Argumentative Essay On Texas
The United States of America shares common borders with Mexico by four of her major States:
California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. These borders serve as critical point of binational
relationship between these two countries and have brought out numerous issues relating to
environmental pollution, trade, and commerce, influx of immigrants, drug interdiction, health related
issues and human rights. Among these four bording States, Texas has the longest stretch of the border
of any State and contains 13 border Counties including El Paso, Laredo Brownville and McAllen.

Essay on The Texas Judicial System
The Texas Judicial System
The Texas Judicial System
The Texas judicial system has been called one of the most complex in the United States, if not the
world. It features five layers of courts, several instances of overlapping jurisdiction, and a bifurcated
appellate system at the top level. The structure of the system is laid out in Article 5 of the Texas
Constitution.
The Texas Supreme Court and Texas Court of Appeals has a bifurcated appellate system at the highest
level. Civil case appeals by the Texas Supreme Court, which also maintains the responsibility for
licensing attorneys. For appeals on criminal cases those got to The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

basis but may be moved in order to equalize the docket. Also the 6th and 12th courts in East Texas,
appellate districts overlap in four counties Gregg, Rusk, Upshur, and Wood. The set up in the East
Texas districts has been heavily criticized as being friendly to forum shopping.
The following the districts and cities they are located:
1st Houston, 2nd Fort Worth, 3rd Austin. 4th San Antonio, 5th Dallas, 6th Texarkana, 7th Amarillo,
8th El Paso, 9th Beaumont, 10th Waco, 11th Eastland, 12th Tyler, 13th Corpus Christi/Edinburgh, 14th
Houston.
The state trial courts of general jurisdiction are the district courts. The district court has exclusive
jurisdiction on felony cases, as well as divorce cases, cases involving title to land, and election contest
cases. It shares jurisdiction with the county courts, and in some case justice of the peace courts, for
civil cases the lowest limit for hearing a case is a mere $200 in controversy, while in Justice of the
Peace courts can hear cases up to $5,000. In a catchall provision it hears all cases in which jurisdiction
is not placed in another trial court.

Go About Preparing For A Writing Assignment
1. How do you typically go about preparing for a writing assignment? Describe the steps you take,
including rereading the assignment, asking questions about it, talking to instructors or friends, jotting
down ideas, gathering information, and so on. How far in advance of the due date do you usually
begin working on the assignment?
Typically, I look at the assignment as soon as I can before the due date in order to begin the
brainstorming process. This could be three months or two days prior to the due date, depending on the
situation. The early brainstorming process creates a general path for my writing process. When I am
ready to begin the writing process, I ask myself what the purpose of the assignment is and what point I
am trying to make. I then begin researching the topic by using mostly online resources, however,
books and interviews are sometimes required. After enough information is found for my assignment, I
begin writing the assignment.
2. When and where do your best ideas come to you?
My best ideas come to me when I am either relaxed in the shower or in the middle of an intense
exercise routine. Although they are extreme opposites, they are some of the only times that I am
completely withdrawn from the outside world.
3. Where do you usually do your writing? Describe this place. Is it a good place to write? Why, or why
not?
I currently live with my sister s family and have one room in there house. I usually do my writing in
my room with the door

Analysis Of Hide And Seek
Hide and Seek was written by Jakayla Towey. It is a horror story surrounding the ever changing life of
Emily. I would recommend this read to those who are interested in psychological horror. Its
development around the game Hide and Seek and the state of being completely insane is very
intriguing and will leave most thinking. The story won wattpad s Watty Award in 2016 for best horror.
The story never heads in an expected direction and always keeps you on your toes anticipating the
next event.
The story begins with a lighthearted game of hide and seek between emily, our main character, Caleb,
Emily s little brother, and Abby, her best friend. Hide and seek is emily s favorite game and plays an
important role in the story hence, Hide and Seek . After their game has ended and abby has headed
home, Emily wakes up in the night to see sirens outside of her home and police shouting come out of
the house . Frightened she hides under her bed hoping that caleb and her family have done the same.
Later, in a police car, emile sees the police take two men and two body bags out of the house. Emily,
while expecting her parents to walk out, soon realizes why her parents aren t walking out of the house,
her parents had been murdered, and she had been sleeping through the entire ordeal. The two would
now have to leave everything and live with the Harmons, a name emily faintly remembers. They

Bilingualism In Richard Rodriguez s Hunger Of Memory
I was 13 years old the first time I traveled to the Czech Republic to visit some family. My family there
spoke very little (if not any) english, so I always wondered the fun of communicating with them by
speaking Czech. I told myself on the plane ride back to the US that I would learn Czech in order to
talk with my family the next time. The second time I went to Europe, we not only went to the Czech
Republic, but to Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Poland. I was so excited to use the little bit
of Czech I learned; not to mention, I was excited to hear all the different languages. By the time I
came back to Europe, most street signs had English subtitles, as well as most food products. My
family even knew fluent English! The memory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Academic research displays that, students who are bilingual have advantages, not only in their literacy
development, but in the development of problem solving skills and other areas of cognition (US
Department of Education). Since learning and using more than one language is beneficial to students,
couldn t it be beneficial to everyone? A simple Spanish menu in every English restaurant could make
an impact on anyone in the daily public. For those like Rodriguez, I think learning more than one
language should not feel forceful nor fearful, but an optional opportunity for more knowledge in
another culture and identity. Personally, I felt less fear and pressure to learn czech when I saw the
English subtitles. The subtitles helped me understand the Czech language more when I compared it to
my own English language. However, I forgot most of my Czech language within a few months in US.

Coup-Proofing Analysis
Lecture 20: When do authoritarian militaries side with protesters? (Nov 15)
In Coup proofing, Military Defection, and the Arab Spring, Michael Makara examines how different
coup proofing strategies help prevent military defection (334). Looking specifically at Egypt, Syria,
and Yemen during the Arab Spring, he claims that whereas parallel security institutions and bribes (
material incentives ) can promote discord that renders the military prone to defection in times of mass
anti government protest, ethnic stacking increases the likelihood of maintaining military loyalty.
Ethnic stacking, he argues, takes advantage of communal ties, and the Syrian regime is a prime
example of a government that employed this tactic (335). Egypt, conversely, ... Show more content on

When the Egyptian Revolution transpired in 2011, Medvedev called Mubarak to communicate his
hope that tensions would be resolved peacefully and, more saliently, stressed the urgency of ensuring
security for the Russian Embassy in Cairo and Russians living in Egypt (Reuters). Only after Morsi s
ousting did relations, particularly military and economic cooperation, between Egypt and Russia
strengthen (Nashashibi); in fact, Putin and el Sisi had met prior to Morsi s ousting (Al Jazeera). With
Yemen, Russia has been calling for a military ceasefire, but is not nearly as invested in the crisis as
Saudi Arabia or the United States is (Lauria). Russia s major intervention has been in Syria, where it
openly stations military assets, built a permanent airbase, and sends attack helicopters against rebel
forces. Russia s exceptionally active backing of Assad s regime has clear potential impact on the
likelihood of military defection. The economic and military resources at Russia s disposal and that it
supplies to the Syrian government consolidate the Assad administration, allowing it to withstand
uprisings in ways that Mubarak and Saleh were unable to. This understanding provides little incentive
for military officials to defect, since they recognize that coup attempts will likely be quashed by the
combined power of Russian and loyalist Syrian forces. Russia s support makes overcoming opposition

INTRODUCTION
A wetland can be described as the place where land meets water. Wetlands can be permanent or
seasonal (Reddam s wetland is seasonal). Wetlands are different to other ecosystems because they
support aquatic flora and fauna. There are different types of wetlands including marshes, swamps,
bogs and fens.
Ecological status refers to the state in which a specific ecosystem is. The testing of a wetland s
ecological status refers to determining the health of the wetland with careful consideration of the
ecosystem involved. This can be determined by looking at the following: physical factors such as
temperature, water depth, hydrology and structure; biological factors such as birds, animals and
vegetation; chemical factors such as pH levels, turbidity and oxygen.
A healthy wetland is able to benefit its own ecosystem as well as the ecosystems surrounding the
wetland. A healthy wetland is able to support the flora and fauna within the ecosystem and still fulfil
its main function dependent on what type of wetland it is.
Aim:
To determine the ecological status of the Reddam House wetland.
Hypothesis:
The Reddam House wetland is healthy.

The Stuxnet Virus
Abstract:
What diplomacy could not achieve, sanctions could not silent, and for which a military option was not
viable, a cyber attack quietly accomplished.
Kim Zetter an investigative reporter with Wired Magazine online calls Stuxnet, a piece of software
that would ultimately make history as the world s first real cyberweapon. (Zetter, 2011, sec. 1)
In his article, Is Stuxnet the best malware ever? Gregg Keizer of Computer World says:

or Israel, that Israeli intelligence tested aspects of the worm using centrifuges identical to Iran s at
Israel s Dimona complex. Even Siemens the German company cooperated with Idaho National
Laboratories in the US to identify the vulnerabilities of computer controllers that the company sells to
operate industrial machinery around the world. Not too long afterwards, those very vulnerabilities
were exploited by Stuxnet.
2. Why a Cyber Attack?
Cyber warfare requires intellect not military might and a country does not have to be a military
superpower to wage a cyber attack. Cyber attack tracks are much easier to cover and are easily
attributable to another entity. While cyber attacks are only recently been declared by our military and
political leadership as acts of war, compared to an actual physical military attack on another country
life can go on as usual for most of the citizens on both sides of the conflict without the slightest idea
that their country is at war. It does not cost billions of dollars to run or manage and is hardly a long
term commitment of hundreds of thousands of troops and the logistics to support them and their
equipment at the front lines. In case of Iran, a cyber attack was the most viable option available to
global powers because the Iranian regime did not hesitate to make threats against the United States
and Israel should it have been attacked militarily to make it stop trying to produce nuclear

The United States Marine Corps has an illustrious history forged in the trials of combat. Throughout
its history, irregular warfare has and will continue to pose challenges for Marines facing new and
radical enemy forces. The rapid, opportunistic, and flexible capabilities of maneuver warfare enables
Marines to combat ambiguous enemies whose warfighting capability and doctrine is based on
irregular warfare principles. Marine Corps units are organized and equipped to facilitate rapid
deployment and to maximize the potential of each asset available to the Marine Air Ground Task
Force Commanders. As we wage war against our nation s foes, the elements of the Marine Air Ground

During this type of warfare, the enemy may have already infiltrated, destroyed, or damaged a foreign
nation s government, essential services or infrastructure vital to the indigenous populace for survival
and governance. Aviation elements accomplish the transport and swift insertion of personnel, supplies,
and materials to assist our forces and to help maintain or rebuild infrastructure. These activities
achieve the overarching effects of building trust and confidence within the local populace to foster
support for our efforts. Additionally, air assets bring tremendous combat power to the irregular warfare
fight. An assortment of ordnance i.e.; precision guided munitions, rapid insertion and extraction
methods, and troop and equipment transport enable our forces to quickly strike, maneuver and gain the
advantage in an irregular warfare engagement. The Aviation Combat Element also allows both the
Ground and Logistic Combat elements to rapidly deploy anywhere in the world. More specifically the
Marine Expeditionary Unit provides a mobile sea based warfighting unit capable of deploying on
short notice. The Aviation Combat Element has the ability to move those combat forces from ship to
shore with an over horizon capability. The ability to quickly move forces around the battlespace
provides opportunities for United States forces to influence the population by conducting meetings
with local leaders and proving our commitment to the people of the affected country. This capability
not only enhances but solidifies the Marine Corps ability to utilize maneuver warfare principles while

Review of Hatchet by Gary Paulsen Essay
Review of Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
I read the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. The book was about a thirteen year old boy named Brian
Robeson who was stranded in a plane crash. He was out in the Canadian wilderness trying to visit his
dad. Brian is left with nothing but his clothing a tattered windbreaker, and the hatchet his mother had
given him as a present.
First as Brian and the pilot were flying to Brian father?s house the pilot was showing Brian how to fly
the plane. ? Here, put your hands on the controls, your feet on the rudder pedals, and I?ll show you
what I mean?(P. 4). During the flight the pilot seemed to be having trouble with pain in his arm and

Brian swam ashore and fell on the beach with soreness and pain. Brian knew that he was out of luck.
Brian sat and slept against a tree until the next day. Brian was left on the beach, all alone by himself in
the Canadian wilderness.
Brian was left only with his clothing and a hatchet that hung from his belt. Brian began to set up a
camp for himself. ? At one time in the far past it had been scooped by something, probably a glacier,
and this scooping had left a kind of sideways bowl, back in under a ledge. It wasn?t deep, not a cave,
but it was smooth and made a perfect roof and he could almost stand in under the ledge?(P 57). Brian
began to hunt for food and found only berries and drank from the lake for water. Brian eventually
created a spear to catch fish and other small animals. This all progressed very slowly. Brian also
eventually found out how to make a fire created by sparks from his hatchet and a rock striking
together. Brian lived for nearly two months in the woods all alone. Each day that Brian lived he
discovered or learned something new. He was living pretty well when he ran into a couple of
unexplainable disasters. First he had shot a bird with a bow that he made of a stick and his shoelace.
He was cleaning the bird and his tools in the lake when a moose trampled on him and tried to kill him.
The moose pushed him down in the water and wouldn?t let him up. ? It was a cow and she had no

Summary Of The Schizophrenics
After watching the video The Schizophrenics, there were several viewpoints and items mentioned that
correspond to previous class discussions, as well as the information provided in the textbook.
Schizophrenia is demarcated as a group of disorders, generally so disabling, that they are highly
ranked in psychological breakdowns. The severity of the symptoms is so extreme that many
schizophrenics were always hospitalized thus, encouraging continuous development in the etiology
and treatment of this disorder.
When describing schizophrenia, it appears that the statement they seem to be in another world is an

The discovery that antipsychotic drugs that blocks D2 receptors suggest that the abnormalities within
the brain are being corrected to some extent. Thus, giving more support to the biological viewpoint.
Additionally, family studies used to support the heredity theory have largely contributed to the
biological point of view as well, but have also raised the question of environmental influences.
Additionally, the various findings on environmental stressors (e.g. new adult stressors) as a causal
factor of schizophrenia have led me to question what lies at the root of schizophrenia. This is largely
related to what we are learning due to the importance surrounding etiology; however, it also gives rise
to the potential of schizophrenia needing a multi theoretical approach. For these reasons, I do not think
that there is one fully supported cause of schizophrenia and the etiology of this disorder can be best
explained through various theories. This also led me to question how can various perspectives come
together and conduct research that would speak to each viewpoint to generate more fruitful findings,
and which points of view should be included and

Language Is Used For Social And Cultural Communication
Oral Language: Language is used for social and cultural communication. Students enter school with a
language base (standard or non standard English) that teachers must build on. Oral language
communication is deeply rooted in learning to read and write. Oral language development lays the
foundation for students development of phonological awareness skills. Teachers can build literacy
experiences around students language skills.
Teaching Tips
Rich teacher talk: during reading and writing teachers used a variety of uncommon words to build
students listening vocabulary. Teachers extend children s comments to be more descriptive and
grammatically correct. Teachers should listen and respond to all comments students make during
literacy interactions.
Story book reading: Read stories, poems and information books during whole and small group.
Teachers support students learning through discussion before, during and after reading. Teachers use
repeated reading of favorite books to build on students retelling and memory.
Alphabet Knowledge: Students understanding that written spelling represents spoken word is crucial
to beginning reading attainment. Learning the letters of the alphabet requires many meaningful
experiences with written language. Teachers should begin teaching alphabet letters using
environmental print and children s names. Although some letters should not be taught together,
children don t learn letters of the alphabet in any particular order or by drilling

Sociology As The Second Father Of Sociology
Neither the life of an Individual nor the history of a Society can be understood without understanding
both (mills, 2017), this is how C. wright mills describes sociology. Every human live in a society,
Sociology is the systemic study of human society and relationships on a group level. And also it
allows looking on the big picture on a group level. The talks about sociology started when industrial
revolution began during late 1700s and 1800s. This essay will give you some information about the
founders of Sociology and their theories. August Comte known as the Father of sociology and Herbert

Being a great philosopher he got interested in studying sociology and he focused on the study of
society which is called sociology . During the days when August Comte started discovering more
about sociology, he found out that there is a system called Positivism . Positivism means checking or
testing if a social method works on human social behavior and sees how societies are structured. His
efforts led to the development of sociology among the people. He kept on trying to promote his idea
around the world. He died due to stomach cancer in Paris on September 5. His great work made him
the Father of sociology. And right after August Comte there was another person with the exact
opposite idea about sociology. William George Spencer s son Herbert Spencer was born in Derby,
England on April 27, 1820. George Spencer was a revolt of the circumstances and developed in
Herbert a hostile to dictator demeanor. George, as his father was kenned, was the progenitor of a

Songs From The North Poem Analysis
The narrator finds comfort and peace in silence and stillness of nature, similarly as in Songs from the
North . In both examples the narrator seems to already be here insinuating that the longing is in fact
not tied to any specific place but time. The narrator has reached the tranquility of mind where the pain
is no longer, but in his hopefulness he is realistic that the relief is only temporary. The narrator seems
to be longing the present moment even before it is gone, thus making him pre nostalgic that is evoked
by the transience nature of life. Similarly as in The Heart of a Cold White Land , in Away the use of
juxtaposition of light and dark characterize the different feelings of the narrator. Light seems to refer
to hope and relief whereas dark relates to feelings of pain and fear.
The last example of longing is also the last song of the triple album, The Clouds Prepare for Battle .
The lyrics represent longing from a different angle than in earlier examples. The narrator is returning

loss of a loved one every time he remembers her. Also in Room and Shadows the narrator has lost

N.R.A s stance on the manufacturing, ownership and distribution of guns.
2. The fallacy of the Second Amendment.
3. The secondary and private sales market
4. The assault weapon s law.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) treats gun control as an individual issue and avoids considering
the problem as a collective safety measure. In 1986 N.R.A passed a legislation that restricts the ATF
(BUREAU OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO FIREARMS) from inspecting the gun dealers only once a
year. It has consistently tried to hinder the funding of ATF and continues to oppose all gun registration
systems that might aid in the tracing of guns used in crime (www.handguncontrol.org/facts). The sad
fact is that the major usage of guns is for criminal purposes. The NRA and manufacturers of guns
suffer if laws complicate the purchase and availability of guns.
A recent development concerning the second amendment is ATTORNEY GENERAL JOHN
ASHCROFT S STATEMENT in a May 17th letter to the N.R.A(www.handguncontrol.org/press)
endorsing the view that the second amendment guarantees the right of an individual ownership for
personal purposes. This is an outright refutation of the decisions of the various Federal and State
judges who consider ownership only with reference to the use of arms by an organized state militia.

the United States for the same reason as well. Such examples include American Beauty, But I m a
Cheerleader, Rent, Brokeback Mountain, and Bruno. Besides movies, anything and everything else on
the media have been closely monitored by the authorities. Authorities in certain countries, especially
Middle Eastern countries, have even gone to the lengths of labelling homosexuality as illegal by law.
This not only affects the thinking of citizens of those countries, but also oppress people that identify as
LGBTQ in those respective countries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the word homosexual is a socially constructed word. According to Creech, sexuality was
only explored towards the end of the 19th century through psychoanalysts as they believed that
sexuality helps understand human personality better. All in all, The Bible encourages a loving, mutual,
caring, committed relationship . Understanding this, churches are beginning to grow more accepting
towards the LGBTQ community (Murphy).
Indic religions, or Dharmic religions, such as Hinduism and Buddhism, do not express strong opinions
on homosexuality. In fact, a third gender is mentioned in an ancient Hindu legal text called Manu
Smriti. This excerpt explains the third gender as such:
A male child is produced by a greater quantity of male seed, a female child by the prevalence of the
female; if both are equal, a third sex child or boy and girl twins are produced; if either are weak or
deficient in quantity, a failure of conception results (3.49).
The third gender is also defined as not procreative according to The Vedas, a Hindu scripture.
However, it is viewed negatively as the third gender is usually affiliated with low class as described in
ancient text (Gyatso). Interestingly, members of the third sex are not frowned upon even though some
ancient Hindu law books describe non vaginal sex as impure. Kama Sutra, a Hindu text that describes

Tyler Perry s films produce a huge number of dollars in the movies, however many are not persuaded

Perry movies are not propelling the dark group but rather affecting the disgrace on African Americans.

Complex Software System Development Projects
In the software industry, it is common place to find large and very complex software system
development projects with the number of individual requirements expected from it running into the
multitude of thousand many times. There are usually more requirements than you can implement in
the allocated stakeholder s time and resources. The software solution that the customer has in mind
and wants to be in place cannot be delivered in a single release. Even if it could be done, it would be a
very costly affair which would eat away a lot of time and pose greater risks due to the nature of the big
bang approach one has to follow to implement it. Further, there will also be restrictions in the form of
capital and time from the stakeholder or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So from this it can be concluded that for any project which has resource restriction, one has to
establish the relative priorities of the requested features, use cases, or functional requirements. This
kind of prioritization helps the software solution provider to plan for staged deliveries, to make the
indispensable trade off decisions and also goes a long way in the resolution of possible conflicts in the
future. In concise, the major factors which lead to prioritization of requirements are: relative
differences in importance, limited project resources, long schedules and budget constraints. If we
manage to implement just those requirements that meet customer and user needs, the software solution
provider reaps the following benefits: The product development time shortens: This is due to the fact
that we have only the major requirements to be implemented now. So, the first release will be ready
for implementation early due to less functionalities involved. The product development cost decreases:
There is a drop in the development cost as we are taking up only the most important requirements and
implementing them. Prioritization: Prioritization means to balance the business benefit of each
requirement against its cost and any implication it might have on the architectural foundation and
future evolution of the project/product. In the road map for product development, only the candidate
requirements are congregated and finally during the release phase only these

How Snowboarding Changed My Life
Hunter S. Thompson once said, Anything that gets your blood racing is probably worth doing.
Throughout life you are probably going to change hobbies and try new things, but your passion is an
activity that you can enjoy doing for the rest of your life. The thing that gets my blood racing is
snowboarding. It has helped me face my fears as a shy and unconfident girl, and bring joy and
excitement to my life. I believe that I will always be able to turn to snowboarding during anytime
throughout my life.
At the age of twelve I started skiing. Not by choice, but because my grade was going and my mom
thought it was an easy way to get out of teaching me herself. Well anyway, after that terrifying trip I
loved it, and believe it or not, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was pleasant enough to be able to stand comfortably outside in a light jacket or sweatshirt. A perfect
day to glide down a powdery mountain along with my best friend. The anticipation was building as I
sat in the back of Mrs. Smith s eighth grade classroom. In a matter of minutes I would be packing my
gear into the car and traveling toward impending doom: Sundown Mountain, twenty one runs of
exhilaration and danger. At that point in time I didn t know whether to be excited or nervous.
Snowboarding was completely new to me, not too much different than skiing except for the fact that
my balance would be shifted differently. I struggled enough as it was keeping my balance on skis.
How could I possibly be able to successfully maintain my balance on a board?
At last, the bell finally rung, and I was headed home to get my gear. Hastily packing because lessons
began at approximately 4:30, with about an hour drive. I hopped in the car next to Carolyn with
minimal excitement. My nerves began to set in. I sat back and attempted to relax while we traveled
past Delaware onto Earlville. Watching cars and fields pass by aided me to relieve some stress. I
quickly forgot where I was going and why. Time flew by in that red Ford Escape. The trip from
Manchester to Asbury seemed to only take fifteen minutes instead of forty five. We arrived far too
soon, yet we were still late.
The parking lot was packed with eager snowboarders and skiers filled with excitement to begin their

Wildlife Is Being Threatened But We Can Protect It
Have you ever wanted to have a bonfire? Do you love the home you live in? Do you ever waste the
water you drink? The next time you focus on these conveniences or advantages of your life, consider
what you re doing to the wildlife environment. Wildlife habitats are being destroyed in many ways by
many factors. For the purpose of this paper I m going to focus on the following five areas.
Increased Development
Fire
Pollution of water
Redistribution of water
Natural Disasters
All three factors above represent destructive factors contributing to habitat destruction. A habitat is
defined as an undisturbed natural region in which wildlife lives. For example, fish live in ponds, bears
and wolves, as well as deer and squirrels live in the forest. Lizards and snakes reside in the desert. To
begin with, increased development is a major effect of threatening wildlife. Agriculture is causing
wildlife to be destroyed because forests are being turned into croplands. They re increasing pressure to
redevelop land conservation and crops. Agriculture is killing wildlife because the habitats are being
taken over by croplands. Deserts and forests are continually being wiped out by developers and
investors who are more interested in making money than preserving wildlife. Habitat destruction is
increased by the rapidly growing human population. As populations increase, we, as humans tend to
demand the use of more agricultural land consumption to build our cities and towns and

Music in Othello
Music in Othello
In Cyprus, observing the joyous reunion of Othello and Desdemona, Iago says to himself that he will
wreck the lovers harmony: O, you are well tuned now! / But I ll set down the pegs that make this
music, / As honest as I am (2.1.199 201). The pegs to which he refers are the tuning pegs on a stringed
instrument. Their love is the instrument on which Iago is planning to loosen ( set down ) the pegs until
the harmony is turned into discord. [Scene Summary]
Because no one like to be a party pooper, Iago sings drinking songs in order to encourage Cassio to
get drunk. Drinking songs tend to be rollicking, jolly justifications of drinking. Iago s first song

Othello s occupation s gone! (3.3.345 357)
The music of war, including the thunder of the cannon, makes Othello feel alive, fully himself, but
without Desdemona s love he feels that he s nothing. [Scene Summary]
Shortly after Othello has berated Desdemona about the handkerchief, Cassio appears to once again ask
Desdemona to intervene on his behalf. She tells him that My advocation is not now in tune; / My lord
is not my lord; nor should I know him, / Were he in favour [appearance] as in humour [attitude] alter d
(3.4.123 125). In other words, now is not a good time to talk to Othello; he s not himself, and if his
appearance had changed as much as his attitude, she wouldn t recognize him. The phrase in tune is so
common (in Shakespeare s time as well as ours) that it may be a stretch to call it a musical image.
[Scene Summary]
At a moment when Iago is trying to build Othello s jealousy into a murderous rage, Othello begins to
think of what a beautiful, sweet woman Desdemona is. Iago tells him that he needs to put such
thoughts out of his mind, and Othello says, Hang her! I do but say what she is. So delicate with her
needle. An admirable musician! O, she will sing the savageness out of a bear (4.1.187 189). However,
it s not Desdemona s music, but Iago s words that win the battle for Othello s soul. Othello s mood
becomes ever more savage, and he plans the time, place, and manner of

The Role Of Excessive Rewarding For Children In Sports
Excessive rewarding for children in sports can play a role in depleting their competitive traits. Being
competitive can be a good thing that will help children later in life when trying to be the best
candidate for a job. There has been a seismic shift in American culture in an effort to make each child
feel special. The mentality has created an atmosphere where everyone gets a trophy, but awarding
medals and trophies just for participation sets the bar very low, according to experts. Trophies make
kids feel like finishing in last place may be good enough ( Mens Journal

Anthem Protests In Anthem Protests
National Anthem protests started on August 14th, 2016 with Colin Kaepernick sitting on the bench
during the national anthem. This continued for another two games before he talked to former Green
Beret and former NFL player Nate Boyer about the best way to make his point without disrespecting
the military; Kaepernick then began taking a knee instead of simply sitting on the bench during games
beginning on November 1st, 2016. There has been talk across the nation from last year into this year
about whether or not this protesting should be happening, and about what the protesting was
legitimately about, with even the president weighing in on the matter; everyone seems to have an
opinion about the issue. But the National Anthem protests should stop because they have goals that are
vague and unclear; refusing to stand is disrespectful to soldiers and veterans alike; and refusing to
stand makes people too angry to consider the message behind the protest, effectively stopping any
progress that could be made by the protests.
We have all heard of the National Anthem protests in the NFL at this point, but if you went around and
asked different people around you what the goals of these protests are, you would draw a couple of
answers. One answer you would receive would be that the protests are against Donald Trump, which
might make you scratch your head in wonder: why would people think that? Perhaps as a result of
Trump s long railing tweets about how NFL players that don t stand

Software as a Service
Many years ago, to use software, businesses and organizations purchase traditionally packaged
applications, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop, and install them locally onto their
computers. In the 1990 s, upon the expansion of the Internet, Application Service Provider (ASP) was
introduced wherein businesses were provided with software that they can access over the Internet
through a web browser. But then, service and financial failures occurred as a result of actions such as
rushing the market offerings before issues were solved and failing to cut the costs for the customers at
a greater extent because of having a unique server for each customer. Those scalability problems or
the ability to adapt to increasing demands, and reliability problems eventually led to its downfall.
Software as a Service (SaaS) or also known as on demand then evolved from the ASP model. With
SaaS, software is not installed in the customer s computer but in the provider s server somewhere else,
and to access the software, the customer needs to connect to that server through either a thin
client, which is a computer or a program that relies on another computer, or a web browser such as
Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. Basically, it is also a software delivery model.
But unlike the ASP, it has increased user awareness and is a multi tenant based service which means
that repairs, updates, and upgrades are applied once for all customers instead of one at a time, making

Molecular technology has become the talk of mainstream...
Molecular technology has become the talk of mainstream science and technology today. As the
aviation industry searches for new forms of efficient aviation, molecular technology would be the only
logical place to start. For this report the various beneficial uses of carbon nanotubes, in form of
buckminsterfullerene, will be both discussed and theorized. The infinitesimal molecular structure of
carbon 60 has provided a revolutionary solution for flight efficiency and advancement today. Through
the use of an experimental material derived from carbon nanotube technology some of flights oldest
conjectures will be solved. Manifested in the form of paper like sheets, these carbon molecules have

Through the use of Smalley s advance laser, laurites were able to create clusters of carbon 60 and 70
atoms (The Discovery). These buckyballs formed when graphene was evaporated into an inert
atmosphere at very high temperatures (The Discovery). Their unique nanospheric structure gave birth
to new questions, ultimately expanding the field of practical uses in the real world today.
Buckypaper is a small molecular structure that is most commonly associated with the shape of a
soccer ball. About 1/50000th the diameter of a single human hair, this incredibly small material
possesses superior properties that make it a remarkably great conductor for both heat and electricity
(Ray B). Its small, yet effective, attributes are a result of the powerful atomic bonds found within
unique molecular fibers of these nanostructures (Boyd J). About 100 times stronger than steel and only
one sixth of its total weight, buckypaper is the perfect replacement for all composite materials
currently used to construct aerodynamic crafts (Boyd J). The molecular size of buckypaper s
nanospheric structure has made production both a very tedious and expensive task. Research is
currently being done by students under the direction of Dr. Ben Wang at Florida State University in
hopes of creating practical, but affordable, methods of buckminsterfullerene production for future
commercial uses. Though students at FSU have been given over 3.7 million in

Steven Truscott s Wrongful Conviction
Introduction
14 year old Steven Truscott gave his classmate Lynne Harper a ride on his bicycle on June 9, 1959.
Truscott had dropped her off before they parted ways. Lynne was reported missing later that night, and
two days later, her body was found on a nearby farm. She was sexually assaulted and strangled to
death. The community was horrified by what happened to this young girl and everyone was
determined to find the killer. Immediately, investigators became fixated on Truscott as the prime
suspect since he was the last person to see Lynne. They didn t consider any other suspects, even
though there was no physical evidence linking him to the murder. He was arrested 24 hours later, and
stood trial as an adult. (Steven Truscott | ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case is of interest to both myself and society because Truscott was wrongly convicted based on
the limited scientific knowledge available in 1959, and the police s tunnel vision. They were so
adamant on finding the killer that they became fixated on Truscott as the only suspect, and did t bother
widening their search. Because of this, evidence was tampered to frame Truscott. What happened to
Truscott was a miscarriage of justice, which affects society s confidence in the legal system, and it
undermines the criminal justice system s legitimacy.
This case is also of interest because the actual perpetrator was not convicted, because the scientific
techniques that were used in 1959 were so limited. By looking at this, we can clearly see how far
forensic science has come in the past 50 years, and how different the outcome of the case would have
been had this had taken place in the present. We can revisit this old murder case and identify different
scientific tools that we could use today to solve the crime. We can also see how applying the
knowledge we now know about the human body and forensic science can help to exonerate the
innocent, like it did with Truscott, and even help to find the real culprit.
Scientific Methods Used and Evaluation of those Methods
In the 1950s and 1960s, there were many limitations on the science and methodology used in
investigations, because there was a lack of knowledge. For example, forensic

Similarities Between Friends And Friends
Friends is a show that took place from 1994 through 2004 about Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica,
Joey, and Phoebe navigating their lives together by having friendships and romances while spending
much of their time at Central Perk and Monica s apartment. How I Met Your Mother aired from 2005
through 2014 and tells the story of how Ted came to meet his wife with his friend group: Marshall,
Lily, Barney, Robin, and Tracy. The mother of his children, Tracy, is not a character on the show until
the last season as it is the story of how he grew to be the man his children s mother knew. Friends and
How I Met Your Mother are both great sitcoms with undeniable similarities with the characters and
location, but the better show is Friends due its final season.
Friends and How I Met Your Mother have a multitude of similarities that make the shows eerily
similar. The characters seem to be alike with the same traits are Ted and Ross, Marshall and Chandler,
Robin and Rachel, Joey and Barney, Lily and Monica, and Tracy and Phoebe. Ted and Ross both have
intellectual jobs, Ted is an architect and Ross is a paleontologist. At different points during their career
they work as professors for major New York universities. Their respective friend groups consider them
the nerd and find that a lot of what is said by them is correcting other people.
An additional similarity is that both are in love and have unreliable relationships with the charming,

Analysis Of Satchmo Blows Up The World
ixty years ago, Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, became a flashpoint in the nascent civil
rights movement when Governor Orval Faubus refused to abide by the Supreme Court decision in
Brown v. Board of Education. Faubus famously deployed the state s National Guard to prevent nine
African American students from attending classes at the high school. In the midst of the crisis, a high
school journalist interviewing Louis Armstrong about an upcoming tour asked the musician about his
thoughts on the situation, prompting Armstrong to refer to the Arkansas governor as several varieties

Kaepernick began his silent, kneeling protest at the beginning of last season, not as an assault against
the United States military or the flag but as a dissent against a system that has, with a great degree of
consistency, failed to hold accountable police who kill unarmed citizens. Since he did this, forty one
unarmed individuals have been fatally shot by police in the United States, twelve of them African
American, according to a database maintained by the Washington Post. The city of St. Louis recently
witnessed three days of protests after the acquittal of Jason Stockley, the former officer who, while
still working for the city s police force, fatally shot Anthony Smith, an eighteen year old African
American motorist who had led officers on a chase. Stockley emerged from his vehicle, having
declared that he would kill the motherfucker, then proceeded to fire five rounds into the car. Later, a
firearm was found on the seat of Smith s car, but the weapon bore only Stockley s DNA. The issue is
not imaginary.
Yet the belief endures, from Armstrong s time and before, that visible, affluent African American
entertainers are obliged to adopt a pose of ceaseless gratitude appreciation for the waiver that spared
them the low status of so many others of their kind. Stevie Wonder began a performance in Central
Park last night by taking a knee, prompting Congressman Joe Walsh to tweet that Wonder was another

The Moonstone Religion
The Moonstone written by Wilkie Collins is a superb read. The titular object is the main focus of the
novel. The Moonstone s whereabouts are unknown for much of the novel. Several detectives including
Superintendent Seagrave and Sergeant Cuff try to solve the case. While there are differences between
the First Narrative of the First Period by Gabriel Betteredge and the First Narrative of the Second
Period written by Drusilla Clack, I think many of the elements remain the same. Christianity is a
theme throughout the book. The inferiority of women is a sexist idea in both narratives as well.
Finally, both narrators have genuine concern for Rachel. Christianity is so important in this book as a
whole because the narrators leading up to page 263 constantly bring up things from that religion. Miss
Clack sort of rides a high horse too, as she tries to encourage others to accept Christianity. She has a
sense of Christian duty and an idea of what is worthy of a Christian Englishwoman (239, 241). Her
devotion even goes to the point that Rachel interprets something Miss Clack said as suggesting that
Rachel s mother went to hell (261 262). While some of her ideas may be rooted in reality, some of her
other ways of thinking are arguably delusional. For instance, she calls herself a Christian persecuted
by the world (263). Not only does she feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown when Betteredge flat out narrates that he regards any other opinion of Rachel other than
that of Rachel s mother with a lofty contempt (177). He also believes in Rachel s innocence and tries
to defend her from Sergeant Cuff s scrutiny (177, 178). As for Miss Clack, she clearly says to Rachel
when she is getting ready to move in with Mr. Bruff that I can t part with you! (261). She tries to get
Rachel to live with her, even resorting to bringing up Christianity and hinting to Rachel that Rachel s
mother may not have went to heaven (261,

  • 4. Go About Preparing For A Writing Assignment 1. How do you typically go about preparing for a writing assignment? Describe the steps you take, including rereading the assignment, asking questions about it, talking to instructors or friends, jotting down ideas, gathering information, and so on. How far in advance of the due date do you usually begin working on the assignment? Typically, I look at the assignment as soon as I can before the due date in order to begin the brainstorming process. This could be three months or two days prior to the due date, depending on the situation. The early brainstorming process creates a general path for my writing process. When I am ready to begin the writing process, I ask myself what the purpose of the assignment is and what point I am trying to make. I then begin researching the topic by using mostly online resources, however, books and interviews are sometimes required. After enough information is found for my assignment, I begin writing the assignment. 2. When and where do your best ideas come to you? My best ideas come to me when I am either relaxed in the shower or in the middle of an intense exercise routine. Although they are extreme opposites, they are some of the only times that I am completely withdrawn from the outside world. 3. Where do you usually do your writing? Describe this place. Is it a good place to write? Why, or why not? I currently live with my sister s family and have one room in there house. I usually do my writing in my room with the door ... • 5. Analysis Of Hide And Seek Hide and Seek was written by Jakayla Towey. It is a horror story surrounding the ever changing life of Emily. I would recommend this read to those who are interested in psychological horror. Its development around the game Hide and Seek and the state of being completely insane is very intriguing and will leave most thinking. The story won wattpad s Watty Award in 2016 for best horror. The story never heads in an expected direction and always keeps you on your toes anticipating the next event. The story begins with a lighthearted game of hide and seek between emily, our main character, Caleb, Emily s little brother, and Abby, her best friend. Hide and seek is emily s favorite game and plays an important role in the story hence, Hide and Seek . After their game has ended and abby has headed home, Emily wakes up in the night to see sirens outside of her home and police shouting come out of the house . Frightened she hides under her bed hoping that caleb and her family have done the same. Later, in a police car, emile sees the police take two men and two body bags out of the house. Emily, while expecting her parents to walk out, soon realizes why her parents aren t walking out of the house, her parents had been murdered, and she had been sleeping through the entire ordeal. The two would now have to leave everything and live with the Harmons, a name emily faintly remembers. They arrive at the harmons stunning mansion and meet Mr. and Mrs. Harmon. • 6. Bilingualism In Richard Rodriguez s Hunger Of Memory I was 13 years old the first time I traveled to the Czech Republic to visit some family. My family there spoke very little (if not any) english, so I always wondered the fun of communicating with them by speaking Czech. I told myself on the plane ride back to the US that I would learn Czech in order to talk with my family the next time. The second time I went to Europe, we not only went to the Czech Republic, but to Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Poland. I was so excited to use the little bit of Czech I learned; not to mention, I was excited to hear all the different languages. By the time I came back to Europe, most street signs had English subtitles, as well as most food products. My family even knew fluent English! The memory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Academic research displays that, students who are bilingual have advantages, not only in their literacy development, but in the development of problem solving skills and other areas of cognition (US Department of Education). Since learning and using more than one language is beneficial to students, couldn t it be beneficial to everyone? A simple Spanish menu in every English restaurant could make an impact on anyone in the daily public. For those like Rodriguez, I think learning more than one language should not feel forceful nor fearful, but an optional opportunity for more knowledge in another culture and identity. Personally, I felt less fear and pressure to learn czech when I saw the English subtitles. The subtitles helped me understand the Czech language more when I compared it to my own English language. However, I forgot most of my Czech language within a few months in US. The US simply does not hold many opportunities to retain other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Coup-Proofing Analysis Lecture 20: When do authoritarian militaries side with protesters? (Nov 15) In Coup proofing, Military Defection, and the Arab Spring, Michael Makara examines how different coup proofing strategies help prevent military defection (334). Looking specifically at Egypt, Syria, and Yemen during the Arab Spring, he claims that whereas parallel security institutions and bribes ( material incentives ) can promote discord that renders the military prone to defection in times of mass anti government protest, ethnic stacking increases the likelihood of maintaining military loyalty. Ethnic stacking, he argues, takes advantage of communal ties, and the Syrian regime is a prime example of a government that employed this tactic (335). Egypt, conversely, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the Egyptian Revolution transpired in 2011, Medvedev called Mubarak to communicate his hope that tensions would be resolved peacefully and, more saliently, stressed the urgency of ensuring security for the Russian Embassy in Cairo and Russians living in Egypt (Reuters). Only after Morsi s ousting did relations, particularly military and economic cooperation, between Egypt and Russia strengthen (Nashashibi); in fact, Putin and el Sisi had met prior to Morsi s ousting (Al Jazeera). With Yemen, Russia has been calling for a military ceasefire, but is not nearly as invested in the crisis as Saudi Arabia or the United States is (Lauria). Russia s major intervention has been in Syria, where it openly stations military assets, built a permanent airbase, and sends attack helicopters against rebel forces. Russia s exceptionally active backing of Assad s regime has clear potential impact on the likelihood of military defection. The economic and military resources at Russia s disposal and that it supplies to the Syrian government consolidate the Assad administration, allowing it to withstand uprisings in ways that Mubarak and Saleh were unable to. • 8. Life Sciences Grade 12 Investigative Research LIFE SCIENCES GRADE 12 INVESTIGATIVE RESEARCH TASK 2016 Jordan Soares INTRODUCTION A wetland can be described as the place where land meets water. Wetlands can be permanent or seasonal (Reddam s wetland is seasonal). Wetlands are different to other ecosystems because they support aquatic flora and fauna. There are different types of wetlands including marshes, swamps, bogs and fens. Ecological status refers to the state in which a specific ecosystem is. The testing of a wetland s ecological status refers to determining the health of the wetland with careful consideration of the ecosystem involved. This can be determined by looking at the following: physical factors such as temperature, water depth, hydrology and structure; biological factors such as birds, animals and vegetation; chemical factors such as pH levels, turbidity and oxygen. A healthy wetland is able to benefit its own ecosystem as well as the ecosystems surrounding the wetland. A healthy wetland is able to support the flora and fauna within the ecosystem and still fulfil its main function dependent on what type of wetland it is. Cyber warfare requires intellect not military might and a country does not have to be a military superpower to wage a cyber attack. Cyber attack tracks are much easier to cover and are easily attributable to another entity. While cyber attacks are only recently been declared by our military and political leadership as acts of war, compared to an actual physical military attack on another country life can go on as usual for most of the citizens on both sides of the conflict without the slightest idea that their country is at war. It does not cost billions of dollars to run or manage and is hardly a long term commitment of hundreds of thousands of troops and the logistics to support them and their equipment at the front lines. In case of Iran, a cyber attack was the most viable option available to global powers because the Iranian regime did not hesitate to make threats against the United States and Israel should it have been attacked militarily to make it stop trying to produce nuclear ... • 27. Anthem Protests In Anthem Protests National Anthem protests started on August 14th, 2016 with Colin Kaepernick sitting on the bench during the national anthem. This continued for another two games before he talked to former Green Beret and former NFL player Nate Boyer about the best way to make his point without disrespecting the military; Kaepernick then began taking a knee instead of simply sitting on the bench during games beginning on November 1st, 2016. There has been talk across the nation from last year into this year about whether or not this protesting should be happening, and about what the protesting was legitimately about, with even the president weighing in on the matter; everyone seems to have an opinion about the issue. But the National Anthem protests should stop because they have goals that are vague and unclear; refusing to stand is disrespectful to soldiers and veterans alike; and refusing to stand makes people too angry to consider the message behind the protest, effectively stopping any progress that could be made by the protests. We have all heard of the National Anthem protests in the NFL at this point, but if you went around and asked different people around you what the goals of these protests are, you would draw a couple of answers. One answer you would receive would be that the protests are against Donald Trump, which might make you scratch your head in wonder: why would people think that? Perhaps as a result of Trump s long railing tweets about how NFL players that don t stand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Software as a Service Many years ago, to use software, businesses and organizations purchase traditionally packaged applications, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop, and install them locally onto their computers. In the 1990 s, upon the expansion of the Internet, Application Service Provider (ASP) was introduced wherein businesses were provided with software that they can access over the Internet through a web browser. But then, service and financial failures occurred as a result of actions such as rushing the market offerings before issues were solved and failing to cut the costs for the customers at a greater extent because of having a unique server for each customer. Those scalability problems or the ability to adapt to increasing demands, and reliability problems eventually led to its downfall. Software as a Service (SaaS) or also known as on demand then evolved from the ASP model. With SaaS, software is not installed in the customer s computer but in the provider s server somewhere else, and to access the software, the customer needs to connect to that server through either a thin client, which is a computer or a program that relies on another computer, or a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. Basically, it is also a software delivery model. But unlike the ASP, it has increased user awareness and is a multi tenant based service which means that repairs, updates, and upgrades are applied once for all customers instead of one at a time, making ... • 30. Molecular technology has become the talk of mainstream... Molecular technology has become the talk of mainstream science and technology today. As the aviation industry searches for new forms of efficient aviation, molecular technology would be the only logical place to start. For this report the various beneficial uses of carbon nanotubes, in form of buckminsterfullerene, will be both discussed and theorized. The infinitesimal molecular structure of carbon 60 has provided a revolutionary solution for flight efficiency and advancement today. Through the use of an experimental material derived from carbon nanotube technology some of flights oldest conjectures will be solved. Manifested in the form of paper like sheets, these carbon molecules have been transformed into a material better known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the use of Smalley s advance laser, laurites were able to create clusters of carbon 60 and 70 atoms (The Discovery). These buckyballs formed when graphene was evaporated into an inert atmosphere at very high temperatures (The Discovery). Their unique nanospheric structure gave birth to new questions, ultimately expanding the field of practical uses in the real world today. Buckypaper is a small molecular structure that is most commonly associated with the shape of a soccer ball. About 1/50000th the diameter of a single human hair, this incredibly small material possesses superior properties that make it a remarkably great conductor for both heat and electricity (Ray B). Its small, yet effective, attributes are a result of the powerful atomic bonds found within unique molecular fibers of these nanostructures (Boyd J). About 100 times stronger than steel and only one sixth of its total weight, buckypaper is the perfect replacement for all composite materials currently used to construct aerodynamic crafts (Boyd J). The molecular size of buckypaper s nanospheric structure has made production both a very tedious and expensive task. Research is currently being done by students under the direction of Dr. Ben Wang at Florida State University in hopes of creating practical, but affordable, methods of buckminsterfullerene production for future commercial uses. • 31. Steven Truscott s Wrongful Conviction Introduction 14 year old Steven Truscott gave his classmate Lynne Harper a ride on his bicycle on June 9, 1959. Truscott had dropped her off before they parted ways. Lynne was reported missing later that night, and two days later, her body was found on a nearby farm. She was sexually assaulted and strangled to death. The community was horrified by what happened to this young girl and everyone was determined to find the killer. Immediately, investigators became fixated on Truscott as the prime suspect since he was the last person to see Lynne. They didn t consider any other suspects, even though there was no physical evidence linking him to the murder. He was arrested 24 hours later, and stood trial as an adult. (Steven Truscott | ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This case is of interest to both myself and society because Truscott was wrongly convicted based on the limited scientific knowledge available in 1959, and the police s tunnel vision. They were so adamant on finding the killer that they became fixated on Truscott as the only suspect, and did t bother widening their search. Because of this, evidence was tampered to frame Truscott. What happened to Truscott was a miscarriage of justice, which affects society s confidence in the legal system, and it undermines the criminal justice system s legitimacy. This case is also of interest because the actual perpetrator was not convicted, because the scientific techniques that were used in 1959 were so limited. By looking at this, we can clearly see how far forensic science has come in the past 50 years, and how different the outcome of the case would have been had this had taken place in the present. We can revisit this old murder case and identify different scientific tools that we could use today to solve the crime. We can also see how applying the knowledge we now know about the human body and forensic science can help to exonerate the innocent, like it did with Truscott, and even help to find the real culprit. Scientific Methods Used and Evaluation of those Methods In the 1950s and 1960s, there were many limitations on the science and methodology used in investigations, because there was a lack of knowledge. For example, forensic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Similarities Between Friends And Friends Friends is a show that took place from 1994 through 2004 about Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey, and Phoebe navigating their lives together by having friendships and romances while spending much of their time at Central Perk and Monica s apartment. How I Met Your Mother aired from 2005 through 2014 and tells the story of how Ted came to meet his wife with his friend group: Marshall, Lily, Barney, Robin, and Tracy. The mother of his children, Tracy, is not a character on the show until the last season as it is the story of how he grew to be the man his children s mother knew. Friends and How I Met Your Mother are both great sitcoms with undeniable similarities with the characters and location, but the better show is Friends due its final season. Friends and How I Met Your Mother have a multitude of similarities that make the shows eerily similar. The characters seem to be alike with the same traits are Ted and Ross, Marshall and Chandler, Robin and Rachel, Joey and Barney, Lily and Monica, and Tracy and Phoebe. Ted and Ross both have intellectual jobs, Ted is an architect and Ross is a paleontologist. At different points during their career they work as professors for major New York universities. Analysis Of Satchmo Blows Up The World ixty years ago, Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, became a flashpoint in the nascent civil rights movement when Governor Orval Faubus refused to abide by the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education. Faubus famously deployed the state s National Guard to prevent nine African American students from attending classes at the high school. In the midst of the crisis, a high school journalist interviewing Louis Armstrong about an upcoming tour asked the musician about his thoughts on the situation, prompting Armstrong to refer to the Arkansas governor as several varieties of motherfucker. Since he did this, forty one unarmed individuals have been fatally shot by police in the United States, twelve of them African American, according to a database maintained by the Washington Post. The city of St. Louis recently witnessed three days of protests after the acquittal of Jason Stockley, the former officer who, while still working for the city s police force, fatally shot Anthony Smith, an eighteen year old African American motorist who had led officers on a chase. Stockley emerged from his vehicle, having declared that he would kill the motherfucker, then proceeded to fire five rounds into the car. Later, a firearm was found on the seat of Smith s car, but the weapon bore only Stockley s DNA. The issue is not imaginary. Yet the belief endures, from Armstrong s time and before, that visible, affluent African American entertainers are obliged to adopt a pose of ceaseless gratitude appreciation for the waiver that spared them the low status of so many others of their kind. • 34. The Moonstone Religion The Moonstone written by Wilkie Collins is a superb read. The titular object is the main focus of the novel. The Moonstone s whereabouts are unknown for much of the novel. Several detectives including Superintendent Seagrave and Sergeant Cuff try to solve the case. While there are differences between the First Narrative of the First Period by Gabriel Betteredge and the First Narrative of the Second Period written by Drusilla Clack, I think many of the elements remain the same. Christianity is a theme throughout the book. The inferiority of women is a sexist idea in both narratives as well. Finally, both narrators have genuine concern for Rachel. Christianity is so important in this book as a whole because the narrators leading up to page 263 constantly bring up things from that religion. Miss Clack sort of rides a high horse too, as she tries to encourage others to accept Christianity. She has a sense of Christian duty and an idea of what is worthy of a Christian Englishwoman (239, 241). Her devotion even goes to the point that Rachel interprets something Miss Clack said as suggesting that Rachel s mother went to hell (261 262). While some of her ideas may be rooted in reality, some of her other ways of thinking are arguably delusional. For instance, she calls herself a Christian persecuted by the world (263). As for Miss Clack, she clearly says to Rachel when she is getting ready to move in with Mr. Bruff that I can t part with you! (261).
