaccharides such as starch and cannot be readily utilised. Traditionally these nutrients are released by the process of malting whereby barley is allowed to partly germinate during which endogenous enzymes are released which degrade starch and protein to simple sugars and amino acids which can be utilised by the yeast cells. The malting process is a relatively expensive way of manufacturing enzymes and is not always easy to control. Industrial enzymes such as amylases, glucanases and proteases can be added to unmalted barley resulting in the same simple sugars and amino acids that malting would liberate but in a more controlled fashion. Enzymes also play an important role as filtration improvers. Slow filtration of the mash or final beer often results from the presence of viscous polysaccharides. College dropout rates throughout the U.S. are caused by several reasons, including, lack of finance, lack of academic readiness, and stress. The five major paradigms that sociologists utilize are symbolic interactionism, exchange theory, structural functionalism, conflict theory, and feminist theory. Through government funding and serious corporate interest allowed for intrusion detection systems(IDS) to develope into their current state. So what exactly is IDS? An IDS is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures. The IDS watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that originate in the system. When a potential attack is detected the IDS logs the information and sends an alert to the console. How the alert is detected and handled at is dependent on the type of IDS in place. With NIDS the system attempts to detect threats and attacks, such as denial of service attacks, port scans and attempts to hack into computers by monitoring the network traffic in real time through a promiscuous connection. It does so by first filtering out all known non malicious traffic and then analyzing the remaining incoming packets for suspicious patterns that could be threats. It is not however limited to just analyzing incoming packets, the system also analyzes the outgoing local traffic, in case of an attack/threat that originates inside of the local network. Snort is an example of this. Host based intrusion detection systems unlike network intrusion detection systems, which focus on a computing system s external interfaces, host based systems focus on the monitoring and examination of the computing system s internals. Host based systems are more concerned with the changes in state of a computing system. It detects these changes by analyzing system specific logs either in real time or periodically. When there is any change in the logs the IDS will compare the current configuration of the security policy to the changes and react accordingly. An example of this would be tripwire. Linear Analysis Lab Report This experiment was performed to understand the process of linear least squared analysis as well as developing the skills to use EXCEL and having the criteria for the best line of fit to ones graphs. Linear least squared analysis is a statistical method to determine a line of best fit by minimizing the sum of squares created by a mathematical function. A square is determined by squaring the distance between a data point and the regression line. For the 1st order kinetics graph, the y axis was for the sum of ln(A). The straight line equation came out to be y= 0.0224x 0.546 while the regression line was at a 0.99564 which was very good. For the 2nd order kinetics graph, the y axis was for the sum of 1/A. The straight line equation came out to be y=0.0575x+1.6104 while the regression line was at a 0.97327 which was also quite good. Each data set had 9 degrees of freedom. The F value for the first graph was 2057.16 and the 2nd graph was 327.67. Introduction: We used a set of data using least squares procedures and decided from the evidence whether the 1st or 2nd order kinetics was a better suited match to describe the data. Gene explains, we were best friends at that moment (page 18). This foreshadows how their seemingly extraordinary friendship is going to change. A common feeling Gene has towards Finny is jealousy. This quote represents the change in Gene s behavior. Before he was always out with his group of friends, and now he isolates and tries to forget himself. In friendship, communication of these thoughts are necessary. But, at Devon this form of communication is frowned upon. Results suggested different levels of high risk behavior. There are many reasons for individuals to acquire body modifications. One possible reason for body modifications is to gain attention through displays of extravagance such as those that are found in people with histrionic disorder (Durand amp; Barlow, 2000). A study by Burger amp; Finkel (2002) investigated reasons why people adorn their bodies with tattoos and body piercing. They also researched unmodified participants perceptions of body art. When the researchers polled participant group as to their perceptions of body modifications, they found that many people associate tattoos and body piercing with risky behaviors and view them as symbols of drug abuse and violence (Burger amp; Finkel, 2002). They found that a main motivation for people to modify their bodies is to increase self esteem. The people polled found body art as beautiful and felt more beautiful when they acquired it. A study conducted at Denison University by Lyons and Snyder (1996) described the reasons why college men and women had tattoos and body piercing. The main reason cited by the men with body modifications for getting tattooed or pierced was to identify themselves with a certain group. Women, however, rated their tattoos and piercing to make themselves more individualized or sexually appealing. Other popular reasons for displaying body modifications are to carry on cultural traditions and to increase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. 43617760. There Are Many Ways That Groups Of People Allocate 43617760 There are many ways that groups of people allocate goods. The most common way to do this in modern culture is through a market. Markets, as Carruthers and Babb describe it in chapter 1, are the particular supply and demand of any given good or service that are exchanged for a value of money with certain given information. As Wright and Best describe in chapter 3, this way of organizing an economy allows for an effective way to step up an economy. Additionally, it gives the maximum freedom to buy and sell as one pleases. Such markets can take place in any number of forms and are influenced by society s expectations, religious practices, politics, our relationships with those around us, and many other ways. As was noted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether through their spending policies, taxing policies or lack there of, or days that are considered holidays the state has great influence. These can sometimes can be seen as a harmful set of actions, but as Bandelj and Sowers point out in chapter one these acts by the state have a real importance to how the economy works. The state as noted above takes an important role in managing things that are not natural. Without the government to regulate these things we not be able to sustain these now vital and constructive institutions. This state interference in the market, good or bad, has a profound effect on parts that ripple into the whole of the market. This relationship in the market is on grand scale, but the social institutional relationship does not always have to be. The relationships that we have with particular people also greatly affect how we interact with the market. Particularly in regards to cultural and societal expectations. When someone goes to college they are expected to get a MacBook for school from their family as a parting gift. When someone gets a big promotion they buy a new car or sometimes even a new house to show as a visible announcement that they have improved their life. Society expects, as one improves their status, to improve their possessions and interact with the market in more significant ways. Sometimes though we can be influenced to ... • 45. My Strongest Process Piece The Express and Reflect essay is my strongest process piece. This essay was about me coming out and how it affected me. The first draft was terrible, but after I revised my paper I improved a lot and learned from my mistakes. My introduction is amazing and really catches the reader s attention. For example, The night I met her I knew she was special. I instantly fell in love with her. She had long, wavy, brown hair that made her skin glow. My eyes met her bright, shiny, emerald green eyes, which left me speechless. The beginning of that paragraph describes the person perfectly. The reader has an idea of what the essay is going to be about just from reading the first couple of sentences. This is my strongest piece because I expressed myself in the essay. The reader got to learn information about me that many people don t know. I also reflected how coming out affected my life and relationship with loved ones. ... I did inform the reader about what I had witnessed and explained the accident to the reader clearly. However, I could do more showing than telling. I could of added imagery in my essay. Also, in the essay I did not clarify who the lady in the convertible was yelling at. I said, She looked very angry and was yelling at him, pushing him, and slapping him. The reader could be confused because they don t know who this man is. The woman was yelling and hitting the man driving. It s not my weakest piece, but I could improve this essay so it could be ... • 46. Primary Elements Of Human Development Index Human Development Index According to Anderson (2014), Human Development Index (HDI) is the most efficient single matrix for the welfare and progress of an economy. The approach measures the country s value and well being in three dimensions namely, education/knowledge, life expectancy (healthy and long life), and a decent living standard (determined by the GDP per capita). Apparently, the first two elements of Human Development Index (education and health) focuses on precise societal goals, but the gross domestic product variables remain a significance proxy for national well being. The method has been in use by most of the agencies like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since 1990 for their human development report (Anderson, 2014). Again, HDI is used by the European Nations to compare different nations and regions. Better Life Index The index enhances the comparison of the national welfare across nations, deriving its basis from elven vital aspects which determines and shape the human s lives and well being. The primary elements include education, housing, jobs, income, health, environment, civic engagement among others. Nevertheless, each facet gets its evaluation based on four statistical determinants that are assigned equal weights; for instance, education/knowledge score is based equally on attained levels of education and standard reading skills. The ratings for each facet can be combined into a monetised overall value, but the default thing is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Simple Distillation And Fractional Distillation Distillation is the process of separating components from a liquid mixture by selective evaporation and condensation, utilizing the different volatility of each substance (Wikipedia, Distillation, 2015). It can result in complete separation or partial separation (which increases the concentration of selected components) (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). The two types that were examined in this lab was simple distillation and fractional distillation. Raoult s Law also plays an important factor in distillation. It states that the partial vapor pressure of each component of an ideal mixture of liquids is equal to the vapor pressure of the pure component multiplied by its mole fraction in the mixture (Perrot, 1994). Simple distillation is where the vapor is immediately channeled into the condenser, which results in a distillate that is not pure but its composition is identical to the vapors at the given temperature and pressure (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). It s effective when liquids have boiling point differences of at least twenty five degrees Celsius (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). As it heats, the vapors being formed will be richest in the substance that boils at the lowest temperature and eventually as the most volatile mixture is distilled out, it will no longer be a pure compound being distilled (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). The temperature will increase until the boiling point of the next substance is approached, which will result in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the family legend, the house became warm only in July and August. Their wood stove heated one room in the two story house. Therefore, three boys slept in the same bed. As their mother taught them the alphabet, she pointed out that when they slept, they formed an E, which stood for exemplary trouble. When the war began in 41, the oldest boy left for the Navy. He was 16 when Pearl Harbor occurred. He told his father, If you don t sign for me, I ll steal a rowboat and row across the Pacific to fight. • 49. ‘the First World War Started More by Accident Than by... ‘The First World War started more by accident than by design . Discuss. To some extent it is correct to state that the First World War started more by accident than by design. However, it can be argued that many nations within Europe had planned for war and some even pushed for war. Despite this, those nations never wished for a full scale ‘World War . They were hoping for a war on a much smaller scale, for example, the earlier Balkan wars of 1912 and 1913. In this essay I will discuss both sides of the argument; an accidental war and the planned war. I will then conclude the essay with which side of the argument I believe holds the strongest position. There are many different angles to be looked at on the origins of the First World ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Britain did not have a war strategy like France, Germany, Russia and Austria Hungary. Britain certainly did not desire war and was only keen to protect her vast overseas empire. Britain only joined the war after it broke out and campaigned to its people that it was coming to the aid of Belgium, making it a moral war. The neutral kingdom of Belgium could never plan for war. Its troops were grounded in defence of Antwerp when the Germans invaded. Serbia had a very straightforward war plan. They would increase their army divisions upon the declaration of war and would strike against Austria Hungary when they knew what Austria s plans were. It is obvious that many countries had rigid war plans that were to be used for a possible and perhaps inevitable war. This goes some way to show that the First World War was in fact more of a design rather than just an accident. Accidental war? However, the causes of the First World War are complex and include many factors. The war did not just happen due to the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand or because of these war plans. The origins of the war can be traced back to the problems of the last four decades leading up to 1914 and the changes in Europe since 1870. One particular factor was the unifications of Germany and Italy as single nations. Nationalism had spread through Europe during the 1860 s and 70 s. It was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
