The Sectional Crisis And The Compromise Of 1850
In efforts to better understand the Civil War most historians examine the Sectional Crisis and the
Compromise of 1850 in the decades leading up to the worst years in American History. Some
historians prefer to focus on the underlying theme of the war, others tightly examine individual
leaders, events, and political parties, connecting them all together like puzzle pieces to define the
years prior to the war. Despite the contrasting views, it is clear to realize the constant prevailing issues
of the Antebellum Period, the Sectional Crisis and the Compromise of 1850. In particular, the
Compromise of 1850 is deceivingly taught as only establishing 3 pivotal elements: the status of
slavery in future territories (popular sovereignty), California statehood, and the fugitive slave law.
Granted these elements of the compromise provide a great amount of controversy long after their
birth, but one element of the compromise perceives to fail in obtaining recognition. The Texas New
Mexico boundary resolution seems to find itself fading away from its relevancy to the civil war,
shadowed by more prominent issues regarding the stability of the Union. Abandoning the traditional
teaching of the compromise, the Texas New Mexico border decision figuratively and literally changed
the identity of Texas. This was the long awaited result caused by deep rooted social and political
issues dating back to the Texas Revolution.
The end result of the dispute that led to the compromise held Texas to

Psychodynamic Approach To Counselling
Counselling theories provide a framework for counsellors to interpret a client’s behaviour,
thoughts, and feelings and help them navigate a client’s journey from diagnosis to post treatment
.The theories refer to the principles and theory of how different forms of counselling should work, it
deals with the assumptions and hypotheses about the process of human development , the problems
and difficulties that can arise at various stages in our life time as a result of environmental influences
and others . There are many counselling theories and all of them have their own techniques some are
similar or extended version of original theories but all aim to provide the counsellor with a framework.

Knight Bus Research Paper
I loved riding on the Knight bus it was amazing and wonderful. It was great to see how the Muggles
don t see this great big bus just zooming through cars and towns. I also find it great that witches and
wizards can use the Knigh bus to go to Hogwarts after the holidays instead of using Floo powder and
Apparation. i also find it interesting how the bus has charms on the inside and on the outside and how
at night instead of chairs there are beds. I love how it goes extremely fast and how it just zooms on the
streets and towns. I didn t like being knocked out of my chair several times (laughs) but it was lots of
fun and I will definitely ride the Knight Bus again and again. I also liked how there are 3 levels on the

Teaching in Australia
Teaching: Complexities In Teacher s Work In Australia The objective of this study is to discuss
important complexities in teacher s work. According to Churchill, et al (2013) The commitment to
teaching brought to the studies and careers of teachers confirms that today s teachers and teachers
previously genuinely love to learn and have a great desire to teach. Churchill et al (2013) states that
this deep commitment to humanity and making a difference in the lives of the next generation are
among the qualities of people drawn to a career in teaching. (p.4) Some students are able to recall the
teacher that transformed their lives and as stated by an experienced teacher and teacher educator
Whatever the situation the influence teachers have on their students I long lasting and can be
profound. Good teaching makes a difference in the lives of children and young people. (Pugach, 2009,
p.1 in: Churchill, et al, 2013, p.4) The experiences of students in the classroom result in children
discovering their potential for the future and in acquiring the necessary knowledge as well as the skills
needed to follow their dreams for the future as well as in their development of beliefs, attitudes, and
behaviors toward society. (Church, et al, 2013, p.4) Churchill, et al states that teaching as a profession
in the twenty first century involves the apprenticeship of observation. 2013, p.5) Teaching in the
present also is characterized by both continuity and change . (Churchill, et

Cinematic Techniques In Citizen Kane
Citizen Kane is a 1941 American drama film directed, co written, produced by, and starring Orson
Welles. The story is a film à clef that examines the life and legacy of Charles Foster Kane, played by
Welles, a character based in part upon the American newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst,
Chicago tycoons Samuel Insult and Harold McCormick, and aspects of Welles own life. Kane s career
in the publishing world is born of idealistic social service, but gradually evolves into a ruthless pursuit
of power. Narrated principally through flashbacks, the story is told through the research of a newsreel
reporter seeking to solve the mystery of the newspaper magnate s dying word: Rosebud .
Cinematographer
Citizen Kane is best known for its best cinematographer because of it stylist techniques, deep focus or
the foreground and background of the shot to be in focus using lighting, composition, and lens choice

Citizen Kane is very creative in term of cinematic advances in many ways, and the use of deep focus. I

Around Ad 1200, Tahitian Explorers Came Across A Small
Around AD 1200, Tahitian explorers came across a small tropical archipelago consisting of eight main
islands and a few smaller islets. They settled there and the rich ethnic culture and religion of native
Hawaiians developed in isolation, untouched by the outside world, for the next five hundred years.
Each island had their own chief that ruled under the guidelines of the Kapu religion. Their mystical
polytheistic views affected every aspect of life from lifestyle habits to lawmaking. But in mid January
of 1778 a group of European explorers led by Captain James Cook arrived on their island home. These
visitors brought valuable trade opportunities, but also new technology and foreign disease. By the mid

secessionists had already begun fighting to regain its sovereignty. Hawaii is a land that many believe
was corrupted by outsiders, occupied by a foreign military, and overcome illegally, in turn leading
them to challenge the it s statehood and strive for the return of its sovereignty. While there are a
number of nationalist movements in Hawaii, there is none more popular or widely known than the
Nation of Hawaii. Led by the charismatic Dennis Pu uhonua Bumpy Kanahele, no other organization
has made as much progress into the matter of recovering sovereignty for native Hawaiians. Beginning
in 1989, while the push for federal recognition for American natives was happening across the United
States Kanahele laid the foundation for the village of Pu`uhonua O Waimanalo that is now considered
sovereign land on the island of Hawaii. His group occupied a number of places including Makapuu
Point Lighthouse and Kaupo beach in order to protest the treatment of native Hawaiians and the
destruction being done to their sacred land by big development projects. They agreed to stop the
occupations in exchange for an area of land that had previously been ceded to the U.S. Kanahele and

Introduction
The purpose of this work is to discuss the relevancy of the court case the United States of America v.
Richard D. King, Jr. and the influence it had on future cybercrime cases. A description will be given as
to how the Fourth and Fifth Amendments are applied to cybercrimes, as well as an explanation how
the Fourth and Fifth Amendments were addressed in this case. Further explanation on how the King
ruling may apply to other cases involving computers or other devices that contain electronic evidence
is provided.
The 4th and 5th Amendments Applied To Cybercrimes The 4th Amendment can be applied to
cybercrimes, but not the 5th Amendment. However, the 4th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A brief summary of the events leading up to the case provided through the University of Phoenix
materials includes King s involvement in email communications with Larkin, the mother of a 2 year
old girl who would later be abused by King sexually. Because Larkin and the child, known as Peanut ,
were residing in King s residence, law enforcement would serve an arrest warrant there against Larkin
and to rescue Peanut from abuse by her caretakers. King walked the officers to Larkin, who willingly
gave up her computer to investigators. King objected that his hard drive was in her computer and did
not give permission for officers to take it, but they did so regardless of his objections. King would
later be connected to further criminal activity and willingly went to speak with law enforcement,
where he made admissions to his involvement. King would later try to have his admission and other
evidence obtained through investigating Larkin as well hidden when he was charged and faced trial
for his crimes (University, 2016).
In regard to the 4th Amendment, King asserted that the police violated the Fourth Amendment when
they entered his house on February 19, 2004 and seized his hard drive without a warrant or his consent
(FindLaw, 2016). Because the owner of the computer hardware was disputing the legality of its
removal from someone else s property without his permission, King

Food Safety Modernization Act ( Fsma ) Into Law
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention documented that about one out of six Americans get
sick (approximately 48 million people), 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die each year from
foodborne diseases (CDC.gov). According to the FDA this is a significant public health concern which
can be preventable (FDA.gov). This was the main reason why on January 4th, 2011, President Obama
signed the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) into law. Some specific examples and major
events that might have led to signing the FSMA into a law are major outbreaks that have happened in
the past few years. Some examples are the Escherichia coli O157:H7 outbreak which was linked to
spinach, contamination of wheat gluten with melamine, and the outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium
in Peanut Corporation of America s peanut butter (Acheson, 2015). The FSMA amends the Federal
Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD C) with respect to safety of the food supply. The FD C Act consists
of the regulation of food, drugs, devices, and biological products by the FDA. These changes were
made in order to highlight that the FDA has to adapt the way it operates according to what is
happening in the food industry. Our food now travels more to get to us and the pathogens that we
encountered before are now changing, adapting and sometimes becoming stronger and harder to
defeat. In addition, people live longer and develop chronic diseases, making them susceptible to
getting a foodborne illness. FSMA provides

The Effects Of Myelin And Oligodendrocyte Dysfunctions
Abstract
Myelin and oligodendrocyte dysfunctions have been consistently found in patients with schizophrenia.
The effect of antipsychotics on myelin disturbances is unknown. The present study examined the
effects of quetiapine on oligodendrocyte regeneration and myelin repair in a demyelination animal
model.
C57BL/6 mice were fed with cuprizone (0.2% w/w) for 12 weeks to induce chronic demyelination and
oligodendrocyte degeneration, after which cuprizone was withdrawn to allow recovery. Quetiapine (10
mg/kg/day) or vehicle (water) was administrated orally to mice for 0, 2, 3, or 4 weeks after cuprizone
withdrawal. Locomotor activity and Y maze tests were used to evaluate behavioral changes in the
mice. Immunohistochemical staining was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gene expression analysis has found dysregulation of OL/myelin related genes in schizophrenia
patients (Hakak et al., 2001). Neuropathology and neuroimaging studies have also found myelin
abnormalities and OL degeneration, particularly in the frontal lobe, temporal lobe, and corpus
callosum (CC) in schizophrenic patients (McDonald et al., 2005; Schlosser et al., 2007). OL survival,
restoration and myelin repair are important compensatory mechanisms that maintain normal brain
function (Franklin and Ffrench Constant, 2008) and it is important to understand the role of OL
dysfunction in schizophrenia and the effects of treatment.
Atypical antipsychotics (APDs) are the first line treatment for schizophrenia. But their mechanisms of
action are not well understood. Studies have found that the APD quetiapine prevented the cortical OL
demise resulting from cuprizone (CPZ) treatment in mice (Zhang et al., 2008) and facilitated OL
lineage development in vitro (Zhang et al., 2008). In addition, neuroimaging studies showed that APD
treatment resulted in increased myelination in patients with schizophrenia (Bartzokis et al., 2009).
These studies suggest that APDs may exert their therapeutic effects by enhancing OL function and
myelin integrity. The gap between in vitro and human neuroimaging studies emphasizes the
importance of the development of an animal model to study the link between molecular and cellular
changes and the pathological and behavioral outcomes after APD treatment.

Third Man Noir
Graham Greene, the author of The Third Man wrote the screenplay for his film before adapting it into
the novella of the same name. Because of this rather peculiar order, the similarities between the two
are very strong, something that is not always the case with books and their film adaptations. Though
there a few stylistic differences between the novella and the film, the two mediums of storytelling both
remained quite true to the storyline. The noir genre was an essential piece to the story of The Third
Man, and both the novella and the film were able to convey this in their own way though the
techniques varied because of the two different mediums. Noir literature is usually comprised of a few
solid elements: dark, detective or criminal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music was by Viennese zither player Anton Karas whose greatest accomplishment was the
soundtrack for The Third Man. In Roger Ebert s review of the film, he made sure to praise the music
by stating, Has there ever been a film where the music more perfectly suited the action than in Carol
Reed s The Third Man ?... The sound is jaunty but without joy, like whistling in the dark. It sets the
tone; the action begins like an undergraduate lark and then reveals vicious undertones (Ebert). This
description so nicely explains the soundtrack, and especially the theme; it has a playful feel to it, but
when it is paired with the film itself, it sounds a bit mischievous and even a bit eerie, but, overall, it
sets the tone for the action of the film. Ebert concludes his review by praising the way that the film
made him feel by stating that, Of all the movies I have seen, this one most completely embodies the
romance of going to the movies. It was weary and knowing, and it s glorious style was an act of
defiance against the corrupt world it pictured (Ebert). This statement stands as a true testament to the
film and to all who worked on it, and it really shows what a quality film The Third Man really

Reasonable Occupation Review Paper
Effects of the Realistic Job Previews on Employees Job Satisfaction
Abstract
Reasonable occupation review (RJP) is the presentation of data both positive and negative given to the
forthcoming representative about the occupation and the association. The data gave is expected to give
the practical picture of the association. The part of the data stream is to touch base at a phase where
the desires of the representative and the candidate match. It is being contended that representatives
who are given RJP s amid the enlistment and determination process have higher occupation
fulfillment. Along these lines, the point of this study is to distinguish the connections between
practical work sneak peaks and worker work fulfillment in the associations. ... Show more content on

It is made helpful by utilizing both formal and casual techniques. Its convenience can be surveyed if
the association discovers workforce, which coordinates its necessities.Better enlistment strategies give
an upper hand to the association (Kecia, and Gail, 1999). One of the striking elements of an enlistment
procedure is the capacity to influence an applicant (Quinetta, Collins and Oreg, 2005). It imparts
looked for after and ugly parts of the employment to the occupation candidate before he/she makes a
choice to acknowledge the occupation offer (Champnoise, 2004). Great RJPs give a complete
depiction of the employment (O Nell et al., 2001). It is meant to guarantee that gainful and able
candidates must join the association with a long haul responsibility to the association (Champnoise,
2004). It is normal that a great job practical sneak peak can help in lessening the turnover and the
employing cost (O Nell et al., 2001). RJPs are proposed to give practical employment data. On the off
chance that the data is excessively negative, then it would withhold the possibility to join the
association (Quinetta, Collins, and Oreg, 2005). The data gave ought to be adjusted both positive and
negative data, and the excessively positive data is unsafe for an association (Morse, 2007). RJPs are
given in different configurations and through various strategies (Champnoise, 2004). In any case, it is

Oedipa s Search For Truth In The Crying Of Lot 49
Oedipa s search for truth is caught in a paradox: On one hand, she is (or at least believes she is) in
search of absolute meaning; on the other hand, that meaning is concentrated around herself and is
shutting her off from the world around her in a subjective circle of signification where the
communicational void she wishes to escape is filled with illusions of meaning. Oedipa s search is
fueled by a belief that it will bring to an end her encapsulation in her tower (Pynchon 31). The
complication to her journey is that all language (truth, communication, meaning, etc....) is founded in
entropy, on a waste of force that alone makes possible the fictional constitution of abstract truth. In
The Crying of Lot 49, Pynchon uses the ideas of entropy in thermodynamics and information theory
(through Maxwell s Demon) to more fully delve into Oedipa s paradoxical search for meaning in a
world that has created, forgotten, and rediscovered it s own truth.
Thermodynamics is the study of the relationship between heat and other energies. It deals with the
changes within a system if the energy distribution in that system is unbalanced. Thermodynamic
entropy is the measure of this chaos in the universe. In beginning of The Crying of Lot 49, Oedipa
Maas realizes that she exists within the confinement of [a] tower, (11) that is similar to a closed
system. Entropy thrives in closed systems; therefore, if she does not open her system she is doomed to
slow degradation, till she is nothing

Marxist Lenss In The Canterbury Tales And The Reeve s Tale
The triumph of Rocky Balboa over Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, the defeat of the Soviet Union by the
United States in the 1980 Olympic Ice Hockey Semi Final, and the Tortoise s victory in The Tortoise
and the Hare are a few of the many greatest underdog stories in history. Throughout history, underdogs
have proven time and time again that they should not be underestimated. Many people like to view
certain instances through the Marxist lens, which is when they see certain situations as an underdog
versus the favorite. These situations can either be viewed through a positive lens, which means that
the underdog bests the favorite, or in the negative lens, which means that the favorite remains above

The Shipman s Tale exhibited a positive viewpoint through the Marxist lens, but it is not the only
instance of a positive viewpoint in The Canterbury Tales. In addition to The Shipman s Tale, The
Reeve s Tale, of The Canterbury Tales, through the Marxist lens displays a positive perspective when
the miller is defeated by the students. The favorite in this scenario is the miller, Simpkin the Swagger,
and the underdogs are the students, John and Alan, because the miller is attempting to steal some of
the student s flour as he does with all his clients. The Reeve, or the orator of the story, describes the
actions of Simpkin, He was a thief as well of corn and meal, And sly at that; his habit was to steal
(Chaucer, 2003, p. 109). The students were no exception to these immoral actions and the students
were not happy about that. The manner in which they eclipse the miller is by conspiring to escape with
all of their flour and hold retribution for the miller. The Reeve describes the resolution, And thus the
bumptious miller was well beaten And done out of the supper they had eaten, And done out of the
money that was due For grinding Alan s corn, who beat him too (Chaucer, 2003, p. 118). Through the
Marxist point of view this resolution is perceived in a positive manner, because the miller is beaten up,
stolen from, and reprimanded for his immoral actions by John and Alan. The Reeve s Tale in The

Unequal Democracy By Larry Bartle
In Unequal Democracy written by Larry Bartle focuses on how politics have influenced the growing
gap between the rich and poor in America. Bartle argues that the gap has resulted from policy choices
dominated by partisan ideologies and interest of the wealthy, specifically under the Republican Party,
while Democrats have managed to slightly decrease the gap. Bartle sheds light on how poor voters
have a disadvantage in which wealthier voters are more affluent to political leaders. In addition, Bartle
examines whether voting patterns of voters have contributed to the growing economic inequality, and
he concludes voters do not weigh more into social and cultural issues; rather Republic presidents are
good at timing income growth to garner voters. The political environment has essentially influenced
economy, in result has led to a growing economic gap between the rich and poor, which is a national
and state issue that must be addressed. Education is essential to attain social mobility, however
students face difficult obstacles. Even though we have laws like No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB),
however many students that come from low social class families do not have equal opportunities as
students that come from higher income households. NCLB is encouraging on its face, but it does not
address the unequal distribution of funds for districts. NCLB set standards in which students must
achieve scores on standardized test rather than having access to equal opportunities, in

January 28, 1986, marks the day of the Space Shuttle Challenger Explosion. A day that will go down

the life of a high school teacher from New Hampshire. Former President Ronald Reagan was tasked
with explaining this tragic event to the US people. Because of this, Reagan postponed the State of the

the explosion of the space shuttle, Challenger, President Ronald Reagan effectively commemorates the

Decay In The House Of The Seven Gables
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s gothic novel, The House of the Seven Gables, the house plays many
supernatural key roles which changes the mood of the book multiple times. The supernatural role
starts out as a curse put upon those who are descendants of the Pyncheon family, but changes the
culmination of the story. This key element to the story takes on many evil forms, but gives the story its
delightful end. Early on in the story, Matthew Maule curses the Pyncheon family before his hanging,
therefore inciting the supernatural role. Thus brings the beginning of decay and destruction upon the
Pyncheon family which continues on throughout generations. Early on in the novel, Hawthorne writes,

In the final chapter of The Sun Also Rises, we see Jake Barnes emotionally destroyed from the events
of the prior festival. Jake reverts from taking an active role in the story to one of passivity. When he
arrives in San Sebastian, the majority of description is merely observation. Jake watches the
beachgoers and cycling team; he also swims alone. Jake shows no desire to interact with anyone else
in the city. While his aloofness seems misanthropic, Jake actually seeks absolution from the sins he
committed in Pamplona. During the festival, Jake endures numerous blows to his pride and
sensibilities. Cohn affronts Jake s masculinity after knocking him out. The result is the same when

Specific principles determine whether or not an essay is effective, those being the organization,
development and the focus. In my opinion, the Enduring Appeal of Agatha Christie was an effective
essay because it followed the rules of the three basic principles. Firstly, essays are organized by the
introduction, body and conclusion. During this essay, it follows this organization and also uses the
triangle concept. The triangle concept is when the key ideas are expressed from general to most
specific. The introduction started with a successful hook to grab readers attention, who does not enjoy
a good mystery . It proceeded to use the triangle concept by starting out with the more general
concept, which explains how mystery novels are widely enjoyed by people. The ... Show more content

However, the triangle concept for the conclusion is backwards compared to the introductory triangle
concept; it starts out listing key ideas from most specific to most general. In this essay, the beginning
of the conclusion states the fact that you can buy Agatha Christies books anywhere, at any bookshop,
airport or train station . The conclusion ends with the idea of the restoration of order giving modern
reader s comfort. The enduring appeal of Christie Agatha essay has a strong development; the order of
the arguments in each paragraph of the body follows the order in the thesis. In addition, each argument
is supported by the point, proof, comment rule which aids in the development. Lastly, effective essays
focus on proving the thesis, which occurred in this essay. Not only did she prove the thesis, she also
succeeded in not driving away attention from the thesis.Overall, the Enduring Appeal of Agatha
Christie was an effective essay because it followed the basic principles and was genuinely well
written. She successfully organized the essay, developed it correctly and focused on the

Gender Inequality And Ethnic Inequality
Introduction
To begin with, it might be necessary to define the terms of Gender inequality and ethnic inequality in
employment. While gender disadvantage refers to the prejudicial treatment of an individual or group
based solely on issues of gender (Robert, 2008); ethnic inequality indicates the unfair distribution of
opportunities and resources between the majority white and black and minority ethnic groups in the
labour market. The two issues have been rooted in the job market for long, and despite recent progress
of improvement, the issues remain and probably have evolved into more covert and complex forms. In
the following context, the two kinds of disadvantages will firstly be introduced respectively, together
with reasons behind the scene; yet, acknowledge the relevance of gender differences to ethnic
inequality, the explanations given for BME group s predicament will be aware of the overlaps between
gender and ethnicity issues; a brief conclusion will also be provided in the final part, however, given
the complexity of the picture, for example, the extent to which women and men from different ethnic
groups experience disadvantages varies (Vittachi, 2011), it is hard to generalise and any predictions
about future prospect may not be realized.
The Position of Women in the Labour Market
Over the last 40 years, women have achieved great success in gaining their equalities in the
workplace, this view is particularly advocated by a stream of feminists called Liberal

Difference In Jury Verdicts
A one way ANOVA analysis of variance displays an expressive contrast in mean verdict between types
of evidence, F (2, 94) = 8.68, p = .00, n = .16 (see Figure 1). No difference was disclosed in the Tukey
post hoc test including jury verdict with circumstantial evidence (M = 5.06, SD = 1.08) comparing to
the jury verdict with circumstantial evidence, an eyewitness and a discredited eyewitness (M = 4.50,
SD = 1.41), p = .17. Nonetheless, jury verdict with circumstantial evidence had a mean verdict that
was less guilty from the jury verdict with circumstantial evidence and an eyewitness (M = 5.83, SD =
1.29) p = .04. Jury verdict with circumstantial evidence and an eyewitness had a mean verdict that was

The testimonies were functional by three separate experiments/scenarios. Each participant received a
sheet of paper, which one of the three scenarios was written. Each participant was asked to render a
verdict based on the scenario he/she said. Our dependent variable was whether the defendant was
guilty or not. This was operationalized by the jurors getting put into eyewitness results.
The main limitation of this experimental study was that this study was not real, as well as no real life
consequences. There was no actual human life being presented in front of a jury or were there any
emotions being presented. The emotions would be high in the court room and the jury would actually
be having the ability to be sending the defendant to jail as well as seeing the defendant have real live
emotions. Being in a courtroom would also mean the jury would be listening to what the defendant
has to say. This was a fake study and just an experimental study to see how people would react to
being in

Persuasive Essay On Football Predictionss
There are a lot of people who rely on football predictions to be able to gain an edge in football
gambling. But how exactly are these predictions formulated?
Before you do anything else (before you put any money at stake) make sure that you know what you
re doing and what you re getting into. If you really want to get into football gambling, it would be best
if you would read about the subject matter first before you start betting on any team.
The internet is teeming with information on the subject. You can search for articles and websites that
would be able to help you learn more about the subject. This would also let you in on some tricks of
the trade. The more knowledge that you have the more chances you get of making a good bet. Also,
you will be steered away from false information or money scalpers online. And of course, that would
be a good thing for you and your money. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These predictions would tell them about what exactly could happen in the next game. Based on these
predictions, they can then place a wager on the team that they think would win. Of course, nobody can
really predict the outcome of a game. Handicappers, or people who give game predictions, tell their
clients that there are no guarantees that their predictions are really going to happen. So it will be up to
you if you re going to bet according to their predictions.
These handicappers are taking a great deal of effort and putting in a lot of time to study each and every
player s move. They also take a look at the teams performances. The handicapper bases his predictions
about the outcome of the game on these factors. They would do a matchup of the team s strengths and
weaknesses and also take into consideration their performance in the previous games. It really is a
tough job, and the handicappers are doing it for

Pros And Cons Of Adderall As A Stimulant
One of the most shocking things that I learned is that Adderall is a stimulant. I knew that Adderall has
an amphetamine base, however, I never made the connection. I know several people from my past and
now that take Adderall, some without a prescription. Knowing that Adderall is a stimulant makes it
seem entirely more dangerous than I saw it before. Adderall is a common drug now, people of all ages
are consumers. Adderall is so common, legally and illegally, that I am sure most people are unaware
of the interactions it can cause with other drugs. Adderall is generally viewed as a harmless drug for
ADD and ADHA, but when you look at it from the perspective of having amphetamine in it, it appears
much more dangerous.
Another shocking piece

Celsius, Fahrenheit, And Kelvin
Introduction The most commonly used temperature units in science lab were Celsius, Fahrenheit, and
Kelvin. These three units can use certain equation to change its units from one to another. The specific
heat is a term for a number of calories in heat needed to raise the temperature of 1g of substance by
1ºC. A thermometer, beakers, and calorimeter were frequently used in this lab.
Procedure
The initial temperature of the water was measured when it is in beaker. When the salt is added, it is
concluded how salt can lower the water temperature. The temperature was measured in Celsius and
was changed to both Fahrenheit and Kelvin. The second experiment involved the heat exchange
between metal and water. The metal in beaker and water in calorimeter

Summary Of Snow Falling On Cedars By Horace Whaley
In Snow Falling on Cedars, during an investigation of a murder, Horace Whaley who has racial
prejudice against Japanese provides an evidence that intentionally points to the Japanese American
Miyamoto. Whaley told the sheriff Art Moran that Carl s head wound resembled wounds he had seen
inflicted by Japanese soldiers skilled in the martial art of kendo (Guterson 58). However, in Japanese
culture, the Kendo is a Japanese martial art. The ancient stick fighting heritage and being top in his
class makes him look like a murderer. The reason for this weaponry is because of the need of self
defense and uses it for protection. Because Whaley hates Japanese and believes that Japanese are
monsters, he has a pre existing belief that Miyamoto is the

Optimization (ABCO) algorithm based on PID control to Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of
a PV system with energy storage powering DC motor pump system during isolationand load
variations. First, the total model of the entire system is obtained, including the PV, the boost converter,
the storage system, and the DC motor pump system. The controller performance with the proposed
system is studied with a DC motor load deriving a pump of certain mechanical power. Moreover, the
proposed system performance with the optimal approach in case of applying MPPT is compared with
the system in case of operating without MPPT. The simulation results show that the performance of
proposed system in case of operating at MPPT is improved by about 43% more than at operating
without MPPT condition. Index Terms Photovoltaic; energy storage system; optimal control; artificial

The Relationship Between Taxation And Technological...
Introduction
Profits should be taxed where economic activities deriving the profits are performed and where value
is created 1. The relationship between taxation and technological developments have always been
dynamic and complex. The internet represents the greatest technological revolution since the industrial
revolution. Data show that there is approximately $xxx billion trade occurring through e commerce,
with xxx billion internet users and xx billion domain names as of 20142 and this number keeps
changing every second. This paper takes a look at the current tax issues relating to e commerce and
profit shifting and also the new OECD framework aimed at addressing these challenges.
Tax Issues
Governments and tax authorities face the same problems whilst trying to tax digital or online
businesses: what is the appropriate nexus that permits the application of tax jurisdiction over cross
border sales?
Concerns have been expressed that e commerce could result in base erosion and profit shifting
[BEPS]. Consumption taxes are levied on the principle of taxation at the place of consumption and
according to rates set in individual country or state. E commerce, however, has the potential to
undermine the application of domestic and national tax rules. Tax planning for an e business differs
from tax planning for a traditional bricks and mortar company. In the past, generation of income
depended on the physical presence of assets and activities. This physical presence, permanent

Cahokian Chief Research Paper
The Cahokian Chief is a ruler of our Mississippian civilization. The political structure that Cahokia
operates under is a chiefdom in which the chief is a hereditary leader over a group of towns.
Chiefdoms are based on the communal culture of gift giving and commercial links and trade routes
and this is what supports our city. The chief has the most power over us he controls our land and
economy and the rest of us are considered subordinate to our chief. A part of the chief s job is to
organize us through different obligations such as tribute, shared labor, and rituals. We tend to the
fertile land, which provides us with an abundance of maize, beans, and squash. The land is so fertile
along the Mississippian river where we live; we attribute the abundance of maize to our corn goddess.
The agriculture we tend to is delivered to the chief and to neighboring communities whether it is a gift
or a debt. The chief is so powerful that most of the communities nearby tend to owe our chief tribute
or to pay off a debt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chief organizes religious rituals and feast rituals relating to our spirituality. We focus on the
religion of the earth, of nature, and the changing seasons. The woodhenges relate with the passage of
the sun over the course of the year. Other spiritual aspects we are guided by include the four
directions. We practice a spiral snake dance, and it is related to the changing seasons or solstices. The
chief is the closest to the gods because he lives atop of the mounds in a temple, which is a testimony
to his power over us as well as the respect we have for him as the most powerful and elite member of
Cahokia. Separate from the elite, the rest of us live in wooden huts because we are not related to or as

Plato s Allegory Of The Republic Essay
Plato (429 B.C 347 B.C) was a philosopher as well as a mathematician. He is considered to be the
most influential figure in the development of philosophy in Western literary tradition. As an Athenian
citizen he was so self conscious about how philosophy should be conceived, he raises questions about
political events and intellectual movements around his time. The period from 387 B.C to 361 B.C is
often called Plato s middle or transitional period and reveal Plato s method of hypothesis, The
Republic is part of his middle dialogues where he discusses the virtues of justice, courage and wisdom
of an individual and in the society. The Republic covers most of Plato s thought on philosophy and it

Life, School And College Life From High School
College life is very different from High School. Longer classes in some cases longer break periods,
and trying to balance your life at work, school, and home can be very overwhelming for most
students, making it very important to have a schedule and daily planner to better balance life at school
and home.
Creating a schedule and managing my time for myself has been both surprisingly easy and difficult.
My mornings from Monday to Thursday are the same for me as it was in High School. I would wake
up at 6:20 am, get dressed, eat breakfast, walk to the bus stop, wait, ride the bus to my High School,
enter my school, and wait until 8:00 am for class to start. Now instead of walking to the bus stop, my
mom gives me a ride to my uncle s house because he works near Pierce College and I ride with him to
school. He drops me off around 7:40 am and I wait until English 101 begins. Afterwards, once English
101 at 9:30 am I have a half hour break to eat lunch until Counseling 40 begins. Finally, at 11:30 am
Counseling 40 ends I wait in the library till 12:00 pm and walk to the Orange Line bus stop. And I ride
the bus and can be home by 1:30 pm. Afterwards, I would relax for an hour before I would work an
essay or read a chapter for an hour, then I would watch TV till 7:00 pm for dinner. My Friday s and
weekends are usually free days for me, I only occasionally have to do chores, study, homework, or
stay at Grandma s on Saturday night. Leaving Sunday as being more or less a lazy day for

  • 2. The Sectional Crisis And The Compromise Of 1850 In efforts to better understand the Civil War most historians examine the Sectional Crisis and the Compromise of 1850 in the decades leading up to the worst years in American History. Some historians prefer to focus on the underlying theme of the war, others tightly examine individual leaders, events, and political parties, connecting them all together like puzzle pieces to define the years prior to the war. Despite the contrasting views, it is clear to realize the constant prevailing issues of the Antebellum Period, the Sectional Crisis and the Compromise of 1850. In particular, the Compromise of 1850 is deceivingly taught as only establishing 3 pivotal elements: the status of slavery in future territories (popular sovereignty), California statehood, and the fugitive slave law. Granted these elements of the compromise provide a great amount of controversy long after their birth, but one element of the compromise perceives to fail in obtaining recognition. The Texas New Mexico boundary resolution seems to find itself fading away from its relevancy to the civil war, shadowed by more prominent issues regarding the stability of the Union. Abandoning the traditional teaching of the compromise, the Texas New Mexico border decision figuratively and literally changed the identity of Texas. This was the long awaited result caused by deep rooted social and political issues dating back to the Texas Revolution. The end result of the dispute that led to the compromise held Texas to ... I also find it great that witches and wizards can use the Knigh bus to go to Hogwarts after the holidays instead of using Floo powder and Apparation. i also find it interesting how the bus has charms on the inside and on the outside and how at night instead of chairs there are beds. I love how it goes extremely fast and how it just zooms on the streets and towns. I didn t like being knocked out of my chair several times (laughs) but it was lots of fun and I will definitely ride the Knight Bus again and again. • 5. Teaching in Australia Teaching: Complexities In Teacher s Work In Australia The objective of this study is to discuss important complexities in teacher s work. According to Churchill, et al (2013) The commitment to teaching brought to the studies and careers of teachers confirms that today s teachers and teachers previously genuinely love to learn and have a great desire to teach. Churchill et al (2013) states that this deep commitment to humanity and making a difference in the lives of the next generation are among the qualities of people drawn to a career in teaching. (p.4) Some students are able to recall the teacher that transformed their lives and as stated by an experienced teacher and teacher educator Whatever the situation the influence teachers have on their students I long lasting and can be profound. Good teaching makes a difference in the lives of children and young people. (Pugach, 2009, p.1 in: Churchill, et al, 2013, p.4) The experiences of students in the classroom result in children discovering their potential for the future and in acquiring the necessary knowledge as well as the skills needed to follow their dreams for the future as well as in their development of beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors toward society. (Church, et al, 2013, p.4) Churchill, et al states that teaching as a profession in the twenty first century involves the apprenticeship of observation. 2013, p.5) Teaching in the present also is characterized by both continuity and change . • 7. Around Ad 1200, Tahitian Explorers Came Across A Small Around AD 1200, Tahitian explorers came across a small tropical archipelago consisting of eight main islands and a few smaller islets. They settled there and the rich ethnic culture and religion of native Hawaiians developed in isolation, untouched by the outside world, for the next five hundred years. Each island had their own chief that ruled under the guidelines of the Kapu religion. Their mystical polytheistic views affected every aspect of life from lifestyle habits to lawmaking. But in mid January of 1778 a group of European explorers led by Captain James Cook arrived on their island home. It officially became the fiftieth state in the United States on August 21st, 1959, but secessionists had already begun fighting to regain its sovereignty. Hawaii is a land that many believe was corrupted by outsiders, occupied by a foreign military, and overcome illegally, in turn leading them to challenge the it s statehood and strive for the return of its sovereignty. While there are a number of nationalist movements in Hawaii, there is none more popular or widely known than the Nation of Hawaii. Led by the charismatic Dennis Pu uhonua Bumpy Kanahele, no other organization has made as much progress into the matter of recovering sovereignty for native Hawaiians. Beginning in 1989, while the push for federal recognition for American natives was happening across the United States Kanahele laid the foundation for the village of Pu`uhonua O Waimanalo that is now considered sovereign land on the island of Hawaii. His group occupied a number of places including Makapuu Point Lighthouse and Kaupo beach in order to protest the treatment of native Hawaiians and the destruction being done to their sacred land by big development projects. They agreed to stop the occupations in exchange for an area of land that had previously been ceded to the U.S. Kanahele and his advisors signed a fifty five year lease with the ... A brief summary of the events leading up to the case provided through the University of Phoenix materials includes King s involvement in email communications with Larkin, the mother of a 2 year old girl who would later be abused by King sexually. Because Larkin and the child, known as Peanut , were residing in King s residence, law enforcement would serve an arrest warrant there against Larkin and to rescue Peanut from abuse by her caretakers. King walked the officers to Larkin, who willingly gave up her computer to investigators. King objected that his hard drive was in her computer and did not give permission for officers to take it, but they did so regardless of his objections. King would later be connected to further criminal activity and willingly went to speak with law enforcement, where he made admissions to his involvement. King would later try to have his admission and other evidence obtained through investigating Larkin as well hidden when he was charged and faced trial for his crimes (University, 2016). In regard to the 4th Amendment, King asserted that the police violated the Fourth Amendment when they entered his house on February 19, 2004 and seized his hard drive without a warrant or his consent (FindLaw, 2016). • 9. Food Safety Modernization Act ( Fsma ) Into Law The Center for Disease Control and Prevention documented that about one out of six Americans get sick (approximately 48 million people), 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die each year from foodborne diseases (CDC.gov). According to the FDA this is a significant public health concern which can be preventable (FDA.gov). This was the main reason why on January 4th, 2011, President Obama signed the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) into law. Some specific examples and major events that might have led to signing the FSMA into a law are major outbreaks that have happened in the past few years. Some examples are the Escherichia coli O157:H7 outbreak which was linked to spinach, contamination of wheat gluten with melamine, and the outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium in Peanut Corporation of America s peanut butter (Acheson, 2015). The FSMA amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD C) with respect to safety of the food supply. The FD C Act consists of the regulation of food, drugs, devices, and biological products by the FDA. These changes were made in order to highlight that the FDA has to adapt the way it operates according to what is happening in the food industry. Our food now travels more to get to us and the pathogens that we encountered before are now changing, adapting and sometimes becoming stronger and harder to defeat. In addition, people live longer and develop chronic diseases, making them susceptible to getting a foodborne illness. FSMA provides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Effects Of Myelin And Oligodendrocyte Dysfunctions Abstract Myelin and oligodendrocyte dysfunctions have been consistently found in patients with schizophrenia. The effect of antipsychotics on myelin disturbances is unknown. The present study examined the effects of quetiapine on oligodendrocyte regeneration and myelin repair in a demyelination animal model. C57BL/6 mice were fed with cuprizone (0.2% w/w) for 12 weeks to induce chronic demyelination and oligodendrocyte degeneration, after which cuprizone was withdrawn to allow recovery. Quetiapine (10 mg/kg/day) or vehicle (water) was administrated orally to mice for 0, 2, 3, or 4 weeks after cuprizone withdrawal. Gene expression analysis has found dysregulation of OL/myelin related genes in schizophrenia patients (Hakak et al., 2001). Neuropathology and neuroimaging studies have also found myelin abnormalities and OL degeneration, particularly in the frontal lobe, temporal lobe, and corpus callosum (CC) in schizophrenic patients (McDonald et al., 2005; Schlosser et al., 2007). OL survival, restoration and myelin repair are important compensatory mechanisms that maintain normal brain function (Franklin and Ffrench Constant, 2008) and it is important to understand the role of OL dysfunction in schizophrenia and the effects of treatment. Atypical antipsychotics (APDs) are the first line treatment for schizophrenia. But their mechanisms of action are not well understood. Studies have found that the APD quetiapine prevented the cortical OL demise resulting from cuprizone (CPZ) treatment in mice (Zhang et al., 2008) and facilitated OL lineage development in vitro (Zhang et al., 2008). In addition, neuroimaging studies showed that APD treatment resulted in increased myelination in patients with schizophrenia (Bartzokis et al., 2009). These studies suggest that APDs may exert their therapeutic effects by enhancing OL function and myelin integrity. The gap between in vitro and human neuroimaging studies emphasizes the importance of the development of an animal model to study the link between molecular and cellular changes and the pathological and behavioral outcomes after APD treatment. ... • 11. Third Man Noir Graham Greene, the author of The Third Man wrote the screenplay for his film before adapting it into the novella of the same name. Because of this rather peculiar order, the similarities between the two are very strong, something that is not always the case with books and their film adaptations. Though there a few stylistic differences between the novella and the film, the two mediums of storytelling both remained quite true to the storyline. The noir genre was an essential piece to the story of The Third Man, and both the novella and the film were able to convey this in their own way though the techniques varied because of the two different mediums. The music was by Viennese zither player Anton Karas whose greatest accomplishment was the soundtrack for The Third Man. In Roger Ebert s review of the film, he made sure to praise the music by stating, Has there ever been a film where the music more perfectly suited the action than in Carol Reed s The Third Man ?... The sound is jaunty but without joy, like whistling in the dark. It sets the tone; the action begins like an undergraduate lark and then reveals vicious undertones (Ebert). This description so nicely explains the soundtrack, and especially the theme; it has a playful feel to it, but when it is paired with the film itself, it sounds a bit mischievous and even a bit eerie, but, overall, it sets the tone for the action of the film. Ebert concludes his review by praising the way that the film made him feel by stating that, Of all the movies I have seen, this one most completely embodies the romance of going to the movies. It was weary and knowing, and it s glorious style was an act of defiance against the corrupt world it pictured (Ebert). This statement stands as a true testament to the film and to all who worked on it, and it really shows what a quality film The Third Man really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The data gave is expected to give the practical picture of the association. The part of the data stream is to touch base at a phase where the desires of the representative and the candidate match. It is being contended that representatives who are given RJP s amid the enlistment and determination process have higher occupation fulfillment. It imparts looked for after and ugly parts of the employment to the occupation candidate before he/she makes a choice to acknowledge the occupation offer (Champnoise, 2004). Great RJPs give a complete depiction of the employment (O Nell et al., 2001). It is meant to guarantee that gainful and able candidates must join the association with a long haul responsibility to the association (Champnoise, 2004). It is normal that a great job practical sneak peak can help in lessening the turnover and the employing cost (O Nell et al., 2001). RJPs are proposed to give practical employment data. On the off chance that the data is excessively negative, then it would withhold the possibility to join the association (Quinetta, Collins, and Oreg, 2005). The data gave ought to be adjusted both positive and negative data, and the excessively positive data is unsafe for an association (Morse, 2007). • 13. Oedipa s Search For Truth In The Crying Of Lot 49 Oedipa s search for truth is caught in a paradox: On one hand, she is (or at least believes she is) in search of absolute meaning; on the other hand, that meaning is concentrated around herself and is shutting her off from the world around her in a subjective circle of signification where the communicational void she wishes to escape is filled with illusions of meaning. Oedipa s search is fueled by a belief that it will bring to an end her encapsulation in her tower (Pynchon 31). The complication to her journey is that all language (truth, communication, meaning, etc....) is founded in entropy, on a waste of force that alone makes possible the fictional constitution of abstract truth. In The Crying of Lot 49, Pynchon uses the ideas of entropy in thermodynamics and information theory (through Maxwell s Demon) to more fully delve into Oedipa s paradoxical search for meaning in a world that has created, forgotten, and rediscovered it s own truth. Thermodynamics is the study of the relationship between heat and other energies. It deals with the changes within a system if the energy distribution in that system is unbalanced. Thermodynamic entropy is the measure of this chaos in the universe. In beginning of The Crying of Lot 49, Oedipa Maas realizes that she exists within the confinement of [a] tower, (11) that is similar to a closed system. Entropy thrives in closed systems; therefore, if she does not open her system she is doomed to slow degradation, till she is nothing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marxist Lenss In The Canterbury Tales And The Reeve s Tale The triumph of Rocky Balboa over Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, the defeat of the Soviet Union by the United States in the 1980 Olympic Ice Hockey Semi Final, and the Tortoise s victory in The Tortoise and the Hare are a few of the many greatest underdog stories in history. Throughout history, underdogs have proven time and time again that they should not be underestimated. Many people like to view certain instances through the Marxist lens, which is when they see certain situations as an underdog versus the favorite. The Shipman s Tale exhibited a positive viewpoint through the Marxist lens, but it is not the only instance of a positive viewpoint in The Canterbury Tales. In addition to The Shipman s Tale, The Reeve s Tale, of The Canterbury Tales, through the Marxist lens displays a positive perspective when the miller is defeated by the students. The favorite in this scenario is the miller, Simpkin the Swagger, and the underdogs are the students, John and Alan, because the miller is attempting to steal some of the student s flour as he does with all his clients. The Reeve, or the orator of the story, describes the actions of Simpkin, He was a thief as well of corn and meal, And sly at that; his habit was to steal (Chaucer, 2003, p. 109). The students were no exception to these immoral actions and the students were not happy about that. The manner in which they eclipse the miller is by conspiring to escape with all of their flour and hold retribution for the miller. The Reeve describes the resolution, And thus the bumptious miller was well beaten And done out of the supper they had eaten, And done out of the money that was due For grinding Alan s corn, who beat him too (Chaucer, 2003, p. 118). Through the Marxist point of view this resolution is perceived in a positive manner, because the miller is beaten up, stolen from, and reprimanded for his immoral actions by John and Alan. • 17. Unequal Democracy By Larry Bartle In Unequal Democracy written by Larry Bartle focuses on how politics have influenced the growing gap between the rich and poor in America. Bartle argues that the gap has resulted from policy choices dominated by partisan ideologies and interest of the wealthy, specifically under the Republican Party, while Democrats have managed to slightly decrease the gap. Bartle sheds light on how poor voters have a disadvantage in which wealthier voters are more affluent to political leaders. In addition, Bartle examines whether voting patterns of voters have contributed to the growing economic inequality, and he concludes voters do not weigh more into social and cultural issues; rather Republic presidents are good at timing income growth to garner voters. The political environment has essentially influenced economy, in result has led to a growing economic gap between the rich and poor, which is a national and state issue that must be addressed. Education is essential to attain social mobility, however students face difficult obstacles. Even though we have laws like No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), however many students that come from low social class families do not have equal opportunities as students that come from higher income households. NCLB is encouraging on its face, but it does not address the unequal distribution of funds for districts. Jake reverts from taking an active role in the story to one of passivity. When he arrives in San Sebastian, the majority of description is merely observation. Jake watches the beachgoers and cycling team; he also swims alone. Jake shows no desire to interact with anyone else in the city. • 22. Gender Inequality And Ethnic Inequality Introduction To begin with, it might be necessary to define the terms of Gender inequality and ethnic inequality in employment. While gender disadvantage refers to the prejudicial treatment of an individual or group based solely on issues of gender (Robert, 2008); ethnic inequality indicates the unfair distribution of opportunities and resources between the majority white and black and minority ethnic groups in the labour market. The two issues have been rooted in the job market for long, and despite recent progress of improvement, the issues remain and probably have evolved into more covert and complex forms. In the following context, the two kinds of disadvantages will firstly be introduced respectively, together with reasons behind the scene; yet, acknowledge the relevance of gender differences to ethnic inequality, the explanations given for BME group s predicament will be aware of the overlaps between gender and ethnicity issues; a brief conclusion will also be provided in the final part, however, given the complexity of the picture, for example, the extent to which women and men from different ethnic groups experience disadvantages varies (Vittachi, 2011), it is hard to generalise and any predictions about future prospect may not be realized.
