The Issue Of Revitalization In Newark
Newark is going through a time of revitalization, not gentrification. These new companies create new
job opportunities for the thousands of unemployed residents. There are also many empty acres of land
to construct buildings on, so there won t be a problem about displacement. However, in some parts of
Newark, the issue of racial tension is rising. The upgrading that s taking place in Newark is to support
the need of the residents and decrease many issues occurring in our society. Up to 2000 Newark
residents are unemployed due to factors such as age and education level. This process of revitalization
in Newark can bring a huge decrease to the number of unemployed residents. After reading the article

Some may object that the changes occurring in Newark are signs of gentrification, and not
revitalization. Gentrification is merely the act of changing the society and sometimes even displacing
residents, resulting in isolation and depression. The reason why some people believe that
gentrification is taking place in Newark is because of the racial tension. In the article A Revival in
Newark, but some worry it Not For Us , it is written that Newark s new chapter also has a racial tinge:
The city has been dominated by its large African American population after decades of white residents
leaving for the suburbs, but many of the people drawn by the city s resurgence are white. Although
most of Newark is populated by African Americans, many whites are appealed by our city s renewal
by making our community better. This statement may include how different races/ethnicities are
attracted to Newark, but it doesn t mention how families get isolated because of the changes in the
society. Because of this important detail, it makes a clear difference that Newark is going through
revitalization. Because of the fine line between, revitalization and

Cinema And Neorealism In Cinema
Post World War II, there were many harsh realities that were beginning to come into play in Europe.
There were countries that had been destroyed by the war economically, structurally, and
governmentally. Italy was no stranger to these harsh realities and through these unharmonious times
there was a neorealism movement in cinema that some argue showed the true bitterness of what war
can do to a country through their own lenses. In films like Bicycle Thieves directed by Vittorio De
Sica, you are taken inside the competition for employment and shown the extremities people are
willing to go to in order to be able to provide for their family. There is this adamant portrayal of the
individual in the film, but due to the realistic aspects of the filming you cannot help but to see the
struggles of the people that are all around. There is a clear battle between morality and survival in
Italy and this results in a number off issues for families in lower classes. In order to gain a true
historical glance into post war Italy, it is essential to understand the importance of the neorealist period
following the war and the impact of being able to see these things in cinema. Bicycle thieves is able to
capture that something as small as a bicycle is able to change the entire course of a family s ability to
survive, and show the larger picture of what life was like after the war. This essay will aim to observe
the extent to which this film shows a factual glimpse into their society. This

Essay on Kite Runner-the Importance of Family
The Importance of Family The value of family seems to be obvious in every culture around the world.
After watching the film, Kite Runner and exploring other materials, it is rather noticeable that the
value of family is very important to the Afghan culture. The sense of family roots has driven many to
do things they otherwise would not have done. Families may be the primary motivators for some
people, either as heroic models or as people whom they fear to disappoint. Regardless of what one s
family turns out to be, family is still family. Many people will go to extreme measures to fulfill a duty
that involves family. It may be true that the bond between family members is stronger than any other
bond known to man. The value of family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At a very young age culture and our surroundings teach us that we must keep family close. The
thought of family unity many times will make or break a child. If home life is rough due to family
separation, the child will be greatly affected. Family ties run deep no matter what culture one is a part
of; it just seems to be more evident in the Afghan culture. In the Afghan culture, a dominant sense of
the primary importance of family causes children to want nothing more than to impress their parents.
To impress one s parents in any culture much less the Afghan culture may be one of the biggest most
proud moments of child s life. Such is true when the boys win the kite running competition. Amir
wants nothing more than to impress his father and keep the family name alive and strong. He feels as
if this was a way to redeem himself to his father. The importance of family in this situation stands out
and demonstrates how much the Afghan culture bases itself on family. It is obvious that Amir believes
that nothing is more important than his family. This value of family being first, which he learned at a
very young age, and making them the most important figures in one s life carries with Amir
throughout his whole life. He never forgets where his roots are and why they are there. Family was of
importance to Amir at a young age and he carried that mentality with him throughout his entire life.

Task 4: Explain when and why the inquiries and serious case review processes are required, issues of
how to share findings and implications for the worker s practice.

Comparison of Political History and Development of Nursing...
Comparison of: Political History and Development of Nursing Education between China and Poland
Chinese modern nursing started its evolution in the 1888 when the first formal hospital was opened in
the town of Fuzhou, located in the Fujian province. Chinese medicine has been molded by numerous
western initiatives from the missionary in the 19 century. Particularly, nursing schools and missionary
hospitals, this comprised of 32% of the complete nursing population in the country. The American
influence was profound since it was one of the principal in the region doing major investments.
Individual teachers and nursing professional were the key players in the realization of the early
modernization of nursing in the country. Foundations from America set up medical facilities
facilitating the increase in the spread of nursing in the country. Chinese modern nursing edification
saw an early start compared to the other countries. Politically the government of China faced a period
of nursing halt after the abolishment of the practice. When the government that abolished the practice
collapsed in 1977, the practice came back to normal but left a gap of 30 years deficit in practice and
development of the nursing profession. Therefore, China s nursing practice was significantly
influenced by the political climate particularly the revolution. Ireland on the other hand was the last
developed country to incorporate nursing into the university. The Nightingale model of practice

The Black Timber Is Dark And Silent, Not A Sound
The black timber is dark and silent, not a sound to be heard. The terrain is brutal, almost straight up
and down; therefore, the elk love it due to the challenge hunters have of finding them. As a hunter
walks out of the black timber and onto the next ridge, a few trees and sagebrush fill the mountainside.
The terrain is gradual, the exact opposite of black timber. Wind howls as it comes across the
mountainside, for there is nothing to block it. Monster mule deer graze on the horizon as bighorn
sheep bed down on some rocks; looking out for any situation that may arise. Hunting in the Rockies is
different, for there is a wide variety of people but can all be classified into three different categories:

Hearing his favorite excuses: I get short of breath too easy, I d never be able to walk that far, or I d be
lost if I went up there, is hilarious. Their most famous one is why would somebody actually walk off
the road and climb up the hillside, when somebody can just drive around all day and still see animals.
The Roadhunter never scouts the area before season and does not know what is beyond the first ridge.
The binoculars and rangefinder rest on the dash where they await to be used for looking at the vast
mountain side. No matter how cold or hot it is, all the windows are rolled down, allowing for a true
view of the terrain. A few years while hunting in Colorado, my dad and uncle were chasing a herd of
elk they spotted on the hillside. As they approached the elk and knelt into shooting position, two shots
were fired over their heads. My dad and uncle ran to the nearest boulder and took cover. When they
finally stepped out from the rock, the elk were gone. There was no hope in finding the elk again, so
they just went back to the truck. A few hours later they met a roadhunter who was dragging out a mule
deer, so they stopped to talk to him. During the conversation, the roadhunter showed us where he shot,
and it was right on the other side of where my dad and uncle were chasing the elk. Come to find out,
the elk were scared away by the roadhunter shooting at the mule deer from the road.
Most of the hunters are classified as Mr. Get er Done, or

Registered Nurse Personality Analysis
Finding the best people to work in organizations has peaked over time due to many companies
downsizing (Frankenfield, Kleiner, 2000). For this reason, most organizations are no longer
exclusively relying on interviews in the screening process of new employees. The purpose of pre
employment testing is to aid in predicting future behavior (Bloomquist, Kleiner, 2000). The use of
employment testing has increased over time in order to find and hire the best employee. The
information I plan to collect with this assessment is risky pattern behaviors and emotions that have the
potential to prevent a potential job candidate from being effective in the workplace. For example, the
related constructs that will be analyzed that are associated with ... Show more content on

Additionally, personality tests aid in identifying potential risky behavioral or emotional patterns that
will prevent a potential job candidate from working efficiently and effectively. Traits such as stress
tolerance, initiative, and emotional stability are often measured with personality assessments in order
to determine how successful an individual will be in the organization (Society for Industrial and
Organizational Psychology, 2015). This personality assessment will measure and identify performance
risks centered on personality, and emotional habits related to the healthcare field in the pre hire stage
for a Registered Nurse position. Furthermore, it will help to identify potential risky behaviors
associated with tolerance, openness, stress, excitability, cautiousness, diligence, and boldness. This
assessment will aid in identifying, if any, potential risky patterns that can possibly have a negative
impact on their job effectiveness and relationships, and can bring potential harm to the patients, co
workers, organization, etc. This will be done by analyzing the item responses to each statement and
determining if the response could potentially be a risky behavior in the organization s climate and
culture. While, this assessment can be used to identify potential risky behaviors, it can also display
results that are conducive to constructive emotional and behavioral

Comparing Glaucon s And Socrates Arguments
In Republic II, Glaucon and Socrates pose the question of whether justice is intrinsically good, or
instrumentally good. Further, the two men wish to discover which life is best the just life or the unjust
one. While Glaucon argues that the unjust life is best, Socrates argues that the just life is truly better.
In this paper, I will summarize both Glaucon s and Socrates arguments, and provide a critical analysis
of the opposing views.
Glaucon begins Republic II by describing different types of goods and by placing them into categories
beginning with those that are valued for their own sake (Plato 399). In this category what is good is
not sought after for its ability to achieve something, but only for its inherent worth as an end in itself.
For Glaucon, joy is an intrinsically valuable good that we appreciate merely because it is joyful to
have joy. Glaucon describes the next category of goods as those that not only have intrinsic value, but
also those that provide an additional service such as health (Plato 399). Lastly, Glaucon describes a
category of goods that are valued only for their instrumental ability, and are worthless upon losing said
ability. To elaborate on this last category of goods, a hammer is valued not because it is a hammer, but
because it can hammer and once it can no longer hammer it is no longer valued. Following this
separation of goods, Socrates adopts Glaucon s view and adds to it a new dynamic by ranking the
groups, and placing justice where

Biological Structures And Processes Within An Organism...
Human s body is constantly under attack by: bacteria, viruses and many other microorganisms, these
are called pathogens. Our body is a rich source of water and nutrients that these pathogens need to
survive, it is a perfect environment for them to live and develop. Nevertheless, human s body has its
own way to protect itself from these invaders, therefore most of the time we remain healthy. Immune
system is a system of many biological structures and processes within an organism that provides a
defence against disease. There are three major lines of our defence against pathogens. The first is to
prevent their entry by defences of the skin and mucous membranes in the respiratory, digestive and
urogenital tracts. If this fails, two internal defences takes over: an initial non specific inflammatory
response to injury, or if this unsuccessful, is followed by specific immune response. Two major
divisions of the immune response: non specific and specific.
(Rowland, 1992)
Non specific defence attacks any molecule, which the body recognises as being non self and skin is
the first barrier that antigen needs to pass through. The first layer of the skin epidermis, consist of the
layer of dead skin cells that lack of water and suitable food, which inhibits the growth of micro
organisms inside the epidermis. Sebum, secreted by sebaceous gland in the skin, contains fatty acids,
which are toxic to many microorganisms. Areas that are not covered by the skin have alternative

Powers of Horror by Julia Kristeva, Questions and Answers
To what extent are we all strangers to ourselves , even in our own countries? Answer with reference to
Kristeva s book.
Exile, the reality and practice of being barred from a native country, has prolifically influenced many
philosophers theoretical writings. Indeed, Julia Kristeva being in exile from her native Bulgaria is a
foreigner in an unascertained land. Being an outcast influence s her philosophical, political and
sociological extended essay Strangers to Ourselves published in 1991. The book addresses a problem
that Kristeva has experienced first hand: the struggle of being a foreigner in Western culture and the
difficulties that people and nations have with treating foreigners residing in their motherland. Jealousy
drives our nationalist temperaments and Kristeva explores the figure of the unconscious foreigner in
all of us. Strangers to Ourselves draws on the difficulty that natives have in accepting the stranger
within and if we can come to terms with this notion. The exile is often a foreigner in an unfamiliar
place or a foreigner repressed within the native s unconscious, however a feeling of strangeness can
also occur through an exclusion from the hegemonic rationalism of modern society (Lechte: 79).
There are at least two other forms of exile that can produce the foreign ness in us: being an exile as a
way to thrive intellectually and imaginatively and being alienated as a woman. Historically and in the
contemporary world, natives incite prejudice onto

College Education Is The Question
To Go To College Or Not To Go To College That Is The Question One of the questions that plague
many high school seniors is do I go to college or do I find a min wage job? I for one was one of the
latter seniors I thought I don t need a college education I will be fine making min wage, now 20 years
later here I am learning that a college education does make a difference. Even though I have not yet
completed my degree I can already tell you how much difference a college education has made in my
way of thinking just during two semesters. Have you ever watched a movie and thought how lucky
some of those actors are because they never have to go to college? What if I told you that you were
wrong, a lot of actors and athletes have a college education, and some even went to school after they
became famous. Several of Hollywood s elite actors and actresses understand the importance of higher
education. Natalie Portman majored in psychology from Harvard and graduated in 2003 after she was
already famous. Dakota Fanning is currently studying at NYU years after she first hit the big screen.
After completed the movie series Harry Potter, Emma Watson graduated last year from Brown
University and Oxford. The one actor who stands out the most to me is James Franco, he not only
went to college he graduated from UCLA in 2008, Columbia in 2010, and is currently enrolled at Yale,
while teaching writing classes at UCLA and NYU (Lai). We never realize how lucky we are to be able

Parallelism In Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia...
The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me,
give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life.
Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory, Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he
discusses with the colonists who were under the tyrannical reign of the Crown. Throughout his speech,
Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain, concluding that there
is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneous. In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention,
he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to influence the assembly to
unify and reciprocate.
Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifying loaded words to bring to attention
the predicament between the two opposing sides. Loaded words are terms of influence by employing
positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five, We have petitioned;
we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets the verb of the
sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. Rather than state, We have asked; we
have protested, we have begged, Henry offers more potent terms, such as petitioned, remonstrated and
supplicated, to emphasize how perilous the situation between the two countries is, compelling them to
take action. He continues to underline

This phenomenal change in the international environment in which business is conducted has resulted
in increased levels of foreign direct investment by companies from developed countries in lesser
developed economies such as the Third World as economic benefits were sought through the
globalization of production as well as markets. (Hill 2011, p.5)
With the benefits being widely seen to outweigh the disadvantages smaller companies are looking for
the arrangements internationally that would best serve their interests of growth and expansion with
companies from lesser developed countries now also looking to capitalize as well by creating
synergies at the basic level by expanding their market horizons overseas, penetrating first and
expanding as demand and relationships develop. This shift in the world economy towards greater
integration and interdependence is one way of describing Globalization (Hill 2011, p.7).

Efficiency Increasing System
EFFICIENCY INCREASING SYSTEM BY USING PREHEATING METHOD
METHODOLOGY
The concept of increasing the fuel efficiency of a petrol engine in this project, is to pre heat the intake
air which is flowing through the carburetor. The humidity in the atmospheric air affects the petrol
vapourisation in the carburettor. Therefore, by pre heating the inlet air to the carburettor for a
considerable amount, the vapourisation can be ease and in turn complete combustion is achieved.
Moreover by reducing the water vapour to the engine, the steam formation in the engine can be
reduced pitting of the engine cylinder, piston and exhaust pipe.
The pre heating of inlet air to the engine can be achieved by fixing a heat exchanger inside the exhaust

The air fuel ratio must change depending when maximum Economy or maximum power is required.
Also required air fuel ratio must be provided for transient conditions like starting, warm up, and
acceleration. Further in all conditions the consideration of minimum exhaust emission should be kept
in mind.
For automotive Engines there are three main areas of steady state operation requiring different air fuel
ratios.
1. Idling and Low Load
The no load running made of the Engine is called idling. During idling the air supply is restricted by
the nearly closed throttle and the suction pressure is very low. This condition of low pressure gives
rise to back flow of exhaust gases and air leakage from the various parts of the Engine intake system.
At idling and during part load operation back flow during the valve overlap period occurs since the
exhaust pressure is higher than the intake pressure. This increases the amount of residual gases. The
problem of dilution by residual gases becomes more pronounced at low loads and idling because the
exhaust temperature reduces with decreasing load, i.e., the density and hence mass of the residual
gases increase.
The amount of fresh charge brought in during idling is much less than that during full throttle
operation. The presence of exhaust gas tends to obstruct the contact of fuel and air particles a
requirement necessary for satisfactory combustion. The richening of mixtures increases

things that God has given the human race and we should embrace it. We know these things to be true
because God says, Fill the earth and govern it (Gen.1:28 NLT). In Chapter 1, Ownership, Grudem

Islam is a religion of peace. There are 5 pillars of Islam which are mandatory. The five pillars are,
Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj, I will define the five pillars now.
1. Shahadah: Beleiving that there is no God but Allah, and Muhammad [peace be upon him] is his last

2. Salat: It is the prayers muslims offer five times a day, Fajr, zuhr, asr, maghrib and isha.
3. Zakat: It is to give 2.5% annually of one s saving to the needy people.
4. Sawm: Fasting during the month of Ramadan to learn to have a control over yourself.
5. Hajj: To go to Mekkah and Medina to perform pilgrimage once in a life time at least, if you can

Prohibition In The 20 s
During the Roaring Twenties, the flapper girl s outfit wasn t complete without her hipflask. Flapper
girls were rebellious and rejected society s norms and laws. Similarly, though Prohibition in the 20 s
outlawed alcohol in the US, it was often met with rebellious attitudes and illegal trades, allowing
many to acquire alcohol even during the height of Prohibition. The US today struggle with similar
problems as prohibition on marijuana is often ignored and many black market trades allow people to
have access to marijuana in the US. In the article Today s War on Drugs:Prohibition then and now,
Christopher Bracey, senior associate dean for academic affairs at George Washington University Law
School, reveals that Prohibition in the 20 s and today ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people were not afraid to break the law and acquire alcohol, so many people in the US bribed law
enforcements and completely avoided the law itself. Similarly today, although law enforcement is not
bribed, there are lots of smuggling of drugs into the US, especially through the border with Mexico.
Law enforcement struggles to keep the whole border pacified, and thus, smugglers often past the
border and provided goods. Because of the fact that the public was willing to buy alcohol even though
it was illegal, and the struggles of law enforcement to control the crowd, the Prohibition led to a
failure, and the prohibition on marijuana today is faltering because of this. Since the law enforcement
couldn t handle the smuggling problem, the society continued to do illegal acts to acquire alcohol, thus
undermining and destroying the whole point of Prohibition. Similarly, the US faces a similar problem
with marijuana smuggling. However, though the smuggle of marijuana and the increasing problem of
prohibition on marijuana is evident, the US refuses to legalize marijuana, similar to the actions taken
in the 20 s, hoping that the problem will be fixed soon. Even so, the problem of marijuana prohibition
is clear as the Prohibition in the

Comparing Descartes s Meditation And The Existence Of God
In Descartes philosophy he splits up his train of thought into two portions. Both of the papers discuss
his six mediations and his beliefs on existence of things/people. One of the most important highlight
of his meditations is method of doubt . In his first set meditations Descartes outlines the factors that
determines doubt in a belief. This philosophy is not completely correct to me and not convincing that
they are indubitable. Descartes eliminates the beliefs that many have created through reasoning, but
his method of elimination is very broad. I believe in order to eliminate certain things you must have

Sexual Violence and The Adam Walsh Act
Sexual assault occurs every two minutes in the United States. Sexual violence against women is still
endemic in the United States. Statistics show nearly one in five women have been sexually assaulted.
Managing sex offenders is still an issue in the criminal justice system. Repeat offenders are extremely
difficult to monitor. The national legislature monitoring system contains an absence of effective
research in monitoring sex offenders. Sexual offender registration and notification Act (SORNA)
operates in all the US states and territories. The objective is to monitor and track sex offenders by law
enforcement. Also they provide information to the public and the communities about the offenders.
For example, the National registry allows the public to be informed of a registered offender and their
demographics.
The Adam Walsh Act (AWA) was instilled to create greater uniformity in SORNA systems in all the
US states and territories. SORNA is an essential component of the AWA. The act requires
standardizing the registration of sex offenders, and community notification practices. There are two
ways notification is practiced for registered sex offenders. Communities vary in which way to notify
residents. Some communities choose active notification. Active notification is where residents are
informed that a registered sex offender lives nearby. Residents are notified by phone, mail, or face to
face. The other form of notification that is practiced is called passive notification.

Anti Discriminatory Practice
This essay will consider the prominence of anti judgemental and anti discriminatory practice through
the examination of the chosen article Queer treatments: giving a voice to former patients who received
treatments for their sexual deviation by Dickinson, Cook, Playle and Hallett (2012). The three
significant messages highlighted are the harmful medical practice utilised on the patients, the
criminalisation of homosexuality until 1967 (Dickinson 2010) and the lack of autonomy of nursing
profession. In this essay, the harmful medical practice will be discussed in relation to The Code (NMC
2015), the NHS Constitution (DoH 2015) and the Equality Act (2010).
The National Health Service (NHS) carried out several treatments to cure homosexuality and
transvestism (Dickinson 2010). Chemical aversion therapy involved inducing vomiting by using a
strong emetic, apomorphine, whereas electrical aversion therapy involved the patient receiving electric
shocks. These treatments were enabled by doctors and nurses to alter the sexual orientation of certain
individuals (Dickinson et al 2012). A barbaric torture scene by the Gestapo in Nazi Germany trying to
extract information from me is how Percival Thatcher (Dickinson 2015) described aversion therapy
from his experience. Because of the intensive nature of the chemical aversion therapy, individuals
receiving chemical aversion therapy were inpatients at psychiatric wards (Smith et al. 2004). This

An Analysis of Succession Planning as a Strategy for...
1. INTRODUCTION
Built on the idea of change, the roots of succession planning (SP) lie within anthropology and the
study of kinship (Fox, 1967, pp. 16 7, 1993; Fortes, 1970, p. 305; Parkin, 1997, pp. 22 3, 127). Early
work into business succession by authors such as Christensen (1953), Gouldner (1954), Trow (1961),
and Guest (1962) helped to fuel its dissemination into a wider management context, which in the
present day encompasses leadership planning, change management, human resources, and indeed
almost any area of business involving change. While it may not have received as much attention in the
general management literature as one might expect, it is unarguably a critical issue for any
corporation, team, or individual, to consider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The clear message that can be gleaned from all this is that succession planning is a global issue, yet it
is an area where comparatively little rigorous research has been carried out, particularly with respect
to methods of application. The aim of this paper is to synthesize the available evidence in order to
provide a broad reflection of how succession planning affects various types of businesses, to report on
approaches towards the use of succession planning including barriers against it and financial and legal
matters, to identify evidence relating to best practice, and to highlight gaps where further work might
justifiably be carried out.

2.1. Concept of Manpower Planning
As obtained in the literature, several studies have argued asserting that the function of personnel in
contemporary organizations is undergoing a radical transformation; departing from the era of
personnel administration to a concept of comprehensive and integrative approach that focuses on the
adequate utilization and development of human resources (Burack, amp; Gutteridge, 1978; Fitzgerald,
1992; Bjornberg, 2002; Alphander, 1980). This new concept is referred to by several names such as
human resource planning, manpower planning, human resource management, etc.
This concept has been defined by different authors in various ways and the only conclusion is that

Emily Dickinson gardened throughout her life. At age eleven, she announced to a friend, My Plants

her father added to the Homestead. Dickinson once said, My flowers are near and foreign, and I have

Dickinson s mother is generally credited with instilling in both Emily and her sister Lavinia a love of
gardening. Mrs. Dickinson was also known for her ability with sensitive plants, receiving a
commendation from the local paper, the Express, for her delicious ripe figs, a great rarity in New
England (Years and Hours, Vol. 1, p. 359).
Emily Dickinson also learned about plants in botany courses at both Amherst Academy and Mount
Holyoke Female Seminary. During her school years she assembled a broad herbarium (a book of
pressed plants) that included more than 400 specimens, each labeled by the poet with its Latin name.
The herbarium, now in the collection of the Houghton Library at Harvard University, demonstrates
Dickinson s intimate familiarity with her natural surroundings.
In the Homestead garden, Emily, Lavinia and Mrs. Dickinson grew a great variety of flowering plants:
shrubs, climbing vines, annuals, perennials and bulbs. Although the exact location of the flower beds

Vertical Ears Momentum
Many researchers are interested in the generation of angular momentum during turning dance
movements. In a study on the pirouette en dehors, researchers found that skilled dancers generate
larger vertical angular momentum as the number of turns increases by predominantly increasing the
rate of momentum generation. Angular momentum is generated when the dancer applies a torque
about the vertical axis by pushing sideways in opposite directions with both feet. The normal fourth
position preparation is ideal for creating this angular momentum as the feet exert equal horizontal
forces in opposite directions to produce the twisting effect, or torque (Kim et al., 2014). Thus, the
vertical angular momentum is generated from the torque applied by the feet through the foot. In their
book, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The action of the push off foot and the leg is the most important in determining the effectiveness of a
traveling leap. To maximize the height and distance, the dancer should turn his or her foot in so that it
points in the direction of the motion. This creates a large available angle of extension during the
takeoff, creating an overall strong leap (Laws Sugano, 2008). Additionally, according to a study
conducted on the effect of jumping distance on component ankle and knee joint axial forces generated
during the landing phase of traveling jumps, dancers must develop more horizontal velocity during
longer jumps to travel farther in the same amount of time as shorter jumps. The results of a study
found that, at longer jump distances, there were significant increases for the peak horizontal ground
reaction forces, as predicted. However, the peak ground reaction forces increased at greater jump
distances, which was not anticipated. Therefore, at greater jump distances, greater knee extensor
movements were required to reduce the vertical momentum of the body (Simpson Kanter,

A Summary Of The Bell Jar
1. List the major topics/issues Sylvia Plath explores in The Bell Jar (at least four). To what extent are
the issues still relevant today? The major topics explored in The Bell Jar include the inferiority of
women, the wrongful treatment of the mentally ill, sexuality and the double standard for men and
women on sex, and conformity to society s expectations. The inferiority of women refers to society s
view that women are subordinate to men, and are supposed to serve men after marriage, become
housewives, and bear babies. This perception of women in today s society has largely declined, due to
the constant call for gender equality. While there still exist the suppression and discrimination of
women, the proponents of which are heavily condemned. The wrongful treatment of the mentally ill at
the time includes the overall perception that mentally ill is a choice not a serious disease, the
condemnation and alienation resulting from that perception, and the doctors indifferent, sometimes
inhumane attitude toward the mentally ill, which includes electro shock and solitary confinement.
With great advancements in the medical field on mental conditions and an increase in people with
mental disease, today people are generally sympathetic toward the mentally ill, who are treated
appropriately by the doctors. Plath also highlights the issue of the double standards for men and
women on sex, where men can pursue sexual intercourses freely, but women are supposed to keep
chastity until marriage. Esther is troubled by this double standard throughout the novel, regarding sex
as how a man controls a woman, and that she would only become free and own her body after she
does a fitting for birth control, and loses virginity to Irwin, whom she will never see again. This issue
has become relatively irrelevant today, as premarital sex is not considered a moral issue anymore. In
the novel, Esther constantly struggles between being herself and conforming to society s expectations.
In Esther s case, the society expects her to become a housewife and stop pursuing her passion once she
is married. Confronting against society s expectations, Esther feels at times hopeless and disillusioned.
This issue is still relevant today,

melodic, repetitive. But as we look at the press that surrounds both the song and its music video we
find a controversy surrounding sexual violence and objectification. There can be no question of a need
of such discussion in regards to the themes that Animals the music video brings to light. That being
said, the question in this discussion should not be whether it promotes these topics but rather if it does
a good enough job of making the audience critically aware that these problems exist. This will be done
by looking at the video and its song from a radical Feminist perspective. Bell Hooks defines Feminism
as, a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression. And the first step of ending these
things is showing how they are a part of our culture which this video does brillintly. The music video

1. Goal Lab 01, being the first lab, facilitated the initial creation of our VMware vApp along with our
preliminary network within. The main goal of the lab was to familiarize oneself with the Remote
Laboratory Emulation System (RLES) and create a basic network utilizing the system. The basic
network we created with RLES had 4 requirements: a pfSense router, a Red Hat Enterprise Linux
(RHEL) 7 server, a monitoring solution, and a wiki. By installing and configuring these operating
systems / services, I was able to better familiarize myself with both RLES and the services
themselves. An important part of creating and administering a network is the selection of what
services and operating systems to use. Some choices were specified in the lab instructions, such as the
requirement to use RHEL 7, while others were left for me to decide as the System Administrator. For
the router, I went with the suggested option of pfSense, and learned both how to install and configure
the OS. My next action was to install and configure a Wiki so I could document all following installs.
I chose to create a separate VM for the wiki running Ubuntu 14.04 as I am most familiar with this OS.
The wiki solution itself I chose to install was MediaWiki, thus I learned how to install and configure
said service. The final server I configured was a RHEL 7 machine, as specified in the lab. I chose
Nagios 4 as my monitoring solution, and the learning curve was quite steep, but achievable. Besides

A Study On Dry Needling
Dry needling is currently one of the scope of practice battles encountered in the physical therapy
profession. The hot topic is extremely controversial and is not only debated by physical therapists, but
by acupuncturists as well. The primary issue concerning dry needling is whether this technique fits
within the Physical Therapist Scope of Practice. The controversial aspect emerges since dry needling
is technically considered minimally invasive. Another issue that has appeared is the insufficient
amount of research conducted. In addition, dry needling is not currently included in the DPT program
curriculum. Therefore, physical therapists who want to acquire this skill are required to take a
continuing education course. Furthermore, there are currently only 18 locations in the United States
that offer dry needling education courses for physical therapists (APTA, 2012). Another issue
concerning dry needling is how this technique should be coded and billed. This being said, it is illegal
for physical therapists in New York, Idaho, Tennessee, Hawaii, and South Dakota to perform dry
needling in their practice (APTA, 2012). For example, Hawaii prohibits physical therapists from
puncturing skin under any circumstances (APTA, 2012). Although, dry needling is not considered
illegal in the other states, the state regulatory boards have not confirmed that it fits within the Physical
Therapist Scope of Practice. Furthermore, the APTA has even began contacting

Case Study on Baby Ryan
At the age of two months baby Ryan suffered from cardiac arrest 9 days after receiving his second
injection of Hepatitis B vaccine (HBV) . He was successfully resuscitated at Coney Island Hospital in
New York. His chest x ray and CT scan showed evidence of pulmonary edema, bleeding, and
pneumonia. A CT exam of his had showed brain edema. He had a blood Ph of 6.83 and a potassium
level of 6.0 mEq/L. He was stabilized and transferred to Maimonides Medical Center (MMC).Blood
test performed on baby Ryan at MMC revealed that Ryan had an elevated band neutrophil count,
hyperglycemia, hyperkalemia, hyperammonimia, hemolytic anemia, liver damage, hypophosphatemia,
and hypermagnesium. His PT, PTT, and INR were elevated. Ryan was treated with four types of
antibiotics and other medications.
Ryan had an MRI head exam and eye exam performed at 8 and 9 days after admission. Ryan s MRI
showed intracranial bleeding and his eye exam revealed retinal bleeding. They accused Ryan s father
for his injuries by shaking him vigorously (Shaken Baby Syndrome) (Strokes, 2014). The court
believed that the infection with Streptococcus pneumonia caused Ryan s illness and led to the
development of hemorrhagic pneumonia, hemolytic uremic syndrome, kidney and liver problems,
hepatic encephalopathy, seizure, coma, and cardiac arrest. They likely causes of Ryan s intracranial
and retinal bleeding are liver damage, infections, vitamin K deficiency and severe anemia. The

Preventing Teenage Suicide In The United States
Did you know that there are more deaths by suicide than homicide in the United States? There are
ninety four people that die everyday from suicide, and another one million people attempt suicide in
the United States everyday ( Suicide in... ). In the 1980s and the 1990s, the amount of suicides were
heading in the right direction they were decreasing. It had been decreasing steadily since 1986, and
then what happened is there was a turnaround, says Sally Curtin (Bichell). In order to prevent teenage
suicide, individuals should be aware of the reasons why teenagers commit suicide as well as how to
identify the warning signs, and they should understand the affects of suicide on others and how to
cope with depression and stress.

First of all, people that tend to go through depression do not receive enough sleep or enough rest. The
amount of sleep that a person that is going through depression should sleep eight hours every night.
Also, people that go through depression do not really do anything much. Depressed people can better
cope if they pick up a hobby or sport they like to do. Participating in a hobby or sport may help them
stay connected with other people. Staying connected with people that make individuals happy and
make that individual laugh and smile makes a big difference in battling with depression and an
individual s outlook. In other words, for someone who is going through depression, social support is a
big factor in dealing with depression and stress (Smith). In particular, one way to prevent depression is
to meet with a group of friends and talk about what is happening in life, good or bad, which may cause
tears or laughter, but either way will help (Blumenstein 118). When all is said and done, it is never too
late to start a new friendship or improving relationships with friends and family (Smith). In order to
help teenagers through the depressing times, those around them need to make sure they receive
enough rest, and are involved in a hobby, and help them stay connected with

The Poetry of Wallace Stevens
Though Wallace Stevens commonly uses a blank verse writing style in his poetry, staying true to the
style s definition of unrhymed lines with consistent meter, Sunday Morning differs from the poet s
other work as he maintains consistency in stanza structure as well. Here, each of the eight stanzas
consists of 15 feet and contain 10 beats per line (classic iambic pentameter). This extremely organized
structure seems ironic, as the poem s theme involves the death of Christianity and organized religion.
However, it also lends to Stevens message of the importance of life and death, and the immaculate
nature and consistency seen in earth s life cycles. Sunday Morning is an example of Wallace Stevens
romantic period writing style, as he articulates the human connection to nature and the existence of
spirituality within ones physical surroundings.
The uncompromising structure of the poem provides a meditative rhythm (showing Stevens
connection to Milton and the romanic era) as the speaker reflects on the relationship between oneself
and the natural environment. Simultaneously, Stevens use of blank verse and inclusion of both
enjambments and end stopped lines allows for artistic exploration, mirroring a human thought pattern
and the speaker s mental exploration of personal beliefs. The syntax resembles a racing mind, as the
sentence structure is the only aspect of the poem that does not follow a strict pattern. This is evident as
the speaker ponders a Pagan perspective,

The Ethics Of Care Ethics
Care Ethics (Feminist Ethics) is the importance of caring relationships in life whether its human or
animal related. The main goal of care ethics is to maintain and promote caring relationships. Care
ethics involves helping both yourself and the world around you. It gives you the motivation to care for
others beside yourself. Care ethics according to the article is more a general approach than a theory in
regards to other ethical practices. The goal of care ethics is to show that women have the same equal
rights as men and that they both have freedoms of their own. This is important as this is helping to
address equality among the human race. Care ethics as a whole revolves around emotions.
Care ethic believers preach that having emotions helps you to think and feel for others. The goal in
emotions is to focus on the wants and needs of the one being cared for. They believe through this they
can relate to others in their needs. An example that the article gives is the mother child relationship. If
a child wants something to eat, the mother of that child knows best what the child needs. This is due to
the caring motherly nature that mothers have. Also, caring helps to motivate us to tend to those, even
if we are exhausted, and angry. The difference between care ethics and utilitarianism is that utilitarian
s do not believe that emotions are helping them to choose right or wrong in any situation. They believe
that through calculations, they can

San Juan Argentina Research Paper
Ever since we where young, most of our parents would remind us to appreciate what we have and that
we should realize how luck we are. I remember all the lectures I would receive from my parents and
my teachers whenever I acted spoiled or selfish. The never failed to mention that I was very lucky and
that I should never take people, technology and my living situation for granted. Until my trip to San
Juan, Argentina, I never fully understood what my parents had meant. That trip really put into
perspective how lucky I was and it taught me how to appreciate the things I had.
It had been 14 years since my family had been to our hometown in San Juan, Argentina. Our
hometown was a small city in the province of San Juan, Argentina. It is very small ... Show more

We drove to my uncle, Mauricio s house, which was where we were going to be staying. His house
was a lot more like the houses in the U.S., the outside sidewalk was paved, the inside was tiled, the
walls were painted, and there were air conditioners in all of the rooms of the house. Despite its very
put together appearance, it was not exactly the same as the houses in my neighborhood in Florida.
There were wires coming out of holes in the walls and there wasn t any Internet connection except for
in one room. Once I had settled in my cousin s room I took out my charger and looked for an outlet,
upon finding an outlet I noticed that the holes in the outlet where round instead of rectangular. My
cousin noticed my distress and let me borrow her charger that matched the outlet. It took me a while to
get accustomed to how different it was in San Juan. The first week consisted of sweating, useless
phones, and lack of communication with the outside world. All of my electronics where completely
useless and it really threw me of my original daily routine. I had to remember to kiss everyone once
on each cheek when greeting them. At times I would forget to do so and my parents would later scold
me and tell me that I came off as rude or impolite. Then I had to help wash all of our laundry in the
stream and then put it on the clothesline to dry. The first few times I washed my clothes I accidentally
let some get carried away by the stream and I had to chase the clothes down for a couple of blocks. I
had to do the dishes instead of using a dishwasher and on more than one occasion I had dropped a
plate. I also had to wake up for breakfast, then lunch and then find a way to entertain myself without
electronics for three hours until siesta or nap time was over. Siesta, was from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at
this time all businesses would close and take a break, for lunch or just sleep. I always found myself
wanting to go to the

These new companies create new job opportunities for the thousands of unemployed residents. There are also many empty acres of land to construct buildings on, so there won t be a problem about displacement. However, in some parts of Newark, the issue of racial tension is rising. The upgrading that s taking place in Newark is to support the need of the residents and decrease many issues occurring in our society. Up to 2000 Newark residents are unemployed due to factors such as age and education level. This process of revitalization in Newark can bring a huge decrease to the number of unemployed residents. Some may object that the changes occurring in Newark are signs of gentrification, and not revitalization. Gentrification is merely the act of changing the society and sometimes even displacing residents, resulting in isolation and depression. The reason why some people believe that gentrification is taking place in Newark is because of the racial tension. In the article A Revival in Newark, but some worry it Not For Us , it is written that Newark s new chapter also has a racial tinge: The city has been dominated by its large African American population after decades of white residents leaving for the suburbs, but many of the people drawn by the city s resurgence are white. Although most of Newark is populated by African Americans, many whites are appealed by our city s renewal by making our community better. This statement may include how different races/ethnicities are attracted to Newark, but it doesn t mention how families get isolated because of the changes in the society. Because of this important detail, it makes a clear difference that Newark is going through revitalization. Because of the fine line between, revitalization and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cinema And Neorealism In Cinema Post World War II, there were many harsh realities that were beginning to come into play in Europe. There were countries that had been destroyed by the war economically, structurally, and governmentally. Italy was no stranger to these harsh realities and through these unharmonious times there was a neorealism movement in cinema that some argue showed the true bitterness of what war can do to a country through their own lenses. In films like Bicycle Thieves directed by Vittorio De Sica, you are taken inside the competition for employment and shown the extremities people are willing to go to in order to be able to provide for their family. There is this adamant portrayal of the individual in the film, but due to the realistic aspects of the filming you cannot help but to see the struggles of the people that are all around. There is a clear battle between morality and survival in Italy and this results in a number off issues for families in lower classes. In order to gain a true historical glance into post war Italy, it is essential to understand the importance of the neorealist period following the war and the impact of being able to see these things in cinema. Bicycle thieves is able to capture that something as small as a bicycle is able to change the entire course of a family s ability to survive, and show the larger picture of what life was like after the war. This essay will aim to observe the extent to which this film shows a factual glimpse into their society. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After watching the film, Kite Runner and exploring other materials, it is rather noticeable that the value of family is very important to the Afghan culture. The sense of family roots has driven many to do things they otherwise would not have done. Families may be the primary motivators for some people, either as heroic models or as people whom they fear to disappoint. Regardless of what one s family turns out to be, family is still family. The thought of family unity many times will make or break a child. If home life is rough due to family separation, the child will be greatly affected. In the Afghan culture, a dominant sense of the primary importance of family causes children to want nothing more than to impress their parents. To impress one s parents in any culture much less the Afghan culture may be one of the biggest most proud moments of child s life. Such is true when the boys win the kite running competition. Comparison of: Political History and Development of Nursing Education between China and Poland Chinese modern nursing started its evolution in the 1888 when the first formal hospital was opened in the town of Fuzhou, located in the Fujian province. Chinese medicine has been molded by numerous western initiatives from the missionary in the 19 century. The American influence was profound since it was one of the principal in the region doing major investments. Individual teachers and nursing professional were the key players in the realization of the early modernization of nursing in the country. Foundations from America set up medical facilities facilitating the increase in the spread of nursing in the country. Chinese modern nursing edification saw an early start compared to the other countries. Politically the government of China faced a period of nursing halt after the abolishment of the practice. When the government that abolished the practice collapsed in 1977, the practice came back to normal but left a gap of 30 years deficit in practice and development of the nursing profession. The terrain is brutal, almost straight up and down; therefore, the elk love it due to the challenge hunters have of finding them. Wind howls as it comes across the mountainside, for there is nothing to block it. For this reason, most organizations are no longer exclusively relying on interviews in the screening process of new employees. The use of employment testing has increased over time in order to find and hire the best employee. Traits such as stress tolerance, initiative, and emotional stability are often measured with personality assessments in order to determine how successful an individual will be in the organization (Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, 2015). This personality assessment will measure and identify performance risks centered on personality, and emotional habits related to the healthcare field in the pre hire stage for a Registered Nurse position. Furthermore, it will help to identify potential risky behaviors associated with tolerance, openness, stress, excitability, cautiousness, diligence, and boldness. This assessment will aid in identifying, if any, potential risky patterns that can possibly have a negative impact on their job effectiveness and relationships, and can bring potential harm to the patients, co workers, organization, etc. This will be done by analyzing the item responses to each statement and determining if the response could potentially be a risky behavior in the organization s climate and culture. • 9. Comparing Glaucon s And Socrates Arguments In Republic II, Glaucon and Socrates pose the question of whether justice is intrinsically good, or instrumentally good. Further, the two men wish to discover which life is best the just life or the unjust one. While Glaucon argues that the unjust life is best, Socrates argues that the just life is truly better. In this paper, I will summarize both Glaucon s and Socrates arguments, and provide a critical analysis of the opposing views. Glaucon begins Republic II by describing different types of goods and by placing them into categories beginning with those that are valued for their own sake (Plato 399). In this category what is good is not sought after for its ability to achieve something, but only for its inherent worth as an end in itself. For Glaucon, joy is an intrinsically valuable good that we appreciate merely because it is joyful to have joy. Glaucon describes the next category of goods as those that not only have intrinsic value, but also those that provide an additional service such as health (Plato 399). Lastly, Glaucon describes a category of goods that are valued only for their instrumental ability, and are worthless upon losing said ability. To elaborate on this last category of goods, a hammer is valued not because it is a hammer, but because it can hammer and once it can no longer hammer it is no longer valued. Following this separation of goods, Socrates adopts Glaucon s view and adds to it a new dynamic by ranking the groups, and placing justice where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our body is a rich source of water and nutrients that these pathogens need to survive, it is a perfect environment for them to live and develop. Nevertheless, human s body has its own way to protect itself from these invaders, therefore most of the time we remain healthy. Immune system is a system of many biological structures and processes within an organism that provides a defence against disease. There are three major lines of our defence against pathogens. The first is to prevent their entry by defences of the skin and mucous membranes in the respiratory, digestive and urogenital tracts. If this fails, two internal defences takes over: an initial non specific inflammatory response to injury, or if this unsuccessful, is followed by specific immune response. Two major divisions of the immune response: non specific and specific. (Rowland, 1992) Non specific defence attacks any molecule, which the body recognises as being non self and skin is the first barrier that antigen needs to pass through. The first layer of the skin epidermis, consist of the layer of dead skin cells that lack of water and suitable food, which inhibits the growth of micro organisms inside the epidermis. Exile, the reality and practice of being barred from a native country, has prolifically influenced many philosophers theoretical writings. Indeed, Julia Kristeva being in exile from her native Bulgaria is a foreigner in an unascertained land. Being an outcast influence s her philosophical, political and sociological extended essay Strangers to Ourselves published in 1991. The book addresses a problem that Kristeva has experienced first hand: the struggle of being a foreigner in Western culture and the difficulties that people and nations have with treating foreigners residing in their motherland. Jealousy drives our nationalist temperaments and Kristeva explores the figure of the unconscious foreigner in all of us. Strangers to Ourselves draws on the difficulty that natives have in accepting the stranger within and if we can come to terms with this notion. The exile is often a foreigner in an unfamiliar place or a foreigner repressed within the native s unconscious, however a feeling of strangeness can also occur through an exclusion from the hegemonic rationalism of modern society (Lechte: 79). There are at least two other forms of exile that can produce the foreign ness in us: being an exile as a way to thrive intellectually and imaginatively and being alienated as a woman. The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life. Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory, Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he discusses with the colonists who were under the tyrannical reign of the Crown. Throughout his speech, Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain, concluding that there is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneous. In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention, he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to influence the assembly to unify and reciprocate. Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifying loaded words to bring to attention the predicament between the two opposing sides. Loaded words are terms of influence by employing positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five, We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets the verb of the sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. Rather than state, We have asked; we have protested, we have begged, Henry offers more potent terms, such as petitioned, remonstrated and supplicated, to emphasize how perilous the situation between the two countries is, compelling them to take action. Efficiency Increasing System EFFICIENCY INCREASING SYSTEM BY USING PREHEATING METHOD METHODOLOGY The concept of increasing the fuel efficiency of a petrol engine in this project, is to pre heat the intake air which is flowing through the carburetor. The humidity in the atmospheric air affects the petrol vapourisation in the carburettor. Therefore, by pre heating the inlet air to the carburettor for a considerable amount, the vapourisation can be ease and in turn complete combustion is achieved. Moreover by reducing the water vapour to the engine, the steam formation in the engine can be reduced pitting of the engine cylinder, piston and exhaust pipe. The air fuel ratio must change depending when maximum Economy or maximum power is required. Also required air fuel ratio must be provided for transient conditions like starting, warm up, and acceleration. Further in all conditions the consideration of minimum exhaust emission should be kept in mind. For automotive Engines there are three main areas of steady state operation requiring different air fuel ratios. 1. Idling and Low Load The no load running made of the Engine is called idling. During idling the air supply is restricted by the nearly closed throttle and the suction pressure is very low. This condition of low pressure gives rise to back flow of exhaust gases and air leakage from the various parts of the Engine intake system. At idling and during part load operation back flow during the valve overlap period occurs since the exhaust pressure is higher than the intake pressure. This increases the amount of residual gases. The problem of dilution by residual gases becomes more pronounced at low loads and idling because the exhaust temperature reduces with decreasing load, i.e., the density and hence mass of the residual gases increase. The amount of fresh charge brought in during idling is much less than that during full throttle operation. The presence of exhaust gas tends to obstruct the contact of fuel and air particles a requirement necessary for satisfactory combustion. The richening of mixtures increases ... Anti Discriminatory Practice This essay will consider the prominence of anti judgemental and anti discriminatory practice through the examination of the chosen article Queer treatments: giving a voice to former patients who received treatments for their sexual deviation by Dickinson, Cook, Playle and Hallett (2012). The three significant messages highlighted are the harmful medical practice utilised on the patients, the criminalisation of homosexuality until 1967 (Dickinson 2010) and the lack of autonomy of nursing profession. In this essay, the harmful medical practice will be discussed in relation to The Code (NMC 2015), the NHS Constitution (DoH 2015) and the Equality Act (2010). The National Health Service (NHS) carried out several treatments to cure homosexuality and transvestism (Dickinson 2010). Chemical aversion therapy involved inducing vomiting by using a strong emetic, apomorphine, whereas electrical aversion therapy involved the patient receiving electric shocks. • 28. An Analysis of Succession Planning as a Strategy for... 1. INTRODUCTION Built on the idea of change, the roots of succession planning (SP) lie within anthropology and the study of kinship (Fox, 1967, pp. 16 7, 1993; Fortes, 1970, p. 305; Parkin, 1997, pp. 22 3, 127). Early work into business succession by authors such as Christensen (1953), Gouldner (1954), Trow (1961), and Guest (1962) helped to fuel its dissemination into a wider management context, which in the present day encompasses leadership planning, change management, human resources, and indeed almost any area of business involving change. While it may not have received as much attention in the general management literature as one might expect, it is unarguably a critical issue for any corporation, team, or individual, to consider ... The clear message that can be gleaned from all this is that succession planning is a global issue, yet it is an area where comparatively little rigorous research has been carried out, particularly with respect to methods of application. The aim of this paper is to synthesize the available evidence in order to provide a broad reflection of how succession planning affects various types of businesses, to report on approaches towards the use of succession planning including barriers against it and financial and legal matters, to identify evidence relating to best practice, and to highlight gaps where further work might justifiably be carried out. 2. Concept of Manpower Planning As obtained in the literature, several studies have argued asserting that the function of personnel in contemporary organizations is undergoing a radical transformation; departing from the era of personnel administration to a concept of comprehensive and integrative approach that focuses on the adequate utilization and development of human resources (Burack, amp; Gutteridge, 1978; Fitzgerald, 1992; Bjornberg, 2002; Alphander, 1980). This new concept is referred to by several names such as human resource planning, manpower planning, human resource management, etc. This concept has been defined by different authors in various ways and the only conclusion is that manpower planning is referred to as the total package of the personnel related ... Emily Dickinson s Life In the sophisticated world of plants, as well as the wildflowers, trees, and shrubs that made up Emily Dickinson s Amherst, provided the poet with a constant source of inspiration and companionship. Emily Dickinson also learned about plants in botany courses at both Amherst Academy and Mount Holyoke Female Seminary. During her school years she assembled a broad herbarium (a book of pressed plants) that included more than 400 specimens, each labeled by the poet with its Latin name. The herbarium, now in the collection of the Houghton Library at Harvard University, demonstrates Dickinson s intimate familiarity with her natural surroundings. In a study on the pirouette en dehors, researchers found that skilled dancers generate larger vertical angular momentum as the number of turns increases by predominantly increasing the rate of momentum generation. Angular momentum is generated when the dancer applies a torque about the vertical axis by pushing sideways in opposite directions with both feet. The normal fourth position preparation is ideal for creating this angular momentum as the feet exert equal horizontal forces in opposite directions to produce the twisting effect, or torque (Kim et al., 2014). Additionally, according to a study conducted on the effect of jumping distance on component ankle and knee joint axial forces generated during the landing phase of traveling jumps, dancers must develop more horizontal velocity during longer jumps to travel farther in the same amount of time as shorter jumps. The results of a study found that, at longer jump distances, there were significant increases for the peak horizontal ground reaction forces, as predicted. • 40. A Summary Of The Bell Jar 1. List the major topics/issues Sylvia Plath explores in The Bell Jar (at least four). To what extent are the issues still relevant today? The major topics explored in The Bell Jar include the inferiority of women, the wrongful treatment of the mentally ill, sexuality and the double standard for men and women on sex, and conformity to society s expectations. The inferiority of women refers to society s view that women are subordinate to men, and are supposed to serve men after marriage, become housewives, and bear babies. This perception of women in today s society has largely declined, due to the constant call for gender equality. While there still exist the suppression and discrimination of women, the proponents of which are heavily condemned. The wrongful treatment of the mentally ill at the time includes the overall perception that mentally ill is a choice not a serious disease, the condemnation and alienation resulting from that perception, and the doctors indifferent, sometimes inhumane attitude toward the mentally ill, which includes electro shock and solitary confinement. With great advancements in the medical field on mental conditions and an increase in people with mental disease, today people are generally sympathetic toward the mentally ill, who are treated appropriately by the doctors. Plath also highlights the issue of the double standards for men and women on sex, where men can pursue sexual intercourses freely, but women are supposed to keep chastity until marriage. Esther is troubled by this double standard throughout the novel, regarding sex as how a man controls a woman, and that she would only become free and own her body after she does a fitting for birth control, and loses virginity to Irwin, whom she will never see again. This issue has become relatively irrelevant today, as premarital sex is not considered a moral issue anymore. In the novel, Esther constantly struggles between being herself and conforming to society s expectations. In Esther s case, the society expects her to become a housewife and stop pursuing her passion once she is married. Confronting against society s expectations, Esther feels at times hopeless and disillusioned. This issue is still relevant today, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The hot topic is extremely controversial and is not only debated by physical therapists, but by acupuncturists as well. The primary issue concerning dry needling is whether this technique fits within the Physical Therapist Scope of Practice. The controversial aspect emerges since dry needling is technically considered minimally invasive. Another issue that has appeared is the insufficient amount of research conducted. In addition, dry needling is not currently included in the DPT program curriculum. Therefore, physical therapists who want to acquire this skill are required to take a continuing education course. Furthermore, there are currently only 18 locations in the United States that offer dry needling education courses for physical therapists (APTA, 2012). Another issue concerning dry needling is how this technique should be coded and billed. This being said, it is illegal for physical therapists in New York, Idaho, Tennessee, Hawaii, and South Dakota to perform dry needling in their practice (APTA, 2012). For example, Hawaii prohibits physical therapists from puncturing skin under any circumstances (APTA, 2012). • 46. The Poetry of Wallace Stevens Though Wallace Stevens commonly uses a blank verse writing style in his poetry, staying true to the style s definition of unrhymed lines with consistent meter, Sunday Morning differs from the poet s other work as he maintains consistency in stanza structure as well. Here, each of the eight stanzas consists of 15 feet and contain 10 beats per line (classic iambic pentameter). This extremely organized structure seems ironic, as the poem s theme involves the death of Christianity and organized religion. However, it also lends to Stevens message of the importance of life and death, and the immaculate nature and consistency seen in earth s life cycles. Sunday Morning is an example of Wallace Stevens romantic period writing style, as he articulates the human connection to nature and the existence of spirituality within ones physical surroundings. The uncompromising structure of the poem provides a meditative rhythm (showing Stevens connection to Milton and the romanic era) as the speaker reflects on the relationship between oneself and the natural environment. Simultaneously, Stevens use of blank verse and inclusion of both enjambments and end stopped lines allows for artistic exploration, mirroring a human thought pattern and the speaker s mental exploration of personal beliefs. The syntax resembles a racing mind, as the sentence structure is the only aspect of the poem that does not follow a strict pattern. This is evident as the speaker ponders a Pagan perspective, ... The main goal of care ethics is to maintain and promote caring relationships. Care ethics involves helping both yourself and the world around you. It gives you the motivation to care for others beside yourself. Care ethics according to the article is more a general approach than a theory in regards to other ethical practices. The goal of care ethics is to show that women have the same equal rights as men and that they both have freedoms of their own. This is important as this is helping to address equality among the human race. Care ethics as a whole revolves around emotions. Care ethic believers preach that having emotions helps you to think and feel for others. The goal in emotions is to focus on the wants and needs of the one being cared for. They believe through this they can relate to others in their needs. An example that the article gives is the mother child relationship. If a child wants something to eat, the mother of that child knows best what the child needs. This is due to the caring motherly nature that mothers have. Also, caring helps to motivate us to tend to those, even if we are exhausted, and angry. • 50. San Juan Argentina Research Paper Ever since we where young, most of our parents would remind us to appreciate what we have and that we should realize how luck we are. I remember all the lectures I would receive from my parents and my teachers whenever I acted spoiled or selfish. The never failed to mention that I was very lucky and that I should never take people, technology and my living situation for granted. Until my trip to San Juan, Argentina, I never fully understood what my parents had meant. That trip really put into perspective how lucky I was and it taught me how to appreciate the things I had. It had been 14 years since my family had been to our hometown in San Juan, Argentina. Our hometown was a small city in the province of San Juan, Argentina. It is very small ... His house was a lot more like the houses in the U.S., the outside sidewalk was paved, the inside was tiled, the walls were painted, and there were air conditioners in all of the rooms of the house. Despite its very put together appearance, it was not exactly the same as the houses in my neighborhood in Florida. There were wires coming out of holes in the walls and there wasn t any Internet connection except for in one room. Once I had settled in my cousin s room I took out my charger and looked for an outlet, upon finding an outlet I noticed that the holes in the outlet where round instead of rectangular. My cousin noticed my distress and let me borrow her charger that matched the outlet. It took me a while to get accustomed to how different it was in San Juan. The first week consisted of sweating, useless phones, and lack of communication with the outside world. All of my electronics where completely useless and it really threw me of my original daily routine. I had to remember to kiss everyone once on each cheek when greeting them. At times I would forget to do so and my parents would later scold me and tell me that I came off as rude or impolite. Then I had to help wash all of our laundry in the stream and then put it on the clothesline to dry. The first few times I washed my clothes I accidentally let some get carried away by the stream and I had to chase the clothes down for a couple of blocks. I had to do the dishes instead of using a dishwasher and on more than one occasion I had dropped a plate. I also had to wake up for breakfast, then lunch and then find a way to entertain myself without electronics for three hours until siesta or nap time was over. Siesta, was from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at this time all businesses would close and take a break, for lunch or just sleep. I always found myself wanting to go to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
