Annotated Bibliography Of The Bibliography
1. At the end of Week 6, your annotated bibliography is due. What is an annotated bibliography? How
will the annotated bibliography help you as you write the research paper? Provide an example of one
entry from your annotated bibliography including the citation. An annotated bibliography is a record
of citations to books, editorials, and papers. Each citation is followed by a short summation, which are
about 150 words by and large, explanatory and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The intention of
the annotation is to enlighten the reader of the importance, exactness, and excellence of the sources
quoted. The annotated bibliography will assist me as I write my research paper is that it will make the
writing of the paper less of a struggle for that it will provide me some edification into making the
paper more efficient and fluid. Here s an entry from my annotated bibliography: Gershowitz, A. M.

Adam M. Gershowitz, a university lecturer of law at William Mary Law School, writes upon the
concept of clemency, chronicling eight court cases in which the governor of a state, whom holds the
power to grant or deny clemency to an individual. Gershowitz outlines these cases using two
classifications: 1) the governor parole board did not provide any reason for the quid pro quo; 2) the
governor depended heavily upon various reasons for the qui pro quo, only in which some of the

Native American Settlers Analysis
Long before the Europeans traveled to North America, the Native Americans were the first ones who
technically were the owners of Vermont. Some of these Native American tribes, including the Iroquois
(Mohawks) and Abenaki, inhabited Vermont while Samuel de Champlain arrived. Champlain was a
Frenchman who was also the first European to come into contact with the Natives in Vermont. In
1609, after exploring the land, he claimed it as French property and decided to war against the Natives
for the land. Champlain befriended Canadian tribes and although the language barrier prevented them
from communicating, they had a common goal: to push the Mohawks towards the northeast. In July of
1609, Champlain and his Algonquian allies met with the Mohawks

The Eight Different Types Of Anxiety
Anxiety, depression, and medications... These are all things we need to take into consideration when
thinking about everyday life. Anxiety has become a generalized factor of life and many people suffer
from it everyday. Yes, everyone knows what it s like to feel anxious but not like those with anxiety.
Different types of anxiety have different types symptoms and causes. Even though every anxiety is
different they are all controlled by one thing you.
(National Institute Mental Health) Anxiety comes in many forms you have many different anxieties.
There are exactly 8 different types of anxiety, those being general anxiety disorder, panic disorder,
phobia, posttraumatic stress disorder and finally, obsessive compulsive disorder. The most common
type of anxiety is Generalized Anxiety Disorder which is approximately 20 percent of the world s
population (G.A.D.). G.A.D. is not having any interest in everyday activities. According to the
national institute of mental health you are going to have constant worry or fear when experiencing
anxiety ( Anxiety Disorders ). Panic disorder which contains about 1.5 percent of the population is
when you have repeated panic attacks that s not caused by other illnesses. It can be triggered by
intense exercise or truly dangerous situations, they generally become even worse when you experience
a lot of stress at one time. You would generally use psychotherapy to treat this form of anxiety. Phobia

Trumps Wall
One of Presidents Trumps major campaign promises was to build a wall between the southern border
of the United States and the northern border of Mexico. Trump has repeatedly said that he would get
Mexico to pay for the construction of the wall. Mexico has repeatedly told President Trump they will
not pay for the wall. President Trump has announced that he will proceed first with American tax
dollars. Let us look at the proposed figures. President Trump initially estimated during the campaign
that the wall would cost $12 billion, but the figure has soared since then. A Department of Homeland
Security internal report in February estimated that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been proven that if you work a full time minimum wage job you will still live well below the
poverty level. Illegal immigrants often have more than one job to make up for this deficit, while still
paying taxes on those earned wages. If those low paying jobs were filled by American citizens we
could possibly see a decline in the economic welfare of a general segment of the population. President
Trump said in his campaign about illegal immigrants from Mexico that They re bringing drugs. They
re bringing crime. They re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. In fact, this is so far removed
from the truth. Many illegal immigrants are looking for better living conditions and to simply to work
for a living, most are good people . Trump seems to think that a wall can stop the flow of drugs and
guns across the border. The 700 miles of wall that is already in place have made it easier on cartels to

The Pros And Cons Of Ethnography
Ethnography is the systematic study of people and their cultures. It refers both to the process that is
used to study people as well as the outcome of this process. The term ethnography comes from the
Greek words ethnos (which means people or nation) and grapho (which means I write ).
Ethnography has been around for several decades, although it became highly popular in the late 19th
century. There have been several approaches to this study; Franz Boas, for example, preferred using
documents and informants to learn more about other cultures. However, many ethnographers
nowadays follow the approach of Bronislaw Malinowski, who believed that researchers should
immerse themselves in the life of the people they were studying. Malinowski embodied this belief by
going to Trobriand Island, living there for several years while he did his fieldwork, and even learning
the language of the local people.
At first glance, ethnography offers a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before he could begin studying a certain group of people, the ethnographer has to build rapport with
his subjects and make them comfortable around him. Of course, he has to spend months or even years
observing how they live on a daily basis and understanding their culture, norms, and traditions.
3. It depends on the ethnographer s relationship with his subjects.
Unlike most quantitative studies that can be done even with an impersonal relationship, ethnography
requires researchers to be in close contact with his subjects and have a good one on one relationship
with them. Building this relationship can be easy, but there are cases when the ethnographer would
have a difficult time creating rapport with his subjects. This is particularly true for tribes that have not
been in frequent contact with outsiders as well as groups of people don t take kindly to foreigners
living in their lands.

Operation Red Wings As A Multi Phase Joint Military Operation
Operation Red Wings was an operation that took place on June 27th, 2005 in northeastern Afghanistan
s Kunar province. The Afghan Parliamentary elections were scheduled for September of 2005, and
Red Wings was supposed to disrupt insurgent activity in the area. The operation, had it gone as
planned, would have helped bring stability to the region and facilitated successful elections later that
year. Red Wings was supposed to be a multi phase joint military operation. It was planned by the
Marines to be executed by SOF and Marines jointly. Due to bad planning, decision making and
resource management, the operation was a failure and never made it past the first phase. Phase one
consisted of inserting a four man SEAL team into the Pech ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

communications with their higher headquarters. That afternoon when they were observing, the team
heard footsteps and when they realized an unsuspecting group of goat and sheep herders had walked
up on their position, they took action. They immediately surrounded the three Afghans. The team
realized they had been compromised and discussed their options. They worried that if they let the men
go, they would alert Shah and his men of their location. They could not kill unarmed civilians because
ROE prohibited it. It is debated how the decision was made via vote or other means, but ultimately the
team ended up letting the men leave to walk back down the mountainside. Because they had been
spotted, the team immediately grabbed their gear and relocated to a previous location that they had
found unsuitable for observing the village. It had been several hours since the release of the three men.
They assumed the sheep herders did not give away their position until they began to hear footsteps to
the rear and flank of their position. The team estimated a group of approximately 80 men at first. Shah
had positioned his men above the SEALS and to the flank taking advantage of the team s poor
location on the side of Sawtalo Sar. His men also had reliable communications and the SEAL team

Current State of the Union; Analysis of a Political...
When describing the current state of the USA, very little positive language would be used. The more
standard response would be one including an overall negative, and debt describing language. As seen
in Barrack Obama s 2014 State of the Union Address, the president of our nation seemed to
completely disregard the actual state of the union by simply stating that, The state of the union is
sound . This short, vague, and contradicting statement seemed to be blow up the anemic progressions
our nation has made during Obamas presidency. It is safe to say that the description of a sound nation
did not make a connection with many Americans. It left people with more of a sense of confusion to
what the actual situation stands to be. That situation, the current state of our union, would more
appropriately be described as upsetting. Especially when being described by the current president of
over five years who promised to better our nation. Gary McCoy s drawing depicts the not so serious
response to Barack Obama s humorous statement to the current state of the union, and poses the
argument that his remarks no longer send a sense of promise and hope, but more of something to just
roll your eyes at. In the cartoon, President Barack Obama is presented in a stereotypical and degrading
way. He is drawn to have a very prominent round nose, and much emphasis is placed on his very large
ears . With this, he is also depicted with a tiny head, potentially hinting at a small brain. In

Implementation of SMT Concept in Intel Processor Essay
The main idea of this article is implementation of SMT concept in Intel processor which is based on
efficient use of limited amount of processor resources such that at OS and software level it is seems
just like multiple processors are running multiple processes. It is less costly and more efficient.
Sharing policy is also playing an important role in performance improvement. Background: In order to
improve processor performance following traditional approaches like higher clock speeds, instruction
level parallelism, and cache hierarchies were used. But now thread level parallelism is also taken into
consideration. Higher clock speed: Achieve by microarchitecture pipelining to finer granularities
known as superpipelining. Large number of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hyperthreading technology architecture: Hyperthreading technology makes a single physical
processor appear to be multiple logical processors at OS level. From a microarchitecture perspective,
it means that instructions will persist and execute simultaneously on shared execution resources. Die
size and complexity: Hyperthreading technology is resource efficient and deliver a large performance
improvement at minimal cost because it entails only a small increase in die size (is due to a second
architectural state, additional control logic, and replication of a few key processor resources) due to
limited replication of physical processor resources. Microarchitecture choices and tradeoffs: To share
resources, we chose among possible sharing schemes that included partition threshold full sharing
Partition: In a partitioned resource, each logical processor can use only half the entries. Resource
partitioning is simple and low complex. It works best for the major pipeline queues in the in order
pipeline. Threshold: Another way of sharing resources is to limit the maximum resource usage. This
scheme puts a threshold on the number of resource entries a logical processor can have. Full sharing:
The most flexible mechanism for resource sharing, do not limit the maximum

House On Mango Street Book Assignment
Book Assignment For this book assignment I decided to read the book The House on Mango Street by
Sandra Cisneros. Cisneros uses a series of vignettes to tell the story of Esperanza Cordero and a year
of her life on Mango Street. Esperanza is a 12 year old Mexican American girl, or Chicana, living in a
congested Latino neighborhood located in the more poorer area of Chicago. The story begins with
Esperanza s family moving to a new house on Mango street which she describes as an upgrade from
their previous house but it is still not the home her heart desires. Esperanza has big dreams of
eventually leaving Mango Street and owning her own real house with a big yard and multiple
washrooms, just like the ones she sees on television. Esperanza s journey into maturity and
development is described through these interestingly written vignettes. She begins writing poetry as a
way of expressing the events happening in her life such as developing friends, puberty and sprouting
hips, and even dealing with sexual assault. The first half of the book begins with Esperanza wanting to
continue to play in her little child bubble but is pushed into the world of adulthood when dealing with
the deaths of her grandfather and Aunt Lupe and when she is abruptly kissed by an older man while at
her first job. Esperanza also writes about her neighbors and happenings of the neighborhood to paint a
picture of the different paths in life that are available to her. She switches her interest to the older
women of the neighborhood who each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why I Hate Being Complacent Essay
I hate being complacent. I try to fight complacency in all aspects of my life from academics to my
sport of ultimate. Academically, complacency is the difference between putting in the time and effort
to study for a test and shrugging it off with a simple it ll be fine. Playing ultimate complacency looks
like not doing another set of dead lifts or accepting a poor decision as acceptable just because it
happened to result in a goal because it ll work itself out. One of my main goals for this school year is
to rid my life of these complacencies. And, honoring this commitment, I have been doing my work
more thoroughly and not just at the last minute and have been pushing myself to become faster and
smarter as an ultimate player. But even with this resolution to be better I am still complacent in those
aspects of my life and will continue to be imperfect as long as I continue to be human. But, as I have
learned throughout my time at Carleton, more specifically this term (and even more specifically the
second half of this term) I am complacent in the way I view justice in this country. There are powerful
forces that shape our criminal justice system that I have always vaguely known existed and have
always vaguely understood that they are inherently and systematically racist. And even hearing the
facts and numbers, my favorite things, on how racist our country is I chose to be indifferent. I knew
that one in three black men will be incarcerated during their life time while

One film which is predominantly about the skill side of poker is a film called The Cincinnati Kid . It is
about poker and the levels of talent involved in such game play. The story takes after a character Eric
Stoner. Stoner is refered to as the kid which contrast with the best player who is know as the man.
Stoner tries to beat the best player in town so he can be the man.The film is basically about his persuit
to be the best and demonstrates the passion and the strain between the challengers. For this reason I
feel the Cincinnati Kid shows skill for poker and what it takes to be a winner.

has wounded and killed many souls. It is on the battlefield we see the most hideous side of human
nature, for every soldier s only objective on the battlefield is to survive and win. Many people have
opposing views about wars which may have been developed over time based on many factors such as

of repetition in this quotation assisted in giving a sense of anticipation as well as creating a vivid
imagery of the bravery of the soldiers, and building up tension as they move forward into the valley of
Death.
Not only do Owen s and Tennyson s depictions of war differ immensely, their views on a soldier s
deaths hold opposing views as well. Owen describes the unsightly view of the soldier s death with a
variety of metaphors and similes while Tennyson portrays a soldier s death as a glorifying and
honourable event that would be perpetually celebrated. Owen s poem conveys the distress of
witnessing a soldier s death with tremendous details, And watch the white eyes writhing in his eyes,
His hanging face, like a devil s sick of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling
from the froth corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud Of vile, incurable sores on

imagery of the soldier s death by illustrating a strong mental image of the soldier squirming in
agonizing pain. The metaphors obscene as cancer and bitter as cud instinctively connects the dreadful

Harper Lee and Truman Capote, two of the greatest 20th century authors, were once prodigious best
friends. And best friends share everything; their thoughts, their dreams, but most importantly, their
ideas. So could it be possible that Capote, a prolific writer, could have played a role in writing Lee s
esteemed novel, To Kill a Mockingbird? Doubtful. Through comparisons of Lee s only work to Capote
s A Christmas Memory it can be seen that despite similarities, these friends works differ too greatly in
the way they set the tone, emphasize their themes, and utilize imagery for them to have worked
together on her novel.
The first area, where Capote and Lee vary, is their use of style to create tone. Due to two extremely

is no direct interpretation from the narrator leaving readers with only the characters dialogue to
ponder. The effect is a speechless tone. While one author interacts with the text as the author, setting
up each scene and action, the other only interacts as a character and this can be directly attributed to
which tense they write. So despite similar overlying tones and point of views, Capote and Lee diverge
immediately in style.
As most authors do, both Lee and Capote wound similar themes and subthemes throughout their
pieces, yet use completely different techniques to isolate these themes. In To Kill a Mockingbird, the
theme is stated multiple times, interpreted by every character, and then confirmed by the narrator.

between, the idea of prejudging a person is toiled with in every struggle and outburst. The theme, first
introduced in a simple conflict, is reemphasized at the very end, affirming the importance of never

government not doing enough at the start of the event. The unemployment rate was ridiculously high

Americans were unemployed. Race in the Great Depression was a rising issue. African American

An Age Old Tradition For The House Of Commons
Introduction
Westminster has an age old tradition for the use of division lobbies. The method of voting in the
lobbies for Members of both Houses has remained relatively untouched since its inception, after the
great fire of 1834 . The introduction of deferred divisions in 2004 was considered to be a reform too
far for many members. A more recent development has been the introduction of tablets to record the
votes of members. This change was initially brought about in the Lords. The change in the Commons
was rushed through by the proposals for double majority votes required under the EVEL legislation.

MPs are the only person out of a constituency of 70,000 or so people who are able to vote. The
significance of voting cannot be understated and as such a system that facilitates this must be robust.
There are a variety of different voting procedures in place around the world, additionally, there are
also different systems used within the UK.
Although the current system has been around for hundreds of years, and when Members are elected or
appointed they know how the system works, it is not without its user errors. A recent example of this
was when Angus McNeil MP hid in the toilet during a vote as he had used the toilet in the lobby, but

a few of the current problems and propose changes to improve the system such as making it easier for
members to vote, or to make it easier to find out how their representative has voted following a
division.

To the people of England, this act was one of the significant act as the Parliament had been collecting

they had to pay more tax which must be in the British currency. The act was passed by parliament on

Isabel Allene s Gold Rush In Daughter Of Fortune
When gold was discovered in 1848, a gold rush was created. James Marshall discovered it at Sutter s
Mill. People from around the world came to find gold for themselves and strike it rich. People left
their belongings and their families behind for a chance to find gold. Many people who came to
California did not find gold and lost most of their money. Before this California was relatively small
in population. Many towns in California that were small turned into boomtowns. Boomtowns were
cities which population grew exponentially. San Francisco had a population of 200 residents and then
grew to over 30,000 people during the gold rush. With all the people coming in, violence, gangs,
prostitution, and land destruction arose.

Beowulf As A Modern Hero Analysis
Whether ancient or modern, the distinctive characteristic of the heroic figure... Is willing to risk death.
(acculturated.com) Heroes are willing to face the fear of constant violent death and embrace fate to
have inner peace or exceptional value within themselves. The model hero in ancient times was the
type to kill and conquer just to be remembered whereas today, things have shimmered down. Beowulf
s effectiveness as a modern day hero has taught us something that will stick forever, loyalty, courage,
and bravery.
Beowulf show loyalty all throughout his poem and it shows that Beowulf did not just want fame, he
was after something else as well. One always says that there is always a reason why one does things
and there was a reason why Beowulf decided to face what he faced during his heroic journey. Beowulf
s only want is not only the want that he has for fame, but also the actions and responsibilities that he

Employee Benefit Package for Bostic Colleges Inc.
Employee Benefit Package for Bostic Colleges, Inc. Since its onset in 1966, Bostic Colleges, Inc. has
provided quality college education to non traditional students. This could not have been possible
without the dedication and hard work of high quality employees. It is with these individuals in mind
that Bostic Colleges has decided to revamp its benefit package. The company has thoroughly
researched what employees consider to be the most desirable benefits offered by employers and based
its new benefit package around this new information. The context of this paper will discuss desirable
employee benefits in the Atlanta market as well as the new proposed benefit plan for Bostic Colleges,
Inc., both mandated and voluntary. Desirable Employee Benefits Thirty one percent of employees are
at least marginally dissatisfied with their current employee benefits while twenty six percent are
completely unsatisfied (Fronstin, 2013). It is the hope of the company to offset these feelings of
dissatisfaction by uncovering what are the most desirable benefits available to employees. It has been
found that there is a blatant correlation between employees that are happy working for a company and
the success of said company (Stanger, 2013). Figure 1.1 displays benefits that employees find to be
the most successful. Figure 1.1 Benefits Most Desired by Employees Comprehensive health coverage

Washington s War Within A War Essay
Washington s war within a war
While it is true that wars are fought and won with weapons and selfless sacrifice, it is also true that
wars cannot be won on an empty stomach. Hunger can zap a solders moral, confidence, and he can
find himself lacking the energy to even aim his rifle. This is a real threat to any company, or to any
army. One might even say this could be a war within a war for the starving battalion that faced such
adversity. They would be faced with the loss of muscle tissue, the inability to fight, think, let alone to
defend a fort. Moral breaks down, some will desert, or commit mutiny as they lose faith in their
commanding officers. During war, food can be taken for granted, more faith is put on the weapon you
carry, the men you serve with. However, little thought is given to how truly important food and clean
water can be until you have none. When it is gone, it s all you can think of, thoughts drift to warm
meals, clean clothes, clear cool water. Then one s soul sinks into depression, the feeling of defeat, the
temptation to give up and surrender just for a taste of some food. This is just the war that General
George Washington and the continual army faced in the winter of 1777 1778 at Valley Forge.
General Washington was face with the loss of his Army, through extremely low moral brought on by
lack of food, and other necessary supplies. The reason for such a hardship during the war was a faulty
supply line. On the 23rd of December 1777, Washington wrote

Post Co op Reflection
A day after I completed my second cooperative at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center
(MassCEC), I immediately transitioned to a new position at a startup company called EnergySage. On
my first day at EnergySage, which is an online solar power marketplace that was created to help
consumers learn more about solar and make comparisons between pre screened solar installers and
their quotes, I realized how unique my experience was at MassCEC and how thankful I was for it.
Aside from the distinctive atmosphere of MassCEC, the quasi public agency treated their co op

I discovered I had a passion for pursuing a career in the clean energy industry and I wanted to delve
deeper into the various sub sectors to determine where I fit best, which led to the revision of my ninth
goal (see Appendix B) to include the goal of better understanding my desired role in the clean energy
industry and the necessary steps to achieve these ambitions. In addition, I wanted to enhance my
skillset which include interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and complete the
internship with a range of new skills. Through my position, I was fortunate enough to have many
professional development experiences, which led to networking, outreach and leading and organizing
meetings. Perhaps, the biggest lesson of all was how essential building your network will be to
achieving your goals. This led to revision of my seventh goal to include networking and outreach as
the desired skills I received. These two professional goals are reflective of what I hope to achieve in
the future and hence why I took on my current internship.
I truly enjoyed this past co op experience and felt that most aspects were enjoyable, rather than
difficult. What I enjoyed most was the freedom and the trust that was present between my team and I,
as my supervisors often gave me a lot of responsibility and praised me for how I handled it. Good

Summer In A Day Respect
Respect is important, right? Treating others with the same respect...it sounds accurate. Even though we
all have unique differences, everyone should be treated in the same way. In the story, All Summer in a
Day, written by Ray Bradbury, and the piece of art titled Pointing Fingers, the theme of be the kind of
person that you would want to meet, is presented. In our society, despite our differences, everyone
should be treated with the same appreciation. Without this, our world would be dreadful.
In the story, All Summer in a Day, the theme of be the kind of person you would want to meet, can be
shown through dialogue, actions, and thoughts from each character. The first way the theme is being
developed is when the author writes, That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quote, be the kind of person that you would want to meet, can be easily viewed here because of
the actions that the other kids took towards Margot. The second way that the story supports the theme
of be the kind of person that you would want to meet was as William and the others were intimidating
Margot. The author wrote, Get away! The boy gave her another push. What re you waiting for? Then,
for the first time, she turned and looked at him. And what she was waiting for was in her eyes. Well,
don t wait around here! cried the boy savagely: You won t see nothing! The theme is well written here
as the other children were mean to Margot. Treating others with the same respect is basically what the
theme of this is, however it was not addressed here. The students were disrespectful towards Margot
which can indicate the theme. Being the kind of person that you would want to meet, does not include
being a bully and impolite, as William s actions demonstrated. The last example from the text that
determines the theme is, They surged about her, caught her up and bore her, protesting, and then
pleading, and then crying, back into a tunnel, a room, a

The Visual Arts, Technology, And Philosophy
One may wonder how much did The Information Age really contribute to society and, more
specifically, the visual arts, technology, and philosophy. The Information Age, as defined by Gloria K.
Fiero, is dominated by radical changes in the technology of communication and the way we receive
and process information (Fiero, 476). The Information Age paved the way for several brilliant artists
to not only share their work, but create their work. Artists, such as Andy Warhol, expressed their
artistic abilities in the most unimaginable, yet creative approaches. In the case of Andy Warhol,
Warhol created pop art, which artistically expresses popular culture in means of creating a compelling

creation of the jumbotron, which now allows to host several events close up (Fiero, 493). Moreover,
total art is the work of art itself (Fiero, 492). Total art is far from being considered traditional art, yet it
is rather creative and gives insight as to how the product is secondary compared to the process of
creating art. Total art is expressed in the form of performance and ritual. Additionally, total art can
take several different forms such as raves, flash mobs, and basically any moment that an individual
would describe as art. Furthermore, Pop art is more of an extension of traditional art, yet the art is
expressed in a manner that grabs the attention of an individual witnessing the painting. Pop art seems
simplistic, however, pop art also seems to be loud and eye piercing. Andy Warhol, the artist behind the
creation of pop art, received the idea of pop art through his experiences as a commercial artist. Since
western consumerism seamlessly began to expand, Warhol gave advertisements more life and

A self directed workforce is where the employees manage themselves and can perform multiple tasks.
No need for a lot of middle management, because the employees will manage each other and
themselves. A company like PPG wanted to implement a self directed workforce because it saves them
money in the long run. The workers union in a non self directed workforce gave them headaches. The

If the supporters were really self motivated, then they would consistently ask to be taught something

Wizard Of Oz Hero Essay
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, shows a new generation that anyone can be a hero.
Most heroic stories before this time showcased men as the hero but The Wonderful Wizard of Oz gives
a new perspective of what a hero can be.
Through the feministic values in this story and the classic heroic characteristics, Dorothy shows how a
woman can be heroic. She shows her heroic characteristics by her kind heart, outspoken voice, and her
unwavering and courageous strength. Most heroic stories including The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
follow a similar pattern. Joseph Campbell constructed the book titled The Hero with a Thousand
Faces, to show the common patterns that are in may hero stories, and to show the basic stages that a
great deal of heros go through. Dorothy goes through several of the stages portrayed in The Hero with
a Thousand Faces. Dorothy s ordinary world, otherwise referred to as Kansas, is very gray and boring,
but when she to travels to Oz she finds that the world is bright, colorful, and exciting. From the
moment Dorothy lands in Oz she wants to go home, but like all heros she must first undergo many
challenges before she can return home. Through different supernatural aids, allies, and trials she
journeys to find a way home. Heros do not always have to be the biggest and strongest, they can just
be brave and caring. Dorothy shows her heroic characteristics in many different ways. First off,
Dorothy does not want to hurt anyone. When she realized that her

According to crisis (a 2015) there were around 7,581 people who slept rough at some point in London
alone during 2014/15, that s around 15 per cent increase on the previous year, and that s nearly double
the figure of 3,673 in 2009/10. The main problem is a lack of housing. The quantity of new houses
being constructed is not keeping up with demand, and the right to buy scheme which allows tenants to

The Guardian (2013) states that homelessness has increased for three straight years, partly because of
a housing shortage and multiple cuts to benefits, with roughly 185,000 people a year now affected in

The Chrysanthemums And The Story Of An Hour Analysis
The Chrysanthemums vs The Story of an Hour
John Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums, and Kate Chopin s , The Story of an Hour, both
exhibit a main theme of female isolationism due to being treated as a possession in marriage, as well
as the forbidden desires in life that were seized from both female protagonists. Beginning with the
opening sentence, Steinbeck conveys a somber tone through the description of the setting hanging
above the farm in The Chrysanthemums. The high grey flannel fog of winter closed off the Salinas
Valley from the sky and from all the rest of the world (Steinbeck, John uhhhh boneless pizza). As the
female protagonist in a historically accurate story in the late 1930s, Elisa is condemned to living in a
sort of confinement from the outside world, seeing as her husband would do all of the business on the
farm. She has something in common with the Salinas Valley, as she too is closed off from the sky and
from all the rest of the world under the cloak of her married name. Accompanying the isolation from
the outside world is a dismal depression, which can be transcribed as a high grey flannel fog or an
overcast sky to mimic the solemn feeling. Elisa s attempt to stave off this depression of not being able
to live her best life can be noticed as she gives her utmost attention to her flowers. Equally brilliant to
set the tone right off the bat, Chopin uses a literary technique known as Chekhov s gun and includes a
detail that the readers

Essay On Pertussis
1.0 Introduction
This paper discusses the condition pertussis with regard to its prevalence in Australia and the United
States. It also explores prevention methods currently recommended by leading organisations. Despite
a reduction of mortality linked to pertussis, it remains a health concern worldwide (WHO, 2010).
2.0 Definition of pertussis
Pertussis, also referred to as whooping cough, is a bacterial infection affecting the upper respiratory
tract (Pluta, Lynm, Glass, 2010). Caused by the Bordetella pertussis bacterium, this disease is most
commonly diagnosed in unvaccinated young children. The infection is characterised by a long lasting
wet cough, paroxysms of coughing, a whooping sound on inspiration (Pluta et al., 2010), and often
vomiting following the coughing (Bentley, Pinfield, Rouse, 2013). The bacteria are transmitted by
airborne droplets released when infected individuals sneeze or cough and, consequently, the infection
is highly contagious (Chivima, 2011). Pertussis has a 7 10 day incubation period and the disease can

By supplying vaccines, pharmacies make immunisation more convenient by providing a solution to a
significant barrier for immunisation, this being ease of access (Mills et al., 2014). In addition, they

The Underground Railroad Is Not Like The Railroad
The Underground Railroad is not like the railroads that we see today, they were not made of box cars
and rails. They were routes that the slaves took to get to freedom, these railways were built or used in
late 1786 to 1865. They went from as far west as Kansas, and Texas and as far south as Florida, they
all were made to go north to Canada, or to Mexico, or the Caribbean Islands where slavery is illegal.
This was an impossible task for the slaves to do on their own. There were many factors on how they
found their way and the people who helped them on their journey, which I will discuss later
throughout this paper. There over 3000 people who helped the runaway slaves to freedom. (The
Underground Railroad).
There are a few that stand out in history: Harriett Tubman, Levi and Catharine Coffin, William Still,
John and Jean Rankin, and Captain John Brown. Each of these people has great stories to tell about
their journeys and helping the black folk to freedom. Let s talk about a couple of these famous people
for a minute and how they got their names.
The Conductor or Station Master. These were the names given to these courageous people, who
helped the slaves to freedom and whom also had bounties on their heads for helping these folks to

Summary Of A Winter Tale Op 9
Josef Suk was a Czech composer and violinist. In 1894, Suk composed a piece of his works called A
Winter s Tale Op. 9, which was based on Shakespeare. In the beginning years of his career, he was
influenced by Antonin Dvorak, who was Suk s professor at a music academy called Prague
Conservatory. In 1898, Josef Suk ended up marrying Otilie Dvorak, who was the daughter of Antonin
Dvorak. Within the happy life they lived together, Otilie was impressed with her father s and husband
s works of music and she loved to play the piano, but sadly died at a young age. After the death of
Otilie, Suk went back to revise A Winter s Tale, which was later released to the public in May of 1999.
A Winter s Tale Op. 9, based on Shakespeare was written in 1894. This falls into the genre romance
and it has a dramatic structure. The storyline is about two lovers and how the music variations
symbolize their battles with being together. The overture starts with a slow introduction to the piece of
work. A clarinet is heard against a descending figure for muted violins. It reflects to the storyline,
which starts with an act of jealousy, due to the King of Sicilia suspecting that his wife is cheating on
him with one of his friends. The King of Sicilia s daughter was abandoned by her father s orders and
brought in a country village. Eventually, the intensity of the music grows by the movement of an

Vincent Presogna Prof. Joe Georges ECC POLI 1 4176 JG SP17 26 April 2017 Trumps Wall One of Presidents Trumps major campaign promises was to build a wall between the southern border of the United States and the northern border of Mexico. Trump has repeatedly said that he would get Mexico to pay for the construction of the wall. Mexico has repeatedly told President Trump they will not pay for the wall. It has been proven that if you work a full time minimum wage job you will still live well below the poverty level. Illegal immigrants often have more than one job to make up for this deficit, while still paying taxes on those earned wages. President Trump said in his campaign about illegal immigrants from Mexico that They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. In fact, this is so far removed from the truth. Many illegal immigrants are looking for better living conditions and to simply to work for a living, most are good people . Trump seems to think that a wall can stop the flow of drugs and guns across the border. The 700 miles of wall that is already in place have made it easier on cartels to establish control of the transportation of illicit goods. • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Ethnography Ethnography is the systematic study of people and their cultures. It refers both to the process that is used to study people as well as the outcome of this process. The term ethnography comes from the Greek words ethnos (which means people or nation) and grapho (which means I write ). Ethnography has been around for several decades, although it became highly popular in the late 19th century. There have been several approaches to this study; Franz Boas, for example, preferred using documents and informants to learn more about other cultures. However, many ethnographers nowadays follow the approach of Bronislaw Malinowski, who believed that researchers should immerse themselves in the life of the people they were studying. Malinowski embodied this belief by going to Trobriand Island, living there for several years while he did his fieldwork, and even learning the language of the local people. At first glance, ethnography offers a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before he could begin studying a certain group of people, the ethnographer has to build rapport with his subjects and make them comfortable around him. Of course, he has to spend months or even years observing how they live on a daily basis and understanding their culture, norms, and traditions. 3. It depends on the ethnographer s relationship with his subjects. The Afghan Parliamentary elections were scheduled for September of 2005, and Red Wings was supposed to disrupt insurgent activity in the area. The operation, had it gone as planned, would have helped bring stability to the region and facilitated successful elections later that year. Red Wings was supposed to be a multi phase joint military operation. It was planned by the Marines to be executed by SOF and Marines jointly. They continued to try and get communications with their higher headquarters. That afternoon when they were observing, the team heard footsteps and when they realized an unsuspecting group of goat and sheep herders had walked up on their position, they took action. They immediately surrounded the three Afghans. The team realized they had been compromised and discussed their options. They worried that if they let the men go, they would alert Shah and his men of their location. They could not kill unarmed civilians because ROE prohibited it. It is debated how the decision was made via vote or other means, but ultimately the team ended up letting the men leave to walk back down the mountainside. Because they had been spotted, the team immediately grabbed their gear and relocated to a previous location that they had found unsuitable for observing the village. It had been several hours since the release of the three men. • 8. Current State of the Union; Analysis of a Political... When describing the current state of the USA, very little positive language would be used. The more standard response would be one including an overall negative, and debt describing language. As seen in Barrack Obama s 2014 State of the Union Address, the president of our nation seemed to completely disregard the actual state of the union by simply stating that, The state of the union is sound . This short, vague, and contradicting statement seemed to be blow up the anemic progressions our nation has made during Obamas presidency. It is safe to say that the description of a sound nation did not make a connection with many Americans. It left people with more of a sense of confusion to what the actual situation stands to be. That situation, the current state of our union, would more appropriately be described as upsetting. Especially when being described by the current president of over five years who promised to better our nation. Gary McCoy s drawing depicts the not so serious response to Barack Obama s humorous statement to the current state of the union, and poses the argument that his remarks no longer send a sense of promise and hope, but more of something to just roll your eyes at. In the cartoon, President Barack Obama is presented in a stereotypical and degrading way. He is drawn to have a very prominent round nose, and much emphasis is placed on his very large ears . With this, he is also depicted with a tiny head, potentially hinting at a small brain. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Background: In order to improve processor performance following traditional approaches like higher clock speeds, instruction level parallelism, and cache hierarchies were used. Microarchitecture choices and tradeoffs: To share resources, we chose among possible sharing schemes that included partition threshold full sharing Partition: In a partitioned resource, each logical processor can use only half the entries. • 10. House On Mango Street Book Assignment Book Assignment For this book assignment I decided to read the book The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. Cisneros uses a series of vignettes to tell the story of Esperanza Cordero and a year of her life on Mango Street. Esperanza is a 12 year old Mexican American girl, or Chicana, living in a congested Latino neighborhood located in the more poorer area of Chicago. The story begins with Esperanza s family moving to a new house on Mango street which she describes as an upgrade from their previous house but it is still not the home her heart desires. Esperanza has big dreams of eventually leaving Mango Street and owning her own real house with a big yard and multiple washrooms, just like the ones she sees on television. Esperanza s journey into maturity and development is described through these interestingly written vignettes. She begins writing poetry as a way of expressing the events happening in her life such as developing friends, puberty and sprouting hips, and even dealing with sexual assault. The first half of the book begins with Esperanza wanting to continue to play in her little child bubble but is pushed into the world of adulthood when dealing with the deaths of her grandfather and Aunt Lupe and when she is abruptly kissed by an older man while at her first job. Esperanza also writes about her neighbors and happenings of the neighborhood to paint a picture of the different paths in life that are available to her. She switches her interest to the older women of the neighborhood who each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 11. Why I Hate Being Complacent Essay I hate being complacent. I try to fight complacency in all aspects of my life from academics to my sport of ultimate. Academically, complacency is the difference between putting in the time and effort to study for a test and shrugging it off with a simple it ll be fine. Playing ultimate complacency looks like not doing another set of dead lifts or accepting a poor decision as acceptable just because it happened to result in a goal because it ll work itself out. One of my main goals for this school year is to rid my life of these complacencies. And, honoring this commitment, I have been doing my work more thoroughly and not just at the last minute and have been pushing myself to become faster and smarter as an ultimate player. But even with this resolution to be better I am still complacent in those aspects of my life and will continue to be imperfect as long as I continue to be human. But, as I have learned throughout my time at Carleton, more specifically this term (and even more specifically the second half of this term) I am complacent in the way I view justice in this country. There are powerful forces that shape our criminal justice system that I have always vaguely known existed and have always vaguely understood that they are inherently and systematically racist. And even hearing the facts and numbers, my favorite things, on how racist our country is I chose to be indifferent. And best friends share everything; their thoughts, their dreams, but most importantly, their ideas. So could it be possible that Capote, a prolific writer, could have played a role in writing Lee s esteemed novel, To Kill a Mockingbird? Doubtful. Through comparisons of Lee s only work to Capote s A Christmas Memory it can be seen that despite similarities, these friends works differ too greatly in the way they set the tone, emphasize their themes, and utilize imagery for them to have worked together on her novel. Washington s War Within A War Essay Washington s war within a war While it is true that wars are fought and won with weapons and selfless sacrifice, it is also true that wars cannot be won on an empty stomach. Hunger can zap a solders moral, confidence, and he can find himself lacking the energy to even aim his rifle. This is a real threat to any company, or to any army. One might even say this could be a war within a war for the starving battalion that faced such adversity. They would be faced with the loss of muscle tissue, the inability to fight, think, let alone to defend a fort. Moral breaks down, some will desert, or commit mutiny as they lose faith in their commanding officers. The Information Age, as defined by Gloria K. Fiero, is dominated by radical changes in the technology of communication and the way we receive and process information (Fiero, 476). The Information Age paved the way for several brilliant artists to not only share their work, but create their work. Artists, such as Andy Warhol, expressed their artistic abilities in the most unimaginable, yet creative approaches. In the case of Andy Warhol, Warhol created pop art, which artistically expresses popular culture in means of creating a compelling commercial advertisement. Furthermore, in the realm of ... Total art is far from being considered traditional art, yet it is rather creative and gives insight as to how the product is secondary compared to the process of creating art. Total art is expressed in the form of performance and ritual. Additionally, total art can take several different forms such as raves, flash mobs, and basically any moment that an individual would describe as art. Furthermore, Pop art is more of an extension of traditional art, yet the art is expressed in a manner that grabs the attention of an individual witnessing the painting. Pop art seems simplistic, however, pop art also seems to be loud and eye piercing. Andy Warhol, the artist behind the creation of pop art, received the idea of pop art through his experiences as a commercial artist. Most heroic stories before this time showcased men as the hero but The Wonderful Wizard of Oz gives a new perspective of what a hero can be. Through the feministic values in this story and the classic heroic characteristics, Dorothy shows how a woman can be heroic. She shows her heroic characteristics by her kind heart, outspoken voice, and her unwavering and courageous strength. Most heroic stories including The Wonderful Wizard of Oz follow a similar pattern. Joseph Campbell constructed the book titled The Hero with a Thousand Faces, to show the common patterns that are in may hero stories, and to show the basic stages that a great deal of heros go through. Dorothy goes through several of the stages portrayed in The Hero with a Thousand Faces. Dorothy s ordinary world, otherwise referred to as Kansas, is very gray and boring, but when she to travels to Oz she finds that the world is bright, colorful, and exciting. From the moment Dorothy lands in Oz she wants to go home, but like all heros she must first undergo many challenges before she can return home. Through different supernatural aids, allies, and trials she journeys to find a way home. Heros do not always have to be the biggest and strongest, they can just be brave and caring. Parker was known for her wit in times of turmoil, such as her lifelong struggle with depression. • 36. The Chrysanthemums And The Story Of An Hour Analysis The Chrysanthemums vs The Story of an Hour John Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums, and Kate Chopin s , The Story of an Hour, both exhibit a main theme of female isolationism due to being treated as a possession in marriage, as well as the forbidden desires in life that were seized from both female protagonists. Beginning with the opening sentence, Steinbeck conveys a somber tone through the description of the setting hanging above the farm in The Chrysanthemums. The high grey flannel fog of winter closed off the Salinas Valley from the sky and from all the rest of the world (Steinbeck, John uhhhh boneless pizza). As the female protagonist in a historically accurate story in the late 1930s, Elisa is condemned to living in a sort of confinement from the outside world, seeing as her husband would do all of the business on the farm. She has something in common with the Salinas Valley, as she too is closed off from the sky and from all the rest of the world under the cloak of her married name. Accompanying the isolation from the outside world is a dismal depression, which can be transcribed as a high grey flannel fog or an overcast sky to mimic the solemn feeling. Elisa s attempt to stave off this depression of not being able to live her best life can be noticed as she gives her utmost attention to her flowers. Equally brilliant to set the tone right off the bat, Chopin uses a literary technique known as Chekhov s gun and includes a detail that the readers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It also explores prevention methods currently recommended by leading organisations. Despite a reduction of mortality linked to pertussis, it remains a health concern worldwide (WHO, 2010). 2.0 Definition of pertussis Pertussis, also referred to as whooping cough, is a bacterial infection affecting the upper respiratory tract (Pluta, Lynm, Glass, 2010). • 39. The Underground Railroad Is Not Like The Railroad The Underground Railroad is not like the railroads that we see today, they were not made of box cars and rails. They were routes that the slaves took to get to freedom, these railways were built or used in late 1786 to 1865. They went from as far west as Kansas, and Texas and as far south as Florida, they all were made to go north to Canada, or to Mexico, or the Caribbean Islands where slavery is illegal. This was an impossible task for the slaves to do on their own. There were many factors on how they found their way and the people who helped them on their journey, which I will discuss later throughout this paper. There over 3000 people who helped the runaway slaves to freedom. (The Underground Railroad). There are a few that stand out in history: Harriett Tubman, Levi and Catharine Coffin, William Still, John and Jean Rankin, and Captain John Brown. Each of these people has great stories to tell about their journeys and helping the black folk to freedom. Let s talk about a couple of these famous people for a minute and how they got their names. The Conductor or Station Master. These were the names given to these courageous people, who helped the slaves to freedom and whom also had bounties on their heads for helping these folks to freedom. • 40. Summary Of A Winter Tale Op 9 Josef Suk was a Czech composer and violinist. In 1894, Suk composed a piece of his works called A Winter s Tale Op. 9, which was based on Shakespeare. In the beginning years of his career, he was influenced by Antonin Dvorak, who was Suk s professor at a music academy called Prague Conservatory. In 1898, Josef Suk ended up marrying Otilie Dvorak, who was the daughter of Antonin Dvorak. Within the happy life they lived together, Otilie was impressed with her father s and husband s works of music and she loved to play the piano, but sadly died at a young age. After the death of Otilie, Suk went back to revise A Winter s Tale, which was later released to the public in May of 1999. A Winter s Tale Op. 9, based on Shakespeare was written in 1894. This falls into the genre romance and it has a dramatic structure. The storyline is about two lovers and how the music variations symbolize their battles with being together. The overture starts with a slow introduction to the piece of work. A clarinet is heard against a descending figure for muted violins. It reflects to the storyline, which starts with an act of jealousy, due to the King of Sicilia suspecting that his wife is cheating on him with one of his friends. The King of Sicilia s daughter was abandoned by her father s orders and brought in a country village.
