My Vacation In Life
The feel of the hot sun beating down on my forehead. The sound of people cheering and
chatting. The taste of the delicious sample of fudge that I was just given from a small shop. I
come across a huge billboard in bold blue letters. Where am I? I have just arrived in Branson,
Missouri, where my family and I plan to have an amazing vacation away from home. To arrive in
Branson, we first had to drive down to Missouri in my mom s silver van. As it was my parents,
my three brothers, and me, the car was very crowded with all of our belongings that we needed
for the trip crammed into the car with us. During the long and arduous car ride that dragged on
for hours and hours, we figured out all of the activities that we hope to attend throughout the week
of our trip. After discussing all of our plans, we decide that we will go to Silver Dollar City, which
is an amusement park, a waterpark called White Water, and many stores including Branson s
Landing, Tanger Outlets and the Five and Dimes store. My dad is very organized, and he is also
a perfectionist. He takes out a yellow lined notebook and writes down a list of everything we are
going to do for each day of the four day long vacation. As he finishes, we finally arrive in
Branson, so we quickly check in, grab our room keys, and take all of our belongings up to our
room. In my opinion, I believe that unpacking everything and taking it up the five flights of stairs
where our room is located is the worst part of the

Impostor Syndrome
When the dean told a forum of professors that he felt like a fraud during his graduate research,
Jane knew what he meant. The dean said that he was worried his program acceptance had been a
mistake and he d blow his cover. He thought everyone else in the program was so much smarter,
even though he had more laboratory experience and better grades. For years, he was scared that
any second someone would reveal him to be a fraud, terrified to speak up because he was certain
someone would question him, and positive that his life would fall apart at any second. If you feel,
like he did, that your accomplishments are just luck or a mistake and your life could collapse at

Benefits Of Andrew Jackson
Corrupt politicians have always been an issue. Many debate that Andrew Jackson was one. He
went beyond the bounds of his power, forced thousands of natives off their land down the trail of
tears , and claimed to fight for common individuals , a group which apparently only includes free
white men. Today, many of our previous historical figures have become controversial from a moral
and political standpoint, especially Andrew Jackson. This is due to his ownership of slaves, and his
ability to follow rules, or lack thereof. Andrew Jackson s Presidency should not be admired by
our current generation because it harmed many people, and he broke many constitutional laws.
Andrew Jackson s political career was harmful and non beneficial. Andrew Jackson s Presidency
should not be admired by our current generation because it harmed many people. When Andrew
Jackson became President, he gained executive control over all of the land. This also meant that
he had easier control over the Native Americans, and could force more of them off the land. In
fact, Andrew Jackson became a main proprietor of the tragic Trail of Tears, a thousand mile forced
trip to new lands which cost one quarter of the 16,000 natives sent down it their lives. As it
happened in history, Marshall ruled that the Cherokeenation was a distinct community occupying its
own territory... The legal victory proved of little benefit to the Cherokee nation, however. The

Summary Of Democracy Of America By Alexis De Tocqueville
In Democracy of America chapter XVII written by Alexis de Tocqueville, he discusses the plight
of indians(natives). Tocqueville talks about how he believed the fate of Native Americans would
be to completely deprived of liberty. In addition to what he believed, Tocqueville says, The
success of the Cherokees proves that the Indians are capable of civilization, but it does not prove
that they will succeed in it (page 401).Whenever the Indians were able to submit to civilization
they were never able to succeed and Tocqueville saw that from similar situations in Native
American history. He predicts that Native american nations were set to suffer destruction and also
that natives will never adapt themselves to reality, if they attempt to it will be too late. We see that
Alexis de tocqueville s observation proves to be correct in the contemporary stories of Sherman
Alexie. Lewis owens believes that Alexie paints a bitter picture against natives and he is correct in
saying that Sherman Alexie s stories incorrectly shows self destruction, the lack of family life and
the inability of natives to blame anyone but themselves for their situation on the reservation.
Sherman Alexie s interconnected stories describes the life of Native Americans living on the
spokane indian reservation. He attempts to display the natives relationships, history and desires but
does otherwise.Instead many can conclude that his contemporary stories portray self
deprivation,isolation from society and no

Critical Analysis Of The Franklin Series By Paulette...
Critical analysis of the Franklin series by Paulette Bourgeois A children s story is the first step a
child is introduced to in terms of reading and literature. These books give children enjoyment,
develops their feeling and imagination. And it might also help children resolve problems by
creatively portraying the issue in the book and also by teaching how to deal with it in an
entertaining way. For example in FranklinFibs, Paulette Bourgeois innovatively explains how lying
can be bad and how it can impact a child. This probably teaches the childmoral values and also
entertains them. Getting a child to sit through an entire book is a hard task. Since children are
known to be fidgety and playful. To get the child s attention Paulette Bourgeois uses rhyme
scheme and words which are simple. Eg. In Finders keepers for Franklin Franklin can count by
twos and tie his shoes . These makes children like them and enjoy them. Brenda Clark the
illustrator of the Franklin series uses colors which pop and are vivid to get a child s attention.
The colors which are used in the Franklin series are bright red, green, and yellow and so on. From
this one can conclude that Clark uses colors which are bright and signify happiness avoiding colors
like black which are gloomy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they could do. In the climax Franklin explains why he lied and does something which he really can

Stereotypes Of Nationalism And Racism
Introduction Nationalism is, according to AP World History textbook The Earth and Its Peoples, a
political ideology that stresses people s membership in a nation (Bulliet). This term, often connected
to patriotism and unity, is also seen as a synonym for racism and bigotry (Stevens). Though
nationalism has had a positive effect on many nations some would even claim it to be the most
influential idea in unification during the 1800s it has also been detrimental to world cultures
(Bulliet). Though nationalism may not be the same as racism, there is a fine line between innocent
passion for one s country and ethnic superiority (Ezzat). Extreme nationalism is shown in acts
against foreign cultures such as genocide, assimilation, media hate... Show more content on

Instead of trying to stop nationalism itself, the solution should be to stop some of its effects. One
way to counteract extreme nationalism is to support acts that bring awareness to and try to end
genocide; there are organizations that fight for genocide awareness, such as the United States
Holocaust Memorial Museum ( Jewish Population of Europe in 1945 ). Some countries already
put in place measures to protect minorities, such as the countries who ban holocaust denial. There
is no way to stop hate, but people can be aware of their own nationalism, and how it can be
detrimental. Nationalism has its benefits but it also has its damaging aspects, like genocide, racism,
assimilation and hate speech. Because of these negative effects, nationalism is a driving force in
dehumanization of world

Flight Essay
You guys will never believe what happened to me on my flight. You know what a grumpy flier I
am, too, so you ll all find this super entertaining, I m sure.
I m sitting on my plane from Hartford to New Orleans. I have an aisle seat, of course, and I m
hoping it s not a full flight.
Yeah, right.
It s practically standing room only, and I can feel the plane getting warmer as passengers pack in
like sardines. There are few things worse than being trapped in a metal container with 200 of your
closest sweaty friends. A splitting headache and a spoiled appetite means I m about as warm and
pleasant as a female anglerfish.

megaphone so everyone can hear him talking. No one shall be spared.
New Orleans, I say with almost a maniacal smile this time, flicking my head in his direction
dramatically, then back down just as quickly this time without removing my earbuds.
Oh, I ve been there! Now he s going to proceed to tell me why he was there, who he knows there,
what they did there, what they ate, how they were feeling, what shoes he was wearing. Then he
s going to ask why I m going there. He s going to be surprised when I tell him I m from there and

it and all the polite conversation you re supposed to make with a plane passenger who does not

Control of Virtual Networks Spanning Multiple...
6.2 Virtual network ID, Virtual link ID:
In order to control virtual networks spanning multiple infrastructure domains, the virtual networks
must be identified by a virtual network ID. Additionally the virtual links are also needed to be
identified which can be done by using virtual link ID. One of the solution would consist of simply
mapping the virtual link ID to whatever data link layer specific tag is in use. A number of available
link virtualization techniques such as ATM, Ethernet VLAN could be used for this purpose. This
Virtual link ID can be used for both virtual link identifier and a tag for data forwarding.
12
Scalability is a major requirement for virtual networks. For this reason, virtual link aggregation
will constitute an important requirement for network virtualization. Virtual link aggregation can
be defined as a set of virtual links that follow a common path and are similarly treated between a
pair of virtual nodes. It can be performed by carrying at least two types of identifiers in the data
plane, one for virtual network identification and another for hop by hop forwarding. Hence, virtual
link aggregation enhances scalability and also improves performance.

grows about 5% to 6.5% yearly. The figure also shows that aviation sector will continue growing
for the next 30 years almost at same level. In 1994, the aviation sector provided 24 million jobs
globally and financially provided $1,140 billion in annual gross output (Lee, September 2000).
The companies operating aircrafts look for aircrafts with highest performance to make the best
profit. The key performance for that is the fuel consumption per passenger kilometre. Figure 2
shows that from 1960 to 2008 the fuel consumed per passenger kilometre has been reduced almost
to half, almost 27000 new commercial jet aircraft sold since 1950s (Daniel Rutherford, Mazyar

Hinduism In Bali Essay
Hinduism in Bali
Indonesia is one of the biggest Muslim countries in the world, populating over 250 million people.
With that said, there is one island in Indonesia where the majority of the people are Hindu, Bali.
Bali is not a huge island but it is one of the most tourist attraction spots in the country. Bali has
become the most Hindu dominated island, from daily rituals to the architecture of the buildings,
everything has a Hindu influence. However, Hinduism in Bali has been a deviation of Hindu where
they are a strong influence from Animism and Old Javanese traditions. To this day, Bali contain

cultural differences between the other Islands. Today, Bali is mostly Hindu dominated community
in the country and only consisting 10% of every other religion.
All religion in the world has their deviation from the original religion that was first introduced,
Hinduism in Bali is no different. Since the original Religion in Indonesia, Animism, there some its
influence in other religion in the country. Some animals and object become sacred in some of the
religion. Animism is the belief that supernatural essence exists in the inanimate objects and
animals. It first enters Indonesia in around the first century, right before Hinduism. But soon loses
ground with other major religion in Indonesia, now it s a small percentage. Why does animism
need to be brought up in this topic? Animism had a great influence on the culture and deviation of
Hinduism that makes was Bali as it is today.
Bali is the image of an Indian culture and old Javanese combination, where the Hinduism is the
part of India and Animism is the part of Old Javanese; this being the reason why many
architectures in Bali is influenced by. For example, the architecture is followed by several
philosophies, one being the mostly known philosophy, Tri Hita Karana. Tri Hita Karana is a
concept that combines of 3 factors: Atma (Human), angga (nature) and khaya (god); these factors
come from Hinduism. Buildings such as Ngurah rai

Zen and the Enlightened Mind Essay
Zen and the Enlightened Mind
I have forgotten everything. I don t remember a single word (Masunaga 36). This is the mind of
one who seeks the Way. In A Primer of Soto[JS1] Zen Dogen explains the Way of the Buddha and
stresses the importance of sitting in meditation or zazen as a means of reaching the manifestation of
wholeness. The manifestation of wholeness is a state in which one abandons both mind and body
and empties oneself of ignorance, delusions, and dualistic modes of thinking. One who is free
from dualistic modes of being enters a world in which both subject and object exist. This is a non
objective mode of being where all self centeredness has been emptied, where words and concepts
are used not to divide but to unite, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the practice of the Way, Dogen places a strong emphasis on zazen or sitting in meditation. One
who meditates properly realizes that the practice of meditation and Enlightenment are one in the
same. In A Primer of Soto Zen, Dogen states that zazen is the practice of the Buddha. Zazen is
the ultimate practice. This is indeed the True Self (Masunaga 44). In the practice of zazen one
empties the self and enters a mode of being that is in itself Enlightenment. The experience of
Enlightenment within zazen reveals that the entire world is filled with Buddha nature. This is
something that the unenlightened eye does not see but the Enlightened eye is able to grasp
immediately and intuitively (Earhart 101). Thus, Dogen believes that life is most real when a
person sits in meditation. He says; Only when you sit straight and look into yourself, does it
become clear that [you yourself are changing and] the objective world has a reality apart from you
(Tsunda 246). Therefore during meditation one is free from a individual centered or egocentric
position which distorts reality. The Enlightened being or the one who practices zazen will see
things, including the self as they truly are. Dogen realizes the power of zazen thus, he teaches that
students should devote all their efforts to this

Comparing Islam And Baha I And Islam
It s incredible how two religions can be so different yet so similar. Whether it be the various
branches of Christianity, the Chinese religions, or even Judaism and Islam, they have so much in
common when you work down to the roots of the religions. For starters, I will be comparing Islam
and Baha i. Part of the reason that Baha i and Islamare so similar is because Baha i gets its start
from some of the base beliefs of Islam. Some of the similarities between the two are the fact that
both have obligatory prayers. With Islam, a believer would pray five times a day. They pray at
daybreak, noon, mid afternoon, sunset, and evening. When Muslims do their prayers, there are
specific movements and gestures involved. Also they must face Mecca,... Show more content on

The Islamic faith has taken a firm stance on their belief of Baha i. They take the teachings of the
Baha i religion as the teachings of heretics. Muslims have ridiculed, persecuted, and executed
followers of this faith since 1850, when they executed the Bab.
The similarities of these two religions are uncanny. They are so closely related, and the
differences seem so miniscule, at least to the eye of an outsider looking in. When it come to the
prayer life of members of the two religions, they are almost identical. They both pray multiple
times a day, prayer is obligatory for both, there are movements and gestures to go along with the
prayers, the prayers are done facing a certain location, either Mecca or Qiblih, and they are both
rooted from the same region in the world. In all reality the only major difference causing these
two religions to tear each other apart, is what they believe about the manifestation of Allah. Other
than that they are both monotheistic, follow teachings from the prophet Mohammad, and have a
regulated form of prayer for members of the religion to follow. So like I said at the start, like any
religion and/or its branches, they can be practically identical, but so very different at the same time.
There are three major monotheistic religions still in practice today. They are Islam, Judaism, and

Single Parenting Effects
Single Parenting and Its Effects on Everyone
According to Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2007, which is a report
released by the U.S. Census Bureau, almost 13.7 million single parents had custody of their 21.8
million children under the age of 21. (2009) 21.8 million children make up over 18% of all the
children in the U.S. There are a multitude of effects when single parenting is present. Children that
are involved in a single parent situation usually don t have the same economic or human resources
that are available to children that involved in two parent family homes. The children are more
likely to be high school dropouts, have teen pregnancy or be the cause of it, and to experience
divorce in their own adult lives, when compared to two parent traditional families. Children
from single parent families often have a lower self esteem and usually lack financial stability.
Not every effect is negative though. Some positive effects include, less parental conflicts and
more bonding with one individual parent, faster maturity, and a better sense of responsibility.
Why is all of this? Being a single parent can bring a plethora of problems. It is much harder to
maintain a set discipline routine when there is just one parent in the household. This one parent
must play both the good cop and the bad cop role. It is much harder to discipline when you are the
only parent. But the most difficult task of all while being a single parent is trying to find a

Political Economy And Urban Development Essay
Introduction
In recent years Bangladesh has achieved rapid economic growth and significant progress in social
development despite many other problems. The enviable GDP growth and many other social and
environmental successes have gained until now. But still Dhaka is one of the least livable cities in
the world. Political economy and urban planning both are complex and people and state oriented.
Before discussing about the political economy of urban development process it is necessary to clear
the concept of political economy and the economic system of Bangladesh.
Political Economy
Political economy is the study of production and trade and their links with custom, government
and law. It is the study and use of how economic theory and methods influence and develop
different social and economic systems, such as capitalism, socialism and communism, and it
analyzes how public policy is created and implemented. Since various individuals and groups have
different interests in how a country or economy is to develop, political economy as a discipline is
a complex field, covering a broad array of potentially competing interests (Investopedia).
The term political economy is derived from the Greek polis, meaning city or state, and oikonomos,
meaning one who manages a household or estate. Political economy thus can be understood as the
study of how a country the public s household is managed or governed, taking into account both
political and economic factors (Encyclopedia

Holbein s Portrait Of George Gisze Analysis
Based on this week s assigned chapter, West, Introduction, answer these questions.
1.What does West say about the space in Holbein s portrait of George Gisze? What is in the space
and what is the contradiction she sees between the things and the figure?
Holbein s portrait is one that contains many contradictions. The composition is somewhat
confusing, for it is a meticulously detailed painting; yet, the painting is riddled with perspectival
impossibilities. The space surrounding Gisze is cluttered with objects that look entirely out of place
in the portrait. These objects, so carefully rendered, are at odds with each other, and the
surrounding area. The sitter is depicted in a most uncomfortable manner; each part of his body is
oddly positioned. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most often, the function of the portrait determined the status of portraits. For instance, when a
portrait was a likeness of an important historical figure, it was thought to be of higher status. If a
portrait was of a funerary nature, its status would probably be considered to be lower because its
subject could be considered to be of less importance. During the Renaissance and the years that
followed, the portrait s status became less highly regarded as this led to a democratization of
portraits. Before this, it was far less common for those with low income or rank to be able to sit
for a portrait. As artists began to focus on simply being portraitists, it allowed for more people to
be able to have their portraits

Women just as their male counterparts, have a right to actively participate in leadership in any
facets of the society. In fact, they are permeating every domain of activities with assertiveness and
proven competence, and making in roads into hitherto male monopoly of executive management
roles in organizations especially in the developed countries. This study will seek to gain an insight
into the leadership styles adopted by female head teachers of basic school in the Effia Tanokrom
Circuit of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana. It will also investigate
the challenges they face in their line of duty, and how these challenges could be surmounted to
enhance their performance. The Ghana Education service and other teacher association.
Significance of the study will lie in its capacity to contribute to the debate on female leadership,
particularly in our country. It is hoped that the results of the study when disseminated through
publication, will inform prospective female head teachers in basic schools about the challenges that
they should anticipate and the various strategies they can employ to surmount the situation. It is
hoped that this will encourage female head teachers who have similar challenges to develop similar
strategies to help them. It will also serve an additional

The Others
Film Analysis: The Others
The Others is a horror film released on August 10th 2001, directed by Alejandro Amenabar. The
film received 83 percent positive reviews on the movie review site, Rotten Tomatoes . The
majority of the positive reviews related to an exceptional performance by Nicole Kidman, who
plays Grace Stewart. The website consensus stated; The Others is a spooky thriller that reminds us
that a movie doesn t need expensive special effects to be creepy . The film does have some good
and intense moments, but the 83 percent that people gave it may be slightly more than it s

Firstly, relating to one of Sigmund Freud s Key elements of horror fiction this film creates an
atmosphere that arouses a strong emotional response in the viewer. It does this by causing us to
wonder if all of the characters are simply crazy in their own ways, or if this creepy old house
contains more than meets the eye. We begin to feel horribly uncomfortable at how angry Grace
becomes with her daughter, and slightly creeped out by what s going through Anne s head when
it comes to her ghost stories. Secondly, this story features the theory that the mind finds
pleasure in any kind of stimulation including fear, and we like to feel outside of our element.

Informative Essay About Anime
Anime, is a term that is used to represent Japanese animation (Lamarre 1). It is a combination of
both form of content and form of expression. However, there seems to be more emphasis on form
of content rather than expression when discussing anime. Form of content includes the genre, story
and narrative while form of expression includes the animation and the style. Form of content can
be described as what the audience is being shown and the message that is conveyed. On the other
hand, form of expression emphasizes how the animation is shown and as a means for the animation
to be shown. In this paper, the first episode of the television animeseries Pretty Guardian Sailor

When Sailor Moon is being introduced, the camera is moved up gradually from Usagi s bed to
her face. The camera remains on her face until she realizes she s late for school. Then, there is a
sudden zoom in of her alarm clock, a zoom in of Usagi, and a zoom out of her house. This
emphasizes that s late for school and she suddenly wakes up and runs down the stairs. As she
runs down the stairs, a selection process is used where only her legs are shown to be moving. As
she speaks to her mom, Usagi is the one moving while her mom remains still throughout most of
the scene in the same position, along with the background which is still aswell. However, when
she is out the door and running, the background moves along with her. This demonstrates a pull
cels technique since the single image is pulled across the background as Usagi is running towards
school. There is also stillness in the background in various scenes. When Usagi is kneeling on the
street and contemplating about showing her mother her test, we see people in the background.
These people are still and do not move, even when she Usagi walks down the road. During these
type of scenes, sound would be the carrier of information since the background is still. Thus, Usagi
speaking is what conveys the information to us rather than the illustration. Another scene which
demonstrates more movement in camera is when Usagi is home to show her mother her test. The

An Hour Response
In Story of an Hour , written by Kate Chopin, there were quite a few unexpected events. Initially, I
expected the story to be longer than two pages. I also thought that the story s name could have been
different. For example, the story instantly starts off by talking about Mrs. Mallard s heart problem,
and that fact is repeated throughout the story. Why not title it something like Matters of the Heart?
But, after reading the story I realized that timeis an important aspect of the story all the events in
the story happen within the hour, and Mrs. Mallard mentions time on multiple occasions She
breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a
shudder that life might be long (Page 279). In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that the first theme this story shows is that life can change in an instant. This shows
multiple times throughout the story, such as when it was believed that Mr. Mallard died With
Brently Mallard leading under the list of killed (Page 278) or when Mrs. Mallard did actually die
When the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease of joy that kills (Page 280). This
leads me to my second theme, which is to not take things for granted. Mrs. Mallard might not
have loved her husband the way he had loved her, but she expected to see him come home that
day. The same could be said when Mrs. Mallard was comprehending her newfound freedom she
had hoped for (and expected to) live a life after her husband had died Spring days, and summer
days, and all sorts of days that would be her own (Page 279). On a lighter note, the third theme I
believed was in this story was to not jump to conclusions unless you see it for yourself. Mrs.
Mallard believed that her husband had died because her husband s name was in the newspaper
on the list of those killed in a rail accident. Obviously, the mistake was not intentional, but it had
severe results. I also believe that this story s message was mainly a bash on society as a whole.
This story reflects how society treated women in the 1800s which was not good. Back then, women
were treated horribly and granted, things are not perfect now, but

Is work a route out of poverty?
In recent years there has been much debate on the subject of work and is work the true route out
of poverty? This piece of work will show both sides of the story as in how people look at the
topic from government officials to the common person. It will look at policies that government
have set to get people back to work. This piece of work will look at a number of different
sources. There are many that still believe that staying on benefits is the best choice for them and
there is much evidence to support this point as well, this point can be seen more and more in the

In truth, there are millions who still live in a poor household and this is even when there is at
least one occupant that is in a full time job, these people are still in poverty because wages are not
keeping up with the rate of infliction. In recent years the number of household that are working
and that are still in poverty has actually increased. Although in recent years the number of
households that have no one working in them and that were in poverty has declined, so it can be
seen that in some cases work is not the route out of poverty. Buck, (2008)
The more you look into this subject in depth the more you see that there seems to be no way out
of poverty even if the person is working in a full time job. The state of the nation report which
was done by Alan Milburn suggests that work is no longer the way out of poverty because of the
rise in day to day living which has been rising for many years, but the minimum wages has not
being keeping up with this rise. Alan Milburn believe that to help with the minimum wage, the
winter fuel allowance should be cut. He pointed out that pensioners are not affected by the down
turn as much as younger people that are still working. This point was seen to be citizen heavily.
Alan Miburn also say in the report that there should be more of a performance related pay for

Columbus Day Should No Longer Be A National Holiday
John Oliver is correct when he asserts that Columbus Day should no longer be a national holiday.
Columbus Day is the day we celebrate when Christopher Columbus landed in the New World. I
believe we should not celebrate Columbus Day because I m sure we are celebrating a murder and
the person supported in owning or controlling of a person. During that time of landing in the New
World, he went on a killing spree of humans and of in slaving the Native Americans.
Columbus Day shouldn t be a holiday anymore because all the Indians he enslaved and killed

Idol In The Prince
The main influence on society are the people with the most power, who the average everyday
person aspires to be. What makes someone an idol ? An idol is a person or thing that is greatly
admired, loved, or revered; a person who individuals yearn to be. People have a need to seek
themselves in others, it is a characteristic of human nature to want to belong and fit in. This is what
can make an idol or celebrity so influential and powerful. People admire people of power because
they have traits, values and qualities that the average person wishes to possess and replicate in

The ideal idol gained their power through being remarkably intelligent and liable. Machiavelli is
the perfect example of this, gaining his power through being a political leader, accessible for
people to seek themselves in. This justifies people s need for power, and therefore envying
Machiavelli, due to his political power. Machiavelli influences the modern political science we
still use today, and continue to pave his paths. His book, The Prince uses Renaissance values
and applies them to politics, intriguing most everyone. His book targets powerful men, teaching
them how to gain and maintain power. It is not at all necessary for a prince to have all the good
qualities which I have named, but it is necessary to seem to have them (Machiavelli). Although
Machiavelli gained his power, not every man can, to this extent, Machiavelli is saying that in
order to build the status of an idol, you must project the idea of power. It is of known fact that
people with power are admired, thus, Machiavelli wrote a book teaching individuals how to gain
power, and become and idol themselves. This allowed Machiavelli to create a stir and shock the
Western world (ABC Clio), and become the idol that we know him as today. Machiavelli is the
turning point where men start to value power, seeking to find Machiavelli in

Who Is Julius Caesar Tragic Hero
In the play by William Shakespeare, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Julius Caesar is the dictator
of Rome. The Senate of Rome is not pleased with Caesar as a dictator; nor do they want Caesar
to become a King. Some members of the Senate, Conspirators, worked to kill Caesar to prevent
him from becoming king, in effort to protect the Republic of Rome. Because of the way Caesar
had bettered Rome and the way he died many consider him a tragic hero. It is debated who the real
tragic hero is: Julius Caesaror Marcus Brutus, a conspirator who plots to kill Caesar. To be a tragic
hero a character must possess three traits: a status of nobility, a tragic flaw, and accept his or her
fate. Throughout the play it is clear that Julius Caesar has all of the required traits. Julius Caesar
is the true tragic hero in the play. In 44 B.C., Julius Caesar was the most powerful man in the
world. Caesar had taken control of Gaul, grew wealthy, and raised an army in eight years time.

Symbols In John Steinbeck s The Red Pony
The Red Pony Essay
John Steinbeck wrote the Red Pony in 1933. He wrote the book to show the hardships of
California and the struggles they faced on a daily basis. John Steinbeck is unique because he uses
a minimalist form of writing. Themes are a very important part of the Red Pony as are symbols
and the sections. I enjoyed reading this book because of these things.
The theme of The Red Pony is maturity and coming of age. This was a good topic for a book in
that time because all ranches were spaced out and children spent most of their time by themselves.
John Steinbeck did a terrific job of tying growing up and maturity into a ordinary ranch life. Jody
changes from a boy to a man when he is giving a pony named Gabilan. The book starts out as a boy
who forgets to do his chores and ends as a boy who is so mature that he thinks of others before
himself. Jody sighed deeply. It s a long time, isn t it? And then it ll be about two years. Jody cried
out in despair, I ll be grown up. Yep, you ll be an old man, said Billy, (p.52). ... Show more content

He uses Symbols to give more detail about the book without telling the reader. Almost all of the
symbols of The Red Pony are death or growing up. The cypress tree symbolises death because it is

His father said that there is nothing in the mountains but when he gets older he wonders if his father
lied and there s something in the mountains. This symbol shows maturity because he is thinking for

The Hersey And Blanchard Model As A Situational Leadership...
Developed by Professor Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard in the 1970s, The Hersey and
Blanchard Model is defined as a situational leadership model which suggests that there is no
single optimal leadership style, and successful leaders adjust their styles based on follower
maturity (Investopedia, n.d.). This represents a direct link to my management style, as I
consciously tailor a customized approach to every new task, based upon the scope of the
challenge, the resources at my disposal, and the skillsets available to me. I m comfortable acting
unilaterally, delegating work, or acting as a participative leader, dependent on whichever approach
is best for the task.
Strength 2: Able to Quickly Identify Team Strengths/Weaknesses
Delegating is one of the four leadership styles under the Hersey and Blanchard model, and it is
defined as a style where leaders are responsible for their teams, but provide minimum guidance to
workers or help to solve problems (Spahr, 2015). To delegate work effectively, a leader must be
able to quickly assess the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals he is working with to best
ensure the efficiency and quality of the work performed. I pride myself in a near uncanny ability
to quickly access a person s professional strengths and weaknesses after only a brief period of
observation and work, and if I am ever in doubt, I m not above asking direct questions to ascertain
which individuals are the best resources to use in accomplishing a

The Horse Dealer s Daughter, By D. H. Lawrence
Entertainment versus Art
Literary and commercial fiction are the two types of fiction that Authors all over the world present

that anyone can enjoy. Literary fiction does not offer a clear way for one to understand and literary
fiction is not created to be understood. Literary fiction makes readers do all the work and find
meanings all by oneself. It is vital to be able to determine a literary work from a commercial one

In The Horse Dealer s Daughter, by D.H. Lawrence, the literary nature is evident early on in the
story. Literary fiction does not have a likeable main character or protagonist; in the story one
doesn t know who the main character is and of the choices none are likable. All of the brothers in
the story make fun of the sister so one wouldn t like any of those choices, even with the sister she
has no obvious characteristics nor does she perform any actions for her to be considered
likeable She would have been good looking, save for the impressive fixity of her fact, bull dog,
as her brothers called it. (Lawrence 507) Literary fiction also does not have a clear theme or
purpose; the story doesn t have any lesson to be taught or point to be drawn, however it is
simply telling a story. Literary fiction leads the audience to do the thinking for themselves,
nothing is clear cut or obvious. The ending of the story leaves one confused and gives one the
option to choose what ending the story has But she only sobbed terribly, and cried: I feel awful. I

What Do You Mean By Bringing Your Dog To Work

The Conflict Between Israel And Palestinian Refugees
Going after their independence, Israel was looking for the support of big and powerful countries,
and the cooperation of the surrounding states. Unfortunately, the Israeli independence movement
did not turn out to be so easy. As the surrounding Arab nations began to get angry with the
preferential treatment of the British, tensions rose between Israeland the Palestinians. Consequently,
because of the superior army and the support behind Israel, the wars resulted in an abundance of
Palestinian refugees that still struggle to establish their own state today. Through many efforts and
support systems, international aid has been offered to the Palestinian refugees, but as proven by the
millions of refugees that still live in the UNRWA camps today, none of these tactics have worked.
Although international organizations were ineffective in solving the conflict between Israel and
the Palestinian refugees, the establishment of an Arab state early on would have prevented a future
humanitarian crisis; demonstrating the preferential treatment within foreign intervention.
Leading up to the wars between Israel and the Arabs, Israel was getting favorable treatment from
the British, as Palestinians were left to fight against the odds. If this one sided contract and way of
thinking had not existed, both the Arabs and the Jews would have been satisfied. In the late 19th

Sigmund Freud s Theory Of Phychoanalysis
Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist best known for developing the theories and techniques
of psychoanalysis. Freud was the founding father of psychoanalysis which is a method through
which an analyst unpacks unconscious conflicts based on the free association, dreams and fantasies
of the patient. Sigmund Freudwas greatly influenced by the work of his friend and colleague Josef
Breuer. Together the two published their theories and findings in Studies of Hysteria. Eventually
the two parted ways because of different ideas. Freud s theories were and still are some of the most
influential academic concepts.
Freud believed that a humans most basic drive is the sex drive. Sigmund Freud developed the
theory known as the Psychosexual stages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third stage in this theory is the phallic stage. The phallic stage lasts from three to six years of
age. During this stage the sexual energy is focused on the genital, and boys and girls develop the
family romance. Boys imagine marrying their mother when they grow up and girls do the same
with their father. Children must learn to give up these desires and begin to identify with the
parent of the same sex. Between the age six and twelve a child moves to the latency stage. Freud
believed that during this stage the sex drive goes underground. Children move from the fantasies of
marrying one of their parents to a new realization that must learn to become a grownup. At this age
children transfer their interest from parents to peers. At the age of twelve the separation of sexes
begins to change. This stage is the genital stage. At this point the sexual energy becomes focused on
the genitals and sexual interest amongst peers begins to occur.
Sigmund Freud is one of the most famous psychologist which gives reason for why all of his
theories are highly recognized. His stages of psychosexual are no exception. This theory may even
have more recognition considering it is so controversial even to this day.
Freud s Psychosexual Stages are not exactly direct within the educational system. Unlike John B.
Watson s Classical Conditioning Theory which is seen throughout the school and is learned, the
Psychosexual Stages Theory is more developed by

Student Loan Crisis Is A Crisis
Seventy percent of college graduates left school with almost thirty thousand dollars in student
loans. (Johnson, Student Loans ) There is currently a debate about whether or not student loans are
a crisis or if this crisis is just a myth. In the article, Here s Your Crisis:
Student Loan Debt Isn t A Myth, it describes how student loans are a huge crisis, and the article,
The Myth of the Student Loan Crisis is about how college students loans do not amount to a crisis.
The student loan crisis is a legitimate problem, not a myth. College students do not realize the risks
they take when they acquire student loans. Student loans can and do have negative effects on the
economy and there are also hardships the students will face in the future.
One reason that supports the issue of student loans being a crisis is the negative effects on the
economy. For example, students who are in debt cannot spend money on expensive items.
People who want nice cars, jacked up trucks, enormous boats, and other items will not be able to
afford these items. Also, student loans are responsible for the second highest form of consumer
debt. (Denhart, College Crisis Is Crippling ) Higher national debt means fewer jobs and increased
interest rates. Lastly, is the inability to start new businesses, which would benefit the economy, due
to income debt ratio. These three examples show the negative effects on the economy from student
loans.
In addition, students will take on these loans without

The Importance Of Book 22 Of The Iliad
Book 22 of the Iliad (Death of Hector) extensively explores the need for bravery in the face of
impending danger. In the contemporary world, different parts of the world have experienced
situations that require people to stand up for the country. As seen recently in Europe, there has
been a wave of terrorist attacks in major cities in Germany and England and in response, gallant
soldiers have fought to keep the terrorists at bay, to avoid a repeat of the same. Citizens have also
shown their humane side by coming out in large numbers to help where they could by offering
material or any other kind of support. In this case, the focus is on how Hector valiantly stood up
for his city, to fight for it despite knowing that Achilles might probably... Show more content on

Seeing that Hector would lose against Achilles, Zeus sympathizes with him and is tempted to
rescue him but is rebuked by Athena who says that Hector s fate is to die this way. Athena even
states that Hector s fate is beyond Zeus s ability to save him in which case he relents and allows
fate to take its course. In fact when Achilles fails to catch up with Hector, Athena tips the scales
in Achilles favor. She further poses as Hector s brother giving him false confidence that he has
someone to support him in the war that breaks out between the two. Athena assists Achilles in
fighting Hector by handing him back the spear while Hector is not aware. From the above
description, Athena s character captures the life of the societal members willing to go great
heights for the destruction of their fellows. The same energy she used to help Achilles, she
could have used the same energy for the protection of Hector who was fighting for a more
worthy cause of defending his city and ridding it of the interference of the outsiders. When Zeus
tries using his power to save Hector, he is rebuked by Athena who claims it is his fate to die in
the hands of his enemies. The sharp contrasts between Zeus and Athena capture the stark realities
in the real world where there are people with good and ill motives. While there are those who are
willing to go out of their way for the good of the society,

Christian Brothers Academy
I can surely say that my senior year would not be nearly as enjoyable without the GURU program.
The ability to facilitate an engaging discussion with not one but two groups of freshmen at
Christian Brothers Academy is something I look forward to every cycle. By discussing some
relatively controversial subject topics with these freshmen, I put myself in a role model position,
one to influence positive decision making in order for these kids to make their own transition into
AcademyMen, to really make the most out of their four years at CBA. I have learned a lot about
the ten freshmen that I oversee. I can say that I know each of them pretty well now. But finally, I
can say that I have also learned a lot about myself over this past semester... Show more content on

Also, it definitely affects my worldview with God and my Christian morality in the context of a
LaSallian school. We owe everything that we have become to God, and personally I owe a lot
to Christian Brothers Academy for making me the Academy Man that I am today. Moreover, I
see myself as a liaison between these freshmen and the CBA faculty, staff, and family in order
for them to eventually transform themselves in their lives while keeping God as a major focus.
By embracing my own self value through Christian morality, I must also encourage these
freshmen that they are valuable because of their relationship with God in this LaSallian school,
exemplifying the teachings of St. John Baptist de La Salle. As an example, Peck States in The
Road Less Traveled, this feeling of being valuable is a cornerstone of self discipline because
when one considers oneself valuable one will take care of oneself in all ways that are necessary.
Self discipline is self caring (Peck 24). Self discipline is so important in my own life, and I look
to teach the freshmen the importance of it as well. My own relationship with God is one based on
self caring, the petitioning for forgiveness and the constant gratification that goes along with it.
When it comes down to it, we all have the free will to believe what we want to believe, however, it

Anna s Case Study Of Isolated Children
Language: It can be used to start wars, and to say the words, I love you . Language is incredibly
important to how we are as people because it is the major medium of social interactions. Many
features in how we are as people, are socially determined; therefore, social interaction is the
foundation of personality, and social interactions happen primarily through the exchange of
understood words language. As seen in Anna s case, studies of isolated children have shown that
depriving children of human contact has detrimental effects on their mind, personality, and
physicality. Without language, we cannot derive thoughts, feelings, and ideas from external

Foreaskin Research Paper
Foreskin Hygiene, Pediatric
The foreskin is the loose skin that covers the head of the penis (glans). Keeping the foreskin area
clean can help prevent infection and other conditions. If this area is not cleaned, a creamy
substance called smegma can collect under the foreskin and cause odor and irritation.
The foreskin of an infant or toddler does not need unique hygiene care. You should wash the penis
the same way as any other part of your child s body, making sure you rinse off any soap. Cleaning
inside the foreskin is not necessary for children that young.
RETRACTING THE FORESKIN
Usually, the foreskin will fully separate from the glans by age 5 years, but it may separate as early
as age 2 years or as late as puberty.
When the foreskin has separated from the glans, it can be pulled back (retracted) so that the glans
can be cleaned.

Forcing the foreskin to retract can injure it and cause problems.
Children should be allowed to retract the foreskin on their own when they are ready.
KEEPING THE FORESKIN AREA CLEAN
Before puberty, the foreskin area should be cleaned from time to time or as needed.
After puberty, it should be cleaned every day.
Until the foreskin can be easily retracted, wash over the foreskin with soap and water.
When the foreskin can be easily retracted, wash the area under the foreskin in the shower or bathtub:
1 Gently retract the foreskin to uncover the glans. Do not retract the foreskin farther back than is
comfortable. The distance the foreskin can retract varies from person to person.
2 Wash the glans with mild soap and water. Rinse the area thoroughly.
3 Dry the glans when you get out of the shower or bathtub.
4 Slide the foreskin back to its regular position.
Teach your child to perform these steps on his own when he is ready to start bathing himself.
During urination, a bit of foreskin should always be retracted to keep the glans

The Pros And Cons Of Hollywood Actors
Hollywood actors are seen as glamorous and admired by many. The conditions we see now are
of flamboyant actresses/actors with demands of: special drinking water; room decor; scented
candles; special food; and the list goes on and on. If these demands are not met you hear of
temper tantrums and refusals to stay at hotels and other establishments ever again. The salaries
of top actors and actresses are posted on the internet and magazines for all to see. A list actors
can make tens of millions, per movie and series actors bring in tens of thousands to a million,
per episode. With this information our there for all to see, you would assume there would be no
need for unions, in Hollywood. After all, unions are best known for their work in factories,
where blue collar workers request better pay, secure jobs, and benefits (O.C. Ferrell, G.A. Hirt L.
Ferrell, 2014). Hollywood has not always been so glamorous, and in fact less than a century ago
working conditions were not as they are today. Actors/actresses could be bound by a contract for
one studio. The studio owned the artists and other studios would not work with an actor, after their
contracts had dissolved (Ferrell et al., 2014 p. 320). This made it hard to debate any issues with
the studios. Actors in the early 20th century faced long work days, low pay, and unsafe working
environments. The Actors Equity Association was formed by the theatrical performers and through
protests; the group was able to resolve some of

Discrimination At Wal-Mart
Growing up I had always known Wal Mart to be the store with the cheapest prices, but I never
knew the history as to why Wal Mart was such a profitable business. Sam Walton established Wal
Mart in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. Sam Walton believed in discounts, and low prices since he
entered the business in 1945. He said here s the simple lesson we learned by cutting your prices
you can boost your sales to a pint where you can earn far more at a cheaper retail price than you
would have by selling the item at a higher price (Goldman,.) He believed that having name brand
products for an affordable price would attract customers and he was right. By the end of the
1960 s he and his brothers opened 18 Wal Mart stores, and then became incorporated in 1969.
(Wal Mart Stores, Inc. Company Profile Information 1). Sam Walton attributed the success of the
company not only to the affordable prices, but also to his employees. He taught his employees to
give exceptional customer service which would leave a lasting memory and keep them coming
back and it seemed to work. But as time went on the culture of Wal Mart changed and Wal Mart
has not been true to its values. In this essay I will focus on different discrimination... Show more

Military Draft No longer Necessary Essay
Military Draft No Longer Necessary
Over forty years has passed since the United States inducted the last draftee through the Selective
Service System. The Selective Service System is an independent agency of the United States,
which gives the President the right or power to conscript men for military service. There have
been different Acts passed by congress since 1917 that require men of various ages to register for
service. Although, the name of each Act and the age requirements of the registries changed, the
Acts were all similar in nature. They all gave the President the right to call men to war when he
deemed necessary. In January 1973, Secretary of Defense Melvin Laird announced the creation of
the all volunteer service, retracting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the conscription ended in 1973, the number of members has grown considerably over the
years. Men and women alike enlist for many different reasons; from educational purposes, for the
adventure, and/or other benefits the military has to offer. Many enlist just because they want to
defend and serve the country they live in and no other reason. However, all that do enlist want to
be there doing what they are doing, not because someone told them they have to. The armed forces
haven t had any problems recruiting, and are recruiting more than their goal. According to the
Department of Defense, they are recruiting anywhere from 100 to 105% of their goal each year.
Which leads to another reason we should not reinstate the draft, the draft is not needed because the
all volunteer forces have been successful in serving our country for over 40 years through both war
and peace. Melvin Laird, Secretary of Defense (1969 1973), stated in his article in the Washington
Post this past February that our volunteer forces have surpassed expectations and they have been
successful by every measure (Wahingtonpost.com). For more than a decade, the U.S. military has
been able to sustain combat in Iraq and Afghanistan while meeting other global responsibilities. The
U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that the current volunteer force is the most
capable in the nation s history (GAO.gov). They found

The Importance Of Giftedness In Education
Gagne, 1995 via Mansfield, 2016 ) believes that giftedness is static, or innate , either you have it or
you don t, and the other believes that giftedness is dynamic (i.e. Renzulli, 2012 and Vopat, 2011)
and can be developed provided the appropriate nourishment and/or access to opportunity. According
to Ward (2005), if one agrees that giftedness is innate, then he or she likely favors specialized
instruction to meet gifted children s unique needs similar to how SPED students require
differentiated instruction. Alternatively, if one agrees that giftedness is dynamic, then he or she
might favor retaining gifted students in the general education setting to capitalize on their gifts for
the greater good.
Renzulli (2005) wrote that the goal of all schools should be to develop the talents of every student
and equalize their opportunities in ways that allow them to achieve self actualization. Unfortunately,
this is not current practice because unlike NCLB, there are no incentives, mandates, or penalties for
students who are already proficient (Stephens, 2011; Jolly Makel, 2010; Ward, 2005). Generally
speaking, this lack of accountability for gifted education demonstrates that while equity and
excellence can coexist (Stephens, 2011; Ward, 2005), the federal government supports one (equity)
over the other (excellence) and that the tension between these constructs is not innate, but political
(Ward, 2005).

Drosophila. The food sources of the Drosophila are mainly ripened fruit and vegetables.
Drosophila more prefers to consume the yeasts that grow on and ferment the fruit. Ripened banana
pulp is the most common food source for Drosophila in laboratory. In recent times, the agar like
culture medium is developed to culture the flies. There have variety of recipes and formulas to
making the culture medium. The condition of the medium ought to be suitable for the larva to

To develop a more suitable culture medium for Drosophila melanogaster, the study is carried out.

Explain How Individuals Are Taught To Become Good Leaders
1.What is your initial reaction to the question, Are leaders born or can they be taught?
I personally thought and think that anyone can be a leader. I feel this way because there are
different kinds of leaders. I also think leaders can be taught by learning from examples set forth
from other great leaders.
2.Now, use the Internet and find at least three articles or sites that discuss leadership. Based on your
work, how is leadership defined? What are some of the best practices of leaders?
Based on the information that I found leadership means a person who is able to motivate, direct
others to achieve goals and inspire along the way. One of the practices that stood out to me was
helping people to achieve what they think is the impossible. Another practice I found to be
amazing is being a leader is lifting others up and serving those who work with you.

Leadership can be taught to the individuals that are willing to learn. They practice by learning
from mistakes and gaining experience along the way. Most leaders learn from examples of other

they want to be.
6. Finally, are individuals mostly born or are they taught to become successful leaders? Explain.
I think that most leaders are taught to lead. While a person may have more of an outgoing
personality trait than others it does not mean they cannot be great leaders. As long as a
individual is open to new learning experiences they are able to lead. I do not think that people are
just born to lead, a leader needs real world education and experience. As long as, people are willing
to learn every step of the way and keep their work environment positive. By providing coaching and

positive space in bodily contact, and stylistic dancewere the aspects of this performance which
contributed the most towards his narrative. After shared experiences with students who saw this

Positive space was utilized in lifting motions of the entire body and with the allusion of invisible
strings attached to one performer s body, being pulled or connected to another. It was clearly
defined in this piece that if the dancer who has the action put upon them complied, then this evoked
one emotion, versus if they didn t comply. For instance, if one dancer leaned into the other to be

  • 2. My Vacation In Life The feel of the hot sun beating down on my forehead. The sound of people cheering and chatting. The taste of the delicious sample of fudge that I was just given from a small shop. I come across a huge billboard in bold blue letters. Where am I? I have just arrived in Branson, Missouri, where my family and I plan to have an amazing vacation away from home. To arrive in Branson, we first had to drive down to Missouri in my mom s silver van. As it was my parents, my three brothers, and me, the car was very crowded with all of our belongings that we needed for the trip crammed into the car with us. During the long and arduous car ride that dragged on for hours and hours, we figured out all of the activities that we hope to attend throughout the week of our trip. After discussing all of our plans, we decide that we will go to Silver Dollar City, which is an amusement park, a waterpark called White Water, and many stores including Branson s Landing, Tanger Outlets and the Five and Dimes store. My dad is very organized, and he is also a perfectionist. He takes out a yellow lined notebook and writes down a list of everything we are going to do for each day of the four day long vacation. As he finishes, we finally arrive in Branson, so we quickly check in, grab our room keys, and take all of our belongings up to our room. In my opinion, I believe that unpacking everything and taking it up the five flights of stairs where our room is located is the worst part of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Benefits Of Andrew Jackson Corrupt politicians have always been an issue. Many debate that Andrew Jackson was one. He went beyond the bounds of his power, forced thousands of natives off their land down the trail of tears , and claimed to fight for common individuals , a group which apparently only includes free white men. Today, many of our previous historical figures have become controversial from a moral and political standpoint, especially Andrew Jackson. This is due to his ownership of slaves, and his ability to follow rules, or lack thereof. Andrew Jackson s Presidency should not be admired by our current generation because it harmed many people, and he broke many constitutional laws. Andrew Jackson s political career was harmful and non beneficial. Andrew Jackson s Presidency should not be admired by our current generation because it harmed many people. When Andrew Jackson became President, he gained executive control over all of the land. This also meant that he had easier control over the Native Americans, and could force more of them off the land. In fact, Andrew Jackson became a main proprietor of the tragic Trail of Tears, a thousand mile forced trip to new lands which cost one quarter of the 16,000 natives sent down it their lives. As it happened in history, Marshall ruled that the Cherokeenation was a distinct community occupying its own territory... The legal victory proved of little benefit to the Cherokee nation, however. • 6. Summary Of Democracy Of America By Alexis De Tocqueville In Democracy of America chapter XVII written by Alexis de Tocqueville, he discusses the plight of indians(natives). Tocqueville talks about how he believed the fate of Native Americans would be to completely deprived of liberty. In addition to what he believed, Tocqueville says, The success of the Cherokees proves that the Indians are capable of civilization, but it does not prove that they will succeed in it (page 401).Whenever the Indians were able to submit to civilization they were never able to succeed and Tocqueville saw that from similar situations in Native American history. He predicts that Native american nations were set to suffer destruction and also that natives will never adapt themselves to reality, if they attempt to it will be too late. We see that Alexis de tocqueville s observation proves to be correct in the contemporary stories of Sherman Alexie. Lewis owens believes that Alexie paints a bitter picture against natives and he is correct in saying that Sherman Alexie s stories incorrectly shows self destruction, the lack of family life and the inability of natives to blame anyone but themselves for their situation on the reservation. Sherman Alexie s interconnected stories describes the life of Native Americans living on the spokane indian reservation. He attempts to display the natives relationships, history and desires but does otherwise.Instead many can conclude that his contemporary stories portray self deprivation, isolation from society and no ... • 7. Critical Analysis Of The Franklin Series By Paulette... Critical analysis of the Franklin series by Paulette Bourgeois A children s story is the first step a child is introduced to in terms of reading and literature. These books give children enjoyment, develops their feeling and imagination. And it might also help children resolve problems by creatively portraying the issue in the book and also by teaching how to deal with it in an entertaining way. For example in FranklinFibs, Paulette Bourgeois innovatively explains how lying can be bad and how it can impact a child. This probably teaches the childmoral values and also entertains them. Getting a child to sit through an entire book is a hard task. Since children are known to be fidgety and playful. To get the child s attention Paulette Bourgeois uses rhyme scheme and words which are simple. Eg. In Finders keepers for Franklin Franklin can count by twos and tie his shoes . These makes children like them and enjoy them. Brenda Clark the illustrator of the Franklin series uses colors which pop and are vivid to get a child s attention. The colors which are used in the Franklin series are bright red, green, and yellow and so on. From this one can conclude that Clark uses colors which are bright and signify happiness avoiding colors like black which are gloomy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. Stereotypes Of Nationalism And Racism Introduction Nationalism is, according to AP World History textbook The Earth and Its Peoples, a political ideology that stresses people s membership in a nation (Bulliet). This term, often connected to patriotism and unity, is also seen as a synonym for racism and bigotry (Stevens). Though nationalism has had a positive effect on many nations some would even claim it to be the most influential idea in unification during the 1800s it has also been detrimental to world cultures (Bulliet). Though nationalism may not be the same as racism, there is a fine line between innocent passion for one s country and ethnic superiority (Ezzat). Extreme nationalism is shown in acts against foreign cultures such as genocide, assimilation, media hate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of trying to stop nationalism itself, the solution should be to stop some of its effects. One way to counteract extreme nationalism is to support acts that bring awareness to and try to end genocide; there are organizations that fight for genocide awareness, such as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum ( Jewish Population of Europe in 1945 ). Some countries already put in place measures to protect minorities, such as the countries who ban holocaust denial. There is no way to stop hate, but people can be aware of their own nationalism, and how it can be detrimental. Nationalism has its benefits but it also has its damaging aspects, like genocide, racism, assimilation and hate speech. • 9. Flight Essay You guys will never believe what happened to me on my flight. You know what a grumpy flier I am, too, so you ll all find this super entertaining, I m sure. I m sitting on my plane from Hartford to New Orleans. I have an aisle seat, of course, and I m hoping it s not a full flight. Yeah, right. It s practically standing room only, and I can feel the plane getting warmer as passengers pack in like sardines. There are few things worse than being trapped in a metal container with 200 of your closest sweaty friends. A splitting headache and a spoiled appetite means I m about as warm and pleasant as a female anglerfish. A father walks up the aisle with a kid who looks to be about three. I can tell the kid s going to be trouble, because the dad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not exactly light reading, and he gestures toward Anna Karenina. No, it s not. • 10. Control of Virtual Networks Spanning Multiple... 6.2 Virtual network ID, Virtual link ID: In order to control virtual networks spanning multiple infrastructure domains, the virtual networks must be identified by a virtual network ID. Additionally the virtual links are also needed to be identified which can be done by using virtual link ID. One of the solution would consist of simply mapping the virtual link ID to whatever data link layer specific tag is in use. A number of available link virtualization techniques such as ATM, Ethernet VLAN could be used for this purpose. This Virtual link ID can be used for both virtual link identifier and a tag for data forwarding. 12 Scalability is a major requirement for virtual networks. For this reason, virtual link aggregation will constitute an important requirement for network virtualization. Virtual link aggregation can be defined as a set of virtual links that follow a common path and are similarly treated between a pair of virtual nodes. It can be performed by carrying at least two types of identifiers in the data plane, one for virtual network identification and another for hop by hop forwarding. Hence, virtual link aggregation enhances scalability and also improves performance. 7. Building Virtual Networks 7.1 The VNP InP interface: The VNP (virtual network provider) / InP interface is a key component of network virtualization architecture. In 1994, the aviation sector provided 24 million jobs globally and financially provided $1,140 billion in annual gross output (Lee, September 2000). The companies operating aircrafts look for aircrafts with highest performance to make the best profit. The key performance for that is the fuel consumption per passenger kilometre. Figure 2 shows that from 1960 to 2008 the fuel consumed per passenger kilometre has been reduced almost to half, almost 27000 new commercial jet aircraft sold since 1950s (Daniel Rutherford, Mazyar Zeinali, November 2009). So, this report will identify the technology that made this improvements for the fuel consumption in the past 100 years and what the new technology for the next 25 years. In A Primer of Soto[JS1] Zen Dogen explains the Way of the Buddha and stresses the importance of sitting in meditation or zazen as a means of reaching the manifestation of wholeness. The manifestation of wholeness is a state in which one abandons both mind and body and empties oneself of ignorance, delusions, and dualistic modes of thinking. One who is free from dualistic modes of being enters a world in which both subject and object exist. This is a non objective mode of being where all self centeredness has been emptied, where words and concepts are used not to divide but to unite, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the practice of the Way, Dogen places a strong emphasis on zazen or sitting in meditation. One who meditates properly realizes that the practice of meditation and Enlightenment are one in the same. In A Primer of Soto Zen, Dogen states that zazen is the practice of the Buddha. Zazen is the ultimate practice. This is indeed the True Self (Masunaga 44). In the practice of zazen one empties the self and enters a mode of being that is in itself Enlightenment. The experience of Enlightenment within zazen reveals that the entire world is filled with Buddha nature. This is something that the unenlightened eye does not see but the Enlightened eye is able to grasp immediately and intuitively (Earhart 101). Thus, Dogen believes that life is most real when a person sits in meditation. He says; Only when you sit straight and look into yourself, does it become clear that [you yourself are changing and] the objective world has a reality apart from you (Tsunda 246). Therefore during meditation one is free from a individual centered or egocentric position which distorts reality. The Enlightened being or the one who practices zazen will see things, including the self as they truly are. • 16. Comparing Islam And Baha I And Islam It s incredible how two religions can be so different yet so similar. Whether it be the various branches of Christianity, the Chinese religions, or even Judaism and Islam, they have so much in common when you work down to the roots of the religions. For starters, I will be comparing Islam and Baha i. Part of the reason that Baha i and Islamare so similar is because Baha i gets its start from some of the base beliefs of Islam. Some of the similarities between the two are the fact that both have obligatory prayers. With Islam, a believer would pray five times a day. They pray at daybreak, noon, mid afternoon, sunset, and evening. When Muslims do their prayers, there are specific movements and gestures involved. Also they must face Mecca,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Islamic faith has taken a firm stance on their belief of Baha i. They take the teachings of the Baha i religion as the teachings of heretics. Muslims have ridiculed, persecuted, and executed followers of this faith since 1850, when they executed the Bab. The similarities of these two religions are uncanny. They are so closely related, and the differences seem so miniscule, at least to the eye of an outsider looking in. When it come to the prayer life of members of the two religions, they are almost identical. They both pray multiple times a day, prayer is obligatory for both, there are movements and gestures to go along with the prayers, the prayers are done facing a certain location, either Mecca or Qiblih, and they are both rooted from the same region in the world. In all reality the only major difference causing these two religions to tear each other apart, is what they believe about the manifestation of Allah. Other than that they are both monotheistic, follow teachings from the prophet Mohammad, and have a regulated form of prayer for members of the religion to follow. So like I said at the start, like any religion and/or its branches, they can be practically identical, but so very different at the same time. There are three major monotheistic religions still in practice today. They are Islam, Judaism, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2009) 21.8 million children make up over 18% of all the children in the U.S. There are a multitude of effects when single parenting is present. Children that are involved in a single parent situation usually don t have the same economic or human resources that are available to children that involved in two parent family homes. The children are more likely to be high school dropouts, have teen pregnancy or be the cause of it, and to experience divorce in their own adult lives, when compared to two parent traditional families. Children from single parent families often have a lower self esteem and usually lack financial stability. Not every effect is negative though. Some positive effects include, less parental conflicts and more bonding with one individual parent, faster maturity, and a better sense of responsibility. Why is all of this? Being a single parent can bring a plethora of problems. It is much harder to maintain a set discipline routine when there is just one parent in the household. Political Economy And Urban Development Essay Introduction In recent years Bangladesh has achieved rapid economic growth and significant progress in social development despite many other problems. The enviable GDP growth and many other social and environmental successes have gained until now. But still Dhaka is one of the least livable cities in the world. Political economy and urban planning both are complex and people and state oriented. Before discussing about the political economy of urban development process it is necessary to clear the concept of political economy and the economic system of Bangladesh. Political Economy Political economy is the study of production and trade and their links with custom, government and law. It is the study and use of how economic theory and methods influence and develop different social and economic systems, such as capitalism, socialism and communism, and it analyzes how public policy is created and implemented. Since various individuals and groups have different interests in how a country or economy is to develop, political economy as a discipline is a complex field, covering a broad array of potentially competing interests (Investopedia). The term political economy is derived from the Greek polis, meaning city or state, and oikonomos, meaning one who manages a household or estate. As she speaks to her mom, Usagi is the one moving while her mom remains still throughout most of the scene in the same position, along with the background which is still aswell. However, when she is out the door and running, the background moves along with her. This demonstrates a pull cels technique since the single image is pulled across the background as Usagi is running towards school. There is also stillness in the background in various scenes. When Usagi is kneeling on the street and contemplating about showing her mother her test, we see people in the background. These people are still and do not move, even when she Usagi walks down the road. During these type of scenes, sound would be the carrier of information since the background is still. This leads me to my second theme, which is to not take things for granted. Mrs. Mallard might not have loved her husband the way he had loved her, but she expected to see him come home that day. The same could be said when Mrs. Mallard was comprehending her newfound freedom she had hoped for (and expected to) live a life after her husband had died Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own (Page 279). On a lighter note, the third theme I believed was in this story was to not jump to conclusions unless you see it for yourself. Mrs. Mallard believed that her husband had died because her husband s name was in the newspaper on the list of those killed in a rail accident. Obviously, the mistake was not intentional, but it had severe results. I also believe that this story s message was mainly a bash on society as a whole. Caesar had taken control of Gaul, grew wealthy, and raised an army in eight years time. With Caesar s return to Rome, he defeated Pompey, one of his former allies, and took power over Rome.... It is foolish for any man to fear death when it is inevitable in Caesar s eyes. Later during that day, during Caesar s assassination, Caesar saw his beloved Brutus was involved in his death. • 30. Symbols In John Steinbeck s The Red Pony The Red Pony Essay John Steinbeck wrote the Red Pony in 1933. He wrote the book to show the hardships of California and the struggles they faced on a daily basis. John Steinbeck is unique because he uses a minimalist form of writing. Themes are a very important part of the Red Pony as are symbols and the sections. I enjoyed reading this book because of these things. The theme of The Red Pony is maturity and coming of age. This was a good topic for a book in that time because all ranches were spaced out and children spent most of their time by themselves. John Steinbeck did a terrific job of tying growing up and maturity into a ordinary ranch life. Jody changes from a boy to a man when he is giving a pony named Gabilan. The book starts out as a boy who forgets to do his chores and ends as a boy who is so mature that he thinks of others before himself. Jody sighed deeply. It s a long time, isn t it? And then it ll be about two years. Jody cried out in despair, I ll be grown up. Yep, you ll be an old man, said Billy, (p.52). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His father said that there is nothing in the mountains but when he gets older he wonders if his father lied and there s something in the mountains. • 32. The Hersey And Blanchard Model As A Situational Leadership... Developed by Professor Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard in the 1970s, The Hersey and Blanchard Model is defined as a situational leadership model which suggests that there is no single optimal leadership style, and successful leaders adjust their styles based on follower maturity (Investopedia, n.d.). This represents a direct link to my management style, as I consciously tailor a customized approach to every new task, based upon the scope of the challenge, the resources at my disposal, and the skillsets available to me. I m comfortable acting unilaterally, delegating work, or acting as a participative leader, dependent on whichever approach is best for the task. Strength 2: Able to Quickly Identify Team Strengths/Weaknesses Delegating is one of the four leadership styles under the Hersey and Blanchard model, and it is defined as a style where leaders are responsible for their teams, but provide minimum guidance to workers or help to solve problems (Spahr, 2015). To delegate work effectively, a leader must be able to quickly assess the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals he is working with to best ensure the efficiency and quality of the work performed. I pride myself in a near uncanny ability to quickly access a person s professional strengths and weaknesses after only a brief period of observation and work, and if I am ever in doubt, I m not above asking direct questions to ascertain which individuals are the best resources to use in accomplishing a ... In The Horse Dealer s Daughter, by D.H. Lawrence, the literary nature is evident early on in the story. Literary fiction does not have a likeable main character or protagonist; in the story one doesn t know who the main character is and of the choices none are likable. All of the brothers in the story make fun of the sister so one wouldn t like any of those choices, even with the sister she has no obvious characteristics nor does she perform any actions for her to be considered likeable She would have been good looking, save for the impressive fixity of her fact, bull dog, as her brothers called it. Literary fiction leads the audience to do the thinking for themselves, nothing is clear cut or obvious. The Conflict Between Israel And Palestinian Refugees Going after their independence, Israel was looking for the support of big and powerful countries, and the cooperation of the surrounding states. Unfortunately, the Israeli independence movement did not turn out to be so easy. As the surrounding Arab nations began to get angry with the preferential treatment of the British, tensions rose between Israeland the Palestinians. Consequently, because of the superior army and the support behind Israel, the wars resulted in an abundance of Palestinian refugees that still struggle to establish their own state today. Through many efforts and support systems, international aid has been offered to the Palestinian refugees, but as proven by the millions of refugees that still live in the UNRWA camps today, none of these tactics have worked. Although international organizations were ineffective in solving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian refugees, the establishment of an Arab state early on would have prevented a future humanitarian crisis; demonstrating the preferential treatment within foreign intervention. Leading up to the wars between Israel and the Arabs, Israel was getting favorable treatment from the British, as Palestinians were left to fight against the odds. Between the age six and twelve a child moves to the latency stage. Freud believed that during this stage the sex drive goes underground. Children move from the fantasies of marrying one of their parents to a new realization that must learn to become a grownup. At this age children transfer their interest from parents to peers. At the age of twelve the separation of sexes begins to change. This stage is the genital stage. In the article, Here s Your Crisis: Student Loan Debt Isn t A Myth, it describes how student loans are a huge crisis, and the article, The Myth of the Student Loan Crisis is about how college students loans do not amount to a crisis. The student loan crisis is a legitimate problem, not a myth. College students do not realize the risks they take when they acquire student loans. Student loans can and do have negative effects on the economy and there are also hardships the students will face in the future. One reason that supports the issue of student loans being a crisis is the negative effects on the economy. For example, students who are in debt cannot spend money on expensive items. People who want nice cars, jacked up trucks, enormous boats, and other items will not be able to afford these items. Also, student loans are responsible for the second highest form of consumer debt. (Denhart, College Crisis Is Crippling ) Higher national debt means fewer jobs and increased interest rates. By the end of the 1960 s he and his brothers opened 18 Wal Mart stores, and then became incorporated in 1969. (Wal Mart Stores, Inc. Company Profile Information 1). Sam Walton attributed the success of the company not only to the affordable prices, but also to his employees. He taught his employees to give exceptional customer service which would leave a lasting memory and keep them coming back and it seemed to work. • 51. Military Draft No longer Necessary Essay Military Draft No Longer Necessary Over forty years has passed since the United States inducted the last draftee through the Selective Service System. The Selective Service System is an independent agency of the United States, which gives the President the right or power to conscript men for military service. There have been different Acts passed by congress since 1917 that require men of various ages to register for service. Although, the name of each Act and the age requirements of the registries changed, the Acts were all similar in nature. They all gave the President the right to call men to war when he deemed necessary. In January 1973, Secretary of Defense Melvin Laird announced the creation of the all volunteer service, retracting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the conscription ended in 1973, the number of members has grown considerably over the years. Men and women alike enlist for many different reasons; from educational purposes, for the adventure, and/or other benefits the military has to offer. Many enlist just because they want to defend and serve the country they live in and no other reason. However, all that do enlist want to be there doing what they are doing, not because someone told them they have to. The armed forces haven t had any problems recruiting, and are recruiting more than their goal. According to the Department of Defense, they are recruiting anywhere from 100 to 105% of their goal each year. Which leads to another reason we should not reinstate the draft, the draft is not needed because the all volunteer forces have been successful in serving our country for over 40 years through both war and peace. Melvin Laird, Secretary of Defense (1969 1973), stated in his article in the Washington Post this past February that our volunteer forces have surpassed expectations and they have been successful by every measure (Wahingtonpost.com). For more than a decade, the U.S. military has been able to sustain combat in Iraq and Afghanistan while meeting other global responsibilities. The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that the current volunteer force is the most capable in the nation s history (GAO.gov). They found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Importance Of Giftedness In Education Gagne, 1995 via Mansfield, 2016 ) believes that giftedness is static, or innate , either you have it or you don t, and the other believes that giftedness is dynamic (i.e. Renzulli, 2012 and Vopat, 2011) and can be developed provided the appropriate nourishment and/or access to opportunity. According to Ward (2005), if one agrees that giftedness is innate, then he or she likely favors specialized instruction to meet gifted children s unique needs similar to how SPED students require differentiated instruction. Alternatively, if one agrees that giftedness is dynamic, then he or she might favor retaining gifted students in the general education setting to capitalize on their gifts for the greater good. Renzulli (2005) wrote that the goal of all schools should be to develop the talents of every student and equalize their opportunities in ways that allow them to achieve self actualization. Unfortunately, this is not current practice because unlike NCLB, there are no incentives, mandates, or penalties for students who are already proficient (Stephens, 2011; Jolly Makel, 2010; Ward, 2005). Generally speaking, this lack of accountability for gifted education demonstrates that while equity and excellence can coexist (Stephens, 2011; Ward, 2005), the federal government supports one (equity) over the other (excellence) and that the tension between these constructs is not innate, but political (Ward, 2005). In history, there is much research relevant to Drosophila contribute to the understanding of human towards different fundamental biological phenomena. The first published research paper on Drosophila in 1910, Sex limited inheritance in Drosophila was written by Dr. Thomas Hunt Morgan who was known as father of Drosophila . The theory of inheritance which was first proposed by Gregor Mendel was proved in the research paper by investigation on mutant fly lines. The research claimed that the genes are the physical basis of heredity that are present within the chromosomes. This made a big step forward to the understanding of modern geneticsand it give rise to manipulation of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it is very important to develop the most suitable culture medium for the cultivation of Drosophila. The food sources of the Drosophila are mainly ripened fruit and vegetables. Drosophila more prefers to consume the yeasts that grow on and ferment the fruit. Ripened banana pulp is the most common food source for Drosophila in laboratory. In recent times, the agar like culture medium is developed to culture the flies. There have variety of recipes and formulas to making the culture medium. The condition of the medium ought to be suitable for the larva to tunnel into to obtain the food and for the flies to move on top without sticking on it. To develop a more suitable culture medium for Drosophila melanogaster, the study is carried out. For more specific, the research on this topic is attributing to two main objectives. Firstly, the aim is to investigate the effect of different agar media on the hatching and growth of Drosophila melanogaster. In addition, the hatching and growth of different strain of Drosophila melanogaster is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They practice by learning from mistakes and gaining experience along the way. Most leaders learn from examples of other leaders. Additionally, Leaders never stop learning enabling a person to become the kind of leader they want to be. 6. Finally, are individuals mostly born or are they taught to become successful leaders? Explain. I think that most leaders are taught to lead. While a person may have more of an outgoing personality trait than others it does not mean they cannot be great leaders. As long as a individual is open to new learning experiences they are able to lead. I do not think that people are just born to lead, a leader needs real world education and experience. As long as, people are willing to learn every step of the way and keep their work environment positive. By providing coaching and training to help a person to be able to lead by ... The chosen elements of music, positive space in bodily contact, and stylistic dancewere the aspects of this performance which contributed the most towards his narrative. Positive space in dance speaks powerfully in this way, when the audience does not know what certain chosen reaction will be evoked in the touch. Positive space was utilized in lifting motions of the entire body and with the allusion of invisible strings attached to one performer s body, being pulled or connected to another. It was clearly defined in this piece that if the dancer who has the action put upon them complied, then this evoked one emotion, versus if they didn t comply. For instance, if one dancer leaned into the other to be lifted, it spoke harmoniously, versus if they feel without control, or stiffly resisted the motion.
