The Legal Foundations Of The State Case
1. Introduction In Jurisdictional Immunities of the State case (Germany v. Italy); the main question
issue is whether Germany is entitled to state immunity cover actions which violate serious crimes
before the Italian courts. The legal foundations of the Italy s arguments are related to Jus cogens which
always prevail over other rules of international law. However, the International Court of Justice (ICJ)
states that Italy violated German immunity and the decisions of its courts against Germany were null.
This essay, firstly, examines the court s decision as well as its reasoning. Next, the legal foundations of
Italy s arguments in support of jus cogens will be explained. Third section will analyses challenges as

For example, the Nations Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of States and Their Property ,
European Convention on State Immunity and State Immunity Act 1978. The core principle of
immunity can reflect the state equality concept. According to customary law and Article 1 of the
Nations Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of States and Their Property: The present
Convention applies to the immunity of a State and its property from the jurisdiction of the courts of
another State. This can be interpreted that states will be protected from being held responsibility
before another foreign municipal court. It, moreover, implies that this principle supports diplomatic
means such as negotiation rather than judicial means. Immunity principle has changed from an
absolute to restrictive approach. At the beginning, state sovereignty was supreme, so absolute
immunity could be applied. When states began to have commercial interests, immunity was granted
only for jure imperii gorvenment acts, but excluded jure gestionis commercial activity. Today
restrictive immunity is generally accepted. The United Nations Convention on Jurisdictional
Immunities of States and Their Property also guarantees that state immunity is limited in Part III,
Proceeding in which a state cannot be invoked. For example, with commercial

Analysis Of Thank You For Smoking
The film Thank you for Smoking was produced in 2005 by TYFS Productions LLC and is a satirical
comedy that follows the machinations of Big Tobacco s chief spokesman, Nick Naylor, who spins on
behalf of cigarettes while trying to remain a role model for his twelve year old son. This film
compares to a few of the readings that we have been studying in this class recently. Seeing the plot of
the film in relation to the court case studies has helped me fully grasp the goings on of the court of
law. Nick Naylor is the Vice President of the Academy of Tobacco Studies works under BR who is a
type of boss that doesn t care how a task gets done but just that it is completed while making Big
Tobacco look good. Naylor is talented in speaking and spins argument to defend the cigarette industry
in the most difficult situations. For example, he goes to speak in front of his sons class for career day
and gets confronted by a student (who has clearly been taught by her parents that cigarettes are the
equivalent of poison) which states My Mommy says smoking kills.....Naylor: Oh, is your Mommy a
doctor?..... No.....Naylor: A scientific researcher of some kind?.... No......Naylor: Well, then she s
hardly a credible expert, is she? In this instance Naylor makes his business appear to be above doctors,
scientific research, and all credible experts while avoiding the original statement. This is Nick Naylor
s job. Nick Naylor is a lobbyist. His best friends are Polly Bailey that works in the

Maslow s Theory Of Motivation
NEED THEORIES Need theories describes motivation as the willingness to exert high levels of effort
toward organisational goals, conditioned by the effort s ability to satisfy some individual need In this
context, a need is an internal state that cause a specific result to look pleasant. An individual s drives
are stimulated when tension is created due to an unsatisfied need. A search behaviour is generated to
locate specific goals, if this is obtained, the need will be satisfied and the tension will be reduced.
Needs could be said to physiological or psychological deficiencies that stimulate behaviour. This
differ with time and place, as environmental factors can influence it and make strong or weak. Maslow

If employers fail to do this, this could lead to a theoretically increase in the frustration of employees
and performance levels will reduce, job satisfaction level could also reduce and withdrawal from the
organisation could increase. For example, relating job insecurity to this theory, if an employee feels
any threat of layoff, this can hinder the individual from their higher growth needs. This could lead
them to push harder in acquiring job security but neglecting to fulfil their other needs. If at the end,
job security isn t attained, an employee might try to fulfil their needs somewhere else or burn out.
Alderfer s ERG model The theory of Clayton P. Alderfer s ERG from 1969 compresses Maslow s five
human needs in three division: Existence Needs: this involves all material and physiological
aspiration. (e.g house, food, water, air, safety, physical affection and love). This is similar to Maslow s
first two levels. Relatedness Needs: to be accepted, identified and feel safe with a group and family.
This correlate with the third and fourth levels of Maslow s hierarchy. Growth Needs: self actualisation
and self esteem; this compels an individual to make ingenious and productive change to
himself/herself and the surrounding. This is similar to that of Maslow s fourth and fifth levels.
Relationships between the concepts There are three relationships among the

Social Work Philosophy
Social Work s core philosophy and values are centered around social justice and social well being.
Oppression, injustice, discrimination, and violence are antithetical to the social work profession.
Social Work believes in strength based approaches and the person in environment perspective to cater
the needs and welfare of individuals, families, groups, communities, and society at large. Generally,
the target populations for social work are vulnerable, marginalized, and oppressed people; however,
social workers provide services to people with a wide range of problems, such as poverty, addiction,
mental illness, etc. to empower them to meet their own needs. Historically, the social work profession
started its operation by providing neighborhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several decades after the Civil Right Acts of 1964 were passed, we still hear the slogans of Black lives
matter and All lives matter. According to the NASW Code of Ethics (1996), social workers should be
sensitive to cultural and ethnic diversity and strive to end discrimination, oppression, poverty, and
other forms of social injustice (p. 3). Social workers and the profession as a whole should address
problems related to minority groups to make our society equitable, just, and responsive to social
justice. As a measure of this ethical standard, the content of the major journal of NASW (National
Association of Social Work), Social Work, should reflect studies conducted by researchers on minority
groups and their problems, which this study intends to analyze. Additionally, Council on Social Work
Education has required social work schools to maintain cultural diversity in students enrollment,
hiring of faculty, and the development of curricula (Trolander, 1997), but how well this diversity is
reflected in research studies is a matter of exploration, which this study has tried to address by doing

Sex Trafficking In Texas
One of the growing issues in our society is sex trafficking. Sex Trafficking is a hidden crime because
victims rarely come forward to seek help due to language barriers, fear of the traffickers, and they do
not know where or who to turn too. These young girls are lured into prostitution by force, fraud, or
promises of a better life. Sex Trafficking is a serious crime that often goes overlooked because people
are uncomfortable with the issue, and are not sure how to fight it. This issue can be found even at our
own back door. The same interstate many Lamar Orange students use is the same one sex traffickers
use to transport their victims. One in every five victims of human trafficking in the U.S. travels
through Texas along Interstate ten. (Texas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sex traffickers use violence, threats, lies, debt bondage, and other forms of coercion to compel adults
and children to engage in commercial sex acts against their will. (Polaris Project) In the area of
organized crime, sex trafficking is one of the fastest growing businesses. The Texas Department of
Public Safety issued statistics that approximately 100,000 children are estimated to be in the sex trade
in the united states each year. Texas had the second highest incoming trafficking tips in 2013. These
incoming tips totaled 2,236 calls, emails, and tip forms. As of June 2015 there has been 833 calls and
214 cases reported. These numbers are expected to double before the end of the year. Houston is
known to be one of the largest cities for sex trafficking. This makes interstate 10, which runs through
Houston, one of the main routes for sex traffickers. Due to interstate 10 passing straight through the
golden triangle, Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange have seen a rise in sex trafficking victims. (8 12)
It is important to note that the actual number of sex trafficked individuals is higher than what has been
reported due to the secret nature of the crime. Many victims never come forward because of fear, age,
and a lack of realization that they are being used as sex

Canadian Identity Essay
So many different important facts have contributed to our Canadian identity. But, in my Paragraph I m
going to show some of the most important things that happened like the SS.St Louis, the Underground
railray, Harriet Tubman, and Chinese immigrants.First,I think that the SS. St Louis contributes to our
Canadian identity because it taught Canada to be welcoming and including. Before when Canada didn
t let people from the SS.ST louis come into Canada, they realized that they were wrong, so know in
our day we are more welcome and let immigrants move to Canada. If I was an immigrant and I needed
somewhere to live I would be so thankful that Canada is welcoming know and it s because of that.

Harriet showed Canada and the whole world that girls can do everything that boys can do and showed
Canada to give people a chance. Canada was the first country to stop slavery, I think it s mostly
because of Harriet. I think It s mostly because of her because it showed how hard they worked to be
free and maybe before they thought of them as items, but when they saw them suffer and how Harriet
worked and put others in front of her and she showed that Canada that slaves are not items they are
human beings. Also,I think that the underground railway contributed to Canada s identity because it
showed that slaves aren t an object and can find a way to escape how bad their lives were. The
underground railway also showed Canada to stop abusing people just because they don t look the
same and that you should try and help them to stop slavery around the world. It also showed that
slaves were people too and wanted to live free and not to be whipped and they should live in their own
houses and have their own properties and Canada was the first country to stop

during the Victorian time period. The three characteristics it portrays are good and evil, not to judge
someone before you know them and man vs. himself
3) Man Vs. Himself
There are clear clashes between characters; in any case, the focal clash is amongst man and his
feelings of trepidation. Dracula really speaks to malice; he is a forcing character who is startling in
both appearance and in his deeds. Alternate characters who interact with him understand how
malevolent and startling he is. Everybody who interacts with him is threatened and terrified by him. ...

Underneath a finish of blue blooded appeal, the number has a dull and wickedness soul. He can expect
the type of a creature, control the climate, and he is more grounded than twenty men. His forces are
constrained, notwithstanding for example, he can t enter a casualty s home unless welcomed, can t
cross water unless conveyed, and is rendered feeble by sunshine.
6) Act I Dracula touches base in England and begins feeding on Lucy Westenra which makes her turn.
Act II Dr. Seward and Van Helsing give her blood transfusions, however she transforms into a
vampire at any rate. They execute her and begin laying arrangements to murder Dracula also.
Act III Dracula assaults Mina Harker. Things are looking urgent. The novel wraps up with Dr. Seward,
Van Helsing, and team seeking after Dracula to the doors of Castle Dracula, where they at long last
murder him.
7) The novel mostly is narrated in First Person but with particularly multiple characters, this effected
the tone by switching characters, it actually makes the readers essentially become the characters, or so
they particularly thought.
8) The climax in the story definitely is when Mina watches his eyes load with triumph, which kind of
is fairly significant. Before he can completely rise, Harker and Morris for the most part cut him,
however Morris soon basically kicks the bucket of wounds he particularly has endured, demonstrating
how the climax in the story kind of is when Mina watches his eyes load with triumph,

Outline For Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
(Hook/Lead) When humans are born, they all have a savage side to them, which can be held in and
tamed, or let out under certain circumstances. This is what author William Golding claims in his award
winning novel, Lord of the Flies. (GDT) An English plane full of schoolboys crash lands into an island
in the Pacific ocean. With all adults dead and nobody on the island, the boys elect a leader named
Ralph, and try to create their own society and civilization. Jack, one of the other schoolboys does not
follow the rules put in place by hunting and letting loose. Over time, Jack becomes a savage with no
sense of obedience. While Ralph wants to get off the island, Jack s evil ways of killing pigs and
uncivilized nature get to the rest of the boys on the island as more and more of them want to live like
Jack and focus more on meat and savagery rather than being rescued. (Thesis) The boys value Jack s
leadership more than Ralph s because Jack offers hunting and fun while Ralph offers the boys rescue
and order. (T) Jack rules the boys with meat, freedom, and fear, which the boys gravitate towards. (E)
Jack likes to taunt the boys with killing and hunting, which makes him look like a bully, especially
when [Jack] giggled and flicked them while the boys laughed at his reeking palms. Then Jack grabbed

Fifth Business by Robertson Davies
Boy Staunton, the antagonist in the novel Fifth Business by Robertson Davies, is a very successful
business man. Boy Staunton is motivated by self distraction in life which he believes will rid himself
of remorseful feelings. Although it may appear that he is living the dream, the guilt from traumatizing
childhood events slowly torture and eventually destroy him. Boy s decision to commit suicide is
greatly influenced by Mary Dempster, Leola Cruikshank and Dunstan Ramsay because they are
constant reminders of his mistakes and failures. At the age of ten, Boy Staunton and his best friend
Dunstan Ramsay, began to fight after a day of sledding. Boy accidentally hit a pregnant woman,
named Mary Dempster, when Dunstan dodged his snowball and caused the woman to go into
premature labour with her son, Paul. Dunny dealt with the guilt by supporting Mrs. Dempster whereas
Boy ignored the whole situation completely. When Dunny brought up the snowball incident years later
to Boy and Paul, Boy realizes that he is responsible and now has to deal with this guilt. When Paul
said, You have no recollection of Mrs. Dempster? Boy responded with, None at all. Why should I?
(Davies, 267) this quotation truly emphasizes how dismissive Boy is about the incident. Boy is
motivated by self distraction so he does not let his faults linger and get in the way of his success. As a
child, his parents contributed to his success by building up his confidence so events like this would not

Psychoanalysis And Psychoanalysis
On Humanism and Psychoanalysis
The following essay is an interpretive analysis of Psychoanalysis and Humanism as two influential
schools of thought in Psychology. In this essay, the main assumptions of each school of thought will
be highlighted, starting with Psychoanalysis followed by Humanism. Furthermore there will be a
comparative analysis of both schools of thoughts based on both their strength and weaknesses, in
attempt to find where the two complement each other and more over to see where the two schools of
thought come into dispute with one another particularly on the basis of Humanism being reaction to

As an antithesis to psychoanalysis, Humanism also purports that humans are free agents that are
capable of self actualizing. However, psychoanalysis provides an interesting basis to understanding
how humans interact with the reality around them especially in attaching symbols to dreams, ignoring
the fact of sexual urges. The problem is that Freud presents humans as incapable of being autonomous
or interacting with the environment in order to have certain metal illnesses Freud trivializes anxiety.
The negative aspect of humanism, which can be linked to psychoanalysis, is that the focus is primarily
on the individual and not the community that filters in more factors that contribute to the personality,
illness or well being of the individual.
The main focus of psychoanalysis is viewing the development and behaviour of a human being as
processes that are guided by unconscious conflict that threatens to come to the surface manifest a

other hand emphasizes self actualization, and views humans as inherently good, individual agents who
are responsible for their own well being. Humanism is however, highly individualistic. Both schools

Proposal for Field Investigation:
Assessment of Permits for water Extraction Establishment of Managed Aquifer recover (MAR)
System
1. Introduction 2.1. Managed Aquifer Recovery Systems
As reported by the South Australian local government of Charles Sturt (2012), Aquifer Storage and
Recovery (ASR) or Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) is essentially the deliberate storage of surface
water (i.e. in the form of stormwater, treated effluent etc) within aquifers. This process is used where
water is pumped into aquifers for future usage. Furthermore, MAR systems avoid the need for
expensive above ground water tanks, or reservoirs which are subject to significant water evaporation
(Charles Sturt, 2012).
As reported by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also proposed to locate an MAR 2km from the coast roughly in the middle of the study area. This
MAR will inject tertiary treated sewage water into all three aquifers to prevent salinity intrusion that is
occurring in that vicinity.
As discussed above, we have an initial water balance from a previous study of the Study Area, and we
have some new parameters to enter into our assessment, namely the proposal to extract 2 ML/d from
the reservoir, and 5 ML/d from the river.
We must also note that the proposed MAR does not specify how much water would be injected, and
the proposed permits assessed below do not stipulate the quality of water required. If the permits
below require high quality water, (i.e. better than tertiary treated effluent), the following assessment
may be inaccurate.
3.4. Water Balance Reservoir
The initial water balance suggests that the water balance for the reservoir (i.e. the net change in water
in storage) was 10450 ML / Year, and one of the proposed industrial plants is seeking a permit to
extract 1825 ML / Year from the reservoir.
We can see that the figures above are yield a decrease in the net change in water volume in storage in
the reservoir, however there is still a significant amount of water in the reservoir throughout the year

Why was the civil war so inspiring to many people in the U.S.? The Texans became a major part in

states rights, preserving/protecting slavery, and their love for Texas. First, the Texans fought for states
rights. This is a Union of equal states, and no state can force another state to remain in it or withdraw
from it. (Doc. C). No state upon its own mere motion, can lawfully get out of the union. (Doc. C). The
Texans fought to deliver equal power and rights to the states among the union. Also, the Texans fought

It also shows that the public receive a view the court aspects of the sentencing, where the offender
may be perceived to have received a lenient sentence when convicted. This leads to the public not
knowing all the facts of the case and perceiving that criminals are getting off lightly.
The effect on the public is that if they are victims, there may be a reluctance to report matters to the
police in the first instance. This opens up a whole issue of problems for police, let alone differing type
of victims within society, or vulnerable people.
For vulnerable people within society, there are risks that their perceptions of crime within the
community will be affected by what they see in the media. They only see what is sensationally
reported and not be able to rationalise police statistics when they are released. The overall effects are
that vulnerable people that are victims will continue to not to feel safe within their community, as they
are only exposed to one view. This causes them to feel less likely to report crimes to police.

Robert Reich Capitalism Vs Capitalism
Capitalism? More like CRAPitalism Robert Reich begins his book by asking the question of if the
reader remembers a time when the income of a single schoolteacher or baker or salesman or mechanic
was enough to buy a home, have two cars, and raise a family, and as college students reading this
book, the answer is a resounding no. The image of the American Dream, where all people can prosper
regardless of their situation, is simply not possible in the United States today. The economic system
where the beloved free market reigns, has evolved into a system that benefits the wealthy, and doesn t
think twice about those who have little economic power. Rhetoric in the United States regarding
economic policy is based around the ideal level of involvement by the government, but this discourse
simply distracts those who are not benefitting from capitalism from the fact that the system does not
benefit them. In theory, a democratic government should pass laws that benefit the largest amount of
its citizens possible, yet the United States government has continued to pass laws that benefit the
select few at the very top. The free market, has become accepted as the norm and so have the systemic
inequalities that accompany it. The system is not questioned, simply, because those in power have
used their power in order to cement the system into place. Wealth disparity is seen as natural because
the dollar amount on your paycheck correlates to your worth in the free market. To

Finding Truth In Bernard Goldberg s Bias
There are so many conflicts in life and when people go to find the truth, the media is the first to be
looked at. People like to think that there is correct information from the media but in reality there isn t.
There was a book written by Bernard Goldberg called Bias where a CBS insider exposes how the
media distorts the news. This books lectures about how news networks need to get a reality check
since there is bias fed to the media. This happens when there are a large group of people who think
alike that use group thinking. These groups usually get filtered news that are not all so true. The news
is supposed to be where people get facts about what activities or events going on in the world.
Although stories can be changed when too many like minded people make the decisions on what an
audience or reader views. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also bias coming from the viewers of the new from the media. This was explained by Bernie
Goldberg, the writer of the book Bias in an interview when he stated that people only like to watch the
news based on their beliefs and only stick to what side to watch liberals watch liberal news and
conservatives watch conservative news. This shows that groups of people who watch the news want to
know what the people want to know. It is the reason why liberals watch liberal shows and
conservatives watch conservative shows. Back then the news didn t really give an option to views, it
was all straightforward. Nowadays people have more choices of what news programs people want to
see. Although it s too bad that people today don t share the same input. If a news network post
something that people want to hear then everyones loves it but once the news says straight facts, the
people tend to show hate to the news

Macbeth And Greed
Greed s Manifestation and Destruction of Characters within British Literature The concept of greed
shows itself as the root of the many immoral acts committed in by various roles. These acts in which
was caused by greed, as the Pardoner, from The Canterbury Tales, defines greed s purpose. This
includes how greed pulls them to corruption such for the characters from The Importance of Being
Earnest. Moreover, Judas s betrayal and Macbeth s collapse demonstrate what greed can produce as a
result: destruction and degeneration. Although the characters differ, their obsessions with their

Greed concerns not with wealth only, but also people s obsession with it. For example, the pardoner
acts as if he would sin for it: I mean to have money, wool, and cheese and wheat [...] given me by the
poorest lad (244). In this quote, the pardoner confesses that in order for him to be wealthy and fed, he
would even seize it from one who has the least Chaucer also portrays his egotistical obsession with
wealth, since he would even give up his conscience. Chaucer s works not only explains the greed s
effect but also in the bible. Judas, one of the twelve apostles had asked what he would get for
delivering him to the priests. So the priests paid him thirty pieces of silver And from that time he
sought opportunity to betray him (Mathews26: 15 16). In this scene, Judas received money for the
prize of Jesus; and then he insensitively invests in betraying Jesus for the greed of wealth. Although he
had other reasons to dislike Jesus, the fact that the silver pieces had made him forsake Jesus, it proves
his guilt for having the greed for wealth. This forced both the Pardoner and Judas to lose empathy for
people, as they only care for themselves and materials. It also drives them into addiction and a
destruction of one s mental health, as Judas eventually hangs himself. Furthermore, greed is a force

Zaxbys: Better Than Chick fil A
Ana Woodsides
Persuasive Speech
If you are from the south, you have probably heard of the fast food chain Zaxby s. With more than 660
locations[bandwagon, logos], the company is worth billions, all made possible by two young
entrepreneurs, Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley. The two have been best friends since fifth grade,
where they decided that there was a need for better chicken. Later, McLeroy sold his drum set giving
up his rockstar career to start the chicken joint which now boasts a annual revenue of about 1.7 billion.
[anecdote, pathos]
Chick fil a, the fast food restaurant commonly compared to Zaxbys, is very biased when it comes to
controversial issues such as gay rights.[creating a problem ethos] For one, they have supported many
anti gay organizations that are proven to be harmful to people. As for treatment these organizations
use, it has been said that (the) damage they inflict on individuals can be deep and lasting (Condon,
NBC News). One individual, Samuel Brinton, described the methods used in conversion therapy as
mental torture. Even with two years of therapy, he is still not cured and now needs constant mental
support as he often struggles with severe depression. Chick fil A continues to support these conversion
organizations even though the American Psychological Association (APA), released a study in 2008
that stated Homosexuality is not a mental disorder, and thus is not something that needs to or can be

Public Transportation And Its Effects On The United States
The early morning drizzle was constant, threatening to become actual rain. Della stood on the corner,
her blonde hair gradually becoming heavy with droplets, guaranteeing a day of bad frizz. She d been
praying for rain for months, despairing over the ravages of the extended drought in Northern
California, worrying about what it meant for the future, and yet she felt irritated that the rain had
chosen to come today, the day she had to take public transportation.
She had never liked public transportation; it was too... public. It presented too much opportunity for
unpredictability, requiring her to share personal space with strangers. This was a challenge for Della,
who could be fairly described as either profoundly introverted, or just plain antisocial, depending on
who was doing the describing. When she was a kid, the school bus her first foray into public
transportation had been a social mine field, a place to keep her head down and her mouth shut, lest she
become a target for the ubiquitous bullies looming in the back. If possible, she d sit right behind the
driver, engage him or her in conversation. The proximity to an adult and the appearance of
relationship, however flimsy, seemed to provide some kind of amnesty, a temporary buffer until she
could get off the bus and make a beeline for the classroom and her teacher s protection. Later, when
she went to college in San Francisco, she d daily suffered through crowded bus and train rides to and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Polyepoxide
Epoxy or polyepoxide is a cross linking thermosetting polymer that cures (polymerizes and cross
links) when mixed with a hardener or curing agent. Most common epoxy resins are formed by the
polymerization between epichlorohydrin and bisphenol A. Dr. S.O. Greenlee of United States and Dr.
Pierre Castan of Switzerland were in the year 1936, first jointly synthesized bisphenol A based epoxy
resins.
Epoxy resin is most widely used as a matrix for advanced structural composites due to their superior
thermal, electrical and mechanical properties; chemical resistance and dimensional stability. Epoxy is
also used as surface coatings and most widely used as industrial finishes and provides flexibility,
superior adhesion and corrosion resistance when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

an aromatic hardener (Araldite HY 932). Weight percentages ranging from 0.0225 to 0.15 wt% of the
pristine CVD grown [50] MWCNTs (diameter 5 10 nm, length a few microns) were first dispersed in
ethanol in an ultrasonic bath at room temperature for 1 h. The solution was then mixed with the resin
and stirred for 1 h at 2000 rpm at 80°C. Ethanol was evaporated in a vacuum oven at 80°C for 1 h, and
the mixtures were stirred again for 1 h at 2000 rpm. After adding the hardener, the mixtures were
stirred at 2000 rpm for 15 min. The resulting epoxy nanocomposite was hardened in a vacuum oven at
140°C for 8 h. Composite sample containing 0.025% of CNTs in the epoxy resin show a remarkable
improvement in the dispersion of CNTs in the epoxy resin due to ultrasound exposure. At these lower

A Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
In the world of sex, drugs, and baby cloning you are going to be in many situations where you feel
like the world we live in should be different. In the story Brave New World, they had sex with
multiple partners along with a very bad use of drugs.
It is weird that Aldous Huxley wrote this book in 1931 about the world he was living in during that
time and how it is similar to the world we live in today. Nowadays, drugs are still being used and
people are still engaging in sexual encounters with multiple partners. Things are no different than they
use to be. People still to this day are using drugs and committing adultery as if there aren t any
diseases out there. In the story they introduced a drug named Soma. This particular drug was the
narcotic they used to escape the world they lived in.
Aldous Huxley did not like being in London because he felt the people there were basically all the
same. Aldous Huxley was characterized by people as being very weird to people because he didn t like
to do the things they did. He became so weird to people that the press and news reporters became
interested in talking to him in order to find out more about him. I have a connection with this
particular story because the world I m living in today is based on the same things he described.
Sex is the main thing teenagers care about nowadays. In my generation kids look at you funny or think
you are weird if you do not have sex or have sex as often as they do. It seems as if people

Developing And Implement Green Technology
With the high initial costs, it is easy to see why the United States is hesitant to develop and implement
green technology. There are also several other worries including unforeseeable collapses; Eventually
all good bubbles burst. Though there is still a lot to accomplish with green technology it is still
considered a fast growing and aggressive market. One of the biggest issues that green companies face
is finding enough customers to support the costly infrastructure that they must build first. This type of
issue is considered strange because arguably, support for renewable energy has never been better. An
example of this would be SunEdison, a renewable energy company that was considered unstoppable
when their market capitalization reached nearly $10 billion. The company quickly went supernova and
shares dropped from $32 dollars to $0.32 cents. Eventually, SunEdison filed for bankruptcy. There
were several other companies such as Abengoa that simply turned focus away from renewable energy
and started focusing on personal care and food products. There are other companies that are
succeeding though. First Solar, unlike SunEdison, adopted a slower growth strategy instead of trying
to grow and spread too quickly. First Solar is considered to be a rarity, making $546 million on $3.6
billion in revenue becoming a profitable business (Julie Creswell, New York Times). However,
scientific uncertainty is no excuse for inaction on an environmental problem, as stated by a

The Progression Of Succession Through Facilitation And...
Abstract To collect data on the primary succession as new sand dunes form from the waters of Lake
Michigan. To examine hypotheses relating to the progression of succession through facilitation and
other species interactions and to examine how biotic and abiotic rigor change through time as
succession proceeds. To further examine these concepts, we have gathered and conducted five tests.
Our first experiment dealt with soil development, to show how soil changes and developments have
advanced throughout the dunes. A second experiment has been taken to show the variations in
diversity among the five dunes. The third was to examine percent coverage amongst stages to see how
the species are influenced by their environment. A fourth to examine the proportions of grasses and
forbs to understand the properties of grasses on late succession. Last, we examined how counts of
focal species change with dune age among herbaceous species and woody species.
Results show that organic material increased among different stages of succession. When measuring
diversity, by the Simpson diversity index, D value in which it accounted for individual s richness and
abundance (evenness). With this, the results have shown an increase in diversity as each dune goes
further back in age. With percent coverage, results conclude and show that there is an irregular percent
coverage when we have moved along the dunes. Outcomes for the fourth test have indicated a
decrease in grasses to forbs as the dunes

History Of The American Space Program
Wallop s Island, Cape Canaveral, and the History of the American Space Program America s space
program is undoubtedly one of its greatest modern achievements. Few people cannot recall the famous
quote That s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind, or do not know where it came from.
The story leading up to the moment a man walked on the moon, as well as everything that came after,
is just as interesting and important as the moment itself. The significance of the history of America s
aeronautics programs cannot possibly be overestimated, and their story is one that is incredibly
important to the modern world of today. It would not be the nation that it is, with the technology it
possesses, without its crucial involvement in the space race . If the technology that sent a man to the
moon did not exist, our daily lives would be impacted and basic tools would be missing. Beginning
with America s first official aeronautics organization, the National Advisory Committee for
Aeronautics (or NACA) and continuing through to the present day and the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration (or NASA), the story of America s aerospace programs is interesting and
extremely important. It is a story that spans many years and giant leaps in technology, and involves
important locations like Wallops Flight Facility and Kennedy Space Center. From the early beginnings

The Symbols Of The Jewish Passover
Passover Passover, aka Pesach, is the most spoken about Jewish Holy day. Eighty percent of Jews, to
this day, attend a Seder, according to the 1990 National Jewish Population Survey. Passover is closely
observed by the Jewish people and is one of the most sacred religious holidays because it serves as a
commemoration of the Jews being freed by God from slavery in ancient Egypt and their freedom as a
nation with the help of Moses. One of the most symbolic pieces of Passover is the roasted lamb, which
serves a memorial to the paschal lamb sacrifice made the night when the ancient Hebrews fled Egypt.
In the Bible, texts such as Leviticus, Exodus, Luke, Mathew, Mark, and 1 Corinthians mention
passover and the key elements to it. These sacred texts also show what role Jesus played in the
Passover. The story/history of Passover goes like this; God appeared to Moses in the form of a burning
bush and said I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their
cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; Exodus 3:7 10. Therefore, Moses had the
word of the Lord to free the Jews from slavery and take them to the promise land, Canaan. In doing
so, the Pharaoh disagreed to letting them free so God brought upon 10 plagues to the Pharaoh and his
land. For the first 9 plagues, after each one, Pharaoh promised to obey Moses s command and let the
Jews free. But Pharaoh did not keep his word. The 10th plague is the plague that forces

Constitution And The Federal System
A constitution is a legal document that states what a government is allowed to do and how the
government can do it. It also defines government structures proposing different bodies and agencies an
example being the three branches (legislature, executive, judiciary). The constitution is an important
document specifically to countries with federal systems. A federal system is one where the states get
their authority from the people instead of relying on national government. (Geer et al. 71).
Constitutions are specifically important to countries with federal systems because they prevent
national governments from having too much power, one of the main reasons a federal system exists. A

The United Methodist Church’s Book of Discipline Essay
The United Methodist Church s Book of Discipline states, Wesley believed that the living core of the
Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illuminated by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and
confirmed by reason . This statement outlines the concept of the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. Interestingly,
John Wesley never actually used the term quadrilateral and the American Methodist scholar, Albert C.
Outler, who later stated that he regretted doing so as it has been misconstrued, named it. As for John
Wesley, he was an 18th century British Evangelist who is credited for founding the Methodist
Christian movement. The Wesleyan Quadrilateral provides the format for an organized study of

It is imperative that we as humans study scripture reasonably and not view it in an irrational manner.
Tradition Tradition is the next aspect of the Quadrilateral. Wesley recognized that traditions that the
biblical followers of God and Christ developed are of extreme importance and we should embrace,
emulate and teach them to each of our generations. Traditions allow us to remember where we came
from and the heritages that were developed and shaped us. Traditions like baptism and communion are
examples of actionable traditions that keep us aware and focused on Christ and that He is alive in our
hearts and minds. He also realized that man inspired traditions make the Word of God ineffectual and
we should not fall prey to recognizing them as having merit. Experience Experience is the remaining
and probably most powerful aspect of the Quadrilateral. Wesley believed that our personal experience
with God leads us through life. It confirms God s presence in our lives and the world through both
practical experiences and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our life. It is to be noted that this is not just
any experience that a person has, but the Christian experience that confirms Christ is now abiding in
our lives. It is the experience of the Holy Spirit and proof of the existence of God that we are His
children. Experience is also

Why Did Hitler Become Chancellor Of Germany Essay
The first immediate political consequences of Hitler to becoming Chancellor of Germany was the
Reichstag fire, on the 27th of February, 1933. The reichstag building was the main meeting place for
the government of Germany. Hitler blamed the fire on a young communist, Marinus van der Lubbe,
who was found inside the building, and later used this as a reason to arrest 3000 communists and
social democrats. Because of the fire, all political meetings got moved to the Berlin Opera House,
where Hitler passed the act that was commonly referred to as the Enabling law . The social democrats
were against it, but was still able to pass the act, 441 votes to 94. This law enabled Hitler to make any

caused by Hitler becoming Chancellor of Germany because all decisions that were made by Hitler in

There were many economic consequences of Hitler to becoming Chancellor of Germany. The primary
concern of the Nazis involving the economy was the high percentage of unemployment in Germany.
The total of unemployed people was 5.7 million in January 1933, and the Nazis had no plan

African Slaves In The Novel Saltwater Slavery By Smallwood
The Natchez District where a tribe of Indians were housed as slaves was the first Mississippi region
where plantations were established. There African slaves were introduced into the Natchez plantation
system in the early 1700s by the French colonists where the first major profitable crop that thrived
from African slave labor in Natchez was tobacco products. The slaves shipped here came with a
militant spirit after being harbored amongst the torturous vessels. Their aggression, at first took the
form of resistance on slave ships as many deckhands and captive slaves experienced the unforgiving
waters, this is again explained in the novel Saltwater Slavery written by Smallwood. One of the
earliest recorded incidents of a slave resistance was the Natchez Indian Revolt of 1729 against the
French colonists. The African arrival in Natchez did not quell this militancy. Instead it caused the
Natchez to increase their aggression. However, the French quickly recognized the preceding contact
and interaction between the slaves and the Natchez Indians and as a counter they, (the French)
eventually extended their cruelty to the Indians. The Natchez Indians became aware that the French
began to whip young Indian boys just as they did their African slaves, along with the French
commander at Fort Rosalie taking the Natchez land, encouraged the Natchez nobles to act in
retaliation. To reflect the cruelty of the French, Natchez Indians recruited several slaves, promising

money is valueless when you die. Either you go to Heaven or Hell in his beliefs, and money is useless

Wilfred Owen asks where are the ...passing bells for these who die as cattle? The author of Anthem for
Doomed Youth leads his reader through his personal struggle and frustration of war. Owen has an
abrasive approach when describing the death all around him and clearly expresses his anger with the
hasty orisons for the dead. He speaks directly of battlefront in the first octet and then includes the
home front in the second half of his sonnet. Owen s purpose is not a commemoration of fallen
soldiers. Rather, he divulges the disgust and disappointment of war. Like McCrae, Wilfred Owen
paints a picture of the multitude of deaths. Back at the home front, ...each slow dusk a drawing down

but rather lowering the blinds in a room where yet another dead soldier lies, as an indication to the
community and out of respect for the soldier. There is a lack of passing bells for these who die as
cattle....no prayers nor bells; Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs. Owen writes as though he
feels that there is indifference among the death of his fellow soldiers.

with CCTV, which makes us, feel apart of the story and makes us want to keep on watching. CCTV
surveillance does create tension as the audience do not know what will be happening as the CCTV
footage is basically showing live events.
In the opening of the film we as an audience are introduced to a female CCTV operator who happens

Voyeurism
Voyeurism is also used in this film. By voyeurism I mean the spying between Jackie and Clyde where

The Morality of Irish Baby Food
It is human nature to want to believe that if you have good living conditions, the everyone else must
also have good living conditions; however, if someone did not fit this ideal, then it was his or her own
fault and no one else had anything to do with it. This was a common theme centuries ago, and it still a
common theme today, though which particular characterizes makes someone privileged continues to
change over time. In Jonathan Swift s essay A Modest Proposal, Swift uses the elements of satire to
ridicule Irish oppressors, specifically the Catholics and the rich.
LITERARY ANALYSIS
One of the most commonly used elements of satire is irony, which Swift uses freely to show the
monetary and religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most significant part of this is the projector finding a useful ally in an American savage currently
residing in London, who confirms his hypothesis that young babies would make tasty and wholesome
dishes for the tables of Irish gentlemen, (Chowdhury) where Swift has included both America and
England, both locations being disliked by the Irish in varying amounts. Swift is satirizing the
Catholics and outside oppressors through his constant use of irony when speaking about the
unnecessary number of children in Ireland, especially after the prior famines.
Swift also uses hyperbole to show the differences between the rich and poor and the Catholics and
Protestants. In the first paragraph of A Modest Proposal, Swift exaggerates the way mothers are forced
to employ all their time in strolling to beg sustenance for their helpless infants (1) and suggests that
the only possible outcomes for these infants are to turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear
native country, to fight for the Pretender in Spain, or sell themselves to the Barbadoes (1). In omitting
other possibilities, Swift is using hyperbole to portray the lack of options for the poor in Ireland.
Moreover, he dehumanizes the children when he decides that of the hundred and twenty thousand
children, already computed, twenty thousand may be reserved for breed, ... which is more that we
allow to sheep,

Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Essays
Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut
The story is a satire, a parody of an ideological society divorced from common sense reality
(Townsend). As Townsend stated Kurt Vonnegut makes a satire about society in his fictional short
story Harrison Bergeron, which in their society there has been attempt of conformity through the
handicaps of the people, the similarity to an authoritarian government, and the technology, whereas
the people will eventually overcome. The Kind if government authority seen both mimics and satirizes
the way Americans came to see the enemy (the Soviet Union) during the Cold War, which was near its
height of distrust and fear in the late 1950 s and early 1960 s. As an attempt to make the economy

The handicaps are based on what the individual citizens is better at and what they are not. For
example, George one of the characters in the story, for whom is very intelligent and sharp. Because, he
s so intelligent his handicap has to be a device that has a loud distinct beep that disturbs his train of
thought every twenty minutes. George also has a bag of lead balls that weigh him down. The irony of
the so call handicaps is that the people of this nation like George will get use to their handicaps. After
a while a person will get use to the weight and learn to think faster than twenty seconds
Technology is one of the main means of communication and entertainment. Such entertainment is
television, which was invented by John Baird in 1926. In a Newton Minow speech he states that
violence as a contributor to this wasteland he lists what people see on the television and what they
take from it. In the story Harrison s mother watches her son on the television he get shot to death and
does not even remember what she saw five minutes later. After the commotion was over she says, I
could tell that one was a doozy (Vonnegut). That is what television does to a person that is
intellectually impaired.
Harrison Bergeron is satire of today s society he makes this satire applicable through the handicaps of
the people, the similarity authoritarian government, and the technology. As a result of these factors
that have been stated the

Earned Tax Credit Policy
One problem the policy faces is that even though the Earned Income Tax Credit encourages work for
some groups, it actually discourages work for others; such as families with two earners who can
decrease hours worked and still have the same amount of money due to the amount of credit. It is
becoming a challenge for low to middle income families to benefit from the policy and even harder to
gain upward social/economic mobility. According to Eamon (2009), Although we might expect that
over time the EITC would motivate more low income parents to enter the workforce and take
advantage of this program, thus further reducing child poverty, our analysis provides little support for
these expectations (pg. 922). It has left hard working families standing ... Show more content on

For this population, the Earned Income Tax Credit is far from being realized and in most cases, it is
never introduced. One of the main reasons for this is because the majority of Supplemental Security
Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) recipients have not been part of the
workforce and for the ones who do work part time due to income restrictions, miss out on the tax
credit or are disqualified for not meeting the required

For example, the Nations Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of States and Their Property , European Convention on State Immunity and State Immunity Act 1978. The core principle of immunity can reflect the state equality concept. According to customary law and Article 1 of the Nations Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of States and Their Property: The present Convention applies to the immunity of a State and its property from the jurisdiction of the courts of another State. This can be interpreted that states will be protected from being held responsibility before another foreign municipal court. It, moreover, implies that this principle supports diplomatic means such as negotiation rather than judicial means. Immunity principle has changed from an absolute to restrictive approach. At the beginning, state sovereignty was supreme, so absolute immunity could be applied. When states began to have commercial interests, immunity was granted only for jure imperii gorvenment acts, but excluded jure gestionis commercial activity. Today restrictive immunity is generally accepted. The United Nations Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of States and Their Property also guarantees that state immunity is limited in Part III, Proceeding in which a state cannot be invoked. Maslow s Theory Of Motivation NEED THEORIES Need theories describes motivation as the willingness to exert high levels of effort toward organisational goals, conditioned by the effort s ability to satisfy some individual need In this context, a need is an internal state that cause a specific result to look pleasant. An individual s drives are stimulated when tension is created due to an unsatisfied need. A search behaviour is generated to locate specific goals, if this is obtained, the need will be satisfied and the tension will be reduced. Needs could be said to physiological or psychological deficiencies that stimulate behaviour. This differ with time and place, as environmental factors can influence it and make strong or weak. If employers fail to do this, this could lead to a theoretically increase in the frustration of employees and performance levels will reduce, job satisfaction level could also reduce and withdrawal from the organisation could increase. This could lead them to push harder in acquiring job security but neglecting to fulfil their other needs. If at the end, job security isn t attained, an employee might try to fulfil their needs somewhere else or burn out. Alderfer s ERG model The theory of Clayton P. Alderfer s ERG from 1969 compresses Maslow s five human needs in three division: Existence Needs: this involves all material and physiological aspiration. With all adults dead and nobody on the island, the boys elect a leader named Ralph, and try to create their own society and civilization. The economic system where the beloved free market reigns, has evolved into a system that benefits the wealthy, and doesn t think twice about those who have little economic power. Della stood on the corner, her blonde hair gradually becoming heavy with droplets, guaranteeing a day of bad frizz. She d been praying for rain for months, despairing over the ravages of the extended drought in Northern California, worrying about what it meant for the future, and yet she felt irritated that the rain had chosen to come today, the day she had to take public transportation. She had never liked public transportation; it was too... public. It presented too much opportunity for unpredictability, requiring her to share personal space with strangers. This was a challenge for Della, who could be fairly described as either profoundly introverted, or just plain antisocial, depending on who was doing the describing. When she was a kid, the school bus her first foray into public transportation had been a social mine field, a place to keep her head down and her mouth shut, lest she become a target for the ubiquitous bullies looming in the back. If possible, she d sit right behind the driver, engage him or her in conversation. In the story Brave New World, they had sex with multiple partners along with a very bad use of drugs. It is weird that Aldous Huxley wrote this book in 1931 about the world he was living in during that time and how it is similar to the world we live in today. Nowadays, drugs are still being used and people are still engaging in sexual encounters with multiple partners. Things are no different than they use to be. People still to this day are using drugs and committing adultery as if there aren t any diseases out there. In the story they introduced a drug named Soma. This particular drug was the narcotic they used to escape the world they lived in. Aldous Huxley did not like being in London because he felt the people there were basically all the same. Aldous Huxley was characterized by people as being very weird to people because he didn t like to do the things they did. He became so weird to people that the press and news reporters became interested in talking to him in order to find out more about him. There are also several other worries including unforeseeable collapses; Eventually all good bubbles burst. Though there is still a lot to accomplish with green technology it is still considered a fast growing and aggressive market. One of the biggest issues that green companies face is finding enough customers to support the costly infrastructure that they must build first. This type of issue is considered strange because arguably, support for renewable energy has never been better. An example of this would be SunEdison, a renewable energy company that was considered unstoppable when their market capitalization reached nearly $10 billion. The company quickly went supernova and shares dropped from $32 dollars to $0.32 cents. Eventually, SunEdison filed for bankruptcy. There were several other companies such as Abengoa that simply turned focus away from renewable energy and started focusing on personal care and food products. There are other companies that are succeeding though. First Solar, unlike SunEdison, adopted a slower growth strategy instead of trying to grow and spread too quickly. First Solar is considered to be a rarity, making $546 million on $3.6 billion in revenue becoming a profitable business (Julie Creswell, New York Times). To examine hypotheses relating to the progression of succession through facilitation and other species interactions and to examine how biotic and abiotic rigor change through time as succession proceeds. To further examine these concepts, we have gathered and conducted five tests. Our first experiment dealt with soil development, to show how soil changes and developments have advanced throughout the dunes. A second experiment has been taken to show the variations in diversity among the five dunes. The third was to examine percent coverage amongst stages to see how the species are influenced by their environment. A fourth to examine the proportions of grasses and forbs to understand the properties of grasses on late succession. Last, we examined how counts of focal species change with dune age among herbaceous species and woody species. Results show that organic material increased among different stages of succession. When measuring diversity, by the Simpson diversity index, D value in which it accounted for individual s richness and abundance (evenness). With this, the results have shown an increase in diversity as each dune goes further back in age. With percent coverage, results conclude and show that there is an irregular percent coverage when we have moved along the dunes. Eighty percent of Jews, to this day, attend a Seder, according to the 1990 National Jewish Population Survey. Passover is closely observed by the Jewish people and is one of the most sacred religious holidays because it serves as a commemoration of the Jews being freed by God from slavery in ancient Egypt and their freedom as a nation with the help of Moses. One of the most symbolic pieces of Passover is the roasted lamb, which serves a memorial to the paschal lamb sacrifice made the night when the ancient Hebrews fled Egypt. In the Bible, texts such as Leviticus, Exodus, Luke, Mathew, Mark, and 1 Corinthians mention passover and the key elements to it. These sacred texts also show what role Jesus played in the Passover. The story/history of Passover goes like this; God appeared to Moses in the form of a burning bush and said I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; Exodus 3:7 10. Therefore, Moses had the word of the Lord to free the Jews from slavery and take them to the promise land, Canaan. In doing so, the Pharaoh disagreed to letting them free so God brought upon 10 plagues to the Pharaoh and his land. Traditions allow us to remember where we came from and the heritages that were developed and shaped us. Traditions like baptism and communion are examples of actionable traditions that keep us aware and focused on Christ and that He is alive in our hearts and minds. There African slaves were introduced into the Natchez plantation system in the early 1700s by the French colonists where the first major profitable crop that thrived from African slave labor in Natchez was tobacco products. The slaves shipped here came with a militant spirit after being harbored amongst the torturous vessels. Their aggression, at first took the form of resistance on slave ships as many deckhands and captive slaves experienced the unforgiving waters, this is again explained in the novel Saltwater Slavery written by Smallwood. One of the earliest recorded incidents of a slave resistance was the Natchez Indian Revolt of 1729 against the French colonists. The African arrival in Natchez did not quell this militancy. Instead it caused the Natchez to increase their aggression. However, the French quickly recognized the preceding contact and interaction between the slaves and the Natchez Indians and as a counter they, (the French) eventually extended their cruelty to the Indians. The Natchez Indians became aware that the French began to whip young Indian boys just as they did their African slaves, along with the French commander at Fort Rosalie taking the Natchez land, encouraged the Natchez nobles to act in retaliation.
