The Cold War On The World

The Cold War s Effects on the World
The Cold War brought lots of mistrust, fear, and the very real threat of mutually assured
destruction(M.A.D), but it also lead to the human race developing the ability to travel to space. The
USSR was the first to sent a man in space, then the U.S. had to out do the USSR to prove we are a
greater superpower so we put a man on the moon. This was one of the of the many beneficial
outcomes of Cold War. Although there were many good and bad outcomes that were caused by the
Cold War due to such factors as tensions, competition between communism democracy changing the
world politically, economically, and socially as well as fear.
One of the many effects that brought changes to politics around the world. Khrushchev along with The
Soviet Union(USSR) exposed communism to the world, To attempt to enforce its will on non
communist countries (Berlin and Laos are current examples) (Doc. 6,II). The USSR pushed its rule
around the world in an attempt to spread communism especially between Europe and Southeast Asia.
The USSR also supported countries attempting to become communist with with agricultural supplies
and military supplies in an attempt to influence other countries, and conflicts between communist
influence and democracy broke out through proxy wars, but the USSR enforced communism on East
Europe and on Afghanistan was spreading like wildfire . The Soviet Union ruled

The Social Differences Between Oral And Oral History
Oral accounts are crucial to understanding historical events which may have not been recorded
through text. The whole process in oral history is important to create the bigger image of the story and
provide the meaning. The act of listening is just as complex as interpreting the story, both aspects give
history a better understanding. The uniqueness of oral history can t compare to written history due to
the compassion and emotions that are evoked while talking. There are social implications of oral
history that come in various forms which effect the process. Although it is a complex process, it
enhances historical practices for many reasons.
The comparison between oral and written history has many discrepancies that impact the
understanding of history in a great way. Oral history has the ability to evoke many emotions due to
being able to see the body language of the speaker. Gestures create emphasis on various words which
may have a significant meaning to the speaker. These gestures would not be seen through text thus it
allows readers to experience the story through emotions as well as facts. The intensity of words also
creates emphasis which is only available through speech. Francis Good uses an analogy to express the
difference between text and oral accounts. Good states manuals and handbooks invariably provide
advice on the issues, problems and strategies involved, but practice and comment show considerable
divergence at times (Good, 362) which alludes to the conclusion that textual accounts can leave out
some information. These aspects contribute to how the audience perceives the information given,
importance will be given to items which can t be expressed through text. Oral history serves a social
purpose in today s society. Oral accounts give the public a better understanding about social, political
and economic issues which may not be written about.
Oral history changes the precedent of how history is interpreted. It enhances the historical practices by
emphasizing important aspects and revealing stories which may not have been heard otherwise. Oral
history and interviews are particularly beneficial for minorities, including women and the illiterate, to
express their stories. In Telling

Diet Analysis Research Paper
NUTRITION FOR TRAINING
An athlete must eat inappropriate diet to match their current exercise training program. The goal of an
optimal training diet is to (Burke and Read, 1989):
1. provide caloric and nutrient requirements
2. promote recovery from training sessions and physiÂŹological adaptations
3. achieve and maintain optimal body composition and competition weight
4. try variations of precompetition and competition fuel and fluid intake to determine the body s
responses
Since athletes require significantly more calories then their seditary counterparts, it is useful to
estimate energy requirements for the athlete. Energy requirements can be estimated though

Case Study on Ethics and Dual Relationships in Social Work...
Ethics Case Study: Juan S.
The social worker in this case study worked at the ABC Children s Wellness Center. An ESL teacher at
a local elementary school referred Juan S. to her. Juan came to the center with his mother, Silvia.
Before seeing Juan and his mother, the social worker called the ESL teacher who referred Juan to her
to discuss the case. The teacher reported that Juan was showing little interest in classroom activities or
his peers, and always seemed exhausted. He was irritable and frequently became physically aggressive
toward classmates who made fun of him for being so small and thin (sometimes calling him mosquito
). She also stated that he often appeared to be daydreaming, and when she tried to talk to him, he

Juan was present during that shooting, and barely escaped with his own life. Silvia then made the
decision to take her remaining two children to America, and contacted her cousin who lived in
Brownsville, TX to help her slip across the border. The cousin was able get someone to smuggle
Silvia, Jaime and Juan across the border at the cost of $10,000. They crossed the border on foot and
were met by someone who hid them under the hay placed in the feeding troughs of a cattle truck. They
were left there for two days without food or water in 98 degree weather while the truck made its way
to the Texas Arkansas border. There they were picked up by her cousin who placed them on a bus to
W. Palm Beach Fl where another cousin lived. Silvia must now pay back the $10,000 she owes her
cousin.
The mother indicated that the family was having great difficulty financially because, without papers,
Silvia and Jaime were having trouble finding jobs, and Silvia was afraid to apply for public assistance.
She had recently obtained a job as a housekeeper and nanny for a wealthy family with 3 young
children. The family, however, did not pay her each week as promised, and when they did pay her,
they sometimes paid less than the agreed amount. Sylvia was afraid to complain because she feared
the family might turn her in to the immigration authorities. She was searching for other work but had
not found anything. Jaime worked as

Shintoism And The Problem Of Evil And Evil
The national religion of Japan, Shinto, is definitely a unique religion in many ways. It is one of the
few religions that someone cannot convert to. In other words, a person needs to be born into it and
grow up with it. And unlike many religions such as Christianity, Buddhism, and Confucianism, Shinto
has no known founder. With that said, Shinto also has a unique view of the problem of evil and
suffering. For some religions, like Christianity, it is black and white on what they believe about evil.
For Shintoism, it is not that clear. Their main desire is to reach harmony, but they do not stress evil or
sin or suffering as much as other religions do. Yoshida Kanetomo, a prominent Shinto priest during the
15th century, even bypassed the problem of evil and he took a more optimistic approach. This is a
theme in the Shinto religion, even mentioning Shintoism as a happy religion. So how do they address
the problem of evil? Shintoism addresses the problem of evil in that they strive to drive out evil in
order to reach harmony and a state of purity.
Shintoism believes they should drive evil out completely in their lives. They conceive good and evil in
aesthetic terms. The curved spirit, called the Magutsubi, is around and within humans. This spirit is
the cause of evil deeds, misfortunes, or disasters. There are evil deeds and thoughts because of the
works of the curved spirit. Motohisa Yamakage said it like this, good or moral behavior is associated

The Atomic Weight Of The Unknown Barium Carbonate
In this lab experiment, an unknown metal carbonate went through a chemical reaction with 1.0 M
barium chloride, forming products of barium carbonate and an alkali metal chloride. The unknown
alkali metal carbonate also went through a chemical reaction with 1 M hydrochloric acid, forming an
alkali metal chloride, with liquid water, and carbon dioxide gas as products. A final flame test was
done to reveal what the unknown alkali metal was. Once all molar masses were calculated, the masses
were extremely varied, ranging from 37.061 grams per mol to 133.110 grams per mol. When the flame
test was performed, yellow orange colored flames appeared, revealing that the unknown alkali metal
carbonate was sodium carbonate.
The purpose of this experiment was to use different type of tests to determine the atomic weight for
the unknown alkali metal carbonate along with determining which alkali metal it is. The first test
consisted of reacting the aqueous metal carbonate with barium chloride in a precipitation reaction [1
M2(CO3) + 1 BaCl2 → 1 Ba(CO3) + 2 MCl]. The product of this reaction is barium carbonate, which
is isolated and later weighed by using filter paper and a Buchner funnel with vacuum filtration. When
weighed, the barium carbonate can be converted to moles of the unknown carbonate and grams per
mol of the unknown alkali metal carbonate can be calculated. The second reaction consisted of
reacting the unknown carbonate (a base) with hydrochloric acid (an acid) to form

Travel And Tourism Case Study
Key historical developments
The historical developments of the travel and tourism industry are categorized in three different time
bands as follows:
Before 1945
1945 1979
1980 to current day
Before 1945
In early times and approximately until the end of the 16th century people who were living in
agricultural communities was stationary, occasionally moving from the local area and rural
community. Even with the beginning of the industrial revolution, which was making a slow start in the
18th century in urban and factory development, a richer class alone enjoyed leisure and travel, while
the workers worked in situ. As industrialization got underway, vacation time or holidays where they
existed tended to decrease.
Before the 1950s, tourism was an industry which was inconsistent; hotels, transport operators, tour
operators, travel agents, all have a habit of to work separately. Hotels were mainly in the business to
sell bed nights. Railways and airlines were in the business to sell seats, Travel agents were selling
travel and holidays. However, in each case, they tended to work very much independently.
Up until 1946, for example, the period between the world wars, much of international travel was for
the privileged, wealthy and leading groups in society.
Thomas Cook introduced the first package tour in 1841, but in fact, by that time the first passenger
railways, from Liverpool to Manchester opened in 1830, themselves were offering outing trips, for a

What Is The Theme Of Contrapasso In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s Inferno, a permeating theme of the work is the idea of contrapasso. Contrapasso is only
mentioned once and late in the Inferno in Canto XXVIII of XXXIV by Bertran de Born: In me you
may observe fit punishment / CosĂ s osserva in me lo contrapasso (XXVIII. 142). Although the literary
device of contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno, the tool is used in every circle
and subdivision in hell. Contrapasso is seen in the punishments of the damned in a physical
manifestation, which represents an appropriate mode of retribution in terms of a kind of divine justice.
In Dante s Inferno, contrapasso, while it describes the physical agony of the damned as fit punishment
for their habitual sins, represents the damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dante does not compare the lustful to just any animal; Dante compares them to birds. Dante does this
by writing: As, in cold weather, the wings of starlings / bear them up in wide, dense flocks, / so does
that blast propel the wicked spirits (V. 40 42). The lustful are not only compared to starlings, but are
also compared to cranes: Just as cranes chant their mournful songs, / making a long line in the air, /
thus I saw approach, heaving plaintive sighs (V. 46 48). Comparing the wanton to birds does two
things to them. First, it makes the sinners less than human as the medieval point of view held that lust
is the property of beings less than human (Hollander, p. 103). Secondly, it makes the sinners less than
birds because birds are able to control where they fly, while the lustful are not. Dante explains a little
bit why the lecherous are punished the way they are. He states that he understood that to such torment
/ the carnal sinners are condemned, / they who make reason subject to desire (V. 37 39). Desire
governs the wantons reason instead of reason governing their desire. Since will instead of reason
governed the sinners choices in their lives, then in hell they are experiencing the physical
representation of the choices their souls made. The lustful are at the will of the wind, which blows
them anywhere without any direction. This parallels the choices they made in life as their wills guided
them without the direction of the intellect. The

How Does Mamet Use Language
1. What is Mamet exploring about how we use language and why, and how it affects us? Mamet
explores how humans use language as it is an extremely intricate device as it is based on how we, as
individuals, interpret it. For example, one person may have a good intention in saying something;
however, the person on the receiving end of that good intention may believe that something negative
is being said. Our words and actions are the sum of the past experiences in our lives. As a result, there
are many misinterpretations in human language which makes it extremely complicated. Mamet also
wrote this play after the Clarence Thomas Anita Hill Case arose, a very controversial case in which
misinterpretation of language may have been the issue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the law unintentionally bends and changes when physical features differentiate as a
result of deeper discriminations and prejudices rooted deep in history. For example, if John was black,
the law may view him as more of a threat simply because of the colour of his skin. Although it is not
admitted, many of our thoughts of those in society that differ from us are a result of very old
prejudices that our ancestors once carried. To further this idea, if Carol was a black woman and John
was a white man, John may have even been at a greater disadvantage. This is because today s society
may subconsciously believe that an educated black woman is already at a disadvantage, thus there
would be no reason for her to lie. Now, if the roles were reversed and a woman was the educator, and
a man was at a student. The student would be much more disadvantaged simply because men do not
typically report being sexually harassed by women as a result of fearing the loss of masculinity. If the
sexual preference of either of the two characters was changed, it may have supported either side as
individuals with a minority sexual preference are sometimes pitied, possibly in the court of law.
Ultimately, to predict the changes that would occur due to a physical feature is impossible; however, a
change would affect the story,

Global Dependence On Fossil Fuel
The proportion of Renewables must increase to around 50% of the energy mix in most countries and is
expected to be over 70% in countries Brazil and Africa. Energy efficiencies and low carbon energy
carriers for heating and cooling can decarbonize electricity, significantly reducing the share of fossil
fuels to less than 50% in the total energy requirement. Sharing best practices across borders can help
transfer innovative technologies and support energy transition plans for many of the developing
countries that are majorly dependent on coal as a primary source of energy. Over the coming years the
dependence on fossil fuel will have to gradually reduce and much of investment must go into making
this transition possible.
Governments, international corporations and other investing parties that can back up small

This will result in technologies being transferred across borders to decarbonize development and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dishwasher Detergents
If you ve ever attempted to churn out homemade dishwasher detergent and have ended up
disappointed with the outcome, the possibility is that you were very close to creating a superb recipe
than you had expected of. Majority of the DIY formulas are done with the very same components,
however, there lies a trick that you can leverage to make it work.
The thing is, cleaners like washing soda are taken under consideration as a base, while the
accumulation removers such as citric acid happen to be... well.. acid. Though both of these ingredients
are crucial for a quality recipe, they will neutralize each other if you use both of them simultaneously.
Several homemade recipes blend them together, though they are peak performers when used
separately.
Let me show you an analogy: Hot water happens to be relaxing and soothing, while cold happens to be
invigorating and freshening. But, while you blend the two, you get the outcome tepid water and throw
off benefits give by both of them. So, the question rises, what is a quality dishwasher detergent made

Humanism and the Renaissance Arts
When discussing the Renaissance; the most intimate area of focus are, art and architecture. Although
no one really talks about Renaissance being an obvious era of some of the greatest and most

that marked the emergence of a great deal of Scholars, thinkers, writers and philosophers. Regardless
the Renaissance (a French word for rebirth ) was a much needed time for awakening, from the
intellectual darkness of the medieval direction, and the rise of many, concepts that would form the

The Invention Of The First Smallpox Vaccine
Ever since the invention of the first smallpox vaccine more than two centuries ago, there has been
plenty of discussion over the morality, ethics, effectiveness, and safety of vaccination and
immunization. It has recently been argued whether laws should be introduced that make some or all
vaccines mandatory for all children (Salmon 47). Parents, health care specialists, nurses, teachers and
children all have an important stake in this issue. Parents argue that it is they who should have the
ultimate decision making right on whether or not to vaccinate their children. Nurses and health care
officials oppose that view on the grounds that by making vaccination rates in children incomplete, we
expose all children to contracting the vaccine preventable diseases. If this is a risk some parents are
willing to take, but others face unwillingly, there is obviously a complication. Every parent is
concerned with their child s health. However, this concern can take several directions. While some
parents are convinced that vaccines have been invented to prevent contracting diseases, which
otherwise can have serious health implications on children and adults, other parents are certain that it
is the vaccines themselves that pose a risk to their children s health. Both have reasons to believe what
they do, however, it has been known that ever since the vaccines for diseases like diphtheria and
measles were introduced in the twentieth century, the number of deaths related to these diseases

Sex in the City by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo Essay
I bought this book when I was in class 8th and had an enormous crush on a guy who liked by then best
friend. I loved the book so much that I recommended it to and even passed around my copy to help
those who weren t sure as to what was going on in their lives. Yes, I bought the book. I was 14 then.
The book was intended to empower girls to stop waiting for disinterested guys. And it did emancipate
the 14years old me from the unending pain! I realized that if a guy liked me, he would make it obvious
by telling me so, calling me regularly, taking me out, etc. and if he does not do all this, he is not
interested in me. My world was suddenly black and white.

They say so because although it seems that the guy gave the girl the control of the situation, in reality
of the authors world, this means that HE gets to choose whether to pick up her call or not. However on
planet Earth, the girl could have just called to fix a date.
And then there were dodgy suggestions like how a woman should never ever ask a man out because
men are conditioned to lead. The guy could be as unsure of your feelings as you are of his, or he could
be shy! I say WHY NOT ask a man out!
Many women play the martyr in relationships with men who don t treat them well because many
women feel so devoted to their partners that they are afraid of losing them. They sometimes delude
themselves with fantasies about why the partner still loves them despite all the signs pointing
otherwise. This isn t gender specific! Guys are just as delusional as women when in love! They too
would try to save the relationship by playing the martyr .
Real life is not so black and white, and this highly sexist, misogynistic book assumes that it is.
Unluckily, relationships are perilously perched in the grey and that s what makes them hard and
complicated. We are humans after all. We hurt and shape each other all the time. It is unfair to hold
men responsible for initiating all hetero relationships, casual or serious. Men are equally affected by
work pressure, family environment and heartbreaks!

What Is Elie Wiesel s Role In Night
Imagine being one of of five hundred thousand jews that survived the mass murdering of over 7
million jews. Elie Wiesel s survival of the holocaust was very significant due to how many times death
was just on the tip of his nose during the duration of being in camps and getting transferred numerous
times. In the novel Night the book goes over the whole experience of the holocaust down to the bare
bone from a first person point of view, the author Elie Wiesel was really able to grasp how things were
to go down during the holocaust and how almost everybody was mistreated. Some may believe that
Elie s faith in god is what kept him alive during his time in the concentration camp; however such as
physical and emotional support he got from his dear father more strongly proves that the relationship
with his father is actually what kept him alive.

St. Paul Cathedral
Introduction: This semester my paper will be discussing Christopher Wren s building St. Paul s
Cathedral , and why St. Paul s Cathedral is considered to be the most important and famous
masterpiece of England s architecture? The St. Paul Cathedral of Sir Christopher Wren was chosen
because it is famously interpreted in the baroque style in England, and dominated English architecture.
St. Paul s cathedral is one of the most famous important building because it was built on an earlier
church that was severely damaged in the Great Fire of London. It is considered as one of the best
symbol of English baroque architecture . It was rebuilt and designed by Christopher Wren, who also
rebuilt over fifty churches that were damaged in Great Fire of London. It is one of the tallest buildings
of London. St. Paul s is the most brilliant building that I ve heard that it was done by a acclaimed artist
in London after it was destroyed, and rebuild again.
Concession: Looking at the most ten famous building in London none of them will take your attention
as St. Paul Cathedral that took forty years to build after it was destroyed. Also, it was designed and
built by one of the most famous English architects in the history Sir Christopher Wren . It is said to be
at the highest point of the city London. Its dome is elegant as framed by the spires of Wren s city
churches.

market) . (Investopedia, 2009)
The Consortium generally strengthens the individual bank s assets to meet their objectives. All
member banks have equal or proportionate ownership shares the member with the highest percentage

Inner City Projects are basically for the redevelopment of the city so as to improve the urban
infrastructure, financial services, land tenure regularization, enhanced community capacity and
improvements in public safety. (Jackson, 2015)
Mixed Used Projects are any urban, suburban or village development, or even a single building, that
blends a combination of residential, commercial, cultural, institutional, or industrial uses, where those
functions are physically and functionally integrated, and that provides pedestrian connections.
(Jackson, 2015)
So basically we are interested in investing in any such project that is in the well fare of the city of East

My Views On Education And Education
Compulsory Education
In this paper, I am going to examine and compare my views on education to the great philosophers
Aristotle, Socrates and Plato. Education should not be something forced on people from a very young
age. We are educating our children to be master test takers who conform to the norm and not to think
outside the box. My position is supported by Socrates in Plato s The Republic and Aristotle in his
Nicomachean Ethics, Book II. Because students waste too much time on testing, education should not
be compulsory
.
First of all school should be voluntary. Socrates states that bodily exercise, when compulsory, does no
harm to the body; but knowledge which is acquired under compulsion obtains no hold on the mind.
(536e) Socrates believed that a compulsory education does not work especially in early education.
Education must appear to be voluntary at first Socrates says, Don t use force in training the children in
the studies, but rather play. In that way, you can better discern what each is naturally directed towards
(537a) I strongly agree that education is being forced upon the youth of today. Education should not
be something our youth fear. Children should not get up in the morning and dread going to school.
The schools should be educating our children; they should be empowering our youth to be
independent thinkers and teaching our children how to be compassionate functioning members of
society. In today s society, standardized

3) What are some of the difficulties that the Forever Young global advertising and communication
team faced throughout the launch process? To what do you attribute these difficulties? The mission of
the Forever Young global team was to prepare for OBC s successful new product launch in the
markets of Taiwan (Taipei) and Canada (Toronto). The two satellite teams were created by LB for this
purpose and centralised their control at the global office at London. The London global office
supplied the global template creative and satellite teams were required to localise their materials with
the same context of global template. The Taipei virtual teams made all the materials including
traditional and non traditional products and communicated frequently with their London global office.
The coordination of the Taipei and London teams was commendable and succeeded in making the
launch a big triumph and made a success of the virtual team. The story was different for the Toronto
team. In principle; LB had decided to make the traditional advertising materials (TV and print
advertisement) in the London office and the non traditional material in the Toronto office. The division
of work for the same project within the teams especially for virtual teams made the task really
complex and the need for synthesising both teams ideas

Reflection Paper On Spelling
Spelling: I was able to observe Nick s spelling growth over the course of my 8 week experience. My
mentor teacher did not administer class spelling tests, because the students are at various positions in
the spelling module. Instead, Nick and four other classmates are taken to the back table of the
classroom (shown in the diagram in Appendix A) to complete spelling work on their whiteboards. The
group that Nick is in is known as the advanced students in the class, and they get spelling words that
are in the 3rd grade curriculum. Because the work is completed on whiteboards and then erased, I do
not have any record of Nick s spelling scores. Although I do not have any physical documentation of
Nick s spelling performance, I was able to monitor Nick s spelling performance every time the
spelling work was conducted. Typically, he would get the entirety of the spelling list correct, except
for one or two words that were incorrect. These mistakes were consistently problems with medial
vowels in lengthy words. One thing that I found interesting was that Nick would actually sound out
the word while writing it. The words that he recognized with automaticity would be jotted down
immediately with accuracy. The unfamiliar words would leave Nick contemplating the order of the
letters (usually the medial vowels) and literally sounds the word out loud to himself. My mentor
teacher truly loves this aspect of Nick s problem solving, and consistently points it out to the class as a

The Decline Of Standard Australian English
According to Ethnologue, there is reportedly 7 097 living languages worldwide (Simons, 2016)
furthermore; Anderson (2012) explains the decline of the number of languages worldwide as being
due to the growth of the major languages; a lesser utilised language dies when it ceases to be learnt by
children. Standard Australian English (SAE) is the language used by the majority of the Australian
population and its Government. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics; with a population of
over 21.5 million people less than a quarter of them speak a language other than English in their home
and that quarter includes the speaking of about 145 Indigenous Australian languages; a number which
has decreased from the 250 or so Indigenous Australian

Atheism as a historical philosophy and its relevance in...
Disbelief in the existence of God is an enduring, worldwide phenomenon that is quite possibly also
one of the most misunderstood belief systems in the world. For many, the term atheism immediately
spurs negative imagery inspired by years of indoctrination churches proclaiming the sins of the
infidels, and how questioning God s infinite love will result in instant damnation. Atheists are
perceived as dark, nihilistic, immoral, amoral, pessimistic, and even evil, because without God, clearly
they are also without morality and goodness. But if this disbelief is so negative, why would nearly 1
billion people globally, and more than 16 percent of the American population identify themselves as
nonbelievers ? In fact, a survey published in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of atheism s critics are quick to call the worldview invalid because they assume it wouldn t exist
without theism without the idea of the Divine. In fact, some even go so far as to say that atheism is
actually parasitic on religion. This is an incorrect statement. Without theism, the only part of atheism
that wouldn t exist is its name. Julian Baggini, the editor of The Philosophers Magazine, weaves this
analogy in his book Atheism:
In Scotland there is a deep lake called Loch Ness. Many people in Scotland almost certainly the
majority believe that the lake is like other lochs in the country. Their beliefs about the lake are what
we might call normal. But that is not to say they have no particular beliefs. It s just that the beliefs
they have are so ordinary that they do not require elucidation...However, some people believe that the
loch contains a strange creature, known as the Loch Ness Monster. Many claim to have seen it,
although no firm evidence of its existence has ever been presented. So far our story is simple fact.
Now imagine how the story could develop The number of believers in the monster starts to grow.
Soon, a word is coined to describe them: they are part mockingly called Nessies . (Many names of
religions started as mocking nicknames: Methodist, Quaker, and even Christian all started out this
way.) However,

Electric Guitar Research Paper
With the increased pressure to go electric, many artists who played the guitar at the height of the Rock
n Roll movement switched their acoustic instruments to electric versions. Unlike bass guitars, which
can often be converted into electric basses, a purely electric guitar will not produce melodic sounds
without the help of an amplifier which carries the tune produced through an electronic current.
Electric guitars also allow the player to partially manipulate the sound coming to the amplifier through
equalizing, distorting, and other methods.
If you want to teach yourself the electric guitar, you are going to first have to choose which type you
want to play. Many versions exist and it is up to you to decide which one fits your style or how much
dedication you really want to put into your practice. If you want to learn using classical pedagogy,
lessons will probably be essential. Choosing this route will allow you to choose a five , six , seven , or
even twelve stringed instrument. Similar to a regular bass or acoustic guitar, the ... Show more content

slower process, the foundation you are laying for future guitar success is greater because you will have

version for fun almost never choose to learn to read music. Instead, they generally learn the four
stringed electronic guitar in chords, which allows them to play by ear . A four stringed instrument is
made up of regular note progressions, and switching in and out of different chords as well as training

Theme Of Psychoanism In Wuthering Heights
Wuthering Heights, published by Emily Brontë in 1847, tells a story of the history of Wuthering
Heights and the tragic love story that precedes it. The two central settings of the work, Thrushcross
Grange, and Wuthering Heights represent Freud s structural model of the human psyche: the id and the
superego. Because Freud s structural model presents the notion that internal conflict is inevitable, the
two settings illustrate the complexities of the human subconscious and the characters difficulty in
navigating them.
In Brontë s Wuthering Heights, the namesake setting of the book represents the Freudian id, by reason
of its primitive aspect in the work. In psychoanalytic theory, the id is responsible for the primal
instincts in humans, and almost always seeks immediate fulfillment. Early on in the novel, the primal
nature of Wuthering Heights exposes itself: the Gothic architecture of the house gives off a sense of
foreboding, the inside of the home lacks conventional furnishings, meat hangs from the kitchen
ceiling, and Lockwood, the narrator, notices a pile of dead rabbits in the living room. Lockwood calls
the atmosphere surrounding the house a tumult to which its station is exposed in stormy weather (5).
The description of the home reveals an underlying barbarity to it, similar to the id. The darkness in the
Heights mirrors location of the id in the human subconscious; the id is located deep in the recesses of
the human mind, so many humans who engage the id have no way to resist it. The tone of the work
shrouds the Heights in an antagonistic darkness, and the lack of conventionality coupled with the
turbulent weather serves as a physical manifestation of the id.
In contrast, Thrushcross Grange represents the superego due to the air of controlled refinement
surrounding the home. Freud s model defines the superego as the part of the mind that acts as a critical
self conscious, reflecting social standards learned through parents and teachers. The refined nature of
the house and its adherence to societal standards shows in its physical appearance. As he described the
appearance of Thrushcross Grange in the novel Heathcliff should have thought [himself] in heaven ,

The Conversion Option l l
In a typical convertible bond, the bondholder is given the option to convert the bond into a specified
number of shares of stock. The conversion ratio measures the number of shares of stock for which
each bond may be exchanged. Stated differently, the market conversion value is the current value of
the shares for which the bonds can be exchanged. The conversion premium is the excess of the bond
value over the conversion value of the bond. The conversion option in a convertible bond is equity.
9
Convertible Bond Value and the Conversion Option
10
Determinants of Value of Conversion Option l The conversion option is a call option on the
underlying stock, and its value is therefore determined by the variables that affect call option values
the underlying stock price, the conversion ratio (which determines the strike price), the life of the
convertible bond, the variance in the stock price and the level of interest rates.
11
Factors in Using Option Pricing Models to Value Convertibles and Warrants l Option pricing models
can be used to value the conversion option with three caveats
conversion options are long term, making the assumptions about constant variance and constant
dividend yields much shakier, conversion options result in stock dilution, and conversion options are
often exercised before expiration, making it dangerous to use European option pricing

Cincher Should Not Be Allowed Persuasive Speech
Let s start with plus size waist cinchers or plus size waist shapers, are a wide belt like garment worn
below the bust or rib line and end above the hip in order to give the illusion of a slimmer waistline and
a more feminine hourglass shape. Made to be firm control shapewear, the material used is quite thick
and don t really have much give. Now this is by no means a bad thing otherwise how would it do its
job? A good waist cincher is designed to really hold in that gut and reduce your waist by at least 1.5/2
inches. There are many waist shapers available that are made from light control, stretchy materials,
which will smooth out the bumps and lumps but these aren t powerful enough for me! I need a cincher

Cultural Relativism Used To Oppress Women
Cultural Relativism is the idea that right and wrong are only specific to a culture and because of this it
can be extremely oppressive to women. Accepting the rules and laws that are used to oppress women
because of the belief in cultural relativism is not just harmful to women but can also be dangerous.
Cultural Relativism, in its most common definition can be quite alluring, because it seems it teach us
that we must be tolerant of other cultures, it most cases that is a good thing, but it the cases of rights of
women it is downright inhuman. Cultural Relativism is a flawed concept, because it is assumed that
there is no set of universal moral standards, so we should just accept things like genital mutilation and
arranged marriage that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cultural relativism cast a shadow on the issues that effects women. Cultural relativism does not allow
us to have an open discussion about how we can help women in oppressed societies. Women are most
likely to be harm by this flawed philosophy because it does not take in account that women rarely get
to speak on behalf of themselves. As you look over the arguments against cultural relativism we see
that is has little to do with tolerance, the way we treat each other, and more to do what a person
believes to be true and these are two different sides of the coin. Tolerance is what we want everyone to
have because it teaches us how we should treat one another. Beliefs can be flawed and because of this
it allow bad things to happen. Cultural Relativism is all about beliefs and not how we should treat our
fellow man and that is why it is so dangerous and harmful to

Catholic And Baptist Similarities
Common Beliefs:
Catholic and Baptist are both denominations under the Christianity religion. Christianity is the religion
based on the teachings, beliefs, and practices of Jesus Christ. Both denominations base their beliefs on
the Word of God, the Holy Bible. They also both believe that there is only one God within three
people, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which is called the Trinity. This is connected to the
world today, because Catholic and Baptist Christianity are both very popular denominations of the
Christian faith and often people switch between them. So, though they have their similarities, they are
mostly different. Two main differences between Catholic and Baptist Christians is the idea and process
of salvation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catholics believe that there is a process for salvation throughout life that the believer must follow.
This involves doing good works and the use of sacraments throughout their life with final salvation in
the end. These sacraments involve infant baptism, the Mass, and Communion. Catholics believe
salvation is only reached at the end of a Christian s life, when the person finally enters heaven after
they are raised from the dead, this is when salvation occurs. On the other hand, Baptists believe that
salvation occurs in the believer s life. All they have to do is ask Jesus for forgiveness of their sins, then
in that instant, the believer is saved forever. This whole ideology is from the basis that Catholics
believe Jesus, himself offered his own life to resemble love which could accept all consequences of
everyone s sins whereas Baptists believe God was the ultimate decider and punished Jesus instead of
Christians so that they could be forgiven. On the right is a drawing of the moment when Jesus was
nailed to the cross which represents when His life was taken either because of his own sacrifice, or
because of God s punishment. So, the main difference between the idea salvation between Baptist and
Catholics is that Catholic s believe in salvation by works whereas Baptist believe in salvation through
faith in Christ, apart from works, (www.baptistcatholic.com). Also, after these believers die, Baptists
believe that if your sins are forgiven because you have been saved, then you go to Heaven and if not,
you go to Hell whereas Catholics also believe in the Purgatory. This is a place where Catholics believe
the soul of the person goes to become cleansed of their sins before they get to

Factors That Affect Political Attitudes Of Voters
There is a wide range of factors that influenced people when they cast their secret votes on Election
Day. The main research question driven by our survey was to know the factors that shape political
attitudes of voters. One of the main political attitude that we are looking at in this research is party
affiliation. In order to figure this out, out survey has been grounded around three mains theories. The
three main theories that we tested in our survey was about the tendency of certain demographic group
to support particular parties, the influence of childhood environment on party identification and the
myth of independents voters. The first theory discussed had been discussed in the Chapter 7 Party
Coalition and Party Change shows how races, age, educational background and demographic location
have influence party coalitions. According to that theory, young, women, and racial minorities tend to
affiliate themselves with democrats whereas healthy white, evangelical white programs tend to
affiliate themselves with republicans. The second theory in the chapter 6 about Party identification
identifies how family, relative, and many others religious group influence party affiliation. According
to this theory, children tend to grow up and vote the way their parents do. Therefore, families have the
first and the most lasting influence on young people s developing political opinions. As this children
get older, various others group such as relatives and religious group

Why School Buses Are Not Required to Have Seat Belts
What about seat belts? Why don t school buses have them?
The short answer is that small school buses do in fact require seat belts; large school buses, with a few
exceptions do not. Seat belts are not required on the larger school buses because both the U.S.
Department of Transportation and Transport Canada, have determined that compartmentalization is
the preferred occupant protection system.
To explain these differences in a greater detail we begin as follows; a small bus is categorized as a bus
under 10,000lbs in weight, which are required by federal law to have seat belt systems on them due to
the fact that they are closer in nature to the size of the average automobile and/or light trucks. The
federal government requires a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All metal surfaces are covered with foam padding. This structure must then meet rigid test
requirements for bending and absorbing energy, such as would be required if a student s body were
thrown against the padded back. In addition, the equivalent of a seat back, called a barrier , is placed
in the front row of seats at the front of the bus.
In addition to padding, today s seats also must have a steel inner structure that springs and bends
forward to help absorb energy when a child is thrown against it. The steel frame must give just enough
to absorb the child in the seat ahead. Also, of course, the seat is required to be anchored to the floor so
strongly that it will not pull loose during this bending action. And the floor itself must be strong that it
will not be torn by the pulling action of the seat anchors during a crash.
Seats are spaced close together as another safety precaution to ensure containment of children after a
potential crash. If seats are spaced too far apart, the student could be thrown too far before being
cushioned and/or could be thrown outside the compartment altogether.
The federal government concluded that compartmentalization is a better safety measure than seat belts
and arguments to favor this are as follows:
Compartmentalization is much more manageable. The protection exists and is in force without
depending on any action of children or any extra

In my opinion, Walt Disney should be Person of the Room because of the great impact he has had on

the reason he should be recognized, he deserves to be recognized because of how he has used this

What Is Terezin Construction Camp
Terezin construction camp Esmeralda Lopez p.2 10.27.15 Terezin existed long before it was a camp

also Terezin was named after Emperor Joseph second after his mother Empress Maria Theresa. During

The other thing that TerezĂn is known for is its role during WWII. Under Nazi occupation, the large
camp became a ghetto for Jews transported from across the Reich Austria and Germany and the
protectorate Bohemia and Moravia. Later it also housed Jews from further afield including Belgium,
Holland and Russia. It was this ghetto that was dressed up to fool the international Red Cross as late as
1944 that Nazi Germany had its Jewish citizens interests at heart. International monitors were shown a

The Biology Of Memory Disorders
1. The biology of memory is very important and if someone were to have a problem with their
memory that could make their daily life difficult. The hippocampus, limbic system, and amygdala are
critical to memory and if these were damage they could cause memory disorders. Memory disorders
are diseases that impair our ability to recall everyday events. There are numerous memory disorders a
person could have. For example, amnesia is a common memory disorder. The most common types of
amnesia are retrograde amnesia and anterograde amnesia. Retrograde amnesia is when a person loses
some memories of their past, and on the other hand, anterograde amnesia is when a person loses the
capacity to form new memories. There has been many case studies about amnesia and by far one of
the best known people with it was a man with the initials H.M. The doctors removed a big chunk of
his temporal lobe and after the surgery, he could recall almost no new information. Later, when
researchers examined his brain they realized his hippocampus was damage and this was why he had
amnesia. Another well known memory disorder is Alzheimer s disease. Alzheimer s disease is
becoming a more common memory disorder in elderly people as the years continue. This disease
occurs at an alarming rate, in fact, one American develops Alzheimer s disease every 72 seconds. The
losses of Alzheimer s disease are both language and memory related. First Alzheimer s patients began
to lose their most recent memories and then

The Cold War On The World Gerry Ruiz Mr. Trahey Modern Civilizations 10B Period 5 May 17 2016 The Cold War s Effects on the World The Cold War brought lots of mistrust, fear, and the very real threat of mutually assured destruction(M.A.D), but it also lead to the human race developing the ability to travel to space. The USSR was the first to sent a man in space, then the U.S. had to out do the USSR to prove we are a greater superpower so we put a man on the moon. This was one of the of the many beneficial outcomes of Cold War. Although there were many good and bad outcomes that were caused by the Cold War due to such factors as tensions, competition between communism democracy changing the world politically, economically, and socially as well as fear. One of the many effects that brought changes to politics around the world. Khrushchev along with The Soviet Union(USSR) exposed communism to the world, To attempt to enforce its will on non communist countries (Berlin and Laos are current examples) (Doc. 6,II). The USSR pushed its rule around the world in an attempt to spread communism especially between Europe and Southeast Asia. • 3. The Social Differences Between Oral And Oral History Oral accounts are crucial to understanding historical events which may have not been recorded through text. The whole process in oral history is important to create the bigger image of the story and provide the meaning. The act of listening is just as complex as interpreting the story, both aspects give history a better understanding. The uniqueness of oral history can t compare to written history due to the compassion and emotions that are evoked while talking. There are social implications of oral history that come in various forms which effect the process. Although it is a complex process, it enhances historical practices for many reasons. The comparison between oral and written history has many discrepancies that impact the understanding of history in a great way. Oral history has the ability to evoke many emotions due to being able to see the body language of the speaker. Gestures create emphasis on various words which may have a significant meaning to the speaker. These gestures would not be seen through text thus it allows readers to experience the story through emotions as well as facts. The intensity of words also creates emphasis which is only available through speech. Francis Good uses an analogy to express the difference between text and oral accounts. Good states manuals and handbooks invariably provide advice on the issues, problems and strategies involved, but practice and comment show considerable divergence at times (Good, 362) which alludes to the conclusion that textual accounts can leave out some information. These aspects contribute to how the audience perceives the information given, importance will be given to items which can t be expressed through text. Oral history serves a social purpose in today s society. Oral accounts give the public a better understanding about social, political and economic issues which may not be written about. Oral history changes the precedent of how history is interpreted. It enhances the historical practices by emphasizing important aspects and revealing stories which may not have been heard otherwise. Oral history and interviews are particularly beneficial for minorities, including women and the illiterate, to express their stories. In Telling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An ESL teacher at a local elementary school referred Juan S. to her. Juan came to the center with his mother, Silvia. Before seeing Juan and his mother, the social worker called the ESL teacher who referred Juan to her to discuss the case. The teacher reported that Juan was showing little interest in classroom activities or his peers, and always seemed exhausted. Silvia then made the decision to take her remaining two children to America, and contacted her cousin who lived in Brownsville, TX to help her slip across the border. They crossed the border on foot and were met by someone who hid them under the hay placed in the feeding troughs of a cattle truck. They were left there for two days without food or water in 98 degree weather while the truck made its way to the Texas Arkansas border. There they were picked up by her cousin who placed them on a bus to W. Palm Beach Fl where another cousin lived. Silvia must now pay back the $10,000 she owes her cousin. The mother indicated that the family was having great difficulty financially because, without papers, Silvia and Jaime were having trouble finding jobs, and Silvia was afraid to apply for public assistance. She had recently obtained a job as a housekeeper and nanny for a wealthy family with 3 young children. The family, however, did not pay her each week as promised, and when they did pay her, they sometimes paid less than the agreed amount. • 6. Shintoism And The Problem Of Evil And Evil The national religion of Japan, Shinto, is definitely a unique religion in many ways. It is one of the few religions that someone cannot convert to. In other words, a person needs to be born into it and grow up with it. And unlike many religions such as Christianity, Buddhism, and Confucianism, Shinto has no known founder. With that said, Shinto also has a unique view of the problem of evil and suffering. For some religions, like Christianity, it is black and white on what they believe about evil. For Shintoism, it is not that clear. Their main desire is to reach harmony, but they do not stress evil or sin or suffering as much as other religions do. Yoshida Kanetomo, a prominent Shinto priest during the 15th century, even bypassed the problem of evil and he took a more optimistic approach. This is a theme in the Shinto religion, even mentioning Shintoism as a happy religion. So how do they address the problem of evil? Shintoism addresses the problem of evil in that they strive to drive out evil in order to reach harmony and a state of purity. Shintoism believes they should drive evil out completely in their lives. They conceive good and evil in aesthetic terms. The curved spirit, called the Magutsubi, is around and within humans. This spirit is the cause of evil deeds, misfortunes, or disasters. There are evil deeds and thoughts because of the works of the curved spirit. Motohisa Yamakage said it like this, good or moral behavior is associated with balance of ... • 7. The Atomic Weight Of The Unknown Barium Carbonate In this lab experiment, an unknown metal carbonate went through a chemical reaction with 1.0 M barium chloride, forming products of barium carbonate and an alkali metal chloride. The unknown alkali metal carbonate also went through a chemical reaction with 1 M hydrochloric acid, forming an alkali metal chloride, with liquid water, and carbon dioxide gas as products. A final flame test was done to reveal what the unknown alkali metal was. Once all molar masses were calculated, the masses were extremely varied, ranging from 37.061 grams per mol to 133.110 grams per mol. When the flame test was performed, yellow orange colored flames appeared, revealing that the unknown alkali metal carbonate was sodium carbonate. The purpose of this experiment was to use different type of tests to determine the atomic weight for the unknown alkali metal carbonate along with determining which alkali metal it is. The first test consisted of reacting the aqueous metal carbonate with barium chloride in a precipitation reaction [1 M2(CO3) + 1 BaCl2 → 1 Ba(CO3) + 2 MCl]. The product of this reaction is barium carbonate, which is isolated and later weighed by using filter paper and a Buchner funnel with vacuum filtration. When weighed, the barium carbonate can be converted to moles of the unknown carbonate and grams per mol of the unknown alkali metal carbonate can be calculated. The second reaction consisted of reacting the unknown carbonate (a base) with hydrochloric acid (an acid) to form ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Travel And Tourism Case Study Key historical developments The historical developments of the travel and tourism industry are categorized in three different time bands as follows: Before 1945 1945 1979 1980 to current day Before 1945 In early times and approximately until the end of the 16th century people who were living in agricultural communities was stationary, occasionally moving from the local area and rural community. Even with the beginning of the industrial revolution, which was making a slow start in the 18th century in urban and factory development, a richer class alone enjoyed leisure and travel, while the workers worked in situ. As industrialization got underway, vacation time or holidays where they existed tended to decrease. Before the 1950s, tourism was an industry which was inconsistent; hotels, transport operators, tour operators, travel agents, all have a habit of to work separately. Hotels were mainly in the business to sell bed nights. Railways and airlines were in the business to sell seats, Travel agents were selling travel and holidays. However, in each case, they tended to work very much independently. Up until 1946, for example, the period between the world wars, much of international travel was for the privileged, wealthy and leading groups in society. Thomas Cook introduced the first package tour in 1841, but in fact, by that time the first passenger railways, from Liverpool to Manchester opened in 1830, themselves were offering outing trips, for a traffic ... • 9. What Is The Theme Of Contrapasso In Dante s Inferno In Dante s Inferno, a permeating theme of the work is the idea of contrapasso. Contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno in Canto XXVIII of XXXIV by Bertran de Born: In me you may observe fit punishment / CosĂ s osserva in me lo contrapasso (XXVIII. 142). Although the literary device of contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno, the tool is used in every circle and subdivision in hell. Contrapasso is seen in the punishments of the damned in a physical manifestation, which represents an appropriate mode of retribution in terms of a kind of divine justice. In Dante s Inferno, contrapasso, while it describes the physical agony of the damned as fit punishment for their habitual sins, represents the damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dante does not compare the lustful to just any animal; Dante compares them to birds. Dante does this by writing: As, in cold weather, the wings of starlings / bear them up in wide, dense flocks, / so does that blast propel the wicked spirits (V. 40 42). The lustful are not only compared to starlings, but are also compared to cranes: Just as cranes chant their mournful songs, / making a long line in the air, / thus I saw approach, heaving plaintive sighs (V. 46 48). Comparing the wanton to birds does two things to them. First, it makes the sinners less than human as the medieval point of view held that lust is the property of beings less than human (Hollander, p. 103). Secondly, it makes the sinners less than birds because birds are able to control where they fly, while the lustful are not. Dante explains a little bit why the lecherous are punished the way they are. He states that he understood that to such torment / the carnal sinners are condemned, / they who make reason subject to desire (V. 37 39). Desire governs the wantons reason instead of reason governing their desire. Since will instead of reason governed the sinners choices in their lives, then in hell they are experiencing the physical representation of the choices their souls made. The lustful are at the will of the wind, which blows them anywhere without any direction. This parallels the choices they made in life as their wills guided them without the direction of the intellect. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How Does Mamet Use Language 1. What is Mamet exploring about how we use language and why, and how it affects us? Mamet explores how humans use language as it is an extremely intricate device as it is based on how we, as individuals, interpret it. For example, one person may have a good intention in saying something; however, the person on the receiving end of that good intention may believe that something negative is being said. Our words and actions are the sum of the past experiences in our lives. As a result, there are many misinterpretations in human language which makes it extremely complicated. Mamet also wrote this play after the Clarence Thomas Anita Hill Case arose, a very controversial case in which misinterpretation of language may have been the issue. ... This is because the law unintentionally bends and changes when physical features differentiate as a result of deeper discriminations and prejudices rooted deep in history. For example, if John was black, the law may view him as more of a threat simply because of the colour of his skin. Although it is not admitted, many of our thoughts of those in society that differ from us are a result of very old prejudices that our ancestors once carried. To further this idea, if Carol was a black woman and John was a white man, John may have even been at a greater disadvantage. This is because today s society may subconsciously believe that an educated black woman is already at a disadvantage, thus there would be no reason for her to lie. Now, if the roles were reversed and a woman was the educator, and a man was at a student. The student would be much more disadvantaged simply because men do not typically report being sexually harassed by women as a result of fearing the loss of masculinity. If the sexual preference of either of the two characters was changed, it may have supported either side as individuals with a minority sexual preference are sometimes pitied, possibly in the court of law. • 11. Global Dependence On Fossil Fuel The proportion of Renewables must increase to around 50% of the energy mix in most countries and is expected to be over 70% in countries Brazil and Africa. Energy efficiencies and low carbon energy carriers for heating and cooling can decarbonize electricity, significantly reducing the share of fossil fuels to less than 50% in the total energy requirement. Sharing best practices across borders can help transfer innovative technologies and support energy transition plans for many of the developing countries that are majorly dependent on coal as a primary source of energy. Over the coming years the dependence on fossil fuel will have to gradually reduce and much of investment must go into making this transition possible. Governments, international corporations and other investing parties that can back up small entrepreneurs, suppliers and local universities in their research and sharing of knowledge across the spectrum of value chain. International collaboration and continuous dialogues between the stakeholders to share both risks and benefits of such collaborations can facilitate knowledge sharing. • 15. The Invention Of The First Smallpox Vaccine Ever since the invention of the first smallpox vaccine more than two centuries ago, there has been plenty of discussion over the morality, ethics, effectiveness, and safety of vaccination and immunization. It has recently been argued whether laws should be introduced that make some or all vaccines mandatory for all children (Salmon 47). Parents, health care specialists, nurses, teachers and children all have an important stake in this issue. Parents argue that it is they who should have the ultimate decision making right on whether or not to vaccinate their children. Nurses and health care officials oppose that view on the grounds that by making vaccination rates in children incomplete, we expose all children to contracting the vaccine preventable diseases. If this is a risk some parents are willing to take, but others face unwillingly, there is obviously a complication. Every parent is concerned with their child s health. However, this concern can take several directions. While some parents are convinced that vaccines have been invented to prevent contracting diseases, which otherwise can have serious health implications on children and adults, other parents are certain that it is the vaccines themselves that pose a risk to their children s health. Both have reasons to believe what they do, however, it has been known that ever since the vaccines for diseases like diphtheria and measles were introduced in the twentieth century, the number of deaths related to these diseases ... • 21. My Views On Education And Education Compulsory Education In this paper, I am going to examine and compare my views on education to the great philosophers Aristotle, Socrates and Plato. Education should not be something forced on people from a very young age. We are educating our children to be master test takers who conform to the norm and not to think outside the box. My position is supported by Socrates in Plato s The Republic and Aristotle in his Nicomachean Ethics, Book II. Because students waste too much time on testing, education should not be compulsory . First of all school should be voluntary. Socrates states that bodily exercise, when compulsory, does no harm to the body; but knowledge which is acquired under compulsion obtains no hold on the mind. (536e) Socrates believed that a compulsory education does not work especially in early education. Education must appear to be voluntary at first Socrates says, Don t use force in training the children in the studies, but rather play. In that way, you can better discern what each is naturally directed towards (537a) I strongly agree that education is being forced upon the youth of today. Education should not be something our youth fear. Children should not get up in the morning and dread going to school. The schools should be educating our children; they should be empowering our youth to be independent thinkers and teaching our children how to be compassionate functioning members of society. Many international companies have projects spanning a variety of nationalities, involving great geographical distances and a range of time zones. In this scenario, companies are forced to make virtual teams which are comprised of members who are located in more than one physical location (Peters and Manz, 2007). This virtual team trait has fostered extensive use of a variety of forms of computer mediated communication that enable geographically dispersed members to coordinate their individual effort and inputs (Attaran, 2002). To what do you attribute these difficulties? The mission of the Forever Young global team was to prepare for OBC s successful new product launch in the markets of Taiwan (Taipei) and Canada (Toronto). The two satellite teams were created by LB for this purpose and centralised their control at the global office at London. The London global office supplied the global template creative and satellite teams were required to localise their materials with the same context of global template. The Taipei virtual teams made all the materials including traditional and non traditional products and communicated frequently with their London global office. The coordination of the Taipei and London teams was commendable and succeeded in making the launch a big triumph and made a success of the virtual team. The story was different for the Toronto team. In principle; LB had decided to make the traditional advertising materials (TV and print advertisement) in the London office and the non traditional material in the Toronto office. The division of work for the same project within the teams especially for virtual teams made the task really complex and the need for synthesising both teams ideas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Reflection Paper On Spelling Spelling: I was able to observe Nick s spelling growth over the course of my 8 week experience. My mentor teacher did not administer class spelling tests, because the students are at various positions in the spelling module. Instead, Nick and four other classmates are taken to the back table of the classroom (shown in the diagram in Appendix A) to complete spelling work on their whiteboards. The group that Nick is in is known as the advanced students in the class, and they get spelling words that are in the 3rd grade curriculum. Because the work is completed on whiteboards and then erased, I do not have any record of Nick s spelling scores. Although I do not have any physical documentation of Nick s spelling performance, I was able to monitor Nick s spelling performance every time the spelling work was conducted. Typically, he would get the entirety of the spelling list correct, except for one or two words that were incorrect. These mistakes were consistently problems with medial vowels in lengthy words. One thing that I found interesting was that Nick would actually sound out the word while writing it. The words that he recognized with automaticity would be jotted down immediately with accuracy. The unfamiliar words would leave Nick contemplating the order of the letters (usually the medial vowels) and literally sounds the word out loud to himself. My mentor teacher truly loves this aspect of Nick s problem solving, and consistently points it out to the class as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disbelief in the existence of God is an enduring, worldwide phenomenon that is quite possibly also one of the most misunderstood belief systems in the world. For many, the term atheism immediately spurs negative imagery inspired by years of indoctrination churches proclaiming the sins of the infidels, and how questioning God s infinite love will result in instant damnation. Atheists are perceived as dark, nihilistic, immoral, amoral, pessimistic, and even evil, because without God, clearly they are also without morality and goodness. But if this disbelief is so negative, why would nearly 1 billion people globally, and more than 16 percent of the American population identify themselves as nonbelievers ? In fact, a survey published in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of atheism s critics are quick to call the worldview invalid because they assume it wouldn t exist without theism without the idea of the Divine. In fact, some even go so far as to say that atheism is actually parasitic on religion. This is an incorrect statement. Without theism, the only part of atheism that wouldn t exist is its name. Julian Baggini, the editor of The Philosophers Magazine, weaves this analogy in his book Atheism: In Scotland there is a deep lake called Loch Ness. Many people in Scotland almost certainly the majority believe that the lake is like other lochs in the country. Their beliefs about the lake are what we might call normal. But that is not to say they have no particular beliefs. Now imagine how the story could develop The number of believers in the monster starts to grow. Soon, a word is coined to describe them: they are part mockingly called Nessies . Electric Guitar Research Paper With the increased pressure to go electric, many artists who played the guitar at the height of the Rock n Roll movement switched their acoustic instruments to electric versions. Unlike bass guitars, which can often be converted into electric basses, a purely electric guitar will not produce melodic sounds without the help of an amplifier which carries the tune produced through an electronic current. Electric guitars also allow the player to partially manipulate the sound coming to the amplifier through equalizing, distorting, and other methods. If you want to teach yourself the electric guitar, you are going to first have to choose which type you want to play. Many versions exist and it is up to you to decide which one fits your style or how much dedication you really want to put into your practice. • 28. Theme Of Psychoanism In Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights, published by Emily BrontĂ« in 1847, tells a story of the history of Wuthering Heights and the tragic love story that precedes it. The two central settings of the work, Thrushcross Grange, and Wuthering Heights represent Freud s structural model of the human psyche: the id and the superego. Because Freud s structural model presents the notion that internal conflict is inevitable, the two settings illustrate the complexities of the human subconscious and the characters difficulty in navigating them. In BrontĂ« s Wuthering Heights, the namesake setting of the book represents the Freudian id, by reason of its primitive aspect in the work. In psychoanalytic theory, the id is responsible for the primal instincts in humans, and almost always seeks immediate fulfillment. Early on in the novel, the primal nature of Wuthering Heights exposes itself: the Gothic architecture of the house gives off a sense of foreboding, the inside of the home lacks conventional furnishings, meat hangs from the kitchen ceiling, and Lockwood, the narrator, notices a pile of dead rabbits in the living room. Lockwood calls the atmosphere surrounding the house a tumult to which its station is exposed in stormy weather (5). The description of the home reveals an underlying barbarity to it, similar to the id. The darkness in the Heights mirrors location of the id in the human subconscious; the id is located deep in the recesses of the human mind, so many humans who engage the id have no way to resist it. The tone of the work shrouds the Heights in an antagonistic darkness, and the lack of conventionality coupled with the turbulent weather serves as a physical manifestation of the id. In contrast, Thrushcross Grange represents the superego due to the air of controlled refinement surrounding the home. Freud s model defines the superego as the part of the mind that acts as a critical self conscious, reflecting social standards learned through parents and teachers. The refined nature of the house and its adherence to societal standards shows in its physical appearance. As he described the appearance of Thrushcross Grange in the novel Heathcliff should have thought [himself] in heaven , (48). Unlike the Heights, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Catholics believe that there is a process for salvation throughout life that the believer must follow. This involves doing good works and the use of sacraments throughout their life with final salvation in the end. These sacraments involve infant baptism, the Mass, and Communion. Catholics believe salvation is only reached at the end of a Christian s life, when the person finally enters heaven after they are raised from the dead, this is when salvation occurs. On the other hand, Baptists believe that salvation occurs in the believer s life. All they have to do is ask Jesus for forgiveness of their sins, then in that instant, the believer is saved forever. This whole ideology is from the basis that Catholics believe Jesus, himself offered his own life to resemble love which could accept all consequences of everyone s sins whereas Baptists believe God was the ultimate decider and punished Jesus instead of Christians so that they could be forgiven. On the right is a drawing of the moment when Jesus was nailed to the cross which represents when His life was taken either because of his own sacrifice, or because of God s punishment. The main research question driven by our survey was to know the factors that shape political attitudes of voters. One of the main political attitude that we are looking at in this research is party affiliation. In order to figure this out, out survey has been grounded around three mains theories. The three main theories that we tested in our survey was about the tendency of certain demographic group to support particular parties, the influence of childhood environment on party identification and the myth of independents voters. The first theory discussed had been discussed in the Chapter 7 Party Coalition and Party Change shows how races, age, educational background and demographic location have influence party coalitions. According to that theory, young, women, and racial minorities tend to affiliate themselves with democrats whereas healthy white, evangelical white programs tend to affiliate themselves with republicans. The short answer is that small school buses do in fact require seat belts; large school buses, with a few exceptions do not. Seat belts are not required on the larger school buses because both the U.S. Department of Transportation and Transport Canada, have determined that compartmentalization is the preferred occupant protection system. To explain these differences in a greater detail we begin as follows; a small bus is categorized as a bus under 10,000lbs in weight, which are required by federal law to have seat belt systems on them due to the fact that they are closer in nature to the size of the average automobile and/or light trucks. This structure must then meet rigid test requirements for bending and absorbing energy, such as would be required if a student s body were thrown against the padded back. In addition, the equivalent of a seat back, called a barrier , is placed in the front row of seats at the front of the bus. In addition to padding, today s seats also must have a steel inner structure that springs and bends forward to help absorb energy when a child is thrown against it. The steel frame must give just enough to absorb the child in the seat ahead. Also, of course, the seat is required to be anchored to the floor so strongly that it will not pull loose during this bending action. And the floor itself must be strong that it will not be torn by the pulling action of the seat anchors during a crash. Seats are spaced close together as another safety precaution to ensure containment of children after a potential crash. If seats are spaced too far apart, the student could be thrown too far before being cushioned and/or could be thrown outside the compartment altogether. The hippocampus, limbic system, and amygdala are critical to memory and if these were damage they could cause memory disorders. Memory disorders are diseases that impair our ability to recall everyday events. There are numerous memory disorders a person could have. For example, amnesia is a common memory disorder. The most common types of amnesia are retrograde amnesia and anterograde amnesia.
