Artists Most Closely Associated with Snyder County, PA
The artists that are today most closely associated with Snyder County are: The Reverend George
Geistweite, Henry Young, and Francis Portzline. There are others like Frederick Kuster, Johann
Conrad Trevits, Daniel Diefenbach, and Daniel Otto who probably never lived or worked
within the geographical confines of what is today Snyder County, but were close enough to
produce work for local families and influenced and were influenced by the works of others
within this region. Also, some important artists from the area have never been identified and
are known only because of their specific style or families for whom they created documents. The
Union County Scrivener who seems to have worked entirely in what is today Snyder County,
The Spigelmeyer Artist, and The Augusta Township Artist are just a few that fall into this latter
category. Other artists produced works for local families, but often they fall into a group of
itinerates who traveled about the state looking for families who wanted their Bibles brought up
to date or documents created for a specific event. In the fall of 1977 Elizabeth Bryding Adams
published an article on Henry Young in the Pennsylvania German Society journal, Der Reggeboge.
The article included 152 of his recorded works and was used as the catalogue for an exhibition on
Young at the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center in Williamsburg, Va. which was on view
that same year. While this article and exhibit was not the first to draw attention

Reasons For The Decline Of Nokia
What is the Present Factors for Nokia s Decline?
Nokia used to be the world s leading manufacturer of mobile phone. However, there is no industry
could be stable all over the time as there are changes while progression. Nokia fell into a very
difficult position because of the introduction of Apple s iPhone in 2007. There are findings stated
that Nokia was going downhill because of the failure to engage in a timely transformational
response to the competitive innovations of Apple. However, a crisis, typically a negative issue, can
be a positive transformational event if the business firm recognizes a crisis and makes appropriate
changes in its operations to support the positive growth and development (John Juan 2010).To

Bodybuilding Nutrition And Nutrition
Bodybuilding Nutrition
Bodybuilding is a sport where men and women s goal is to achieve a symmetrical and muscular
physique with low body fat percentages, usually in order to win a competition. Many factors go into
reaching these goals such as resistant training, genetics, mental will power and nutrition. While all
of these factors are important to a bodybuilder, nutrition seems to be one of the most important,
most researched and most tested and manipulated branch of the bodybuilders lifestyle. Specifically,
the effects of protein on a bodybuilder, the ideal macronutrient ratios (carbs, fat, and protein) for fat
loss and muscle maintenance. and nutrition s effect on resistance training recovery have been
studies to further optimize a bodybuilders physique.
The important yet controversial topic of optional protein intake has been a hot topic for years in
many areas such as the needs for sedentary induvial, sports athletes, Olympic athletes and
bodybuilders. However it is generally agreed upon that while the RDA standard of .75 .80 g/kg
of body weight a day is enough to keep those with physical activities in there day to day life in a
positive nitrogen balance, this is not the case for bodybuilders due to their goals of increasing
muscle mass and intense training. (Masedu, Ziruolo, Valenti, Di Giulio, 2012) A more beneficial
protein intake for bodybuilders should sit around 1.7 2.2 g/kg of body weight a day if the induvial
wants to see optimal results with regards to

Walmart Case Study Essay
Why do you think Wal Mart did not venture abroad until 1991, despite its success in the USA?
Ans. Until then they were happy enough simply to expand their business in US, after that reached
a certain size and the company had the management time to spend on it then it was time to think
about replicating that success abroad. Because the markets abroad are much more competitive
than in America where it is a slayer of small businesses, except for fresh produce sellers.
Globalization has taken off in recent years, before the turn of the century it was much more
difficult and expensive for franchises to efficiently expand outside of their native country. Q2. How
would you explain wal mart choice of countries during the early stages of international expansion in
the 1990 s. Ans. Internationally, the retailer operates in Mexico, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, China,
Korea, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Its expansion strategy internationally has been
aggressive and powerful. The latest expansion strategy is for the company to gain entry into a
nation by corporate takeover of a national retailer. Once the company is bought, Wal Mart converts
the stores into Wal Mart stores. Three countries, all with no previous Wal Mart stores, became part
of the corporation s international presence when domestic retail chains were overtaken. In 1994,
Wal Mart bought 122 Woolco stores in Canada; today there are 196 units in Canada. In 1998 Wal
Mart bought the Wertkauf store with 21 units, now there

Mid term Examination: Enlightenment
Enlightenment was a European intellectual movement that happened in the eighteenth century.
Before the enlightenment, medicine, technology, and people s ideas were restricted due to religion.
A group of writers and scholars wanted to use rational thinking to challenge the unknown religious
questions. But instead of just questioning religion, Enlightenment became something big and better.
It changed the way people thought of government/politics, religion, society classes, and even what
the most important qualities of being a human being were.

Zheng He Served As Eunuch Essay
Zheng He served as eunuch in the emperor s court from 1381 and by 1390; he stood out as an
accomplished soldier who was exceptional in war and diplomacy. In 1403, a new emperor rose
to power and ordered the construction of a treasure fleet which comprised of fleets of trading
ships, warships and support ships which were to be used for foreign travel and trade and
appointed Zheng to be the leader or commander of the Treasure fleet . Zheng Hes voyage took place
between the 14th and the 15th century but Columbus voyage is believed to have taken place in
the late 15th century since the wreckage of Santa Maria, which is believed to be one of Columbus
cargo ships dates back to the 15th century .
Zheng He Treasure Expeditions
Zheng He expeditions took seven segments from 1405 to 1433. The first voyage took place
between 1405 and 1407 where Zheng He set to sail to Calicut to acquire spices such as cardamom,
cinnamom, ginger, turmeric and pepper. The fleet passed through Champa the present day Southern
Vietnam, Siam, Malacca and Java via Indian Ocean before arriving at Calicut. On the homecoming
journey to China, Zheng stopped at Ceylon. The second voyage took place between 1408 and
1409 and it was to Calicut although the route changed this round since it passed through Kochi
and Siam and back. The third voyage took place between 1409 and 1411 and in this instance
Zheng He directed his sailors to sail towards Hormuz where they passed Champa and Sumatra .

The Race Based Affirmative Action
A person has just obtained their dream ACT score, 34, while maintaining outstanding
extracurricular activities throughout high school. After applying to the university of their choice,
they are informed that they have not been admitted. Crushed and confused, they go on the
university s website only to discover that the university is looking for people with a more diverse
racial background. Standing in the way of their acceptance is a defective policy formally known as
race based affirmative action. Informally called affirmative action, it is a combination of adopted
policies that construct an advantage to minority groups, giving them more possibilities to succeed
in jobs, education, and other aspects of daily life. The whole concept came... Show more content on

As affirmative action has become a simplistic strategy to decrease racial bigotry, it has developed
into undermining the minority while producing favoritism. Additionally, the flawed policy has
created preference within career fields and an academic mismatch among races. To eliminate this
outdated system, financial based affirmative action would serve as a revolutionary law that would
help those suffering in poverty without highlighting the color of an individual s skin.
This elementary strategy is actually having the opposite effect of what its main purpose was to not
discriminate against any race. Informally we call it reverse discrimination: colleges or employers
will preferably pick minorities due to racial implications. In one university, this term is
expressively used within the college admissions process. University of Michigan uses a point
system to determine the chances of students getting into their school. The school admits students
who receive 100 to 150 points from the university based on what criteria is met. The system
gives out 20 points if you have enough of a diverse racial background; however, if you get a perfect
SAT score, you only receive 12 points. 20% of the point system is based off of a student s race
compared 12% which is based off a student s knowledge (Williams, 2001). In 2000, it was
challenged and went to the Supreme Court for a landmark case where it was ruled unconstitutional

Absurdity And Society
Philosophy Research paper Extra credit Absurdity and Society According to Camus s
philosophy of absurdity, a person is truly happy when he or she accepts that life is meaningless.
For example, there is no fate, or anything past immediate experience. The hope of something
better in the future is what keeps people happy, which raises a question; are people truly happy?
If a person cannot be happy without finding meaning, then people must accept existence has no
meaning beyond what each individual makes of it, and by accepting a meaningless fate; people
can be truly aware and therefore happy. Religion is another form of hope. It is something to look
forward to, beyond unpleasant worldly experiences. The majority of society in the world have a
religion of some sort in order to create contentment and to disguise what Camus believes the
world to be, an abyss of meaninglessness. Therefore, it is significant to consider: without religion,
if life was truly meaningless, would it still be important to perform good deeds. It is also
noteworthy for people to consider, if life has no meaning, is it still important to love, marry, look
for adventure or opportunity? Camus s perception of absurdity can raise many questions that could
transform the structure of modern society entirely. Firstly, it is practical to question if an absurdist
would fit into modern society at all. To this inquiry, Camus answers that it is not so likely in his
book The Stranger. In this book, the main character

Huey P. Newton Gun Club Analysis
In light of the racial injustice and police brutality happening across America, many in the Black
community have been left wondering what can we do to fix this problem? While it s evident that
the lack of support has left parts of the Black community in a weakened state, many communities
have started to take matters into their own hands, forming gun clubs as a form of self protection.
In the wake of the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown, a new gun club was formed in Dallas called
the Huey P. Newton Gun Club (HPNGC). Its mission is to provide armed security to businesses in
minority neighborhoods. History of Armed Resistance Armed resistance groups are nothing new.

the largest corporation attacks within the last 10 years involving so many accounts. The attack took

The first theory is that the hacker group Anonymous became aware of a vulnerability inside of the
PlayStation network and informed other hacking groups of this information. Then those said
groups decided to take advantage of use an SQL injection attack to gain this information. A SQL
injection attack involves the use of SQL statements written on the database layer of an application
and is then run by the system to perform whatever statement was written there. This attack
happened to be a form of SQL code that would take the information on the database and release it
to the hacker. The other theory of how this occurred lies inside of a PlayStation 3 firmware build
called Rebug , which turns the console into a developer kit used by game designers. With this
feature active, it allows users to access parts of the PS3 s infrastructure that would not be normally
available to the everyday consumer. What also came with this firmware update was the ability to
access Sony s internal developer network. Additionally from there, hackers gained access to the
internal secure network and could perform all kinds of hacks to trick the system. Sony may have
not taken into consideration that their secure network could become a vulnerability to their servers.
The other presented issue that came with this attack was that Sony never encrypted the data on
their servers in the first place. Which means when the

Short Essay On A Car
A dozen years ago, I had this idea: a clear plastic enclosure and mounting brackets for your car so
you could change bumper stickers whenever you wanted, and not end up wallpapering your trunk

when an email about Talelight showed up in my inbox, I was immediately excited. The digital
age had finally caught up with bumper stickers! It makes sense, of course, that display technology

The process for getting stickers onto the device is easy, but not without some controls, again for
safety. You can purchase stickers on Talelight s online store, or design your own if you have the
graphics chops (which really isn t hard at all). You do have to go through a submit/approve
process on their website so they can be careful about trademarked or obscene images, but that
usually takes between 10 minutes and a couple hours, depending on the time of day. You can
also put your own stickers up for sale in their sticker store as a way to generate revenue. Once
you have stickers in your library on the Talelight website, you pick which ones you want on your
device and schedule how they ll display. Then, just go start up your car (the device only runs
when the car is on), open the Talelight app (iOS and Android), and sync. That s it! nd the device
is pretty rugged. It s light enough that, with the provided mounting tape, it really stays put, even
with some rough driving. The port where the USB power cable plugs in is tightly gasketed to
prevent water intrusion; indeed, the Talelight folks claim it s designed to IP 65 waterproof
standards. The bottom line for me is that this is a very cool gadget. I ve always loved the idea of
bumper stickers, but I hesitated using them because I was loath to either damage my car or be
stuck (pun intended) with just one or two messages forever. This

Fictive Fragments Of A Father And Son Analysis
David Mura s Fictive Fragments of a Father and Son focuses on Mura discovering his cultural
identity through his father s past lifestyle. As he analyzes his father s past, he comes to realize
his father stories are possibly fictional, but have an inner meaning regardless. Mura comprehends
how his father s stories focus on the idea of freedom and balancing dual cultures. While placed in
camps at an adolescent age, Mura s father had to learn various types of American ideals including
cultural activities, celebrations, and traditions. One saying that always stuck with the father is a
teacher stating, After the war you will be free again and back in American society (Mura 101). The

Many elements persuaded non natives to gradually feel welcome, but it overall led for them to
change their idea of what being part of America really symbolized. For instance, the father told
Mura that he had played baseball in the camps since the very beginning. With baseball being
originated from the United States, it immediately became stamped as an American sport because it
highlights their strength, masculinity, and ideals of a modern society. By the camp offering a game
such as baseball, it establishes the labels the camp wanted to implement into non natives in hopes of
them to feel more comfortable within society. Another example worth mentioning is participating
in the city s post war celebrations. After the war ended, the father identifies how the community
was celebrating the end of a war. The celebration involved confetti, firecrackers, men sweeping
women off their feet, and lastly, music. Notably, the song emphasized in the celebration was called
Stars and Stripes Forever. A high school band was playing this song loud and proud to demonstrate
their patriotic dedication. The instrumental symbolizes the American flag and beliefs of the
American traditions. After distinguishing how society celebrated their patriotic pride, this led to the
father to come to the conclusion of what the teachers were discussing on how to represent an
American and it was like to be free. Ever since being in the camps, the father felt conflicted on how
to implement his Japanese culture along with his American culture. At the camp, he was taught
American ideals to show his dedication towards their society. In the process, the father became
conflicted on balancing two cultures and overall, led for his freedom to feel limited. Obtaining
freedom signifies expressing oneself however they pleased. At the same time, the camp instructors

Analysis Of The Poem Reluctance
In his poem Reluctance , he talks about being in denial and reluctantly carrying on as if the
relationship will fix itself. The narrator uses nature to describe the state of his relationship, both
longing for healing, but unwilling and unsure of how to go about it. The poem reads,
The last lone aster is gone;
The flowers of the witch hazel wither;
The heart is still aching to seek,
But the feet question Whither? (62)
The aster flower represents the absence of love and patience. Witch hazel, meaning pliant or
bendable, signifies that both parties in the relationship are unwilling to be flexible and
understanding of each other s wants, needs, and desires. Their hearts are aching to seek, (62) but
they are in denial of any possible way to make the relationship work. The relationship between the
last lone aster , witch hazel , and the narrator connect the life and death cycle that is viewable in
nature to his relationship. Frost recognizes that knowledge of nature and man s self knowledge
were thus interdependent. (63) By understanding this, he can apply the wisdom to his
relationship. A flower, as well as a relationship, need to be tended to or will begin the wither.
Nevertheless, the life of the flower or relationship is never guaranteed. In love, one must remain
flexible, knowing that even as a flower begins to wither , there may still be a way to bring it back
to life. No matter how much knowledge is acquired throughout a lifetime, wisdom is in knowing
that

Theme Of Silence In Night By Elie Wiesel
After nearly 2 years of misery, anguish, and despair, a young boy is finally freed to a normal life
he had almost forgotten existed. Elie had started to become accustomed to the fact that indifference
would be what decides if he survived in the concentration camps or not. In the novel, Wiesel
employs the motif of silence to illustrate that silence from the Jews represents the fear, apathy, and
the absence of Godwhich results in them constantly feel hopeless and are mentally defeated.
While the Jews in the camps are silent, this doesn t mean they ve nothing to say, but rather means
they ve grown used to anything they say being in vain and they are too afraid to protest anything.

Similar Ideas Presented in Blade Runner by Ridley Scott...
Bound by different contexts, authors often use a popular medium in order to depict the discontent
of the ideas of society. This is evident in the module Texts in Time; as Blade Runner, having been
written more than one hundred years after Frankenstein is still able to reflect the ideas proposed in
the latter. Blade Runnerby Ridley Scott deals with the effects of globalisation and consumerism
during 1980 s. Alternatively, the epistolary novel Frankensteinby Mary Shelley deals with the
kinship to the natural world set in the Romantic Era and enlightenment period. However Blade
Runner, although subjected by a different context, also portrays a similar idea to Frankenstein; the
fear of science and technology coupled with the value of the definition of a human. Through this
commonality, we are able to utilise the values of Blade Runner in order to truly understand Shelley
s purpose.
During the 1980 s, the increasing amount of industrialisation brought about a new period in time,
the Industrial Revolution. Literally revolutionising the world, the Industrial Revolution changed the
way the world was perceived, no longer an agricultural based society but instead one overrun with
globalisation and consumerism. Scott portrays this in an overindulged manner, looking at the
extreme effects to long time globalisation and consumerism. As depicted in the film, the city is

Essay on Metaphors for Death in Shakespeare s Sonnet 73
Metaphors for Death in Shakespeare s Sonnet 73
William Shakespeare s Sonnet 73: That Time of Year Thou Mayest in Me Behold is a sonnet that
examines the fears and anxieties that surround growing old and dying a topic that resonates within
us all. Shakespeare s use of metaphor to illustrate decay and passing are striking, and sets a somber
tone throughout. He uses the season of Fall, the coming of night, and the burning out of a flame as
metaphors for old age and death, and then uses the last two lines to suggest that we should love and
cherish life while we can.
The first four lines of the sonnet reflect the changing of seasons, and the oncoming of Fall:
That time of year thou mayest in me behold,
When yellow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare uses lines five through eight of the sonnet to describe the closing of a day, and the
onset of night:
In me thou seest the twilight of such day,
As after Sunset fadeth in the West,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death s second self that seals up all in rest.
Like the season of Fall, the twilight of a day is a metaphor for the passing of time. Each new day
can be seen as a life itself. Each morning and afternoon when the day is young is a life full of
possibilities and opportunities. Then twilight approaches, and the day is done, only to be
followed by sleep or as Shakespeare calls it, Death s second self .
Lines nine through twelve describe the dying out of a flame the final extinguishing of a light:
In me thou seest the glowing of such fire,
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death bed, whereon it must expire,
Consumed with that which it was nourished by.
This final metaphor is of death, and a reminder that all things must end. Shakespeare compares a
flame dancing on the ashes of his youth to that of a person lying on his deathbed, where both must
expire .
In this sonnet, Shakespeare uses metaphor to create a vivid image in the reader s mind of the
passage of time, old age, and death by describing the Fall season, the end of a day, and the burning
out of a flame.

Mirroring Characters In Wuthering Heights
Throughout life there will be times when someone would feel betrayed that would cause them to
seek for revenge. That way they would feel they are taking matters in their own hands, and giving
them a feeling of satisfaction. However, satisfaction would only be temporary, after harming people
they love, it ends up causing them and whoever relates to the problem, pain. In Wuthering Heights
by Emily Bronte, the protagonist, Heathcliffwas abused throughout his life and was betrayed by
his love. That is what caused him to seek revenge to whoever had done him wrong. He thought
there he would get stratification, but that just end up bring pain to him and whoever that was was
part of the problem and to the future generation as well. Bronte... Show more content on

For Heathcliff, even though he was the one that plot the revenge he was the one also in pain
because he was creating pain to the person he loved. Since his lover betrayed him. In chapter 3,
it shows the present when Heathcliff is in pain, calling for the person he loved. Come in! Come
in! . he sobbed. Cathy, do come. Oh. Do once more! Oh! My heart s darling! hear me this time,
Catherine, at last! (p.30). Heathcliff already did his revenge towards Catherine, and thinking it
would satisfy him, but it didn t. Instead throughout the years, he had been thinking of Catherine
and hope he could see her. The revenge that Heathcliff plotted, it also affected Hareton. Since
Hindley was abused Heathcliff which caused Heathcliff to cause his son to become a servant
like what Hindley did to him. Since Hareton became a servant it caused him to lack in education.
Since he is in the bottom of the social class it caused him to be vulnerable to be verbally abused

Speech On Abandoned Children
There are many reasons for the large number of abandoned children in India. The children can be
unwanted (mostly girls), illegitimate or orphans due to diseases. The children have to be taken care
of one way or the other. Orphan children are the deprived and the isolated population deserving
special attention to become healthy and responsible children, physically fit, mentally alert and
morally healthy endowed with the skills and the motivation needed by society. UNICEF and global
partners define an orphanas a child who has lost one or both parents. An estimated 31 million
children in India, aged 0 17 years, are orphaned and abandoned according to the most recent
statistics from UNICEF.
Proper family environment plays an important role in the life of children. Nobody can deny the
important role of parents in developing balanced and harmonious development of personality. But
unfortunately cruel fortune deprives some children of the sympathetic affectionate parental care.
These children are known as orphaned children. An orphan is a child permanently bereaved of his
or her parents. In common usages, an orphan does not have any surviving parent to care for him or
her. Because of parental deprivation some children are reared in destitute homes and in orphanages.
This group of children is termed as institutionalised orphan children. These ... Show more content

My Property, My Money! Essay
Biotech companies and health insurance providers are motivated not for the greater good, not to
serve humanity, but to make a profit. Money is the fuel that drives a capitalist society. If doctors,
researchers, and biotech companies reap the benefits of human tissues, certainly donor should, as
well. When a person donates bone marrow or an organ, they do it overwhelmingly to serve their
fellow man (Matas). Unfortunately, big business in the healthcare industry does not lead by man s

That same year, congress also amended patent regulations to allow the commercialization of
products developed through government sponsored research (Skloot 210). Patents slow medical
advancements because it makes tissue more about ownership than progress. Tissue profiteering has
replaced the greater good. A 2005 study published in Science estimated that some twenty percent of
all human genes had already been patented and of those, sixty three percent were by private firms
(Darnovsky, Reynolds). Despite being encouraged by the biotechnology industry, researchers are
at risk of violating patent laws because U.S. patent applications remain confidential for the first
eighteen months after filing (Darnovsky, Reynolds). One notion is to give property rights to
people so they own their tissues, and therefore uninvited removal of such tissue by a third party
would be considered trespassing or theft (Charo). However, universities claim that property rights
in removed tissues would complicate the research process by reducing their ability to use stored
tissues effectively (Charo). The African American community had such little trust for John Hopkins

from obtaining her cells for research purposes had they actually asked her (Singer Vine). When

A Business Plan For A Team
Introduction Every new business commences with a concept or thought or an idea. For instance,
an entrepreneur may be knowledgeable and passionate about something, or maybe there is an
urge to fill a gap in the marketplace and therefore turn the thought into a business. In order to
make this business idea work perfectly, it is necessary to carry out market research, write a
business plan including realistic projections, target the right market and prospects and develop
an effective team to support. A team is a group of individual coming together so as to achieve a
common goal. However there are different types of a team member that are essential in creating
a new entrepreneurial venture, such as the shapers, chairperson, monitor evaluator, company
worker, team worker, et al. All these personalities and diversities are needed in an organization to

Wife Of Bath Compare And Contrast
Analytical Option 4:
In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Wife of Bath s Tale, lines 956 though 988, the Wife of Bath tells the
tale of Midas in a way to explain that women can hide nothing. In the Wife s version of the tale
Midas was hiding his two ass s ears beneath his long hair to the best of his abilities. However, Midas
did not attempt to keep this secret from his wife. He confided in her because he loved her most,
and trusted her most. Midas begged and prayed to his wife that she tell no creature about his
disfigurement. His wife in turn swore to him that she would not dishonor his trust, or sin, in order
to save her husband s and her own reputation and name. However, from keeping such a large

only rendition of the story. With that said, the fourth analytical prompt seemed appropriate for

curious to see how versions differed. As for the creative options, I felt that I could connect with

government would be used as well as its power and the power of the people. While the Federalists
did win in that all the states ratified the document, they also compromised to the Anti federalists and
a Bill of Rights was created additionally. This pleased both sides, the Anti federalists and

The Case of Change at Concord Book Shop
The Case of Change at Concord Book Shop Change in the business environment can be complex;
there are many influences which can impact on whether or not any change implemented will be
successful. When successful the process of change will usually incorporate consider both
commercial pressures and human influences. The case of the Concord Book Shop is an example
of change which was implemented without consideration of the human elements. This can be
appreciated by looking at the stages of change and considering some of the stages which were
omitted at Concord. There are numerous models of change; most change models advocate a
logical approach with different stages. Although the models may differ, they have communalities
which include the need to prepare for the change before its implementation and then entrenching
the change (Cameron and Green, 2012). One of the most recognized is the 8 stage model by
Kotter (2012). The first step is creating a sense of urgency, the second step is forming a powerful
coalition, the third is creating a vision, followed by communication of that vision. The fifth step is
the removal of obstacles; the sixth step is creating short term wins, seventh is building on change
and lastly is anchoring changes in the corporate culture (Kotter, 2012). The steps may be
undertaken in a concurrently as well as consecutive manner, The changes that were implemented by

one. Although, in this quote, Alice does not actually choose a path, she is faced with two choices,

The Scarcity Of Food Scarcity
During the late 1700s, food scarcity was not an issue, for the population was not as large as
today, which is over seven billion people. I would not be worrying about a food crisis or
starvation unless a man like Thomas Malthus came along and spread rumors that it could happen,
especially if it is in our future. Since people were first exposed to that idea during Malthus time, it
is reasonable why people would stress about it instantly. Nobody knows when foodscarcity could
happen. All they know is that it is eminent with regards to Malthus claims that the population is
growing rapidly, and food production will reach its peak. It takes just one food crisis event to

These are issues that need to be considered by farmers, scientists, and agricultural institutions. The
Earth s land is a precious resource, because it sustains the food we need to live. Without land,
there is no place to grow food, and without food, human survival is unlikely. Taking care of the
land is a lifetime job, and all involved in agriculture need to do their job to sustain the resource and
spread the message to future generations. Doing so will allow the land to continue flourishing,
thus maintain the food supply. An overgrowing population, food scarcity, and land maintenance
are some of the problems discussed in food politics, but another issue that is relevant today is
high international food prices. After the year 2000, several economic crisis took place
worldwide, leading countries to close or implement higher taxes on exported food. As a result,
nations secured their domestic markets, but international food prices rose shortly. To deal with
the dilemma, country leaders should consult with each about ways to manage the market during
financial crisis. Some countries rely on exported food to sustain their livestock and population,
so an increase in food prices could force dependent nations to buy less food and sacrifice some of
their livestock, or worse, their people. The reality is that people are already pushed toward
sacrifice. Almost a billion people worldwide are malnourished and close to death. No one

My Family Road Trip
Family Road Trip It was a hot summer day. You could see the heat rise up from the road. The sun
scorched the the sidewalk so intensely I could have fried an egg on it. We had just gotten done
loading our luggage in the van. I grabbed my phone and headed for the door. We were ready to
go to the airport. We had been planning on our trip to California for days. Everyone would not
shut up about seeing our relatives. I just couldn t wait to leave this dreadful, miserable, boring
place called Sedalia. We went to get some gas because it was like a 3 hour drive. When we
stopped my mom was the only one who got out because she didn t want to deal with annoying
brats, my sisters. So I was stuck with them, alone, by myself, in a car. It sounded like there was a
zoo behind me and the monkeys just got loose. Other people were looking at our car and in their
face there was horror. My mom finally gets back and we start to drive. Sense we re going out of
state on an airplane, we couldn t take our car with us. So we went to go pick up my mom s
husband from work. He wasn t going to california with us so he could take the car. We pick him
up, he chucks his lunch box to the middle, and he takes the wheel. We start driving, again. I ve
never really liked my mom s husband, he s always hated me and one of my sisters because we
aren t his. I really don t like anyone I live with. My mom loses things like our birth certificate, her
driver s license, even her bills. I m so over it. My sisters, my sisters are little spoiled crybabies.
When i was there age, I was hit so many times that the buckle of a belt feels like a pinch. I cried
when I got kicked on the side. They cry if someone raises their voice at them the slightest bit. I m
the smartest person in the house, so I m constantly angry because everyone comes to me when
they need help. I help with things like homework, I translate for my mom and her husband, I
never had help. I ve always been on my own, if I need help with something like homework, well
that s too bad because if I don t know something they definitely won t. This road trip is hell, my
sisters don t shut up, my mom is reading the bible out loud, my mom s husband has mexican music
on blast, and I m just quietly suffering.

Plato Vs. Aristotle On Observational And Deductive Reasoning
Since the early sixth century, the questions of reality, matter, and change have perplexed
philosophers. These questions have since become a major topic of inquiry amongst philosophers
eventually garnering the attention of notable figures such as Plato and his pupil Aristotle. Although
both Plato and Aristotle shared many similar notions of order and an eternal universe, their
methods of inquisition as well as their theories of reality and truth vary significantly. This
difference would eventually lead them to develop vary different notions of real knowledge. Plato
primarily focusing on theoretical and mathematical proofs while Aristotle on observational and
deductive reasoning primarily in the field of biology. Due to these stark differences in both men s
philosophy, I will be contrasting both their beliefs, theories and methods, as it relates to knowledge,
its acquisition and change. I will also be discussing my opinions as the importance of their
individual philosophy as it relates to answering these questions.
Although Plato and Aristotle both believed that logic and order governed the natural world, they
disagreed on the nature of this design and thus their ideas of reality. Plato believed that all things in
our world are innately imperfect. The thing we see are just crude representations of an abstract
universal construct. Plato referred to this abstraction as the form which exists independently of all
material things in the mind of some divine architect (the

Stereotypes In Jurassic Park
Some of the dinosaur behaviors in the Jurassic Park book by Michael Crichton weren t
scientifically accurate. The dinosaur characteristics described may have been a bit skewed from
what researchers believe. Not all material was made up, it was nice to see the material that was
actually accurate and understandable. Since dinosaurs lived so long ago, before our time, there s
no way to actually know how they actually looked and act besides from the information gathered
from fossils. One detail that stuck out to me was when scientist Dr. Wu believed that he only
grew female dinosaurs to avoid breeding. According to evidence scientists weren t able to

One fact that was clarified in the book was that Saurapodomorphas didn t like living in swamping

of dinosaur weren t known but many animals learn to adapt and survive. Couldn t scientist make
an estimate of how brain was using the skull of dinosaurs that they discovered? This doesn t
necessarily prove their intelligence but it can be a start. Another detail was that Dilophosaurus
had a poison that they spit to kill their predators because their jaw was too weak but theropods
were known for their sharp teeth and flexible jaw for eating their prey. The velociraptors were
portrayed as very viscous animals that were ready to attack. In the book it said they worked in

Square and at Edgware Road. The fourth bomb attack happened on a double decker bus in Tavistock
Square. The attacks happened during busy rush hour and the was one hour between the three
London Underground train attacks and the attack on the bus. Fifty two people were killed and
more than 700 were injured in the attacks, the bomb attack being the worst terror attack in the UK
since the 1988 Lockerbie bombing. This terrorist attack affected people severely physically, but
most of all, emotionally. The results of a telephone survey done within the general population of
London after the July 7th bombings, show that 55% of 1,010 participants felt their life was in
danger from terrorism and 86% of the participants thought that another attack on London was likely
in the near future (Greenberg, Rubin, Wessely, 2005).
In the past decade, there have been an increased amount of terrorist attacks in Europe, such as
terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2016 and in Manchester Arena in May 2017. Whenever a
terrorist attack happens in Europe, it is widely reported on various media outlets and the extensive
media network of present day allows news to spread quickly. Consequently, even

Is Bigger No Longer Fearful In The Presence Of Gus, Jack...
Book Two: Flight (pages 97 270)
1.Why is Bigger no longer fearful in the presence of Gus, Jack and G.H.? Bigger arrives this
time with money in his pocket and what he believes a more respectable job than what the others
hold. He feels more confident in himself after his thought of his ability to give back to his parents
and friends. As he assumes that the arguments are over and he is in control of his own life again.
Additionally, Bigger has more important problems to worry about than his current friendship, as he
had just murdered a wealthy high class girl. Another important note is how Bigger feels so much
more powerful, he accomplished something that nobody would have thought capable of him, as
such he has such a huge boost of confidence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He realizes that to stand up to Britten s questioning is he able to not be killed for his actions so
he expends most of his mental energy to craft his story, it is a life or death matter for him after all.
5.Why does Bigger threaten Jan with a gun?
Bigger is naturally afraid that Jan might speak a different story than what he told P.I. Britten, so
in an attempt to silence and bully him into submission to stop asking questions. This however
backfires as Jan is not the kind of man who would easily give up on what he set his eyes on, in
this case it was his innocence. Jan is also a man that doesn t like things too complicated, so when
Bigger introduces him to his little murder story, Jan defends his own self well enough that the story
is unearthed quickly.
6.What is Bigger s plan to get money from Mr. Dalton?
Bigger plans to disguise Mary s disappearance as a communist kidnapping. Following his
interrogations from Britten and how he pointed fingers at the communist party, Bigger decides to
forge a note that suggests that the Communists party kidnapped Mary Dalton. His plan backfires
after the Dalton s actually release Jan, believing that he would give them back their daughter in a
trade style, Jan for Mary. As Mary is dead, and Jan has no idea what is happening, Bigger starts to
fall apart as he sees his plans go to

Healthy Tacos Research Paper
Tacos are a delicious way to enjoy Mexican cuisine. They re quick, filling, and flavor packed. The
lightened recipe turned up the heat, but kept the calorie count low. This project was a good way to
start a fresh/new healthy lifestyle.
The process to make delicious healthy tacos was not very complicated. There were very few
bumps on the way but in the end, the meal was exquisite. First, I had to convince my parents to
take me to a local grocery store (also known as Coborns) to buy some of the ingredients. Some of
the ingredients were low price, but others were a pretty penny. Afterwards, when we got home, I got
to start the cooking right away. Other than burning the tomatoes, the process went pretty marvelous.
My mother had to help me grill the chicken and measure the amounts of ingredients it was needed
to make a meal for three. After the chicken, salsa, and guacamole was ready to serve, my parents
and I sat down at the table and served each plates.
Some elements that were challenging to make was the chicken and the salsa and finding the right
spices (especially for the chicken). One reason the chicken had its complications was because while
it was grilling, I had to check to see if the inside of the chicken was not raw and was fully cooked.

My generous parents insisted on paying for it all. Not only did they buy the items but my mom
helped me on the difficult steps of the recipe, like making the salsa. Some of the steps of making
the salsa we could not follow, only by reason of the salsa had to actually be spicy and so we just
went the traditional mexican way of making it. Our traditional salsa is spicy with a little twist.
We also added a little more flavor to the guacamole to make it flavored packed. It was a fantastic
time spending it with my mom and learning new and traditional ways of making flavorful food with

Pros Cons
CELLULAR NETWORKS
Pro s:
Cost:
Most wireline phone companies charge more than what you d pay for most alternatives, and some
are taxed more as well. There are some locations where getting new wired phone service is
prohibitively expensive or even impossible. Long Distance and extra features like Call Waiting are
normally included with alternative phones.
More Features:
Cellular and broadband phones normally include Long Distance, Voice Mail, Caller ID, Call
Forwarding and more, usually at no additional charge. They also have Text Messaging and various
forms of data service which are unavailable with a landline.
Portability:
If you move your home more than average (or if it s on wheels), your phone and your number can

It does work with some broadband phone systems. Your satellite service can still work without it,
but you will most likely pay an extra charge.
Reliability:
Wired telephone services have come as close to 100% reliable as is practical. Their network has
substantial power backup, redundant circuits and years to get it right. Alternatives are improving
but their networks can vary significantly. Cell sites and other communications nodes have a
limited amount of backup power. In an extended power outage, such as after a hurricane or
snowstorm, the service may not work, leaving you with no service. Corded phones work in power
failures. Cable phones also have a lower level of reliability.
Sound Quality:
Some alternative phones don t sound the same or as good as a landline. While your alternative
phone may sound fine to you, it may be difficult for others. Also, some broadband phone services
just dump their audio into the Internet resulting in widely varying data travel times giving you
significant sound delays.
Lack of Service:
You may be in a location where there are no wireless broadband alternatives or may have poor
cellular coverage. This might be rectified by adding a cell site to your home.
Broadband Speeds:
While there are some fairly fast wireless broadband connections, it may be some time before they
will compare to wired or cable connections.
Malfunctions:
Cell sites can stop working for various reasons. Repairs often need

The Legacy Of The Video Game Console
Greatness Awaits
The stage was set. After nearly seven years, Sony and Microsoft unveiled the next generation of
home video gaming consoles in 2013. Both gamers and developers buzzed with excitement. The
two biggest companies in the gaming industry had finally decided to upgrade the consoles they
offered to provide a more beautiful and enjoyable experience. And, just like every generation of
video game consoles, there were fierce competition in the gaming console market. Sony unveiled
the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One. Both of these consoles were going to be

Headlining the slogan This Is For The Players , the commercial is viewed through the eyes of a
passenger in a cab. This passenger, through the window sees an urban city filled with both regular
people as well as an eclectic cast of video game character. This juxtaposition creates a surreal world
that is full of adventure. As the commercial progresses, the intensity grows even more and the
world becomes even more surreal. The PlayStation 4 (Abbreviated as the PS4) is shown at the end
of the commercial, highlighting that this adventurous world can be accessed through the
PlayStation4.
Also in the commercial is a voiceover from a man who states the kinds of people that would love
to buy a PS4, using the same sentence structure. Every sentence uttered by the narrator begins
with This is for ... And at the end the narrator states This is PS4. Thus clarifying what This is.
The advertisement has a simple and direct message which is: The PS4 is made solely for the
players to play games and nothing more. The language used in the commercial is simple and
repetitive. According to Charles O Neil, the use of simple language is favorable to the advertisers
because a message that is easy to understand can be easily and quickly understood by the modern
people who have a limited attention span. (O Neil) Also apparent, is the subtle wordplay used in
the ad. For has the same phonetic sound as the number 4. Thereby, the ad associates the number 4

A Day At The Technology Student Association State Conference
The day my life flashed before my eyes started as though it was any other day at the Technology
Student Association State Conference. The day started out with anticipation and excitement for the
competitive events held that day. The only competitive event I was to participate in was the
Electrathon race, which was scheduled for later that afternoon. The Electrathon Race is an event
where we race student designed go kart sized vehicles that are powered by two twelve volt
batteries. The point of the race is to see how many laps you can go in one hour on one battery
charge. Even though I was not competing in an event that morning, I still had to dress in khaki
pants, a polo shirt, and closed toed loafers to enter and attended the conference sessions. Leaving
my hotelroom and stepping onto the elevator, I was ready for the day.
As I walked out of the revolving door of the Hilton I was excited but nervous for the events to
come that day. I crossed the street and headed into the Classic Center. Weaving through the
crowds of people I headed to the escalator to go down Grand Hall 8 to find my advisor. As I stepped
onto the escalator and headed down, my mind speed up and the nerves kicked in at full speed. I
stepped off the escalator and weaving through the crowd again to get to my destination. When I
arrived at Grand Hall 8, I found Mr. Morgan ,my advisor. He gave me keys to go check the trailer
for helmets.

Summary Of Claudia Macteer
Summary
Claudia MacTeer is an adult, telling us about certain events that took place in the fall of 1941.
She was a child back then, around nine years old, but she still remembered how the marigolds
didn t bloom that fall, and she and her sister thought it was probably because of their friend,
Pecola, was having her father s baby. She then tells us that Pecola s father, Cholly Breedlove and
the baby are dead.
Then there s the first season, a flashback, in Autumn in 1940, a year before the fall when no
marigolds were blooming. Claudia and her older sister, Frieda, have just started school. That
autumn the Macteers accepted Mr. Henry (Henry Washington) as a roomer because his rent would
help pay the bills and also because his former roommate was too addled to keep up. Then the family
soon after got another roomer, Pecola Breedlove, an eleven year old, dark skinned girl whom
county officials placed her there after her father burned the family s house down.
Pecola and the sisters then shared childhood adventures, and what Claudia remembers in particular
is the startling onset of Pecola s puberty when she unexpectedly first had her menstruation.
The second narrator then talked about the memories of Pecola s family. They described the house
where the Breedlove s lived (before Cholly burned it down), they were poor and they believed
they were ugly. They also pointed out the horrible relationship between Pecola s parents. Pecola
also has a fourteen year old brother, Sammy, who kept

Family Is Family
Family is the most important thing in the world.
This famous quote by princess Diana always clicks into my mind when I hear the word family..
Families do have to face quarrels and struggles in life but the most important thing is that they
have to face it with full strength and patience. These deep relationships carry lots of baggage and
hurt as well. All the people in this world have to face complexities and conundrums of familial
love . It once happened with me too . Sometimes these problem get into such big issues but
sometimes people get over it because of the close and inseparable bond that exists. No matter what
happens between them , the people in a family never drift apart. I sometimes wonder that there are
some lucky people who are the part of such type of families. ... Show more content on

achievement did not come without loss of life, as 148 have perished while trying to complete this
achievement.

Analysis Of Menagerie By John Williams
Looking at John Lahr s recent biography, he frames the history of Williams s life based on textual
readings of his plays. The notion that Williams s plays were heavily autobiographical is now a
generally accepted interpretation used to connect the disparate nature of his texts. As many
contemporary scholars do, Lahr reads Menagerie as biographical portraits of his mother and sister
when they lived in St. Louis, Streetcar drawing from his experience in New Orleans and his
tempestuous relationship with Pancho Rodriguez, Cat referencing Williams s uneasy relationship
with his father, and Suddenly Last Summer documenting both his experiences with therapy and his
sister s lobotomy: Throughout his life, Williams, who was the most... Show more content on

At the same time, it seems impossible to deny Menagerie was in some way based on Williams s
life; he drew from his experiences in St. Louis crafting Amanda after his mother Edwina and Laura
after his sister Rose. The use of his family members for models of this early work is undeniable.
However, the over emphasis of Williams s use of autobiographyhelps situate Menagerie as
naturalistic because Williams was drawing from real memories. While Williams was inspired by
his personal life in some regards, his contribution to literature was never a faithful reconstruction of
his personal history.
Williams was inspired by his personal life in some regards, but his additions to literature were
never a faithful reconstruction of personal history. Williams s brother Dakin recalls his mother
Edwina did not recognize herself as Amanda when she saw Menagerie:
Edwina went backstage to congratulate Laurette on her performance. The actress was sitting
with her feet up on the radiator, keeping warm. To quote Edwina: Before I had a chance to get
out a word, she greeted me: How did you like you seff, Miz Williams? I was so shocked I didn t
know what to say ... And even afterward, Edwina said, I am not Amanda. The only resemblance I
have to Amanda is that we both like jonquils.
Dakin also distinguished between their sister Rose and the character of Laura noted several

The Culper Spy Ring And The Revolutionary War
Intelligence provided by the Culper Spy Ring was instrumental in the defeat of the British during
the Revolutionary War. Picture this: Benedict Arnold, one of the United State s (U.S.) most

secondary effect of Arnold s treasonous act. The U.S. Army losing the Revolutionary War and
securing any chance of independence from King George III would be the third and final order of
effect. From 1778 to 1783 the Culper Ring identified key British movements, plans in New York
and surrounding areas, and fortifications of enemy forces. Together they used tradecraft practices to
gain intelligence; such practices included: code names, secret writing, enciphered communication,

Ancient Egyptian Perfume
Perfumes have been used for over 5,000 years. It is believed that the ancient Egyptian s were the
first to incorporate perfume into their culture. The Egyptians believed that the perfume was from
the sweat of their sun god, Ra. Originally perfume (fragrances) were made from a combination of
plant or animal products and rich oils. From Egypt perfumespread to other locations including
Rome and Greece. Perfume was also widely prized in ancient China and Iran, although the Chinese
used the scent in the form of an incense. Archaeologists have found evidence of perfume s use

Remnants of the perfumes were found inside an ancient 3,230 square foot (300 square meter)
factory was part of a larger industrial complex at Pyrgos. The buildings were destroyed during an
earthquake in 1850 B.C., but perfume bottles, mixing jugs, and stills were preserved under the
collapsed walls. (Roach, 2007).
Tapputi was the world s first recorded chemist mentioned in a cuneiform tablet from the 2nd
millennium BC as a perfume maker. She distilled flowers, oil, and calamus along with other
aromatics then filtered them and put them back in the still several times. Arabian chemists Al Kindi
and Jabir ibn Hayyan are credited with establishing the perfume industry. Jabir invented and
developed techniques used for distillation, evaporation and filtration. The real founder of the
perfume industry goes to Al Kindi though as he carried out extensive research and experiments
using plants and other sources to produce many varieties of scented products. He also wrote a book
on perfumes in the 9th century. It is the Book of the Chemistry of Perfume and Distillations and it
contains more than 100 different recipes for oils, salves, aromatic water and substitutes.
Although the Egyptians are given credit for the origin of perfume perfume slowly spread
throughout the world. It wasn t until 1190 that perfume began to be produced commercial in Paris.
France became the perfume capital of the world and it developed into a massive industry.

Artists Most Closely Associated with Snyder County, PA The artists that are today most closely associated with Snyder County are: The Reverend George Geistweite, Henry Young, and Francis Portzline. There are others like Frederick Kuster, Johann Conrad Trevits, Daniel Diefenbach, and Daniel Otto who probably never lived or worked within the geographical confines of what is today Snyder County, but were close enough to produce work for local families and influenced and were influenced by the works of others within this region. Also, some important artists from the area have never been identified and are known only because of their specific style or families for whom they created documents. The Union County Scrivener who seems to have worked entirely in what is today Snyder County, The Spigelmeyer Artist, and The Augusta Township Artist are just a few that fall into this latter category. Other artists produced works for local families, but often they fall into a group of itinerates who traveled about the state looking for families who wanted their Bibles brought up to date or documents created for a specific event. In the fall of 1977 Elizabeth Bryding Adams published an article on Henry Young in the Pennsylvania German Society journal, Der Reggeboge. The article included 152 of his recorded works and was used as the catalogue for an exhibition on Young at the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center in Williamsburg, Va. which was on view that same year. Bodybuilding Nutrition And Nutrition Bodybuilding Nutrition Bodybuilding is a sport where men and women s goal is to achieve a symmetrical and muscular physique with low body fat percentages, usually in order to win a competition. Many factors go into reaching these goals such as resistant training, genetics, mental will power and nutrition. While all of these factors are important to a bodybuilder, nutrition seems to be one of the most important, most researched and most tested and manipulated branch of the bodybuilders lifestyle. Specifically, the effects of protein on a bodybuilder, the ideal macronutrient ratios (carbs, fat, and protein) for fat loss and muscle maintenance. and nutrition s effect on resistance training recovery have been studies to further optimize a bodybuilders physique. The important yet controversial topic of optional protein intake has been a hot topic for years in many areas such as the needs for sedentary induvial, sports athletes, Olympic athletes and bodybuilders. However it is generally agreed upon that while the RDA standard of .75 .80 g/kg of body weight a day is enough to keep those with physical activities in there day to day life in a positive nitrogen balance, this is not the case for bodybuilders due to their goals of increasing muscle mass and intense training. (Masedu, Ziruolo, Valenti, Di Giulio, 2012) A more beneficial protein intake for bodybuilders should sit around 1.7 2.2 g/kg of body weight a day if the induvial wants to see optimal results with regards to ... • 6. Walmart Case Study Essay Why do you think Wal Mart did not venture abroad until 1991, despite its success in the USA? Ans. Until then they were happy enough simply to expand their business in US, after that reached a certain size and the company had the management time to spend on it then it was time to think about replicating that success abroad. Because the markets abroad are much more competitive than in America where it is a slayer of small businesses, except for fresh produce sellers. Globalization has taken off in recent years, before the turn of the century it was much more difficult and expensive for franchises to efficiently expand outside of their native country. Q2. How would you explain wal mart choice of countries during the early stages of international expansion in the 1990 s. Ans. Internationally, the retailer operates in Mexico, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, China, Korea, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Its expansion strategy internationally has been aggressive and powerful. The latest expansion strategy is for the company to gain entry into a nation by corporate takeover of a national retailer. Once the company is bought, Wal Mart converts the stores into Wal Mart stores. Three countries, all with no previous Wal Mart stores, became part of the corporation s international presence when domestic retail chains were overtaken. In 1994, Wal Mart bought 122 Woolco stores in Canada; today there are 196 units in Canada. In 1998 Wal Mart bought the Wertkauf store with 21 units, now there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After applying to the university of their choice, they are informed that they have not been admitted. Crushed and confused, they go on the university s website only to discover that the university is looking for people with a more diverse racial background. Standing in the way of their acceptance is a defective policy formally known as race based affirmative action. The whole concept came... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As affirmative action has become a simplistic strategy to decrease racial bigotry, it has developed into undermining the minority while producing favoritism. Additionally, the flawed policy has created preference within career fields and an academic mismatch among races. To eliminate this outdated system, financial based affirmative action would serve as a revolutionary law that would help those suffering in poverty without highlighting the color of an individual s skin. This elementary strategy is actually having the opposite effect of what its main purpose was to not discriminate against any race. Informally we call it reverse discrimination: colleges or employers will preferably pick minorities due to racial implications. In one university, this term is expressively used within the college admissions process. University of Michigan uses a point system to determine the chances of students getting into their school. The school admits students who receive 100 to 150 points from the university based on what criteria is met. The system gives out 20 points if you have enough of a diverse racial background; however, if you get a perfect SAT score, you only receive 12 points. 20% of the point system is based off of a student s race compared 12% which is based off a student s knowledge (Williams, 2001). • 11. Absurdity And Society Philosophy Research paper Extra credit Absurdity and Society According to Camus s philosophy of absurdity, a person is truly happy when he or she accepts that life is meaningless. For example, there is no fate, or anything past immediate experience. The hope of something better in the future is what keeps people happy, which raises a question; are people truly happy? If a person cannot be happy without finding meaning, then people must accept existence has no meaning beyond what each individual makes of it, and by accepting a meaningless fate; people can be truly aware and therefore happy. Religion is another form of hope. It is something to look forward to, beyond unpleasant worldly experiences. The majority of society in the world have a religion of some sort in order to create contentment and to disguise what Camus believes the world to be, an abyss of meaninglessness. Therefore, it is significant to consider: without religion, if life was truly meaningless, would it still be important to perform good deeds. It is also noteworthy for people to consider, if life has no meaning, is it still important to love, marry, look for adventure or opportunity? Camus s perception of absurdity can raise many questions that could transform the structure of modern society entirely. Firstly, it is practical to question if an absurdist would fit into modern society at all. To this inquiry, Camus answers that it is not so likely in his book The Stranger. In this book, the main character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Newton Gun Club Analysis In light of the racial injustice and police brutality happening across America, many in the Black community have been left wondering what can we do to fix this problem? While it s evident that the lack of support has left parts of the Black community in a weakened state, many communities have started to take matters into their own hands, forming gun clubs as a form of self protection. In the wake of the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown, a new gun club was formed in Dallas called the Huey P. Newton Gun Club (HPNGC). Its mission is to provide armed security to businesses in minority neighborhoods. History of Armed Resistance Armed resistance groups are nothing new. The attack took place between April 17th and 19th when an illegal and unauthorized person gained access to the personal account server and stole the information. A SQL injection attack involves the use of SQL statements written on the database layer of an application and is then run by the system to perform whatever statement was written there. This attack happened to be a form of SQL code that would take the information on the database and release it to the hacker. The other theory of how this occurred lies inside of a PlayStation 3 firmware build called Rebug , which turns the console into a developer kit used by game designers. With this feature active, it allows users to access parts of the PS3 s infrastructure that would not be normally available to the everyday consumer. What also came with this firmware update was the ability to access Sony s internal developer network. Additionally from there, hackers gained access to the internal secure network and could perform all kinds of hacks to trick the system. Sony may have not taken into consideration that their secure network could become a vulnerability to their servers. Short Essay On A Car A dozen years ago, I had this idea: a clear plastic enclosure and mounting brackets for your car so you could change bumper stickers whenever you wanted, and not end up wallpapering your trunk with all the important things you want to express. Yeah, I never went anywhere with that. But when an email about Talelight showed up in my inbox, I was immediately excited. The digital age had finally caught up with bumper stickers! It makes sense, of course, that display technology has advanced to the point where this could work. The process for getting stickers onto the device is easy, but not without some controls, again for safety. You can purchase stickers on Talelight s online store, or design your own if you have the graphics chops (which really isn t hard at all). You do have to go through a submit/approve process on their website so they can be careful about trademarked or obscene images, but that usually takes between 10 minutes and a couple hours, depending on the time of day. You can also put your own stickers up for sale in their sticker store as a way to generate revenue. Once you have stickers in your library on the Talelight website, you pick which ones you want on your device and schedule how they ll display. Then, just go start up your car (the device only runs when the car is on), open the Talelight app (iOS and Android), and sync. That s it! nd the device is pretty rugged. It s light enough that, with the provided mounting tape, it really stays put, even with some rough driving. The port where the USB power cable plugs in is tightly gasketed to prevent water intrusion; indeed, the Talelight folks claim it s designed to IP 65 waterproof standards. The bottom line for me is that this is a very cool gadget. Another example worth mentioning is participating in the city s post war celebrations. After the war ended, the father identifies how the community was celebrating the end of a war. The celebration involved confetti, firecrackers, men sweeping women off their feet, and lastly, music. Notably, the song emphasized in the celebration was called Stars and Stripes Forever. A high school band was playing this song loud and proud to demonstrate their patriotic dedication. The instrumental symbolizes the American flag and beliefs of the American traditions. After distinguishing how society celebrated their patriotic pride, this led to the father to come to the conclusion of what the teachers were discussing on how to represent an American and it was like to be free. Ever since being in the camps, the father felt conflicted on how to implement his Japanese culture along with his American culture. At the camp, he was taught American ideals to show his dedication towards their society. In the process, the father became conflicted on balancing two cultures and overall, led for his freedom to feel limited. Obtaining freedom signifies expressing oneself however they pleased. • 17. Analysis Of The Poem Reluctance In his poem Reluctance , he talks about being in denial and reluctantly carrying on as if the relationship will fix itself. The narrator uses nature to describe the state of his relationship, both longing for healing, but unwilling and unsure of how to go about it. The poem reads, The last lone aster is gone; The flowers of the witch hazel wither; The heart is still aching to seek, But the feet question Whither? (62) The aster flower represents the absence of love and patience. Witch hazel, meaning pliant or bendable, signifies that both parties in the relationship are unwilling to be flexible and understanding of each other s wants, needs, and desires. Their hearts are aching to seek, (62) but they are in denial of any possible way to make the relationship work. The relationship between the last lone aster , witch hazel , and the narrator connect the life and death cycle that is viewable in nature to his relationship. Frost recognizes that knowledge of nature and man s self knowledge were thus interdependent. (63) By understanding this, he can apply the wisdom to his relationship. A flower, as well as a relationship, need to be tended to or will begin the wither. Nevertheless, the life of the flower or relationship is never guaranteed. In love, one must remain flexible, knowing that even as a flower begins to wither , there may still be a way to bring it back to life. Elie had started to become accustomed to the fact that indifference would be what decides if he survived in the concentration camps or not. In the novel, Wiesel employs the motif of silence to illustrate that silence from the Jews represents the fear, apathy, and the absence of Godwhich results in them constantly feel hopeless and are mentally defeated. While the Jews in the camps are silent, this doesn t mean they ve nothing to say, but rather means they ve grown used to anything they say being in vain and they are too afraid to protest anything. This is evident in the module Texts in Time; as Blade Runner, having been written more than one hundred years after Frankenstein is still able to reflect the ideas proposed in the latter. Blade Runnerby Ridley Scott deals with the effects of globalisation and consumerism during 1980 s. Alternatively, the epistolary novel Frankensteinby Mary Shelley deals with the kinship to the natural world set in the Romantic Era and enlightenment period. However Blade Runner, although subjected by a different context, also portrays a similar idea to Frankenstein; the fear of science and technology coupled with the value of the definition of a human. Through this commonality, we are able to utilise the values of Blade Runner in order to truly understand Shelley s purpose. During the 1980 s, the increasing amount of industrialisation brought about a new period in time, the Industrial Revolution. Literally revolutionising the world, the Industrial Revolution changed the way the world was perceived, no longer an agricultural based society but instead one overrun with globalisation and consumerism. Scott portrays this in an overindulged manner, looking at the extreme effects to long time globalisation and consumerism. Like the season of Fall, the twilight of a day is a metaphor for the passing of time. Each new day can be seen as a life itself. Each morning and afternoon when the day is young is a life full of possibilities and opportunities. Then twilight approaches, and the day is done, only to be followed by sleep or as Shakespeare calls it, Death s second self . It sounded like there was a zoo behind me and the monkeys just got loose. Other people were looking at our car and in their face there was horror. My mom finally gets back and we start to drive. Sense we re going out of state on an airplane, we couldn t take our car with us. So we went to go pick up my mom s husband from work. He wasn t going to california with us so he could take the car. We pick him up, he chucks his lunch box to the middle, and he takes the wheel. We start driving, again. I ve never really liked my mom s husband, he s always hated me and one of my sisters because we aren t his. I really don t like anyone I live with. My mom loses things like our birth certificate, her driver s license, even her bills. I m so over it. My sisters, my sisters are little spoiled crybabies. When i was there age, I was hit so many times that the buckle of a belt feels like a pinch. I cried when I got kicked on the side. They cry if someone raises their voice at them the slightest bit. I m the smartest person in the house, so I m constantly angry because everyone comes to me when they need help. I help with things like homework, I translate for my mom and her husband, I never had help. I ve always been on my own, if I need help with something like homework, well that s too bad because if I don t know something they definitely won t. The Positive Impact Of The Juvenile Justice System The Juvenile Justice system (JJS) is not beneficial to the civilians in the community.Young adults that have committed indescribable crimes are being released back into the community for a second chance. This is endangering the lives of other innocent people and is definitely not helping the juvenile in anyway.Kevin C Framingham has a very strong opinion in which he is agreeing with the way the JJS is ran. Mr. Framingham wrote an article For Teen Ink about how rehabilitating young criminals is an amazing idea. The article is called Punishment or Rehabilitation? . He answered the question many people ask What is the true aim of our prison system? The answer he gave was Their most important function must be to rehabilitate criminals into society so prisons can have a positive effect on inmates .This should not be the goal in our JJS. As of now, the JJS is rehabilitating murders, molesters, sexual assaulters, ect. These dangerous criminals are released back into the world. This is putting men, women, and children in danger everyday ,yet the JJS still does it. • 38. Plato Vs. Aristotle On Observational And Deductive Reasoning Since the early sixth century, the questions of reality, matter, and change have perplexed philosophers. These questions have since become a major topic of inquiry amongst philosophers eventually garnering the attention of notable figures such as Plato and his pupil Aristotle. Although both Plato and Aristotle shared many similar notions of order and an eternal universe, their methods of inquisition as well as their theories of reality and truth vary significantly. This difference would eventually lead them to develop vary different notions of real knowledge. Plato primarily focusing on theoretical and mathematical proofs while Aristotle on observational and deductive reasoning primarily in the field of biology. Due to these stark differences in both men s philosophy, I will be contrasting both their beliefs, theories and methods, as it relates to knowledge, its acquisition and change. I will also be discussing my opinions as the importance of their individual philosophy as it relates to answering these questions. Although Plato and Aristotle both believed that logic and order governed the natural world, they disagreed on the nature of this design and thus their ideas of reality. Plato believed that all things in our world are innately imperfect. The thing we see are just crude representations of an abstract universal construct. Plato referred to this abstraction as the form which exists independently of all material things in the mind of some divine architect (the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Twelve years have passed since four coordinated terrorist bomb attacks occurred in central London on the 7th of July in 2005, conducted by four suicide bombers. Three of the attacks took place in London Underground trains, on the Circle line near Aldgate, on the Piccadilly line near Russel Square and at Edgware Road. The fourth bomb attack happened on a double decker bus in Tavistock Square. The attacks happened during busy rush hour and the was one hour between the three London Underground train attacks and the attack on the bus. Fifty two people were killed and more than 700 were injured in the attacks, the bomb attack being the worst terror attack in the UK since the 1988 Lockerbie bombing. This terrorist attack affected people severely physically, but most of all, emotionally. The results of a telephone survey done within the general population of London after the July 7th bombings, show that 55% of 1,010 participants felt their life was in danger from terrorism and 86% of the participants thought that another attack on London was likely in the near future (Greenberg, Rubin, Wessely, 2005). In the past decade, there have been an increased amount of terrorist attacks in Europe, such as terrorist attacks in Paris in November 2016 and in Manchester Arena in May 2017. As many contemporary scholars do, Lahr reads Menagerie as biographical portraits of his mother and sister when they lived in St. Louis, Streetcar drawing from his experience in New Orleans and his tempestuous relationship with Pancho Rodriguez, Cat referencing Williams s uneasy relationship with his father, and Suddenly Last Summer documenting both his experiences with therapy and his sister s lobotomy: Throughout his life, Williams, who was the most... However, the over emphasis of Williams s use of autobiographyhelps situate Menagerie as naturalistic because Williams was drawing from real memories.
