Preschool Year 2
Dear Parents,
12 -23 September
Welcome everyone to the new school year. Each fortnight you will receive an
At Home sheet telling you what your child will be doing in school and how you
can support their learning at home. Please read these carefully as they contain
important information and ways you can help your child to develop essential
skills.
Activities we will be doing in Preschool
 We will be looking at the exciting subject of underwater. We will be using
the book ‘Shark in the Park’ by Nick Sharratt to explore the different
creatures you can find in the water and what they are called.
 In the writing area we will be encouraging the children’s emerging writing
skills as they write letters to the shark and to Timothy Pope (the main
character in the story).
Activities to do at home
 Visit the library and get some books about under the water. Children love
to look at books with unusual creatures in. Bring any book your child likes
in to show us.
 Encourage your child to make marks at home eg write out a shopping list,
writing on cards. Making marks representing their name or other words is
an important stage in learning to write.
Notices
 Please make sure everything is named so that we can give you the right
jumper, cardigan, coat, etc back.
