INTRODUCTION 
Every music video has a different concept. It is the style or an idea of a music 
video. A concept varies from lyrics to lyrics and genre to genre. It is the idea 
which helps to show the meaning of the video. There are different concepts of 
a video which can be shown in the form of narrative, performance or an 
animated vide. I have short listed two types of concepts for my music video, 
one is a performance based idea and the other is a narrative + performance 
based.
MUSIC VIDEO CONCEPT #1 
The first concept for my instrumental based music track is based on a 
performance based video, In which I will show the band performing in their 
jam room where the band will be playing the track and shots will be taken 
while their performance. I have planned to use variety of camera shots and 
angles, such as, mid shots, over the shoulder shots, bird’s eye view, high and 
low angle shots etc. As genre of the song is Rock, the makeup and costumes 
will be according to that and a dark theme will be used.
MUSIC VIDEO CONCEPT #1 
My first concept is performance based and will be showing the band playing in 
their jam room. The opening of the video will show the arrangements of all the 
instruments which include guitars, drums, bass etc this shot is followed by the 
entry of the band in which different transitions will b used. Moreover, while the 
band is performing through out the song various shots will be taken and 
different actions made by band are going to be captured in the form of a 
video. the cheering and laughing of the band members will conclude my 
video.
MOODS OF THE VIDEO 
Following are the moods which will be used in the music video:

• Dark 
• Happy 
• Bright
ACTIONS TO BE USED IN THE MUSIC VIDEO 
• Fighting 
• Arguing 
• Talking 
• Sitting 
• Standing 
• Walking 
• Drinking 
• Smoking 
• Driving 
• Playing Music
LOCATIONS 
Following locations will be used in the music video: 
• Invoke Studios (Lahore, Pakistan) 
• Garage 
• Road 
• Ground
TECHNIQUES/EFFECTS 
Following techniques/effects will be used in the video: 
• Slow Motion 
• Fast Motion 
• Fade Out Transition 
• Fade In Transition 
• Close-ups 
• Extreme close-ups 
• High-Angle Shot 
• Low-Angle Shot 
• Over the shoulder Shot 
• Mid Shot
MAKE-UP 
The make up which will be used by the band members in the video is 
mentioned below and an example of the idea is also shown in the 
picture below: 
• Eye Liner (To create a feeling which represents the genre, rock. 
• Blush On (To highlight the cheeks and noses in order to create a natural 
look.)
HAIRSTYLES 
All of the band members will have short hair and funky hairstyles like 
spikes, to create an immaculate rock image. An example of the 
hairstyles to be used in the video is given below:
MUSIC VIDEO CONCEPT 2 
The second concept for my instrumental based music track is based on a 
narrative + performance based video. In which will be showing the band 
performing as well as acting. The feel of the track will be depicted through 
footage. As no lyrical content is presented in the track, there is no compulsion 
on the idea of the footage. Several ideas can be used in the video, but the 
idea I have pinned down is that the band is traveling in a car and is looking for 
a new day, hope, and life. Since they are saddened upon their lives and wish 
to live it again in a surpassing way.
The second concept includes a performance and narrative based video. The start 
of the video will be showing the past experiences of the four band members 
who have gone through many hardships in the early years and are broken 
down by their lives. The introduction will show the tragic life of each band 
member separately. In the second scene i will b shooting these four band 
members meeting and having a walk together. This is where the music track 
will take a start. After that they move to their jam room and start to play 
music. I will conclude my video by showing some clips which are meant to 
compare their past and the present. That how tragic their past was as 
compared to their lively and joyful present.
LOCATIONS 
The locations which will be used in this video is Invoke Studios (Lahore, 
Pakistan) and the street outside the studio.
MAKE-UP 
The make up which will be used by the band members in the video is 
mentioned below:

11. the concept of the music video

  • 2. INTRODUCTION Every music video has a different concept. It is the style or an idea of a music video. A concept varies from lyrics to lyrics and genre to genre. It is the idea which helps to show the meaning of the video. There are different concepts of a video which can be shown in the form of narrative, performance or an animated vide. I have short listed two types of concepts for my music video, one is a performance based idea and the other is a narrative + performance based.
  • 3. MUSIC VIDEO CONCEPT #1 The first concept for my instrumental based music track is based on a performance based video, In which I will show the band performing in their jam room where the band will be playing the track and shots will be taken while their performance. I have planned to use variety of camera shots and angles, such as, mid shots, over the shoulder shots, bird’s eye view, high and low angle shots etc. As genre of the song is Rock, the makeup and costumes will be according to that and a dark theme will be used.
  • 4. MUSIC VIDEO CONCEPT #1 My first concept is performance based and will be showing the band playing in their jam room. The opening of the video will show the arrangements of all the instruments which include guitars, drums, bass etc this shot is followed by the entry of the band in which different transitions will b used. Moreover, while the band is performing through out the song various shots will be taken and different actions made by band are going to be captured in the form of a video. the cheering and laughing of the band members will conclude my video.
  • 5. MOODS OF THE VIDEO Following are the moods which will be used in the music video: • Serious • Dark • Happy • Bright
  • 6. ACTIONS TO BE USED IN THE MUSIC VIDEO • Fighting • Arguing • Talking • Sitting • Standing • Walking • Drinking • Smoking • Driving • Playing Music
  • 7. LOCATIONS Following locations will be used in the music video: • Invoke Studios (Lahore, Pakistan) • Garage • Road • Ground
  • 8. TECHNIQUES/EFFECTS Following techniques/effects will be used in the video: • Slow Motion • Fast Motion • Fade Out Transition • Fade In Transition • Close-ups • Extreme close-ups • High-Angle Shot • Low-Angle Shot • Over the shoulder Shot • Mid Shot
  • 9. MAKE-UP The make up which will be used by the band members in the video is mentioned below and an example of the idea is also shown in the picture below: • Eye Liner (To create a feeling which represents the genre, rock. • Blush On (To highlight the cheeks and noses in order to create a natural look.)
  • 10. HAIRSTYLES All of the band members will have short hair and funky hairstyles like spikes, to create an immaculate rock image. An example of the hairstyles to be used in the video is given below:
  • 11. MUSIC VIDEO CONCEPT 2 The second concept for my instrumental based music track is based on a narrative + performance based video. In which will be showing the band performing as well as acting. The feel of the track will be depicted through footage. As no lyrical content is presented in the track, there is no compulsion on the idea of the footage. Several ideas can be used in the video, but the idea I have pinned down is that the band is traveling in a car and is looking for a new day, hope, and life. Since they are saddened upon their lives and wish to live it again in a surpassing way.
  • 12. The second concept includes a performance and narrative based video. The start of the video will be showing the past experiences of the four band members who have gone through many hardships in the early years and are broken down by their lives. The introduction will show the tragic life of each band member separately. In the second scene i will b shooting these four band members meeting and having a walk together. This is where the music track will take a start. After that they move to their jam room and start to play music. I will conclude my video by showing some clips which are meant to compare their past and the present. That how tragic their past was as compared to their lively and joyful present.
  • 13. LOCATIONS The locations which will be used in this video is Invoke Studios (Lahore, Pakistan) and the street outside the studio.
