Bananas and plantains (Musa spp.) are one of the major staple foods in the world. In 2006 the
estimated world production of bananas was 80.6 million tons while 16.8 tons were traded (Cohen,
2011). Although bananas are common today, the origins of the bananaare complex and occurred
over thousands of years during multiple stages. Archeologists focused on the Kuk Valley of New
Guininea, the area where the domestication of bananas supposedly took place around 8,000 BCE
(Before Common Era) (Bot, 2007). The study of banana history has been difficult because banana
pollen and seeds were rare or absent at archaeological sites. It wasn t until recent technologies and
the use of multi disciplinary research that we could gain a better understanding. Genetics and
linguistic studies also help in understanding the banana origin (Hirst, 2015). Diploid and triploid
forms of bananas have been identified and their distribution throughout the world is a key piece of
evidence in unlocking the truth about banana domestication.

According to (Walton, 2014), as far back as the late 1800 s, children have been sentenced to the
same punishments as adults, depending on the crime they committed. Punishments even included
death if the juvenile was deemed to be past the point of help. Later on courts were geared more
towards rehabilitation than punishment. Reform movements came along and parents could send
their children off to reformatories to live and work as part of their rehabilitation. Due to poor
living and working conditions many of these places were closed down.
Soon after the Progressive Era, the first juvenile court system was opened in Illinois. The main
focus of these courts was rehabilitation for the juveniles (Fiorillo, 2013). Juvenile violent crime
rates had increased so much that law makers knew they had to do something to combat all of the
violence. Juveniles were committing murder, assault, rape and other serious crimes which sent the
public into a fear overload. These increases in juvenile violent crimes lead to some of our early get

I. Abstract: The effects on different aspects of cardiopulmonary fitness, respiratory rate, mean
arterial pressures, electrical activity of the heart, and pulse rate, were all tested on Freshmen
Biology students in regards to how exercise affects the results and if there is a difference between
males and females. Students did a moderate intensity exercise for two minutes, and the results
were recorded. There was at least a slight gender difference between all three measurements; for
all three, males, on average, had a higher net change after exercise. This, however, could have been

For my negative controls I would run the reaction in several separate ways. First, omit the substrate
(to make sure the enzyme is only acting on hydrogen peroxide and not something else in the

incubate substrate with an unrelated protein like albumin (to make sure it s not just the presence of

should benefit from these tools.
Any neighborhood to lose power will suffer in the short and long term. To prioritize, we must be
able to step back and see the city as a system comprised of smaller, unequal parts, and understand
how different neighborhoods might be differently vulnerable in case of an outage. Evidently, major
infrastructure like hospitals and transit nodes should be most protected from outages. While such
infrastructures are locally embedded, they provide crucial services to the whole city and outlying
areas.
Beyond infrastructure, the issue is more nuanced. However, on close inspection, the ethical choice
is also the practical one. Power outages should be allowed in the most advantaged areas

The first world war was one of the most brutal and remorseless events in history; the global
conflict that defined a century . Over nine million soldiers and a large amount of innocent
civilians lost their lives. Empires crumbled, revolution engulfed Russia and America rose to
become a dominant world power. Huge armies deployed new weapons of devastating effect from
rifles and pistols to torpedoes and flame throwers. These weapons were used not only in the
trenches but by tanks too. This was an advantage to those who were able to access such machinery
as they could easily launch bullets and missiles at nearby enemy bases. The downfall of the tank
was the fact it was unable to cross the trenches. Tanks were not the only pieces of equipment that
could access this machinery but U boats and planes too. The British carried bolt actionrifles in
which fired 15 rounds per minute at a minimum range of 1,400 metres away. This allowed the
British to take out foes at a far greater range. By using machinery in which rules out the need for
getting up close to the enemy was a great advantage during world war one. Soldiers ran from
