The Court Of The Lawyer
This court is now in session! The bailiff s gruff voice thunders across the room, commanding a
respectful silence as the honorable judge takes his seat. The back pews scrape against the floor noisily
as people hurry to claim their seats. The novice lawyer glares back nervously at the gallery before
exchanging a hopeful look with his client, who is just as skittish. A cold sweat began pouring down
the lawyer s neck as he faces down the prosecuting attorney, looking as confident as she was cold. As
they lock eyes, the animosity is so thick a knife could cut through it. Eventually the trial begins, and
both sides throw verbal cannonballs. As the court proceedings continue, the lawyer is inevitably asked
to take the stand and make the final ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This competitive mentality introduces the startling correlation between mental health and the legal
profession, and how the urge to be the best doesn t always end when the court is adjourned. Every day,
lawyers have to juggle the immense burden of pressure placed on them by their colleagues, clients,
and courtroom dramas; while this rather strenuous job does lend its way to alcoholism and other
means of coping, there are more effective ways of dealing with it, like first admitting that you have a
problem and finding someone who can help you. Alcoholism, a psychological disorder usually
associated with alcohol addiction/abuse in general, is by far the most prevalent mental health issue in
several high pressure careers across the country (Alcohol Abuse and Dependence, par. 1). Many well
respected doctors, politicians, and athletes have confessed to being tempted by the appropriately titled
demon in a bottle at some point in their careers. In many cases, it can be fought back with self
regulation, outside intervention, and in the worse possible scenario, withdrawal. However, alcoholism
factors much differently into the world of law, and in this case, different can be deadly. Success is held
to a different standard for the lawyer. In order to truly be successful, an attorney must have the drive to
give it their all, and put their heart and soul into every case. It s not just their salary that is

Why Do Boys And Girls Be Raised Differently
Cumulatively, those with multiple children would like to assume that they raise all their offspring the
same. This, however, may be deemed as untrue as treatment and attitudes may vary depending on the
sex of the child. The query of whether boys and girls are raised differently is a polar question and
often varies chronologically. Little girls are princesses, their existence screams extravagance even
before they are born. The moment one realizes that they are carrying a little girl until birth, the lengthy
name choosing process begin. Generally, parents try to find the most unique names that vary in
spelling and meaning. No name is ever quite worthy of being attached to their little princess.
Consequentially, the poor girl could end up with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As babies, their rooms are filled with manly things like sports wall stickers, model cars and plush toys,
including a stuffed rabbit that he will inevitably favor over everything else. Boys are more encouraged
to be active and adventurous. While boys are still coddled and adored, they re allowed to be
rambunctious and cause trouble.
Parents are subject to use harsher disciplinary methods with boys, however, some are less likely to
enforce these rules. The more sports conscious and agile boys seem to get, the more exempt they
become to rules and regulation. Curfews are lifted for the sake of sports practice and groundings are
nonexistent. There are a select group of parents who prefer brains over brawn and will instill morals
into their sons. Abysmal grades and misbehavior are never condoned regardless of the son s athletic
ability and the boy turns out decent later in life.
Conclusively, the sex based comparison of child rearing is more conditional to the number of children
one has as opposed to the sex of the children themselves. There is no real difference in the way
children, in that, they all are expected to conform to their environments and the rules

Post Study Work Profit In Australia
Post study work permit in Australia
When it comes to overseas education whether to have a bachelor s degree or a master s qualification
certificate, Australia is the first choice of many aspirants to be considered as an education destination.
For several reasons Australia is the best place for students across the globe:
1. Applicants find the student visa process to be simpler and fairer compared to other countries.
2. Australia has always encouraged entry of immigrants from across the globe resulting in a
multicultural society and due to this students from foreign countries find it easy to fit in.
3. Compared to the United Kingdom or the United States of America, the cost of living in Australia is
lower.

J Lloyd Eaton
Born July 08 1902, J Lloyd Eaton began his own type of bibliomania during high school. During this
period he started a collection devoted to pulp adventure stories. When he started medical school the
collection criteria had expanded to detective stories and westerns. By the time he had established his
practice, he became more focused on science fiction and fantasy. Like most bibliomaniacs, at first he
was satisfied with only browsing bookstores. Gradually, this developed into working with dealers in
New York and London. More interested in Pre 1920 materials, he had books from H.G Wells, Arthur
Conan Doyle, H.P. Lovecraft, Frank Aubrey, and other well known twentieth century authors. Over a
period of thirty years Eaton gathered seven thousand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Written in 1623, fewer than twenty copies exist of the first edition. Nearly all are held by private
universities in the United States and Europe making the acquisition even more rare (UCRT). City of
the Sun is considered one of the most important utopias having influenced Bacon s New Atlantis.
Written by Tommaso Campanella and published by Daelli, Milano in 1863 it is influenced by
Campanella s imprisonment during the Inquisition as a perfect world for people like him (McLean).
Tommaso Campanella is considered one of the most important philosopher of the late Renaissance. He
was condemned to heresy by denouncing the Spanish Inquisition, but was released and exiled. As his
ideas began to spread, he became an inspiration behind a conspiracy to overthrow Spanish rule and
was imprisoned again in 1598 . He escaped the death penalty by faking madness and was held for
twenty seven years where he wrote many political works. Trinity s copy of City of the Sun is volume
eleven and blindstamped with full leather bindings. It is numbered to about one hundred and eighty
nine pages with roman type. It is in good condition with yellowed and spotted pages. Woodcuts of
Tommaso Campanella and Tommaso More, now venerated as Saint Thomas, are featured. There are
no table of contents or index but, there is a proof of provenance that states this work s owner was
Raffaelo Itlodeo and a author s note that states that this book is a poetical dialogue (Campanella 27).
The publication of City of the Sun is what led to the second imprisonment of Tommaso Campanella.
In the city there are no masters or servants, laws are clear, and everyone has a chance to express their
grievances, but just about every aspect of society is regulated. The heavy regulation is also similar to
Campanella s society at the time and resulted in a conspiracy to overthrow the government. Through

Questions on Brown Forman s Takeover of Southern Comfort...
Brown Forman Case
1. Perform analysis on the historical financial statements of Brown Forman. Evaluate the financial
health of Brown Forman. Here you should perform ratio and trend analysis, along with creating
common sized financial statements. Assess the overall financial health of Brown Forman prior to the
proposed purchase of Southern Comfort. Brown Forman is a leading producer, marketer and importer
of wines and distilled spirits. The company was the fifth largest distiller in the United States.
However, the company s success will largely due to the massive amounts of advertising expenditures
on their premium brands. The company spent significantly less on low profit brands and as a result the
whiskey market declined. Their response was to move into faster growing product lines to alcoholic
beverages and this analysis considers a horizontal acquisition of the Southern Comfort brand. There
are many advantages that can be gained through this acquisition. One is that the company developed a
distinctive brand with loyal customers and a brand that is growing faster than competitors in the same
niche. Plus, liqueur found in the Southern Comfort beverage does not need to age and can be produced
and sold much faster than the traditional whiskey line. Thus the company could use advertising to
drive sales with the capacity to increase production as needed. However, Brown Forman wants
$94.6m for the company but the book value in 1977 was $16.7m. Therefore, Southern Comfort

Vitamins For Fatigue
Vitamins for Fatigue
Fatigue is a feeling of tiredness. This is usually due to physical, medical condition or mental activity
that leaves one exhausted. It is therefore prudent for a person to beat such forms of exhaustion so that
their lives go on smoothly. Exercising a healthy diet may be the key to beating such forms of
exhaustion. In this case taking certain types of Vitamins may solve this issue.
Vitamin B12, is a vitamin that is essential in a human being s diet. It is usually water soluble and it
creates energy in the body by converting consumed carbohydrates into the form of glucose. This
vitamin is required by the body for production of red blood cells, the myelin sheath that usually
surrounds the nerve cells and also other proteins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This vitamin is taken in tablet form. It is very important in the body since it enables body metabolisms
to take place effectively and therefore sustain a well functioning brain. A deficiency of Vitamin B9 has
certain symptoms such as poor immune system, depression, confusion and slowed functioning of the
brain, leading to loss of memory and mental fatigue.
Vitamin A is very important in several body metabolisms. It is usually fat soluble. This Vitamin is
important for cell growth and for vision. It is a strong antioxidant that usually protects the body from
breakdown due to free radicals. These free radicals, cause illness in the body and are contracted after
the body is exposed to pollution, stress or intake of a poor diet. Vitamin A is thus important in
neutralizing this damage to body cells and keeps the body stress free by improving the immune
system. This reduces fatigue in the body. This Vitamin is also important in the manufacture of red
blood cells. These are used for carrying oxygen and nutrients to all body cells so that they are supplied
with nutrients at all times. This ensure that body cells are energized at all times reducing the instances
of fatigue. Too much of it is however harmful to the body since it is fat soluble. An excessive
consumption of it can lead to head aches, liver damage and death. People are therefore advised to seek
the opinion of the doctor so that they may know what proportions of vitamin A to consume. Food
sources that are a good source of this Vitamin include carrots, sweet potatoes, leafy greens, lettuce,
fish, tropical fruits and liver. One may also consume vitamin A

Furthermore, in America given the separation of powers, it is entirely possible for either or both
houses of Congress to be controlled by a different party than that of the presidents. In such a
circumstance, they may be more willing to block presidential initiatives than work with the president.
Opportunities for filibustering in the senate are also possible if the president does not have the support
of 60 senators, and this can cause delays in legislation. However, problems with organisation in
congress with a lack of leadership somewhat hinders their ability to oversee the work of the president,
as it is unclear as to whom speaks on behalf of the opposition in congress. Hence it clear that congress
is a more effective at controlling the president than parliament is at controlling the government given
the simple majorities required to pass legislation in the UK.
Congress in committees is Congress at work . A powerful committee system in America guarantees
the organisational effectiveness of Congress. Coupled with the staffing and informational resources
than their UK counterparts, this enables them to provide greater control over the work of the
executive. They can direct these resources in fulfilling a legislative as well as scrutiny function.
However, its ability to influence the work of the executive depends on their degree of specialism for
instance senators from agribusiness would be on the Senate Committee

The Effects Of All Types Of Stimuli On Teenagers Essay

Soc 111: Social Research
Psychological and Sociological studies have examined the impact of all types of stimuli on
Teenagers/Youths criminal behavior like Peer pressure, Parental Attitudes (not caring), Dropping out
of School, Drinking, Drugs, and Yes, Violent Video Games. In the Criminal Justice world, the teenage
brain itself has been cited as a reason to end Solitary confinement for Adolescents and teenagers not to
mention the abolition of both life sentences and the death penalty for Juveniles.
What are the Causes and Effects that makes Youths get into such Deviance Behavior?
When a Youth commits a serious crime, the first responses generally fall into three categories:
Call the Police to make an arrest
Complaints that the City Government is not doing enough to protect the public
Questions about what caused the perpetrator to go do wrong
Youth poverty, not youth biology is the most to blame for youth crime. Also their environment. Within
every race and community youths suffer poverty rated two to three times higher than older adults do.
It is astonishing that researchers have complied theories and claims about youths:
Risk Taking
Impulsiveness
Brain Deficiencies
Crime Proneness
Without examining whether these are due to young people s low socioeconomic status, not young age.
Poverty and crime has a very close relationship that has been describe by professionals from all fields,

Clarity, Arrangement, Credibility, And Expectations
The five cognate strategies I chose were, Clarity, Tone, Arrangement, Credibility, and Expectations.
Clarity in writing is giving a clear understanding about what you are talking about. I ve used clarity in
my writing as a screenwriter by describing a character with clear and precise wording. An example
would be, I am leaving for vacation tomorrow and I won t be back for a month. Lisa Taylor will take
over my position in my absence. Take care . Clarity is when you are explicit with the details you are
relaying in your message. Specific details are key. Tone is how you express yourself. The mood of the
information you re relaying. I ve used Tone in my screenwriting to set a certain tone to the scene. If it
s dark and creepy feeling, I ll say it s dark and theirs a hissing sound in the air .An example would be I
feel really good about the new changes that are being implemented here in this office. I have one
percent faith in you that you can handle the load and that you will go above and beyond your normal
duties to achieve your quotas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hierarchy. Putting in order a list of things. An example in a letter would be We have three floors
and a Three Tiered System. The Top floor is for Higher management. The second floor is for sales and
the third for the mail room. Credibility is when you show character and develop trust with your
audience. An example would be Linda has been working with us now for 10 years and I have absolute
faith that she is capable of stepping into the role of CEO for this firm. Her credentials are impeccable
and I have complete faith in her

Loyalty In Sophocles Antigone
Throughout history, scholars, poets, and socialites cite and argue multiple aspects within Sophocles
plays, which all contain a deluge of sentiments that permeate global society and culture. Riddled with
disparate interpretations and theories, Antigone sparks acrimonious debate regarding a plethora of its
details, such as characterization, theme, and undertone. Antigone, written by the Ancient Greek
playwright Sophocles, recounts the events of Oedipus daughter, Antigone, following her brothers
deaths. Sophocles manipulates Antigone s character to model the loyal, dutiful individual the Greeks
idolized in their religion and culture rather than formulating a realistic character who serves herself.
These attributes of loyalty and duty emerge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To illustrate, Antigone articulates to Ismene that Creon lacks the power to prohibit her from burying
Polyneices (Prologue, line 35). Disregarding Creon s powers, Antigone extends both her immaturity
and recklessness in amanner that both generates a hazy impression of Antigone s plausibility and
discredits her personality because of the seldom conflict between the king and women in Ancient
Greece. Furthermore, characters such as Eurydice and Jocasta, who experience much more tragedy,
diverge from Antigone in the course of their reactions. While Jocasta and Eurydice grieve for their
loved ones and succumb to the sorrow, Antigone s reaction exists at the opposite end of the spectrum
where she acts with the sole intent to spite Creon. Continuing, Antigone dictates that she is not afraid
of the danger; if it means death, / It will not be the worst of deaths death without honor (Prologue,
lines 80 81). Recognizing her inevitable fate, Antigone makes little effort to alter her actions or
consequences. Her proud acceptance of her death, which she claims to be one of honor, projects her
arrogance and stubbornness toward her situation. This immediate compliance fails to reflect the true
outlook and reaction toward approaching death both today and in her time. Additionally, the diatribe
provided by Antigone to the chorus near her death sparks much criticism when she asserts that she
prays Creon s punishment equals her own when the truth of her actions emerges (Scene 4, lines 67
69). Antigone s blatant assault on Creon s life conveys her ignorance, which also transmits the
impossibility of her individuality. Sophocles employs Antigone to generate the generalized perspective
of tyranny Conversely, many individuals justify Antigone s reckless behavior

oversee, and continuously re evaluate the student teaching process. This includes providing guidance
to the division s Supervising Teachers, collecting and analyzing data based on the student teaching
evaluations and surveys, and acting as a liaison between the local schools and IUPUC.
One of the keys to a successful education program is to ensure that the division is employing
individuals whose teaching philosophies line up with that of the program. It is imperative that I seek
out Supervising Teachers who are knowledgeable in and utilizing evidence based best practices. I
entrust that the administrators will choose outstanding teachers to act as student teacher mentors. More

pedagogy they have learned in the classroom. The data is essential to the division s program
development, student retention, recruitment, and national accreditation. It provides the division with
information about program strengths and weaknesses and in turn the reports are used to determine
how to better prepare the students. The data will also be used during the division s national

Analysis Of All Quiet On The Western Front By Erich Remarque
Erich Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front tells the story of a group of German soldiers and
their experience as soldiers during World War I. Paul Baumer, the main character, and his friends,
Stanislaus Katczinsky, Albert Kropp, and Mueller, whiteness extreme brutality and bloodshed unfold
around them, as the war begins to take its toll on each character one by one, fighting in the trenches of
WWI. Remarque tells the audience of the intensity of the war, as well as the horrors that the characters
experience fighting in the trenches. All Quiet on the Western Front tells the story of WW1 as it really
was. WWI would forever transform the way wars would be fought, introducing new technology, such
as aircraft, tanks, machine guns, and gas that would cause much more casualties than wars before it.
WWI would forever dash the ideas of warfare romanticism by highlighting the bloodshed and horrid
conditions that the soldiers would experience. As the author of this book, Erich Remarque, was
himself a soldier during WWI, he provides the audience with a credible idea of how this war would be
experienced through the eyes of an infantryman, fighting and living in horrid conditions within the
trenches of a WWI battlefield. Remarque takes an anti war stance, as he critiques the past ideas of
nationalism, patriotism, and the romanticism surrounding the ideas of warfare. During the early 20th
century, many different nations expressed the ideas of nationalism, fighting for the defense

Schizophrenic Patients
My aunt was diagnosed with schizophrenia when she was 15 years old and had gone untreated for
most of her adult life. She has always lived with my grandma and growing up, I remember seeing how
easily she became agitated with my grandma in seemingly normal problems and situations., I recall
hearing her talk to herself, and I remember how hard it was to explain concepts to her. Because of her
escalating symptoms, my grandma and my aunt decided to take the steps to seek treatment so that she
can become more independent. Through this, I have seen that there are tools to manage psychotic
symptoms and that schizophrenia does not have to define who a person is. Although there is no cure,
people with this condition can still have a fulfilling life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While no cure for schizophrenia exists yet, people dealing with this mental disorder have tools
available to help them deal with their individual symptoms. As I have witnessed through my aunt s
attempts at recovery, low doses of medication, therapy and support are key to being able to live an
independent and rich life. Unfortunately, about 3.2 million Americans today are living with
Schizophrenia, and roughly 40 percent of them are untreated. This is due to the fact that a lot of
schizophrenic people do not have consistent support systems. They need this because often times they
do not know when they are decompensating. Our society has come a long way in overcoming the
stigma of mental illness and understanding how schizophrenia affects individuals. It is my hope that
those who know a person dealing with schizophrenia educate themselves on this condition so that they
can assist the person with treatment. This should lower the number of those who go untreated, are
homeless, incarcerated and in crisis. Symptoms of schizophrenia can be managed and with the right
treatments, people can live fulfilling and productive

Nietzsche s Influence On American Philosophy
An indisputable influential figure within modern thought is German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche,
a polarizing thinker whose text Thus Spoke Zarathustra has garnered abundant acclaim for its
encapsulation of a shift within late nineteenth century Western thought. Nietzsche s personal history
significantly affected the development of his philosophy as exemplified through the rhetoric, literary
style and speeches found within Thus Spoke Zarathustra. This report will follow the origins of
Friedrich Nietzsche, the contextualization of his philosophical stances within his famed text, and the
profound influence of his literature in relation to late nineteenth century thought and beyond.
BACKGROUND
In 1844, Friedrich Nietzsche was born in a small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As we approach Nietzsche s philosophy within the text, we must first begin by adopting the principle
of the will to power as the fundamental drive of all things. The principle of the will to power states
that everything must obey something, and if one cannot obey oneself, one must obey someone else.
Those who can transcend and command themselves then, according to Nietzsche, are the sole carriers
of true freedom. The will to power for Nietzsche is not simply the desire for power or even something
that one could choose to have or not, but is rather a characteristic of everything that lives. Such is
observable through the human history of interaction but the will to power must not only be applied to
human beings since ideas like religion, morality, and truth are also prevailing concepts that are all
positioned in the alike struggle that dictates life. The question is not whether one should have the will
to power or not, but rather what quality of will to power shall manifest. A negation of absolutes, then,
is an observable theme throughout Thus Spoke Zarathustra, as Nietzsche depicts our world and all
within it as characterized by the constant struggling and overcoming of prearranged influences. As we
come to adopt this notion of our world and being in a perpetual flux, we interpret Nietzsche s

Our world has many components both physical and nonphysical that make it what it is, we have
certain powerful ideas like religion, which are very important and give us faith and some ethics and
other essential ideas, but religion itself isn t followed by everyone and in fact there are several
religions that don t connect at all. Unlike religion, laws and those who enforce them are universally
followed and for the most part, respected. We have rules and laws for huge crimes like murder or
terrorism and once those crimes are committed, these who commit them are often punished fairly but

Designing A New Type Of Internal Combustion Engine
Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
The intention of Rudolf Diesel to provide a new type of internal combustion engine operating with
higher efficiency than conventional steam and Otto cycle engines, and that could be operated on many
types of fuels. The engine cycle developed by diesel involves injection of fuel into a volume of air
heated by compression. Over the course of history, the durable and efficient diesel engine has replaced
other less efficient modes of power production, including steam engines in the railroad industry. A
diesel engine or compression ignition (C.I.) engine is an internal combustion engine that uses the heat
of compression to initiate ignition to burn the fuel, which is injected into the combustion chamber.

With any probable petrol crisis, for all the sectors the alternative fuel is vital to be developed. In
addition, pollutants have formed because of combustion of petroleum based fuels in diesel engines.
Pollutants from diesel engines include carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), sulphur
dioxides (SOx), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate matter (PM). NOx and PM are the two
primary pollutants of diesel engines. It was stated by Lloyd and Cackete, that Diesel emissions
contribute to the development of cancer; cardiovascular and respiratory health effects; pollution of air,
water, and soil; soiling; reductions in visibility; and global climate change. Research on reducing
emissions resulted from diesel engines and studies on decreased fuel consumption are being founded
worldwide, especially in EU countries. There are many works on reliable researching and
implementations and useful results came to exist. Research and developing alter native diesel engine
fuel is one of the aspects of these studies.
An alternative fuel for internal combustion (IC) engines is considered as a viable option because of the
pollution effect amount of petroleum products available. As an alternative fuel is biodegradable and
renewable fuel, biofuel is the most suited substitute for biodiesel. In developing countries the demand

How The Nervous System Affects The Human Brain
Neurons are the basic data processing units for the human brain. Every neuron can receive 1000
electrical impulses from other neurons. Impulses that all come at the same time are added together
and, if they are strong enough, they can generate electrical discharge, which is known as action
potential or a nerve impulse. Neurons have a cell body or soma. Additionally, they have myelin.
Myelin allows nerve impulses to move quickly from one neuron to another, which makes rapid signal
transmission possible. It is a critical part of the nervous system and if it is not in a body it can be
devastating, which can be exhibited through multiple sclerosis. The nervous system plays an important
role in the body s ability to feel sensations and is made up of neurons, cells, and are necessary to
perform even the simplest tasks. Your body has billions of tree like processes that are involved in
sensing this information from the environment, relaying the information to your brain, and sending
information to carry out the act of answering your cell phone as a response to the initial sensory input.
There are a multitude of neurons in our bodies that are continuously communicating with each other to
help us perform everyday tasks. These communications are a way for the neurons to transmit
information between one another. This information is generally related to the physical actions and
feelings which the body performs. Neurons allow us to feel pain and other sensations which would

region held are the Sumerians, Babylonians, and Assyrians. These three large civilizations are the
founders of these legacies. Some of these legacies are huge advancements in writing, mathematics,
and advancement in technologies. Even too modern daily we still see some form of these legacies. The
Sumerians, the first civilization of Mesopotamia, was the creator of the first written language. This

The start of these advancements goes along with their written language. Through their language of
Cuneiform, they have symbols for all sixty numbers in their base for math. The Sumerians based their
math off of 60, which is why there are only sixty numbers (Shuttleworth 2010). These used this math
for everything even astronomy and mathematic functions. This math allowed them to keep track of
larger amounts of things easier and even keep track of records for things like accounting. Even though
they did not have any numbers over sixty doesn t mean they couldn t track more. They showed
anything of sixty as sixty plus whatever else is left over. This base of sixty is not used for everything
that we do in our daily life. We still use the base of sixty for time mainly. We still have sixty seconds
in a minute and sixty minutes in an hour. Later throughout Mesopotamia the Babylonians eventually
started to base their numbers off of ten and they had symbols for single, tens, and hundreds. Even
though this was their main gift to us in our modern world these still have some more advancements in
mathematics. This math allowed them to use decimals and fractions. They were able to make a twelve
month calendar with this math. The Babylonians believed that there was 360 days in a year, which

Narrative Essay On The Titanic
While the car drives down on the cobblestone street toward the dock, I slowly sip the Pu er tea trying
to refrain myself from spitting it out onto Angeline s cerulean dress. I eye it with disdain, muttering to
myself of the many times I reminded her that jewel tones did not suit her skin tone. What happened to
the dresses that I picked out for you at Poiret s boutique yesterday? Blue makes your skin look washed
out, you know that Angeline, I scold. Accidentally ripped it, my sister replies, giving a dismissive
shrug and turns around. I glare at her back, wondering how she could only be a year younger than me
when she acted like a child. The Isotta Fraschini rolls to a stop, and I glance around taking in my
surroundings as our chauffeur helps me out. Other noblemen and debutantes step out from their
vehicles while the lower classes are giddy with the joy of having the chance to travel on such a grand
ship. Everywhere around me are people either embracing their loved ones to say farewell and shouting
bon voyage to their companion on the decks. The Titanic looms beyond the rails and I take in a breath.
It is truly magnificent, Father wasn t kidding when he said it was the ship of dreams. Being the
daughter of a powerful businessman, I, Josephine Roux, am well known in the fashion industry, while
Angeline took a taste to the makeup industry. As a result, Isoleta Star wanted to collaborate on a new

Zygote Vs Fetus
The first premise states that a fetus is an early stage in becoming a human. It all starts with conception.
When the sperm meets the egg, the combination is called a zygote. The zygote contains all of the
genetic information (DNA) needed to become a baby. Half the DNA comes from the mother s egg and
half from the father s sperm. The zygote then travels down the fallopian tube, in which, it forms a ball
of cells called a blastocyst. The blastocyst is composed of an inner group of cells with an outer shell.
The inner group of cells will become the embryo which is what will develop into a fetus. The fetus is
the stage of development up until birth. Of course, after birth you have an infant, then a toddler, then a
preschooler, then middle childhood, teenagers, and lastly adulthood. All of which came to be from a
mere zygote. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

woman on death row because the child is a separate human being (International Covenant on Civil and

Cavities Research Paper
If you have had frequent cavities for most of your life, then your biggest fear may be that bad oral
health is in your genes and your child will live a life filled with cavities, too. While no studies have
found that children can truly inherit cavities, there are ways that cavity prone parents can pass on their
bad oral health to their children. However, the great news is that by taking the right steps now, you can
prevent this from happening. Here are two important tips for keeping cavities to yourself and not
letting your oral health affect your child s.
Know How Cavity Bacteria is Passed So You Can Stop the Cycle
If your mother had frequent cavities as well as you, then it can be easy to suspect you just have
genetically bad teeth. Parents can pass on their cavity causing oral bacteria to their children, but it is
not their DNA that causes it. Most babies are born with a healthy oral microbiome that helps keep
cavities at bay. However, a parent can pass cavity causing bacteria and alter the bacterial makeup of a

Christianity s Domination Of The Roman Empire
Some may credit Christianity s domination of the Roman Empire to Constantine s Edict of Milan. This
edict was a continuation of the Edict of Galerius, which essentially stated that despite the disapproval
of the Roman government, Christians were allowed to continue worshipping, as long as they prayed
for the well being of the state and allowed the government some control of the magistrates (Knipfing
697). The Edict of Milan furthered this by granting both to Christians and to all men freedom of
choice in following such form of worship as they wish ( The Edict of Milan 1). However, due to
evangelistic practices already in place, the Edict of Galerius and the Edict of Milan was superfluous to
the rise and spread of Christianity. The Edicts of Galerius and Milan were decreed to stop persecution
of the Christians that had lasted since the movement began. Persecution of Christians had begun as
early as the Emperor Nero s rule. Persecution went on automatically, if sporadically...until the third
century (G. E. M. de Ste. Croix, Early Christians 15). Christians were persecuted simply for being
Christians. At the beginning of their movement, many pagan Romans believed all Christians were
incest and cannibals because of the secrecy of their rituals. Once the apologetic works of Augustine
and others were written to defend the Christian practices that were the source of these ideas, the only
claim against someone being a Christian was their questionable loyalty to the state.

Copernicus And The First Pioneers Of Science
With each new development in science comes conflict, mostly from those who don t believe that
science follows the teachings of their religion or allies with their beliefs in an almighty power or God.
Looking back in history at some of the great names in human scientific achievement, such as
Copernicus, Galileo, and Darwin, we see that with each genius discovery came some outcry from
religious groups. Nikolaus Copernicus was one of the first pioneers of science. Until 1540 science had
long been a servant of the Christian religion, but Copernicus brought about change, and with that
change came persecution. Copernicus work, although not immediately and widely accepted, lead
directly to the undermining of centuries of assumption and superstition. He was the first to state that
not only was the earth not the center of the universe, but it also orbited the sun. Later in history came
Galileo who brought Copernicus ideas to practical fruition. He was also on the receiving end of much
religious persecution, even to the point of living out his last years under house arrest, forbidden from
writing and publishing. Then in the 1800 s Charles Darwin researched and published revolutionary
biology books on the theory of evolution, his most widely known book being The Origin of Species .
Even today, long after his death, his works receive much religious debate; religion today is no more
apt at dealing with scientific theory than it was hundreds of years ago; this is because it is a

Utah Lake Speech
I am writing to you today to talk about the state of Utah Lake and how to clean it up. Utah Lake is the
only lake that is easy to access without going on an hour or longer car trip from Utah Valley. Because
of that we should try and make Utah Lake more tourist friendly and better looking. This would bring
more people there and make it a better experience to be there. In its current state Utah Lake isn t a
very attractive destination. Utah Lake got 134,000 visits in 2017 which is pretty high compared to
other parks in Utah but it isn t that much compared the more visited state parks. When most people
think of Utah they probably think of Southern Utah. You could have more tourists come to more
places in Utah other than Southern Utah by giving more natural options in Central and Northern Utah.
Utah lake is already a pretty nice place to go and fish but other than that there is not much else to do.
You could make it a nice place to go swimming which would bring a lot more people than just fishers.
The three main causes for Utah Lake not being an attractive place are its high phosphorus levels, the
lake being shallow, and the non native carp living there. All of these factors work together to make

the lake to stop the phosphorus from going up, and then adding or breeding more fish into the lake to

upset the balance. In conclusion the solutions are pretty easy to pull off so it you shouldn t need to put

Digital Technology And Social Media Essay
More recently than in years past, digital technology and social media have grown to become a part of
our everyday lives. The recent rise in those who own smartphones allows this everyday use of digital
technology and social networking to be easier than ever before. At any time and any place, we have
the ability to socialize with nearly anyone even celebrities who have no idea most of us even exist.
The continuous consumption of digital media has altered once personal face to face communication to
just that, digital. More and more people seem to be living in what Sonia Maasik and Jack Solomon
call The Cloud . The Cloud is a seemingly alternate universe of which communication is altered from
personal to digital. This universe has led to debates over whether or not these online communities are
real or whether social media is actually social. Various digital media sources also encourage users to
create individual identities, of which may or may not actually be real. It seems as though our reliance
on digital technology and social media have allowed the determination of certain aspects of our lives.
Although social media allows us to connect with nearly anyone at any time, Americans have taken
advantage of its use, and their attention has been drawn away from real life interactions to digital ones.
The ramifications of such influences reflect the hidden insecurities of Americans and, ironically,
emphasize our inclination to boast about ourselves by allowing others to see the

But before the amphitheatres there were inn yards. The Elizabethan Inn yards were a fore runner to
Elizabethan Theatres such as the Globe Theatre. Elizabethan Inns were always popular. Not only did
they provide alcohol but they also provided rooms and lodgings for the Elizabethan traveller. All of
these amphitheatres consisted of a large open space in which the audience would stand. This open
space was called the pit and was meant for those people who couldn t afford a proper seat within the
theatre itself, this would usually cost only one penny. These audience members were called the
understanders as they were not as educated and high class. Behind the understanders would be three
rings of galleries, one above the other, each nine or ten feet high, where the people were prepared to
pay a little more for a better seat and cushions. For the upper class there were special seats, or rooms
called the lords rooms which were positioned above the entrances of the stage. Even though the seats
were poor for watching the play itself they were mainly to show the others their privilege. The stage

Social And Economic Effects Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial revolution was a period between the eighteenth and ninteenth centuries, and the Old
agrarian economy became more industrialized and urban. Before this period of time, manufacturing
was often performed in homes and was handmade. These techniques developed over time turning into
factories, textile industry, and new technologies. The new industrialization effected the people in terms
of mass production and new technologies.
Mass production is a system of manufacturing in which machines rapidly product large amounts of a
product. This began in the textile industry and decreased the need for skilled workers, and unskilled
workers became increasingly important. When these machines were developed, wages declined and
costs of making goods declined as well, resulting in economic growth. There were many unskilled
workers who can operate these machines and so they were competing with each other and offering to

Romantic, Realist, And Modernist Period
Love, since the beginning of time, has had a place in every literature no matter the time period. The
world that we live in is complex and often times, love and reason do not exist interconnect, however,
literature acts as the glue in bringing these two elements together. Authors sometimes use the concept
of love as a subject for their work, rationally, and carefully using it as a tool in their writing. In this
essay, works by different authors during the Romantic, Realist, and Modernist period will be used to
exhibit some of the forms of love used in literature. Romanticism was a movement that formed out of
the need for authors to be able to freely, and completely, express their emotions and desires within
their writings. By definition, romance is a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love .
This period, or era, changed how we, as people, viewed love and self. During this time, there was an
emphasis placed on ideas that were centered on individualism, nature, and natural human emotion.
Nature, and natural beings, was seen as inspiration and invoked imagination, impulsiveness, freedom,
and excess while creating a movement that was open to the ordinary individual, even the social
outcast. Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre is a perfect example of Romanticism s influence within a work.
This work exemplifies the quest to achieve not only romantic love, but self love or growth while
experiencing natural human emotions. After being belittled for so long, the

Cardinal traits were rare and included traits that dominated a person, central traits were more general
and descriptive of the individual, secondary traits were situational and related to an individual s
attitude and preference (Srivastava, 2005, p. 231). According to Buchanan (2010), German born
psychologist Hans Eysenck devoted much of his career to both personality and intelligence research
with much of this time spent in British universities. According to Haggbloom (2002), Eysenck s
research was thoroughly respected with him being the most regularly cited psychologist in science
journals at the time of his passing. In 1947 Eysenck s first book outlined what Eysenck viewed as the
two central factors of personality; neuroticism and introversion/extraversion. Five years later Eysenck
added another factor; psychoticism (Buchanan, 2010, p. 73). According to Carnivez Allen (2005),
British born psychologist Raymond Cattell centred his studies on factor analysis. His work observed
him meticulously reduce Allport s list of traits to less than two hundred. Applying his factor analysis
knowledge, Cattell developed the 16PF questionnaire in 1949. Now in its fifth edition, it is still in
wide use to this day (Boyle, Matthews Saklofske, 2008). According to Tucker (2009), Cattell argued
that while Eysenck s three factor approach to personality was simpler, his own method was more
thorough.

In Eveline the main character, Eveline, lives a terrible life with a stern father, a miserable job, and a
dreary home. When she is given the opportunity to leave her awful life and start a new life with her
partner Frank, she rejects the offer and stays in Ireland. Immediately this presents the reader with an
apparent paradox. Why did Eveline stay? Wasn t her life terrible? It is not until the reader digs a little
deeper into Eveline does the paradox solve itself. Joyce uses various literary techniques to justify why
Eveline did not leave with Frank.
In order to solve the paradox of Eveline, Joyce uses sentence structure to show the importance of
various characters to Eveline. The father in Eveline is given a lengthy amount of the story and longer

Challenges Of Islamic Finance Industry
CHALLENGES TO ISLAMIC FINANCE INDUSTRY
Many authors agree that Islamic finance industry has a long way to become globally successful
industry. To achieve its potential for solid growth, Islamic finance must improve number of areas
including: improving regulatory supervision in the industry, adaptation of tax treatment to Islamic
banking products, establishing liquidity control, introducing risk management tools, supporting
standardization of financial products and others.
Prasad (2015) mentions necessity of protection of investments accounts, regulation in relation to
Islamic contracts and treatment of investments accounts and risk management. He also highlights
liquidity, as the critical issue. There is a lack of management instruments in central banks to manage
liquidity in Islamic banks. The Sukuk market is expected to continue to expand very rapidly, and its
development will give Islamic banks access to the high quality liquid assets needed to comply with
international liquidity standards. Tax regulation is needed in countries which have only regulations for
conventional finance system, because some of Islamic products can face double taxation from their
nature, especially investment income from Sukuks. There is also problem with multilayered
transactions, which can cause higher taxation. All these taxation aspects may put Islamic finance at a
disadvantage.
The recent global financial crisis highlighted the importance of policymakers in responding system

injuries, with the intention of returning them to the condition that they were before the injury, or as
closely as possible. Initially, when being introduced to physical therapy, there is an examination to
determine and evaluate a patient, and to determine what method of treatment should be followed to
assist in recovery and prevention of further injury. When a program has been designed, it is designed
specifically to treat that individual s injury or disability, as every injury and goal of an individual is
subjective. It is devised to treat and reduce pain if any. Therapeutic heat is frequently used to ease
muscle pain and aches because it may reduce muscle guarding and spasm, and aid tissue elasticity
(Hensley), then to create a safe and constructive way to exercise and educate the patient for treating
and preventing future injuries. While heat is used to reduce muscle pain, heat increases blood flow,
also aiding in healing many injuries, it should not be applied within 48 hours after injury (Sports

Historical And Textual Data Of The Mesopotamian Religion
The Mesopotamian religion has not a large amount of information uncovered. There are both
archaeological and textual data that has been found on religious beliefs of the early Sumerian
civilization survive. The typical temples were constructed of mud bricks and adorned with buttresses
and many small cones of different colors. On the inside there was a niche for the image of the deity
right in front of an offering table. The early sanctuaries were simple in their style but the later new
temples contained spacious courts, which were rooms for attendant priests and a ziggurat. There were
three types of textual materials that have been discovered: prayers, descriptions of the rituals
conducted by priests, and mythological literature. Prayers were always associated with specific rites to
be performed by the person offering the prayers or by a priest attached to the sanctuary. The prayers
would consist of invocations to the gods, requests for assistance, and expressions of gratitude for past
favors or for dangers averted. There was a rule, that the worshipers did not emphasize such spiritual or
moral topics as death, survival, and contact with the divine. The discovered mythological literature is
difficult for present day readers to understand and the extent to which such myths reflect early
religious beliefs is unknown. In its beginning, Mesopotamian religion expressed harmony between
humanity and the natural powers on which it depended on survival. The Sumerians have

Displacement Reactions And The Single Displacement Reaction
Introduction
There are two types of displacement reactions : One type is called the single displacement reaction,
the other is called the double displacement reaction. During a single displacement reaction, an element
substitutes another element in a compound, creating a new element and a new compound as products.
In most single displacement reactions, either a metal replaces another metal, or a non metal replaces
another non metal. The more reactive element takes the place of the less reactive element in the
compound, otherwise the reaction will not occur. The general chemical equations of single
displacement can be: A (metal) + BC → AC + B,
A (non metal) + BC → BA + C. Double displacement reaction is a chemical reaction, where the
positive ions of two different chemical compounds exchange and produce two new compounds. The
products may contain a precipitate. The general chemical equation of double displacement is: AB+ CD
→ AD + CB
The purpose of the lab is to observe the reactants and the products of three chemical reactions and
determine which type of reaction occurs in each chemical reaction.
The solubility tables can be used to help better determine the reaction types. The solubility tables refer
to the solubility of ionic compounds in water. By using the solubility tables, we can know whether a
compound is soluble or insoluble.

  • 2. The Court Of The Lawyer This court is now in session! The bailiff s gruff voice thunders across the room, commanding a respectful silence as the honorable judge takes his seat. The back pews scrape against the floor noisily as people hurry to claim their seats. The novice lawyer glares back nervously at the gallery before exchanging a hopeful look with his client, who is just as skittish. A cold sweat began pouring down the lawyer s neck as he faces down the prosecuting attorney, looking as confident as she was cold. As they lock eyes, the animosity is so thick a knife could cut through it. Eventually the trial begins, and both sides throw verbal cannonballs. As the court proceedings continue, the lawyer is inevitably asked to take the stand and make the final ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This competitive mentality introduces the startling correlation between mental health and the legal profession, and how the urge to be the best doesn t always end when the court is adjourned. Every day, lawyers have to juggle the immense burden of pressure placed on them by their colleagues, clients, and courtroom dramas; while this rather strenuous job does lend its way to alcoholism and other means of coping, there are more effective ways of dealing with it, like first admitting that you have a problem and finding someone who can help you. Alcoholism, a psychological disorder usually associated with alcohol addiction/abuse in general, is by far the most prevalent mental health issue in several high pressure careers across the country (Alcohol Abuse and Dependence, par. 1). Many well respected doctors, politicians, and athletes have confessed to being tempted by the appropriately titled demon in a bottle at some point in their careers. In many cases, it can be fought back with self regulation, outside intervention, and in the worse possible scenario, withdrawal. However, alcoholism factors much differently into the world of law, and in this case, different can be deadly. Success is held to a different standard for the lawyer. In order to truly be successful, an attorney must have the drive to give it their all, and put their heart and soul into every case. It s not just their salary that is ... • 3. Why Do Boys And Girls Be Raised Differently Cumulatively, those with multiple children would like to assume that they raise all their offspring the same. This, however, may be deemed as untrue as treatment and attitudes may vary depending on the sex of the child. The query of whether boys and girls are raised differently is a polar question and often varies chronologically. Little girls are princesses, their existence screams extravagance even before they are born. The moment one realizes that they are carrying a little girl until birth, the lengthy name choosing process begin. City of the Sun is considered one of the most important utopias having influenced Bacon s New Atlantis. Written by Tommaso Campanella and published by Daelli, Milano in 1863 it is influenced by Campanella s imprisonment during the Inquisition as a perfect world for people like him (McLean). Tommaso Campanella is considered one of the most important philosopher of the late Renaissance. He was condemned to heresy by denouncing the Spanish Inquisition, but was released and exiled. As his ideas began to spread, he became an inspiration behind a conspiracy to overthrow Spanish rule and was imprisoned again in 1598 . He escaped the death penalty by faking madness and was held for twenty seven years where he wrote many political works. Trinity s copy of City of the Sun is volume eleven and blindstamped with full leather bindings. It is numbered to about one hundred and eighty nine pages with roman type. It is in good condition with yellowed and spotted pages. Woodcuts of Tommaso Campanella and Tommaso More, now venerated as Saint Thomas, are featured. There are no table of contents or index but, there is a proof of provenance that states this work s owner was Raffaelo Itlodeo and a author s note that states that this book is a poetical dialogue (Campanella 27). The publication of City of the Sun is what led to the second imprisonment of Tommaso Campanella. The company was the fifth largest distiller in the United States. However, the company s success will largely due to the massive amounts of advertising expenditures on their premium brands. The company spent significantly less on low profit brands and as a result the whiskey market declined. Their response was to move into faster growing product lines to alcoholic beverages and this analysis considers a horizontal acquisition of the Southern Comfort brand. There are many advantages that can be gained through this acquisition. One is that the company developed a distinctive brand with loyal customers and a brand that is growing faster than competitors in the same niche. Plus, liqueur found in the Southern Comfort beverage does not need to age and can be produced and sold much faster than the traditional whiskey line. Thus the company could use advertising to drive sales with the capacity to increase production as needed. However, Brown Forman wants $94.6m for the company but the book value in 1977 was $16.7m. Riddled with disparate interpretations and theories, Antigone sparks acrimonious debate regarding a plethora of its details, such as characterization, theme, and undertone. Antigone, written by the Ancient Greek playwright Sophocles, recounts the events of Oedipus daughter, Antigone, following her brothers deaths. To illustrate, Antigone articulates to Ismene that Creon lacks the power to prohibit her from burying Polyneices (Prologue, line 35). Disregarding Creon s powers, Antigone extends both her immaturity and recklessness in amanner that both generates a hazy impression of Antigone s plausibility and discredits her personality because of the seldom conflict between the king and women in Ancient Greece. Furthermore, characters such as Eurydice and Jocasta, who experience much more tragedy, diverge from Antigone in the course of their reactions. While Jocasta and Eurydice grieve for their loved ones and succumb to the sorrow, Antigone s reaction exists at the opposite end of the spectrum where she acts with the sole intent to spite Creon. Continuing, Antigone dictates that she is not afraid of the danger; if it means death, / It will not be the worst of deaths death without honor (Prologue, lines 80 81). Recognizing her inevitable fate, Antigone makes little effort to alter her actions or consequences. Her proud acceptance of her death, which she claims to be one of honor, projects her arrogance and stubbornness toward her situation. This immediate compliance fails to reflect the true outlook and reaction toward approaching death both today and in her time. Additionally, the diatribe provided by Antigone to the chorus near her death sparks much criticism when she asserts that she prays Creon s punishment equals her own when the truth of her actions emerges (Scene 4, lines 67 69). The principle of the will to power states that everything must obey something, and if one cannot obey oneself, one must obey someone else. Those who can transcend and command themselves then, according to Nietzsche, are the sole carriers of true freedom. The will to power for Nietzsche is not simply the desire for power or even something that one could choose to have or not, but is rather a characteristic of everything that lives. • 20. How The Nervous System Affects The Human Brain Neurons are the basic data processing units for the human brain. Every neuron can receive 1000 electrical impulses from other neurons. Impulses that all come at the same time are added together and, if they are strong enough, they can generate electrical discharge, which is known as action potential or a nerve impulse. Neurons have a cell body or soma. Additionally, they have myelin. Myelin allows nerve impulses to move quickly from one neuron to another, which makes rapid signal transmission possible. It is a critical part of the nervous system and if it is not in a body it can be devastating, which can be exhibited through multiple sclerosis. The nervous system plays an important role in the body s ability to feel sensations and is made up of neurons, cells, and are necessary to perform even the simplest tasks. • 26. Christianity s Domination Of The Roman Empire Some may credit Christianity s domination of the Roman Empire to Constantine s Edict of Milan. This edict was a continuation of the Edict of Galerius, which essentially stated that despite the disapproval of the Roman government, Christians were allowed to continue worshipping, as long as they prayed for the well being of the state and allowed the government some control of the magistrates (Knipfing 697). The Edict of Milan furthered this by granting both to Christians and to all men freedom of choice in following such form of worship as they wish ( The Edict of Milan 1). However, due to evangelistic practices already in place, the Edict of Galerius and the Edict of Milan was superfluous to the rise and spread of Christianity. The Edicts of Galerius and Milan were decreed to stop persecution of the Christians that had lasted since the movement began. Persecution of Christians had begun as early as the Emperor Nero s rule. Persecution went on automatically, if sporadically...until the third century (G. E. M. de Ste. Croix, Early Christians 15). Christians were persecuted simply for being Christians. At the beginning of their movement, many pagan Romans believed all Christians were incest and cannibals because of the secrecy of their rituals. Once the apologetic works of Augustine and others were written to defend the Christian practices that were the source of these ideas, the only claim against someone being a Christian was their questionable loyalty to the state. ... Copernicus And The First Pioneers Of Science With each new development in science comes conflict, mostly from those who don t believe that science follows the teachings of their religion or allies with their beliefs in an almighty power or God. Looking back in history at some of the great names in human scientific achievement, such as Copernicus, Galileo, and Darwin, we see that with each genius discovery came some outcry from religious groups. Nikolaus Copernicus was one of the first pioneers of science. Until 1540 science had long been a servant of the Christian religion, but Copernicus brought about change, and with that change came persecution. Copernicus work, although not immediately and widely accepted, lead directly to the undermining of centuries of assumption and superstition. He was the first to state that not only was the earth not the center of the universe, but it also orbited the sun. Later in history came Galileo who brought Copernicus ideas to practical fruition. He was also on the receiving end of much religious persecution, even to the point of living out his last years under house arrest, forbidden from writing and publishing. Then in the 1800 s Charles Darwin researched and published revolutionary biology books on the theory of evolution, his most widely known book being The Origin of Species . Even today, long after his death, his works receive much religious debate; religion today is no more apt at dealing with scientific theory than it was hundreds of years ago; this is because it is a ... The world that we live in is complex and often times, love and reason do not exist interconnect, however, literature acts as the glue in bringing these two elements together. Authors sometimes use the concept of love as a subject for their work, rationally, and carefully using it as a tool in their writing. In this essay, works by different authors during the Romantic, Realist, and Modernist period will be used to exhibit some of the forms of love used in literature. Romanticism was a movement that formed out of the need for authors to be able to freely, and completely, express their emotions and desires within their writings. By definition, romance is a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love . This period, or era, changed how we, as people, viewed love and self. During this time, there was an emphasis placed on ideas that were centered on individualism, nature, and natural human emotion. Nature, and natural beings, was seen as inspiration and invoked imagination, impulsiveness, freedom, and excess while creating a movement that was open to the ordinary individual, even the social outcast. • 46. Displacement Reactions And The Single Displacement Reaction Introduction There are two types of displacement reactions : One type is called the single displacement reaction, the other is called the double displacement reaction. During a single displacement reaction, an element substitutes another element in a compound, creating a new element and a new compound as products. In most single displacement reactions, either a metal replaces another metal, or a non metal replaces another non metal. The more reactive element takes the place of the less reactive element in the compound, otherwise the reaction will not occur. The general chemical equations of single displacement can be: A (metal) + BC → AC + B, A (non metal) + BC → BA + C. Double displacement reaction is a chemical reaction, where the positive ions of two different chemical compounds exchange and produce two new compounds. The products may contain a precipitate. The general chemical equation of double displacement is: AB+ CD → AD + CB The purpose of the lab is to observe the reactants and the products of three chemical reactions and determine which type of reaction occurs in each chemical reaction. The solubility tables can be used to help better determine the reaction types. The solubility tables refer to the solubility of ionic compounds in water.
