Sociological Perspective Paper
Sociological Perspective Paper Jeremiah Jarman SOC/100 6 August 2010 Dr. Anne McDaniel The
World has produced a great deal of thinkers. Socialologists have a keen understanding and insight into
human nature and the world around them. They have developed many theories on the human thoughts
and actions. Herbert Blumer was a profound sociologist who had a deep impact on social theory. He
was an interactionist who coined the term symbolic interactionism and formulated the most prominent
version of the theory. An interactionsist focuses on the aspects so social life instead of the social

Management Access Control At Lan Essay
Introduction:
Several buildings spread across a local area network with hundreds or thousands of devices ranging in
size from single office computers, a computer network LAN stands for. The main role of LAN
computers linked together and to share access to printers, fax machines, data storage, messaging,
games, file servers, and other services. LAN aspect of the development of the school, the university,
the office building to operate as a small geographic area, quick data transfer.
LAN common share data devices in the world today are major large sized businesses, and the
interaction between the role and the lower its cost. LAN s data can be transmitted at rates faster than
the speed of the telephone line, and have the ability to transmit data; But the distances are limited.

Management Access Control at LAN :
Access control to the main function and that is to control the members of the network LAN to use the
data from the area. LAN users do what they can access resources on a system; they specify what
activities it offers management. For example, there are several sections of a company; Marketing, IT
marketing and accounts of the users do not need access to the data by the IT department and so on.

A Vibrant Banking System
A vibrant banking system is essential for any economy striving to achieve growth and stability in a
competitive global business environment. The best indicator for the health of the banking industry in a
country is its level of Non performing assets (NPAs). NPAs are one of the major concerns for banks in
India. It reflects the performance of banks. Reduced NPAs generally give the impression that banks
have strengthened their credit appraisal processes over the years and growth in NPAs involves the
necessity of provisions, which bring down the over all profitability of banks. The Indian banking
sector is facing a serious problem of NPA. The magnitude of NPA is comparatively higher in public
sectors banks. To improve the efficiency and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Amylase Is An Enzyme Commonly Found In Human Saliva. It
Amylase is an enzyme commonly found in human saliva. It is used to catabolize starch into glucose
and maltose by lowering the activation energy barrier, and by breaking the alpha 1 4 bonds of amylose
and amylopectin and the alpha 1 6 bonds of amylopectin. Amylase is found in one s saliva and
pancreas, and Porcrine Pancreatic α Amylase is amylase that has been isolated from the pancreas of a
pig. While amylase is effective at breaking down starch, in the normal saliva pH range of 6.02 to 7.14
(Schmidt Nielsen, 1946), any pH environment outside of this range will decrease the reaction rate. The
same goes for the temperature of the amylase s environment. At a normal body temperature of around
37°C, the amylase functions at its fastest rate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this experiment we found this prediction to be true; even though there is no true consensus on
the exact optimum pH for alpha amylase activity, all of the sources place it around 6.00 or 7.00.
Materials and Methods First, six different buffers were used and 5 mL of each buffer was added to six
different test tubes. The six buffers were as follows: pH 4.00 was Potassium Biphthalate (Item # 280
4.00), pH 5.00 was Potassium Biphthalate/ Sodium Phosphate (Item # 280 5.00), pH 6.00 was

Potassium Phosphate (Item # 280 7.00), pH 8.00 was Sodium Phosphate/ Potassium Phosphate (Item
# 280 8.00), pH 9.00 was Sodium Bicarbonate/ Sodium Carbonate (Item # 280 9.00). All of the
aforementioned hydrion buffer salts were obtained from Micro Essential Laboratories in Brooklyn,
NY. Secondly, 1.5 mL of a 1% w/v α Amylase solution from porcine pancreas, Type VI B, ≥10

Research On The Salem Witch Trials
Research on the Salem Witch Trials Before the Trials Belief in the supernatural and specifically in the
devil s practice of giving certain humans (witches) the power to harm others in return for their loyalty
had emerged in Europe as early as the 14th century, and was widespread in colonial New England. In
addition, the harsh realities of life in the rural Puritan community of Salem Village (present day
Danvers, Massachusetts) at the time included the after effects of a British war with France in the
American colonies in 1689, a recent smallpox epidemic, fears of attacks from neighboring Native
American tribes and a longstanding rivalry with the more affluent community of Salem Town (present

Delta Air Flow Analysis
Abstract: Throughout history, human beings have been astonished by the concept of flight. In the
modern world, planes, helicopters and other aircrafts have been engineered to fulfil this perception,
allowing people to travel around the world in easy. However, just like cars and trains, planes are also
prone to accidents influenced by bad weather conditions. The information below describes how a
thunderstorm and wind shear affected Delta fight 191 in 1985. Which will provide the physics behind
the accident and the weather system and create recommendations to help limit these types of air
accidents. Introduction/ background: The concept of flight follows basic physics principles includes

Diagram shows the four forces in flight. This diagram will be further explained throughout the
analysis of the different forces and how bad weather affects them (hall, 2015). The diagram displays
that weight is the opposing force of lift and is dependent on the mass of all the airplane parts, plus the
amount of fuel and any payload on board such as people, baggage and so on (Woodford, Chris,
2009/2017). Weight is also a continuous downward force that planes must constantly overcome to stay
in the air by generating enough lift to overcome gravity. As the airplane moves through the air, there
are other aerodynamic forces present such as thrust and drag. According to Real World Physics
Problems (2009), Thrust is the force that moves the airplane forward which is generated by an engine
creating the backward force allowing the plane to move

The Moral Heroism Of Antigone By Susan B. Anthony
Humans are born with the potential to achieve greatness and to create a difference in the world.
Though individuals possess the capacity to prove the immorality within them, they also possess an
inner hero that is capable of performing tremendous good for the benefit of others. However, seldom
do humans actually embrace the courage to stand up for their ethical principles and to challenge the
existing social standards that are organized under strict leadership. Famous figures from Susan B.
Anthony to Rosa Parks drew their moral heroism from the heroic action of characters in Greek
literature such as Sophocles s Antigone. The protagonist, Antigone, creates a conflict between her
allegiances to political law and morals when the Theban king Creon decrees that the body of his
nephew, Polyneices, remains unburied. To Creon, it sets a substandard example for the future of
Thebes because Polyneices attacked his native city in a battle against the invading army of Argos.
Since the morals of Antigone have a close connection with true justice and human well being, she
defies Creon s laws and vows to give the proper burial rites to Polyneices as they were presented to
her brother Eteocles. Antigone s sacrifice to bury her brother results from a need to embrace family
pride, a feeling to satisfy the gods desires, and a responsibility to represent the Theban citizens.
The honor that Antigone wants to maintain for her family, coupled with the irreplaceable nature of
family, outweigh her

Temporary Listening
According to Central Maine Medical Center policy on temporary pacing, the pacer works to deliver
direct electrical stimulation to stimulate the myocardium to depolarize which initiates a mechanical
contraction when the sinoatrial node is unable to do so. Temporary pacing of the heart is indicated in
multiple circumstances. It is primarily used after a valve surgery. However the pacer is also used for
the maintenance of inadequate heart rate and rhythm during surgery, postoperative recovery, cardiac
catheterization, coronary angioplasty, certain drug therapies that cause bradycardia and before
implantation of a permanent pacemaker. It can also be used to stabilize heart beats after a myocardial

Postoperatively, pediatric patients typically exhibit low cardiac output. The study by Pediatric
Cardiology provided temporary pacing to pediatric patients who underwent cardiovascular surgery
with efforts to help enhance cardiac output postoperatively. 60 pediatric patients under the age of 18
consented to participate in the study. However, only 30 of the consenting patients were able to take
part in the study. The 30 patients were unable to take part in the study largely because they became
tachycardic at baseline postoperatively. Once temporary pacing was placed in the eligible patients, no
benefit was determined. Cardiac output did no increase any faster than pediatric surgical patients who
did not receive temporary pacing. Because the subjects in this study consisted of such a small subset,
the author determined that even though temporary pacing was not beneficial for any of the patients in
the study, temporary pacing will be beneficially to patients suffering from bradycardia postoperatively
because the pacer will help maintain a normal sinus

Speech About Smoking
It s not surprising that in this world you see at least one person a day smoking. I mean who doesn t
love watching people rush to get lung cancer? Seeing one person just taking their life away with
something so stoppable, is so adorable, I mean what other qualities would you look for in a man? I
like mine fully addicted and ready to waste their life away. It s the best religion that I must say so
myself. In fact, I like that people rely on something like religion to lead them to the way they want to
live their life. I personally believe in the smokies. The smokinese are a group of people that worship
nicotine. Id honestly love to be apart of that. I mean I love the smell of it in the air, the feeling of
polluted air. Nothing gets better than that. In reality smoking is the only relief to take away pain these
days. I mean what other reason would people put something so horrible into their body if it didn t
relieve any type of stress or good feeling. I live for the day to see everyone to have lung cancer and
killing themselves for just being vulnerable about stress relief. I mean people preach smoking
nowadays. People wanna go back to the way of smoking in a restaurant and people recommend it, it s
a religion that s being created without anyone understanding. As the smokinese people believe that the
only way to live a happy and stress free life is to become addicted to smoking, they sure are right. I

Reflection On Group Presentation
In the group presentation, my group and I presented on the issue of isms. This included focus on
sexism, ageism, and racism. I felt that each person in our group was very diverse and unique which
made our presentation stand out with having a little bit of individuality from each member in the
presentation. Our main goal of communication was to inform the audience on what exactly each ism
is, discuss where each one is found, and how the are influenced in today s society. From the start of
the group presentation process, I found myself being an emergent leader. With a lack of
communication when our group first got together, I felt we were in need of leadership because it
seemed nobody else was going to do anything such as getting each others numbers or creating a group
name, so I decided to take charge the best I could. As time went on our group started to get our stuff
together. With that said if we all began brainstorming and set up some procedural needs from the start,
the group would of been on the same page and maybe some wouldn t have waited until the last
moment. I was thankful for Jonathan for stepping up and helping the group get started with an outline
and focusing on a question of policy along with answering any other questions that arose during the
presentation process. Once the deadline got closer however is when we communicated the most.
Sounds logical but my hope was that we all have most of the work done prior than the day before it
was due so we could

Essay Military Women Should NOT Be Allowed in Combat...
There are growing feelings in the United States that, as women are having more rights given to them
that were previously restricted, women should be given everything that is offered to men. This is
becoming very true in the military, where much sentiment is that women should be given the
opportunity to serve in combat arms positions. Women are currently allowed to serve in combat
support positions, such as military intelligence and air support positions, but they are not allowed to
serve in positions such as infantry, armor, or field artillery. Many believe that it is time to open these
positions to women soldiers and allow them to serve in the front lines of combat. Although women are
currently allowed to serve in combat support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some counterparts also point out that many men may also be emotionally unstable in the rigors of
warfare, so keeping women out of combat positions for this reason is discriminating against women.
Overall, many feel that it is crippling to the idea of equality to not allow women to serve in any
position that they chose to in the military, and that women should be given the opportunity to prove
themselves able to do the job. Women should not be allowed to serve in combat arms positions
because many of them are not physically able to perform well in this capacity. It is a known fact that,
as a group, men are stronger than women. One of the primary reasons that women are barred from
combat arms positions is because their physical strength is inferior to that of men and rightfully so.
Combat arms positions requires great physical strength and endurance to perform a multitude of
physical tasks, including marching while carrying weapons and heavy gear, hours of physical training,
and lifting dead comrades during training exercises. Of course a combat arms soldier s duties are
endless, and most of them require much strength and endurance. According to the February 1999
edition of Reader s Digest, a US Navy study revealed that women possess half of the lifting power of
men. This report also says that women scoring in the top seven percent torso strength among women
scored in the bottom seven percent when compared to men (142). The torso is where most men in

Analysis Of Mlk Letter From Birmingham Jail

of the best and the most powerful letters I have ever read in my life. The fact Dr. King wrote it sitting
in roach infested, Birmingham jail gives him a huge appreciation. He annihilated racial segregation
and created a powerful message which we excite and quote nowadays. As you read this letter, you can
read an idea of African American injustice throughout the text. Even Martin Luther King says I am
here because injustice is here . It is shocking to imagine that person cannot use a public transportation

How Did The Egyptians Influence Greek Math
Ancient Greek mathematicians contributed enormously to fundamental math that built up from
practical math such as geometry, engineering, astronomy and the astonishing academic contributions
to worldly influences. Greek mathematicians would the one of the earliest civilizations to transform
mathematics into rational thoughts when viewing all the concepts in the world. From ancient
mathematicians such as the Egyptians and Babylonians, they both viewed their calculations through
reasoning and using repeated observations to seek solutions to their equations. There was no real
framework of their proof being certain since geometric considerations played a second role in
arithmetic formulas. Greek mathematicians were influenced by the Egyptians and ... Show more

They were interested in proving that certain mathematical ideas were true and spent a lot of time using
geometry to prove their theories. Due to this, the Greeks were all influenced on the idea of proof and
they used logical stages to prove or disprove their theories and its solutions. Also to distinguish the
difference between what can work and what cannot. It can heavily influence on means to convince
someone or oneself that something is true through proved arguments based on reason. In mathematics,
a proof is a deductive argument for a mathematical statement and nobody will ever find a
counterexample, nor ever gainsay that particular mathematical fact (Krantz). That is why math is
based on deductive reasoning and through this mathematicians are reassured on their absolute and
proven theories. This also gave the building blocks to the mathematician Euclid and his famous work,
the Elements, which proved geometry from deductive reasoning to prove common notions and
postulates. Through the Elements, Euclid organized and presented the basics of mathematical
knowledge with results that were presented in a formally logical order. His logical framework for
geometry was very concise and even if one accepts the consensus view, it is still reasonable to seek
some sort of the explanation of the success of the practice (Avigad). Through this, every statement

How to Cope with the Promises and Perils of Technology
We are all technologists. We all believe in progress. But not all in the same way.
The politics of engineering is as complicated as engineering itself, and as contested as man and nature
that usually enrich political debates. The mission of an engineer is essentially savoring it, defending it,
and improving it, but also coping with it and transcending it. There is nothing especially laudable in
romanticizing lost worlds, or pretending that societies without skyscrapers or modern communication
are more authentic than our own, or believing that disarming ourselves will make the perils of
technological power disappear. May we not fantasize that the present world is necessarily the finest
human achievement yet, or that politically necessary and morally justified uses of technological power
are wholly innocent. For, they usually are not.
Our problem is that of ensuring whether the future we believe in is worthy of our devotion. In other
words, it is about how we cope with the promises and perils of technology. Answering this question
will require clear thinking about scientific prospects, distinguishing wild speculations from scientific
reality, and describing technological possibilities in a way that common man can judge and
understand. It will require political leadership with a deeper understanding of engineering, and
engineers who accept that technological expertise does not guarantee its balanced application to
humanity.

ABSTRACT
Abrasive Water Jet Machining (AWJM) is a new machining technique. Abrasive Water Jet Machining
is widely used in many industries, including mining and aerospace, for cutting, shaping, and reaming.
AWJM is the extended version of Water Jet Machining. AWJM is a non conventional machining
process where the material is removed by impact erosion of the high velocity, high pressure of water
and entrained high velocity of fine grit abrasives such as sand (SiO2) or beads of glass on a work
piece. The Important process parameters which mainly affect the quality of cutting are hydraulic
pressure, traverse speed, standoff distance, abrasive flow rate and types of abrasive material used in
the process. The Important quality parameters in AWJM are Material Removal Rate (MRR), Surface
Roughness (SR), kerf width and tapering of the kerf. This paper reviews the research work carried out
so far in the area AWJM.

Disadvantages Of Trauma
Introduction Many people experience trauma in various aspects of life. These aspects may be
behavioral, social, mental and physical. The department of health and human service in the United
States claims that 55 95% of women report trauma cases at some point of their life. Most abuses
occur, and traumatizing situations occur in childhood and may be extended to adulthood. The trauma
may come as a result of sexual abuse, family dysfunctions and parental negligence making children to
develop stress and a feeling of loneliness. More women compared to men go through traumatic
experiences at younger ages and a few cases recorded among the adults. According to the research
done by Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE), they associated trauma with emotional problems,
adult diseases, social problems, health and some disability cases (Classen Clark, 2017). Traumatized
children are often withdrawn and stressed. They are not happy and are not socially active. They prefer
to stay alone trying to wonder how they can solve their problems. They wonder whether the way they
have to undergo the problems, they undergo unlike some of their friends who lead a normal happy life.
They find it hard to accept some of their life situations and wish their lives were same as that of their
friends. The trauma amongst children is very common, and they require encouragements so that they
can cope with life. Trauma informed approach tries to impact the following to the affected individuals

The Role Of Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
This paper will focus on the role of the advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), specifically
highlighting the family practitioner and the integral role played with the underserved. The focus will
be on a San Diego nurse s journey to become an APRN and her work in giving back to underserved
communities throughout the county. Mary Baker, MSN, RN, CNS, FNP BC, APHN BC continues to
contribute to nursing as part of her dedication to serving the underserved.
Historical Perspective
According to the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (N.D.), the progression of the advanced
practice nurse (APN) began nearly 50 years ago. From the advent of the first APN program to the over
350 accredited programs and over 222,000 certified nurse practitioners in the United States, the role of
the APN has significantly increased and expanded a profession to better improve healthcare for
Americans (American Association of Nurse Practitioners, N.D., American Academy of Nurse
Practitioners, 2016). Of these, more than half are in the field of family practitioners (American
Academy of Nurse Practitioners, 2016).
One such family pracitioner began her journey nearly a decade ago. Following a career in information
technology, Mary Baker completed her nursing degree at California State University San Marcos in
2009 and continued to pursue her advanced practice nursing degree as a family nurse practitioner. In
2014, she obtained her national certification as a family nurse practitioner as well as

The Transformation Of The American Dream By Robert Shiller
According to President Donald Trump and Ben Carson, the secretary of housing and urban
development, part of the American Dream involves owning a beautiful home and a roaring business
(1). However, Robert Shiller argues that the definition of the American Dream has drastically changed
to the detriment of our economy and society (3). In his essay The Transformation of the American
Dream , Shiller claims that the overuse of this phrase has caused its meaning to become morally
hallowed out (1).
Through the chronological structure of his content, Shiller tracks the exponential increase in the use of
the phrase American Dream to show how its repetition changed its meaning. Shiller begins in 1931
where James Truslow Adams argues in his book,

Theories And Aspects Of A Place At Festival Foods And...
After conducting both parts of the data collection, we have noticed what theories and aspects of the
store helps customers to become satisfied during their trip. The atmosphere of the store which is set
through lighting, texture, and music played a significant role in customer s experience. As mentioned
previously in the report, the atmosphere of a store is important to how consumers will interact with
products and make decisions within the store. The atmosphere at Festival Foods and Capitol Centre
Market were very different. Festival Foods was more open and natural lighting was prominent. On the
other hand, Capitol Centre Market was overall more enclosed with very little to no natural lighting.

The grid organization of both grocery stores helped people easily find what they needed while
encouraging people to buy more items. The signage is also another factor that influence customers
wayfinding and shopping satisfaction. Festival food particularly had very good signage. Each different
districts of the grocery store was well marked and each aisle was numbered and had overhanging signs
with the type of items that were in each aisle. Similarly, Capitol Centre Market s aisle were also
labeled, however, the signage was minimal can make it difficult to find the product people needs. The
minimal signage, according to the customers we interviewed, was compensated by the fact that their
employees were helpful and knowledgeable about where things are. It is also important to keep in
mind that Festival Foods is a significantly larger grocery store than Capitol Centre Market so the
signage for the two different stores varied. Overall, most of the interviewees were easily able to find
the items they needed with the help of signs, organization, and employees.
The theory of Gibson s Affordances, a concept that refers to the idea that certain surfaces, substances
or layouts will elicit specific behavioral responses in people (Gifford, 2014, p. 30) is also apparent and
extremely relevant. For example, Festival Foods has tall vertical aisles in a store which encourages
customers to proceeds to walk through them because

Wright s Visions of Jesus in his Book, Who Was Jesus
But who do you say I am? (Matthew 16:15). Two thousand years ago, Jesus asked his followers. Who
he really was? Tom Wright, who lives in 21st century, asks again. In this book, Wright puts the reader
on a time machine and brings them back to Palestine, 1st century and starts the story of historical
Jesus . Wright directly goes into the Gospels and talks about Jesus. Put down the ambition of Jews,
take away the mystery of history, break the rule of religion, and at the moment when you realize about
Jesus real desire, we finally can feel and see the real Jesus. Throughout this book, we discover
questions such as Who did Jesus think he was, what was Jesus trying to accomplish and why did he
try to do that. Wright not only tries to prove who Jesus is in a theological way but also explains who
Jesus was in Jesus world. For both people in Jesus time period and people in today, Jesus was foreign
and was different than what people thought as a God . Because of this, we missed the fact that Jesus
was standing in the middle of history, culture, and religion. In the Bible, Jesus came to this land as a
king and as a Messiah. But what is the relationship between Jesus and us?
According to Wright, Jesus is bigger than we and the church can even imagine and people today do
not take him seriously. Also, people today are underestimating Jesus. God did not come to teach
people how to go to heaven, but to teach that God is trying to be a king of this land and if people pray

Questions For The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
1. Fire is a major theme in The Glass Castle. Jeannette becomes very fascinated by fire which
continues throughout the novel. The first you hear of fire is when Jeannette is burned while cooking
hotdogs at the age of three. Though she suffers extreme injuries, Jeannette becomes extremely
fascinated by fire. In the novel, she cannot keep herself from playing with it and watching it. In The
Glass Castle there are a number of other fires that burn houses, sheds, and injure other people like
Jeannette. The theme of fire can relate to chaos between family and other people mentioned in this
book.

Essay about Socrates Views on Virtue and Happiness
There are certain truths of the world that cannot be ignored or overlooked. Many philosophers have
spent countless years discussing, debating and evaluating such truths. One such influential philosopher
is Socrates. Born in Athens in 469 B.C.E, he spent most of his time at the marketplace and other
public places engaging in dialogues about truths of life. Among many other things, he discussed virtue
and happiness and how closely they are related. According to Socrates, virtue is absolutely necessary
for perfect happiness because virtue brings a type of happiness that other things could never bring. In
this paper, I will explain the aforementioned idea of Socrates on virtue and happiness and through
evidence from Plato s Apology which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea of goodness and virtue goes anything beyond worldly values and ideals. A good man cannot
be harmed either in life or in death (41d), says Socrates further explaining that no matter what, a better
man [cannot] be harmed by a worse (30d). Having virtue gives you a certain happiness that is well
beyond life or death or worldly values and goods. So, how exactly does a person become virtuous?
Socrates offers suggestions and explanation for this question as well. Socrates claims that one cannot
be virtuous accidentally. Just because you commit a virtuous act does not make you virtuous. An
understanding of the concept of virtue is equally important as the virtuous act itself. One needs to
understand the nature of virtue which requires reflection of virtue and this reflection is only possible
once you grasp your own ignorance about the nature of virtue. This understanding of one s own
ignorance is human wisdom. So, since being perfectly happy requires being virtuous and being
virtuous requires human wisdom, human wisdom is necessary for perfect happiness. So as a person
begins to acquire human wisdom which is merely an understanding and acknowledgment of one s own
ignorance, they are on their road to acquiring perfect happiness. So what happens to people who
cannot acquire human wisdom and in turn cannot be virtuous? Are they denied happiness

An Overview Of United Technologies s Code Of Ethics Of...
What kind of privacy do Engineers and Scientists have in the workplace? One might be surprised, that
the basic rights we take for granted are not protected in the workplace. Employers have a legitimate
interest in monitoring their employees to assure security, efficiency and productivity, however,
sometimes employee monitoring goes well beyond legitimate concerns and becomes simply an
invasion of privacy. The debate of employee monitoring continues on; whether it is legal, moral, or
ethical. Corporations believe it is necessary to maintain security, limit their liability and to discourage
dishonest activity, while employees experience a negative effect of emotional and physical stress, and
lack of trust and motivation.

Two obvious moral issues exist: The ethics of employee monitoring and the ethics of certain employee
behavior. Employers In its broadest sense, taking a utilitarian approach in addressing moral problems
requires us to focus on the idea of bringing about the greatest good for the greatest number (Harris
38). For employees legal liability and moral responsibility is usually associated with negligently
causing harm. Unlike recklessness, where an element of deliberateness or intent is involved (such as a
decision to drive fast), in negligent behavior the person may simply overlook something or not even
be aware of the factors that could cause harm. Furthermore, there may not be any direct causal
component. The person is responsible because she has failed to exercise due care, which is the care
that would be expected of a reasonable person in the circumstances. In law, a successful charge of
negligence must meet four

Innate Sexual Identity
I believe people are born with an innate sexual identity that they can not change. I base this belief on
books and articles of scientific research that I have read over the years. However, I believe many
individuals lie to themselves and/or to others about their sexual identity due to social pressures.
I believe that many parents who disrespect homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgendered people openly
in front of their children may trigger the children into repressing their sexual identities. As an
example, if a homosexual child were born into a family who does not approve of homosexuality he or
she may be inclined to pretend to be heterosexual. I believe many individuals even get married and
have children with opposite sex partners, while denying

Diversity In English
The English language is constantly changing and adapting. There are so many different forms,
dialects, and accents etc. The way that they have evolved and become what they are currently is
perhaps the most interesting thing, even moreso that wondering what they might potentially become as
they continue to adapt to fit the time. I took a class this semester called Diversity and in this class we
discussed the idea of accents as way to stereotype people. We hear the way that one person speaks and
use that to determine things about them that we absolutely shouldn t. For example assuming that
someone with an accent you don t recognize or is hard for you to understand is less educated or has
less money. In that class we looked into more regional accents ... Show more content on

Bravery is an island in on ocean of fear. To be brave, is not to be fearless; Instead it is to be fearful, yet
remain unmoved by that fear. This applies to the novel Code Talker by Joseph Bruchac. This is
because of how the main character Kii Yazhi demonstrates leadership in the novel. Kii is a Navajo

going to boarding school to learning codes to communicate while being a marine. Kii becomes a

Limitations Of The UCI School Of Law
A limitation of this study was that there were only two different law classes observed and only two
interviews conducted. Through this study, over 8 hours of data collection. The classes at both these
observation sites were in different material, one being Criminal Law and the other being Immigration
Law and Policy, which may have been a limitation. This may have been a limitation because there
may be different students oriented towards these areas of law that could have affected their responses.
In addition, there was an unequal gender distribution of interviewees, considering that both were
female. In addition, these two sites provided different sample sizes, the first being twice as large as the
second, which may be a limitation when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another credibility issue at these two observation sites is a difference in rankings, since the University
of California, Irvine School of Law is the twenty eighth best law school in the United States, while no
rank is published for Whittier Law School. There was also a bias in choosing both these settings,
given that they are both situated in Orange County. I am also an undergraduate student at the
University of California, Irvine, so I was familiar with the campus and the navigating through the
course schedules.
Implications
The findings of the current study have multiple purposes for the legal education system. These results
can be useful for current law school professors and students interested in pursuing a legal education.
Data shows that rankings have an impact on the prospective decisions of law students and that it can
shape their opinions on where to go to law school, but rejects important variables that could affect the
student s experience at the school. In expanding the variables taken into consideration by these
rankings, the U.S. News World Report could provide more realistic ratings that enable students to
choose a college that would be a good fit for them. Data shows the main goal for law students is to
become professionals and gain knowledge, instead of practicing law. Based on these findings, it would
be important to educate these students more about the legal professional and other graduate programs
during undergraduate education. Also,

Nasa Announced The End Of The Shuttle Program
Introduction On April 28, 2001, the Russian Soyuz rocket blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome
in central Kazakhstan carrying its cargo and crew to the International Space Station. Unlike any
previous mission, this time there was a new crew member on board. Dennis Tito, a wealthy American

Hyacinth Macaw Research Paper
Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus)
The hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthine) is a parrot homegrown to central and eastern

The promise of a decade of development of high technology air power was expected by some to show
a new way of fighting wars. The evidence from the campaign appears to give a more mixed message.
Certainly, a higher percentage of air weapons was guided in this conflict than in any previous war.
Strategic intelligence appears to have been less accurate than had been expected.
The unexpected initial resistance by Iraqi forces, followed by later surrender, required flexible
coalition operations. The vision of the use of chemical and biological weapons proved groundless. The
efficiency of special operations will be one area for deeper revision. The media policy will need
reviewing for future operations. At this stage, the article does no more than record the sequence of

Computer Surfing, And Real Life Experience
It s funny when one takes away 9/11, computer surfing, and real life experience, I cannot name a time
when I watched something forbidden or inappropriate. Let me rephrase that: others might have called
certain movies or TV shows inappropriate for my age, but I was never left with that sense. Maybe it
was because, for all that I was a pretty curious child, I respected when my parents told me I couldn t
watch something. Maybe it was because my parents had a good sense of what I and my siblings could
understand and process at those young ages. Truthfully, I still don t have a solid answer, but looking
back on those old memories has given me an interesting perspective. My brother adored dinosaurs as a
child. He had a laundry basket full of toy dinosaurs, an entire shelf of his bookcase was stuffed full of
dinosaur related books, and when the Wild Animal Park in San Diego offered an animatronic walk
thru of various dinosaurs he begged to go every chance he could. And his little 3 and 4 years old self
loved Jurassic Park. My parents (read: my dad) watched it with him the first few times but after the
fifth or so re watch they let him watch it alone. I hated the movie and the loud sounds made our baby
sister cry, so whenever he started it up again I would carry our sister to a different room and then I
would find something else to do. My brother never showed any signs that seeing dinosaurs attack and
eat people affected him negatively the worst trauma inflicted was when

Essay on The Corruption of the American Dream in The Great...
On April 10, 1925 F. Scott Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby, a novel that would later become
one of the best known pieces of classic literature in history. However, at the time of its publication,
Gatsby was fairly unpopular ad the reviews were never consistent. As shocking as it may seem, I
believe it is because Fitzgerald s intelligence and creativity levels were way ahead of his time, which
is evident when one pays close attention to the themes of the novel. Forgiveness, love, and memory of
the past are just a few themes you will come across in this story. Aside from these, there is one other
theme that is much more dominant and could possibly have been the cause of The Great Gatsby s

If you were, or are, one of those who feel this way you believe that if one does not own the fanciest
clothes, the fastest cars, or the most extravagant house then they simply are not living the American
dream. This materialistic aspect completely disregards happiness, family, and moral values. It is also
the aspect that Fitzgerald seems to focus on the most with The Great Gatsby. In the novel, the main
character, Jay Gatsby is most definitely living the American dream in the sense of materialism. He was
never seen wearing less than the best of suits, and even seeing his shirts drove his love interest, Daisy
to tears. They re such beautiful shirts...I ve never seen such beautiful shirts (Fitzgerald, p. 98). His
mansion was described as looking like the World s fair when he was throwing one of his thrilling
parties. Although the only information Fitzgerald gives us about Gatsby s car is that it was a Rolls
Royce (pg. 35), that is enough to tell us he was not lacking in the fastest cars area. As for the
fundamentally based ideas of the American dream, Jay Gatsby has only a few of them covered. He is
certainly wealthy and prosperous. And if the fact that he can host a party, have the entire town attend,
and repeat every weekend without ever showing his face does not scream high social status , I don t
know what does! The part of this fundamental aspect that Mr. Gatsby is lacking is a family and
happiness.

Chapter I Introduction One of the development goals of the Republic of Indonesia is improving the
quality of human. Theoretically, the example human quality are intelligent, educated and healthy, will
always improve quality and at the same time as members of the community will help to improve the
quality of community life. The role of life quality can be seen from the increase in income, housing
quality, good health and others. But in reality the relationship is not only the unidirectional, but
reciprocity. High quality of life will also affect the quality of the human being. For example, a high
income is able to provide nutritional diversity to the intellectual development of children and the
opportunity to improve higher education. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
B. Indicators of Human Resources To obtain an indicator of adequate human resources is very
difficult, because, as explained in advance, the dimensions of human resources is very broad, which
includes both qualitative and quantitative aspects of the micro and macro scale. The following will
discuss some of the indicators of human resources that can be used to assess the condition of human
resources in an area. Quantitatively, HR can be seen in terms of number, for example the number of
population, number of workers, and the labor force. But keep in mind that in order to obtain a true
picture, these variables need to be combined with other variables, such as level of education, literacy,
skills, and health status (life expectancy) (Widarti, 1993). Other variables that can be used, especially
with regard to aspects of employment is derived variables LUA approach (Labor Utilization
Approach) by Hauser (1974). In this approach the labor force can be divided into the labor force and
are not fully utilized fully. Labor force that is not fully utilized can be divided into not used at all
(unemployed) and underemployed (underemployment). Underemployed can be subdivided into
underemployed according to working hours, wages, and mismatch. Briefly, these variables can be
explained as follows. a. LFPR (labor force participation rate) is the ratio between the number of labor
force to the working age population. b.

How Self Control Is Truly Free Will
In everyday life we have the free will to control every aspect of our lives and actions through our
choices and self control, however there are times when this sense of free will is challenged. In Patricia
Churchland s article she covers how self control is truly free will, it can shape our actions, as well as
habits. Yet, there are reasons why ones own self control could be diminished, for example, the case of
the man who had strangled his own wife in his sleep. Churchland believes that self control is an
application of our free will, and that the two could basically be interchangeable. Using Churchland s
article, you can understand that although self control is the application of our free will, but there are
times where our self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Self control plays a role in what you believe every bit as much as it does in what you decide to do.
(Churchland, 194) In this sense self control could be described as what people confuse as free will. An
example would be the fact that we may not have the free will to choose what we crave, sometimes we
just have an urge to eat junk food due to biological factors, however we can exhibit self control and
resist eating the junk food. In Churchland s article she discusses how we learn self control over time,
that when a person is young they spend years learning right and wrong, and how to execute self
control in situations. As people grow older they use these lessons and reflect on them to understand
how to act in situations. This makes it easier for a person to make their own decisions when it comes
down to it.
However, there can be limits on a person s self control, a factor that constrains a persons ability to
exert their self control. Whether it be an external force or even an internal issue. Churchland uses the
example of Tourette s. In this example, she mentions how someone with Tourette s can suffer from an
over whelming need to commit certain tics. However, there are instances where the subject can

Creative Story Essay
Tyler was tired. He didn t exactly remember why, and he didn t want to try to, either because it would
take too much energy. He could have been doing homework, or he could have been playing video
games. He didn t really care. He said goodnight to Jake, his dog. Surprisingly, he didn t fall asleep
instantaneously. It was like his body didn t want him to sleep.
Suddenly, he was on a tower in a castle. He had a bow, and there were a bunch of zombies below him.
He was aware he was dreaming, but this didn t seem like a nightmare. It was fun, almost like a game.
He wasn t the only one on the tower. A collection of people were also there with him. They didn t look
very medieval, more like Jedi. Tyler had fun defending against the zombies. He had ... Show more

Jake got up, stiffly. Then he lunged at Tyler.
He woke up in a cylindrical room. It had no door, windows, or any way to get out. Tyler couldn t even
understand how he could breathe. He didn t mind having some time to think. He knew that he was
dreaming, and whenever he died in his dream he went to a new dream. It already seemed like it had
been way more than a night of dreaming. Maybe if he went through enough dreams he would wake
up. All he had to do was die in each dream. Tyler laughed.
All I have to do is die in every dream. Never thought I d say that, whispered Tyler. He kept laughing,
then stopped because he probably sounded crazy. Then he got to the task of wondering what he was
going to do. Tyler didn t know how long he waited in the room. It could have been years, it could have
been seconds. Then he noticed that the ground had become slippery. Then it was like the floor was a
puddle. He couldn t find where the water was coming from. It rose to his ankles. Then to his knees. It
kept rising until Tyler could swim in it. Not that he would want to, seeing as the water was freezing
cold. As it rose, it got hotter, until the water was at his shoulders and it was as hot as a hot spring.
Maybe that s where I am. Stuck in some underground hot spring thought Tyler. Luckily, he could
swim, but the water kept rising until it became unbearably hot and he couldn t touch the bottom. He
didn t know whether he would be boiled alive or

Alison Sulloway
In the article Jane Austen and the Province of Womanhood, Alison Sulloway is illustrating the
background of Jane Austen s life and prompting reasons as to why and how Austen became the type of
writer that it was in which she became. In the beginning of the article, Sulloway demonstrates Austen
s advanced style of writing through direct quotations of some of Austen s most popular works. Some
of these works from Austen suggest the type of life she lived, or perhaps was forced to live due the era
in which she grew up constituted for a male gender based influenced/controlled society, such as
hopeless sorrow, or she usually wrote in depressed spirits. In fact, Sulloway does not to fail to
highlight the fact that Austen had been talented in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her opening statement, Austen illustrates the the reasoning for marriage at this time, It is a truth
universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a
wife (Austen 9). For nearly everyone in the eighteenth century, marriage was seen as a business. A man
seeked a wife solely because it was seen as a requirement to be viewed as a resectable addition to
society. Once a man asked a woman for her hand in marriage, the woman would almost always
immediately accept, as it was valued as an honor for a woman to be desired for this type of role. Her
family was to pay her future husband a sum of money in which he saw suitable. Austen s protagonist,
Elizabeth Bennet, contradicts this belief. She finds it ridiculous and in a way humorous that men and
women actually find a status such as this something of honor. In contrast, Elizabeth Bennet feels
marriage should be something that holds greater value than a price tag and a measurement of one s
worthiness for a good reputation, but rather she feels it should be based off of feelings that a man and
woman share for one another. As said by Elizabeth herself, The true perfection of man lies not in what
he has, but in what he is. Jane Austen constructs a way in which Elizabeth Bennet mocks marriages
formulated in the ways in which she disagrees

The best indicator for the health of the banking industry in a country is its level of Non performing assets (NPAs). NPAs are one of the major concerns for banks in India. It reflects the performance of banks. Reduced NPAs generally give the impression that banks have strengthened their credit appraisal processes over the years and growth in NPAs involves the necessity of provisions, which bring down the over all profitability of banks. It is used to catabolize starch into glucose and maltose by lowering the activation energy barrier, and by breaking the alpha 1 4 bonds of amylose and amylopectin and the alpha 1 6 bonds of amylopectin. Amylase is found in one s saliva and pancreas, and Porcrine Pancreatic α Amylase is amylase that has been isolated from the pancreas of a pig. While amylase is effective at breaking down starch, in the normal saliva pH range of 6.02 to 7.14 (Schmidt Nielsen, 1946), any pH environment outside of this range will decrease the reaction rate. This diagram will be further explained throughout the analysis of the different forces and how bad weather affects them (hall, 2015). The diagram displays that weight is the opposing force of lift and is dependent on the mass of all the airplane parts, plus the amount of fuel and any payload on board such as people, baggage and so on (Woodford, Chris, 2009/2017). Weight is also a continuous downward force that planes must constantly overcome to stay in the air by generating enough lift to overcome gravity. As the airplane moves through the air, there are other aerodynamic forces present such as thrust and drag. According to Real World Physics Problems (2009), Thrust is the force that moves the airplane forward which is generated by an engine creating the backward force allowing the plane to move ... • 8. The Moral Heroism Of Antigone By Susan B. Anthony Humans are born with the potential to achieve greatness and to create a difference in the world. Though individuals possess the capacity to prove the immorality within them, they also possess an inner hero that is capable of performing tremendous good for the benefit of others. However, seldom do humans actually embrace the courage to stand up for their ethical principles and to challenge the existing social standards that are organized under strict leadership. Famous figures from Susan B. Anthony to Rosa Parks drew their moral heroism from the heroic action of characters in Greek literature such as Sophocles s Antigone. The protagonist, Antigone, creates a conflict between her allegiances to political law and morals when the Theban king Creon decrees that the body of his nephew, Polyneices, remains unburied. To Creon, it sets a substandard example for the future of Thebes because Polyneices attacked his native city in a battle against the invading army of Argos. Since the morals of Antigone have a close connection with true justice and human well being, she defies Creon s laws and vows to give the proper burial rites to Polyneices as they were presented to her brother Eteocles. Antigone s sacrifice to bury her brother results from a need to embrace family pride, a feeling to satisfy the gods desires, and a responsibility to represent the Theban citizens. However the pacer is also used for the maintenance of inadequate heart rate and rhythm during surgery, postoperative recovery, cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty, certain drug therapies that cause bradycardia and before implantation of a permanent pacemaker. The 30 patients were unable to take part in the study largely because they became tachycardic at baseline postoperatively. Once temporary pacing was placed in the eligible patients, no benefit was determined. Cardiac output did no increase any faster than pediatric surgical patients who did not receive temporary pacing. I like mine fully addicted and ready to waste their life away. It s the best religion that I must say so myself. People wanna go back to the way of smoking in a restaurant and people recommend it, it s a religion that s being created without anyone understanding. I felt that each person in our group was very diverse and unique which made our presentation stand out with having a little bit of individuality from each member in the presentation. Our main goal of communication was to inform the audience on what exactly each ism is, discuss where each one is found, and how the are influenced in today s society. From the start of the group presentation process, I found myself being an emergent leader. With a lack of communication when our group first got together, I felt we were in need of leadership because it seemed nobody else was going to do anything such as getting each others numbers or creating a group name, so I decided to take charge the best I could. As time went on our group started to get our stuff together. With that said if we all began brainstorming and set up some procedural needs from the start, the group would of been on the same page and maybe some wouldn t have waited until the last moment. I was thankful for Jonathan for stepping up and helping the group get started with an outline and focusing on a question of policy along with answering any other questions that arose during the presentation process. • 12. Essay Military Women Should NOT Be Allowed in Combat... There are growing feelings in the United States that, as women are having more rights given to them that were previously restricted, women should be given everything that is offered to men. This is becoming very true in the military, where much sentiment is that women should be given the opportunity to serve in combat arms positions. Women are currently allowed to serve in combat support positions, such as military intelligence and air support positions, but they are not allowed to serve in positions such as infantry, armor, or field artillery. Many believe that it is time to open these positions to women soldiers and allow them to serve in the front lines of combat. Although women are currently allowed to serve in combat support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some counterparts also point out that many men may also be emotionally unstable in the rigors of warfare, so keeping women out of combat positions for this reason is discriminating against women. Overall, many feel that it is crippling to the idea of equality to not allow women to serve in any position that they chose to in the military, and that women should be given the opportunity to prove themselves able to do the job. Women should not be allowed to serve in combat arms positions because many of them are not physically able to perform well in this capacity. It is a known fact that, as a group, men are stronger than women. One of the primary reasons that women are barred from combat arms positions is because their physical strength is inferior to that of men and rightfully so. Combat arms positions requires great physical strength and endurance to perform a multitude of physical tasks, including marching while carrying weapons and heavy gear, hours of physical training, and lifting dead comrades during training exercises. Of course a combat arms soldier s duties are endless, and most of them require much strength and endurance. According to the February 1999 edition of Reader s Digest, a US Navy study revealed that women possess half of the lifting power of men. This report also says that women scoring in the top seven percent torso strength among women scored in the bottom seven percent when compared to men (142). The torso is where most men in ... How Did The Egyptians Influence Greek Math Ancient Greek mathematicians contributed enormously to fundamental math that built up from practical math such as geometry, engineering, astronomy and the astonishing academic contributions to worldly influences. Greek mathematicians would the one of the earliest civilizations to transform mathematics into rational thoughts when viewing all the concepts in the world. In mathematics, a proof is a deductive argument for a mathematical statement and nobody will ever find a counterexample, nor ever gainsay that particular mathematical fact (Krantz). That is why math is based on deductive reasoning and through this mathematicians are reassured on their absolute and proven theories. This also gave the building blocks to the mathematician Euclid and his famous work, the Elements, which proved geometry from deductive reasoning to prove common notions and postulates. Through the Elements, Euclid organized and presented the basics of mathematical knowledge with results that were presented in a formally logical order. • 15. How to Cope with the Promises and Perils of Technology We are all technologists. We all believe in progress. But not all in the same way. The politics of engineering is as complicated as engineering itself, and as contested as man and nature that usually enrich political debates. The mission of an engineer is essentially savoring it, defending it, and improving it, but also coping with it and transcending it. There is nothing especially laudable in romanticizing lost worlds, or pretending that societies without skyscrapers or modern communication are more authentic than our own, or believing that disarming ourselves will make the perils of technological power disappear. May we not fantasize that the present world is necessarily the finest human achievement yet, or that politically necessary and morally justified uses of technological power are wholly innocent. For, they usually are not. Our problem is that of ensuring whether the future we believe in is worthy of our devotion. In other words, it is about how we cope with the promises and perils of technology. Answering this question will require clear thinking about scientific prospects, distinguishing wild speculations from scientific reality, and describing technological possibilities in a way that common man can judge and understand. It will require political leadership with a deeper understanding of engineering, and engineers who accept that technological expertise does not guarantee its balanced application to humanity. • 20. Disadvantages Of Trauma Introduction Many people experience trauma in various aspects of life. These aspects may be behavioral, social, mental and physical. The department of health and human service in the United States claims that 55 95% of women report trauma cases at some point of their life. Tom Wright, who lives in 21st century, asks again. In this book, Wright puts the reader on a time machine and brings them back to Palestine, 1st century and starts the story of historical Jesus . Wright directly goes into the Gospels and talks about Jesus. Put down the ambition of Jews, take away the mystery of history, break the rule of religion, and at the moment when you realize about Jesus real desire, we finally can feel and see the real Jesus. Throughout this book, we discover questions such as Who did Jesus think he was, what was Jesus trying to accomplish and why did he try to do that. Wright not only tries to prove who Jesus is in a theological way but also explains who Jesus was in Jesus world. For both people in Jesus time period and people in today, Jesus was foreign and was different than what people thought as a God . Because of this, we missed the fact that Jesus was standing in the middle of history, culture, and religion. In the Bible, Jesus came to this land as a king and as a Messiah. But what is the relationship between Jesus and us? According to Wright, Jesus is bigger than we and the church can even imagine and people today do not take him seriously. Many philosophers have spent countless years discussing, debating and evaluating such truths. One such influential philosopher is Socrates. Born in Athens in 469 B.C.E, he spent most of his time at the marketplace and other public places engaging in dialogues about truths of life. Among many other things, he discussed virtue and happiness and how closely they are related. This idea of goodness and virtue goes anything beyond worldly values and ideals. A good man cannot be harmed either in life or in death (41d), says Socrates further explaining that no matter what, a better man [cannot] be harmed by a worse (30d). Having virtue gives you a certain happiness that is well beyond life or death or worldly values and goods. So, how exactly does a person become virtuous? Socrates offers suggestions and explanation for this question as well. Socrates claims that one cannot be virtuous accidentally. Just because you commit a virtuous act does not make you virtuous. An understanding of the concept of virtue is equally important as the virtuous act itself. One needs to understand the nature of virtue which requires reflection of virtue and this reflection is only possible once you grasp your own ignorance about the nature of virtue. This understanding of one s own ignorance is human wisdom. So, since being perfectly happy requires being virtuous and being virtuous requires human wisdom, human wisdom is necessary for perfect happiness. So as a person begins to acquire human wisdom which is merely an understanding and acknowledgment of one s own ignorance, they are on their road to acquiring perfect happiness. So what happens to people who cannot acquire human wisdom and in turn cannot be virtuous? Are they denied happiness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Truthfully, I still don t have a solid answer, but looking back on those old memories has given me an interesting perspective. My brother adored dinosaurs as a child. He had a laundry basket full of toy dinosaurs, an entire shelf of his bookcase was stuffed full of dinosaur related books, and when the Wild Animal Park in San Diego offered an animatronic walk thru of various dinosaurs he begged to go every chance he could. And his little 3 and 4 years old self loved Jurassic Park. My parents (read: my dad) watched it with him the first few times but after the fifth or so re watch they let him watch it alone. I hated the movie and the loud sounds made our baby sister cry, so whenever he started it up again I would carry our sister to a different room and then I would find something else to do. My brother never showed any signs that seeing dinosaurs attack and eat people affected him negatively the worst trauma inflicted was when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay on The Corruption of the American Dream in The Great... On April 10, 1925 F. Scott Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby, a novel that would later become one of the best known pieces of classic literature in history. However, at the time of its publication, Gatsby was fairly unpopular ad the reviews were never consistent. As shocking as it may seem, I believe it is because Fitzgerald s intelligence and creativity levels were way ahead of his time, which is evident when one pays close attention to the themes of the novel. Forgiveness, love, and memory of the past are just a few themes you will come across in this story. Aside from these, there is one other theme that is much more dominant and could possibly have been the cause of The Great Gatsby s slight lack of initial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you were, or are, one of those who feel this way you believe that if one does not own the fanciest clothes, the fastest cars, or the most extravagant house then they simply are not living the American dream. This materialistic aspect completely disregards happiness, family, and moral values. It is also the aspect that Fitzgerald seems to focus on the most with The Great Gatsby. In the novel, the main character, Jay Gatsby is most definitely living the American dream in the sense of materialism. He was never seen wearing less than the best of suits, and even seeing his shirts drove his love interest, Daisy to tears. They re such beautiful shirts...I ve never seen such beautiful shirts (Fitzgerald, p. 98). His mansion was described as looking like the World s fair when he was throwing one of his thrilling parties. Although the only information Fitzgerald gives us about Gatsby s car is that it was a Rolls Royce (pg. 35), that is enough to tell us he was not lacking in the fastest cars area. As for the fundamentally based ideas of the American dream, Jay Gatsby has only a few of them covered. He is certainly wealthy and prosperous. And if the fact that he can host a party, have the entire town attend, and repeat every weekend without ever showing his face does not scream high social status , I don t know what does! The part of this fundamental aspect that Mr. Gatsby is lacking is a family and happiness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indicators of Human Resources To obtain an indicator of adequate human resources is very difficult, because, as explained in advance, the dimensions of human resources is very broad, which includes both qualitative and quantitative aspects of the micro and macro scale. The following will discuss some of the indicators of human resources that can be used to assess the condition of human resources in an area. Quantitatively, HR can be seen in terms of number, for example the number of population, number of workers, and the labor force. But keep in mind that in order to obtain a true picture, these variables need to be combined with other variables, such as level of education, literacy, skills, and health status (life expectancy) (Widarti, 1993). Other variables that can be used, especially with regard to aspects of employment is derived variables LUA approach (Labor Utilization Approach) by Hauser (1974). In this approach the labor force can be divided into the labor force and are not fully utilized fully. Labor force that is not fully utilized can be divided into not used at all (unemployed) and underemployed (underemployment). Underemployed can be subdivided into underemployed according to working hours, wages, and mismatch. Briefly, these variables can be explained as follows. a. LFPR (labor force participation rate) is the ratio between the number of labor force to the working age population. b. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. How Self Control Is Truly Free Will In everyday life we have the free will to control every aspect of our lives and actions through our choices and self control, however there are times when this sense of free will is challenged. In Patricia Churchland s article she covers how self control is truly free will, it can shape our actions, as well as habits. Yet, there are reasons why ones own self control could be diminished, for example, the case of the man who had strangled his own wife in his sleep. Churchland believes that self control is an application of our free will, and that the two could basically be interchangeable. Using Churchland s article, you can understand that although self control is the application of our free will, but there are times where our self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Self control plays a role in what you believe every bit as much as it does in what you decide to do. (Churchland, 194) In this sense self control could be described as what people confuse as free will. An example would be the fact that we may not have the free will to choose what we crave, sometimes we just have an urge to eat junk food due to biological factors, however we can exhibit self control and resist eating the junk food. In Churchland s article she discusses how we learn self control over time, that when a person is young they spend years learning right and wrong, and how to execute self control in situations. As people grow older they use these lessons and reflect on them to understand how to act in situations. This makes it easier for a person to make their own decisions when it comes down to it. However, there can be limits on a person s self control, a factor that constrains a persons ability to exert their self control. Whether it be an external force or even an internal issue. Churchland uses the example of Tourette s. In this example, she mentions how someone with Tourette s can suffer from an over whelming need to commit certain tics. However, there are instances where the subject can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He could have been doing homework, or he could have been playing video games. He didn t really care. He said goodnight to Jake, his dog. Surprisingly, he didn t fall asleep instantaneously. He knew that he was dreaming, and whenever he died in his dream he went to a new dream. It already seemed like it had been way more than a night of dreaming. Maybe if he went through enough dreams he would wake up. All he had to do was die in each dream. Tyler laughed. All I have to do is die in every dream. Never thought I d say that, whispered Tyler. He kept laughing, then stopped because he probably sounded crazy. Then he got to the task of wondering what he was going to do. Tyler didn t know how long he waited in the room. It could have been years, it could have been seconds. Then he noticed that the ground had become slippery. Then it was like the floor was a puddle. He couldn t find where the water was coming from. It rose to his ankles. Then to his knees. It kept rising until Tyler could swim in it. Not that he would want to, seeing as the water was freezing cold. As it rose, it got hotter, until the water was at his shoulders and it was as hot as a hot spring. Maybe that s where I am. Stuck in some underground hot spring thought Tyler. • 47. Alison Sulloway In the article Jane Austen and the Province of Womanhood, Alison Sulloway is illustrating the background of Jane Austen s life and prompting reasons as to why and how Austen became the type of writer that it was in which she became. In the beginning of the article, Sulloway demonstrates Austen s advanced style of writing through direct quotations of some of Austen s most popular works. Some of these works from Austen suggest the type of life she lived, or perhaps was forced to live due the era in which she grew up constituted for a male gender based influenced/controlled society, such as hopeless sorrow, or she usually wrote in depressed spirits. In her opening statement, Austen illustrates the the reasoning for marriage at this time, It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife (Austen 9). For nearly everyone in the eighteenth century, marriage was seen as a business. A man seeked a wife solely because it was seen as a requirement to be viewed as a resectable addition to society. Once a man asked a woman for her hand in marriage, the woman would almost always immediately accept, as it was valued as an honor for a woman to be desired for this type of role. Her family was to pay her future husband a sum of money in which he saw suitable. Austen s protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet, contradicts this belief. She finds it ridiculous and in a way humorous that men and women actually find a status such as this something of honor. In contrast, Elizabeth Bennet feels marriage should be something that holds greater value than a price tag and a measurement of one s worthiness for a good reputation, but rather she feels it should be based off of feelings that a man and woman share for one another. As said by Elizabeth herself, The true perfection of man lies not in what he has, but in what he is.
