The font is bold and bright with a
very sharp and cutting design to
connote the sense of seriousness
to the players. Also, the colour red
used screams danger and warning
so the audience will know what
they’re getting into.
A key aspect of the game is that
the audience can choose which
character they would like to
play as – this would appeal to
an audience because there is a
variety of options to choose
from.
Also the characters are dressed
in very natural colours like
orange, browns, blues and
greens which could show that
the characters a re good and
genuine.
The back ground is dark and daunting, filled with
contorted tree’s and a dirt brown sky. This evokes
the thought that the game is set somewhere dark
and mysterious, where anything can hide in the
shadows.
The game is an adventure side-
scroll game made from pixel
art. I think this gives an edgy,
vintage vibe to the game which
is appropriate because of the
time the game is set in.
Audiences will like this because
it adds to the games
immersion.
The pixel art also has a very
polished, professional look to
it.
The TV show the game is made from already has
a very large primary fan base, so they would
want to make the game as canon as possible in
order to keep those fans happy and buying their
products.
Existing Product
The villain is displayed on
the cover, with an
expressionless face and no
facial features at all – this
connotes fear because it is
inhumane and could imply
that he is ominous and
emotionless.
The purpose of this game is
to walk around a seemingly
haunted woods, collecting
pieces of paper that reveal
facts about slender man and
trying to escape from the
man himself. This appeals to
the audience because of the
fear and thrill aspect, there
was always a chance slender
man could sneak up on you.
Players also enjoyed the
story aspect and felt it drew
them into the plot of the
game.
The cover for this game was all black with the only light parts
being slender mans face. This could connote that you are
hopeless and blind against the villain.
Slender man is a action-based
survival horror, and has a primary
fan base already of the people
who enjoyed the Slender ‘Creepy
Pastas’
The font is in all capitals and a
scratchy, eerie style – this is to
evoke the sense of horror. Also,
with in the title it tells you a key
aspect of the game, so people
will know what they are about
to play.
Existing Product
The game is made entirely
out of pixel art. The style is
very detailed and in high
quality, which will make
people want to play a
game as refined and
professional looking as
this.
The colour scheme for
this game has very
natural colours – like
greens and browns and
beiges – but also has light
and airy colours such as
pink and purple. This
creates a very calming
atmosphere for players
when playing the game.
The game is a side scroll, point and click adventure
game where you go around doing missions and
solving problems.
The main character is almost
indistinguishable to make
out against the set which
gives the opportunity for the
audience to create the
character instead of having
to identify with a character
who they don’t really know.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
– Two of the already existing products are pixel games that are made solely out of pixel
art, using intricate details and specific designs to draw the attention of the audience.
– Two of the games are side scroll games, where the characters move sideways across the
screen and completes objectives. These games are usually simple to play and don’t
require much skill.
– In all of the games you have objectives to complete and specific things to do to further
the game forward.
– The colours are all at the dark end of the spectrum, featuring gloomy colours like blacks
and purples and reds.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on
work?
– My game will be a side scroll game, so researching similar styled games with the same
set up as my own really helped me see what other things are on the market and what
people are enjoying playing.
– In my game you will have to complete objectives (Ie. Finding the pages) to further the
story progression and finally complete the game. Without all of the objective complete,
the game will not come to an end.

Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range 15 - 25
• The almost post-apocalyptic story to my game will be interesting
enough to keep this audiences attention. Teenagers like substance
to there entertainment, especially if It is a simple side scroll game.
• The colour scheme might attract the stereotypical teenage
archetype in the sense that it is dark and gloomy.
• Apocalyptic games have been a successful business venture to
market at teenager in the past.
Gender No specific Gender
• The colour schemes are very gender neutral, just dark and full of
shadow-esque colours. In the past this could of shown the game
was marketed and men, however, where very much in a time
where woman love brooding and adventuress games just as men.
• The post-apocalyptic theme is interesting and exiting, attracting all
genders.
Psychographic
Socially Conscious
Type A, Type B,
Balanced and
Needs driven.
• The objectives and tasks with in the game will challenge and
entertain each of these psychographics. Type B will enjoy the post-
apocalyptic survival feel. Type A will care about what happened to
the ruined town and want to know the story. Balanced people and
Needs driven will enjoy completing objectives and beating the
game.
Social Status
Lower class,
working class,
middle class.
• I believe lower class, working class and middle class will all like this
game for its intriguing story line and the fact that is is simple but
compelling.

2. research [comp] copy

  • 2. Existing Product The font is bold and bright with a very sharp and cutting design to connote the sense of seriousness to the players. Also, the colour red used screams danger and warning so the audience will know what they’re getting into. A key aspect of the game is that the audience can choose which character they would like to play as – this would appeal to an audience because there is a variety of options to choose from. Also the characters are dressed in very natural colours like orange, browns, blues and greens which could show that the characters a re good and genuine. The back ground is dark and daunting, filled with contorted tree’s and a dirt brown sky. This evokes the thought that the game is set somewhere dark and mysterious, where anything can hide in the shadows. The game is an adventure side- scroll game made from pixel art. I think this gives an edgy, vintage vibe to the game which is appropriate because of the time the game is set in. Audiences will like this because it adds to the games immersion. The pixel art also has a very polished, professional look to it. The TV show the game is made from already has a very large primary fan base, so they would want to make the game as canon as possible in order to keep those fans happy and buying their products.
  • 3. Existing Product The villain is displayed on the cover, with an expressionless face and no facial features at all – this connotes fear because it is inhumane and could imply that he is ominous and emotionless. The purpose of this game is to walk around a seemingly haunted woods, collecting pieces of paper that reveal facts about slender man and trying to escape from the man himself. This appeals to the audience because of the fear and thrill aspect, there was always a chance slender man could sneak up on you. Players also enjoyed the story aspect and felt it drew them into the plot of the game. The cover for this game was all black with the only light parts being slender mans face. This could connote that you are hopeless and blind against the villain. Slender man is a action-based survival horror, and has a primary fan base already of the people who enjoyed the Slender ‘Creepy Pastas’ The font is in all capitals and a scratchy, eerie style – this is to evoke the sense of horror. Also, with in the title it tells you a key aspect of the game, so people will know what they are about to play.
  • 4. Existing Product The game is made entirely out of pixel art. The style is very detailed and in high quality, which will make people want to play a game as refined and professional looking as this. The colour scheme for this game has very natural colours – like greens and browns and beiges – but also has light and airy colours such as pink and purple. This creates a very calming atmosphere for players when playing the game. The game is a side scroll, point and click adventure game where you go around doing missions and solving problems. The main character is almost indistinguishable to make out against the set which gives the opportunity for the audience to create the character instead of having to identify with a character who they don’t really know.
  • 5. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? – Two of the already existing products are pixel games that are made solely out of pixel art, using intricate details and specific designs to draw the attention of the audience. – Two of the games are side scroll games, where the characters move sideways across the screen and completes objectives. These games are usually simple to play and don’t require much skill. – In all of the games you have objectives to complete and specific things to do to further the game forward. – The colours are all at the dark end of the spectrum, featuring gloomy colours like blacks and purples and reds. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? – My game will be a side scroll game, so researching similar styled games with the same set up as my own really helped me see what other things are on the market and what people are enjoying playing. – In my game you will have to complete objectives (Ie. Finding the pages) to further the story progression and finally complete the game. Without all of the objective complete, the game will not come to an end.
  • 7. Audience Profile Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience Age Range 15 - 25 • The almost post-apocalyptic story to my game will be interesting enough to keep this audiences attention. Teenagers like substance to there entertainment, especially if It is a simple side scroll game. • The colour scheme might attract the stereotypical teenage archetype in the sense that it is dark and gloomy. • Apocalyptic games have been a successful business venture to market at teenager in the past. Gender No specific Gender • The colour schemes are very gender neutral, just dark and full of shadow-esque colours. In the past this could of shown the game was marketed and men, however, where very much in a time where woman love brooding and adventuress games just as men. • The post-apocalyptic theme is interesting and exiting, attracting all genders. Psychographic Socially Conscious Type A, Type B, Balanced and Needs driven. • The objectives and tasks with in the game will challenge and entertain each of these psychographics. Type B will enjoy the post- apocalyptic survival feel. Type A will care about what happened to the ruined town and want to know the story. Balanced people and Needs driven will enjoy completing objectives and beating the game. Social Status Lower class, working class, middle class. • I believe lower class, working class and middle class will all like this game for its intriguing story line and the fact that is is simple but compelling.
