Is there truly any justice in the novel The Stranger,...
Is there truly any justice in the novel The Stranger, written by Albert
Camus?
Is there truly any justice in the novel The Stranger, written by
Albert Camus? This is a question that naturally protrudes throughout the novel, as it is not abundantly
clear what Meursault, the protagonist, was, in fact, put on trial for. At the beginning of the second part
of the narrative, it is understood that he is put on trial for the murder of an Arab; however, it later
comes to our attention that the murder was not the primary reason of his trial, and perhaps not even an
essential one for that matter. The fact remains that
Meursault was undoubtedly put on trial, not for the murder committed, but for being the way he was:
unemotional through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The answer is simple: it does not relate to the murder of the
Arab. Being the representative of society, the jury opposes Meursault and accuses him of not
conforming to society s natural ways, and being what we nowadays refer to as the odd one out . They
exclude him from society for his odd clear cut and sincere demeanor, and for his manifestation of an
inexpressive character.
Another example is the moment in which the magistrate, a local member of the judiciary having
limited jurisdiction, especially in criminal cases, questioned Meursault. In this particular scene, the
magistrate changes the topic rather abruptly from his love for Maman, to which he responded he loved
the same as anyone (p. 67), to the murder scene.
What followed was a vast discussion on Meursault s belief in God, which he felt rather apathetic
about; however, the magistrate, waving a crucifix to his face refers to him as the antichrist (p. 71). And
later, during the trial, the judge and the prosecuting attorney seem more intrigued by the fact that
Meursault did not grieve at his mother s funeral and got involved with Marie the day after it, than the
actual act that had been committed: the assassination of a man.
The majority of the witnesses that had been called only supported the argument of his callous nature,
as they very well knew that Meursault was frighteningly candid, and could not, or would not, create a

Shakespeare s King Lear And The Great Gatsby
Personal gratification is commonplace in society, but the force to overcome it is not. In both
Shakespeare s King Lear, and Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, man s natural psychological id is
displayed by key characters, who are all morally corrupt. King Lear has 2 distinct sides who represent
the id and superego, battling over justice in a kingdom centered around a weathered king. In The Great
Gatsby, a commonplace working man by the name of Nick Carraway surrounds himself with friends
who indulge themselves in luxury, influenced by the psychological id embedded deep within
everyone. When observing family dynamics, both King Lear and The Great Gatsby reveal family
interactions are driven primarily by the id, which is further supported when considering the presence
of oedipal dynamics in both novels. In terms of narrative events, The Great Gatsby s events are
heavily influenced by the id, with little to no superego expressed. In contrast, while the bulk of King
Lear s storyline is similarly driven by the id, the superego plays a larger role in resisting the id s
unlawful desires, and this is exemplified through the triumph of the superego at the story s end. The
Great Gatsby depicts how life is hopelessly overridden by human s natural id while King Lear
demonstrates how even the smallest source of superego can combat the aggressive nature of the id
present in life.
In both King Lear and The Great Gatsby, the id is influential in most family interactions. For instance,

by the HR office, yet there is a distinction between the expression duty and exercises. Even however

Leadership And Effective Leadership For Learning
Schools must meet the challenges of a changing educational climate and effective leadership is crucial
in helping to guide the whole school community through the potentially treacherous waters of change.
This assignment will delve into the complexity of leadership and will emphasize that whilst leaders
can attempt to create conditions to help schools improve, they are not solely responsible for the
outcome of the education process. Fullan (2001) posits that effective school leadership has the ability
to manage educational change by building strong relationships and establishing a moral purpose.
Therefore, the school leader has the orchestral role of subtly creating the conditions necessary for
pupils and staff to thrive. This assignment will focus primarily on three of the preconditions for
effective Leadership for Learning, mentioned with the assignment title: the role of shared leadership,
explicit conversations and the creation of settings, mindsets, and strategies conducive to learning. The
writer feels, that effective leaders can transform the idea of mutual accountability into moral
accountability . Therefore this section can be interwoven within each of these three strands of
Leadership for Learning mentioned; in a sense mutual or moral accountability could be interpreted as
a by product of effective leadership.
Shared leadership.
Build structures and cultures that invite and sustain participation in leadership, encourages all

Clinical Nurse Specialist And Nurse Practitioner Role...
Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Practitioner Role Delineation
Sarah Carr
University of Regina
Abstract
Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are both considered advanced
practice nurses (APNs) in Canada (Donald et al., 2010). Although these roles have existed in Canada
for decades (Canadian Nurses Association, 2008), confusion still remains about the titles and exact
roles that these professionals play (Donald et al., 2010). This paper will use the Saskatchewan Nursing
Advanced Practice model as a framework to highlight the similarities and differences between both
types of advanced practice nurse. The scope of practice, registration, education, practice settings, and
effectiveness of CNSs and NPs will be examined. Although their roles overlap, CNSs and NPs have
both been shown to be important members of the health care team (DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010).
Research has shown that adding CNSs and NPs to our health care system can increase patient
satisfaction, decrease wait times, and decrease readmissions (DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010).
Increased public and health care professional awareness is needed to have these roles fully
incorporated into our current health care system (DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010).
Clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) are both critical members of the health
care team. However, there is often confusion about the titles and roles of

Market Segmentation In Canada
(B) We used a combination of three market segmentation variables using two different approaches. We
chose these variables because we feel that they are the best choices for differentiating between market
segments. The first thing we did was use the Geographic approach to limit our scope. Using the
Regional variable to divide Canada into provinces, we decided to limit our market to that of
Newfoundland and Labrador; as a new start up, it makes sense to begin small with a familiar market
with the potential for growth. Then, using Market Density, we determined that since almost 40% of
Newfoundland and Labrador s population lives in St. John s (196,965 out of 514,540), we would limit
our market to that of the Avalon Peninsula, with potential for ... Show more content on

Girl With Prayer Summary
Explication of poem: Girl With Prayer
The poem Girl With Prayer by Ruben Quesada illustrates a person that is in deep grief or perhaps
traumatized by the accident which the speaker has witnessed when the narrator was a kid. As well, the
speaker has vivid memories from the accident that currently is distressing the speaker. For instance,
the speaker says; the same dream comes (2), which indicates the speaker or narrator is going through a
hard time, perhaps when the speaker is sleeping and dreaming, the scenario of accident takes place as
a memory and nightmare, which is affecting the speaker mentally and psychologically. As result, the
narrator feels exhausted. Thus, the person narrating the poem feels trapped by girl s accident which
disturbs the personal life of the narrator and recalling the accident appears to lead the speaker to feel
exhausted.
The author does provide a title to his poem; Girl With Prayer which involves religion and the girl is
associated with it. After a runaway car has hit the girl, the girl s body is physically damaged; Her face
bruised/arms blasted to bone (12 13). Therefore, the girl s body injured seems to trigger the speaker to
fall on exhaustion (1). Besides, the speaker happens to be at the scene where the accident took place
since the speaker s mother carried the girl, lay or put down the girl on the edge of the sidewalk. The
narrator states then my mother helps her off the street/to the curb (13 14), where the girl finally passes
away. The narrator lets the reader know the girl dies when; ...again, everything is silent (14) the
silence implies something much worse has happened after the girl has been put aside. Afterwards, the
narrator states slowly the Lord s Prayer ruptures her split lips (15), suggesting that the mother prayed
for the deceased girl on the sidewalk. However, the focus is on the child that now seems to be a young
adult that it is having personal issues. As when the speaker mentions, when I fall...from exhaustion
(1), and the same dream comes (2), illustrates the speaker is going through tough time and having
flashbacks from the girl s accident, when the speaker is sleeping and dreaming. The accident has
become a nightmare because the speaker

Defending Paid Parental Leave
In the spirit of debate I speak to the following representatives/senators of the concept bill C addresses.
Should parents be forced to suffer financially and mentally because they gave birth to a baby? They
should not and I am in affirmation of this bill because it protects families from financial stress and has
health benefits to the mothers and their children.
Paid maternity leave protects families from financial stress and bombardment. Per the Washington
Post in the article Defending Paid Parental leave on September 2, 2009, One of the side effects of the
bad economy is that good ideas that sound expensive begin getting ignored. Take paid parental leave.
Making sure that parents can afford to take time off to have a baby is a good idea on a number of
fronts. It protects families from the choice of financial calamity or time with a newborn. ... Show more

Not only does us make us in the minority of something but it is also illogical. Paid maternity leave
offers a chance for mothers of newborns to take care of their children yet still stay financially stable.
This is especially important when a husband is not available as financial support. 80.6% of mothers
are currently single. If women are having children and their partner absconds then that leaves many
women vulnerable to the ghastly teeth of the economy. The cost of baby for one year is about $36,750
if the mother must find someone to care for the baby. This is due to her job she must keep up to
provide income. On the other hand, if the mother can stay home with the baby then it only costs about
$4,194. This immensely lessens the amount. Therefore, this could all be avoided if paid maternity
leave was provided. Mothers wouldn t have to worry about where the money comes

Cleopatra First Women Of Power Essay
Cleopatra, past Queen of Egypt, was born 69 BC and died 30 BC in Alexandria, Egypt. In the
documentary Cleopatra: First Woman of Power was not as beautiful as others had described her to be.
On the other hand, in William Shakespeare s play Antony and Cleopatra, Enobarbus compares her to
the goddess Venus. Both of these resources have much information on Cleopatra, but the documentary
has a more realistic description. The documentary also gives extra information about Cleopatra that
William Shakespeare s play does not provide.
The documentary Cleopatra: First Women of Power indicates Cleopatra s true characteristics and

Cleopatra had the ability to become a powerful ruler, both Julius Caesar and Antony distracted
Cleopatra from her being the Queen of her people. Also, Antony and Caesar were married when they

ended her own life by what was believed to be a snake. It is thought that Cleopatra s intention was to
be an influential leader, but her attempt at a love life is what got in her way. Shakespeare s Antony and
Cleopatra conveys this prompt the best, while still adding dramatic turns with Cleopatra s over
exaggerated personality. The documentary Cleopatra: First Woman of Power describes Cleopatra s
strength and determination even with the many struggles she has faced. Both of these plots provide a
variety of perspectives on Cleopatra, but it is the truth that uncovers a person s true

Part 1 1. What are common carriers, local exchange carriers, and interexchange carriers? A common
carrier is a private company that sells or leases communication services and facilities to the public.
Common carriers are profit oriented, and their primary products are services for voice and data
transmissions, both over traditional wired circuits as well as cellular services. Common carriers often
supply a broad range of computer based services, such as the manufacturing and marketing of
specialized communication hardware and software. A common carrier that provides local telephone
services (e.g., BellSouth) is commonly called a local exchange carrier (LEC), while one that provides
long distance services (e.g., MCI) is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, dedicated circuits require more care in network design than switched circuits both in terms
of locations and the amount of capacity you purchase. With packet switched services, the user again
buys a connection into the common carrier cloud. The user pays a fixed fee for the connection into the
network depending upon the type and capacity of the service and is charged for the number of packets
transmitted. 13. Distinguish among T1, T2, T3, and T4 circuits. T1 circuit is sometimes called a DS 1
circuit. It provides a data rate of 1.544 Mbps. T1 circuits can be used to transmit data, but often are
used to transmit both data and voice. In this case, a time division multiplexer (TDM) provides 24 64
Kbps circuits. Digitized voice using pulse code modulation (PCM) requires a 64 Kbps circuit so T1
circuit enables 24 simultaneous voice channels. T2 circuit transmits data at a rate of 6.312 Mbps.
Basically; it is a multiplexed bundle of four T1 circuits. T3 circuits allow transmission at a rate of
44.376 Mbps, although most articles refer to this rate as 45 megabits per second. This is equal to the
capacity of 28 T1 circuits. T3 circuits are becoming popular as the transmission medium for corporate
MANs and WANs because of their higher data rates. At low speed, these T3 circuits can be used as
672 different 64 Kbps channels or voice channels. A T4 circuit transmits at

The Effects Of School Violence On Today s Youth
Abstract
This research investigates definitions of school violence in general and as a subset of youth violence
in particular and investigates and the core environmental factors and the individual student risk factors
found to contribute to school violence. The research also includes investigation into the effects of
school violence on today s youth in general and the negative outcomes of school violence including
poor physical health, poor mental health, poor academic achievement, and a decreased sense of
safety/well being in particular. The research concludes with an exploration of some of the prevention
and intervention strategies proven to be effective in reducing violence in other countries from a school
based bullying/victimization intervention program implemented in Norwegian schools, to a South
African social development curriculum to cognitive behavioral training programs to community and
school based media campaigns developed for teaching social skills around anger management,
impulse control, and empathy that need to be implemented in American schools to keep our children
safe.
From physical, mental and sexual abuse to theft and vandalism to murder, violent acts in American
schools continue to be a growing problem. In a 2011 survey of high school aged youth, 12 percent
reported being in a physical fight on school property in a 12 month period (NCIPC, 2012). Between

On the website Expat Info Desk, an article titled Living in Mexico: A Guide to Moving to Mexico as

currency, that allows middle class Americans to enjoy a high standard of living with lower prices for
basic necessities such as grocery items (Living in Mexico). The drastic difference between a US
Dollar and a Mexican Peso allow young families to adapt to the lifestyle in Mexico easily with only a
small amount of saved up money. Another factor that families focus on when moving is what city to

far more expensive than other towns and cities, for the most part housing in Mexico is relatively
cheap, in comparison making moderately sized properties the same amount as a small clustered

Americans who never get to enjoy luxury time to themselves, or work all day throughout the week to

Kingsman The Secret Service Analysis
I ve always been drawn towards philosophical issues. For example, is civilization a part of nature?
Well, one answer may come from a recent film that has unsettled me in this topic. In Kingsman: The
Secret Service, the character Valentine calls humans a virus and the Earth the host. He concludes that
the host kills the virus, or the virus kills the host. I disagree with Valentine, and here is why. When
most people hear the word nature, they do not think of a thriving metropolitan city. But I do. This is
because I think of civilized cities as ecosystems just as rainforests or the Coral Reefs are thought of.
Think of it this way: Buildings are like trees; they provide shelter and shade. Sewers are like aquifers;
they transport water for everyone.

Lactate Dehydrogenase Lab Report
Isoenzymes of Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH)
Part A: Separating Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) isoenzymes from tissue homogenates using

Introduction
Isoenzymes of Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) in plasma are used to indicate whether a person has
suffered a recent heart attack or is suspected to have liver disease. LDH is found in both plants and
animals, it is an enzyme that catalyses the conversion of pyruvate and lactate. Pyruvate is the final
product of glycolysis, in glycolysis energy in the form of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is produced
from glucose. Isoenzymes are variant forms of the same enzyme that occur within an individual, the

cellulose acetate card. In figure 1, the isoenzymes in the samples moved towards the anode or stayed
in the area where the initial sample was applied, indicating that some isoenzymes had no net charge
and others had an overall negative charge.
The plasma sample had a mildly visible band in MH3; the muscle sample had visible bands in all
sections with M4 being the most prominent; the heart sample had visible bands in all sections with H4
and MH3 being the most prominent, each band becoming less noticeable towards M4; the liver sample
had a very prominent band in M4 with a barely visible band in M3H.

The Problem Of Climate Change
There are millions of planets that has the possibility to sustain life on a planet, but not a single one we
know of like earth. fermi paradox says there are things called life barriers and there are certain barriers
that have filters . filters only let the smartest lifeforms through them if they are real. They state
electricity and earth or ourselves evolution are huge barriers that was destroyed. If an asteroid hit the
earth or nuclear warfare happens it is a huge reason we have lost. According to the fermi paradox we
either pass this wall (barrier) or not. I have my conclusion of why we will fail, it is because humans
are selfish, hard headed, fool mined incompetent beings. Climate change is the barrier that we don t
really have any research on. El ninos and la ninas are the cause. To know El Niño, you need to know
the intercoarse between the ocean and the atmosphere. Warm ocean surface water currents heats and
adds moistness to the air above it, forming a low pressure system. Cool surface water cools the air
above it, forming a high pressure system . In a Low, the warm, moist air produces tropical
thunderstorms. In a High, cool, parched air sinks back to the surface and there is no precipitation.
Together, the High and Low create a circulation pattern in which surface winds blow toward the Low
and higher level winds rushes toward the High. An El nino come from the spanish word little boy. It
was found by fisherman by the coast of south america in the 1600s

I don t know who I am or how long I ve been here. I m in a small room with metal walls, ceiling, and

Fuck you! I said just before watching the blood splatter against the wall. I filled the house with

The Nervous Systems ( Cns ) And The Peripheral Nervous System
The nervous system is the part of the human body in charge of coordinating the reception of external
stimuli and the response the body gives to them. It is equipped with sense organs called receptors,
which are in charge of transforming the stimuli s energy into nerve impulses [1]. To emit an external
response, the nervous system uses effectors that can be either muscles or glands.
We can divide the nervous system into two separate systems: the central nervous system (CNS) and
the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS consists of the brain and the spinal cord and is
protected by the cranium and the vertebral column, respectively. The PNS is in charge of connecting
the CNS with the receptors and the effectors. To transfer the information from one part of the body to
another, a specialized type of cells called neurons is used.
Neurons are in charge of a communicative function. They perform two different types of activities.
The first one consists in helping the conduction of a signal from one part of the cell to another. The
second activity they perform is synaptic transmission, which means communication between adjacent
cells.
Figure 1.1 Neuron structure. Source: http://webspace.ship.edu
Neurons are composed of a cell body called soma, dendrites and axon. There is a single axon while
there are multiple dendrites per each neuron. Dendrites are used to conduct the received signals to cell
body. The axon conducts nerve impulses to other neurons or muscle cells. It is

While Presenting May Be A Literal Objectification Of Slaves
While Presenting may be a literal objectification of slaves in Walker s work, this overarching concept
can also be seen in her works Untitled and Gone. In Untitled, the young woman is depicted as naked, a
common practice from slavery. During the practice, slaves were often forced to stand nude and be
inspected by potential masters, as if part of a crude, human dog show. The woman in this picture
seems vulnerable in a similar fashion, forced to stand in an apparently submissive state to the fully
clothed men and women beside her in order to have her work be considered at all by this high art
world. Gone s brutal caricatures particularly focus on this slave master objectification, primarily with
slaves serving as objects of sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Steer phrases it, the aim [of Brecht s pieces] is to promote an attitude of regional activism, an
ability to see things could be other than they are (Steer 639).
Brecht accomplishes a desire for activism by alienating the audience from his characters, or by trying
to free socially conditioned phenomena from that stamp of familiarity which protects them against our
grasp (Brecht 192). The hero is more a creation of a social and political atmosphere than a living
breathing character, and is therefore viewed as an object, something inhuman. Walker s caricatures
follow this structure, ranging from the slave men and women in Gone and Practicing to the young
artist in Untitled: all of them are representations of greater ideas, yet are warped enough in design or
position that they are freed from a complete pathetic connection. A type of historical fiction is formed,
close enough for us to grasp and consider the themes presented, yet distanced enough for the audience
to feel a desire to change things, as according to Brecht.
Walker s art is therefore an entirely new genre with this Brechtian lens, serving as a form of epic art
rather than simply epic theatre or political art. Through the objectification and therefore alienation of
her subjects with regards to the audience, Walker appears to be inciting a drive towards activity, be it a
simple acknowledgment of her themes or the creation of a spark for activism. Through the historically

Preventive Measures Towards Crime Against Women
Preventive Measures towards crime against women
Violence against women is a technical term used to collectively refer to violent acts that are primarily
or exclusively committed against women. Similar to a hate crime, this type of violence targets a
specific group with the victim s gender as a primary motive.
The United Nations General Assembly defines violence against women as any act of gender based
violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women,
including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public
or in private life. The 1993 Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women noted that this

The Classical Music And Jazz

ILAC Pathway 3
25 September 2015 Classical music and Jazz
What people come up with when they hear the words classical music is a big concert hall, while what
people come up with is a small bar or something when they hear jazz . It seems they are different as
they are named differently, but are they really different? Also, given that the mainstream in the music
industry is popular music, both classical music and jazz are not appreciated by many people, but how
have these two music survived up until today?
Firstly, it is necessary to look back into their histories in order to understand how they have developed.
Classical music dates back more than one thousand years ago, which is called Medieval era and was
succeeded by Renaissance era. And then when it entered Baroque era, where the father of music
Johann Sebastian Bach thrived, there were the forms of classical music that are similar to something
which is often heard today. However, in these old eras, classical music was a liturgical music. It was
played mostly in a church. Also, it was favored by royals or aristocrats. Even Bach was hired by some
aristocrats and composed great works for them. When it reached the eighteenth century, although
classical music was still ecclesiastical music, classical music became popularized due to concerts and
recitals. And then it entered Impressionist era, suggestion and atmosphere came to the foreground as
important factors. The word

help make the change as stress free as possible:
Decide if the move will be permanent or temporary: If there s a possibility that you ll move back into
a house within a year or two, decide if you want to put unneeded items in a storage unit or if you want
to sell them off. You won t need a snow blower, lawn mower, or weed trimmer at your new apartment,
You may be able to make some extra pocket money if you sell them now, but make sure you do

You can get rid of the assorted pieces that you thought you needed to fill an empty space. Don t wait
until the week before your move to begin sorting your belongings. Instead, start as soon as you ve
decided to move. Take an inventory of everything, then divide it all into lists of things to be thrown
out, sold, donated, or taking to your new apartment. If you haven t used an item in a year, you
probably won t use it next year. Disposing of it will give you a feeling of relief as you pare down your
possessions to only what you truly want and need.
Help your children deal with the stress: If you approach the move as a new family adventure, it will
help everyone to get excited about the transition. Make sure your children know about the kid friendly
features of your new community. Younger children will enjoy a tour of the on site playground, the
swimming pool, while teens may be interested in the exercise room, or using the clubhouse for future
parties.
Reduce anxiety about your decision: If you re feeling a bit apprehensive about making the switch from
a house to an apartment, make a list of all the benefits you ll enjoy at the new place. Write down all
the burdensome chores that will be a thing of the past as you enjoy apartment living. You won t have

Analysis Of Ethical Decision And Scandal
Analysis of ethical reaction to scandal Introduction The reputation of an organization is crucial.
Therefore, being a leader of an organization has to be able to react efficiently and effectively when
there is a threat to organization s reputation. Occasionally, a leader has to face a dilemma, whereby
one has to decide how to deal with the scandals in the organizations. On one hand, some organizations
treat their customers as a mean to gather the profits. On the other hand, other organizations regard
their customers as an end, whereby the organizations really consider about customers interests as an
ultimate goal of their services. Nonetheless, only the companies that mad the ethical actions survived.
Lacking a focus on the welfare of their customers, some propaganda techniques, aiming to cover up
the scandals, usually don t work well. Instead, successful public relationship management techniques
generally treat their customers welfare as an end not just a mean. For example, a successful crisis
management usually contains the honesty and quick reaction. Enron Corporation is a great example to
illustrate how damaging it is if company leaders try to hide up the scandals and lie to the public. From
Kant s perspective, customers, who are human beings objected to the service provided by
organizations, should be treated with dignity, as every rational being exists as an end in himself and
not merely as a means to be arbitrarily used by this or that will (Kant 428). Indeed,

Hate Crime And The United Kingdom
Whilst hate crime has been represented in the media and legislation for many years, particularly in the
US, definitions of the term have been transient and changing. The Home Office issued a report in
2013 which demonstrated to both the public and law enforcement officials the most recent formal
definition of hate crime in the United Kingdom: any criminal offence which is perceived, by the
victim or any other person, to be motivated by a hostility or prejudice towards someone based on a
personal characteristic (Home Office, 2013). Reviewing statistics on hate crime in the United
Kingdom, it becomes clear that there are two main official sources for data; the Crime Survey for
England and Wales, and crime recorded by the police. Based on combined data from the CSEW
2011/12 and 2012/13, there was an estimated 278,000 hate crimes taken place on average each year
(Home Office, 2013). However, when compared with the data shown by police recorded crime, there
are huge disparities. Between 2012/13, only 42,236 incidents of hate crime were recorded by police,
which accounts for approximately 1% of all recorded crime (Home Office, 2013).
It can be argued that hate crime is an umbrella term (Johnson, 2013: 317), such crimes are now also
classified by five specific strands, which are annually monitored by police forces in the UK in order to
evaluate the effects of preventive methods, and to calculate any fluctuations in trends of hate crime.
The five strands consist of race;

The Effects Of Political Using Maps
The Effects of Political Using Maps Maps hold their own great power. Knowing where people, goods,

say in it, regulating and producing them. The government s involvement with maps is undeniable,
especially our own. The question is how well they put their ability to use. Are outcomes favorable for
the citizens? Are politicians or governments benefitted from misuse of maps more often than not?
While many are skeptical of governments actions, they primarily use maps to bring about good

However, officials even went a step beyond to guarantee the miners safety. Pennsylvania state
representatives Arlen Specter and Tim Murphy, interested in the practice s safety, spoke highly of
robots developed by the Carnegie Mellon University computer science team that would help map

miners would not have had their lives threatened (Spice 2002). With further research and
development, officials hoped to push the technology to use. With the inclusion of this source in
conjunction with the report on the incident itself, one can see how once the problem occurred, officials
actively sought out solutions. This situation showcases an event in which the government used maps,
in this case problematic ones, to help bring about positive change. A similar situation involving flood

zones, it can be financially costly to residents. From Senator Schumer s news

Earthquakes are something that happen every day all around the world. Most earthquakes are very
small and go unfelt, however every once and while there are massive earthquakes that cause
tremendous damage to life and property. Sonoma County has a lot of fault lines running through it.
These faults line are; the San Andreas Fault, the Rodgers Creek Fault, the Maacama Fault and the
Healdsburg Fault. Since 1855, there have been more than 140 earthquakes that have actually been felt
where we live in Santa Rosa Area Of the earthquakes that have cause damage, the worst damage was
caused by; 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, 1969 Rodgers Creek/ Healdsburg Fault Earthquake, 1989
Loma Prieta Earthquake, 1994 Northridge Earthquake. We should use the data of past earthquakes in
our area to help come up with a plan in case there is another major earthquake in Sonoma County.
Data suggests that there is a 63% probability of at least one magnitude 6.7 or greater earthquake
striking somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area before the year 2032. The key to surviving and
earthquake is to be prepared. Earthquakes are caused when two blocks of earth suddenly slip past one
another. The surface where the two blocks slip is called the fault. The earthquake starts below the
earth s surface at the hypocenter, and the location above the hypocenter is called the epicenter.
Earthquakes can have foreshocks which is a smaller earthquake that happens before the larger quake.

The law also needed all foreign residents in the United States over 14 years of age to report an all

that the HUAC had been set up by Congress in 1938 to examine people distrusted of being unpatriotic

What is Self Image?
A person s self image can depend on many factors, to include internal/external and perceived/actual.
Their answer when asked What do you believe people think about you? can provide a very succinct
view of their self image and possibly how it is formed. The concept of self is derived from many traits
usually perceived as demographic information (gender, height, weight, race, etc.) but also other less
measurable components such as personal experiences or internalized judgements from others.
Self image may consist of three types:
1. Self image resulting from how the individual sees himself or herself.
2. Self image resulting from how others see the individual.
3. Self image resulting from how the individual perceives others see him or her.
These three types may or may not be an accurate representation of the person. All, some or none of
them may be true.
Cognitive and social psychologists have given self image a more technical term self schema which
refers to a summary of a person s beliefs, experiences and generalizations about the self. Self schema
is based on many aspects including personal interests, traits and physical characteristics.
Victim mentality
Victims of abuse and manipulation often get trapped into a self image of victimization. The
psychological profile of victimization includes a pervasive sense of helplessness, passivity, loss of

how God obtains information. God is omniscient, so he does not have to look for answers; he knows

Mary Shelley warns the readers of the consequences of creating without kindness. She does this by
putting her protagonist, Victor in a dilemma. At first, Victor calls his creation beautiful (Shelley 48).
But after he completes his task, Victor says he cannot endure the aspect of the being of which he
created (Shelley 49). And so he rushes out of the room and fails to compose his mind to sleep (Shelley
49). Victor s action and dialogue speak volumes about his lack of kindness. According to the Merriam
Webster dictionary, kindness is the quality or state of being gentle and considerate (Merriam Webster).
Victor shows an inconsistent reaction towards his creation. He starts off with kindness. But it can be
seen that this type of kindness does not last for long. Victor says he was unable to endure the pain of
even looking at his creature (Shelley 49). The quote shows how inconsiderate and prejudice he is.
Instead of proceeding with a gentle action, Victor rushes out of the room (Shelley 49). In no way was
Victor showing any gentleness or consideration to his creation. Because of these events, Victor s life
goes for the worse. Shelley goes on to show what happens to those who lack kindness towards their

The film, Embrace of the Serpent, was a beautifully crafted work of art. Everything from the
cinematography, to the mise en scene supported the storyline in a very profound manner. The film
combined a collection of authentic costume design, great acting, real sets, and a unique storyline in
order to deliver a truly unmatched experience in the world of film. This writing will discuss some of
the different aspects of film, and how those factors contributed to the film s overall quality.
To begin, the film definitely did a great job of creating mood, and providing perspective to the viewer
through mise en scene. Mise en scene is a term that refers to all of the visual components of a film.
These visual elements can include things like props, costumes, and sets. The character by the name of

These white men are obsessed with their material possessions, and can t think on the same level as the
people of the Amazon. Karamakate, the main Amazonian man in the film, was constantly making fun
of the white men for their things. He would constantly ask them why they cared so much for their
things. They never really quite had a definite answer to his question. However, to the white men, the
things that they carried around with them were more than just mere possessions. They were years of
long, hard, research and accomplishment during their journeys. However, this film was not only
entertaining, but also it played a role in evaluating my personal lifestyle. As I was viewing the film, I
kept thinking about how my ways of thinking are so in tune with the white men in the film. It was
interesting to see how different the different types of characters where when it came to this material

Why Cave Art Has Been A Popular Form Of Art During...
Cave Art has been a popular form of art during prehistoric period with there being records of rock art
in a variety of various places ranging from Africa, Asia and Australia to Europe and the Americas.
Some of the earliest example of cave art goes back as far as 40,000 years ago in Europe with 200 cave
painting sites found in France (Kelly and Thomas, 2016, p.255) such as the Cave of Niaux, as well as
Creswell Crags in England and the Cave of El Castillo in Spain as well as a variety of others.
Throughout the world a common imagery is seen in the paintings with them being consisted of
animals and very little of actual humans, the reason for this type of imagery is not known hence why
the interpretation of upper Palaeolithic cave art has been a disputed topic resulting in a variety of
theories being constructed in order to explain the existence of the cave art which were constructed.
Over time there has been many theories which have been accepted and rejected, however there has not
been one agreed general idea, some of the popular ideas which have been established although are that
the paintings were set to establish boundary markers, to be used as part of hunting magic / shamanism
or they may have just simply have been art to admire. Yet there has been no certain answer established
as each theory seems to be continuously disregarded and soon replaced with another, however as time
as gone on people have begun to not try and answer this question as they believe that it is

The Rural Care Organizations Improvement Act Of 2015
The Rural Accountable Care Organizations Improvement Act of 2015, introduced to the United States
Senate in May and now being reviewed by the Senate Finance Committee, will amend part of the
Social Security Act to try and improve the way the Medicare shared savings program assigns
beneficiaries by basing the assignments on services of primary care offered by providers, including
Nurse Practitioners (Govtrack.us, 2015). For Nurse Practitioners specifically, this new legislation will
allow nurse practitioner patients to be assigned to Medicare shared savings Accountable Care
Organizations (ACOs) (AANP, 2015). Currently, the Affordable Care Act establishes nurse
practitioners as providers whom are eligible providers in ACOs; however, the current Medicare Shared
Savings program statute prevents beneficiaries of Medicare, who are receiving primary care service
from a nurse practitioner, from being assigned to Accountable Care Organizations inside the program
(AANP, 2015). The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (2015) also claim the exclusion of
nurse practitioners must be repealed if ACOs want to develop further as models of practice, which
improve cost effectiveness, patient access and quality. Since 2011, the representative for the 3rd
Congressional District of Tennessee is Chuck Fleischmann of Ooltewah. Fleischmann, like most
Republicans, is against Obama care altogether, having co sponsored the Act to repeal the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) in

Game Of Thrones Misogyny Analysis
Game of Thrones: A Disguised Misogyny Game of Thrones is currently one of the most popular
television shows that airs on HBO. Throughout its seven season run, Game of Thrones has represented
gender and sexuality in ways that often tend to simultaneously propagate popular stereotypes and
downplay them at other times. In the drama, the characters can be shown to be representing distinctive
characteristics being feminine or masculine and so its society is generally viewed as misogynistic in
the way it is structured. As we know, how in our society today s women are so powerful and
successful still they are considered weaker sex and dominated by the men. This drama is a perfect
example of the issues women of our society face every day. The setting of the show is in Westeros and
Essos, two fictional continents which have been widely likened to the medieval ages. The show has
various plot lines centering on three main story arcs. The first focuses on the Iron Throne of the Seven
Kingdoms and pursues tangled conflicts and alliances among the monastic noble families who either
vie to claim the throne or fight to be independent from it. The second story arc concentrates on the
enduring brotherhood tasked with protecting the realm from age old threats and apocryphal creatures
from the far north, and an imminent winter which poses a threat to the entire realm. The third story arc
centers on the last descendant of the removed dynasty meant to rule the realm who is in exile and

Interrupt Vs. Asynchronous Communication
Operating System | Assignment #1 | | Information System | 2012 03 29 | |
1. What is the purpose of interrupts? What are the differences between a trap and an interrupt? Can
traps be generated intentionally by a user program? If so, for what purpose? (Chapter 1)
Interrupt is that causes a computer processor to temporarily stop executing its current program and
execute another program instead, finally returning control to the original program. So it prevent that
more important task goes back because of less important task.

6. What are the benefits and detriments of each of the following? Consider both the systems and the
programmers levels. (Chapter 3)
a) Synchronous and asynchronous communication
b) Automatic and explicit buffering
a) Synchronous vs asynchronous can be called to blocking vs non blocking communication. The
benefit of synchronous communication is the simplicity and accuracy. However blocking may not be
necessary and waste time. Asynchronous communication allows messages to be delivered without
waiting. However this communication has less reliability than blocking one. b) Automatic buffering
provides a queue with in definite length; thus ensuring the sender will never have to block while
waiting to copy a message. There are no specifications how automatic buffering will be provided; one
scheme may reserve sufficiently large memory where much of the memory is wasted. Explicit
buffering specifies how large the buffer is. In this situation, the sender may be blocked while waiting
for available space in the queue. However, it is less likely memory will be wasted with explicit
buffering.
7. Describe the differences among short term, medium term, and long term scheduling.
(Chapter 3)
1) Short term scheduling: It selects from jobs in memory, those jobs which are ready to execute, and

Chocolate Syrup and Milk
Introduction: We were testing the solubility of the chocolate syrup brands while being stirred in whole
milk. Our purpose is to see which of the major brands of syrup is most soluble and for what reason.
This is important to our daily lives because it makes us aware of what types of materials we are
ingesting and this applies to our experiment by seeing which of the ingredients take longer to dissolve.
Information known is all brands are known to dissolve in milk but they all use different ingredients
and they will cause a difference in the time it takes to dissolve. New information that will be gained
from this experiment is which ingredients inside chocolate syrup will take the longest to dissolve,
from the type of sugars in it to the syrups. We expected the Nesquik to dissolve the fastest because it
did not contain any high fructose corn syrup while the other brand of syrup did. Also we observed
from the syrups that nesquik was very thin, while the others were very thick and slow in behaviour.
Our hypothesis is that the Nesquik will disintegrate the fastest in the milk because it lacks High
Fructose Corn Syrup.
Materials Procedures:
Materials:
1. Hershey s Chocolate Syrup
2. Nesquik Chocolate Syrup
3. Great Value Chocolate Syrup
4. Any ONE of brand whole milk
5. Little Measuring cup
6. 3 cups
7. strainer
8. spoon
9. Large bowl
10. Teaspoon measurer

  • 2. Is there truly any justice in the novel The Stranger,... Is there truly any justice in the novel The Stranger, written by Albert Camus? Is there truly any justice in the novel The Stranger, written by Albert Camus? This is a question that naturally protrudes throughout the novel, as it is not abundantly clear what Meursault, the protagonist, was, in fact, put on trial for. At the beginning of the second part of the narrative, it is understood that he is put on trial for the murder of an Arab; however, it later comes to our attention that the murder was not the primary reason of his trial, and perhaps not even an essential one for that matter. The fact remains that Meursault was undoubtedly put on trial, not for the murder committed, but for being the way he was: unemotional through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The answer is simple: it does not relate to the murder of the Arab. Being the representative of society, the jury opposes Meursault and accuses him of not conforming to society s natural ways, and being what we nowadays refer to as the odd one out . They exclude him from society for his odd clear cut and sincere demeanor, and for his manifestation of an inexpressive character. Another example is the moment in which the magistrate, a local member of the judiciary having limited jurisdiction, especially in criminal cases, questioned Meursault. In this particular scene, the magistrate changes the topic rather abruptly from his love for Maman, to which he responded he loved the same as anyone (p. 67), to the murder scene. What followed was a vast discussion on Meursault s belief in God, which he felt rather apathetic about; however, the magistrate, waving a crucifix to his face refers to him as the antichrist (p. 71). And later, during the trial, the judge and the prosecuting attorney seem more intrigued by the fact that Meursault did not grieve at his mother s funeral and got involved with Marie the day after it, than the actual act that had been committed: the assassination of a man. • 3. Shakespeare s King Lear And The Great Gatsby Personal gratification is commonplace in society, but the force to overcome it is not. In both Shakespeare s King Lear, and Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, man s natural psychological id is displayed by key characters, who are all morally corrupt. King Lear has 2 distinct sides who represent the id and superego, battling over justice in a kingdom centered around a weathered king. In The Great Gatsby, a commonplace working man by the name of Nick Carraway surrounds himself with friends who indulge themselves in luxury, influenced by the psychological id embedded deep within everyone. When observing family dynamics, both King Lear and The Great Gatsby reveal family interactions are driven primarily by the id, which is further supported when considering the presence of oedipal dynamics in both novels. In terms of narrative events, The Great Gatsby s events are heavily influenced by the id, with little to no superego expressed. In contrast, while the bulk of King Lear s storyline is similarly driven by the id, the superego plays a larger role in resisting the id s unlawful desires, and this is exemplified through the triumph of the superego at the story s end. The Great Gatsby depicts how life is hopelessly overridden by human s natural id while King Lear demonstrates how even the smallest source of superego can combat the aggressive nature of the id present in life. In both King Lear and The Great Gatsby, the id is influential in most family interactions. For instance, King ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leadership And Effective Leadership For Learning Schools must meet the challenges of a changing educational climate and effective leadership is crucial in helping to guide the whole school community through the potentially treacherous waters of change. This assignment will delve into the complexity of leadership and will emphasize that whilst leaders can attempt to create conditions to help schools improve, they are not solely responsible for the outcome of the education process. Fullan (2001) posits that effective school leadership has the ability to manage educational change by building strong relationships and establishing a moral purpose. Therefore, the school leader has the orchestral role of subtly creating the conditions necessary for pupils and staff to thrive. This assignment will focus primarily on three of the preconditions for effective Leadership for Learning, mentioned with the assignment title: the role of shared leadership, explicit conversations and the creation of settings, mindsets, and strategies conducive to learning. The writer feels, that effective leaders can transform the idea of mutual accountability into moral accountability . Therefore this section can be interwoven within each of these three strands of Leadership for Learning mentioned; in a sense mutual or moral accountability could be interpreted as a by product of effective leadership. Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Practitioner Role Delineation Sarah Carr University of Regina Abstract Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are both considered advanced practice nurses (APNs) in Canada (Donald et al., 2010). Although these roles have existed in Canada for decades (Canadian Nurses Association, 2008), confusion still remains about the titles and exact roles that these professionals play (Donald et al., 2010). This paper will use the Saskatchewan Nursing Advanced Practice model as a framework to highlight the similarities and differences between both types of advanced practice nurse. The scope of practice, registration, education, practice settings, and effectiveness of CNSs and NPs will be examined. Although their roles overlap, CNSs and NPs have both been shown to be important members of the health care team (DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010). Research has shown that adding CNSs and NPs to our health care system can increase patient satisfaction, decrease wait times, and decrease readmissions (DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010). Increased public and health care professional awareness is needed to have these roles fully incorporated into our current health care system (DiCenso Bryant Lukosius, 2010). • 11. Girl With Prayer Summary Explication of poem: Girl With Prayer The poem Girl With Prayer by Ruben Quesada illustrates a person that is in deep grief or perhaps traumatized by the accident which the speaker has witnessed when the narrator was a kid. As well, the speaker has vivid memories from the accident that currently is distressing the speaker. For instance, the speaker says; the same dream comes (2), which indicates the speaker or narrator is going through a hard time, perhaps when the speaker is sleeping and dreaming, the scenario of accident takes place as a memory and nightmare, which is affecting the speaker mentally and psychologically. As result, the narrator feels exhausted. Thus, the person narrating the poem feels trapped by girl s accident which disturbs the personal life of the narrator and recalling the accident appears to lead the speaker to feel exhausted. The author does provide a title to his poem; Girl With Prayer which involves religion and the girl is associated with it. After a runaway car has hit the girl, the girl s body is physically damaged; Her face bruised/arms blasted to bone (12 13). Therefore, the girl s body injured seems to trigger the speaker to fall on exhaustion (1). Besides, the speaker happens to be at the scene where the accident took place since the speaker s mother carried the girl, lay or put down the girl on the edge of the sidewalk. The narrator states then my mother helps her off the street/to the curb (13 14), where the girl finally passes away. The narrator lets the reader know the girl dies when; ...again, everything is silent (14) the silence implies something much worse has happened after the girl has been put aside. Afterwards, the narrator states slowly the Lord s Prayer ruptures her split lips (15), suggesting that the mother prayed for the deceased girl on the sidewalk. However, the focus is on the child that now seems to be a young adult that it is having personal issues. As when the speaker mentions, when I fall...from exhaustion (1), and the same dream comes (2), illustrates the speaker is going through tough time and having flashbacks from the girl s accident, when the speaker is sleeping and dreaming. If women are having children and their partner absconds then that leaves many women vulnerable to the ghastly teeth of the economy. The cost of baby for one year is about $36,750 if the mother must find someone to care for the baby. This is due to her job she must keep up to provide income. The Nervous Systems ( Cns ) And The Peripheral Nervous System The nervous system is the part of the human body in charge of coordinating the reception of external stimuli and the response the body gives to them. It is equipped with sense organs called receptors, which are in charge of transforming the stimuli s energy into nerve impulses [1]. To emit an external response, the nervous system uses effectors that can be either muscles or glands. We can divide the nervous system into two separate systems: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS consists of the brain and the spinal cord and is protected by the cranium and the vertebral column, respectively. The PNS is in charge of connecting the CNS with the receptors and the effectors. To transfer the information from one part of the body to another, a specialized type of cells called neurons is used. Neurons are in charge of a communicative function. They perform two different types of activities. The first one consists in helping the conduction of a signal from one part of the cell to another. The second activity they perform is synaptic transmission, which means communication between adjacent cells. Figure 1.1 Neuron structure. Source: http://webspace.ship.edu Neurons are composed of a cell body called soma, dendrites and axon. There is a single axon while there are multiple dendrites per each neuron. • 24. While Presenting May Be A Literal Objectification Of Slaves While Presenting may be a literal objectification of slaves in Walker s work, this overarching concept can also be seen in her works Untitled and Gone. In Untitled, the young woman is depicted as naked, a common practice from slavery. During the practice, slaves were often forced to stand nude and be inspected by potential masters, as if part of a crude, human dog show. The woman in this picture seems vulnerable in a similar fashion, forced to stand in an apparently submissive state to the fully clothed men and women beside her in order to have her work be considered at all by this high art world. Gone s brutal caricatures particularly focus on this slave master objectification, primarily with slaves serving as objects of sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Steer phrases it, the aim [of Brecht s pieces] is to promote an attitude of regional activism, an ability to see things could be other than they are (Steer 639). Brecht accomplishes a desire for activism by alienating the audience from his characters, or by trying to free socially conditioned phenomena from that stamp of familiarity which protects them against our grasp (Brecht 192). The hero is more a creation of a social and political atmosphere than a living breathing character, and is therefore viewed as an object, something inhuman. Walker s caricatures follow this structure, ranging from the slave men and women in Gone and Practicing to the young artist in Untitled: all of them are representations of greater ideas, yet are warped enough in design or position that they are freed from a complete pathetic connection. A type of historical fiction is formed, close enough for us to grasp and consider the themes presented, yet distanced enough for the audience to feel a desire to change things, as according to Brecht. Walker s art is therefore an entirely new genre with this Brechtian lens, serving as a form of epic art rather than simply epic theatre or political art. Through the objectification and therefore alienation of her subjects with regards to the audience, Walker appears to be inciting a drive towards activity, be it a simple acknowledgment of her themes or the creation of a spark for activism. It seems they are different as they are named differently, but are they really different? Also, given that the mainstream in the music industry is popular music, both classical music and jazz are not appreciated by many people, but how have these two music survived up until today? Firstly, it is necessary to look back into their histories in order to understand how they have developed. Classical music dates back more than one thousand years ago, which is called Medieval era and was succeeded by Renaissance era. And then when it entered Baroque era, where the father of music Johann Sebastian Bach thrived, there were the forms of classical music that are similar to something which is often heard today. However, in these old eras, classical music was a liturgical music. It was played mostly in a church. Also, it was favored by royals or aristocrats. Even Bach was hired by some aristocrats and composed great works for them. When it reached the eighteenth century, although classical music was still ecclesiastical music, classical music became popularized due to concerts and recitals. • 30. Analysis Of Ethical Decision And Scandal Analysis of ethical reaction to scandal Introduction The reputation of an organization is crucial. Therefore, being a leader of an organization has to be able to react efficiently and effectively when there is a threat to organization s reputation. Occasionally, a leader has to face a dilemma, whereby one has to decide how to deal with the scandals in the organizations. On one hand, some organizations treat their customers as a mean to gather the profits. On the other hand, other organizations regard their customers as an end, whereby the organizations really consider about customers interests as an ultimate goal of their services. Nonetheless, only the companies that mad the ethical actions survived. Lacking a focus on the welfare of their customers, some propaganda techniques, aiming to cover up the scandals, usually don t work well. Instead, successful public relationship management techniques generally treat their customers welfare as an end not just a mean. For example, a successful crisis management usually contains the honesty and quick reaction. Enron Corporation is a great example to illustrate how damaging it is if company leaders try to hide up the scandals and lie to the public. From Kant s perspective, customers, who are human beings objected to the service provided by organizations, should be treated with dignity, as every rational being exists as an end in himself and not merely as a means to be arbitrarily used by this or that will (Kant 428). Hate Crime And The United Kingdom Whilst hate crime has been represented in the media and legislation for many years, particularly in the US, definitions of the term have been transient and changing. The Home Office issued a report in 2013 which demonstrated to both the public and law enforcement officials the most recent formal definition of hate crime in the United Kingdom: any criminal offence which is perceived, by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by a hostility or prejudice towards someone based on a personal characteristic (Home Office, 2013). Reviewing statistics on hate crime in the United Kingdom, it becomes clear that there are two main official sources for data; the Crime Survey for England and Wales, and crime recorded by the police. Based on combined data from the CSEW 2011/12 and 2012/13, there was an estimated 278,000 hate crimes taken place on average each year (Home Office, 2013). However, when compared with the data shown by police recorded crime, there are huge disparities. Between 2012/13, only 42,236 incidents of hate crime were recorded by police, which accounts for approximately 1% of all recorded crime (Home Office, 2013). It can be argued that hate crime is an umbrella term (Johnson, 2013: 317), such crimes are now also classified by five specific strands, which are annually monitored by police forces in the UK in order to evaluate the effects of preventive methods, and to calculate any fluctuations in trends of hate crime. • 36. Self Images And Self Image Self Image HERO Training 2015 2 Thomas Cumbie Tuesday, August 18 2015 What is Self Image? A person s self image can depend on many factors, to include internal/external and perceived/actual. Their answer when asked What do you believe people think about you? can provide a very succinct view of their self image and possibly how it is formed. The concept of self is derived from many traits usually perceived as demographic information (gender, height, weight, race, etc.) but also other less measurable components such as personal experiences or internalized judgements from others. Self image may consist of three types: 1. Self image resulting from how the individual sees himself or herself. 2. Self image resulting from how others see the individual. 3. Self image resulting from how the individual perceives others see him or her. These three types may or may not be an accurate representation of the person. All, some or none of them may be true. Cognitive and social psychologists have given self image a more technical term self schema which refers to a summary of a person s beliefs, experiences and generalizations about the self. Self schema is based on many aspects including personal interests, traits and physical characteristics. Our purpose is to see which of the major brands of syrup is most soluble and for what reason. This is important to our daily lives because it makes us aware of what types of materials we are ingesting and this applies to our experiment by seeing which of the ingredients take longer to dissolve. Information known is all brands are known to dissolve in milk but they all use different ingredients and they will cause a difference in the time it takes to dissolve. New information that will be gained from this experiment is which ingredients inside chocolate syrup will take the longest to dissolve, from the type of sugars in it to the syrups. We expected the Nesquik to dissolve the fastest because it did not contain any high fructose corn syrup while the other brand of syrup did. Also we observed from the syrups that nesquik was very thin, while the others were very thick and slow in behaviour. Our hypothesis is that the Nesquik will disintegrate the fastest in the milk because it lacks High Fructose Corn Syrup. Materials Procedures: Materials: 1. Hershey s Chocolate Syrup 2.
