This document outlines a proposal for a magazine called CIVIL focused on films, TV, and entertainment. The magazine would target male teenagers and men age 16+ interested in genres like sci-fi, action, and fantasy. Drawing from experience with software like Photoshop and Premiere Pro, the proposal describes plans for a monthly publication examining the movie industry through articles, reviews, and drawing inspiration from existing entertainment magazines. Progress will be evaluated through reflections on production stages to improve time management, scheduling, and editing.

Working Title: CIVIL (In reference to EMPIRE Magazine)
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience: My magazine will generally be targeted to everyone of all genders and ages,
though I believe the main demographic will consist of male teenagersand men age 16+; the
topic of films in genres like Sci-Fi, action and Fantasy are mostly marketed towards men
thus I feel obliged to do the same with my magazine although I will of course include
content for everyone to enjoy. The Social status should not be that crucial to the availability
of my magazine however people with more money like working and upper class are more
likely to buy it. The best approach for an upcoming magazine to take is to become
nationwide before thinking about going international therefore my product will be a UK
exclusive upon its release.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I feel I have learned a lot of skills over the course of the past couple months, especially with
software like Photoshop and Premiere Pro. As the projects we have studied use these
programs to make the product. Tutorials have also helped develop knowledge to aid me
through making production easier. Being experienced with these elements helps me
immensely when it comes to production of my magazine and other projects in the future,
knowing tools, techniques and shortcuts in Photoshop speed my work up and allow me
more time to focus on the writing aspects and evaluation.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
Initial ideasfor my product were that of a film and TV magazine, a nature centred one or a
gaming one. The two I was torn between picking was either National geographic-esque
monthly magazine or the one focused on the movie industry and produce a monthly
newsletter based on that. Personally I am passionate about both topics and believe I could
make both work, in the end I chose the latter as I believe I can talk/write about films more
easily and will be more enjoyable to create. There is also more source material and
references to use from already existing products in my magazine and I have quite a good
idea how to include that in my work.
As mentioned there are many mass-produced TV and film magazinesthat can help me by
researching them and what makes them unique and popular amongst film fans and readers.
With this I can gain ideas of how to present and layout the cover and write out my articles
for my double page spread.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
An important aspect of evaluation is to reflect on progress as it is being made in the
production reflection PowerPoint, screenshot stills of certain stages of production and
assess them on how you think it is going and what could be done better i.e. time
management, scheduling and editing.
