he narrator brings
to us the multidi-
mensional and ver-
satile aspects of PM
Modi’s personalit
y.
From being a com-
passionate
caretak-
er of the karyakar-
tas, to being a talented photogra-
pher and a dynamic leader, PM
ModiindeedisthegreatestPrime
Minister India has ever had!
An acquainta
nce of mine was
unwell and was about to undergo
a kidney transplan
t. He was an
employee
with a company
but
his salary wasn’t enough to fund
for his transplant. We then tried
to find out what help we could
have received from the PM and
CM Relief fund. We approache
d
Narendrabhai who was the CM
at that time and also informed
him that we had approache
d the
PM. It was Dussehra
that day
and shastra pooja was being con-
ducted at CM’s residence.
Media
was also present on the occasion
and as a photograp
her, I was pre-
sent at that event that day
.
As I found an opportuni
ty, I
tried to convey my message to
the CM that there is a needy per-
son here who cannot afford a
kidney transplan
t and that he
needs the CM’s help at the earli-
est. Although the patient did not
fall into the bracket of benefi-
ciariesfortheparticular
scheme,
yet we request the CM to make
this happen somehow to save his
life. Here I would like to bring
out the compassio
nate side of
Modiji. Immediately, he called
for his Secretary and said that he
wants the file on his table the
next day. Narendra
bhai sanc-
tioned the grant for the person’s
treatment
. A fund of Rs 175000
was released from the CM Relief
Fund towards
my acquaint-
ance’s kidney transplant.
The day Modiji signed the file,
I received a call from him and he
said to me in Gujarati “What you
had requested
for has been sanc-
tioned. If you need anything else,
let me know. The operation
is go-
ing on right now at Nadiad Kid-
ney Institute. So don’t worry!”
In fact the very first time I
mentioned
about my problem to
him, he spoke with somebody
at
Nadiad Kidney Institute and told
the relevant departmen
t to fix up
a date for the transplant
and
to commence with the pro-
cedures. Later on, the pa-
tient, who is a relative asked
me “Brother,
who did you
ask to call for my help after
all? The hospital got a call
from the CM office, my file
was moved immediate
ly and
I got a date for the opera-
tion.” I wish to bring to the
readers the truth about the
deep bonds PM Modi shares
with his karyakart
as. He
worries about them, lends an
ear to those in a crisis and
ensures their well-being
.
Not just this, Narendra
bhai is a multifaceted per-
sonality. He has a knack for
photograp
hy and he would
tell me that he is passionate
about it. He used to recall his
yatra to Kailash Mansarovar and
how in those days when such
high-tech
cameras
were not
available,
he still possessed
an
extraordin
ary collection
of pic-
tures clicked by him during his
trip. And, when I saw the photo-
graphs clicked by Narendra bhai,
they were simply mind blowing.
They were worth putting up in
an exhibition
! Not just this, he
also possessed
an eye for good
photograp
hy and appreciate
d
the nicely clicked pictures
printed in the newspapers.
Once in the month of
saawan, I clicked a picture of
the Brahmins
, pujaris and
sadhus worshipin
g the shiv-
ling with all the gods and
goddesses
and I captured it
in a frame outlined by a
rudrakshmala.Itwasafront
page photo. Narendra
bhai
was due to fly to America the
next day in the morning. But
he still called me up early in
the morning at 7 o’clock and
said “Congratu
lations! You
are a good photograp
her. It
is a wonderful
photograp
h.”
So this is how Narendra
bhai would encourage
tal-
ent and good work. It is in
his nature to appreciate
people
and inspire them to rise higher.
Another event I remember
is
vividly is when Narendra
bhai
reached Surendran
agar in Guja-
rat late in the night. Vijayabha
i
Rupani was the General Secre-
tary then. Surendran
agar was
undergoin
g severe water crisis
and Narendra
bhai said that eve-
ry time he would visit the state
when he was the pracharak
, peo-
ple would ask how many days he
would be staying there because
water was a major problem in the
town. People had to literally fetch
waterfromnearbyplacesinbuck-
ets and cans on a weekly basis. So
if he would say that he is going to
stay for three or four days, people
wouldmakearrangementsforad-
equate water for that much time.
Narendrabhaiwasfullyawareof
this grave problem and he prom-
ised that this problem would be
addressed
onaprioritybasis.The
first step he took after assuming
the position of the CM was to
havenewpumpingstationssetup

canal. In a bid to solve this prob-
lem,NarendrabhailaunchedaRs
320 crore pipeline project and to-
day there is no drinking water
problem for the residents
of
Surendran
agar.
Thus, being a true leader, he
never forgot his experienc
es at
the grassroots level. The issues
and difficulties of people that he
came across during his pracha-
rak days remained
etched in his
memory
. And during his CM ten-
ure,heensuredthatheaddressed
each and every problem he knew
existed at the ground level. Nar-
endra bhai’s approach as a lead-
er is to treat even the smallest
problems
with immediac
y and
sort out issues bothering
the peo-
ple at lightning speed.

New Delhi: SpiceJet
will operate a maxi-
mumof 50percentof its
flights, which were ap-
proved for the summer
schedule 2022, for a pe-
riod of eight weeks, avi-
ation regulator DGCA
on Wednesday ordered.
DGCA had on July 6
issued a show-cause
notice to the airline,
stating that “poor in-
ternal safety over-
sight” and “inadequate
maintenance actions”
have resulted in degra-
dation of safety mar-
gins. Just three days
after issuing the notice,
the regulator started
conducting spot checks
on SpiceJet planes. The
spot checks were com-
pleted on July 13.
Minister of state for
civil aviation VK Singh
recently told RS, DGCA
conducted 53 checks on
48 SpiceJet aircraft be-
tween July 9 and July 13
and it did not find any
major safety violations.

NO IMPACT ON OUR
FLIGHT OPS: SpiceJet
AS DGCA HALVES CAP
We want to reassure our passengers and
travel partners that our flights will oper-
ate as per schedule in the coming days and
weeks. There will be will be ‘absolutely no
impact’ on the flight operations as a conse-
quence of this order, said a SpiceJet source.
The airlines also said that DGCA’s observation
that SpiceJet is taking measures for arresting
the trend of incidents is very encouraging
and we will continue to work under the close
guidance of the regulator and adhere to their
regulations and norms.
SpiceJet airlines had reported at
least 8 technical malfunction
incidents in 18 days recently
A WARNING!
The cash-strapped airline
will be allowed to scale up
operations only after proving
that it has “sufficient, technical
support and financial resource
to safely and efficiently un-
dertake such enhanced
capacity.”
The DGCA
had on July 19
started a
2-month-long special
audit of all Indian
carriers after its spot
checks earlier this month
found that insufficient
and unqualified
engineering personnel are
certifying carriers’ planes
before their departure.

Mumbai: Maharashtra
Chief Minister Eknath
Shinde’s plan to fly
down to New Delhi
Wednesday evening
was cancelled at the last
moment on a day his
two-man council of
ministers (comprising
him and deputy CM De-
vendra Fadnavis) sanc-
tioned a slew of high-
cost proposals for farm-
ers, irrigation and
power projects that
would be difficult to
fund without support
from the Union Govern-
ment.
Efforts to seek infor-
mation from the CMO
regarding the sudden
cancellation of Shin-
de’s trip to New Delhi
did not elicit a response
till the time of going to
press.
“CM Shinde’s meet-
ing with Union Home
Minister Amit Shah
would have undoubted-
ly included discussions
on the pending expan-
sion of the cabinet of
ministers in Maharash-
tra, over challenges of
accommodating all as-
pirants particularly the
independent MLAs.
However, the main
course of discussions
are expected to dwell
around the huge fund-
ing that Shinde’s gov-
ernment will require in
the coming days from
the Union Govern-
ment to execute
the big ticket pro-
jects being
launched left,
right and centre,” ac-
cording to a source
close to the develop-
ment.
The Shinde led and
BJP backed govern-
ment today, for in-
stance, announced an
in-
centive scheme for
farmers that could pos-
sibly benefit 13.85 lakh
farmers, who regularly
cleared their outstand-
ing crop loans for any
two of the last four fis-
cal years (between
2017-2018 and 2020-2021)
as per the govern-
ment’s estimation.
Each such eligible agri-
culturist stands to gain
a maximum of Rs
50,000 as incentive from
the government which
would need Central
Government funding
to make this possible.
A Rs 20,000 crore re-
furbishment of Mum-
bai city’s local rail net-
work making it fully
air-conditioned is also
proposed by 2023.
Similarly, Wednes-
day’s cabinet meeting
also cleared two pro-
posals of around
Rs 40,000 crore in
infrastructure
bolstering for the state’s
Power Distribution
Company and a further
Rs 3,461 crore for the
Brihanmumbai Elec-
tricity Supply and
Transport (BEST) un-
dertaking.
According to the
source, the Shah meet-
ing, which deputy CM
Devendra Fadnavis
was not scheduled to at-
tend, was primarily an
outreach to the Centre
by the Maharashtra
CM seeking specific
guidelines and infor-
mation on how the mas-
sive funding for infra-
structure projects set
to unveiled in a blitz-
krieg format would be
undertaken through
the assistance of New
Delhi. “Of course, the
pending cabinet expan-
sion would also have
been discussed at the
meeting but, as we
know there is a major
discontent brewing
among the Shinde led
faction of MLAs (in-
cluding 40 rebel Shiv
Sena and 10 independ-
ent MLAs). The BJP
experiences no such
turbulence despite hav-
ing a 115 strong MLAs
grouping (including 9
independents) as it is a
structured political
formation with strict
disciplinary function-
ing.”

Mumbai trains to get `20K cr upgrade?
Renni Abraham
Mumbai: Mumbai’s
local train network,
which caters to more
than 60 lakh commut-
ers daily, will be
spruced up and trans-
formed into a fully air-
conditioned avatar by
the end of 2023, at a
cost of Rs20,000 crore.
“The BJP govern-
ment at the Centre is
focused on ensuring
passenger conveni-
ence at no additional
cost. The current may-
hem and overcrowding
of local train networks
on all three (Western,
Central and Harbour)
lines begets the need
for more dignity in
travel, especially for
women commuters
who have been travel-
ling like sardines in a
can due to the huge
population growth in
Mumbai city,” Zonal
Railway Users’ Con-
sultative Committee
(ZRUCC) member Ma-
hendra Jain told First
India.
Jain, who is also co-
convenor of the Maha-
rashtra BJP Vyapari
Cell, added that the
last effort to ensure
the safety of passen-
gers was launched a
few years back when
Bombardier locomo-
tives were introduced
in the Mumbai sector.
“It came to our no-
tice then that the dis-
tance between the plat-
forms and the foot-
board of these new-age
locomotives evidenced
a huge gap, and work
on aligning the plat-
form suitably (incre-
mentally) high was ac-
complished due to
ZRUCC’s efforts while
keeping the urgency
of passenger safety in
mind. We were able to
introduce 181 ambu-
lances, set up out-pa-
tient departments
(OPDs) and ensure
special trains between
Daund and Pune,” he
said.
Alongside air-condi-
tioned comfort for pas-
sengers at no addition-
al cost, Union Rail-
ways Minister Ashwi-
ni Kumar is also seek-
ing to improve the ef-
ficiency and frequency
of local trains. Also
planned is making
15-coach trains man-
datory in Mumbai--as
opposed to the current
mix of 12-coach and
15-coach trains--for en-
hanced passenger ca-
pacities.
The BJP is set to
publicly announce the
Mumbai locals refur-
bishment plans with
an eye on the forth-
coming BMC elections,
where it intends to ag-
gressively try and dis-
lodge the Shiv Sena
from power.

the officials said.
The GRP then de-

DISSENTING
ED QUESTIONS SONIA GANDHI
PIL filed in HC over
rechristening of
Aurangabad city
First India Bureau
Mumbai: A public in-
terest litigation (PIL)
was filed on Wednes-
day in the Bombay
High Court challeng-
ing the Maharashtra
government’s deci-
sion to change the
name of Aurangabad
to Sambhajinagar.
The petition filed by
Mohammed Mushtaq
Ahmed, Annasaheb
Khandare and Rajesh
More, all residents of
Aurangabad, is likely to
be heard by the court on
August 01.
Notably, the previous
Maha Vikas Aghadi
(MVA) government un-
der Uddhav Thackeray
had decided to rename
the city as Sambhajina-
gar in its last cabinet
meeting on June 29 this
year.
The new government
led by Chief Minister
Eknath Shinde earlier
this month passed a
fresh proposal that will
see Marathwada’s big-
gest city being called
Chhatrapati Sambhaji-
nagar.
The petition claimed
that in 2001, the state
government made an
attempt to change the
name of Aurangabad
city but it was aborted.
However, the previ-
ous government led by
former Chief Minister
Uddhav Thackeray
raised the issue of
changing the name of
Aurangabad in the last
cabinet meeting for
“political considera-
tions”, claimed the
plea.
The present govern-
ment led by Chief Min-
ister Eknath Shinde re-
affirmed the decision
without taking into
consideration public
sentiments and in com-
plete disregard to provi-
sions of the Constitu-
tion, it further stated.
The city of Aurang-
abad is part of history
and has a rich culture,
and political parties
like the Shiv Sena have
been trying to change
the name to gain politi-
cal mileage, it added.
Residents oppose
move, term it an
‘attempt to gain
political mileage
through hatred’
THE NAMING
CONUNDRUM
The purpose behind changing the name
of Aurangabad is to spread hatred
among the community towards Muslims
so as to gain political advantage.

Mumbai (PTI): Chief
Minister Eknath Shin-

greeted his predeces-
sor Uddhav Thacker-
ay on the latter’s 62nd
birthday. However,
Shinde’s greeting con-
spicuously refrained
from referring to
Thackeray as the Shiv
Sena president.
On Wednesday, Shin-
de tweeted: “Greetings
to former chief minis-
ter Uddhav Thackeray
on his birthday. I pray
for his healthy and long
life.”
Last month, Shinde,
along with 39 other Shiv
Sena MLAs and 10 inde-
pendents, had revolted
against the party lead-
ership, leading to the
collapse of the Thacker-
ay-led Maha Vikas
Aghadi government.
Recently, 12 of the 19
Shiv Sena Lok Sabha
members also extended
support to the Shinde
camp.
Shinde has also
formed a national ex-
ecutive of his faction,
claiming it to be the real
Shiv Sena.

group are locked in a le-

The Bharatiya Janata

Thackeray, who turned

.
“Delhi wants to insti-

vide the Marathi-speak-

no party is a permanent

Thackeray said “peo-

that the three-party alli-

“The Shiv Sena will

Without naming pre-

Thackeray claimed
when the Shiv Sena was
with the BJP, he (Shin-

harming the Sena.
“He (Shinde) has got
the chief minister’s post
for himself in a very bad
way

comparing himself to
Shiv Sena supremo late

CM Eknath Shinde visited veteran industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata at his residence

Shinde said that Tata congratulated him and wished him all the best for his career as CM.

The session was pre-

“The last day of the

The flag has been

he and his family are

“Silica gel capusules

Nashik: A tribal girl
student at a state-
run boarding facility
in Nashik district
has alleged a male
teacher stopped her
and other menstruat-
ing girls from plant-
ing trees during a
plantation drive.
This allegation has
prompted the state
Tribal Development
Department to order
an inquiry.
In her complaint ap-
plication, the Class XII
Science student at the
Ashram School for
Girls at Devgaon in
Trimbakeshwar taluka
claimed the teacher
had told her and others
that “trees will not
grow and will burn” if
girls plant them during
their period.
A senior Tribal De-
velopment Department
(TDD) official con-
firmed the receipt of
the complaint.
“Statements of all
persons involved, in-
cluding students from
the girl’s class, teach-
ers, the superintendent
and the principal will
be taken and an in-
quiry will be conduct-
ed,” said Additional
Commissioner Sand-
eep Golait.
On Wednesday, Na-
shik district additional
collector and TDD pro-
ject officer Varsha Mee-
na met the girl at the
school and asked about
her problems.
The complaint stated
the teacher had asked
menstruating girls to
avoid planting trees
during the plantation
drive held last week on
the premises of the
school. The school has
500 girl students.
The teacher also told
the girl students not to
go near trees as the sap-
lings planted last year
did not grow as they
had been planted by
students who were hav-
ing their period at the
time, the complainant
said, adding that she
was not allowed to
plant a sapling.
The girl then ap-
proached Bhagwan
Madhe, Nashik district
Secretary of Shram-
jeevi Sanghatna. Mad-
he said the girl could
not oppose the male
teacher as he is her
class teacher and had
even threatened her
that 80% of assessment
marks are in the hands
of school authorities.
He claimed the
school has also made a
urine pregnancy test
compulsory for admis-
sion, even though there
is no such rule and
made students bear the
cost.
Madhe said he spoke
to Golait over the phone
and submitted a memo-
randum against the
concerned teacher by
visiting Adivasi Vikas
Bhavan in Nashik with
the girl on July 26.

he narrator brings
to us the multidi-
mensional and ver-
satile aspects of PM
Modi’s personality.
From being a com-
passionate caretak-
er of the karyakar-
tas, to being a talented photogra-
pher and a dynamic leader, PM
ModiindeedisthegreatestPrime
Minister India has ever had!
An acquaintance of mine was
unwell and was about to undergo
a kidney transplant. He was an
employee with a company but
his salary wasn’t enough to fund
for his transplant. We then tried
to find out what help we could
have received from the PM and
CM Relief fund. We approached
Narendrabhai who was the CM
at that time and also informed
him that we had approached the
PM. It was Dussehra that day
and shastra pooja was being con-
ducted at CM’s residence. Media
was also present on the occasion
and as a photographer, I was pre-
sent at that event that day
.
As I found an opportunity, I
tried to convey my message to
the CM that there is a needy per-
son here who cannot afford a
kidney transplant and that he
needs the CM’s help at the earli-
est. Although the patient did not
fall into the bracket of benefi-
ciariesfortheparticularscheme,
yet we request the CM to make
this happen somehow to save his
life. Here I would like to bring
out the compassionate side of
Modiji. Immediately, he called
for his Secretary and said that he
wants the file on his table the
next day. Narendra bhai sanc-
tioned the grant for the person’s
treatment. A fund of Rs 175000
was released from the CM Relief
Fund towards my acquaint-
ance’s kidney transplant.
The day Modiji signed the file,
I received a call from him and he
said to me in Gujarati “What you
had requested for has been sanc-
tioned. If you need anything else,
let me know. The operation is go-
ing on right now at Nadiad Kid-
ney Institute. So don’t worry!”
In fact the very first time I
mentioned about my problem to
him, he spoke with somebody at
Nadiad Kidney Institute and told
the relevant department to fix up
a date for the transplant and
to commence with the pro-
cedures. Later on, the pa-
tient, who is a relative asked
me “Brother, who did you
ask to call for my help after
all? The hospital got a call
from the CM office, my file
was moved immediately and
I got a date for the opera-
tion.” I wish to bring to the
readers the truth about the
deep bonds PM Modi shares
with his karyakartas. He
worries about them, lends an
ear to those in a crisis and
ensures their well-being.
Not just this, Narendra
bhai is a multifaceted per-
sonality. He has a knack for
photography and he would
tell me that he is passionate
about it. He used to recall his
yatra to Kailash Mansarovar and
how in those days when such
high-tech cameras were not
available, he still possessed an
extraordinary collection of pic-
t u r e s
clicked by him during his trip.
And, when I saw the photographs
clicked by Narendra bhai, they
were simply mind blowing. They
were worth putting up in an ex-
hibition! Not just this, he also
possessed an eye for good pho-
tography and appreciated the
nicely clicked pictures print-
ed in the newspapers.
Once in the month of
saawan, I clicked a picture of
the Brahmins, pujaris and
sadhus worshiping the shiv-
ling with all the gods and
goddesses and I captured it
in a frame outlined by a
rudrakshmala.Itwasafront
page photo. Narendra bhai
was due to fly to America the
next day in the morning. But
he still called me up early in
the morning at 7 o’clock and
said “Congratulations! You
are a good photographer. It
is a wonderful photograph.”
So this is how Narendra
bhai would encourage tal-
ent and good work. It is in
his nature to appreciate people
and inspire them to rise higher.
Another event I remember is
vividly is when Narendra bhai
reached Surendranagar in Guja-
rat late in the night. Vijayabhai
Rupani was the General Secre-
tary then. Surendranagar was
undergoing severe water crisis
and Narendra bhai said that eve-
ry time he would visit the state
when he was the pracharak, peo-
ple would ask how many days he
would be staying there because
water was a major problem in the
town. People had to literally fetch
waterfromnearbyplacesinbuck-
ets and cans on a weekly basis. So
if he would say that he is going to
stay for three or four days, people
wouldmakearrangementsforad-
equate water for that much time.
Narendrabhaiwasfullyawareof
this grave problem and he prom-
ised that this problem would be
addressedonaprioritybasis.The
first step he took after assuming
the position of the CM was to

canal. In a bid to solve this prob-
lem,NarendrabhailaunchedaRs
320 crore pipeline project and to-
day there is no drinking water
problem for the residents of
Surendranagar.
Thus, being a true leader, he
never forgot his experiences at
the grassroots level. The issues
and difficulties of people that he
came across during his pracha-
rak days remained etched in his
memory
. And during his CM ten-
ure,heensuredthatheaddressed
each and every problem he knew
existed at the ground level. Nar-
endra bhai’s approach as a lead-
er is to treat even the smallest
problems with immediacy and
sort out issues bothering the peo-
ple at lightning speed.

Kolkata (PTI): Days

Enforcement Directo-
rate (ED) in connection
with a school recruit-
ment scam, Bengal
Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee on Wednesday
slammed the media for
launching a “malicious
campaign” against her
party
.
Banerjee also assert-
ed that anyone was
proven guilty by the
court must be punished
but probe agencies
must not be used to ma-
lign political parties .
Addressing a pro-
gramme of Titagarh
Wagons, Banerjee de-
nounced media trials in
the scam.
“When you run a big
institution, there can be
mistakes. If anyone has
committed any mistake,
and it is proven legally,
he or she must be pun-
ished. But I am against
any malicious media
campaign. Media is
playing the role of kan-
garoo (court). A senior
judge also said that re-
cently,” she said.
Banerjee claimed
that businessmen, too,
along with opposition
leaders, were being
threatened by agencies
at the behest of the rul-
ing BJP at the Centre.
“I don’t have a prob-
lem if agencies func-
tion impartially. These
should not be used to

said.

Patna: Prime Minister
Narendra Modi had
talked about cremation
and graveyard in Uttar
Pradesh, but it seems
that Nitish Kumar’s
government is doing
the work of creating
such a balance in Bihar.
In Bihar, boundary
walls of eight thousand
graveyards have been
built with the expendi-
ture of the state gov-
ernment and they have
been painted. So, now
the state government is
going to build the
boundary walls of tem-
ples in the entire state.
It is being said that the
way the cemetery has
been renovated, in the
same way the temples
will also be done. For
this, Bihar State Reli-
gious Trust Council
has also been formed,
under which registra-
tion of temples will be
done.
The state govern-
ment is going to con-
duct a survey of tem-
ples so that the condi-
tion of the temples can
be known. Along with
this, it is also being as-
certained how much
land is with the tem-
ples. The survey will
also find out how many
people visit the temple
every day. It is being
said that most of the
temples are open from
all sides, due to which
gradually there is en-
croachment on the land
of the temples, leading
to disputes. Keep in
mind that most disputes
in Bihar happen over
land. The government
wants to end such dis-
putes. It is not clear if
any other help be given
to temples or priests,
but the leaders of JDU’s
ally BJP are happy with
this initiative of the
government.

RBI TO GO FOR 0.35% HIKE
Mumbai (PTI): The Re-
serve Bank of India’s rate-
setting panel will go for a
0.35% hike in the key repo
rate at its meeting next
week, an American broker-
age said on Wednesday
.
The hike will be accom-
panied by a change in the
policy stance to “calibrated
tightening”,BofaSecurities
said in a report published
ahead of the Monetary Pol-
icy Committee (MPC) reso-
lution which is set to be an-
nounced on August 5.
RBI has hiked the rate by
a cumulative 0.90% in two
tightening moves in May
and June, responding to
the runaway headline in-
flation which has consist-
ently overshot the upper
end of the target set for the
central bank for many
months.
Referring to policy ac-
tions since April, when RBI
introduced the standing
deposit facility, the broker-
age said the central bank
has effectively hiked rates
by 1.30%.
“In our base case, we
now see the RBI MPC hike
policy repo rate by 0.35%,
taking it to 5.25% (higher
than pre-pandemic level),
with stance change to cali-
brated tightening from
withdrawal of accommoda-
tion,” the report said.
The brokerage expects
MPC to retain its FY23 Con-
sumer Price Inflation (CPI)
and real GDP growth fore-
casts, at 6.7% and 7.2%, re-
spectively
.
Last week, RBI Governor
Shaktikanta Das said that
headline inflation, which
came at 7.04% for April, is
appearing to have peaked.
There is a possibility for
MPC to adopt a more ag-
gressive measure and de-
liver a 0.50% hike in rates
like it did in June, joining
some developed market
and regional central banks
who have sent out more de-
cisive signals.
On the other hand, a
0.25% hike in rates can also
not be ruled out, the bro-
kerage said.

ing every look that the design-
er presents. That’s what hap-
pened at the me Show 2022.

hooted as models brought out
the best of what the brand has
offered to its patrons in the
past few years.

  • 1. he narrator brings to us the multidi- mensional and ver- satile aspects of PM Modi’s personalit y. From being a com- passionate caretak- er of the karyakar- tas, to being a talented photogra- pher and a dynamic leader, PM ModiindeedisthegreatestPrime Minister India has ever had! An acquainta nce of mine was unwell and was about to undergo a kidney transplan t. He was an employee with a company but his salary wasn’t enough to fund for his transplant. We then tried to find out what help we could have received from the PM and CM Relief fund. We approache d Narendrabhai who was the CM at that time and also informed him that we had approache d the PM. It was Dussehra that day and shastra pooja was being con- ducted at CM’s residence. Media was also present on the occasion and as a photograp her, I was pre- sent at that event that day . As I found an opportuni ty, I tried to convey my message to the CM that there is a needy per- son here who cannot afford a kidney transplan t and that he needs the CM’s help at the earli- est. Although the patient did not fall into the bracket of benefi- ciariesfortheparticular scheme, yet we request the CM to make this happen somehow to save his life. Here I would like to bring out the compassio nate side of Modiji. Immediately, he called for his Secretary and said that he wants the file on his table the next day. Narendra bhai sanc- tioned the grant for the person’s treatment . A fund of Rs 175000 was released from the CM Relief Fund towards my acquaint- ance’s kidney transplant. The day Modiji signed the file, I received a call from him and he said to me in Gujarati “What you had requested for has been sanc- tioned. If you need anything else, let me know. The operation is go- ing on right now at Nadiad Kid- ney Institute. So don’t worry!” In fact the very first time I mentioned about my problem to him, he spoke with somebody at Nadiad Kidney Institute and told the relevant departmen t to fix up a date for the transplant and to commence with the pro- cedures. Later on, the pa- tient, who is a relative asked me “Brother, who did you ask to call for my help after all? The hospital got a call from the CM office, my file was moved immediate ly and I got a date for the opera- tion.” I wish to bring to the readers the truth about the deep bonds PM Modi shares with his karyakart as. He worries about them, lends an ear to those in a crisis and ensures their well-being . Not just this, Narendra bhai is a multifaceted per- sonality. He has a knack for photograp hy and he would tell me that he is passionate about it. He used to recall his yatra to Kailash Mansarovar and how in those days when such high-tech cameras were not available, he still possessed an extraordin ary collection of pic- tures clicked by him during his trip. And, when I saw the photo- graphs clicked by Narendra bhai, they were simply mind blowing. They were worth putting up in an exhibition ! Not just this, he also possessed an eye for good photograp hy and appreciate d the nicely clicked pictures printed in the newspapers. Once in the month of saawan, I clicked a picture of the Brahmins , pujaris and sadhus worshipin g the shiv- ling with all the gods and goddesses and I captured it in a frame outlined by a rudrakshmala.Itwasafront page photo. Narendra bhai was due to fly to America the next day in the morning. But he still called me up early in the morning at 7 o’clock and said “Congratu lations! You are a good photograp her. It is a wonderful photograp h.” So this is how Narendra bhai would encourage tal- ent and good work. It is in his nature to appreciate people and inspire them to rise higher. Another event I remember is vividly is when Narendra bhai reached Surendran agar in Guja- rat late in the night. Vijayabha i Rupani was the General Secre- tary then. Surendran agar was undergoin g severe water crisis and Narendra bhai said that eve- ry time he would visit the state when he was the pracharak , peo- ple would ask how many days he would be staying there because water was a major problem in the town. People had to literally fetch waterfromnearbyplacesinbuck- ets and cans on a weekly basis. So if he would say that he is going to stay for three or four days, people wouldmakearrangementsforad- equate water for that much time. Narendrabhaiwasfullyawareof this grave problem and he prom- ised that this problem would be addressed onaprioritybasis. The first step he took after assuming the position of the CM was to havenewpumpingstationssetup thatwouldliftNarmadacanalwa- ter from the Saurashtr a branch canal. In a bid to solve this prob- lem,NarendrabhailaunchedaRs 320 crore pipeline project and to- day there is no drinking water problem for the residents of Surendran agar. Thus, being a true leader, he never forgot his experienc es at the grassroots level. The issues and difficulties of people that he came across during his pracha- rak days remained etched in his memory . And during his CM ten- ure, heensuredthatheaddressed each and every problem he knew existed at the ground level. Nar- endra bhai’s approach as a lead- er is to treat even the smallest problems with immediac y and sort out issues bothering the peo- ple at lightning speed. To be continued ... T Modi, a warm- hearted human A DYNAMIC LEADER, AN ACCOMPLISHED PHOTOGRAPHER AND A PM MODI DONS SEVERAL HATS WITH PANACHE MODI LAUNCHED `320 CRORE PIPELINE FOR THE RESIDENTS OF SURENDRANAGAR T he first step he took after assuming the position of the CM was to have new pumping stations set up that would lift Narmada canal water from the Saurashtra branch canal. In a bid to solve this problem, Narendra bhai launched a `320 crore pipeline project and today there is no drinking water problem for the residents of Surendranag ar. NARENDRA BHAI TREATED EVEN SMALLEST PROBLEMS WITH IMMEDIACY T hus, being a true leader, he never forgot his experiences at the grassroots level. And during his CM tenure, he ensured that he addressed each and every problem he knew existed at the ground level. Narendra bhai’s approach as a leader is to treat even the smallest problems with immediacy and sort out issues bothering the people at lightning speed. Congratulations! You are a good photographer. It is a wonderful photograph. —Narendra Modi the relevant departmen t to fix up from the CM office, my file was moved immediate ly and I got a date for the opera- tion.” I wish to bring to the readers the truth about the deep bonds PM Modi shares with his karyakart as. DGCA had on July 6 issued a show-cause notice to the airline, stating that “poor in- ternal safety over- sight” and “inadequate maintenance actions” have resulted in degra- dation of safety mar- gins. Just three days after issuing the notice, the regulator started conducting spot checks on SpiceJet planes. The spot checks were com- pleted on July 13. Minister of state for civil aviation VK Singh recently told RS, DGCA conducted 53 checks on 48 SpiceJet aircraft be- tween July 9 and July 13 and it did not find any major safety violations. DGCA orders SpiceJet to operate 50% of approved flights for 8 weeks after multiple snags NO IMPACT ON OUR FLIGHT OPS: SpiceJet AS DGCA HALVES CAP We want to reassure our passengers and travel partners that our flights will oper- ate as per schedule in the coming days and weeks. There will be will be ‘absolutely no impact’ on the flight operations as a conse- quence of this order, said a SpiceJet source. The airlines also said that DGCA’s observation that SpiceJet is taking measures for arresting the trend of incidents is very encouraging and we will continue to work under the close guidance of the regulator and adhere to their regulations and norms. SpiceJet airlines had reported at least 8 technical malfunction incidents in 18 days recently A WARNING! The cash-strapped airline will be allowed to scale up operations only after proving that it has “sufficient, technical support and financial resource to safely and efficiently un- dertake such enhanced capacity.” The DGCA had on July 19 started a 2-month-long special audit of all Indian carriers after its spot checks earlier this month found that insufficient and unqualified engineering personnel are certifying carriers’ planes before their departure. —DGCA Officials MONSOON SESSION z Lok Sabha adjourned, to meet at 11 am today z Rahul Gandhi’s 10 questions to Centre after suspension of the Op- position MPs z 20 suspended RS MPs begin 50-hour pro- test in the Parl complex z Nat’l Anti-Doping Bill, 2021, passed in Lok Sabha z RS adjourned till today amid sloganeering z All the Opposition paries appeals for revo- cation of Congress MPs FULL REPORT P5 CRUCIAL READ `1.64L CR REVIVAL PACKAGE FOR BSNL, `1.49 L CR RECEIVED IN SPECTRUM SALE New Delhi: Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said 5G spectrum auctions will continue on Thursday as well. PM to inaugurate 44th Int’l Chess Olympiad in TN today Renni Abraham Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s plan to fly down to New Delhi Wednesday evening was cancelled at the last moment on a day his two-man council of ministers (comprising him and deputy CM De- vendra Fadnavis) sanc- tioned a slew of high- cost proposals for farm- ers, irrigation and power projects that would be difficult to fund without support from the Union Govern- ment. Efforts to seek infor- mation from the CMO regarding the sudden cancellation of Shin- de’s trip to New Delhi did not elicit a response till the time of going to press. “CM Shinde’s meet- ing with Union Home Minister Amit Shah would have undoubted- ly included discussions on the pending expan- sion of the cabinet of ministers in Maharash- tra, over challenges of accommodating all as- pirants particularly the independent MLAs. However, the main course of discussions are expected to dwell around the huge fund- ing that Shinde’s gov- ernment will require in the coming days from the Union Govern- ment to execute the big ticket pro- jects being launched left, right and centre,” ac- cording to a source close to the develop- ment. The Shinde led and BJP backed govern- ment today, for in- stance, announced an in- centive scheme for farmers that could pos- sibly benefit 13.85 lakh farmers, who regularly cleared their outstand- ing crop loans for any two of the last four fis- cal years (between 2017-2018 and 2020-2021) as per the govern- ment’s estimation. Each such eligible agri- culturist stands to gain a maximum of Rs 50,000 as incentive from the government which would need Central Government funding to make this possible. A Rs 20,000 crore re- furbishment of Mum- bai city’s local rail net- work making it fully air-conditioned is also proposed by 2023. Similarly, Wednes- day’s cabinet meeting also cleared two pro- posals of around Rs 40,000 crore in infrastructure bolstering for the state’s Power Distribution Company and a further Rs 3,461 crore for the Brihanmumbai Elec- tricity Supply and Transport (BEST) un- dertaking. According to the source, the Shah meet- ing, which deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis was not scheduled to at- tend, was primarily an outreach to the Centre by the Maharashtra CM seeking specific guidelines and infor- mation on how the mas- sive funding for infra- structure projects set to unveiled in a blitz- krieg format would be undertaken through the assistance of New Delhi. “Of course, the pending cabinet expan- sion would also have been discussed at the meeting but, as we know there is a major discontent brewing among the Shinde led faction of MLAs (in- cluding 40 rebel Shiv Sena and 10 independ- ent MLAs). The BJP experiences no such turbulence despite hav- ing a 115 strong MLAs grouping (including 9 independents) as it is a structured political formation with strict disciplinary function- ing.” Maha CM To Meet Shah For Funds, Hitches in Cabinet Formation MEGA PROJECTS LINED UP Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Delhi visit, rescheduled at last moment, for finance needed to execute big ticket projects for the state with consolidated debt of `6 lakh crore Eknath Shinde Amit Shah Mumbai trains to get `20K cr upgrade? Renni Abraham Mumbai: Mumbai’s local train network, which caters to more than 60 lakh commut- ers daily, will be spruced up and trans- formed into a fully air- conditioned avatar by the end of 2023, at a cost of Rs20,000 crore. “The BJP govern- ment at the Centre is focused on ensuring passenger conveni- ence at no additional cost. The current may- hem and overcrowding of local train networks on all three (Western, Central and Harbour) lines begets the need for more dignity in travel, especially for women commuters who have been travel- ling like sardines in a can due to the huge population growth in Mumbai city,” Zonal Railway Users’ Con- sultative Committee (ZRUCC) member Ma- hendra Jain told First India. Jain, who is also co- convenor of the Maha- rashtra BJP Vyapari Cell, added that the last effort to ensure the safety of passen- gers was launched a few years back when Bombardier locomo- tives were introduced in the Mumbai sector. “It came to our no- tice then that the dis- tance between the plat- forms and the foot- board of these new-age locomotives evidenced a huge gap, and work on aligning the plat- form suitably (incre- mentally) high was ac- complished due to ZRUCC’s efforts while keeping the urgency of passenger safety in mind. We were able to introduce 181 ambu- lances, set up out-pa- tient departments (OPDs) and ensure special trains between Daund and Pune,” he said. Alongside air-condi- tioned comfort for pas- sengers at no addition- al cost, Union Rail- ways Minister Ashwi- ni Kumar is also seek- ing to improve the ef- ficiency and frequency of local trains. Also planned is making 15-coach trains man- datory in Mumbai--as opposed to the current mix of 12-coach and 15-coach trains--for en- hanced passenger ca- pacities. The BJP is set to publicly announce the Mumbai locals refur- bishment plans with an eye on the forth- coming BMC elections, where it intends to ag- gressively try and dis- lodge the Shiv Sena from power. They were protesting against in- terim Congress chief Sonia Gan- dhi’s question- ing by the En- forcement Directorate (ED), offi- cials of the G o v e r n - ment Rail- way Police (GRP) said. The protesters shouted slogans against the Enforce- ment Directorate and the Narendra Modi-led Union government, as Sonia Gandhi appeared before the ED in New Delhi on Wednesday for the third round of ques- tioning in a money- laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper. GRP Railway Protec- tion Force (RPF) per- sonnel removed the pro- testers from the tracks within a few minutes and the train departed for its onward journey, the officials said. The GRP then de- tained some of the pro- testers, they said. A Western Railway spokesperson said the agitation, which was staged for a few min- utes, did not affect train services as the GRP re- moved the protesters from tracks and de- tained them. Sonia Gandhi (75) has been questioned for over eight hours by the ED during the last two appearances where she faced 65-70 ques- tions relating to alleged financial irregularities in the Congress-pro- moted Young Indian Pvt. Ltd, which owns the National Herald. The Congress work- ers sat in front of the lo- cal ED office and chant- ed “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram”—words from a devotional song which had been popularised by Mahatma Gandhi—and also raised slogans against the BJP-led Un- ion government. The Congress has slammed the ED’s ac- tion against its top lead- ership and termed it as “political vendetta” and “harassment”. The petition filed by Mohammed Mushtaq Ahmed, Annasaheb Khandare and Rajesh More, all residents of Aurangabad, is likely to be heard by the court on August 01. Notably, the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government un- der Uddhav Thackeray had decided to rename the city as Sambhajina- gar in its last cabinet meeting on June 29 this year. The new government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde earlier this month passed a fresh proposal that will see Marathwada’s big- gest city being called Chhatrapati Sambhaji- nagar. The petition claimed that in 2001, the state government made an attempt to change the name of Aurangabad city but it was aborted. However, the previ- ous government led by former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray raised the issue of changing the name of Aurangabad in the last cabinet meeting for “political considera- tions”, claimed the plea. The present govern- ment led by Chief Min- ister Eknath Shinde re- affirmed the decision without taking into consideration public sentiments and in com- plete disregard to provi- sions of the Constitu- tion, it further stated. The city of Aurang- abad is part of history and has a rich culture, and political parties like the Shiv Sena have been trying to change the name to gain politi- cal mileage, it added. Residents oppose move, term it an ‘attempt to gain political mileage through hatred’ THE NAMING CONUNDRUM The purpose behind changing the name of Aurangabad is to spread hatred among the community towards Muslims so as to gain political advantage. —Petition filed by Aurangabad residents Shinde avoids ‘Shiv Sena prez’ ref while wishing Uddhav Mumbai (PTI): Chief Minister Eknath Shin- de on Wednesday greeted his predeces- sor Uddhav Thacker- ay on the latter’s 62nd birthday. However, Shinde’s greeting con- spicuously refrained from referring to Thackeray as the Shiv Sena president. On Wednesday, Shin- de tweeted: “Greetings to former chief minis- ter Uddhav Thackeray on his birthday. I pray for his healthy and long life.” Last month, Shinde, along with 39 other Shiv Sena MLAs and 10 inde- pendents, had revolted against the party lead- ership, leading to the collapse of the Thacker- ay-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Recently, 12 of the 19 Shiv Sena Lok Sabha members also extended support to the Shinde camp. Shinde has also formed a national ex- ecutive of his faction, claiming it to be the real Shiv Sena. The Thackeray-led Sena and the Shinde group are locked in a le- gal battle over pleas seeking disqualification of 16 rebel legislators and also over a claim for the party’s symbol with the Election Commis- sion of India. The Sena will have its own CM once again, for which, I will tour the state to rejuvenate the party cadre.” The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is giving everything to those who have come from other parties--from the post of chief minister (Sena re- bel Eknath Shinde) to leader of opposition (which is currently held by National- ist Congress Party’s Ajit Pawar), said Thackeray, who turned 62 on Wednesday . “Delhi wants to insti- gate a Shiv Sena versus Shiv Sena fight and di- vide the Marathi-speak- ing people. If the pre- sent rulers fear the op- position, it is their inef- ficiency . In a democracy , no party is a permanent winner,” he said. Thackeray said “peo- ple had welcomed the MVA experiment” and that the three-party alli- ance was born out of the BJP’s denial of what was assured to him. “The Shiv Sena will have a chief minister again. The session also included INA vol- unteers. The session saw Nehru hoisting the khadi tricolour having charkha image in the centre,” he informed. The session was pre- sided over by JB Kri- plani, the then Con- gress president and consisted of members such as Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Sucheta Kriplani. “The last day of the session witnessed the flag coming down. Nehru and General Shahnawaz Khan from INA signed it and then handed the flag to my grandfather for safe keeping,” he said. The flag has been preserved by Dev Na- gar and his family since then. Dev Nagar mentions that at that time Nehru said that the fight for freedom has been fought under this flag and had said that the flag will be the national flag of the country. While the three col- ours have been re- tained in the national flag, the spinning wheel was replaced by Ashok Chakra repre- senting Dhar- machakra—a wheel with 24 spokes. On being asked about the methodology for preserving the flag for so long, Dev Nagar said he and his family are no experts in preserv- ing flags, but they fol- lowed the basic rule of keeping it away from dust and moisture. “Silica gel capusules are used to keep it away from moisture. It is al- ways kept folded, packed and sealed. Sometimes, we keep it out under the sun and fold it back,” he said. The complaint stated the teacher had asked menstruating girls to avoid planting trees during the plantation drive held last week on the premises of the school. The school has 500 girl students. The teacher also told the girl students not to go near trees as the sap- lings planted last year did not grow as they had been planted by students who were hav- ing their period at the time, the complainant said, adding that she was not allowed to plant a sapling. The girl then ap- proached Bhagwan Madhe, Nashik district Secretary of Shram- jeevi Sanghatna. He claimed the school has also made a urine pregnancy test compulsory for admis- sion, even though there is no such rule and made students bear the cost. Madhe said he spoke to Golait over the phone and submitted a memo- randum against the concerned teacher by visiting Adivasi Vikas Bhavan in Nashik with the girl on July 26. From being a com- passionate caretak- er of the karyakar- tas, to being a talented photogra- pher and a dynamic leader, PM ModiindeedisthegreatestPrime Minister India has ever had! An acquaintance of mine was unwell and was about to undergo a kidney transplant. He was an employee with a company but his salary wasn’t enough to fund for his transplant. We then tried to find out what help we could have received from the PM and CM Relief fund. We approached Narendrabhai who was the CM at that time and also informed him that we had approached the PM. It was Dussehra that day and shastra pooja was being con- ducted at CM’s residence. Media was also present on the occasion and as a photographer, I was pre- sent at that event that day . As I found an opportunity, I tried to convey my message to the CM that there is a needy per- son here who cannot afford a kidney transplant and that he needs the CM’s help at the earli- est. Although the patient did not fall into the bracket of benefi- ciariesfortheparticularscheme, yet we request the CM to make this happen somehow to save his life. Here I would like to bring out the compassionate side of Modiji. Immediately, he called for his Secretary and said that he wants the file on his table the next day. Narendra bhai sanc- tioned the grant for the person’s treatment. So don’t worry!” In fact the very first time I mentioned about my problem to him, he spoke with somebody at Nadiad Kidney Institute and told the relevant department to fix up a date for the transplant and to commence with the pro- cedures. Later on, the pa- tient, who is a relative asked me “Brother, who did you ask to call for my help after all? The hospital got a call from the CM office, my file was moved immediately and I got a date for the opera- tion.” I wish to bring to the readers the truth about the deep bonds PM Modi shares with his karyakartas. He worries about them, lends an ear to those in a crisis and ensures their well-being. Not just this, Narendra bhai is a multifaceted per- sonality. He has a knack for photography and he would tell me that he is passionate about it. He used to recall his yatra to Kailash Mansarovar and how in those days when such high-tech cameras were not available, he still possessed an extraordinary collection of pic- t u r e s clicked by him during his trip. And, when I saw the photographs clicked by Narendra bhai, they were simply mind blowing. They were worth putting up in an ex- hibition! Not just this, he also possessed an eye for good pho- tography and appreciated the nicely clicked pictures print- ed in the newspapers. Once in the month of saawan, I clicked a picture of the Brahmins, pujaris and sadhus worshiping the shiv- ling with all the gods and goddesses and I captured it in a frame outlined by a rudrakshmala.Itwasafront page photo. Narendra bhai was due to fly to America the next day in the morning. But he still called me up early in the morning at 7 o’clock and said “Congratulations! You are a good photographer. It is a wonderful photograph.” So this is how Narendra bhai would encourage tal- ent and good work. It is in his nature to appreciate people and inspire them to rise higher. Another event I remember is vividly is when Narendra bhai reached Surendranagar in Guja- rat late in the night. Vijayabhai Rupani was the General Secre- tary then. Surendranagar was undergoing severe water crisis and Narendra bhai said that eve- ry time he would visit the state when he was the pracharak, peo- ple would ask how many days he would be staying there because water was a major problem in the town. People had to literally fetch waterfromnearbyplacesinbuck- ets and cans on a weekly basis. So if he would say that he is going to stay for three or four days, people wouldmakearrangementsforad- equate water for that much time. Narendrabhaiwasfullyawareof this grave problem and he prom- ised that this problem would be addressedonaprioritybasis. The first step he took after assuming the position of the CM was to havenewpumpingstationssetup thatwouldliftNarmadacanalwa- ter from the Saurashtra branch canal. And during his CM ten- ure, heensuredthatheaddressed each and every problem he knew existed at the ground level. In Bihar, boundary walls of eight thousand graveyards have been built with the expendi- ture of the state gov- ernment and they have been painted. So, now the state government is going to build the boundary walls of tem- ples in the entire state. For this, Bihar State Reli- gious Trust Council has also been formed, under which registra- tion of temples will be done. The state govern- ment is going to con- duct a survey of tem- ples so that the condi- tion of the temples can be known. Along with this, it is also being as- certained how much land is with the tem- ples. The survey will also find out how many people visit the temple every day. It is being said that most of the temples are open from all sides, due to which gradually there is en- croachment on the land of the temples, leading to disputes. Keep in mind that most disputes in Bihar happen over land. The government wants to end such dis- putes. It is not clear if any other help be given to temples or priests, but the leaders of JDU’s ally BJP are happy with this initiative of the government. The hike will be accom- panied by a change in the policy stance to “calibrated tightening”,BofaSecurities said in a report published ahead of the Monetary Pol- icy Committee (MPC) reso- lution which is set to be an- nounced on August 5. RBI has hiked the rate by a cumulative 0.90% in two tightening moves in May and June, responding to the runaway headline in- flation which has consist- ently overshot the upper end of the target set for the central bank for many months. Referring to policy ac- tions since April, when RBI introduced the standing deposit facility, the broker- age said the central bank has effectively hiked rates by 1.30%. “In our base case, we now see the RBI MPC hike policy repo rate by 0.35%, taking it to 5.25% (higher than pre-pandemic level), with stance change to cali- brated tightening from withdrawal of accommoda- tion,” the report said. The brokerage expects MPC to retain its FY23 Con- sumer Price Inflation (CPI) and real GDP growth fore- casts, at 6.7% and 7.2%, re- spectively . Last week, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that headline inflation, which came at 7.04% for April, is appearing to have peaked. There is a possibility for MPC to adopt a more ag- gressive measure and de- liver a 0.50% hike in rates like it did in June, joining some developed market and regional central banks who have sent out more de- cisive signals. On the other hand, a 0.25% hike in rates can also not be ruled out, the bro- kerage said.
