This document summarizes Benjamin Birney's personal project evaluating the production process of a band poster. The summary includes:
- Strengths of the research included ideas for a time travel theme and evidence that music merchandise is popular. Weaknesses included an inability to use outside materials and a need to learn Photoshop better.
- Planning strengths were having images and a layout, weaknesses didn't account for sick days in the timeline.
- Time management strengths allowed completing research and planning, more time would allow for additional designs.
- Peer feedback suggested adding more description, colors, and matching image colors to backgrounds. The summary agrees more description and colors could improve the poster.
3. Research
Strengths
• Research helped me come with the idea of time travel theme.
• From some evidence I have found the most merchandise
made comes from any form of music and bands.
• Thanks to the idea and past evidences, this helped me come
up with an idea of how my product could turn out.
Weaknesses
• I couldn’t borrow any existing martial from other sources
otherwise I would’ve received a copyright strike, so I felt a bit
restricted.
• I could’ve learned more of the specifics of photoshop to
prevent any small hiccups.
4. Planning
Strengths
• Because of all the research and images I gathered as well as
the layout design I drew up I had general idea of the poster
would look like.
Weaknesses
• Didn’t take into account sick days and I could have
incorporated that into my allotted time.
Effect
• Thanks to all this planning and time I was able to come up will
an accurate depiction of techno-pop time travel.
5. Time Management
Strength
• Thanks to my fast work speed and some help from my tutor I
was able to get all the research and planning complete so I
could get the finale draft of my product complete.
More time
• If I had more time I would be able to complete all of after
work.
• Also if a I had more allotted time I could have made different
designs for different products like CD Cases and maybe some
T-shirt.
6. Technical Qualities
Both my design
and daft punks
have gone for
the same blue
colour.
Both mine and daft punk
poster is set in a different
time period, mine from
past and future, while
theirs is in the 80’s.
My band poster consist of
images depicting time
travel, while there poster
has an image of the band
members instead.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
One aspect of the
poster I like was the
different fonts styles
to describe what
time period there in.
Another creative
aspect was the
logo/clock, the
neutron in the
middle show just
how they would
traverse time.
If I had more time I
could’ve found more
images that wouldn’t
be surrounded by a
white background,
that way the magic
wand tool wouldn’t
crop parts of the
images leaving half a
car or a computer.
I could’ve gotten a
better looking time
line or with more time
I could have made my
own timeline.
8. Audience Appeal
My poster appeals to the
audience about there being
more images on a band
poster.
If past films and shows
have shown about time
travel, it can be an
adventure so it come
across as up-beat which
appeal to the audiences.
Thanks to the replies
from a general audience, I
used images and words
that wouldn’t offend or
be misleading to a
younger audiences.
10. Feedback 1-Sam M
• What did you like about the product?
• What I like about this product is that there is a lot of colour. I like
how you did past on one side and present on the other: that goes
for the cars, laptop and the music. Also like how one side is grey and
the other side is blue.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• The improvements that could have been made for this product are
shapes, more colour and a bit more of a description. Overall, I think
you did a fantastic job with the rest of the designs for your poster.
11. Feedback 2-Hayden L
• What did you like about the product?
• I like that there is like modern things next to like older
things and I like the colours that have been used and I
think that it works really well
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• Ther improvements that you could make are write
something about your product like what it is other than
that it is a good poster.
12. Feedback 3-Harrison W
• What did you like about the product?
– i do like the theme of the poster of how half is old
timey and the other half is the future and how it also
splits into 2 colours which also gives off the old times
and the future.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– maybe the one thing i would say about improvements
is maybe making the objects on the right to make it
look more black and white but other than that, its
pretty good
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
The main points I agree with are if I had more time I
could have given it some description about what my
product was about than just pictures.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
There was nothing in the feedback I could disagree
with, because with all the feedback.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
Thanks to the feedback I have received from my peer, I
understand how I could improve on my original design.
The first improvement I could have made was giving
my poster more description on what my poster was
about as well making sure the images colour match the
background to how they connect.
The second improvement I could have made was giving
my poster more colour than just black and blue, like for
example the other colour choices on my questionnaire
were red, yellow and green
