Are Violent Video Games Are Harmful To Children And...
Taking Sides: Violent Video Games There has been a long standing debate that violent video games
are harmful to the rising generations. The article that was selected to be critiqued is, Are Violent
Video Games Harmful to Children and Adolescents? . The purpose of this paper is to analyze and
critique the research methods and conclusions included by the author of the article. Summary
Author, Steven F. Gruel, argues that there is an overwhelming amount of science and research that
supports the claim that video games that are violent are indeed harmful to human development
(Gruel 2010). It affects their development by causing them to act more violently. He begins by
discussing that over time, usage of violent video games among youth has... Show more content on

This proves to be a problem as it does not give the reader all the details. The article expects the
reader to agree with the author without knowing the complete information. This takes away from
the critical thinking that the reader should do when reading an opinionated article. It is important
for the reader to be able to form an opinion on their own and not from just what the author tells
them is true. An example from the article is when he claimed that studies have shown evidence that
exposure to violent video games reduced the player s ability to control their impulses. (Gruel 2010)
As a reader, this statement is substantial to forming an opinion on the issue, but it lacks substance to
deduct a thorough understanding of what is being stated. There is no explanation of the experiment
where the results came from, no discussion of sample size, no explanation of the type of
experiment, and no documentation of the subjects. The reader is left to either fill in the blanks with
their own assumptions or blindly trust the author. Weakness: Suggests that Correlation does Equal
Causation The next issue that can be found, is he suggests that correlation found in studies equals
causation. In the text, he states, Several studies documented a negative relation between amount of
time playing video games and school performance among children, adolescents, and college
students. (Gruel 2010). With this he correlates video games with doing poorly in schools. This is a

Symbolism In The Wizard Of Oz
For many immigrants, America is the chance for success. The United States stands for liberty and
opportunity and proceeds to stand tall around other nations that cripple with time. Our iconic
symbol is the Statue of Liberty, which migrants would first see when they came into our country
seeking a better life than they left behind. America is filled with a much perceived wealth, but what
may seem like gold to foreigners is actually just pyrite.
In the Wizard of Oz, the residents of the famed city are legally required to wear emerald glasses,
which make the city appear green and sparkling. In the book, the wizard says, My people have
been wearing green glasses on their eyes for so long that most of them think this really is an
Emerald City. (Flank L. Baum). The glasses supposedly protect them from the glory that is Oz;
however, the city no greener than any other city one may find. ... Show more content on

America is the land of wealth and opportunity, so they flock to our nation expecting better lives
ahead. Conversely, once they make the trip to the Land of the Free, immigrants slowly realize the
painful dread that hangs within our sewage smelling air. America promises freedom, but chastises
people for their skin color by instructing our own police forces to act brutally towards them.
African Americans are three times more likely to be killed by a police officer on the spot than a
white person. There is also an injustice of wages in the United States. Women in America are still
paid seventy eight cents for every dollar a man makes. The American Dream is only achievable
by a white man. Even then, the American Dream is still a façade. The white man will still face
years of work of a lucky chance of gaining wealth and

Gamora Vs Star-Homer
After the last Guardians Of The Galaxy film, fans speculated a sequel from director James Gunn.
The last movie had action packed scenes, a possible romance, and a lot of sarcasm. Which left
all Marvel geeks wanting more from the talented cast. The movie hits theaters on May 5th, and
some of your favorite characters will return to the big screen. Maybe even some new ones. But
what can fans expect from the upcoming release? Of course, all of us want to see more of
Gamora and Star Lord. Both seemed to have a spark in the last movie. We are hoping the
directors include some of this romance a little bit more in the movie. We also need a lot of super
cool actions scenes. With swords, laser guns, and maybe even a new Xfinity Stone. But what fans

Violence against Nurses in the Emergency Department
According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, workplace violence is
defined as an act of aggression directed toward persons at work or on duty, ranging from offensive
or threatening language to homicide (Wolf, Delao Perhats, 2014, p.305). Workplace violence
(WPV) can include verbal, physical, and emotional abuse, or any type of threatening behavior that
can cause physical or emotional harm. According to the Emergency Nurse s Association Position

Despite the lack of reporting, it is clear that emergency department nurses are frequently victims of
violence perpetrated by patients and visitors (Gates et al., 2012, p. 203). Prosecution to the full
extent of the law is necessary to decrease the perception that violence against nurses is acceptable.
Greater support from public officials and management is necessary to combat this growing problem,
with the institution of specific policies and procedures. Movement toward a nonviolent workplace
will result in higher nurse satisfaction and retention. To effectively establish and address the issue,
more research, support from hospital management, and stronger legislation is necessary.

American And Mexican American Culture
Mexican American
Being a Latina born in America and growing up here, I was taught celebrating American culture
like, Memorial, independence and Labor Day, with the explosion of bright colorful fireworks,
the smell of fire when turning on the grill and the best part; no school! Also celebrating
Christmas and new year s the American way, going to church, eating, and opening presents on
Christmas day. It wasn t until 4 years ago I went to Mexico and realized there s more to my own
rooted culture and how lucky I am to have both the American and Mexican culture in my life
realizing the generation of Mexican Americans are forming their own culture with both lifestyles.
One of the holidays I celebrated in Mexico was the day of the dead, or as called in Spanish El Dia
de Los Muertos , which could be considered as Halloween in the America. It is first not
celebrated only one day which is October 31st on Halloween. It is celebrated October 31st
through November 1st, there is no running towards the neighborhood and ringing doorbells for
candy, not even dressing up as a princess or your favorite super hero. Four years ago, I was 13, you
could say I was disappointed I didn t get to dress up. I was in confusion and upset that they were
missing out on dressing up and getting free candy. The next day my mom told me I would be
able to dress up, but not in a costume, in a Mexican traditional dress with bright colors, my hair in
a crowned braid and my face painted as a skull. I was

In the various attempts to reach that common aspiration these movements went through a series of
debates, controversies, tensions and strife which was indicative of the Protestant movement from
its inception and which brought about the Reformation. The fourth factor that necessitates a new
study is the fact that many existing analyses have been biased by the ideas and perceptions of
Protestant leaders which have distorted the perception and development of the movement. The last
reason McGrath gives for the need of a new study is the fact that Protestantism itself has changed in
the last fifty years. This study brings to the reader and to the scholar an updated version of the
present day Protestant movement, its impact in present day society and an analysis of its
significance in the future of Christianity. McGrath s Christianity s Dangerous Idea attempts to tell
the story of Protestantism from its early beginnings up to its present day form. A similar and
parallel story is found in Justo Gonzalez s The Story of Christianity in which he also gives a
narrative of the origin, growth and development of the Protestant movement from the Reformation
to the present day. However, Gonzalez not only gives an account of Protestantism but of
Christianity as a whole while McGrath concentrates his study on Protestantism alone. In addition,
McGrath not only narrates but also gives a prophetic

Personal Identity Is A Choice Not Dna
Personal Identity Is a Choice Not DNA In the quest for acceptance into the world many people
discover it difficult to put aside cultural difference to obtain, a better medium on social issues
surrounding racial derive tension. Equally, culture is a determining element in the average
household, on how a person should live out their life. The puzzling factor for many people is
finding a way out of the bias reasoning for why a person should only function as peers from their
own community. Comparatively, Langston Hughesa historical Harlem Renaissancepoet, is
addressing the topic base on personal identity in the poem Theme for English B. The time period
surrounds the Harlem Renaissance is not so different from the world of today on cultural
difference, that dividing people from being whom they want to be and reject by others on the color
of their skin. The reference of this poem is critical when analyzing issues of personal identity from
cultureto similarity in common interest in everyday people; the need for self identity. Thus, Culture
should not be an issue when attempting to find acceptance amongst others when advocating self
identity for personal acceptance in spirit. Pressure for change when identifying the need to move
away from origin in cultural up bring is a hard battle for anyone to win when family tides hold the
link in change. For instance, people undergo a lifetime of cultural awareness from birth with
knowledge of struggle and scarify instilled in the mind

Corruption In Victorian England
Appalled at the corruption of the English church in the late 16th and early 17th century, a group of
people known as separatists (or puritans) abandoned their mother country in search of a life in the
Americas in which they could practice their natural rights without the burden of fearing persecution.
While keeping to the general doctrines of the Christian faith, the puritans derived their individuality
from Calvinism, focusing on the concept of pre destination. After arriving in the MassachusettsBay
and establishing government, the puritan leader John Winthrop declared that their puritan society
would serve as a shining beacon for all to look to as a model of guidance, a city on a hill. This
belief that the puritan society was ordained

Negative Effects Of The Asian Carp
Asian Carp in the Illinois River
In the mid 70 s, my family bought a cabin on the Illinois River. We spent all our free time there,
weekends and most of the summer. For years my family enjoyed their time at the clubhouse as we
called it. It was our home away from home. There were about 20 cabins there, so it was like our
own little community. Just about everyone there was like extended family. Any time someone
needed help, the neighbors showed up. Everyone there had similar interests, hunting, fishing,
boating and water skiing. I spent most of my days enjoying these activities.
Now days times have changed. You can no longer enjoy the things you once could. It has become
dangerous to waterski or to even enjoy a boat ride down the river due to the Asian carp. These fish
are startled easily by boats, and small watercraft. They can jump ten to twelve feet out of the
water causing damage to boats and injuring humans. I have heard of people getting cuts from the
fins, black eyes, concussions, broken noses and jaws, and even knocked unconscious from this
species of fish. Not only are these Asian Carp causing physical damage, they are wreaking havoc
on the ecological system. The main concern from the Asian Carp is the dangerous effects that it is
bringing to our ecosystem. As an avid fisherman, this is of great concern to me. This will not only
affect me as a fisherman, but also possibly hunters, bird watchers, boaters, even jet skiers and water
skiers are

Chen Hong Xia is a Migrant Workers in China s Growing Economy
Chen Hong Xia is one of the 250 million migrants in China s growing economy. These migrant
workers are the people that supports China s whole economy, without them China will not be
where it is now. Although they are crucial in China s growth, migrant workers are treated with
disrespect. Chen Hong Xia is one of the luckier migrant workers. She was able to work her way
out of poverty into a better future. There are many similarities between Chen Hong Xia and most
migrants in China, but Chen Hong Xia s life is significantly better than most migrants. In this essay
we will be comparing and contrasting Chen Hong Xia s expectations, working environment, living
environment and children to the migrant workers in China.
Like many of the migrant workers in China, Chen Hong Xia wanted a better future in the city
and find a job with good working conditions and high wages. Chen Hong Xia comes from a small
town in Shandong province, she grew up on a farm producing rice and corn. Although there were
many job opportunities in Shan Dong province, all the jobs were agricultural jobs that offered
low pay and required lots of physical activity. In the movie Last Train Home directed by Lixin Fan,
Qin left Sichuan Province and went to Dong Guan city because she wanted more money and be
able to pursue her dreams. Many of China s younger generation of migrant workers are abandoning
agricultural production and moving permanently to the city. (Zhou Jing, China s New Generation
Of Migrant Workers)

Culture And Cultures In India
India is a country divided by its people, cultures and norms. Every state in the country hold its
own different values and beliefs. Being the 7th largest country in the world, it is home to over a
billion people. The country has said to have a total of 1652 languages spoken, where only 31 of
them are official. Let s not even get started on the number of casts and cultures that exist in the
country, because the state I m from, alone has over at least 10. Lack of respectfor each other, the
failure of the educationsystem, and lack of empathy are what s keeping Indiafractured. How can we
expect so many people, who speak different languages, believe in different gods, eat different
food, wear different clothes, and who believe in different rituals, to ever be united as one whole
nation? India not only has too much going for it, but people don t respect each others cultures.
People can be seen disrespecting other states and their beliefs all around the country. When I was
in India, I remember some of my uncles laughing about the way Maharashtrians talked, and how
their education system is ages behind ours. Not only are rituals performed differently in every
state, there is ignorance about how their way of doing something is the right way. People in
northern India drink massive amounts on weddings, and are known to be very loud. Where
people in the west don t appreciate drinking on weddings, whereas people in South India don t

The Necessary And Proper Clause And Its Effect On History
The Necessary and Proper Clause and Its Effect on History The Constitution was written in order
to replace the Articles of Confederation and create a centralized government. Times continue to
change, and therefore laws must be altered such to keep up with those changes. This was the
sole purpose of the amending process of the Constitution. The purpose of the very first
amendment was to allow Congress the authority to get involved with state powers that was not
allowed at first. This article, Article 1, has been very controversial and confusing at times. It has
been a part of our judicial system in judgment of laws and their necessity and still affects us
today. Article I, Section 8 states The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties,
imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of
the United states, but all duties, imposts and excises should be uniform throughout the United
States. Overall, to make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution
the foreign powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United
states, or in any department or office thereof (law.cornell.edu). What exactly does this mean? The
Framers of the Constitution were trying to protect the states from foreign military warfare and
commercial warfare against one another. This article gives Congress permission to promote the

The Ethics Of The Law Essay
When it comes to large sums of money, it is not uncommon for the spender to feel they have
been ripped off or become over protected. The practice of law is no exception to this
phenomenon, and crocked lawyers and paralegals have negatively contributed to the notion. On
several occasions law professionals have taken client money for personal use, acting against the
law and rules of professional conduct. Although lawyers and paralegals have their own
individual rules and guidelines to abide by, they follow the same professional structure of
proper conduct. The rules of conduct for paralegals is governed by the Law Society of Upper
Canada and is the governing body responsible for reports of misconduct. Further investigations
will lay out the proper procedures and tasks that must be completed when a paralegal encounters
an accusations of misconduct, specifically when a client accuses a paralegal of misappropriating
money from the clients trust fund. When it comes to possible options it is important to remember
that by proactively sending a report of the circumstance to the Law Society of Upper Canada with
a detailed list of events, bookkeeping and accounts billed to the client will help your case prior to
the client reporting you to the Law Society. Should a paralegal choose to ignore the threat of the
client, in hopes that the client will not follow through with higher involvement, the paralegal will
then face an audit by the Law Society. If the Law Society is apprised that the

The Article Being Poor, Black And Americ Impact Of...
Introduction
The article Being Poor, Black and American: The Impact of Political, Economic, and Cultural
Forces written by William Julius Wilson is about the struggles and inequalities African Americans
living in poverty encounter. Wilson discussed political, economic and cultural forces that have an
impact on American impoverished communities. The author suggested the natural disaster of
Hurricane Katrina brought the media and world attention to poverty in the United States. Prior to
Katrina, the author believes Americans did not focus or sympathize with poor communities. This
unsympathetic attitude stems from the belief that people are poor because they did not work hard
enough, or are not doing anything to get out of that situation. After Katrina, Americans started to
notice and care about the impoverished communities because the hurricane was a natural disaster
and out of their control. Overall, the author explains how politics, economics and cultures forced
many families into poverty, and diminishes the idea that people live in poverty because of their
own shortcomings.
Political Force
The author explained how the government established policies and initiatives that created ghettos
and suburbs. The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) is a program that helped citizens become
homeowners by lending loans. However, only certain neighborhoods qualified for those loans.
Research and data were used to prove that certain areas were considered a loss of investment. The

Svedka Case Study Analysis Essay
Svedka Vodka:
Case Study Analysis
Summary In 1998, entrepreneur and MBA Guillaume Cuvelier was preparing for the launch of
his new distilled spirit, Svedka Vodka. Cuvelier has decided to start a vodka company after
working many years in the spirits industry. Vodka makes up a large share of the spirits American s
drink at 24% of all alcohol consumed (Zuckerman). Vodkaconsumption is also rising across the
US. Svedka is going to be a newcomer in the vodka marketplace going up against many big
opponents in products such as Smirnoff, Grey Goose, Stolichnya and Absolut. Cuvelier s Svedka

The risks associated with this pricing option are heavily outweighed by the benefits that can be
found with establishing a new market and, therefore, this option should be pursued. This strategy
matches the pricing objective Cuvelier had in mind; to optimize market share (Module 8A).
However, it is critical to the success of the establishment of this new market segment that Svedka
successfully brand themselves.
Promotion Options and Solution Branding is critical to a successful new product launch because
brands better allow a customer to identify a firm and judge the product s quality. Brands benefit
the firm in that they secure competitive advantage, allow for a price premium over competitors
and create strong brand loyalty (module 7A). All of these factors are critical to a product s final
identity and the connections that consumers will associate with it. Consumers also tend to
associate an added benefit with successful brands. This is known as brand equity (module 7A).
Svedka had established their brand identity early on. They wanted to be known as high quality
vodka at a relatively inexpensive cost.
A successful branding technique that Svedka could employ would involve piggy backing off of
the success of one of their main competitors: Absolut vodka. Prior to this time, Absolut has been
the sole distiller of Vodka that is exported from Sweden, and is considered to be extremely high in
quality. By branding themselves as the other Swedish vodka, Svedka

Reducing Acid Rain through Mining and Smelting Industries http://miningandacidrain.weebly.com
What is Acid Rain?
Acid rain is rain that has been made acidic by certain pollutants in the air and has low pH levels
that can harm the environment. It is a type of acid deposition that can appear in many forms such
as, wet deposition, which can be rain, sleet snow or fog that is more acidic than normal, and dry
deposition, where gases and dust particles become acidic. (Epa.gov) Acid deposition in wet and
dry forms, falls on buildings, cars and trees and makes lakes acidic, which then leads to the danger
of plant and animal life. Dry acid deposition though, can be inhaled by humans, which can then
cause health problems. (Epa.gov)
How is Acid Rain Created?
When fossil fuels are burned to create electricity pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen
oxides are released into the air. They then mix with oxygen and water in the air to form acid rain.
These chemicals can travel long distances in the rain before being deposited. (Epa.gov)
There are several different pollutants that can lead to acid rain such as SO2, SO3, NO2, and CO2.
These pollutants react with water to create acids as shown below.
Sulfur dioxide + water пѓ sulfurous acid
Sulfur trioxide + water пѓ sulfuric acid
Nitrogen dioxide + water пѓ nitric acid + nitrous acid
Carbon dioxide + water пѓ carbonic acid
Although Mining does not directly create acid rain, it does lead

The Dangers of Smokeless Tobacco Essay
Through with Chew
Using smokeless tobacco does not require inhaling smoke into the lungs, so therefore it is
completely safer than smoking cigarette, right? Wrong. Unfortunately, smokeless and harmless are
not interchangeable terms; as a matter of fact, there is absolutely no such thing as smokeless tobacco
. Smokeless tobacco products come in many different shapes and forms, such as dip, chew, and
snuff. These types of products allow users to get a kick of nicotine without having to inhale the
smoke of cigarettes, so it is not surprising why they re so popular. Most users are unaware of it, but
these products can be just as unsafe, if not even more dangerous, than cigarettes in an abundance of
ways. This misunderstanding causes many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sugar is added to enhance the flavor of smokeless tobacco, increasing the risk for tooth decay ( It
May Be Smokeless 2). The sugar found in smokeless tobacco chemically reacts with the bacteria
naturally found on teeth, causing them to slowly decay. Other very common traits that smokeless
tobacco users have are bad breath, tooth discoloration, and sensitive teeth; all of these effects are
very common in abusive users and can be permanent if not cared for.
Also, the main reason these smokeless tobacco products are so dangerous is because of the all the
hazardous chemicals found inside them, such as nicotine. Nicotine is a chemical found in all
tobacco products that has many health effects on the human body. The difference between cigarette
users, who inhale nicotine containing smoke into the lungs, and smokeless users is that they absorb
the chemicals through their oral cavities, getting nicotine to eventually travel into their
bloodstreams. (Julie 1). As a matter of fact, users [of smokeless tobacco] generally absorb more
nicotine from smokeless tobacco products than from cigarettes (Julie 2). If more people were aware
of this fact, they would definitely think twice before chewing/dipping again. When individuals buy
any smokeless tobacco product on the market, they are also unknowingly purchasing the many
deadly chemicals that come with it. Furthermore, smokeless tobacco products are critically harmful

Notes On Trading Profile And Goals
Trading profile and goals
Generally there is an enormous amount of information available to the traders. So in order to
trade profitably traders should take only essential information into consideration for analysis. In
this paper we trade a portfolio of options, namely 10 BHPC98 puts and 10 BHPC88 calls both
with the same strike date and price as evidenced in Appendix B. The trading strategy we will
employ is called a long straddle and is usually amenable to day traders owing to the availability of
stop loss orders on the Commsec platform. Information such as companies circumstances, media
announcements, public reports and historical data are all important information available to
establish a trading profile and goals. For example, this trade works best when an imminent
announcement is pending that increases implied volatility or impacts on the share price
significantly. One such occasion would be a half year reports due out in February 2016. Thus, in
the process of building the trade we distill our trading profile.
This trade requires fundamental analysis (and completely avoids technical analysis), which is based
on traditional economic theory and focuses on the fundamental value inside a company. Usually
this involves taking the company s macro economic form, future opportunities and operating
conditions as measurements to estimate their market value. With this information we can determine
the worth of At the Money options (ATM) required to set up the long straddle.

Prometheus s Journey
A new beginning was laid forth the day Prometheus discovered Individualism and the importance
of the ego, though for now, he had an experiential task laid upon his broad shoulders.
Forevermore, he will continue to spread the ideology which has blessed him, Gaia, and his newly
born son, Odysseus. Now that several years have passed since his grand discovery, his plans were to
awe his once former brothers and sisters with his new found knowledge. Moreover, Prometheus
had been working on the marvels of the old world with a working automobile(being a classic red

Prometheus walked throughout the city in search of his former department, there happened to be a

James And The Giant Peach
Have you ever read James and the Giant Peach as a kid? I have. I was very surprised to find out
that it is on the list for the most banned books in the US. I have read the book many times in my
childhood, and really want others to be able to continue and enjoy it. Many kids have the book
read to them before they even go to school. Many teachers and parents agree that it is not rational
to ban the book. The Giant Peach should stay in schools and libraries! It is a classic book, it
teaches many important life lessons to the young, it is a good read for all ages and lastly, the
counterclaims to the book are just outright absurd.

fiction, according to studies, reading fiction helps develop our imagination and creativity, helps
us feel empathy, reduces stress and even helps us lengthen our memories and decrease our
chances to getting mental diseases. There is the claim that the book is too sexual, they get it
from this quote, The spider... ran a long black tongue delicately over her lips In this scene,
James thinks that the spider is hungry, and is going to eat him. (which turns out to be false) It
doesn t make sense that a book should get challenged for a spider licking her lips, it is not a
sexual act. Even if it was sexual, which it isn t, kids wouldn t understand it. Lastly, there is the
argument that James is too disobedient, and would provide a bad role model for kids. The book
is teaching kids to get out of an abusive relationship. It might be hard for kids to hear about an
abused kid, but unfortunately, for some kids, it is a reality. And they should learn to get out of or
report abuse. Additionally, James is a great role model, he is brave, smart, and perseveres through
his problems and challenges. The book is an all around great book, the good

Atyotypical BCR-ABL Translocation
This paper is a short case study focused on a patient with an atypical BCR ABL translocation in
CML. The 80 year old male patient presented with a history of two months of worsening fatigue,
weakness, shortness of breath and weight loss. Blood tests showed mild anemia, normal platelets,
and leukocytosis with elevated myelocytes and metamyelocytes. The bone marrowaspirate showed a
hypercellular marrow with 90% myeloid cells, but no myeloblasts. A karyotype was performed
on the cells from the marrow aspirate; it revealed the Philadelphia chromosome translocation.
This confirmed the diagnosis of CML. Further PCR study was done on the patient s RNA and it
revealed an atypical band on the gel. This band was purified from the gel and sequenced. It

Reducing the inflammation that triggers your signs and symptoms is the main goal for patients
with IBD. Many types of medicine can help reduce inflammation, including anti inflammatory
drugs, and drugs that suppress the immune system. There are five categories of medication used as
part of the treatment for IBD, such as biologic therapies, corticosteroids, amino salicylates,
immunomodulators, and antibiotics. Currently, there are many different types and options of
treatment plans that can be prescribed by a physician to control the symptoms and signs of
Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Each of these treatments has certain actions and a number of side
effects. In most cases, these medications may lead to symptom relief, and also to long term
recovery and reduce several risks of complications. Do not stop your treatment plan until the doctor

Analysis Of Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading...
Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading Holofernes
Although now praised for her work as an incredibly accomplished, feminist artist, Artemisia
Gentileschi s works were nearly expunged from history by those who believed her incapable of
such skill. As a female painter in the 17th century she faced innumerable challenges in pursuing
work as an artist, including, but not limited to; her exclusion from apprenticeship in the arts, the
damage sustained to her reputation after a lengthy rape trial in which she was tortured to prove
her credibility and subsequent defamation after the trial. After her death critics claimed her work
as her father s or husband s, not until recently did she begin to see the credit she deserved
(Poggioli, 2016). One of her most famous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These works both demonstrate her use of dramatic chiaroscuro, most likely as a result of the
influence of Caravaggio in her training, and her vivid use of color, as well as her ability to capture
a moment in time on canvas (Art History Archive).
In Judith Slaying Holofernes (V. II.) circa 1620, Gentileschi depicts the climactic moment of the
biblical story in which Judith, with the help of her maidservant, decapitates Holofernes. While a
popular subject to be painted at the time, Gentileschi s depiction is unique in the way that she
...creates a far more violent and graphic scene, dramatizing the intense physical effort required on
the part of Judith and her maid to kill their enemy... (Visual Arts Cork). In fact, Cosimo de
Medici, for whom this work was commissioned for, kept the work hidden from public view on
account of how graphic it was (Conliffe, 2016). Her portrayal differs greatly from the way many
painters at the time painted this story, specifically in the way that both Judith and her maidservant
are much more physically and purposefully involved in this act of violence. It is important to

example of multiple access technology, through which several number of transmitter can send
information in a single communication channel. In case of CDMA a particular bandwidth can shared
between several number of users. To permit this technique to achieve without undue interference
between users, spread spectrum technology and a special coding scheme are used by CDMA. In
modern era every people want to use things which is smaller in size, can have more functionality

which helps achieve our objective and demand. To achieve this human wanting the scientists have
developed a new concept that is nanotechnology. Nano implies 10^( 9) which is very small . After
nano scale development, the scientists of the semiconductor had faced many challenges. The
greater challenge was how to combine the Intellectual properties(IP) from various sources quickly
and efficiently. These have been overcome by introducing system on chip technology which is

Everyone will form their own opinion when it comes to the ground breaking decision to fire

Instantly, rumors began to circulate that Cavs star LeBron James was in some way involved with

ball movement. That s what needs to be the main focus for this team place emphasis on pace and

There is nothing wrong with this team. I mean they re still 33 12 and still maintain the best record

already been some noticeable adjustments made. The Cavaliers will be scrutinized for every little

A Comparison of Oedipus and Odysseus Essay
Similarities Between Oedipus and Odyssues
Since the beginning of time epic tales have been passed on from generation to generation as a form
of entertainment. Even though each epic is different in its plot, every epic has certain features in
common. The prime example of their similarities is their main character, the hero of the epic. The
hero s behavior changes from the beginning to the end of the tale. Since the plot revolves around
the epic hero, in most cases, they are made to seem God like, or larger then life, in their capabilities
and strengths. The hero constantly has to conquer major obstacles to achieve their initial and final
goal. Usually the hero is tremendously suspicious of other characters intensions. ... Show more

Oedipus and Odysseus are both considered heroes. They are extremely similar in their actions
as well as their personalities. For example, Oedipus and Odysseus are both extremely suspicious
of others for fear of their own lives. Their suspicious nature is not unprovoked. When Odysseus
visits Hades, Agamemnon tells him, Never be too trustful even of your wife, nor show her all
that is in your mind (Homer 172). Agamemnon had lost his life by the hand of his own wife,
Clytemnestra. In the Greek story, Agamemnon, written by Aeschylus, after Clytemnestra murders
Agamemnon she says, ...I feel no shame...for me, I have had long enough to prepare this wrestle
victory, it has come at last (Aeschylus 44). Clytemnestra was happy that her premeditated
murder of her husband succeeded. Agamemnon does not want Odysseus to face the same
consequences he faced. Odysseus is following this advice even before Agamemnon gave it to
him. Odysseus never told a stranger who he really was. He always made up a story of where he
was from and who is. Then he would bring up the name Odysseus to see what they really thought
of him. He did not want to put himself in danger if the person did not like him. When he returns to
Ithaca he also did this to his wife, Penelope. Athena turned him into a beggar. Penelope approached
him in this form and asked about her distant husband. When Odysseus said, He is still alive, a tear

limiting, notwithstanding the fact that I might not want a specific person inside my private space

pasteurized world, where, despite the rhetoric in favor of the different, what has been sought in fact
is the homogeneity of humans: Everybody must embrace the same values and obey some

The issue is quite confusing, I admit. I could never declare that I admire Sharia Law or, to be quite
crude, the habit of circumcising women by the extirpation of their clitoris. This must stop. Period.
But there is something flagrantly wrong in the way we are trying to accomplish it, and it s simply
not working.
Of course, to believe the electing Donald Trump will solve all these problems is an obviously
absurd leap of faith, and I don t expect any of that. But somehow, somewhere, no matter how subtly
it is, something must be done to stop this world trend that is clearly causing a lot of harm.
And this is my point today. In the next couple of weeks, while American politics is being prepared
to reach the next level, I m going to give myself a break. I have a highly personal, much
anticipating work of art to take care of, and I surely hope the world will allow me to do it in peace
and quiet.
After all, love and beauty must begin at

Retail Possums Research Paper
The use of 1080 poison to control possums within New Zealand has been quite a big biological
issue over the years. The bushtail possums were introduced to New Zealand in 1837 for the fur
trade by Australia. This poison is commonly used in New Zealand to target the control of the
possum population as well as other invasive rodents, as these pest eat vulnerable native animals
such as, birds, lizards and insects, but this poison is highly toxic for deer, and dogs. Minimizing the
number of possums mean that the agriculture and forestry to will be able to thrive more. Possums
themselves don t have any predators to control their population, as they can live in any New
Zealand condition, which has now caused human involvement to help control the issue. Biological
concepts and processes 1080 is the better known name for sodium monofluoroacetate, which is a
naturally occurring chemical, produced in at least 40 plant species that grow on high fluoride soils
in Western Australia, South Africa and Brazil. Sodium fluoroacetate is a natural occurring
poisonous chemical within the plants, of which humans have used to their advantage as a pesticide

My family does our part, making a small difference whenever we are there. We have 3
homemade Timms trap. By using a tough polyethylene plastic, weighing around 1.25kgs that is
bright yellow that attracts the possums. We but a quarter of a carrot inside so as the possum
comes, it sticks its head in and with any sudden movement the trap goes off, getting the possum
around it neck. This is very effective way and humane way to kill the animal, as well as it not
needing to suffer, dead within seconds The next day we would tae the dead possum down to the
beach, dig a deep whole and bury it. We would set the traps every night while we are there. There
is a possibility that a weka could stick its head in the trap, but we have never encountered that

The Design And Production Of Artifacts
Neri Oxman Introduction Over the long trajectory of architectural design history, the design and
production of artifacts has been characterized by the growing separation of form making from its
natural foundations in material conditions. In contradistinction to craft production (Sennett 2008)
in which material and form are naturally intertwined into a tradition of making, modern design and
production have historically evolved away from this integration towards the compartmentalization
of form making as a process independent of its sources in material knowledge. At least since the
Renaissance, with the emergence of architectural theories, form making, as the production of form
inspired by theory, has become an autonomous body of knowledge.... Show more content on

Eventually, this non material approach to the design and the automation of construction were to be
reinforced under the command of computer aided design. The digital revolution, which marked the
change from analog to digital technology, has transformed the designer?s drafting board into a
digital canvas. Form, it seemed, was now divorced completely from the physical reality of its
manifestation. Granted, these new design spaces afforded much liberation in terms of formal
expression, but it has also broadened the gap between form and matter and made the hierarchical
and sequential separation of modeling, analysis and fabrication processes infinitely more
pronounced. The implementation and broad absorption of enhanced computational design tools in
architectural practice has, since the early nineties, motivated a renaissance of the formalist project
in architecture; geometrically complex shapes became emblems of creativity in digital design
environments and supported the design mastery of complex geometries in form generation. This
formal and geometric design orientation has also addressed ?free form? design and architecture
along with their enabling technologies as part of the larger design phenomenon of the ?mass
customization? of ?non standard? form. Today, perhaps under

The article that was selected to be critiqued is, Are Violent Video Games Harmful to Children and Adolescents? . The purpose of this paper is to analyze and critique the research methods and conclusions included by the author of the article. Summary Author, Steven F. Gruel, argues that there is an overwhelming amount of science and research that supports the claim that video games that are violent are indeed harmful to human development (Gruel 2010). It affects their development by causing them to act more violently. He begins by discussing that over time, usage of violent video games among youth has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This proves to be a problem as it does not give the reader all the details. The article expects the reader to agree with the author without knowing the complete information. This takes away from the critical thinking that the reader should do when reading an opinionated article. It is important for the reader to be able to form an opinion on their own and not from just what the author tells them is true. An example from the article is when he claimed that studies have shown evidence that exposure to violent video games reduced the player s ability to control their impulses. (Gruel 2010) As a reader, this statement is substantial to forming an opinion on the issue, but it lacks substance to deduct a thorough understanding of what is being stated. There is no explanation of the experiment where the results came from, no discussion of sample size, no explanation of the type of experiment, and no documentation of the subjects. The reader is left to either fill in the blanks with their own assumptions or blindly trust the author. Weakness: Suggests that Correlation does Equal Causation The next issue that can be found, is he suggests that correlation found in studies equals causation. In the text, he states, Several studies documented a negative relation between amount of time playing video games and school performance among children, adolescents, and college students. (Gruel 2010). With this he correlates video games with doing poorly in schools. This is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States stands for liberty and opportunity and proceeds to stand tall around other nations that cripple with time. Our iconic symbol is the Statue of Liberty, which migrants would first see when they came into our country seeking a better life than they left behind. America is filled with a much perceived wealth, but what may seem like gold to foreigners is actually just pyrite. In the Wizard of Oz, the residents of the famed city are legally required to wear emerald glasses, which make the city appear green and sparkling. Despite the lack of reporting, it is clear that emergency department nurses are frequently victims of violence perpetrated by patients and visitors (Gates et al., 2012, p. 203). Prosecution to the full extent of the law is necessary to decrease the perception that violence against nurses is acceptable. Greater support from public officials and management is necessary to combat this growing problem, with the institution of specific policies and procedures. American And Mexican American Culture Mexican American Being a Latina born in America and growing up here, I was taught celebrating American culture like, Memorial, independence and Labor Day, with the explosion of bright colorful fireworks, the smell of fire when turning on the grill and the best part; no school! Also celebrating Christmas and new year s the American way, going to church, eating, and opening presents on Christmas day. It wasn t until 4 years ago I went to Mexico and realized there s more to my own rooted culture and how lucky I am to have both the American and Mexican culture in my life realizing the generation of Mexican Americans are forming their own culture with both lifestyles. One of the holidays I celebrated in Mexico was the day of the dead, or as called in Spanish El Dia de Los Muertos , which could be considered as Halloween in the America. It is first not celebrated only one day which is October 31st on Halloween. It is celebrated October 31st through November 1st, there is no running towards the neighborhood and ringing doorbells for candy, not even dressing up as a princess or your favorite super hero. Four years ago, I was 13, you could say I was disappointed I didn t get to dress up. I was in confusion and upset that they were missing out on dressing up and getting free candy. The next day my mom told me I would be able to dress up, but not in a costume, in a Mexican traditional dress with bright colors, my hair in a crowned braid and my face painted as a skull. I was ... In the various attempts to reach that common aspiration these movements went through a series of debates, controversies, tensions and strife which was indicative of the Protestant movement from its inception and which brought about the Reformation. The fourth factor that necessitates a new study is the fact that many existing analyses have been biased by the ideas and perceptions of Protestant leaders which have distorted the perception and development of the movement. The last reason McGrath gives for the need of a new study is the fact that Protestantism itself has changed in the last fifty years. This study brings to the reader and to the scholar an updated version of the present day Protestant movement, its impact in present day society and an analysis of its significance in the future of Christianity. McGrath s Christianity s Dangerous Idea attempts to tell the story of Protestantism from its early beginnings up to its present day form. A similar and parallel story is found in Justo Gonzalez s The Story of Christianity in which he also gives a narrative of the origin, growth and development of the Protestant movement from the Reformation to the present day. However, Gonzalez not only gives an account of Protestantism but of Christianity as a whole while McGrath concentrates his study on Protestantism alone. In addition, McGrath not only narrates but also gives a prophetic

While keeping to the general doctrines of the Christian faith, the puritans derived their individuality from Calvinism, focusing on the concept of pre destination. We spent all our free time there, weekends and most of the summer. For years my family enjoyed their time at the clubhouse as we called it. It was our home away from home. There were about 20 cabins there, so it was like our own little community. Just about everyone there was like extended family. Any time someone needed help, the neighbors showed up. Everyone there had similar interests, hunting, fishing, boating and water skiing. I spent most of my days enjoying these activities. Now days times have changed. You can no longer enjoy the things you once could. It has become dangerous to waterski or to even enjoy a boat ride down the river due to the Asian carp. These fish are startled easily by boats, and small watercraft. They can jump ten to twelve feet out of the water causing damage to boats and injuring humans. I have heard of people getting cuts from the fins, black eyes, concussions, broken noses and jaws, and even knocked unconscious from this species of fish. Not only are these Asian Carp causing physical damage, they are wreaking havoc on the ecological system. The main concern from the Asian Carp is the dangerous effects that it is bringing to our ecosystem. As an avid fisherman, this is of great concern to me. This will not only affect me as a fisherman, but also possibly hunters, bird watchers, boaters, even jet skiers and water skiers are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She was able to work her way out of poverty into a better future. There are many similarities between Chen Hong Xia and most migrants in China, but Chen Hong Xia s life is significantly better than most migrants. In this essay we will be comparing and contrasting Chen Hong Xia s expectations, working environment, living environment and children to the migrant workers in China. Like many of the migrant workers in China, Chen Hong Xia wanted a better future in the city and find a job with good working conditions and high wages. Chen Hong Xia comes from a small town in Shandong province, she grew up on a farm producing rice and corn. Although there were many job opportunities in Shan Dong province, all the jobs were agricultural jobs that offered low pay and required lots of physical activity. In the movie Last Train Home directed by Lixin Fan, Qin left Sichuan Province and went to Dong Guan city because she wanted more money and be able to pursue her dreams. Let s not even get started on the number of casts and cultures that exist in the country, because the state I m from, alone has over at least 10. Lack of respectfor each other, the failure of the educationsystem, and lack of empathy are what s keeping Indiafractured. How can we expect so many people, who speak different languages, believe in different gods, eat different food, wear different clothes, and who believe in different rituals, to ever be united as one whole nation? India not only has too much going for it, but people don t respect each others cultures. People can be seen disrespecting other states and their beliefs all around the country. Introduction The article Being Poor, Black and American: The Impact of Political, Economic, and Cultural Forces written by William Julius Wilson is about the struggles and inequalities African Americans living in poverty encounter. Wilson discussed political, economic and cultural forces that have an impact on American impoverished communities. The author suggested the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina brought the media and world attention to poverty in the United States. Prior to Katrina, the author believes Americans did not focus or sympathize with poor communities. This unsympathetic attitude stems from the belief that people are poor because they did not work hard enough, or are not doing anything to get out of that situation. After Katrina, Americans started to notice and care about the impoverished communities because the hurricane was a natural disaster and out of their control. Overall, the author explains how politics, economics and cultures forced many families into poverty, and diminishes the idea that people live in poverty because of their own shortcomings. Political Force The author explained how the government established policies and initiatives that created ghettos and suburbs. The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) is a program that helped citizens become homeowners by lending loans. However, only certain neighborhoods qualified for those loans. Research and data were used to prove that certain areas were considered a loss of investment. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So in order to trade profitably traders should take only essential information into consideration for analysis. In this paper we trade a portfolio of options, namely 10 BHPC98 puts and 10 BHPC88 calls both with the same strike date and price as evidenced in Appendix B. The trading strategy we will employ is called a long straddle and is usually amenable to day traders owing to the availability of stop loss orders on the Commsec platform. Information such as companies circumstances, media announcements, public reports and historical data are all important information available to establish a trading profile and goals. For example, this trade works best when an imminent announcement is pending that increases implied volatility or impacts on the share price significantly. One such occasion would be a half year reports due out in February 2016. Thus, in the process of building the trade we distill our trading profile. This trade requires fundamental analysis (and completely avoids technical analysis), which is based on traditional economic theory and focuses on the fundamental value inside a company. Usually this involves taking the company s macro economic form, future opportunities and operating conditions as measurements to estimate their market value. Reducing the inflammation that triggers your signs and symptoms is the main goal for patients with IBD. Many types of medicine can help reduce inflammation, including anti inflammatory drugs, and drugs that suppress the immune system. There are five categories of medication used as part of the treatment for IBD, such as biologic therapies, corticosteroids, amino salicylates, immunomodulators, and antibiotics. Currently, there are many different types and options of treatment plans that can be prescribed by a physician to control the symptoms and signs of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Each of these treatments has certain actions and a number of side effects. In most cases, these medications may lead to symptom relief, and also to long term recovery and reduce several risks of complications. Do not stop your treatment plan until the doctor instructs you to do so, or you have completed your medication (American Gastoenterological Association). Inflammatory Bowel Disease treatment usually involves either drug therapy or surgery (Clique Health). Signs and symptoms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease can vary according to how severe the inflammation is and where does it occur. • 33. Analysis Of Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading... Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading Holofernes Although now praised for her work as an incredibly accomplished, feminist artist, Artemisia Gentileschi s works were nearly expunged from history by those who believed her incapable of such skill. As a female painter in the 17th century she faced innumerable challenges in pursuing work as an artist, including, but not limited to; her exclusion from apprenticeship in the arts, the damage sustained to her reputation after a lengthy rape trial in which she was tortured to prove her credibility and subsequent defamation after the trial. After her death critics claimed her work as her father s or husband s, not until recently did she begin to see the credit she deserved (Poggioli, 2016). One of her most famous ... These works both demonstrate her use of dramatic chiaroscuro, most likely as a result of the influence of Caravaggio in her training, and her vivid use of color, as well as her ability to capture a moment in time on canvas (Art History Archive). In Judith Slaying Holofernes (V. II.) circa 1620, Gentileschi depicts the climactic moment of the biblical story in which Judith, with the help of her maidservant, decapitates Holofernes. While a popular subject to be painted at the time, Gentileschi s depiction is unique in the way that she ...creates a far more violent and graphic scene, dramatizing the intense physical effort required on the part of Judith and her maid to kill their enemy... (Visual Arts Cork). In fact, Cosimo de Medici, for whom this work was commissioned for, kept the work hidden from public view on account of how graphic it was (Conliffe, 2016). Multiple access technique is a broad area for communication purpose , CDMA is an example of multiple access technology, through which several number of transmitter can send information in a single communication channel. In case of CDMA a particular bandwidth can shared between several number of users. To permit this technique to achieve without undue interference between users, spread spectrum technology and a special coding scheme are used by CDMA. In modern era every people want to use things which is smaller in size, can have more functionality and cost. This can only possible if we can integrate more and more functionality into a single chip which helps achieve our objective and demand. To achieve this human wanting the scientists have developed a new concept that is nanotechnology. Nano implies 10^( 9) which is very small . After nano scale development, the scientists of the semiconductor had faced many challenges. The greater challenge was how to combine the Intellectual properties(IP) from various sources quickly and efficiently. These have been overcome by introducing system on chip technology which is very grooming topic in modern technology. • 41. A Comparison of Oedipus and Odysseus Essay Similarities Between Oedipus and Odyssues Since the beginning of time epic tales have been passed on from generation to generation as a form of entertainment. Even though each epic is different in its plot, every epic has certain features in common. The prime example of their similarities is their main character, the hero of the epic. The hero s behavior changes from the beginning to the end of the tale. Since the plot revolves around the epic hero, in most cases, they are made to seem God like, or larger then life, in their capabilities and strengths. The hero constantly has to conquer major obstacles to achieve their initial and final goal. Usually the hero is tremendously suspicious of other characters intensions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oedipus and Odysseus are both considered heroes. They are extremely similar in their actions as well as their personalities. For example, Oedipus and Odysseus are both extremely suspicious of others for fear of their own lives. Their suspicious nature is not unprovoked. When Odysseus visits Hades, Agamemnon tells him, Never be too trustful even of your wife, nor show her all that is in your mind (Homer 172). Agamemnon had lost his life by the hand of his own wife, Clytemnestra. In the Greek story, Agamemnon, written by Aeschylus, after Clytemnestra murders Agamemnon she says, ...I feel no shame...for me, I have had long enough to prepare this wrestle victory, it has come at last (Aeschylus 44). Clytemnestra was happy that her premeditated murder of her husband succeeded. Agamemnon does not want Odysseus to face the same consequences he faced. Odysseus is following this advice even before Agamemnon gave it to him. Odysseus never told a stranger who he really was. He always made up a story of where he was from and who is. Then he would bring up the name Odysseus to see what they really thought of him. He did not want to put himself in danger if the person did not like him. When he returns to Ithaca he also did this to his wife, Penelope. Athena turned him into a beggar. Penelope approached him in this form and asked about her distant husband. What I see as true nightmare is a pasteurized world, where, despite the rhetoric in favor of the different, what has been sought in fact is the homogeneity of humans: Everybody must embrace the same values and obey some theoretical global leadership. The issue is quite confusing, I admit. I could never declare that I admire Sharia Law or, to be quite crude, the habit of circumcising women by the extirpation of their clitoris. This must stop. Period. But there is something flagrantly wrong in the way we are trying to accomplish it, and it s simply not working. In the next couple of weeks, while American politics is being prepared to reach the next level, I m going to give myself a break. The bushtail possums were introduced to New Zealand in 1837 for the fur trade by Australia. This poison is commonly used in New Zealand to target the control of the possum population as well as other invasive rodents, as these pest eat vulnerable native animals such as, birds, lizards and insects, but this poison is highly toxic for deer, and dogs. Minimizing the number of possums mean that the agriculture and forestry to will be able to thrive more. Possums themselves don t have any predators to control their population, as they can live in any New Zealand condition, which has now caused human involvement to help control the issue. Biological concepts and processes 1080 is the better known name for sodium monofluoroacetate, which is a naturally occurring chemical, produced in at least 40 plant species that grow on high fluoride soils in Western Australia, South Africa and Brazil. • 44. The Design And Production Of Artifacts Neri Oxman Introduction Over the long trajectory of architectural design history, the design and production of artifacts has been characterized by the growing separation of form making from its natural foundations in material conditions. In contradistinction to craft production (Sennett 2008) in which material and form are naturally intertwined into a tradition of making, modern design and production have historically evolved away from this integration towards the compartmentalization of form making as a process independent of its sources in material knowledge. At least since the Renaissance, with the emergence of architectural theories, form making, as the production of form inspired by theory, has become an autonomous body of knowledge.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eventually, this non material approach to the design and the automation of construction were to be reinforced under the command of computer aided design. The digital revolution, which marked the change from analog to digital technology, has transformed the designer?s drafting board into a digital canvas. Form, it seemed, was now divorced completely from the physical reality of its manifestation. Granted, these new design spaces afforded much liberation in terms of formal expression, but it has also broadened the gap between form and matter and made the hierarchical and sequential separation of modeling, analysis and fabrication processes infinitely more pronounced. The implementation and broad absorption of enhanced computational design tools in architectural practice has, since the early nineties, motivated a renaissance of the formalist project in architecture; geometrically complex shapes became emblems of creativity in digital design environments and supported the design mastery of complex geometries in form generation. This formal and geometric design orientation has also addressed ?free form? design and architecture along with their enabling technologies as part of the larger design phenomenon of the ?mass customization? of ?non standard? form.
