The document discusses the creation of a logo for a band called Invoke. Various fonts were tried before settling on the Riven font. The band's name Invoke is used as the logo, written in the Riven font, without additional design elements. Riven is described as an old-style serif font that is commonly used for rock band logos and is well-suited for the simple and attractive logo design. Different color combinations and backgrounds were tested before finalizing the logo design.

2.  To create a one feasible
logo, I tried different fonts
such as, Pieces of Eight,
Haunting Attraction, Riven
and Sell Your Soul. The
font which was the most
suitable was Riven, so I
chose Riven as a font for
the band's logo. I used
Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to
produce the logo with the
help of a text box as only a
font is used to represent
the logo. The evidence of
the production process is
shown in the next slides.

has its own record label, using the
same name ‘Invoke’ and both of

4.  Dating back to the middle of the 15th
century, old style serif fonts are
considered to be based on the humanist
calligraphy. The key features of the old
style serif fonts are low line contrast
(when there is only a slight difference
between thick and thin lines forming a
letter) and diagonal stress (the thinnest
parts of the letters are those at the
angles). It is believed that the
combination of diagonal stress and
bracketed serifs in old style serif fonts
creates a special positive word picture,
which is especially for the ease of ready
and perception. One of its example is
Riven, which is the selected font for my
logo.
 The personality of the band’s logo is all
about the personality of the selected font.
Riven is a simple font, which I think, is
appropriate for a rock band’s logo. Mostly
old style serif fonts are used in a rock
band’s logo. The most interesting thing
about this font is the letter V, which
helped me to give an attractive
appearance of the logo. However, I have
not used any artwork in the logo as I
wanted to keep it quite simple.
