Informative Essay On Speed Skating
Speed skating is a Winter Olympic sport that has become very popular over the years. One of the most
popular sports in Poland is speed skating. Poland has won many speed skating medals in the Winter
Olympics. One of their best speed skaters is named Zbigniew Brodka, who won gold in the 1,500
meter race at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, 2014. The history of speed skating traces back 1,000
years ago in Scandinavia and the Netherlands. They had originally used snowshoes and skis to travel
through snow, but realized they could travel quicker across ice, using skates (SSHIST.doc). The first
speed skaters used animal bones, and boots made of animal skin to make skates (Thrillspire.com).
Speed skating was originally developed as a form of transportation.

Importance Of Grit And Growth Mindset
Imagine if everyone had grit and a growth mindset, we could achieve what we set our minds to and we
could help make students successful. Grit is when you fully apply yourself to achieve your dreams and
take mistakes as a guidance for improvement. Growth Mindset is to have an open mind to new ideas
and to keep developing as a person. Based off of studies, Grit and Growth Mindset seems to be the
most character building traits that have transformed many students live s like us. Grit and Growth
Mindset inspires students to be great because a growth mindset can keep improving, grit will lead you
to find passion which results in success, and although some may say passion is more important, grit
and growth mindset allows you to achieve your dreams. First, a growth mindset can keep improving
due to challenges. For instance, Duckworth presents how a growth mindset can keep improving, Dr
Dweck has shown that when kids read and learn about the brain and how it changes and grows in
response to challenge, they re much more likely to persevere when they fail, because they don t
believe that failure is a permanent condition. (Duckworth 5:09). This shows, that even a student who
has a growth mindset does not succeed, they are inspired to keep improving. In addition, in an article
written by Achieve, presents the concept of how an incredible man conserved his growth mindset,
[Milt Campbell] maintained a positive outlook throughout his final days ( Dream Believer ). This
shows that when

To What Extent Does Genetics Affect Human Intelligence
To what extent do genetics affect human intelligence (IQ) in relation to monozygotic and dizygotic
twins?

Introduction
This paper will be comparing and providing an evaluation of the extent to which genetic information
plays a role in the human intelligence in relation to IQ levels in monozygotic and dizygotic twins.
Human intelligence is defined as the ability to mentally solve, learn and reason and due to its nature,
intelligence integrates cognitive functions such as perception, memory, language and planning. As a
grand basis of the definition of intelligence, intelligence can be calculated and evaluated with the help
of standardized testing known as IQ testing. IQ is a quotient of intelligence. (Colom, R., Karama, S.,
Jung, R. E., Haier, R. J. (n.d.). Human intelligence and brain networks.).
The role of genetics and the human genome in intelligence has been discussed by researchers for
centuries, the heritability of intelligence as a trait in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Differences in DNA is what causes variation in individuals and this was established in Darwin s
theory. Monozygotic and dizygotic twins share significant amounts of their DNA with their other twin,
100% in monozygotic twins and 50% in dizygotic twins. This is why twins are specifically targeted in
investigations to find the extent at which genetics influences intelligence. Therefor allow researchers
to see the separation of the shared genetic and environmental influences in intelligence, once again
allowing them to estimate a quota that is attributed to genetic variation and what is as a result of the
environment, shared or unshared. ( Twin studies, n.d.). Psychologist and researcher Sir Francis Galton
stated in 1883 there is no escape from the conclusion that nature prevails enormously over nurture

Acquired Prosopagnosia
Face perception is arguably a vital skill for smooth social interaction, as it minimises the risk of
misidentification between individuals. Remove the ability to recognise faces and social
communication will become a more complex and isolating experience. Individuals who lack the
ability to process faces are said to suffer from a condition known as prosopagnosia. Acquired
prosopagnosia (AP) refers to the inability to recognise faces following brain damage, often caused by
a stroke or significant head injury: whereas congenital prosopagnosia (CP) is defined as the deficit in
face processing which occurs in the absence of any neurological impairment, but has been present
since infancy. Both forms of prosopagnosia can have a detrimental impact ... Show more content on

These emotional responses are considered important in guiding our attitude and behaviour towards
those around us. For instance, Haxby and Gobbini (2011) discovered significant neural activity in the
amygdala when we encounter strangers. The amygdala is thought to be the part of the limbic system
associated with fear and anxiety (Davis, 1992). As a result, its activity in the presence of strangers
may allude towards the caution we take when interacting with someone new. Nonetheless, it is once
again research into individuals with AP which has highlighted how the conscious recognition of faces
and our emotional response to faces are not reliant processes, but rather dissociable and

Autistic Friendly Space Essay
715
Designing the Space for Autism
According to the Center for Disease Control, one in sixty eight American children are diagnosed with
autism. Those with autism are highly sensitive to sight, sound, as well as touch and this can make it
difficult for individuals on the spectrum to function within an enclosed space. Finding the right
balance is key when designing an autistic friendly space, as autistic individuals can have a strong
aversion to change. Having too flexible of an environment can invoke fear if the environment is
always changing. It is important, when designing for autism, to offer both flexibility and variety and
be sensitive to sensation and stimulus.
Since autistic individuals perceive lighting, colors, and patterns differently, ... Show more content on

Strike a balance between having large, open spaces and offering small, intimate spaces. By offering
variety, you allow for flexibility and can more easily accommodate the needs and sensitivities of each
autistic individual.
2. Autistic individuals are also sensitive to the feel of physical objects, and while this sensitivity varies
from person to person, you can strike a happy medium by favoring the use of natural materials and
textiles. Lean more towards the use of wood, rubber, wool, porcelain, cork, and rubber.
3. Keep in the mind the acoustics, as for many autistic individuals this can be distracting and over
stimulating. The hum of fluorescent lighting, the sound of an air conditioning or heating unit, the
sound of someone eating, footsteps, or even hearing multiple forms of sound at once can be
maddening, distracting, and can even cause pain. Many autistic individuals suffer from headaches and
can become agitated when they are inundated with multiple forms of sound.
4. Provide withdrawal, or isolation, spaces where one can go to re center when they have become over
stimulated and overwhelmed. It is also important to design these rooms to be as soundproof as
possible, so the elimination of ambient sound can become

Comparing God And Jonah In The Book Of Jonah
In the book of Jonah we see the vast amount of tension between both God and Jonah. He is one of the
prophets who also believes in tolerance of non Jews opposite to Ezra s and Nehemiah s stress of an
unadulterated blood race of Jews under a restrictive Jewish God. Jonah is one of a vast line of
important people in the bible who argues with God. As you see in past books of the bible everyone has
stood their own against the Lord. Jonah though decides to try and run from God. The Lord called to
Jonah and said Arise, go to Ninevah, that great city, and cry against it, but Jonah flees to Joppa, setting
sail on a ship duty bound for Tarshish, assuming he can evade the Lord. Jonah views the Lord as sort
of a indigenous God of restrained power that his hand would not reach as ... Show more content on

This is when Jonah is anointed the role of a prophet that is a persuader, as a publicizer of the Lord s
mercy, and the gift of repentance. Ezra and Nehemiah believe when they returned to the promise land
that the lord had returned to them must be at its utmost holiest. That means the the people of the old
Israel that were left behind and married foreign wives had to leave. This is not right in the meaning
that we have today and if you re a follower of the Lord. Most people conclude you are entitled to
follow or not follow at your leisure. God is a God that cares for Jews and gentiles akin. This is where
you could battle equally Jonah s, Ezra s and Nehemiah s because both bring valid reasoning to their
accustoms. Jonah s who believes all should be given the chance and Ezra Nehemiah s view that this
land should have foreign idols worshipped in their land. I conclude that this is presented to us in the
book of the bible because we must make the choice in whether what s correct and what s not correct

The Moral Code Of Human Culture
Much of human culture is built upon basic principles that we as people may, or may not, even be
aware that we are adhering to. Most people never stop to question why it is that we cherish certain
animals, yet consume others. Almost all American s would be disgusted if I mentioned that in China, it
is socially acceptable to eat dogs and cats, and many Indian s would find it completely reprehensible
that people in America eat cows. Those who choose to eat meat and other animal products, and those
who choose to abstain from these products for moral reasons tend to have wildly different views on
animals and the roles they play in our society. What is it that gives us, as humans, the right to take
another living being s life? These issues seem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Singer goes on to state that according to the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental
Disabilities, a person with a profound intellectual or developmental disability is characterized as a
person with: an IQ of less than 25, who will always require much supervision; though, they may
acquire some self help skills, have an ability to understand that exceeds their ability to speak, may
have little or no speech, may be capable of following simple directions, have no academic skills, may
be unable to perform any useful work; though, with training may be able to achieve a work activity
level of productivity, and who may appear socially isolated and pay little attention to others except as
it relates to their own needs. If the argument for speciesism is that non human animals are not as
intelligent, and therefore less morally important, how do we justify this thought pattern in the light of
humans who have a lower IQ and less cognitive functioning than an ape?
While Apes are not routinely consumed, pigs are, and they have been found to have cognitive
functioning and intelligence at about the level of a 3 year old human child. Donald Brook, a Professor
of Animal Welfare at the University of Cambridge Veterinary School remarks, Pigs have the cognitive
ability to be quite sophisticated. Even more so than dogs and certainly [more so than]

How Did Henry Ford Revolutionized Society
I will build a car for the great multitude (Ford in Foner Garraty). This was the promise and the
realization of Henry Ford, who created the Model T for the common man. The Model T influenced
everyday life for the Middle class, whom could not afford a car in the early 20th century. Henry Ford
is one of the most significant people in American history because he revolutionized the automobile
industry in the United States, he revolutionized mass production and the assembly line, and he
revolutionized the economy with production of the Model T. Henry Ford revolutionized the
automobile industry by creating a simple and affordable car. He set out to build a car large enough for
the family but small enough for the individual to run and care for. [It must also be] so low in price that

Because Henry Ford wanted to make an affordable car he needed workers to build the car. Ford paid
assembly line workers $5.00 per day at a time when prevailing wages averaged about $2.35 per day

job before Henry Ford came along. The main reason Ford paid his workers this wage was to be sure
his employees could buy his product. If Ford were to never introduce this wage to his employees, they
would not have been able to buy his cars. Known as the most dramatic event in the history of wages
Henry Ford increased the wages to $5.00 and reduced the work day by 90 minutes (Dunn, et al.).
Henry Ford nearly doubled the average wage to ensure that people would work for him. Because
Henry Ford increased the wage, the middle class formed. The automobile became the fulcrum for a
new economy. It spurred travel, pushed the growth of cities outward and eventually helped create

I Should Start My Story At The End Of A Mystery
suppose I should start my story at the beginning. I mean, it wouldn t make sense to start it at the end or
in the middle, now would it? It s like if you turn the TV on right at the end of a mystery show and you

beginning. You already know who the killer is, so it s not a mystery anymore! No point at all.
Anyways, I ll just start at the beginning, which just happens to be when I was out in the woods one
day, looking for something to eat. I spotted a few lousy rabbits and squirrels, but I just didn t feel like
chasing them. You have to feel like chasing something to chase it, and I just didn t feel like it. I really

caught a whiff of something in the air. Something like cinnamon. I followed it, using my incredible
sense of smell and all, until I came upon a girl wearing a red cloak, walking on a path through the
woods. She had stopped and was picking the small green flowers on the side of the path. Sitting
besides her was a basket that was practically overflowing with marvelous smells. My stomach
growled again. I patted down my grey fur and smelled my breath by breathing into my paw and
sniffing. I tied up the side flaps on my red hunting hat that had holes cut in it for my ears to poke
through. After picking a few more leaves from my fur, I deemed myself worthy to

Divine Command And Natural Law Theory
Growing up in a Christian household I have always felt that my own ethical code was largely shaped
by the rules and laws that are stated in the bible. Although I don t agree with some interpretations of
these rules and laws, as I ve grown up I have developed my own code stemming deeply from my
religion. For this reason, I believe that divine command/natural law theory are the closest related
ethical systems to my own ethical code even though there are many flaws that come with them.
Divine command is an ethical system that derives heavily from a religious background. This system
believes that since God is the creator and ruler of all, he is the one who decides the ethical and moral
principles. It can be simply put as morally right means commanded by God and morally wrong means
forbidden by God (Rachel, 2002). Because of this, moral correctness can only be found through
religion. Since many of the rules and laws that come from divine command are so adamantly set into
place, there are many flaws that can come from them.
One major flaw that develops from divine command is one of reason. In the classical sense of divine
command all laws come straight from God. With these laws there are no questions asked to if they are
truly right or wrong. With this said there are many different situations that can come to mind. One
example can be in the form of a question. What would happen if God commanded that murder was
considered morally right? With reasoning skills, we can see

Abstract
In recent years, innovation has been coming from places we least expected of. MNCs headquarters are
no longer the primary source for creating innovation. Globalization has enabled firms to expand their
businesses overseas and strategize competitive advance through its global subsidiaries. In the nexus of
innovation, valuable knowledge can be generated at any level of the
MNCs, in particular at local levels. As firms became global, it has become challenging for
MNCs to mobilize knowledge generated at local units. This paper advocates for the role of regional
offices as knowledge mobilizers. Regional offices act as knowledge brokers for diffusing innovation
generated locally to other locations within the MNCs. It outlines a mechanism of local to global
innovation cycle, which includes: knowledge identification, knowledge extraction, and knowledge
diffusion.3 Mobilizing knowledge in Multinational Corporations

What Is Affirmative Defense
1. The defendant(s) have various options. They can contest the lawsuit, negotiate a settlement with the
plaintiff, or do nothing at all. If they defendants challenge the lawsuit, they can do son on two bases.
They can either contest the facts of the case or challenge the action on some legal basis. 2. If the
defendants choose to contest the action, they must act within certain time limitations. If the case is
filed in state court, the time limit is fixed by state law. In federal court, under Rule 12, the time in
which to respond is normally 21 days unless the defendant waived service under Rule 4. If service was

can prove every contention alleged in the complaint. The affirmative defenses must be alleged in the

of substantive law. Some matters, such as an expiration of the statute of limitations, operate as
affirmative defenses in all kinds of cases. 5. It follows the same general format as the complaint. It

Essay on Brain Development in Victims of Child Abuse
Child abuse is a widespread problem in America and beyond. Every year more than 3 million reports
of child abuse are made in the United States involving more than 6 million children(1a). For many
years, experts believed that the negative effects of child abuse, such as emotional problems, flashbacks
to traumatic events, and even learning problems, were psychological phenomena only, able to be cured
with therapy. Now, however, beliefs are being changed with the help of tools such as MRI imaging,
able to detect actual changes in brain anatomy, and it appears that what doesn t kill you may still

The water soluble neurotransmitters, on the other hand, only last for seconds (3). This persistance of
the stress hormones makes it hard for the brain to return to its natural, unstressed state.
The brain develops in such a way that it leaves itself vulnerable to these negative influences. The
prenatal brain develops an overabundance of neurons, some of which are then carefully eliminated
before age 4 (5). In a process similar to this, the amount of synapses between neurons is built up
during early childhood and then pruned back for the next 30 years of life (5). These two processes are
both disturbed by elevated levels of stress hormones (5). The two centers of the brain with the most
postnatal changes, including the growth of new neurons after birth, are the hippocampus, which is part
of the limbic system, and the cerebellar vermis (6). The hippocampus is in charge of creating and
retrieving memories, working together with the other parts of the limbic system, such as the amygdala,
which records the emotions for each memory. The vermis controls the production and release of two
of the catecholamine neurotransmitters, dopamine and norepinephrine (6). Both the vermis and the
limbic system have higher concentrations of receptors for the stress hormone cortisol than anywhere
else in the brain (6). Due to this fact, these still developing areas are the most vulnerable to the
damage done by elevated levels of stress hormones.

March 8th is International Women s Day, defined by YES! Magazine as: a day started on March 8,
1857, in New York City by Garment workers who staged a protest against inhumane working
conditions and low wages. Despite being attacked and dissolved by police officers, the movement
continued. By 1908 the movement had grown to 15,000 women in the New York City march alone. It
also expanded to include child labor, shorter working hours, and voting rights. The slogan for this rally
became Bread and Roses with bread symbolizing economic security and roses for better living

Treasure Planet Movie Analysis
Many films that are created have multiple thematic driving forces that are consistent sometimes hard
to differentiate, this can make a film lose a large amount of its emotional impact... Treasure Planet
uses a unique method of intervening two separate integral thematic forces. Treasure Planet, directed
by Ron Clements and John Musker, is an animated science fiction retelling of the famous Treasure
Island. We accompany a boy named Jim Hawkins on his journey to find Treasure Planet, a childhood
dream that was forced by a fateful encounter with someone bearing a map. A map to the Loot of a
thousand worlds. Throughout this thrilling adventure, you also learn about Jim s family situation, his
father leaving, and how it affects the way he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance: When we are first introduced to Jim in his current age, he is sailing skillfully over land,
with a non diegetic electric guitar playing in the wake of his sail to accentuate his skillful movements.
The guitar leads into a full blown heroic sounding orchestral piece, halted by a cutscene where we see
Jim being essentially arrested for trespassing. This pairs the electric guitar with Jim further
establishing his rebellious nature, the opposite of what we would expect with the exposition of Jim s
character being a kind, curious, and slightly impatient child. Whenever an electric guitar is heard after
this scene, it is because Jim is doing something reclass but substantial. The next time we learn about
Jim and his background it is to the backing soundtrack of a song written by The Goo Goo Dolls, an
American rock band. With multiple themes consistently at play, if not for the intervening of
spectacularly placed music and directing, it would be confusing to the viewer to follow all three of the
themes. This could become problematic, if you want to frame multiple themes or plots, you must be
able to easily identify them. It s the difference between having a necklace braid in all grey and having
a necklace braid that is color coded without further inspection, at first glance, it would be hard to trace

Darkling Thrush
In the poem Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardly has some great and true statements about the world
crummy. According to the online Google dictionary crummy mean dirty, unpleasant, or of poor
quality. The main theme I got from this poem is how he talks about how can you be happy in a world
full of stuff that s falling apart.
In Darkling Thrush, the speaker also show how people in the world is moving too fast and no actually
enjoy moments in their life. They tend to let death take their life away befre even enjoying the world
and its nature. He also goes to say things go from dull and depressing to outright dismal. This poem
also shows that you must live your life for you and not other people or try to follow what others are

Hunters in the Snow Character Analysis of Tub Essay
Tub s Hardships
Being a man isn t always easy, for most of their life they are taught to show no affection and to be
tough in almost every situation. The tragedy of machismo is that a man is never quite man enough.
Hunters in the Snow , by Tobias Wolff, three hunting buddies, Frank, Tub and Kenny, set out on a
hunting trip together as they have done for years. Tub, who is over weight, self conscious and a good
friend, shows some of his weaknesses, strengths and hardships that are sometimes placed on men in
different situations. The protagonist, over weight, Tub and his two hunting buddies, Frank and Kenny
take off early one morning to the snowy mountains for a deer hunt. When they arrive and begin
heading to the woods they near a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s the way I feel about it (39). Despite how manly Tub is supposed to be as a man, the two men
have this special bond together and they show it. Tub then tells Frank, When I said that about my
glands, that wasn t true. The truth is I just shovel it in (40). Regardless being made fun of or picked on
about Tub s weight and clumsiness, Tub is yet a good listener and a great friend. Ironically, at the end
of the story the two guys, Tub and Frank, are bonding and supporting each other at the diner they stop
at to get warmed up before the hospital, even though their other friend Kenny is in the back of the
truck dying. Frank tells Kenny, It wouldn t hurt so much if you just stayed put. Now we re going to the
hospital. Got that? Say it I m going to the hospital (39). Once they leave the diner and are headed back
towards the hospital, Tub turns back to Frank, I just pulled a real boner, he said. What s that? I left the
directions on the table back there (39). A man having to be tough and to show no affection can
sometimes take a toll on their physical self being, yet they can also still be somewhat sensitive to
others emotions and feelings. In this short story by Tobias Wolff, Hunters in the Snow , Tub shows
some situations of strength, weaknesses and hardships men endure as a friend or

they are known as the Auroras. There are two names for this display of lights, which are Borealis and

How UK Inflation Indexed Gilts Are Priced
How UK inflation indexed gilts are priced? There are two methodologies are used in calculating cash
flows for inflation indexed gilts because gilts have two indexation lags depending on when they were
first launched. Eight month lag Linkers An eight month indexation lag is applied to the calculation for
the gilts which were first issued before 2005. The payments on these bonds use the inflation data eight
months previously. The adjusted rate of return is based on the nominal rate of return and the RPI
adjustment, where the nominal rate of return is fixed and the RPI adjustment varies. Two RPI figures
are required to calculate inflation adjustment: one is base RPI figure that concerns the first issue date
of the gilt; the other figure is the RPI applicable to the interest payment date. An example is given as
follows to illustrate how this methodology is applied. Example: 4⅛% inflation indexed gilts 2030,
which was first issued in June 1992 and the relative base RPI is 135.1 (the RPI for October 1991). In
order to gain the rate of interest paid in January 1998, the RPI figures for previous May and November
in 1998 are also required. The interest rate of return is as follows: 4.125/2×((RPI for May 1997)/(RPI
for Oct 1991)) =4.125/2×(156.9/135.1)=2.3953 For the redemption payment per £100 nominal of this
bond on maturity is calculated in similar way: 100×((RPI for Nov 2029)/(RPI for Oct 1991)) Three

Corrie Ten Boom from The Hiding Place and Anne Frank From Anne Frank s Diary were two of the of
the many people that were living during the Holocaust period. The Holocaust which took place in the
late 1930 s and throughout the 1940 s Adolf Hitler an anti Jewish man came to power in Germany.
During this Germany was in a great depression due to their loss of World War One. Hitler promised
restoration and power and he was easily accepted. Once Adolf was in power he began to invade
countries around them like Poland and Holland. Hitler began to send Jews away to camps. He then
began to rampage around the countries capturing the Jews and sending them to the camps where we
later found out how they brutally killed the Jews. Before some of the Jews were captured, they went
into hiding. That s where our two stories came from our first is The Hiding Place and the other is The
Annex. Although these are not the only stories about Jews hiding from the Nazis these are some of the
most extreme. While comparing Corrie and Anne their personality, experience, and final outcomes we
see that there are similarities and difference. Anne and Corrie had many different and similar

A Brief Note On The Insurance And Insurance Essay
Introduction
Insurance is am agreement between two parties in which one party promises to compensate for future
losses in return for a reoccurring payment. It protects an entity (such as an individual or company)
against unexpected losses. Some forms of insurance are compulsory by law whilst others are optional.
An insurance policy is a contract between the insured and the insurer. In the case of a certain event,
the insurer agrees to pay the insured a lump sum of money in exchange for a monthly premium.
It is critical to insure your business. It ensures that you and your business are secure from any
unexpected events. Business insurance protects your bottom line, and therefore enables you to grow
your business without the worry of an unplanned occurrence affecting revenue. South African
insurance companies offer comprehensive and unique insurance packages to business to suit
individual needs. Types of Insurance
Compulsory Business Insurance:
Road Accident Fund (RAF): o Every vehicle owner contributes to this fund through a levy charged on
fuel. The fund covers vehicle owners and drivers in the event of a third party being killed or injured
owing to the negligence of the driver. The fund pays for all medical expenses, any loss of income as a
result of the accident, as well as reparation for any due pain or disfiguration.

the east coast currently, the San Bernardino terrorist attack, death of a child, and being a victim of a
sexual assault. I think that all of these can be extremely stressful for an individual. However, people

I think that the only way that you would be able to handle that is to go through modeling to re teach

may take a large amount of time since it would be hard to control when a flashback is going to occur
and how long they will be stuck in that frame of mind. Possibly hypnosis could help with this. I think
some younger kids know that if they throw a fit about something or threaten violence they will get
what they want. I think that this is hard to deal with. How do you gauge if the threats are real or if it

Some general learning strategies include highlighting key terms, organization and note taking.
Moreover, my student asked if he was allowed to go to the bathroom every time the teacher gave out

I observed was my student, Torrian, asking if he could pass out classroom textbooks and assignments.
I consider this good avoidance because my student volunteered to help assist the teacher making the

his learning time. Moreover, I believe that my student is learning the material that is being presented
to him because he enjoys answering and asking questions even though he often does not raise his

Nuclear Contamination And The Atomic Bomb Testing
We retired early that evening, and slept well. With the pressure we had been under now somewhat

Stapleya and Wisceya were eager to see the wonders of Las Vegas. Estelle and Jill had told them

so why they would balk at one more impossible thing, I could not say. We pulled out of the motel

to answer nature s call. Although we had eschewed Interstate highways in prior day s travels, we really

atomic bomb testing, and the many diverse cases of cancer in the people living here then. Our

suffering brought forth by the Nuclear genie. We reached the Las Vegas metropolitan area without

Essay on Discuss Some Of The Main Ideas
Sigmund Freud considered himself a scientist whose intention was to find a physiological and
materialist basis for his theories of the psyche. Freud revolutionised the way in which we think about
ourselves. From its beginnings as a theory of neurosis, Freud founded and developed psychoanalysis
into a general psychology, which became widely accepted as the predominant mode of discussing
personality, behaviour and interpersonal relationships.
Freud, who had been studying neuropathology, left Vienna in 1885 to continue his studies in Paris
under the guidance of Jean Martin Charcot. This proved to be the turning point in his career, for
Charcot s work with patients classified as hysterics introduced Freud to the possibility that ... Show

By the death instinct, Freud meant an urge to self destruction and ultimately a universal impulse to
return to an earlier state. The death instinct may express itself in potentially self destructive behaviour
such as taking increasing risks, drug or alcohol addiction and attempts at suicide. The death instinct
might also be directed outwards in the form of aggression against others.
Freud believed that every child is born with a variety of drives and instincts that require nourishment
or stimulation. When there is conflict or deprivation of needs, anxiety and insecurity develop.
Defensive manoeuvres are adopted to handle the stress, ultimately leading to maladaptive behaviour.
These defences operate at an unconscious level and continue into adulthood. So according to Freud
the main causes of behaviour disorders are childhood anxieties and the defences erected against them.
Freud came to the conclusion based on his clinical experience with female hysterics, that the most
instant source of resisted material was sexual in nature. His patients seemed to recall actual
experiences of early seductions, often incestuous in nature. Freud s initial impulse was to accept these
as having happened but later concluded that rather than being memories of actual events, these
recollections were the remains of infantile impulses and desires to be seduced by an adult, and it was
this that was at the root of later conflict.
Most human beings can recall very little of their

Nesting In South Dakota
In South Dakota there is few Osprey left in the wild. The birds are much like Bald Eagles which have
been on the rise. They differ though by appearance and nesting habits. Nesting is one of the main
reason the Osprey are retreating. They do not like to start new nests in places they do not know,
meaning they like to be with their population.
B. About the Osprey The birds live in many areas in the United States around freshwater and seawater.
They are birds of prey with a wingspan of 60 . They are white bodied with a black stripe coming from
their eye to their wings which are black also.
The males choose the nesting place which is ideally in a large tree near bodies of water. They live in
the Black Hills but, with sites like these declining it is making it hard for the population to expand. ...

Osprey are equipped with the best of nature s fishing abilities. They have strong wings, long legs,

monitored before their first flight to make sure they are safe.
D. Management Plan Nesting is vital to the repopulation to these birds, therefore building manmade

in 2010 to 1.27 in 2011. Their quick ratio also rose from .52 in 2010 to .75 in 2011. The catalyst to this
increase comes mainly from an increase in assets and not a decrease in liabilities. A potential reason
for this increase could be due to the fact that Microline signed a ten year note with a debt covenant
stating that the company needed to maintain a current ratio of 1or the note will mature. This could
have led the company to increase their account receivables and inventory in order to bump up their
assets to meet the debt covenant. There interest coverage increased from 2010 to 2011 from 3.8 in
2010 to 5.75 in 2011. This shows an increase in solvency where the firm can cover the interest on it
loans 5.75 times. However, their solvency in terms of interest coverage comes into question as their
short term equities account for $2500 which is not a reflection of consistent cash flow generated from
sales. Without the presence of short term equities Microlines interest coverage actually falls from 3.8

Phenomenology used in Qualitative Research
Phenomenology used in Qualitative Research Many phenomenological methodologies have been
developed and used by qualitative researchers to review individuals experiences. Phenomenology for
organizational research, descriptive phenomenological method, hermeneutic phenomenology,

phenomenological methodologies in qualitative inquiry. Phenomenology for organizational research.
Phenomenology for organizational research was presented by Patricia Sanders in 1982. It is one of the
most popular phenomenological approaches to organize quality research. Sanders (1982) pointed out
that phenomenology for organizational research was a research technique that sought to make explicit
the implicit structure and meaning of human experiences (p. 354). Kram and Isabella (1985) used
phenomenology for organizational research in their pioneering research: Mentoring Alternatives: The

in stores. Everyday people are exposed to the censorship of music especially when listening to music
on the radio. Censorship takes effect every time a word or phase gets bleeped out or removed from a
song. A national debate between artists and government has become a real issue of whether music
should be censored or not. On one hand, artists have the rights to freely express themselves through
music. In opposition, the government can censor music that has any philosophical objections in its
meaning. Artist may feel a challenge in boundaries when it comes to writing and publishing music
since they have to abide by many laws, or accept that their music will be modified. As a teenager that
listens to a variety of different music, I can see why censorship has to take place, however I do
sympathize with artist that may feel artistically blocked. I also

Google Vs. Google Net Worth
Google is a very unique company to say the least. The company was founded by Sergey Mikhaylovich
Brin and Lawrence Page, an American computer scientists and en trepreneurs. The two friends met
while attending Stanford University and created Google as their research project in 1996. Although the
internet search engines existed before, this one was different. While the traditional search networks
determined the page s relevance based on the number of times that the search term was used on the
site, Google engine ranked pages judging their relevance based on the links between the various sites.
Google net worth is currently estimated at $200 billion, making it one of the most valua ble companies
in the world. This company truly is unlike any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We hire people who are smart and determined, and we favor ability over experience. Although
Googlers share common goals and visions for the com pany, we hail from all walks of life and speak
dozens of languages, reflecting the global audience that we serve. Google is known around the world
for the impressive talent they bring in from across the country. The great thing about google is that
they truly believe that great ideas can come from anywhere.
S.w.o.t. Analysis
Now looking at Goodle phone division known to the world as Android it really is quite interesting.
Figure 1 United State Phone Market Share
Now Google has a very strong grip of phones utilizing their operating system. Looking at the figure
above, only Apple does not utilize Google s operating system. This clearly is a compa ny that is
dominating the marketshare, and can affor to go after high profits on their devices, the problem is
Google is not very known for their devices, but we will get into that later on.
Another major strength that Google has is that because this company has such a strong market share in
areas such as Email applications (Gmail), Internet search engines (Google search), consumer maps
(Google maps), there is a healthy and steady ecosystem that this compa ny can and does utilize on
their mobile platform.
Now let s get into some of the weaknesses in this division of Google. For starts unlike Apple they

Sequence Pattern
In sequence pattern I got a score of 27 which means I use that pattern first. In precision pattern I got a
score of 29 which means I also use that pattern first. My score for the technical reasoning pattern was
8 which means I usually avoid it. In confluence pattern I got a score of 22 which means I use it as
needed. With all my scores combined it makes me a dynamic learner. An example of when I used the
Sequence Pattern was when I was in high school and I was in a CNA class doing job shadowing for
the first time. I asked what exactly I was expected to do; what my job duties were as a shadowing
student . I was nervous, of course, so I asked my teacher, whom was a long time nurse, what I was
supposed to be doing exactly. She explained to me and the other students in detail that we were to help
the elderly in and out of bed, to and from the restroom, to get them dressed and to get them to and
from the cafeteria for lunch. That sounded simple enough so we all got started helping the residents
and some of the CNA s who worked there had a completely different way of doing things, not the
exact way as shown by our teacher. I don t like when people do things differently then how I have
been shown and then expect me to do it that way as well. I had to just adjust to it and do it ... Show

I m not the most crafty or out of the box thinkers most of the time but I had to think of a gift that
would be special and unique to give my daughter s papa. Something he didn t already have. So my

I had the idea to have my daughter paint it and write I love my papa on it and put a picture of my

I knew he would cherish. Sometimes all you need is a small idea to get you thinking outside the

The Impact Of Information Technology On Our Nation s...
Abstract
Information technology is becoming an increasingly important consideration in our Nation s security.
There is so much information can be easily accessible, yet terrifyingly detrimental to an individual s
identity or financial security if it lands in the wrong persons hands. Luckily, the National government
started to realize this early on and have since enacted several laws in order to help protect certain
groups. This paper will cover three of these laws, their scope and rationale as well as a case study.
This research is being done with the intent of establishing the importance of these laws by discussing

implementation of laws and regulations that minimize the access of private information and protect
against security breaches.
HIPAA The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), was initially
established as a way to standardize the electronic dissemination of health information across the field
of health care. The Act was initially introduced as the Kennedy Kassebaum Bill and had two primary
objectives: Portability and Accountability. The portability portion was intended to ensure individuals
would be able to maintain insurance between jobs. This portion was implemented very successfully.
The second portion of the act is accountability, which was designed to ensure the security and
confidentiality of administrative information and financial data as it relates to patient health
information.
The Kennedy Kassebaum Bill was renamed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of
1996 (HIPAA), andenacted in August of 1996. Part of the HIPAA legislation requires the DHHS to
broadcast regulations on specific areas of the Act, which were called Rules. The Act is better referred
to as the HIPAA Privacy Rule or Privacy Rule. ThePrivacy Rule forms national standards that protect
certain health information. The protected information includes: Names,

The Causes Of Deforestation
Deforestation is one of the major subject in twenty first century. Humans have been deforestation the
forest for thousands of years. Little we known about the tropical woodland and they are disappearing
at an alarming rate. This is because it occurs mostly in Africa where there are little to no inhabitants.
Leaving us in capable of preventing it. Deforestation is mainly caused by clearing the forest and
woodland for farming, logging, housing, building roads. If we do not stop cutting trees and stop
deforestation, result could be catastrophic.
Non commercial farming operations are one of the reasons for deforestation. One referred to as cut
down and burn agriculture, which takes place when human beings cut, burn, and farm a small patch of
woodland. typically, the farming is successful for two or three years. When the land loses nutrient
from the soil, the location must be deserted, and method repeated in every other location of forest. In
the beginning, many indigenous rainforest tribes in numerous areas of the world practice slash and
burn agriculture without long term damage to the forest; their numbers had been small, and this
allowed for lengthy fallow durations. Inside the farmed areas throughout which the forest could
recover. However, as populations have increased in the tropics, extra regions are farmed, and those
areas aren t allowed sufficient fallow time to regenerate. A second kind for subsistence farming worker
is the thing that the rainforest Realities focus

  • 2. Informative Essay On Speed Skating Speed skating is a Winter Olympic sport that has become very popular over the years. One of the most popular sports in Poland is speed skating. Poland has won many speed skating medals in the Winter Olympics. One of their best speed skaters is named Zbigniew Brodka, who won gold in the 1,500 meter race at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, 2014. The history of speed skating traces back 1,000 years ago in Scandinavia and the Netherlands. They had originally used snowshoes and skis to travel through snow, but realized they could travel quicker across ice, using skates (SSHIST.doc). The first speed skaters used animal bones, and boots made of animal skin to make skates (Thrillspire.com). Speed skating was originally developed as a form of transportation. ... • 3. Importance Of Grit And Growth Mindset Imagine if everyone had grit and a growth mindset, we could achieve what we set our minds to and we could help make students successful. Grit is when you fully apply yourself to achieve your dreams and take mistakes as a guidance for improvement. Growth Mindset is to have an open mind to new ideas and to keep developing as a person. Based off of studies, Grit and Growth Mindset seems to be the most character building traits that have transformed many students live s like us. Grit and Growth Mindset inspires students to be great because a growth mindset can keep improving, grit will lead you to find passion which results in success, and although some may say passion is more important, grit and growth mindset allows you to achieve your dreams. First, a growth mindset can keep improving due to challenges. For instance, Duckworth presents how a growth mindset can keep improving, Dr Dweck has shown that when kids read and learn about the brain and how it changes and grows in response to challenge, they re much more likely to persevere when they fail, because they don t believe that failure is a permanent condition. (Duckworth 5:09). This shows, that even a student who has a growth mindset does not succeed, they are inspired to keep improving. In addition, in an article written by Achieve, presents the concept of how an incredible man conserved his growth mindset, [Milt Campbell] maintained a positive outlook throughout his final days ( Dream Believer ). • 4. To What Extent Does Genetics Affect Human Intelligence To what extent do genetics affect human intelligence (IQ) in relation to monozygotic and dizygotic twins? Precious Obaro Gems Wellington International School Dubai Author Note Introduction This paper will be comparing and providing an evaluation of the extent to which genetic information plays a role in the human intelligence in relation to IQ levels in monozygotic and dizygotic twins. Human intelligence is defined as the ability to mentally solve, learn and reason and due to its nature, intelligence integrates cognitive functions such as perception, memory, language and planning. As a grand basis of the definition of intelligence, intelligence can be calculated and evaluated with the help of standardized testing known as IQ testing. IQ is a quotient of intelligence. (Colom, R., Karama, S., Jung, R. E., Haier, R. J. (n.d.). Human intelligence and brain networks.). The role of genetics and the human genome in intelligence has been discussed by researchers for centuries, the heritability of intelligence as a trait in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Differences in DNA is what causes variation in individuals and this was established in Darwin s theory. Monozygotic and dizygotic twins share significant amounts of their DNA with their other twin, 100% in monozygotic twins and 50% in dizygotic twins. This is why twins are specifically targeted in investigations to find the extent at which genetics influences intelligence. Acquired prosopagnosia (AP) refers to the inability to recognise faces following brain damage, often caused by a stroke or significant head injury: whereas congenital prosopagnosia (CP) is defined as the deficit in face processing which occurs in the absence of any neurological impairment, but has been present since infancy. Although I don t agree with some interpretations of these rules and laws, as I ve grown up I have developed my own code stemming deeply from my religion. For this reason, I believe that divine command/natural law theory are the closest related ethical systems to my own ethical code even though there are many flaws that come with them. Divine command is an ethical system that derives heavily from a religious background. This system believes that since God is the creator and ruler of all, he is the one who decides the ethical and moral principles. It can be simply put as morally right means commanded by God and morally wrong means forbidden by God (Rachel, 2002). Because of this, moral correctness can only be found through religion. Since many of the rules and laws that come from divine command are so adamantly set into place, there are many flaws that can come from them. One major flaw that develops from divine command is one of reason. In the classical sense of divine command all laws come straight from God. With these laws there are no questions asked to if they are truly right or wrong. With this said there are many different situations that can come to mind. One example can be in the form of a question. What would happen if God commanded that murder was considered morally right? With reasoning skills, we can see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a process similar to this, the amount of synapses between neurons is built up during early childhood and then pruned back for the next 30 years of life (5). • 26. How UK Inflation Indexed Gilts Are Priced How UK inflation indexed gilts are priced? There are two methodologies are used in calculating cash flows for inflation indexed gilts because gilts have two indexation lags depending on when they were first launched. Eight month lag Linkers An eight month indexation lag is applied to the calculation for the gilts which were first issued before 2005. The payments on these bonds use the inflation data eight months previously. The adjusted rate of return is based on the nominal rate of return and the RPI adjustment, where the nominal rate of return is fixed and the RPI adjustment varies. Two RPI figures are required to calculate inflation adjustment: one is base RPI figure that concerns the first issue date of the gilt; the other figure is the RPI applicable to the interest payment date. An example is given as follows to illustrate how this methodology is applied. Example: 4⅛% inflation indexed gilts 2030, which was first issued in June 1992 and the relative base RPI is 135.1 (the RPI for October 1991). In order to gain the rate of interest paid in January 1998, the RPI figures for previous May and November in 1998 are also required. The interest rate of return is as follows: 4.125/2×((RPI for May 1997)/(RPI for Oct 1991)) =4.125/2×(156.9/135.1)=2.3953 For the redemption payment per £100 nominal of this bond on maturity is calculated in similar way: 100×((RPI for Nov 2029)/(RPI for Oct 1991)) Three month lag Linkers All the inflation indexed gilts issued from 2005 ... Freud revolutionised the way in which we think about ourselves. From its beginnings as a theory of neurosis, Freud founded and developed psychoanalysis into a general psychology, which became widely accepted as the predominant mode of discussing personality, behaviour and interpersonal relationships. Freud, who had been studying neuropathology, left Vienna in 1885 to continue his studies in Paris under the guidance of Jean Martin Charcot. By the death instinct, Freud meant an urge to self destruction and ultimately a universal impulse to return to an earlier state. The death instinct may express itself in potentially self destructive behaviour such as taking increasing risks, drug or alcohol addiction and attempts at suicide. The death instinct might also be directed outwards in the form of aggression against others. Freud believed that every child is born with a variety of drives and instincts that require nourishment or stimulation. When there is conflict or deprivation of needs, anxiety and insecurity develop. Defensive manoeuvres are adopted to handle the stress, ultimately leading to maladaptive behaviour. These defences operate at an unconscious level and continue into adulthood. So according to Freud the main causes of behaviour disorders are childhood anxieties and the defences erected against them. Freud came to the conclusion based on his clinical experience with female hysterics, that the most instant source of resisted material was sexual in nature. His patients seemed to recall actual experiences of early seductions, often incestuous in nature. Freud s initial impulse was to accept these as having happened but later concluded that rather than being memories of actual events, these recollections were the remains of infantile impulses and desires to be seduced by an adult, and it was this that was at the root of later conflict. The catalyst to this increase comes mainly from an increase in assets and not a decrease in liabilities. A potential reason for this increase could be due to the fact that Microline signed a ten year note with a debt covenant stating that the company needed to maintain a current ratio of 1or the note will mature. This could have led the company to increase their account receivables and inventory in order to bump up their assets to meet the debt covenant.
