Religion In Bollywood Movies
Significance of religion and Culture in Bollywood Movies
India is considered as the inception of the mythological genre of film. The first feature film of
India, Raja HarishChandra (1913) by Dadasaheb Phalke was the commencement of the
explorations of the mythological genre of films (Dimitrova, 2016). Bollywood movies have been
considered as the richest source of exploring religious and cultural values, (Dunmill. M 2007).
Bollywood has produced several movies and TV shows predicated on gods. Religion composed a
very sensitive issue in the Indian society. Hindu religion is the most commonly practiced religion
in India, according to the 2011 census (Shrivastava, 2015). Movies that are against the religious
credences of the audience are considered blasphemy or attack on the religious sentiments of the
community (Qadri Mufti, 2017). Om Jai Jagadish (2002), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999) and Hum
Aapke Hain Kaun (1994) are some of the movies that represented a typical Indian, Hindu family by
utilizing traditional costumes and festival celebrations. Dimitrova (2016) discussed the movie
Lagaan (2001) and the portrayal of the religion, Hinduism in the movie. The movie was predicated
in the North Indian village, Champaner, which is a part of the princely state in 1893 (Dimitrova,
2016). In the movie, British rulers are stereotyped and represented as cruel, arrogant and superficial.

Formative Vs. Summative Assessment
Formative vs. Summative Assessment In today s schools, teachers are trying to decide which form
of assessment, formative or summative, is a better measure of student s abilities. Teachers are
constantly pressured to make sure their students are doing well on state wide assessments,
therefore, making sure their students have the skills they need to succeed on these tests is
extremely important. Formative assessmentgives the student and teacher feedback as the
information is gathered (Cotton, 2017). Where summative assessments are better for capturing the
amount of material learned and the quality of learning at the end of a large unit or amount of
information (Dixson and Worrell 2016). Teachers are on the warpath researching which method is
the most effective way of assessing students. In the article Formative and Summative Assessmentin
the Classroom , the authors Dixson and Worrell discuss the differences between formative and
summative assessment (2016). They explain that the goal of formative assessment is to guide
instruction and summative assessment is more intended to show... Show more content on

Knowing when to use each is imperative to the success of students. It is the teacher s job to decide
when to use each of the types and subtypes of assessments. Through the research presented in this
literature it has been found that formative assessment is a more helpful form of guiding instruction.
Summative assessment is used to see what students know about a particular topic at a particular
time, such as a cumulative exam. Students and teachers alike feel the pressure that high stakes
testing can bring. Teachers make all the difference when it comes to testing. So, in order for
teachers to have classrooms where testing is used efficiently they must work diligently to make sure
their assessments are balanced and carefully

First They Killed My Father Analysis
First They Killed My Father is first and foremost a memoir about the horrific genocide of the
Cambodian people under Pol Pot s regime. In regards to the emotion love, there s hardly any
evidence of romance to be found. However, with that in mind, it s not hard to see aspects of a
love story hinted at several parts throughout it. These hints are often not shown in the way most
people associate love stories but alongside Ung s description of the struggles and hardships she
faced under Pol Pot.
Ung shows her love for her home at the very beginning of the memoir. The very first page of the
memoir includes a vivid description of the city of Phnom Penh. She loves the bustling, busy
environment, fantastic celebrations and the delicious street food. When the Khmer Rouge soldiers

The most obvious one is Loung explains how her parents met, Pa took one look at Ma and was
immediately smitten. Ma saw that he was kind, strong, and handsome, and she eventually fell in
love with him (5). This is an example of the first, most recognized type of a love story, one where a
boy meets a girl. The photos between pages 110 and 111 give a feeling of treasuring each
memory and allowing the reader to experience the same kind of respect and nostalgia that Ung
has. This is evident in the vision that Loung has when her spirit is looking for Pa Oh Pa, I love
you. I will always miss you, I will never let you go (106). Pa, in Loung s mind, receives the
message and reciprocates I have to go, but I will look after you always (109) and again once she
and Meng leave for Vermont Don t worry. Wherever you go, I will find you. (233). Though the
exchange between Pa and Loung never really use the word love it s evident by their connection
that they love each other very

Denison Street Methadone Clinic Meeting
I have not personally attended in a workplace meeting as I am only a casual worker. However, I
have witnessed some meetings at Portobello PR as well as witnessing one at Denison street
methadone clinic. As I have seen and learnt I do understand the structure and requirements of
having a meeting and the different types of meetings. Most meetings require a few preparation steps
before the meetingwill happened this is usually organized by the manager or the owner. Tasks you
need to do first is letting the meeting attendees know the Time, Location, attendees Requirements

Bead Game Essay
Bead Game by Ishu Patel was created in 1977. Bead Game is a stop motion animated film that was
created by arranging single beads into shapes lines, mammals, and mythological creatures. Further
into the film the creatures absorb and devour one another, creating other figures and creatures from
the remaining beads. These beads end up evolving into scenes of modern human warfare. In the
beginning of the film Patel begins with on simple white bead and continues to add other beads and
color making his arrangements of the beads into animated figures. While the beads dance there is
sound of percussion that compliments the movement of the beads due to the synchronization of
both sound and movement in the animation. The film reminded me of the creation of life;... Show

Patel animates the theory of human evolution by showing a monkey transforming into a caveman
and then into present day human. The film is successful in synchronizing the characters towards
the end of the film. Patel shows synchronization through his animating when there are two men
throwing a spear at one another and the beads are arranged in a way that the two mirror each other.
Another historical event that is portrayed is ancient warfare, dating all the way back to what seems
to be around 2700 BCE. I began to notice a pattern or a timeline up to this point, starting with the
creation of life then going through important moments of the history of human creation. I think the
creator of this film is trying to say that a design can start off as something so small and simple, and
then fueled by creativity the design turns into an art form. This interpretation that I have made isn t
obvious; it is just something that I took away from the animation after watching it. Something that
is noticeable throughout this animation is how frequent the use of red is. Patel used red for his
creatures that showed characteristics of being

Diseases Caused By The Protozoan Parasites Cryptosporidium...
Introduction Parasites are organisms which live in close association to a host organism, the
relationship is non mutualistic, in which the parasite benefits and the host incurs costs. (Roberts
Janovy, 2008) The costs range from a visible form of reduced fecundity or survival, but also more
subtly such as reduced attractiveness, leading to reduced mating success (Ebert, 2005). This essay
will concentrate on two diseases caused by the protozoan parasites Cryptosporidium parvum and
Toxoplasma gondii. Cryptosporidium parvum is an apicomplexan parasite that exhibits a faecal
oral type life style. (Wiser, 2011) C. parvum causes the disease cryptosporidiosis, which infects the
mammalian intestinal tract, specifically the distal small intestine. Moreover, it can also affect the
respiratory tract in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent hosts. (Tzipori, 2014). Also,
Toxoplasma gondii causes Toxoplasmosis, which predominantly is asymptomatic, however it can
cause flu like symptoms and eye problems in a small number of hosts (Hunter Sibley, 2012).
Biology Cryptosporidium parvum C.parvum is one of many Cryptosporidium species which can
infect humans. the beginning of the life cycle starts with the ingestion of the C. parvum oocysts
which can be seen in Figure 1 as stage 3. Once ingested the oocysts migrate with other ingested
material along the digestive tract. Until it reaches the intestine, here it releases sporozoites (stage A
B) these sporozoites move the intestinal

The Trinity Research Paper
The Trinity is the basis of the gospel, and the gospel is the declaration of the Trinity in action. (J I
Packer, likesuccess.com) The Trinity consists of God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy
Spirit, yet they make up one God. It is the simple philosophy of the 3 in 1 or three persons, one
essence first brought up by Tertullian. It is this philosophy that allows Christianityto be a
monotheism. The definition of the Trinityaccording to the Merriam Webster dictionary is the unity
of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons in one Godhead according to Christian dogma.
The basis of the Trinity is that there is God the Father, Jesusthe Son, and the Holy Spirit. There are
three separate parts, yet they make up one. While this is confusing to the naked ear, it actually
makes logical sense on a deeper level. Scholars and philosophers struggled for years to give a valid
explanation of the Trinity. It was not until Tertullian in the 2nd or 3rd century AD that a satisfactory
explanation was given. Tertullian came up with the Trinitarian Doctrine, which basically... Show

look more like a bird, or fish, or wolf and humans clearly do not. So what or who was he talking
to? It is clear he was talking to the Trinity and if he was talking to the Trinity and it says nowhere
in Genesis that God created the Trinity, then the Trinity must have existed with God before the
creation of the world. Therefore the Trinity and God are

The Challenges Of Homeschooling
Homeschooling
Homeschooling is a dynamic development around the nation and the world, in which fathers and
mothers instruct their kids at home as opposed to sending them to a customary open or tuition
based school (Martin, 2015). Some of the parents believe that homeschooling is safer for their
children than public schools and would make the family ties getting closer. They think if they
teach their child they can raise their own child the way they want them to be. Parents have a right
to choose what is best for their children but does a child have the same right? In the US parents are
deemed to have absolute right over their children thus decide how their children receive education
overlooking the fact that children also have rights and as the modern society we need to step in a

People will not back down on the issue of homeschooling as it challenges the competence of the
state and monopoly. Homeschooling clearly brings out the battle between individualism and
authoritarianism. Individualism suggests that life belongs to a person and thus the person has a
right to choose thus has a right to live as he or she sees fit (Glass Rud, 2012). On the other hand,
authoritarianism is more of conformity behavior and compliance with perceived norms. However,
there is doubt if, authoritarianism ideology is antidemocratic and ant liberal and thus less clear
whether the ideology of authoritarianism reemphasize rights of an individual and pursuit of self
interest (Authoritative Parenting Style (n.d.). It is outrageous how some parents are home
schooling their children due to fear of individualism that according to them brings competitive
concerns. There taking advantage of the ideology that stands for non interference from any

Employee Retention Culture
Despite fluctuating economic times and increased globalization of American jobs, most
employers are finding it hard to keep good workers. The reality of today s job market is that
workers are expecting more from their employers and are not afraid to move on if their needs are
not met by your organization.
Based on compelling data from the Society for Human Resource Management and others who study
workforce trends, leading organizations must take time to analyze their retention realities and
ensure that the valuable employees they currently have are not seeking greener pastures.
How do great organizations maintain low levels of turnover and high levels of employee
satisfaction? The answer is found in one word: culture.
Organizations with high rates of employee retention concentrate on creating four distinct cultures
that keep people focused on the organization and its goals. The purpose of this article is to explore
these four cultures and to recommend practical strategies for developing these cultures in your
workplace. Effective retention cultures include an intense focus on choice, balance, development
and care.

Analysis Of The Book Coretta The Story Of Coretta...
Summary of the Text: The biography of Coretta: The Story of Coretta Scott King, was the first
biography made depicting Coretta s life, goals, and success. The book was written by a close
friend of hers whose name is Octavia Vivian. The story tells how Coretta, as a young woman,
had grown up in Alabama. She later went to Antioch College, and later found out that she, as a
colored young woman, would not be allowed to teach, mix, or mingle with the whites in the state
of Ohio. She later explored a musical career in Boston where she was to meet her future husband
Martin Luther King, Jr (Vivian). Coretta was born to her parents, whose names were Bernice
McMurry and Obadiah Scott, and grew up and was raised on her parent s farm located in
Heiberger, Alabama. Since she grew up during the time and era of segregation, she, as a child,
attended a one room school house and later graduated from Lincoln Normal School from a town
close by called Marion, Alabama. Vivian also mentions that Coretta s mother was a school bus
driver for all the colored children to be able to attend that particular school (Vivian). Later in the
1940s, Coretta attended Antioch College, located in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She studied music
education and sang in the school choirs and the local churches. In her senior year she went through
the issue of not being able to teach since Yellow Springs would not allow her to interact and mix,
as a colored woman and teacher, with the whites at their schools. Higher

Analysis Of The Quarterly Reporting System Of The Past
Mr. Williams,
You have hired me to build build a case for Suncor to forego the quarterly reporting system of the
past. In order to adopt a model that is more suitable for a sustainable business in todays ever
evolving energy sector. This executive brief is directed at providing you with the tools, facts and
necessary information to convince the board that Suncor must discard shot term reporting goals, in
order to position Suncor for long term sustainable success whilst maintaining Suncor s vision to
deliver economic prosperity, improved social well being and a healthy environment for today and
tomorrow.
To begin Mr. Williams, I would like to start off by addressing the financial benefits of foregoing the
short term reporting model. The obsession with short term results by investors, asset management
firms, and corporate managers collectively leads to the unintended consequences of destroying long
term value, decreasing market efficiency, reducing investment returns, and impeding efforts to
strengthen corporate governance . The quote above depicts a clear picture that most managers, even
Suncor s managers seem to have engrained in their minds. Short term goals to meet the quarterly
demands. However, this mindset is counterintuitive to long term sustainability. No manager, board
member, or executive is likely to believe that the day to day or even month to month fluctuations of
the stock market make him richer or poorer. With this information Mr. Williams, we must

Psychological Egoism (Philosophy Paper)
Psychological Egoism (Philosophy Paper)
Psychological egoism is the view that people are always selfish. When was the last time you did a
good deed? Did you do it for its own sake, or for your own? The egoist says that all of us are
necessarily self regarding. I shall argue that this view is incorrect.
First we should ask, what kind of claim is this? Is it an a priori claim, or a generalization from
experience? If it were the latter, we could never conclusively prove it: we could never show that
necessarily all actions are selfish. So it must be a priori. But no a priori claim could be
substantive: a priori truths are all analytic (that is, the predicate is contained in the subject). So if
this claim were analytic, it would become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compare the case in which someone types for hours on a philosophy paper and gets a cramp in
his hand. Did I type in order to get the cramp? Of course not. To be sure, it was a foreseeable result
of my typing, but it was not the motive for my heroic efforts.
Perhaps we can go further in refuting the egoist s claims. Phil Washburn presents the opposing view
in his book Philosophical Dilemmas. This is called psychological altruism. The altruist points to
phenomena such as love that seem to show that people can be genuinely other regarding.
What will the egoist say? The egoist has to admit that there seem to be acts of selflessness, such
as the soldier who jumps on a grenade to save his comrades. Here Washburn s egoist appeals to
re interpretation: there is always a competing story the egoist can give that makes the act turn out
to be selfish. Perhaps the soldier wanted to avoid the pain of living on as a coward, or wanted to
become a hero and bring glory to himself and his family.
Yes, perhaps. But it s not enough simply to present such a story: one must also give some reason
to suppose that it is true in the case at hand. Since egoism is an a priori claim, as we have seen, it
supposes that in every case such a story will be not just available but justified by the evidence. But
this is totally implausible. The egoist s just so stories are just so much hot air.

Drug Trafficking In The Cold War
Although Cold War may have put an end to tensions, it produced other unforeseen effects such as a
significant expansion in the trafficking of illegal drugs across the in home nation s boundaries.
International travel has become easier due to the increasing technology of airports, and as basically
made all nations hypothetically borderless. Even though international drugtrafficking organizations
(DTOs), such as the Cartel in Mexico, have never respected national boundaries, bigger markets
for drug production and easier transportation of the drugs, along with increasing drug use in poor
income areas, has impacted drug trafficking. Correspondingly, the universal market for drugs, and
the volume of sources to provide to the drug market, is developing exponentially around the world.
Once referred to as the American disease , Drug trafficking has now became a worldwide plague.
Intercontinental communities began to show interest in the Asian drug trade in the beginning of
the 20th century. The Shanghai Opium Commission in 1909 was the first attempt at regulating
drug trade in the region, as countries including the United States, Great Britain, China, Japan, and

The Big Five Personality Traits Essay
The personality trait that I chose is one of the big five personality traits known as Extraversion.
Extraversion is a trait, within the factor called plasticity, which relates to individuals who are
social and outgoing. More specifically, they like a lot of various stimulation, it comes of no
surprise that these individuals seek out people, activities and noisy places. These individuals can
seek excitement; they are impulsive, risk taking, argumentative and unreliable, while also
upbeat, optimistic, warm, assertive, and like to be active. As well, extroverts tend to be viewed
as more attractive and popular than introverts are, and can be seen attending more parties and
drinking in excess. The individual that I will address is, Hank Moody, the main character on the
T.V. show Californiacation. Hank approaches life in a satirical manner, making everything into
his own little joke, making life seem less serious. Hank is seen as a popular, enthusiastic,
assertive, dominant and attractive woman admirer, having a way with his words, which is related
to his career as a writer. His charming and warm approach also makes him successful with so many
women. Hank constantly seeks out attention and stimulating situations, whether it be fights, or
making his presence known in a room. He becomes victim to mate poaching at parties, and when
things finally look good for him and his ex, he gets swept up by other women and loses the
momentum he builds. In the show, Hank is always friending new

Merger and alliances to create new routes from Gatwick.
2.1 BRITISH MERGER AND ALLIANCES
The new group will combine the two companies in the UK and Spain and will enhance their
presence in the international long haul markets while retaining the individual brands and current
positions of each airline. British Airways and Iberia hope their new company International Airlines
Group, International Airlines Group, will position the pair for further consolidation in the global
airline sector as it emerges from a prolonged industry downturn and hope to compete with
multinational rivals Air France KLM and Lufthansa.
From a personal analysis it seems that the merger is likely to be more strategic for both companies
as Iberia is more dominant in South American destinations and British Airways flies to only three
South American destinations. The key benefit of the merger to BA would be the access to South
America. Similarly, Iberia will gain from BA s more extensive North American operations, with the
two carriers able to share information on fares, schedules and routes. They have identified Latin
America as a growth market, one where BA is under represented.
Willie Walsh has drawn a list of 12 possible airlines BA could merge with once the America airlines
and Iberia tie ups are completed. The choice of merging is positive in a sense that it will increase
the market share and BA has promised cheaper fares and even more jobs as part of a route sharing

In Chapter 9 (Ismene), there was a scene where a method of torture during interrogation was
using an old style telephone as a crank to get answers while being tortured. I couldn t ever
imagine being tortured like this and if I was ever in a situation where I was, more than likely I
would do everything in my power to stop it from happening. I remember reading They

Freud On Dreams
Sigmund Freud s research On Dreams offers an interesting perspective on how we comprehend
dreams. There are two significant ways how images are formed in our head when dreaming. The
first one is that the prior various experiences we have had in real life, form chains of association
in our dreams. The other one is repressed desires: the wishes we are unable to fulfill or unrealized
subconscious urges of our conscious and unconscious mind. Our ability to understand the
representation of dreams stem from the chains of association we have experienced in our real life
and the repressed desires of our conscious and unconscious mind.
First of all, we are able to understand the representation of dreams by chains of association because

dreams were much more common in children. While in adults, wish fulfillments of repressed
desires are less prominent. One of the children he did a case study on was very sick and had not
eaten for a day. At night, in her dream, she subconsciously ordered strawberries and eggs for
food. Such manifest content dreams of repressed desires of children not only apply to girls, but
also both genders. In another case study, a boy of eight was dreaming that he was driving with
Achilles in a war chariot, guided by Diomedes (Freud, 11). The day before, he had been reading
about ancient heroes, and thus felt regret for not living in those times. Another example is that a
22 month old boy was told to offer his uncle a basket of cherries as a gift. He was allowed only
one to consume, and later that night he dreamt of eating a basket full of cherries. As Freud stated
that the characteristic of dreams in children often manifest their connection with the life of the day
(Freud, 11). The human psychology of wish fulfillment expresses itself in another form of
repressed desires during dreaming. Children are simply more receptive to everyday occurrences and
thus express them unconscious in their dreams. As a result, there are

How To Write A Mockingjay Essay
Personally, I don t like to read books because I am not fond with reading and it s time consuming,
but reading the Mockingjay improved the bonds between me and books. I didn t realize how
interesting a book can be. While I was reading this book, I would think about what was going to
happen next in the story or how a problem would affect the story later on. The author put a lot of
situational irony in this bookwhich makes this story unpredictable. I even stayed up all night to
finish reading the majority of the book. I strongly recommend people who don t like reading
books to read the Mockingjay. I guarantee their bonds between books will also improve like mine.
You don t need to like any specific topics to read this book but you need to understand that the

In order to understand and aid an endangered organism it is important that one must be able to
identify spatial and temporal characteristics centered on the organism s means of energy intake.
This includes not only how they search, forage or capture their prey, but also what their prey is

aspect of an endangered species, the Leatherback Sea Turtles, in order to see how their prey
influences their foraging behavior and success. The problem that most researchers have been faced

The Importance Of Globalization In The World
Globalization seems to be highlighted only in its best or its worst times, the world s teleological
swing from connection to division. Yet we seem to be blind to the inclines and down falls. We
recognize innovation once it is complete, not while it is evolving, or we mourn over devastation
when the signs it was coming were there all along. As our society cycles through these peaks and
valleys we need to remember that ancient globalized societies rose and fell many times over.
Although or world changes and so does our definition of globalization we are still able to show
parallels of modern globalization in historical times. One amazing feat for globalization was the
astrolabe, it became a widely sought after tool in the mid 14th century. This demand for the tool
came about after Islamic peoples used it to find Mecca. Islamic, Jewish and Christian thinkers
revamped the astrolabe during a scientific revitalization. The tool shows many attributes from
each group: Arabic, old Spanish and Hebrew language was found on the astrolabe pictured in
MacGregor s writing Hebrew Astrolabe. The astrolabe does much more than tell your position it
can be used to find Mecca, tell time, survey and even find a person s horoscope. MacGregor goes
on to say that any explorer wanting to be taken seriously had to be well versed with this tool.
Although with a superb navigation tool comes drawbacks, such as who uses the tool and the places
that the tool takes them. Columbus happened to be one of these people, he used the astrolabe and
other tools to sail across the Atlantic and discover islands in the Caribbean. Columbus was lucky to
have a sort of perfect storm of new knowledge to help him cross the ocean. The introduction and
perfection of the cog ship allowed him to brave the open waters of the Atlantic. He also utilized
the discovery and knowledge of a Portuguese man named, Gil Eanns, who discovered and
documented the Volta Domar Largo, a method of sailing further out to sea to find a current to
push a ship back to where it came from. Once these Caribbean islands were discovered Columbus
took to conquering them all. After disease wiped out most of the native peoples the rest were
enslaved and their lands marginalized by Columbus

was a time where Canada changed saw the birth of many new technologies and the birth of a new
culture. Roaring in the sense of the Roaring Twenties means that things were fun, new, exciting,
and that people were having fun. The Roaring Twenties were truly a roaring decade in Canadian
history, this was due to the post war economic boom in Canada which lead to people having more
freedoms, and money to do what they wished with. People were also starting to invest more in
luxuries helping businesses and keeping the economy running smoothly. The Roaring Twenties

recognised by her signature look of bobbed hair and easy to move in clothing which resembled

instead of being restricted to what they normally could do. Flappers were able to take charge of
their lives and do what they wanted and do it when they wanted to, which really made the lives
of women during the 1920 s exciting and fun. A great example of this was smoking, flappers
started to smoke in the 1920 s which up until this point in time had only been done by man. The
image of a women smoking would have shocked anyone during the start of the Roaring
Twenties, but by the end of the decade women smoking was just a normal occurrence. Women
smoking showed how they now had freedom to do what they wanted and that they did have the
right to do what men do, if men are smoking cigarettes why should women not smoke. The
flapper girls started to smoke as a way to both rebel and to live a little, it was fun for them and it
almost made them more powerful as it pushed the boundaries of what women could do.
Smoking for the flapper girls as a result of pushing these boundaries became a fun activity that
made their lives much more exciting. Next another new thing flappers started to do was driving
cars. Cars were new and were very exciting and fast which was perfect for the fun flapper
lifestyle. Flappers loved cars as they were fast and very risky which was a great activity for the
flappers as they could now push the boundaries even more because they were doing the same
thing that the men were doing. Driving cars truly was able to show off a flapper s wild side as
they just wanted to have the excitement and the fun that comes along with driving a car. Finally
flappers drank alcohol during a time when it was prohibited.

past. One might think that a topic as simple as this one would have a simple solution; law
enforcement should be required to give a warning similar to the Miranda warningupon request to

warning is typically issued when a warranted arrest is made, however, this does not alleviate the
need for something similar to the Miranda warning in cases such as Florida v. Bostick in 1991. In

Why Fingerprint Analysis Is Used For The Sake Of Forensic...
Introduction
Friction ridge analysis, or fingerprint analysis has been used for the sake of forensic analysis for
over 100 years, and has perpetually been considered the most reliable technique of analysis.
However, in recent years, its reliability has begun to crumble due to certain standards set in the
United States of America. In this essay, fingerprintanalysis will be briefly described, along with
the framework of ACE V in which analysts work from looking primarily at its weaknesses and
criticisms. The Daubert standard will be outlined and a how a primary assumption of fingerprint
analysis violates a number of these standards. Also, to further strengthen the case as to why

Every single ridge has a row of sweat pores. When sweat seeps out of these pores, it runs over the
ridges. Thus, when a finger, palm, or foot touches a surface, an impression is made which in
technical terms is known as a latent print. However, when a print is collected from a police
station directly from the source, this is known as an exemplar print (Haber and Haber, 2008;
Creswell, 2015). The science of fingerprint analysis rests on three, recently, controversial
assumptions: Firstly, the ridge patterns never change during the life of a person; secondly, no two
individuals will have the same ridge patterns; lastly, the transferability of an impression of that
uniqueness to another surface. (Gianelli, 2006). This allowed for fingerprint analysts to form a
procedure which other experts around the world are invited to use, known as ACE V.
ACE V
ACE V which is an acronym which stands for Analysis in which analysts categorise certain features
of the print. Comparison where the latent print is compared to the known print of a suspect.
Evaluation is the stage in which the examiner is expected to make an inference as to whether the
latent print matches the print of the suspect or not. Finally, the process of Verification whereby, the
analyst sends their data to another expert to confirm their inference (Lawless, 2009). While this
loose methodology has been used seemingly successfully over the years, levels of

The Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument
A historical context of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument: United States
President, Barack Obama, declared the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument the
largest oceanic reserve system in the world through an expansion in protected territory by a
presidential proclamation on September 25th, 2014. The reserve system originally was formed on
January 6th, 2009 by a proclamation signed by President George W. Bush. The ocean ecosystems
now under protection are to the south and west of Hawaii in waters surrounding small islands and
reef systems under the United Statesjurisdiction (See Figure 1). These areas include, Kingman
Reef, Palmyra Atoll, Howland Island, Baker Island, Jarvis Island, Johnston Atoll, and Wake
Island. The total area now protected through this reserve system is 782,000 square miles
(2,030,000 km2) (Citation). In these newly protected regions it is now prohibited to fish, hunt,
or mine for resources due to these proclamations. After this expansion, the reserve system will
continue to serve as an invaluable area to monitor the effects of climate change and ocean
acidification especially on reef and deep water systems. The reserve will also serve as a valuable
repository for plant, animal, and microbial life for humans to use for discovery and to aid in
restocking depleted resources elsewhere. Many new species and forms of life still await discovery

Personal Property Legal Issue That Martin Faces Essay
I respectfully disagree with your analysis pertaining to the personal property legal issue that Martin
faces. I take issue with the way you are defining bailment and implying that Martin and Benjamin
had an agreement to valet Martins GTO. Therefore, I take issue with your bailment positioning
because that implies that the car thief and Martin had a personal agreement for him to park and
return the car. ( National Para Legal, ) states
The issue of whether or not a bailment has been created is important because, once a bailment has
been established, a duty of care attaches to the bailee. Failure to live up to this duty of care can
cause the bailee to be liable for any harm that results to the property from the failure of the bailee
to properly care for the property. However, if there is no bailment (only a custodial arrangement),
the custodian has no affirmative duty to safeguard the property (2016).
However, the only agreement that Martin had implied was with the restaurant, which was made in
good faith. Furthermore, the restaurant failed Martin because of their neglect to maintain their
company s property, which intern lead to the theft.
Moreover, I understand your thought process for the most recent purchaser exercising his good

With reality shows taking over airtime nowadays, psychological thrillers in television are a rare

Why Do Families Have A Coat Of Arms
Most families have a coat of arms. A coat of arms is a shield of a person, family, corporation, or

The Evolution Of Tourism
Since the beginning of human civilization in the world, travelling has been an ongoing event. The
early humans travelled for hunting and food gathering. Later, as society evolved, travelling became
more prominent but became limited to trade, pilgrimage, studies, migration, royal affairs and
exploration, rather than for pleasure and entertainment. From this knowledge it is evident that
travelling is part of human nature but tourismis a process and activities of a new and moderately
recent phenomenon. The evolution of tourism can be divided into three phases.
The First Phase
This beginning phase can be referred to as tourism before railways which represent the period
before 1840 where travelling was primarily undertaken for the purpose of trade and pilgrimage.
In the medieval period (12 17th century), the Europeans had different notions of travelling.
According to their belief, if someone did not visit any new places in one s own lifetime, they
were highly neglected in the society. So, every individual was supposed to visit at least Italy, as
Rome was recognized as their place of origin and a religious shrine too. This reveals that the
nature of tour was spiritually oriented. But towards the late medieval period, the reason for travel
drastically changed as most people started to travel abroad for the purpose of receiving higher
education during this period. The Aristocrats of the Europe used to send their children abroad for
attaining higher education. This kind of tourism is called Proto Tourism . In the 18th century, the
motive for travelling took a drastic change again. During this period sick people started to
undertake travel to spa for those days, Nice in France, Baden in Germany and Carlsberg in
Czechoslovakia were very popular for a spa in Europe. Gradually, the way of taking mineral
water and spa was changed to coastal areas where people believed that after taking a bath in the
sea, they would get recovered. From this, the sea bathing concept emerged. Due to the increase of
tourists visiting coastal areas, there became a dire need to build and as a result resorts started to
emerge in such destinations.
The Second Phase
The second phase of tourism marks the onset of the industrial revolution.

Sociological Aspects Of Social Psychology
Social Psychology
According to Gordon Allport , social psychology is an attempt to understand and explain how the
thought, feeling, and behavior of individuals is influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied
presence of others. (Allport, 1954)
There are two differing branches when referring to social psychology:
1. The sociological aspect of social psychology, which was mainly developed in Europe as a
subdivision of sociology.
2. The psychological aspect of social psychology, which was developed in the US
The differences between the two divisions are, that the sociological way of viewing social
psychology focusses more on group interaction, group processes, while the psychological aspects
of social psychology focusses more on the individual and how the individual is influenced and/or
behaves in social settings.
Sociological social psychology is very theory intensive and constructs itself out of
geisteswissenschaften (sciences of the spirit) and social sciences. Corresponding approaches are i.e.
critical theories, which also include psychoanalytical ideas. Some of the more notable sociological
psychologists include Sigmund Freud, Erich Fromm and Wilhelm Reich.
Coming back to the psychological branch of social psychology, we see its intentions lies in an
attempt to understand and explain how the thought, feelings and behavior of individuals are
influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others (Allport, The Person in
Psychology, 1968) Quantitative

Chapter 3: Define corporate responsibility (CSR). Describe the benefits. Why do some
executives support CSR while others find it troublesome and argue against it? Corporate social
responsibility is what a company uses to self regulate itself and refers to business practices
involving initiatives that benefit society. A business s CSR can encompass a wide variety of
tactics, from giving away a portion of a company s proceeds to charity and implementing greener
business operations. Companies use implement Corporate Social responsibilities for various
reasons and this can be argued. Large corporations have a more reasons for CSR to protect their

primary reasons companies use CSR is to preserve the environment. Many large corporations
have had bad track records in the past when it comes to pollution and a business no matter how

the amount of damage they do to the environment is good and that s why we see CSR being

Judge Dohi s Case Report
I went to Judge Dohi s court room to see the trial, but when I arrived it had still not begun and he
was doing arraignments. There was a hearing of someone pleading not guilty, so they told him he
had to have a trial before July of next year. Then, there was a pretrial and a misdemeanor hearing.
The trial started and before calling the next witness on stand the attorneys were talking about it.
The next witness had a conversation with the defendant. The defendant had told the witness don t
ever get your girls name or a girl s name tattooed on yourself. The defense counsel wanted to
exclude it because he though it was common advice. The prosecutor said that the advice given to
the witness can show that the relationship was rocky. I found this... Show more content on

She examined three knives in total and came up with conclusions of what knife did what damage.
The criminalist also talked about the location of the wounds. One of the witness s conclusion was
that the smaller knife didn t do much of the damage. Further, that the knife without the handle did
most of the damage but not all. Additionally, there was another knife that was similar to the one
without the handle. How she did this what by looking at the size of the knife and the lacerations
made. It was really cool that she brought a model of a wooden knife and a cardboard with slits to
demonstrate. The witness also said that she looked at 9 wounds to make her conclusions. The
next witness was another criminalist who opened up DNA and matched DNA from samples to
people. This was draining because the prosecutor had like 5 charts with numbers and she was
going through everything with the witness. I was thinking why doesn t she ask specific questions?
Why does the prosecutor have to go over everything? There was a constant repetition of the
witness saying that the match of the DNA was one in quintillion, which was okay for a few times
but it became straining. Judge Dohi was even trying t speed up the process. The Criminalist focused
on DNA did find that the red stain on the night drawer matched the defendant which places him
where the fire happened. Further, the handle DNA matched the

The Use of Humor in Richard Iii by Shakespeare
The Use of Humor in Richard III
There is no doubt that Shakespeare was the author of great pieces of literature during an interesting
time period. Given the circumstances, he was indeed mastering his craft during a very tumultuous
juncture in British history. When one reads Richard III, they don t necessarily have to know a
great deal about the War of Roses to understand that there is some serious strife going on.
However, if the reader takes some time to understand this fascinating string of events, the story of
Richard and his fall becomes much more interesting. In all of his brilliance, Shakespeare manages
to toy with the idea of humor in this very morose play. As a matter of fact, he does this in many, if
not all of his tragedies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the dialogue picks up again, and the bitterness continues. After she exits, they all talk to
each other, pretty much asking, what the heck was that all about?
The next scene also has some prime examples of humor in this play. Here, two murderers are sent
to kill Clarence. The text is so rich in indirectly describing the demeanor of these two, and the
reader undoubtedly chuckles when reading the dialogue between the two of them. Primarily,
the reader sees this in lines 110 115: I ll go back to the duke of Gloucester and tell him so.
/ Please, just wait a minute. I m hoping my holy mood will pass. / It usually only lasts about
twenty seconds. / How are you feeling now? / Actually, I m still feeling some pangs of
conscience. / Even in modern times, the idea of a conscience coming and going instead of being
unwavering is funny. Even funnier is the thief being aware of this, and saying, hang on, it ll pass
, as if his holy conscience were a case of bad gas or something like that. Further on, the two
murderers talk about conscience, and how nobody would listen to it even if it flew out of a wallet.
Of course, no Shakespeare play would be complete without the use of puns. Shakespeare uses this
type of humor as a witty way to keep the dialogue fresh and flowing. The reader gets a taste of
these funny little bits as early as the first act and first scene, when Brakenbury starts, With this, my
lord, myself have naught to

Definition Essay On Friendship
The word friendship is defined as having a relationship between you and a friend. The definition is
easier to interpret if you divide the word in half. A friend is someone you care about and someone
you trust with anything. The ship portion of the word refers specifically to the relationship you
have with someone. After reconstructing the word, you have friendship, which is mainly built from
trust, common interests and support.
Trust is the foundation of any friendship. Without trust, relationships shatter due to the uncertainty
of the other person s actions. For example, you can trust a true friend to be alone in your house
and expect him/her to resist the urge to steal valuables. On the other hand, if you leave a person
you assume you trust in your house with valuables, a less favorable outcome would occur. This is
the reason why trust is vital to every friendship.
Common interests are the cause of nearly all friendships. Whether it be that you both appreciate a
similar sports team or the same genre of movie, these are hobbies you both have in common.
Without common interests, the friendship will not be able to form correctly. Additionally, the
friendship will not last as long without similar interests. This is due to the lack ... Show more

A simple way to support your friend is to simply listen to their situation and picture yourself being
in that situation. After listening, you can provide ways to help by explaining routes they can take
to ensure him/herself into an improved position. If you can t imagine any solutions that can help
the person with their problem, redirect him/her to someone who can. This could be a family
member or another friend that has experience with the situation at hand. After assisting with their
problem, you should invite that person to an activity you ll both enjoy. Doing this will benefit the
friendship greatly since you re offering

New Technology Research Paper
Throughout the 20th century, the advancements of technology have increased, as well as the
population in each state prison. The real question is has technology advanced enough
throughout the years to help capture criminals more than the years past? Having new
technology will increase the number of criminals to be caught, even on cold case files. As the
years surpassed, cases became cold but only the technology has not. New systems were
implemented in DNA testing, allowing it to be easier to trace down one criminal. Tracing back to
earlier years you ll notice that s where most technology rose from. In the 1800s the first use of
toxicology (arsenic detection) was used in a jury. A few years after the first recorded use,
fingerprints helped linked suspected to crimes . The developments became easier to detect which
leads to the development of the first crystal test for hemoglobin hemin crystals. Shortly after, the...

The study of voice print identification was noticed to help the list of suspects narrow down to a
shorter list. Borkenstein came in with the invention of the breathalyzer for the field of sobriety
tests in 1954. Another invention helping out the judicial system is the development of scanning
electron microscopes with electron dispersive x ray technology, which helped with the lie
detector testing that was developed in 1902. The 21st century was where many advancements
were fixed and also created. The Department of Forensic Science will still develop and mature.
That will able police to solve more crimes that would have been considered beyond resolutional.
For example, the ten print system matching accuracy has gone up from 92% to 99%. Many people
do not know about the palm print database, but those are left at scenes 30% of the time, even
though it could be partial. Another example of this would be the facial recognition technology,
which pinpoints every last detail, resulting in a confirmed

Summary Of Fast Entertainment And Multitasking In An...
Although progression across the world may have slowed at times, progress has constantly been
made in just about every field imaginable. Technology has exploded in recent years, and such
developments have meant a lot for the future of communication amongst the human race. Of course,
as with nearly every other rapidly expanding medium that leads to drastic changes for the way
humans interact, there are analysts following the change. One such analyst is S. Craig Watkins,
who wrote an essay titled Fast Entertainment and Multitaskingin an Always On World in his book
The Young and the Digital (2009). In the essay, which numbers about nine pages, Watkins discusses

While writing this essay, I continued to glance at my phone and would occasionally get lost in
conversation. Eventually, I had to move my phone to another room to keep the temptation out of
sight. Although anecdotal, even this is a powerful message as to the negative impact of fast
entertainment. As I was reading through the essays in Signs of Life in the USA, I couldn t resist
writing about this particular essay because of the personal relevance that it contains. In this
writing, the author touches on many points, and delivers a powerful message against the life style
that is provoked by fast entertainment. One idea from the text that I found most striking was the
train incident in which twenty five people lost their lives because the driver of the train had been
distracted with his cellular device. Of course, this is an upsetting figure, and it goes an extremely
long way for expressing the negative implications with society s current enthrallment of digital
speed entertainment. I found these ideas to be are exceptionally interesting, and aside from the
obvious don t text and drive, most of these ideas are new to me. This text conveys an incredibly
crucial message that astounding numbers of people are unaware of; Although our modern lifestyle
may seem to be nothing but harmless (especially in regards to speedy entertainment or text
messaging), the truth is there s a landslide of underlying

Feedback Interpersonal Communication

2.1.Definition and explanation of the interpersonal skill of listening
Listening is defined as a circular response consisting of the following skills: receiving,
understanding, remembering, evaluation and responding (DeVito, 2011). The receiving aspect of
listening consists of the listener taking note of what is said and what isn t said; this links to the
understanding aspect of the overall concept, which entails the listener interpreting the signals of the
speaker and grasping the tone and thoughts expressed (DeVito, 2011). The remembering feature of
listening focuses attention on central ideas, organizing what is heard and identifying relationships

How Did The Fur Trade Affect The Cree Indian Culture
In the 1800s the fur trade had a great impact on the lifestyle of the Cree Indians, both economically
and culturally. The fur trade helped the Natives make an income and obtain goods they could not
get before. However great the impact of the fur trading was on their economy, the decline in fur
bearing animals had a devastating effect on their culture. It can therefore be said that although the
fur tradehad a positive short term impact on the Cree Indian s economy, in the long term, the
cultural ways of living that were adapted and lost impacted them negatively.
Early contact of the Europeans with the Cree allowed for the establishment of trading patterns.
Europeans discovered that the soft fur was ideal for processing into felt to decorate ... Show more

In addition to losing material such as ammunition and firearms that would have simplified their
hunting and fishing methods, the Europeans imposed their beliefs and ways of life onto the
natives. They imposed their religious beliefs on the Cree, gradually converting them to
Christianity (Vance). Also, because of alcoholism and diseases unknown to the Cree, the people
were left with no remedies to the illnesses, devastating the people in different ways. In addition to
all that was brought from the Europeans through the fur trade, the introduction to different
farming and hunting manners led them to alter their own way of life (Vance). The connection
that was established between the Cree and the Europeans impacted where the Cree decided to
live and even how they exploited the resources on which the trade and their survival was founded
(Carlos, Lewis). This is important because it demonstrates how the fur trade altered the Cree s
lifestyle. This led to the Cree s slowly forgetting how to hunt for their own food in their own ways.
It becomes clear from the above, that the Cree culture and their traditional lifestyle started to
slowly fade away and tat the European way of living introduce during the fur trade became more

Examples Of Abandonment In The Glass Menagerie
An action as extreme as abandonment can only be the result of one failing to find happiness in their
circumstances. People will often run away from their life to create one in which they hope to find
more meaning. In Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie, he presents the possible reasons
behind abandonment through Tom s attitude, actions, and thoughts.
To begin with, the author presents one important reason Tom abandons his family is his attitude
towards them. Firstly, Tom is bothered by Amanda when she advices to Tom to get rid of his bad
eating habits. However, Tom is annoyed by Amanda s comments and responds with, I haven t
enjoyed one bite of this dinner because of your constant directions on how to eat it. It s you that
make me rush through meals with your hawk like attentions to every bite I take (Williams 753).

An example of this is when Tom and his Mother have a huge argument after his mother insists on
taking Tom s book by D.H Lauren back to the library just because the book was too hideous to be
kept inside the house. Tom argues with her that he is the one that pays the rent therefore, he
should be able to keep the book in the house, he is also angry about not having enough privacy.
Amanda claims he has something to hide and does not think that he is going to the movies. Tom
Outrages and breaks Laura s Glass menagerie in an attempt to leave the house. He goes through a
series of violent, clumsy movements, seizing his overcoat, lunging to the door pulling it fiercely
open...it strikes against the shelf of Laura s glass collections, there is a tinkle of shattering glass
(Williams 760). This shows how angry and destructive Tom is towards his family which could
overtime potentially lead into him abandoning his family out of anger and disagreement with their
choices. Tom could also possibly want to leave them so that he could get the freedom he

  • 2. Religion In Bollywood Movies Significance of religion and Culture in Bollywood Movies India is considered as the inception of the mythological genre of film. The first feature film of India, Raja HarishChandra (1913) by Dadasaheb Phalke was the commencement of the explorations of the mythological genre of films (Dimitrova, 2016). Bollywood movies have been considered as the richest source of exploring religious and cultural values, (Dunmill. M 2007). Bollywood has produced several movies and TV shows predicated on gods. Religion composed a very sensitive issue in the Indian society. Hindu religion is the most commonly practiced religion in India, according to the 2011 census (Shrivastava, 2015). Movies that are against the religious credences of the audience are considered blasphemy or attack on the religious sentiments of the community (Qadri Mufti, 2017). Om Jai Jagadish (2002), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999) and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994) are some of the movies that represented a typical Indian, Hindu family by utilizing traditional costumes and festival celebrations. Dimitrova (2016) discussed the movie Lagaan (2001) and the portrayal of the religion, Hinduism in the movie. The movie was predicated in the North Indian village, Champaner, which is a part of the princely state in 1893 (Dimitrova, 2016). In the movie, British rulers are stereotyped and represented as cruel, arrogant and superficial. British rulers imposed a tax on the Indian villagers. • 3. Formative Vs. Summative Assessment Formative vs. Summative Assessment In today s schools, teachers are trying to decide which form of assessment, formative or summative, is a better measure of student s abilities. Teachers are constantly pressured to make sure their students are doing well on state wide assessments, therefore, making sure their students have the skills they need to succeed on these tests is extremely important. Bead Game is a stop motion animated film that was created by arranging single beads into shapes lines, mammals, and mythological creatures. Further into the film the creatures absorb and devour one another, creating other figures and creatures from the remaining beads. These beads end up evolving into scenes of modern human warfare. In the beginning of the film Patel begins with on simple white bead and continues to add other beads and color making his arrangements of the beads into animated figures. Patel animates the theory of human evolution by showing a monkey transforming into a caveman and then into present day human. The film is successful in synchronizing the characters towards the end of the film. Another historical event that is portrayed is ancient warfare, dating all the way back to what seems to be around 2700 BCE. I began to notice a pattern or a timeline up to this point, starting with the creation of life then going through important moments of the history of human creation. I think the creator of this film is trying to say that a design can start off as something so small and simple, and then fueled by creativity the design turns into an art form. • 7. Diseases Caused By The Protozoan Parasites Cryptosporidium... Introduction Parasites are organisms which live in close association to a host organism, the relationship is non mutualistic, in which the parasite benefits and the host incurs costs. (Roberts Janovy, 2008) The costs range from a visible form of reduced fecundity or survival, but also more subtly such as reduced attractiveness, leading to reduced mating success (Ebert, 2005). This essay will concentrate on two diseases caused by the protozoan parasites Cryptosporidium parvum and Toxoplasma gondii. Cryptosporidium parvum is an apicomplexan parasite that exhibits a faecal oral type life style. (Wiser, 2011) C. parvum causes the disease cryptosporidiosis, which infects the mammalian intestinal tract, specifically the distal small intestine. Moreover, it can also affect the respiratory tract in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent hosts. (Tzipori, 2014). Also, Toxoplasma gondii causes Toxoplasmosis, which predominantly is asymptomatic, however it can cause flu like symptoms and eye problems in a small number of hosts (Hunter Sibley, 2012). Biology Cryptosporidium parvum C.parvum is one of many Cryptosporidium species which can infect humans. the beginning of the life cycle starts with the ingestion of the C. parvum oocysts which can be seen in Figure 1 as stage 3. Once ingested the oocysts migrate with other ingested material along the digestive tract. The basis of the Trinity is that there is God the Father, Jesusthe Son, and the Holy Spirit. There are three separate parts, yet they make up one. While this is confusing to the naked ear, it actually makes logical sense on a deeper level. Scholars and philosophers struggled for years to give a valid explanation of the Trinity. Summary of the Text: The biography of Coretta: The Story of Coretta Scott King, was the first biography made depicting Coretta s life, goals, and success. She later went to Antioch College, and later found out that she, as a colored young woman, would not be allowed to teach, mix, or mingle with the whites in the state of Ohio. She later explored a musical career in Boston where she was to meet her future husband Martin Luther King, Jr (Vivian). Since she grew up during the time and era of segregation, she, as a child, attended a one room school house and later graduated from Lincoln Normal School from a town close by called Marion, Alabama. Vivian also mentions that Coretta s mother was a school bus driver for all the colored children to be able to attend that particular school (Vivian). First we should ask, what kind of claim is this? Is it an a priori claim, or a generalization from experience? If it were the latter, we could never conclusively prove it: we could never show that necessarily all actions are selfish. So it must be a priori. Phil Washburn presents the opposing view in his book Philosophical Dilemmas. This is called psychological altruism. The altruist points to phenomena such as love that seem to show that people can be genuinely other regarding. What will the egoist say? The egoist has to admit that there seem to be acts of selflessness, such as the soldier who jumps on a grenade to save his comrades. Here Washburn s egoist appeals to re interpretation: there is always a competing story the egoist can give that makes the act turn out to be selfish. Perhaps the soldier wanted to avoid the pain of living on as a coward, or wanted to become a hero and bring glory to himself and his family. Yes, perhaps. But it s not enough simply to present such a story: one must also give some reason to suppose that it is true in the case at hand. At night, in her dream, she subconsciously ordered strawberries and eggs for food. Such manifest content dreams of repressed desires of children not only apply to girls, but also both genders. In another case study, a boy of eight was dreaming that he was driving with Achilles in a war chariot, guided by Diomedes (Freud, 11). The day before, he had been reading about ancient heroes, and thus felt regret for not living in those times. Another example is that a 22 month old boy was told to offer his uncle a basket of cherries as a gift. He was allowed only one to consume, and later that night he dreamt of eating a basket full of cherries. As Freud stated that the characteristic of dreams in children often manifest their connection with the life of the day (Freud, 11). The human psychology of wish fulfillment expresses itself in another form of repressed desires during dreaming. Children are simply more receptive to everyday occurrences and thus express them unconscious in their dreams. As a result, there are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How To Write A Mockingjay Essay Personally, I don t like to read books because I am not fond with reading and it s time consuming, but reading the Mockingjay improved the bonds between me and books. I didn t realize how interesting a book can be. While I was reading this book, I would think about what was going to happen next in the story or how a problem would affect the story later on. The author put a lot of situational irony in this bookwhich makes this story unpredictable. I even stayed up all night to finish reading the majority of the book. I strongly recommend people who don t like reading books to read the Mockingjay. I guarantee their bonds between books will also improve like mine. You don t need to like any specific topics to read this book but you need to understand that the beginning of the book might be kind of boring but it helps you understand the story better. Yet we seem to be blind to the inclines and down falls. As our society cycles through these peaks and valleys we need to remember that ancient globalized societies rose and fell many times over. Although or world changes and so does our definition of globalization we are still able to show parallels of modern globalization in historical times. One amazing feat for globalization was the astrolabe, it became a widely sought after tool in the mid 14th century. This demand for the tool came about after Islamic peoples used it to find Mecca. Islamic, Jewish and Christian thinkers revamped the astrolabe during a scientific revitalization. The tool shows many attributes from each group: Arabic, old Spanish and Hebrew language was found on the astrolabe pictured in MacGregor s writing Hebrew Astrolabe. The astrolabe does much more than tell your position it can be used to find Mecca, tell time, survey and even find a person s horoscope. MacGregor goes on to say that any explorer wanting to be taken seriously had to be well versed with this tool. Although with a superb navigation tool comes drawbacks, such as who uses the tool and the places that the tool takes them. Columbus happened to be one of these people, he used the astrolabe and other tools to sail across the Atlantic and discover islands in the Caribbean. Columbus was lucky to have a sort of perfect storm of new knowledge to help him cross the ocean. The introduction and perfection of the cog ship allowed him to brave the open waters of the Atlantic. He also utilized the discovery and knowledge of a Portuguese man named, Gil Eanns, who discovered and documented the Volta Domar Largo, a method of sailing further out to sea to find a current to push a ship back to where it came from. In this essay, fingerprintanalysis will be briefly described, along with the framework of ACE V in which analysts work from looking primarily at its weaknesses and criticisms. When sweat seeps out of these pores, it runs over the ridges. Thus, when a finger, palm, or foot touches a surface, an impression is made which in technical terms is known as a latent print. However, when a print is collected from a police station directly from the source, this is known as an exemplar print (Haber and Haber, 2008; Creswell, 2015). The science of fingerprint analysis rests on three, recently, controversial assumptions: Firstly, the ridge patterns never change during the life of a person; secondly, no two individuals will have the same ridge patterns; lastly, the transferability of an impression of that uniqueness to another surface. (Gianelli, 2006). This allowed for fingerprint analysts to form a procedure which other experts around the world are invited to use, known as ACE V. ACE V ACE V which is an acronym which stands for Analysis in which analysts categorise certain features of the print. Comparison where the latent print is compared to the known print of a suspect. Evaluation is the stage in which the examiner is expected to make an inference as to whether the latent print matches the print of the suspect or not. Finally, the process of Verification whereby, the analyst sends their data to another expert to confirm their inference (Lawless, 2009). I take issue with the way you are defining bailment and implying that Martin and Benjamin had an agreement to valet Martins GTO. Therefore, I take issue with your bailment positioning because that implies that the car thief and Martin had a personal agreement for him to park and return the car. ( National Para Legal, ) states The issue of whether or not a bailment has been created is important because, once a bailment has been established, a duty of care attaches to the bailee. Failure to live up to this duty of care can cause the bailee to be liable for any harm that results to the property from the failure of the bailee to properly care for the property. However, if there is no bailment (only a custodial arrangement), the custodian has no affirmative duty to safeguard the property (2016). From this knowledge it is evident that travelling is part of human nature but tourismis a process and activities of a new and moderately recent phenomenon. The evolution of tourism can be divided into three phases. The First Phase This beginning phase can be referred to as tourism before railways which represent the period before 1840 where travelling was primarily undertaken for the purpose of trade and pilgrimage. In the medieval period (12 17th century), the Europeans had different notions of travelling. According to their belief, if someone did not visit any new places in one s own lifetime, they were highly neglected in the society. So, every individual was supposed to visit at least Italy, as Rome was recognized as their place of origin and a religious shrine too. This reveals that the nature of tour was spiritually oriented. But towards the late medieval period, the reason for travel drastically changed as most people started to travel abroad for the purpose of receiving higher education during this period. The Aristocrats of the Europe used to send their children abroad for attaining higher education. This kind of tourism is called Proto Tourism . In the 18th century, the motive for travelling took a drastic change again. During this period sick people started to undertake travel to spa for those days, Nice in France, Baden in Germany and Carlsberg in Czechoslovakia were very popular for a spa in Europe. Gradually, the way of taking mineral water and spa was changed to coastal areas where people believed that after taking a bath in the sea, they would get recovered. From this, the sea bathing concept emerged. Due to the increase of tourists visiting coastal areas, there became a dire need to build and as a result resorts started to emerge in such destinations. • 44. Definition Essay On Friendship The word friendship is defined as having a relationship between you and a friend. The definition is easier to interpret if you divide the word in half. A friend is someone you care about and someone you trust with anything. The ship portion of the word refers specifically to the relationship you have with someone. After reconstructing the word, you have friendship, which is mainly built from trust, common interests and support. Trust is the foundation of any friendship. Without trust, relationships shatter due to the uncertainty of the other person s actions. For example, you can trust a true friend to be alone in your house and expect him/her to resist the urge to steal valuables. On the other hand, if you leave a person you assume you trust in your house with valuables, a less favorable outcome would occur. This is the reason why trust is vital to every friendship. As I was reading through the essays in Signs of Life in the USA, I couldn t resist writing about this particular essay because of the personal relevance that it contains. In this writing, the author touches on many points, and delivers a powerful message against the life style that is provoked by fast entertainment. Of course, this is an upsetting figure, and it goes an extremely long way for expressing the negative implications with society s current enthrallment of digital speed entertainment.
