Activities we will be doing in Preschool
Over the next 2 weeks we will be introducing the children to the letters ‘t’
and ‘i’. We will be talking about how they look and what objects we can
find that begin with these letter sounds.
Individually and in small groups we will be encouraging the children to
make marks to represent numbers. Rolling giant dice, throwing bean bags
into a basket, etc are good activities to inspire the children not only to
record how many they got but to ‘read’ them later on.
Activities to do at home
Every week we will be sending home the letters (eg ‘a’ ‘s’ ‘t’) we have
introduced at preschool. We would like you to help your child recognise
the letter and to find objects that begin with the letter sound. Please

the letters back before Friday so we can add a new letter.
Last week we encouraged you to buy some different pieces of fruit or
vegetables for your children. This week we would like your child to draw
or paint a picture of their favourite fruit/vegetable to put on our wall in
preschool. It would be great to see as many children as possible bringing
in pictures so we can not only celebrate their achievements but talk to
them about the great number of delicious fruit and vegetables that are
available.
Notices
There will be a staff development day on Monday 6 February, so the
children will not be attending preschool that day.
Please name your children’s jumpers and coats to enable us to give the
correct garment to your child.
