Preschool Year 2
Dear Parents,
10 -21 October
Activities we will be doing in Preschool
 This week in maths groups, and throughout lots of different activities,
there will be an emphasis on counting. We will be encouraging the
children to accurately count five objects and then move on to larger
numbers. Pointing at each object and saying the right number is an
important and hard skill to learn.
 As we continue to talk about underwater creatures the children will make
a large 3D shark from boxes and papier mache. They will then get to paint
the shark and add different materials to create some texture.
Activities to do at home
 Encourage your child’s counting skills by counting lots of different things. It
is important that after they have counted they can tell you how many
there are. Remembering the last number and knowing that is the total is a
crucial step in developing their counting skills.
 We would still love to see any pictures your child does at home especially
pictures of sharks or other underwater creatures.
Notices
 Please can you bring in any adult sized shoe boxes you have as we need
them for a Christmas craft.
 Harvest Festival will be on Sunday 16 October at 10.30 am. This is short
family service which will involve the children singing a song at the front of
church. All welcome.
 Preschool is joining the church in sending shoeboxes with Operation
Christmas Child – more details soon!
 We will break up for half term on Friday 21 October and come back on
Monday 31 October.
