Does Cataract Cause Blindness In The World
Cataract is one of the leading causes of blindness in the world. While it is important to learn the
symptoms and other issues related to the disease, it is equally important to understand when a surgery
in required. Dr Somdutt Prasad (also known as Dr Som Prasad), one of the top ophthalmologists and
retinal specialists in the world, tells when a cataract surgery is required.
Surgery requirement
In the early stages of the disease, change in glasses might help. However, as the disease advances
vision is further distorted. When the condition further worsens, surgery is the only option. Your eye
doctor will recommend you about the surgery and its various other aspects. Surgical option is for those
who suffer from considerable loss of vision.

History And Safety Regulations Of Ancient Egyptian Women
Menstruation is a natural and necessary process that has been occurring since human beings can
remember. Because of this necessary process, forms of sanitary protection have been concocted to
meet the needs of women to care for themselves during their menstrual bleeding period. There have
been numerous approaches used by women from all over the world and over the years. Of the
numerous materials, used to collect and dispose of menstrual waste, two have remained most popular,
the pad and the tampon. While many might use, and be familiar with their use in their menstrual
hygiene, not much is known about what is put in or on them and the regulations surrounding them.
This paper hopes to shed a light on the history and safety regulations surrounding the popular
menstrual hygiene products pads and tampons. This papers hopes to answer whether these products
are safe.
Some of the earliest records we have concerning menstrual hygiene solutions are those of ancient
Egyptian women. Egyptian records, that date back to the 15th century B.C., reveal that women, often
wealthy, used internal plugs made from soft papyrus or wool. Poorer women, who might not have
been able to afford soft papyrus or wool were recorded to have used softened aquatic grasses (Farage
101). Their Greek counterparts, as written by Hippocrates, a famous ancient Greek physician, were
said to have created internal plugs as well from lint wrapped around a small piece of wood. The
ancient Romans, another civilized

English Figurative Language Summative Assessment Essay
This task is focused on the assessment components of two ELL students, Vicente Flores, and Mingyu
Wong. Vicente Flores is one grade level below his current grade. He does have a learning plan which
consists of a shortened test, oral answers, and using manipulatives, just to name a few. Mingyu Wong
has a shortened IEP which states she requires practice emphasizing critical information, using graphic
organizers, and pre teaching vocabulary. She is also one grade level below her current eighth grade
level.
Analysis of learning outcomes
The English figurative language summative assessment consisted of ten multiple choice questions.

Objective section analysis.
The objectives are that students will distinguish between literal and figurative language. The students
will also need to create examples of figurative language. Next, students need to identify seven types of
figurative language. The objective assessment showed that eighteen students passed, and twelve
students failed. Of those students who failed, two students were above grade level, eleven students are
at grade level, and five students were below level. As you can see, this data is far from 80% passing.
The average of the objective score was 74%. The range of the objective score was 50. As you can see,
the students didn t perform so well in this lesson.
The outliers on this assessment were that not all objectives were met in the lesson, or the assessment.
An objective was left out of the lesson but not in the objective section. Time was also a major factor of
this lesson. The lesson was jam packed with great curriculum, but it was too much considering the
audience and the assessment outcomes. Lastly, the major outlier is the three students who received a
100%, because more than half the class failed. Performance section analysis. In the performance
score, eighteen students failed, and twelve passed. Of the students that failed, six students were below
grade level, three students were above grade level, and nine students were at grade level. As you can

Quantitative Approaches To Managerial Decision Making
Running head: ROSS 1 ROSS 5 Ross Elisha Fuller Bethel University MOD 410 Quantitative
Approaches to Managerial Decision Making Professor Cavaness December 3, 2017 Introduction In
order to run a successful company, the company will need to understand how much is being spent and
how is the money being utilized. When a company creates a financial statement, it allows investors
and stockholders to determine the company worth and what direction the company maybe going. This
will also allow company to see if they are gaining or losing profits. In turn this will help companies to
make better decision for the company. Today we will look at the company Ross. I will create a
financial analysis project that will help my readers learn more about Ross. History of Ross Ross first
came on the seen in August of 1982. They bought out six department stores in the San Francisco Bay
area. A few years later in 1985 as matter of fact, Ross began to trade publically. After their first fiscal
year they reported making 534 million dollars. By this time, Ross had 121 stores in 16 states. Wanting
to focus on revamping management, the slowed down on open more stores. By the end of 1989 Ross
had 154 stores opened in 15 states. After this Ross tried to change strategy, which resulted in loss in
sales in the same stores that were once striving. By 1990 Ross went back to what made them sales in
the beginning. By the end of this year they made $804 million dollars. They

Racism In The Power Of One By Bryce Courtenay
Uniting the Divided
Racism can be a uniting and dividing factor; whether united in hatred or united in suffering. One may
believe they are justified in their actions, but that belief is biased to each person and is irrelevant to
others. Hatred can unite as strongly if not more so than fighting for good ; one s purpose in life is
unclear and because good is not in human nature, those blurred lines allow selfish people to rise and
lead among the rest. In The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay, cruelty functions as a method to
amplify racism, and in order to reach the power of one, one must lose all prejudice.
When there is cruelty and racism in one s mind, they are not only unable to accept themselves, but it
limits their ability to obtain the power of one. The power of one is that one person, and they alone, are
comfortable in a state of simply being; they have innermost awareness that allows infinite possibilities
for them because their outlook on life goes from within out into the world. Captain Smit is cruel in
nature, as well as more racist than most people today, but unlike characters like Borman, he sees those
of color as people; allowing Smit to be seen as a character that could possibly reach the power of one.
The reader is able to respect Smit later in the book because he learned, like other characters, that
racism is not productive or deserved and eventually used his cruelty to avenge Geel Piet s death. This
was completely justified, and could be argued as not

Economic and Social Change in Indonesia

century resulted in the greater integration of the region into the international economy. Six new states

social change in the region with reference to ONE Southeast Asian state. Economic and social change
within Indonesia Introduction After over a quarter century of sustained economic growth, Indonesia

of the crisis on economic and social change within the region. (Cameron 1999) The crisis, which

Not only has the economy grown rapidly over the last quarter century but there has also been dramatic
demographic and social change. Fertility rates have declined substantially and there have been
massive investments in human capital. This can be seen in secondary school enrollment rates which
have risen from a mere 6% in 1960 to more than 50% today; primary school enrollment is essentially
universal. (Poppele 1999) The investments are also reflected in the health of the population: at birth,
the average Indonesian today expects to live to the age of 61 which is 50% longer than he or she
expected 30 years ago. Thus, the labor force has not only grown dramatically in size but also in
quality. The consequences of these improvements are reflected in significant rising real wage levels
over the last three decades. (Smith 2002) Pride in its past economic achievements and optimism about
its future were suddenly challenged by the economic crisis which was accompanied by dramatic shifts
in the economic and political landscape of the country. As indicated in Figure 1, the rupiah came under
pressure in the last half of 1997 when the exchange rate began showing signs of weakness. After
falling by half from around 2,400 per US$ to about 4,800 per US$ by December 1997, the rupiah
collapsed in January 1998 when, over the course of just a few days, the exchange rate fell by 400% to
Rp16,000 per US$. Although

How Did Harriet Tubman End Slavery
Tubman: her life battle of ending slavery
If you hear the dogs keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If there s shouting
after you keep going. Don t ever stop. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going. Was once said by
Harriet Tubman. Harriet Tubman started out on a farm till she escaped and became free. During her
time as a free slavery she got slaves out of farm, rescued her family, served in the civil war ,and most
important the Underground Railroad. Harriet was involved in the civil war because of the underground
railroad.
Harriet was born into slavery around 1820 her real birthday is unknown but that is what historians
suspect. But in the late 1840s she successfully escape Dorchester County,Maryland and made her way
to Philadelphia. Tubman actually used the Underground Railroad to escape slavery. Her brothers
Harry and Ben went with her when she escaped but got scared and turned around but she did not.
When I found I had crossed that line, I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person. There was
such glory over everything; the sun came like gold through the trees, and over the fields, and I felt like
I was in heaven Harriet Tubman. After she escaped she she went back for her family. Her family first

Water Shortages and Desalinisation
The Problem: Water Shortages As the world continues to grow the need for fresh water continues to
rising. The current demand for water is ever increasing. In the many places in the world clean drinking
water is taken for granted. In other arid places in the world water is a scarce resource. Fresh water
sources around the world are being put under intense strains. Fossil water in aquifers are being over
pumped. In many cases aquifers may need thousands of years to replenish their reserves. The Ogallala
aquifers in the American Midwest is being over pumped at an unsustainable rate. Water from this
aquifer is used for irrigation of crops, that provide food for millions. Also, currently in the Middle East
wheat production is being slowed and stifled from the depletion of fossil water from over pumped
aquifers. Aquifers are not the only water resource under strain. Rivers are being over pumped for
irrigation in agriculture. Agriculture demand for fresh water is estimated to take up 70% of all fresh
water consumption. The best example for agriculture putting strain on a river is the Nile Valley. The
Nile River is the bread basket for approximately two hundred million people. Egypt, Sudan and
Ethiopia already us the majority of the fresh water that comes from the Nile. Over the next coming
century that demand will rise making the need for fresh water surpass the limits of the Nile. This will
inevitably lead to political strife between these counties. {Brown}

Jackie Robinson Impact On Society
A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives Jackie Robinson (Baseball Almanac).
Jackie Robinson s life accomplished more than impacting others, he impacted a nation. His humble
upbringing, strong will, and fight for equality is unmatched by any other. He was one of the first
African Americans to stand up for equal rights and broke through many barriers to allow others to
fight with him. His Hall of Fame career on the baseball diamond is only a small piece to Jackie s story
of struggle and hardship to reach equality. Born on January 31, 1919 Jack Roosevelt Robinson was the
youngest of five children. His father left the family before Jackie turned one and shortly after his mom
moved the family from Georgia to California in search of work (Contemporary Black Biography).
Segregation was still present in California, but was less harsh than in the south. To get away from the
problems and racial prejudice, Jackie turned to sports. He was an exceptional athlete excelling in
football, baseball, basketball, and track in both high school and college. He played four sports for the
University of California Los Angeles (commonly known as UCLA). He was mostly a football and
basketball star and had no intentions of playing Major League baseball due to the fact that it was all
white. Jackie had always wanted to become a social worker to help underprivileged boys and hoped
that travelling the nation for sports would expose him to a job in that field

Jewish-German Culture
An often suppressed topic of Jewish German culture is women and how successful Jewish females
have been in the photography industry. In class we discussed the suppression of all Jews as the
persecution of Jewish people became an active Nazi policy in 1933. Because of these hash fascist
policies, many Jews emigrated to nearby countries such as Russia, known then as the USSR. Many
Jewish German museums feature exhibitions that carry the theme of migration. I looked at many of
the websites for Jewish German museums to see the types of exhibits they featured; one which caught
my eye was the Vienna s Shooting Girls: Jewish Women Photographers at the museum in Vienna. This
exhibition was centered on the female photographers in exile and the end of this era for Vienna. It was
a featured exhibition from October 23rd 2012 to March 3rd 2013. Photography was an essential part
of Jewish German culture as it demonstrates a time in which women were celebrated. Secondly, the
featured artists of the exhibition were important influencers of life in the 1930 s when photography
had completely replaced drawings in magazines. Finally, it is a memory site of Jewish German ...

Biographical School Of Criticism In The Little Foxes By...
Throughout the their lifespans many authors receive criticism on every work of theirs, whether it be
good or bad. Criticism can be received from all sorts of people. Every literary work has the potential
to be broken down into multiple schools of thought, but when it is done professionally by a literary
critic the criticism is generally specialized into a certain school of philosophy. One particular work by
the author/playwright Lillian Hellman is The Little Foxes .
The Little Foxes can be characterized by the biographical school of criticism. The biographical school
of criticism is one where the criticism pertains to the fact that the author s work reflects his/her life
and the goal is to make connections between the author s life and what they had written about
(Revolvy). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Marxes and they had resided in Demopolis, Alabama. Hellman s great grandfather Isaac Marx, the
first Jewish settler of Demopolis, emigrated from Bavaria to west Alabama in 1844 (Gantt). Yet

Passing Essay
The Root of Jealousy
In Nella Larsen s Passing, Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry show us a great deal about race and
sexuality in the 1920s. Both are extremely light skinned women of African American descent.
However similar they appear to be, their views on race, a very controversial issue at the time, differ
significantly. Clare chooses to use her physical appearance as an advantage in America s racist and
sexist society, leaving behind everything that connects her to her African American identity. She
presents herself as an object of sexual desire, flaunting herself to gain attention. Irene is practically the
opposite, deciding that she wants to remain with the label of being black. She is subtle with her ...

When Irene finally realizes that this woman is Clare, someone who chooses to pass and hide all traces
of her black heritage, Irene s opinion of her changes. She no longer wants to be involved with Clare in
any way, and had no desire or intention of making the slightest effort about Tuesday. Nor any other
day for that matter. She was through with Clare Kendry. (p. 31) Irene is appalled that someone can so
easily throw away her background just for the sake of gaining privilege over another race. When Clare
asks her if she had ever thought of passing, Irene replies, No. Why should I? You see, Clare, I ve
everything I want. (p. 28) She is happy with what she has, not even having to give up anything to get
there. Or at least that s what she convinces herself to believe. Irene is again hypocritical in her beliefs.
Even when she opposes Clare s view of passing, she is still very interested in the idea. The truth was,
she was curious. There were things she wanted to ask Clare Kendry. She wished to find out about this
hazardous business of passing ... (p. 24) She even admitted that she held for her a fascination, strange
and compelling. (p. 28) Irene doesn t seem to be able to decide if she accepts passing as reasonable.
She forces herself to disagree with passing, allowing her to hate Clare for doing it. This shows us that
sexuality and race are two matters that conflict with each other, at least in Irene s opinion. She uses

Danny Saunders In Chaim Potok s The Chosen

not understand why his father does this, and is in constant torment because of it. In the neighborhood
where he lives there is an expressed tension between the different sects of Judaism, of which Hasidism
is thought to be an outcast even of them. Danny has a love and great talent for baseball, but sport is

Junipero Frances Mission Statement
Junipero Serra was essentially the founder of the mission system and he set much of the precedent as
to how the missions would run and treat the indigenous people. Serra s work on the missions had large
effects on the native people besides just spreading Christianity to the New World. More recently, Serra
s canonization has been a rather controversial topic due to the history surrounding his treatment of the
natives and the overall results of the missions. The Catholic Church is aware of this history and still
chose to make Junipero Serra a saint even with the protests by different Native American groups.
However, the Catholic Church feels they have good reason as to why Serra is considered a saint
regardless of these arguments. This is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned by PBS, He was notorious for his mortifications of the flesh: wearing heavy shirts with
sharp wires pointed inward, whipping himself to the point of bleeding, and using a candle to scar the
flesh of his chest (PBS.org). This shows how he used violence in his form of practice and when it
came to the natives, he had no problem treating them as he did himself. Mortifications of the flesh was
one principle he lived by and it became a part of the way the missions worked. Junipero Serra became
involved with the missions when the Jesuits were expelled from New Spain and Serra was chosen to
take over the missions. He had a complete new vision for the missions that included forcing the
natives to live on the mission and attend mass twice everyday. Women were to be separated from men
so that there would be no possibility of sin in the missions. Serra s ultimate goal for the missions was
to convert as many natives as possible because he believed in the power and greatness of his
religion(Castillo 55 70). In his lifetime, Serra founded nine missions and converted around 5,000
natives in present day California(PBS.org). Spain was more than pleased with Serra s work with the
missions because they felt it gave Spain control over Alta California. They encouraged the missions
and began sending more friars to aid in the process that Serra had created(Castillo 70 75). In addition

Essay about Ford Pinto
Ford Pinto Case
The humankind history has probably never known one completely successful product a product that
would never break down or malfunction. The ideal product is a myth because in reality, there has been
and always will be mistakes and flaws in the technology and production. When there are only a small
percentage of defective pieces, it is easy to blame the individual product. It is when there is repetitive
malfunction of the same system under the same conditions that people begin to ask the question.
(Birch, et. al. 21) Who is at fault? Is it the production line error? Is it the engineer who designed it, or
the person who developed the process? Ford Pinto is one of the examples of such repeated
malfunction of a product, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of such a rush in development, as well as such a strict limitation in weigh and cost, the
technology was substantially modified and the sequence of the events in the development cycle was
altered as well.
As per Dowie, in the normal development cycle of 43 months, the tooling which takes longest time to
accomplish of about 18 months, takes place when all other processes like design, styling, product
planning, advanced engineering, etc. have been finalized and approved. (3) Since there were only 25
month allocated to come with a model of Ford Pinto, tooling was going in parallel with the product
development. Another important aspect, as Dowie points out, was competition over trunk space which
dictated engineers to avoid designing a gas tank that would substantially reduce the trunk space.
Therefore, the designers decided not to use the Ford s patented safe saddle type tank which would be
positioned over the rear axle, but place the gas tank between a weak bumper and a rear axle. (4)
When crush tests revealed that the weakest part of Ford Pinto was the gas tank that would be
punctured by the bolts on the rear axle during the rear impact crash, there was no time to change the
tooling. Another obstacle for Ford Pinto s safety was negative position of the General Manager, Lee
Iacocca, on importance of the safety. He was known for saying . ..safety doesn t sell (Dowie, 5) and
that only meaning of that phrase was that he did not

Kirkham Instruments Case Analysis Essay
You will undoubtedly wish to add/subtract to this paper. I received a high grade on this but it was early
in the course and so less analyses were expected. Meaning, you will want to apply those course
concepts that suggest alternatives that actors in this case could choose, as relevant to where you are in
the course.
Kirkham had a strategy on paper, but it was too vague to help select which New Product Development
to fund/cancel. The Harvard professors presented tools to help structure these decisions, but division
leaders did not want to see their projects cut, so they criticized the list and delayed action, resulting in
no development or implementation of a strategy.

Kirkham Instruments needed to become more closely coordinated between each division with regards
to the design of new features and the market introduction of the products while also coordinating the
development of new equipment with the analytical software features desired by the customers
Kirkham s strategy was to integrate the different systems of each division into an all inclusive product
and also to involve all the divisions together with regards to product development, instead of letting
each division be responsible for just products within that division. Mr. Donaldson chose Kathleen
Quinn, Vice President of R D, to be responsible for coordinating the development of new products.
This proved to be quite a challenging task considering that each managing director (of each division)
still retained responsibility for the turnover and profitability of their respective decisions and also for
the strategies to achieve the goals of their divisions. In addition, regardless of the trend of their
customers in purchasing integrated systems, the majority of each division s turnover came from the
sale of stand alone products. Again, Mr. Donaldson was instrumental in developing a plan to move
forward. He had read a report of three Harvard Business School (HBS) professors who had been
studying the problems of managing new product development for nearly a decade and instructed Ms.
Quinn to invite them to conduct a seminar

has captured the hearts of audiences of all ages around the world for decades. In this piece, the

The Impact Of The Age Of Enlightenment
The Age of Enlightenment was an intellectual and scientific movement which is characterized by its
rational and scientific approach to religious, social, political, and economic issues. Enlightenment
ideals challenged the way people were taught to think and let them express their criticism of the
church, the monarchy or whatever system they saw as unjust. The impact of the enlightenment
movement was first seen in 18th century Europe and soon spread to different parts of the world.
People who believed in these ideals were called enlightenment thinkers. Enlightenment thinkers were
a voice for the masses who felt they were being manipulated by people holding all the power. It also
helped the masses realize that they did not need the church or monarchy, and enlightenment thinkers
were able to assemble a following to stop people of power taking advantage of those who were not
quite as powerful. Enlightenment thinkers gave an outlet to the common citizen who were seeing
injustices in their government system. Enlightenment ideals caused a domino effect. Throughout
history, we saw that the more the enlightenment ideals spread the more people stood up to their
oppressors. It first started with the Renaissance this was a time when interest in knowledge and
learning was reborn after the middle ages (Szalay). Then came The Protestant Reformation. The
Protestant Reformation was the religious, political, intellectual and cultural movement that spread

How Did Khrushchev Affect The Soviet Union
After the Death of the venerable Vladimir Lenin in January 1924 Joseph Stalin took his chance to

triumphs of World War II and the lows of the Great Purge. Unfortunately no man is truly a god and
Stalin passed suddenly in March 1953 at the hands of a cerebral hemorrhage. For years Nikita

Disasters Caused The World Since The Beginning
Calamities have plagued the world since the beginning. The twentieth century, no exception. Millions
lost their lives in World wars one and two, diseases spread like wild fire in foreign countries, and
poverty was striking the world. Isolated events bearing striking similarities to these were in no short
supply either. At this time, no event may have been worse than the sinking of the Titanic. The
European designed and manufactured luxury ship boasted a length of 883 feet and was described,
billed and sold as The unsinkable ship . This behemoth, massive ship weighed well over fifty thousand
tons and dominated the Atlantic for her maiden voyage. The Titanic, like many other entities of the
time, was not immune to calamity. Off the coast of the United States of America, the Titanic struck an
iceberg and sank to the bottom of the ocean. Claiming over one thousand lives, the wreckage of the
Titanic left few survivors. But, results of a new study indicate the Titanic may have a hidden secret,
one that was not intended for the world to find out; a secret flaw that may have decided the fate of
thousands in a minute. In the words of John F. Kennedy in the 1960 s regarding yet another calamity
of the era, a day that will live in infamy. The world the passengers of the titanic knew was a world of

poverty. The higher class were business owners and monopoly caretakers. While the poor

This was due to the fact that Edward believed the Bible was a source of knowledge and historical
truths. This meant that Hell was a real place; the boundaries of Christianity could not be debated; God
s power was huge and his wrath unforgiving; the time to repent was coming to an end and only God
put off the Last Judgment. The sermon relies on fire and brimstone imagery, long sentences, rhetoric,
repetition and the use of similes throughout the deliverance to deliver its message. During the sermon
he likens God s wrath to many things such as: Dreadful pit of glowing flames ; Like great waters that
are dammed for the present ; Black clouds of God s wrath, full of the dreadful storm, and big with
thunder ; The bow of God s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends
the arrow at your heart. He views God as merciless and unrelenting by saying that God will no longer
hold them up in these slippery places, but will let them go... Edwards uses tools such as predestination
to scare his listeners by saying They are already under a sentence of condemnation to hell. He
repetitively mentions the fact that it is only the power and mere pleasure of God that holds you up. His
use of long sentences that drag on and on, creating a mood of depression and frustration although he

because he believed that he didn t need to abide to the laws of the humans. Hera was often portrayed
as being spiteful and jealous towards Zeus, because of his constant infidelity. She often would seek

Zeus in ropes and plotted to dispose of him. When he eventually got free she hung her by her wrists

Question Nearly all of the reasons for agrarian discontent in the late 19th century stem from three
areas: land, transportation, and money. The farmers were fighting the perceived threats posed by
monopolies and trusts, railroads, and the demonetization of silver. The American farmer during this
period already had his fair share of problems which, compared to the success of the industrialized
businessmen, resulted in much of the animosity between the two groups. The fact of the matter was

As crop prices fell, farmers were forced to mortgage their lands and take out loans in order to grow
more and more crop just to break even. When these tactics were ultimately unsuccessful, the banks
closed in and quickly foreclosed on the farmers estates. These mass foreclosures led to a belief among
farmers that they were all slaves to their eastern masters and that only the freedom of unlimited silver
would release them from their shackles. One can see the argument from the farmer s side. The banks
gave out loans with exorbitant interest rates simply because they could. From 1865 to 1895, the
population had risen by close to eighty percent whereas the amount of currency in circulation had only
gone up by about sixty percent. With this deflation, the farmers were paying back double and triple the
amount of money that they had originally borrowed. With free coinage of silver, these loans would be
balanced and the farmers could suddenly afford their mortgages. This argument for silver was made
famous by William Jennings Bryan s Cross of Gold speech at the democratic nomination convention.
Bryan would not rest until the Crime of 1873 was rectified. McKinley however shows the counter
argument towards this radical inflation. Coining silver would be a temporary stay of execution for the
farmers. It would not make farming any more profitable, but would only cheat the banks out of money
that the farmers had agreed to pay them. The farmers were

Romeo And Juliet Tragedy Quotes
True Tragedy The parents sadly watch their children being carried into the family tomb. The play, by
William Shakespeare, displays the relationships of Romeo and Juliet. This drama takes place in
Verona, Italy, where the Capulets and Montagues are feuding. Poor relationships, deceit, and poor
advice leads to tragedy. The teenagers relationships with their families are soon tested. Juliet,
however, is resolute in her decision to die rather than enter into a false marriage: If all else fail, myself
have power to die (Shakespeare). This quote shows how young relationships are more powerful than
elders. Romeo and Juliet show how strong young relationships really are. They ended many feuds and
problems in their life because they don t have to worry about anything. When you are young, you don
t have bills to pay, a family to take care of, and most of the time no job. Romeo and Juliet has nothing
to worry about because they are young and free. This means their life is easy and stress free, and elder

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Have you ever known a person who smokes
and has a hard time doing every day activities, due to difficulty of breath, or constantly coughing. He
or she may have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD. COPD is a progressive and
treatable lung disease that causes shortness of breath due to obstruction of air way (COPD, 2013).
Progressive means that is gradually gets worse over time. It is a combination of chronic bronchitis and
emphysema (Causes,2014). Chronic bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchioles, which causes
mucus build up (Davis,2016). Emphysema is when the air sacs get enlarged (Smoking, 2016). Since
the disease does not have a cure yet it is important to know pathology (path of disease), epidemiology
(who is effected in a population), ethology (who is effected genetically), manifestation (symptoms),
treatment, and outcome.
First step preventing COPD is to know how it affects the body and the path taken; this is called the
pathology. In normal, healthy breathing a person breathes in air that is moves through the bronchial

elastic air sacs that control the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide to the body (Smoking,

Angel Gabriel Looks At Mariana And Not Mary
What is more interesting is that Angel Gabriel looks at Mariana and not Mary in the painting which
suggests a hope, she wants her love to be consummated, a Gabriel to come to her and inform her but it
intensifies the pathos even further. Mary which in Hebrew means uncertainty, as she was uncertain
whether she would be able to conceive until Gabriel arrived but Mary (uncertainty) + Ann (graceful)
leads us to Mariana who is gracefully expecting even though she is uncertain about her destiny. The
heraldry depicts snowdrop which represents consolation, according to floral symbolism. However, it is
the flower associated with the ritual of St. Agnes Eve, when adolescent girls hope for visionary
glimpses of prospective husbands. These meta representations projects the mental state of the subject
sometimes through contrast and irony as well. We see an altar, a private devotional space so we have a
sense of her life being taken up between prayer and meditation which in turn accentuates the theme of
longing. The metallic objects add to the visual irony as a church like atmosphere of marriage is being
created in Mariana s room which is never possible. Mariana still wears a waistband which can
symbolise her hopes of conjugal bliss which is clearly visible against the deep hue of her dress. The
presence of the only animal in the painting, that is the mouse, who seems to be her ironic companion
and in terms of materiality it is equated with Mariana s secluded existence. The

Gas Engines Vs. Diesel Engines
Gas engines versus diesel engines has got to be one of the biggest controversial topics in the
automotive world. People have been arguing which is better for years upon years, and it is time to
finally come to a conclusion. Anyone can probably notice that in almost every family there is a certain
vehicle preference based off of the engine that runs them, but the term vehicle is extremely broad. To
be more specific, especially in the southern part of the United States, those families have specific
truck engines that they prefer. Either a person drives a truck for work or they drive a truck because
they love them. Either way, nearly everyone in most of the United States has at least one truck in their
family because they are just simply work horses. It s also a huge part of the culture in the south to
have a truck. Just about every boy and even a lot of girls want their first vehicle to be a truck. A
pickup is one of the most reliable tools someone can own. Nearly every pickup enthusiast or working
individual needs a gas or diesel truck, and the better choice is a diesel truck. The initial cost of a diesel
truck can be daunting for someone looking for a new truck to think about especially when compared
to a gas truck. On Ford.com a F 250 XL is $32,535 and a F 150 XL is $26,540. Now what some
people will probably say if they heard that is You re comparing two different sizes of engines! yes that
is true, but most people only consider Ford F 250s in the diesel engine

Nozick s The Experience Machine
Awash in happiness, a life devoid of strife, where every endeavor is enjoyable and whose achievement
is the highest order of pleasures with no quarter for pain. According to hedonism, this would be the
perfect state of well being and who, at the face of it, could disagree with them? Many have, not so
much with the utopia presented but with hedonism s terms for such a perfected welfare. Perhaps the
most famous of these detractors was Harvard philosopher Robert Nozick when he took this concept of
an idealized life and put it in a box with his thought experiment, The Experience Machine. However,
given a description of hedonism and Nozick s compellingly illustrative refutation, an apparent out for
the hedonist can be found.
Tracing its origins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, it would be reasonable to assume that an educated hedonist would search for those
experiences that would expand, in depth and scoop, the quality factor of his happiness. As Mill stated
It would be absurd, that while, in estimating all other things, quality is considered as well as quantity,
the estimation of pleasures should be supposed to depend on quantity alone (Shafer Landau, EL 19). It
is equally plausible that he, with in this pursuit, would find joy and new breadth of pleasure in the
happy surprises inherent in a world of billions of potential innovators. That he hold this phenomenon
as an inseparable source of both the quantity and quality of his present and future pleasures. Thus, an
educated hedonist would realize, understanding that unless programed with not only the summation of
past but also future human interactions and innovations, the machine could never equate a quality nor
quantity of happiness greater than his current grasp of it. Justifiably, he would remain right to his
theory to smile as he turn heeled away from the machine, choosing to swim in an ocean of potential
pleasure over wading in the pond of his limited experience. In this light Nozick s device would be
better suited as hedonistic tool to separate the would be from the true hedonist, to separate the wheat
from the chaff, as it

The current paper will explore the history and future of personality in social psychology, and how the
integration of these fields show more similarities than differences.
Personality Psychology Funder (2006) defines personality as a person s pattern of thought, emotion,
and behavior, with psychological mechanisms and underpinnings. Studying personality within the
field of social psychology makes logical senses. While the study of personality psychology seeks to
determine the various ways that people differ from one another, and figure out individuals from the
inside out, personality within social psychology seeks to figure out individuals from the inside out in
varying contexts. Personality psychologists deal with one main challenge there are so many facets to
one s personality that it is hard to view one s personality within one single lens. Therefore, before
exploring personality within the context of social realms, it is important to view the many facets and
approaches to examining personality and its variations.
Psychanalysis is perhaps one of the most individualist lenses to viewing personality, and has to do
with understanding one s hidden, unconscious, and more dark urges as the means to conceptualizing
one s personality. Further, psychoanalysis examines a more abstract look into what factors make us
who we are, such as the unconscious, dreams, defense mechanisms, our egos, attachment, and sexual
urges

X-Ray Technician Application
In my 30 plus years in the X ray profession, I have performed thousands of X ray examinations. The
technology and its contribution to patient care still fascinate me. X rays or radiography, as it is known
in medicine allow for looking inside a body and identifying everything from broken bones to
swallowed objects. The tool is vital to the ability to diagnose and treat injuries. Radiologic technology
encompasses a wide spectrum of specialties, from radiographers (who produce 3 D and 2 D images of
bones, organs and vessels) to radiation therapists (who administer customized forms of radiation to
treat cancer and other diseases). After working at several Columbus area hospitals, I became a
radiologic technology professor and now work with students at the University of Cincinnati. My

While traveling during the summer, I experienced severe abdominal pain and went to the emergency
room of a St. Louis hospital. The physician ordered a CT (computed tomography) scan of my chest,
abdomen and pelvis. Four large tumors were found in my uterus. When I returned home to Pickaway
County, I underwent additional imaging exams so the medical team could get a clear look at the
growths. I had an ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist
Hospital. Based on the results of those tests, I was scheduled for surgery in early September. I was
extremely frightened, of course, because I didn t know whether the tumors were cancerous nor did I
know what to expect. The role reversal felt strange. After having spent more than three decades taking
X rays and preparing students to enter the profession, I was suddenly relying on the expertise of other
radiologic technologists. And I looked to them for guidance and comfort, as I was in a place I hadn t

Introduction/Purpose The facility I visited was called De Palma Terrance and it was located in
Placentia, California. De Palma Terrance is a facility that has been providing senior care for seniors
for over 25 years in Orange County. De Palma Terrance does offer senior living within the complex
for those who desire it, but it is also a senior center where seniors around the community can freely
visit and attend health classes. The class I attended is called Health/Wellness Trivia and is part of the
Older Adults Program (OAP). OAP is one of the programs that is under of the Lifeskills Education
Advancement Program (LEAP), which is part of the North Orange County Community College
District. The class was one hour long and was lead by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The class consisted of mainly strength training, long periods of stretching and short cardio. It was
essential that the activities was mainly concentrated on increasing leg strength and improving balance.
Strengthen the bones will help build bone thickness and help lessen the danger of breaks/fractures.
Balance, coordination and mobility will help older adults from falling. Older adults are at high risk of
falling and this can cause serious injuries such as hip fractures, head traumas and even death. The
class also helped older adults educate themselves on preventive strategies from falling as well.
Major Health Components Covered In Class The two major health components covered in this class
was physical health and social health. Physical health refers to the way that the body function. This
definitely consist of regular exercise. Since the class was mainly consisted of strength training
exercises, it gave older adults strength and energy. This can play a major role in preventing some
illnesses. Social health is the quality of one s relationship with his/her friends and family. I feel like
the instructor was also trying to get older adults to work together during the exercises. I saw older
adults helping each other out when it came to stretching. This would be a good class for older adults to
attend if they wanted to meet new people. The

Racism In Patricia Williams The Emperor s New Clothes
Race and the different racial characteristics have been the main topic of many debates all over the
United States and has been for a long time. The topic of race continues to stay relevant because of the
way race is regarded. In the expert from Patricia Williams The Emperor s New Clothes she establishes
multiple reasons on why and how racism is viewed in today s day and time.
Williams makes very strong points and claims within the excerpt however one her most recognizable
ones is on page 10 the first paragraph and last sentence Williams states The noisy, racial chasm still
yawn darkly beneath us all, but we few brave souls glide gingerly above, upon a skim of hope, our
bodies made light with denial, the black pond so dangerously and thinly iced with the conviction that
talking about it will only make things worse. Williams claim in this is clear: not talking about racism
will only continue to add to the fire which will only make the situation worse. Not talking about
racism is letting a pot stir and allowing racism to grow beneath our noses. When we don t speak on
racism it slows down the process of us advancing as a world. Many white people were taught that
talking about racism is racist so they tend to shy away conversations that evolve around race without
knowing they are involuntary apart of the problem by refusing to recognize the issue.
Williams starts off by using her son as an example on how race is disregarded. Williams talks about
how multiple white teachers

Peer Pressure Inventory (PPI), Feelings About School Instrument (FAS1), and Rutgers Alcohol

questions (11 20) were negative questions. If the student answered true to positive items, they were
given a coded score of +1, while a score of zero was given for answering false to a positive question.
The reverse was also true; if the respondent answer false to a negative question, a score of +1 was
given and if true to a negative item, zero was given instead. The score ranged from zero to as high as
forty. Low scores ranged from 0 19; while, high scores ranged from 20 40. The higher the score, the
more positive was the students attitudes towards school; while, a lower score implied that they were

Examples Of Obsession In Land Of The Lost
Without obsession, life is little to nothing. However, when the obsession begins to take a hold of one s
life and becomes a ritual that has to be done on a regular basis, in addition to undertake the procedure
of stripping one´s life of everything unrelated to the obsession. This is where the obsession it starts to
get out of hand. Such an obsession plays a major role in the short story Land of the Lost written by
Stewart O´Nan, where the reader follows a lonely woman, who has nothing else to preoccupy herself
with but to attempt to solve the mystery of where a murderer buried a dead girl.
In Stewart O´Nan s short story Land of the Lost the reader is introduced to a woman who works as a
cashier at BI LO, a shop of some sorts. The reader is given next to noting regarding background
information about this woman, the reader does not even know of her name. The reader gets the feeling
that the woman is a healthy and ordinary person. However shortly after the start of the short story the
woman learns about the case of a missing girl, which immediately grabs her attention, she starts to
discuss the case with her customers and colleagues to the extent that she is told to stop by her
manager. Further on into the story it becomes obvious that what started as a mere interest has turned
into an obsession, which quickly takes a hold of the woman s life, the story says; At night when she

Virtue Ethics Of Prenatal Gene Manipulation
A second ethical theory that may be used to analyze the moralities of prenatal gene manipulation is
virtue ethics. Can virtue ethics answer the moral questions raised by the development of the
technology of prenatal gene manipulation? An article in the BBC Ethics guide website helps to
describe virtue ethics very precisely. Virtue ethics (VE), according to the BBC ethics guide, is not
based on action. It is rather a person based ethical theory that views the character of an individual
carrying out an action and their morals. In addition to dealing with whether an action is right or
wrong, it also sets out a guideline for the type of actions and features a qualities a virtuous individual
might possess. Therefore, in this specific scenario VE ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gardiner (2011) does not consider it a wise decision to separate the process of attitude and just focus
solely on reason since humans usually make decisions that are somewhat affected by the emotions.
And virtue ethics realizes that and incorporates that emotional component into its ethical theory.
Beauchamp and Childress addresses five important virtues that are most likely pertinent to the medical
practitioner which is conscientiousness, trustworthiness, discernment, compassion and integrity. If
these five values are taken into account when making decisions about prenatal gene manipulation the
questions may seem less complicated to answer. A trustworthy medical practitioner with integrity and
compassion would want his patient to have the best chance at survival almost like a parent would. The
decision made then probably would be to employ the technology only if it reliable enough to produce
a result beneficial to the patient, in this case the embryo. If the technology is not developed enough, or
is too risky a virtuous medical practitioner would not take the risk of harming the patient. It would
probably be more virtuous to not use the technology that cannot be trusted and has too many variables
associated with it. A virtuous decision would be to continue development of the technique using non
viable embryos which has been done before. And only when the technology has reached a certain
threshold of accuracy and precision in being able to deliver what is intended can it be used to treat real
embryos. To answer the final question, if non viable embryos are being used to develop a system that
might help viable embryos then the value of life is still kept intact and in fact is raised since a
successful application of this advanced technology would actually enhance the quality of life of a
person who otherwise would have gone through a lot of pain and

Tombstone Massacre Essay
I m going to talk about what happened that day of death in Tombstone, Arizona. And what really
happened to end up in a massacre in a little town in Arizona. The shootout is famous for the Mclaury
gang and the Earp brothers ending a feud in bullets and blood. What people don t believe is that Wyatt
Earp was scared to kill a man as a child. So I m going to talk about the beginning, way before the
feud.
Wyatt was born March 19, 1848 in a small town in Illinois called Monmouth. He was the third born
son out of five from Nicholas and Virginia Earp. Wyatt was never fond of being around the house. He
was caught time after time trying to run off and fight the civil war with his brothers Virgil and James.

Wyatt was informed that Ike, Billy Clanton and Tom, Frank Mclaury and Wes Fuller were causing a
commotion at the end of town. Wyatt got together Virgil, Morgan, and Doc together to go end the
violence that the gang has created. The Earps and Doc were not expecting there to be a gun fight, as
both Wyatt and Virgil had their guns put in the back holster and pushed to the side, as if they were not
going to be used. When the Earps first get to the men Virgil noticed that all them were armed and
ready to fight. Both Wyatt and Virgil yelled at the men to drop their weapons. The thing that s the
biggest mystery still today is who took the first shot. What the men say is that two shots went off at
the same time. One was from Billy Clanton at Wyatt Earp, and the other shot was Wyatt s shot at

  • 3. History And Safety Regulations Of Ancient Egyptian Women Menstruation is a natural and necessary process that has been occurring since human beings can remember. Because of this necessary process, forms of sanitary protection have been concocted to meet the needs of women to care for themselves during their menstrual bleeding period. There have been numerous approaches used by women from all over the world and over the years. Of the numerous materials, used to collect and dispose of menstrual waste, two have remained most popular, the pad and the tampon. While many might use, and be familiar with their use in their menstrual hygiene, not much is known about what is put in or on them and the regulations surrounding them. This paper hopes to shed a light on the history and safety regulations surrounding the popular menstrual hygiene products pads and tampons. This papers hopes to answer whether these products are safe. Some of the earliest records we have concerning menstrual hygiene solutions are those of ancient Egyptian women. Egyptian records, that date back to the 15th century B.C., reveal that women, often wealthy, used internal plugs made from soft papyrus or wool. Poorer women, who might not have been able to afford soft papyrus or wool were recorded to have used softened aquatic grasses (Farage 101). Their Greek counterparts, as written by Hippocrates, a famous ancient Greek physician, were said to have created internal plugs as well from lint wrapped around a small piece of wood. Mingyu Wong has a shortened IEP which states she requires practice emphasizing critical information, using graphic organizers, and pre teaching vocabulary. She is also one grade level below her current eighth grade level. Analysis of learning outcomes The English figurative language summative assessment consisted of ten multiple choice questions. The objectives are that students will distinguish between literal and figurative language. The students will also need to create examples of figurative language. Next, students need to identify seven types of figurative language. The objective assessment showed that eighteen students passed, and twelve students failed. Of those students who failed, two students were above grade level, eleven students are at grade level, and five students were below level. As you can see, this data is far from 80% passing. The average of the objective score was 74%. The range of the objective score was 50. As you can see, the students didn t perform so well in this lesson. The outliers on this assessment were that not all objectives were met in the lesson, or the assessment. An objective was left out of the lesson but not in the objective section. Time was also a major factor of this lesson. The lesson was jam packed with great curriculum, but it was too much considering the audience and the assessment outcomes. Lastly, the major outlier is the three students who received a 100%, because more than half the class failed. Performance section analysis. In the performance score, eighteen students failed, and twelve passed. Of the students that failed, six students were below grade level, three students were above grade level, and nine students were at grade level. As you can see, this data is far from ... • 7. Racism In The Power Of One By Bryce Courtenay Uniting the Divided Racism can be a uniting and dividing factor; whether united in hatred or united in suffering. One may believe they are justified in their actions, but that belief is biased to each person and is irrelevant to others. Hatred can unite as strongly if not more so than fighting for good ; one s purpose in life is unclear and because good is not in human nature, those blurred lines allow selfish people to rise and lead among the rest. In The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay, cruelty functions as a method to amplify racism, and in order to reach the power of one, one must lose all prejudice. When there is cruelty and racism in one s mind, they are not only unable to accept themselves, but it limits their ability to obtain the power of one. The power of one is that one person, and they alone, are comfortable in a state of simply being; they have innermost awareness that allows infinite possibilities for them because their outlook on life goes from within out into the world. Captain Smit is cruel in nature, as well as more racist than most people today, but unlike characters like Borman, he sees those of color as people; allowing Smit to be seen as a character that could possibly reach the power of one. The reader is able to respect Smit later in the book because he learned, like other characters, that racism is not productive or deserved and eventually used his cruelty to avenge Geel Piet s death. This was completely justified, and could be argued as not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Six new states emerged Indonesia, Malaya, Burma, the Philippines, Indochina and Thailand. Discuss economic and social change in the region with reference to ONE Southeast Asian state. Economic and social change within Indonesia Introduction After over a quarter century of sustained economic growth, Indonesia was struck by a major economic crisis at the end of the 20th Century. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only has the economy grown rapidly over the last quarter century but there has also been dramatic demographic and social change. Fertility rates have declined substantially and there have been massive investments in human capital. This can be seen in secondary school enrollment rates which have risen from a mere 6% in 1960 to more than 50% today; primary school enrollment is essentially universal. (Poppele 1999) The investments are also reflected in the health of the population: at birth, the average Indonesian today expects to live to the age of 61 which is 50% longer than he or she expected 30 years ago. Thus, the labor force has not only grown dramatically in size but also in quality. The consequences of these improvements are reflected in significant rising real wage levels over the last three decades. (Smith 2002) Pride in its past economic achievements and optimism about its future were suddenly challenged by the economic crisis which was accompanied by dramatic shifts in the economic and political landscape of the country. As indicated in Figure 1, the rupiah came under pressure in the last half of 1997 when the exchange rate began showing signs of weakness. After falling by half from around 2,400 per US$ to about 4,800 per US$ by December 1997, the rupiah collapsed in January 1998 when, over the course of just a few days, the exchange rate fell by 400% to Rp16,000 per US$. Harriet was involved in the civil war because of the underground railroad. Harriet was born into slavery around 1820 her real birthday is unknown but that is what historians suspect. But in the late 1840s she successfully escape Dorchester County,Maryland and made her way to Philadelphia. Tubman actually used the Underground Railroad to escape slavery. Her brothers Harry and Ben went with her when she escaped but got scared and turned around but she did not. When I found I had crossed that line, I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person. There was such glory over everything; the sun came like gold through the trees, and over the fields, and I felt like I was in heaven Harriet Tubman. In the many places in the world clean drinking water is taken for granted. In other arid places in the world water is a scarce resource. Fresh water sources around the world are being put under intense strains. Fossil water in aquifers are being over pumped. In many cases aquifers may need thousands of years to replenish their reserves. The Ogallala aquifers in the American Midwest is being over pumped at an unsustainable rate. Water from this aquifer is used for irrigation of crops, that provide food for millions. Also, currently in the Middle East wheat production is being slowed and stifled from the depletion of fossil water from over pumped aquifers. Aquifers are not the only water resource under strain. Rivers are being over pumped for irrigation in agriculture. Agriculture demand for fresh water is estimated to take up 70% of all fresh water consumption. The best example for agriculture putting strain on a river is the Nile Valley. The Nile River is the bread basket for approximately two hundred million people. Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia already us the majority of the fresh water that comes from the Nile. Over the next coming century that demand will rise making the need for fresh water surpass the limits of the Nile. This will inevitably lead to political strife between these counties. {Brown} ... Jackie Robinson s life accomplished more than impacting others, he impacted a nation. His humble upbringing, strong will, and fight for equality is unmatched by any other. He was one of the first African Americans to stand up for equal rights and broke through many barriers to allow others to fight with him. His Hall of Fame career on the baseball diamond is only a small piece to Jackie s story of struggle and hardship to reach equality. Born on January 31, 1919 Jack Roosevelt Robinson was the youngest of five children. His father left the family before Jackie turned one and shortly after his mom moved the family from Georgia to California in search of work (Contemporary Black Biography). Segregation was still present in California, but was less harsh than in the south. To get away from the problems and racial prejudice, Jackie turned to sports. He was an exceptional athlete excelling in football, baseball, basketball, and track in both high school and college. He played four sports for the University of California Los Angeles (commonly known as UCLA). • 16. Jewish-German Culture An often suppressed topic of Jewish German culture is women and how successful Jewish females have been in the photography industry. In class we discussed the suppression of all Jews as the persecution of Jewish people became an active Nazi policy in 1933. Because of these hash fascist policies, many Jews emigrated to nearby countries such as Russia, known then as the USSR. Many Jewish German museums feature exhibitions that carry the theme of migration. I looked at many of the websites for Jewish German museums to see the types of exhibits they featured; one which caught my eye was the Vienna s Shooting Girls: Jewish Women Photographers at the museum in Vienna. This exhibition was centered on the female photographers in exile and the end of this era for Vienna. It was a featured exhibition from October 23rd 2012 to March 3rd 2013. Photography was an essential part of Jewish German culture as it demonstrates a time in which women were celebrated. (3) Since there were only 25 month allocated to come with a model of Ford Pinto, tooling was going in parallel with the product development. Therefore, the designers decided not to use the Ford s patented safe saddle type tank which would be positioned over the rear axle, but place the gas tank between a weak bumper and a rear axle. During the sermon he likens God s wrath to many things such as: Dreadful pit of glowing flames ; Like great waters that are dammed for the present ; Black clouds of God s wrath, full of the dreadful storm, and big with thunder ; The bow of God s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart. He views God as merciless and unrelenting by saying that God will no longer hold them up in these slippery places, but will let them go... Edwards uses tools such as predestination to scare his listeners by saying They are already under a sentence of condemnation to hell. He repetitively mentions the fact that it is only the power and mere pleasure of God that holds you up. The farmers were fighting the perceived threats posed by monopolies and trusts, railroads, and the demonetization of silver. The American farmer during this period already had his fair share of problems which, compared to the success of the industrialized businessmen, resulted in much of the animosity between the two groups. The fact of the matter was farmers had entered a viscous cycle. Wheat and cotton, once the staples of American agriculture were selling at such low prices that it was almost impossible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As crop prices fell, farmers were forced to mortgage their lands and take out loans in order to grow more and more crop just to break even. When these tactics were ultimately unsuccessful, the banks closed in and quickly foreclosed on the farmers estates. These mass foreclosures led to a belief among farmers that they were all slaves to their eastern masters and that only the freedom of unlimited silver would release them from their shackles. One can see the argument from the farmer s side. The banks gave out loans with exorbitant interest rates simply because they could. From 1865 to 1895, the population had risen by close to eighty percent whereas the amount of currency in circulation had only gone up by about sixty percent. With this deflation, the farmers were paying back double and triple the amount of money that they had originally borrowed. With free coinage of silver, these loans would be balanced and the farmers could suddenly afford their mortgages. This argument for silver was made famous by William Jennings Bryan s Cross of Gold speech at the democratic nomination convention. Bryan would not rest until the Crime of 1873 was rectified. McKinley however shows the counter argument towards this radical inflation. Coining silver would be a temporary stay of execution for the farmers. It would not make farming any more profitable, but would only cheat the banks out of money that the farmers had agreed to pay them. The farmers were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Have you ever known a person who smokes and has a hard time doing every day activities, due to difficulty of breath, or constantly coughing. He or she may have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD. COPD is a progressive and treatable lung disease that causes shortness of breath due to obstruction of air way (COPD, 2013). Progressive means that is gradually gets worse over time. It is a combination of chronic bronchitis and emphysema (Causes,2014). Chronic bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchioles, which causes mucus build up (Davis,2016). Emphysema is when the air sacs get enlarged (Smoking, 2016). Since the disease does not have a cure yet it is important to know pathology (path of disease), epidemiology (who is effected in a population), ethology (who is effected genetically), manifestation (symptoms), treatment, and outcome. First step preventing COPD is to know how it affects the body and the path taken; this is called the pathology. In normal, healthy breathing a person breathes in air that is moves through the bronchial tubes to the bronchioles. At the end of the bronchioles there are air sacs called alveoli. The alveoli are elastic air sacs that control the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide to the body (Smoking, 2016). The alveoli consist of elastic tissue so when a person breaths in the the alveoli can expand and when the carbon dioxide is released it can deflate and return to it s normal size. ... Angel Gabriel Looks At Mariana And Not Mary What is more interesting is that Angel Gabriel looks at Mariana and not Mary in the painting which suggests a hope, she wants her love to be consummated, a Gabriel to come to her and inform her but it intensifies the pathos even further. Mary which in Hebrew means uncertainty, as she was uncertain whether she would be able to conceive until Gabriel arrived but Mary (uncertainty) + Ann (graceful) leads us to Mariana who is gracefully expecting even though she is uncertain about her destiny. The heraldry depicts snowdrop which represents consolation, according to floral symbolism. However, it is the flower associated with the ritual of St. Agnes Eve, when adolescent girls hope for visionary glimpses of prospective husbands. These meta representations projects the mental state of the subject sometimes through contrast and irony as well. We see an altar, a private devotional space so we have a sense of her life being taken up between prayer and meditation which in turn accentuates the theme of longing. The metallic objects add to the visual irony as a church like atmosphere of marriage is being created in Mariana s room which is never possible. Mariana still wears a waistband which can symbolise her hopes of conjugal bliss which is clearly visible against the deep hue of her dress. Anyone can probably notice that in almost every family there is a certain vehicle preference based off of the engine that runs them, but the term vehicle is extremely broad. To be more specific, especially in the southern part of the United States, those families have specific truck engines that they prefer. Either a person drives a truck for work or they drive a truck because they love them. Either way, nearly everyone in most of the United States has at least one truck in their family because they are just simply work horses. It s also a huge part of the culture in the south to have a truck. Just about every boy and even a lot of girls want their first vehicle to be a truck. A pickup is one of the most reliable tools someone can own. Nearly every pickup enthusiast or working individual needs a gas or diesel truck, and the better choice is a diesel truck. The initial cost of a diesel truck can be daunting for someone looking for a new truck to think about especially when compared to a gas truck. It is equally plausible that he, with in this pursuit, would find joy and new breadth of pleasure in the happy surprises inherent in a world of billions of potential innovators. That he hold this phenomenon as an inseparable source of both the quantity and quality of his present and future pleasures. Thus, an educated hedonist would realize, understanding that unless programed with not only the summation of past but also future human interactions and innovations, the machine could never equate a quality nor quantity of happiness greater than his current grasp of it. Justifiably, he would remain right to his theory to smile as he turn heeled away from the machine, choosing to swim in an ocean of potential pleasure over wading in the pond of his limited experience. Personality Psychology Funder (2006) defines personality as a person s pattern of thought, emotion, and behavior, with psychological mechanisms and underpinnings. Studying personality within the field of social psychology makes logical senses. While the study of personality psychology seeks to determine the various ways that people differ from one another, and figure out individuals from the inside out, personality within social psychology seeks to figure out individuals from the inside out in varying contexts. Not talking about racism is letting a pot stir and allowing racism to grow beneath our noses. When we don t speak on racism it slows down the process of us advancing as a world. Beauchamp and Childress addresses five important virtues that are most likely pertinent to the medical practitioner which is conscientiousness, trustworthiness, discernment, compassion and integrity. If these five values are taken into account when making decisions about prenatal gene manipulation the questions may seem less complicated to answer. A trustworthy medical practitioner with integrity and compassion would want his patient to have the best chance at survival almost like a parent would. The decision made then probably would be to employ the technology only if it reliable enough to produce a result beneficial to the patient, in this case the embryo. If the technology is not developed enough, or is too risky a virtuous medical practitioner would not take the risk of harming the patient. It would probably be more virtuous to not use the technology that cannot be trusted and has too many variables associated with it. A virtuous decision would be to continue development of the technique using non viable embryos which has been done before. And only when the technology has reached a certain threshold of accuracy and precision in being able to deliver what is intended can it be used to treat real embryos. To answer the final question, if non viable embryos are being used to develop a system that might help viable embryos then the value of life is still kept intact and in fact is raised since a successful application of this advanced technology would actually enhance the quality of life of a person who otherwise would have gone through a lot of pain and ...
