Essay On Dachau Concentration Camp
Dachau Concentration Camp Throughout the existence of Dachau, over 180,000 people passed
through the main camp. After Adolf Hitler became Chancellor, Dachau was built, so that made it the
first regular concentration camp built in Germany. Even though Dachau was not very big, there were a
lot of people in the camp. There were a ton of people in the camp there was not all the many buildings
inside of it. Even though Dachau was the first concentration camp, used as a model for the rest of
them, it was still a very dangerous camp where thousands of people died. Dachau was a concentration
camp, but it did not remain a normal concentration camp through its existence. It was the first regular
concentration camp established by the National Socialists(Nazi) government (United States Holocaust
Memorial Museum 1). Dachau was the first concentration camp built in Germany, a few weeks after
Hitler became Chancellor. Dachau eventually turned into a death camp ... Show more content on

The camp was divided into two different sections, the camp and crematoria area. In the camp area,
there were 32 barracks, including one for clergy imprisoned for opposing the Zazi regime and one was
reserved for medical experiments (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum 1). There was a camp
administration located at the main entrance of the camp. In the camp, there was an area of buildings
that included the kitchen, showers, laundry, workshops and a prison block. There was a courtyard in
between the prison and kitchen that was used for the execution of prisoners. Surrounding the camp
was an electrified barbed wire fence, a wall, a ditch and seven guard towers. A new crematorium area
was built in 1942 next to the main camp area. The area consisted of an old crematorium, a new
crematorium, and a gas chamber. There wasn t any evidence to prove that the gas chamber was used to
kill anyone. Dachau was not very large, but there was still a lot in

Artemis God Of Hunt Research Paper
Many years ago, Artemis the god of hunting was a good man and he always went out for a run in the
morning through the woods. He always saw animals in the woods and he loved when he would see a
big buck running beside him. One day Artemis was going to run 2 miles in the woods. He came to this
house where Zeus the god of the Sky was living. Artemis knocked on the door and Zeus came out and
Artemis couldn t believe it. It was his best friend from 8th grade. They both went inside and Zeus had
made Artemis lunch and they hung out with each other for awhile. It was getting close to dark and
Artemis had to leave because he had to run 2 miles to get home. When he was running through the
woods on the way home he spotted something in the woods. He

Survey of Art History
Survey of Art History II
Man Ray like many other artists did not care to have his personal life shown in his art. He wanted to
be viewed and recognized for his work which included sculptures, paintings, and photography. Man
Ray was mostly influenced by Stieglitz s photographs. Man Ray used a similar style to Stieglitz. He
captured images that created an unvarnished look at the photos subject. Man Ray discovered a new
way to create his photos; by accident in his work room he discovered how to manipulate objects in his
photos on pieces of photosensitive paper. In the year 1914, at a seminal exhibition, Man Ray
introduced himself to African art. Man Ray did this at the Alfred Stieglitz 291 Gallery. Man Ray s
photograph Noire et Blanche became an icon for modern photography. Although this was his most
famous and widely known piece, Man Ray s less known work made a greater impact and influence on
African art. Photographs with African art pieces began to flourish greatly after Man Ray s break
through with his Noire et Blanche photograph. These photographs shed light on many day to day
issues such as: issues of race, identity, sex, separatism, and disenfranchisement. Noire et Blanche
shows Kiki Man Ray s companion with her eyes closed and her head sideways on a table in a very
relaxed manner. With her left hand, Kiki is holding, an African mask known as a Baule Gba Gba
mask. The mask is held straight above the table and right up next to her face. In this time, it was

Why Did Japan Attack Australia
Intro Not long before 10:00am, on February 19, 1942 the Japanese forces commenced air raids on
Darwin. Over 260 enemy planes attacked Australian and US shipping, the harbour of the town,
military and civil aerodromes and the local hospital. There were two waves of attacks which were part
of Japan s efforts to harm Australia s confidence, hold back the use of Darwin s military base, and at
last secure neighbouring Timor. At least 243 people were killed in the attack and up to 400 people
were injured. Eight ships in the harbour were sunk and twenty military aircraft were destroyed. Over a
space of almost two years the air attacks continued and about half of Darwin s population ended up
moving south. Why did Japan bomb Australia? Japan invaded ... Show more content on

During World War Two, the Japanese flew 64 raids on Darwin and 33 raids on further targets in
Northern Australia. On 19 February 1942, with a harbour full of Allied ships, Darwin was shot against
by 188 Japanese planes. Since Pearl Harbour on 7 December 1941 this was the largest Japanese attack.
In Darwin there were 27 Allied ships in the harbour and around 30 aircraft at the Darwin Civil and
RAAF airfields. The first Japanese attack on Darwin occurred on the 19th of February 1942. This first
attack (and the one that occurs the next day) was planned and controlled by Mitsuo Fuchida, who is
the Japanese commander also responsible the Pearl Harbour attack. The Japanese attacked with around
188 planes that were launched from Japanese land bases and aircraft carriers in the Timor Sea. The
Japanese fighters attacked land targets and shipping, dive bombers attacked the ships in the harbour,
the military and civilian aerodromes and the hospital. Fighter planes accompanied the dive bombers
for extra protection from Australian and allied planes. Eight Australian ships were sunk and nearly all
others were ruined by bombs or machine gunfire. Australia s only air defences were ten fighter planes
that encountered the Japanese planes. Only one Australia fighter survived the first attack, while the
Japanese only suffered one or two losses. An hour after the first attack ended, the second attack began.
For about 25 minutes heavy bombers attacked the Royal Australian Air Force Base at Parap. A
minimum of 243 Australians and allies were killed in the two raids and around 400 were wounded.
Twenty military aircraft were destroyed, most civil and military facilities in Darwin were destroyed
and eight ships at anchor in the harbour were sunk. (Australian Government ,

Pre Reformation Research Paper
The State of the Pre Reformation Church
There are various ideas about the state of the church before the Reformation. Some individuals say
that the church was still considered to be a pillar of hope and comfort for the English people to look
up to and gain reassurance from in the 1500s. Others however say that the church was in a horrific
state, promoting wrong doing and malevolence. The question to be further considered is whether the
church during the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries fulfilled its functions while keeping the
good English people satisfied.
It has been argued that the pre reformation church was a corrupt and failing institution and therefore

A Bishop was also obliged to attend Parliament, as he owed the service of counsel to the king, but not
many attended regularly. Another grievance towards the Bishops was sexual irregularity with many
Bishops seemingly ignoring their vow of chastity by having mistresses and illegitimate children.
Neglect of the care of souls and simony were also attributed to the Bishops.
The lower clergy and parish priests on the other hand were viewed as both rapacious and ignorant.
They were very important for the vast majority of the English people, living in isolated rural
communities as they were the only effective representatives of the universal church. Therefore, if they
were ineffective many peasants would suffer. According to figures quoted by G R Elton this could be
true. Educational standards were very low, so it was fairly easy for somebody to become a parish
priest. A sixteenth century survey of the diocese of Gloucester showed that out of 311 clergy 168
could not recite the Ten Commandments, and 33 could not locate them in the Bible. 10 could recite the
Lords Prayer, and 39 did not know where to find it in the Bible. Between 1500 50, 869 East Anglican
clergy died and left wills and these reveal that only 158 possessed any books at all, and only 17 left
Bibles. This would undoubtedly be a

Essay on Navajo-Hopi Lande Dispute
Navajo Hopi Lande Dispute
When first considering the Navajo Hopi land dispute as a topic of research, I anticipated a relatively
light research paper discussing the local skirmishes between the two tribes. However, my research has
yielded innumerable volumes of facts, figures and varying viewpoints on a struggle that has
dominated the two tribes for over 100 years. The story is an ever changing one, evolving from local
conflict to forcible relocation to big business interests. The incredible breadth of the dispute s history
makes it impossible to objectively cover the entire progression from all viewpoints. I will therefore
focus on current issues and their historical causes facing the two tribes as they mutually approach ...

The land was officially partitioned in 1974 by mandate of P.L. 93 531 also known as the Navajo Hopi
Land Settlement Act of 1974 without the input or consent of those from both tribes actually occupying
the land in question. The partition equally divided the JUA into the Navajo Partitioned Lands (NPL)
and the Hopi Partitioned Lands (HPL). About 12,000 Navajo were stranded on newly declared Hopi
land and, likewise, about 300 Hopi families found themselves on Navajo land. Many hold the belief
that government sponsored and styled tribal council and influential energy interests contrived the JUA
dispute to promote congressional action. The US has subsequently spent over $400 million to relocate
the families to tract housing in nearby cities.
The disproportionate amount of Navajo forced to relocate heightened age old anxieties between the
Navajo and Hopi. The Navajo are still at the center of the relocation controversy as many traditional
Dineh families have chosen to remain within the HPL in defiance of 1974 s P.L. 93 531. The Navajo
traditionalists view their land as representing the essence of their being, says Jennie Joe of the Native
American Research and Training Center at the University of Arizona in Tucson, who conducted a

Joseph Plumb Martin, Biography
Born in western Massachusetts in 1760, Joseph Plumb Martin was the son of a pastor; at the age of
seven, he began living with his affluent grandfather. Almost as soon as the Revolutionary War broke
out in the spring of 1775, young Joseph was eager to lend his efforts to the patriotic cause. In June
1776, at the tender age of 15, Martin enlisted for a six month stint in the Connecticut state militia. By
the end of the year, Martin had served at the Battles of Brooklyn, Kip s Bay and White Plains in New
York. Though Martin declined to reenlist when his six month stint ended in December 1776, he later
changed his mind, and on April 12, 1777 he enlisted in the 8th Connecticut division of General George
Washington s Continental Army, led by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On arriving at Valley Forge at the start of that famously long winter, Martin wrote: Our prospect was
indeed dreary. In our miserable condition, to go into the wild woods and build us habitations to stay
(not to live) in, in such a weak, starved and naked condition, was appalling in the highest degree....But
dispersion, I believe, was not thought of, at least, I did not think of it. We had engaged in the defense
of our injured country and were willing, nay, we were determined to persevere as long as such
hardships were not altogether intolerable...
Road to Yorktown
In 1778, Private Martin was transferred to the light infantry for a brief period, during which his unit
operated against Tory sympathizers in the Hudson Highlands region. He saw little action for the next
year, and in December 1778 began a winter encampment with his regiment at Morristown, New
Jersey. This difficult period saw the army s first mutiny of the war, as Martin wrote: We had borne as
long as human nature could endure, and to bear longer we considered folly. But Martin persevered,
and in the summer of 1780 he was recommended for appointment as a sergeant in the new engineer
corps, the Sappers and Miners. Among the corps principal duties were working with mines and with
saps, as the approach trenches to enemy works were called.
In the summer of 1781, Martin was called upon to perform his new

St. Patrick Research Paper
St. Patrick of Ireland is one of the world s most popular saints. He was born in Roman Britain and
when he was fourteen or so, he was captured by Irish pirates during a raiding party and taken to
Ireland as a slave to herd and tend sheep. At the time, Ireland was a land of Druids and pagans but
Patrick turned to God and wrote his memoir, The Confession. In The Confession, he wrote: The love
of God and his fear grew in me more and more, as did the faith, and my soul was roused, so that, in a
single day, I have said as many as a hundred prayers and in the night, nearly the same. I prayed in the
woods and on the mountain, even before dawn. I felt no hurt from the snow or ice or rain. Patrick s
captivity lasted until he was twenty, when he escaped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He worked many miracles and wrote of his love for God in Confessions. After years of living in
poverty, traveling and enduring much suffering he died March 17, 461. He died in Saul, where he had
built the first Irish church. He is believed to be buried in Down Cathedral, Down Patrick. His grave
was marked in 1990 with a granite stone. In His Footsteps: Patrick was a humble, pious, gentle man,
whose love and total devotion to and trust in God should be a shining example to each of us. So
complete was his trust in God, and of the importance of his mission, he feared nothing not even death.
The Breastplate, Patrick s poem of faith and trust in God: Christ be within me, Christ behind me,
Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me, Christ beneath
me, Christ above me, Christ inquired, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in
mouth of friend and stranger. Legend credits St. Patrick with teaching the Irish about the doctrine of
the Holy Trinity by showing people the shamrock, a three leafed plant, using it to illustrate the
Christian teaching of three persons in one God. This story first appears in writing in 1726, though it
may be older. The shamrock has since become a central symbol for St Patrick s

Zodiac Killer Informative Speech
I have chosen to do my informative speech on the unsolved mystery of the Zodiac Killer. Methods I
will be using to captivate my audience from the book will be word pictures, numbers, key words, and
to speak claerly. I plan on starting my speech with word pictures by setting the scene of the 1960s
1970s, this was the time period the Zodiac Killer was on his killing spree. This will help them be able
to picture what it was like to live back then and hopefully help them remember my speech. I will use
numbers to get my point across of how many people were killed and affected by the Zodiac Killer
during his reign of terror. This will establish logos into my speech. I am also going to use key words to
keep my audience interested and involved, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing this I will have established pathos and hopefully this will grab my audience s attention.
Since the Zodiac case is still considered unsolved to this day, I will let my audience decide for
themselves who they think the killer was. I will only present facts and leave my opinion out so that it
does not persuade anyone. This will establish a motive for my audience to listen to me, so that they
can figure out who the killer is. From the book, I will use different learning styles to get my point
across, I will also do something unexpected, and I will go review my main point. To get my point
across to everyone in the audience I will use different learning styles. For the auditory learners, I will
be speaking clearly, so that they can hear and understand all my information. I will be using a
PowerPoint with both words and pictures for the visual learners and the visual print learners. Lastly
for the kinesthetic learners I will ask for a show of hands of who has ever heard of the Zodiac Killer. I
will do this so that they can be involved somehow. To keep my audience interested I will do
something unexpected. I m not going to say in this paper what I will be doing, because I want it to be
a surprise to everyone. I could end my speech with the rhetorical question now after hearing all the
facts, who do you think the Zodiac Killer is? or I could say my grandfather was the Zodiac Killer and

Homemade Is The New Organic By Rachel Jones For The Atlantic
Nowadays, many people start living a healthy lifestyle. People realize an importance of caring about
what is in their food and benefits of home cooked meals over processed food. Home Cooking is not
just healthier, but also it has tons of benefits. Simple examples are saving money, controlling body
weight and avoiding food poisoning. Homemade is the New Organic written by Rachel Jones for the
Atlantic (2015), discussed the new food trend cooking at home. In her article, she explained how
cooking is becoming popular recently. An earlier time, a family which has low income had no choice
but to use homemade food. Today, however, meaning of homemade food changes. People start to
appreciate the goodness of cooking at home and intentionally choose the homemade. Moreover, she
mentioned that social media has a huge effect on this change. Since we have all the necessary tools
and food in our kitchen, only a bit of time needs to be devoted. Basically, she tried to inform a general
public that home cooking has an essential value in our life. In my opinion, Rachel successfully
achieves her intention with the help of following rhetorical strategies: logos, ethos and counterpoint.
First, Rachel adopts logos to illustrate the emerging importance of homemade meals to the audience.
In other words, using general reasoning and facts, she tried to make her article more persuading. In the
beginning of the article, she acknowledges her personal facts to demonstrate her idea. For example,

Union organizers were dismissed and union meetings forbidden as indicated by Fossum (2012) who
writes that employers used security forces to police the workforce, forcibly kept out organizers, or
ferreted out internal union activists or sympathizers from the late 1800s to World War II (p. 196). The
fact that many US employers look down on, discourage, and blatantly combat unionization is not a
recent occurrence as successful organization thereof can result in decreased profits and inflated
personnel costs. Fossum (2012) argues that employers have long resisted attempts to unionize (p. 215)
and implemented various strategies to remain union free and greedily persist in their efforts toward
heightened profitability through utilization of unfair labor practices. Lawful Strategies for Union
Avoidance Although Hoffa and the Teamsters faced stark resistance from employers concerning
unionization, the resulting creation and evolution of employment legislation has since improved
working conditions and impacted the type of strategies implemented by employers to avoid
organization. Employers are taking more proactive and less historically barbaric approaches to address
employee job satisfaction and union avoidance. Godard and Delaney (2000) argued that traditional

Reflection On Coaching Shadowing
I have critically reviewed both coaches A and B comparing them to each other. I will use Gibbs (1988)
model to help me reflective critically on the coaching shadowing I had to undertake as part of my
Sport Studies degree with the University of Hertfordshire during semester A. The reflection is for both
experiences with Coach A and B.
Coach A
Description
I undertook my coach shadowing in November for three weeks at Watford Academy. Sessions were
two hours long; the plan was to shadow at 8 hours for both coaches but as their training schedule
clashed with me under 12 team matches I was not able to do so. However, the overall experience
involved me shadowing coach A from a distance because the head of academy believed it would be
best I give the players and coach space. The sessions involved a mixture of technical practices at the
start with passing, dribbling and shooting activities then would progress into tactical practices such as
5v3 possession, one versus one on goal, 6v3 counter/overload scenarios and would normally end with
a small sided game. I was also able to observe a match with Arsenal V Watford U16. Arsenal won 5 0.
As for coach B I coach shadowed for four sessions, 90 minutes long, sessions included 30 minutes of
technical work, 10 minute tag game, 25 minutes on overloads and 20 minute match time.
Feelings
During the start of the experience, I felt thrilled, animated and overjoyed to have an opportunity to
shadow with Watford s academy. I saw it as an opportunity to get my foot in the door at the club, so it
could be a possible club I could work for in the future. However, as the experience continued, and the
weeks went by I was sceptical at the level of coaching I observed and frustrated with the attitude from
specific Watford players. From my point of view, I see it as a fantastic opportunity for both coaches
and players to use the club as a stepping stone to better themselves and give 100% in every session.
However, at times it felt like both coach and players treated it like they were going to do a shift in a
supermarket as an example. That was the vibe I got, perhaps the coach did not meet his role as being a
motivator for his players. Overall, I feel fortunate and thankful to have

Essay On The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Fall of Roman Empire
A empire can only last so long that it eventually falls apart. Roman Empire is known to be one of the
largest empire to ever exist. It is unbelievable to human eyes, how far it expanded. It was stretched
from Africa to Europe towards the Middle East. It was only possible through roman military power
expansion. They found it easy to conquer their neighbor and take their resources. Because the empire
was big, romans found it hard to communicate and organize. Later on, it was split in half by
Diocletian later known as western and eastern roman empire. When talked about the fall of the Roman
Empire its only the fall of the western empire empire, eastern last another thousand years. The main

Rome once known as Roman Republic changed the path on how to rule their vast empire. Ernst
argues, the transformation of Roman government from what we may term a democracy to a
legitimized dictatorship . The start of monarchy was with the emperor Octavian also known as
Augustus Caesar. This emperor took control to improve the broken empire seized sole control of the
state after the Battle of Actium in 31 B.C.E. and succeeded in re establishing an autocratic form of
government (Ernst). The republic which rome had shown dominant over centuries had ended and a
new way had started. In result, the consolidation of power in the person of the emperor led to a

The United States Outlook on Foreign Policy Affairs Essay
The United States Outlook on Foreign Policy Affairs
The United States outlook on foreign policy affairs after World War II was influenced by the fear of
communist expansionism rather than establishing foreign relations with each country. The U.S. found
itself with a conflict between its profound belief in the constitution and democracy and a need for
domestic and national security. In 1947, the National Security Act authorized the creation of the
Central Intelligence Agency. Its role was to protect domestic security and oversee national relations.
Following World War II the Cold War intensified and the anti communist sentiment consumed our

in becoming a world power. In 1952, Dwight Eisenhower was elected president and immediately

Eisenhower also perceived communism as a force struggling for world supremacy. Eisenhower and
his secretary of state, John Dulles, and his brother Allen, who headed up the CIA, felt that containment
did not go far enough to stop communist expansion. A more aggressive policy was established. It was
during this era that the CIA began more covert actions within the third world countries. In Operation

Eisenhower wanted to control the spread of communism and did so by using the tactics of the CIA. In

Comparing Making Sarah Cry And The Watsons Go To Birmingham
The poem Making Sarah Cry and the play The Watsons Go to Birmingham have a similar theme of
being different. Even though they have the same theme, they show it different ways. For instance, the
characters have a different influence on others. The theme in Making Sarah Cry is being different.
This is the theme because in the poem, it said Sarah was not like the rest, she was slow and not smart.
Sarah wasn t accepted by the boy and his friends. They made fun of the faces she made, the way she
stomped her feet, and the stutter when she spoke. Another reason why the theme is being different is
because when the boy got hurt they treated him differently. They called him a freak and asked where
he got the ugly mask because of his limp and jagged scar across his face. When he got hit by the car
and people started treating him differently, he didn t like it. Now that people are treating him like he
treated Sarah, he rethinks the choices that he has made. In the poem it says for at last he knew the
difference, between what s right and wrong. And Sarah didn t seem so weird, in his understanding
eyes . In this part, he finally realizes that teasing Sarah and making fun of her, because she was
different, was not right. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dostoevsky s Crime And Punishment
Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment contains an abundance of confusing scenes that are frequently
left up to the interpretation of the reader. Many of these scenes are focused on Raskolnikov and the
fact that he often blurs together his conscious and subconscious states. Therefore, the reader is left to
contemplate the validity of certain situations. When reading a novel as hefty as Crime and Punishment
it is important to pick apart some of the many subtleties in order to gain more insight to both the novel
as a whole and the psyche of Raskolnikov. In an attempt to better understand Raskolnikov s
disorientation between his conscious and subconscious states, it is helpful to break down and analyze
Raskolnikov s third dream and some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the reader gets a lot of insight into Raskolnikov s thoughts through the way Dostoevsky sets
up the narrative of the novel, we never imagine what it s like to actively think like Raskolnikov. Yet,
still, a question remains. Why would Dostoevsky fully submerge the reader into the mind of a
murderer?
Dostoevsky is attempting to have the reader connect to Raskolnikov. This instance of Raskolnikov s
haziness between the conscious and the subconscious is similar to having an incredibly realistic
dream; you wake up feeling as though what you dreamt about actually happened to you. This act of
vivid dreaming can sometimes be caused by any subconscious emotions felt leading up to the moment
you fall asleep. In Raskolnikov s case, whether or not he feels any sort of genuine guilt for murdering
Alyona is fairly ambiguous, but it is obvious that he is paranoid about the idea of being caught. For
example, shortly before Raskolnikov s run in with the tradesman, he and Razumikhin go speak with
Porfiry and Zamyotov. Throughout their meeting, Raskolnikov seems to be on edge. He even states, I
m feverish again!...Did Porfiry wink at me just now, or not? Must be nonsense; why would he wink?
Do they want to irritate my nerves, or are they taunting me? Either it s all a mirage, or they

The Heart-warming Story of Rain Man
Rain Man is a heart warming and captivating film, based in the 1980s, in America. The plot revolves
around Charlie Babbitt, who discovers after his father s death that he has an autistic brother,
Raymond. The plot revolves around Charlie spontaneously kidnapping him from a mental hospital and
taking his brother on a bizarre journey of self discovery, culture and self awareness, with the goal of
seeking his late father s inheritance. The director, Barry Levinson who makes a cameo as Raymond s
psychiatrist is now less famous for writing (as well as directing) political satire and sci fi films such as
Man of the Year, starring Robin Williams and The Bay, featuring Kether Donohue (Scott, 2012).
Whilst tackling serious issues such as mental health, and adding a little comedy as well, Rain Man has
truly left a legacy for the American and global film industry.
One of the fanatically portrayed themes in the film is disability and the way the director uses minor
characters as props to communicate how society perceived disabled people in the 1980s. For example,
a bar maid, Sally suggests that Ray is a very clever boy . This is significant because she is the only
minor character who treats Ray with respect and sympathy, in contrast to Charlie who evidently
abuses it. In addition, the mise en scene comprised of high key lighting and a subtle wide angle shot
creates a somewhat ambient atmosphere (Cinematheque, 2010, p. 1). This therefore suggests that this

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Guys Vs. Men By Dave Barry
The author of the essay Guys vs Men , Dave Barry is a well known humourist author of many

behavioural tendencies resulting in men having a bad name because such behaviours cause war,
violent crime, spitting and ice hockey. And so Guyhood is the other type of man out there and he is
using this essay to describe them. Dave s main points are that guys like neat stuff, guys like really
pointless challenges and that, guys do not have a rigid and well defined moral code. The intended

The context of the essay is simply nothing to intense originally this essay / reflection is from his book
Dave Barry s Complete Guide to Guys. Here are the three main types of rhetorical strategies I will be
focusing on; Narration, pathos and comparison.
Narration is a big part of this reflection Dave inserts a lot of stories to lead through his explanations of
the guy compared to the man as well as women in some cases. While reading for the first time you
notice that this is not the usual dry kind of writing Dave engages you with another story every time
you might start to stray you re attention away. The first example for narration is as he is suggesting
that guys like neat stuff. He talks about typing on his exceptionally powerful computer and how it s

The Tipping Point By Gladwell Tails
Introduction In The Tipping Point, Gladwell tails trends from their very beginning to their end and he
tries to figure out why some ideas tip and others do not. Firstly, Gladwell mentions the three rules for
the tipping point which are: contagiousness, the fact that little causes can have big effects, and
transformation happens in one moment. In the introductory chapter of the book, Gladwell made use of
the syphilis epidemic of Baltimore, along with other outbreaks of disease in order to illustrate his three
rules. He reaffirms the three rules more solely as the law of few, the stickiness factor and the power of
context. He began by discussing the incomprehensible recovery of then terminally uncool hush
puppies shoes in the midst of a few of hipsters in Manhattan s cutting edge regions in the 1990s, a
development which soon extended across the United States and resulted to exponential increases in
the company s sales. Using this sensation as an introduction to the book s methodical theme, the
author states that he will recognize, dissect and give details on the mechanisms by which certain
trends occur, while others fail. Chapter 1: The Three Rules of Epidemics Gladwell declares that most
trends, styles, and occurrences are natural and spread according to paths of transmission and carriage
that are patently similar. In most of these consequences, whether the event in question is the spread of
syphilis in Baltimore s unpleasant streets or the unexpected spike in the

Capital Punishment In The Criminal Justice System
The primary purpose of the criminal justice system is to protect society. All features of the system;
detaining delinquents, trials, and punishments all have costs. Reduction in any part of the criminal
justice system can potentially result in a harmful society. The question most asked about the death
penalty is, Why should honest, hardworking taxpayers, have to pay for murderers for the rest of their
life instead of executing them? Actually the death penalty is the most expensive part off the system.
According to Dr. Ernest Gross, a Creighton University economics professor, who conducted a study in
August 2016, the death penalty cost an average 23.2 million more per year than alternative sentences
(Gross). The study found that states with the death penalty spend about 3.54% of overall state budgets
on court, corrections and other criminal justice functions associated with the death penalty, while
states without the death penalty spend about 2.93% on those functions (Gross). The death penalty is
more expensive than life without parole because the constitution requires an extensive and complex
judicial process for capital crimes. This is to ensure that innocent men and women are not executed for

need support in my daily walk with Christ? What is it in my life that needs work and could be
spiritually damaging, if not dealt with? Where do I need to be held accountable? After asking myself
these series of questions, it is almost as if God spoke aloud to me. You are very Judge mental it is ugly
and not of God. I said well there it is. The practice that works well for me, is the practicing Silence. I
love this, I find that God can deal with me better in silence. I can hear what God is saying and what
God wants me to do. In my life s journey, I find that practicing silence is what got me where God
wants me to be. In doing this God pours directly in to me, his divine plan. There was a time when I
needed to know what God wants me to do. How do you want me to serve you, because that is all that I

four things in mind as you go through the tire purchasing process.
#1 Check Out The Shape Of Your Car Before Getting New Tires
Before you get new tires put on your vehicle, really inspect the old tires. Do any of your tires show
significantly more wear than your other tires? Are any of your tires more worn out on the inside edge?
Are any of your tires worn out more on the outside edge?

When purchasing new tires, you should also check your spare tire. If it is damaged, this is a great time
to have it fixed.
If your vehicle uses a full size space, you can potential save the old tire that you are taking off your
vehicle that is in the best condition and replace your current spare tire. You should only do this if your
old tires are in better condition than your spare tire.

It is best to replace your entire set of tires at the same time. Replacing all of your tires at once will
ensure that your driving experience is smooth. Having matching tires will give you the best overall
handling experience and will keep you safe on the road. Over time, it will also allow you to identify
issues with your vehicle based on how all of your tires wear out.

Protestant Reformation Essay
The Protestant Reformation was an event that helped to change church s from being corrupt money

The Diet of Worms was one of the most important events of the protestant reformation.
Beginning on January 28th, 1521, it addressed Martin Luther speaking out against the church and
hoped to have him recant his Ninety Five Theses. While the Diet of Worms was expected to put an end
to the reformation, it only ended up boosting the public s belief that Martin was correct in how corrupt
the church was.

Due to this Luther looked for absolutes about life and was drawn to the idea of philosophy. As a result
of his education and dedication to god, Luther came to reject several teachings and practices of the
Roman Catholic Church. He was strongly indulgences, and didnt believe that freedom from God s
punishment for sin could be purchased with money. To protest this, he posted the Ninety Five Theses,
which he hoped would start to reform the church.
The Ninety five Theses was a list of propositions as a logical argument against the church written in
1517 by Martin Luther. Martin wrote the Ninety five Theses against the church practices he viewed as
wrong, with a primary aim to get rid of indulgences.
In the Catholic Church at this time, indulgences was the Church s main source of income. In their
system, when a Christian sins and went to confess, they were forgiven by god, and would no longer be
damned to hell , all they had to do was buy the indulgence and they were Forgiven . As Martin made
the Ninety five Theses to reform the church, he nailed it to a church door as a means of protest.
However, the Thesis would eventually be known as the start of the Protestant Reformation, and caused
Martin to be trialed at the Diet of Worms years later.

I did notice a flaw in the story line in relation to therapy, however. The flaw was that Bob seemed to
get progressively better at a very fast rate. In relation to his diagnosis of multi phobic personality
characterized by acute separation anxiety and the extreme need for family connections along with the
ones I found such as OCD, agoraphobia and dependent personality disorder. All of the problems seem
to go away with little to no time except for the dependent personality disorder which would not
happen in any typical case. The movie did portray the dependent part right because Bob always put his
happiness above the Doctor which fits what a person with dependent personality disorder would do.
Another thing that I noticed was that Dr. Marvin never tries to realize why Bob is actually at the
house. He never tries to have a session or get to the bottom of why he is at the house and will not
leave. Instead of being so wrapped up with getting rid of Bob, Leo should have tried to treat Bob.
With the right treatment Bob might have gone back to New York. Another major flaw, done for
comedic purpose, was that counselors are not supposed to attempt to kill their patients. This movie
was a pretty accurate portrayal of a patient with dependent personality, multi phobic personality
disorder, extreme need for family connections and acute separation anxiety. This movie is not only
funny to watch but also a psychological movie for counselors to

A Great Book Is Not A Work Of Luck
Simply created from pieces of paper, ink, and a person s imagination, books have transformed the
human s daily routines. All books can be broken down into these three basic ingredients but they are
set apart by a few items. These small details separate a phenomenal book from a plain novel. A great
book is not a work of luck but rather, of skill. A great book has relatable characters, develops an
emotional connection to the reader, and features an unpredictable plotline.
Characters are often a figment of the author s imagination. In order for any media to be appealing to
the average human, characters must be relatable. There are many types of characters in a novel, such
as a main character vs. a supporting character, a protagonist vs. an antagonist, and a dynamic character
vs. a static character. In order for a book to be great, these characters must have a background or some
detail of their past history that relates to the book s audience. For instance, in the first book of Harry
Potter, the first few chapters were devoted to introducing the protagonist and antagonist s backgrounds
and their past history in a way that appealed to the preteen age group. With this, the author could build
on these characters and have them act certain ways to further the story. Often, when readers get drawn
to the story, they have already developed a favourite character and a character they may detest. This
makes the book great to them because they feel as if they are a part of the story.

Children begin to pretend play, which is when a child acts out routines, such as eating or cleaning.
Children begin to think, however thinking at this stage is still different to the way that adults think.
Their thinking is not very systematic or logical (Wood, 2008 P.48). Piaget stressed that during the
preoperational stage, children?s abilities are limited. One limitation is the inability to take the
perspective of another individual, this is known as ?egocentrism? (Smith, Cowie, Blades 2011 P.390).
A child may well presume that everyone has the same knowledge as they do without taking into
consideration another person?s point of view.
Throughout the concrete operational stage, which occurs between seven and twelve years of age,
children begin to think logically. (Wood, 2008 P.47). Children at this stage are able to think logically
about the world and gain the ability to manipulate their mental representations to think and solve
problems. Children in this stage have an understanding of conservation. For example, if sand was
poured from a tall thin container into a short wide container, they would understand that the quantity is
the same as before.
The last stage is the formal operational stage, which occurs during early adolescence. This is when
cognitive development reaches its peak. According to Smith (2003), Piaget believed that individuals at
this stage gain the ability to ?reason hypothetically? (Smith, Cowie, Blades, 2011 P.408).

The Continuous Civil Unrest Of The Empire Between 509 Bce...
Rome at the beginning was just a small city built on hills, but soon enlarged to one of the largest
empires around the world. Located in the middle of the Mediterranean, it was a prime spot for trade
and was influenced by surrounding areas such as Greece. In ancient Rome, the city became a Republic
and prospered as an Empire expanding to 3.5 million square miles at its height. As ancient Rome
continued to grow from the Republic to the Empire between 509 BCE and 476 CE, culturally the
acceptance of a new monotheistic religion, Christianity emerged, changing from the previous
polytheistic religions and the army changed from a citizen soldier to a standing army. The continuous
civil unrest of the poor due to the troubled economy remained throughout Rome s period.
With Rome s acceptance of the many polytheistic religions around the region, the emergence of a new
monotheistic religion created conflicts with the Roman government. Many of the religions practiced in
the Roman Republic were polytheistic, but they were accepted by the government as long as the
religion worshipped many gods, such as the main worship of the Roman Gods. During the Roman
Empire, Christianity was introduced. It was appealing because the new and different religion promised
an immediate life after death unlike some religions such as Hinduism in India, where the final goal,
Moksha, did not occur right after death. This made it appealing to convert along with the promised
personal relationship with God and

TEGNA Inc. Case Summary
TEGNA Inc. hosted an investor day to unveil the Company s growth strategy after the spin off from
Cars.com is complete. The consensus from the analyst reports were cautiously optimistic. Stephens
Inc. and The Benchmark Company, LLC reported positively on TEGNA s new growth model, but will
continue to hold reservations until the spin off is complete. David Lougee stepped into an early
leadership role in the meeting by providing concrete revenue focal points for the Company during the
presentation. These new revenue incentives, have reestablished investor s confidence with TEGNA, as
reported by The Benchmark Company. Another analyst company, Stephens Inc., reported on the main
focal points for 2018: guidance, capital allocation, and M A. Of these three, capital allocation is the
priority for TEGNA. With the funds from the spinoff of Cars.com ($650 million, no tax ) and
divestment from CareerBuilder.com (estimated $242.5 million, after tax), TEGNA plans to repay its
debt. Stephens then dampens expectations by describing twelve risks that may impact a target price of
$25. The risks range from the current decline of ratings to the long term risk of digital fragmentation.
The Benchmark Company also reports on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stephens and Benchmark report on their projections for the division. Neither have optimistic outlooks
for Cars.com. Benchmark names the company s soft guidance as problematic for their new
competitive landscape. This leads to investors questioning whether or not they can handle the increase
in competition in ancillary markets. Stephens states that they do not believe the spin off will lead to as
much EBITDA as TEGNA anticipates. Even though the overall outlook is negative, both analysts
provide some positive commentary. The positivity stems from Cars.com being a leader in brand
awareness and having a consistent revenue base via a subscription

The Ethical Treatment of Prisoners
The ethical treatment of prisoners is a surprisingly contentious topic, considering how much is known
about the conditions and contexts in which human beings function optimally, both physically and
mentally. However, ethical discussions frequently have very little to do with what best allows human
beings to thrive and function, but instead concern themselves with formulating rules and standards of
acceptable behavior, usually out of the mistaken belief that these rules or standards represent some
kind of objective, universal ethics. A problem arises when dealing with prisoners, because in many
people s minds, the crime or offense of which a prisoner is accused warrants the denial of a certain
subset of their rights, but there is not universal acceptance of which rights may be denied and to what
extent, due to a disconnect between different modes of ethical thought. Believing in objective,
universal ethical standards actually means that anything is justifiable; because these imagined
objective standards do not actually exist, people are free to imagine them however they see fit. More
utilitarian ethics rooted in conceptions of the social contract are far more useful for determining social
policy, because they do not purport to represent objective ethical standards; rather, they acknowledge
that ethics and morality are socially constructed, and as such they seek to rationally determine the best
practices for achieving any particular goal. By examining two especially

Use, Function, And Meaning Of The Particle
The Use, Function, and Meaning of the Particle Lah in Manglish (Malaysian English) and Singlish
(Singaporean English)
1. Introduction Manglish and Singlish are English based creoles spoken in Malaysia and Singapore in
South East Asia. A portmanteau of the words Malaysian and English (for Manglish) and Singaporean
English (for Singlish), both these creoles borrow heavily from the other languages e.g. Malay,
Mandarin Chinese, Tamil, etc. spoken in Malaysia and Singapore while using English as the base
language (McArthur 57, Broadbent Vavilova 144). As a Malaysian, one of the most common
utterances in spoken Manglish and Singlish is the use of the particle lah in daily conversations
(Goddard 1). For the purpose of this paper, I plan to delve deeper into the use, function, and meaning
of lah in Malaysian conversations. In The English of Singapore and Malaysia, Tongue equates
meaning with function in his discussion of lah (114 115). He proposes, The range of meanings it
possesses is prodigious; depending upon the way it is pronounced, it can function as an intensifying
particle, as a marker of informal style, as a signal of intimacy, for persuading, deriding, wheedling,
rejection and a host of other purposes. (114 115) I hope to demonstrate the complexity behind the use
of lah by showing that a Malaysian s ethnicity, region that they are from, and mother tongue spoken,
affects the way they use lah, and the function and

A Brief Note On The United Kingdom ( Uk ) Essay
Overview of the Healthcare System in the United Kingdom (UK) With over 65 million inhabitants, the
United Kingdom (UK) is the 21st most populated country in the world, behind China, India and the
US as the top three ranked countries in terms of population (Worldometers, 2016). However, its
healthcare system is ranked as 5th worldwide (GBD2015 SDG Collaborators, 2016). The UK health
system is financed primarily via general taxation. The system is lauded for providing universal
coverage of all people ordinarily resident, and generally at no charge for the patient at the point of care
(Mossialos, 2016). The breadth of covered services derives from the 2006 Health Act that put forth the
Secretary of State s duty to promote a comprehensive health service to secure improvement in the
physical and mental health of the people of England, and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of
illness (Legislation.gov.uk, 2006). On an annual basis, the Secretary of State sets health and efficiency
goals for NHS England, the organization tasked with plan and budget management (Mossialos, 2016).
Quality of care concerns are overseen by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which requires all
healthcare providers to be registered, so their performance can be assessed against national quality
standards. These national quality standards are developed by the National Institute for Health and
Clinical Excellence (NICE), and include measures such as maximum wait times for key

Comparing The Genesis Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Throughout the Genesis Flood, Atrahasis Flood and the Epic of Gilgamesh flood, there are many
different ways to interpret the different views of The Flood. These different narratives in these stories
have their own explanation on how this myth took place and the different beliefs that occurred during
this flood. The way you portray each narrative is based on what exactly your beliefs are. When
comparing the Genesis Flood narrative to that of the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, there are many
similar symbols throughout both narratives. In the Genesis version of the flood, God had chosen to
send the flood because the humankind he had created was evil and he saw their wickedness. For my
par, I am going to bring a good of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which
is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die (Genesis 6:18). This excerpt from the
narrative shows that one God had chosen to send the flood to destroy all humankind that he had
originally created. Just like this narrative, the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, a God by the name of Enlil
orders a flood to destroy humankind. Decided that the great gods should make a flood (Gilgamesh XI
109). This quote states how that a flood was to be sent for the city of Shuruppak. In the Genesis
narrative there was a righteous man by the name of Noah that was chosen to build the ark. Make
yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in the ark and cover it inside and out with a pitch

Questions On Angels
Angels. Many questions revolve around this subject. Who or what are they? How many are there? Do
they actually exist? The Bible can and will answer many of these questions. Humankind always had
its own opinion on angels, but unsurprisingly, most of these assumptions are wrong. The Bible will
contradict many of these theories on angels or it will prove them right. It just depends how educated
these assumptions are.
1. Q: Who are angels? (Hebrews 1:13, 14)
A:
Note: In other words angels are ministering spirits created by God. They live with God in Heaven and
come down to Earth to hep man.
2. Q: How many angels are there? (Revelation 5:1)
A:
Note: Later in this study you will learn that Lucifer took one third of the angels with him. So ... Show

By doing this he will punish or reward us for our works. Good or bad. This s where you get to see who
won your war, you or Satan.
12. Q: In the end what happens to Lucifer and his angels? (Matthew 25:41)
A:
Note: Like the rest of the wicked (in the second coming), they will burn. Lucifer shall burn the longest
for his treachery against God. He will watch others burn then his followers, while he burns in the fire
watching all his followers fall. Then he will fall, the last, he will burn alone.
13. Who is Michael the Archangel? (Jude 1:9, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Revelation 20:5, Revelation 22:8,
9, Daniel 12:1, Joshua 5:13 15, Exodus 3:5, Acts 7:33)
A:
Note: Michael the Archangel is also the captain of the Lord s army. He let Joshua sit there and worship
him, but in other verses it says that angels don t accept worship. In other verses Jesus has accepted
worship. This captain also said to take off your sandals for your standing on holy ground. God has said
this quotation two times. Michael is also the only one called an archangel in the Bible, he is also the
commander of an army who accepts worship unlike other angels. This somewhat proves he could be

After Adolf Hitler became Chancellor, Dachau was built, so that made it the first regular concentration camp built in Germany. Even though Dachau was not very big, there were a lot of people in the camp. There were a ton of people in the camp there was not all the many buildings inside of it. Even though Dachau was the first concentration camp, used as a model for the rest of them, it was still a very dangerous camp where thousands of people died. Dachau was a concentration camp, but it did not remain a normal concentration camp through its existence. It was the first regular concentration camp established by the National Socialists(Nazi) government (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum 1). He always saw animals in the woods and he loved when he would see a big buck running beside him. One day Artemis was going to run 2 miles in the woods. He came to this house where Zeus the god of the Sky was living. Artemis knocked on the door and Zeus came out and Artemis couldn t believe it. It was his best friend from 8th grade. • 6. Survey of Art History Survey of Art History II Man Ray like many other artists did not care to have his personal life shown in his art. He wanted to be viewed and recognized for his work which included sculptures, paintings, and photography. Man Ray was mostly influenced by Stieglitz s photographs. Man Ray used a similar style to Stieglitz. He captured images that created an unvarnished look at the photos subject. Man Ray discovered a new way to create his photos; by accident in his work room he discovered how to manipulate objects in his photos on pieces of photosensitive paper. In the year 1914, at a seminal exhibition, Man Ray introduced himself to African art. Man Ray did this at the Alfred Stieglitz 291 Gallery. Man Ray s photograph Noire et Blanche became an icon for modern photography. Although this was his most famous and widely known piece, Man Ray s less known work made a greater impact and influence on African art. Photographs with African art pieces began to flourish greatly after Man Ray s break through with his Noire et Blanche photograph. These photographs shed light on many day to day issues such as: issues of race, identity, sex, separatism, and disenfranchisement. Noire et Blanche shows Kiki Man Ray s companion with her eyes closed and her head sideways on a table in a very relaxed manner. With her left hand, Kiki is holding, an African mask known as a Baule Gba Gba mask. The mask is held straight above the table and right up next to her face. In this time, it was ... • 7. Why Did Japan Attack Australia Intro Not long before 10:00am, on February 19, 1942 the Japanese forces commenced air raids on Darwin. Over 260 enemy planes attacked Australian and US shipping, the harbour of the town, military and civil aerodromes and the local hospital. There were two waves of attacks which were part of Japan s efforts to harm Australia s confidence, hold back the use of Darwin s military base, and at last secure neighbouring Timor. At least 243 people were killed in the attack and up to 400 people were injured. Eight ships in the harbour were sunk and twenty military aircraft were destroyed. Over a space of almost two years the air attacks continued and about half of Darwin s population ended up moving south. Why did Japan bomb Australia? Japan invaded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During World War Two, the Japanese flew 64 raids on Darwin and 33 raids on further targets in Northern Australia. On 19 February 1942, with a harbour full of Allied ships, Darwin was shot against by 188 Japanese planes. Since Pearl Harbour on 7 December 1941 this was the largest Japanese attack. In Darwin there were 27 Allied ships in the harbour and around 30 aircraft at the Darwin Civil and RAAF airfields. The first Japanese attack on Darwin occurred on the 19th of February 1942. This first attack (and the one that occurs the next day) was planned and controlled by Mitsuo Fuchida, who is the Japanese commander also responsible the Pearl Harbour attack. The Japanese attacked with around 188 planes that were launched from Japanese land bases and aircraft carriers in the Timor Sea. The Japanese fighters attacked land targets and shipping, dive bombers attacked the ships in the harbour, the military and civilian aerodromes and the hospital. Fighter planes accompanied the dive bombers for extra protection from Australian and allied planes. Eight Australian ships were sunk and nearly all others were ruined by bombs or machine gunfire. Australia s only air defences were ten fighter planes that encountered the Japanese planes. Only one Australia fighter survived the first attack, while the Japanese only suffered one or two losses. An hour after the first attack ended, the second attack began. For about 25 minutes heavy bombers attacked the Royal Australian Air Force Base at Parap. A minimum of 243 Australians and allies were killed in the two raids and around 400 were wounded. Twenty military aircraft were destroyed, most civil and military facilities in Darwin were destroyed and eight ships at anchor in the harbour were sunk. (Australian Government , ... • 8. Pre Reformation Research Paper The State of the Pre Reformation Church There are various ideas about the state of the church before the Reformation. Some individuals say that the church was still considered to be a pillar of hope and comfort for the English people to look up to and gain reassurance from in the 1500s. Others however say that the church was in a horrific state, promoting wrong doing and malevolence. The question to be further considered is whether the church during the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries fulfilled its functions while keeping the good English people satisfied. It has been argued that the pre reformation church was a corrupt and failing institution and therefore Henry had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Bishop was also obliged to attend Parliament, as he owed the service of counsel to the king, but not many attended regularly. Another grievance towards the Bishops was sexual irregularity with many Bishops seemingly ignoring their vow of chastity by having mistresses and illegitimate children. Neglect of the care of souls and simony were also attributed to the Bishops. The lower clergy and parish priests on the other hand were viewed as both rapacious and ignorant. They were very important for the vast majority of the English people, living in isolated rural communities as they were the only effective representatives of the universal church. Therefore, if they were ineffective many peasants would suffer. According to figures quoted by G R Elton this could be true. Educational standards were very low, so it was fairly easy for somebody to become a parish priest. A sixteenth century survey of the diocese of Gloucester showed that out of 311 clergy 168 could not recite the Ten Commandments, and 33 could not locate them in the Bible. 10 could recite the Lords Prayer, and 39 did not know where to find it in the Bible. Between 1500 50, 869 East Anglican clergy died and left wills and these reveal that only 158 possessed any books at all, and only 17 left Bibles. This would undoubtedly be a ... • 9. Essay on Navajo-Hopi Lande Dispute Navajo Hopi Lande Dispute When first considering the Navajo Hopi land dispute as a topic of research, I anticipated a relatively light research paper discussing the local skirmishes between the two tribes. However, my research has yielded innumerable volumes of facts, figures and varying viewpoints on a struggle that has dominated the two tribes for over 100 years. The story is an ever changing one, evolving from local conflict to forcible relocation to big business interests. The incredible breadth of the dispute s history makes it impossible to objectively cover the entire progression from all viewpoints. I will therefore focus on current issues and their historical causes facing the two tribes as they mutually approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The land was officially partitioned in 1974 by mandate of P.L. 93 531 also known as the Navajo Hopi Land Settlement Act of 1974 without the input or consent of those from both tribes actually occupying the land in question. The partition equally divided the JUA into the Navajo Partitioned Lands (NPL) and the Hopi Partitioned Lands (HPL). About 12,000 Navajo were stranded on newly declared Hopi land and, likewise, about 300 Hopi families found themselves on Navajo land. Many hold the belief that government sponsored and styled tribal council and influential energy interests contrived the JUA dispute to promote congressional action. The US has subsequently spent over $400 million to relocate the families to tract housing in nearby cities. The disproportionate amount of Navajo forced to relocate heightened age old anxieties between the Navajo and Hopi. The Navajo are still at the center of the relocation controversy as many traditional Dineh families have chosen to remain within the HPL in defiance of 1974 s P.L. 93 531. The Navajo traditionalists view their land as representing the essence of their being, says Jennie Joe of the Native American Research and Training Center at the University of Arizona in Tucson, who conducted a study ... He saw little action for the next year, and in December 1778 began a winter encampment with his regiment at Morristown, New Jersey. This difficult period saw the army s first mutiny of the war, as Martin wrote: We had borne as long as human nature could endure, and to bear longer we considered folly. But Martin persevered, and in the summer of 1780 he was recommended for appointment as a sergeant in the new engineer corps, the Sappers and Miners. He was born in Roman Britain and when he was fourteen or so, he was captured by Irish pirates during a raiding party and taken to Ireland as a slave to herd and tend sheep. At the time, Ireland was a land of Druids and pagans but Patrick turned to God and wrote his memoir, The Confession. In The Confession, he wrote: The love of God and his fear grew in me more and more, as did the faith, and my soul was roused, so that, in a single day, I have said as many as a hundred prayers and in the night, nearly the same. I prayed in the woods and on the mountain, even before dawn. I felt no hurt from the snow or ice or rain. Patrick s captivity lasted until he was twenty, when he escaped ... Since the Zodiac case is still considered unsolved to this day, I will let my audience decide for themselves who they think the killer was. I will only present facts and leave my opinion out so that it does not persuade anyone. This will establish a motive for my audience to listen to me, so that they can figure out who the killer is. From the book, I will use different learning styles to get my point across, I will also do something unexpected, and I will go review my main point. To get my point across to everyone in the audience I will use different learning styles. For the auditory learners, I will be speaking clearly, so that they can hear and understand all my information. I will be using a PowerPoint with both words and pictures for the visual learners and the visual print learners. Lastly for the kinesthetic learners I will ask for a show of hands of who has ever heard of the Zodiac Killer. I will do this so that they can be involved somehow. • 16. Homemade Is The New Organic By Rachel Jones For The Atlantic Nowadays, many people start living a healthy lifestyle. People realize an importance of caring about what is in their food and benefits of home cooked meals over processed food. Home Cooking is not just healthier, but also it has tons of benefits. Simple examples are saving money, controlling body weight and avoiding food poisoning. Homemade is the New Organic written by Rachel Jones for the Atlantic (2015), discussed the new food trend cooking at home. In her article, she explained how cooking is becoming popular recently. An earlier time, a family which has low income had no choice but to use homemade food. Today, however, meaning of homemade food changes. People start to appreciate the goodness of cooking at home and intentionally choose the homemade. Moreover, she mentioned that social media has a huge effect on this change. Since we have all the necessary tools and food in our kitchen, only a bit of time needs to be devoted. Basically, she tried to inform a general public that home cooking has an essential value in our life. In my opinion, Rachel successfully achieves her intention with the help of following rhetorical strategies: logos, ethos and counterpoint. First, Rachel adopts logos to illustrate the emerging importance of homemade meals to the audience. In other words, using general reasoning and facts, she tried to make her article more persuading. In the beginning of the article, she acknowledges her personal facts to demonstrate her idea. For example, she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fact that many US employers look down on, discourage, and blatantly combat unionization is not a recent occurrence as successful organization thereof can result in decreased profits and inflated personnel costs. Fossum (2012) argues that employers have long resisted attempts to unionize (p. 215) and implemented various strategies to remain union free and greedily persist in their efforts toward heightened profitability through utilization of unfair labor practices. Lawful Strategies for Union Avoidance Although Hoffa and the Teamsters faced stark resistance from employers concerning unionization, the resulting creation and evolution of employment legislation has since improved working conditions and impacted the type of strategies implemented by employers to avoid organization. I will use Gibbs (1988) model to help me reflective critically on the coaching shadowing I had to undertake as part of my Sport Studies degree with the University of Hertfordshire during semester A. The reflection is for both experiences with Coach A and B. Coach A Description I undertook my coach shadowing in November for three weeks at Watford Academy. Sessions were two hours long; the plan was to shadow at 8 hours for both coaches but as their training schedule clashed with me under 12 team matches I was not able to do so. However, the overall experience involved me shadowing coach A from a distance because the head of academy believed it would be best I give the players and coach space. The sessions involved a mixture of technical practices at the start with passing, dribbling and shooting activities then would progress into tactical practices such as 5v3 possession, one versus one on goal, 6v3 counter/overload scenarios and would normally end with a small sided game. I was also able to observe a match with Arsenal V Watford U16. Arsenal won 5 0. As for coach B I coach shadowed for four sessions, 90 minutes long, sessions included 30 minutes of technical work, 10 minute tag game, 25 minutes on overloads and 20 minute match time. Feelings During the start of the experience, I felt thrilled, animated and overjoyed to have an opportunity to shadow with Watford s academy. I saw it as an opportunity to get my foot in the door at the club, so it could be a possible club I could work for in the future. However, as the experience continued, and the weeks went by I was sceptical at the level of coaching I observed and frustrated with the attitude from specific Watford players. From my point of view, I see it as a fantastic opportunity for both coaches and players to use the club as a stepping stone to better themselves and give 100% in every session. However, at times it felt like both coach and players treated it like they were going to do a shift in a supermarket as an example. That was the vibe I got, perhaps the coach did not meet his role as being a motivator for his players. Overall, I feel fortunate and thankful to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though they have the same theme, they show it different ways. For instance, the characters have a different influence on others. The theme in Making Sarah Cry is being different. This is the theme because in the poem, it said Sarah was not like the rest, she was slow and not smart. Sarah wasn t accepted by the boy and his friends. They made fun of the faces she made, the way she stomped her feet, and the stutter when she spoke. Another reason why the theme is being different is because when the boy got hurt they treated him differently. They called him a freak and asked where he got the ugly mask because of his limp and jagged scar across his face. When he got hit by the car and people started treating him differently, he didn t like it. Now that people are treating him like he treated Sarah, he rethinks the choices that he has made. Many of these scenes are focused on Raskolnikov and the fact that he often blurs together his conscious and subconscious states. Therefore, the reader is left to contemplate the validity of certain situations. When reading a novel as hefty as Crime and Punishment it is important to pick apart some of the many subtleties in order to gain more insight to both the novel as a whole and the psyche of Raskolnikov. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the reader gets a lot of insight into Raskolnikov s thoughts through the way Dostoevsky sets up the narrative of the novel, we never imagine what it s like to actively think like Raskolnikov. Yet, still, a question remains. Why would Dostoevsky fully submerge the reader into the mind of a murderer? Dostoevsky is attempting to have the reader connect to Raskolnikov. This instance of Raskolnikov s haziness between the conscious and the subconscious is similar to having an incredibly realistic dream; you wake up feeling as though what you dreamt about actually happened to you. This act of vivid dreaming can sometimes be caused by any subconscious emotions felt leading up to the moment you fall asleep. In Raskolnikov s case, whether or not he feels any sort of genuine guilt for murdering Alyona is fairly ambiguous, but it is obvious that he is paranoid about the idea of being caught. For example, shortly before Raskolnikov s run in with the tradesman, he and Razumikhin go speak with Porfiry and Zamyotov. Throughout their meeting, Raskolnikov seems to be on edge. He even states, I m feverish again!...Did Porfiry wink at me just now, or not? Must be nonsense; why would he wink? Do they want to irritate my nerves, or are they taunting me? The plot revolves around Charlie Babbitt, who discovers after his father s death that he has an autistic brother, Raymond. The plot revolves around Charlie spontaneously kidnapping him from a mental hospital and taking his brother on a bizarre journey of self discovery, culture and self awareness, with the goal of seeking his late father s inheritance. The director, Barry Levinson who makes a cameo as Raymond s psychiatrist is now less famous for writing (as well as directing) political satire and sci fi films such as Man of the Year, starring Robin Williams and The Bay, featuring Kether Donohue (Scott, 2012). Whilst tackling serious issues such as mental health, and adding a little comedy as well, Rain Man has truly left a legacy for the American and global film industry. One of the fanatically portrayed themes in the film is disability and the way the director uses minor characters as props to communicate how society perceived disabled people in the 1980s. For example, a bar maid, Sally suggests that Ray is a very clever boy . This is significant because she is the only minor character who treats Ray with respect and sympathy, in contrast to Charlie who evidently abuses it. In addition, the mise en scene comprised of high key lighting and a subtle wide angle shot creates a somewhat ambient atmosphere (Cinematheque, 2010, p. 1). The Tipping Point By Gladwell Tails Introduction In The Tipping Point, Gladwell tails trends from their very beginning to their end and he tries to figure out why some ideas tip and others do not. Firstly, Gladwell mentions the three rules for the tipping point which are: contagiousness, the fact that little causes can have big effects, and transformation happens in one moment. In the introductory chapter of the book, Gladwell made use of the syphilis epidemic of Baltimore, along with other outbreaks of disease in order to illustrate his three rules. He reaffirms the three rules more solely as the law of few, the stickiness factor and the power of context. He began by discussing the incomprehensible recovery of then terminally uncool hush puppies shoes in the midst of a few of hipsters in Manhattan s cutting edge regions in the 1990s, a development which soon extended across the United States and resulted to exponential increases in the company s sales. Using this sensation as an introduction to the book s methodical theme, the author states that he will recognize, dissect and give details on the mechanisms by which certain trends occur, while others fail. Chapter 1: The Three Rules of Epidemics Gladwell declares that most trends, styles, and occurrences are natural and spread according to paths of transmission and carriage that are patently similar. All books can be broken down into these three basic ingredients but they are set apart by a few items. These small details separate a phenomenal book from a plain novel. A great book is not a work of luck but rather, of skill. A great book has relatable characters, develops an emotional connection to the reader, and features an unpredictable plotline. Characters are often a figment of the author s imagination. In order for any media to be appealing to the average human, characters must be relatable. There are many types of characters in a novel, such as a main character vs. a supporting character, a protagonist vs. an antagonist, and a dynamic character vs. a static character. In order for a book to be great, these characters must have a background or some detail of their past history that relates to the book s audience. For instance, in the first book of Harry Potter, the first few chapters were devoted to introducing the protagonist and antagonist s backgrounds and their past history in a way that appealed to the preteen age group. With this, the author could build on these characters and have them act certain ways to further the story. Often, when readers get drawn to the story, they have already developed a favourite character and a character they may detest. To begin, the writer will discuss Piaget s theory of cognitive development, followed by Vygotsky s theory of cognitive development. The writer will then discuss any implications of Piaget s and Vygotsky s models for teaching and learning in the school years. In order to do this she will compare the two theories and look at any relevant evidence and research. After comparing both theories of cognitive development, the writer will do a brief summary of the two theories. Concluding her findings and how the two theories contrast each other. Piaget s Theory. Jean Piaget (1896 1980) looked at how children reason and think. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children begin to pretend play, which is when a child acts out routines, such as eating or cleaning. Children begin to think, however thinking at this stage is still different to the way that adults think. Their thinking is not very systematic or logical (Wood, 2008 P.48). Piaget stressed that during the preoperational stage, children?s abilities are limited. One limitation is the inability to take the perspective of another individual, this is known as ?egocentrism? (Smith, Cowie, Blades 2011 P.390). A child may well presume that everyone has the same knowledge as they do without taking into consideration another person?s point of view. Throughout the concrete operational stage, which occurs between seven and twelve years of age, children begin to think logically. (Wood, 2008 P.47). Children at this stage are able to think logically about the world and gain the ability to manipulate their mental representations to think and solve problems. Children in this stage have an understanding of conservation. For example, if sand was poured from a tall thin container into a short wide container, they would understand that the quantity is the same as before. The last stage is the formal operational stage, which occurs during early adolescence. This is when cognitive development reaches its peak. According to Smith (2003), Piaget believed that individuals at this stage gain the ability to ?reason hypothetically? (Smith, Cowie, Blades, 2011 P.408). Each one of these ... • 40. The Continuous Civil Unrest Of The Empire Between 509 Bce... Rome at the beginning was just a small city built on hills, but soon enlarged to one of the largest empires around the world. Located in the middle of the Mediterranean, it was a prime spot for trade and was influenced by surrounding areas such as Greece. In ancient Rome, the city became a Republic and prospered as an Empire expanding to 3.5 million square miles at its height. As ancient Rome continued to grow from the Republic to the Empire between 509 BCE and 476 CE, culturally the acceptance of a new monotheistic religion, Christianity emerged, changing from the previous polytheistic religions and the army changed from a citizen soldier to a standing army. The continuous civil unrest of the poor due to the troubled economy remained throughout Rome s period. With Rome s acceptance of the many polytheistic religions around the region, the emergence of a new monotheistic religion created conflicts with the Roman government. Many of the religions practiced in the Roman Republic were polytheistic, but they were accepted by the government as long as the religion worshipped many gods, such as the main worship of the Roman Gods. During the Roman Empire, Christianity was introduced. It was appealing because the new and different religion promised an immediate life after death unlike some religions such as Hinduism in India, where the final goal, Moksha, did not occur right after death. This made it appealing to convert along with the promised personal relationship with God and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. TEGNA Inc. Case Summary TEGNA Inc. hosted an investor day to unveil the Company s growth strategy after the spin off from Cars.com is complete. The consensus from the analyst reports were cautiously optimistic. Stephens Inc. and The Benchmark Company, LLC reported positively on TEGNA s new growth model, but will continue to hold reservations until the spin off is complete. David Lougee stepped into an early leadership role in the meeting by providing concrete revenue focal points for the Company during the presentation. These new revenue incentives, have reestablished investor s confidence with TEGNA, as reported by The Benchmark Company. Another analyst company, Stephens Inc., reported on the main focal points for 2018: guidance, capital allocation, and M A. Of these three, capital allocation is the priority for TEGNA. With the funds from the spinoff of Cars.com ($650 million, no tax ) and divestment from CareerBuilder.com (estimated $242.5 million, after tax), TEGNA plans to repay its debt. Stephens then dampens expectations by describing twelve risks that may impact a target price of $25. • 42. The Ethical Treatment of Prisoners The ethical treatment of prisoners is a surprisingly contentious topic, considering how much is known about the conditions and contexts in which human beings function optimally, both physically and mentally. However, ethical discussions frequently have very little to do with what best allows human beings to thrive and function, but instead concern themselves with formulating rules and standards of acceptable behavior, usually out of the mistaken belief that these rules or standards represent some kind of objective, universal ethics. A problem arises when dealing with prisoners, because in many people s minds, the crime or offense of which a prisoner is accused warrants the denial of a certain subset of their rights, but there is not universal acceptance of which rights may be denied and to what extent, due to a disconnect between different modes of ethical thought. Believing in objective, universal ethical standards actually means that anything is justifiable; because these imagined objective standards do not actually exist, people are free to imagine them however they see fit. More utilitarian ethics rooted in conceptions of the social contract are far more useful for determining social policy, because they do not purport to represent objective ethical standards; rather, they acknowledge that ethics and morality are socially constructed, and as such they seek to rationally determine the best practices for achieving any particular goal. By examining two especially ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Use, Function, And Meaning Of The Particle The Use, Function, and Meaning of the Particle Lah in Manglish (Malaysian English) and Singlish (Singaporean English) 1. Introduction Manglish and Singlish are English based creoles spoken in Malaysia and Singapore in South East Asia. A portmanteau of the words Malaysian and English (for Manglish) and Singaporean English (for Singlish), both these creoles borrow heavily from the other languages e.g. Malay, Mandarin Chinese, Tamil, etc. spoken in Malaysia and Singapore while using English as the base language (McArthur 57, Broadbent Vavilova 144). As a Malaysian, one of the most common utterances in spoken Manglish and Singlish is the use of the particle lah in daily conversations (Goddard 1). For the purpose of this paper, I plan to delve deeper into the use, function, and meaning of lah in Malaysian conversations. In The English of Singapore and Malaysia, Tongue equates meaning with function in his discussion of lah (114 115). He proposes, The range of meanings it possesses is prodigious; depending upon the way it is pronounced, it can function as an intensifying particle, as a marker of informal style, as a signal of intimacy, for persuading, deriding, wheedling, rejection and a host of other purposes. (114 115) I hope to demonstrate the complexity behind the use of lah by showing that a Malaysian s ethnicity, region that they are from, and mother tongue spoken, affects the way they use lah, and the function and ... • 44. A Brief Note On The United Kingdom ( Uk ) Essay Overview of the Healthcare System in the United Kingdom (UK) With over 65 million inhabitants, the United Kingdom (UK) is the 21st most populated country in the world, behind China, India and the US as the top three ranked countries in terms of population (Worldometers, 2016). However, its healthcare system is ranked as 5th worldwide (GBD2015 SDG Collaborators, 2016). The UK health system is financed primarily via general taxation. The system is lauded for providing universal coverage of all people ordinarily resident, and generally at no charge for the patient at the point of care (Mossialos, 2016). The breadth of covered services derives from the 2006 Health Act that put forth the Secretary of State s duty to promote a comprehensive health service to secure improvement in the physical and mental health of the people of England, and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness (Legislation.gov.uk, 2006). On an annual basis, the Secretary of State sets health and efficiency goals for NHS England, the organization tasked with plan and budget management (Mossialos, 2016). Quality of care concerns are overseen by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which requires all healthcare providers to be registered, so their performance can be assessed against national quality standards. These national quality standards are developed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), and include measures such as maximum wait times for key ... • 45. Comparing The Genesis Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh Throughout the Genesis Flood, Atrahasis Flood and the Epic of Gilgamesh flood, there are many different ways to interpret the different views of The Flood. These different narratives in these stories have their own explanation on how this myth took place and the different beliefs that occurred during this flood. The way you portray each narrative is based on what exactly your beliefs are. When comparing the Genesis Flood narrative to that of the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, there are many similar symbols throughout both narratives. In the Genesis version of the flood, God had chosen to send the flood because the humankind he had created was evil and he saw their wickedness. For my par, I am going to bring a good of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die (Genesis 6:18). This excerpt from the narrative shows that one God had chosen to send the flood to destroy all humankind that he had originally created. Just like this narrative, the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, a God by the name of Enlil orders a flood to destroy humankind. Decided that the great gods should make a flood (Gilgamesh XI 109). This quote states how that a flood was to be sent for the city of Shuruppak. In the Genesis narrative there was a righteous man by the name of Noah that was chosen to build the ark. Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in the ark and cover it inside and out with a pitch (Genesis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Questions On Angels Angels. Many questions revolve around this subject. Who or what are they? How many are there? Do they actually exist? The Bible can and will answer many of these questions. Humankind always had its own opinion on angels, but unsurprisingly, most of these assumptions are wrong. The Bible will contradict many of these theories on angels or it will prove them right. It just depends how educated these assumptions are. 1. Q: Who are angels? (Hebrews 1:13, 14) A: Note: In other words angels are ministering spirits created by God. They live with God in Heaven and come down to Earth to hep man. 2. Q: How many angels are there? (Matthew 25:41) A: Note: Like the rest of the wicked (in the second coming), they will burn. Lucifer shall burn the longest for his treachery against God. He will watch others burn then his followers, while he burns in the fire watching all his followers fall. Then he will fall, the last, he will burn alone. 13. Who is Michael the Archangel? (Jude 1:9, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Revelation 20:5, Revelation 22:8, 9, Daniel 12:1, Joshua 5:13 15, Exodus 3:5, Acts 7:33) A: Note: Michael the Archangel is also the captain of the Lord s army. He let Joshua sit there and worship him, but in other verses it says that angels don t accept worship. In other verses Jesus has accepted worship. This captain also said to take off your sandals for your standing on holy ground. God has said
