Joshua generated 5 ideas for music videos using different styles and techniques. The top two ideas were a fully animated music video in the style of Peter Pan or a video combining recorded dance footage with animated effects. After researching examples and considering the time commitment, Joshua selected the animated Peter Pan-style idea as it aligned best with the song's story and his animation skills.

6. MUSIC VIDEO IDEA
EVALUATIONOverall numbers 1 and 2 are the most appealing to do but they
would take the most amount of time. Id like to add
artwork/animation into the product but I may not have enough
time to do so. The song with have to do with something I'm able
to animate which may not be a possibility.
Numbers 3 and 5 are a bit too simplistic and overall just
wouldn’t be worth the effort for a small quality music video. Is a
great option depending on how much time I have. If I run out of
time I'm able to use these two idea as something to fall back on
Number 4 is a great idea but would be very time consuming and
hard to put together. It would create a lot of work to be able to
make this the quality I want it to be. Also some things may be
out of reach for example sets, people to act in the scenes,
quality cameras and required setups.
The one I want to do the most is number 1. the easiest to do is
number 5. the best quality would be 1 or 4. so overall I'm going
to choose number 1 to do as it suits my idea the best and makes
the process easier.

Ava Max- Freaking me out: lots of visual lyrics in the song that I can use for
the music video. Tells a small story but doesn’t include enough for a full music
video of visuals.
ELO- Mr. blue sky: doesn’t have a music video. Can picture a lot of visuals for
the music video. Doesn’t say enough for a short film music video.
Ruth B.- Lost boy: tells a full story about peter pans lost boy and neverland.
Good visuals for music video and characters that already exist therefore easier
to plan.
Lukas Graham- 7 years: tells a full story about growing up. Could be used
effectively with a short film. Would require a lot of work which may not have

Camerawork: in Beerus Zooming in onto the character gives mystery to
see the final product. Also zooming in on to the products being used to
create this god also keeps us wondering what the character is going to
become once finished. Also in ares they make the lighting show off the
house in the background to make sure that’s the primary focus in the
scene. It shows the how big the house is to show how much money the
rapper has. This may be used with one of the idea to make the
character stand out more in the short film and give them some sort of
props to light up to make them seem more powerful
Editing: At the very end of Beerus the character is duplicated to make it
look like there is an army behind KSI. This gives a look at how powerful
the character is. Giving him a whole army also shows power and
popularity. And in on point at the end of the video ksi is wielding a
infinity gauntlet. The editing to show the infinity stones glowing gives
more of an effect that he is almighty which is his approach.

10. RESEARCH
Art design: the art design in beerus comes from the
clothing. When they show the product the scientist
created being beerus. Ksi is wearing the outfit of beerus
to make the clothing and music video have more
structure to it. This will be used in every idea because I
was to be as correct with clothing/style/background as
much as I possibly can
Performance: the scientist scene is done excellently to
make the story as realistic as possible. This is done
because they want to show how beerus was created
clearly and make sure most of the audience can
understand it without it being too complex. This will be
used in every idea as I want the audience to be able to
understand what is happening with ease

Ruth b.-lost boy: good lyrics focusing on a story. Would be easy to
animate as it tells a story using an existing character. There is already
an existing music video but not with the style I'm going for.
Ava Max-freaking me out: music video is mostly lyrics therefore the
style I'm going for would be different. Has a lot of visual representation
in the lyrics.
Overall I think I'm going to choose Ruth b.- lost boy as it tells a story in
the lyrics that I can use for my animation. It also uses existing
characters so the design becomes a lot easier as I already know what
they look like. The story is about one of the lost boys finding a home.
Ava max does have a lot of visuals but not to put into any sort of
sequence/animation that would make sense.

12. POTENTIAL TECHNIQUES
In my idea there is a lot of different art techniques and
animation techniques I can use. The animation I will be
going for is simply cartoon with frame by frame
animation. The art technique I will use will be similar to
the cartoon story of peter pan. As the music is related to
peter pan and his lost boys it would be a lot easier to
base my artwork around the animated film.
I have chosen to have it like this so I can be as close as
possible to the original peter pan which the song is
talking about. This will make my music video look more
official and realistic. This also gives me an easier idea to
put the music video together and get my plan to animate
it to work in time.

13. CONVENTIONS YOU PLAN TO
USEAnimation is a convention I plan to use. Having an art
background and doing art as a hobby makes the process
of animation easier. I have done animation before and
not done camerawork so sticking to doing animation
makes the music video easier to make as I already have
some sort of knowledge in animation in comparison to
no knowledge in camerawork.
Camerawork I've never done once because I have had no
reason to in the past. Picking up a camera and using it
correctly would be a difficult process and will overall
make the music video a low quality product and time
consuming.

The name of the artist and track is: Ruth B.- Lost Boy
Brief biographical background: Lost boy is about the
characters from peter pan known as the lost boys. The
artists put herself in one of their shoes and tells his
story. This shows the characters feelings from being a
lost boy to having a home in neverland.
Links to other artists: this song links back to the artists
James Matthew Barrie and Libby Hamilton. These people
mentioned are the creators of the story peter pan which
the song is inspired by.
Genre info: the song is in the pop music genre.

18. FINAL IDEA – TRACK
SUMMARY
Summary/analysis of track [consider meaning, content,
duration, pace and style of the song]
The track is a first person perspective of one of the lost
boys from peter pan. Going through one of the lost boys
thoughts of what its like to go to neverland and finally
find a home. This gives a different perspective towards
the film peter pan giving you a behind the scenes look
into ones of their lives. The duration is long giving us the
entire story of how the lost boy got to where he is today.
The pace of the song is quite slow like being read from a
book. This makes the song seems more like a story that
an actual lost boy has written. This makes the style of
the song to be more like a narrative childrens book with
the twist of it being a song.

appear on the screen. Pans to the whole of Neverland.

My interpretation of the song is that its telling a story about the lost boys from
peter pan. With this thought I have decided to use those characters and put the
songs lyrics together into a plan of what to animate for the final product. This is
a story board of how I want to do the animation to make the product overall
easier when I actually get to the animation part.

23. PRODUCTION OUTLINE
My product is going to be an animation based off the
story the song is telling. This will basically give a vision
towards what's going on in the story. My intended
outcome is to have a full animation of the song in which
the story is being told. I have decided upon this decision
as the song tells a already known story from somebody
different showing a different perspective. Knowing that
having a animation for it would be a cool idea to give
people a visual on what that other perspective is like.

The equipment I will need to make this animation is all
digital based. This will include a computer with internet
access so I can research poses of the peter pan
characters. This will also include software's like
Photoshop so I can draw and create the animation.
Premier is also needed so I can put the final product
together and put final edits into the product.
These requirements are easy to obtain as in the college
there is a library always open with computers available.
As all my lessons require computers I will always have
one. These options will always be available during
college open times

Location for filming isnt needed as I will not be filming I
will be animating. As long as the location has computer

shortest time process so shouldn’t really need that much

In the images I have ways of simplifying the animation
process but cutting unnecessary bits and making the
animation different to fit the time frame.
I don’t have to worry about location, people or areas as
none of that is needed for making an animation. This is a
solo project that doesn’t require a location.

- 2 weeks pre-production
- 1 week filming [plan for up to 2 days]
- 2 weeks editing [essentially 2 days for every day you

My schedule is to take around 2 weeks to animate and 1
week editing. As the animation is the hardest part it
needs more focus then the editing which should be
straight forward in comparison.
The editing probably wont even take a week so I may
take longer than 2 weeks to animate.
