Soviet Women During Wwi During World War II
Soviet Women during WW2 Women during World War II in the Soviet Union played a major role
in helping the
USSR win the war in a lot of different ways. In my paper I am going to show how Soviet women
helped Russia win the war and the ways they went about in doing that and how without the support
of women, the USSR would have lost the conflict and became part of Nazi Germany. I am also
going to write about how women were seen in the Soviet Union during this time and how the war
changed how women were perceived in Russian society and also the challenges they had to face
to be seen as equals in the Soviet Union . Also I am going to write about how the efforts of women

Multicultural Management
Multicultural Management , like usual management, requires supervision of the company so the
thrift of the company to be kept. We know from Peter Drucker that exist five tasks so the job of the
manager can be realized. And these tasks are planning (setting objectives), organizing, integrating
(motivating and communicating), measuring performance and developing people. The same tasks
consist even on the job of a multicultural manager except the difficulties that differ from those of a
usual manager.
According to (Brett) the challenges that a multicultural manager faces are divided into four
categories :

Humor of South Park Essay
Manbearpig: Half Man, Half Bear, Half Pig, but All Global Warming? South Park is a popular
animated comedy series written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. While the episodes of South
Park are always humorous on the surface, each show usually has a deeper, much more profound
meaning and moral. One episode of South Park entitled Manbearpig, named after the monster in
the episode, has a particularly potent deeper meaning. On the surface, the episode pokes fun at
monster stories, politics, and specifically Al Gore. Deeper down, however, this monster story can
be read as a national allegory alluding to the dangers of global warming, the problems with the
politics behind global warming, and the eventual doom we will all face if we do nothing... Show

Al Gore tells the student body that he is there to warn them about the single biggest threat to
human existence, a horrible monster named Manbearpig. Al Gore further goes on to describe the
monster s appearance. He states that Manbearpig is half man, half bear, and half pig (South
Park). This pokes fun at the typical monster in literature. The impossible ratio of man, bear, and
pig shows how monsters can be considered scary regardless of how ridiculous they may actually
be when analyzed literally. While Manbearpig is not necessarily intended to be scary to the
audience of South Park, it is intended to be scary to the students by Al Gore. In fact, the attributes
of Manbearpig are similar to those of many different monsters throughout literature. Manbearpig is a
creature that is a mixture of man and animal. This is a characteristic attributable to many monsters
in literature. For example, the werewolf addresses this same fear about crossing line between man
and animal. Man animal Strauss 2 hybrid monsters are scary because they can have the intellect of
man but an animalistic nature. They are also unnatural and present the question of where they
originated. Additionally, man animal hybrid monsters are scary because they imply that a human
can become part animal. This is, it may be possible, either willingly or unwillingly, to become a
man animal hybrid. Al Gore

In The Healthcare Industry, The Power To Collect, Assess,
In the healthcare industry, the power to collect, assess, and disseminate information is a valuable

Argumentative Essay On Drug Addiction
One Friday night, Dan decided to go out with his friends to a party. He was nice, and
hardworking guy, but that night he made the decision that changed his life. He decided to inhale
cocaine because all his friends were pressuring him to do it. After that day, he felt the need of
inhaling more drugs. He would look around the house and inhale hairspray, nail polish remover,
and anything calms him down. Months passed, he was addicted to inhaling drugs. One day, he
felt nauseous and fainted. His worried family rushed him to the hospital. His blood flow was
reduced, and if he was not rushed to the hospital, he would have been dead. Many people believe
that drugs are for fun and will make them feel better. Nonetheless, drugaddictionis pernicious
because of death and family problems.
Many people believe drug addiction is a brain disease but it is a choice made by people. The
article, Addiction is a choice, states addiction is a behavior thus clearly intended by an
individual person. When people are offered or pressured to do drugs, they have the right to walk
away or deny, but many choose to do it just to prove that they are brave. In the article why do
children experiment with illegal drugs, one of the main reason why young people use drugs is the
influence of peer pressure, the presumption being that adolescent is pressured into taking drugs by
their drug using friends (McIntosh)? With this reason, many teens are more likely to do more drugs

The Politics Of The United States Essay
With the 2016 election coming up in less than a month, political issues such abortion,
immigration, and other hot topics have come to the forefront of the political discussions.
However, there is one issue yet to be settled that has not recently seen the spotlight of the political
battle. The issue of allowing felons or prisoners the right to vote has been pushed to the
backburner as new political debates arise such as foreign policy, therefore preventing the debate
from ever reaching a conclusive decision. The practice of not allowing prisoners to vote has been
instated before the creation of the United States, and is characterized as a traditional practice
deriving from early Greek and Roman governments. Nevertheless, the United States adopted this
tradition through the formulation of the fourteenth amendment. This amendment states in section
two, ...or the members of the legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such
state, being twenty one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged,
except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be
reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number
of male citizens twenty one years of age in such state (Cornell Law, 2008). With the amendment
being ratified in 1868, we have not allowed prisoners to vote due to constitutional allowances for
almost 150 years. Than what is all the

Jaws
When most of the world hears the iconic song from the movie Jaws, their mind automatically
shifts to images of giant sharks and severed limbs. Thanks to the film, many people boycotted
beaches and mothers strictly kept their children away from open waters; triggering a massive cloud
of fear and ignorance that would consume most, if not all, of the world. Jaws coated the general
public s perception of sharks with a curtain of blood and fear, vilifying them for decades to come.
With the films debut in 1975, it kick started a tidal wave of mass hysteria and paranoia, and as a
result the public s attitudes on sharks plummeted as fast and as deep as the titanic. Not many people

While most people were gathering their torches and sharpening their pitch forks, set on destroying
the oceans equivalent of a troll, those of a different nature began to group together and invest
countless amounts of time and money to learn more about them. In the wake of Jaws, a whole
constellation of dedicated shark research programs were begun or renewed. This resulted in
numerous scientific conferences to allow researchers to share their results and collaborate on more
ambitious projects. Rather than putting their prime focus on shark attacks, these meetings
concentrated on shark systematics, physiology, life history, ecology, fisheries management and
conservation. It is doubtful that this much fascination, be it fearful or curious, and funding would
have had been available to support modern shark research had it not been for Jaws. In fact,

State of Sharks, 40 years after, that Rules and policies were designed to protect sharks includes
shark sanctuaries, banning of shark fining (the taking of just the valuable fins and discarding the
often still living shark), prohibitions on selling and shipping of shark products and changes in
fishing gear that reduce the likelihood of sharks being caught by mistake. Wendy Benchly is the
wife to Peter Bradford Benchly, author of Jaws.

Childhood Memories And Its Effects On Our Lives
We each have memories, both from long ago and recent times, that we hold dear to us.
Memories get us through the hard days and keep us chipper in the good ones. The past is what
makes us who we are. It shapes how we act, how we treat others, and simply just what we do on a
day to day basis. Memories are the little things that keep this world running smoothly. Imagine
what it would be like to lose those memories. What if you were to forget things to the point you
were losing your functionality? Every 67 seconds another person in the US falls victim to this
disease (www.alz.org). They may remember childhood memories, but forgot where they put the
cheese they bought yesterday. As the disease gets worse and worse, they may wander and even
forget people they care deeply about and those they interact with daily. Who are these people, and
what is the it they are suffering from? These are people suffering from Alzheimers Disease,
affecting 5 million individuals in the United States alone. Alzheimers Disease is a type of dementia,
a more general term meaning a decline in someone s mental ability, to the point of affecting their
everyday life. Alzheimers is actually the most common form, afflicting about 80% of dementia
patients. There are treatments and medications available to help patients with symptoms and slow
its progress through the brain, but science has not yet found a way to completely stop it, or even
slow it significantly for many patients. As patients continue

Essay On Landlords
Saving Drains From Tenant Tyranny: 10 Ways Landlords Can Keep Their Plumbing Clog Free
Owning rental property can be rewarding and lucrative, but it can sometimes be one headache after
another, especially if tenants misuse or abuse your apartments. Clogged pipes are one instance
where being a landlord can literally drain your time and money to no end. Here are 10 helpful ways
to avoid that mess, once and for all.
1. Specify Who Is Responsible For Clogs In The Lease
You should include a clause in the lease your tenants sign, indicating if they or you will be
responsible for drain cleaning and clogs. Failure to include this information will likely leave you
on the hook every time a slight issue arises with drains. Be sure to read this ... Show more content

This preventative action, too, will work in your favor if the next tenant tries to complain that
persistent clogging is a result of your inaction.
4. Stock Up On Drain Screens For Your Tubs
Drain screens are cheap and easy to store and while you don t want to make a habit of buying
things your tenants should be buying themselves, having extra screens on hand may be worthwhile
if doing so prevents those annoying and often time consuming clogs. You could limit the number of
free screens you provide each tenant, but since you can t force them to buy their own, giving them
away will likely save you money and time in the long run.
5. Equip Washing Machine Hoses With Lint Catchers
If you own washing machines on the property, be sure and equip them all with lint catchers. This
will eliminate a lot of added debris from entering the system and potentially causing more clogs.
6. Never Rinse Your Carpenter Tools In The Sinks
Whether you or hired professionals take care of re grouting, caulking and other carpentry jobs at
your rental units, make sure no one ever uses the sinks to rinse tools off. Even when it s only done
occasionally, all that goop going down the drains can add up to costly clogs later.
7. Clean Pop Up Stoppers Regularly
All of your bathroom sinks should have pop up stoppers in them and it s a good idea for you (or

Analysis Of Black Hair By Gary Soto
Black Hair by Gary Soto is a three stanza, free verse poem that observes the life of a young
Mexican boy and his admiration for Hector Moreno, a Mexican baseball figure. The speaker is
immediately identified as the young boy as he starts to reminisce about when he was eight years
old. The boy goes on to talk about how he thought of himself at this age, as well as Hector and
his parents. He would watch the baseball games and look up to Hector, copying him, and
addressing how this win for Hector would be a win for him and all the brown people . The
audience isn t addressed as a literal part of the poem, so we can imagine it from a bird s eye point
of view. The poem takes place within the mind of the former boy, reflecting on his time among...

So how might the author demonstrate his piece and how do these tools affect the way in which
we understand his overall message? To follow, I will explore the ways in which the author chose
to deliver his message and which tools make this successful from the audience s perspective. An
immediate choice I notice from the author is his selective diction. Soto uses a lot of strong
diction like dirty, torch, terror, flared, and twisting, but none captivate the character as well as
when he uses the word brilliant . When Soto uses the word brilliant in stanza one and three, he
does not mean to say intelligent or excellent. Instead, Soto uses this word to mean something
more with a literal and physical meaning, like how he states towards the end of the poem, In the
bleachers I was brilliant with my body/Waving players in and stomping my feet (Soto 21 22),
connecting it to the body and its actions. This brings the character alive and gives the boy a feeling
of acceptance and power, connecting him with the community and success he was becoming a part
of. Soto s diction led me to notice the radiance this word gave the boy, which exposed the theme of
lightness and darkness, symbolizing the child s journey through hope. The

African American Literature Reflection Paper
Before starting this class, African American Literature, I wasn t too sure what to expect. I had
never taken an AFAS class before but I had heard great things from my friends so I decided to
take one. Professor Carter was an amazing professor and always sounded to extremely passionate
and excited during class which I found very admirable. The way he spoke about the different
aspects of the class and the different pieces of writing was very intriguing and always held my
attention in class. We read a variety of African American
literature in this class which included
novels, poems, and short stories and each and every one of them related perfectly to what we were
talking about during that time in class. We studied different authors and their writing styles, as well
as different eras including the Harlem Renaissance.
The thing that set this class apart from the rest was the use of multimedia in the class. This
included the weekly voice threads, the live videos each class period, and the multimedia
projects throughout the semester. This was my favorite part of the class. I loved how the
professor didn t just want us to express our opinions of the literature in projects, but he wanted
us to express our opinions in the most creative ways. We were assigned weekly voice threads which
allowed us to answer several questions based off of our own opinions of the readings we read for
class. Personally, I loved this because I felt like I could proudly share what I felt about the reading

Extraction Techniques For Rough Medications
Extraction, as the term is utilized pharmaceutically, includes the partition of restoratively dynamic
segments of plant or creature tissues from the idle or latent parts by utilizing particular solvents as a
part of standard extraction strategies. The items so acquired from plants are generally polluted
fluids, semisolids or powders expected just for oral or outside use. These incorporate classes of
arrangements known as decoctions, implantations, liquid removes, tinctures, pilular (semisolid)
separates and powdered concentrates. Such arrangements famously have been called galenicals,
named after Galen, the second century Greek doctor. The motivations behind institutionalized
extraction techniques for rough medications are to achieve the restoratively sought divide and to
wipe out the dormant material by treatment with a specific dissolvable known as menstrum. The

Essay On Amphetamines
Amphetamines are stimulants that dramatically affect the central nervous system. They have a
common medical use and are present in medications that treat attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder, obesity, and narcolepsy. Due to its stimulative properties, an amphetamine drug can reduce
the adverse symptoms of these health disorders.
What s the Danger of Amphetamines?
The amphetamine drug is still dangerous despite its medical properties. Like many other
prescription medications, an amphetamine drug is highly addictive. An illicit street substance
known as crystal meth is also another form of amphetamine.

Addiction to an amphetamine drug is extremely complicated. It s common for people to begin
using them to do better in school or for increased focus at work. However, this means that
addictions to amphetamines are heavily psychological.
In order to untangle an amphetamine drug addiction, a person likely has to go through a combination
of drug addiction therapy and psychotherapy. This is especially true since many users of
amphetamines are teens and young adults. Addiction treatment and psychotherapy will help them
manage their mental health and learn coping skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.
Despite its complications, recovery from amphetamine addiction is possible. Acknowledging and

It was said that Ruth is overweight and showed little success in dieting. This could be a tell tale
sign that she may have lower metabolic activity. This, coupled with a reduction in the volume of
gray matter in her prefrontal cortex may result in her having serious depression (Saveanu
Nemeroff, 2012). One of the psychological factor could be the loss of a loved one. Ruth has
suffered the death of her husband of 20 years and this may trigger her depression as it reduces her
positive reinforces in Ruth s life (Hammen, 2005) (as in Kearney Trull, 2012). Her positive

A social factor could again due to her childhood experiences. Her family showed little affection, her

How Did Galileo Contribute To Science
Have you ever looked to the stars and wondered how we could ever see something so far away?
Well we can, greatly in part to a man named Galileo Galilei. Galileo made many contributions to
modern science. Probably the most well known of Galileo s contributions to science is the
invention of the telescope. Galileo s life consisted of many important events; there were two main
people who helped him do what he did; he made many important inventions and discoveries; and
his discoveries are the basis of modern astronomy. In Galileo s life he had one main influence. His
father Vincenzo Galilei. Vincenzo was a famous musician. (Whiting ,2008) He saw that Galileo was
very smart from a young age, so he taught him on his own until galileo turned eleven

Schizophrenia Is A Disorder Of The Brain
Schizophrenia is a disorder of the brain that affects how a person feels, thinks, and how they
observe the world around them. People with schizophrenia may seem like they have lost touch with
reality (nimh.nih.gov, 2016). The media used was a movie called Canvas, which the mother has
schizophrenia. She continues to worsen over time until she gets help. The movie expresses her
hallucinations and delusions, and how they affect her and her family life. The development of
schizophreniacan progress slowly or can be a fast, abrupt onset. The onset is usually between the
teenage years and mid thirties. A theory of the PBS channel on what schizophrenia teaches us,
states how people become schizophrenic, the genes for schizophrenia can lay dormant until certain
circumstances trigger their expression, the diagnosis is mostly based on what the patient reports
(Eck, 2014). Each patient presents the onset, signs, and symptoms of schizophrenia in a different
way.
Schizophrenia has many different behaviors and moods with disorders of thoughts and movement
(Nimh.nih.gov, 2016). Schizophrenia has three classifications of symptoms, positive, negative, and
cognitive. Positive symptoms are psychotic symptoms, usually auditory hallucinations, delusions,
disorganized speech and behavior (Frankenburg, 2015). Other positive symptoms are dysfunctional
ways of thinking and disturbed body movements. Negative symptoms are expressed primarily
through emotions and behaviors. Negative

Adjustment Disorder Case Study
In her report dated 23 December 2016, Dr Roesler diagnosed the worker with adjustment disorder
with depressed mood and secondary insomnia. In support of this diagnosis she referred to the
worker s presentation and complaints of trouble sleeping and stress at work that she considered an
aggravating factor.
Dr Roesler stated that while the symptoms were consistent with the original injury, the pain and
disability associated with the back strain was disproportionate.
She noted being concerned by influential relatives at the consultations, and that limited English
renders a conversation more difficult.
Dr Roesler considered the workplace to be a major contributor, although she stated that it was not

The worker also complained of being issued with numerous warnings, and that his supervisor

Themes Of A Prayer For Owen Meany
A Prayer For Owen Meany A Prayer For Owen Meany is a book about a boy named John
Wheelwright who lives in Gravesend. We follow him in his retelling of his childhood and his
best friend Owen Meany. The title shows that the book is an extended prayer on Owens behalf.
There are two very important themes in the book; appearances and innocence. Both themes
pertain to John s mother, Tabitha Wheelwright. There is a large contrast in the book between
Tabitha s wardrobe and her single red dress which represents a theme of Tabby trying to regain
innocence. In the book, Tabitha Wheelwright owns a bright red dress. No one in Gravesend had
ever seen her wear it because she hated it. In many cultures, red is often associated with passion
and sex. Tabitha

Comparison Of Freud And Jentsch s Concept Of The Uncanny
In 1919, Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, published his own psychological
investigation on the notion of uncanny. Previous studies were conducted on this subject by the
German psychologist Ernst Anton Jentsch, and served as the starting point for Freud s analysis.
However, the feeling of uncanny was not an easy concept to identify. Jentsch concluded that it
fits in the area of the fear of the unfamiliar and intellectual uncertainty. Freud, with some
opposition to Jentsch s investigation, took it further from what Jentsch concluded. Freud
theorizes that the uncanny is that class of terrifying which leads back to something long
known to us, once very unfamiliar. (Freud, 1) Coraline by Neil Gaiman as well Harry Potter by
J.K Rowling include examples of both Freud and Jentsch s concept of the uncanny .
Firstly, the etymology of the word uncanny is informative. In English, its etymology is
straightforward. The meaning of the word is like the antithesis of heimlich...meaning familiar ,
native , belonging to home . (Freud, 2) To be canny is to be good at dealing with things.
Contrary to canny, uncanny are things which we can not comprehend or believe. To us humans,
many things are frightening, yet familiar: spiders, snakes, height, failure, loss of loved ones,
driving, etc. These are not uncanny because we understand loss, discomfort, and death. When we
are faced with these situations we know why we are frightened, but that

The Emotional Development Of Young Children
The emotional development in young children plays a very important role throughout their lives
especially in their education. From birth to about eight years of age, children are learning the
meaning behind each emotion and how to appropriately use them to express themselves. Erik
Erikson, psychologist, created an 8 socioemotional stage development theory explaining what skills
were being developed at certain ages. Parental monitoring is important during childhoodto
determine their emotional progress to catch any delays or disabilities developing. Positive
nurturing will create a more positive outcome in their education. Also how the effects of
bullying and child maltreatment can lead to an poor outcome in your child s educational
success. Erik Erikson, a German psychologist created an eight stage socioemotional development
theory about early childhood development. Each stage shows what emotions and characteristics
are being developed during each age of a child s life. Stage 1, trust vs mistrust; occurs from
infancy to 2 years of age. As a baby you must learn to trust that your mother or caregiver will feed
and take care of you until you are able to do so yourself. Stage 2, autonomy vs shame; usually
occurs between 18 months to 2 years and 3 and a half to 4 years of age. Stage 3 is initiative vs
guilt; occurs around 3 and a half years of age. Stage 4 is industry vs inferiority by this time the
child is mastering social studies, math, arithmetics. This occurs during

Eusebius s Expository Essay
Eusebius emphasizes the importance of academic study for effective pastoral care and defense of
the community both within, and outside of the community. I wonder if this may have been a
response to widespread suspicion among other Christians of the philosophical and esoteric brand
of Christianity that seems to have been quite prevalent in 4th century Alexandria and Caesarea.
His insistence on the concrete value of intellectual pursuits is in part to rehabilitate his heritage
and connection to Origen. It may also be a response in part due to what Eusebius would call elite
prejudice against the isolated philosopher. However, as Origen s attitude toward the leadership of
the church had evolved from that of Clement of Rome, Eusebius attempts to take a step or two
beyond Origen. Eusebius both does justice to his heritage in Origen, while shaping it into his 4th
century rhetoric and ideology of legitimate authority. For Origen, the free obedience of the student
to the teacher was vital, and Eusebius does not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Explain Why Is It Important To Check Surfboard Fins
Why is it important to check surfboard fins before selecting your surfboard? There are different
parts involved in making a surfboard but the most essential of all is the surfboard fin. This is the
part which controls the movement of board on the wave. This is much more like a rudder of a
boat which is used to stabilize and steer the surfboard according to the wave direction. The future
fins are fixed on surfboards to prevent surfers from spinning in circles while riding on the wave.
This enables the surfer to travel and slide on the wave under a controlled path. Thus, the

A Common Technique Used By John Updike
A common technique used by authors throughout literature is the growth of the main character into
their own. From the maturation of a selfish soul into a triumphant hero, or the rise of a shunned
underdog into a loved champion, authors have create situations for their characters that teach
readers a significant life lesson about the world we live in. For example, John Updike s Sammy
from A P and Flannery O Connor s Grandmother from A Good Man is Hard to Find
both receive
wake up calls from the respective antagonists of their stories. They are put in high stress situations
where their morals and beliefs are pushed to the limit. Both O Connor and Updike utilized the high
stress situations to make the readerquestion their own beliefs; therefore, causing the readers to
empathize with the main characters. Sammy and the Grandmother experience unique situations
that force them to question their way of thinking; however, those lessons are not restricted to
them, but also lessons everyone has to learn. John Updike does a great job of creating a
character in Sammy that young boys are able to relate to, and then making him mature due to a
shocking realization about the real world. Like most teenage boys, he is sarcastic and
opinionated, but Sammy sets himself apart by being oddly observant. The mundane routine of his
boring bag boy job is turned upside down when the three girls around his age walk in. He
immediately takes notice and starts to pick apart every detail about the trio.

Dante’s Inferno in Milton´s Paradise Lost
Many arguments have been made that Dante s Inferno glimmers through here and there in Milton s
Paradise Lost. While at first glance the two poems seem quite drastically different in their portrayal
of Hell, but scholars have made arguments that influence from Dante shines through Milton s work
as well as arguments refuting these claims. All of these arguments have their own merit and while
there are instances where a Dantean influence can be seen throughout Paradise Lost, Milton s
progression of evil and Satan are quite different from Dante. Dante s influence on Milton is noted
by many scholars and is very apparent in several instances throughout Paradise Lost, however,

makes note of the fact that when Satan returns to Hell after successfully tempting Eve...he hears a
universal hiss as he and his crew transform into serpents which is clearly an allusion to that which
the thieves undergo in Cantos 24 and 25 of Dante s Inferno.
Other scholars agree that there is some flicker of Dante through Paradise Lost but argue that,

Hell and Satan are quite different.

Powerful, courageous, and fearless, stands Beowulf. As devastation enters Herot, Hrothgar has no

However there are two versions of this story, a movie and a poem that portray different views of
Anglo Saxon culture and today s culture. Although the Beowulfmovie and poem share many
similarities, the different portrayals of character personalities, religion, and gender roles reveal the

Lengerman and Niebrugge believed that female sociologists early focused on advocacy to
undercut their perceived importance because they were constantly being compared to the male

impossible for women to interact with men as professional equals in face to face relations (Pg.
16). When women were compared to men, they were seen to have a lack of authority , the less

Essay about Henry in Henry V
Henry in Henry V
The bishops refer to Henry in the first scene as a sudden scholar who can reason in divinity.
Canterbury says, The king is full of grace, and fair regard.
Ely quotes and a true lover of the holy church.
The two bishops, pretty much have the same view on Henry, they think highly of him.
Henry s past is described by Ely and Canterbury, the two bishops. Canterbury quotes,
Since his addiction was to cause vain,
His companies unletter d, rude, and shallow,
His hours filled with riots, banquets, sports;
And never noted in him any study,
And retirement any sequestration,
From open haunts and popularity.
Ely says, The strawberry grows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henry asks the archbishop if he feels that it is right to invade France. He questions the archbishop
asking him if his claim to the French throne is strong.
In this speech we hear the king asking the archbishop and in this speech he asks for one thing
above all else and that is for the archbishop to speak the truth through honesty, even if it s not what
the king wants to hear.
King Henry also asks of the law of Salic.
This is the law by which no claim can be made via the roots of a female relative, no female claim,
this shows us that the king takes war very seriously.
Reading this speech makes you realise that he does not want to rush things, he actually sees war as
a good thing.
Canterbury, involved in this speech begins his very long reply to the question. The answer is a very
interesting and intriguing, detailed speech.
Canterbury tells the king yes. He notifies the king, telling him that the law of Salic only applies to
the Salic land and that France it s self has no such restrictions to the throne.
Henry then really shows us his true characteristics of being a king.
King Henry is a master tactician of war and he realises that if he goes to France and leaves England
with no defences England would be exposing themselves for invasion, so he comes up with the idea

The Collapse Of Indymac Bank
The Collapse of IndyMac Bank
In 2008 the world faced the worst financial crisis since the great depression. Many banks closed
their doors for good that year. Among them were both small and large banks. One specific bank
that collapsed that year was IndyMac, one of the largest banks in the United States. IndyMac
marked the largest collapse of a Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insured institution
since 1984, when Continental Illinois, which had $40 billion in assets, failed, according to FDIC
records ( The Fall of IndyMac 2008). This paper will talk about the cause of the collapse of
IndyMac in 2008, the handling of the issues, as well as the aftermath of the collapse. IndyMac was
created by David Loeb and Angelo Mozilo in 1985 and was originally called Countrywide Mortgage
Investment. It was built to collect Countrywide Financial loans that were too large to be sold to
Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. IndyMac Bank was the largest savings and loan association in the
Los Angeles area and the seventh largest mortgage originator in the United States ( Too Good to
Be True: The Fall of IndyMac , 2008). In 1999, IndyMac loaned out record amounts. In the first
quarter alone IndyMac loaned out $1.6 billion. In July of 2000, IndyMac became IndyMac Bank
when it acquired SGV Bancorp. The total purchase cost was $62.5 million and it made IndyMac
Bank the ninth largest bank at the time. IndyMac was also the 28th biggest lender in the country(

For data gathering, a communication study was used in the form of a survey. Ex post facto
extent of control was used since Penton Media can t change the results and have to report the
results they receive. The purpose was chosen as a reporting study as they are compiling data and
providing a summary of the survey results. This study s time frame is cross sectional with a
survey being sent out once for the formal results. The topical scope is statistical because it wants
to compare characteristics and draw conclusions. Field conditions were used in this study because
there is no change in the surveyor s environment. Finally, the participant s perceptions are not
changed and they are aware of the research being conducted. Strengths The strength of this study is
in the ex post facto design where Penton Media has to report from the survey results. There is no
way that Penton Media can change or modify the results so this makes the research more reliable
and dependable. Another strength is that the participant s environment and perceptions aren t
changed or affected. This makes for more honest and trustworthy results. Weaknesses A
communication study is great for the research question that Penton Media is trying to answer.
However, they could also get more data from their advertisers. Since many companies keep a

When we define abnormal behavior we must keep in mind that normal differs from culture to

Abigail Adams Book Critique In the novel, Abigail Adams: A Revolutionary American Woman,
Charles Akers portrays the life of a strong, revolutionary woman named Abigail Adams. She was
known as the first lady of the United States under John Adams and she played an indirect role in
influencing the American Revolution. She is called one of the founders of the country for her
revolutionary thinking and her being a rights activist. Abigail Adamsfaced many hardships
throughout her life. She was the daughter of a minister and had two sisters and a brother. In the
1700 s, children did not have a high survival rate due to the amount of diseases and nothing to
treat them with. Abigail Adams said in her old age that she was always sick (Akers 5). This
reminds people how tough life was in the 1700 s and how easy it was to pass away from a mere
cold. Abigail also did not have any education growing up. Women, in the colonial era, were not
supposed to have an education and were supposed to watch the kids, cook, and clean. Readers of
this book learn that many women back then were illiterate and were self taught, if they had any
education. Abigail did find a love for literature due to her sister s spouse, Richard Cranch. He
influenced her love for literature at a young age and she started to become more literate. Along with
the disease and educational deficiency, women were considered as property. A young womancould

Examples Of Funny Memories With Anton
Funny memories with Anton (True Story)
By Richard Nata
My best friend named Antonius, we used to call him by the name of Anton. Anton, I ll always
remember funny stories with you.
No day without laughing while studying together Anton. We both had some physical similarity,
namely Chinese, handsome, thin, short, bespectacled and love to make people laugh. We fell
together because there was an oil spill on the road so that the motorcycle was driven Anton fell on
the road. When falling, we feel like the riders are being dropped in circuit racing. Our downfall on
the road no less intense with the fall of Valentino Rossion the racing circuit. People shout to see us

So, we went home before the game ended.
The next day, Anton told me, yesterday really happen real fights between the participants of the
game. I really regret not being able to see a real fight. I can only imagine the fight was like a story
in the movie The Karate Kid.
When did I ask how the end results? Anton tells if they won the game. But after the game is
finished, then their Dojo fight with others Dojo elsewhere.
The question now is if I and Anton still there, whether both of us will be beaten like in the movie
The Karate Kid? Due to the shots of the two of us which caused the match to be the hot
atmosphere. I also do not know the answer. :)
There are still a lot of stories about me and Anton is not told here due to the limited number of
words. To date I will never forget has had a friend named Antonius because we have experienced no
day without laughing while still in college with him.
Anton now lives and works in Sydney, Australia. While I lived in Tangerang, Indonesia.

A Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. In this extract we are presented with Scrooge. From the
beginning Scrooge is presented as a miser. In the extract we find out that he is an old, rude and
ignorant man that doesn t appreciate others around him. Dickens uses different language
techniques to describe Scrooges appearance as clear as possible. In the opening paragraph
Dickens uses imagery to create a vivid impression of Scrooge. He is described as a tight fisted
hand at the grind stone , and this metaphor suggests that Scrooge works hard for his money but is
very tight with his money. In the opening lines Dickens includes similes. Hard and sharp as a flint.

Dickens has used verbs used as adjectives when describing Scrooge such as stiffened his gait .
The effect of these words makes the reader focus on it more and because it s a long list the
reader gets a clear definition of what Scrooge looks like. The adjectives that Dickens uses aren t
describing him as being a nice person, from these adjectives you can tell that he is an old and
miserable character. Dickens focuses on temperature, when doing this he emphasises how cold
hearted Scrooge really is. No warmth could warm, no wintry weather could cool him. This
shows the reader that Scrooge is as cold as he could ever be and nothing can change him.
Dickens also uses a pathetic fallacy, he uses the weather to describe Scrooges character. The
heaviest rain, and snow, and hail, and sleet, could boast of the advantage over him in only one
respect. Dickens uses the harshest weather to describe him, showing the reader how horrible of a
man Scrooge is, using a pathetic fallacy clearly shows the reader how important Scrooges
personality is throughout the book. From this extract the reader knows that Scrooge is a negative
character. Straight away we know that he has a negative impact on others. Nobody ever stopped
him in the street to say, with gladsome looks, My dear Scrooge, how are you? This dialogue never
actually happened, this shows that the other characters in the book are too afraid to acknowledge

Field Study on Helping Behavior
Abstract
The aim of this field study was to examine helping behavior among passerbies in crowded and
non crowded areas. The study was carried out in an informal manner where the actor would lie
down in the given areas, and the observers would record the amount of people who stopped to
help or enquire. Due to the concept of the study, the passerby s were the indirect participants and
the objective of the study was discreetly disclosed to each passerby who bent down to offer
assistance. Results showed that people tend to show more concern and interest in a less crowded
area.

Gradually, people will tend to feel less and less responsible for their actions towards other
individuals especially those whom they do not know (Levine, 2003).
Other than that, F. Stephen Bridges and Neil P. Coady(1996) carried out a study on helpfulness
using a technique called lost letters where 420 lost, stamped letters were dropped carefully and
equally in shop isles, besides public pay phones and sidewalks across Broward County in
Florida. A total of 210 letters were dropped in the cities and the remaining 210 in smaller towns
across the county, as the aim was to find out which location had a higher return rate of letters.
The envelopes consisted of addresses of two normal addresses addressed to B. J. Wilson (control
group) and Dandee Wilson as well as three social deviant addresses which were Prostitute
Education , Legalized Prostitution , and Safer Hustling . However, out of the 420 letters that were
scattered across the county, only 199 were mailed back from both the locations combined. The
results took an unexpected twist and showed that there was a larger figure of return rates from the
cities in contrast to the small towns (Bridges amp; Coady, p. 309).
The hypothesis is that passerby s would portray more helping attitudes and behaviors in non
crowded areas and would appear to be less helpful in crowded settings. This is in line with the
research conducted by Lattane and Dabbs (1975), suggesting that there is a correlation between the
amount

A Brief Note On An Accidental Racial War
An Accidental Racial War.
An accidental fight started at school to where no parties were at fault until a circle was formed
around us showing all the students that I am white and she is black. The school was enjoying a
festival watching a talent show when a girl behind me accidently spilled her nachos on to my head,
this may have started a fight against many students primarily of opposite races and I was to blame.
I went to a public Junior High School in Long beach, CA. This was a very culturally diversified
school; the students had their clicks, as most students would call them. This is typically groups
of people of the same interests: jocks, nerds, rebels, hippies and groups of the same racial
background: African American, Caucasian, Filipino, Korean, Hispanic, or Samoan. The whole
school was treated to a festival with good food, music, games and a talent show showcasing
student performers. Some of the performers played instruments, acted out dramas, or danced.
The festival was outside in the food court area, where we typically have lunch. It was a warm
day and I was sitting by myself in a crowd of students watching the talent show. My legs were
crossed on the floor, however, feeling a bit bored I decided to wrap the straps of my backpack
around my legs tangling them. The talent show was coming to an end and the DJ started to play
some music.
When all of a sudden, the teacher announced on the microphone anyone wants to come up on
stage!? The crowd jumped up and ran

The Roaring 20 s Essay examples
The Roaring Twenties In the 1920 s, America was evolving into a fun, carefree, and entertaining
country or so many people thought. On the outside, many people observed Americans with
prosperity, lavish lives, and new opportunities through new technology and inventions. However,
although America seemed to be well off at the time and enjoying life, it was only a slight cover up.
Inside the country, there was turmoil which included debt and war. For this reason, America earned
the reputation of the 1920 s as the Roaring Twentiesdue to the positive outcomes of the economic
conditions, developments in the arts, and developments in entertainment. In the economic world,

With music being able to spread around the country, jazz music became extremely popular. Many
people met in clubs to dance to the new popular music. Motion pictures were also perfected and
people could now see movies with sound such as The Jazz Singer in 1927. Sporting events also
became popular in the 1920s. Stadiums were crowded to see baseball stars such as Babe Ruth and
Lou Gehrig. Arenas also filled for fighting events and boxers such as Jack Dempsey, a
heavyweight champion. As one can see, the American began spoiling himself and indulged in
entertainment. The arts in the 1920s helped earn the Roaring Twenties its name because it began a
revolution. The Harlem Renaissance made black poets, singers, and musicians very popular. With
the radio now being used, it was easier to promote their talents countrywide. Through the writings
of African Americans such as Langston Hughes, the white American discovered the nation
according to the black man. African Americans also made Jazz music very popular. With the
easygoing and smooth listening feel, Americans began to dance to the music of Jazz musicians
such as Handy Jelly Roll Morton and Joe King Oliver. In later years, the 1920s would not only be
known as The Roaring Twenties, but would be recognized as the Jazz Age. In closing, America was
changing into an outgoing and enjoyable country. The inventions of time saving machines

The first of these women pilots was Marina Raskova who was referred as the Russian Amelia Earhart and she was the first woman to become a navigator in the Soviet Air Force in 1933. When World War II started Raskova used her personal connections with Joseph Stalin to convince the military to form three combat regiments for women since before women who tried to become pilots usually had their applications rejected and there were attempts to keep them from seeing combat. • 4. Humor of South Park Essay Manbearpig: Half Man, Half Bear, Half Pig, but All Global Warming? South Park is a popular animated comedy series written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. While the episodes of South Park are always humorous on the surface, each show usually has a deeper, much more profound meaning and moral. One episode of South Park entitled Manbearpig, named after the monster in the episode, has a particularly potent deeper meaning. On the surface, the episode pokes fun at monster stories, politics, and specifically Al Gore. Deeper down, however, this monster story can be read as a national allegory alluding to the dangers of global warming, the problems with the politics behind global warming, and the eventual doom we will all face if we do nothing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Al Gore tells the student body that he is there to warn them about the single biggest threat to human existence, a horrible monster named Manbearpig. Al Gore further goes on to describe the monster s appearance. He states that Manbearpig is half man, half bear, and half pig (South Park). This pokes fun at the typical monster in literature. The impossible ratio of man, bear, and pig shows how monsters can be considered scary regardless of how ridiculous they may actually be when analyzed literally. While Manbearpig is not necessarily intended to be scary to the audience of South Park, it is intended to be scary to the students by Al Gore. In fact, the attributes of Manbearpig are similar to those of many different monsters throughout literature. Manbearpig is a creature that is a mixture of man and animal. This is a characteristic attributable to many monsters in literature. For example, the werewolf addresses this same fear about crossing line between man and animal. Man animal Strauss 2 hybrid monsters are scary because they can have the intellect of man but an animalistic nature. They are also unnatural and present the question of where they originated. Additionally, man animal hybrid monsters are scary because they imply that a human can become part animal. This is, it may be possible, either willingly or unwillingly, to become a man animal hybrid. • 6. Argumentative Essay On Drug Addiction One Friday night, Dan decided to go out with his friends to a party. He was nice, and hardworking guy, but that night he made the decision that changed his life. He decided to inhale cocaine because all his friends were pressuring him to do it. After that day, he felt the need of inhaling more drugs. He would look around the house and inhale hairspray, nail polish remover, and anything calms him down. Months passed, he was addicted to inhaling drugs. One day, he felt nauseous and fainted. His worried family rushed him to the hospital. His blood flow was reduced, and if he was not rushed to the hospital, he would have been dead. Many people believe that drugs are for fun and will make them feel better. Nonetheless, drugaddictionis pernicious because of death and family problems. Many people believe drug addiction is a brain disease but it is a choice made by people. The article, Addiction is a choice, states addiction is a behavior thus clearly intended by an individual person. When people are offered or pressured to do drugs, they have the right to walk away or deny, but many choose to do it just to prove that they are brave. In the article why do children experiment with illegal drugs, one of the main reason why young people use drugs is the influence of peer pressure, the presumption being that adolescent is pressured into taking drugs by their drug using friends (McIntosh)? With this reason, many teens are more likely to do more drugs because next time they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Politics Of The United States Essay With the 2016 election coming up in less than a month, political issues such abortion, immigration, and other hot topics have come to the forefront of the political discussions. However, there is one issue yet to be settled that has not recently seen the spotlight of the political battle. The issue of allowing felons or prisoners the right to vote has been pushed to the backburner as new political debates arise such as foreign policy, therefore preventing the debate from ever reaching a conclusive decision. The practice of not allowing prisoners to vote has been instated before the creation of the United States, and is characterized as a traditional practice deriving from early Greek and Roman governments. Nevertheless, the United States adopted this tradition through the formulation of the fourteenth amendment. This amendment states in section two, ...or the members of the legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such state, being twenty one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty one years of age in such state (Cornell Law, 2008). • 9. Essay On Jaws Research Paper Googe 1 Avery Googe ENC 1101 Professor Alling April 19, 2015 Jaws When most of the world hears the iconic song from the movie Jaws, their mind automatically shifts to images of giant sharks and severed limbs. Thanks to the film, many people boycotted beaches and mothers strictly kept their children away from open waters; triggering a massive cloud of fear and ignorance that would consume most, if not all, of the world. Jaws coated the general public s perception of sharks with a curtain of blood and fear, vilifying them for decades to come. With the films debut in 1975, it kick started a tidal wave of mass hysteria and paranoia, and as a result the public s attitudes on sharks plummeted as fast and as deep as the titanic. Not many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While most people were gathering their torches and sharpening their pitch forks, set on destroying the oceans equivalent of a troll, those of a different nature began to group together and invest countless amounts of time and money to learn more about them. In the wake of Jaws, a whole constellation of dedicated shark research programs were begun or renewed. This resulted in numerous scientific conferences to allow researchers to share their results and collaborate on more ambitious projects. Rather than putting their prime focus on shark attacks, these meetings concentrated on shark systematics, physiology, life history, ecology, fisheries management and conservation. It is doubtful that this much fascination, be it fearful or curious, and funding would have had been available to support modern shark research had it not been for Jaws. In fact, Authors Nancy Knowlton, and Wend Benchly, states in an article on Smithsonian.com called, The State of Sharks, 40 years after, that Rules and policies were designed to protect sharks includes shark sanctuaries, banning of shark fining (the taking of just the valuable fins and discarding the often still living shark), prohibitions on selling and shipping of shark products and changes in fishing gear that reduce the likelihood of sharks being caught by mistake. • 10. Childhood Memories And Its Effects On Our Lives We each have memories, both from long ago and recent times, that we hold dear to us. Memories get us through the hard days and keep us chipper in the good ones. The past is what makes us who we are. It shapes how we act, how we treat others, and simply just what we do on a day to day basis. Memories are the little things that keep this world running smoothly. Imagine what it would be like to lose those memories. What if you were to forget things to the point you were losing your functionality? Every 67 seconds another person in the US falls victim to this disease (www.alz.org). They may remember childhood memories, but forgot where they put the cheese they bought yesterday. As the disease gets worse and worse, they may wander and even forget people they care deeply about and those they interact with daily. Who are these people, and what is the it they are suffering from? These are people suffering from Alzheimers Disease, affecting 5 million individuals in the United States alone. Alzheimers Disease is a type of dementia, a more general term meaning a decline in someone s mental ability, to the point of affecting their everyday life. Alzheimers is actually the most common form, afflicting about 80% of dementia patients. • 11. Essay On Landlords Saving Drains From Tenant Tyranny: 10 Ways Landlords Can Keep Their Plumbing Clog Free Owning rental property can be rewarding and lucrative, but it can sometimes be one headache after another, especially if tenants misuse or abuse your apartments. Clogged pipes are one instance where being a landlord can literally drain your time and money to no end. Here are 10 helpful ways to avoid that mess, once and for all. 1. Specify Who Is Responsible For Clogs In The Lease You should include a clause in the lease your tenants sign, indicating if they or you will be responsible for drain cleaning and clogs. Failure to include this information will likely leave you on the hook every time a slight issue arises with drains. Be sure to read this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This preventative action, too, will work in your favor if the next tenant tries to complain that persistent clogging is a result of your inaction. 4. Stock Up On Drain Screens For Your Tubs Drain screens are cheap and easy to store and while you don t want to make a habit of buying things your tenants should be buying themselves, having extra screens on hand may be worthwhile if doing so prevents those annoying and often time consuming clogs. You could limit the number of free screens you provide each tenant, but since you can t force them to buy their own, giving them away will likely save you money and time in the long run. 5. • 13. Analysis Of Black Hair By Gary Soto Black Hair by Gary Soto is a three stanza, free verse poem that observes the life of a young Mexican boy and his admiration for Hector Moreno, a Mexican baseball figure. The speaker is immediately identified as the young boy as he starts to reminisce about when he was eight years old. The boy goes on to talk about how he thought of himself at this age, as well as Hector and his parents. He would watch the baseball games and look up to Hector, copying him, and addressing how this win for Hector would be a win for him and all the brown people . The audience isn t addressed as a literal part of the poem, so we can imagine it from a bird s eye point of view. To follow, I will explore the ways in which the author chose to deliver his message and which tools make this successful from the audience s perspective. An immediate choice I notice from the author is his selective diction. Soto uses a lot of strong diction like dirty, torch, terror, flared, and twisting, but none captivate the character as well as when he uses the word brilliant . When Soto uses the word brilliant in stanza one and three, he does not mean to say intelligent or excellent. Instead, Soto uses this word to mean something more with a literal and physical meaning, like how he states towards the end of the poem, In the bleachers I was brilliant with my body/Waving players in and stomping my feet (Soto 21 22), connecting it to the body and its actions. This brings the character alive and gives the boy a feeling of acceptance and power, connecting him with the community and success he was becoming a part of. Soto s diction led me to notice the radiance this word gave the boy, which exposed the theme of lightness and darkness, symbolizing the child s journey through hope. The ... We studied different authors and their writing styles, as well as different eras including the Harlem Renaissance. The thing that set this class apart from the rest was the use of multimedia in the class. This included the weekly voice threads, the live videos each class period, and the multimedia projects throughout the semester. This was my favorite part of the class. I loved how the professor didn t just want us to express our opinions of the literature in projects, but he wanted us to express our opinions in the most creative ways. • 26. Comparison Of Freud And Jentsch s Concept Of The Uncanny In 1919, Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, published his own psychological investigation on the notion of uncanny. Previous studies were conducted on this subject by the German psychologist Ernst Anton Jentsch, and served as the starting point for Freud s analysis. However, the feeling of uncanny was not an easy concept to identify. Jentsch concluded that it fits in the area of the fear of the unfamiliar and intellectual uncertainty. Freud, with some opposition to Jentsch s investigation, took it further from what Jentsch concluded. Freud theorizes that the uncanny is that class of terrifying which leads back to something long known to us, once very unfamiliar. (Freud, 1) Coraline by Neil Gaiman as well Harry Potter by J.K Rowling include examples of both Freud and Jentsch s concept of the uncanny . Firstly, the etymology of the word uncanny is informative. In English, its etymology is straightforward. The meaning of the word is like the antithesis of heimlich...meaning familiar , native , belonging to home . • 31. A Common Technique Used By John Updike A common technique used by authors throughout literature is the growth of the main character into their own. From the maturation of a selfish soul into a triumphant hero, or the rise of a shunned underdog into a loved champion, authors have create situations for their characters that teach readers a significant life lesson about the world we live in. For example, John Updike s Sammy from A P and Flannery O Connor s Grandmother from A Good Man is Hard to Find both receive wake up calls from the respective antagonists of their stories. They are put in high stress situations where their morals and beliefs are pushed to the limit. Both O Connor and Updike utilized the high stress situations to make the readerquestion their own beliefs; therefore, causing the readers to empathize with the main characters. Sammy and the Grandmother experience unique situations that force them to question their way of thinking; however, those lessons are not restricted to them, but also lessons everyone has to learn. John Updike does a great job of creating a character in Sammy that young boys are able to relate to, and then making him mature due to a shocking realization about the real world. Like most teenage boys, he is sarcastic and opinionated, but Sammy sets himself apart by being oddly observant. While at first glance the two poems seem quite drastically different in their portrayal of Hell, but scholars have made arguments that influence from Dante shines through Milton s work as well as arguments refuting these claims. All of these arguments have their own merit and while there are instances where a Dantean influence can be seen throughout Paradise Lost, Milton s progression of evil and Satan are quite different from Dante. She is called one of the founders of the country for her revolutionary thinking and her being a rights activist. Abigail Adamsfaced many hardships throughout her life. Dickens focuses on temperature, when doing this he emphasises how cold hearted Scrooge really is. No warmth could warm, no wintry weather could cool him. This shows the reader that Scrooge is as cold as he could ever be and nothing can change him. Dickens also uses a pathetic fallacy, he uses the weather to describe Scrooges character.
