This document proposes a 60-second horror/thriller short film called "Times Ticking." It would follow a man receiving strange messages that his girlfriend has been kidnapped. He has 6 hours to find her, with each 10 seconds of the film representing an hour. The man would frantically search for clues to save his girlfriend. The proposal discusses targeting the film at a 12A audience of teens and young adults. It outlines techniques like using music, sound effects, steadycam, and a shoulder rig during filming. An evaluation plan involves blogging and screenshots to track strengths, weaknesses, and improvements. A 5-week schedule is provided for pre-production, filming, editing, post-production, and screening.

Working Title: Times Ticking
 Audience: My audience for my short film are teens and Young adults such as
college students and Uni students. Its aimed for Boys and Girls and of any social
class that can view my short film. My short film will appeal to my target audience
because after seeing the results of my survey I have all the right ideas to make it
appropriate. For my short film, I feel that a 12 or a 12A is more than suitable
because I feel like the content is going to mature and almost too complicated and
not interested for a younger audience. I know roughly what will be contained in my
short film and that there will be small amount of violence and quite a bit of threat
throughout my 60 second film. There might be some distressing scenes with a
stressing feeling. I feel like I want to make it very intense throughout ab might be
too much for kids younger than 12. But I feel like this wouldn't reach a 15 with some
simple facts that there wouldn't be loads of swearing or gory violence and no sexual
references. I think my short film will appeal to my target audience because I’m
hopefully going to make it have some jump scares and some very intense parts that
everybody loves. I also try and add in some very tummy turning nervy parts which I
hopefully can execute perfectly.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My concept for my project is a Horror/thriller and its basically about a guy who is just
minding his business and he receives some funny messages saying his girlfriend has been
kidnapped and he then realises this isn’t just a prank. The kidnapper then says you have
6hrs to find your precious girlfriend but our film will only be 60 seconds so for each 10
seconds an hour will pass. The boyfriend is left a bread crumb trail to follow so he saves
his girlfriend. On the video, you will see the girl tied up and the bad guy holds up signs and
accidently holds up his shopping list. I will have the guy trekking around with haste
shouting for his girlfriend being destressed and panicked. In between all the panic there
will be some comedy added just to keep the viewersentertained. Towards the end he finally
finds the place where needs to be and it’s just a normal nice village and the house he goes
to is just any ordinary family house. The door is unlocked he walks in slowly trying to find
his girlfriend. He finds a girl lying of the floor passed out and it turns out that it isn’t his
girlfriend. In his moment of confusion, he gets a text from his girlfriend saying “sorry I’ve
been asleep” whilst all of this is happening the killer/ evil character creeps behind him with
some intense music and then takes him. The end.
When it comes to research, I will be looking at films similar to mine to find techniques that I
can hopefully copy or get inspiration to do better.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
The main one technique straight away is sounds and music. I feel like these are easy
enough to use and edit with but also can be very effective when done well. When it comes
to retrieving the music, I will search on the internet to try and find the best and most
suitable music for the film. But when it comes down to getting sound effects I can record
them myself because they will be easy to get. I feel like I will need to use Steadicam just
because it will suit my style of film and the camera shots I will be using. I will also be using

a shoulder rig; I feel like these two techniques will look really good whilst my main
character is running giving you that hands on feeling of being there. I have previously used
a shoulder rig before so I know what I’m doing but with both of these techniques I feel ill
need a bit of practice to get the best shot.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
For my evaluation, I will be taking screen shots and doing my blogger so I can talk about
my work and see each step as I go on in this work. Also, I can talk about my strengths and
weaknesses of my work and see where I’m going wrong and see where my work is fine.
