The Rhetorical Analysis Of Viva La Vida
Titanium This song relates specifically to the scene at the end where he stands up for himself by
refusing to give back his signature. They attempt to coax him into handing it over and signing it in
order to convict the other people holding out. Then at the last moment he takes a stand for himself and
the others by defying the court and being hanged... He let there empty threats ricochet of him as he
stands defiant against the evil and corruption of the court. When he answers, I did not when asked if
he saw anyone else with him, he is standing up for for his friends and protecting them. This parallels to
the general tone of the song and strongly relates to the lyrics, I m criticized but all your bullets
ricochet You shoot me down, but I get up I m bulletproof nothing to lose Fire away, fire away .
Viva La Vida Viva La Vida is a song of remembrance for a time when the King of France had real
authority and now he is washed up and no longer respected. This directly reflects the loss of authority
that occurs throughout the story as Hale loses respect. Hale goes from the de facto authority on
witchcraft and a chief member of the Salem court... to a person who s pleas and reasoning is
dismissed. This is shown in two quotes that represent him at the beginning and the end; these quotes
are, There be no unnatural causes here. Tell him I have sent for Reverend Hale of Beverly, and Mister
Hale will surely confirm that and Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more. I will not

Global Financial Crisis Case Study
Building it into the system: Firoozye
One observed solution to the realised growth of Uncertainty (of all colours, up to and including
Knightian, radical, Uncertainty) is to attempt to account for it within existent systems, whilst resisting
paradigmatic change of the system environment as a whole. Through examination of the 2016 work of
Firoozye and Ariff , Managing Uncertainty, Mitigating Risk, the logic, justification, and tools of one
such approach will be elucidated.
Firoozye and Ariff diagnose, like many others, that the systems prior to the Global Financial Crisis
were not set up in such a fashion that they could handle when events didn t fall in the correct
probability distributions (i.e., that the highly unlikely did, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Haldane, Hayek s insights laid bare the perils of over active policy if one assumed omniscience ,
throwing the need for radical epistemological reconfiguration intp sharp relief. Here, they highlight
instead his description of uncertainties caused by the dispersal of knowledge . This is not Knightian
Uncertainty, nor does it claim to be, but it is pertinent that this is the groundwork laid. The battle to
eliminate Knightian Uncertainty at the top starts with that of collation and gathering of information to
reduce less pernicious Uncertainty at the bottom.
Central to this is the urge to classify, to create taxonomies so that, even in the instance where deep
Uncertainty does emerge, everything else that can be known, is. This is a wider view than many others
here, implicit in whose work is the assumption that Knightian Uncertainty is a constant, rather than a
symptom of particularly complex environments. It is only through this mapping of classes of
unknowns, and the gradual expansion of information about them, that Firoozye and Ariff aver we are
able to manage Uncertainty and prepare for foreseeable outcomes
Their demands on the traditional risk management methodologies in finance are broad, if not novel:

Esperanza Rising Quotes
The main character of the book, Esperanza Rising, is a young girl named Esperanza. The story begins
in Aguascalientes, Mexico on a beautiful ranch owned by Esperanza s father. However, Esperanza and
her family are forced to immigrate to America. Throughout the journey, Esperanza reveals several of
her personality traits. All of these traits can be represented by symbols. First, a bag of coins can
symbolize Esperanza s selfishness and arrogance in the beginning of the story. I chose this because a
selfish and conceited person would want more of something and believe he or she is superior to other
people. Esperanza s selfishness shines through on page 69 where the author writes, Mona, she said,
and reached up to touch the doll. Esperanza quickly jerked it away and put it back in the valise,
covering it with the old clothes. Also, her arrogance is shown on page 67 when Esperanza is boarding
a train filled with peasants and she says, We can t travel in this car. It s not clean and the people don t
look trustworthy. These quotes clearly suggests that Esperanza dislikes sharing her possessions with
the less fortunate, wants more for herself, and believes that she is too ... Show more content on

Her hard work can be signified by a shovel. I chose this object because many jobs that involve
shovels, such as constructing, require great effort and persistence. Esperanza shows her great work
ethic on page 166 when she says, I could work in the fields or in the sheds and Melina and Irene have
already offered to watch Pepe and Lupe. Her hard work is also displayed on page 182 where the
author writes, She put her hands under the faucet, rinsed off the avocado, and patted them dry. They
felt better, but still looked red and weathered. She took another avocado, cut it in half, swung the knife
into the pit and pulled it from the flesh. These quotes suggest that Esperanza is willing to work hard to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Intellectual Property Rights
Intellectual property rights are a bundle of exclusive legal rights over creations of the mind, both
artistic and commercial. These rights give statutory expression to the moral and economic rights of
creators in their creations. Intellectual property rights safeguard creators and other producers of
intellectual goods and services by granting them certain time limited rights to control the use made of
those productions. These rights also promote creativity and the dissemination and application of its
results and encourage fair trading, which also contributes to economic and social development. . With

Every year 14 million people die due to infectious diseases that to mostly in developing countries.
Factors such as poverty and lack of access to health services worsen the situation. The high prices of
medicines has made it inaccessible to various developing countries The high prices are a result of

Mass Media Influence On American Culture
Major developments in the evolution of Mass Media
The new era of technology led to major developments in the evolution of mass media, worldwide. In
our society, we originally communicated orally before the Internet and wireless devices existed.
Individuals relied on traditional forms of mass media, such as the television, radio, newspapers, and
magazines, to attain knowledge of the outside world. Thereafter, the development of new forms mass
media evolved, and we were introduced to the Internet and other wireless communication devices such
as IPads and tablets, smart phones and social media sites. Regardless of the rise and fall in popularity
of certain forms of mass media, the evolution of mass media influenced the American culture greatly.
Mass Media influence on American culture
The evolution of mass media has affected our social institutions: family, religion, morality and
education, on an unprecedented scale. For most of us in the American culture, the new forms of mass
media are entwined with both of our personal and professional lifestyles. Understanding how the
development of these forms of mass media has been and continues to influence our American culture
is vital. It will help us appreciate the role media plays in our life and will also help us to be more
informed as citizens, consumers, and employees. Barnett, 2004 noted that The Internet is the decisive

Iago Revenge In Othello
In Othello, Iago s thoughts of himself easily described with one word: self centered. Iago thinks the
world and all those in it owe him something. He feels betrayed, mostly by all he thought were friends
and loved ones, true or not in his narcissistic mind it is. Iago sets out to get vengeance on each and
everyone that deserves it. Quiet intelligently he uses his talented, manipulative ways to create himself
a great reputation of being a loyal soldier and a friend, but is even better known as an honest captain.
Using this façade without any remorse, Iago seeks revenge by using everyone s insecurities to break
them down one by one, turning each against the other, in order to have his bittersweet revenge.
Iago initiates his plot by speaking with one of his pawns Roderigo, who he knows could be the key
player in the role of harming both, Othello and Cassio. Iago knows that Roderigo still loves
Desdemona, even after her marriage to Othello. As a result, he devises a lie to make Roderigo think
Desdemona doesn t really love Othello and in actuality, she is having an affair with Cassio. Iago
conveniences Roderigo that if he kills Cassio, he could win back the heart of Desdemona. At the same
time, Iago is testing Othello s insecurities by telling him the same malicious lies. Iago feels he is on
the path of revenge towards two men he hates and his very pawn, who would just be another casualty
in his war.

Symbolism In Everything That Rises Must Converge By OConnor
In Everything that Rises Must Converge , it appears to be what is a simple story. It seems that O
Connor has written this story which we can easily read and understand without having any struggle
with abstract religion symbolism. Mrs. Chestny holds a different opinion about it she thinks that all
blacks should rise, but on their own side of the fence. Because she offers a penny to a small black
child, in the point of view of her son she is. With all the humiliation that Julian gets by a child s
mother. Julian says that the black women that hits Mrs. Chestny with her purse represents the whole
colored race which no longer take your condescending pennies. Julian also recognizes that the old
manners are obsolete and also that his mother s graciousness is not worth a damn. As well he who
begins to realize, that as we watch his mother die from the blow that the world is not that simple as we
thought he was. As they say it is not a world in which everything is either black or white. That is when
we realize that Everything that Rises Must Converge is not in its entirely a simple story. In the
characters we Julian who is a recent college graduate and he lives with his mother. As his dream of

What Is The Myth Of Sisyphus
The bus was silent, no one daring to speak. We had just suffered the first loss in more than 10 years to
one of the competing schools to make it to the state tournament for tennis. This bus ride home from
the tournament in Green Bay gave me sufficient time to reflect on my matches and on the sport as a
whole.
Tennis is a sport of repetition. You play points over and over again until a match is complete, matches
until a tournament is complete, and then the whole process repeats a couple weeks later. This
reminded me of the myth of Sisyphus. Sisyphus was a kind who upon his death was tasked with
rolling a boulder up a hill. However, as soon as he pushed the stone to the top it rolled back down to
the bottom and he had to start again. While this is seen as a punishment in the myth I see it as a
blessing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In playing tennis I am essentially Sisyphus, repeating the same process over and over for hours and
then doing it again. This is a blessing because we have the free will to associate value to something
inherently valueless and put effort and time into it to make ourselves better. So by giving Sisyphus this
task to repeat endlessly for eternity, they actually blessed him by giving him something to attach
meaning to. In the same way tennis gives me something to attach meaning to and better myself
through a game that will not improve me academically or as a person. Tennis has given me something
to work and improve at and attach meaning to which fulfills me. I have tasked myself with the
unachievable goal of perfection and it has brought me more happiness and achievement than almost

INTRODUCTION Only a few of many leaders in history have been known as being great and living
by example, as their actions and accomplishments have positively affected their intimate society or
even the world. Dr. Martin Luther King in my opinion is one of these few leaders. Martin Luther King
s addition to history has put him in a special position that is not easy to replicate in today s world.
Martin Luther King always preached in opposition to hate and anger and was often quoted saying,
There is another way... as modern as Gandhi saying through Thoreau, that non‑cooperation with evil is
as much a moral obligation as is cooperation with good. (Forbes.com, 2014) Throughout the life of
Martin Luther king he read writings from Ghandi and quoted his messages that were applicable to the
given situation at the time. Ghandi, a great leader, was one of the many positive influences King had
in his life. Being one of the greatest figures in human history just like Gandhi before him, Martin
Luther King Jr. lived a heroic and exemplary life that very assertive and courageous, but at the same
time, none violent and peaceful. Since the death of Martin Luther King, his influence is what has

Essay Evolving Biometrics
Evolving Biometrics
The terms biometrics and biometry have been used since the early 20th century. It refers to the field of
development of statistical and mathematical methods applicable to data analysis problems in the
biological sciences (Biometrics Journal.) Biometrics has been used in a variety of disciplines, in which
it serves a different function for each field. For example it has been used statistically in agricultural
field experiments to compare the harvest of different types of wheat; for the analysis of data from
human clinical experiments assessing the effectiveness of therapies for certain diseases; or for the
analysis of data from environmental studies on the effects of air and/or water pollution on the
emergence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biometrics has the promise to become an irreplaceable part of most identification systems, however it
is not yet 100% accurate. Passwords and cards (customary in government and banking conglomerates)
are no longer sufficient as a means of individual recognition; they can be shared among employees,
lost, or forgotten, on the other hand biometric distinguishers cannot be shared, copied, or misplaced.
With our technology today, biometrics can be used to reduce fraud, lead to user friendly human and
machine interface, and could consequently make our society safer.
Uses of biometry
Biometric based authentication applications include workstation, network, and domain access, single
sign on, application logon, data protection, remote access to resources, transaction security and Web
security. Biometrics can be used for positive identification; given the input biometric sample it
measures the authenticity of an individual when using an ATM, credit card, computer network login,
cell phones, medical records management, or electronic data security. Positive identification functions
place high value on being user friendly and are cost sensitive. Large scale identification determines
whether a person is in the database for an application given the input biometric sample, it requires
little human interaction and must be continuously monitored (Goldstein). Examples could include,
welfare distribution, border control, national ID cards, voter ID cards, driver s license,

Theme Of Foreshadowing In The Sixth Sense
The director M. Night Shyamalan used different methods to construct and format the theme of the
film, The Sixth Sense . He uses foreshadowing, symbolism and motif to help the viewer understand
the movie and see that it is more than what you first perceive. In The Sixth Sense a boy named Cole
Sear has a sixth sense that is haunting him at the beginning of the movie. He sees things that other
people can t see. He can also hear things that other people can t. He can see ghosts, among people as if
living like nothing ever happened. A Doctor named Dr. Malcolm Crowe tries to help Cole with his
problem until he realizes that Cole is very much like one of his other patients, Vincent Grey, who was
a boy that had the exact same symptoms. Ultimately the director uses foreshadowing, symbolism and
motif to construct the theme of communication within the film. Throughout the movie, The Sixth
Sense director M. Night Shyamala utilizes foreshadowing to hint to the viewers what will happen next
throughout the film. Foreshadowing was used as a valuable tool more than just once throughout the
motion picture. For example, in the beginning Vincent Grey breaks into Dr. Malcolm Crowe s home.
Vincent Grey was a former patient of Crowe s. Throughout this emotional scene Vincent tells him that
he had failed him and then Vincent shoots Crowe and himself. Dr. Crowe gets shot in the kidney. That
would be a fatal wound to anyone. Although the audience doesn t know that, because that was only a
flashback. The movie then moves to the next fall and it appears that Crowe is alive. This example
indicates that Dr. Crowe is a ghost himself. Another instance of foreshadowing is Cole Sear is the only
person to speak to Dr.Crowe throughout the film. Even though Dr. Crowe speaks and tries to
communicate with other people, no one speaks back. Dr. Crowe only sees what he wants to see. This
is also an indication Dr. Crowe is dead. As the film went on one may notice that Dr. Crowe only wore
an undershirt, a shirt over it and a coat. And he switches all the time, but he never wears anything
besides that.Living people usually change their clothes. Another foreshadow is in the beginning, when
Cole speaks to Dr. Crowe in the church he spoke in

Nacl Affects on Enzymatic Reaction Essay
The Effects that 1%, 4%, and 16% Sodium Chloride (NaCl) Concentration Had on the Rate of
Reaction of Catecholase Enzymes in a Potato (Solanum tuberosum).
Abstract
Enzymes are a key component of a cell. They make chemical reactions happen faster because they
lower the activation energy to make the chemical reaction occur. Most of the time, it is best if enzymes
produce as efficiently as possible, but in some cases it is better if they do not, when dealing with
potatoes (Solanum tuberosum). If the catecholase enzyme of the potato is hindered, it is less likely to
brown when it is cooked. To see how efficient sodium chloride is at slowing down these enzymes, the
experiment measured the rate of reaction when the enzymes were exposed ... Show more content on

There are three factors that will alter an enzyme: temperature, pH and salt. All three will change the
structure of the enzyme by denaturation and rendering it useless when a drastic change occurs from
levels that are normal. A slight alteration can speed up reaction to certain saturation or slow the
process of reaction. Enzymes have a substrate: the substrate for the catecholase enzyme is catechol
and oxygen. When the substrate combines with the catecholase enzyme of a potato, the product is a
reddish brown color called benzoquinone. This product is what turns fruits and vegetables brown
(Briggs and others 2010). Therefore, slowing or stopping the process of would increase shelf life of
some food, or at least make the foods appearance appetizing much longer. The equation for this
chemical reaction is:
Enzyme Substrate Product Catechol + Oxygen Catecholase Benzoquinone The hindering of the
Benzoquinone could alter the production, and could lower the cost of produce. Nathalie Santis and
others (2005) preformed an experiment to see the effects of various NaCl solutions on thin slices of
potato that were fried. The potatoes were sliced 3mm thick and 30mm in diameter, fourteen slices in
all. All fourteen were blanched at 70°C for five minutes. Seven were placed in pure water at 26°C and
the other seven went into several NaCl solutions (0.6%, 1.2%, 1.8%, 2.4%, 3.0%, 6.0% and

Train s Journey And Transportation
train s journey and that why a lot of regional trains and international passenger trains have food
service cars and sleeping cars along with the passenger cars.
Since the 40s of the 20th century, the number of railway passengers in many of the industrial cities has
declined, and that s because of the increased demand and the use of cars and planes. However Railway
systems are the most common means of travel by passengers in general in Japan and Switzerland.
Shipping and cargo trains:
Most of the income of the Railway systems in many countries from transporting and shipping goods
as shipping goods through railways for long distances is cheaper than any other shipping method of
land transportation. It can be stated that shipping trains in the past Soviet Union transported the largest
amount of goods in the world, and then comes in the second place the United States then China.
Company trains also transport a lot of goods, as each train holds and transports the products and goods
of its own company.
4.1. Benefits of train systems
Dependable The best preferred standpoint of the railroad transport is that it is the most tried and true
method of transport as it is the slightest influenced by climate conditions, for example, downpours,
haze and so on contrasted with different methods of transport.
Better Organized The rail transport is more organized than whatever other type of transport. It has

Competitive sports are good for young children, you can develop many life skills and can help
children maintain a healthy lifestyle , that is what was said by parents and children who did have a

Characteristics Of Bilbo In The Hobbit
Bilbo Baggins is the last being in The Hobbit to be considered a monster. J.R.R. Tolkien made sure to
depict Bilbo as an innocent, loving, and merciful being. However the reader cannot deny the fact that
he possesses some characteristics of a monster. Dating back to the 1300s, monsters have been defined
as people whom are of abnormal form and structure. It can be argued that every species, besides the
humans, are monsters, including Hobbits like Bilbo. Furthermore Bilbo is unlike a typical Hobbit
thanks to his Tookish lineage; therefore he is even more abnormal. Their neighbors, in part because of
their wealth, have always respected the Bagginses but also because they never bother anyone (pg 3).

As seen in many monster stories throughout history, such as Bisclavret and Beowulf, monsters also
live in isolation. Bilbo is no different. Hobbits are inherently known to remain in the confines of their
homes at all costs, as it provides a sense of comfort and security, similar to the role the woods play for
Bisclavret. Tolkien describes, on page 4, how Bilbo s parents settled in their hobbit hole and remained
there until their deaths, which is also where Bilbo continues to live (pg 4 5). Even after begins his
journey alongside the dwarves, he longs to sit in his home by the fire. In addition to being isolated
homebodies, Hobbit s are very fond of food. It is said that Hobbits are inclined to be fat in the stomach
(pg 4). Their gluttonous tendencies plague Bilbo through his travels as he constantly dreams of food.
The outward appearance of Bilbo and his need to live and eat separate from the world provides for a
surface level analysis of Bilbo Baggins as one of the monsters of The Hobbit.
It is important to remember that not all monsters are evil or act on malicious intent. Likewise, even
though a character isn t demonic doesn t mean he isn t still a monster. Bilbo never behaves in an
inappropriate manner, and is in fact the protagonist of The Hobbit. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen provides two
theses from his article Monster Culture that satisfies Bilbo s character. Thesis #2: The Monster Always
Escapes is perhaps the most obvious

Clostridium Difficile Analysis
Clostridium difficile is a gram positive bacterium responsible for over 10,000 deaths annually in the
United States alone. C. difficile is an opportunistic pathogen that has progressively become antibiotic
resistant in several strains. The bacterium strives in hosts currently taking antibiotics where there is no
competition between commensal microbiota. Common known symptoms of C. difficile infections
(CDIs) include diarrhea, fever, and toxic megacolon. Primary virulent factors of the bacterium
currently being researched are the endotoxins, C. difficile toxin A (TcdA) and B (TcdB). Both toxins
bind to receptors of gut epithelial cells and are endocytosed leading to the inactivation of Rho type
GTPases. With the activity of these enzymes nullified, the cytoskeleton of cells are unstable and
eventually die (Hernandez, et al., 2015). Merck Company., Inc is currently testing the humanized

every year. The cost for treatment has often been more than a hundred million dollars and cases where
patients require additional care can cost to up to an additional ten thousand dollars (Wilkins Lyerly,
2003). The use of antibiotics can be used to treat symptoms but infection may reoccur in hosts or
impotent to antibiotic resistant strains. The use of mAbs for CDIs could replace the use of antibiotics
and vaccines used for CDIs, severely reducing relevant medical expenses so it is expected the market
is pretty high. MK 3415A and other related mAbs are still undergoing research and clinical trials so
bioprocessing protocols to produce mass amounts are not yet available. Current research only shows
the MK 3415A as a treatment for CDIS and has no other yet known applications. However, the
antibodies show great promise as neutralizing antibodies for C. difficile toxins and several strains of

Symbolism In Ethan Frome

Building A Way For Mcgill Students
Background The objective of this business proposal is to establish a way for McGill students to be
informed of the occupancy, or rather, the vacancy of seats in the libraries on McGill campus. It is our
group s aim to come up with a system which can count the number of people on the each floor of a
library facility and to calculate the number of vacant seats available. In order to do achieve this
objective, we are to situate sensors at the main entrances of the libraries as well as at the entryways of
each floor in the library buildings. By counting the traffic of people who are entering and exiting each
library building, as well as each floor, an approximate number of the seats taken in different parts of
libraries can be estimated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the rapid advancement in information technology (IT), which entails information,
communication, mobile, and networking technologies, the service sector s list of ventures is constantly
expanding (Rust Huang, 2014). The advances in IT sector, therefore, are very closely associated with
the service revolution and the information revolution. Rust and Huang (2014) aim to explain these
phenomena s relationship to advances in IT and to consider the implications of this relationship for
marketing science. Much of the drastic transformation of the world s service sector from an industrial
to a post industrial service society is due to both the contribution of IT to service and from IT as a
service. In other words, the advancement of IT has transformed the nature of service fundamentally
(Rust Huang, 2014). IT plays a role of facilitator; as the mobile and networking technology allows the
consumers to access various services anywhere at any time, IT facilitates firm to customer, firm to
firm, and customer to firm communications online and on mobile devices. Hence, this trend enables
application developers to tailor services to fit the needs of each consumer (Rust Huang, 2014). As an
application developer aims to satisfy a specific need of the target consumers, the service quality and
the satisfaction of the consumers increase. As Figure 1

Immortal Technique s Song Industrial Revolution
In the song Industrial Revolution, musical artist and activist Felipe Andres Coronel, better known by
his stage name, Immortal Technique, emphasizes numerous societal and governmental issues in the
United States. In a similar way to Killer Mike, Technique uses specific historical events and facts to
project the corruption and manipulation that citizens in the United States are exposed to. The chorus
along with each of his verses are stacked with unrelenting attacks on the injustices of society. Many
expletive, vivid lyrics help to map out the general unrest and overall uneasy feelings of an entire
population in modern society.
The most stressed lyrics that carry the overall tone and theme reside in the chorus of the tune. This is

The result of the Industrial Revolution was a major economic boom in capitalism which led to some
individuals gaining major wealth, but leaving a majority of the population laboring in factories and
living in poverty. Technique emphasizes how nothing is free in a capitalist society. Although joining
the army to try and gain access to a job and education seems free, it comes with the cost of one s life
serving in war. The next line in the chorus talks about the devil, who serves as a recurring symbol in
many works of past musical activists such as Gil Scott Heron and Killer Mike. Immortal Technique
constantly attempts to dismantle the reputation of hip hop stars who falsely claim to have had a rough
life to sell the idea of black culture and image of the ghetto by playing broke. Not only does the devil
represent a powerful, manipulating force in capitalism, but a fake artist who Immortal Technique
claims he will inevitably destroy and exploit. In the third line of the chorus, Technique mentions the
reparations of restitution that is owed by fake rap artists for the damage that their rubbish has caused
to the rap game. The final line gets back to the idea of big industry having a deadly

Megacities In The 19th Century
The term megacities is a term from recent years but the phenomenon of big cities is not new at all. The
first cities in human history were built on the plains of Mesopotamia between 4000 and 3000 BC.
Rome was the first city to reach a million inhabitants in about 5 BC. This was two to three times
higher than any other previous city. After Rome, London was in 1800 AD the second city with a
million inhabitants and in the 19th century North America followed (Hall, 2010).
The cities that lasted the longest share some same characteristics. According to archaeological and
historical research, settlements that lasted the longest did not grow the most rapidly or had the highest
standard of living. The inhabitants managed their interactions with the land they lived in such a way
that their technologies did not outstrip the ecosystems on which they drew (Sorensen, 2010). The

percent of world s population was urban. The first mega city in the world emerged, as New York City

there were ten megacities that were home to 153 million people which is less than seven percent of the
global urban population. In 2014 the amount of megacities has almost tripled to 28 with a population
of 453 million people, which account for twelve percent of the global urban population. The total

The Absurd
The Absurd: What then is implied by the idea of the Absurd? In spite of the view passed on by pop
culture, the Absurd, in any event not what Camus had expressed, that it doesn t just allude to some
dubious discernment that current life is full of mysteries, incoherencies, and scholarly disarray. Rather,
as he accentuates and tries to clarify, the Absurd communicates an essential disharmony, a deplorable
contrariness, in our reality. As a result, he contends that the Absurd is the result of an impact or
showdown between our human yearning for request, which means, and reason in life and the clear,
impassive quiet of the universe : The crazy is not in man nor on the planet, but rather in their nearness
together... it is the main bond joining them. (The Myth of Sisyphus, Chapter 2, Absurd Walls) The
Revolt: The buddy subject to the Absurd in Camus oeuvre is Revolt. What is revolt? Essentially

Elizabeth Garbert s Spoiled Rotten
Letting your child take control is never a good thing. Children s spoiled behaviors is a very commonly
discussed problem amongst parents because children seem to be out of control when it comes to
discipline and listening. However, children in America seem to be particularly more spoiled than
children in other parts of the world. Why is that? Spoiled Rotten , an article written by Elizabeth
Kolbert, explains this very issue. American children are spoiled compared to other children around the
world because, they take away the authority from their parents, lack discipline, and very little is
expected of them. Excessive amounts of authority are spoiling American children. This is because,
with this authority, the roles are being reversed within

succession of loud and shrill screams . Fortunato is so terrified, helpless and desperate that he has a
mental breakdown and becomes insane. As for Montresor, he acts calmly from beginning to end. First,
he wants to take revenge on Fortunato and plots it carefully in order to avoid the punishment. He
knows his enemy very well, from Fortunato s interests to his weakness, so he can easily kill Fortunato.
During the process of murder, he is really calm and controlled. Step by step, he lures Fortunato to his
gloomy cellar and kills Fortunato. He works in a place filled with bones and feels no terror. He even
stops his labour just to hear Fortunato s cry with more satisfaction . Though for a brief moment [he]
hesitated, [he] trembled , he does not tremble for guilt but for the worry that Fortunato may escape.
After Montresor take the revenge successfully, he feels satisfied and pleasant. The differences on their
psychological changes create a terrified atmosphere which makes readers suffocate. In conclusion, Poe
characterizes Fortunato and Montresor as contrasts by describing their dress, educational background,
personalities and their psychological changes.

When Should Transgender Identification Begin
Research on Transgender Identification in Youth or Adulthood
The question at hand is whether or not it is more beneficial for a person with gender dysphoria to be
able to express the gender for which they identify with at a young age, or later, in adulthood.
In regards to sociology, symbolic interactionism is ideal for examining the way in which sociological
theory relates to transgender issues. This is because symbolic interactionism is the study of how
people relate to one another and their environment, but specifically how the relations between each
other have an effect on their environment. Blumer s conceptualization of symbolic interactionism,
known as the situational approach is the one most often used in sex research (Longmore, ... Show

Hopefully, by gaining insight into these interactions, it will help inform whether or not it is beneficial
for a child to be able to express their gender identity at a young age or whether it is more beneficial for
them to wait until adulthood.
A theory that would give insight into the research question in relation to psychology would be identity
theory. Stryker and Burke (2006) have the most relevant ideas on identity theory that would inform the
research question. In identity theory, it is used to show how people identify with being a particular
type of person; how they take on social roles and belong to social groups (Burke, 2006). Stryker
claimed that the greater number of people one is committed to being a certain type of person around
the more they identify with being that type of person (Burke, 2006). This poses interesting insight into
the research question of whether or not it is beneficial for a child to express their gender identity at a
young age and be out with everyone they know, or for an adult to have to slowly bring their identity
into existence among people individually and how this may have an effect on the person. Stryker also

Rion Amalcar Scott s The Etiquette Of Police Brutality
Patrick and Hall in In Defense of Self and Others write, If effective law enforcement is to be
maintained, the race must not be to the swift. The fleeing criminal, regardless of his offense, must be
considered the author of his own misfortune. Policemen only use force in response to the situation
they are in. Day to day Police men and women have to make difficult choices. The decisions they
make often lead to controversy. Two sides are then created. On one side, there are people that believe
police are bullies that do as they wish; the other side believes officers act as they see fit and do the
best they can to keep the public out of harm s way. The Etiquette of Police Brutality by Rion Amalcar
Scott represents the first view and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also starts with how he read about cases of police brutality that mostly involved Black and Brown
suspects. This informative piece s purpose is to show how police officers continue to use excessive
force without consequences. With the recent number of police shootings involving black Americans,
Scott sees police as bullies that do whatever necessary to get their way, so he uses the text to show
them in that light. The few statistics that Scott uses are from credible sources, but the rest of the
writing is purely anecdotal. He relies almost entirely on emotional appeals. In many of the above
cases, such as the Chamberlain case, police were cleared of any wrongdoing or faced relatively light
or unspecified punishments, a situation that I imagine leaves police feeling comfortable in deploying
any act of violence in their toolbox, no matter how reckless, if it leaves them standing when all the
smoke from the gunfire has cleared. However, for much of the populace, that knot in their chests when
a squad car sidles up next to them in traffic is the twinge of sheer terror. Scott does not do much to set
up how credible he is in the text. Without using facts and evidence or speaking from personal
experience, Scott s writing lacks ethos. However, Scott s writing does do a good job in showing
officers in a completely different light than how Bolgiano portrays them. When assessing a law

  • 2. The Rhetorical Analysis Of Viva La Vida Titanium This song relates specifically to the scene at the end where he stands up for himself by refusing to give back his signature. They attempt to coax him into handing it over and signing it in order to convict the other people holding out. Then at the last moment he takes a stand for himself and the others by defying the court and being hanged... He let there empty threats ricochet of him as he stands defiant against the evil and corruption of the court. When he answers, I did not when asked if he saw anyone else with him, he is standing up for for his friends and protecting them. This parallels to the general tone of the song and strongly relates to the lyrics, I m criticized but all your bullets ricochet You shoot me down, but I get up I m bulletproof nothing to lose Fire away, fire away . Viva La Vida Viva La Vida is a song of remembrance for a time when the King of France had real authority and now he is washed up and no longer respected. This directly reflects the loss of authority that occurs throughout the story as Hale loses respect. Hale goes from the de facto authority on witchcraft and a chief member of the Salem court... to a person who s pleas and reasoning is dismissed. This is shown in two quotes that represent him at the beginning and the end; these quotes are, There be no unnatural causes here. Tell him I have sent for Reverend Hale of Beverly, and Mister Hale will surely confirm that and Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more. I will not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Global Financial Crisis Case Study Building it into the system: Firoozye One observed solution to the realised growth of Uncertainty (of all colours, up to and including Knightian, radical, Uncertainty) is to attempt to account for it within existent systems, whilst resisting paradigmatic change of the system environment as a whole. Through examination of the 2016 work of Firoozye and Ariff , Managing Uncertainty, Mitigating Risk, the logic, justification, and tools of one such approach will be elucidated. Firoozye and Ariff diagnose, like many others, that the systems prior to the Global Financial Crisis were not set up in such a fashion that they could handle when events didn t fall in the correct probability distributions (i.e., that the highly unlikely did, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Haldane, Hayek s insights laid bare the perils of over active policy if one assumed omniscience , throwing the need for radical epistemological reconfiguration intp sharp relief. Here, they highlight instead his description of uncertainties caused by the dispersal of knowledge . This is not Knightian Uncertainty, nor does it claim to be, but it is pertinent that this is the groundwork laid. The battle to eliminate Knightian Uncertainty at the top starts with that of collation and gathering of information to reduce less pernicious Uncertainty at the bottom. Central to this is the urge to classify, to create taxonomies so that, even in the instance where deep Uncertainty does emerge, everything else that can be known, is. This is a wider view than many others here, implicit in whose work is the assumption that Knightian Uncertainty is a constant, rather than a symptom of particularly complex environments. It is only through this mapping of classes of unknowns, and the gradual expansion of information about them, that Firoozye and Ariff aver we are able to manage Uncertainty and prepare for foreseeable outcomes Their demands on the traditional risk management methodologies in finance are broad, if not novel: widen historical data sets, ... The story begins in Aguascalientes, Mexico on a beautiful ranch owned by Esperanza s father. However, Esperanza and her family are forced to immigrate to America. Throughout the journey, Esperanza reveals several of her personality traits. All of these traits can be represented by symbols. First, a bag of coins can symbolize Esperanza s selfishness and arrogance in the beginning of the story. I chose this because a selfish and conceited person would want more of something and believe he or she is superior to other people. Esperanza s selfishness shines through on page 69 where the author writes, Mona, she said, and reached up to touch the doll. Esperanza quickly jerked it away and put it back in the valise, covering it with the old clothes. Also, her arrogance is shown on page 67 when Esperanza is boarding a train filled with peasants and she says, We can t travel in this car. It s not clean and the people don t look trustworthy. Her hard work is also displayed on page 182 where the author writes, She put her hands under the faucet, rinsed off the avocado, and patted them dry. • 8. Iago Revenge In Othello In Othello, Iago s thoughts of himself easily described with one word: self centered. Iago thinks the world and all those in it owe him something. He feels betrayed, mostly by all he thought were friends and loved ones, true or not in his narcissistic mind it is. Iago sets out to get vengeance on each and everyone that deserves it. Quiet intelligently he uses his talented, manipulative ways to create himself a great reputation of being a loyal soldier and a friend, but is even better known as an honest captain. Using this façade without any remorse, Iago seeks revenge by using everyone s insecurities to break them down one by one, turning each against the other, in order to have his bittersweet revenge. Iago initiates his plot by speaking with one of his pawns Roderigo, who he knows could be the key player in the role of harming both, Othello and Cassio. Iago knows that Roderigo still loves Desdemona, even after her marriage to Othello. As a result, he devises a lie to make Roderigo think Desdemona doesn t really love Othello and in actuality, she is having an affair with Cassio. Iago conveniences Roderigo that if he kills Cassio, he could win back the heart of Desdemona. At the same time, Iago is testing Othello s insecurities by telling him the same malicious lies. Because she offers a penny to a small black child, in the point of view of her son she is. With all the humiliation that Julian gets by a child s mother. • 10. What Is The Myth Of Sisyphus The bus was silent, no one daring to speak. We had just suffered the first loss in more than 10 years to one of the competing schools to make it to the state tournament for tennis. This bus ride home from the tournament in Green Bay gave me sufficient time to reflect on my matches and on the sport as a whole. Tennis is a sport of repetition. You play points over and over again until a match is complete, matches until a tournament is complete, and then the whole process repeats a couple weeks later. This reminded me of the myth of Sisyphus. Sisyphus was a kind who upon his death was tasked with rolling a boulder up a hill. However, as soon as he pushed the stone to the top it rolled back down to the bottom and he had to start again. While this is seen as a punishment in the myth I see it as a blessing. ... So by giving Sisyphus this task to repeat endlessly for eternity, they actually blessed him by giving him something to attach meaning to. In the same way tennis gives me something to attach meaning to and better myself through a game that will not improve me academically or as a person. Dr. Martin Luther King in my opinion is one of these few leaders. Martin Luther King s addition to history has put him in a special position that is not easy to replicate in today s world. Martin Luther King always preached in opposition to hate and anger and was often quoted saying, There is another way... as modern as Gandhi saying through Thoreau, that non‑cooperation with evil is as much a moral obligation as is cooperation with good. • 12. Essay Evolving Biometrics Evolving Biometrics The terms biometrics and biometry have been used since the early 20th century. It refers to the field of development of statistical and mathematical methods applicable to data analysis problems in the biological sciences (Biometrics Journal.) Biometrics has been used in a variety of disciplines, in which it serves a different function for each field. For example it has been used statistically in agricultural field experiments to compare the harvest of different types of wheat; for the analysis of data from human clinical experiments assessing the effectiveness of therapies for certain diseases; or for the analysis of data from environmental studies on the effects of air and/or water pollution on the emergence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Biometrics has the promise to become an irreplaceable part of most identification systems, however it is not yet 100% accurate. Passwords and cards (customary in government and banking conglomerates) are no longer sufficient as a means of individual recognition; they can be shared among employees, lost, or forgotten, on the other hand biometric distinguishers cannot be shared, copied, or misplaced. With our technology today, biometrics can be used to reduce fraud, lead to user friendly human and machine interface, and could consequently make our society safer. Uses of biometry Biometric based authentication applications include workstation, network, and domain access, single sign on, application logon, data protection, remote access to resources, transaction security and Web security. Biometrics can be used for positive identification; given the input biometric sample it measures the authenticity of an individual when using an ATM, credit card, computer network login, cell phones, medical records management, or electronic data security. Positive identification functions place high value on being user friendly and are cost sensitive. Large scale identification determines whether a person is in the database for an application given the input biometric sample, it requires little human interaction and must be continuously monitored (Goldstein). • 13. Theme Of Foreshadowing In The Sixth Sense The director M. Night Shyamalan used different methods to construct and format the theme of the film, The Sixth Sense . He uses foreshadowing, symbolism and motif to help the viewer understand the movie and see that it is more than what you first perceive. In The Sixth Sense a boy named Cole Sear has a sixth sense that is haunting him at the beginning of the movie. He sees things that other people can t see. He can also hear things that other people can t. He can see ghosts, among people as if living like nothing ever happened. A Doctor named Dr. Malcolm Crowe tries to help Cole with his problem until he realizes that Cole is very much like one of his other patients, Vincent Grey, who was a boy that had the exact same symptoms. Ultimately the director uses foreshadowing, symbolism and motif to construct the theme of communication within the film. Throughout the movie, The Sixth Sense director M. Night Shyamala utilizes foreshadowing to hint to the viewers what will happen next throughout the film. Foreshadowing was used as a valuable tool more than just once throughout the motion picture. For example, in the beginning Vincent Grey breaks into Dr. Malcolm Crowe s home. Vincent Grey was a former patient of Crowe s. Throughout this emotional scene Vincent tells him that he had failed him and then Vincent shoots Crowe and himself. Dr. Crowe gets shot in the kidney. That would be a fatal wound to anyone. Although the audience doesn t know that, because that was only a flashback. The movie then moves to the next fall and it appears that Crowe is alive. This example indicates that Dr. Crowe is a ghost himself. Another instance of foreshadowing is Cole Sear is the only person to speak to Dr.Crowe throughout the film. Even though Dr. Crowe speaks and tries to communicate with other people, no one speaks back. Dr. Crowe only sees what he wants to see. This is also an indication Dr. Crowe is dead. As the film went on one may notice that Dr. Crowe only wore an undershirt, a shirt over it and a coat. And he switches all the time, but he never wears anything besides that.Living people usually change their clothes. Another foreshadow is in the beginning, when Cole speaks to Dr. Crowe in the church he spoke in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Nacl Affects on Enzymatic Reaction Essay The Effects that 1%, 4%, and 16% Sodium Chloride (NaCl) Concentration Had on the Rate of Reaction of Catecholase Enzymes in a Potato (Solanum tuberosum). Abstract Enzymes are a key component of a cell. They make chemical reactions happen faster because they lower the activation energy to make the chemical reaction occur. Most of the time, it is best if enzymes produce as efficiently as possible, but in some cases it is better if they do not, when dealing with potatoes (Solanum tuberosum). If the catecholase enzyme of the potato is hindered, it is less likely to brown when it is cooked. To see how efficient sodium chloride is at slowing down these enzymes, the experiment measured the rate of reaction when the enzymes were exposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are three factors that will alter an enzyme: temperature, pH and salt. All three will change the structure of the enzyme by denaturation and rendering it useless when a drastic change occurs from levels that are normal. A slight alteration can speed up reaction to certain saturation or slow the process of reaction. Enzymes have a substrate: the substrate for the catecholase enzyme is catechol and oxygen. When the substrate combines with the catecholase enzyme of a potato, the product is a reddish brown color called benzoquinone. This product is what turns fruits and vegetables brown (Briggs and others 2010). Therefore, slowing or stopping the process of would increase shelf life of some food, or at least make the foods appearance appetizing much longer. The equation for this chemical reaction is: Enzyme Substrate Product Catechol + Oxygen Catecholase Benzoquinone The hindering of the Benzoquinone could alter the production, and could lower the cost of produce. Nathalie Santis and others (2005) preformed an experiment to see the effects of various NaCl solutions on thin slices of potato that were fried. The potatoes were sliced 3mm thick and 30mm in diameter, fourteen slices in all. All fourteen were blanched at 70°C for five minutes. Hobbits are inherently known to remain in the confines of their homes at all costs, as it provides a sense of comfort and security, similar to the role the woods play for Bisclavret. Tolkien describes, on page 4, how Bilbo s parents settled in their hobbit hole and remained there until their deaths, which is also where Bilbo continues to live (pg 4 5). Even after begins his journey alongside the dwarves, he longs to sit in his home by the fire. In addition to being isolated homebodies, Hobbit s are very fond of food. It is said that Hobbits are inclined to be fat in the stomach (pg 4). Their gluttonous tendencies plague Bilbo through his travels as he constantly dreams of food. The outward appearance of Bilbo and his need to live and eat separate from the world provides for a surface level analysis of Bilbo Baggins as one of the monsters of The Hobbit. It is important to remember that not all monsters are evil or act on malicious intent. Likewise, even though a character isn t demonic doesn t mean he isn t still a monster. C. difficile is an opportunistic pathogen that has progressively become antibiotic resistant in several strains. The bacterium strives in hosts currently taking antibiotics where there is no competition between commensal microbiota. Common known symptoms of C. difficile infections (CDIs) include diarrhea, fever, and toxic megacolon. Primary virulent factors of the bacterium currently being researched are the endotoxins, C. difficile toxin A (TcdA) and B (TcdB). • 35. Rion Amalcar Scott s The Etiquette Of Police Brutality Patrick and Hall in In Defense of Self and Others write, If effective law enforcement is to be maintained, the race must not be to the swift. However, for much of the populace, that knot in their chests when a squad car sidles up next to them in traffic is the twinge of sheer terror. Scott does not do much to set up how credible he is in the text. Without using facts and evidence or speaking from personal experience, Scott s writing lacks ethos. However, Scott s writing does do a good job in showing officers in a completely different light than how Bolgiano portrays them. When assessing a law enforcement officer s use of ...
