Thomas Bond reflects on the process of creating a production cover. He experimented with different background designs before deciding to enlarge the original. Various fonts, colors, and effects were tested for the master header before selecting black text with a red glow. A barcode and offer shape were added in different locations before deciding on a placement. Photos were sized and positioned, with one replaced for not fitting well. Text boxes and a bleed line were added to complete the final cover design.
2. Process
• I removed the original
background and tried to make
my own. To remove the
background I used the magnetic
lasso tool to select the original
background and deleted. it then
used the gradient tool on the
background and tried to make it
look different to the original. I
decided to stay with the original
background but I still cut it out
and just made it lager so that it
was slightly different to original.
3. Process
• I tried different types of
master header fonts and
colour. I got the first text
font of the internet but then
redid it in grey. I thought it
dint look that grate so I tried
a different type of font
which was on Photoshop
and chose black. I then
added effect to the text
which would put the red
gloe around the text. I
placed the master header
behind the group of people.
I did this by placing the text
layer behind the character
layer but in front of the
background layer.
4. Process
• I got the barcode off the
internet and tried it in
different places using the
select tool and the sizing tool. I
used the shape tool to make
the shape for the offer to go
into and typed the text and
placed it in the shape. I did
also try placing that in
different locations around the
cover to see where it fit best. I
feel that where I finely placed
it fit well with the rest of the
cover
• I used the shape tool again for
the background of the title and
made the text by using effects
to make it look gold and then
placed it over the shape
5. Process
• I got the photos off the internet
and sized them right and placed
them to where I felt like it would
go well. I did change one of the
photos because I did think it didn’t
look like a good photo to go with
the other photo. I used the shape
tool to make boxes to go in the
top left and bottom right corners
and I also tried out what borders
would look like where the text
would be, but I changed my mind
and got rid of that idea. I then put
the text in and placed red boxes
behind the text. I used the ruler
tool to make sure where the
centre is so I can equally place
things on each page and placed
them around the edges to make a
bleed line. This is so that
everything is within it so it doesn't
bleed out from the page. I think
the final product came out well
with the minor touches that I did.
