Boeing Based On My Real World Job With The Federal...
For this assignment, my decision to write about Boeing is based on my real world job with the Federal
Aviation Administration and the fact that I process pounds of mail from them on a weekly basis.
Company History
The story of Boeing started in a Seattle, WA shipyard in March 1910, but the company didn t get its
official start until July 1916. Throughout Boeing s history, it has been closely associated with military
aviation, through its early foray into air mail delivery eventually gave birth to United Airlines in 1934
(A Century in the Sky, 2015). Boeing aircraft and support of allied forces during World War II was a
key asset in bringing the war to a close and kept the skies in the Korean War clear. Its aviation

Finally in 2009, the 787, designed to be the most efficient aircraft ever, made its maiden flight
(Commercial Airplanes, 2015).
Competitors
Speaking strictly about the commercial airliner market, Boeing s only competitor is Airbus. Setting the
stage for the duopoly that was created, Rockwell International sold North American Aviation and
Rocketdyne to Boeing in 1996 and McDonnell Douglas was wholly absorbed in 1997 (The Boeing
Company History, 2000). Across the Atlantic, three of the four founding companies that comprised the
Airbus consortium (created in 1969) merged together to form the European Aeronautic Defense and
Space Company (EADS). In 2014, EADS was renamed as the Airbus Group, with Airbus (its airline
production arm) as a division of the group (Weiss).
Innovation and Performance Boeing maintains its competitive advantage and market share through
trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets obtained through steady research and development.
Even though the protection of intellectual property is important to Boeing, it routinely contacts and
licenses out the rights to various properties within its catalog (Jewell, 2014). Its newest aircraft
project, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, has more than 1,000 new patents that have the potential to have
major impacts on how Boeing builds and designs new aircraft in the years to come. In 2010, Boeing
was ranked

Relationship Between Consumer Sentiment And Adr Price Essay
These studies discussed above implicitly assume that the local and US investors have homogeneous
expectations about future prospects of all markets. However, in practice, different market conditions
can cause investors to generate differential risk perceptions. Some studies argue that investor
sentiment may augment to the price divergence between ADRs and their underlying stocks.
 Heterogeneous Investor Sentiment
Grossmann et al. (2007) perhaps is the first to investigate the relationship between consumer
sentiment and ADR price differences. Using a fixed effects panel data approach, they provide
evidence in support of the hypothesis that costly arbitrage factors influence ADR price differentials.
30 Moreover, they argue that sentiment could also help explain the mispricing of ADRs. Specifically,
they test whether consumer sentiment (measured by consumer sentiment indices) help to explain the
divergence between the prices of ADRs and that of their underlying assets. Their results suggest that
the more optimistic U.S. consumers are the lower the ADR premiums. Based on the findings, they
conclude that the prices of ADRs and that of the underlying stocks are more responsive to US
consumer sentiment as to the consumer sentiment of the country of origin.
Using a cross sectional panel data approach, Arquette et al. (2008) model the variations in ADR
discount as a function of expected changes in exchange rate expectations and differences in investor
sentiment.31 The sample

The Innocence of Daisy Miller Essay
In 1878, Henry James wrote, Daisy Miller, a novella about a young American girl and her travels in
Europe. Daisy Miller is a complex short story with many underlying themes such as appearance
versus reality, knowledge versus innocence, outward action versus inward meditation, and Nature
versus urbanity. In this short story, one is left to judge whether Daisy Miller, the main character of the
story, is a pretty American flirt or a misunderstood, modern young woman. By probing into the
complexities and contradictions of Daisy s character, it is obvious that Ms. Miller is merely a
misunderstood young woman.
Through his novel, Henry James shows his readers that the gap between what people believe to be true
and the actual truth can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He decides a pretty American flirt would be acceptable for him to know. Mainly he wants an excuse to
spend time with her. His desire for her to be innocent and undesigning reflects not only on her true
personality but also on his lust for her.
Mrs. Costello s character symbolizes old money and culture, even though she is American, and thus
sets up a stark contrast to Daisy Miller, a character devoid of much ritual or formality. Mrs. Costello
had lived much of her life in Europe and had kept a society so intentionally exclusive in America that
she has separated herself from any of the qualities associated with the innocence and natural
spontaneity of an American.
She believes the Miller s to be common and tells Winterbourne to stay away from them. However,
Daisy represents to Winterbourne what he lacks, standing as a metaphor of what all of Europe lacks,
as long as Daisy does not go too far with her social freedom.
Winterbourne is largely blinded to the honesty and innocence that Daisy imparts because he has
trouble recognizing a manner that has become foreign to him. Thus when Daisy walks calmly along
with both Giovanelli and Winterbourne in the Pincio and does not seem anxious to get rid of
Winterbourne, Winterbourne is perplexed (36 37). He does not realize that she does not know better
and she will ruin herself because of it.

Historical Development Of Play Research
In this assignment, I am going to explore the concept of play by investigating the historical
development of play, also considering the social and cultural aspects which has led to the appropriate
practice today. First of all, I m going to talk about why play is important.
The importance of play was recognised in the Children Act 2004 which sets out five outcomes within
the Every Child Matters (ECM) framework. These include being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and
achieving, making a positive contribution and economic wellbeing. There are various definitions of
play and playing.

Fantasy play was considered important to her and play as a whole was seen substantial to overall
development. She recognised the importance of a nurturing environment, which allows the children to
discover their interests with no fixed curriculum. As she believes in the emotional expression of play,
she believes play is an important part of children s lives at home as well as at placement, this is
accomplished through love and warmth to ensure stimulating opportunities in both settings. Isaacs
valued parents as the child s primary educators and believes this is why play should be interlinked
between the setting and home. Historically from the 1900 s to recent years, parents perceptions have
changed as they expect nursery settings to nurture and bring up the child rather than at home, this
shows have roles have changed over the years. However, on the other hand, Sara Smilansky s theory
focuses on a child s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development rather than just play,
which supports the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Part of the research carried out by
Smilansky focuses on cultural effects on play, she noticed that children from lower class backgrounds
took part in less dramatic play in comparison to those who were from a middle class background, she
believed the reason behind this

Comparing My Fair Lady And Miss Congeniality
In the world, there seems to be two levels of conflict. One conflict involves having a common war
shared among multiple individuals, and the other incorporates more personal issues. For instance,
many women across the globe feel inferior to men; however, some feel apt to change the way things
are or how they adapt to the situation. Some women are satisfied with how their lives are, but there are
some that will go the extra mile to see some fresh, new adjustments. In My Fair Lady and Miss
Congeniality, there seems to be evidence of intertextual elements intertwined within both films
through the aspects of character motives, conflicts, and setting. The characters of both films are
revealed by their words and actions. The characters Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins from
My Fair Lady seem to have obvious comparisons to Gracie Hart and Victor Melling from Miss
Congeniality. When looking at Eliza and Gracie, not only do they display the protagonist archetype,
but they also show how someone not so ladylike can be transformed into one of nature s most
beautiful creatures a lady. However, becoming a lady was a long, winding road with many bumps in
the way, yet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Eliza simply wants to speak properly so that she may be a lady in a flow r shop. Gracie, on the other
hand, desired to to be a lady only to fulfill her duties as an FBI agent. Additionally, Henry Higgins and
Victor Melling both battle with their trainees to reach and maintain their objectives. An individual can

Attention Hyperactive Deficit Disorder
You know how it feels when you re leaning back in your chair and it s just about to fall over? I feel
like that all the time! This is how a person affected with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
(ADHD) feels every day. ADHD refers to a family of related disorders that interfere with an individual

appropriate ways.
Some statistics: 75% people with ADD get divorced

They may blurt out things that they wouldn t have said if they thought about it beforehand, this could
be a very dangerous habit. Running out into the street without looking would be a mistake caused by
impulsivity.
Not everyone who is overly hyperactive, inattentive, or impulsive has an attention disorder. If most
people occasionally do all of these things than how do specialists assess whether a person has ADHD?
Specialists consider several critical questions to find an answer. Do these symptoms occur more often
than in other people the same age? Are they a continuous problem? Do the behaviors occur in several
settings or only in one specific place like the playground or office? The person s pattern of behavior is
compared to a set of criteria in a reference book called the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders.
ADHD Is Not Usually Caused by:

symptoms of inattention have persisted for at least 6 months to a degree that is maladaptive and

Diet Anyalsis Essay
Nutrition is the science that studies food and how food nourishes our body and influences our health.
In life, many people do a lot of daily events and activities that help them enjoy being who they are.
People may enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the mall, going to an amusement park or simply
finding relaxation in nature. However one vital part of everyones life is of eating and finding the right
way to do so. Eating is a very enjoyable and delectable for everyone but should be done so, like
everything in life, in a smart and intelligent way. Being smart and perceptive when eating is a large

I will have to begin eating more carrots, egg yolk, broccoli, cantaloupe and drinking milk while doing
so, to increase my vitamin A (RAE) percentage. For my vitamin E percentage, milk and egg yolk will
help but I can also increase my whole grain foods and eat some sunflower seeds and nuts to get it up
where it needs to be. For my lacking vitamin D percentage I need to seriously increase my fatty fish
intake which is not difficult, due to my love of fish. Whole egg and beef liver will also both help in
getting more vitamin D in my diet.
My calorie intake overall was quite low equaling one thousand. My recommended intake was two
thousand. This wouldn t be as much of an issue if I was getting adequate exercise to burn the excess
calories and the calories I was consuming were equal to the calories I was burning. To correct this
through I will be increasing my exercise by running and lifting weights and ultimately once I start
boxing for a good period of time. I just recently started so Im looking forward to the improvements I
can make of that. Additionally I will need to watch high calorie foods and decrease my calorie intake
substantially.
Understanding that my body needs a certain number of calories to function at its prime, I realize that
when I do not eat enough, I can hurt my metabolism, lean tissue and weight management efforts. So I
made sure I

A Hero Is A Hero
What if you were trapped in a burning building with nobody to come and save you? People need
heroes. Whether you are being robbed or your house is on fire, you need a hero. There is a reason that
heroes are so liked, needed, and wanted in our modern world. It s because heroes instill order where
there is chaos by having the kindness to do something that s right, like stand up to a bully, but also by
having the kindness to do something like rescue a cat from a tree.
The first thing that anybody needs when trying to be a hero is courage to do something right. A hero
has to have the courage to do something that is right no matter how hard or how big the task really is.
The man in the water is a good example of this because Lenny Skutnik didn t hesitate for a split
second about jumping into the water to save that lady and the man that was in the water didn t hesitate
about passing on the life preserver. It s something I never thought I would do referring to his jumping
into the water to drag an injured woman to shore... somebody had to go in the water (pg 12 Man in the
Water). He jumped in the water to save someone because he knew that it was the right thing to do and
he had the courage to do it. Every time they lowered a lifeline and floating ring to him he passed it on
to another of the passengers. (pg 12 Man in the Water). The man in the water also had the courage to
do what was right because even though he knew he would probably die, he wanted the others to live
which takes a tremendous amount of courage. Whale Tale is also a good example for this because
Michael Fishbach risked everything, life and boat, to help a humpback whale. He swam into the water
with the humpback whale that was tangled up in the net knowing all to well that he could die from one
frantic movement and that is the courage that makes him a hero, he also was cutting the net off of the
whale and had to let it tow him around knowing that it could tip over the boat in an instant and that is
why he is recognized as a hero and that is because he had the courage to do something right while
knowing that he and his crew could have died. In order to believe in yourself as a hero and in order to
be recognized as a hero you have to

La Belle Dame Sanns Merci
Comparative poetry essay based on the three poems La Belle Dame Sans Merci by John Keats, Sonnet
116 by William Shakespeare and My Last Duchess by Robert Browning
Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words . Poetry is a language of art where one is free to
express his feelings without hesitation. Love is a strong and significant emotion that we feel in our
lives at some point that helps us understand our emotions and interpret the world around us. When
expressed in poetry, love can have a lot of meaning and convey a very useful message to the reader.
However, love, being such a powerful emotion, can also be potentially damaging and dangerous.
Contrasting types of love have been revealed in various ways by the three poets in ... Show more

They aimed to obtain a simplistic lifestyle while rejecting industrialism which inspired the setting of
the poem which is located near the sedge. The sedge wither d from the lake. The word sedge creates
an imagery of greenery in the reader s mind which suggests that the environment is peaceful and quiet
with a nature filled aroma. In addition, The squirrel s granary is full, and the harvest s done suggests
that the stanza closes with references to the natural world the squirrel s granary and the harvest serves
as a reminder that winter is just one part of the seasonal cycle, perhaps the final days where life s
meaning begins to slip away, this is associated with the feelings of the knight in La Belle . There is
perhaps a hint here that the knight s suffering is of his own making. There is great emphasis on Keats
use of the cold hillside in La Belle Dame Sans Merci perhaps suggesting how every joyous moment
eventually ends. This is also seen in another poem called The Eve of Saint Agnes where For aye
unsought for slept among his ashes cold. Symbolism of coldness is significant and recurring in his
poems which is similar to La Belle Dame Sans Merci stating The latest dream I ever dreamt. The
poem Sonnet 116 was written during the Elizabethan era in 1609 by William Shakespeare who had a
very modern view of marriage and relationships inclusive of couples and lovers who were seen by him
as more or less equal and believed that people generally married for love. Shakespeare mentions in
Sonnet 116 that Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, but bears it out even to the edge of
doom which suggests that love is a powerful emotion and when two lovers are really in love, they will
do whatever it takes to keep their relationship strong and love will not change over time but will last
until death. In

Analysis Of Matthew 22 s The Kingdom Of Heaven
Why do you suppose Jesus mentions what this man was wearing? Listen to me, everything that Jesus
says and does in the New Testament is very important! Whatever the garment is that this man has on is
a social faux pas to the celebration that he has been invited to. The rest of the parable is pretty
straightforward as Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of heaven is like... Remember
at the beginning of the parable, we are told that the first group that was invited to the wedding, refused
to attend. When the King heard about it, he was furious, and he sent out his armies, destroyed those
murderers, and burned up their city, Matthew 22:7 8 NKJV. The King then declared an open invitation
to everyone to attend the marriage of his son.
The parable in Matthew 22 is a profound teaching. It shows that the invitation to salvation is the same
as receiving an invitation to the wedding of the Messiah. That is why the garment that the one man
had on was such an irritation to the King. It was not so much what the man was wearing per se. It was
a heart issue! The apostle John tells us the significance of wedding garments in Revelation 19. And I
heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of
mighty thunderings saying: Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice
and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And
to her it was granted to be

Evaluating the Main Theories of Counselling Essay
This essay will attempt to highlight and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the three main
theories of counselling within the module covered this term. The three approaches in discussion are
psychodynamics, cognitive behavioural and humanistic.
The psychodynamic theory originated from Sigmund Freud, a medical doctor and philosopher (1856
1939) founded in the 1900s. Freud developed his ideas whilst working as a psychiatrist in Vienna,
collecting information from his patients such as feelings, thoughts and early childhood experiences.
The psychodynamic theory focuses on the unconscious mind. Freud s credence is that different mental
forces operate in the mind. The unconscious mind can be described as being like an iceberg. ... Show

The Id is the unconscious state of mind; it is responsible for our voluptuous and immediate
satisfaction. It is our basic drives such as life instincts (Eros) and death instincts (Thantos); it is also
responsible for our libido (sexual instinct).
The Ego is the conscious state, the rational mind which organises our thoughts and makes sense of
them. This develops during the first two years of life.
The Super Ego aims for perfection, it works in contradiction to the Id. It controls our sense of right
and wrong.
Part of Freud s theory was that the Id, Ego and Super Ego were in constant conflict with each other. It
involves the Id wanting immediate satisfaction and the super ego who wants the id/person to behave
leaving the ego constantly trying to resolve the issue.
The Ego uses a number of defence mechanisms to protect itself; these mechanisms are designed to
reduce anxiety and stress. Some defence mechanisms include; repression, displacement, projection,
denial and intellectualisation.
Techniques used by Psychodynamic therapists consist of; dream therapy (making sense of dreams and
interpretation into reasons behind them), hypnosis and free association.
While most psychodynamic theories did not rely on experimental research the methods and theories of
psychodynamic thinking contributed to experimental psychology.
Psychodynamic Therapy was the first therapy used in attempting to explain mental illness and has had

Labeling Deviant Behavior Essay
Introduction: Have you ever experienced a time when your parents called you a genius and you truly
felt like one? How about when a professor pointed fingers at you because he thought you were
cheating on a test? Most certainly you felt some type of shame or guilt; or probably got so tired of
your colleagues negative thoughts that you decided to embrace it and just go along with it. These are
just a few examples of the impact that people s opinions or thoughts can have on your reputation.
Think for a second about the Stanford Prison Experiment, which demonstrates the influential role that
a situation can play in human behavior. The individuals chosen to perform as guards were placed in a
position of power and thus they began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Labeling theorists suggest that labeling individuals as deviant has the potential of becoming a self
fulfilling prophecy (Globokar, 2008). Howard Becker has described deviance as a consequence of the
application by others of rules and sanctions to an offender ; the deviant is one to whom the label has
successfully been applied; deviant behavior is behavior people so label (Clinard Meier, 2011:89).
Culture, sex, age and other elements of identity all shape self conception, but the meanings that an
individual places on various circumstances and interactions certainly play a very important role as
well. It becomes difficult to normally interact with others once there is a negative impact of an
individual s reputation and the conception and expectations of others reinforces that reputation. I am
very familiar with the effect that labeling can have on a person. My uncle in Cuba is a great example
of what labeling can do to your persona. I grew up very close to him and remember always going on
trips and he would play around with all the time; to me he was the greatest uncle in the world. One
day I heard a comment that slipped out of the mouth of some friends and they referred to my uncle as
a thief or ratero . It appeared that my uncle due to the need of food decided to borrow a chicken from a
neighbor s backyard; got caught and from there he obtained a new reputation. I

Explain The Importance Of Working Together When Working...
All practitioners and professionals working with children can complete a common assessment at any
time for a child they work with. CAF was introduced to provide practitioners with children with an
assessment tool that any frontline worker such as someone working in education, health, children s
social care and housing can use. The CAF is specific to England but the same approach of working
together is recommended in all the countries of the United Kingdom. The aim of the CAF is to ensure
assessment is timely and holistic and that children with a range of needs do not have repeat referrals to
and assessments by a number of agencies, which could cause unacceptable delays to the child s chance
of receiving services. CAF is normally completed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

support families, in order to improve parenting to a safe standard. All practitioners involved with
children have a role. A child s key person could arrange to meet the parents and the health visitor for
example to discuss the extent to which a child is healthy, safe from harm, learning and developing
well, socialising and making positive relationships with others and not significantly impaired by the
effects of poverty. This type of meeting is called Team Around the Child (TAC). There is a pre
assessment checklist for the CAF which early years practitioners can consult before calling such a
meeting. Meetings like this and the process of drawing up a CAF are voluntary. Early years
practitioners should only proceed with the informed consent of parents. By bringing together
information from a health visitor, the early years practitioner and the parent in a TAC, an assessment
of needs can be made in areas such as development of the child, parents and carers and family

The Human Perception And Distinction Between Gender And...
Evolutions in scientific thought have often contributed to overhauls of the human perception and
distinction between gender and culture. Consequently, scientific revolutions have also triggered
sociopolitical movements, which have had negative and positive connotations on culture and society.
This overhaul in scientific thought began in the 19th century with naturalist Charles Darwin and his
theory of Darwinism. Darwinism states that animal species continually evolve through the complex
processes of natural selection and those most fit learn to adapt and survive to their particular
environment (darwin online.org, 2008). Shortly after Darwin made his revolutionary claims, one of
the most prolific and controversial scientific revolutions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In short, this theory has a history of elevating certain groups while oppressing others and this paper
aims to expose the impact of the Eugenics movement in and its lasting effects on gender and culture in
America, specifically on women and African Americans and individuals with disabilities.
In the minds of eugenicists of the late 19th and 20th centuries, the ideal and most fit race of people
was Anglo Saxon. This obsession to breed a world dominated by the white Anglo Saxon race
negatively skewed the societal perception of women. It placed extreme pressure on them to procreate
and preserve the genetic integrity of the superior race. Women were held in high regard for their
ability and fitness to bear and rear children, but little else. Women were adversely burdened with the
stigma of possessing a diminished and often emotion driven mental capacity in comparison to male
counterparts.
Dr. Roswell H. Johnson student of influential American eugenicist Charles Davenport, expert, and
professor of eugenics and prominent mind in the American Eugenics Movement picked up where
Darwin and Galton left off. He was co developer of the Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis (T

counseling, measuring 18 dimensions of personality (9 bipolar traits) that are important components of

Eli Whitney One Of America s Great Men
I claim that Eli Whitney is falsely labeled as one of America s great men. Whitney was chosen to
construct military weapons, but he had no prior experience assembling anything of that nature. He
signed a contract with the government on June 14, 1798 stating that he would deliver ten thousand
stands of arms as his fifteen month deadline approached. Rumors of war were roaring, but Whitney
still took one year to deliver his first round of weapons. He did not complete his contract until almost
nine years had passed. During the decade it took him to produce his end of the bargain, he spoke of
discovering a new and efficient technique. He said that by creating an engraving on a copper plate he
could then produce numerous duplicates of a specific

Collusion in the NFL Essay
Collusion in the NFL
Contests in skill, strength and speed have occupied an important place in every culture throughout the
ages. The meaning of the term sport and the effect that sport has on society is always changing. Sports
have especially changed in the last two decades and can certainly be evidence by the growing number
of labor disputes and court cases involving all sports. Labor relations did not play a dominant role in
professional sports until the early 1970 s. Prior to unions and collective bargaining, professional
athletes were treated like privileged peons. Today sport is more career and business than avocation and
pastime. Today professional players pursue their playing careers as businesses. And agents ... Show

Specifically, section 8(a) (5) states that It shall be an unfair labor practice for an employer to refuse to
bargain collectively with the representatives of his employees, subject to the provisions of section 9(a)
of the law. The National Labor Relations Board enforces the law by policing unfair labor practices
committed by either labor or management. The Board also reviews questions concerning what issues
are subject to negotiation under the law. The two most common allegations of unfair labor practices
are that the employer has disciplined or discharged players for engaging in union activities and that the
employer has refused to bargain in good faith. The collective bargaining agreements reached in
professional sports are not industrywide. Rather, there is a separate one for baseball, football, etc. This
makes bargaining in sports unique from other unions. Also, the clubs bargain as a group with unions
over certain aspects of wages, hours and working conditions. However, the most important issue,
individual salary, is negotiated between the club and player. The National Labor Relations Act seeks to
promote collective bargaining to resolve employer and employee concerns. Because many agreements
between labor and management sometimes affect and/or restrain competition under the context of the

Stereotypes Of Women In Math Essay
In the mathematical field there is an obvious differentiation between the amount of males and females
in the field. This might raise the question of why that is or if there even is a specific reason, well there
is, women are heavily pushed away from mathematical careers due to multiple factors. Although there
are not many females in the math field, the ones that are bring different ways of thinking into light
which helps the math careers grow and improve. Even though women do have different perspectives
and outlooks on things, the way they do math is not very different, but unfortunately when put in

due to the heavy impact of stereotypes on women. In the article Knowing is Half the Battle: Teaching
Stereotypes Threats as a Means of Improving Women s Math Performance it states that there are many
affects that stereotypes have on women that effect their performance including anxiety and other
affective and cognitive responses. (John) When stereotypes are put into play, they cause problems and
the people cannot perform properly because they start to believe the lies of the stereotypes. One thing
from New Trends in Gender and Mathematics Performance: A Meta Analysis writes that women
perform better in a setting where there are no stereotypes versus a setting that has stereotypes.
(Lindberg) This shows that college student women do not perform well when they are pressured by
the stereotypes people say to them, but when put in a place where there are no stereotypes pressuring
them they do better in their mathematical performance. Stereotypes are one of the main reasons that
females have trouble with competing against males, because they feel that they are not good enough.

A Brief Look at Anna Freud
Anna Freud once said, Creative minds have always been known to survive any kind of bad training.
This quote makes absolute sense. If something is bad creative minds come up with ideas to make it
fun or interesting instead of boring and ordinary. This is also proven by the fact that several people are
raised in negative situations and yet still lead successful lives. This can also be said about non creative
minds. If a person gets everything given to them such as a rich person, they don t have to work
towards a goal and do not have to come up with any new ways to do anything. Anna Freud
accomplished a lot through her life time from her childhood until her death and even after. Anna Freud
was the daughter of Sigmund and Martha Freud of Vienna. She was the youngest of six children. She
was born December 3, 1895. She went to school at the private school, Cottage Lucreum. She lived a
very unhappy childhood and grew up very distant from her siblings. Her main sibling rival was her
sister older sister, Sophie. When Sophie got married it made Anna very happy to see her go. Sophie
was said to be very beautiful. After Sophie left and got married, Anna wrote a letter to her father in
which she said that she was happy to see Sophie go not just for her getting married but because now
the constant competition that they had between each other was now over and she had all of her father s
attention focused on her.
When she was in her teen years her father would start analyzing her.

Jane Eyre Character Analysis
Do changing circumstances truly alter a person s character? Throughout the book, Jane Eyre, many
people take up residence in the life of young, plain Jane Eyre. As the circumstances of the book
unfold, Jane comes across hypocrites, servants, people of worldly nature, people of pride, and even
people of insanity. They all influence her life in different ways and their decisions, alongside hers,
change the circumstances in her life. In the end, Jane s character is drastically transformed by each of
the circumstances she encounters. In contrast, Jane s master, Mr. Rochester, a proud and selfish man,
confronts trials and impeding circumstances, yet his character does not alter until almost everything in
his possession is taken from him.
As a young child, Jane lives with her rude, arrogant Aunt Reed. Aunt Reed allows Jane to stay in her
home out of a sense of duty to her husband s request. Jane perseveres through immense mistreatment
from her cousins and aunt. As Jane laments, ..you treated me with miserable cruelty..You think I have
no feelings, and that I can do without one bit of love or kindness; but I cannot live so: and you have no
pity. (p.35, Bronte) Out of her aunt s despise for her, she sends Jane to Lowood School, a place of
strict regulations, poor conditions, and warped theology. Throughout Jane s time under her aunt s
household and her initial entrance into the school, her conduct and attitude remains defensive,
stubborn, and selfish. She rebels against all

Holden Caulfield Loneliness
To feel lonely when surrounded by people is the worst feeling imaginable. In the novel, The Catcher

in the 1950s who assumingly suffers from a mental disorder. This novel starts off in the autumn at
Pencey Prep, a private boys preparatory school and later in New York, while the last chapter takes
place in a mental asylum. Holden who suffers from disorders such as depression and anxiety is
misunderstood by society and therefore is pushed into isolation and loneliness. He admits to being
lonely and depressed throughout the book. Right before Holden decides to leave Pencey forever to go
to Manhattan, he shares his feelings after getting in a fight with his roommate Spencer, I got feeling so

Holden shares, I thought probably I d get pneumonia and die (154). His isolation from others around

Analysis Of The Article Of Margery Kempe
The Woman in White: Reduction to Appearance Body in;
The Book of Margery Kempe by Margery Kempe
For all of time society has been incredibly judgmental of women s clothing, among every other aspect
of their lives. The Medieval time period was restrictive towards women s clothing and bodies due to
widespread beliefs that women must be held to a higher standard. Women were taught to be bashful
when it came to their bodies during the Medieval time period, as explained in Representation of
Women s Emotions in Medieval and Early Modern Culture by Lisa Renee Perfetti. Angelic or in
mourning, Margery Kemp s change in attire between white and black impacts her relations with those
around her. The Book of Margery Kempe by Margery Kempe portrays the reduction to appearance
and body based on Margery s attire.
Reduction to Body, the treatment of a person as identified with their body, or body parts (feminist
perspectives on objectification), can be seen throughout Medieval England and Margery Kempe s
autobiography. The female body especially, has undergone immense scrutiny for simply existing,
genitelia often referred to as shamefuls (Allen 191). Margery s disinterest in being sexual is based on
the idea that God will love her more if she were to refrain from sex, just as a virgin might. But this
may not be her only encouragement because there are certain occasions when the women s shame is
strictly social (Allen 193). Margery may be choosing to live chastely with John for the

Music in the 1930s
During the deepest economic downturn in the United States, the Great Depression, music and dancing
made people forget the hardships of their daily lives. Research shows that listening to music can
improve your mood. Music has been used as a therapy for centuries, especially in the 1930s ( How
Music Changes Your Mood ). Popular music during the 1930s included many upbeat and fun genres
like swing, jazz, and country/western.
The exciting sound of swing music is portrayed from its strong rhythm section of double bass and
drums. This is used as the anchor for a lead section of brass instruments, woodwinds, and sometimes
stringed instruments. Swing often uses medium to fast tempos and a swing time rhythm ( Music ...

The origins of country music were the folk music of mostly white, working class Americans.
According to Sean Dooley who contributed to The History of Country Music , they blended popular
songs, Irish and Celtic fiddle tunes, traditional ballads, cowboy songs, and various musical traditions
from European immigrant communities. In the 1930s, radio and recordings had begun to popularize
the new style, renamed as country and western . It included country, gospel, bluegrass, cowboy
musicals, brother and sister duets, and western swing (Dooley). The flip side of country music was
jazz. Country musicians began recording boogie in 1939, shortly after it was played at Carnegie Hall.
This was also when Johnny Barfield recorded Boogie Woogie . The start of what was initially called
hillbilly , boogie , or okie boogie became much more popular in late 1945 ( Music in the 1930s ).
Another type of country music with a variety of moods included honky tonk. Honky tonk was a basic
ensemble of guitar, bass, steel guitar, and drums. It became widespread among poor whites in Texas
and Oklahoma. Honky tonk had its roots in western swing and ranchera music of Mexico (Dooley).
Rockabilly was most common in the 1950s among country fans. 1956 was called the Year of
Rockabilly in country music. Rockabilly was a mixture of hillbilly and rock and roll ( Music in the
1930s ). During the era, Elvis Presley converted over to country music and played a huge role in the
music industry. Barn dance shows featuring country music were started all over the South, as far north
as Chicago, and as far west as California. The most important was the Grand Ole

Water And Water Pollution In The St. Johns River
The St. Johns River is suffering from a significant environmental disaster because of toxic substances
from municipal and industrial wastewater, fertilizer runoff, failing septic tanks, and stormwater.
Consequently, over 55% of the river miles, 80.4% of acres of large water bodies, 59.4 % of estuaries,
and 31.4% of coastline miles do not meet water quality standards in Florida (Florida Department of
Environmental Protection 119). For that matter, studying those pollution problems that the river faces
is vital since one can use this information to salvage the natural resource which is at the brink of
destruction.
Often, toxic substances are being drained into the air, waterways, and undergrounds wells. According
to the report by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), over 60 million pounds of deadly chemicals
are produced by industries in Florida. Notably, Florida s water has been suffering mercury
contamination until the state s department of migration issues a circular regularly for regulations of
eating freshwater fish in the region (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). In fact,
such metals emanate from coal combustion s emissions which run into water bodies. Not to mention,
pesticides and herbicides utilized by government and homeowners pollute the environment (Florida
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). Indeed, all chemicals released into the atmosphere find
themselves in rivers.
Besides toxic substances, nutrient pollution is a significant blow

are taught on what their parents tell them. Then slowly it starts growing into our cultural identity over
the multiple generations. As you probably know, there is a big age gap between your parents and your
self. In the nowadays generation, the way we talk is considered to be rude to someone that is a lot
older like In there 60 70. People from the older generation had specific ways a sentence was said.
Another thing that shows a big generation gap is the music. Music has changed a lot from the 1900 s,

Analysis Of The Film Bourne Ultimatum
In the film Bourne Ultimatum, the above link is a chase sequence. Personally, I felt this film wasn t
terrible, but there were bad sequences, especially the sequence I analyzed. This whole movie had
shaky hand held shots, specifically in the sequence I analyzed. I understand war movies, and action
movies are allowed to use shaky hand held shots, but it was shaky the entire sequence, and it wasn t
necessary for certain shots. Along with that, there were a few composition shots but everything else
was sloppy and shots were edited terribly. The beginning started outside in the daylight, cloudy day,
on what seemed to be a very busy street with honking of cars and a medium shot of a taxi cab.
Dramatic music starts as we are introduced to the first character by using a hand held shot following
this character, but it has way to many quick cuts in between that we can t get a sense of what the
character s face actually looks like. It cuts to a medium shot of that character wearing a black coat, to
a rapid pan down shot of a building to a close up shot of the character s side face. This would have
been better if it were a direct over the shoulder pan down or up of the actor looking at a building. Then
it cuts to that character s reflection looking at writing on a door, with a close up and quick pan, that
was not even a pan, it was a quick cut that was unessary, instead the camera could of panned while the
actor walked down the hall. Then the actor opens a door, no sound

My Service Project At Dawn Mckee From The Centre County...
I completed my service project working alongside Dawn McKee from the Centre County Women s
Resource Center. She, along with the director of the Children s Advocacy Center, director of the Youth
Service Bureau, a representative from Children and Youth Services, and a representative from YMCA
of Centre County came together to organize an event for sexual assault and child abuse. They
coordinated an event on the courthouse steps in Bellefonte where they recognized members in the
community who were dedicated to preventing and spreading awareness of sexual assault and child
abuse.

Although I was a little behind on my service project due to the miscommunication with Stormbreak, I
used my problem solving skills to quickly figure out an applicable alternative. Another aspect of my
restorative strength is taking the burden off others and putting it onto your own shoulders. I met Jamie,
from the State College YMCA, through Dawn. I reached out to Jamie and asked if she needed any
help with her part in the event; she needed help setting up tables at various YMCA locations
throughout Centre County. Although it was short notice and required a few hours of driving, I offered
to help Jamie set up the tables. Because of my helpful nature, I took the task off of Jamie s hands and
completed it even though it required some traveling to various locations. Belief, another one of my
strengths, also played a role in my service project. It mentioned that someone who is talented in the
belief theme usually spends times on things that relate to ideals and core values. It also explained that
individuals who have the belief strength take interest and want to help those who are struggling. I
wanted to work with Stormbreak because I admired the work they did in helping teenage girls find
shelter in a time of need. Also, I had mentioned earlier that I took special interest in the work Dawn
McKee did at the Centre County Women s resource center, because of a domestic violence speaker
that came to Penn State. Once she

Differences and Similarities Between Malcolm X and Martin...
In history, everyone knows that no two great men are alike. And when you compare Martin Luther
King and Malcolm X, you will know instantly that this is true. There are many differences between
the two, apart from the striking one: that Martin Luther King was a very good statesmen who
delivered moving speeches about peace, freedom and democracy while Malcolm X was a known
eradicator of those who were not of the superior white race. The beliefs of Martin Luther King and
Malcolm X may stem from the fact that their childhoods were vastly different, given that the former

Argumentative Essay About Anime
Do you watch cartoons? I do. Not bugs bunny; I m talking about anime. Do you know what that is?
Anime is, simply put, animation that s made in Japan. I ll give you some examples of anime that you
might know. Speed Racer, Hello Kitty, Pokemon, RoboTech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and a lot of
the cartoons you find on Cartoon Network qualify as well, particularly Adult Swim.
Thankfully our country has gotten the rights to translate the stories from Japanese to English, because
the storylines in anime are really good. Often they re better than what Hollywood shovels into your
brain.
That s basically what anime is. Now let s talk about what it s not.
Anime is not a genre; it s an art form; a medium. From now on I want you to think of anime as being
equated with movies, books, music, etc; all the entertainment media. Just like you have movies for
kids, movies for teens, adults, so it is with anime.
All your entertainment comes in 31 flavors, right? Comedy, horror, drama, suspense, action, etc. You
file similar movies on the same shelf in the store, don t you? But you shouldn t be putting all anime on
the same shelf because anime is not a genre. It s a medium, like movies are a medium, like books are a
medium. A medium can have any genre of entertainment in it; well so can anime. Anime is not all sex
and violence as some people will tell you. When I hear someone say that anime is sex and violence,
that immediately tells me that they watched probably one particular anime show

Analysis Of Helft Mir Ihr Schwestern
Helft mir, ihr Schwestern is song number five from Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe und
leben. The song cycle was set to the text of a poem cycle of the same name by Adelbert von
Chamisso. Each poem in the cycle provides a glimpse into the story of a woman falling in love with a
man, getting engaged and married to him, getting pregnant and having a child, becoming a widow and
finally sharing her life story with her granddaughter. At the time that Schumann wrote this song cycle,
he was going through a legal battle with his future wife s father over the right to marry her. This poem
cycle contains themes of love, devotion, and longing that Schumann could personally relate with his
feelings for Clara Wieck, who would soon become Clara Schumann. In this essay, I will demonstrate
how Frauenliebe und leben is directly reflective of Robert Schumann s own life experiences. In so
doing, I will be analyzing the ways in which Schumann set the music in a fashion that emphasized the
structure and emotional content of the poetry. In order to better understand the context of Robert
Schuman s setting of Helft mir, ihr Schwestern, I will first provide a general analysis of the song cycle
as a whole. As Schumann set music to the various poems, he shifted the tonality to closely related
keys, such as a fourth or fifth away, or shifting the relative or parallel major and minor keys. These
shifts in tonality help emphasis the emotional development of the main character of the poems. The
song cycle begins with a relatively slow and reflective song in the key of Bb major, where the main
subject of the poem cycle first describes her feelings of intense, blind love for a man. The next song
shifts the tonal center up a fourth to the key of Eb. In this song, the woman raises the man of her
affection up on a pedestal of high praise, while she demeans herself to a lowly maid. Song three,
moves the tonality to the relative minor of the previous song, C minor. This song is about the woman s
disbelief that the man she adored so highly has fallen in love with her, and Schumann reflects that
disbelief by making the music more erratic in tempo. He also emphasizes the disbelief by repeating
the complete last stanza and then the

For this assignment, my decision to write about Boeing is based on my real world job with the Federal Aviation Administration and the fact that I process pounds of mail from them on a weekly basis. Company History The story of Boeing started in a Seattle, WA shipyard in March 1910, but the company didn t get its official start until July 1916. Throughout Boeing s history, it has been closely associated with military aviation, through its early foray into air mail delivery eventually gave birth to United Airlines in 1934 (A Century in the Sky, 2015). Boeing aircraft and support of allied forces during World War II was a key asset in bringing the war to a close and kept the skies in the Korean War clear. Its aviation knowledge and ... Competitors Speaking strictly about the commercial airliner market, Boeing s only competitor is Airbus. Setting the stage for the duopoly that was created, Rockwell International sold North American Aviation and Rocketdyne to Boeing in 1996 and McDonnell Douglas was wholly absorbed in 1997 (The Boeing Company History, 2000). Across the Atlantic, three of the four founding companies that comprised the Airbus consortium (created in 1969) merged together to form the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS). In 2014, EADS was renamed as the Airbus Group, with Airbus (its airline production arm) as a division of the group (Weiss). Innovation and Performance Boeing maintains its competitive advantage and market share through trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets obtained through steady research and development. Even though the protection of intellectual property is important to Boeing, it routinely contacts and licenses out the rights to various properties within its catalog (Jewell, 2014). • 3. Relationship Between Consumer Sentiment And Adr Price Essay These studies discussed above implicitly assume that the local and US investors have homogeneous expectations about future prospects of all markets. However, in practice, different market conditions can cause investors to generate differential risk perceptions. Some studies argue that investor sentiment may augment to the price divergence between ADRs and their underlying stocks.  Heterogeneous Investor Sentiment Grossmann et al. (2007) perhaps is the first to investigate the relationship between consumer sentiment and ADR price differences. Using a fixed effects panel data approach, they provide evidence in support of the hypothesis that costly arbitrage factors influence ADR price differentials. 30 Moreover, they argue that sentiment could also help explain the mispricing of ADRs. Specifically, they test whether consumer sentiment (measured by consumer sentiment indices) help to explain the divergence between the prices of ADRs and that of their underlying assets. Their results suggest that the more optimistic U.S. consumers are the lower the ADR premiums. Based on the findings, they conclude that the prices of ADRs and that of the underlying stocks are more responsive to US consumer sentiment as to the consumer sentiment of the country of origin. Using a cross sectional panel data approach, Arquette et al. (2008) model the variations in ADR discount as a function of expected changes in exchange rate expectations and differences in investor sentiment.31 The sample ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Innocence of Daisy Miller Essay In 1878, Henry James wrote, Daisy Miller, a novella about a young American girl and her travels in Europe. Daisy Miller is a complex short story with many underlying themes such as appearance versus reality, knowledge versus innocence, outward action versus inward meditation, and Nature versus urbanity. In this short story, one is left to judge whether Daisy Miller, the main character of the story, is a pretty American flirt or a misunderstood, modern young woman. By probing into the complexities and contradictions of Daisy s character, it is obvious that Ms. Miller is merely a misunderstood young woman. Through his novel, Henry James shows his readers that the gap between what people believe to be true and the actual truth can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He decides a pretty American flirt would be acceptable for him to know. Mainly he wants an excuse to spend time with her. His desire for her to be innocent and undesigning reflects not only on her true personality but also on his lust for her. Mrs. Costello s character symbolizes old money and culture, even though she is American, and thus sets up a stark contrast to Daisy Miller, a character devoid of much ritual or formality. Mrs. Costello had lived much of her life in Europe and had kept a society so intentionally exclusive in America that she has separated herself from any of the qualities associated with the innocence and natural spontaneity of an American. She believes the Miller s to be common and tells Winterbourne to stay away from them. However, Daisy represents to Winterbourne what he lacks, standing as a metaphor of what all of Europe lacks, as long as Daisy does not go too far with her social freedom. Winterbourne is largely blinded to the honesty and innocence that Daisy imparts because he has trouble recognizing a manner that has become foreign to him. Thus when Daisy walks calmly along with both Giovanelli and Winterbourne in the Pincio and does not seem anxious to get rid of Winterbourne, Winterbourne is perplexed (36 37). He does not realize that she does not know better and she will ruin herself because of it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Historical Development Of Play Research In this assignment, I am going to explore the concept of play by investigating the historical development of play, also considering the social and cultural aspects which has led to the appropriate practice today. First of all, I m going to talk about why play is important. The importance of play was recognised in the Children Act 2004 which sets out five outcomes within the Every Child Matters (ECM) framework. These include being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and economic wellbeing. There are various definitions of play and playing. She recognised the importance of a nurturing environment, which allows the children to discover their interests with no fixed curriculum. As she believes in the emotional expression of play, she believes play is an important part of children s lives at home as well as at placement, this is accomplished through love and warmth to ensure stimulating opportunities in both settings. Isaacs valued parents as the child s primary educators and believes this is why play should be interlinked between the setting and home. Historically from the 1900 s to recent years, parents perceptions have changed as they expect nursery settings to nurture and bring up the child rather than at home, this shows have roles have changed over the years. However, on the other hand, Sara Smilansky s theory focuses on a child s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development rather than just play, which supports the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. • 6. Comparing My Fair Lady And Miss Congeniality In the world, there seems to be two levels of conflict. One conflict involves having a common war shared among multiple individuals, and the other incorporates more personal issues. For instance, many women across the globe feel inferior to men; however, some feel apt to change the way things are or how they adapt to the situation. Some women are satisfied with how their lives are, but there are some that will go the extra mile to see some fresh, new adjustments. In My Fair Lady and Miss Congeniality, there seems to be evidence of intertextual elements intertwined within both films through the aspects of character motives, conflicts, and setting. The characters of both films are revealed by their words and actions. The characters Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins from My Fair Lady seem to have obvious comparisons to Gracie Hart and Victor Melling from Miss Congeniality. • 14. A Hero Is A Hero What if you were trapped in a burning building with nobody to come and save you? People need heroes. Whether you are being robbed or your house is on fire, you need a hero. There is a reason that heroes are so liked, needed, and wanted in our modern world. It s because heroes instill order where there is chaos by having the kindness to do something that s right, like stand up to a bully, but also by having the kindness to do something like rescue a cat from a tree. The first thing that anybody needs when trying to be a hero is courage to do something right. A hero has to have the courage to do something that is right no matter how hard or how big the task really is. The man in the water is a good example of this because Lenny Skutnik didn t hesitate for a split second about jumping into the water to save that lady and the man that was in the water didn t hesitate about passing on the life preserver. It s something I never thought I would do referring to his jumping into the water to drag an injured woman to shore... somebody had to go in the water (pg 12 Man in the Water). He jumped in the water to save someone because he knew that it was the right thing to do and he had the courage to do it. Every time they lowered a lifeline and floating ring to him he passed it on to another of the passengers. (pg 12 Man in the Water). The man in the water also had the courage to do what was right because even though he knew he would probably die, he wanted the others to live which takes a tremendous amount of courage. Whale Tale is also a good example for this because Michael Fishbach risked everything, life and boat, to help a humpback whale. He swam into the water with the humpback whale that was tangled up in the net knowing all to well that he could die from one frantic movement and that is the courage that makes him a hero, he also was cutting the net off of the whale and had to let it tow him around knowing that it could tip over the boat in an instant and that is why he is recognized as a hero and that is because he had the courage to do something right while knowing that he and his crew could have died. In order to believe in yourself as a hero and in order to be recognized as a hero you have to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

La Belle Dame Sanns Merci Comparative poetry essay based on the three poems La Belle Dame Sans Merci by John Keats, Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare and My Last Duchess by Robert Browning Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words . Poetry is a language of art where one is free to express his feelings without hesitation. Love is a strong and significant emotion that we feel in our lives at some point that helps us understand our emotions and interpret the world around us. In addition, The squirrel s granary is full, and the harvest s done suggests that the stanza closes with references to the natural world the squirrel s granary and the harvest serves as a reminder that winter is just one part of the seasonal cycle, perhaps the final days where life s meaning begins to slip away, this is associated with the feelings of the knight in La Belle . There is perhaps a hint here that the knight s suffering is of his own making. There is great emphasis on Keats use of the cold hillside in La Belle Dame Sans Merci perhaps suggesting how every joyous moment eventually ends. This is also seen in another poem called The Eve of Saint Agnes where For aye unsought for slept among his ashes cold. Symbolism of coldness is significant and recurring in his poems which is similar to La Belle Dame Sans Merci stating The latest dream I ever dreamt. The poem Sonnet 116 was written during the Elizabethan era in 1609 by William Shakespeare who had a very modern view of marriage and relationships inclusive of couples and lovers who were seen by him as more or less equal and believed that people generally married for love. Shakespeare mentions in Sonnet 116 that Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, but bears it out even to the edge of doom which suggests that love is a powerful emotion and when two lovers are really in love, they will do whatever it takes to keep their relationship strong and love will not change over time but will last until death. Listen to me, everything that Jesus says and does in the New Testament is very important! Whatever the garment is that this man has on is a social faux pas to the celebration that he has been invited to. The rest of the parable is pretty straightforward as Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of heaven is like... Remember at the beginning of the parable, we are told that the first group that was invited to the wedding, refused to attend. When the King heard about it, he was furious, and he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city, Matthew 22:7 8 NKJV. The King then declared an open invitation to everyone to attend the marriage of his son. The parable in Matthew 22 is a profound teaching. It shows that the invitation to salvation is the same as receiving an invitation to the wedding of the Messiah. That is why the garment that the one man had on was such an irritation to the King. It was not so much what the man was wearing per se. It was a heart issue! The apostle John tells us the significance of wedding garments in Revelation 19. And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings saying: Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Evaluating the Main Theories of Counselling Essay This essay will attempt to highlight and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the three main theories of counselling within the module covered this term. The three approaches in discussion are psychodynamics, cognitive behavioural and humanistic. The psychodynamic theory originated from Sigmund Freud, a medical doctor and philosopher (1856 1939) founded in the 1900s. Freud developed his ideas whilst working as a psychiatrist in Vienna, collecting information from his patients such as feelings, thoughts and early childhood experiences. The psychodynamic theory focuses on the unconscious mind. Freud s credence is that different mental forces operate in the mind. The unconscious mind can be described as being like an iceberg. ... It is our basic drives such as life instincts (Eros) and death instincts (Thantos); it is also responsible for our libido (sexual instinct). The Ego is the conscious state, the rational mind which organises our thoughts and makes sense of them. This develops during the first two years of life. The Super Ego aims for perfection, it works in contradiction to the Id. It controls our sense of right and wrong. Part of Freud s theory was that the Id, Ego and Super Ego were in constant conflict with each other. It involves the Id wanting immediate satisfaction and the super ego who wants the id/person to behave leaving the ego constantly trying to resolve the issue. The Ego uses a number of defence mechanisms to protect itself; these mechanisms are designed to reduce anxiety and stress. Some defence mechanisms include; repression, displacement, projection, denial and intellectualisation. Techniques used by Psychodynamic therapists consist of; dream therapy (making sense of dreams and interpretation into reasons behind them), hypnosis and free association. Labeling theorists suggest that labeling individuals as deviant has the potential of becoming a self fulfilling prophecy (Globokar, 2008). Howard Becker has described deviance as a consequence of the application by others of rules and sanctions to an offender ; the deviant is one to whom the label has successfully been applied; deviant behavior is behavior people so label (Clinard Meier, 2011:89). Culture, sex, age and other elements of identity all shape self conception, but the meanings that an individual places on various circumstances and interactions certainly play a very important role as well. It becomes difficult to normally interact with others once there is a negative impact of an individual s reputation and the conception and expectations of others reinforces that reputation. I am very familiar with the effect that labeling can have on a person. My uncle in Cuba is a great example of what labeling can do to your persona. I grew up very close to him and remember always going on trips and he would play around with all the time; to me he was the greatest uncle in the world. The CAF is specific to England but the same approach of working together is recommended in all the countries of the United Kingdom. Evolutions in scientific thought have often contributed to overhauls of the human perception and distinction between gender and culture. Consequently, scientific revolutions have also triggered sociopolitical movements, which have had negative and positive connotations on culture and society. This overhaul in scientific thought began in the 19th century with naturalist Charles Darwin and his theory of Darwinism. This obsession to breed a world dominated by the white Anglo Saxon race negatively skewed the societal perception of women. It placed extreme pressure on them to procreate and preserve the genetic integrity of the superior race. • 32. Analysis Of The Article Of Margery Kempe The Woman in White: Reduction to Appearance Body in; The Book of Margery Kempe by Margery Kempe For all of time society has been incredibly judgmental of women s clothing, among every other aspect of their lives. The Medieval time period was restrictive towards women s clothing and bodies due to widespread beliefs that women must be held to a higher standard. Women were taught to be bashful when it came to their bodies during the Medieval time period, as explained in Representation of Women s Emotions in Medieval and Early Modern Culture by Lisa Renee Perfetti. Angelic or in mourning, Margery Kemp s change in attire between white and black impacts her relations with those around her. The Book of Margery Kempe by Margery Kempe portrays the reduction to appearance and body based on Margery s attire. Reduction to Body, the treatment of a person as identified with their body, or body parts (feminist perspectives on objectification), can be seen throughout Medieval England and Margery Kempe s autobiography. The female body especially, has undergone immense scrutiny for simply existing, genitelia often referred to as shamefuls (Allen 191). Margery s disinterest in being sexual is based on the idea that God will love her more if she were to refrain from sex, just as a virgin might. But this may not be her only encouragement because there are certain occasions when the women s shame is strictly social (Allen 193). Margery may be choosing to live chastely with John for the ... Research shows that listening to music can improve your mood. Music has been used as a therapy for centuries, especially in the 1930s ( How Music Changes Your Mood ). Popular music during the 1930s included many upbeat and fun genres like swing, jazz, and country/western. The exciting sound of swing music is portrayed from its strong rhythm section of double bass and drums. This is used as the anchor for a lead section of brass instruments, woodwinds, and sometimes stringed instruments. Swing often uses medium to fast tempos and a swing time rhythm ( Music ... According to Sean Dooley who contributed to The History of Country Music , they blended popular songs, Irish and Celtic fiddle tunes, traditional ballads, cowboy songs, and various musical traditions from European immigrant communities. In the 1930s, radio and recordings had begun to popularize the new style, renamed as country and western . It included country, gospel, bluegrass, cowboy musicals, brother and sister duets, and western swing (Dooley). The flip side of country music was jazz. Country musicians began recording boogie in 1939, shortly after it was played at Carnegie Hall. This was also when Johnny Barfield recorded Boogie Woogie . The start of what was initially called hillbilly , boogie , or okie boogie became much more popular in late 1945 ( Music in the 1930s ). Another type of country music with a variety of moods included honky tonk. Honky tonk was a basic ensemble of guitar, bass, steel guitar, and drums. It became widespread among poor whites in Texas and Oklahoma. Honky tonk had its roots in western swing and ranchera music of Mexico (Dooley). Rockabilly was most common in the 1950s among country fans. 1956 was called the Year of Rockabilly in country music. Rockabilly was a mixture of hillbilly and rock and roll ( Music in the 1930s ). I understand war movies, and action movies are allowed to use shaky hand held shots, but it was shaky the entire sequence, and it wasn t necessary for certain shots. Along with that, there were a few composition shots but everything else was sloppy and shots were edited terribly. The beginning started outside in the daylight, cloudy day, on what seemed to be a very busy street with honking of cars and a medium shot of a taxi cab. Dramatic music starts as we are introduced to the first character by using a hand held shot following this character, but it has way to many quick cuts in between that we can t get a sense of what the character s face actually looks like. It cuts to a medium shot of that character wearing a black coat, to a rapid pan down shot of a building to a close up shot of the character s side face. This would have been better if it were a direct over the shoulder pan down or up of the actor looking at a building. Then it cuts to that character s reflection looking at writing on a door, with a close up and quick pan, that was not even a pan, it was a quick cut that was unessary, instead the camera could of panned while the actor walked down the hall. I ll give you some examples of anime that you might know. Speed Racer, Hello Kitty, Pokemon, RoboTech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and a lot of the cartoons you find on Cartoon Network qualify as well, particularly Adult Swim. Thankfully our country has gotten the rights to translate the stories from Japanese to English, because the storylines in anime are really good. Often they re better than what Hollywood shovels into your brain. That s basically what anime is. Now let s talk about what it s not. Anime is not a genre; it s an art form; a medium. From now on I want you to think of anime as being equated with movies, books, music, etc; all the entertainment media. Just like you have movies for kids, movies for teens, adults, so it is with anime. All your entertainment comes in 31 flavors, right? Comedy, horror, drama, suspense, action, etc. You file similar movies on the same shelf in the store, don t you? But you shouldn t be putting all anime on the same shelf because anime is not a genre. It s a medium, like movies are a medium, like books are a medium. A medium can have any genre of entertainment in it; well so can anime. • 46. Analysis Of Helft Mir Ihr Schwestern Helft mir, ihr Schwestern is song number five from Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe und leben. The song cycle was set to the text of a poem cycle of the same name by Adelbert von Chamisso. Each poem in the cycle provides a glimpse into the story of a woman falling in love with a man, getting engaged and married to him, getting pregnant and having a child, becoming a widow and finally sharing her life story with her granddaughter. At the time that Schumann wrote this song cycle, he was going through a legal battle with his future wife s father over the right to marry her. This poem cycle contains themes of love, devotion, and longing that Schumann could personally relate with his feelings for Clara Wieck, who would soon become Clara Schumann. In this essay, I will demonstrate how Frauenliebe und leben is directly reflective of Robert Schumann s own life experiences. In so doing, I will be analyzing the ways in which Schumann set the music in a fashion that emphasized the structure and emotional content of the poetry. In order to better understand the context of Robert Schuman s setting of Helft mir, ihr Schwestern, I will first provide a general analysis of the song cycle as a whole. As Schumann set music to the various poems, he shifted the tonality to closely related keys, such as a fourth or fifth away, or shifting the relative or parallel major and minor keys. These shifts in tonality help emphasis the emotional development of the main character of the poems. The song cycle begins with a relatively slow and reflective song in the key of Bb major, where the main subject of the poem cycle first describes her feelings of intense, blind love for a man. The next song shifts the tonal center up a fourth to the key of Eb. In this song, the woman raises the man of her affection up on a pedestal of high praise, while she demeans herself to a lowly maid. Song three, moves the tonality to the relative minor of the previous song, C minor. This song is about the woman s disbelief that the man she adored so highly has fallen in love with her, and Schumann reflects that disbelief by making the music more erratic in tempo. He also emphasizes the disbelief by repeating the complete last stanza and then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
