Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

3. Research
• The strengths of the research PowerPoint was that I could look and annotate
existing album covers which would help me think about what I would include
in my album cover. Another strength would be that I could also see what other
people thought about my product as well as get information about them , for
example many people like rap therefore I could see what album I would
create. The feedback I got also helped me as I could see what people would
want on an album cover. We also did interviews which showed me information
like how old are you therefore I could base my target audience on that
demographic. I also found out how often they listen to music which showed
my how much people like music. Overall I feel that annotating the covers was
the best part of this PowerPoint as I could see how professional editors had
laded out that cover.
• The weakness of this power point is that you only have the class responses to
your interviews and surveys as you didn't’t have much time. Therefore you
may have similar responses as they are all the same age and most likely like
the same or similar things , that is something I would change. Another
weakness is that you are only limited to 10 questions due to survey monkey
unless you pay for premium.
4. Planning
• The strengths of this PowerPoint Is that you get to plan and make a mind
map , this is a positive because you get to generate ideas which may help
you when making your product. Another strength is that you get to see
possible colour schemes and possible designs when making your mood
board. You also get to aspire to other album covers and artists for example
you may like a specific tattoo or accessories therefore you might
Photoshop that in. the final advantage is that when doing the formal
proposal you get to think about the concept and the type of products your
going to do , you also get to think about your specific target audience as
well as items needed for the product.
• A weakness is that fir the mood board you end up adding unneccacy
images as many rap album covers are very similar and also use similar
colours.
5. Time Management
• I did not manage my time very well , however I took photos for this project
early the reason why I did not manage my time well was because I did an
album cover and back cover and spent about 1 week and a half then
decided I did not like therefore I made a new one last week which was
more of a rush than I thought. However I have completed all the work
within the time limits. If I had more time on this project I would probably
take more photos which could make my album cover better. Also I feel
that I have done to many drafts which has took a lot of time.
6. Technical Qualities
Similarities
One similar thing between both of these covers is that
They both include dark colors , this may be because it helps things To stand out. Another thing similar is that they both include jewelry
for example in mine I have used Gucci rings and the opposite cover has used a gold crown , this is most likely to show wealth which is
very common in rap albums. The final similarity is that they have both included the parental advisory logo in the bottom corner , this is
because in most rap albums they swear which means you have to use this logo.
Differences
One difference is that my album cover includes a title however the other doesn't’t , I think that a title is Important for an album is because the
people know how to find it and makes the album easier to search for. Another difference is that cover b includes a picture of the artists back
which makes it harder for the audience to identify Who the artist is unlike my album cover you know who the artist is. Another difference is
that the cover does not actually show what the artist is called unlike my custom one , this is needed in my opinion especially when you have a
picture of the artists back because you cant identify him.
7. Technical qualities.
Similarities
The similar things between these posters is that the both include dark backgrounds therefore the font and
picture stand out more. Another similar thing is that they both include a picture of the artist , this is so that
people can easily recognise the album without knowing the name of the album.
Differences
The differences between these 2 posters is that Kendrick Lamar's does not include the price on the front
therefore people don’t know how much it is. Also Kendrick's Lamar includes a portrait image however mine is
more landscape.
8. Technical qualities
Similarities
The similarities between these back covers are that they both include dark colours so that
the font and barcode stands out. Another similarity is that they both include white font
which stands out the dark background. They also both include a barcode this is so people
can purchase the album.
Differences
There is not many differences however the professional one includes more writing about
who is involved in the album
9. Aesthetic Qualities
In my opinion I feel that my album cover looks good and was creative , this is because I added items
such as Gucci rings and a Gucci snake tattoo so that my cover will be a part of the typical rap
conventions. The main part of my album cover that I like is the Gucci tattoos and rings. This is
because designer brands are very popular in rap music and also I quite like designer brands such as
Gucci. If I were to improve one aspect it would be the brightness of the tattoo and rings as they stick
out a bit at the moment. To improve this I will go onto Photoshop and darken that area. One strength
of my album cover is that it includes the name of the artist as well as a picture of the artist. Another
strength would be that I have aspired to the typical genre conventions. However one weakness is
that I could lower the brightness of the accessories as they stick out a bit. Another weakness is that
it doesn't’t include all the typical rap conventions such as money. I also feel that my other products (
tour poster and back cover) went well this is because I feel that it sticks out and that you can easily
recognize these products and link them to each other for example you know they all belong together.
10. Audience Appeal
One way I have appealed to my target
audience (15-24) is by making a rap album.
This appealed to my audience as when
making questionnaires 50% said that they
would want to see a rap album. Another
way I have appealed to my audience is
through including the Gucci rings and tattoo
, this appeals to my audience as fashion is a
big part of rap therefore this should appeal
to my audience. I also feel that I have not
appealed to my audience through my other
products as it is quite hard to do when
making a back of an album cover however if
you do include items that will appeal to your
audience it may take away the rap
conventions. However I have included the
same tattoo on my tour poster which
appeals to my audience a tiny bit.
12. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product
– It is original and looks like a real album cover. No one
else would have thought of doing it this way. The
pictures you used were taken yourself, instead of just
taking some off the internet. You can see you really
put effort into the products.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– You could have thought of your own song names
instead of using others that are already out, as it
makes it more original if you think of your own.
13. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like that all of the covers are the same colours
and the fonts what you have suit it good as well
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I would make the background a little bit brighter
and I would only have two different fonts
14. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the way you have chosen I picture you have
taken yourself. I also like the way you have included
the smoke on the cover as it makes it looks
professional as well as original.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I would personally add something else on the
back of the album cover.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I
agree with adding my own made up songs , this is
because then the album would be 100% original. I also
agree with only having 2 fonts because otherwise it
looks un organised and unprofessional.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• Adding something else to the back cover could affect
the conventions as back covers are usually simple. Also
if I added brighter colours the main picture wouldn’t
stand out as much .
16. Peer Feedback Summary
I may change one or two of the fonts as well as
adding some made up songs onto the album.
This is because then I think my album will be
almost like a real one due to all the original
elements. I may change the fonts however I've
only used 3-4 , if I change some of the fonts the
cover will look more organised and professional.
