To what extent was universal white manhood suffrage achieved?
Although there were limited property requirements, there was still belief that a property
requirement was a test of character that an initiative man should be able to meet.
Requirements for property in order to vote were eliminated, and this success was celebrated by the
Jacksonians. The majority of laws and attitudes had altered by 1820, as the idea of universal white
male suffrage was widely known and welcomed.

The Charge Of The Light Brigade Figurative Language
The Charge of the Light Brigade , tells a story of the devoted actions of the soldiers in The Battle
of Balaclava . The Battle of Balaclava was fought by the Russian Empire against Britain, France,
the Kingdom of Sardinia, and the Ottoman Empire. It emphasizes the bravery of the horseman,
the use of language by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and the dedication/loyalty of the soldiers. The
poem emphasizes the bravery of the horseman. Tennyson wrote, Their not to make reply/ Theirs
not to reason why/ Their but to do and die/ Into the valley of Death/ Rode the six (Tennyson 93).
The soldiers still charged forward to fight, knowing that they could die. Russell wrote, At the
distance of 1200 yards the whole line of the enemy belched forth, from thirty iron mouths, a flood
of smoke and flame, through which hissed the deadly balls (Russell 89). Even though the soldiers
see all that is happening, they still confidently go on. Not afraid of what is going to happening to

Johnson wrote, Tennyson s narrative poem includes elements that are found in short stories such as
plot, characters, and settings (Johnson 92). The poem was written differently then how Russell
wrote his newspaper article. It reinforces their situation, in the poem. Johnson wrote, Repetition is
the use of a word, phrase, or line more than once ( Johnson 92). This use of poetic technique doesn t
allow the readers to forget it. The poem was written to impact the emotions of the reader,

Why Is Laertes Important In Hamlet
All humans, search for that person who understands them, that comes from similar positions in
life, and can comprehend how the decisions made were arrived at. In Hamlet, by William
Shakespeare the revenge of a father is approached in three different ways. The obvious one is the
subplot with Fortinbras, but the subtler one is Laertes. Shakespeare uses Laertes to show what
could have been if different approaches had been taken. Throughout the play, Laertes is not only the
reflection of Hamlet, but also the representation of choices Hamlet could have made. Shakespeare
is recognizable, because his pieces are open to interpretation and are understandable to every
generation. When reading Shakespeare, the key is to trudge through, if... Show more content on

Hamlet, unwilling to believe that Claudius murdered his father, sets up a trap to prove it.
Hamlet is a soft fellow, who thinks too much and has many suicidal tendencies. Even after he
has proven that Claudius is guilty, and is granted an opportunity for vengeance he passes it over,
using the excuse of not wishing to kill a man in confession. Meanwhile, Hamlet has no trouble
killing Polonius through the curtains because he was spying on the meeting between Gertrude
and Hamlet. Hamlet also knows for the majority of the play that he will end up killing his old
companions: Guildenstern and Rosencrantz. Only the king presents an obstacle for Hamlet. As a
result of the murder of Polonius, the audience views what Hamlet could have done to Claudius.
When Laertes returns from abroad because his father is dead (just as Hamlet returned home at the
beginning of the play), he is presented with the shock of a mad sister who is obsessed with and
the fact that his father s murderer is Hamlet and under the king s protection. Upon his arrival the
people proclaim him the next king, as Hamlet should have been if Gertrude had stayed

Age Of The Fetus Essay
Introduction The first and foremost thing here in this case study is that the age of the fetus is not
clear at all as it is told that Jessica finds herself pregnant six months before moving to their private
quarters. Later it is told that four months later that they went to the clinic. So there is a natural
doubt when did Jessica and Marco go to hospital for the tests? I proceed in this paper with an
assumption that it is after four months/seventeen weeks of her pregnancythat Jessica went to
hospital.
The Theory / Theories The case is that of fetus abnormality where the fetus is seen in the scan as
deformed or specifically without arms and also a possibility of having Down syndrome. It is true
that the parents don t want such a child in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rarely were the rights of the prospective mother, much less the prospective child, taken into
consideration. Although generally legal, the morality of abortion, birth control and child
abandonment (as a form of infanticide) was sometimes discussed. Then, as now, these
discussions often concerned the nature of man, the existence of a soul, the beginning of life,
and the beginning of human personhood. If a fetus is a person, it is a person in very special
circumstances it exists entirely within the body of another much larger person and usually
cannot be the object of direct action by another person. The position Marco and her wife is not
that clear from the available case study. But the position of Aunt Maria is very clear. She holds
the view or the theory that of the pro life movement. Here the emphasize is on the right of the
embryo or fetus to gestate to term and be born. She is very clear about the status of the fetus as it
is human life and that is to be protected by all means. The fetus has the right to be germinated and
to be born and grow in to its maturity. Nobody has the right to terminate a life that God has created.

Evaluation Of An Oral Informed Consent
Methods
Participants
There were 135 participants in this study; 57 were male (43%) and 77 were female (57%), and one
participant did not report gender. Participants age ranged from 16 to 60 (M = 24.08, SD = 7.84).
This sample consisted of 77% Hispanic (N = 104), 11% Caucasian (N = 15), 5% African American
(N = 7), 4% Asian (N = 6), and 2% who reported another ethnicity (N = 3).
Materials and Procedure Participants willing to take part in this study were asked for an oral
informed consent. An oral yes or no response was accepted. After consenting to participate,
participants were asked to randomly select one of three writing task documents where they were
first asked to describe an event in their life. Once the writing task was completed, participants were
asked to complete a written survey titled the Feeling Questionnaire where the participant was asked
to reveal how they were currently feeling about themselves. The questionnaire was broken down
into three parts. Part one and part two supplied responses on a rating scale and part three supplied
demographic information.
The questionnaire was set up in a way that questions 1, 2 and 3 in part one were designed to assess
a participant s self esteem and was measured on a rating scale of 1 to 9 with 1 being strongly
disagree and 9 being strongly agree. The writing task was our primary independent variable for this
study, which placed one third of the participants in the Dissonance condition (D), one third

How Has Technology Changed Over Time
How has technology changed over time? The world of technology has massively changed from time
to time giving us more advanced computers, phones, and cars.Education, curiosity, and knowledge
have played an important part in the advance of technology.Throughout history, developments in
technology and communications have gone hand in hand, and the latest technological
developments such as the Internetand mobile devices have resulted in the advancement of the
scienceof communication to a new level. Some of the results of technologyare phone, cars and
computers.
In 1876 , Alexander Graham Bell invented the first phone to talk and now the purpose of cell
phone has shifted from a verbal communication tool to a multimedia tool. We now use our cell
phones more for surfing the web, checking email, snapping photos, and updating our social media
status than actually placing calls. Some of the best phone companies are Samsung and

Chewing Gum Experiment Hypothesis
The topic that I researched was if chewing gum affected concentration. This was interesting to me
because I ve seen things on the internet that says Chewing gum helps you remember things or
chewing gum helps you concentrate and I wanted to know if it was true. A hypothesis is a
prediction statement that you can test, about the relationship between two variables. The hypothesis
for this research is that I believe that gum does help you concentrate because it helps you stay alert
instead of getting distracted or dozing off. To test this question, there would be two groups of
people, one that are chewing gumand one that are not. First, they are going to receive a sheet of
paper with 100 basic problems on it. Both subjects are going to... Show more content on

Random assignment is when someone assign a participant to experimental and control groups
by chance. This is done to minimize the preexisting differences to the assigned group. To do this,
I would need to give everyone one slip of paper, randomly chosen that says group 1 no gum,
group 1 with gum, group 2 no gum and group 2 with gum. This would make it so that the groups
are chosen randomly. The population would be ten in each group so that would equal forty
people in total. These people would be from the same school, and same grade level to ensure that
they are around the same age. I would ensure that i have a representative sample, a small quantity
of something that accurately reflects the larger population, by testing it on different ages so that it
would represent the whole population instead of just one grade level. Experimenter bias is a
process where the person performing the research influences the results in order to portray a certain
outcome. This would not influence my experiment because everything would be randomized and I
wouldn t alter the results because I would want to know the real answer answer to my research
question. To overcome experimenter bias all data should

This is a situation in which those entities that are government owned are governed by GASB and
those that are owned by the private sector are governed by the FASB. According to the current
rules the GASB would consider the fact that the private sector special entities have their financial
statements prepared in accordance to the FASB and this matter should be considered by the GASB
when it is comparing financial statements of privately owned and state owned special entities. In
other words the private entities continue to be governed by the FASB in this environment.
The objective of the GASB is to set and improve standards of local and state government financial
accounting. GASB objectives are also to improve the government s ability to show its performance
to the public, to improve the information available to the public so that they can hold the
government responsible, to guide all users of government financial reports and provide useful
information to the users of the financial reports of government entities. The objective of the FASB
is to set accounting standards for public companies in the US. Its objectives include improving the
relevance and reliability, comparability and consistency, and convergence and quality of financial
reporting. It also strives to keep standards current, rectify areas of deficiency in financial reporting

are required to push rival firms out of business. This essay will center its focus on the key strategies
that Dish has adopted over the years to remain in business and at the same time gain competitive
advantage. The first key strategy that Dish Corporation has adopted in its quest to gain competitive
advantage over its competitors is putting more emphasis on customer focus. Customer focus in the
latter perspective represents boosting services such as customer care. In the recent years, the firm

FIRST RESPONDER: THE ATP CP ENERGY SYSTEM
Whether you re running a 40 meter dash, jumping up to answer the phone, or catching a child
falling off the monkey bars, the adenosine triphosphate creatine phosphate (ATP CP) system is
first to respond. Among your three energy systems, it s the one most prepared for emergencies. It
kicks in whenever the oxidative system, your body s normal method for providing energy, isn t up
to the demands you re placing on it.
All three of your energy systems ultimately run on ATP: It s the fuel source for all your physical
functions, from eating to breathing to running hill sprints. Your glycolytic and oxidative systems
(which we ll cover shortly) make most of this ATP to order, cobbling it together from the food you
eat and the air you breathe as need arises.
But a small quantity of ATP is socked away in your muscles for when you need to expend a short
burst of energy in a hurry. Let s say you re doing a single barbell squat with close to max weight.
As you power the weight up, the muscles of your hips, thighs and lower back immediately burn
through their ATP stores. Once the ATP has done its job, it s either further broken down or
recycled (with the help of another substance, creatine phosphate, or CP), so it can provide more
energy to your working muscles.
How fast does the ATP CP system gear up? Blink and you ll miss it. Once you begin hard activity,

The Work Of Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs, though mostly known for being the co founder and CEO of Apple, was also the
founder of another computer software company called NeXT, as well as the man who brought
Pixar, a computer based production company, into light. Mainly through Apple, Steve
revolutionized the way society manipulates technology. If you have seen Pixar produced films,
such as Toy Story or Monsters, Inc. , Jobs had a direct impact on those films. Steven Paul Jobs
was undoubtedly the most significant person in the journey to making home computers
accessible to everyone. Living in San Francisco, Joanne Schieble was a speech therapist and
Abdulfattah Jandali was a Syrian political science professor. On February 24, 1955, the two
University of Washington graduates gave birth to their newborn son. Soon after birth, they put
their unnamed son up for adoption. Clara and Paul Jobs adopted their son, Steven Paul Jobs .
The family lived in Mountain View, California. Clara worked her years as an accountant while
Paul was a machinist and Coast Guard veteran. Growing up, Jobs spent a lot of time in the family

Eumaeus welcomed Odysseus into his home; the audience sees right away that Eumaeus respects
custom. Eumaeus misses Odysseus and explains that longing for him, him that wrings [his] heart

From what Eumaeus has explained, Penelopes loyalty is emphasized since she has ignored the

Right when Telemachus was about to head home, the gods sent a sign: an eagle swooped down
from the crags where it was born and bred... snatched that goose fattened up for the kill inside the
house (15.194 196). Helen interpreted the sign and explained that just so, after many trials and
roving long and hard, Odysseus will descend on his house and take revenge unless he s home
already, sowing seeds of ruin for that whole crowd of suitors (15.197 200) This made Telemachus
hopeful but suggests the fate of the suitors back in Ithaca, which has been suggested throughout the
story. This gives Telemachus some closure on his father s homecoming.

A Critique Of The Social Contract
A Critique of the Social Contract According To John Locke
Introduction
John Locke embedded his political ideas in the form of two treatises popularly known as Two
Treatises on Civil Government that he authored in 1690. In the first treatise, Locke disagrees with
the political and social philosophy of Robert Filmer in his work known as Patriacha, authored in
1654. The second treatise contains Locke s viewpoint on political philosophy where he expounds the
origin, authority and the significance of a civil government. In addition, the treatise contains his
view on the state of nature, the social contract, political groupings, types of government and a
citizen s right to own private property.

In other words, human beings can be depended upon based on the fact that they are rational.
Unlike Hobbes, Locke believed that human beings are unselfish and social. It is only in exceptional
cases that some human beings are selfish, overly competitive and aggressive otherwise; most
human beings are able to rule themselves through the law of nature or through rational thinking.
Human beings are born free and are equal. The presence of reason in human beings ensures that
they remain rational in their dealings. This factor enables human beings to discover the right
behavior as seen in their control of emotions, anger, and expression of love among others.
Instinctively, man desires to live in peace and harmony with fellow men.
In regard to the state of nature, Locke contrasts Hobbes by asserting that there was law, order,
peace and private property. Political legitimacy and power is derived from the state of nature
since according to Locke, man has always lived in perfect equality and freedom where human
beings order their actions and use their property within the confines of the law of nature. However,
the state of nature does not imply misuse of liberty but using such liberty for the good of self

False Statistical Data Analysis
Statistics are an important part of every day life and can be used throughout many different
activities. Many statistics, however, are altered and can be deceptive at first glance. One
example of this includes the claim that women make less money than men. When analyzing
statistics of a set of data, one must take into account sample size and other parameters. In this
particular example, it may be true that the mean of women s income is large in a sample of ten

This interests me because it shows how companies use deception to sell a product. Furthermore, I
was captivated by the concept of not blinding accepting findings, but instead thinking about the
processes, sources, and numbers that prove the concept. This type of thinking is critical in
solving problems and generating innovative solutions. In the future, I will use this method of
asking questions and using evidence to back up my claims. I found it most difficult to understand
the idea of how diverse the usage of statistics in an average day. The idea that probability and
other statistical concepts exist in our world through real life examples fascinates me. This created
unrest in me because it is easy to fall into the trap of simply believing what one sees at first glance.
This way of thinking could create problematic

Analysis Of Delightrope
Janelle MonГЎes Tightrope is an empowering piece that is directed towards all groups and ages.
The hip beat, electric sounds, and encouraging lyrics lifts spirits, and can inspire anyone that is
discouraged from life. Her music is mainly comprised of uplifting songs that are relatable for most,
and aids in restoring confidence. This song communicates with the listener that we should be
confident in ourselves as a person (as we ALL have something unique and special about us), and to
stay balanced despite the negativity coming from others and our environment. In this particular part
of the song she sings When you get elevated/ They love it or they hate it/ You dance on them haters

And the Earth Did Not Devour Them by Tomas Rivera
...And the Earth Did Not Devour Him is not a story of one character, but rather of a people.
Rivera, much like in the Actos of El Teatro Campesino, basically uses a stock character. Although
each story seemingly gives more detail and specificity to the character, it can also be interpreted
as doing the exact opposite. In telling of the life of one, Rivera in turn reveals the lives of many.
Even though specific details of each of their lives were obviously different, the core issues still
remained; Chicanos needed changeand they needed it immediately. One of the most noticeable
techniques Rivera uses within his novelis the constant changing of the point of view. The novel is
centered on an unnamed male protagonist, however, throughout the story the point of view ranges
from that of a mother praying for her son unwillingly fighting in Vietnam to that of an omniscient
narrator, capable of entering anyone s heads. This often times seemed to be very random and
even abrupt. However, it was through the sporadic sprinklings of changes in point of views that
Rivera was able to not only showcase cultural struggles of the time, but also call for social
change as well as reveal the confusion and uncertainty of the people themselves. First and
foremost, this novel is about Chicano people and the struggles they endured. While each small
passage can be viewed as the progression of the unknown male protagonist, it also gives a
multitude of other views as well. Middle aged male

Description Of An 11th Birthday Party
My 11th Birthday Party
Here I go, Splash! That was an epic cannonball. I was so excited when my 11th birthday rolled
around. I woke up, scrambled up the stairs and yelled everyone in the car NOW! We have a party
to get too. When we first got to the campsite at Yogi Bear, I got my bathing suit on and jumped in
the lake. When my friend, Harper, showed up we both got on the lake then we went to the
JUMPING PILLOWS! I love the jumping pillows although I did get banned from them when we
left because I was doing FLIPS! Oops. Finally, Karlie showed up eventually we all went to the
jumping pillows and jumped around with these boys that at first looked pretty cute but were
real jerks. After we got back we went swimming in the lake and my mom said that I had to help set
up our tents before I could do anything so she was sort of a fun killer. I got out of the water to help
my mom when my mom gave me a pack of water balloons which of course we blew up to throw at
people.
I had invited one of my other friends, Elly she showed up after Karlie did. When all my friends
were there I finally go to open PRESENTS! I was so excited to open my present I could have
died from an excitement overdose. Everything became fuzzy and started spinning CanT bReaTh I
m just kidding but trust me it would have been bad. I vastly started tearing away at the gift wrap to
get to the good stuff it was like I was trying to get to Narnia.

Islam And The United States Essay
There is not much information on when Muslims first arrived in America, but there has been
evidence that some of the slaves were Muslim, but didn t have the ability to practice their religion
freely, they also tried to accommodate their faith with Christianity, but others were converted. It was
about twenty percent of the slaves in the US were Muslim. One of the first known Muslims in the
United States, was a slave from Morocco, named Estevanico, who was shipwrecked with Spanish
Explorers near the where the city Galveston, Texas is. After that there weren t many Muslims
coming into the United States until the twentieth century. This is shown by the evidence that one of
the first mosques was built in North Dakota in 1929, and while the mosque was demolished a
Muslim cemetery still stands near the spot of that mosque. Islamstarted in the 7th century with a
prophet named Muhammad. It is an Abrahamic religion, like Judaism and Christianity, but Muslims
believe that Islam is a step further than the other two religions.
According to a Gallup Poll from 2008, out of the 319751 respondents only 946 identified as
Muslim, which is around .29 percent of the respondents. In the Gallup report, they also mention that
35% of Muslim Americans are African American, 18% are Asian, it is not broken down into
whether it is South Asian or East Asian, and 18% is other.

Dickens might have chosen the name Pip as it suggests that he originated from something small
but his expectations have resulted in him to flourish into a gentleman. This can relate to the social
standing between Pip and Estella as she comes from a higher class. The name Estella is derived
from the word stella meaning star; it could imply that that Estella is out of Pip s reach.
Caliban s submissive behaviour to his yearnings can be seen in Act 2 scene 2 when Stephano
offers Caliban alcohol this relates to the trade and discovery of new products such as the potato,
spices, coffee, alcohol and much more. Having too much of a good thing has weakened Caliban
as it is used against him as a leverage. Stephano also has flaws of his own such as trying to
civilise Caliban which goes against his nature which many tried to do in order to colonise
indigenous people. Stephano s flaw can be subliminally noticed in the money given to Pip as the
money controls his behaviour. Some might say that the money given to Pip has damaged his true
nature as he spends his entire youth trying to better himself and his appearance as he is ashamed,
this can be seen in chapter 27 when Joe visits Pip in London, this is demonstrated in Pip s analysis

Newspaper Comparison
Newspaper Comparison
Today s society is in many respects dominated by the media. Newspapers, books, television, radio
and the Internet not only play significant role in an average person s life but are also multi billion
pound industries that, through the public exposure they are subject to, carry great influence. One
of the oldest media formats still in use is the newspaper. This old printed format carries great
political power and boasts huge readerships, partly due to its cheap price, never exceeding a few
pounds an issue, and its portability.
Throughout the decades during which Newspapers have developed, two main styles of writing and
presentation in newspapers have emerged: Tabloidand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and subjective newspapers containing more pictures and easy to read text (such as the Sun and

readily understood by the less well educated and intellectual members of the public. Clearly, the
properties of these formats can be seen as direct opposites. However they do share some
similarities. An obvious common property of all newspapers is that they are commercial, that is,
that they will try to appeal to a large a readership as possible, within their market niche readership
and this is reflected in their range of content and style. Some newspapers try to appeal to more
people by mixing elements of tabloids and broadsheets (such as the Daily Mail and the Daily
Express), although the large tabloid and broadsheet newspapers tend to follow the traditional
stereotypical styles for their type. The other key similarity between each type of newspaper is that
they all exist to report the news and current affairs, differing only in the way in which they present
and portray news stories which is also dependent on the preference of their readership. However,
their priorities regarding what stories are newsworthy differ

The Beliefs Of Donald Trump And Trump Criticism
These are the NFL Players Protesting today amid Trump Criticism
Are Americans going about protesting their beliefs in the correct way? Standing during the
National Anthem has been a way Americans show respect for their country since the 1800 s,
therefore not standing is nothing short of disrespectful. Last year, former pro quarterback Colin
Kaepernick started kneeling during the National Anthem because he believed standing was social
and racial injustice and players today have followed his actions. After a statement from President
Trump on Sunday, September 24th, there has been nothing but more chaos and protests throughout
our Nation s professional football teams. All American citizens should know and understand that
protesting is perfectly acceptable but protesting and disrespecting something that is completely
irrelevant is not, there is nothing anyone can do about who the elected President is and you can t
take everything Donald Trump says seriously, but regardless of the situation, it is never acceptable
Kneel during our National Anthem. America is a country all about freedom, therefore those who
choose to protest have every right to do so but disrespecting something that has been a part of the
American tradition for over two hundred years is not the right way to go about it. Colin
Kaepernick started the trend of kneeling during the National Anthem last year and said he refuses

Candles And Religious Beliefs
Candles are a popular gift item in department stores today, consumers purchase them in large part
for their scent and appearance. Historically, candles have been used for light, for providing heat,
for keeping time and for religious ceremonies and celebrations. We seldom use them for lighting
today unless it s for ambiance and I doubt anyone would still know how to tell time with a candle.
Candlesare still a symbolic feature at ceremonies such as baptisms, weddings and even birthday
parties and they are still a prominent feature in religious ceremonies and holidays. In The History
of Candles from Prehistoric Times until Now Mary Deane states that the earliest form of candles
started were actually torches that were used to transport fire. Based on evidence found in 2008 at
the Gesher Benot Ya aqov site in northern Israel (Dean) that places the first candles around 790,000
years old. From Biblical times through the Industrial Revolution candles have been used for both
necessity and novelty.
Early candles are not representative of the container or caper candles purchased in store today.
Ancient Egyptians used rushlights, a primitive candle form made without a wick. Between AD
40 79, Roman historian Pliny described the making of rushlights as a rush dip . These cup
shaped objects were most likely made from rocks that had deeper depressions in them and were
prepared by dipping tall grasses or rushes in melted tallow, a fat rendered from meat. Pliny said

Gender Stereotypes On Children
Gender stereotypes affect children substantially. From the baby boy in blue with trucks and
action figures to the baby girl in pink with dolls and princesses, these roles and generalizations
affect children s personalities while they are still developing. Those guiltiest of stereotyping in
children s media are Disney, Nintendo and other video game companies, and reality television.
These influences are expansive, and they reach past elementary age kids to teenagers. Stereotypes
negatively impact children of all ages through these forms of media, and parents need to be aware
of this. Disney, and the princess brand in particular, enforces genderstereotypes on young girls.

Liechty also says that characters such as Snow White and Cinderella are admirable for
remaining nice, despite bad people trying to hurt them. Again, she has a point: princesses do
teach girls to treat others with respect, but their respect would take them further if it was
reciprocated. Liechty s final arguments involve men: what is wrong with not being happy
without a man, and why is it bad that boys are taught to be gallant and courteous? The answers to
both are simple. Firstly, there is a difference between loving a person enough that their loss
would ruin one s life, and losing one s value because there is no longer male attention to validate
it. Secondly, the example princes set for boys are good ones, but with gender roles declaring

and women thought about their lives: They had to have the ideal look . As she told her story, Joni
said, For one thing, my life values have gotten turned from wrong side down to right side up. Even
more, she wants people to know that there are so many other things like friendships, relationships,
and love that matter much more than that ideal look . Instead of focusing on what she wanted
herself to look like, Joni devoted her life to her faith, her marriage, and to her artwork ( Joni s Life

because her life suddenly got extremely difficult. On several occasions, she went to the Word of
God for the answer to her questions and troubles. Joni has not only remained devoted to God,

Examining Effectiveness Of Treatment Strategies Used With...
Examining Effectiveness of Treatment Strategies Used With Survivors of Rape Therapy for
survivors of rape is often difficult to obtain. The lack of availability of counselors who specialize in
specific trauma treatments, like prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy, as well as
lack of insurance and location, are hardships for treatment seeking individuals. Therefore, it is
important to pinpoint the most effective treatments for those who have suffered the trauma of rape.
The purpose of this research is to outline the most effective, lasting, and current treatments used to
treat female survivors of sexual assault. Modern treatments for rape trauma syndrome include
cognitive, behavioral, and exposure components. The specific protocols of cognitive processing
therapy and prolonged exposure have both been demonstrated to be effective in treating
posttraumatic stress disorder and common comorbid disorders, like depression, anxiety, guilt, and
anger (Resick, Williams, Suvak, Monson, Gradus, 2012, p. 202). Existential therapy, person
centered counseling, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing are underlying
philosophies and techniques investigated. It can prove difficult to find empirically supported
treatments because the research is often not explicitly experimental, and there is a limitation to
sampling. Examining different types of standard treatments used with female survivors of rape is

2.1 Explain how children and young people s development is influenced by a range of personal
factors There are 5 main personal factors that can influence a child s development, these are:
Health If a child is in poor health then this will have an impact on their development. For
example, a child with uncontrolled asthma or cystic fibrosis may not be able to run around and be
as active as their peers. Therefore, this would mean that his physical development might not be the
same. Not being able to play outside would almost certainly affect the social development, as
children make many friendships on the playground and at after school clubs. Disability A child in a

Genetic A baby s genes are determined at conception. If something is faulty at this stage, this can
have a huge impact on the child s development. This may be physical or intellectual. If a mother
takes drugs or smokes when pregnant, there is an increased chance of delivering an underweight
baby at birth. It can also lead to cognitive problems for the child as they get older. Visual
impairment Children who have visual impairment usually have some vision; this can vary from
each child. Some children may be able to see outlines of objects while others may only be able
to tell the difference between light and dark. If a child has vision problems this nearly always
initially delays their physical development. Their gross and fine motor skills would be affected
because they would be unable to be as adventurous as children with good vision. Fine motor
skills may not be in line with other children as the child would find it hard to do tasks that
require precision such as threading beads or colouring a picture. Cognitive and language skills
would also be affected, even if the child was able to read it would take longer to learn especially
if it involved using braille. With the right interventions in place there is no reason why a child with
visual impairment would not be able to catch up with their peers. Hearing impairment Hearing is a

that I helped research as a group for our senior project was how students with special needs

With proper guidance and support, these children with disabilities can be able to interact with other
children unlike them in a comfortable environment. Furthermore, it has been seen in many instants
where children with disabilities are able to interact with similar children with ease than to that of
others. A variety of reasons can be held accountable for this explanation, such as how much time is
spent with comparable children, and the emotions that are felt during these time periods. For
example, during our interview, our mentor was able to inform us on how caring the children are for
one another, which I feel takes into account where they spend the majority of their day in school
together, and those students are the children that they interact with almost everyday. Additionally,
many will say that the more time you spend with a person, the more you get to know them and care

So, where does that leave the children and the parents who cannot afford these programs? It can

  • 3. The Charge Of The Light Brigade Figurative Language The Charge of the Light Brigade , tells a story of the devoted actions of the soldiers in The Battle of Balaclava . The Battle of Balaclava was fought by the Russian Empire against Britain, France, the Kingdom of Sardinia, and the Ottoman Empire. It emphasizes the bravery of the horseman, the use of language by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and the dedication/loyalty of the soldiers. The poem emphasizes the bravery of the horseman. Tennyson wrote, Their not to make reply/ Theirs not to reason why/ Their but to do and die/ Into the valley of Death/ Rode the six (Tennyson 93). The soldiers still charged forward to fight, knowing that they could die. Russell wrote, At the distance of 1200 yards the whole line of the enemy belched forth, from thirty iron mouths, a flood of smoke and flame, through which hissed the deadly balls (Russell 89). Even though the soldiers see all that is happening, they still confidently go on. Not afraid of what is going to happening to them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Why Is Laertes Important In Hamlet All humans, search for that person who understands them, that comes from similar positions in life, and can comprehend how the decisions made were arrived at. In Hamlet, by William Shakespeare the revenge of a father is approached in three different ways. The obvious one is the subplot with Fortinbras, but the subtler one is Laertes. Shakespeare uses Laertes to show what could have been if different approaches had been taken. Throughout the play, Laertes is not only the reflection of Hamlet, but also the representation of choices Hamlet could have made. Shakespeare is recognizable, because his pieces are open to interpretation and are understandable to every generation. When reading Shakespeare, the key is to trudge through, if... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hamlet, unwilling to believe that Claudius murdered his father, sets up a trap to prove it. Hamlet is a soft fellow, who thinks too much and has many suicidal tendencies. Even after he has proven that Claudius is guilty, and is granted an opportunity for vengeance he passes it over, using the excuse of not wishing to kill a man in confession. Meanwhile, Hamlet has no trouble killing Polonius through the curtains because he was spying on the meeting between Gertrude and Hamlet. Hamlet also knows for the majority of the play that he will end up killing his old companions: Guildenstern and Rosencrantz. Only the king presents an obstacle for Hamlet. As a result of the murder of Polonius, the audience views what Hamlet could have done to Claudius. When Laertes returns from abroad because his father is dead (just as Hamlet returned home at the beginning of the play), he is presented with the shock of a mad sister who is obsessed with and the fact that his father s murderer is Hamlet and under the king s protection. Upon his arrival the people proclaim him the next king, as Hamlet should have been if Gertrude had stayed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Age Of The Fetus Essay Introduction The first and foremost thing here in this case study is that the age of the fetus is not clear at all as it is told that Jessica finds herself pregnant six months before moving to their private quarters. Later it is told that four months later that they went to the clinic. So there is a natural doubt when did Jessica and Marco go to hospital for the tests? I proceed in this paper with an assumption that it is after four months/seventeen weeks of her pregnancythat Jessica went to hospital. The Theory / Theories The case is that of fetus abnormality where the fetus is seen in the scan as deformed or specifically without arms and also a possibility of having Down syndrome. It is true that the parents don t want such a child in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rarely were the rights of the prospective mother, much less the prospective child, taken into consideration. Although generally legal, the morality of abortion, birth control and child abandonment (as a form of infanticide) was sometimes discussed. Then, as now, these discussions often concerned the nature of man, the existence of a soul, the beginning of life, and the beginning of human personhood. If a fetus is a person, it is a person in very special circumstances it exists entirely within the body of another much larger person and usually cannot be the object of direct action by another person. The position Marco and her wife is not that clear from the available case study. But the position of Aunt Maria is very clear. She holds the view or the theory that of the pro life movement. It kicks in whenever the oxidative system, your body s normal method for providing energy, isn t up to the demands you re placing on it. All three of your energy systems ultimately run on ATP: It s the fuel source for all your physical functions, from eating to breathing to running hill sprints. Your glycolytic and oxidative systems (which we ll cover shortly) make most of this ATP to order, cobbling it together from the food you eat and the air you breathe as need arises. Many statistics, however, are altered and can be deceptive at first glance. One example of this includes the claim that women make less money than men. When analyzing statistics of a set of data, one must take into account sample size and other parameters. In this particular example, it may be true that the mean of women s income is large in a sample of ten participants. Rivera, much like in the Actos of El Teatro Campesino, basically uses a stock character. Although each story seemingly gives more detail and specificity to the character, it can also be interpreted as doing the exact opposite. In telling of the life of one, Rivera in turn reveals the lives of many. Even though specific details of each of their lives were obviously different, the core issues still remained; Chicanos needed changeand they needed it immediately. One of the most noticeable techniques Rivera uses within his novelis the constant changing of the point of view. The novel is centered on an unnamed male protagonist, however, throughout the story the point of view ranges from that of a mother praying for her son unwillingly fighting in Vietnam to that of an omniscient narrator, capable of entering anyone s heads. This often times seemed to be very random and even abrupt. However, it was through the sporadic sprinklings of changes in point of views that Rivera was able to not only showcase cultural struggles of the time, but also call for social change as well as reveal the confusion and uncertainty of the people themselves. First and foremost, this novel is about Chicano people and the struggles they endured. While each small passage can be viewed as the progression of the unknown male protagonist, it also gives a multitude of other views as well. Middle aged male ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This old printed format carries great political power and boasts huge readerships, partly due to its cheap price, never exceeding a few pounds an issue, and its portability. Throughout the decades during which Newspapers have developed, two main styles of writing and presentation in newspapers have emerged: Tabloidand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clearly, the properties of these formats can be seen as direct opposites. However they do share some similarities. An obvious common property of all newspapers is that they are commercial, that is, that they will try to appeal to a large a readership as possible, within their market niche readership and this is reflected in their range of content and style. Some newspapers try to appeal to more people by mixing elements of tabloids and broadsheets (such as the Daily Mail and the Daily Express), although the large tabloid and broadsheet newspapers tend to follow the traditional stereotypical styles for their type. The other key similarity between each type of newspaper is that they all exist to report the news and current affairs, differing only in the way in which they present and portray news stories which is also dependent on the preference of their readership. Standing during the National Anthem has been a way Americans show respect for their country since the 1800 s, therefore not standing is nothing short of disrespectful. Last year, former pro quarterback Colin Kaepernick started kneeling during the National Anthem because he believed standing was social and racial injustice and players today have followed his actions. After a statement from President Trump on Sunday, September 24th, there has been nothing but more chaos and protests throughout our Nation s professional football teams. All American citizens should know and understand that protesting is perfectly acceptable but protesting and disrespecting something that is completely irrelevant is not, there is nothing anyone can do about who the elected President is and you can t take everything Donald Trump says seriously, but regardless of the situation, it is never acceptable Kneel during our National Anthem. • 32. Candles And Religious Beliefs Candles are a popular gift item in department stores today, consumers purchase them in large part for their scent and appearance. Historically, candles have been used for light, for providing heat, for keeping time and for religious ceremonies and celebrations. We seldom use them for lighting today unless it s for ambiance and I doubt anyone would still know how to tell time with a candle. Candlesare still a symbolic feature at ceremonies such as baptisms, weddings and even birthday parties and they are still a prominent feature in religious ceremonies and holidays. In The History of Candles from Prehistoric Times until Now Mary Deane states that the earliest form of candles started were actually torches that were used to transport fire. Based on evidence found in 2008 at the Gesher Benot Ya aqov site in northern Israel (Dean) that places the first candles around 790,000 years old. From Biblical times through the Industrial Revolution candles have been used for both necessity and novelty. Early candles are not representative of the container or caper candles purchased in store today. Ancient Egyptians used rushlights, a primitive candle form made without a wick. Between AD 40 79, Roman historian Pliny described the making of rushlights as a rush dip . These cup shaped objects were most likely made from rocks that had deeper depressions in them and were prepared by dipping tall grasses or rushes in melted tallow, a fat rendered from meat. From the baby boy in blue with trucks and action figures to the baby girl in pink with dolls and princesses, these roles and generalizations affect children s personalities while they are still developing. Those guiltiest of stereotyping in children s media are Disney, Nintendo and other video game companies, and reality television. These influences are expansive, and they reach past elementary age kids to teenagers. Stereotypes negatively impact children of all ages through these forms of media, and parents need to be aware of this. Liechty also says that characters such as Snow White and Cinderella are admirable for remaining nice, despite bad people trying to hurt them. Again, she has a point: princesses do teach girls to treat others with respect, but their respect would take them further if it was reciprocated. Liechty s final arguments involve men: what is wrong with not being happy without a man, and why is it bad that boys are taught to be gallant and courteous? The answers to both are simple. Firstly, there is a difference between loving a person enough that their loss would ruin one s life, and losing one s value because there is no longer male attention to validate it. Secondly, the example princes set for boys are good ones, but with gender roles declaring princess movies to be a girly thing, most boys may not be exposed to these positive role ... Examining Effectiveness of Treatment Strategies Used With Survivors of Rape Therapy for survivors of rape is often difficult to obtain. The lack of availability of counselors who specialize in specific trauma treatments, like prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy, as well as lack of insurance and location, are hardships for treatment seeking individuals. Therefore, it is important to pinpoint the most effective treatments for those who have suffered the trauma of rape. The purpose of this research is to outline the most effective, lasting, and current treatments used to treat female survivors of sexual assault. Modern treatments for rape trauma syndrome include cognitive, behavioral, and exposure components. The specific protocols of cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure have both been demonstrated to be effective in treating posttraumatic stress disorder and common comorbid disorders, like depression, anxiety, guilt, and anger (Resick, Williams, Suvak, Monson, Gradus, 2012, p. 202). Existential therapy, person centered counseling, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing are underlying philosophies and techniques investigated.
