2. Significant Role Differences In Managerial Accounting And...
There are significant role differences when it comes to management accounting and financial
accounting. Both types have important requirements and expectations. Not one has more
significance than the other because large businesses in particular have a need for both. Both types
will be discussed and then how managerial accounting will help to improve both operational and
financial performance.
Management accounting is designed to be more of an internal control than an external control.
What is meant by an internal control is managerial accounting is designed more for a work center
or specific department within a business. Reports are created to assist managers in determining
what the best path would be for their specified work area. The accountants that are focused in
managerial accounting will be generating daily, weekly, and/or monthly reports assisting the
managers to gain insight on any changes that need to be made whether it s with employee hours to
be used or pricing of inventory for profits. The reports that are developed simply to help provide a
pathway guiding the manager s decisions. Managerial accounting doesn t simply apply to lower
level management. Upper management will also use the reports from managerial accountants to
identify if there are any trends in sales whether up or down, budget requirements, consolidation
reports, and any studies that may have been accomplished. The big difference between managerial
accounting and financial accounting is managerial

3. High Fructose Corn Syrup Research Paper
High fructose corn syrup is a by product derived from corn and a sweetener used in a plethora of
food items, such as beverages and processed food. High fructose corn syrup differs than table
sugar in composition: high fructose corn syrup is made of either 55% of fructose and 45%
glucose, or 58% fructose and 42% glucose, while white table sugaris composed of 50% glucose and
50% fructose. Although there is a small difference between the compositions, the body metabolizes
high fructose corn syrupdifferently than table sugar, which contributes to a myriad of health
problems such as obesity, liver scarring, and diabetes. Therefore, high fructose corn syrup is
detrimental to our health and can cause severe damage to our bodies.

American population. Obesity can be caused by a myriad of factors: genetics, ... Show more content

argued was that high fructose corn syrup and table sugar are metabolized differently, in which
Klurfeld argues that since they are similar in composition, they are metabolized the same

fructose immediately converts to fat after being sent to the liver ( Abundance of fructose not good

FedEx Corporation provides customers and businesses worldwide with a broad portfolio of
transportation, e commerce, and business services. FedEx was founded in 1971. Headquarters is
currently located in Memphis, Tennessee. There are currently more than 340,000 employees
working throughout FedEx Corporation. FedExCorporation is the parent company of operation

FedEx Services. Even though all of the listed companies are managed cooperatively under the

Company Overview
History
In 1965, Yale University undergraduate Fredrick W. Smith wrote a term paper that laid out the
logistical challenges facing pioneering firms in the information technology industry. Smith
explained in his term paper how companies using airfreight shippers relied on passenger route
systems, but those didn t make since. He proposed a system specifically designed to accommodate
time sensitive shipments. His teacher didn t find anything special about his term paper, so he
received just an average grade.
In August 1971, Smith bought controlling interest in Arkansas Aviation Sales located in Little
Rock, Arkansas. While operating his new firm, he saw firsthand how difficult it was to get
packages and other airfreight delivered within one or two days. It was then when he set out to find
a better way; which was when Federal Express was born. Smith named the

POLS EU
April 18, 2016
Poland s Revoked Voting Rights in the European Union The end of the Second World War created
an era of peace for some countries, but for those under the control of the Soviet Union, life became
extremely difficult both socially and politically. Poland was under the direct authority of the USSR
and was subjugated to live with an authoritarian government, whom did not allow political
opposition and freedom. Decades passed until the USSR collapsed and even then Poland faced
rigged elections and remained under a regime that denied political change. The late twentieth
century spurred on opportunity for Poland when the first free election initiated an era of democracy
in politics and the promotion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This hazard came after the government of Poland had reorganized the voting requirements of the
Constitutional Court and altered the structure of the nation s media outlets. The majority ruling
party within Poland, the Law and Justice Party, also raised moral questions among other EU
member states by establishing new government appointed leaders to the public television and
broadcasting agencies. This new change in judicial processes and media control has led many
members of the European Union to question both the democracy and corruption within the Polish
government and to determine if the new policies have infringed on the EU s values and morals.
Therefore, these recent political fluctuations have lead me to ask what powers does the EU have to
influence a member countries media and court institutions, why has the EU become worried about
Poland, and in which ways will the EU attempt to sanction Poland for their alterations? This
research paper will elaborate on Poland s recent political changes. It will then analyze how Poland s
changes have raised controversy with the European Union and why the EU was concerned. Lastly,
the research will demonstrate which institutions in the EU have jurisdiction over such a conflict,
and how the European Union will attempt to nullify Poland s voting rights within the EU.

8. Flower Ornament Sutra Vs Buddhism Essay
Buddhism, on the other hand, understands the psychological nature of humans very deeply and
develops effective treatment methods. As revealed in the Flower Ornament Sutra [Avatamsaka
Sutra], Our perception Three Kingdoms arise from the mind, so do Twelve Links of Dependent
Origination; birth and death come from the mind, which are extinguished when the mind is put to
rest . If we view Buddhismin this lens, itself in conglomeration with psychologyhas much to reveal
about both practices (Williams Oerberg, Elizabeth, 2012).
The journey home that Buddhists refer to as the privilege of enlightenment, the ultimate truth, is
called the paramattha. The Paramattha is not the same journey as other faiths profess, because other
faiths, like the science known as psychology, emphasize outside influence, in one way or another, in
the ancient long search for understanding. Understanding life, afterlife, existence, thought,
personality, behavior, and the unknown. These latter truth seekers have overlapping roads of

foundation which is impossible to invade or ascertain in a scientific environment of practitioners,
that is a knowing and following of spiritual awakening. The Buddhists quest begins with this
necessary desire, Bodhi, which means awakening. It is a long journey home because I am now

9. The Bombing Of The Wright Brothers
The First two names that come to mind when it comes to aviation are Wilburn and Orville; the
Wright brothers; Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, when the Wright brothers made the first heavier

brilliant minds, such as De Rozier, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, Christiaan Huygens and
Isaac Newton has been set in place which lead to this 12 second flight by the Wright brothers in
1903. It was the matter of time after the first powered aircraft when the development of the first
practical airplane in 1905 and launched worldwide efforts to build better flying machines. As a
result, the early 20th century witnessed myriad aviationdevelopments as new planes and
technologies entered service. (FAA, 2015). With this new method of transportation booming and
every nation around globe part taking in it, comes the concern of safety and organize operations.
Every second, minute, hour of every day, an aircraft takes off somewhere around the world. Each
flight, all with different operational purposes, destination, have one thing in common. They are all

11. Similes In The Hanging, By George Orwell
The hanging is a short story written by George Orwell is in essence an anti capital punishment
piece written to persuade the reader that capital punishment s an unjust crime against humanity, and
just as bad as whatever crime the criminal has committed. George Orwell throughout the literary
piece makes use of similes, contrasts, and irony in order to persuade the reader of Orwell s
viewpoint.
Furthermore, throughout the short story in its entirety we see the constant use of similes in an
effort to help the reader visualize the scene at hand. For instance, during the start of the story we
see Orwell equate the jail cell to, small animal cages ; Orwell does this to help illustrate to the
reader the truly abominable circumstances that befell the prisoners of the facility. If Orwell were
to simply state that the conditions were atrocious it d be easier to distance ourselves from the
conditions at hand, by using this simile he has in effect made it nearly impossible for the reader
to distance themselves, as the imagery cascades into his thoughts through the simile. Moreover,
as they grab onto the prisoner and forcibly hold onto him to prevent any potential escape attempt,
Orwell likens the situation to, Men handling a fish which is still alive and may jump back into
the water. Orwell does this with the intention of painting the image of a small slippery man
being handled by men who can t get a grip upon him due to the rain and his stature. Furthermore,
when the prisoner is crying out Ram, Ram, Ram! Orwell says it s akin to the, Tolling of the bell.
which s basically to say it was the sound of death, as funeral homes toll the bell during a funeral
service; ultimately, orwell uses these similes as a way to paint a picture of what s going on in the
reader s head. It brings a darker undertone to the story and helps reinforce what Orwell sees as the
dark, sadistic nature of capital punishment.
Moreover, Orwell uses contrasting ideas to further indulge the reader plunging deeper into the
abyss of gloom that Orwell is attempting to get the reader to stare into. Orwell illustrates this rather
soundly when the dog is brought into the equation, It came bounding among us with a loud volley
of barks, and

14. Comparing Terminator Two And Wachowski s The Matrix
Science fiction films constantly question technology s role in our lives. Films such as James
Cameron s Terminator 2 (1991), George Lucas s THX 1138 (1971) and the Wachowski s, The
Matrix (1999), discuss the anxieties and dangers associated with technology. THX 1138 alerts the
audience of the control technology has over the people who use it. The Matrix critiques how
susceptible people are to believe in the visuals of cinema and reject through reality. Terminator 2
focuses on the unreliably of technology and alerts us of our need to stop relying to machinery and
technological development. Each of these directors portrays the dangers of technology though their
own individual use of cinematic expression. The entire premise of Terminator 2 is to go back in
time in order to enlighten those in the past about the dangerous outcome technology will have on
their future. People are unaware of the consequences of using and developing technology. This

The Matrix used some of the most high tech technology and editing to do so. Morpheus s ship is
completely wretched and the computers they use are run down. Including unattractive technology
in the composition of the film makes that same technology unappealing to the viewer. The
directors created The Matrix in order to represent the illusions our screens depict. There is editing
that slows down or speeds up the action scenes, like when Neo dodged the multiple bullets, in
order to express the bending of reality. Another example of the cinematic bending of reality is
when the helicopter hits a building and we see the glass walls ripple out. Bending lines represent
the distortion of reality in the film. Technology distorts our perception and confuses us as to the
difference of cinematic magic and the reality of

The Goose Girl by: Shannon Hale
I chose to read The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale for my book report this quarter. This book is
about a crown princess named Anidori Kiladra Talianna Isilee of the kingdom of Kildenree; and
her gift of speaking with animals.
This book starts off with Anidori Kiladra Talianna Isilee s birth. What worried the Queen, her
mother, and many others was the fact that she did not open her eyes for her first few days. The
only thing that saved her was her loving aunt who took charge of the situation and treated her just
as if she had the normal habits of a young child. This Aunt also instilled the nickname Ani for the
young princess. Together the two would often take walks down to the palace pond, where a flock
of swans calls their home.
Over the years Ani learns much from her Aunt. Including the lovefor nature and how we all are
born with a word of a language on our tongues. She goes on to explain that there are three types of
language, There are three kinds, three gifts. Did you know your mother has the first? The gift of

What are the main arguments and the reasons and rationalizations that need to be addressed? Due
to the recession the company is experiencing a decline in profits, however, the business remains
profitable. Potentially, the recession could continue and business may decline further. A proactive
plan is better than being reactive in regards to addressing the declining profits. Layoffs are the
quickest and easiest solution to the issue. On the other hand, the success of the company is in large
part due to the hard work of the staff who would lose their employment. In addition, it must be

Dennis is at the forefront of this issue presenting the pros and cons of the layoffs and his
position may be at stake if it is perceived he is not utilizing appropriate judgement. The

of the things that attracted Dennis to the company and the layoffs could seriously damage the

A business must resolve the conflict that exists between their responsibility to meet economic
targets and the ethical responsibility of non maleficence. Furthermore, it must be determined if the
layoffs would even maximize stakeholder welfare from a utilitarian perspective (Arce Xin Li,

regenerates itself after falling into flames (Bethel University, 2017). The story relates to that in the
sense that Miss Jackson doesn t let anything stand in her way and keeps pushing forward despite
her obstacles. There were many moments in the story where Phoenix could have given up and
retreated home. The first would have been the noises she heard in the bushes as she walked. The

Shrek versus Beowulf (Hero s Journey) Joseph Campbell dedicated his whole life researching
patterns that appear in almost every hero story or movie. He discovered that there are a few basics
stages that just about every hero character goes through. This cycle is called the monomyth or
more commonly known as the hero s journey. This paper will compare and contrast Beowulf and
Shrek and how each fits into the monomyth. Every story that involves a hero will subsequently
follow the concept of the Heroes Journey. In both Shrek and Beowulf, crossing the threshold

different enemies in order to reach the end goal. It just so happens that both of them faced a fire

accurate. The last stage of the heroes journey that will be analyzed using the stories Shrek and
Beowulf is the master of two

22. Essay on The Sociological Imagination
My personal condensed definition of the sociological imagination is that it is the idea one should
be aware of the societal structures around themselves, and how those structures can influence a
person and vice versa. In addition, I think that having a sociological imagination also involves a
deep appreciation for the importance of society and culture. Consequently, for a person that has
completed a basic introduction to sociologycollege course and actually paid attention, I would hope
that they have been exposed to some basic taste of the sociological imagination.
Over the past three and a half years as a student of Sociology at State University, I believe my own
sociological imagination has grown exponentially, and I have been ... Show more content on

In regards to what Mills originally thought about this concept, he wrote that the sociological
imagination enables its possessor to understand the larger historical scene in terms of its
meaning for the inner life and the external career of a variety of individuals. It enables him to
take into account how individuals, in the welter of their daily experience, often become falsely
conscious of their social positions (Mills 1959:5). In many ways, Mills own definition of this
concept is focused on shifting a person s viewpoint of the world from a singular and
individualistic ideal to a viewpoint that looks more about the societal and historical view of the
world, especially within the context of a person s current placement in social history.
However, as I mentioned earlier, other sociologists have also formulated the same general
concept that Mills touched upon in his sociological imagination. An example is the work of
Peter Berger and his idea about having a sociological perspective. Specifically, one of Berger s key
elements of his sociological perspective as having involves a process of seeing through the
facades of social structures.... (Berger 1963:29). In addition, Berger believes that being
sociologically aware allows a sense of consciousness that Berger argues is a pre requisite to true
freedom ; thus, he always thought of sociology as a form of

I was already miles down the trail before I began to second guess my decision of hiking towards

The first fire was a success, so I thought to myself, This one will be no different. I was wrong. The

The mind is an exceptionally fragile thing, when off kilter it can fabricate many ideas and
feelings. Many writers believe that there is no death more poetic than that of a beautiful young
woman leaving behind her grieving lover. In the 1845 poem, The Raven, Edgar Allan Poe explores
the psychological madness that comes with trying to escape the curse of time. Poe uses repetition
to uncover character instability, illustrate self torture, and the loss of self that is fearfully avoided

Income Tax
As the name implies income tax is a percentage of a person s income but it is not quite as simple as
the percentage changes depending on how much you earn on average in a year (See Figure 1)
ergo if you make more money you pay a larger amount of income tax, however most people get a
Personal Allowance of ВЈ10,000 a year which you don t pay tax on therefore if you don t earn more
than this amount you aren t required to pay any form of income tax. There are certain forms of
income which you don t pay tax for example certain state benefits, interest on savings, rental
income below ВЈ4,250 and premium bonds.

VAT
VAT is a form of tax which is taken from the majority of goods and services, as well as certain

Faulks could have written him like this to show the transformation in the character between the
years, due to the loss of Isabelle and what he has seen during the war. These events may have left
Stephen unable to socialise with the men and prove himself as a key figure of authority.
Stanhope is visibly affected by the war, because he drinks, becomes angry with the men and
shows a detachment towards everyday life. This could show his cowardice towards war. He tells
Osborne that Whenever I look at anything nowadays I see right through it. This could be
showing Stanhope s general attitude towards war, as his years of experience could have shown
him exactly what the war was really like. By drinking to disguise his cowardice, Stanhope could
also be drowning out his true feelings. Sherriff could have written him like this to portray how a
soldier coped with the pressures of the war. This could show the audience the true reality of the
war, because he seems to show the deterioration of Stanhope throughout the short time period of
the play. In contrast to this, Stephen feels disgusted by the war, but he seems curious as to what
will happen. He tells Weir that I am deeply curious to see how much further it can be taken. This
could show Stephen s general interest in the war, even though he also seems to hate it. An
inquisitive nature is implied here, as Faulks could have written him to

Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and Nat King Cole. These men all lived vastly
different lives, but one exploit that they will always hold in common is that they helped to
develop jazz into the integral part of music it exists as today. Jazz created a form of expression
that allowed an entire generation to show what they valued and what they represented in life, which
is exactly what the men I mentioned earlier did. Accordingly, they did not just make catchy tunes
for dancing to and melancholy songs for crying to, they wove narratives that described their hope,
dreams, and struggles. Moreover, this expression is why jazz almost synonymous represents the
development of African American culture in the late 19th and early 20th century. The genre
provided an opportunity for blacks to break free of the poverty and racism that still attempted to
shackle the entire raceand it also provided a foundation several major African American cultural
movements including the Civil Rights Movement and Harlem Renaissance. Consequently, jazz
remains one of the most influential parts of African American culture today. It not only helped
blacks show pride in and develop their culture, but it also allowed an ordinarily overlooked raceto
display its struggles to the world and blur the barrier between white and black. To truly understand
why music, and jazz, remain such a monumental part of African American culture, it is important to

In regard to the reading Ideological Perspectives on Canada by Patricia Marchak we discuss
three ideologies such as the dominant ideology, counter ideology, and ideology in basic terms.
Exploring the various aspects which these ideologies impact individuals and society an
importance arises which explains why these beliefs are important to all. With ideology being of
great importance we should study how it impacts children, large populations, and social norms.
Fist, it is important to study ideology for the benefit of our future generation, children. Parents
can enforce or inexplicitly teach their own beliefs to their children whether it is right or wrong.
Explanations of how money, jobs, gender, education, and other important topics are ideologically
taught to children through a sense of bias. It is not meant at times by the parent but enforcing that
working a high paying job is only acceptable, or an uneducated person is unintelligent when there
are many versions of knowledge apart from university to be learned. The reason I state that we
should study ideology is because everyone has different views to which is taught to the younger
generation who will pass on what they have learned in the future. It is what ideology is learned
today is how other individuals will act... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

One of the most hotly contested debates in today s realm of environmental concern is how to

humanity has been blessed with plentiful reserves of cheap crude oil, which can be refined into a
multitude of items that make the lives of many so convenient gasoline, heating oil, natural gas,
plastics, and fertilizers. In some parts of the world, these technologies merely facilitate survival.

Fossil fuel consumption in the United States is colossal. In Colorado, the average household uses
70 million Btu of energy from natural gas and 150 million Btu from gasoline in 2000. (Energy

In that same year, multiply that by Colorado s 1,658,238 households (US Census Bureau) and find
that the state s residential sector consumed around 2,188,874,160 gallons of gas at the turn of the
century. Per capita, Colorado ranks just 36th amongst the states in energy consumption. (Energy

This does not begin to tell the whole story. On the whole, keeping with Colorado as an example,
we in this state used 1.35 quadrillion Btu of energy in 2003, about 1.4% of the U.S. 98.6
quadrillion Btu, with just over 2% coming from renewable sources. Also in 2003, the world was

throw out that statistic that America, with just under 5% of the world s population, uses around
one fourth of the world s energy? It s true. Translation: the U.S. is horrifyingly vulnerable to a shut
off of foreign oil supplies.

In 1939 during the case of United States v. Miller, the Supreme Court ruling supported preservation
of a well regulated militia. The United States Supreme Court held and proved in this scenario, that
the Second Amendment does not guarantee individual rights or protect the possession of such an
instrument (Oyez, n.d.) in all situations. Gun control has long been a controversial topic in the
United States. In 1791 the Second Amendment was ratified in the Constitution (Shallope, 1982).
Since its ratification, the amendment has been interpreted two different ways depending on the
acceptance or opposition to the issue (Shallope, 1982). Those opposing lax gun laws interpret the
Second Amendment as only applying to the prohibition of the federal government interfering with
state militia; it does not apply to individual citizens (Shallope, 1982). Laws concerning individual
citizens rights to purchase, own, and carry a gun vary from state to state. Even though license
requirements still differ across states, as of the year 2013, when Illinois became the last state to
permit the carrying of a concealed handgun in public, the act of concealed carry is now legal in all

on staff in the ability to facilitate their own groups, and stressed that the key to this is the ability to
effectively participate in conflict resolution (Donaldson, Marnik, Mackenzie, Ackerman, 2009). The
authors suggested that conflict is part and parcel of school reform and that in addition to being able

about consensus within the group, noting that interpersonal and intrapersonal skills were as much
or more important than knowledge (Donaldson, Marnik, Mackenzie, Ackerman, 2009). In the area

on people and relationships and that when this exists as a core part of the belief system of the

For the purposes of this essay, the definition of religion will be that of the Oxford Dictionary s,
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
(Oxford). At the time, while Plato was still alive in Ancient Greece(424 348 BCE), religion was
used to account for acts of nature that were unexplained. Religion was used to relate to our human
nature it is our nature to ask questions, or to contemplate, and religion offered answers to many of
those more difficult questions, questions dealing with our existence, the nature of reality, and the
notion of the soul. But beyond these questions, religion (especially at the time) was used in
attempts to influence fortune in both this world and beyond. This is why the Ancient Greeks built
their temples and made their sacrificial offerings to their gods, and the reason why many who

religion offers a sense of spiritual placement and purpose (Theo), and it created a common bond

the influenza vaccine, or flu shot, saves thousands of lives a year and helps prevent serious
complications resulting from influenzainfection.
At no time was a search for the cure for influenza more frantic than after the devastating effects of

The first attempt was a great success, but when they tried the same experiment again, the second

with it and died. Robert Shope, even though distressed at the loss of his mentor, continued the
influenza research, going back to the idea that the flu was caused by a virus. To act upon his theory,
Shope filtered the mucus from sick pigs through a filter that allows only viruses through. He
administered the virus to healthy pigs, but they did not become infected. Shope was beginning to
believe that the cause of influenza is what is known as multifactorial, when a disease has no single
cause. He postulated that perhaps the virus and the bacterium must work together to cause
influenza. Professor Wilson Smith, Sir Christopher Andrewes, and Sir P. P. Laidlaw were
investigating a pandemic in England at the same time as Shope was conducting his research. They
began attempting to infect ferrets by giving them filtered human mucus that contained influenza

scientists continued to research influenza. In 1936, these scientists discovered that influenza can be

Even among the giants of literature, such as Arnold, Wordsworth, and Milton, Thomas Sterns

does one choose one work to define this man? Examining his personal beliefs and writings, there
are a few threads which connect them all. These threads culminate in his 1925 poem, The Hollow

Instead, they wander aimlessly as people who are neither good nor evil, but only sad an
ineffectual like the people in the featured poem. Eliot uses the imagery of the desert as shorthand
to convey this idea to his readers. It is clearly seen that Eliot s masterful use of imagery is
present in this passage. The first theme shared throughout Eliot s works is the inability to love
and the powerlessness which comes from it. This is depicted in the lines Trembling with
tenderness/Lips that would kiss/Form prayers to broken stone (Eliot, Hollow Men). These
people desire to kiss and be intimate with each other but despite their passion, they are unable to
do so, able only to repeat useless prayers. This idea is present in another one of Eliot s poems: The
Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. In this poem, an ageing man named Prufrock wishes to ask a girl
an overwhelming question , but is incapable of doing so due to his fear and anxiety. Prufrock
eventually resigns himself to a lonely existence, viewing himself as repulsive and worthless as a
crab Scuttling across the floors of silent seas (Eliot, Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock 73 74). Just
as the desert people are unable to connect with each other; Prufrock is unable to ask his question.

Dimmesdale is a minister in the town of Boston, Massachusetts. To the people of the town he is
the example of divinity and purity. The townspeople believe he was chosen by God, but inwardly
Dimmesdale is housing a secret, a sin, that is eating away at him. Hester Prynnea beautiful, young

Pearl. Prynne displays the symbol of her sin by wearing a scarlet letter A, but Dimmesdale has
not confessed and has planted his sin in his heart. First, Dimmesdale is minister and is the one
to preach weekly sermons to the people of Boston. In his sermons he ministers that sinners will
wither and drown in the guilt of their sin not by the wrath of God, but by the self acknowledged
shame and guilt. He had striven to put a cheat upon himself by making the avowal of a guilty
conscience, but had gained only one other sin, and a self acknowledged shame, without the
momentary relief of being self deceived. (149) Outwardly Dimmesdale teaches that guilt will
drown you, while inwardly he is the one that is drowning. His physical appearance is constantly

40. Dungeons And Dragons
How Dungeons and Dragons Affects Social Anxiety and Cognitive Abilities Dungeons and
Dragons is a tabletop role playing game designed to fuel people s imagination creativity and
other cognitive abilities. Dungeons and Dragons or DnD for short is a great game for social
interaction and entertainment between friends and even strangers. One of the advantages of DnD
is being able to create connections with new people. The people that play DnD include a variety
of different people, other than just the stereotypical nerds, like Vin Diesel. DnD is more than just
a game, it can be used as a tool for therapy and learning/teaching. DnD emphasizes and rewards
taking risks and being cooperative with your teammates/party. It allows for people who are... Show

Social anxiety is not fun, but maybe one day with the help of DnD people can eventually
overcome it. I believe that DnD will be able to help deal with mental afflictions like anxiety and
depression. Many people struggle with interacting with other people, but that is not a bad thing. It
is unfortunate at some times, but eventually they will have a bad social experience. DnD is not
used to perfect their social choices, but more to make sure they can cope with the bad choices.
When they swing at that dragon they better be know what they are getting into, and the same
when they may be offered drugs. They must make the right choice and hopefully DnD will help
them through. Life skills are skills obtained through experience, good or bad they always learn
something. With DnD maybe the bad does not have to have the same harsh consequences as real
life. To summarize that is the main point of Dungeons and Dragons, to make life not as

41. Analysis Of This Side Of Paradise By F. Scott Fitzgerald
While in army training camps during the years 1917 to 1918, F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the first
draft of his first novel. It was originally called The Romantic Egotist and was rejected by the
publisher twice before he revised it a third time and changed the title to This Side of Paradise.
This Side of Paradise is one of Fitzgerald s most popular works and is considered to be the book
that launched his writing career. The novel is semi autobiographical, meaning it contains several
autobiographical aspects and reflects the events and people that occurred within his life, while
using fictional characters and elements.
Fitzgerald reflects many features of his life and his experiences throughout the novel. The story
revolves around a young boy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the contrasting perspectives of both the characters. The conflict portrays Myra s assured feelings
for Amory meanwhile revealing Amory s ambiguous feelings towards Myra when it comes to love
and affection. He realizes this is not what he really wants and becomes uncomfortable with the
whole situation. This is the first example of a relationship ending due to Amory s unstable and
conflicting feelings towards girls and anticipates his future problematic relationships with women.

Student achievement is one of the most significant goals that every education policy is intended to
make better. Recent developments in information and communication technology (ICTs) and
pedagogical improvisations create better platforms for positive student achievement. However,
many aspects are associated with the overall achievement including physical, biological, and
psychological aspects. All the three parts are associated with the gender. Many studies have shown
that gender affects the achievement of students in schools and in most of the cases boys perform
poorly as compared to girl students. This paper is intended to establish a diagnostic framework of
reasons behind the underachievement of boys by critically analysing Rickard Jonsson s research
Boys Anti School Culture? Narratives and School Practices . The researcher selected two
secondary schools situated at Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden. This place is a recognized
multi ethnic suburb with diverse cultural richness. In this research study, Jonsson (p. 277) asserts
that underachievement of boys has been a very hot public debate and at most of the times it is
pedagogical framework that is being continuously changed to get the even results. The main

Leader sometimes need to take difficult decisions, especially when a team member is not

Beane s coaching, he is perform this difficult task with sensitivity. Beane himself doesn t shy away
from a difficult conversation. Another scene that comes to mind is Beane s conversation with
David Justice (Stephen Bishop), during batting practice. Justice has been on the team for a long

Leaders who can identify and execute new ways of operating, will be the winners. The
complexities that Beane faced ensured that he left his comfort zone to confront issues that he
previously wouldn t face. Beane usually didn t interact with the players. He realized that he
needed to change, when he sensed the disconnect on the team. Talking to the players, engaging
with them, articulating his vision, encouraging them was a major change that Beane made in his
leadership style. There is often a big gap in the performance of high performing and average
leaders. Using an outcomes based development approach, much like Beane, average leaders may
be able to close reduce this gap by half, thus impacting the organization immeasurably. While all
individuals have the innate potential to be a leader of some kind, not everyone can be a great
leader. Just as an athlete s physical characteristics define the sport that best fits his or her abilities,
an individual s cognitive abilities and hard wired personality strengths define their most effective

best farmland 26%of its railways and 70% of its industry.
There was a civil war in Russia the Reds(Bolsheviks) and the Whites (supporters of the Tsar). The

teammates were struggling to get on base. I looked at the crowd. They all had a look on them that
told me I was the only hope. With two outs and one more to go I felt like just packing up my stuff.
Before me was Flynn and Jimmy. With little hope that everyone had left I hung my head down in
shame that we couldn t win. Then all of sudden Flynn got a single and Jimmy crushed the ball.
This brought all of the glooming people right back up. Everyone that was watching us screamed

47. The Problem Of Landfill Accident
1.Introduction:
With the rapid growth of population and economic, more and more waste is produced. Landfill is
still the main method of waste disposal. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the
United States has 3091 active landfills and over 10000 old municipal landfills. It was estimated
that 265 million metric tons of municipal waste was disposed in the United States in 2013 (Powell,
Townsend and Zimmerman, 2015). However landfills pose great threats to our environment and
public health. All landfills will eventually fail and leak leachate into ground and surface water. The
fact that landfill accidents such as fire, explosion and slip occasionally happen makes people show
more concern with landfills nowadays. So it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gas migration along with surface and groundwater contamination are the three dominant types of
landfill failure in the survey area. Besides, slope failure and fire occupy 8% and 3% of the total
failure respectively.
Landfill gas is a complex mix of different gases created by the action of microorganisms within a
landfill. Approximately 46% of landfill gas is composed of methane. Most of the rest component is
carbon dioxide. Also there is trace amount of other volatile organic compounds which comprises
less than 1%. The developed pressure, concentration and temperature gradients cause the landfill
gas emissions to the atmosphere vertically and migrations to surrounding soil laterally. Gas
migration is an indicator of landfill failure because landfill gas becomes a threat to environment
when emitted into atmosphere, since both methane and carbon dioxide are greenhouse gases. Also,
the trace amount of other volatile organic compounds can present serious health hazards (Nastev,
2001). Landfill gas will also pollute land when migrates to surrounding soil.
Surface water contamination Groundwater contamination of landfill because of leachate leakage.
Leachate is aqueous effluent produced as a consequence of rainwater percolation through landfilled
waste, biochemical processes within landfill and the inherent water content of the landfilled waste

48. The Religions Of Christianity And Judaism
Dalai Lama, a well known monk, once said, There is no need for temples, no need for
complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness.
Religion shouldn t be a complicated topic. Religion requires the adherent to use their brain and
heart as if it was their place of worship. The adherent s actions take place in the brain; their actions
would be part of the worship. Religion is often associated with philosophy, which is unnecessary.
Religion is not complicated. The adherent of Christianityor Judaismshould have the mindset of
kindness and nothing else. Although the religions of Christianity and Judaism are similar in
viewing Jerusalem as a holy place, they differ in beliefs about Godand symbols that represent their
religion. A common similarity between Christianity and Judaism is their holy place. Christianity
views Jerusalem as a place of holiness since it was where Jesus dwelled. Erica Chernofsky, a
BBC News Reporter, observes that, Christians see Jerusalem as a holy place of Jesus s death,
crucifixion, and resurrection ( Chernofsky, 2014, par. 7). The death, crucifixion and resurrection of
Jesus are three of the main events in Christianity. Jesus was crucified by being hung on a cross to
die. Following death and crucifixion, Jesus rose from the death, which is known as resurrection. All
of these events occurred in Jerusalem, which is the key to Christianity. This series of important
events to Christianity caused Jerusalem

49. Analysis Of The Film Gladiators
The film Gladiators was about the reign or Marcus Aurelius coming to an end. When Marcus
chooses Maximus, an army general and a powerful man with good morals, over his own son
Commodus, to be heir to the throne of the Roman Empire, Commodus is enraged and sentences
Maximus and his family to death. Maximus escapes his death sentence but is unable to save his
family. The loss of his family causes his willpower to disappear which allows him to be captured
and put into the games of the Gladiators until death. The only thing keeping him fighting is that he
has a chance to rise to the top and take revenge on the man who destroyed everything he loved, the
new emperor Commodus.
In my opinion, I would say the protagonist of this film was Maximus by far. Maximus was an
army general with good morals, a strong man who cared for others, a family man who would do
anything for the ones he loved, but most of all, he had courage. He wasn t afraid to do what
needed to be done when it was necessary. In the film, Maximus said something along the lines of I
am required to kill when it is necessary, not for enjoyment. His internal compass spins correctly,
unlike the antagonists. I would deem Commodus the antagonist of this film. First, he kills Marcus
Aurelius, the most loved ruler of Roam and a wonderful man, once he finds out that he isn t the
chosen heir to the Roman Empire. Second, he sentences Maximus and his entire to family to death
in a brutal, inhumane way. Commodus has some

While it is impossible to truly elaborate or even go into much detail on the exploits of Captain
John Smith s life, in this paper I will be covering several of his many achievements. In addition, I
will be dispelling several of the popular myths in regards to his life that many modern day
Americans believe in. Some of these more modern day myths or false narratives are due to his
story being adapted and changed in order to make a children s video by Disney, while others have
been debated by historians ever since they were penned by Smith in one of his most famous works
consisting of six volumes: The Generall Historie of Virginia, New England, and the Summer Isles.
While many cannot picture Smith in any context other than with Pocahontas, he had a very active
life before he even met her. As stated by Woolf, prior to even meeting Pocahontas Smith had been in
an army fighting the Ottoman Turks in central Europe, during which he went through several
escapes, was seriously wounded, taken into slavery, after which he murdered his slave master and
escaped, along with being shipwrecked twice. 1 All of these exploits happened before Smith ended
up in Virginia at the Jamestown colony, and met Pocahontas, the narrative of which most
Americans are intimately familiar with or so they think.

Pocahontas and John Smith were never intimate with each other. In addition, while being the

administrators and President Nixon to change their Military tactics (War Protests). Search and
destroy missions were used as one of the military tactics, created by General William Westmoreland.
The idea was to search the enemy and to destroy them immediately before the enemy attacks. The
My Lai massacre is a great example of a search and destroy mission, where American soldiers killed
between 200 and 500 unarmed villagers in My Lai at Westmoreland s command. Their purpose was
to kill guerilla fighters, but instead they brutally took the lives of innocent civilians (My Lai
Massacre). Before the Vietnam War began, communism was already threatening governments
across the globe. Americans believed that containing communist aggression in South Vietnam was
crucial, thus the United States commenced the Vietnam War. As the war continued, Americans
grew increasingly wary of mounting casualties and escalating costs. Instead of the military
consuming money from the Great Society, Americans believed that the government and the
military should have used the funds wisely for social programs, such as welfare and housing for the
poor. The small anti war movement grew into an unstoppable force as the alarming truths about the
war were revealed ( The Antiwar Movement ). According to the article, War Protests from UPI,

How many 16ths of an inch are in a mile? How many fluid ounces in a cubic inch? What is the
conversion factor between degrees celsius and degrees Fahrenheit? These are some of the terrible
questions that plague only the minds of people in three countries in the world: the United States of
America, Myanmar, and Liberia. All 193 of the other countries in the world use the metric system.
The United Statesof America should convert to the metric system because of the following
reasons: it is the global and scientific standard, it is much easier to use, not using it causes US
consumers and businesses to lose money, and our lack of familiarity with it is part of the reason
why our students lag so far behind much of the rest of the world in STEM... Show more content on

One example of this occurred in 1999 when the NASA spacecraft Orbiter burned up in the
Martian atmosphere due to a conversion error. This was caused because one of the Lockheed
Martin engineers tried to use the US customary (imperial) system while all the other engineers
used the metric system (SI) This eventually caused the $125,000,000 orbiter to miss its proper
orbit and burn up in the atmosphere of mars (NASA). Although losses due to conversion errors on
this magnitude are rather uncommon, there are still other ways in which not using the metric
system that can cause US consumers and business to lose money, When selling a product, the
seller needs to have sufficient demand for their product in order to justify the cost of production.
One way to increase the profit is to start mass producing the product. This is because mass
producing can significantly reduce the cost per item to produce a product. However when there is
insufficient demand for a product to mass produce the profit margin will substantially decrease, and
the price of the item for consumers will need to be increased to maintain the cost of operations for
the company making the product. This means that because the US uses a different measurement
system than the rest of the world and has different sizes of products, that any business that makes
things for our country has fewer potential buyers and a higher cost to make each item. This means
that if that business converted to the metric system that they could potentially increase their sales
by a factor of 31. Along with increasing business profits, changing to the metric system would lead
to cheaper prices for all consumers because businesses would not need to have both metric and
special US customary equipment thus, lowering the operating costs of the
