Technology and Attack Trees Essay example
The modern technology in the world is growing day by day. So to enable faster and simpler
networking, the countries are developing and expanding their technology. Currently there are
billions of Internet user and mobile phone connections all over the world. People all around the
world are very much depended on consistent access of these channels. Popularity for Internet based
networking is growing exponentially, but it come at a cost. The cost is the cyber attackand crimes
are increasing rapidly around the world. The attacks like email staking, hacking computers, virus

be the valuable asset. The branches of the tree will represent different method for achieving the
goal, like in case of household security, branches will be breaking the window of house and
creating the duplicate key. With this branching representation different ways to attack the value

helps to determine the weak point in the system. The attack trees model can help expert to set

Geology of Yellowstone Essay
Introduction
It is believed that Native Americans inhabited the lands of what is now Yellowstone National
Park for more than 11,000 years, until approximately 200 years ago, when European settlers
began to drive many of them from their homelands. In 1872 Yellowstone was declared the world s
first national park as a way to preserve and protect the land for the benefit and enjoyment of future
generations. (National Park Service) Yellowstone National Park covers a vast area in the
Northwestern United States. Its landscape is very complex and ever changing thanks to the many
geological forces that are found there. In fact, the unique geological features such as the geysers,
hot springs, steam vents, among many others, are what lead to ... Show more content on

The third eruption happened about 640,000 years ago, and spewed 240 cubic miles of material.
This third eruption created the third and largest of Yellowstone s calderas, Yellowstone Caldera
,
which is 30 by 45 miles in size. The pyroclastic lava flows from this eruption formed the north
wall of the caldera and are visible from the south facing cliffs east of Madison. (Solcomhouse)
This third eruption is said to have vaporized an entire mountain range. Smaller eruptions have also
helped to shape Today s Yellowstone, such as one that occurred 174,000 years ago and created
what is now the West Thumb of Yellowstone Lake. (National Park Service) Many sources say that a
catastrophic eruption, such as those that have formed the three calderas at Yellowstone, is unlikely
during the next several hundred years, but if one such eruption did occur it would devastate much
of the United States and would have the potential to alter the global climate.
Lava flows of rhyolite and basalt have flowed through parts of Yellowstone as recently as 70,000
years ago. These lava flows destroyed everything in their paths while moving slowly at a rate of
a few hundred feet per day, flowing months, or sometimes even several years. They are thick and
cover as much as 130 square miles. They have nearly filled the Yellowstone Caldera, and spilled
beyond the caldera s border. These lava flows are responsible for forming four of the nine named
plateaus in

Reaction Paper On Hydrazones
2.1. Hydrazones:
Hydrazones are a special class of organic compound in the Schiff base family. They are
characterized by the prescence of azomethine ( C=N N=C 15 min). The hydrazones obtained are
tested for their DNA cleavage properties and some of them are found to show good chemical
nuclease activity in the presence of both oxidizing agent (H2O2) and reducing agent (MPA). Some
of them exhibited hydrolytic activity and their antioxidant activity was found to be very low.
2.5. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Though aryl hydrazones of aryl aldehydes, known as Schiff bases, are well known, the study of
any hydrazones (28) of 2 chlororquinoline 3 carbaldehydes (26) is scanty. Srivastava et al, have
synthesized the phenyl hydrazone 28a in 50% yield, by refluxing a ... Show more content on

The Positive Relationship Between Inflation And Inflation
Some variables in Economics are very closely related to each other. In many cases, the
combination of these variables can have an unexpected effect on the economy. One of these
examples can be observed when we compare inflation and unemployment rate. To establish this
comparison in a short run period of time, it will be beneficial to use the Phillip Curve. This curve
can be used as a tool to represent the positive relationship between inflationand unemployment in
the short run. In order to comprehend the positive relationship between inflation and unemployment
first, we must know what inflation is, how we define unemployment, and how we can use the
Phillip Curve to make a functional comparison of these two variables. Moreover, it will be very
beneficial to analyze how expansionary fiscal policies affect the relationship between
unemployment and inflation. If we understand the meaning of each of these variables in the
economy, it will be easier to comprehend the logic of a short run trade off between unemployment
and inflation.
Inflation can be described as the sustained increase in the level price of goods and services over a
period of time. Inflation can affect the economy in positive and negative ways. One of the negative
ways in which inflation affects the economy is that it increases the opportunity cost of holding
money, in other words, it decreases the real value of money. Inflation is said to occur when there is
an excessive increase in the money supply. Among

The Declaration Of Rights And Grievances
By 1765, at a Stamp Act Congress, all but four colonies were represented as the Declaration of
Rights and Grievances was passed. They were determined to let Parliament know that they were
equal to British citizens, that there would be no taxation without representation, and all efforts to
stop tax on colonists would continue (Kennedy, etal 2011.) Although Lord Rockingham, the
predecessor of Grenville, sought to repeal of the Stamp Act, this in no way meant Parliament was
conceding their control. In fact, while the Stamp Act was repealed, another called the Declaratory
Act of 1766, gave Parliament the authority to make laws binding the American Colonies, in all
cases whatsoever. In 1767, George III passed the Townshend Acts to collect tax on glass, lead,
paints, paper and, tea. Recognizing that tea was a favorite among the Americans, it ensured greater
revenue the British government. Again, the colonists rights for representation were ignored and
they started to boycott British goods and ultimately, smuggle tea. When the Quartering Act was
passed, which specified that colonists were to give room and board to British troops, tension began
to rise. For two years, the colonists tolerated British troops on their soil and their dissatisfaction
with the British Parliament and King George III became evident through many violent riots,
abusiveness of tax collectors and destruction of property. According to Kennedy, etal (2011),
Parliament, continually met with

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy
What are Trigger Points?
Commonly referred to as myofascial trigger points in the medical profession, these locations on
your body are a common cause of discomfort and pain. These areas commonly produce referred
pain, meaning that pain from this area can be found in other muscle groups and joints away from
the source of the pain itself. This is why myofascial discomfort in one s spine or shoulder often
causes headaches and neck pain.
What Causes This Pain?
This intense pain can come from a variety of sources, including bad posture, excess weight,
physical injury or stress, joint problems, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and even poor sleep.
If you are suffering from joint pain or spinal pain, you may have visited a medical professional and
been told that it was a result of a weak or injured joint, or even a bulging or misaligned disc.
However, the pain quite possibly could have resulted from a trigger point issue. ... Show more

Office professionals often develop severe pain from sitting in the same position all day long and
by using their keyboard and mouse in the same manner day in and day out for years. Additionally,
video game users frequently report pain from their steady use of their hands and fingers in an
unnatural way. Assembly line workers, construction workers, and even gardeners can suffer from
similar pain as a result of repetitive motion. This sort of pain is also found fairly regularly in new
mothers, who suffer hip pain as a result of carrying their newborn around with them.
Another common culprit of this type of pain is poor posture due to infrequent exercise and strength
training. Additionally, those that suffer from consistent stress often face pain as well. Constant
muscle clenching and physical tension can take a toll on the body, leading to muscle imbalances
and chronic pain.

Sanity And Insanity In Shakespeare s King Lear
Determining the sanity and insanity of an individual can be extremely hard, especially when you
do not know much about the person. In Shakespeare s King Lear there are many character who
seem like they are going mad, and an example of such a character is King Lear. King Lear
succumbs to anger, rash decisions, and grief driving him to insanity, thus leading to the destruction
of the kingdom. King Learis a character who displays a great deal of anger throughout the course
of the play, he often allows his anger to take over him. A lot of things that are said and during the
course of the play are due to Lears anger which is a leading factor for his insanity. Lear loses his
temper during a lovetest when his daughter does not give the answer that he was looking for, he
disowns her calling Cordelia his, sometime daughter, (1.1.119) and gives her share of the land to
her sisters. This in turn leads to his insanity because in his blind rage he does not acknowledge
the sincerity behind Cordelia s veiled words; unlike her sisters she does not try to flatter her
father in order to receive more land, whereas her sisters have their secrets agendas and do not
truly love Lear. In addition to this, King Lear is also enraged when the Earl of Kent who is a
loyal follower of Lear, goes against the banishment of Cordelia and speaks up in favour of the
youngest daughter. Lear is livid with Kent going against him and banishes Kent, as well reminding
him that, if on the tenth day

The WDC at Springfield had a total area of 1.1 million square feet and was divided into six
modules (see Exhibit 1). Breakpack items were stored in Module 1, while full case items were
stored in Module 3. The other modules were used for sorting and the staging area. On average,
Springfield had an inventory worth $46 million, which corresponded to about a one month
demand from stores in the region. op yo Margolis was hired as the general manager at the
Springfield WDC in January of the previous year. A portion of his bonus was based on a
quarterly survey of store managers taken by ELS management. The last survey prior to
Margolis s arrival indicated that store managers were very dissatisfied with the performance of
the Springfield WDC. Springfield was a poor performer and ranked last within the ELS network.
Customers (retail store managers) complained that orders were late and not delivered in the
right quantity. No tC Upon arriving, Margolis focused his attention on service quality at the
WDC. Margolis quickly realized that no performance data was available within the Springfield
WDC. In fact, none of the processes were well defined. He had to put an entire quality program in
place and appointed Robin Stalk as quality manager. Stalk had spent considerable time at
Springfield and was knowledgeable about the processes and problems. As a first step, Stalk and
Margolis identified receiving, inventory storage, order filling, and shipping as

hard type A personality or anything and really enjoy hearing what others have to think and say
about whats going on and how to best do something. In general, This type of leadership helps to
bring more of a team spirit, and boosts the morale among the workers; probably because it gives
each person an equal chance to voice his or her option about any decision made. This type of
leadership is good for the peer clinical setting that we are working in, as it promotes good working

The Grand Canyon National Park
Grand Canyon National Park
Army Lieutenant Joseph Christmas Ives was the first American to ever lay eyes on the Grand
Canyon. He deemed it altogether valueless , and he believed that ours has been the first and will
undoubtedly be the last, party of whites to visit the locality. It seems intended by nature that the
Colorado River along the greater portion of its lonely and majestic way, shall be forever unvisited
and disturbed (Powell, 3 4). Looking out at the vast beauty of the Grand Canyon, he was sure that
it would never have any importance, and nobody would want to see it. Today, Grand Canyon
National Park is one of the greatest and most well known natural landmarks in all of the United
States.
The Grand Canyon is considered one of the 7 Wonders of the Natural World. Within its cracks and
bends, the Grand Canyon tells a story of the Native American people, and the roots and history of
our nation. The Grand Canyon is essentially surrounded by various Native American tribes and
reservations, including the Navajo Nation Reservation. The Navajo Nation Reservation, spans
27,000 square miles and spreads across three states: Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. Within its
borders lies monuments, national parks, and of course, Navajo people living traditional lifestyles.

where they don t have electricity and they live closely kindred lives with nature.

who can arrange to have time off offer them an unpaid summer vacation for those that want it.

essential part of every techniques. If we don t breath correctly then we lose the benefits of

Allusions In To His Coy Mistress
Upon first glance, Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress presents a simple seduction, as the
speaker uses the passage of time in a straightforward attempt to get his mistress to sleep with
him. Using the threat of inevitable death as a way of urging his mistress to seize the day and
have sex with him, the speaker makes time appear all powerful and controlling for much of the
poem. Marvell explores the theme of time differently in An Horatian Ode Upon Cromwell s Return
from Ireland, as the speaker of this poem describes Cromwell s overthrow of the ancient order by
suggesting that he overthrows the rules and workings of time itself. This interpretation of time as
an entity that can be manipulated influences the portrayal of time in To His... Show more content on

The poem starts out acknowledging the inevitability of death as the speaker tells his mistress,
Your quaint honor turn to dust, / and into ashes all my lust, (29 30). The dry imagery implied in
words such as dust and ashes show that all the heat and passion the speaker and his mistress
currently feel are finite because of time s power. However, as the poem progresses, the speaker
realizes that, despite the ever present threat of eventual death, there is a way to overturn time.
He says, Tear our pleasures with rough strife / through the iron gates of life. / Thus, though we
cannot make our sun / stand still, yet we will make him run, (43 46). The violent diction, evident
through words such as tear and rough strife, suggests that the speaker and his mistress, by having
sex, can break through the iron gates of life with force. Marvell uses hard r and f sounds in his
description to emphasize this idea of breaking through. They would be able to break free from
under time s control, thus making the sun run from them rather than running from time. Making
the sun, or time, stand still is not possible, but by having sex, the speaker and his mistress use a
physical act to escape the power of time by reshaping the mould of their society s

The Use Of Surveillance As A Mechanism Of Control
The use of Surveillance as a Mechanism of Control Elen1003 Project 2; Topic No. 2; Tutor:
Deneo Mfenyana 1036603 James Phillips Surveillance is an extremely effective mechanism to
control a large group of people or society in our modern world. This method of control can prove
to have a strong effect on a person s sense of privacy and can induce a strong sense of fear and
anxiety. There are various methods from which government agents can monitor a group of
people. In the novel, 1984 by George Orwell, these methods and theories are depicted very well.
These methods include, the use of Telescreens (similar to CCTV), spying organizations
including undercover police, and a psychological mechanism of anxiety, called the Panopticon
Effect . George Orwell s 1984, is not a prediction of how he thought that we would live in 1984,
but is a warning of what can happen, if we allow a dictatorship or totalitarian state to take control
In general, citizens of a country may be prone to accept certain methods of control, provided that
their country is able to justify valid reasons for it. This has been implemented in the past, for
example, during the Great Depression, the citizens of America had to accept methods such as
rationing, as it was the only way to be able to access basic needs in times of no money and jobs

The Meditations of Rene Descartes Essay
The Meditations of Rene Descartes
In 1916 Rene Descartes wrote What I wish to finish is . . . an absolutely new science enabling one
to resolve all questions proposed on any order of continuos or discontinuous quantities. (p8 Methods
Meditations). He made this ambitious statement at the young age of twenty three. Rene s ambition
would take him far but it kept him from becoming the Aristotle of the modern age. The Meditations
were an attempt to solve the many questions about life, existence, and God. At the time of their
publishing many philosophers did not quit accept his writings. Today however the Meditations are
widely read and reviewed throughout the world. In the First Meditation Rene begins by stating that

He would continue and urge us not to trust what we see because there is no way of being certain
about anything. Methodological doubt was his basis on life claiming that everything is to be
doubted. Rene Descartes first begins to come to some kind of belief by the Third Meditation.
Rene states . . . I am certain that I am a thinking being; but do I not therefore likewise know what
is required to make me certain of something? (p113 Methods Meditations). He goes on to say that
God could not possibly be deceitful, it would not be his divine nature. This is when things start
to come together for Rene. After acknowledging that a divine God could not possibly be evil
Rene goes even further to say that he (God) must exist. This equation sounds strange but to this
point Rene never really considered if God even existed or if he was simply a part of his
imagination. Rene s motto, De omnibus dubitandumest (everything is to be doubted), lead him
back to basic proofs. His theory of analytical geometry was the first major contribution to the
field of science. This theory helped to offset some of his doubts and in many ways gave him the
realization that some qualities in life can be proven. For Descartes rule of everything to be
doubted was only part of his philosophical life. While taking this rule very serious he did not
recommend it as a way of life. Descartes was only interested in the study of wisdom. He knew that
the wisdom learned would be a sort of

P 51 Mustang: A Fighter and an Escort changes the course of World War II
Long before the B 17 came to be and, in fact, long before the United States would enter the Second
World War, the Army Air Corps put out a request for bomber prototypes. Three companies answered
the call with Boeing Airplane Company being one them. Originally labeled the Model 299,
Boeing raised eyebrows in excitement by flying their offering 2,000 miles nonstop at an average
speed of 252 mph from the plant in Seattle, WA to Wright Field, OH. As stated in the book Boeing

Eight Chemical Reactions
There are many reaction types that can occur when compounds come together to form different
types of products. In chemistry, there are eight different basic types of reactions. The eight basic
reactions include: combustion, synthesis, decomposition, precipitation, single replacement, double
replacement, acid/base, and redox reactions. These reactions are categorized into their reaction
type by their differences and similarities. The first type of reaction is combustion. A combustion
reaction is when a substance is combined with oxygen and releases heat and light energy. An
example of a combustion reaction is the combustion of hydrogen. When a balloon with oxygen and
hydrogen is supplied with heat by a candle, it triggers an explosive... Show more content on

Another known name for this type of reaction is a displacement reaction. These type of solutions
mostly occur in liquid solution and the amount of energy used in this type of reaction is smaller
than that of a synthesis or decomposition reaction. In this type of reaction, in a compound, an
element replaces a similar element. For example we have elements A, B, and X. In this equation
we heave element A + compound BX. Element A will replace element B to form B + AX. (A +
BX B + AX) Another reaction is a double replacement. This reaction usually produces an
insoluble gas or water. Double replacement is when in two compounds, ions will exchange
places in a liquid solution (aqueous solution) to form a new compound. For example A, B, X,
and Y are ions in the first part of the equation, AX + BY. The ions X and Y will replace each
other to form a new compound to form AY + BX. ( AX + BY AY + BY) A different type of
reaction would be an acid/base reaction. This reaction is a neutralization. An acid is a substances
that looses protons which are H+ ions and a base is a substance that receives protons. When equal
amounts of protons are lost by an acid and the same amounts of protons are being received by a
base, they neutralize each other. That creates a product that is neither acidic nor basic by the two
substances (acid and a

Political Change In Texas
Texas has been a predominantly republican state since the late 1900s. In this past presidential
election there was a time when the polls foreshadowed that Texas would go democratic. Many
people in Texas have been initiating a Turn Texas Blue movement for this election. This means
that the people of Texas want Texas to vote democratic. This was passed around all over social
media such as twitter and Facebook. The last time a democratic presidential candidate was voted
in by Texas was in 1976, and 20 years have passed since Texans voted in a democrat to a major
state office. Very close to election day however, Hilary Clinton was ahead in the polls. I heard
several people actually worried that Texas would turn blue. Donald Trump, the republican
candidate, did pull out the win in Texas in the end though. I most definitely believe that Texas is
on the verge of turning blue in the near future. Donald Trump is registered as a republican, but
some of his values and plans seem a bit democratic, or even liberal. This will not go over very well
with some of the more republican and conservative people of Texas. Texas is a state of tradition
and very much of the make up of Texas currently is conservative.... Show more content on

Antisocial Personality Disorder ( Walsh Wu
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Imagine this, Jerry Smith, is considered to be the bad kid in high school with an extensive
juvenile record. He steals from other students and lies about it. He is irritable and picks fights
daily. Jerry gets bad grades, and it appears that he does not care. As an adult, he is a con artist and
cannot seem to hold a decent job due to his impulsivity. Jerry thinks that life is not fair. According
to the research, individuals who possess these antisocial behaviors during childhood commit most
crimes in adulthood (Walsh Wu, 2008). Therefore, understanding personality traits that may lead to
criminal behavior is of great interest. It appears that individuals who possess these personality traits
function, as criminals in our society, of these, the antisocial personality, or the related term
psychopath or sociopath, is one specific psychological syndrome.
Development of Psychopath/sociopath Terminology
Outside of a psychological perspective, the term antisocial personality is not recognized (Walsh Wu,
2008). The most common term to describe these behaviors is known as psychopath. Despite the
similarities between the two terms, research suggests that they are distinct constructs from an
empirical point of view. Most cases of psychopathy are diagnosed within prison or other forensic
settings and will meet the DSM 5 criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD), whereas only
15 25% of the cases of APD will meet criteria

Jacob Riis Social Reform Movement
As photography was being used more and more as a method of documentation, they were among the
first to use it to push social reform efforts. They closely documented the devastating effects of
industrialization and urbanization on the working class American. Through their work they brought
attention to the need for housing and (child) labor laws. They used their medium to bring real proof
to the public and legislators, where it needed to be seen. Actually, instead of documentary
photography, it may best be called social reform photography, as they both worked tirelessly and
used the medium to force attention and to effect social change.
Riis used photography to illustrate his social reform documentary writing, he was not originally a

Purpose Of A Qualitative Purpose
A purpose statement is one, or a number of sentences providing a summary of the principle
objective of a piece of research (Creswell, p.123, 2014). The role it plays is crucial in every study
regardless of an approach being quantitative, qualitative, or mixed method. It stands as the most
important statement in and entire piece of work, therefore it must be clear, specific, and
informative (Creswell, p 123, 2014). Without it, comprehension amongst audiences is challenging.
The aim of this essay is to describe the elements required to produce a qualitative purpose

The Philosophy Of Environmentalism In Ecotopia, By Ernest...
Ecotopia, by Ernest Callenbach, is a 181 page fictional novel centered around the philosophy of
environmentalism. Published in 1975, the piece was conceived during a period of intense political
action. In America, the seventies was a decade characterized by a significant push toward
progressivism in terms of women s rights, anti war movements, and in creating contemporary
beliefs about environmental issues. Ecotopiadraws upon this time frame in an almost self aware
manner, giving it the ability to translate into the 21st century quite appropriately. This awareness
allows it to establish the tone of not only an inspirational novel, but a social commentary as well.
The story begins with Times Post journalist William Weston receiving an... Show more content on

The story is broken down into two distinct areas: Weston s news articles, and his personal diary
entries. It is through these entries that we follow his true, internalized views about his trip. In spite
of his initial skepticism, he continuously changes his opinion to reflect a newly found adulation
toward both the people, and the country of Ecotopia. This culminates with his relationship to
Marissa, a native woman to the region. While developing rapport with various Ecotopians, he
becomes hypnotized by the country s aura. This sudden attitude change would ultimately cause him
to stay in Ecotopia permanently to serve as its voice to the rest of the world.
There are many ideas and concepts that can be taken away from this novel. A theme that is central
to the storyline is the need for humanity to reconnect with nature. Most of the current forecasts on
environmental degradation have one growing concern: human development must not surpass the
finite biological limits that are placed on our terrestrial ecosystems. It is seen in Ecotopia that
through this reconnection, society is simply better off in terms of not only improvements to
environmental quality, but to overall quality of life as well. The novel can be seen as a call for
humanity to move toward the steady state exemplified in Ecotopia. Callenbach wrote not only to
inspire people, but to lay down the

Developing an Intervention
The intervention I selected was Chart Moves. The way that I implemented this particular
intervention with the student is by writing his name on the poster in which I supplied. Every time
the student performed the desired behavior, which was reading fluently within two minutes and
answering post questions he would move up half a notch. With the chart, Ja Von would have the
opportunity to earn different reinforcement such as things that he was interested in or things that
he liked. I became aware of the things that he was interested in during the observation phase and
before I introduced him to the intervention, I asked him to make a list of the 10 things that he
enjoyed doing or things that he liked in general. The list included but were not limited too
cookies, candy and action figures. This gave me the opportunity to use the reinforcers as ways to
increase the desired behavior and decrease the inappropriate one. After the intervention was
introduced, it was explained to the student how it would work. Moreover, the way the system was

Anselm and the proof for the existence of God
Introduction In the middle ages there were many ideas of the existence of God but there was one
common thing that everyone knew, God existed. Although everyone agreed that God existed,
philosophers such Anselm tried to prove God s existence anyway. In the passage Prosolgium,
Anselm is trying to prove the existenceof God to Ganilo by giving two approaches. The goal of the
dialog is to prove that the combination accepting that God exists and not believing that God exists
is not possible. The conclusion of Anselm s proofs are that God exists. In order to understand
where Anselm is coming from we have to have some background information. Anselm is speaking
to Ganilo about the fool, in other words the atheists, that understands two important aspects of God.
The first is that he accepts that claim that God exists and the second is that he does not believe in
the existence of God. The next big piece of Anselm s proofs is his definition of God which is that
than which nothing greater can be thought . The definition is stating that it is not possible for
something greater then God to be thought. Knowing these two very important aspects of
information we can dive into the argument itself. Proofs for the Existence of God As mentioned
before, Anselm comes with two proofs for the existence of God and we will start with the first
proof. The first proof begins with Anselm s definition of God which is that than which nothing
great can be thought. The definition is saying that God

Paid family and medical leave is defined as period of time in which an employee can take time
off to take care of personal needs and still receive partial wages. Thus far, paid family and
medical leave is provided independently in five states: California, New York, New Jersey,
Hawaii, and Rhode Island. It is funded differently in every state, but in most cases, money for
paid leave comes from a small payroll tax or payroll deductions. In California and Rhode Island,
paid family and medical leave is completely employee paid, while in New Jersey, it is a shared
responsibility between employers and employees (Boushey). Currently, the only national
legislation that addresses family and medical leave is the Family and Medical Leave Act
(FMLA) enacted in 1993. The FMLA provides only up to twelve weeks of job protection and

populations, and led to hostility between the two group becoming more intense. In 1921 the first
major riots in Palestine against the Jewish population erupted, the Jaffa riots. The escalation of
tensions between the two groups led to the 1929 Palestine riots. In these riots Jews were
massacred in Hebron, and devastation took place in Jerusalem and Safed. Finally, there was the
1936 39 Arab revolt in Palestine. During the revolt, Palestinian Arabs rioted and murdered Jews.
The revolt was instigated by the Supreme Muslim Council in 1936. The outbreaks of violence
were responded to by the British with several reports, inquiries, and commissions. The Haycraft
Commission of Inquiry in 1921, the Shaw Report in 1930, the Peel Commission of 1936 37, the
Woodhead Commission of 1938, and the White Paper of 1939. A two state solution was proposed
as an end to the conflict in the Peel Commission, and was the first to do so. The proposed solution
was to separate Palestine into two states, one Jewish state and one Arab

Benefits Of Privatizing Social Security
Having enough money after one retires for a house on the beach, or the ability to travel, or any
other type of luxury, is a goal that many Americans have. Today Americans that are employed
have to pay a certain tax known as the Social Security tax. Social Security has become the largest
single government program in the world, accounting for 24% ($888 billion) of total US federal
spending in 2015. ( Privatizing Social SecurityProCon.org. ). With the largest amount of tax that
Americans have to pay, the nation can distribute the money it takes in out to those who are retired,
disabled, unemployed, and recently included, to Medicare. Back when this program was signed by
Franklin D. Roosevelt on Aug. 14, 1935, the program provided a social... Show more content on

By reading the arguments the main issue is determining whether or not Social Security should be
privatized or not. With roots of our nation lying in free will and the ability to form our own future,
privatizing Social Security sounds like a way to live up to that precedent. The question now is
what comes with privatizing Social Security? A few benefits seen can range from boosting money
coming into the economy, which will help the national debt, it will help the poor and the minorities,
and the ability to inherit accounts will be possible. With the long term privatization As stated by
President George W. Bush, Personal accounts, which could be passed along to the next generation,
would go a long way toward reducing that disparity. ( Privatizing Social Security ProCon.org. )
Basically what this means, is say someone is able to open up a private account and begin monthly
putting money into that account, and by the time they reach retirement age or even right before
retirement age they pass away, then the money that has been saved up is no longer required to
support them. With Social Security the money that would be supporting them is no longer needed
and will end up going to someone else or to benefit the government. With a private account you can
build up money that can be passed down through family with the necessary guidelines to effectively
make sure that the elders in the family are compensated for financially. If this went and became
something that the majority of the nation took apart of, then one could hopefully say that overtime
there would be less homeless people roaming the streets, and more would be secure through their
private family

Goodnight Mr Tom Identity
Goodnight Mister Tom (1981), is a novel by Michelle Magorian. It follows the story of a boy
named Willie, who is evacuated from London to his new home of Little Weirworld. He lives with
a misanthropic old man named Thoman Oakely, here Mr. Tom takes in the role of a supporting
father figure and helps him grow and develop from the state his abusive mother left him in. Within
the text, Magorian presents the key idea that changes in a person s identity, positive or negative,
are complex, fluid and crucial to their very character. This is explored further with the ideas such
as; conflict shapes a person s identity; that all identity change a occur for a reason; and that a
person s surroundings can bring change about in their identity. Magorian conveys... Show more

During the book, characters such as Mister Tom change dramatically, we are shown through
their speech and actions that they change in order to fulfil a purpose. At the beginning of the
story, Mister Tom, a misanthropic old man, has a shy young boy, Will, put under his care.
Placed in a new and alien situation, he has to reciprocate, as he develops compassion and learns
to care for Will as well as taking on new roles and becoming more open. Magorian uses
characterisation to display to the reader Tom s progression, with points that are taken from
different stages of the book such as Eat up, I ain t got all day. , and I love you too, boy, he
(Mister Tom) grunted. , this shows immense change which allows him to care for his emotional
needs. This is as his diction and tone have changed from harsh, rude and demanding, to caring
and loving. That clearly shows that his identity has changed in order to care for Willie. Very
early on we are shown he doesn t accept the inevitability of war and refuses to buy a gas mask,
however, soon after Willie arrives he purchases two gas masks in order to protect the boy, his
actions and morals being clearly shaped from very anti war to cautious in order to provide for
Willie. He later even volunteers for a role in protecting the town from fires,

Importance of Group Work
Assignment
Introduction
I am Zeeshan Ali; I am working as a Computer teacher for Classes VI X M in Canal Side Boys
Campus. I have done Masters in Computer Science (MCS) from Punjab University College of
Information and Technology (PUCIT) Lahore. The students are the main focus of every teacher
and our entire teaching efforts circle round our students to achieve the set targets. Effective
Teaching includes many useful teaching strategies that a teacher chooses according to the
requirement of his/her respective subject and topic as well. In result of my years of experience and
as a Computer teacher I find Group Work as the most effective and fruitful technique at every level.

Implementation of the Chosen Strategy
Keeping in view the importance of group work I applied the strategy in my comprising of 16
students to teach them Conversion of Hexadecimal into Binary Number System and Conversion
of Binary Number System into Hexadecimal Number System . The objective of my lesson was
to make students know how to convert an Octal Number into Binary Number System on the
board and its practical implementation. To achieve these objectives I started my lesson with a
question answer session to revise their previous concepts. After the recap session I divided my
class into groups of 4 students each and said them to identify Hexadecimal and Binary digits.
Then through exposition I explained the current topic how to convert a hexadecimal number into
binary on the board. For more detail explanation I solved three related examples on the board
interactively. In these examples I involved students to help me in solving these examples. This
was their learning towards the application of current topics properties. Later I assigned the
conversion task to the groups. Each group did its work and it was the responsibility of the group
leader to make sure participation of each member of the group. The groups prepared their
presentation and to give everyone an equal chance presentation was divided into parts. I kept on
observing the groups and encourage the participation of reluctant students during discussion time.
Then every group got a five minutes time to

Evaluation Of An Effective Evaluation Process
Data gathering, reviewing, and analyzation is a very important step in an effective evaluation or
assessment process. The outcome as well as any subsequent suggestions are based on the data and
review provided during the initial process. Guerra Lopez (2008) emphasized that the success of an
evaluation process is contingent upon five particular aspects about data and data sources: 1) data
relevance, 2) data collection, 3) evaluating data, 4) data reporting, and 5) avoiding data errors.
These five items contribute to an improved method and technique to build a better performance
evaluation and supports the statistical finds and the qualitative impact of the communicated results.

specifically, Guerra Lopez (2008) claimed that an organizations internal sources of data input are
often used as a means to identify prior performance and assessments needs and results. These
sources identified by Guerra Lopez are as follows.
Strategic plan: Management s source for communicating the organization s vision, business plan,
goals, and objectives. Describes the organizations prior outcomes and outlook for the future of the
company.
Annual reports: Identifies the immediate and potential future financial standing for the organization.
Project plans: List individual areas of concentration that connect directly with the organization s
overall strategic plan. It compartmentalizes the objectives of different divisions within the
organization based on function and potential.
Consulting studies: An independent study focused on a narrow window of assessment. These
studies are not evaluations in that they are not geared towards measuring the outcome of a program
or event but instead they are formed to review processes without labeling or assigning judgment or
measurements.

Negative Effects Of Sweatshops
Would you ever purposely go to a place where you would feel unsafe and uncomfortable?
Imagine having no other option but having to go to that place everyday because there was no
other alternative? Well that is the case for people in developing countries that work in factories,
better known as sweatshops making products for big name brands. They have to go to a work
environment where they do not feel safe nor comfortable everyday while the factory owners
willing know this and don t do anything about it. The workers for these companies go to earn a
wage that they are not able to live off of. Most of the facilities in which these workers make
products are buildings that are unsafe. Buildings without proper ventilation, and most of the
products that are constructed at these facility have to be dyed with hazardous chemicals that
give off dangerous fumes. In the film The True Cost one of the scenes of the inside of one of the
factories there is a mom working while her baby was laying on the ground below her. This image
is speaks loud. It screams unsafe, and unfair. Moms who are workers for these factories shouldn t
have to be placed through this while their managers know this is happening they do nothing about
it. In 2013 a factory building that was located in the Savar Upazilain the Dhaka Districtin
Bangladesh collapsed killing more than one thousand workers. This is a perfect example of how
managers in these facilities pay little attention to the severity of the working

Weaknesses Of The Diamond Model
Introduction
With rapid global competitions, nations seeking different ways to achieve competitive advantages,
yet there is never a certain model for establishing competitive advantages. In addition, the Diamond
Model proposed by Michael Porter considered as the most convincing one.
Porter (1990) argued that if a nation can achieve competitive advantages, certain factors are
required. He claimed a nation s competitiveness should depend onhow its industries are innovating
and upgrading. Nevertheless, advantages can gain through pressure and challenges, since if
companies are having strong domestic rivals, aggressive home based suppliers and demanding local
customers, they will needed to keep upgrading and innovating, as to hold the position. Furthermore,
Porter (1990) indicated howa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Waverman (1995, p.70) argued that does not distinguish between hypotheses,
theorems, conjectures and facts and thus cannot proceed to prove causality claiming the diamond
model was too general that it could only illustrate the situations between trade and competitions, yet
the model ended up with nothing construed.
Double Diamond Model
To adjust the weaknesses of the diamond model, the double diamond concept was suggested by
Rugman and D Cruz (1991) and following with Dunning (1992), stating that the analysis of factor
conditions, demand conditions and the forces driving the industry competition as well as the effects
of multinational activities should be considered into the model, so as to have a better framework to
understand the competitiveness behind nations.Theoretically, both models are critical in analyzing
a nation s competitiveness or consider as framework for developing a nation s competitiveness.

Roman Culture Depicted In Ridley Scott s Gladiator
In Ridley Scott s movie Gladiator, much of the storyline is based on facts about what life was like
in the Roman Empire. After the death of the much beloved emperor Marcus Aurelius, the reign of
the five good emperors came to an end. Emperors were a major part of Rome s history, civilization,
and rules. Although every factual story that Hollywood gets ahold of usually gets fantasized in one
way or another, this one gave a decently accurate depiction of Marcus Aurelius, gladiatorial training
and shows, Roman military, as well as depicting the battles that the Roman army fought. Things
such as the relationship between Aurelius and his son Commodus, the main character Maximus, and
Commodus and his sister Lucilla s relationship are very over... Show more content on

They were held in amphitheaters throughout the Empire and were often seen as not only a social
but also political gathering. The most famous and largest amphitheater was the Colosseum,
which could hold up to 50,000 audience members. This public slaughter of human beings was
seen as a form of entertainment and a way to get people s mind off of stressful things. These
games were known to be extremely bloody and terribly gruesome. The movie represents a pretty
good depiction of what a real gladiatorial show would look like. The Colosseum was used for
other entertainment purposes outside of gladiatorial shows such as mock naval battles
depicting glorious victories in the name of Rome. To this day we do not have any insight on
how the Roman s could have flooded the Colosseum and kept all of the water inside of it to host
these events. In gladiatorial shows, the gladiators that fought were criminals or slaves that were
trained in combat at special gladiatorial schools. There are only a few scenes in the movie that
show the gladiators training, but they show the teamwork that was used in some games in order
for the gladiators to live. Most of the time, gladiators were used as sitting ducks. They were set
up against huge, burly men who could kill someone with their bare hands. These games were
held from dawn to dusk and also sometimes featured wild animals that had the capability to tear
gladiators to bits and pieces. Not only did animals face humans, but they were also paired up to
fight other wild animals until there was only one left standing. The animals that were most
commonly used in the games were buffaloes, bears, bulls, tigers, and lions. Also, they did not
always give gladiators weapons to defend themselves with; quite often they sent them out to fight
with absolutely nothing. During one of the games that Maximus is involved in, he has to kill
several tigers and roman soldiers with only one sword and

Essay about Suspenseful Plot in Wilkie Collins The Woman...
The nineteenth century mystery novel The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins excites the
reader with detailed descriptions and a suspenseful plot. The testimony of multiple characters
reveals the story of Laura Fairlie s arranged marriage to Sir Percival Glyde. Percival s friend, Count
Fosco, is at his side, and Marian Halcombe, Laura s half sister, is at her side. Walter Hartright, a
watercolor artist, finds himself residing with Laura temporarily as he is hired to teach her his art.
The two soon fall in love, changing Laura s plans to marry Percival. Through the course of the
narrative, the underlying motives and secrets of each of the characters are revealed. Some readers

Collins uses the science of first impressions to develop both Laura Fairlie and Count Fosco
before the reader. Laura s introduction is descriptive and thorough, while certain details about the
Count are withheld until much later in the narrative. Vincent Gilmore s testimony was the first to
describe the Count. In this first impression to the reader, Gilmore reveals Mr. Philip Fairlie s
opinion of the Count. Mr. Fairlie and his sister, Eleanor, were on excellent terms with each other
until she was wed with Count Fosco. He disagreed with this arrangement so much that he
withdrew all communication with his sister, even removing her from his will (Collins 149). Mr.
Gilmore reveals that Mr. Fairlie s transparent mistrust for foreigners was the cause of this, but the
mention of this situation may cause the reader to cast just a shred of doubt upon his character
(when descriptions of him are otherwise scarce). Collins has already used suspense to lay the
foundation for the Count s character. Other than the fact that he is a foreigner married to Eleanor,
the reader does not know whether or not the Count will have a substantial role in the plot, and what
exactly his purpose is for being mentioned here.
The reader does not learn anything else about this character until Marian Halcome s testimony is
presented. She asks Laura for her impression of Count Fosco, but Laura suspensively remains

Analysis Of Angela Carter s Post Modern Rendition, Tiger...
When you think of the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast, what do you remember? In the typical
plot of Beauty and the Beast, Beauty aids the Beast in his transformation from beast to man. The
focus of the typical storyline is the battle between innate traits and characteristics accepted by
society. However, in Angela Carter s post modern rendition, Tiger s Bride, not only does she shift
the focus to explore the relationship between loveand self acceptance, but she also changes the plot
in efforts to make Beauty undergo a transformation. Through Carter s tone, exploration of power
dynamics, and use of imagery, the story follows the progression of the love and self acceptance that
influences Beauty s metamorphosis.
Within the story, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the moment between Beauty and the Beast continues, she feels as if [she is] within the field
of force of his golden eyes (81). This line signifies how much attraction lies between the two
characters as Beauty feels that she s in the field of force , keeping her entranced with him.
Consequently, each stroke of his tongue rip[s] off skin after successive skin (81), releasing Beauty
from any remaining ties to society and allowing her to have freedom. By removing each layer of
skin , the Beast ultimately unleashes Beauty s true identity, giving her the opportunity to fully accept
herself without the pressure to conform by society. With Carter s use of tone, the audience gains
the ability to explore how the love of the Beast causes Beauty to not only discover who she truly
is, but also learn how to accept herself.
Similarly, Carter explores the power dynamics between the Beast and Beauty, drawing attention
to how outside forces allow a person to develop self acceptance. In the beginning, Carter
introduces the audience to Beauty who has autonomy, yet still complies to societal norms. When
she encounters the Beast after she s left in the castle alone, she decides that she will not smile
(69) at him, simply because she does not want to. By choosing to not smile at the Beast, she
defies the typical role of a female in a fairy tale. However, the influence of society still has an
impact on her because when she

Hotel Literature Review
2. Literature Review
2.1 Why the hotel industry
The focus is on the hotel industry because; the geographical location of a hotel has a major impact
on its operations and profitability (Namasivayam, K., Enz, C. A.,
Siguaw, J. A. (2000). Furthermore geographical location of a hotel greatly determines the profile
of its visitors, the size of its market and the level of competition that it has to face. These three
variables also have a strong impact on the ICT adoption tendency of a hotel. This is because the ICT
adoption tendency of a hotel can be linked mainly to its expectations about the value addition that
ICTs can provide to its customers, as well as the belief about the expansion of its target market
through ICTs. A hotel will therefore be more inclined to adopt ICTs if it... Show more content on

Sports Facilities East Lothian Council Website
I used the John Gray website to find out the background knowledge of sports in East Lothian and
to find famous sporting people who were born and raised in East Lothian. This centre has access to

information is accurate.
I also used National records of Scotland to find out what the population was in East Lothian and
other important details like income and employment. This is a reliable source as it is from a

Anthem Characters
Anthem In this paper, I will be talking about the book called Anthem. I will be talking about
characters such as protagonists and antagonists and how some characters impacted the story. I will
talk about the setting, conflicts, and plot of the story. I will also talk about literary devices such as
point of view, symbolism, mood, tone, and theme. In Anthem, there are a couple of characters and
some are only mentioned and some only have a few lines of dialogue. The protagonistof Anthem is
Prometheus or Equality 7 2521 and the antagonists are the Council of Scholars. The council of
scholars would be the antagonists because they told the society how to think and that made
Prometheus think that he had a curse and was committing a lot of sins and to atone for his sins he
accepted the job as a street sweeper with any complaint. Two characters that influenced the plot are
Gaea and International 4 8818. Gaea or Liberty 5 3000 influences the plot by Prometheus noticing
her and speaking to her when they aren t supposed thus breaking a rule and later going to the
Uncharted forest to find Prometheus and live with him. International 4 8818 influenced the story by
making Prometheus think of him as his friend thus favoring him over other men which are against
the rule and keeping quiet about the tunnel that Prometheus and he found. These two characters
made Prometheus break the rules and was pushing him to have more a free will than the other men.

Benefits Of New Technology
Mr. Ojeda 4B
Mia Honrubia
Technological advancements help societies in various ways, helping them grow and thrive;
protecting them, providing enjoyment and improving quality of life. To determine whether or
not a new technology will be implemented, a strategy known as, cost benefit analysis is applied.
This analysis evaluates the costs involved upfront and over time as compared to the benefits
received from the new technology. For example, the development of new types of technology to
be used in medical care. New techniques may be more effective or have fewer side effects, but
may be too expensive to justify replacing the current standard of care. In addition to the monetary
cost there may also be negative outcomes that may pose a threat to health of our society. There has
to be a balance, for the new technology to be successful. An ideal new innovative technology, is
safer, cheaper, faster, and easier to maintain than the old technology being replaced.
Nuclear energy for example, is a relatively new kind of energy technology that is being introduced
into our world. Coal and natural gas make up old technology and are currently the major energy
sources in the United States. Some benefits of nuclear energy are that nuclear energy innovations
have made it a much more feasible choice than others. They have high energy density as compared
to fossil fuels. The amount of fuel required by nuclear power plant is comparatively less than what
is required by other power plants

  • 3. Geology of Yellowstone Essay Introduction It is believed that Native Americans inhabited the lands of what is now Yellowstone National Park for more than 11,000 years, until approximately 200 years ago, when European settlers began to drive many of them from their homelands. In 1872 Yellowstone was declared the world s first national park as a way to preserve and protect the land for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations. (National Park Service) Yellowstone National Park covers a vast area in the Northwestern United States. Its landscape is very complex and ever changing thanks to the many geological forces that are found there. In fact, the unique geological features such as the geysers, hot springs, steam vents, among many others, are what lead to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third eruption happened about 640,000 years ago, and spewed 240 cubic miles of material. This third eruption created the third and largest of Yellowstone s calderas, Yellowstone Caldera , which is 30 by 45 miles in size. The pyroclastic lava flows from this eruption formed the north wall of the caldera and are visible from the south facing cliffs east of Madison. (Solcomhouse) This third eruption is said to have vaporized an entire mountain range. Smaller eruptions have also helped to shape Today s Yellowstone, such as one that occurred 174,000 years ago and created what is now the West Thumb of Yellowstone Lake. (National Park Service) Many sources say that a catastrophic eruption, such as those that have formed the three calderas at Yellowstone, is unlikely during the next several hundred years, but if one such eruption did occur it would devastate much of the United States and would have the potential to alter the global climate. Lava flows of rhyolite and basalt have flowed through parts of Yellowstone as recently as 70,000 years ago. These lava flows destroyed everything in their paths while moving slowly at a rate of a few hundred feet per day, flowing months, or sometimes even several years. They are thick and cover as much as 130 square miles. They have nearly filled the Yellowstone Caldera, and spilled beyond the caldera s border. These lava flows are responsible for forming four of the nine named plateaus in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are characterized by the prescence of azomethine ( C=N N=C 15 min). The hydrazones obtained are tested for their DNA cleavage properties and some of them are found to show good chemical nuclease activity in the presence of both oxidizing agent (H2O2) and reducing agent (MPA). Some of them exhibited hydrolytic activity and their antioxidant activity was found to be very low. 2.5. • 5. The Positive Relationship Between Inflation And Inflation Some variables in Economics are very closely related to each other. In many cases, the combination of these variables can have an unexpected effect on the economy. One of these examples can be observed when we compare inflation and unemployment rate. To establish this comparison in a short run period of time, it will be beneficial to use the Phillip Curve. This curve can be used as a tool to represent the positive relationship between inflationand unemployment in the short run. In order to comprehend the positive relationship between inflation and unemployment first, we must know what inflation is, how we define unemployment, and how we can use the Phillip Curve to make a functional comparison of these two variables. Moreover, it will be very beneficial to analyze how expansionary fiscal policies affect the relationship between unemployment and inflation. If we understand the meaning of each of these variables in the economy, it will be easier to comprehend the logic of a short run trade off between unemployment and inflation. Inflation can be described as the sustained increase in the level price of goods and services over a period of time. Inflation can affect the economy in positive and negative ways. One of the negative ways in which inflation affects the economy is that it increases the opportunity cost of holding money, in other words, it decreases the real value of money. Inflation is said to occur when there is an excessive increase in the money supply. Among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Declaration Of Rights And Grievances By 1765, at a Stamp Act Congress, all but four colonies were represented as the Declaration of Rights and Grievances was passed. They were determined to let Parliament know that they were equal to British citizens, that there would be no taxation without representation, and all efforts to stop tax on colonists would continue (Kennedy, etal 2011.) Although Lord Rockingham, the predecessor of Grenville, sought to repeal of the Stamp Act, this in no way meant Parliament was conceding their control. In fact, while the Stamp Act was repealed, another called the Declaratory Act of 1766, gave Parliament the authority to make laws binding the American Colonies, in all cases whatsoever. In 1767, George III passed the Townshend Acts to collect tax on glass, lead, paints, paper and, tea. Recognizing that tea was a favorite among the Americans, it ensured greater revenue the British government. Again, the colonists rights for representation were ignored and they started to boycott British goods and ultimately, smuggle tea. When the Quartering Act was passed, which specified that colonists were to give room and board to British troops, tension began to rise. For two years, the colonists tolerated British troops on their soil and their dissatisfaction with the British Parliament and King George III became evident through many violent riots, abusiveness of tax collectors and destruction of property. • 9. Sanity And Insanity In Shakespeare s King Lear Determining the sanity and insanity of an individual can be extremely hard, especially when you do not know much about the person. In Shakespeare s King Lear there are many character who seem like they are going mad, and an example of such a character is King Lear. King Lear succumbs to anger, rash decisions, and grief driving him to insanity, thus leading to the destruction of the kingdom. King Learis a character who displays a great deal of anger throughout the course of the play, he often allows his anger to take over him. A lot of things that are said and during the course of the play are due to Lears anger which is a leading factor for his insanity. Lear loses his temper during a lovetest when his daughter does not give the answer that he was looking for, he disowns her calling Cordelia his, sometime daughter, (1.1.119) and gives her share of the land to her sisters. This in turn leads to his insanity because in his blind rage he does not acknowledge the sincerity behind Cordelia s veiled words; unlike her sisters she does not try to flatter her father in order to receive more land, whereas her sisters have their secrets agendas and do not truly love Lear. In addition to this, King Lear is also enraged when the Earl of Kent who is a loyal follower of Lear, goes against the banishment of Cordelia and speaks up in favour of the youngest daughter. The last survey prior to Margolis s arrival indicated that store managers were very dissatisfied with the performance of the Springfield WDC. Springfield was a poor performer and ranked last within the ELS network. Customers (retail store managers) complained that orders were late and not delivered in the right quantity. At least, thats what I try to be. I m not really a hard type A personality or anything and really enjoy hearing what others have to think and say about whats going on and how to best do something. In general, This type of leadership helps to bring more of a team spirit, and boosts the morale among the workers; probably because it gives each person an equal chance to voice his or her option about any decision made. He deemed it altogether valueless , and he believed that ours has been the first and will undoubtedly be the last, party of whites to visit the locality. It seems intended by nature that the Colorado River along the greater portion of its lonely and majestic way, shall be forever unvisited and disturbed (Powell, 3 4). Looking out at the vast beauty of the Grand Canyon, he was sure that it would never have any importance, and nobody would want to see it. Today, Grand Canyon National Park is one of the greatest and most well known natural landmarks in all of the United States. The Grand Canyon is considered one of the 7 Wonders of the Natural World. Allusions In To His Coy Mistress Upon first glance, Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress presents a simple seduction, as the speaker uses the passage of time in a straightforward attempt to get his mistress to sleep with him. Using the threat of inevitable death as a way of urging his mistress to seize the day and have sex with him, the speaker makes time appear all powerful and controlling for much of the poem. Marvell explores the theme of time differently in An Horatian Ode Upon Cromwell s Return from Ireland, as the speaker of this poem describes Cromwell s overthrow of the ancient order by suggesting that he overthrows the rules and workings of time itself. This interpretation of time as an entity that can be manipulated influences the portrayal of time in To His... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem starts out acknowledging the inevitability of death as the speaker tells his mistress, Your quaint honor turn to dust, / and into ashes all my lust, (29 30). The dry imagery implied in words such as dust and ashes show that all the heat and passion the speaker and his mistress currently feel are finite because of time s power. However, as the poem progresses, the speaker realizes that, despite the ever present threat of eventual death, there is a way to overturn time. He says, Tear our pleasures with rough strife / through the iron gates of life. / Thus, though we cannot make our sun / stand still, yet we will make him run, (43 46). The violent diction, evident through words such as tear and rough strife, suggests that the speaker and his mistress, by having sex, can break through the iron gates of life with force. Marvell uses hard r and f sounds in his description to emphasize this idea of breaking through. They would be able to break free from under time s control, thus making the sun run from them rather than running from time. The Use Of Surveillance As A Mechanism Of Control The use of Surveillance as a Mechanism of Control Elen1003 Project 2; Topic No. 2; Tutor: Deneo Mfenyana 1036603 James Phillips Surveillance is an extremely effective mechanism to control a large group of people or society in our modern world. This method of control can prove to have a strong effect on a person s sense of privacy and can induce a strong sense of fear and anxiety. There are various methods from which government agents can monitor a group of people. In the novel, 1984 by George Orwell, these methods and theories are depicted very well. These methods include, the use of Telescreens (similar to CCTV), spying organizations including undercover police, and a psychological mechanism of anxiety, called the Panopticon Effect . George Orwell s 1984, is not a prediction of how he thought that we would live in 1984, but is a warning of what can happen, if we allow a dictatorship or totalitarian state to take control In general, citizens of a country may be prone to accept certain methods of control, provided that their country is able to justify valid reasons for it. This has been implemented in the past, for example, during the Great Depression, the citizens of America had to accept methods such as rationing, as it was the only way to be able to access basic needs in times of no money and jobs (Rationing and Scrap Drives in Rural America, no date). The citizens may be told that surveillance will be in their best interest that it will protect them and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rene Descartes first begins to come to some kind of belief by the Third Meditation. Rene states . . . I am certain that I am a thinking being; but do I not therefore likewise know what is required to make me certain of something? (p113 Methods Meditations). He goes on to say that God could not possibly be deceitful, it would not be his divine nature. This is when things start to come together for Rene. After acknowledging that a divine God could not possibly be evil Rene goes even further to say that he (God) must exist. This equation sounds strange but to this point Rene never really considered if God even existed or if he was simply a part of his imagination. Rene s motto, De omnibus dubitandumest (everything is to be doubted), lead him back to basic proofs. His theory of analytical geometry was the first major contribution to the field of science. This theory helped to offset some of his doubts and in many ways gave him the realization that some qualities in life can be proven. For Descartes rule of everything to be doubted was only part of his philosophical life. While taking this rule very serious he did not recommend it as a way of life. In chemistry, there are eight different basic types of reactions. The eight basic reactions include: combustion, synthesis, decomposition, precipitation, single replacement, double replacement, acid/base, and redox reactions. These reactions are categorized into their reaction type by their differences and similarities. The first type of reaction is combustion. A combustion reaction is when a substance is combined with oxygen and releases heat and light energy. An example of a combustion reaction is the combustion of hydrogen. When a balloon with oxygen and hydrogen is supplied with heat by a candle, it triggers an explosive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another known name for this type of reaction is a displacement reaction. These type of solutions mostly occur in liquid solution and the amount of energy used in this type of reaction is smaller than that of a synthesis or decomposition reaction. In this type of reaction, in a compound, an element replaces a similar element. For example we have elements A, B, and X. In this equation we heave element A + compound BX. Element A will replace element B to form B + AX. (A + BX B + AX) Another reaction is a double replacement. This reaction usually produces an insoluble gas or water. Double replacement is when in two compounds, ions will exchange places in a liquid solution (aqueous solution) to form a new compound. For example A, B, X, and Y are ions in the first part of the equation, AX + BY. The ions X and Y will replace each other to form a new compound to form AY + BX. ( AX + BY AY + BY) A different type of reaction would be an acid/base reaction. This reaction is a neutralization. An acid is a substances that looses protons which are H+ ions and a base is a substance that receives protons. When equal amounts of protons are lost by an acid and the same amounts of protons are being received by a base, they neutralize each other. That creates a product that is neither acidic nor basic by the two substances (acid and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Published in 1975, the piece was conceived during a period of intense political action. In America, the seventies was a decade characterized by a significant push toward progressivism in terms of women s rights, anti war movements, and in creating contemporary beliefs about environmental issues. Ecotopiadraws upon this time frame in an almost self aware manner, giving it the ability to translate into the 21st century quite appropriately. The list included but were not limited too cookies, candy and action figures. This gave me the opportunity to use the reinforcers as ways to increase the desired behavior and decrease the inappropriate one. Although everyone agreed that God existed, philosophers such Anselm tried to prove God s existence anyway. In the passage Prosolgium, Anselm is trying to prove the existenceof God to Ganilo by giving two approaches. The goal of the dialog is to prove that the combination accepting that God exists and not believing that God exists is not possible. The conclusion of Anselm s proofs are that God exists. In order to understand where Anselm is coming from we have to have some background information. Anselm is speaking to Ganilo about the fool, in other words the atheists, that understands two important aspects of God. The first is that he accepts that claim that God exists and the second is that he does not believe in the existence of God. The next big piece of Anselm s proofs is his definition of God which is that than which nothing greater can be thought . The definition is stating that it is not possible for something greater then God to be thought. Knowing these two very important aspects of information we can dive into the argument itself. Paid family and medical leave is defined as period of time in which an employee can take time off to take care of personal needs and still receive partial wages. Thus far, paid family and medical leave is provided independently in five states: California, New York, New Jersey, Hawaii, and Rhode Island. It is funded differently in every state, but in most cases, money for paid leave comes from a small payroll tax or payroll deductions. In California and Rhode Island, paid family and medical leave is completely employee paid, while in New Jersey, it is a shared responsibility between employers and employees (Boushey). Currently, the only national legislation that addresses family and medical leave is the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) enacted in 1993. By reading the arguments the main issue is determining whether or not Social Security should be privatized or not. With roots of our nation lying in free will and the ability to form our own future, privatizing Social Security sounds like a way to live up to that precedent. The question now is what comes with privatizing Social Security? A few benefits seen can range from boosting money coming into the economy, which will help the national debt, it will help the poor and the minorities, and the ability to inherit accounts will be possible. With the long term privatization As stated by President George W. Bush, Personal accounts, which could be passed along to the next generation, would go a long way toward reducing that disparity. ( Privatizing Social Security ProCon.org. ) Basically what this means, is say someone is able to open up a private account and begin monthly putting money into that account, and by the time they reach retirement age or even right before retirement age they pass away, then the money that has been saved up is no longer required to support them. With Social Security the money that would be supporting them is no longer needed and will end up going to someone else or to benefit the government. With a private account you can build up money that can be passed down through family with the necessary guidelines to effectively make sure that the elders in the family are compensated for financially. If this went and became something that the majority of the nation took apart of, then one could hopefully say that overtime there would be less homeless people roaming the streets, and more would be secure through their private family ... The Colosseum was used for other entertainment purposes outside of gladiatorial shows such as mock naval battles depicting glorious victories in the name of Rome. To this day we do not have any insight on how the Roman s could have flooded the Colosseum and kept all of the water inside of it to host these events. In gladiatorial shows, the gladiators that fought were criminals or slaves that were trained in combat at special gladiatorial schools. With Carter s use of tone, the audience gains the ability to explore how the love of the Beast causes Beauty to not only discover who she truly is, but also learn how to accept herself. Similarly, Carter explores the power dynamics between the Beast and Beauty, drawing attention to how outside forces allow a person to develop self acceptance. • 49. Hotel Literature Review 2. Literature Review 2.1 Why the hotel industry The focus is on the hotel industry because; the geographical location of a hotel has a major impact on its operations and profitability (Namasivayam, K., Enz, C. A., Siguaw, J. A. (2000). Furthermore geographical location of a hotel greatly determines the profile of its visitors, the size of its market and the level of competition that it has to face. These three variables also have a strong impact on the ICT adoption tendency of a hotel. This is because the ICT adoption tendency of a hotel can be linked mainly to its expectations about the value addition that ICTs can provide to its customers, as well as the belief about the expansion of its target market through ICTs. • 50. Sports Facilities East Lothian Council Website I used the John Gray website to find out the background knowledge of sports in East Lothian and to find famous sporting people who were born and raised in East Lothian. This centre has access to archives and is ran by professional historians which means that this website is reliable and that the information is accurate. I also used National records of Scotland to find out what the population was in East Lothian and other important details like income and employment. The protagonistof Anthem is Prometheus or Equality 7 2521 and the antagonists are the Council of Scholars. The council of scholars would be the antagonists because they told the society how to think and that made Prometheus think that he had a curse and was committing a lot of sins and to atone for his sins he accepted the job as a street sweeper with any complaint. Benefits Of New Technology Mr. Ojeda 4B Mia Honrubia Technological advancements help societies in various ways, helping them grow and thrive; protecting them, providing enjoyment and improving quality of life. To determine whether or not a new technology will be implemented, a strategy known as, cost benefit analysis is applied. This analysis evaluates the costs involved upfront and over time as compared to the benefits received from the new technology. For example, the development of new types of technology to be used in medical care. New techniques may be more effective or have fewer side effects, but may be too expensive to justify replacing the current standard of care. In addition to the monetary cost there may also be negative outcomes that may pose a threat to health of our society. There has to be a balance, for the new technology to be successful. An ideal new innovative technology, is safer, cheaper, faster, and easier to maintain than the old technology being replaced.
