Psychology Case Study Mason Jones
Mason Jones is a three and a half year old preschool student whom struggles with several
developmental delays. The most prominent of Mason s delays appear to be his speech and
social development. In addition, Mason s gross and fine motor skills are not progressing
appropriately for a child his age as well. Mason is currently placed in a two and a half year old
preschool program although he will be turning four years old in August. Mason is the oldest of his
classmates; however, that is not apparent due to his developmental delays. Unfortunately, a major
challenge for Mason and his family is the fact that his parents are not in agreement with one another.
Mason s mother has stated that she will take whatever means necessary to accommodate her... Show

What Does The Vietnam Wall Mean
Does fear and reverence have the power to provoke people? In the short story, Once Upon A
Time, the author Nadine Gordimer, uses symbolism to convey how fear coupled with apartheid
can have devastating themes. On the contrary, in Alberto Rios poem The Vietnam Wall, Rios
shows how a little black marble wall has the magic to connect and affect diverse communities.
Rios uses imagery in his poem to convey themes of thanksgiving and reverence. Overall, the
symbolism and imagery both convey an idea about the individual s roles in society. To begin with,
the symbolism in the short story portrays fear and apartheid as the themes. The characters and the
setting both play a role in the symbolism. Foremost, the family lived in a house, in a suburb, in a
city. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The family lives a comfortable life on the inside. Additionally, Gordimer uses witches associated
reputation to indicate that this particular character will be vile in the fairytale aspect. The wise
old witch (the husband s mother) serves as the privileged whites who firmly encouraged
apartheid. She warned the family not to take anyone off the street. Gordimer connotes anyone to
the colored South Africans. She didn t want anyone that was colored to enter their home.
Furthermore, the glorified, blood curdling, protective wall embodies segregation. The disturbing
walls that were ameliorated in the short story, serves as a figurative force that further divides the
whites from the rest of the population (outsiders). Moreover, the little boy and his pets epitomize
blissful ignorance. Throughout most of the paranoia the parents participated in and perpetuated,
the young boy and his pets were playful, and entirely oblivious of everything. This is illustrated
in: The little boy was fascinated by the device and used it as a walkie talkie... as well as the little
boy and the pet dog raced gleefully ahead of the husband and the wife as

Social Security Trust Vs. Privatization
Social Security Trust v. Privatization
Debates over Social Security have been ongoing since its inception in 1935 until today. The trend
seems to be toward an increasing percentage of the American public, across party and demographic
lines, in favor of strengthening Social Security funding, and a willingness to pay more to preserve
and even improve benefits. However, the trend towards privatization of Social Security is also on
the rise. What is not clear is whether Americans favor privatization because of fears that the Social
Security Trust Fund is living on borrowed time.
The Social Security Act (SSA) of 1935 was drafted during the Great Depression as part of President
Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal. The SSA was an attempt to ... Show more content on

In 1965, Congress expanded the system to include Medicare, which provides both hospital and
physician coverage to the elderly and disabled. In 2003, Congress added a prescription drug
benefit to Medicare (Edwards 431, 540). Since the Social Security Act was signed into law, many
politicians have advocated for privatizing Social Security, even though Americans are in favor of
Social Security and wish to strengthen the program.
The American public strongly supports Social Security, across party and demographic lines. A
January 2013, National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) study, Strengthening Social
Security: What Do Americans Want?, found that Americans overwhelmingly support Social
Security and are willing to pay more to preserve and improve benefits. With more than 59
million or 18% of Americans receiving Social Security benefits, Americans recognize Social
Security as a critical program. A large majority of Americans say they do not mind paying Social
Security taxes because of the stability and security the benefits provide. These findings hold true
across party lines, those polled included 87% of Democrats, 72% of Republicans, and 81% of
Independents. 73% of Americans are also willing to pay for Social Security because they value it
for themselves and their families. 85% of Americans say Social Security is more important than
ever to ensure that the elderly and disabled have dependable income. These views cut across

The Bombing Of The Twin Towers
The bombing of the Twin Towers turned America s focused toward the Middle East. The War on
Terrorism began in earnest. This war has brought about more than one conflict. As a nation, the
United States is unique. The government is not run by any particular regime or religion, there is
freedom. Yet, this is our unique brand of freedom. The Middle Eastis full of peoples with their own
way of life that do not necessarily agree with the way we see freedom. Lila Abu Lughod discusses
one of the many difference between the United Statesand the Middle East, the use of head
coverings and the burqa, in her article Do Muslim Women Really Need Saving? She examines
the cultural significance and different types of veiling. Culture permeates every part of life. As
Americans, maybe this is harder to see. Yet, everything from the way we talk to what we choose
to wear is the result of culture. This makes it vital to understand that many things have a cultural
significance. Abu Lughod expresses her dismay over the obsession with the plight of Muslim
women being focused on the burqa (209). Many people have adopted the burqa as the symbol of
the oppression of Muslim women. Yet, the burqa is simply a form of covering originally specific
to the Pashtun people. Each form of covering is part of the Islamic religion. Each holds
significance for the community that wears it. The purpose of women wearing a veilof any kind is to
assure their protection in the public sphere from the harassment of

Don Quixote De La Mancha Research Paper
Don Quixote De La Mancha
In the world of literature, there are many great world that blow the minds of readers and
historians everywhere. However none of these works of literature have caused a great effect in the
world quite like Don Quixote De La Mancha, a novel written by Miguel de Cervantes in the 1600s.
Don Quixote de la Mancha is the jewel of Western Literature. It is the most commonly translated
and read book in the universe of Spanish literature, after the bible. It has been translated into
more than 60 languages worldwide. It has also been adapted into many films and plays. Now you
may be wondering why exactly Don Quixote de la Mancha has had more success than every other
book published. The reason why this is, is because Don ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He found such books were offensive because they presented fiction under the guise of historical
truth. He yearned to begin a new generation of comedic chivalry romances.
Miguel de Cervantes published the first volume of Don Quixote in 1605 on January 16. Ten
years later Cervantes published the second volume of the book in 1615. Cervantes got the idea
for the novel while spending time in jail for having problems in his job. He had a duty as a tax
collector for the Spanish Government. However he had mathematical conflicts, which were the
reason why he ended up locked away. He performed this job as tax collector as a day job in order to
make a living.
Characters From The Novel

who lives in the unknown village of La Mancha. He is a 50 year old, bachelor, and middle class
man who lives with his young niece who is no older than 20 and a fellow housekeeper. Alonso is
different and isolated from society because of his passion for reading books, especially chivalry.
However, he has managed to befriend the village s barber and the church priest. After spending a

Jose Garcia Villa s Footnote To Youth
The short story Footnotes to Youth , written by Filipino writer Jose Garcia Villa, talks about a
young boy at the age of seventeen Dodong, who was initially very enthusiastic about life, but
then the obstacles and tribulations of life got the best of him and made him became grim about
life. This goes for same for his wife Teang, who carried the burden of taking care of six children
and doing household chores, and as a result she became shapeless and thin. Both of their lives
became miserable after having children despite their young age.
By reading the literary text Footnotes to Youth , it is found that the theory of psychoanalysis is
applied in the story. Through the dreams and the thoughts of the character, it is shown that the
characters of the story had inner feelings within them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thought that life had been made ugly for him after his marriage to Teang. Teang felt the same,
as she wished that she was not married, or at least that she had no children. There is also denial
when Blas told his father, Dodong, about his proposal to Tona. Dodong couldn t believe that his
son was doing the same thing as he did eighteen years ago. However, he could not do anything but
to give his blessings to his son reluctantly and hoped that he would able to go through th tribulation
of life.
There is also evidence of archetypes, an easily recognizable role in literature and drama. It is
found that one character can have more than one archetype, as long they meet the requirements. In
the short story Footnotes to Youth , it is discovered that Teang was the anima, or the ideazed
female in Dodong s mind, as he constantly dreamt of her day and night. He desired her, and
wanted to marry her. Tona was the anima in Blas mind as well. The statement he gave to his father,
Dodong, that he wanted her, suggested that he had a sense of possessiveness within

Moving To A New Country Analysis
Moving to another country for establishing a new life, finding a better job or even studying have
always been a bold step in one s life. However, changing one s place is not the only thing that they
need to start their journey, but it requires more thorough changes related to traditions and customs.
Based on that, people are divided into two contrary groups, one supports following the customs of
the new country while the other encourages people to hold onto their beliefs. In my opinion, we
can discuss this topic according to three different levels: social, individual and personal level. First
of all, some people think that newcomers should follow the customs of the country where they will
live. They justify that by saying it helps them to assimilate

Renaissance Art Outline
1.The Renaissance got its start among the northern Italian city sates after a thousand years of
medieval brutality and barbarism, [Giorgio] Vasari claimed, Italian artists and thinkers had bravely
restored the lost perfection of art and philosophy as known as the ancients (Backman, page 373).
The cultural elite of the time was bringing the ideas, moral values, art, and civic mindedness back
to life to, what they believed, the two high points of Western culture: Periclean Athens and
Republican Rome (Backman, page373). Pier Paolo Vergerio, and early Renaissancewriter on
education, insisted that only the study of the classical liberal arts can lift society from the moral
and spiritual decay of the medieval era (Backman, page 374).This gave fresh hope and creative
energy to Europe(Backman,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a number of fundamental elements of humanism. One would be to prevail over
suffering and another, to change things in our lives for the better. To live life to the fullest, but
still help others live theirs that way as well. The best one can do is find comfort, beauty, or value
in the broken shards of the world scattered at one s feet (Backman, page 377).
3.Martin Luther s argument to the Catholic Church was against the church s practice of selling
indulgences (Backman, page 395). In order to be fully forgiven of sin, according to the Catholic
Doctrine, you must meet the four requirements: contrition, confession, absolution, and satisfaction.
After the first three, the forth one must then make some sort of restitution for what one did
(Backman, page 395). An exploit to this would be a special donation to the church was one way of
earning the indulgence (Backman, page 395).

Attention is something that is extremely important to always have. In chapter three, the author
stated attention can be defined as a concentration of mental activity that allows you to take in a
limited portion of the vast stream of information available from both your sensory world and
memory (Shomstein, Styles, Weierich Barrett, p.79). In the Stroop Effect I can see that a person

aluminum foil will be the best insulator. Afterward, Kritika gave a plastic cup to each team and

Dodge Charger Research Papers
The Dodge Charger has become an American classic. If you re in the market for a big, powerful

However, the Charger did not fare so well in side impact crash tests, earning the second worst
score from IIHS. Safety features for the Charger include antilock disc brakes as well as standard
side curtain airbags. Fuel economy Gas mileage for the 2010 Dodge Charger will vary
depending on which model you choose. The base model, with its relatively puny V6, has
surprisingly unimpressive gas mileage, burning through 18 MPG in the city, 26 on the highway,
and 21 combined. Compare this to the 3.5 and Rallye models which have standard ratings of 17
/25/20 for the all wheel drive model, and only slightly worse for the rear wheel drive. Stepping up
to the V8 engines predictably decreases fuel mileage. The R/T has fuel economy ratings of 16/25
/19 while the SRT8 comes in at 13/19/15.

The Myth Of Albert Einstein
With a name synonymous to genius, Albert Einstein is undoubtedly one of the most influential
men in modern physics and philosophy of science. Who exactly is Albert Einstein? Born in the
German Empire in 1879, Albert Einstein was not thought initially by his peers to be anything
special. There is a lot of myth surrounding Einstein s schooling with statements like Einstein
failed math or Einstein did bad in school , but these were simply myths and not much more.
Einstein did extremely well in school and did amazing in mathematics specifically (having
mastered calculus on his own at age 15). The issue was that Einstein had a tendency to skip class
and go off on his own doing personal research and discovery. It was in this erratic method of his
that caused colleagues and employers to avoid his company and led to the developed opinion
that Einstein was not destined for a life of research and discovery. Although Einstein seeked out a
position in the sciences, nobody would take him on as an assistant nor a colleague which
ultimately led to him becoming a worker at the Swiss patent office. The prospect of Einstein ever
entering into the academic stream looked grim. He had derailed his education and reputation. He
was disregarded in the scientific community for his poor work ethic and failure to comply with
traditional scientific method. However, in 1905 at the age of 26, Einstein went on to publish four
papers that changed his academic merit entirely. March saw Einstein s

The Case Of William Marbury Deserved The Commission Or Not
This case was a case for the ages that challenged the very decision of our newly elected president.
The former President Adam after a grueling election has lost and in order to maintain the legacy of
the Federalist, he began to appoint justices to the Supreme Court. These judges were appointed by
the president and confirmed by the Senate, but unfortunately for these justices, the letters that
confirmed the appointment never reached the potential justices. Adams was working quickly to
push the appointments through, but unfortunately he ran out of time and Jefferson took office.
Jefferson saw the appointment letters on his desk and discarded them. One of the potential justices
was William Marbury and he sued the president for his Supreme Court appointment. His goal was
to have the court to order a writ of mandamus, which if completed, would order a government
official to fulfil their official duties. The Chief justice presented three questions that needed to be
decided by the court. The first issue addressed was whether William Marbury deserved the
commission or not. The court opened the questioned if the law had a remedy for the situation. The
final question was whether the writ of mandamus the appropriate legal action in the case. These
questions were debated and the court confirmed that Marbury deserved the commission, but they
found that the Judiciary Act of 1789 which allowed the court to submit the very writ of mandamus
Marbury needed was unconstitutional. According

Beowulf Christian Beliefs
The epic poem of Beowulf is one of the most well known stories in European history. The poem,
believed to be first written in 1000 CE, though probably around at least 300 years older, is a
story of a Geatish hero by the name of Beowulf who travels to the Danes to earn valor and
heroism for his name. In the epic there are many examples of what Thomas Hill refers to as
peculiar spiritual atmosphere , this is the combination of both pagan and Christian beliefs and
values in the epic. While many other early medieval texts are either emphatically and militantly
Christian or unapologetically pagan or secular, in their viewpoint Beowulfis neither (Hill 198 199).

They are considered to be Noachites, that is, gentiles who share the religious heritage and
knowledge of Noah and his sons without having access to the revealed knowledge of God which
was granted to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob a tradition culminate by the revelation of the Law to
Moses and continued by the charismatic tradition of prophecy in Israel. Every reference in the
poem which touches on religion can be understood in these terms except for one lines 179 83 in
which the poet apparently condemns Hrothgar and the Danes for idol worship (Hill 202). The
epic holds the values of Pagan ancestors and their Christian beliefs to be values that should be
upheld in their most important traditions. Even if their ancestors weren t Christian, they still
followed their value system. Many of the characters in the epic seem to talk in a monotheistic
perspective that the Germanic warriors of the time would not have used. This shows evidence
that the epic was recorded by a monk who held strong Christian values. For example, after the
warriors finished their sea voyage to the Danes, they praised God for giving them safe journey,
while the warriors of the time would have been more likely to praise either Thor or Odin, gods of
the religion practiced at the time in that area. Also, the condemnation of idol worship, when
Beowulf condemned the idol worship

Human Traits Are Biologically Pasted Down By Parents
The nature vs. nurture issues is the most important study of human development for many reasons.
In fact, both issues play an important role in human development over time. One main reason why
nature vs. nurture is an important study in psychology today is because of its developmental traits.
Traits are characteristics inherited from your parents. Also, a trait can be something that is past
down from generation, such as a person s personality. The author stated many different interactions
between nature and nurture. One nurtures interaction the author stated was that human traits are
biologically pasted down by parents . I strongly agree with the author and believe that some traits

In my opinion, It seems that this battle between nature and nurture will go on forever because both
sides can be easily backed up with supporting information as to which is more important. Plus we
receive genes from our family, but our environment and nurturing can alter that if strong enough, as
an influence. Whether we notice it or not, nature and nurture are mixed in with each other,
influencing traits of everyone. Overall, my personal thoughts about reading this article concluded
two assumptions. The first assumptions about this article were that it was very influential and
cover everything we ve been discussing in class. For instance, nature and nurture and the different

Women s Role In The Bible Research Paper
Women played an important role in every aspect of our lives. Women are the moms, teachers,

the only people who were allowed to serve in such places. Women are only allowed to be an
internal spiritual or religious experience, but are often denied leadership roles or roles that foster
any form of externalization of their faith . As our guest speaker Nan said, they think women
should stay in the house with their children. They also believe their voices are not loud enough for
everyone to understand what they are saying. Some people would even interpret the Bible the way

The Importance Of Inclusion In Special Education
The term inclusion is defined as being included within a group or structure. In education, this refers
to the inclusion of special needs students with non disabled students for the entire, or most of, the
school day. In most schools today, students with special needs are separated from the other students
for the majority of the day. The debate of how special needs students should be incorporated in
schools has been going on for years. There is an argument to both sides of this debate, however,
both have to consider segregation, inclusion, integration and ultimately respect. For many years
school systems have been attempting to perfect special education. They have been developing new
techniques and skills to better suit different disabilities that a student might have. The question at
hand now is if the segregation of students with disabilities from those without disabilities should be
the standard for all schools. Mary and Kenneth Smith, authors of I Believe in Inclusion but...,
conducted a study to describe teacher s perceptions of factors that contributed or hindered success in
inclusion based classrooms. The study suggests that students with special needs need more
attention than other students. Research has indicated that classroom teachers may be very skeptical
of inclusion and that they strongly expect that the practice will present inherent problems. (Smith,
Mary K., and Kenneth E. Smith 80 161). Another reason that Smith and Smith make is that with

Confucianism Research Paper
Confucianism Research Project Confucianism has easily been influential in the development of the
Chinese state through history. In fact, the core ideals of Confucianism have evolved. Despite the
harsh repression of Confucianism by Marxist revolutionaries during the second half of the twentieth
century, Confucian values continues to be influential in Chinese society and recently, Confucian
political philosophy has resurfaced again. In addition, the political ideas and social ethics of

(Adler 5) In fact, politicized Confucianism was used to support conservative agendas, such as
absolute obedience of elders and strict subjugation of women to men, during the Ming and Qing
dynasties. Furthermore, the Marxist revolutionary government of Communist China dealt with
Confucianism negatively. In the early 20th century, both before and after the fall of the Qing
dynasty, Confucianism was harshly criticized by the New Culture Movement. (Adler 6) The
assumption of this movement was that virtually everything about China s traditional culture was
holding it back from becoming a modern nation state. In fact, Confucianism was high on the list of
culprits in this blanket rejection of traditional China. The New Culture Movement criticized
Confucianism for its age and gender based hierarchies, which had become quite rigid during the
Ming and Qing dynasties. Communist thinkers also joined this anti Confucian trend, so by the
time of the Communist victory in 1949 Confucianism in mainland China seemed virtually dead.
(Adler 7) After the Communists took power their anti Confucian rhetoric only increased. In
addition to their professed opposition to social hierarchies, they viewed Confucianism as a feudal
ideology. (Adler 8) Daniel Bell s proposal is in response to Jiang Qing s recent

Neal Miller John Dollard Neal Miller, a well known psychologist, was an important theorist who
dedicated a lot of time and effort into studying the work of Sigmund Freud and Clark Hull. Miller
became interested in Clark Hull s work on his study of classical conditioning (Coon, 2010). While

Frustration and Aggression (Coon, 2010). After this book was wrote, Miller and Dollard joined

Personal Response For The Book Thief
The Book Thief I believe that the theme of the book thief is the power of words. I chose this
theme specifically because one, it was the theme that was repeated in the book and two, because
without words there wouldn t be a story. For example, Lisle learning how to read and define
words with her father made them have a closer relationship. From there, I believe is where the
usage of words began to have a big impact to the plot. Knowing how to read not only allowed
Liesel to read her first stolen book but it gave her additional desire to steal other books. Words
introduce Liesel to Ilsa Hermann. They became close as well, giving Liesel more variety to the
collection of her stolen books. Towards the end of the story, Ilsa gave Liesel a journal which saved
her life. If it wasn t for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When I drive by a new house being advertised for a sale or search for homes on Zillow, I can t

locals on the islands are looking else where to buy homes because it s just that hard. But there
could be a solution to that problem, simply to use our land to build more homes. Ho opili a new

Beast Fables In The Manciple s Tale
Beast fables function on both a covert and over basis in narrative. The beast fable is a type of fable
in which human behavior and weaknesses are subject to scrutiny by reflection into the animal
kingdom. The Manciple s Tale within Chaucer s Canterbury Tales depicts the discourse between
hierarchical classes in relationship with ideals and societal expectations regarding agency within
the class system implying that humans are the monsters because of their heinous actions toward
one another. The class system is stratified within the tale through careful depictions of Phoebus, his
wife, and the crow they serve to illustrate the inconsistencies that accompany the stagnant medieval
social hierarchy, while questioning the implications of violating one s expected norms. The crow

the mutability of human will and deeds are presented to the audience again, but in a new
perspective possibly because the pilgrimage is about the end. Simultaneously, the lack of agency
the wife has works to strengthen the discourse between the societal stations, and the implications
of being of high, middle, or lower class. Later, in lines 172 and 173 Chaucer again calls the
medieval hierarchy into question, For ever this bird will work diligently to escape out of his cage,
if he can. Chaucer implies that cage of the immobile class system employed during this time period
should be tested, and potentially reformed. However, the climactic othering and silencing of the
crow at the tales end implies that there are obvious consequences for overstepping one s station.

Cuckoo s Nest Symbolism

Mechanical influence of the combine Chief Bromden believes that Nurse Ratched is able to
turn on a fog machine that fills the whole ward with fog, obscuring his vision. Because of his
schizophrenia, this fog is clearly shown to be a hallucination, but it carries great symbolic
meaning. The fog machines in the ward are reminiscent of the Chief s time in the army, where
fog machines were used to obscure the airfields. He says that while the fog machines were
operating, you couldn t see nothing but white (p 131). The fog symbolises the anonymity that
results from conforming to the rules of the ward, and the Chief uses this anonymity to protect
himself from the punishments of Nurse Ratched. It also symbolises when he loses grip of
reality, either as a result of his medication or out of fear. The rules and regulations of the ward

Separation Of Government Power
The founding founders, of the United States of America, had the foresight to understand that a
government s power should not be absolute and unchecked. With this in mind, they wrote the
Constitution to account for this. They divided the government into three branches with a different
function for each branch. The provisions of this are written in the first three Articles of the
Constitution. These Articles established a separation of power by dividing powers between the
following three branches: the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch.
The goal of dividing powers is to ensure that each branch of government is not more powerful than
the other. It also ensures that each branch is accountable to the other branch (The White, n.d.).
This is done through checks and balances where a branch can allow or deny the action of another
branch. The legislative Branch is covered under Article I. The Executive Branch is covered by
Article II. Article III covers the Legislative Powers.
The Legislative Branch is established by Article I. Its function is to enact legislation. This means
that this branch creates and processes laws. It is made up of a House of Representatives and a

Modernism is where everything has a deep, sometimes metaphorical meaning. Modernism also
believes that all problems can be solved with new inventions and innovations, along with a truth
that can be searched for and found if you persist in pursuing the truth. There is really no meaning
behind much of Slaughterhouse Five, and there definitely is no truth in the book to be found.
This is evidenced in many points in the book, like one where Billy looked down the street, saw a
new Buick... He closed his eyes, and opened them again. He was still weeping, but he was back
in Luxembourg again. (Vonnegut 63). This passage, talking about Billy traveling back in time
to World War II, refers to the lack of meaning of time in the book. The book jumps around in time
and continually just talks about random events that relate to Billy Pilgrim. The book also
debunks the Modernist idea that all problems can be solved with new inventions. Responding to
Billy s question about how the Universe ends, the Tralfamadorians reply We blow it up,
experimenting with new fuels for our flying saucers. (117 ). This is a direct blow to Modernism,
stating how new inventions are not for the best or necessarily useful. The book also goes against
the Modernist idea of the American dream, with Billy Pilgrim just wanting to be left alone. He
achieves what many would describe as the American dream, but does not want that. He would
rather be left

Research on IT Project Management Assessment
Introduction:
Project Management is a way to manage, maintain and to monitor the progress of a project. Project
Manager is responsible for appropriate management; it is their duty to organize, plan, implement
and deliver necessities with in time. Project Management deals with the rules, regulations,
procedures and disciplines with respect to a particular project. In the world of today, several
organizations are using the applications of project management because it assists in avoiding risk
and it measures or evaluate quantitative and qualitative project outcomes more frequently.
It can move without difficulty between industries and disciplines like IT projects, HR
organizational change projects, events management etc. because the span of experience and
understanding allows to understand what is required quickly enough, and the approach is strong
enough that can manage almost anything.
Explain project management as a discipline.
Project Management as discipline describes how to teach, expedite, and help the team, helping it to
deal with threats and difficulties found when building software. Project Management is a canopy

My Personal Experience Of Sexuality Education At Avondale...
The time at which we are at school is thought to be one of the most critical times of our lives. It is a
period in our life in which we start discovering ourselves and our sexualities.School is an institution
that is thought to provide enrichment in all aspects, not just academic stimulation but also emotional
maturity and psychological development.Sexuality education therefore has become a fundamental
aspect of one s learning as it not only enables us to formulate ideas regarding sexual identity and
gender but also allows us acknowledge ourselves as sexual beings. It can be argued that sexuality is
not the property of the individual and is not a hormonally or biologically given quality (Epstein,O
Flynn and Telford, 2003) but rather it is a socially constructed paradigm or notion that permeates
almost all aspects of not just schooling but our society, both formally and informally. This notion of
sexuality is ever changing and it is made dynamic by particular events in history that change our
perspectives and priorities.By using my personal experience of sexuality education at Avondale
College and St.Dominic s College,I aim to demonstrate the ever increasing importance of
comprehensive sexuality education in New Zealand and show how the current curriculum very
successfully promotes heteronormativity but often fails to wholeheartedly acknowledge
desire, homosexualtity and teenage pregnancy. This failure to acknowlege key aspects of sexuality
in schools has numerous consequences

Jeff Skilling was a mitigating factor, propelling this company to epic proportions prior to its
demise. The PRC and trading area, made an environment that pushed social facilitation and social
learning theory to the limits. The focus of the company was to implement conceptual ideas and to
garner immediate profits. The employees became disciples of Lay and Skilling and saw only results
and profits, they never questioned the moral implications of their actions.

The leaders were using a goal and rewards based system to encourage the maximum potential of
the traders. Conceptually this was successful, however in the State of California s power
deregulation, it was an ethical abomination. The traders used every loop hole imaginable to profit,
including rolling blackouts and power plant shut downs. Raising the price of power even thought
there was power for everyone, only its manipulation fed the traders ego s and Enron s bottom line.
This atmosphere of someone is always watch and evaluating you and your performance level leads
to social facilitation. Everyone wants to do their absolute best when they know that the boss is
watching. In this case everyone is watch always so it magnifies the results obtained from a single
individual. Teamwork was seemingly not embraced but rather the concept of self edification
through wealth as the ultimate goal.
Once the charismatic leadership of Skilling had promoted conformity among the employees. The
nonconformist employees were essentially voted out to keep the idealized vision and toxic work
place intact. Skilling had many of the attributes of a fine leader, but was devoid of integrity. This
loss of personal conscience is a serious character flaw in any leader. The staff emulated Skilling in
this, exhibiting little if any personal guilt for their own actions and behavior.

Abraham Flexner s Medical Schools
In the beginning of 1909, Abraham Flexner was sent on a yearlong mission sponsored by
Andrew Carnegie to evaluate the teaching methods and facilities of America s one hundred and
forty eight medical schools. One of the schools he had evaluated was the medical school of the
city of Des Moines, Iowa. The dean of the school had rushed through their meeting, and Flexner
was not allowed in any of the classrooms. There were also no faculty members available for an
interview and no students. After the meeting Flexner asked the dean if he could drop him off at
depot so he could catch the next train to Iowa City. After he had been dropped off and the dean
had left, he hired a horse and carriage to take him back to the school. When he got there, he slipped

The college found that many of the surgeries were unsupervised and performed in hospitals without

hospital administrators to ask the college to publish examples of records, define laboratory

Utilising A Wide Range Of Sources Critically Evaluate And...
Utilising a wide range of sources critically evaluate and discuss the following statement:
Dangerousness is said to be socially constructed.
Dangerousness is a term that is used in various settings such as legal, academic, administrative and
popular discourse (Bennett, n.d:3.). The meaning of the term can vary throughout the different
settings (ibid). In criminology the term often corresponds with acts of violence, and is used to label
an offenders potential level of risk of harm they may cause (Farrington and Tarling, 1985:175).
Someone who is labelled as dangerous is thought to pose as a threat or risk to society. However,
dangerousness is not easily defined; it can actually cover a range of factors; which makes it
more of an umbrella term. For example, three distinct constructs such as risk factors, potential
harm, and risk level are used to determine dangerousness (Greene and Wrightsman, 2007:263).
Nevertheless, even though the term lacks a clear and concise definition, it is used on a daily
basis to make very important decisions regarding offenders who have been previously convicted
of a specified offence such as, a violent offence, or a sexual offence (Legislation.gov.uk, 2003).
Society is becoming increasingly obsessed with danger or risks to health and safety, and anxiety
and fear are becoming a more dominated feature in everyday life (Furedi, 2007:198). It is thought
that dangerousness is a product of societal construction, this essay will assess how

Villains In Gotham
Gotham has a brilliant roster of villains. Season 3 finished its filming before they were signed off
to the fourth season, so there were some decent tie ups to leave us to interpret. Because we know
where the characters are going, we were fulfilled. However, even if we still know where they are
going, doesn t mean the ride can t be a blast. Gotham is devoted to each character, the show
proves it, and the series delves into the minds of the iconic evils. Thus far, Riddler, Penguin,
Poison Ivy are powerfully developed and Gotham continues to introduce more, even Hugo Strange
and Mr. Freeze have made an appearance.
Excitedly, TV Guide Magazine s Comic Con Special reports that Gotham season 4 will have a huge
character from Batman: The Long Halloween. The executive producer himself says probably the
most graphically violent, terrifying villain we ve brought in. Some people would call him a butcher.
And coming from Gotham s producer, John Stephens, that means bring on the gore.
Fans are speculating that Stephens is meaning Holiday. Those who have followed through the
thirteen issue maxiseries are approving this speculation. The gist of the story is that Gotham City ...

The Falcone family has a major presence in Gotham, so the assumption is Alberto will show
himself. Gilda Dent might be slightly trickier because of her relationship to Harvey Dent. As we
know, he is yet to be introduced but Stephens did peak interest to the idea of Two Face being
played by a woman. The show already carries strong overtones of queer romances, the Penguin s
love for Nygma, Barbara and Tabitha, and portrayed a temporarily healthy relationship between
Barbara and Renee Montoya. It is exciting to see Stephens play with the idea. Whichever way
this will go down, Gotham will always be fascinating to how they explore evil. Television and
films can t do enough to see how deep evil can

Organismal Biology
Organismal biology is the study of structure, function, ecology, and evolution at the level of the
organism. An understanding of the biology of animals and plants allows for a better prediction of
impacts on these organisms from human activity. Having a biological understanding of these
organisms also allows for better conservation practices. Organismal biology will allow me to have
in depth knowledge of speciesbehavior, physiology, and evolutionary history, which is essential
information when making management and conservation plans for specific species. Understanding
the genetic structure and background, and evolutionary history of species and populations allows
for a better understanding of patterns of dispersal, and allows predictions to be made about how
species will react to future environmental threats such as climate change.

tools such as ways to model and organize ecosystems, which is necessary for areas such as wildlife

Women In King Arthur And The Round Table
Do you ever wonder what women were like in the middle ages? In Roger Lancelyn Green s book
King Arthur and the Round Table, women aren t all that nice or trust worthy. In Green s version
of the Arthurian Legend, women are either evil, curse or curse objects or animals, or cheated on
their husbands. Some of the women in Green s book are evil. Well, said the Lady of the Lake,
give me the head of this knight who but now drew the sword which the damsel brought. I had
rather that you had cut off her head but it is too late for that (p. 25). In this quote the Lady of the

Tidal Energy
Introduction
Climate change refers to any long term change in Earth s climate, or in the climate of a region or
city. This includes warming, cooling and changes besides temperature. (NASA Oct.2011) Earth is
going through the climate change of global warming. Climate change is causing a big threat that
would cause great catastrophe to the world and this problem will influence everyone around the
world. These changes are caused by the greenhouse gases which are produced when burning fossil
fuels and transportation. When fossil fuels are burned, they generate a fair amount of energy for
people, but at the same time, produce large amounts of pollution that damages our Earth. To slow
down climate change, we need to start making changes and shift our sole energy source from
burning fossil fuels to an alternative renewable energy source. While tidal energy is an interesting
technology and is capable of providing us a carbon free society, but it can never generate enough
energy to reduce the burning of fossil fuels because of the massive cost for the project and there is
limited places in the world to install the technology.

Tidal energy is converted based on the movements of tides. Tidal poweris the result of Earth s
rotation combined with the sun and moon s gravity. The tides come mostly from the Moon s
gravity and a little from the Sun s gravity. So as the Earth rotates, the ocean surface rises and
falls. Compared to nuclear reserves or fossil fuels, the resource of tidal energy will not run out or
end unless the sun and moon does. Usually, there are two high tides and two low tides each day.
With all the water moving up and down, we can capture the kinetic energy from the tides. It works
just like wind turbine except ocean tides turn the blades instead of wind. (Climate Kids,

Spot Fake Cashiers
Four Tips to Help a Small Business Owner Spot Fake $10 and $20 Bills
If you own a retail business that takes cash, it is important that you train your cashiers to spot fake
currency. For many businesses, it is a basic strategy to simply refuse bills over twenty dollars, but
you still have to deal with the problem of counterfeit $10 and $20 bills. The following are a few
things you and your cashiers should know to spot fake money in you store.
Look for the watermark
This is an image that can be seen when you hold the bill up to the light. The watermark will be a
face, and it will be the same face as the portrait on the bill. It will also be on the right side of the
front of the bill. There are several ways to detect a fake bill using the ... Show more content on

If you look closely when holding up the note to the light, you can see this thread. It is not printed,
but is a thread that is embedded in the bill. In addition, there is printing on the thread. For the $10
and $20 bills, there will be the letters USA. After this will be the word ten or twenty, depending
upon the denomination.
Using a counterfeit money detection pen
These pens are easy to use and are an important weapon in detecting counterfeit bills. Basically,
you make a mark on the bill the same way you would when using a felt pen. If the mark changes to
a color indicated by the manufacturer of the pen, then the bill is fake. These pens are checking for
certain common chemicals that are used when criminals produce fake money.
Check for the feel of the note and the printing
If you are still unsure after the above three checks, you can take a bill that is known to be
authentic and compare this to the suspicious bill. The first thing to compare is the feel of the bill.
Fake bills may have a thinner texture to them. A better comparison is with the printing. Authentic
bills have small and detailed printing that is produced from metal plates. When a bill is a forgery,
the details on a bill are often blurry. A magnifying glass is best used to detect these

Eliot s Poetry Of A Divided Mind
Lips that would kiss | Form prayers to broken stone. To what extent and in what ways is Eliot s
poetry testament to a divided mind?
W.B. Yeats famously said that poetry was born from a quarrel with ourselves, and Faulkner later
added in his Nobel Prize Speech that good writing comes only from the problems of the human
heart in conflict with itself. These insights are no more apt than when applied to the poetry of T.S.
Eliot. Exploding onto the poetic scene in 1915, Eliot and his friend Ezra Pound were at the
forefront of the modernist movement. They reacted strongly against the traditional techniques of
the Georgians and others who came before them, who seemed to the modernists to be attempting to
represent the modern world in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his essay Tradition and the Individual Talent (1919) Eliot controversially argues that The
emotion of art is impersonal, and claims: Impressions and experiences which are important for the
man may take no place in the poetry. And yet, ironically, his poetry is littered with impressions and
experiences that were important to him: the similarities between Emily Hale and the lady in
Portrait of a Lady; the references to his friend Jean Verdenal in The Waste Land; and the later
reference to Margate Sands, where Russell and Eliot s wife went on holiday, all demonstrate the
personal nature of Eliot s verse. Furthermore, Eliot later admitted that he was somewhat obnoxious
in his earlier essays. He writes about Dante s work that we cannot afford to ignore Dante s
philosophical and theological beliefs. Thus, we can infer that the beliefs and the quarrels within
Eliot s poems are beliefs and quarrels that he felt within himself.
In Eliot s first poems, his mind seems to be focused largely on the conflict between a romantic
and a realist view of life, if by romanticism we mean the hope of something better. Influenced by
the anti romantic teachings of Irving Babbitt, a Professor at Harvard, Eliot s secular poems
explore the possibility of a romantic or idealist worldview, which is then denied. The Love Song of
J. Alfred Prufrock is a perfect example, and indeed the you and I of the first line can be interpreted
as the two dimensions of Prufrock s character, the

Immanuel Kant Definition Of Business Ethics
Part A: Introduction
There are several ways to define ethics. Ethic is a set of principles of right and wrong behavior
guiding. Ethical person will behave in accordance with sound moral principles based on fairness,
justice and trust (Wiley, 1995). The purpose of ethic is to provide an environment that allows
people to live a more structured, happy life than would exist without ethics (Warnock, 1971).
Business ethic is examination of variety of problems that can arise from business environment and
how employees, management and corporation deal with them such as fiduciary duty, insider
trading, bribery, discrimination. In other word, ethic of business is about making the right, moral,
ethical business decision. Society has subsequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

female labour and disability labour. Moreover, it violates one formulation of Immanuel Kant s
categorical imperatives that equals should be treated equally . Equal Employment Opportunity

Pros And Cons Of Vacant Homes
Across the United States, vacant homes are sitting useless and have a negative impact on the
housing market. According to census.gov (2018), at the end of 2017, the vacancy rates of homes
were 6.9% for rentals and 1.6% for homeowners. Thousands of homes are sitting empty when they
could be demolished to benefit the housing market or repurposed to benefit someone else. This is a
problem that needs to be solved so that homeowners, the economy, and communities can reap the
benefits. Although vacant homes are a large issue, it is important that the pros and cons of
bulldozing homes are heavily weighed before choosing whether or not demolition is performed.

Renovating would mean that the money being used is not wasted on destroying a home, but put
into something beneficial to society. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (2014), Empty homes can become assets in neighborhood stabilization and
revitalization that can be renovated and reoccupied. After renovation, the homes can be rented or
sold as commercial properties to small business owners to be used as an office or work space.
Furthermore, these businesses would attract people to the communities that they are located in,
which would bring in even more money for the area. The business that purchases the property
would need workers on site as well; therefore more jobs would be brought into the surrounding
community. If the bank or government did not want to spend the time and effort it takes to renovate
and sell properties, there are companies that buy homes that are in need of revitalizing so that
money can be brought into the economy when the home is sold. Furthermore, if the bank could not
financially justify selling or renting the renovated house, the bank could sell the home to a land
bank. Land banks can purchase property for future development; therefore, the banks could sell
vacant homes to these companies in order to ease the

Qrt Floods Essay
The weather of the months leading up to the South East Queensland floods not only gives an
indication of the weather patterns before the flood, but shows the continuity and change in the
weather, which ended up causing this catastrophic natural disaster. The SE QLD floods was the
result of a continuum of a build up of conditions, which can be seen in the synoptic charts.
As seen in the Mid September month, there were many high pressure systems of 1025+

high pressure systems impacted the North east parts of Australia as well, including most of QLD.

rainfall was found, in which QLD experienced wet and generally warm days in the north, and wet
and cool days in the south east. On the 25th of the month, North Queensland was impacted from the
low pressure system condition, bringing heavy rain, for example most of the Cairns region
recorded more than 200mm during the week. With a trough extending from Northern Territory to
QLD also brought strengthened conditions to this area of the country. This trough is the beginning
of an easterly dip, which are good sources of flood conditions. This weather in November

aided the disaster to have an even greater impact.

Baldwin Wallace Case Study
The University of Baldwin Wallace, as I view it as being very close knit liberal arts community
where at times people know each other very well. The probability of someone who is part of the

is the complete uncertainty in knowing who is a member of a Greek organization on campus or the
exact number of the faculty here that are Greek alumni or has ties to a Greek organization.
The uncertainty of not knowing who has ties to Greek life or is a member being stated above

This location may vary and can change at a moment s notice. The method I would use to help notify
the members of my group that the drop was ready for pick up is to post inspirational messages on
post it stamps across campus in various places such as the MACS building, The Union, Kamm
Hall, and Bonds. I would also make sure to signal the member that he or she is looking at the
correct message, by applying a small check mark or X on the message. The goal of these
messages is to look normal to the everyday person, but to the members of my group, they would
see the code and when they enter it to a vigenere cipher to decrypt the regular alphabet message
to get the desired message. The message that the member would receive from breaking the
cipher would be a password to a program pre installed on every USB used, the member would
enter the correct password and would be granted access to the file sharing program that will
allow them to grab an important file or to upload for other users. The main concern with this is
that the Greek life system may crack the encrypted text and try to enter a password. So, the way
that I would counteract this would be to set a time to pick up the information and notify my
group of the time limit, because the program would either lock up after a certain time or it would
if possible would either delete itself from the USB or move the program to a secondary dead drop
location in case if a location is exposed and to also protect the members from being caught. The one
major threat of my method would be the adverse weather conditions that

  • 3. What Does The Vietnam Wall Mean Does fear and reverence have the power to provoke people? In the short story, Once Upon A Time, the author Nadine Gordimer, uses symbolism to convey how fear coupled with apartheid can have devastating themes. On the contrary, in Alberto Rios poem The Vietnam Wall, Rios shows how a little black marble wall has the magic to connect and affect diverse communities. Rios uses imagery in his poem to convey themes of thanksgiving and reverence. Overall, the symbolism and imagery both convey an idea about the individual s roles in society. To begin with, the symbolism in the short story portrays fear and apartheid as the themes. The characters and the setting both play a role in the symbolism. Foremost, the family lived in a house, in a suburb, in a city. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The family lives a comfortable life on the inside. Additionally, Gordimer uses witches associated reputation to indicate that this particular character will be vile in the fairytale aspect. The wise old witch (the husband s mother) serves as the privileged whites who firmly encouraged apartheid. She warned the family not to take anyone off the street. Gordimer connotes anyone to the colored South Africans. She didn t want anyone that was colored to enter their home. Furthermore, the glorified, blood curdling, protective wall embodies segregation. The disturbing walls that were ameliorated in the short story, serves as a figurative force that further divides the whites from the rest of the population (outsiders). Moreover, the little boy and his pets epitomize blissful ignorance. Throughout most of the paranoia the parents participated in and perpetuated, the young boy and his pets were playful, and entirely oblivious of everything. This is illustrated in: The little boy was fascinated by the device and used it as a walkie talkie... as well as the little boy and the pet dog raced gleefully ahead of the husband and the wife as ... • 4. Social Security Trust Vs. Privatization Social Security Trust v. Privatization Debates over Social Security have been ongoing since its inception in 1935 until today. The trend seems to be toward an increasing percentage of the American public, across party and demographic lines, in favor of strengthening Social Security funding, and a willingness to pay more to preserve and even improve benefits. However, the trend towards privatization of Social Security is also on the rise. What is not clear is whether Americans favor privatization because of fears that the Social Security Trust Fund is living on borrowed time. The Social Security Act (SSA) of 1935 was drafted during the Great Depression as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal. The SSA was an attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1965, Congress expanded the system to include Medicare, which provides both hospital and physician coverage to the elderly and disabled. In 2003, Congress added a prescription drug benefit to Medicare (Edwards 431, 540). Since the Social Security Act was signed into law, many politicians have advocated for privatizing Social Security, even though Americans are in favor of Social Security and wish to strengthen the program. The American public strongly supports Social Security, across party and demographic lines. A January 2013, National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) study, Strengthening Social Security: What Do Americans Want?, found that Americans overwhelmingly support Social Security and are willing to pay more to preserve and improve benefits. With more than 59 million or 18% of Americans receiving Social Security benefits, Americans recognize Social Security as a critical program. A large majority of Americans say they do not mind paying Social Security taxes because of the stability and security the benefits provide. These findings hold true across party lines, those polled included 87% of Democrats, 72% of Republicans, and 81% of Independents. 73% of Americans are also willing to pay for Social Security because they value it for themselves and their families. 85% of Americans say Social Security is more important than ever to ensure that the elderly and disabled have dependable income. • 5. The Bombing Of The Twin Towers The bombing of the Twin Towers turned America s focused toward the Middle East. The War on Terrorism began in earnest. This war has brought about more than one conflict. As a nation, the United States is unique. The government is not run by any particular regime or religion, there is freedom. Yet, this is our unique brand of freedom. The Middle Eastis full of peoples with their own way of life that do not necessarily agree with the way we see freedom. Lila Abu Lughod discusses one of the many difference between the United Statesand the Middle East, the use of head coverings and the burqa, in her article Do Muslim Women Really Need Saving? She examines the cultural significance and different types of veiling. Culture permeates every part of life. As Americans, maybe this is harder to see. Yet, everything from the way we talk to what we choose to wear is the result of culture. This makes it vital to understand that many things have a cultural significance. Abu Lughod expresses her dismay over the obsession with the plight of Muslim women being focused on the burqa (209). Many people have adopted the burqa as the symbol of the oppression of Muslim women. Yet, the burqa is simply a form of covering originally specific to the Pashtun people. Each form of covering is part of the Islamic religion. Each holds significance for the community that wears it. The purpose of women wearing a veilof any kind is to assure their protection in the public sphere from the harassment of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, he could not do anything but to give his blessings to his son reluctantly and hoped that he would able to go through th tribulation of life. There is also evidence of archetypes, an easily recognizable role in literature and drama. It is found that one character can have more than one archetype, as long they meet the requirements. However, changing one s place is not the only thing that they need to start their journey, but it requires more thorough changes related to traditions and customs. Based on that, people are divided into two contrary groups, one supports following the customs of the new country while the other encourages people to hold onto their beliefs. Renaissance Art Outline 1.The Renaissance got its start among the northern Italian city sates after a thousand years of medieval brutality and barbarism, [Giorgio] Vasari claimed, Italian artists and thinkers had bravely restored the lost perfection of art and philosophy as known as the ancients (Backman, page 373). The cultural elite of the time was bringing the ideas, moral values, art, and civic mindedness back to life to, what they believed, the two high points of Western culture: Periclean Athens and Republican Rome (Backman, page373). Pier Paolo Vergerio, and early Renaissancewriter on education, insisted that only the study of the classical liberal arts can lift society from the moral and spiritual decay of the medieval era (Backman, page 374).This gave fresh hope and creative energy to Europe(Backman,... In chapter three, the author stated attention can be defined as a concentration of mental activity that allows you to take in a limited portion of the vast stream of information available from both your sensory world and memory (Shomstein, Styles, Weierich Barrett, p.79). In the Stroop Effect I can see that a person need to have a lot of concentration in able to do it the right way. • 15. The Myth Of Albert Einstein With a name synonymous to genius, Albert Einstein is undoubtedly one of the most influential men in modern physics and philosophy of science. Who exactly is Albert Einstein? Born in the German Empire in 1879, Albert Einstein was not thought initially by his peers to be anything special. There is a lot of myth surrounding Einstein s schooling with statements like Einstein failed math or Einstein did bad in school , but these were simply myths and not much more. Einstein did extremely well in school and did amazing in mathematics specifically (having mastered calculus on his own at age 15). The issue was that Einstein had a tendency to skip class and go off on his own doing personal research and discovery. It was in this erratic method of his that caused colleagues and employers to avoid his company and led to the developed opinion that Einstein was not destined for a life of research and discovery. Although Einstein seeked out a position in the sciences, nobody would take him on as an assistant nor a colleague which ultimately led to him becoming a worker at the Swiss patent office. The prospect of Einstein ever entering into the academic stream looked grim. He had derailed his education and reputation. He was disregarded in the scientific community for his poor work ethic and failure to comply with traditional scientific method. However, in 1905 at the age of 26, Einstein went on to publish four papers that changed his academic merit entirely. March saw Einstein s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Case Of William Marbury Deserved The Commission Or Not This case was a case for the ages that challenged the very decision of our newly elected president. The former President Adam after a grueling election has lost and in order to maintain the legacy of the Federalist, he began to appoint justices to the Supreme Court. These judges were appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate, but unfortunately for these justices, the letters that confirmed the appointment never reached the potential justices. Adams was working quickly to push the appointments through, but unfortunately he ran out of time and Jefferson took office. Jefferson saw the appointment letters on his desk and discarded them. One of the potential justices was William Marbury and he sued the president for his Supreme Court appointment. His goal was to have the court to order a writ of mandamus, which if completed, would order a government official to fulfil their official duties. The Chief justice presented three questions that needed to be decided by the court. The first issue addressed was whether William Marbury deserved the commission or not. The court opened the questioned if the law had a remedy for the situation. The final question was whether the writ of mandamus the appropriate legal action in the case. These questions were debated and the court confirmed that Marbury deserved the commission, but they found that the Judiciary Act of 1789 which allowed the court to submit the very writ of mandamus Marbury needed was unconstitutional. The poem, believed to be first written in 1000 CE, though probably around at least 300 years older, is a story of a Geatish hero by the name of Beowulf who travels to the Danes to earn valor and heroism for his name. In the epic there are many examples of what Thomas Hill refers to as peculiar spiritual atmosphere , this is the combination of both pagan and Christian beliefs and values in the epic. While many other early medieval texts are either emphatically and militantly Christian or unapologetically pagan or secular, in their viewpoint Beowulfis neither (Hill 198 199). Every reference in the poem which touches on religion can be understood in these terms except for one lines 179 83 in which the poet apparently condemns Hrothgar and the Danes for idol worship (Hill 202). The epic holds the values of Pagan ancestors and their Christian beliefs to be values that should be upheld in their most important traditions. Even if their ancestors weren t Christian, they still followed their value system. Many of the characters in the epic seem to talk in a monotheistic perspective that the Germanic warriors of the time would not have used. This shows evidence that the epic was recorded by a monk who held strong Christian values. For example, after the warriors finished their sea voyage to the Danes, they praised God for giving them safe journey, while the warriors of the time would have been more likely to praise either Thor or Odin, gods of the religion practiced at the time in that area. For many years school systems have been attempting to perfect special education. They have been developing new techniques and skills to better suit different disabilities that a student might have. The beast fable is a type of fable in which human behavior and weaknesses are subject to scrutiny by reflection into the animal kingdom. The Manciple s Tale within Chaucer s Canterbury Tales depicts the discourse between hierarchical classes in relationship with ideals and societal expectations regarding agency within the class system implying that humans are the monsters because of their heinous actions toward one another. The class system is stratified within the tale through careful depictions of Phoebus, his wife, and the crow they serve to illustrate the inconsistencies that accompany the stagnant medieval social hierarchy, while questioning the implications of violating one s expected norms. Later, in lines 172 and 173 Chaucer again calls the medieval hierarchy into question, For ever this bird will work diligently to escape out of his cage, if he can. Chaucer implies that cage of the immobile class system employed during this time period should be tested, and potentially reformed. Conformity Medicated state Anonymity Mechanical influence of the combine Chief Bromden believes that Nurse Ratched is able to turn on a fog machine that fills the whole ward with fog, obscuring his vision. Because of his schizophrenia, this fog is clearly shown to be a hallucination, but it carries great symbolic meaning. The fog machines in the ward are reminiscent of the Chief s time in the army, where fog machines were used to obscure the airfields. He says that while the fog machines were operating, you couldn t see nothing but white (p 131). The fog symbolises the anonymity that results from conforming to the rules of the ward, and the Chief uses this anonymity to protect himself from the punishments of Nurse Ratched. It also symbolises when he loses grip of reality, either as a result of his medication or out of fear. • 36. Separation Of Government Power The founding founders, of the United States of America, had the foresight to understand that a government s power should not be absolute and unchecked. With this in mind, they wrote the Constitution to account for this. They divided the government into three branches with a different function for each branch. The provisions of this are written in the first three Articles of the Constitution. These Articles established a separation of power by dividing powers between the following three branches: the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch. The goal of dividing powers is to ensure that each branch of government is not more powerful than the other. It also ensures that each branch is accountable to the other branch (The White, n.d.). This is done through checks and balances where a branch can allow or deny the action of another branch. The legislative Branch is covered under Article I. The Executive Branch is covered by Article II. Article III covers the Legislative Powers. The Legislative Branch is established by Article I. Its function is to enact legislation. This is evidenced in many points in the book, like one where Billy looked down the street, saw a new Buick... He closed his eyes, and opened them again. He was still weeping, but he was back in Luxembourg again. (Vonnegut 63). This passage, talking about Billy traveling back in time to World War II, refers to the lack of meaning of time in the book. The book also debunks the Modernist idea that all problems can be solved with new inventions. Responding to Billy s question about how the Universe ends, the Tralfamadorians reply We blow it up, experimenting with new fuels for our flying saucers. (117 ). This is a direct blow to Modernism, stating how new inventions are not for the best or necessarily useful. The time at which we are at school is thought to be one of the most critical times of our lives. It is a period in our life in which we start discovering ourselves and our sexualities.School is an institution that is thought to provide enrichment in all aspects, not just academic stimulation but also emotional maturity and psychological development.Sexuality education therefore has become a fundamental aspect of one s learning as it not only enables us to formulate ideas regarding sexual identity and gender but also allows us acknowledge ourselves as sexual beings. It can be argued that sexuality is not the property of the individual and is not a hormonally or biologically given quality (Epstein,O Flynn and Telford, 2003) but rather it is a socially constructed paradigm or notion that permeates almost all aspects of not just schooling but our society, both formally and informally. This notion of sexuality is ever changing and it is made dynamic by particular events in history that change our perspectives and priorities.By using my personal experience of sexuality education at Avondale College and St.Dominic s College,I aim to demonstrate the ever increasing importance of comprehensive sexuality education in New Zealand and show how the current curriculum very successfully promotes heteronormativity but often fails to wholeheartedly acknowledge desire, homosexualtity and teenage pregnancy. This failure to acknowlege key aspects of sexuality in schools has numerous consequences ... Utilising a wide range of sources critically evaluate and discuss the following statement: Dangerousness is said to be socially constructed. Dangerousness is a term that is used in various settings such as legal, academic, administrative and popular discourse (Bennett, n.d:3.). The meaning of the term can vary throughout the different settings (ibid). In criminology the term often corresponds with acts of violence, and is used to label an offenders potential level of risk of harm they may cause (Farrington and Tarling, 1985:175). Someone who is labelled as dangerous is thought to pose as a threat or risk to society. However, dangerousness is not easily defined; it can actually cover a range of factors; which makes it more of an umbrella term. For example, three distinct constructs such as risk factors, potential harm, and risk level are used to determine dangerousness (Greene and Wrightsman, 2007:263). Nevertheless, even though the term lacks a clear and concise definition, it is used on a daily basis to make very important decisions regarding offenders who have been previously convicted of a specified offence such as, a violent offence, or a sexual offence (Legislation.gov.uk, 2003). Society is becoming increasingly obsessed with danger or risks to health and safety, and anxiety and fear are becoming a more dominated feature in everyday life (Furedi, 2007:198). Yeats famously said that poetry was born from a quarrel with ourselves, and Faulkner later added in his Nobel Prize Speech that good writing comes only from the problems of the human heart in conflict with itself. These insights are no more apt than when applied to the poetry of T.S. Eliot. Exploding onto the poetic scene in 1915, Eliot and his friend Ezra Pound were at the forefront of the modernist movement. They reacted strongly against the traditional techniques of the Georgians and others who came before them, who seemed to the modernists to be attempting to represent the modern world in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his essay Tradition and the Individual Talent (1919) Eliot controversially argues that The emotion of art is impersonal, and claims: Impressions and experiences which are important for the man may take no place in the poetry. And yet, ironically, his poetry is littered with impressions and experiences that were important to him: the similarities between Emily Hale and the lady in Portrait of a Lady; the references to his friend Jean Verdenal in The Waste Land; and the later reference to Margate Sands, where Russell and Eliot s wife went on holiday, all demonstrate the personal nature of Eliot s verse. Furthermore, Eliot later admitted that he was somewhat obnoxious in his earlier essays. He writes about Dante s work that we cannot afford to ignore Dante s philosophical and theological beliefs. Thus, we can infer that the beliefs and the quarrels within Eliot s poems are beliefs and quarrels that he felt within himself. In Eliot s first poems, his mind seems to be focused largely on the conflict between a romantic and a realist view of life, if by romanticism we mean the hope of something better. Influenced by the anti romantic teachings of Irving Babbitt, a Professor at Harvard, Eliot s secular poems explore the possibility of a romantic or idealist worldview, which is then denied. After renovation, the homes can be rented or sold as commercial properties to small business owners to be used as an office or work space. Furthermore, these businesses would attract people to the communities that they are located in, which would bring in even more money for the area. The business that purchases the property would need workers on site as well; therefore more jobs would be brought into the surrounding community. If the bank or government did not want to spend the time and effort it takes to renovate and sell properties, there are companies that buy homes that are in need of revitalizing so that money can be brought into the economy when the home is sold. Furthermore, if the bank could not financially justify selling or renting the renovated house, the bank could sell the home to a land bank. Land banks can purchase property for future development; therefore, the banks could sell vacant homes to these companies in order to ease the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Qrt Floods Essay The weather of the months leading up to the South East Queensland floods not only gives an indication of the weather patterns before the flood, but shows the continuity and change in the weather, which ended up causing this catastrophic natural disaster. The SE QLD floods was the result of a continuum of a build up of conditions, which can be seen in the synoptic charts. As seen in the Mid September month, there were many high pressure systems of 1025+ hectopascals affecting australia, in particular the south west areas of the country. The ridges of the high pressure systems impacted the North east parts of Australia as well, including most of QLD. This caused clear skies, and dry weather seen in most of QLD, with some areas having their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the dominant cold front impacting the south and south east area of the state, more prominent rainfall was found, in which QLD experienced wet and generally warm days in the north, and wet and cool days in the south east. On the 25th of the month, North Queensland was impacted from the low pressure system condition, bringing heavy rain, for example most of the Cairns region recorded more than 200mm during the week. With a trough extending from Northern Territory to QLD also brought strengthened conditions to this area of the country. This trough is the beginning of an easterly dip, which are good sources of flood conditions. This weather in November impacted this area of QLD greatly, meaning as the disaster unfolded, the conditions of SE QLD aided the disaster to have an even greater impact. http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/current/month/qld/archive/201110.summary.shtml The November month was the month leading up to the SE Qld floods. From the synoptic charts, the conditions evident show the ultimate lead up in conditions for the natural disaster. The pressure systems have moved southerly, in which QLD is not being significantly impacted by many pressure systems. A High pressure system in the East of Australia of 1023 hectopascals is lightly impacting the state, bringing warmer temperatures, in which 76% of the state experience ... • 55. Baldwin Wallace Case Study The University of Baldwin Wallace, as I view it as being very close knit liberal arts community where at times people know each other very well. The probability of someone who is part of the Greek life system or knows a friend that is a member is probably high. The difficulty I see in this is the complete uncertainty in knowing who is a member of a Greek organization on campus or the exact number of the faculty here that are Greek alumni or has ties to a Greek organization. The uncertainty of not knowing who has ties to Greek life or is a member being stated above brings me to my next major concern and challenge. How do I ensure that each member of my group and including myself remains anonymous, and how do I create a very secure and effective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This location may vary and can change at a moment s notice. The method I would use to help notify the members of my group that the drop was ready for pick up is to post inspirational messages on post it stamps across campus in various places such as the MACS building, The Union, Kamm Hall, and Bonds. I would also make sure to signal the member that he or she is looking at the correct message, by applying a small check mark or X on the message. The goal of these messages is to look normal to the everyday person, but to the members of my group, they would see the code and when they enter it to a vigenere cipher to decrypt the regular alphabet message to get the desired message. The message that the member would receive from breaking the cipher would be a password to a program pre installed on every USB used, the member would enter the correct password and would be granted access to the file sharing program that will allow them to grab an important file or to upload for other users. The main concern with this is that the Greek life system may crack the encrypted text and try to enter a password. So, the way that I would counteract this would be to set a time to pick up the information and notify my group of the time limit, because the program would either lock up after a certain time or it would if possible would either delete itself from the USB or move the program to a secondary dead drop location in case if a location is exposed and to also protect the members from being caught. The one major threat of my method would be the adverse weather conditions that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
