Catholics In The Elizabethan Era
Catholics in the Elizabethan Era The Elizabethan Era took place in the years 1558 to 1603 and
was marked in history as The Golden Age . It took place during the beginning of the Renaissance,
and sparked a growth in the areas of art, music and literature. Despite all of the wonderful things
that may have come from this time period, the Elizabethan Era was a time of imprisonment, torture
and prejudice for English Catholics. The main religions of the time were Protestant and Catholic,
which are both denominations of Christianity. Both Catholics and Protestants have very strong
belief system, which meant that when exposed to the corruption of the reign of Queen Elizabeth,
there was often violence and tension between the two groups. Catholics believe that Priests are the
link between God and the people, and the popewas ordained by God. Priests in the Catholic Church
were believed to be special, and were expected to devote their lives to God. The Priests wore
elaborate robes and the church was often elaborately decorated, as they believed that churches
were a way to celebrate God. Protestants believe that people can find God without a priest or
pope, and that priests were ordinary people who should live ordinary lives. They believed that
since the Church was a place to concentrate on God, it should be plain, allowing people to
concentrate on the sermons. Queen Mary I ruled before Queen Elizabeth and was her half sister.
Mary was adamant to restore England back to Catholicism

Influence On Japanese Ukiyo-E Prints
Ukiyo e significantly influenced contemporary Japanese prints (kindai hanga). Such an impact
can be directly observed when comparing the Nakamura Utaemon as Tonase contemporary print
(1984) by Tsuruya Kokei with Toshusai Sharaku s Segawa Tomisaburo as Yadorigi ukiyo e
(1794 1795). Both of these prints can be categorized as okubi e, which are Japanese woodblock
prints that feature up close portraits of their subjects by concentrating on the face and upper torso.
They also depict a famous kabuki actor as the character that he is well known for playing. Other
than having a similar subject matter and an identical portrayal of it, the simple, plain background,
bright colors, and sense of flatness generally found in ukiyo eare employed in Kokei s

Liberals And Conservatives Are Divided Dividing Essay
The main purpose of the article by Matt Motyl titled, Liberals and conservatives are
(geographically) dividing is that political parties affiliations are dividing the U.S. This can be
seen through the locations many Americans live such as liberals going to more urban areas as
opposed to the conservatives to go to less populated areas in rural states (Motyl, 2014). The author
uses the Ideological Enclavement Theory to explain the division of people in the U.S through
ideological segregated enclaves (Motyl, 2014).
In this theory, there are two components which he states, People have gut level intuitions about the
ideology of different enclaves, and when the ideology if a community matches people s personal
ideology, people infer that they would fit into that community. Second, when people have the
opportunity to do so, they will selectively migrate into enclaves that share their ideology (Motyl,
2014). He then further breaks down the theory to the consequences that emerge from this division
in three categories which stem from the idea of belonging through the self such as migration, well
being and cognitive style and Intergroup through cooperation, Social capital trust but also hostility
dehumanization and violence (Motyl, 2014). Through his research and others which he states he
believes that people decide to stay or create groups based on their own ideologies and migrate away
from communities where they believe they are unwelcome and not belong in the community. The

Essay Letter to John Adams from Abigail Adams
Letter to John Adams from Abigail Adams and Letter from John Adams to Abigail Adams
1.Abigail Adams establishes ethos in the opening paragraph by asking questions about the issue at
hand. By mentioning the Defense Virginia she shows that she is knowledgeable about the issue at
hand, even though she does not yet have a definite stance on it. The questions show her urgent tone
and care for her husband. The questions show that she is concerned about him and his well being.
2.Abigail tries to convey the general impact of the Revolution in Boston. She chose the details she
did to try show John Adams what has changed in Boston as a result of the Revolution. She shares
that the city is in a better condition that what she was expecting ... Show more content on

He knew it was against universal liberty; but he felt it was not right to give women such power.
7.The tone of Abigail s letter to John is more sincere than his letter to her. In her letter you can
tell that even though she does not agree with some of his stands on issues she still loves and
supports him. The tone of John s letter is dry, with not much emotion. He doesn t show much
concern for her or her ideals. The only evidence of intimacy found is when they discuss their
children. In Abigail s letter intimacy is also found when the reader finds that she misses him and
worries about him and when she says she is willing to do anything he needs.
8.If she knew he letter was to be published she probably would have probably not been as nagging
on her husband to write more than he does. She would have probably thought that other reads may
have felt she came off as clingy and sense desperation so she would have written more calmly and
collectively.
9.In a world filled with social media the line between public and private hardly exists. People
these days publish anything and everything on line, regardless of how private it should be. Of
course, there are people who don t feel the need to advertise their every thought, but most do.
Society is so desensitized to knowing everyone s business that they feel it s okay to publish what

Mexico in November. Once I arrived, I got busy. I applied for all government assistance, and
applied to every open position I could find. With in a month I was offered 3 jobs. I took two of

Beach Dinner Research Paper
Daytona Beach Dinner Time! On the very hot and humid day of June 20th, I was at my condo on
Daytona Beach. The waves were crashing onto the shore, leaving thousands of seashells behind.
When a cool breeze from the south blew, it shook the palm trees, in which my hammock was
hung. I was planning a summer party and getting the decorations ready in my condo, and I heard a
huge thud outside. I ran to my door and opened it, and there was Albert Einstein on the ground.
Around him in a circle, stood George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Justin Bieber. They looked
worried, so I ran over to see what happened. Albert was lying unresponsive in the sand. I asked,

and Ben beside each other, with Justin on the other side of the table. I sat beside George, because
I wanted to learn more about him and being the first president. I asked George Washington, So,

Daniel Boone Essay
Daniel Boone was born on October 22, 1734 and later died on September 26, 1820. He was an
American pioneer and hunter whose frontier explorations made him one of the first heroes of the
United States. Boone is most famous for his exploration and settlement of what is now the state of
Kentucky. Despite resistance from American Indians, for whom Kentuckywas a traditional hunting
ground, in 1775 Boone blazed the Wilderness Road through the Cumberland Gapand into Kentucky.
There he founded Boonesborough, one of the first English speaking settlements beyond the
Appalachian Mountains. Before the end of the 18th century, more than 200,000 people entered
Kentucky by following the route marked by Boone.

night and everybody was asleep except Daniel. He woke John Stewart and they snuck out of the
Indians sight very quickly in hopes of finding their old campsite. They finally came upon there old
camp and found that everybody was gone home.
Daniel Boone and John Stewart were alone now; well that s what they thought. Just as the two
were getting ready to leave the old camp, Daniel s brother Squire Boone and his friend came upon
the campsite in search of Daniel. They were really shock to have found each other but were happy
because they were all together now. Soon after they all met, John Stewart was captured by the
Indians and later killed and the man that came with his brother had returned home by himself. They
were now left alone out in the dangerous forests surrounded by savages all alone. They tried to
make the best out of them being alone as they could. They actually had some enjoyable times out
there together. They continued to hunt and prepared a new cottage to stay in. They remained there
unharmed until the winter, and on the first day of May, 1770, Daniel s brother returned home to the
settlement to get horses and ammunition. This left Daniel all alone, without anything to eat or

The, Indian Man And Woman Eating By Theodore De Bry
When the first time John White sailed to the North America in 1585, native americans would
never be strange to Europeans. As an artist, during his time at Roanoke Island, White drew a
number of vivid watercolors of the scenery, culture and the native people, which were published as
A Briefe and True Report of the New Found Land of Virginia. To Europeans, these works were the
most informative illustrations of North America. After these works published, an engraver, named
by Theodore De Bry, made a series of engravings directly from John White s paintings. However,
the engravings were unable to be an accurate depiction of North America. If viewers watch them
roughly, they are very similar, but there are some slight but crucial differences in detailed. The
image Indian Man and Woman Eating by John White depicts a man and a woman are seated
facing each other on a stipe of matting. There is a container with a bunch of circular fruits
between their feet. It seems that each of them is covered by a clothing made by turkey feather in
a certain style at that time. Their faces are flat with peace, but also there are some tattoos on their
faces. The man s ears are pierced by a shell ornament and the woman tied with a bead knot. Behind
them, there are standing a few plants. In the engraving Their sitting at meate created by De Bry,
there are some changes appear: their facial structure alters, which looks more like Europeans; the

Use of DNA in Criminal Investigations Essay
Before the 1980s, courts relied on testimony and eyewitness accounts as a main source of evidence.
Notoriously unreliable, these techniques have since faded away to the stunning reliability of DNA
forensics. In 1984, British geneticist Alec Jeffreys of the University of Leicester discovered an
interesting new marker in the human genome. Most DNAinformation is the same in every human,
but the junk code between genes is unique to every person. Junk DNA used for investigative
purposes can be found in blood, saliva, perspiration, sexual fluid, skin tissue, bone marrow, dental
pulp, and hair follicles (Butler, 2011). By analyzing this junk code, Jeffreys found certain
sequences of 10 to 100 base pairs repeated multiple times. These tandem... Show more content on

DNA forensics can also narrow down suspect pools, exonerate innocent suspects, and link crimes
together if the same DNA is found at both scenes. However, without existing suspects, a DNA
profile cannot direct an investigation because current knowledge of genotype phenotype relation
is too vague for DNA phenotyping. For example, a profile from a first time offender that has no
match in any database may give the information that the criminal is a left handed male of medium
stature with red hair and freckles. It would be impossible to interview every man who fits that
description. However, with available suspects, DNA forensics has many advantages over other
forms of evidence. One is the longevity of DNA. Although it will deteriorate if exposed to
sunlight, it can remain intact for centuries under proper conditions (Sachs, 2004). Because DNA is
so durable, investigators can reopen old cases to reexamine evidence.
DNA from animals and plants can also be utilized in criminal forensics. One of the most common
applications of this is the analysis of pet hair from a crime scene, which often links its owner to
the crime. DNA fingerprints have also been applied to cannabis plants, and a database is being
created to trace samples to their sources. This has been extremely successful so far, as this
technology can distinguish between closely related, carefully bred plants (Westphal, 2003). Heather

Transgressive Women In Madame Bovary
In Gustave Flaubert s, Madame Bovary (1857), the narrator illustrates the apparent sexism that
Emma Bovary, the protagonist and antihero of the novel, endures. Although Emma was at many
times a victim of her time similar to many other women in Madame Bovary, such as the elder
Madame Bovary and Madame Homais, Emma possesses a quality unlike the other female
characters in the novel. Emma Bovary acts as transgressive woman, in that she chooses to defeat the
social boundaries that repeatedly constricted her in various aspects of her life. Nevertheless, Emma

of patriarchal society. The first section of our study will explore the factors... Show more content on

In the act of attempting to conquer her emancipation, and therefore conquer Charles, she tactfully
seduces him by revealing inappropriate parts of her body, intoxicating him and impairing his
judgement with alcohol, and all the while enjoying the power that she retains during the entirety of
the process. After Emma converts Charless into her object and she no longer finds satisfaction in
her life with him, she progresses to other men whom she believes can provide her with
emancipation. Emma s accomplishment in seducing the doctor, Charles, the rich land owner,
Rodolphe, and the clerk, LГ©on, distinguishes her as a transgressive woman because the role of the
conqueror did not belong to women in the nineteenth century. Simone de Beauvoir explains in The

The Measure Of Concealed Weapons Onto College Campuses
The ability to carry concealed weapons onto college campuses has always been an area of
contention. In 1990, Congress passed the Clery Act which created gun free zones in primary and
secondary schools. Around that same time many states passed laws prohibiting weapons on college
campuses as well. (Lyons, 2017) In recent years there has been a stronger focus on college related
shootings and deaths which has re ignited the conversation regards concealed weapons on college
campuses. The most prominent political value that is in conflict with itself is freedom. The 2nd
Amendment of the United States Constitution grants citizens the right to bear arms. Many gun
rights activists believe that the right to carry weapons onto college campuses is... Show more

For opponents of concealed carry on campuses, they argue that by having guns on college
campuses, they are less free. Freedom is so ambiguous because it is completely subjective to
every individual. What makes one individual feel free might make another individual terrified.
Another political value that is in conflict with itself is security. People who are for concealed
carry at universities claim that it would be for their security. Since 2002, 64 people have been
killed in mass shootings on college campuses. (Lyons, 2016) One individual is quoted as saying
that The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun. (Lyons, 2017)
This quote conveys the feelings of many concealed carry supporters who say that they do not
feel safe being restricted as to where they can and cannot carry their personal weapon. Opponents
of this idea claim that allowing guns on college campuses would conflict with their own personal
safety. Many say that the more weapons we have on college campuses, the more likely an attack
or accident is to happen. An idea that has been tossed around would be to allow only faculty and
staff to carry concealed weapons. However, opponents still have some hesitations. Daniel Webster
of Johns Hopkins University stated that if faculty and staff were permitted to bring guns onto
college campuses, there should be ... strict rules and protocols for securing the

The Chemistry And Development Of A Current Technology Essay
Demonstrate understanding of the chemistry used in the development of a current technology
In this assessment I have chosen to research pharmaceuticals as a material that has been developed
in the last twenty years. This is a report that will demonstrate my understanding of the chemistry of
the material. In this report I shall include the historical development, the properties of the material
that makes it useful to society, whether there was experimentation or discoveries that led to its
development, any other notes and a personal opinion, and references to my findings.
The birth of the modern pharmaceutical industry trace back to two sources being apothecaries that
moved into production of drugs like morphine in the 19th century and dye and chemical companies
that established medical applications for the starting products in the 1880s and the research labs
that made it possible.
What is morphine? Morphine is pain medication; called a narcotic sometimes. This particular
medication is used to treat minor pain to extreme pain. Morphine isn t used for short term pain
after surgery; the only exception is if before surgery you were taking morphine.
Morphine is used alot in clinical pain management, especially for post surgery pain and terminal
cancer pain. Morphine has many side effects in the body including reduction of pain, loss of hunger.

In 1804, morphine was discovered when a German scientist named Friedrich SertГјrner; dissolved

Imperialism And Modernization In Japan
By the nineteenth century Western nations had developed superior military technology than other
countries. Western countries were able to control other nations by coercing them into unfair trading
treaties which would leave the country economically dependent on them. The countries rarely
resisted successfully due to their insufficient military power. This occured often Asia with only
Japan and Thailand remaining independent. Only Japan thrived however and became an imperial
power. Japan was an isolated country until the United States forcibly opened it to trade. Japan
experienced a regime change following a tumultuous time in which western nations coerced Japan
into trade treaties. The new government favored capitalismand industry which lead to Japan
industrializing impressively fast through top down government mandated modernization. Western
imperialism forced Japan to modernize in order to remain a sovereign and successful state.
Modernization in this case was synonymous with becoming more like the West. Imperialism
drastically changed Japanese economic interaction as well as Japanese culture and class system
because modernization included becoming more like the West in most aspects but their treatment
of women remained the same because the West did not treat women very differently.
Before an American naval commander opened Japan, the country was extremely isolated.
Interaction with other nations was limited. Trade was discouraged in society due to Neo Confucian

Theme Of Female Oppression In La Casa De Bernarda Alba
FEMALE OPPRRESSION IN LA CASA DE BERNARDA ALBA
Katarina Milosevic
In this essay, female oppression in La Casa de Bernarda Alba will be discussed and analyzed.
However, in order to be able to understand the importance of this theme and the impact it has had on
the play, one must first understand the role of female oppression in the Spanish society in the 1930s.
The 1930s were a period of many changes in Spain, especially because Francisco Franco started
ruling the country and the political problems that arose. Things slowly started changing for
women because of the foundation of Mujeres Libres, a female anarchist organization that fought
for female rights. Until then, the general view of women was that of Proudhon, which meant
that women were to be seen as reproducers whose role was to contribute to the society by taking
care of their household and their children . This was especially common in the rural areas of
Spain, where women could even be forced into arranged marriages against their will and almost
had no say in what happened to them. The main oppressor of La Casa de Bernarda Alba is actually

female characters in the play, but there is another element which has not been mentioned before and
it is religion. Religion, in this case Christianity, promotes chastity and discourages sex before

Monica ` S Presence In Augustine s Life
Monica s presence in the spiritual life of Augustine poignantly reveals the profundity of love
shared between a mother and her son. In the nine books in which she is mentioned, Monica makes
significant decisions that have a substantive impact on Augustine s early life. Despite being a
devout Catholic, Monica chooses to delay the baptism of her son until later in life. While this
would be unusual for a contemporary member of the Catholic church, Monica believed it was in the
best interest of Augustine to defer his baptism, allowing him to purge himself of his sinful and
ungodly desires present during his youth with baptism received at an older age. As such, Monica
minimizes the accumulation of sin that Augustine may commit after his baptism, thus allowing him

13). Early on, Augustine is unsure of the validity of his mother s decision, considering her to
have failed in her role, as he believed he would be less sinful if baptized at a younger age,
eliminating the ritual s absence as an excuse for him to continue committing sin. Augustine s
blaming Monica for not leading him on the correct spiritual path, proliferates as he grows older as
he deplores her apparent lack of effort in restraining his sexual desires. He laments, ...although she
had warned me to guard my virginity...she did not seek to restrain my sexual drive within the limit
of the marriage bond (pg. 28). However, Augustine s sentiment that his mother did not put forth
great enough effort to restrict his desire slowly dissipates, as he struggles on the path to salvation.
Augustine begins to recognize the significant role Monica played in his conversion, emphasizing
the role she played as both a physical mother and spiritual

The Importance Of Deforestation On The Environment
The world has relied on deforestation for many generations as a power source, human migration, or
clearings for agriculture. The removal of these forested areas, without sufficiently replanting or by
first incorporating proper consideration of all affected living things in the area will result in a
complete disregard of any laws protecting the habitat. In conserving natural forested areas,
economic planning, and biodiverse offsetting will help in controlling human induced acts causing
climate change and the extinction of many species of wildlife.
In 1968, Garrett Hardin, an ecologist, warned of the impact on the environment through a paper
titled The Tragedy of the Commons (Burger, Gochfeld, 1998). He writes that individuals are
forever harming the global landscape by way of blameless, or ignorant actions. The Commons
suggests increased population would degrade common resources. Thus Hardin focused on the
relationship between individual behavior and resource sustainability. While his theory works in
some cases, Garrett Hardin did not back up any of his presented evidence, but rather it was his
assumptions that have been cited throughout the years. Hardin wrote of shared resources in
England, where farming arrangements were shared by all who participated. If a farmer bought a
new cow, he would benefit however the increased hoof traffic would degrade the entire area from
overuse. Worth noting is the example Hardin brings to light is unmanaged commons. Empirically

The Role of Socialization of Children in War Essay
For over 20 years, the Lord s Resistance Army has been at war with the government of Uganda,
causing a civil war. The Army s Rebel Groups, have attacked small villages, resulting in thousands
of innocent deaths, and the abduction of children to fight with the rebels. In order to maintain these
organizations, the Rebel Groups are faced with the difficult task of recruiting individuals. With
limited available resources, the Rebel Groups cannot offer any appealing incentives to their
recruits, but require complete loyalty (Vermeij, 2009). A child s innocence, trust, and blind
obedience make them desirable soldiers. For the Rebel Groups in South Africa, children are
therefore strategically used as pawns in combat. Children under the age... Show more content on

After the complete destruction of a child s milieu, biography and history, he begins to doubt
[his] ability to influence [his] environment [or] establish an identity (Kline 2003). In search of a
new gemeinschaft, the child looks towards Rebel Groups as a way to fill this void. Consumed
by thoughts of a bleak and hopeless future, the boys find silver lining in the Rebel Leaders who
present them with a new ambition. They brainwash the boys to believe that becoming a soldier
is a way of fighting for something they believe in, and in turn, provide the boys with hope for
the future. They motivate the boys by promoting the strongest and bravest as for a goal for the
weaker to achieve. The introduction of new rights and responsibilities for the boys, shapes an
artificial civilization for the children to grow up in. The norms communicated by the army to
each boy, create a strong basis for the development of a new personal biography (Oetting 1999). It
is evident in children who have been rescued from these conditions, that they have been more
affected by the loss of their family than of their exposure to violence (Kline 2003). Oetting (1999)
further illustrates that the separation of a child from his/her family promotes aggression and allows
the child to disconnect from future ties with peers, school, and society. This

Zapzalka Farm Research Paper
The world and its great variety of places have had an impact on my life, but only one has turned
me into the person I am today. My home, Zapzalka Farms, is the foundation of my life. Who
would have thought a small farm just four miles north of the little town called Bowlus would
teach a young man so many valuable lessons about working hard and strong moral values?
Looking in from the driveway, I see the house where I grew up, the two story structure
composed of 115 year old crusty yellow concrete brick surrounded by flower beds and 50 foot
cedar trees. This house has helped me through everything, from birthday parties as a child, to
writing Comp papers as a student, I do not know where I would be without it. As I make my way

When I make my way to the end of the driveway and out of the cornfields, I become enclosed by
yellow, tin sided buildings filled with cattle and machinery. Some people may consider them
just buildings to keep the cattle from running away, or to keep the machinery dry. I look at them
and see the building blocks of my life and think of all of the memories that have been created,
and the stories that can be told. As I look around the yard one building stands out the most, the
shop. The shop is a 50x52 foot structure with 14 foot yellow tin side walls and two massive
overhead doors in the front. In between the doors is a filthy window with stringy white cobwebs
draping from the corners, which should probably be cleaned sometime soon. Above the window
hangs an old wooden sign in which my Grandpa had engraved Zapzalka Farms , along with a
miniature green tractor painted in the corner. When I walk in the door, I take a deep breath and
smell the sweet smell of grease and oil along with the blaring noise of dad using the hand

Colonialism And New Imperialism
New Imperialism was the third wave of colonial expansion, precursored by Catholic colonialism in
the sixteenth century and Mercantile colonialism in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. As
the nineteenth century began, it became apparent that Europe and the United States were the
dominant forces of the world, and that they were in control of defining global society. Proponents
of New Imperialism believed that modern expansionism was necessary for economic, political, and
cultural purposes that would benefit their own country. Furthermore, proponents also believed that
colonization would modernize and incite progress in the civilizations outside of Europe and the
United States. Nonetheless, New Imperialism established deep lines of contempt regarding Western
power, marked with violence, throughout the world. Therefore, New Imperialism was a paltry act
done by the Western world which seems to have produced little benefit. New Imperialism took place
from 1870 to 1914. The Western world, including most of Europe, the United States, and Japan,
were primed to dominate the rest of the world. The Enlightenment rationale combined with a
Romantic love of country, which resulted in an explosive combination of ferocious nationalism
(Lecture Transcript). Each country used imperialism to broaden their nations and compete with
each other. Michael Johnson stated that as nationalism grew into a more potent force in the
nineteenth century, it became the source of increased

Descriptive Essay About My First Car
My first car My journey begun on a spring day, when my boyfriend at that time now my husband
said that is right time to buy a car. Even though I was 23 at that moment, I had a feeling like I
will be so independent despite the fact that from the age of 18 years old I didn t live with my
parents ,I traveled in Europe by myself and I was already an independent person. In contrast
with the US, in Russia the minimum age to drive a car is 18 years old but there is no much in a
car because the public transportation is cheaper and more convenient because it is close to
every location that you may need as well as lack of parking spots that make parking seem
endless. On the top of disadvantages, is the stereotype that the worst drivers in Russia are
females? These were my reasons why I started to drive only at 23, the perfect age when I just
moved to US. The thought that I will have a car, my own car, made me feel very confident in
myself. Thinking about my future first car made me so happy like I were a child expecting for
Christmas gifts, unwrapping the presents without any idea about what is inside of the box.
Unlike a child, I knew what is inside of the box, something that suits my budget, around 2 or 3
thousands. I was searching a car not for its shape, color or model but by my budget. As every first
car owners I wanted car that will be cheap in maintenance, with the lowest gas mileage ,new inside
and outside and with a clean title. My dreams were destroyed very fast, at the

Child Abuse and Neglect Essay example
Child abuse is the intentional omission of care by a parent or guardian that can cause a child to
be hurt, maimed, or even killed. Child abuse can be either physical, mental, emotional or sexual.
Because of child abuse, Caprice Ried will never do the things that a normal four year old does. She
will never play on a playground, or go to a sleepover, and never go to school. All of this was taken
away from her at such a young age, when she died of child abuse. The foster parents, Patricia
Coker, and her mother Betty Coker have been charged with second degree murder for Caprice s
death. Caprice went without food for days. She was also tied to a chair and beaten with a stickuntil
she couldn t walk.

With more than 6.6 million children under the age of 18 living in alcoholic households, and an
additional number of children living in households where parents have problems with illicit
drugs, a significant number of children in this country are being raised by addicted parents.
Child maltreatment has become a national epidemic. More than one million children are
confirmed each year as victims of child abuse and neglect by state child protective service
agencies. Every day at least three children die as a result of abuse or neglect. State child welfare
records indicate that substance abuse is one of the top two problems exhibited by families in 81%
of the reported cases. Recent research on the connection between alcohol or drug problems and
child maltreatment clearly indicates a connection between the two problems. Among confirmed
cases of child maltreatment, 40% involve the use of alcohol or other drugs.
This suggests that of the 1.2 million confirmed victims of child maltreatment, and estimated
480,000 children are mistreated each year by a caretaker with alcohol or other drug problems.
Additionally, research suggests that alcohol and other drug problems are factors in a majority of
cases of emotional abuse and neglect. In fact, neglect is the major reason that children are removed
from a home in which parents have alcohol or other drug problems. Children

Positive Effects Of Dental Implantation
Smoking cigarettes has a negative effect on a patient s oral health. A patient who smokes is twice
more likely to develop periodontal disease than a non smoker (Center for Disease Control and
Prevention, 2015). For patients who have lost teeth, dental implant can be a great solution. Dental
implants are pure titanium cylindrical posts which are placed in the maxilla or mandible on patients
to replace missing teeth. As healing occurs, a successful dental implant will osseointegrate into the
patient s bone creating a strong foundations for the replacement of teeth. With any surgical
procedure there are risk factors. Cigarette smoking may affect healing, therefore jeopardizing the
success rate of dental implantation. Studies have shown a direct... Show more content on

Dental implants are an excellent long term option for patients in good health who have lost teeth. A
prospective study published in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants
reviewed two hundred and twenty three Branemark dental implants placed in seventy eight patients
by the same surgeon. The study showed that patients who followed the smoking cessation protocol
had a significantly higher success rate of osseointegration than that of patient who smoked during
the early stages of dental implant placement. Smoking has been shown to compromise a patient s
healing potential after the initial implant placement (Williams, 1994). According to a study
published in the International Journal of Oral Implantology, there is a direct relationship between
patient who smoke and the failure rates of dental implants. The study conducted evaluated two
thousand one hundred and ninety four Nobel implants. The implants were placed by one surgeon
on five hundred and forty patients over a six year period. The study showed an 11.28% failure rate
of the Nobel dental implant osseointegration on smoking patients, as opposed to 4.76% failure rate

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Edward Murrow s Speech
In any type of society, speeches have a great impact on the public audience and their views on
different issues. Especially in a dystopian world, sometimes what the people need is a speech to
give them hope and motivation to encourage them to fight for what they believe in. Living in a
dystopian society in Great Britain, V struggles against the government and delivers a well though
out speechto the general public to address his main concerns. In a similar yet distinct way,
American Journalist Edward Murrow also directs a message through a radio broadcasting of his
opinions on the use of television in society. Both speeches bring revolutionary perspectives to light
and highlight the relevant problem the people are facing in that world.

competing against the government. Comparably, Murrow also persuades his own audience by
directly calling upon their efforts to see the importance of knowledge: let us exalt the importance of

thinking that information is something that is crucial to a part of their everyday

How Did Scout Set A Watchman
Have you ever felt like you wee never afraid to speak your mind? That is what Jean Louise
Finch(Scout) felt like throughout this book. It is full of old things that Scout has missed out on,
and worse things yet to come. Go Set a watchman was written by the now deceased Harper Lee.
This book shows what the south is all about: money and drama.
The setting of this book is Alabama. It is mainly the town we know and love called Maycomb.
The time period is the 1950 s. The town has changed a lot from her childhood home being torn
apart to Finch s Landing being sold to a hunting club. i believe Lee chose this sort of setting to
show what the south was really like during this time period, considering she based this book off of
her experiences.
The main character of this book was the girl who never seemed to get out of old habits that we

Lee gives this message off by showing that these situations actually do happen in real life and it
not your regular fiction story. an example of this is when Jean Louise proves to attics that she
has grown up and can fight for what she believes in. I think that Lee wanted to show people that
life was harder than you think in that time period. Most people try to forget, but she kept it alive
to remind us that we can t change history. This book was different than I expected to be. Since
Harper lee did not have much say in this book being released, it was forced upon her and It was not
as good as To Kill a Mockingbird. It did not hold my Interest as much as I thought it would. I have
always enjoyed Lee s way of writing and I am glad she decided to switch the person up a bit from
first to third. I would recommend this book to a friend only to read it and seeing what it is all
about. i would do this only because I didn t like it very much as I mentioned before. I did enjoy

International Adoption Crisis Should Not Be A Viable Adoption
International Adoption Crisis
The image of an American family has changed dramatically over the last fifty years. American
families are no longer modeled after the Cleavers. International adoption has contributed to this
changing family view, bringing in children who are not biologically related to their parents and
often of a different race. This new American image has helped eliminate race related issues. So,
what is the controversy with international adoption? Children are the future of a country; children
are human resources. If a country is losing their children to international adoption; the county is
losing the gifts and talents that are irreplaceable in those children. Intercountry adoption should not
be a viable adoption source because this process does not adequately benefit those involved,
international adoption exploits poor children and hurts their countries of origin. International
adoption takes children out of their countries, and this can lead to the risk of alienating children.
Parents that adopt foreign children may be ill equipped or uneducated in their adopted child s
culture and this can steer the loss of the child s cultural identity. Culturally, we pass on our values
and beliefs through our family structure; our heritage is part of our identity. People who are raised
in another country could miss out on learning about their ethnic heritage. Medical writer Meg
Brannagan claims internationally adopted children question where their place is in a

Leadership Theory Analysis And Application
Leadership Theory Analysis and Application
There are many different leadership theories that have been proposed, tested, and studied over the
years. Many organizations utilize these theories and practices to collect and analyze data within
their own organizations which may allow them to find ways of increasing the effectiveness of their
company. Although there are not any theories deemed completely perfect in leadership, many have
been given lots of validity based on the and studies done involving them. This paper will analyze
and discuss different leadership theories including; the contingency theory, the transformational
theory, and the leader member exchange theory. This paper will also discuss the most effective
leadership theory in a current organization.
Contingency Theory
The Contingency Theory is a theory based on the notion that the effectiveness of a leader is
correlated with the leadership style of that leader and the situation in which they are presented
with (Northouse, 2013). Contingency theory suggests that there are two different leadership
styles, one is relationship motivated, and the other is task motivated. These styles are measured
by the LPC (least preferred coworker) scale created by Fiedler, which gives the leaders a score.
The leaders that score low on the scale are considered to be task motivated leaders, while the ones
that score high are considered to be relationship motivated (Northouse, 2013). Within this theory

The, The Inner World Of The Outcast
Essay 1: Fantastical Realities in the works of Tim Burton I get so tired of people saying, Oh,
you only make fantasy films and this and that , I m like Well no, fantasy is reality , that s what
Lewis Carroll showed in his work, spoke animator, writer, producer, and director Tim Burton in
regards to the themes of depression, isolation, and fear within his collection of work. Influenced by
Gothic fiction and the art and film movements of Expressionism, Surrealism, and Noir, Burton
crafts the inner world of the outcast and explores the ideas of Jungian and Freudian psychoanalysis
in his films, particularly in Vincent (1982), Beetlejuice (1988), and Edward Scissorhands(1990).
This paper will explore Burton s aesthetics of chiaroscuro lighting, color symbolism, and
composition to recreate the realism of human emotions through the eyes of a misunderstood
character s solitude in a highly fantastical world. Burton breaks conventions of narrative Hollywood
cinema and focuses less on the script, but largely on the psyche of the character and the visual outer
world that portrays their inner anxieties. Although, Burton s films are directly influenced by the
work of Fritz Lang, F.W. Murnau, Robert Wiene, and Salvador Dali, he creates his own auteur style
by mapping out the psychological journey of his characters through symbolic hand drawn concept
and costume designs that mirrors his own struggles of displacement throughout his life. In Tim
Burton s 1982 debut children s horror

Ernest Hemingway Masculinity
Despite portraying a great sense of masculinity, many of Ernest Hemingway s works are inspired by
his romantic relationships.
At eighteen, Hemingway first fell in love and had his first heartbreak. At twenty two, he married
for the first time, but not the last. Hemingway had four marriages, three of which failed, and one
that lasted until his suicide in 1961. He was never without a woman, and often had affairs.
Most people never forget their first love, and that was very much the case with Ernest Hemingway.
In his short story The Snows of Kilimanjaro, published first in 1936 and again after his death, the
protagonist drifts in and out of consciousness while slowly dying from gangrene after an accident
during and African safari. His thoughts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hemingway wrote to her every day, but his depression grew deeper as replies from Agnes
slowly dwindled. That March, he received a letter from her where she dismissed their love, and
told him that she had met with another man whom she wanted to marry. Suddenly the future that
he envisioned, the one which included her, crumbled, and he was devastated. A few years later
he wrote A Very Short Story, about young, injured soldier and a nurse who meet at a military
hospital in Italy. The couple falls in love, just like Ernest and Agnes did, and plan to marry. The
soldier returns to the United States to get a job to support the couple, but she sends a letter telling
him that she fell in love with another man, claiming that their love had been only a boy and girl
affair (McDaniels 37 38).
A Very Short Story and The Snows of Kilimanjaro both describe relationships that are similar to
Hemingway s loss of Agnes. Della Yanuzzi claims in her book Ernest Hemingway: Writer and
Adventurer that Catherine Berkley in Hemingway s A Farewell to Arms, where there is a
romance between a soldier and a nurse like A Very Short Story, is also based off of Agnes (22).
She had a great effect on him, enough to occasionally float into his works years after the relationship

Big Fish And Atonement Comparative Essay
The two movies Atonement and Big Fish are very similar although at first, the average viewer
would not normally acknowledge it. The two movies seem very different, from the calm narration
of the historical fiction movie Atonement and the wild extreme imagery that the narrators from Big
Fish, a fantasy drama film, expelled to the audience. Yet the narrators from these two movies are
the aspects that make these films similar. The film Atonement at first seemed like it had four
different narrators, Briony Tallis as a child, Briony Tallis as a young adult, Cecilia Tallis and
Robbie. Brioney as a child ,who narrates most of the beginning of the movie, seemed like an
unreliable narrator once the same event was retold later in the story by a different narrator who...

The major point in the story where a viewer can infer than Briony is an unreliable narrator was
during Briony s brother s welcome home dinner party. In this particular part in the film Briony s
two twin cousins, who came to stay with the Tallis family since their parents were getting
divorced, ran away and all the guests at the dinner party went searching for Briony s two cousins
in the dark. When Briony was searching for her cousins she flashed her flashlight towards the
ground and saw the two twin boys older sister that was staying with them, Lola, being raped by a
man. Briony tells Lola she saw the man s face who raped her and told her family that the man
who raped Lola was Robbie. Briony essentially ruins Robbie s life because of this rape allegation

Machines In America
Since the early 1900 s, when the industrial age began, we have been creating machines to
increase profit and productivity, essentially taking jobs to make life easier for companies and
their shareholders. With these new machines being implemented, it took away many jobs from
American and immigrant workers alike. Are these machines a blight, or a blessing? 100 years
later, we have many more machines, taking/automating many more positions. Can we have a
society where machines do all menial jobs (jobs that require little to no skill). Currently, many
jobs that are automated now, were previously done by human workers, such as Bank teller to ATM

Crack Act Essay
The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act is a controversial
initiative in the United States that grants minor immigrants residency in the country and ensures
that their educational needs are met. While the act has claimed to be beneficial to a certain portion
of the population, it is widely argued that the program s cost effectiveness and societal effects have
been unproven since its inception, and therefore; an alternative program is needed to fulfill the gap.

history and facts about its enactment and its effects on program beneficiaries and mainstream

As a result, the act has been revised many times and remained unpassed since its original
introduction in 2001. The bill came close to passing after debates in the Senate and the House in
2010, coming eight votes short and enduring a filibuster. The bill has been promoted by some
advocates as a way to fulfill the military shortage crisis and has helped some states clarify
residency status for the purpose of funding higher education and setting in state tuition levels
(Forenza and Mendonca 292). Since the act remained unpassed, a more restricted variation known
as DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) came into effect instead, which offered limited
status for alien minors who attended high school or entered higher education. However, these
revisions have not led to any formal policy on educational assistance and/or residency status for
alien minors. Several attempts have been made to include text from the proposed bill into other
pieces of legislation, such as those involving comprehensive immigration reform or within the
Department of Defense (Hing 54). The bill has received favor from military leaders, but has been
criticized by many other social institutions for being too lenient and susceptible to abuse or
violation (Hing 55). The following section includes a discussion of viewpoints

A Comparison Of Vietnam And Martin Luther King s Speech
War is often seen as a sensitive and debatable topic and one of the most controversial wars to
have ever been fought was the Vietnam War. In Lyndon B, Johnson s Speech on Vietnam
(September 29.1967) and Martin Luther King s speech, Why I am opposed to the War in Vietnam
we are offered two different perspectives on this matter. While Johnson provides reasoning on why
we should fight the war, it is King s speech that shows a more compassionate side to Vietnamthat I
agree with. Kings speech offered many relevant points but the one that stood out and made me
strongly support him was him pointing out the unfairness that affects American citizens. But it is

Cuban Revolution Source Analysis
After analysing all of the source s mentioned above, it is evident that all three authors have very
diverse perspectives on the Cuban Revolution. Whilst it may seem to Source A s audience that the
author (Alistair Cooke) is simply trying to inform the American public of Castro s leadership after
examination, it seems as though they are trying to brainwash readers into rebelling against Castro.
Thus, the Source is considered anti Castro. Comparatively, in Source B, Herbert L. Matthews
reports on an exclusive interview with Castro s best lieutenants, Major Che Guevarato present the
audience an anecdote which portrays a strong sense of patriotism, pride and authority which are all
factors that present the audience with Matthews pro Castro perspective. Additionally, Source C s

Presentation script Bibliography
Monday 20th April
Hello, as you all may know my names Ami Watson.
Today s presentation will offer you an insight into my exploration of dreams and the influences they
offer our creative stimulus in response to photography.
Throughout this presentation I aim to offer you all an insight into the world of surrealism and
dreams.
Firstly I will introduce you to the surrealist movement and some relevant themes with surrealist art.
Then explore the defined states of consciousness, moving into explaining what a dream is. Next will
be a brief touch on what influences visual stimulating tools have upon art, flowing through to
surrealism and dreams. Here I will talk about the contrasting views of the surrealist and Freudian
opinions of dream definition and expression.
After I will produce a few artists who have used dreams to influence their creativity within bodies
of work, each using different aspects of dreams as a tool. And to wrap up my exploration I will
produce my conclusion on the matter and express how this body of research has influenced me
within my own photography. Thank you for listening, I hope you enjoy.
Introduction to the surrealist movement

potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the juxtaposition of

Richard III Foreshadowing Analysis
Shakespeare uses foreshadowing in Richard III, to show the reader the fate of each characters.
For every character we see some type of foreshadowing that predicts their future. We see
foreshadowing in Margaret s curses, Anne s curses, Richard and Richmond s dreams, and the
prophetic dream of Clarence. Shakespeare uses curses as a big part of foreshadowing. He uses
Margaret s and Anne s curses to foreshadow the fate of the main characters. Almost every character
in Richard IIIfalls to the fate of Margaret s curses. In Act 1 of the play Margaret curses King
Edward, Queen Elizabeth, Edward Prince of Wales, Rivers, Dorset, Lord Hastings, and finally
Richard of Gloucester. Margaret curses King Edward with death due to eating too much, Rivers,
Dorset, and Lord Hastings are cursed with death by an unexpected accident, Edward Prince of
Wales is cursed with death, and Queen Elizabeth is cursed with living a miserable life like
Margaret. All of these curses foreshadow the fate of these characters. Margaret concludes her curses
on the York s with Richard saying:
The worm of conscience still begnaw thy soul.
Thy friends suspect for traitors while thou liv st,
And take deep traitors for thy dearest friends.
No sleep close up that deadly eye of thine,
Unless it be while some tormenting dream

The night before Clarence is murdered; he has a dream of Richard pushing him overboard a ship
to his death. Even though, that is not how Clarence is murdered, he is murdered by two men that
were hired by Richard. Also, after they stab him, they place him in a barrel of wine. In his dream
he dreamt that he died by drowning and that is sort of what happened. Shakespeare once again uses
foreshadowing to give readers a clue about what is going to happen to the character,

Analysis Of Into The Wild By Christopher Krakauer
A biography is a work written about another person s life. A standard biography only discusses the
life of a single person. Krakauer s biography, Into the Wild, retains the standard convention of
describing the life story of the main person, but also include accounts of other people including
himself and slight difference on how he wrote the biography to justify Chris s choices.
Krakauer focuses his book on Christopher McCandless just like any other biography. Krakauer
tells the story of how Chris made his way and became ready for his time in Alaska to carry out his
dream. Unlike most biographies, rather than starting at the beginning of Chris s life, Krakauer
chose to start with the end. Krakauer begins with the last known events of what happened to Chris
s life. By starting with Chris s death, Krakauer adds an air of mystery that intrigues the reader. In
interesting the reader, Krakauer gets the reader to read the rest of the book to find out more of what
happened. This gives Krakauer the opportunity to defend Chris. Also, in a conventional biography,
the author tries to remain unbiased and tells what happened without trying to convince the reader
about something. In Into the Wild, Krakauer himself admits that is very biased and sympathizes
with Chris in the author s note. This means that Krakauer actively tries to convince the reader of
something about Chris and make them understand.
Krakauer diverges from standard conventions with the story Everett Ruess.

From Vendetta to Revolution Essay
V for Vendetta directed by James McTeique, is a movie that shows how one person can change
government and the rules that a government should abide by. The story takes place in a futuristic
setting of Great Britain. Evey Hammond, portrayed by Natalie Portman, is approached and
questioned by the government s patrol team called Fingermen. Evey soon realizes that she is in
trouble and is rescued by the masked vigilante known as V, portrayed by Hugo Weaving. Evey,
after being saved, goes with V as he demonstrates his hatred for the fascist government by blowing

V for Vendetta is a film that contains strong character types but diverts from the original graphic
novel; however, it still presents a powerful message about government. Strong characters can
either make or break a movie. V for Vendetta is a movie that isn t short of strong character types.
V s character type is a complex one to say the least. He is a terrorist, anarchist, philosopher and a
lover of freedom and chaos. At first people might think how the protagonist of a movie can be a
terrorist and still be good, but this factor is what sets V apart from traditional heroes. It is the
fact that the world he lives in is so corrupt and power hungry that he can destroy building and still
be considered a hero. V is the epitome of the phrase one man s terrorist is another man s freedom
fighter . The character of Evey is equally complex. In the beginning of the movie Evey is a young,
shy girl who, through a series of events, lives with V and starts to understand his ideologies, and his
romance with anarchy. Evey represents the ignorance in everyone. She never acknowledges, before
meeting V, that there isn t anything wrong with the government she lives under. Only through
understanding and intimidation does she truly realize what it s like to live without fear. Secondary
characters types are equally important. V s driving force throughout the whole movie is his
vendetta against certain party leaders

The Feminization Of Poverty Trend And Black And White...
To address and answer the question being asked in this paper, I could use the same methodology
Low talks about in his paper. To be able to answer how much the feminization of poverty trend
and black and white inequality trend can explain the U.S wealth distribution, I would use the
same regression model lows uses. Instead of just looking at blacks versus whites, I will look at
female headed households versus male headed household too. Similar to Low s paper, I will use
the Binder Oaxaca decomposition to document the difference in wealth earnings if male headed
households receives the female variables and vice versa. I hope to find that some of the wealth
distribution can be explained by the variable differences between the male and female headed
household. I expect the difference will only be noticeable towards the bottom of the
distribution, probably below top 50%. The difference in median household incomes between
whites and blacks has grown from about $19,000 in 1967 to roughly $27,000 in 2011. Median
black household income was 59% of median white household income in 2011, up modestly from
55% in 1967; as recently as 2007, black income was 63% of white income. As of 2015, relative to
the average hourly wages of white men with the same education, experience, metro status, and
region of residence, black men make 22.0 percent less, and black women make 34.2 percent less.
Black women earn 11.7 percent less than their white female counterparts. The widening gap has not

MHPA Research Paper
The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, also known as MHPAEA is defined
as a federal law that prevents group health plans and health insurance issuers that provide mental
health or substance use disorder benefits from imposing less favorable benefit limitations on those

Originally, MHPAEA applied only to group health plans and group health insurance

The Pros And Cons Of The Homeland Security System
The homeland security system of the United States has a seemingly impossible task of preventing
all attacks on each and every aspect of our country. It is an extremely dangerous world we live in
with countless number of people that want to destroy our way of life. There have been several
improvements made to our securitysystem. To fully critique the capabilities of the homeland
security system of the United States, I m going to evaluate the performance, identify the
shortcomings, and then lastly suggest some improvements to prevent future challenges.
One of the best way to critique the capabilities of something is to look at the facts, and the patterns
that have occurred. Since the creation of the Department of Homeland Security as we know ... Show

We need to be much more selective on who enters this country. Especially when there are other
countries are in the middle of a civil war, leaving the world with millions of refugees to deal
with. Our borders lack the security needed to ensure no one enters the country illegally. After
these two have been accomplished we have stopped the bleeding , and only then we will be able
to limit the amount of lone wolf attackers in our country. Neither of these two strategies effect
our civil liberties that are protected by the constitution. After we have done as much as we
possibly can to eliminate an outside threat, we need to try and stand united. We need strong
leaders in every level of government to keep us focused on who the real enemy is. Lastly, we
need to figure out a strategy of identifying who U.S. citizens are mentally ill and need medical
attention. The last thing we need is a medically ill person driving when they shouldn t be, or
purchasing firearms when they should be. A friend or a loved one should be able to recognize an
issue and alert the proper authorities before something tragic happens.
If we are going to improve the future of the homeland security system, we have to stay one step
ahead. We have to do our best at predicting where the enemy is going to be. We have to realize
where our greatest vulnerabilities are. We have to constantly evaluate our system, and try to
prioritize how are defensive assets are

Similarities Between Scope And Scope
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007 once said: In a democracy, the
well being, individuality, and happiness of every citizen are important for the overall prosperity,
peace, and happiness of the nation. This quote perfectly explains the two of the most different
pieces of literature. Anthem by Ayn Randand the movie Rope by Alfred Hitchcock. Anthem is in a
dystopia where the word I was not used nor was Ego . They live in almost the dark ages with no
electricity or a democracy. Everyone works for each other and if you were slightly different from
the rest you were punished. But one man came out of the trance and realized what was happening,
that equality and individuality were nowhere to be found. On the other hand Rope was taken place
in the late 40 s. But Rope was about men who thoughtbecause they were superior and rules do not
apply to them like murder. Ayn Rand Anthem and Alfred Hitchcock Rope have very different views
of how an individual should view himself.
Rand believes that individuality is key for a society to work. In her book, she said For the
coming of that day shall I fight, I and my sons and my chosen friends. For the freedom of Man.
For his rights. For his life. For his honor. Rand protagonist just got out of a community where you
could not think for yourself and now he is able to say I without fearing death. Rand was able to
show how inequality can change a person whole understanding of life. Now her protagonist wants
more citizens to know this thing called individuality.
But in the beginning, you had brothers who all thought of each other as equals and if you even
liked someone in the sightless you would be punished. This is an evil thing to say, for it is a
transgression, the great transgression of Preference, to love any among men better than the
others, since we must love all men and all men are our friends this is what a community was for
Rand s protagonist. Not thinking about yourself, but thinking about the good of the group. You
grew up with only your brothers, no dad nor mom. No grandkids or freedom. You did the same
thing every day for 7 days a week. And if you ever made it aware that one brother is your favorite
than another

  • 3. Catholics In The Elizabethan Era Catholics in the Elizabethan Era The Elizabethan Era took place in the years 1558 to 1603 and was marked in history as The Golden Age . It took place during the beginning of the Renaissance, and sparked a growth in the areas of art, music and literature. Despite all of the wonderful things that may have come from this time period, the Elizabethan Era was a time of imprisonment, torture and prejudice for English Catholics. The main religions of the time were Protestant and Catholic, which are both denominations of Christianity. Both Catholics and Protestants have very strong belief system, which meant that when exposed to the corruption of the reign of Queen Elizabeth, there was often violence and tension between the two groups. Catholics believe that Priests are the link between God and the people, and the popewas ordained by God. Priests in the Catholic Church were believed to be special, and were expected to devote their lives to God. The Priests wore elaborate robes and the church was often elaborately decorated, as they believed that churches were a way to celebrate God. Protestants believe that people can find God without a priest or pope, and that priests were ordinary people who should live ordinary lives. They believed that since the Church was a place to concentrate on God, it should be plain, allowing people to concentrate on the sermons. Queen Mary I ruled before Queen Elizabeth and was her half sister. Mary was adamant to restore England back to Catholicism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Influence On Japanese Ukiyo-E Prints Ukiyo e significantly influenced contemporary Japanese prints (kindai hanga). Such an impact can be directly observed when comparing the Nakamura Utaemon as Tonase contemporary print (1984) by Tsuruya Kokei with Toshusai Sharaku s Segawa Tomisaburo as Yadorigi ukiyo e (1794 1795). Both of these prints can be categorized as okubi e, which are Japanese woodblock prints that feature up close portraits of their subjects by concentrating on the face and upper torso. They also depict a famous kabuki actor as the character that he is well known for playing. Other than having a similar subject matter and an identical portrayal of it, the simple, plain background, bright colors, and sense of flatness generally found in ukiyo eare employed in Kokei s ... • 5. Liberals And Conservatives Are Divided Dividing Essay The main purpose of the article by Matt Motyl titled, Liberals and conservatives are (geographically) dividing is that political parties affiliations are dividing the U.S. This can be seen through the locations many Americans live such as liberals going to more urban areas as opposed to the conservatives to go to less populated areas in rural states (Motyl, 2014). The author uses the Ideological Enclavement Theory to explain the division of people in the U.S through ideological segregated enclaves (Motyl, 2014). In this theory, there are two components which he states, People have gut level intuitions about the ideology of different enclaves, and when the ideology if a community matches people s personal ideology, people infer that they would fit into that community. Second, when people have the opportunity to do so, they will selectively migrate into enclaves that share their ideology (Motyl, 2014). He then further breaks down the theory to the consequences that emerge from this division in three categories which stem from the idea of belonging through the self such as migration, well being and cognitive style and Intergroup through cooperation, Social capital trust but also hostility dehumanization and violence (Motyl, 2014). Through his research and others which he states he believes that people decide to stay or create groups based on their own ideologies and migrate away from communities where they believe they are unwelcome and not belong in the community. By mentioning the Defense Virginia she shows that she is knowledgeable about the issue at hand, even though she does not yet have a definite stance on it. The questions show her urgent tone and care for her husband. The questions show that she is concerned about him and his well being. 2.Abigail tries to convey the general impact of the Revolution in Boston. He knew it was against universal liberty; but he felt it was not right to give women such power. 7.The tone of Abigail s letter to John is more sincere than his letter to her. In her letter you can tell that even though she does not agree with some of his stands on issues she still loves and supports him. The tone of John s letter is dry, with not much emotion. He doesn t show much concern for her or her ideals. The only evidence of intimacy found is when they discuss their children. In Abigail s letter intimacy is also found when the reader finds that she misses him and worries about him and when she says she is willing to do anything he needs. 8.If she knew he letter was to be published she probably would have probably not been as nagging on her husband to write more than he does. She would have probably thought that other reads may have felt she came off as clingy and sense desperation so she would have written more calmly and collectively. 9.In a world filled with social media the line between public and private hardly exists. People these days publish anything and everything on line, regardless of how private it should be. Of course, there are people who don t feel the need to advertise their every thought, but most do. The waves were crashing onto the shore, leaving thousands of seashells behind. When a cool breeze from the south blew, it shook the palm trees, in which my hammock was hung. I was planning a summer party and getting the decorations ready in my condo, and I heard a huge thud outside. I ran to my door and opened it, and there was Albert Einstein on the ground. Despite resistance from American Indians, for whom Kentuckywas a traditional hunting ground, in 1775 Boone blazed the Wilderness Road through the Cumberland Gapand into Kentucky. There he founded Boonesborough, one of the first English speaking settlements beyond the Appalachian Mountains. Daniel Boone and John Stewart were alone now; well that s what they thought. Just as the two were getting ready to leave the old camp, Daniel s brother Squire Boone and his friend came upon the campsite in search of Daniel. They were really shock to have found each other but were happy because they were all together now. Soon after they all met, John Stewart was captured by the Indians and later killed and the man that came with his brother had returned home by himself. They were now left alone out in the dangerous forests surrounded by savages all alone. They tried to make the best out of them being alone as they could. They actually had some enjoyable times out there together. They continued to hunt and prepared a new cottage to stay in. They remained there unharmed until the winter, and on the first day of May, 1770, Daniel s brother returned home to the settlement to get horses and ammunition. This left Daniel all alone, without anything to eat or anybody to help him hunt or protect himself. While his brother was gone, Daniel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The, Indian Man And Woman Eating By Theodore De Bry When the first time John White sailed to the North America in 1585, native americans would never be strange to Europeans. As an artist, during his time at Roanoke Island, White drew a number of vivid watercolors of the scenery, culture and the native people, which were published as A Briefe and True Report of the New Found Land of Virginia. To Europeans, these works were the most informative illustrations of North America. After these works published, an engraver, named by Theodore De Bry, made a series of engravings directly from John White s paintings. However, the engravings were unable to be an accurate depiction of North America. If viewers watch them roughly, they are very similar, but there are some slight but crucial differences in detailed. The image Indian Man and Woman Eating by John White depicts a man and a woman are seated facing each other on a stipe of matting. There is a container with a bunch of circular fruits between their feet. It seems that each of them is covered by a clothing made by turkey feather in a certain style at that time. Their faces are flat with peace, but also there are some tattoos on their faces. The man s ears are pierced by a shell ornament and the woman tied with a bead knot. Behind them, there are standing a few plants. In the engraving Their sitting at meate created by De Bry, there are some changes appear: their facial structure alters, which looks more like Europeans; the muscle and right curve on their bodies are ... • 12. Use of DNA in Criminal Investigations Essay Before the 1980s, courts relied on testimony and eyewitness accounts as a main source of evidence. Notoriously unreliable, these techniques have since faded away to the stunning reliability of DNA forensics. In 1984, British geneticist Alec Jeffreys of the University of Leicester discovered an interesting new marker in the human genome. Most DNAinformation is the same in every human, but the junk code between genes is unique to every person. Junk DNA used for investigative purposes can be found in blood, saliva, perspiration, sexual fluid, skin tissue, bone marrow, dental pulp, and hair follicles (Butler, 2011). By analyzing this junk code, Jeffreys found certain sequences of 10 to 100 base pairs repeated multiple times. These tandem... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DNA forensics can also narrow down suspect pools, exonerate innocent suspects, and link crimes together if the same DNA is found at both scenes. However, without existing suspects, a DNA profile cannot direct an investigation because current knowledge of genotype phenotype relation is too vague for DNA phenotyping. For example, a profile from a first time offender that has no match in any database may give the information that the criminal is a left handed male of medium stature with red hair and freckles. It would be impossible to interview every man who fits that description. However, with available suspects, DNA forensics has many advantages over other forms of evidence. One is the longevity of DNA. Although it will deteriorate if exposed to sunlight, it can remain intact for centuries under proper conditions (Sachs, 2004). Because DNA is so durable, investigators can reopen old cases to reexamine evidence. DNA from animals and plants can also be utilized in criminal forensics. One of the most common applications of this is the analysis of pet hair from a crime scene, which often links its owner to the crime. DNA fingerprints have also been applied to cannabis plants, and a database is being created to trace samples to their sources. This has been extremely successful so far, as this technology can distinguish between closely related, carefully bred plants (Westphal, 2003). Heather Miller Coyle of the Connecticut ... • 13. Transgressive Women In Madame Bovary In Gustave Flaubert s, Madame Bovary (1857), the narrator illustrates the apparent sexism that Emma Bovary, the protagonist and antihero of the novel, endures. Although Emma was at many times a victim of her time similar to many other women in Madame Bovary, such as the elder Madame Bovary and Madame Homais, Emma possesses a quality unlike the other female characters in the novel. Emma Bovary acts as transgressive woman, in that she chooses to defeat the social boundaries that repeatedly constricted her in various aspects of her life. Nevertheless, Emma also shares qualities with the other female characters, in as much as she contributes the perpetuation of patriarchal society. In the act of attempting to conquer her emancipation, and therefore conquer Charles, she tactfully seduces him by revealing inappropriate parts of her body, intoxicating him and impairing his judgement with alcohol, and all the while enjoying the power that she retains during the entirety of the process. After Emma converts Charless into her object and she no longer finds satisfaction in her life with him, she progresses to other men whom she believes can provide her with emancipation. Emma s accomplishment in seducing the doctor, Charles, the rich land owner, Rodolphe, and the clerk, LГ©on, distinguishes her as a transgressive woman because the role of the conqueror did not belong to women in the nineteenth century. Simone de Beauvoir explains in The Second Sex that, Man encounters Nature; he has a hold on it, he tries to appropriate it for himself (159). De Beauvoir also explains that, Woman is her husband s prey, his property (171). Emma deviates from the women of her time period because she not only has the ability to appropriate men for herself, but she also takes pleasure in using men. In 1990, Congress passed the Clery Act which created gun free zones in primary and secondary schools. Around that same time many states passed laws prohibiting weapons on college campuses as well. (Lyons, 2017) In recent years there has been a stronger focus on college related shootings and deaths which has re ignited the conversation regards concealed weapons on college campuses. For opponents of concealed carry on campuses, they argue that by having guns on college campuses, they are less free. Freedom is so ambiguous because it is completely subjective to every individual. What makes one individual feel free might make another individual terrified. Another political value that is in conflict with itself is security. People who are for concealed carry at universities claim that it would be for their security. Since 2002, 64 people have been killed in mass shootings on college campuses. (Lyons, 2016) One individual is quoted as saying that The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun. (Lyons, 2017) This quote conveys the feelings of many concealed carry supporters who say that they do not feel safe being restricted as to where they can and cannot carry their personal weapon. Opponents of this idea claim that allowing guns on college campuses would conflict with their own personal safety. Many say that the more weapons we have on college campuses, the more likely an attack or accident is to happen. An idea that has been tossed around would be to allow only faculty and staff to carry concealed weapons. However, opponents still have some hesitations. The Chemistry And Development Of A Current Technology Essay Demonstrate understanding of the chemistry used in the development of a current technology In this assessment I have chosen to research pharmaceuticals as a material that has been developed in the last twenty years. This is a report that will demonstrate my understanding of the chemistry of the material. In this report I shall include the historical development, the properties of the material that makes it useful to society, whether there was experimentation or discoveries that led to its development, any other notes and a personal opinion, and references to my findings. The birth of the modern pharmaceutical industry trace back to two sources being apothecaries that moved into production of drugs like morphine in the 19th century and dye and chemical companies that established medical applications for the starting products in the 1880s and the research labs that made it possible. What is morphine? Morphine is pain medication; called a narcotic sometimes. This particular medication is used to treat minor pain to extreme pain. Morphine isn t used for short term pain after surgery; the only exception is if before surgery you were taking morphine. Morphine is used alot in clinical pain management, especially for post surgery pain and terminal cancer pain. Morphine has many side effects in the body including reduction of pain, loss of hunger. Western countries were able to control other nations by coercing them into unfair trading treaties which would leave the country economically dependent on them. The countries rarely resisted successfully due to their insufficient military power. This occured often Asia with only Japan and Thailand remaining independent. Only Japan thrived however and became an imperial power. Japan was an isolated country until the United States forcibly opened it to trade. Japan experienced a regime change following a tumultuous time in which western nations coerced Japan into trade treaties. The new government favored capitalismand industry which lead to Japan industrializing impressively fast through top down government mandated modernization. Western imperialism forced Japan to modernize in order to remain a sovereign and successful state. Modernization in this case was synonymous with becoming more like the West. Imperialism drastically changed Japanese economic interaction as well as Japanese culture and class system because modernization included becoming more like the West in most aspects but their treatment of women remained the same because the West did not treat women very differently. However, in order to be able to understand the importance of this theme and the impact it has had on the play, one must first understand the role of female oppression in the Spanish society in the 1930s. The 1930s were a period of many changes in Spain, especially because Francisco Franco started ruling the country and the political problems that arose. Things slowly started changing for women because of the foundation of Mujeres Libres, a female anarchist organization that fought for female rights. Until then, the general view of women was that of Proudhon, which meant that women were to be seen as reproducers whose role was to contribute to the society by taking care of their household and their children . This was especially common in the rural areas of Spain, where women could even be forced into arranged marriages against their will and almost had no say in what happened to them. In the nine books in which she is mentioned, Monica makes significant decisions that have a substantive impact on Augustine s early life. Despite being a devout Catholic, Monica chooses to delay the baptism of her son until later in life. While this would be unusual for a contemporary member of the Catholic church, Monica believed it was in the best interest of Augustine to defer his baptism, allowing him to purge himself of his sinful and ungodly desires present during his youth with baptism received at an older age. As such, Monica minimizes the accumulation of sin that Augustine may commit after his baptism, thus allowing him to be to be judged more warmly by Godafter his death.... He laments, ...although she had warned me to guard my virginity...she did not seek to restrain my sexual drive within the limit of the marriage bond (pg. 28). The removal of these forested areas, without sufficiently replanting or by first incorporating proper consideration of all affected living things in the area will result in a complete disregard of any laws protecting the habitat. In conserving natural forested areas, economic planning, and biodiverse offsetting will help in controlling human induced acts causing climate change and the extinction of many species of wildlife. In 1968, Garrett Hardin, an ecologist, warned of the impact on the environment through a paper titled The Tragedy of the Commons (Burger, Gochfeld, 1998). He writes that individuals are forever harming the global landscape by way of blameless, or ignorant actions. The Commons suggests increased population would degrade common resources. Thus Hardin focused on the relationship between individual behavior and resource sustainability. While his theory works in some cases, Garrett Hardin did not back up any of his presented evidence, but rather it was his assumptions that have been cited throughout the years. Hardin wrote of shared resources in England, where farming arrangements were shared by all who participated. If a farmer bought a new cow, he would benefit however the increased hoof traffic would degrade the entire area from overuse. Worth noting is the example Hardin brings to light is unmanaged commons. The introduction of new rights and responsibilities for the boys, shapes an artificial civilization for the children to grow up in. The norms communicated by the army to each boy, create a strong basis for the development of a new personal biography (Oetting 1999). It is evident in children who have been rescued from these conditions, that they have been more affected by the loss of their family than of their exposure to violence (Kline 2003). Colonialism And New Imperialism New Imperialism was the third wave of colonial expansion, precursored by Catholic colonialism in the sixteenth century and Mercantile colonialism in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. As the nineteenth century began, it became apparent that Europe and the United States were the dominant forces of the world, and that they were in control of defining global society. Proponents of New Imperialism believed that modern expansionism was necessary for economic, political, and cultural purposes that would benefit their own country. Furthermore, proponents also believed that colonization would modernize and incite progress in the civilizations outside of Europe and the United States. Nonetheless, New Imperialism established deep lines of contempt regarding Western power, marked with violence, throughout the world. Therefore, New Imperialism was a paltry act done by the Western world which seems to have produced little benefit. New Imperialism took place from 1870 to 1914. The Western world, including most of Europe, the United States, and Japan, were primed to dominate the rest of the world. The Enlightenment rationale combined with a Romantic love of country, which resulted in an explosive combination of ferocious nationalism (Lecture Transcript). Child maltreatment has become a national epidemic. More than one million children are confirmed each year as victims of child abuse and neglect by state child protective service agencies. Every day at least three children die as a result of abuse or neglect. State child welfare records indicate that substance abuse is one of the top two problems exhibited by families in 81% of the reported cases. Recent research on the connection between alcohol or drug problems and child maltreatment clearly indicates a connection between the two problems. This suggests that of the 1.2 million confirmed victims of child maltreatment, and estimated 480,000 children are mistreated each year by a caretaker with alcohol or other drug problems. • 34. International Adoption Crisis Should Not Be A Viable Adoption International Adoption Crisis The image of an American family has changed dramatically over the last fifty years. American families are no longer modeled after the Cleavers. International adoption has contributed to this changing family view, bringing in children who are not biologically related to their parents and often of a different race. This new American image has helped eliminate race related issues. So, what is the controversy with international adoption? Children are the future of a country; children are human resources. If a country is losing their children to international adoption; the county is losing the gifts and talents that are irreplaceable in those children. Intercountry adoption should not be a viable adoption source because this process does not adequately benefit those involved, international adoption exploits poor children and hurts their countries of origin. International adoption takes children out of their countries, and this can lead to the risk of alienating children. Parents that adopt foreign children may be ill equipped or uneducated in their adopted child s culture and this can steer the loss of the child s cultural identity. Culturally, we pass on our values and beliefs through our family structure; our heritage is part of our identity. Contingency theory suggests that there are two different leadership styles, one is relationship motivated, and the other is task motivated. These styles are measured by the LPC (least preferred coworker) scale created by Fiedler, which gives the leaders a score. Influenced by Gothic fiction and the art and film movements of Expressionism, Surrealism, and Noir, Burton crafts the inner world of the outcast and explores the ideas of Jungian and Freudian psychoanalysis in his films, particularly in Vincent (1982), Beetlejuice (1988), and Edward Scissorhands(1990). This paper will explore Burton s aesthetics of chiaroscuro lighting, color symbolism, and composition to recreate the realism of human emotions through the eyes of a misunderstood character s solitude in a highly fantastical world. Burton breaks conventions of narrative Hollywood cinema and focuses less on the script, but largely on the psyche of the character and the visual outer world that portrays their inner anxieties. Although, Burton s films are directly influenced by the work of Fritz Lang, F.W. • 48. Analysis Of Into The Wild By Christopher Krakauer A biography is a work written about another person s life. A standard biography only discusses the life of a single person. Krakauer s biography, Into the Wild, retains the standard convention of describing the life story of the main person, but also include accounts of other people including himself and slight difference on how he wrote the biography to justify Chris s choices. Krakauer focuses his book on Christopher McCandless just like any other biography. Krakauer tells the story of how Chris made his way and became ready for his time in Alaska to carry out his dream. Unlike most biographies, rather than starting at the beginning of Chris s life, Krakauer chose to start with the end. Krakauer begins with the last known events of what happened to Chris s life. By starting with Chris s death, Krakauer adds an air of mystery that intrigues the reader. In interesting the reader, Krakauer gets the reader to read the rest of the book to find out more of what happened. This gives Krakauer the opportunity to defend Chris. Also, in a conventional biography, the author tries to remain unbiased and tells what happened without trying to convince the reader about something. In Into the Wild, Krakauer himself admits that is very biased and sympathizes with Chris in the author s note. This means that Krakauer actively tries to convince the reader of something about Chris and make them understand. Krakauer diverges from standard conventions with the story Everett Ruess. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... V for Vendetta is a film that contains strong character types but diverts from the original graphic novel; however, it still presents a powerful message about government. Strong characters can either make or break a movie. V for Vendetta is a movie that isn t short of strong character types. V s character type is a complex one to say the least. He is a terrorist, anarchist, philosopher and a lover of freedom and chaos. At first people might think how the protagonist of a movie can be a terrorist and still be good, but this factor is what sets V apart from traditional heroes. It is the fact that the world he lives in is so corrupt and power hungry that he can destroy building and still be considered a hero. V is the epitome of the phrase one man s terrorist is another man s freedom fighter . The character of Evey is equally complex. In the beginning of the movie Evey is a young, shy girl who, through a series of events, lives with V and starts to understand his ideologies, and his romance with anarchy. Evey represents the ignorance in everyone. She never acknowledges, before meeting V, that there isn t anything wrong with the government she lives under. Only through understanding and intimidation does she truly realize what it s like to live without fear. Secondary characters types are equally important. V s driving force throughout the whole movie is his vendetta against certain party leaders ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The Feminization Of Poverty Trend And Black And White... To address and answer the question being asked in this paper, I could use the same methodology Low talks about in his paper. To be able to answer how much the feminization of poverty trend and black and white inequality trend can explain the U.S wealth distribution, I would use the same regression model lows uses. Instead of just looking at blacks versus whites, I will look at female headed households versus male headed household too. Similar to Low s paper, I will use the Binder Oaxaca decomposition to document the difference in wealth earnings if male headed households receives the female variables and vice versa. I hope to find that some of the wealth distribution can be explained by the variable differences between the male and female headed household. I expect the difference will only be noticeable towards the bottom of the distribution, probably below top 50%. The difference in median household incomes between whites and blacks has grown from about $19,000 in 1967 to roughly $27,000 in 2011. Median black household income was 59% of median white household income in 2011, up modestly from 55% in 1967; as recently as 2007, black income was 63% of white income. As of 2015, relative to the average hourly wages of white men with the same education, experience, metro status, and region of residence, black men make 22.0 percent less, and black women make 34.2 percent less. Black women earn 11.7 percent less than their white female counterparts. The widening gap has not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. MHPA Research Paper The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, also known as MHPAEA is defined as a federal law that prevents group health plans and health insurance issuers that provide mental health or substance use disorder benefits from imposing less favorable benefit limitations on those benefits than on medical or surgical benefits (Centers for Medicareand Medicaid Services, para 1). Originally, MHPAEA applied only to group health plans and group health insurance coverage, but was amended by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to also apply to individual health insurance coverage (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, para 2). The Mental Health Parity Act of 1996 (MHPA) defined that large group health plans could not impose annual dollar limits on mental health benefits that are less favorable than any limits imposed on medical or surgical benefits (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, para 6).... The new law requires an equivalence in the way that mental health or substance use disorders and medical or surgical benefits are treated in regard to dollar limits spent annually, however does not require large group health plans or insurance issuers to cover mental health or substance use disorders (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services). This is due to the fact that the law s requirements only apply to large group health plans and health insurance issuers that choose to include these mental health or substance use disorders in their benefit packages (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid ... • 52. The Pros And Cons Of The Homeland Security System The homeland security system of the United States has a seemingly impossible task of preventing all attacks on each and every aspect of our country. It is an extremely dangerous world we live in with countless number of people that want to destroy our way of life. There have been several improvements made to our securitysystem. To fully critique the capabilities of the homeland security system of the United States, I m going to evaluate the performance, identify the shortcomings, and then lastly suggest some improvements to prevent future challenges. One of the best way to critique the capabilities of something is to look at the facts, and the patterns that have occurred. Since the creation of the Department of Homeland Security as we know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We need to be much more selective on who enters this country. Especially when there are other countries are in the middle of a civil war, leaving the world with millions of refugees to deal with. Our borders lack the security needed to ensure no one enters the country illegally. After these two have been accomplished we have stopped the bleeding , and only then we will be able to limit the amount of lone wolf attackers in our country. Neither of these two strategies effect our civil liberties that are protected by the constitution. After we have done as much as we possibly can to eliminate an outside threat, we need to try and stand united. We need strong leaders in every level of government to keep us focused on who the real enemy is. Lastly, we need to figure out a strategy of identifying who U.S. citizens are mentally ill and need medical attention. The last thing we need is a medically ill person driving when they shouldn t be, or purchasing firearms when they should be. A friend or a loved one should be able to recognize an issue and alert the proper authorities before something tragic happens. If we are going to improve the future of the homeland security system, we have to stay one step ahead. We have to do our best at predicting where the enemy is going to be. We have to realize where our greatest vulnerabilities are. We have to constantly evaluate our system, and try to prioritize how are defensive assets are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Similarities Between Scope And Scope A. P. J. Abdul Kalam the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007 once said: In a democracy, the well being, individuality, and happiness of every citizen are important for the overall prosperity, peace, and happiness of the nation. This quote perfectly explains the two of the most different pieces of literature. Anthem by Ayn Randand the movie Rope by Alfred Hitchcock. Anthem is in a dystopia where the word I was not used nor was Ego . They live in almost the dark ages with no electricity or a democracy. Everyone works for each other and if you were slightly different from the rest you were punished. But one man came out of the trance and realized what was happening, that equality and individuality were nowhere to be found. On the other hand Rope was taken place in the late 40 s. But Rope was about men who thoughtbecause they were superior and rules do not apply to them like murder. Ayn Rand Anthem and Alfred Hitchcock Rope have very different views of how an individual should view himself. Rand believes that individuality is key for a society to work. In her book, she said For the coming of that day shall I fight, I and my sons and my chosen friends. For the freedom of Man. For his rights. For his life. For his honor. Rand protagonist just got out of a community where you could not think for yourself and now he is able to say I without fearing death. Rand was able to show how inequality can change a person whole understanding of life. Now her protagonist wants more citizens to know this thing called individuality. But in the beginning, you had brothers who all thought of each other as equals and if you even liked someone in the sightless you would be punished. This is an evil thing to say, for it is a transgression, the great transgression of Preference, to love any among men better than the others, since we must love all men and all men are our friends this is what a community was for Rand s protagonist. Not thinking about yourself, but thinking about the good of the group. You grew up with only your brothers, no dad nor mom. No grandkids or freedom. You did the same thing every day for 7 days a week. And if you ever made it aware that one brother is your favorite than another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
