Working Title:
The Loch Ness Monster and the history of aquatic dinosaurs in Scotland
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
The purpose of the product is to educate younger and older audiences. I will do this by creating a
timeline of The Loch Ness Monster sightings and of when dinosaurs existed in certain times and
periods. Another thing I will do to make it educational is tell facts about the dinosaurs and Loch
Ness as a location.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
My products a historical documentary about aquatic dinosaurs and The Loch Ness Monster.
What sort of product is it
Content
My documentary is about The Loch Ness Monster and aquatic dinosaurs in Scotland. In the
documentary, I’d include facts about The Loch Ness Monster and dinosaurs as well as a timeline
to show when the dinosaurs were alive and when The Loch Ness Monster was spotted. My
product has less of a story and more a chronological order of how things happened.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Audience:
The primary age range of my documentary’s audience would be 19+, as a documentary about The
Loch Ness Monster appeals to older audiences because it’s educational and historical. The
documentaries secondary age would be 10-18, because dinosaurs can appeal to younger
audience due to interest founded from films like “Jurassic Park”. I will appeal to my primary
audience by making it informative and educational to be interesting to older audiences.
To appeal to my secondary audience, I will include a lot of pictures to keep their attention and
maybe some animation if I have enough time.
My product appeals to both genders equally as it is educational, and learning isn’t specific to either
gender. To appeal to males and females, I will try and get a male guest and a female guest on the
podcast to give equal coverage.
The primary social status my documentary appeals to is upper class because people who with a
higher education may be more likely to learn in their spare time. The secondary social status my
documentary appeals to is working class and middle class as that’s my social status and
background. So, I will appeal to my primary audience by making it educational, which will appeal to
someone who’s upper class due to their possible higher education. Finally, my documentary will
appeal to the secondary audience as that’s my background; therefore, we might have similar
opinions.
The primary psychographic for my product is achievers because it’s going to be educational and
therefore worthwhile to watch. My secondary psychographic is belongers as conspiracies and
dinosaurs are both rather popular nowadays and are therefore something to discuss with other
people. I will appeal to my primary audience by including a lot of information, so it’d be worthwhile
to watch as they’d learn something. Then to appeal to the secondary audience, the fact it’s about
an extremely common conspiracy theory that a lot of people know about means it’s a possible
conversation topic to help them fit in.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?

Research and Planning:
I will include the same shots I discussed in my research (establishing shots and mid/medium
close-up shots). This is because it makes the product look professional as a lot of documentaries
use these shots very often. The elements from my planning I will include are the colour scheme
and image styles. I will choose a natural colour scheme of blues and greens as the documentary is
primarily about water. Finally, the image styles I’ll use are real life photography and possibly
animation if I have enough time.
What elements of your research and planning will you use in your final production?
Where will you use your research and planning in your final production?
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
I will comply with ASA code 4, to make sure my product doesn’t contain any content that seeks out
to offend or harm anyone. I will accomplish this by not mentioning anything political or religious I’ll
simply just talk about dinosaurs and The Loch Ness Monster which is a neutral subject.
I will comply with ASA code 5, to make sure my product is suitable for children and doesn’t sell
anything to them. This will be accomplished by not mentioning any products that a child might want
to buy and by not mentioning anything that might scare them.
My product will not offend any social or religious groups as I won’t mention anything political or
anything that could harm them.
I will ensure I won’t offend anyone by mentioning neutral topics and only using safe language.
The only existing IP I’ll be mentioning will be The Loch Ness Monster, but I will act under copyright
laws by not using anyone else’s images or footage unless it’s fair use.
I will make my product sufficiently different from other existing products by using a lot of my own
footage. Also, I will do all the research I can in my own words as not to copy off of articles.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
