Working Title:
“Not a Bear Hunt.’
The big foot campaign.
Product’s Purpose:
My products purpose is to promote a fictional adventure/misery novel that is purely for
entertainment purposes. The main product itself will be a book (book cover) involving a fictional
world where the audience can escape into and enjoy reading through experience not at all like
their own. Also the book is quite informative as it will walk through the progress of two teenagers
battling very heavy subjects, some of which could relate to the life of the reader. The poster will be
purely informative as it will allow audiences to know of when the books release will be due to the
date being large on the front, as well as the name of the product as some interesting and familiar
art design so consumers will know what they would be buying. The adver-gif is a unique and fun
way to promote the book on social media, allowing there to the discussion across different
platforms and allow audiences to interact with product itself and hype up the book.
Genre:
The product will be an adventure/mystery book, as two children go on an adventure through the
woodlands of a small towns and find secrets that the town has been hiding for years. Similar
existing products that I have research are Hansel and Gretel, Life is strange and Oxen free.
Content
Book cover:
The book cover will be front and back, on the front it will show a large sasquatch footprint
imbedded into fresh looking grass; I will do this because it well let my audience know that a large
portion of the book will be about sasquatch and discovering clues to his whereabouts. Curved
inside the footprint, in orange and flossy pink bubble-gum writing will be the title of the book: ‘Not a
bear hunt.’ The colours inside this footprint will represent the main characters, a boy and a girl,
which will reflect that all genders can relate to the content of this product.
Underneath the footprint in a thinner more wispy type font will be the author’s name, and perhaps
a ‘best seller’ sticker will appear in the corner of the front cover. The authors name will allow the
audience to recognize who the book was written by and also make it easier for to identify the book.
The back cover will have an old, writing paper feel to it. Written like hand writing on the back of a
turned yellow-with-age lined paper will be the blurb [to be thought of]. The blurb will be there so the
audience knows what to expect from the novel and if it would be something that they would enjoy
to read, because if it isn’t, it would save bad reviews from the book.
At the bottom of the back cover will be quotes from people and magazines that have enjoyed the
book, a bar code, and the authors name again. Positive reviews from respected people will
encourage people to buy the product.
Book poster:
The book poster will be a shot of a pine trees with a shot of a big, gloomy sasquatch looking
creature hiding in the shadows of the tree. This will be so I can demonstrate the main setting of
novel so audience know what to expect. A pink rucksack and an orange rucksack will be lying on
the ground, with two pairs of foot prints trailing away from it. This will demonstrate that the two
main characters are different genders, thus letting consumers know that anyone who reads can
relate in some way to the characters. The name of the book will be written on top of the woods,
and the slogan [to be thought of] will be written in the grass, with the authors name and release
date written underneath. All of these points will allow the audience to recognize the product when it
is on sale, and the release date will let them know when to expect it on shelves.
Adver gif:
The adver-gif will picture two young people – one, a girl with flossy pink hair and a boy with dark
hair – standing over what seems to be a sasquatch footprint. This will show that they are curious
and exploring what they have found, which hits and the adventure/mystery genre of the book. They
are also stood in the middle of a pine-wooded area, and behind the tree’s is a animated big foot
moving from in-between the trunks. The name of the product will be seen all the way through to
secure recognition, and the release date will flash on and off from inside the big foot print.

Audience:
My target audience has no specific gender, although there were 10% more girls than boys that
answered my survey but for no particular reason. All genders will like my product because there is
emotional centred plot points that will stereotypically appeal to females, and then action plot points
that stereotypically appeal to the male gender. Also the two main characters are male and female,
so both genders can relate more to the characters.
The age of my audience will be teenagers, from 15-25, because the adventure/mystery genre is
often successfully targeted at this age bracket. Also, the story line will be mature enough and filled
with lots of interesting plot points to keep this audience entertained. Whereas for older audiences,
they may think the product is not mature enough and wouldn’t be able to relate to the teenaged
main characters.
It Is likely they will be of the BC1C2D NRS social grade, because the people in these categories
are the ones most likely to positively respond to the advertisements. They will relate to characters
as the come from a lower income family, but will still be able to purchase the book.
The psychographic of the people to most likely read my project will be in the ‘socially conscious
(A&B)’ bracket, and perhaps some from the ‘balanced’ and ‘needs driven’ categories too.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include?
My product doesn’t have any content inside that is targeted at any particular type of person or
group, neither does it have any opinions that could offend any particular type of person or group.
This complies with the ASA code number 4 – Harm and Offence.
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
There will be a recommended age for consumption, but it will not restrict anyone from a younger
age bracket from reading the novel or viewing its promotions. Because of this, it will not have any
material that could promote bad behaviour or influence children to get into harmful situations. This
complies with the ASA code number 5 – Children. Also, the product will be very clearly fiction so it
will not promote lies or state unproven facts as facts. This complies to the ASA code number 1 –
compliance.
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
The only social group I believe my book could offend is the massive cult following that
bigfoot/sasquatch holds, however it is not intentional and probably invalid. This complies with the
ASA code number 4 – Harm and Offence.
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
I will be sure that I am not being insensitive to other people’s beliefs by checking through the work
and doing thorough research into what people have found offensive in the past. This will comply to
the ASA code number 4 – Harm and Offence.
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
No – all logo’s and characters and names are original to the product. This complies to the ASA
code number 6 – Privacy.
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for
copyright infringement?
My product has not been inspired or influenced by any other product and has enough originality to
pass copyright infringement, but to make sure of this I will continue to look through similar product
and see if any problems ensue. This complies to the copy write laws.
