The world is being changed fundamentally by AI and we are constantly faced with newspaper headlines about its harmful effects. However, there is also the potential to both ameliorate theses harms and use the new abilities of AI to transform society for the good. Can you make the difference?
3. Research
• My research helped to create my product with the questionnaire as it
showed what was the popular pieces of clothing, what colours should be
used, what price range is the best. All of this made a big impact on my
clothing store as it gave a understanding in what path I should take it in.
the strengths of my research were the questionnaire giving better ideas
and the research on other products showed how simple/complex an
actual company would make their designs. This had a bigger effect on my
product as some things didn’t fit the quota and had to be removed (i.e the
pink anime hoodie) this was a weakness towards making my clothing as I
wanted it to be purchasable and something someone would actually wear.
I could have improved my product by actually showing the design ideas to
potential consumers to get a poll on whether it would go into the clothing
store or if it would fit in.
4. Planning
• The planning didn’t come as much as a factor in this clothing store with the
final product. A lot of designs were cut out or altered to make it different to
the initial idea. A weakness of my planning was how much of it was actually
included in the final product. Planning about making a dragon shirt got
completely cut out as there wasn’t any ideas that I enjoyed on a hoodie during
the design process. To improve my planning I could have thought more into
what would actually be in the product and how I wanted the design to actually
before hand. During the planning I said there will be no famous characters
included although this changed drastically as my logo was being made during
this process and I wanted to add the final logo to the clothing store. The
informal proposal was cut a lot shorter than expected as I thought I could
achieve more than I actually did. All of this had not as big of an effect but did
make the product a lot smaller than my initial plan and a lot was changed that
I wasn’t expecting at the beginning. The mind maps at the beginning were
very useful as it gave me time to think of which of the 3 ideas I wanted to base
my product on. Doing the mind map made me think of the strengths and
weaknesses of the different ideas which made it a lot easier to choose.
5. Time Management
• My time wasn’t managed as well as I initially planned it to be. I thought I
could get a lot more done that was actually possible and because of time a
lot of products during the process got cut or added less too. The project
was completed on time just not to its full potential because of the small
time limit. My products would have improved as there would be more
products and more ideas. If I got more time I would have added a lot more
designs and a lot more colour options, clothing options, phone case
options and a much more. The time area made the product more complex
than first expecting as I had to get rid of so many more ideas and limit my
possibilities so I have full products and not just half finished products that
would have made the final product anyway. The planning stage was a
quick process which didn’t take too much of my time as I already planned
the idea before filling out the documents
6. Technical QualitiesDifferences:
The asos product
image has somebody
actually wearing the
hoodie to see what it
looks like on
someone instead of
just a normal design
idea on a blank
hoodie png. My
product uses cleaner
colours whereas the
asos design uses
gradients and
shading. My design
is a lot longer than
the asos design. The
asos hoodie includes
a lot more writing
than my product
does
Similarities:
Both products
show the back
design both
including an
animal. Both
hoodies use
Japanese
symbol type
writing. Both
include a circle
in the
background of
the animal
Differences:
The asos hoodie includes more colours than my design and also
doesn’t include a box round the design like my product does. The
asos was made by a photoshoot where as mine was made using Krita
and photoshop
7. Aesthetic Qualities
My products are very creative as I have not seen these
types of design before. I like the look of my work as
most of my designs are clean or include things that I
enjoy. The two hoodies shown to the left are my two
favourite designs as it includes ambitious designs with
collages of characters I like or grew up with. If I were
to improve anything it would be the front logo of the
hoodie as that had less thought put into it as the back
designs did. I really like the aesthetics of both hoodies.
In the questionnaire it was said that as long as the
designs are good they will get a purchase so I added
my two favourite pieces of artwork as I think the
designs are good
Analysis:
The white hoodie has the back design of my logo.
This shows a j shape with a circle around it and
characters inside the j. the characters are from tv
shows or video games that I play/ enjoy the
character design or were apart of my childhood
growing up. The black hoodie has the same idea but
in a poster and not a logo the red colours are also
the same so both designs fit together if I were to put
them next to each other
8. Audience AppealIn the research I asked
what is their favourite
piece of clothing was and
the answer was
hoodie/jacket/jumper.
Seeing this the hoodies
were my main priority
whilst making this
product as it would be
the most popular part of
my clothing store.
The most popular colour
was black therefore I
kept the hoodies to
simply black or white as
its light or dark.
The majority of people
wear dark colours like
black and grey so most
of my designs are black
hoodies but there is still
white incase people
other enjoy light
coloured clothing.
The pocket design was
the most popular area
of design therefore all
the hoodies include a
pocket design as well as
the other back design
which wasn’t the most
popular but was still up
the in the results.
The questionnaire respondents said they wanted around 2-3 colours in their
designs therefore most are kept at around 2 colours. Although there will be
still some people that like multiple colours therefore there is the full coloured
collage and logo hoodies
This appeals towards my
target audience as it
doesn’t have many
colours and has a simple
and clean design. The
black and red designs go
more towards the males
and superheros and
wolves also go more
towards males
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the logo and the collage hoodie as a hoodie as its
very colourful and includes a lot of characters people
know. I like the complex designs of them and think they
look good on a hoodie
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
More designs could have been made as there isn’t that
many. The positioning of the designs could be tweaked a
little bit to go better on the hoodie
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how simple and clean the wolf designs are and how
they are different colours and words to the different
hoodie. Showing that it says white version on the white
wolf and black wolf on the black version gives attention to
detail
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
More colour options for the designs. Black and white
being the only clothing colours is too little and I would
prefer more options
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
The variety of clothing and more things other than clothing. As a
lot of the designs are prints its nice to be able to get them as prints
and not just on the back of a hoodie
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Give more showing options. The phone case was only on an
iphone case and wasn’t shown on anything else. Also with the
clothing not having a lot of colour options I wish there was
more. A showcase of what the hoodie looks like on a person
would also be helpful
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree that there should be a showcase of what the hoodies
actually look like on someone in different positions to give the
viewer more options to whether they want to buy it or not. I
also liked how clean and simple the wolf designs were. Having
the designs as prints and not just hoodie I agree with as they
look as they are more made for prints than hoodie designs
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I partly disagree with the colours options as some hoodies
would go well with different hoodies and some wouldn’t. for
example white and black wolf would work with other hoodie
colours as they are inverted to each other. Although it may
work for other designs like the logo and collage and I should
have experimented more with them hoodie colours
14. Peer Feedback Summary
– I would look at more colour options with some of
the designs to change and give more colour
options if possible. I would change the amount of
hoodies and add more but I didn’t have time too. I
would also change the amount of preview options
for the phone cases as I only showed one but
there would be more if it was an actual
production
