The document discusses how the student obtained audience feedback on drafts of their media production and print products. For the production, they surveyed classmates to identify aspects that needed improvement, such as shortening some shots, increasing title display time, adjusting audio levels, and adding ambient sounds. Based on feedback, the student made these revisions. For posters advertising the production, an online poll showed poster 3 was most popular. Feedback also helped the student improve a magazine article by making text boxes less cramped and adding more color. Overall, the student learned that audience feedback is important for identifying needed changes and creating professional-looking media products.

2. Audience Feedback
For both my production and print products I gained audience
feedback after creating my first draft of them. For my production I
shown my production to my age range(other students in my
media class) and got them to give me their opinions on the
production and complete a survey on what needs to be imported
my next and final draft. I found this really useful and it helped me
a lot to solve what needed to be done to make my production
better and closer to looking like a real media product.
For my print products(poster and magazine page) I also got my
peers to take a look and give me feedback. I posted all of the
different drafts on my blog, some very different and some slightly
different and created a tally of which ones they preferred. This
helped a lot and was very simple to complete as from the tally I
could clearly see which one they liked the most.
3. Production Feedback-Consequences
To the left is one of my blog posts on audience
feedback for my first draft. These are the questions I
got people in my class to respond too. After receiving
feedback I learned that I needed to improve on the
following…
• Cut some of the shots shorter- Some of the shots for my production
were way too long and dragged a little according to the audience. For
my next draft I cut some of the long ones making my short film run
better and not drag.
• Titles- I learned from feedback that some of my titles especially the
main title disappeared too soon not leaving the audience enough time
to read them and take them in. For my next draft I increased the time
giving the audience more time.
• Sound- I also learned from my feedback that the sound was over
powering the voices in the film in a few parts of the production making it
hard for the audience to listen to the characters which left them
confused as they couldn't’t hear what they were saying. To improve I
just lowered down the sound in parts and increased the volume of the
voices.
• Ambient sounds- I learned from the feedback that the audience thought
that the music was suitable and fit in well with what was going on but
they said I could add in some ambient sound effects such as footsteps.
I did this by using a sound effects website and adding them in at certain
parts.
• Titles- I learned that people liked the titles but a few people said that
there were some that didn't’t need to appear such as “Staring” as it was
only a short movie so I simply removed these for my next and final
draft.
4. Poster Feedback-Consequences
Poster 3 Poster 2 Poster 1
After summing up my audience
feedback for my poster for the three
drafts I created Poster 3 was the
most popular and people liked poster
3 the most compared to the others.
As you can see from the pie chart
poster 1 which was my first draft was
the most un-popular poster and that
nearly ¾ of the feedback I received
preferred poster 3. The audience
feedback helped a lot with this as it
let the audience choose which one I
used for my final poster and give me
and insight on what they liked and
didn't’t like so I know for the future.
5. Print Products
Above are the three print product posters which were shown when getting
audience feedback(1,2 and 3) As you can see they all have the same base
image but different things are on each one such as the location and size of
titles and age ratings.
6. Magazine Article-Consequences
I also had to create a review
page/magazine article for a
magazine for my production
consequences. As I only
created one draft of the
magazine article I shown
people in my class a paper
copy and on the copy on my
blog to get feedback. I then
wrote down the feedback and
acted on it especially the
things that were said more
than once. The audience
feedback allowed me to
improve well on my magazine
article and to get it perfect for
my final draft.
Here are things that were said by the audience…
“Add more color such as red to make it stand out
more”
“Space some of the text boxes out a little more to
avoid it being cramped”
7. Overall and What I have Learned…
Overall I have learned that audience feedback is really important as it allows
other people outside you own eye to see what they think and give you
constructive criticism. Without the audience feedback I wouldn't’t of known how
to improve and what to improve on which will help with the quality of my
coursework.
The feedback also allowed me to improve on my product and print products
more accurately as they gave me points straight away and points on how to
improve them especially my peers who are in my class as they are also
creating a product. This helped me as it meant I could get straight on with
improving straight after receiving feedback and adding on to the improvements
over time.
I have also learned from audience feedback how to make my product and print
products look more like real media products as I not only learned this by doing
research into existing products but also by my work being compared to other
peoples work especially real media products. This is really important as the
more my products look like real media products the better the quality.
