Assistive Technology In Education
When thinking about assistive technology (AT) we are usually thinking about some device that
helps students with disabilities. AT is more than that, a tool, software, piece of equipment or
service. Appropriate AT helps student with disability work around his challenges in performing
tasks using their abilities in order to meet their IEP goals in least restrictive environment accessing
common core curriculum. It is very important for student with disabilitynot only to have a device
but also to have the support and services on how to use to the device and how device could be
best adopted to their needs. IEP team is responsible for considering AT for all students with
disabilities and that is individualized process. If needed schooldistrict... Show more content on

Most of our students are using FM units for sound amplification. I also had an experience to work
with two deaf students with mild cerebral palsy. One student was deaf with bilateral cochlear

was bought for him by school district. He used laptop also for typing assignments, quizzes and
tests by highlighting the correct answer or typing the answer. Additionally. he used scanner to
scan materials with help of paraprofessional to the laptop and printer to print assignments. He
would use pencils with pencil grips and slanted boards when writing. He would also use slanted
board to attach paper materials so he can see them easer while he was working on his laptop. The
assistive technology helped him tremendously in gaining independence and self confidence.
Today he is successful young man with college degree and job. Other student was deaf with no
cochlear implants or hearing aids that would assist his hearing. His language skills were very low
due to the fact that he moved to the US from Mexico in 6th grade with no language

Ida B Wells White Patriarchy
Race acted as the barrier of exclusion, that stopped people from becoming Americans. An
American in this era is defined as one who is a citizen, has the right to vote, and is not seen as
commodity. The definition of an American in the mid 19th century, was one who was not a slave,
thus not a black person. An American in the mid 19th century was defined as a white patriarchy,
who owned slaves. According to the Corner Stone Speech, the separation between an African
American and an American was that the negro is not equal to the white man thus inferring that
white was a superior raceand the African American was an inferior race (Corner Stone Speech 4).

Race not only acted as the marker of exclusion, but it also acted as a death sentence for many
Black people. For instance, Ida B. Wells pamphlet, The Red Record discusses the causes of
lynching in the United States of America. Majority of the cases Ida. B Wells states, the white man
had no right to scourge the emancipated Negro, still less has he a right to kill him (Wells 123
/ 3). According to Ida B. Wells, White Americans justified the killing of black people, and they
go as follows, stop them from taking part in riots, stop them from exercising their right to vote,
and to protect their women (Wells 124 125). All three of these justifications are excuses that
killed innocent lives. Black people did not have the right to a trial the only race that was given
that right were Whites. This is problematic, as Black people could not testify or defend
themselves, thus their result was an unjust death. Overall, the race served not only as the border
of exclusion as it stripped rights from people of color, but it was also a death sentence. If an African
American were to step out of line and defied white supremacy. Overall, African American people
did not have a fair trial as they were viewed as

The Impact Of Meli Marine On The Container Shipping Value...
Introduction Meli Marine is a Singapore based marine transport company which now has an
opportunity to purchase 16 vessels from Teeh Sah company to enter Asia North America
shipping market. The CEO of Meli Marine is wondering whether the move is right for the
development of company. Some questions are designed to help him to make proper decisions.
Besides, reasons in terms of the questions are justified in the following. Critical questions 1.Why
the vessels price that Teeh Sah gives is considered to be attractive ? 2.As intra Asia and Asia
North America shipping business is busy, What kind of port is suitable for vessels to dock?
3.What counter strategy can Meli Marine use to avoid the risk of increasing fuels price? 4.Why
Meli Marine choose to deepen its vessel operations rather than developing the container shipping
value chain? 5.In order to maintain the profit margin, what kind of actions can Meli adopt?
Justification and discussion of relative effectiveness of critical questions 1.This question aims to
identify the underlying assumption and consider whether it is really acceptable. People intend to
estimate or assess before making decision, which may result in estimating and forecasting
traps.(Hammond, Keeney and Raiffa 1998)If seller gives price lower than buyer s expectation, it
is easy to be considered as a favorable price, regardless of the original price. For example, when

Growing Up With Greek Literature Essay
Growing Up With Greek Literature
Say Greek Tragedy to an English major and you re likely to elicit a groan, or even perhaps a
screech of terror. For me however, Greek tragedy, as well as Greek mythology, has always
fascinated me. When I was younger, the Greek God s always captured my interest, and I could
never get enough of them. As I grew older, I became interested in the more refined aspects that
Greek literature had to offer. Sophocles and The Three Theban Plays in particular, left me
awestruck. I quickly began to realize that many of the new and inventive books and movies I had
seen, had actually been written in one form or another, generations ago.
I suppose my interest was first piqued when my father brought home the ... Show more content on

I was brought up Christian and believed in on only one God. A different god for love, war, and a
variety of other things fascinated me.
Eventually, in my early teens, I took up reading books such as The Odyssey by Homer, and
various other works relating to the Trojan War. As is typical with many Greek stories, The
Odyssey presented me with a hero I could look up to, but I was dealt my first shock when I
realized that not all books have a happy ending. Quite the contrary in most Greek literature. While
the Odyssey does have a fairly happy ending, other books on the Trojan War presented a much
different picture. Achilles, another one of my heroes at the time, dies, and the city of Troy is
sacked. I wasn t sure how to take these bizarre endings. I say bizarre because as a kid in this day
and age, I was presented with stories that always ended happily. The guy always got the girl. The
hero always saved the day. The criminal was always caught. This was quite out of the ordinary in
my world. I began to realize that the stories and movies I had previously always been presented,
were in no way a honest view of reality. Bad things did happen, and that was life. Instead of turning
away from this reality, I embraced it, realizing that while the stories themselves may not be true, the
reality of the situations faced in them were.

The quest for intimate romance drives us in innumerable ways. This fantasy of a mysterious
affection moves us to better ourselves and enhance our lives. However, even with such a large
number of individuals put resources into a shared objective we appear to battle with this territory of
life more than anything.
Affection is something we as a whole look for, something we as a whole need to feel, to offer
and to hold. Furthermore, I figure that is on account of adoration feels so great, as well as in
light of the fact that affection is our characteristic state. Affection is who we are. Adoration is the
thing that we are made for. Adoration is the thing that we are made for. What s more, when
affection is available inside us additionally around us, we feel at home, we feel like everything is ok.

The Great Achievements Of The Italian Renaissance
One of the great achievements of the Italian Renaissance is the application perspective, which is
the product of the combination of science and art.The early perspective is invented by the early
Renaissance painter.Perspective enabling artists to scientific accuracy in the reproduction of a two
dimensional surface having a three dimensional space and figures. Art is not a simple art activity
but a scientific activity. An artists use of perspective can create a realistic effect represented
(Bouleau 1963).
Leonardo da Vinci, The Last Supper, 1498
In the beginning of the fifteenth century and the sixteenth century, the perspective has become a
basic skill, widely mastered by all painters. As one of three heroes of the Renaissance Leonardo da
Vinci also use the principle of perspective in the creation of a master painting to highlight the theme
(Wölfflin 1963). He worked on Santa Maria Delle Grazie of Milan s monastery dining room
painted the famous fresco The Last Supper will fully reflect his talent in this area. The Last
Supper story based on the Bible, says that in the Passover feast, Jesus and his twelve disciples had
supper. During the dining, Jesus said that , I tell you that there was a man who among you
betrayed me. After then , the traitor Judas to arrest Jesus and put him nailed to the cross. This
religious story is common in Western painting (Conti 1979). Leonardo da Vinci made a careful

The Role Of Catherine Martin In The Great Gatsby
As for costuming in The Great Gatsby, Catherine Martin was challenged with outfitting a huge
cast. When Baz Luhrmann first decided to adapt F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsbyfor the
screen nine years ago, no one was less enthusiastic about the venture than the filmmaker s wife
and longtime production and costume designer, Catherine Martin. As an Australian teenager, I
really did not connect with the book, Martin admitted to us. I said to Baz, Why would you want
to do that novel?! It s so boring! Baz Luhrmann convinced her to re read the book and then Martin
became the books biggest fan. There was one line in particular that inspired her visually. I love the

The Philosophy Of Social Science
Hollis expresses his intention to explore the philosophy of social science of which he categorises
into four modes. He attempted to seek for the acceptable compromises between all and each mode
to define a better way of understanding the social world. Hollis clearly states that the key task of
this book is to reflect on the underlying philosophy of social sciencethrough the critical examination
of the theory and methodology in each approach. Some of the key questions are; whether the study
of social science can use the same method as in natural science, does structure determine an action
or does action determines structure in the process of social changes, and is there such a thing as the
universal strategy to help social scientists in understanding the way of the world. The main theme
focuses on Explanation and Understanding with the minor theme of Holism and Individualism. The
book initially gives the impression that each social study approach has its strength and weakness
that the combination of approaches would be beneficial and worth pursuing.
Hollis starts off with the introduction of Structure and Action. The comparative framework is set
out by the two social scientists who employ two different principles; Karl Marx and John Stuart
Mills. Determinism is then introduced to further illuminate the difference between these two
theories. Hollis also provides readers with the fundamental feature of Explanation and
Understanding. The comparison represented through the

Human Induced Global Climate Change Essay
Human Induced Global Climate Change Worldwide temperatures are rising, carbon dioxide is at a
hazardous level, ocean acidification, atmosphere boundary shifts, and extreme events are just a few
of the worldwide climate changes happening near and far. It is a controversial issue whether it is
taking place in the present velocity because of nature or man. However, global climate changes
happen naturally, but they ought not to happen at this increased rapidity; therefore, human activity
is a great cause that global climate changeis happening at an expanded rate. The greatest
contribution of human action is the combustion of fossil fuels, which is one of the primary reasons
why the carbon dioxidelevels are nearing high hazard strata. Thus, the scientific confirmation
supports that the rise in carbon dioxide levels is significantly generated by people, not nature, and
people are ultimately the largest contributor to the atmospheric changes; thus, human beings should
implement changes to their energy sources and modify agricultural production in order to lessen
the quantity of carbon dioxide emitted into the aura at the extraordinary rate it currently is passing.
Fossil fuels are of course produced from coal, petroleum, gas, diesel fuel, and natural gasses.
Carbon dioxide is one of the many gasses that are emitted from the fossil fuel burning, and carbon
dioxide is responsible for trapping heat in the earth s atmosphere. Nevertheless, carbon dioxide is
naturally

Examination of Literary Character Shellie in Green Days by The River Shellie Lammy is
presented by Michael Anthony, Green Days by The River, originally published in 1967 as an
adolescent boy aged 15 who lives in Mayaro. Shellie, also referred to as Shell, is caught in the
developmental process as he works through the emotional and biological changes that comes with
transitioning from childhood to adulthood. In the story, this transition is paralleled to the changes
in his environment that he experiences as his family, due to the illness of his father, moves from
Pierre Hill which is described as the bush in the novel to an inland village in Mayaro. During this
period, Shell experiences an array of changes associated with transitioning from a boy to a man. He

this class. Framed in Eric Erikson s Psychosocial Stages of Development, I will look at Shellie as
he discovers his self system; and, some of the trajectories and transition points which he
experiences. If we were to apply a theory to understand exactly where Shell was in his
developmental process, Eric Erikson Psychosocial Stages of Development, particularly the fifth
stage of development, Identity vs Role Confusion may be most applicable. This stage focuses on
individuals ages 12 18; and speaks about the individual searching for a sense of self and personal
identity as they explore their value and belief system, (Schaffer, 2006). Similar to what we have
read about Shell s journey; Erikson goes on to explain that the individual becomes independent and
begin thinking about goals, possible career options, relationships and focuses a lot of energy into
fitting into social groups and society on the whole, (Schaffer,

Thesis topic: Indoor air quality (IAQ) in residential and commercials units and its adverse effects on
human health.
Sundell.J. (2004).On the History of Indoor Air Quality and Health. Indoor Air 7(14), 51 58.
Indoor air is a critical factor to human health. More than half of the air inhaled is at the homes.
Indoor air quality plays a huge role in one s health. Poor ventilation is one of the main causes of
deaths in developing countries. In developed countries, IAQ (Indoor Air quality) is a main cause of
allergies, other hypersensitivity reactions, air way infections and cancer.
The relation between IAQ and health is not given high importance. Studies shows that ventilation
rates below 25 l/s per person increases short term sick leave and reduces productivity. More efforts
are being put into building physics, HVACengineering and architecture for better IAQ standards.
Dampness, Ventilation, Building materials and indoor air chemistry are one of the primary factors
affecting Indoor air quality and health, but lacks scientific data and needs to be researched more on.

enlightenment is that understanding Buddha s teachings known as the Four Noble Truths. The
Buddhist religion focuses on the Four Noble Truths, which if followed guarantees the cure for
human suffering. I personally think that the Four Noble Truths represent a good approach to life
because human suffering comes from the choices we make in life and how we choose to live. The
Four Noble Truths give a good guidance towards happiness by educating you with the right

There is no self separable form a non self. In the West this is misunderstood because the meaning
of self is not an essence or entity, is taken as self does not exist at all by people who have not
imagined any to his/her scheme of existence than entities. Traditional Western concept of self
believe that every person is entitled to one, and that it it s the self which acts or experiences. The
notion of self contributes to the suffering of human beings in that human project reality onto an
illusory Ego for the purpose of gratification. The misery of life is cause by self centeredness and
the constant desire to satisfy one s own needs. With that being said ego desire is the very root of all
evil, including greed, lust, hatred, lying, deceit, and crime. Eliminating the ego puts an end to
unhappiness. Self concentration does not allow the pursuit of truth and righteousness. Also, one s

Masculinity In The Black Panther Party
The training of armed defense within the Black Panther Party contributed to many of the violent
actions that involved members of the Black Panther Party. Violent discipline, in and out of the BPP,
was heavily enforced by Huey Newton, however the violent atmosphere surrounding the BPP solely
became a place for proving and asserting manhood, and not advancing the revolution that the
founders of the BPP had originally called for. Although many black women attempted to embody
the feminine American womanhood that their white counterparts had, according to Elaine Brown,
chair of the BPP from 1974 1777, many women joined the Black Panther Partyas the image of
strength and confidence projected by male Panther leaders had a powerful, sensual appeal for many
female recruits (Estes, 163). Women within the Black Panther Party were often overlooked as male

Ambulatory Care
Ambulatory care is a type of medical care that is provided to patients who do not need to be
admitted to a hospital for treatment. It is often referred to as outpatient care . It includes diagnosis,
observation, consultation, treatment, intervention, and rehabilitation services. Ambulatory care can
be delivered in a variety of settings, including doctor s offices, clinics, hospitals, emergency
departments, eye doctors, etc. This type of care tends to be preferred because most people want to
avoid staying in a hospitalmore than needed, and it is also less expensive. Most hospitals
encourage patients to choose outpatient care if it is possible, that way the facilities will be free for
more critical patients and to cut down on overall expenses.

Haemolytic Anemia Research Paper
In my opinion, based on signs and symptoms this patient suffers from hemolytic anemia,
characterized by reduction in the number of circulating red blood cells, caused by accelerated
destruction and removal of these cells from the bloodstream before their normal lifespan is over.
When blood cells die, bone marrowproduces more bloodcells to replace them, however, in HA, the
bone marrow does not make red blood cells fast enough to meet the body s needs. Many diseases,
conditions, and factors can cause the body to destroy its red blood cells. This type of anemia can
be inherited, where parents passed the gen to the child (hemoglobindefects, enzyme defects,

Why Should A Health Information Professional Possess A...
Ch. 1 review questions #1 Why should a health information professional possess a fundamental
understanding of the law? Because it allows the HIM professional to be consciously aware of
the duty and responsibility that he/she has in regards to patient confidentiality, privacy and
security. It also allows them to know what the repercussions might be in case they were to break
the law. #2 Does a single document or source of law exist where an individual can find all of the
rules governing health information? Why or why not? No. Since the laws and regulations are
divided into federal, state and local levels, they are interpreted differently by each of the court
systems, all three different levels. This makes it impossible for all law relating health
information to ascend from a single source. #5 Explain the concepts of stare decisis and res
judicata. Stare decisis to let the decision stand operates in a pyramid type fashion and is the
doctrine that judicial decisions stand as precedent for cases arising in the future. It is a
fundamental policy of our law that, except in unusual circumstances, a court s determination on a
point of law will be followed by courts of the same or lower rank in later cases presenting the
same legal issue, even though different parties are involved and any years have elapsed. Res

Total Eclipse Annie Dillard Summary
Based on Annie Dillard s account of witnessing a total eclipse in her essay Total Eclipse I would
have to say she definitely encourages her readers to witness a total eclipse. She says that it is
almost the opposite of a partial eclipse, which I am sure most people have seen many times
before, that s how different they are and I believe most people including myself think partial
eclipses are spectacular and almost dreamlike. The opening line in Total Eclipse is It had been

adrenaline seeker, would really like to see a total eclipse. It would be a totally new experience,
anyone would want to experience something so out of the ordinary. One thing Dillard says that
could impact the reader s feelings about seeing a total eclipse would be how she says God save

the sun into the final phase of the total eclipse almost as if she is dieing because all the colors
around her are changing, turning from green to black and gray because of the lack of sun. Why
would Dillard ask God to save her? Is she scared because this total eclipse is unknown to her
having never experienced it? Some people might say why would I want to see something that is

because death is something you can only participate in once because after you have you are only

Persuasive Essay On How To Build A Fire
Have you ever went camping with friends or family and admired the welcoming campfires that
were built? Roasting marshmallows, sharing stories, or just sitting and absorbing the nature
around you are just a few of the many enjoyable activities that can be done with a bonfire!
However, what may look like a simple set up might be more complex than one would assume. In
fact, there are several steps a person should follow when constructing a campfire. Practicing these
instructions can not only lead to a more successful, thriving bonfire, but can also guide you to
becoming more safe and aware. When my dad taught me how to build a fire, it was an overall
bonding experience. He was patient with me through the many failed attempts and constantly
reminded me that safety was the most important factor. The skills that I learned from him will
continue to come in handy any time my friends or family want to gather around a campfire. The
first step that is pretty essential in building a campfire, that several people may overlook, is
finding a suitable, safe place to have one. If there is a fire ring that is already present, then even
better. Try to look for an open space away from buildings or other things that are easily
flammable. Ask yourself a few questions before you start: Are campfires allowed in this area? Are
the weather conditions up to par? (It shouldn t be too windy or rainy.) Is the site properly
prepared? Lastly, do you have fire safety equipment? Such as a fire extinguisher

Abraham Promises
The Bible teaches that God s longing to redeem the world has always been His desire, but sinful
man has refused God s grace. The appeal to man to turn from his selfish ways dates back to the
Old Testament and is clearly displayed in the actions God puts into place with Abraham and the
formation of the nation of Israel. These activities are evident in Abraham and the nation of Israel
through promises made, examples to show His glory, and Israel s comparison to the Church today.
Promises Made
In Genesis, God promised blessings to Abraham that would carry to his descendants (Gen. 12:2 3
[NASB]).1 Through these blessings, one man and his family would benefit the whole world and

As part of those activities, the Scripture clearly indicates His desire to declare Himself to all
nations, tongues, and tribes. Walter Kaiser explains that the Old Testament unfolds a plan (Gen.
12:3), a purpose (Ps. 67:1 7) and the need for participation (Exod. 19:4 6) by the nation of
Israel.11 There are three significant areas that serve as evidence of God s intentions. They are the
use of the Israelites to reach the world as a proclamation, Abraham s specific calling to become a
priestly nation, and the nation as an example.
God s plan and work are directed to the entire of humanity with His desire to save all of
mankind.12 However, man s struggle against God is apparent in events such as the attempt to
reach heaven at Babel (Gen. 11:1 9) and the universal condemnation of wickedness, which
caused the great flood (Gen. 6:5).13 Israel was designed to be a solid foundation for other
nations to turn to. Verkuyl states that even the nations who oppose God will one day celebrate
in restored fellowship.14 Israel will become the permanent presence of God s people acting and

Role Of Merit In Buddhism
This week s readings are focused on how Buddhist monasteries in China and India play an
important role in producing merit. Both Lopez and Gethin explain the differences each region
played in producing merit through devotional practices. Lopez explains in chapter 27, how
monasteries in China implemented acts of merit into their daily practice. In addition Gethin
illustrates how monks in India lived their lives practicing merit. Even though Buddhist monasteries
play a significant role in producing meritorious acts, the lay community is significant. All four
assemblies of monks, nuns, male lay followers and female lay followers played a role in producing
merit. Merit plays a significant role in the Buddhist monasteries. Merit is not signally

The Effect Of Ph On The Function Of The Enzyme Amylase
Discussion Effect of pH on the Function of the Enzyme Amylase
The objective of the lab was to examine the effects of environmental variables on the functions of
an enzyme. To the point, an experiment was conducted to test the effect of pH on the function of
the enzyme Amylase. Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts and help reactions take place. In
short, enzymes reduce the energy needed for a reaction to take place, permitting a reaction to take
place more easily. Some enzymes are shape specific and reduce the energy for certain reactions.
Enzymes have unique folds of the amino acid chain which result in specifically shaped active sites
(Frankova Fry 2013). When substrates fit in the active site of an enzyme, then it is able to catalyze
the reaction. Enzyme activity is affected by the concentrations of the enzymes and substrate present
(Worthington 2010). As the incidence of enzyme increases, the rate of reaction increases.
Additionally, as the incidence of substrate increases so does the rate of reaction. Almost all
enzymes need specific conditions for them to function. The conditions include temperature, pH
level, and concentration of salt. Enzymes have optimal conditions. If they are changed, the enzyme
may denature and deactivate. If that happens, the enzyme would not be able to catalyze the
reaction, and the reaction rate would decrease (Worthington 2010). Amylase is a digestive enzyme.
The enzyme is found in the salivary glands in your mouth

Legislation Of Raising Bills For Raising Revenue

in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on

before it become a law, be presented to the President of the United States; if he approve he shall

In general, a bill will start with a member of Congress, but members of the public, state
legislatures, or the executive branch can also suggest a bill to them. After a congressman
decides that they wish to propose legislation, they then have to submit the bill to their respective
house. In the House of Representatives, all that is needed is to place the bill into a box, while in
the Senate, one must file it with a clerk. To illustrate the process, look at a hypothetical bill
introduced in the House. After the bill has been submitted, it will be recorded in the House
Journal and the Congressional record. The speaker of the house then assigns the bill to a
committee. This is an important step and gives the speaker a large amount of power, as assigning a
bill to a committee that will view it unfavorably will almost certainly result in the death of the bill.
After the assignment, the committee will hold sessions to make any changes they think are
important, and if deemed necessary, the chair will send the bill to a subcommittee. They will hold
hearings and do further research before amending the bill, when it will be returned to the main

How Did Hitler Gain Power
Adolf Hitler was born on the 20th of April in 1889 in a small village in Austria. This little boy
would later become one of the most feared men in the entire world. A man who would
singlehandedly become responsible for the death and suffering of millions of people. How was it
possible for such a man to get all this power? Hitler became so powerful because of three factors:
The Treaty of Versailles, the German economic crisis and the use of propaganda.
The Treaty of Versailles was an important catalyst for Hitler s rise to power. On 28 July 1919 the
Treaty of Versailles was signed by the Weimar Republic. This caused Germanyto lose a large piece
of their territory. Additionally, Germany also needed to admit guilt of the war. This made German...

With propaganda Hitler tried to convince people that the Nazi s was the only right party. In
1929 Hitler chose Josef Goebbels to be his minister of propaganda. Josef Goebbels created
campaigns with slogans and pictures which were spread throughout the country to convince and
persuade people about ideas. Hitler used propaganda in different ways. Pro Nazi s movies were
made under production of Josef Goebbels and books with Nazi propaganda were written. The
Nazi s even sent instructions to newspapers which instructed them to write anti Jewish stories.
Josef Goebbels made sure that no one could see or read something that was damaging to the Nazi
s. Books which did not match with the Nazi ideal were burned and the Nazi s even controlled the
film industry. This meant many movies idealized Hitler and the Nazi party. Hitler used propaganda
because although he won the elections, he did not have the majority of support along the people.
Therefore he wanted to ensure the people that the Nazi party was the only correct choice.
Moreover he wanted to convince people who did not support him that it was pointless to continue
with their opposition. The Nazi s use of propaganda helped Hitler to convince the German people
of his ideas. Goebbels once said: The essence of propaganda consists in winning people over to an
idea so sincerely, so vitally, that in the end they succumb to it utterly and can never escape from it.
This illustrates the importance of propaganda in winning the peoples support and subsequently

The Science Of Shopping By Gladwell s Article
For generations, Americans has been brainwashed by the media to believe that what is
displayed on television is the ideal perception of what real beauty have manipulated American
citizens of what style looks like. Furthermore, with their many brainwashing strategies, that
means more and more consumers spending beyond their budget. Our perspectives have been
heavily influenced by what they believe is nice, but can we afford it all? With unrealistic
combination of goods in store, plazas, and mall, consuming has become a bad behavior of some.
In support of my argument of the Overspending , author Gladwell s article The Science of
Shopping also argues that stores adjust to fit the needs and wants of the shopper are evidently
presented. With that being said, we have no idea when we are being manipulated into unrealistic
shopping behavior that is influenced by the way the advertisement is presented in visual sight.
Author Gladwell gets a retail anthropologist and urban geographer named Paco Underhill to give
breakdown points of how he helps brand name stores influence consumers into persuasion of
buying more. However, most of us fall short of that discipline, while being persuaded to
overspend during our store visits. While reading Science of Shopping article by Malcolm
Gladwell, he brings readers into the world of a man that study been studying the patterns of
shoppers for over fifteen years, which is Paco Underhill. Before reading Gladwell s article, I knew

Herbal Medicine In Native American Medicine
Advanced medicine has it s advantages, but the medicine today mimics the characteristics of
plants used to help people way before man made treatments. Herbal remedies don t have many of
the side effects drugs have today. Looking into the roots of herbal medicine can make modern
medicine more effective, safer, and healthier for generations to come. Native Americans before they
were exposed to modern medicineand technology, only relied on plant based medicine. The Sumac
tree was used often in Native American culture for both food and health remedies. The Sumac is
native to temperate and subtropical zones and it was grown in North America. It was seen as a
sacred plant that helped improve the lives of the Native Americans. The parts that were usually
used were the root bark, leaves, and berries ( Herbal Medicine ). Sumac was very versatile in that
it helped with many health issues the Native Americans often faced. The active properties the plant
contained were Calcium malate, Dehydro Fisetin, Fisetin, Iodine, Gallic acid methyl ester, tannic
and gallic acids, Selenium, and Tartaric acid (Jackson, Deb, and Karen Bergeron. Sumac (Rhus
Glabra) ). Usually the infusion of the bark and roots held most of these helpful qualities. The
mixture itself acted as an astringent, antiseptic, alterative, and a tonic ( Sumac ) . The berries on the
other hand are used mainly for bowel complaints.
Regular health issues Native Americans faced included diarrhea, sore throat, rashes, and

The Differences And Similarities Between Cats And Dogs
There are several similarities between cats and dogs, but at the same time, there are a lot of
differences between them. These two animals are the most popular pets today. Some people
would rather have the company of a cat, and some would rather have the company of a dog.
Some similarities between dogs and cats are that they are apart of the mammal kingdom. They
give birth to their young. They both can give birth to multiple offsprings at one time, and they
both also drink milk from their mothers when they are babies. Dogs and cats are also kept as pets,
and they need love and affection from their owners. When you pet your dog or catit can relieve
stress that you have and your pets. Both cats and dogs display natural territorial instincts. They both
mark and defend their own territory. Cats will avoid other cats territory unless they have to pass
through. When a dog comes into another dog s territory, that dog will show dominates and shoo the
other dog away. According to Pets4Homes, they say we often think that humans tamed cats and
dogs and turned them into the pets that we own today, in reality, it was the cats and dogs
themselves that initiated their first interactions with humans, moving closer and closer to human
settlements several millennia ago. Cats and dogs would benefit from close proximity to human
habitation in order to scavenge and find food and stay warm, while humans got the advantage of
having dogs to scare off potential threats and help them to

skill of compromise to keep peace with its inhabitants. While a ruling king may have been
necessary for times in early Mesopotamia or ancient Egypt, we see the Roman Kingdom begin its

Since its creation the firearm has served as man s best means of self preservation, has helped in the
expansion of frontiers, and has served to help many, including Americans, to secure and enforce

of tyranny throughout the world. We refer to our troops as armed forces and the necessity of
maintaining our firepower has been recognized throughout the human history, which the firearmhas

In Great Britain, for instance, the crime rate jumped almost forty percent following that nation s
gun ban and seizure (BBC News par. 1). The research that was commissioned by the Countryside
Alliance s Campaign for Shooting showed that the law only affected the legitimate gun owners
rather than criminals themselves (par. 2). The ban was put into effect due to the Hamilton
Massacre when a man by the name of Thomas Hamilton walked into a primary school and left
sixteen children and teachers dead (par. 3). The Centre for Defense Studies at Kings College in
London, which carried out the research, said that the number of crimes in which a handgun was

It also said that there was no link between high levels of gun crime and areas where there were

How Does Water Teach Siddhartha
Siddhartha is taught not by Buddha, but by the behavior and the movement of the water that
surrounds him. The motion and life likeness of water can be classified as an important symbol in
Buddhist thinking. Water to Siddhartha and his mentor, Vasudeva, is not just something for them to
ferry people across, but a teacher to help them understand the way life works. The water taught
Siddharthamany things but most importantly it taught him to live in the present, that the past
always comes back, and that life is transitory. First, when Siddhartha comes to Vasudeva and is

It symbolizes how in Buddhism the now is perfect, that everything comes back to you, and in
life you have to go through many things to gain different aspects of a whole. In Buddhism the
world is perfect how it is not, just like how water teaches Siddhartha that the now is good and he
should live in the present not the past or the future. In Buddhism it also states that everything
come backs to you, just like the water telling Siddhartha that his past will always come back even
if he lives in the present, it will always come back to him. The water also teaches Siddhartha the
importance of how life is transitory, or not permanent. It teaches Siddhartha this because Siddhartha

Buddhism does. The water is a metaphor for the journey of the Buddha, or Siddhartha, learning

and changes their newsfeed algorithm to improve what posts visitors are served in their

to pay to reach a higher percentage of their page fans but oftentimes can be combatted, at least to
a certain degree, by switching up your Facebook strategy. Here are two of the changes that have
been made recently: 1.Reducing links to low quality web page experiences This is another version

Also keep in mind that as you accumulate bad points for these individual links, Facebook counts
them against the entire domain so, for example, if Facebook flags www.yourdomain.com/my

www.yourdomain.com as low quality links, no matter what comes after the slash (/). B.Pop up
ads or lightboxes It wasn t that long ago pop ups were the bane of our online existence. Later,
sites began to implement ads in lightboxes or modals a kind of pop up that doesn t open in the
web page via a script or other types of programming so that they couldn t be blocked by pop up
blockers until ultimately sites started to figure out that visitors hate any kind of ad that keeps
them from viewing what they came to the site to view. But they haven t gone away completely;
most sites have just modified their use to only make asks related to the site or brand itself, such
as signing up for a newsletter, following them on social media, or just sharing the article, which
can be a great list or follower builder. Unfortunately, Facebook makes no differentiation between
these new uses and the pop up windows of old. If you have any kind call to action (CTA),
regardless of whether it opens a secondary tab/window or if it is a lightbox that opens within your
web page, Facebook will flag the page as a low quality experience because you are serving up an ad

Arsenic As A Natural Component Of The Earth s Crust And...
What is Arsenic?
Arsenic with the symbol As is a metalloid that means it has properties from both metals and
nonmetals. It is a natural component of the earth s crust and you can find it in its gray, yellow and
black form. In the environment it forms organic and inorganic chemical compounds as a result of
natural and anthropogenic activities.
A worldwide phenomenon (magnitude of the problem)( A worldwide impact)
Poisoning from arsenic is not a threat that belongs to the past and it should not be taken
lighthearted. The long term effects like cancer require a few decades to manifest and many times the
measures and regulations do not eliminate the catastrophic outcomes. More than 137 million people
in 70 countries are affected by the arsenic content in the drinking water capacities. The outbreak in
Bangladesh is the robust example which is needed to alert ourselves. Since the 1970s millions of
Bangladeshis have suffered from the acute and the chronic effects of the consumption of arsenic
contaminated water. The crisis is still far from resolution. The lack of coordination of the different
responsible agencies as well as the disadvantages of being one of the poorest nations, contribute to
this phenomenon. Other regions in the world suffering from contaminated water with arsenic are
Argentina, Nepal and regions of the United States of America.

Four Theories Of The Press Essay
Four Theories of the press According to three professors of communication Fred S. Siebert,
Theodore Peterson and Wilbur Schramm there are four theories of the Press (Siebert, Peterson and
Schramm, 1956).
Authoritarian Theory Authoritarian theory in mass media can be comprehended as media that
operate under either publicly or privately owned (Biagi, 2012). The authoritarian theory is origin
from Ancient Greece philosophy Plato (407 327 B.C) with the theory who thought that the State
was safe only in the hands of a few wise men (Peoi.org, 2015). Then, a brittish academician,
Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) had argued that the power to maintain order was sovereign and
individual objections were to be ignored (Peoi.org, 2015). Another German thinker, Engel further
reinforced the theory by stating that freedom came into its supreme right only under
Authoritarianism (Peoi.org, 2015). Authoritarian theory concept of the press is developed in
Europe after Gutenberg. Presses in Europe were privately owned until the 1850s. However the
aristocracy who governed the countries wanted some sort of control on the financial and political
power. The aristocracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Libertarian theory is under private sphere (Penning, 2006). The libertarian theory declares that,
everyone has the right to publish anything that he wants without fear of the constraints of licensing
or censorship. This theory is free from government control, even to the point of allowing attacks on
institution (Amira, 2012). In this theory, the Libertarian model functions as a watchdog to monitor
government policy. However, there are also limitations among the libertarian model. Limitations of
libertarian like journalism have been unwilling to recognize and censure colleagues who violate
professional standards. Sometimes, there will be standards overly abstract and ambiguous.
Journalism may pursue truth aggressively and present the news

Summary Of The Fairy Forest In A Tale Of A Short Story
The forest of Quedayla, is located next to the swamp. The swamp is where the terrifying
monsters, by the fairies standards, are banished, where they will never have peace, while being
on high alert for the dangerous swamp creatures that lurk among them. One of the monsters in
the swamp is Fowley the witch, how is particularly more enraged at the fairy s than others, for
banishing her to the dark depths of the swamp. So, she devised a plan to turn their beautiful
home into a place to fear, just like they did to her. After, weeks of work Fowley made a tar like
substance, that would turn all the plant matter in its path to dead remains. Under the cloak of
night, she snuck to the outskirts of the fairy village, located at the heart of Quedayla. Where she
placed the tar like substance at the foot of an old oak tree and it started to decay. At a slower rate
than Fowley was hopping, but she had no time to fix it, because there are fairy guards patrolling
the border of the fairy village, to ensure everyone in the village stayed safe. The next day in the
fairy village, in the afternoon Lily went to the training field for the fairies guards where she

Four years later the fruits of this trade is still paying off for Boston. Boston has the number pick

number 1 pick on most mock drafts boards. He has the potential to be so great that recent rumors

can coexist in the same backcourt, Fultz was a point guard in college, however I think he will
thrive in the NBA as shooting guard with everyone playing small ball. Fultz doesn t need
Thomas to create a shot for him, he can create his own shot off the dribble, and if Thomas is out

and leave him all by his lonesome self (Pfister 11). Later on, Rainbow Fish gets some advice from
the all knowing octopus (Pfister 14). The octopus tells Rainbow Fish that he will be happy if he
shares all of his scales (Pfister 14 16). So Rainbow Fish takes his advice and shares all of his scales
with all the other fish (Pfister 24). At the end, Rainbow Fish learns how to make friends by sharing
his most prized scales (Pfister 27).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Pfister also puts sliver sticker scales on Rainbow Fish to show his most beautiful sliver
scales that pop off of the page. I believe this illustration plays an important role in The Rainbow
Fish because Rainbow Fish is supposed to be the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean. And I
believe that Marcus Pfister did a wonderful job depicting Rainbow Fish as the most beautiful fish in
the ocean in this illustration. That is why I believe that the artwork is the most important element
of craft in this

The Old And New Testament
The Bible is made up of two main books, the Old and New Testament, which both consist of
stories and the experiences of the apostles and the disciples. The Bible talks about every topic
imaginable to man; but the topic of woman is still today, a very controversial one. Depending on
whom you talk to, opinions will vary dramatically. Are women seen as equal to man? Are women
independent or dependent , and Are women only seen for their beauty and duties in the household?
. Throughout the Bible, women are spoken about quite a bit. In Genesis, man and womanare
created, in Proverbs, the perfect wife is described, and in Corinthians, marriage roles are talked
about. The Bible can be interpreted in many ways depending on someone s opinion.... Show more

Adam and Eve, probably, both were gardeners/farmers of the Garden of Eden. They didn t have
children yet and there was no other human being or other job on the earth. One did not do a
more masculine or feminine job than the other, they were equal. Another item of note; before
Adam and Eve ate the fruit of knowledge, they both had no idea that they were naked. They did
not know there was a right and wrong, they couldn t get embarrassed, or jealous, or angry. They
were innocent. Adam wasn t the only one innocent or naked, Eve was as well. God didn t give
more knowledge to Adam than Eve, they were given equal amount of knowledge and
responsibility. That was the only time that human beings were perfectly equal. The only reason for
that, of course, was because it was before they ate from the tree of knowledge. After that, mankind
was born into the knowledge of embarrassment, anger, jealousy, pride, and inequality. The definition
of equality is, the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities. When looking
at the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve were equal in status, rights, and opportunities. Soon after
Eve was created, Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge and convinced Adam to as well. This was
the fall into sin. When God found out about this he punished them both. To Eve, he said Your desire
shall be for your husband. And he

Outsourcing In The United States
The need for outsourcing to halt.
Outsourcing, or the practice of Corporations expanding their influence, and labor force to foreign
countries needs to stop. As it causes the decline of developed nations labor forces, does nothing to
fix inequality in underdeveloped nations, has adverse affects on the economies of developed
nations, and outsourcing allows corporations to cause extensive harm the the world, and it s
enviornment. If the practice of globalization were ended, it would improve the lives of many people
in developed nations, the policies that affect them, and ultimately the world.

pollution, and damage to plant life on a global scale has become more and more problematic as
time goes on. As good that are manufactured in other nations are produced faster, and more
efficiently, the usage of fuel to transport these goods has spiked massively. As stated in a
publication OCED As critical drivers of outsourcing, transport systems have multiplied alongside
international trade. Emissions from road transport (mainly cars and lorries) are of course very
high, but more so within national borders. (OCED, pg 112) from a report from bp s 2012
statistical review shows, china s (a country heavily outsourced to) coal burning has increased by 1

Virginia Axline s Theory Of Person Centered Theory
Feelings and thoughts about the theory Person Centered Theory stands out amongst the multitude
of theories developed to help improve the lives of individuals. Carl Rogers was the pioneer of
Person Centered Theory, which was the basis for Virginia Axline s development of Child Centered
Play Therapy. Immediately, I felt a connection as I began learning about the principles of Person
Centered Theory. The introduction to this theory led me to discover the work of Virginia Axline.
My interest in counseling children was reinforced by the fundamental elements of playtherapy.
Further, the story of Dibs engendered hope and enthusiasm for the possibility that this could be the
theory from which I work. The humanistic perspective is noteworthy,... Show more content on

However, the stories that his mother shared with Axline were insightful and I began to feel
empathy for her. My anger towards his parents never fully dissolved; though my feelings of
jubilation prevailed as Dibs progressed and improved. The success of play therapy achieved in the
end was uplifting. Throughout the story, my emotions were on a roller coaster. I was engrossed in
the techniques of Axline s approach and the gradual development of Dibs personality. His
improvement was evident and I felt joyous each time he demonstrated strength and hope. In the
beginning, Dibs was resistant to leaving the Child Guidance Center because he feared going home
to an emotionally absent environment. Soon, he began accepting the fact that when the hour ended
he had to leave. An endearing moment happened when Dibs told Axline that he would return the
following Thursday to fill up again with happiness (Axline, 1964, p. 133). The playroom was a
special place where Dibs could express himself without limitation, and his liberation was refreshing.
Key points gathered about the theorist s point of view Virginia Axline s work in Child Centered
Play Therapy stemmed from the Person Centered theoretical orientation of Carl Rogers. She shared
the perspective in which the value of the therapeutic nature is derived from the recognition by the
individual as a capable being and the realization of responsibility. A desired goal of therapy is
understanding, which

Truman s Mom Research Paper
It is, and always has been a parent s job to raise their child; to bring them up into the world as best
they can to become functioning members of society. Truman s mom, like my mom showed him
the way the world worked. Unlike my mom, Truman s lied to him throughout the process which
gave him a twisted idea of what the real world is.
When looking at the way Truman s mom impacted him throughout his life, most would see it as
negative. She fundamentally lied to him his entire life in order to cover up the truth. Our parents are
the main people in our lives who both introduce us to the world, and help us to understand how
things work in it. My mom has significantly shaped the way I view the world because from the
beginning she has tried to steer me right by telling me what she believes to be the truths of the
world. We all trust our parents to tellus what is right in the world. When Christof is explaining
why Truman has never questioned his surroundings he says, We accept the reality of the world
with which we re presented. It s as simple as that. Because this is a true statement, it becomes clear
that Truman s mom was the main person who made him become acclimated to this fake ... Show

my life when I see nature, I know that it is God rather than a person. The person who tells me this
and helps me to know the truth is my mom. In the movie, Truman s mom lets him know what he

Analysis Of The Poem I Am I m Charlotte Wasserman
Hello, I m Charlotte Wasserman, and today I will be sharing my journey in poetry writing. I
began to love poetry in the sixth grade. I had never written that much before, but I discovered
that I get this inspirational feeling when I write poetry that I never get in anything else.
Sometimes my poems seemed good from the start; some I knew needed a little help. I think
some of my best poems were revised over and over. Just remember, I d rather have a rough draft
in the beginning and have a great piece at the end than to never write or try at all!
Let s talk about imagery; imagery is a skill in poetry writing. I have grown in my ability to show
imagery this year, and I think I m great at this skill. It makes the reader form a picture in his or
her head. So, I have two pieces that are nothing alike, except they show how imagery can be used
in separate ways. Imagery is an important skill that all writers should know of. It can make every
creative piece 100 percent better. This first piece I m sharing today is not the best, but you will
listen to the difference and growth between my first and second piece. My first piece I ll be reading
today is called Beneficial. It was one of our vocabulary words!
Beneficial
Beneficial was sitting at her desk.

The Davis Trial-Accused of Murder by Abortion Essay example
The Queen vs. Davis case concerns the murder trial of Arthur Paul Davis and Alice Davis that
occurred in 1875. In it, they were tried and convicted of murder for conducting an abortion; the
killing of a fetus and subsequently causing death of the victims, Catherine Laing and Jane Vaughn
Gilmour. This essay will examine the historical context of the case, what the trial reveals about the
nature of women s lives in Toronto during the 1870s as subordinate women who are deemed as
caretakers and how women managed to end unwanted pregnancies. During the late 19th century
ending an unwanted pregnancywas an illegal offence because it was considered unethical to kill a
fetus. Women were not able to access safer alternatives such as... Show more content on

After her death George Laing s suspicions led him to believe that she did not die of Typhoid
fever as the man who buried her stated. Dr. Davis had hired Jacob Amour to build a coffin the
size big enough to fit a body, and told him that it was case of Typhoid and presented him with the
death certificate. She was put in a coffin and taken out of Toronto to Hamilton. Dr. Davis
received the certificate of death from Dr. Isaac Ryall by stating that it was the case of typhoid.
No one knew at the time that Catherine was pregnant or that she was had a family of her own.
Suspicions grew about the cause of death as the body did not seem like a case of typhoid when
examined; instead seemed like an induced abortion by means of violence. It was clearly noted
during the investigation and newspaper reports by the Globe and Mail that Dr. Davis was not a
licensed doctor. Investigations took place because witnesses saw a box on the side of the ditch
and later discovered that it had a body of a young woman. Constables were informed and
coroners began an inquest. The next body discovered along a ditch was of Jane Vaughn Gilmour.
Gilmour was a single woman who had emigrated from Scotland with her family, and was living in
Canada for 3 years. She lived with a middle class family, the Clements and worked as their servant.
It was suspected that she was seduced and impregnated

Nelson Mandela Courage Analysis
Leaders: Creating A Better Tomorrow Important leaders/activists have left an impactful effect
on not just our lives, but the worlds. But certain leaders, out of millions, have touched us
effectively. Leaving us with a strive and determination to change the world we live in today. For
Instance, Nelson Mandela a man full of courage, fought endlessly until he saw freedom rights
for all. Additionally, Gandhi was disgusted by the unequal treatment to certain races, so he
decided to stand up for an equal life, for all. Last but certainly not least, Morgan Brian who was
shocked and impacted by the unequal pay between women and men soccer players, and decided
to fight it. Although these individuals used different methods, they all had courage, passion, and
devoted followers, who helped them stand up for their cause. To start, Nelson Mandela had
courage, a large group that shared the same ideas that he did, and the dedication to his fight that
made him sacrifice so much. For instance, I learned the meaning of courage...showing a strength
and resiliency that defies the imagination (Mandela). This shows how Mandela had courage,
which ultimately was his inspiration for freedom to be widespread, for both the oppressed and the
oppressors. Additionally, I saw that it was not just my freedom that was curtailed, but the freedom
of everyone who looked like I did. That is when I joined the African National Congress, and that is
when the hunger for my own freedom became the greater

All three of these justifications are excuses that killed innocent lives. Black people did not have the right to a trial the only race that was given that right were Whites. This is problematic, as Black people could not testify or defend themselves, thus their result was an unjust death. He attempted to seek for the acceptable compromises between all and each mode to define a better way of understanding the social world. Hollis clearly states that the key task of this book is to reflect on the underlying philosophy of social sciencethrough the critical examination of the theory and methodology in each approach. Some of the key questions are; whether the study of social science can use the same method as in natural science, does structure determine an action or does action determines structure in the process of social changes, and is there such a thing as the universal strategy to help social scientists in understanding the way of the world. The main theme focuses on Explanation and Understanding with the minor theme of Holism and Individualism. The book initially gives the impression that each social study approach has its strength and weakness that the combination of approaches would be beneficial and worth pursuing. Hollis starts off with the introduction of Structure and Action. The comparative framework is set out by the two social scientists who employ two different principles; Karl Marx and John Stuart Mills. Determinism is then introduced to further illuminate the difference between these two theories. Hollis also provides readers with the fundamental feature of Explanation and Understanding. • 10. Human Induced Global Climate Change Essay Human Induced Global Climate Change Worldwide temperatures are rising, carbon dioxide is at a hazardous level, ocean acidification, atmosphere boundary shifts, and extreme events are just a few of the worldwide climate changes happening near and far. It is a controversial issue whether it is taking place in the present velocity because of nature or man. However, global climate changes happen naturally, but they ought not to happen at this increased rapidity; therefore, human activity is a great cause that global climate changeis happening at an expanded rate. The greatest contribution of human action is the combustion of fossil fuels, which is one of the primary reasons why the carbon dioxidelevels are nearing high hazard strata. Thus, the scientific confirmation supports that the rise in carbon dioxide levels is significantly generated by people, not nature, and people are ultimately the largest contributor to the atmospheric changes; thus, human beings should implement changes to their energy sources and modify agricultural production in order to lessen the quantity of carbon dioxide emitted into the aura at the extraordinary rate it currently is passing. Fossil fuels are of course produced from coal, petroleum, gas, diesel fuel, and natural gasses. Carbon dioxide is one of the many gasses that are emitted from the fossil fuel burning, and carbon dioxide is responsible for trapping heat in the earth s atmosphere. Because it allows the HIM professional to be consciously aware of the duty and responsibility that he/she has in regards to patient confidentiality, privacy and security. It also allows them to know what the repercussions might be in case they were to break the law. #2 Does a single document or source of law exist where an individual can find all of the rules governing health information? Why or why not? No. Since the laws and regulations are divided into federal, state and local levels, they are interpreted differently by each of the court systems, all three different levels. The appeal to man to turn from his selfish ways dates back to the Old Testament and is clearly displayed in the actions God puts into place with Abraham and the formation of the nation of Israel. These activities are evident in Abraham and the nation of Israel through promises made, examples to show His glory, and Israel s comparison to the Church today. They are the use of the Israelites to reach the world as a proclamation, Abraham s specific calling to become a priestly nation, and the nation as an example. God s plan and work are directed to the entire of humanity with His desire to save all of mankind.12 However, man s struggle against God is apparent in events such as the attempt to reach heaven at Babel (Gen. 11:1 9) and the universal condemnation of wickedness, which caused the great flood (Gen. 6:5).13 Israel was designed to be a solid foundation for other nations to turn to. • 23. The Effect Of Ph On The Function Of The Enzyme Amylase Discussion Effect of pH on the Function of the Enzyme Amylase The objective of the lab was to examine the effects of environmental variables on the functions of an enzyme. To the point, an experiment was conducted to test the effect of pH on the function of the enzyme Amylase. Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts and help reactions take place. In short, enzymes reduce the energy needed for a reaction to take place, permitting a reaction to take place more easily. Some enzymes are shape specific and reduce the energy for certain reactions. Enzymes have unique folds of the amino acid chain which result in specifically shaped active sites (Frankova Fry 2013). When substrates fit in the active site of an enzyme, then it is able to catalyze the reaction. Enzyme activity is affected by the concentrations of the enzymes and substrate present (Worthington 2010). As the incidence of enzyme increases, the rate of reaction increases. Additionally, as the incidence of substrate increases so does the rate of reaction. Almost all enzymes need specific conditions for them to function. The conditions include temperature, pH level, and concentration of salt. Enzymes have optimal conditions. If they are changed, the enzyme may denature and deactivate. If that happens, the enzyme would not be able to catalyze the reaction, and the reaction rate would decrease (Worthington 2010). Amylase is a digestive enzyme. The enzyme is found in the salivary glands in your mouth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Treaty of Versailles was an important catalyst for Hitler s rise to power. On 28 July 1919 the Treaty of Versailles was signed by the Weimar Republic. With propaganda Hitler tried to convince people that the Nazi s was the only right party. In 1929 Hitler chose Josef Goebbels to be his minister of propaganda. Josef Goebbels created campaigns with slogans and pictures which were spread throughout the country to convince and persuade people about ideas. Hitler used propaganda in different ways. Pro Nazi s movies were made under production of Josef Goebbels and books with Nazi propaganda were written. The Nazi s even sent instructions to newspapers which instructed them to write anti Jewish stories. Josef Goebbels made sure that no one could see or read something that was damaging to the Nazi s. Books which did not match with the Nazi ideal were burned and the Nazi s even controlled the film industry. This meant many movies idealized Hitler and the Nazi party. Hitler used propaganda because although he won the elections, he did not have the majority of support along the people. Therefore he wanted to ensure the people that the Nazi party was the only correct choice. Moreover he wanted to convince people who did not support him that it was pointless to continue with their opposition. The Nazi s use of propaganda helped Hitler to convince the German people of his ideas. The Science Of Shopping By Gladwell s Article For generations, Americans has been brainwashed by the media to believe that what is displayed on television is the ideal perception of what real beauty have manipulated American citizens of what style looks like. Furthermore, with their many brainwashing strategies, that means more and more consumers spending beyond their budget. Our perspectives have been heavily influenced by what they believe is nice, but can we afford it all? With unrealistic combination of goods in store, plazas, and mall, consuming has become a bad behavior of some. In support of my argument of the Overspending , author Gladwell s article The Science of Shopping also argues that stores adjust to fit the needs and wants of the shopper are evidently presented. With that being said, we have no idea when we are being manipulated into unrealistic shopping behavior that is influenced by the way the advertisement is presented in visual sight. These two animals are the most popular pets today. Some people would rather have the company of a cat, and some would rather have the company of a dog. Some similarities between dogs and cats are that they are apart of the mammal kingdom. They give birth to their young. They both can give birth to multiple offsprings at one time, and they both also drink milk from their mothers when they are babies. Dogs and cats are also kept as pets, and they need love and affection from their owners. When you pet your dog or catit can relieve stress that you have and your pets. Both cats and dogs display natural territorial instincts. They both mark and defend their own territory. Cats will avoid other cats territory unless they have to pass through. When a dog comes into another dog s territory, that dog will show dominates and shoo the other dog away. According to Pets4Homes, they say we often think that humans tamed cats and dogs and turned them into the pets that we own today, in reality, it was the cats and dogs themselves that initiated their first interactions with humans, moving closer and closer to human settlements several millennia ago. Authoritarian Theory Authoritarian theory in mass media can be comprehended as media that operate under either publicly or privately owned (Biagi, 2012). The authoritarian theory is origin from Ancient Greece philosophy Plato (407 327 B.C) with the theory who thought that the State was safe only in the hands of a few wise men (Peoi.org, 2015). In the beginning, Dibs was resistant to leaving the Child Guidance Center because he feared going home to an emotionally absent environment. Soon, he began accepting the fact that when the hour ended he had to leave. An endearing moment happened when Dibs told Axline that he would return the following Thursday to fill up again with happiness (Axline, 1964, p. 133). The playroom was a special place where Dibs could express himself without limitation, and his liberation was refreshing. Key points gathered about the theorist s point of view Virginia Axline s work in Child Centered Play Therapy stemmed from the Person Centered theoretical orientation of Carl Rogers. She shared the perspective in which the value of the therapeutic nature is derived from the recognition by the individual as a capable being and the realization of responsibility. A desired goal of therapy is understanding, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Truman s Mom Research Paper It is, and always has been a parent s job to raise their child; to bring them up into the world as best they can to become functioning members of society. Truman s mom, like my mom showed him the way the world worked. Unlike my mom, Truman s lied to him throughout the process which gave him a twisted idea of what the real world is. When looking at the way Truman s mom impacted him throughout his life, most would see it as negative. She fundamentally lied to him his entire life in order to cover up the truth. My mom has significantly shaped the way I view the world because from the beginning she has tried to steer me right by telling me what she believes to be the truths of the world. When Christof is explaining why Truman has never questioned his surroundings he says, We accept the reality of the world with which we re presented. It s as simple as that. • 48. Analysis Of The Poem I Am I m Charlotte Wasserman Hello, I m Charlotte Wasserman, and today I will be sharing my journey in poetry writing. I began to love poetry in the sixth grade. I had never written that much before, but I discovered that I get this inspirational feeling when I write poetry that I never get in anything else. Sometimes my poems seemed good from the start; some I knew needed a little help. I think some of my best poems were revised over and over. Just remember, I d rather have a rough draft in the beginning and have a great piece at the end than to never write or try at all! Let s talk about imagery; imagery is a skill in poetry writing. I have grown in my ability to show imagery this year, and I think I m great at this skill. It makes the reader form a picture in his or her head. So, I have two pieces that are nothing alike, except they show how imagery can be used in separate ways. Imagery is an important skill that all writers should know of. It can make every creative piece 100 percent better. This first piece I m sharing today is not the best, but you will listen to the difference and growth between my first and second piece. My first piece I ll be reading today is called Beneficial. It was one of our vocabulary words! Beneficial Beneficial was sitting at her desk. She saw her friend missing her textbook during class. As the helpful, favorable person she was She knew when to give her friend the extra textbook she had. Favors are Beneficial s thing! All her friends depend on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In it, they were tried and convicted of murder for conducting an abortion; the killing of a fetus and subsequently causing death of the victims, Catherine Laing and Jane Vaughn Gilmour. This essay will examine the historical context of the case, what the trial reveals about the nature of women s lives in Toronto during the 1870s as subordinate women who are deemed as caretakers and how women managed to end unwanted pregnancies. During the late 19th century ending an unwanted pregnancywas an illegal offence because it was considered unethical to kill a fetus. Women were not able to access safer alternatives such as... Dr. Davis had hired Jacob Amour to build a coffin the size big enough to fit a body, and told him that it was case of Typhoid and presented him with the death certificate. She was put in a coffin and taken out of Toronto to Hamilton. Dr. Davis received the certificate of death from Dr. Isaac Ryall by stating that it was the case of typhoid. No one knew at the time that Catherine was pregnant or that she was had a family of her own. Suspicions grew about the cause of death as the body did not seem like a case of typhoid when examined; instead seemed like an induced abortion by means of violence. It was clearly noted during the investigation and newspaper reports by the Globe and Mail that Dr. Davis was not a licensed doctor. Investigations took place because witnesses saw a box on the side of the ditch and later discovered that it had a body of a young woman. Constables were informed and coroners began an inquest. The next body discovered along a ditch was of Jane Vaughn Gilmour. Gilmour was a single woman who had emigrated from Scotland with her family, and was living in Canada for 3 years. She lived with a middle class family, the Clements and worked as their servant. It was suspected that she was seduced and impregnated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, I learned the meaning of courage...showing a strength and resiliency that defies the imagination (Mandela). This shows how Mandela had courage, which ultimately was his inspiration for freedom to be widespread, for both the oppressed and the oppressors.
