Marxism In Angela s Ashes
At the end of Ashes a teen girl is confronted with a choice of helping her dad of helping her mom
Ash(leigh) is a teenage girl with divorced parents. To make matters worse, she is an only child. Dad is
Ashes father. He s a big dreamer, hopes that things go right, and he tries to stay calm in bad situations.
He likes to see the glass half full. Mom overactive loves to plan and think things through sees the
glass half empty. Ash took the money for her dad because her dad had done so much for her, he would
get the money back in one week, and nothing could go wrong in the time. Ashes might believe that she
needs to pay her dad back for the things he s done for her. I d been seeing him Tuesdays for almost
two years at that point. (Pfeffer,1). When her dad had been taking Ash under his wing for two years
she has to want to pay him back somehow. When Ashes is describing dad she tends to get defensive
when he forgets about mom and Ashes Or got all of his favourite kinds of Chinese and none of mom s

the things he s done for her and mom. When Ashes is in school, with dad it seems that he is always
supportive. Dad forgot to pick me up at school or didn t have the money for the class trip... (Pfeffer,1).

Education And Social Economic Reward
We have all heard the expression that education is the key to success. . It makes sense, right? The
more education you have, the more successful you will be. In some ways that is true. The education
we get prepares us for our future and our future outcomes. After all, there is a direct correlation
between education and social economic reward and that people with high education usually live
happier, healthier, and wealthier lives. Those individuals who obtain higher education and the skills
that they learn will later lead the individual to work in high status and high paying jobs. We assume
that they make an astonishing amount of money and everyone lives happily ever after right? In our
world today the American Dream is lost, is just that, a dream. We are taught that if you play by the
rules, work hard, apply yourself and do well in school and that will open doors for you, and you will
be successful and all that other crap we are told in school , TV, news, radio and practically everywhere
else. Although everyone deserves the right to education and the key to success the truth of the matter
is that education inequalities exist and not everyone is getting the same level of education or the same
opportunities either. The group in America that obtains the best education is the upper class while the
lower class students are left with lower odds of education.
One major roadblock in your dreams for success and education is what sociologists know as the
conflict theory. Karl

I Hate Crime Essay
LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender. Most recently the community added on QI to
represent those who identify as queer and intersex individuals.
The first hate crime acts date back to 1969 when police raided the gay bar Stonewall Inn in New York
City. This led to riots conducted by the LGBT community. The police brutality did not stop there. A
little less than a year later a gay man, Howard Efland, checked into a Los Angeles hotel under a made
up name was beat up by the Los Angeles Police Department (Faderman Timmons, 2006).
One of the most famous acts occurred on November 27, 1978. Harvey Milk, an openly gay San
Francisco city supervisor and Mayor George Moscone (who was not a gay man) were assassinated by
a political rival, Dan White, at San Francisco City Hall. Milk was the first openly gay person to be
elected to public office in California. Deep into his office term he became an activist for the gay
community, passing many gay rights ordinance for the city. He was an icon and a role model in the
LGBTQI community before his untimely death (Shilts, 2008).
Unfortunately, the crimes didn t stop there, in fact, they only seemed to worsen. Earlier I mentioned

This literary submission will take on a systematic, convergent approach in focusing on five separate
articles regarding green consumerism. The five peer reviewed articles which have been selected for
this paper have been placed in the appendix of this submission in the order in which they appear in the
bibliography.
A key point which is continuously brought up within each article is that environmental consumerism is
becoming more and more prevalent in today s society (Mazar and Zhong, 2009). Although there ...

The article also identifies the green consumer as often very skeptical of green advertising in general,
which results in their own adoptive means of conducting alternative research so that they are well
informed prior to making a purchase (Shrum et. Al, 1995). As well, Auger s article provided
supporting evidence to this point by restating that active information seekers were often more apt to
adopt socially ethical products (Auger et al, 2003).
Several types of research methods were used to reach these conclusions, including the use of primary
data collected through ethical disposition surveys and choice experiment surveys (Auger et al, 2003).
An extensive amount of secondary research was also pulled together, with some data sets being
analyzed to determine the conclusive results (Shrum et. Al, 1995). However, it is noted within each
paper that there are gaps which exist within each article s research design. For example, some surveys
were only targeted at a certain demographics, leading to a relatively homogeneous study groups
(Haytko and Matulich, 2007), while other data sets did not reflect the general population, as some
secondary data either over represented or underrepresented certain populations, resulting in an
incomprehensive analysis of data (Shrum et. Al, 1995).
As a result, gaps can be observed in both the research questions conducted within these articles, as
well as the

Genetically Modified Organisms Over the last few years, many people and news organization talk
about the use of GMO s and how they are not safe for our health. The process of genetically
modifying foods has been tested and researched and in recent years has been more widely used by
giant corporations and some farmers. Scientists have altered seeds and grown food synthetically. The
government says that GMO s are not harmful and has publicly stated that they feel it will solve world
hunger. Many studies have shown that the reproduction of food in this manner is harmful. Many
scientists believe that it is not the product but how it is being used. The corporations are utilizing bad

The option to genetically modify food seemed the lesser of two evils, to those that would turn a blind
eye to the corporate giants. We are way overpopulated and our resources can only extend so far and a
solution needs to be in play however in the proper hands.
In order for me to come up with a clearer solution, I feel the public needs to see the results of four
different crops and four animal farms over another ten year span. One from Monsanto Corporation,
one organic, on a typical farm with non modified seeds and animals and one genetically modified
farmer grown with good soil , good water and no or non harmful pesticides. All four sources used in
this annotated bibliography, provided in depth good research covering the last decade from reputable
sources. One article was directly from a researcher on the GMO project. Without further testing and
the proper handling GMOs could have a very bad reaction to the animal and human population.

Interview Narrative
I loved living in New York. The always busy city s streets and the diversity of the people residing
there gave the metropolis strong character. For ten months, I had been practicing law in the city and
enjoying my job a lot until that fateful day when my fiancée ended our engagement. Following the
breakup, my job became my sanctuary, a place where I did not think about life. I had a very important
meeting with a prominent executive name Brian Ross, who had hired our firm to represent his little

The Importance Of Reducing The Emissions That Are Emitted...
Altomonte
The article stats off with talking about the importance of reducing the emissions that are emitted by,
and go into building buildings. The article explains the history of global warming, and the science
behind the basics of climate change and warming. It stateZs how humans have changed the chemistry
of the atmosphere through the combustion of fossil fuels and living matter, bringing about the prospect
of global alterations and shifts in the whole terrestrial climate system(Altomonte,2008,pg.97). It is this
reason that the world is experiencing climate change, and though the climate may have been naturally

Climate change is expected to negatively affect the future of most developing countries, increasing the
pressure on available resources that are associated with urbanisation and industrialisation(102). With
these affects in mind, Altomonte explains the mitigation and adaptations strategies to mitigate the
possible consequences of climate change. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly
contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce
their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise
their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current
buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new design strategies is
necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well as do not negatively
impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be included, inclduing
physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding of the necessary
features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic and cultural values
(106). Altomonte states how these conditions of a new climate, now seem unavoidable(99), but there
is solutions to be made to

orientation, romantic and sexual relationships are not mentioned in the report. Considering his
particular cultural elements, he is in advantageous situation in some part such as, ethnicity, sex,
religion and age. Thus, he is not likely to feel extra oppression due to his metal health and alcohol use

he is not able to access his former psychiatrist due to his current insurance. When it comes to his

The Millennium Development Goals
One of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) was the focus on finding ways to eradicate
poverty and hunger especially in under developed and developing economies. However, the banking
crisis and very recently the slump in oil prices have brought a new twist; as developed economies
began to struggle with poverty and of weak economy due to a large portfolio of debt as seen in some
EU countries. Fifteen years later, the MDG goals is far from being actualised as under developed
countries are still under developed and developing countries are developing at different rates with the
likes of Malaysia and especially Brazil making bigger strides.
According to a survey on the Brazil economy, Haner (2011) showed that a major contribution to the
growth of the Brazilian economy is due to the impact of the small and medium scale enterprises
(SMEs). It is estimated that the SMEs account for 20% of the Gross domestic product (GDP) and 54%
of total formal employment in the country (Office of Evaluation and Oversight [OVE] 2014). SMEs
also play an important role in the economic development in Malaysia accounting for 33% of GDP,
58% of employment and 19% of export (Hashim 2015). There is a higher survival rate of SMEs in
Malaysia with 97.3% of business establishments recognised as SMEs (Khalique 2011; Lim Xavier
2015).
The above examples highlights the importance of SMEs in helping a developing country move in the
right direction. The research proposal is focussed on how Nigeria a

How reaganomics and first gulf war affected the lives of Americans
Reaganomics is also known as trickle down economics. It consists of various economic policies that
were suggested by President Ronald Reagan during his presidency. He believed that investing in the
top echelon of society, or cutting taxes to corporations, would lead to growth of corporations as they
will make more money and thus hire more employees
The Reaganomics was summed up into several parts;
Reducing of taxes

Different people had different views towards the deregulation policy. Some thought it was ideal, and
they advocated an increase in privatizing industries. The second school of thought believed that
Reaganomics eliminated safeguards from industries that increased corporate greed in the society.
(Blanchard 1987)
The poorer were seen to be suppressed by these policies as compared to the wealthy and these in
general reduced people s saving abilities. However, there was a tremendous fall in both unemployment
rate and interest.
As much as some of the policies laid out in the Reaganomics had negative effects, it is seen to have a
couple of positive ideas that result in a workable plan that would eventually help Americans. PART

Our Lady Of Guadalupe
Our Lady of the Liberation There are many names for Our Lady of Guadalupe like the Virgin of
Guadalupe, and Tonantzin, but they all mean the goddess that protected the people and came to Juan
Diego. Over thousands of years the story of Tonantzin, what the native Aztec people called their
Virgin Mother Mary, has been passed down and celebrated in the Mexican culture for all of the good
and protection that they believe she has brought them. In Rodolfo Corky Gonzales epic poem Yo Soy
Joaquin he references this Aztec goddess, Tonantzin because she is a religious figure, she was
considered a native and she is a symbol of independence. To begin, Our Lady of Guadalupe, or the
Virgin Mary, has always been present in the Catholic Church but was first seen in 1531 ( Our Lady of

Most Popular Symphonic Orchestra Music In The World
Pre Concert Research Composed by Bohemian composer Antonín Leopold Dvořák (1841 1904) in
1893, Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95: From the New World is one of the most popular
symphonic orchestra music in the world. Including Symphony No. 9, many of his musical works as a
composer were created in the romantic period. This music consist of four movements and the total
duration time of the music is about forty minutes. Each movement has different characteristic, but I
will focus on the first movement, which is known as Adagio Allegro molto, in this research. Herbert
von Karajan conducted the orchestra I posted on EDpuzzle. In general, music instruments which an
orchestra use for this music are two flutes (2nd doubling piccolo), two oboes and English horn, two
clarinets, two bassoons, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, tuba, timpani, triangle, cymbals,
and strings. In the early stage of the movement, loud minor sounds of string and woodwind
instruments created feelings of magnificence and anxiety at the same time. In the midway of the
movement, the orchestra played the combination or alternate of minor and some gentle major
melodies. Therefore, the mood of this music frequently changes: powerful and impressive minor
sounds and warm major sound. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Modernist Movement in Ford s Good Soldier and Woolf s...
Ford Madox Ford and Virginia Woolf were major contributors to the modernist movement. They, as
well as others (such as James Joyce), were trying something new, by breaking down the boundaries of
traditional writing. Ford s Good Soldier and Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway are two particular examples of the
genre. These novels were not well received in their own time. As time went on, however, the attitudes
of the literary world changed and were able to finally see these works for what they really are
exemplary pieces of fiction, certainly worth merit.
The Good Soldier was first published in 1915. Rebecca West penned a promising review for the year,
ending with Indeed, this is a much, much better book than any of us deserve (40). ... Show more

He questions Dowell s mental balance because he degrades Florence, his wife, for her indiscretions.
Edward Ashburnham is guilty of the very same things, yet he is still regarded as good people. He also
wonders at the meaning of the narrator s nearly phobic concern with Catholicism, or of the way in
which his slurs at Leonora are justified by her attachment to that persuasion (46).
If the implication is that John Dowell is crazy, Schorer is failing to see other psychological reasons
why a man such as Dowell would think this way. It is evident that our narrator has not fully processed
all of the events before he begins to tell of them. In addition, Dowell obviously wants to continue
thinking highly of Ashburnham the good soldier, and this completes John s psychological quandary. At
the very least, Schorer recognizes the merit of The Good Soldier, and his essay appears to understand
the deliberate complexities of the novel.
Charles Hoffman likens The Good Soldier to an allegory, the breakup of civilization itself, heading
toward disaster (53). Even while the quartet is falling apart, however, they still put on the proverbial
brave face and, to all outward appearances, are just fine. This can be applied to the world at large.
Ford also exposes the evil kernel within the hearts of mankind. To others, these are good people, but

Artificial Intelligence ( Unmanned Aerial Vehicle ) Essay
Within the construction industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is beginning to take jobsites by storm. If
someone were to walk onto a jobsite today, someone in that location would be using AI. Current uses
of AI today span from mobile technology that supervision uses to man a jobsite to an actual robot
pouring concrete or welding a pipe. With the technology improvements being made daily, there will be
a day few people will consist of the workforce on the job, and the rest will be some sort of robotics.
Among the Artificial Intelligence being used or that will be the future are: Drones/UAV (Unmanned

Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) A lot of people may think of drones, also known as UAV

things, and for business owner s and clients, the most important thing is getting the job done sooner
with reduced costs. Previously, layouts of jobsites took weeks. The land had to be surveyed to verify if
the soil was appropriate and whether it needed to be graded or not. Areas had to be marked off where
each trade would store their material. Physical surveying of the area with tripods had to be done, as
well, for the specific layout and placement of the

Examples Of Censorship In America Today
Censorship is one of the most controversial topics in America today. It provides rules or discipline for
new technology. It covers music, video games, movies, plays, and the internet. Censorship is all
around us, but how has it affected our nation as a whole? Censorship is the suppression of words,
images, or ideas that are offensive, happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal
political or moral values on others. Censorship has existed in ancient societies, and was made to
prevent the wrong audiences from seeing things that were to mature. One of the most famous
examples was in 399BC when the philosopher Socrates was sentenced to drink poison for his
corruption of youth and his acknowledgement of unorthodox divinities. Another example is during the
15th century when the printing press was created, certain books or writings were not allowed to be ...

Today however it has become more controversial as new music and movies are coming to light. Some
disagree with the lyrics that are being said. An example is in 1988 when the music group N.W.A
released their 2nd album which featured the song F*** the Police. This song spread across the nation
and raised some eyebrows. While on tour the group was told by California police to not perform the
song at the next concert, however the group performed the song the police fired up the building and
the whole group was taken into custody. Many believed that the music was inappropriate and crossing
the line, but their lyrics expressed what their life was like in Compton. This is just one example of
how people think censorship should have even more of an effect on everyday life. Though the song
offended the police it was made to show the discrimination they had faced as individuals. Many did
not agree, but the group believed it was their God given right to express their beliefs and opinions

Confinement For Juveniles
Alternatives to secure detention and confinement for juveniles are approaches that help avoid
juveniles from being detained in a secure detention facility or a confinement facility. Secure detention
facilities hold juveniles who are entering into the juvenile justice system generally for two specific
reasons. Those reasons are to ensure the juvenile will be in attendance for all court hearings and for
the safeguard of the community from future crimes. Confinement facilities house juveniles that have
been adjudicated and assigned to the custody of correctional facilities. Secure detention and
confinement of juveniles tend to do more harm than good. Research has shown that secure detention
and confinement facilities have a negative effect on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, placing a juvenile in secure facilities hinders the juvenile s developmental process, leads
to depression, and increases the risk of suicide or other self harm. Placed in detention or a confinement
facility, the juvenile is cut off from conventional opportunities for growth, and any positive ties he or
she may have had in the community are severed (Alternatives to Detention and Confinement, 2005).
There are several alternatives to secure detention and confinement for juveniles such as home
detention and electronic monitoring, community based programs, and residential placements. Home
detention may require the juvenile to remain home at all times, except to and from school or work.
They are supervised daily along with random drug test and counseling. Electronic monitoring is done
with an electronic device placed either on the ankle

Mark And Luke Essay
LUKE
As I stated before some scholars believe that Luke uses Mark as his soul source when composing this
story in his Gospel . If we assume that fact to be true then there should be no reason that there are
differences between the stories, but that is not the case. Luke makes changes to the narrative, and
some of those changes could cause the reader to see a different focus of the text. Luke Johnson points
out that in his Gospel Luke cleans up the language of the text making the story flow better but in
doing this he also omits several of the descriptive details that Mark uses, and these omitted details
may make the actions taking place in the text seem weaker . This means that when Luke chose to
clean up the language of the story from Mark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this verse Matthew uses interesting grammar he says and suddenly the whole herd rushed down the
steep bank into the sea and perished in the water. (NRSV) This is grammatically interesting because
the word rushed is a singular verb, and perished is a plural verb . France says that unlike the narrative
in Mark, and Luke Matthew does this to emphasize that the swine and the demons were both killed . I
think that this ties in well to the idea that Matthew chose to focus on Jesus s power over the
supernatural instead of this being a miracle that he preformed in gentile

Developmental Prosopagnosia
Developmental prosopagnosia (DP) is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder that affects ~2%
of population. In contrast with acquired prosopagnosia, it occurs in the absence of brain damage. The
insufficiency in face recognition of people with DP can lead to chronic anxiety and stress, despite the
presence of normal intelligence and vision. Ocular scanning patterns can provide valuable information
on the nature of the facial recognition deficits in DP. Visual scanpath can differ depending on stimuli
and the goal oriented subject. One of the most accepted theories on face processing involves holistic
face perception in which faces are recognized as a conceptual whole, by integration of spatial relations
among facial components and featural information into one representation. Inversion effect is a
valuable tool in studying DP. According to double mode hypothesis, faces are processed by a specific

A visual scanpath can be used to determine whether the person was previously exposed to a certain
face, even in the absence of explicit recognition. Such effect can be seen by decreased number of
fixations and sampling of fewer regions due to prior experience of an observer. Previous studies, have
shown that DPs do not always show evidence of covert recognition. It is not clear whether DPs have
internal representations of faces and the pathways connecting them are damaged or whether they do
not posses any facial representations. (Bate). The difference between scanning saccades while viewing
famous and novel faces can provide evidence for any residual memories that can be intact. Some
researchers argue that patients with developmental prosopagnosia should not exhibit covert
recognition since they DPs have defective facial processing since childhood and facial memories rely
on making memories(Bate). Such is not true for patients that have acquired

Why Did The Soviet Union Fail
At the beginning of the Atomic Age, the Soviet Union was perhaps one of the greatest superpowers in
the world. By 1991, it had completely collapsed, splitting into 15 independent states, each with their
own unique national and cultural identities. There were a multitude of factors that led to the Soviet
Union s downfall. Economic stagnation, anti communist sentiment, and nationalist movements finally
brought the collapse of communism in the Soviet Union.
When Mikhail Gorbachev became Secretary of the Communist Party, he had to deal with an ailing and
frail Soviet Union. The country had entered a state of serious economic decline and the Soviet people,
discontent with their political party, looked to Gorbachev to solve their problems. Spurred by patriotic
duty, Gorbachev introduced democratic reforms known as perestroika and glasnost. These sought to
free businesses and Soviet peoples from harsh government regulation and censorship, respectively.
While Gorbachev believed these policies would strengthen the Soviet government, this was not the
case. Perestroika did not do anything to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As said by Mark R. Beissinger in Nationalism and the Collapse of Soviet Communism , By spring and
summer of 1989, large scale nationalist demonstrations involving hundreds of thousands of
participants had spread across republics and became a relatively frequent affair...The collapse of
communism in Eastern Europe enormously accelerated. 6 After glasnost, people of differing ethnic
identities and religions, who were once united under the tenets of Soviet communism, now felt
disconnected and alienated from one another. These people sought to create nationalist movements
and define their country on their own accords, rather than live under a philosophy that did not apply to
them.7 Considering how rapidly they spread, these nationalist movements sped the fall of Soviet

Negative Effects Of Korea
From 1910 to 1945, when Japan surrendered after its defeat in World War II, Korea was a colony of
Japan during Japan s pursuit towards domination of Asia. Japan s intent was to erase the Korean
national identity. According to a BBC World Service Poll conducted in 2014, 79% of South Koreans
view Japan s influence negatively, and 15% express a positive view, making South Korea, behind
China, the second country with the most negative feelings of Japan in the world. Among many of the
hardships and humiliations suffered by Koreans during this period, Japan s occupation in Korea
affected their education, communications, culture, government, and women negativity. First off,
Korean education was negatively affected by the Japanese colonization. Before Japan s colonization,
Korea s education system was swiftly improving. Education had been important in Korea since the
14th century. In 1907, missionaries ran 508 primary schools and 22 high schools. Japan s colonization
destroyed much of this system. By 1917, the number of schools run by missionaries was halved and
by 1937 only 34 remained. In 1939, the Japanese governor instructed that students should speak in
Japanese and not be allowed to speak Korean inside or outside of school. Also, Korean families were
forced to change their names to Japanese names and if they refused, they were prohibited from
enrolling in school, thus 84% of Korean families changed their names by 1940. This made learning
harder because only Japanese language

Lady Macbeth s Sleepwalking Essay
Lady Macbeth s sleepwalking scene from Act V, Scene I was interpreted very well from both Artus
Scheiner s painting and Michael Lynch s stage adaptation. Lynch s stage adaptation of the play
provides a great sense of connection with Lady Macbeth. The dimmed lights and the darkened stage
gave the scene such an intense and eerie feeling. Scheiner s painting presents Lady Macbeth as scary
with her long black hair that covers most of her face and her mouth wide open. Her being dressed in
white and holding a lit candlestick, brings a bit light to such a dark painting. Although Scheiner s
painting is very detailed with the darkness of her hair, her white nightgown, and the dark colors of the
background, Lynch s play adaptation gives a better understanding and ... Show more content on

Lynch s stage interpretation of Lady Macbeth s sleepwalking scene in Macbeth s Shakespeare
provides a clear understanding of the scene with detailed colors, tones, figures, and landscapes.
Characterization: Lady Macbeth is sleepwalking/talking. The Doctor has seen this before but has no
idea what to do. Theme: Darkness is dangerous. Use of Language: Yet here s a spot. Shakespeare is
telling us that Lady Macbeth still sees blood on her hands from her involvement in the murder.
Shakespeare wants the audience to see that Lady Macbeth s actions led her to guilty sleepwalking and
rubbing her hands to wash the bloody spots away. In this scene, Shakespeare s decision to make Lady
Macbeth sleepwalk makes her look like she subconsciously regrets her part in Duncan s murder. Lady
Macbeth s downfall leads to the theme, Darkness is Dangerous. Artus Scheiner illustrates Lady
Macbeth as somewhat scary by giving her black long hair that covers most of her face and her mouth
wide open. Lady Macbeth is dressed in white and carrying a candlestick, which gives the darkened
painting some light to

These two couples must have a reason to have done this because no one wakes up one morning and
decides to kill people knowing it s hard to take someone s life and cover up the tracks. In our research,
we first had to determine if any of these killers had a rough childhood or any mental conditions. So,
we did and we found out in one of our couple killers, both partners had some types of rough/mental
lifestyle. In our other couple one of the partners had a rough childhood and the other was perfectly
fine had no hiccups in their childhood or family problems. We ended up looking at a whole bunch of
articles comparing words and sentences, finding out every bit of information we could about the
couples. We found differences like how the lonely heart killers used a business to commit their
killings, but ken and barbie used different ways like they played an act and they used their killings for
personal affections or to fulfil their so called fantasies of darkness. But why did they feel the need to
take someone else s life to fulfil their needs? We may ask, the answer is I don t know. It could have
been a mental state or the love that brought them together, but it wasn t something that we could give
a name. They must have thought it was okay in society and maybe they it was because they had no
one to stop them. They re

How Did Texas Fight
65,000 Texans During the Civil War 65,000 Texans served in the Confederate Military, but why? On
March 2, 1861, Texas seceded from the Union, and Governor Sam Houston refused to take an oath of
loyalty to the Confederacy and he resigned. (Background Essay) Nearly one fifth of the soldiers that
fought, or between 12,000 and 15,000 of them died. (Background Essay) Then why did Texans fight?
Texans fought in the Civil War because of states rights, love for Texas, and for slavery. In the Civil
War Texans fought because of states rights. President Lincoln stated, No state upon its mere motion,
can lawfully get out of the Union. (Document C) However, O.M. Roberts, president of the Texas
Secession Convention, disagreed. He believed that each state was independent and had the right to

Texas believed they should be able to own slaves as much of the South did. In Texas the slave
population was 182,566. (Document A) Most of the South relied on agriculture and had slaves
working for them. In Texas 29% of white families owned slaves, and slaves made up 30% of the Texas
population. (Document A) Another way to tell that Texas fought for slavery is because Texans payed a
lot of money for slaves. Approximately $1,200 for one healthy male slave (Document A) They needed
more than one slave and this increased the total. Some people believed that slaves would benefit
slaves and free man. (Document B) While some justified slaves by the experience of mankind and the
revealed will of the Almighty Creator . (Document B) Slaves cost a lot of money and without them it
would be hard to tend to the land, so owners would try to protect them from he Yanks. For example
sending them up mountains to hide. (Document D) They fought for slaves to maintain their lifestyle.

A Research On Human And Animal Studies
My dissertation research has provided successful evidence of non pharmacological approach to
personal precision medicine. Human and animal studies both in vitro and in vivo have provided
potential mechanotransduction pathways underlying bone regeneration and remodeling. The relation
of profiling gene expression between human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) and
macrophages provides profound understandings of bone homeostasis starting in bone marrow niches.
The use of two photon confocal microscope has provided visual evidence on mechanical
modifications under the low intensity vibration measured by atomic force microscope. The RNA
interference technique of knocking down biogenes has confirmed the possibility of the
mechanotransduction pathway involving cellular interactions of physical structures inside the cell and
nucleus. My successful pathway has shown that the orientation of cytoskeleton controls the
programmable differentiation fates of multipotent human bone marrow and adipose derived MSCs.
These results could lead to a novel treatment of osteoporosis and diabetic patients using stem cell
precision medicine.
My several research on the regenerative cardiovasculatures using hUVECs on biosynthetic fibrinogen
and the Penn State artificial heart using hCSCs on biomedical segmented polyurethanes has been
successful in providing alternative potentials for patients with severe heart diseases. Biological

Determination of Relative Atomic Mass of Lithium
Evaluation:
In general the accuracy of the experiments was good. However with practice, the accuracy could be
improved; accuracy being how close the results are to the real answer. I think I have carried pit the
experiment as well as I possibly could at the time with the given conditions and time period allowed. I
have gained precise results from the practical. However, looking back at the analysis section, the
relative atomic mass values I found were not exactly 6.9 as presented in the periodic timetable.
Method (1) gave me 8.28; a difference of 1.38 and method (2) gave me 7.37, a difference of 0.43 to
the real/reference value. Therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When there is a colour change in the solution, we are supposed to close the tap. However, the colour
does not change throughout the solution as soon as there is a colour change. Therefore this will have
caused in concurrencies throughout, as the aim is NOT to put excess acid to the solution titrated, the
idea is to put the EXACT amount required to neutralize the solution. I also found that the reacted
solution sometimes returned to a slight pink colour even after turning completely colourless. Thus this
caused inevitable error.
Accuracy and reliability:
In method (1) the procedure was very accurate; the equipment used is very accurate, however as
mentioned before, the gas lost when replacing the bung caused a degree of inaccuracy. As shown by
the results, with the relative atomic mass found to be +1.38 over.
In method (2) not only were the results accurate but also precise. The final relative atomic mass
coming out as only +0.43 over the reference value proves a high degree of accuracy. Looking at the
results table, the three accurate titrations fall within 0.1cm3 and 0.3cm3 of each other, which is a very
concurrent set of results. Clearly method (1) and method (2) differ in accuracy and precision. Method
(1) is clearly less accurate and precise as the gas collected from the reaction of lithium and water was

Reverend Dimmesdale In The Scarlett Letter
When people read a story, they most likely can relate to what happens to the main characters with
situations they went through or have heard of. If they cannot relate to what happens, they at least
know the problem that the character is struggling with or is trying to overcome. In life to get past a
problem, people might have to change or develop to figure out a solution. In the book, The Scarlet
Letter, a woman named Hester Prynne goes against her husband, Roger Chillingworth, and commits a
sin that is forbidden in this community. Reverend Dimmesdale is the man who was a part of this sin,
but he does not want to confess. The result of her sin was her daughter, Pearl, who is known around
town as the devil child. For violating the law of adultery, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hester has changed in so many different ways. First, Hester starts the story looking very ladylike, but
as the story progresses she becomes to look manly. Some of the townspeople believed she had cut her
hair off because she started always having it up. She starts to look ladylike again when she is in the
forest with Dimmesdale. Hester said she had to stay in Boston to face what she had done but being
with Dimmesdale changed her mind. She thought Dimmesdale and her could move away from all of
their sin `and start fresh. Another reason why Hester wanted to move away with Dimmesdale is so
Pearl can have a father figure in her life. In vast London or, surely, in Germany...thou wouldst be
beyond his power and knowledge (Hawthorne 218). Another way Hester grows is her choice of going
with the Black Man. Hester would have gone with the Black Man to get away from all her troubles.
Since they did not take Pearl away from her, Hester stayed and Pearl changed her view on life. Had
they taken her from me, I would have willingly have gone with thee into the forest (Hawthorne 129).
One of the changes that occur since she has gotten the Scarlet Letter is her view of people. She
understands and has the knowledge of other s sins but the downfall is she loses faith. The last change
she goes through is her needing to wear the Scarlet Letter. Townspeople say she may, she does take it
off privately in the forest (Johnson 133). At first, Hester believes she must wear the Scarlet Letter and
if it gains another meaning or just falls off then it is okay not to wear it. Eventually, the forest is a
place where she feels safe and away from the rules of the community so she feels it is okay to be able
to take it off. There are many more changes or growths that Hester has went through but can people
really relate to

To make matters worse, she is an only child. Dad is Ashes father. He s a big dreamer, hopes that things go right, and he tries to stay calm in bad situations. He likes to see the glass half full. Mom overactive loves to plan and think things through sees the glass half empty. Ash took the money for her dad because her dad had done so much for her, he would get the money back in one week, and nothing could go wrong in the time. Ashes might believe that she needs to pay her dad back for the things he s done for her. I d been seeing him Tuesdays for almost two years at that point. (Pfeffer,1). When her dad had been taking Ash under his wing for two years she has to want to pay him back somehow. When Ashes is describing dad she tends to get defensive when he forgets about mom and Ashes Or got all of his favourite kinds of Chinese and none of mom s and mine (Pfeffer,1). Even though Ashes gets defensive. Ash would always want to pay dad back, for the things he s done for her and mom. When Ashes is in school, with dad it seems that he is always supportive. • 3. Education And Social Economic Reward We have all heard the expression that education is the key to success. . It makes sense, right? The more education you have, the more successful you will be. In some ways that is true. The education we get prepares us for our future and our future outcomes. After all, there is a direct correlation between education and social economic reward and that people with high education usually live happier, healthier, and wealthier lives. Those individuals who obtain higher education and the skills that they learn will later lead the individual to work in high status and high paying jobs. We assume that they make an astonishing amount of money and everyone lives happily ever after right? In our world today the American Dream is lost, is just that, a dream. We are taught that if you play by the rules, work hard, apply yourself and do well in school and that will open doors for you, and you will be successful and all that other crap we are told in school , TV, news, radio and practically everywhere else. Although everyone deserves the right to education and the key to success the truth of the matter is that education inequalities exist and not everyone is getting the same level of education or the same opportunities either. The group in America that obtains the best education is the upper class while the lower class students are left with lower odds of education. One major roadblock in your dreams for success and education is what sociologists know as the conflict theory. Karl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. I Hate Crime Essay LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender. Most recently the community added on QI to represent those who identify as queer and intersex individuals. The first hate crime acts date back to 1969 when police raided the gay bar Stonewall Inn in New York City. This led to riots conducted by the LGBT community. The police brutality did not stop there. A little less than a year later a gay man, Howard Efland, checked into a Los Angeles hotel under a made up name was beat up by the Los Angeles Police Department (Faderman Timmons, 2006). One of the most famous acts occurred on November 27, 1978. Harvey Milk, an openly gay San Francisco city supervisor and Mayor George Moscone (who was not a gay man) were assassinated by a political rival, Dan White, at San Francisco City Hall. Milk was the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in California. Deep into his office term he became an activist for the gay community, passing many gay rights ordinance for the city. He was an icon and a role model in the LGBTQI community before his untimely death (Shilts, 2008). Unfortunately, the crimes didn t stop there, in fact, they only seemed to worsen. Green Consumerism Literary Submission University of Waterloo Faculty of Environment ENBUS 306: Research Design Literary Review and Submission on Green Consumerism Prepared By: Wendy Ngai Student ID: 20351676 3B Environment and Business October 02, 2012 This literary submission will take on a systematic, convergent approach in focusing on five separate articles regarding green consumerism. The five peer reviewed articles which have been selected for this paper have been placed in the appendix of this submission in the order in which they appear in the bibliography. A key point which is continuously brought up within each article is that environmental consumerism is becoming more and more prevalent in today s society (Mazar and Zhong, 2009). Although there ... The article also identifies the green consumer as often very skeptical of green advertising in general, which results in their own adoptive means of conducting alternative research so that they are well informed prior to making a purchase (Shrum et. Al, 1995). As well, Auger s article provided supporting evidence to this point by restating that active information seekers were often more apt to adopt socially ethical products (Auger et al, 2003). Several types of research methods were used to reach these conclusions, including the use of primary data collected through ethical disposition surveys and choice experiment surveys (Auger et al, 2003). An extensive amount of secondary research was also pulled together, with some data sets being analyzed to determine the conclusive results (Shrum et. Al, 1995). However, it is noted within each paper that there are gaps which exist within each article s research design. For example, some surveys were only targeted at a certain demographics, leading to a relatively homogeneous study groups (Haytko and Matulich, 2007), while other data sets did not reflect the general population, as some secondary data either over represented or underrepresented certain populations, resulting in an incomprehensive analysis of data (Shrum et. Al, 1995). As a result, gaps can be observed in both the research questions conducted within these articles, as well as the

The process of genetically modifying foods has been tested and researched and in recent years has been more widely used by giant corporations and some farmers. Scientists have altered seeds and grown food synthetically. The government says that GMO s are not harmful and has publicly stated that they feel it will solve world hunger. In order for me to come up with a clearer solution, I feel the public needs to see the results of four different crops and four animal farms over another ten year span. One from Monsanto Corporation, one organic, on a typical farm with non modified seeds and animals and one genetically modified farmer grown with good soil , good water and no or non harmful pesticides. For ten months, I had been practicing law in the city and enjoying my job a lot until that fateful day when my fiancée ended our engagement. I had a very important meeting with a prominent executive name Brian Ross, who had hired our firm to represent his little sister in an International criminal case. Altomonte The article stats off with talking about the importance of reducing the emissions that are emitted by, and go into building buildings. The article explains the history of global warming, and the science behind the basics of climate change and warming. It stateZs how humans have changed the chemistry of the atmosphere through the combustion of fossil fuels and living matter, bringing about the prospect of global alterations and shifts in the whole terrestrial climate system(Altomonte,2008,pg.97). Climate change is expected to negatively affect the future of most developing countries, increasing the pressure on available resources that are associated with urbanisation and industrialisation(102). With these affects in mind, Altomonte explains the mitigation and adaptations strategies to mitigate the possible consequences of climate change. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new design strategies is necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well as do not negatively impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be included, inclduing physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding of the necessary features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic and cultural values (106). • 15. The Millennium Development Goals One of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) was the focus on finding ways to eradicate poverty and hunger especially in under developed and developing economies. However, the banking crisis and very recently the slump in oil prices have brought a new twist; as developed economies began to struggle with poverty and of weak economy due to a large portfolio of debt as seen in some EU countries. Fifteen years later, the MDG goals is far from being actualised as under developed countries are still under developed and developing countries are developing at different rates with the likes of Malaysia and especially Brazil making bigger strides. According to a survey on the Brazil economy, Haner (2011) showed that a major contribution to the growth of the Brazilian economy is due to the impact of the small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs). It is estimated that the SMEs account for 20% of the Gross domestic product (GDP) and 54% of total formal employment in the country (Office of Evaluation and Oversight [OVE] 2014). SMEs also play an important role in the economic development in Malaysia accounting for 33% of GDP, 58% of employment and 19% of export (Hashim 2015). There is a higher survival rate of SMEs in Malaysia with 97.3% of business establishments recognised as SMEs (Khalique 2011; Lim Xavier 2015). The above examples highlights the importance of SMEs in helping a developing country move in the right direction. The research proposal is focussed on how Nigeria a ... Our Lady Of Guadalupe Our Lady of the Liberation There are many names for Our Lady of Guadalupe like the Virgin of Guadalupe, and Tonantzin, but they all mean the goddess that protected the people and came to Juan Diego. Over thousands of years the story of Tonantzin, what the native Aztec people called their Virgin Mother Mary, has been passed down and celebrated in the Mexican culture for all of the good and protection that they believe she has brought them. In Rodolfo Corky Gonzales epic poem Yo Soy Joaquin he references this Aztec goddess, Tonantzin because she is a religious figure, she was considered a native and she is a symbol of independence. To begin, Our Lady of Guadalupe, or the Virgin Mary, has always been present in the Catholic Church but was first seen in 1531 ( Our Lady of Guadalupe ). • 20. Modernist Movement in Ford s Good Soldier and Woolf s... Ford Madox Ford and Virginia Woolf were major contributors to the modernist movement. They, as well as others (such as James Joyce), were trying something new, by breaking down the boundaries of traditional writing. Ford s Good Soldier and Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway are two particular examples of the genre. These novels were not well received in their own time. As time went on, however, the attitudes of the literary world changed and were able to finally see these works for what they really are exemplary pieces of fiction, certainly worth merit. Edward Ashburnham is guilty of the very same things, yet he is still regarded as good people. He also wonders at the meaning of the narrator s nearly phobic concern with Catholicism, or of the way in which his slurs at Leonora are justified by her attachment to that persuasion (46). If the implication is that John Dowell is crazy, Schorer is failing to see other psychological reasons why a man such as Dowell would think this way. It is evident that our narrator has not fully processed all of the events before he begins to tell of them. In addition, Dowell obviously wants to continue thinking highly of Ashburnham the good soldier, and this completes John s psychological quandary. At the very least, Schorer recognizes the merit of The Good Soldier, and his essay appears to understand the deliberate complexities of the novel. Censorship is the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are offensive, happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. If we assume that fact to be true then there should be no reason that there are differences between the stories, but that is not the case. Luke makes changes to the narrative, and some of those changes could cause the reader to see a different focus of the text. Luke Johnson points out that in his Gospel Luke cleans up the language of the text making the story flow better but in doing this he also omits several of the descriptive details that Mark uses, and these omitted details may make the actions taking place in the text seem weaker . The final relative atomic mass coming out as only +0.43 over the reference value proves a high degree of accuracy. Looking at the results table, the three accurate titrations fall within 0.1cm3 and 0.3cm3 of each other, which is a very concurrent set of results. Clearly method (1) and method (2) differ in accuracy and precision. Method (1) is clearly less accurate and precise as the gas collected from the reaction of lithium and water was not ... • 33. Reverend Dimmesdale In The Scarlett Letter When people read a story, they most likely can relate to what happens to the main characters with situations they went through or have heard of. If they cannot relate to what happens, they at least know the problem that the character is struggling with or is trying to overcome. In life to get past a problem, people might have to change or develop to figure out a solution. In the book, The Scarlet Letter, a woman named Hester Prynne goes against her husband, Roger Chillingworth, and commits a sin that is forbidden in this community. First, Hester starts the story looking very ladylike, but as the story progresses she becomes to look manly. Some of the townspeople believed she had cut her hair off because she started always having it up. She starts to look ladylike again when she is in the forest with Dimmesdale. Hester said she had to stay in Boston to face what she had done but being with Dimmesdale changed her mind. She thought Dimmesdale and her could move away from all of their sin `and start fresh. Another reason why Hester wanted to move away with Dimmesdale is so Pearl can have a father figure in her life. In vast London or, surely, in Germany...thou wouldst be beyond his power and knowledge (Hawthorne 218). Another way Hester grows is her choice of going with the Black Man. Hester would have gone with the Black Man to get away from all her troubles. Since they did not take Pearl away from her, Hester stayed and Pearl changed her view on life. Had they taken her from me, I would have willingly have gone with thee into the forest (Hawthorne 129). One of the changes that occur since she has gotten the Scarlet Letter is her view of people. She understands and has the knowledge of other s sins but the downfall is she loses faith. The last change she goes through is her needing to wear the Scarlet Letter. Townspeople say she may, she does take it off privately in the forest (Johnson 133). At first, Hester believes she must wear the Scarlet Letter and if it gains another meaning or just falls off then it is okay not to wear it. Eventually, the forest is a place where she feels safe and away from the rules of the community so she feels it is okay to be able to take it off. There are many more changes or growths that Hester has went through but can people really relate to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
