Presented at the 2014 Student Affairs and Services Symposium at York University. 10 000 new students + 1000 student leaders + 440 Events x A Shared Desire to Build Community = York’s Re-Visioning of Orientation. As part of the Division of Student Strategic Plan, York University is currently engaged in the second year of a re-visioning of its Orientation program. Attend this session to learn about the culture and process change we are enacting with our campus and student partners along with the theoretical framework that grounds our work.

Editor's Notes
- At York, social orientation or frosh week is planned by presidents and orientation chairs of our colleges and faculties. They form the York Orientation Directors Association (YODA). Each college / faculty then selects their leaders – 1100
- York is a large institution that is decentralised. We haven’t had an event that would bring the incoming student community together to receive a welcome and a message on what it means to be a member of the York community. So we planned the first Lion’s Pride event, mc’d by two YODA members and received limited remarks from the President of York, president of our student union. They also receive a piece of York branded swag to use at future events.
