Speech About Florence Kelley
I am writing to you on the behalf of Florence Kelley, a student I have taught since 1890. She
hopes to further her education at United States University. Kelley has always been extremely
hard working, empathetic, and compassionate, and strongly believes in the rights of all people,
especially women and children. A perfect example of this is when she said, For the sake of the
children, for the Republic in which these children will vote after we are dead, and for the sake of
our cause, we should enlist the workingmen voters, with us, in this task of freeing the children
from toil (Wamsley, 1336 1358). In this quote, Kelley was encouraging voters to vote for the
abolition or at least limitation of child labor. As one can see, she is very persuasive and deeply
cares about her work; she truly wants to free children from suffering due to unnecessary work.
This considerate mindset is apparent in her entire work ethic and philosophy. When Kelley was a
young girl, her father, US Congressman William Darrow Kelley, exposed her to many social
rights issues, such as women s suffrage and abolition (Carson and Bonk). Talking about these
issues from a young age inspired her to introduce many reforms and change others lives for the
better when she became older. Many of her successes can be contributed to a lifetime of discussing
politics at the dinner table. Had she not had these experiences from a young age, she may not have
made so many significant changes to the country. Additionally,

Having A Two-Handed Play Educating Rita
Educating Rita by Willy Russell
Educating Rita , is a two handed play which only has two characters and one set. Educating Rita
was written in 1985 by Willy Russell, it looks at how the relationship between two people, Rita
and Frank, develops as the play goes on. Educating Rita is the story of Rita, a hairdresser who
decides to go to University in order to discover who she really is. When she arrives at University
she meets Frank, a lazy alcoholic who doesn t really care about being a University lecturer. At
first, Frank refuses to teach Rita but he soon finds he has a soft spot for Rita and decides to teach
her everything he knows about English Literature. I will be analysing the ... Show more content on

That particular scene emphasised how their relationship was progressing and would not have
been highlighted as much if there were more characters in the play. Another benefit of having a
two handed play is, as an audience we can concentrate particularly on just the two main
characters, even though we are told of others. As a result, we aren t distracted by insignificant
characters or minor concerns, this would only confuse the audience about what is going on in
the play. There are many characters that are mentioned in the play by Frank and Rita that we
don t hear any dialogue from. For example, we hear about Denny, Rita s husband, about Julia,
Frank s partner, and about Trish, Rita s flatmate, who attempts to kill herself. The financial and
logistical implications are also a benefit for Educating Rita being a two handed play because, as
there is only one set used in the whole play, therefore, the play is cheaper to stage as they don t
have to pay for another set to be built or rented. Also more money is saved from the play s
budget as the director only has to pay the wages of two characters. More benefits of Educating Rita
being a two handed play are that minor characters or concerns in the play do not distract the
audience, therefore they can focus all their

Delusion Definition Essay
A delusion is a false belief that is resistant to reason. Delusions are often the cause of people s
unhappiness in life, because delusions hold people back from living their life to the fullest and
being what they were meant to be. The most common delusions are fear of rejection and insecurity
in one s self. My own delusionis my insecurity. From when I was a young child, I have always
been the bigger friend. I went to a school that predominantly consisted of girls who could eat
eight Big Macs and still never gain a pound. These girls knew they themselves were skinny and
they made sure those who weren t were picked on. These actions caused me to always second guess
myself. Did I look too big in this outfit? Should I change? Do I look

The Best Research Approach For Sanitarium Market Research
Assignment 2
Di Zhang
110069398
Scenario 1
Discussion of target respondents:
The target respondent of Sanitarium is customers who did purchase so good coconut milk in the
last 12 month. As the objective for this research is aiming to gain an understanding of who is
buying their so good coconut milk, how they are using, how they view so good coconut milk and
if they use other sanitarium products. And other group of target respondent would be sales people
who work in the market for Sanitarium products, because their feedback is also important to
achieve the research objectives.
Discussion of research approach:
The best research approach for Sanitarium market research would be the combination of qualitative
and quantitative method. Qualitative research is a broad umbrella term that cover a wide range of
techniques and philosophies. In broad terms, qualitative research is an approach that allows you to
examine people s experiences in detail information, it include method such as in depth interview,
focus groups, content analysis etc. (Frederick, 2015) Quantitative research method quantifies data
and focus on a large number of data, it meet the objective of the research project as to find out the
number of best sell product. Similarly, using primary data is the dedicated to the problem at hand,
also it is very useful for face to face interview (Zikumund 2014)
Discussion of method:
For Sanitarium, a combination of questionnaire and focus groups interview would be ideal to

Theme Of Satire In Gulliver s Travels
Satire in Gulliver s Travels
First published in 1726, Gulliver s Travels is a momentous piece of literature which defined the
satirical genre and empowered writers of following generations to assume the responsibility of
keeping the government in check and exposing corruption. The novel accomplices this through its
nuanced prose and wild exhibitions of imagery, subliminally mocking and satirizing facets of the
cultures he s introduced to. Exploring themes of corruption, religious division and hypocrisy, and
cultural progressivism, Gulliver s travels implements and employs various allusions and metaphors
as a means of pushing his agenda.
Throughout the novel Gulliver is confronted with the existential and philosophical question of

This contrast is best exhibited between the inhabitants of Gulliver s third and fourth voyage, as
their societies are exhibit a proclivity for the scientific world and the natural world, respectively.
This contrast evokes thought over what makes an advanced society and alludes to the intellectual
and traditional wars raging in Europe, both in the academic realm with hobbes and in the political
realm as the concept of self governance began to emerge. Gulliver s travels is irrevocably one of
the most influential and notorious novels to ever be written. The critiques of society were felt like
a sting throughout the continent while his humorous tales warmed the spirits of many citizens. The
novel s striking satire helped define a generation and propel literature into a new mindset and
motivation. The clever metaphors and well constructed allusions allowed for a cohesive and
intriguing depiction of a fantasy through a realistic lense. Gulliver s Travels allowed readers to
travel to distant utopias and dystopias and travel back, spreading knowledge and ideologies for the

because of the Bolsheviks policies. A chaos starts to begin a lot of people weren t happy. The
economy was bad, there was a great inflation. Also, they were having a lot of enemies. All these

The Bolsheviks have their supporters who were the red Army. (Figes 168). The red army was a
volunteer force of proletarians from the Urban citadels of Bolshevik power in the central and the
northern Russia (Figes 168). However, the Bolshevik party was having a lot of enemies, a lot of
people were disliked them (Johndclare).
One of the Bolshevik enemies was the social revolutionary (Johndclare). They became an enemy to
the Bolsheviks after the election that they both entered (Johndclare). This election, held in 1917,
the Bolsheviks and the social revolutionary, both entered that election (Johndclare). The Bolsheviks
party won 175 seats only, while the social revolutionary won 375 seats (Johndclare). As a result,
Lenin used the Red guards to close the assembly and they killed anyone who resists (Johndclare).
The social revolutionary fought back by attacking the Bolshevik part and because of that the social
revolutionary and the Bolsheviks part became an enemy (Johndclare).
Another enemy that hated the Bolsheviks party was Laver Korniloin (Spartacus). He organized a
volunteer army that was about 3000 men (Spartacus). Over a month s later other groups joined
these people and they called themselves the White army (Spartacus). Also, one of the groups that

Heartbeat By David Yoo Summary
Heartbeat is a short story by David Yoo that illustrates how a skinny sixteen year old struggles to
fit in and be liked by his classmates. The story takes place in an American high school during
modern times, as the text states that he returned to school , and it is mentioned in the text that he
is eating a mini Snickers bar, implying that he lives fairly close to the present. Dave s nickname is
Heartbeat because his friends swear that you can actually see the pulse on my bare chest. When his
crush, Sarah, comments on how skinny he is, Heartbeat tries to gain weight by working out,
adjusting his diet, and eliminating as much movement as possible. However, nothing works until he

A Brief Summary Of Degenated Blood
The first main vessel that leaves the heart is the pulmonary artery and is the only artery that carries
de oxygenated blood and traveling through the lungs is then oxygenated and returned to the heart
by the pulmonary vein and that is the only vein in the body to carry oxygenated blood. The now
oxygenated bloodleaves from the heartby the aorta and the splits to the carotid arteryalso known as
the subclavian artery to the arms and the thoracic artery. The carotid artery leads to smaller
arteries, arterioles and continuous capillaries around the arms and head and lead back to the heart

The Problem Of The Classroom Authority
Attention colleague: I have surveyed some of my students about the quality of your class, per
your request. The overwhelming response I received related specifically to how you deliver
instructions in the class. Many students reflected that when ask questions such as Is that where
that book goes? , What did you forget to put on your paper? , and Would you like to sit down? you
lose your credibility as the classroom authority. I am writing concerning this issue because of my
desire to share with you information I have recently learned in relation to the differences in
characteristics of authority between white, working class communities and black, poverty stricken
communities. I will also explain the linguistic concept code switching, which is the ability to read
the context of an environment and actively choose the language style that fits the environment, as
mentioned in Wheeler (2008), and how this will lend a hand to you having more of an authoritative
presence in the classroom.
In the classroom, educators are the ones wielding the power and I believe you already understand
this, which plays out in how educators speak to their students. From all the information my
students have given me, I believe you are talking to them the same way your middle working class
parents spoke to you and I believe that you understand that when you ask students to perform a task,
you are implicitly telling them to complete the task. Delpit (1998) says that working class white

Abuse Of Animal Abuse
Did you know about 10 million animals get abused and neglected every year? Circuses and Zoos
are prime examples of animal abuse and neglect. Animals like tigers, elephants, dolphins, and
whales should be in their natural habitat. These animals shouldn t be in small rusty cages, and
crowded pools. There are also people who illegally fight animals for money; i.e. Dog fighting,
cock fighting, etc. These animals fight for their lives, but the owners don t care about whether or
not they die, they just want money. Animals should not be used for our entertainment. Animals
are not given the choice of going into the entertainment world. People gamble on dog fighting,
cock fighting, etc. Wild cats and elephants in circuses endure abuse and neglect to be taught how
to jump through hoops of fire. SeaWorld neglects their animals once they get sick, and these
animals are given merely any space. Animal fighting is illegal in all 50 states in the U.S. and in
district Of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Yet animal fighting happens almost every day.
Most of the animals that fight are dogs, cocks, or hogs. Dog owners like to train their dogs how
to be aggressive. They chain their dog outside out of reach from other animals and people. The
dogs are given basic veterinary care and nutrition because the owners care about winning, not about
the dogs themselves. Some fighting dogs get steroids to enhance their muscles and increase their
aggressiveness. These dogs also get legal and illegal drugs

How Did The Atomic Bomb Affect Society
On the 6th August 1945 the Enola Gay, a USA warplane, dropped an atomic bomb (called the
Little Boy ) on a Japanese city called Hiroshima. This was the first time the atomic bomb was
used in war. The bomb exploded at around 580 m above the ground with the equivalent power of
15 kilotons of TNT. Sixty six thousand people died instantly from the heat and impact of the
bomb. Three days later, on the 9th August, the US decided to drop a second and bigger atomic
bomb (called the Fat Man ), on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. The Fat Man had an equivalent
power of 20 kilotons of TNT, causing more than fourthly thousand deaths. The dropping of the
bombs, which was on the order of the US President Harry Truman, remains the only nuclear attack

Japan surrendered 5 days later signaling the end of the war. It also changed how the military

The dropping of the atomic bombs changed warfare forever. Initially during the Manhattan Project,
which was the codename for the American project to develop of nuclear weapons, and the
testing of the bomb in New Mexico, the Americans not realise the impact it would have on the
world. They knew the bomb would end the war, but the priority was to be the first to develop
this powerful weapon; before the Germans or Japanese. The use of the bombs on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki resulted in a much bigger impact than expected. Apart from the surrender of the
Japanese, deaths and devastation, these events caused fear in other countries. Suddenly the USA
had a weapon that could destroy the world over and over again. Other countries joined in the
race to also own their own atomic bomb. The USSR and USA started to build even more
destructive bombs such as the Tzar Bomba, which was made by the soviets. The bombs caused
not only counties to fear them but also the solders because of this fact they started to places in law

Pediatrician Informative Speech
I m writing to you today to suggest that the motivational speaker should be a pediatrician.
Pediatrics manage occupational tasks with infants and children. Working with children will give
one a great personality and kind heart inside and outside the workplace. While being a
pediatrician, you can do other things besides the daily duties in the workplace, by becoming active
in your community. As for being active, you are persuading your local communities, kids and
adults stay active, become healthy and take care of yourself properly. Healthis a very important thing
for everyone because once you get older and older without taking care of yourself, different thing
will develop and cause a variety number of problems. The way you will live your life is all
surrounded by how you take care of yourself and doctors are responsible for that and to make a
change as well.
There are plenty of tasks for pediatricians. These responsibilities will demonstrate time management
skills. The duties include advising patients, maintaining medical history, examine children regularly,

Equal Employment Opportunity in the Working Environment
This paper on equal opportunity employment will show a few different types of discrimination that
would impede on a person from getting hired into an organization. It also shows some of the
different Acts from the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prevent discrimination when hiring workers
into an organization.
Equal Employment Opportunity in the Working Environment
Equal employment opportunity involves both workplace nondiscrimination and affirmative action.
Equal opportunity has changed the way businesses and organizations recruit, hire, and even act in
the working environment. These changes have been put in place due to the increasing numbers of
women, people with different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women mainly held low paying jobs and never really worked in a position of authority. The
research on working women in general tells us that there are very few differences between men
and women that affect job performance. Thus, men and women show no consistent differences
in their problem solving abilities, analytical skills, competitive drive, motivation, learning
ability, or sociability. However, women are reported to be more conforming and to have lower
expectations of success than men do. Also, Women s absenteeism rates tend to be higher than
those of men. This latter finding may change, however, as we see men starting to play a more
active role in raising children; absenteeism is also likely to be less frequent as telecommuting,
flexible working hours, and the like become more prevalent. In respect to pay, women s earnings
have risen slowly from 59 percent of men s in 1979 to 76 percent most recently (2003,pg.63).
This research is basically showing that once men and women start acquiring the same roles in the
work and home environment, there is nothing excluding a woman from working a mans job.
Companies may soon realize it might be helpful to have a woman in a certain position to acquire a
certain goal in mind.
Another aspect of equal opportunity in the working environment is the differences between racial
and ethnic groups.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 again protects employees against harassment,

We Are Contaminating Our Oceans in the Name of Progress
The demands of the industrial nations and newly industrializing emerging economies,
particularly China and India, for energy and mineral resources led to an accumulation of
quantities of goods being transported from far distant countries via seas. The use of the
Northern Sea Route (NSR) is in consideration for Russia when negotiating with Korean shippers
for energy shipments. Beijing officials believe that by the end of the decade five to fifteen
percent of their country s international trade, mainly container traffic, will use the NSR (Blank,
2014). With plans to expand polar research, Beijing has strived to create better policies due to the
change in climate. Moreover, according to an article last May, Singapore s Arctic diplomacy is
driven primarily by an ambition to exploit an emerging market niche in which it sees itself as a
technological and expertise leader (Straits Times, 2013). However, the pursuit for the Arctic s rich
resources and convenient location has caused rivalries in trade, such as that between India and
China. Nonetheless, tensions between countries will continue to progress if not stabilized by
national security or some sort of negotiation between these countries. Markets are increasingly
becoming globalized, hence escalating shipping volumes. Trade between countries without a
common border is carried mainly overseas. Due to the spectacular rise of trade vis Г vis economic
growth, world trade since the 1950s has more than trebled to 45 per cent of

Joint Enterprise Ending Crime
Joint enterprise, ending crime or escalating jail rates? In this day and age crime is crazy, a leap in
crimes committed, the population is growing and so the demand for technology is increasing, this
only results in more crime, more criminals and more witnesses. Joint enterprise is a new law
recently re introduced aiming to reduce the amount of criminals but ended up punishing the
innocent witnesses. Joint enterprise is a topic in which experts have been debating about for a long
time. Some believe that joint enterprise is a form of human rights abuse whereas others think it is
just. Imagine an innocent bystander accused for something they didn t do, imagine their families

This is a major factor of why the joint enterprise is bad. Joint enterprise usually convicts the
wrong people sending them to jail, devastating families, filling up jails all coming out of our tax
money. Think about it, whenever you see the facts of people going to jail, not all of them are
criminals. For example the case Derek Bentley, a vulnerable teenager, who was hanged despite
public outrage in 1953 after being convicted of murder under joint enterprise law as he was
accused of murdering a police officer. His conviction was overturned almost fifty years later
exclusively due to the efforts of his sister Iris. His sister Iris made a massive campaign, which
was initially led by Derek s parents until they died, which led to his remains being removed from
Wandsworth Prison and reburied in a family grave. There are many cases just like this such as the
case of Jasbir Takhar who on the 5th of August 2010, was convicted of murder in Birmingham
crown court and sentenced to 29 years in prison. He was not the person who fired the gun; he didn

On the other hand enemies such as the Space Pirates, Kraid, Ridley and the Mother Brain are
programed to perform a small selection of up, down and side to side to movements with the
exception of some basic skills and animations. Kraid for example, is a muscular, slow moving
hybrid with animations that signify a tank. The spinning claws and projectiles are launched from
his back and stomach area which replicate the barrel of a tank. Ridley is a slim and slippery space
dragon which has the ability to fly and to propel a burst of fireballs. In the original Metroid he is
capable of dodging attacks from Samus with the use of flying. In contrast to this, the Mother Brain
displays the animation of a pulsating mechanical brain with an immense amount of flowing energy
without the access of limbs. This indicates that it has imposing authority. To summarises this, many
of the characters in Metroid have the ability to convey an emotion with the use of different
animations. The way they are presented resembles the identity of realistic objects.
In conclusion, the art style of Metroid embodies the futuristic and sci fi theory of outer world life.

Descriptive Essay On The Fire
Footsteps
Many years ago, on August 15th, 1733, a small, unnamed town was nearly submerged in
scorching hot flames. A man named Louis James Tacha was one of the civilians that was killed
by the fire. Louis tried to help other people who have been swept away by the fire near the
swinging bridge. The sleeve of his white, long shirt sparked with a flame which engulfed the rest
of his body within seconds. He frantically tried to escape the snare of the fire, but his attempts
failed. He decided to jump into a rocky, fast moving river as his last attempt to survive. Louis
James Tacha s body was never found. Some say his spirit still lurks around the swinging bridge to
make others disappear into the river to symbolize how quickly someone can be forgotten. The few
survivors of the fire gave the name, Burnside, to the town to remember the event that took place on
that cool summer night.
Today, August 12th, 1983, is a big day for thirteen year old, Marcie Goupil, as she goes to an all
girls summer camp in Burnside, Tennessee, for her first time. Marcie is aroused with excitement
as she places her last few shirts into her over filled duffle bag. As Marcie and her dad pull up to the
camp, she sees large, dull looking trees with pointy branches, and leaves that started to change
colors, just barely covering a sign that reads, Camp Rio. All around her, counselors and campers
radiate with joy. No one seems to be vexed that sky is dim from clouds hovering over the earth.

Analysis Of Mirrors By Lucy Grealy
What really determines something to be beautiful. In Lucy Grealy s narrative, Mirrors , she
describes her journey of finding her own idea of beauty. As a child she had cancer in her face so
she had surgery to remove but it caused her face to be deformed. Consequently, she was bullied
because of the way she looked, which caused her self esteem to lower immensely. As a result,
she had undergone many surgeries and even went as far as to travel to another country to try and
fix her face. Therefore, as she gets older she not only alters herself physically but mentally. She
finally realizes that how people see us should not influence how we view ourselves not only
physically but mentally as well. So she decides to never lookat a mirror because she feels she does
not have to to know what she looks like anymore. She finally accepted the way she looks and
started focussing on her personal well being and recognizes that s what is actually important.
Society has a critical impact on the way we see ourselves because of the way social media shows
us that we should look a certain way, people telling us we should look a certain way, your negative
thoughts about how you look, and how society determines your value based on looks.
Social media has a big influence on this generation when it comes to body image. Many women,
or models, will post pictures of themselves showing off their body with thousands of likes and
many comments saying body goals or I wish I looked like that. This

Examples Of Greed In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s inferno, Dante first begins describing himself in a dark forest and in the distance on
top of a mountain sees paradise where his love, Beatrice, resides. He then begins making his way
to the mountain when he sees 3 creatures, a lion, a leopard and a she wolf. He then meets the
spirit of Virgil, who was a roman poet. Virgil guides Dante through the 9 rings of hell
in order for
Dante to reach Beatrice. They begin at Limbo, Where those who didn t identify as being Christians
and those who were not baptized. In this circle, there is a castle with 7 gates or walls that stood for
the 7 virtues. Here Dante met Socrates, Homer, Cicero, Hippocrates, Aristotle and Julius Caesar.

There were two types of greed a person would have had, those who hoarded possessions, and
those who carelessly spent them. The punishment was to have an unstoppably heavy weight
suppressed onto one s chest to represent the drive a person had to keep or carelessly spend their
riches/possessions. In this ring Dante saw men of the clergy, including popes and cardinals. I
would closely relate greed to gluttony because the overconsumption of food is basically being
greedy and not sharing with others, even though these two are closely related, I still stand by with
rearranging lust and gluttony because I feel greed is much worse. With Christianity, for the most
part, everyone would go out of their way to help one another. I feel this is mostly among the
poorer people because they would appreciate one another s efforts and open to sharing and
trading what they could muster. As for people such as some kings, popes, and higher classes,
since they had their riches, and far more positions, sharing was not on their agenda, again I m not
saying all higher class people did this. For those who carelessly spend their riches, they only think
about themselves rather than helping out the poor. I can think of quite a few people now a day s
that would definitely be ing this ring. I would keep this as the fourth ring because it s not the worst

Which Paper Towel Works Best
Which Paper Towel Works Best
When you come to the paper towel aisle in the grocery store do you ever get frustrated and
annoyed by all the brands to choose from? Every brand is telling you that they are the strongest
and that their brand will absorb the fastest. Have you ever actually taken the time to figure out
which brand is indomitable and absorbs the quickest? Well today I will fill you in on this
mysterious secret and tell you not only which brand is not lying to you but also which brand you

After that I waited until the entire ice cube melted. This took about two hours or so. Now that the
ice had all melted and absorbed into the paper towel I could see that the ice cube had either broke
through the paper towel, absorbed fully into the paper towel or leaked though in some spots. When
I was finished looking over what had happened, I wrote down the results and everything all of my
observations.
The first brand that I decided to start with was Scott. Scott brand claims to have fast absorbing
ridges. I bought a package of ninety six one ply sheets for a $1.69. I figured out that each sheet
costs around 0.018 cents. The paper towel sheets individually are 27.9 by 27.9 centimeters. The
Scott brand held up pretty well with the ice cube. The ice cube did not break through or rip the
paper towel. The paper towel was fully wet and absorbed the entire red ice cube. None of the red
water leaked through. I feel that the Scott brand has passed the test.
The second brand that I tested was Giant Eagles Clean n Tuff . This brand claims to be strong and
absorbent. I paid eighty nine cents for a ninety six 2 ply sheet roll. The sheets had the dimensions
of 27.9 by 27.9 centimeters. Each sheet costs around 0.0092 cents. After the ice cube finished
melting I observed what happened and found that the paper towel absorbed the water with no
tearing or dripping through at all.

headings: the SERVQUAL model, the physical environment, price perception, what is customer
satisfaction and what is customerloyalty.
2.1 The SERVQUAL model. Delivering an excellent customer servicethat meets the customers
need allows the customer to come back and repurchase the products. In determining the customer
service quality, Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Berry (1985) have comes out with ten components to
evaluate customer service quality: reliability, responsiveness, competence, access, courtesy,
communication, credibility, security, understanding/knowing the customer and tangibles. Later
these ten key categories were summaries to five dimensions of service quality which also known as
SERVQUAL: reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy and tangibles. According to Kulasin
(2005), the definition of each dimensions are as follow:
Dimensions

Reliability
The ability to perform the promised service dependably and accurately
Assurance
The knowledge and courtesy of employees and their ability to convey trust and confidence
Tangibles

My Book Of Mormon 121 Class Essay
For my Book of Mormon 121 class, I wanted to choose a lesson that could possibly help me
prepare for a mission. We only have one boy in our family and he is the very last of 7 children.
My three older sisters didn t go on a mission and I was confused when I had the sudden urge and
desire to do so. I thought it was just curiosity, to fit in with the new norm of woman going on a
mission, and therefore have not done anything serious to pursue those feelings. But it came to pass
that whosoever did not belong to the church of Godbegan to persecute those that did belong to the
church of God, and had taken upon them the name of Christ. (1:19). I will be applying the
scripture block Alma 1:19 26 which describes how the people of the Church had to face many trials
in order to test their faith.
Living in Utah my whole life, I never had to worry about feeling pressured because of my
religion. My sister who is currently in the army, describes Utah as a bubble that has it s benefits
until you leave it. When I was first introduced to the wonders and horrors of the internet, I
realized that there was world outside of Utah. A world that encompassed swearing, suggestive
material, and cruel riles against my church. I believe that if I had the chance to experience the
world, my testimony would be able to strengthen and therefore I would not have the urge to crack

Importance Of Being A Minister Of Christ Essay
Why does Richard Baxter emphasis the importance of being a minister of Christ?
If there is anything that is to be the characteristic of the reformed pastor it is that his mind and
life must bear the image of the servanthood of Christ. Following after Christ words, I have come
not to be served but to serve others and to give my life as a ransom for many .This is why in his
book, The Reformed Pastor, Baxter is eagerly encouraging those in ministry to know their called
identity as under shepherds of the Great Shepherd; and therefore following the model of Jesus
Christ earthly ministry as their personal template for shepherding the Lord s flock.
He does this by first expounding on the meaning behind the title of his work. It is not for those
of the reformed or Calvin doctrine, but for all those in ministry to continually be reforming the
character of their lives. This does not mean the reforming that is called to take place is solely
found in the reshaping of the mind through the doctrines of grace, though important. But it is a
wholistic reviving of their life; touching every aspect of it and coating it in the the doctrines of
grace; so that, to mirror and live as Christ lived, to be in His likeness. So the reforming of the
Pastor is not just for a micro and personal wholistic change but also for the people of God, causing
it to become a macro restyling and clothing in the doctrines of God. He is called to do this by
modeling the transforming power of the Word of God and

The stanza above highlights about the prodigious eagerness of Malay society. Hence, they cannot

Pros And Cons Of Made In America
Made in America
The trend towards outsourcing overseas and the slowly decreasing of American manufacturing has
made it very difficult to find American made goods, but not impossible. There are a few small
businesses that are still dedicated to manufacturing goods in the United States, but in today s
society, they are hard to come by. Buying goods manufacturing in the USA is something that us
consumers, business owners and even the government can do to support these businesses that
manufacture their products in America.
Pros:
1. No Language Barrier: Communication with your suppliers would be much easier if you re

Outsourced jobs are usually done by workers who are overworked, underpaid, sometimes physically
abused or work in dangerous working environments.
3. Environment: By manufacturing goods in the United States, air pollution and environmental
burdens will definitely increase. Much of the production and manufacturing in America is
dependent on energy and relies on many different resources for producing goods. As Americans, we
want to live sustainably and support USA, but by increasing United States manufacturing, we re
increasing air pollution and will continue hurting the environment if we re using American
resources and production.
4. Overseas Competition: 98% of clothes bought in the United States are made overseas, with
China being by far the leading country, which leaves only 2% made in America. There is no
way that America could even come close to the amount of goods that China produces. In just one
city in China, they manufacture 1/3 of the world s socks! I don t think it is even feasible to
compete with China now, or ever. What we re good at manufacturing here in the United States is
the production of advanced goods such as winter proof, waterproof, and wind proof clothing. But
besides that, I don t think we will ever be able to compete with China s high rate of production.
Small businesses are responsible for two out of every three new jobs created in the U.S. We need

Social Class And Social Structure In The Elizabethan Era
Social classes play a major role in society and shape the roles of the people. Since the Elizabethan
period began, the social classes were well structured with many influences, such as prestige or

public. The social classstructure in the Elizabethan Era was thought to be strict and very well
organized, yet still had many opportunities and flaws which lead to changes in citizens lives.

Different Approaches For A Infertile Couples
Different Approaches Used to Treat Infertile Couples Research on applicability of specific models
of couple therapy for couples facing issues around infertility and treatment is limited because of
the array of psychological and interpersonal problems the couples face. One approach researched is
cognitive behavioral marital therapy (CBMT). According to theorists of cognitive behavior, change
in behaviors within a couple arises through marital distress (Myers Wark, 1996). The behaviors
occur disproportionately damaging to the relationship when compared to the benefit of the
behavior (Myers Wark, 1996). The applicability of this model in addressing problems related to
infertility experienced by couplescan address a broad range of issues: individual response to
unconscious thoughts, and self evaluation and perceptions, sexual dysfunction, and function of
communication in a marital relationship (Myers Wark, 1996). An argument against the use of
CBMT in working with couples with issues of infertility is that the focus on behavior of the
approach lacks sympathy. For this particular population of couples, the approach may not be
perceived as suitable to meet their needs in struggling with an emotionally charged issue (Myers
Wark, 1996). Other approaches used to address infertility issues couples face include national
organizations. One such organization is RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association which
provides a variety of supports to couples and families. They

Book Smell Analysis
Hands gently stroking the worn cover, fingers slowly turning the yellowed pages, a sweet, musty,

Ultra High Performance Concrete ( Uhpc )
1.Introduction
Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) represents a major progress step over normal strength
concrete (NSC) and high strength concrete (HSC), through the achievement of very high strength
and very low permeability. Basically, the UHPC is a concrete with compressive strength ranging
120 to 400 MPa, this ultra high strength is achieved through different techniques including the use
of improved materials, ultra fine pozzolans (e.g. silica fume), low water cement ratio, improved
quality and higher dosage of superplasticizer, use of fibers (metallic or synthetic) to increase the
energy absorption capacity and decrease brittleness, high cementitious materials content, longer
mixing time and heat treatment [1]. UHPC tensile strength varies from 10 to 30 MPa; and the
modulus of elasticity is in the range of 60 100 GPa [2].
Using UHPC in the construction of new bridges and the renewal of existing highway bridge
network can minimize maintenance requirement in the construction of new long life bridges
resulting in low life cycle costs [3].
Despite its exceptional material properties, UHPC s initial construction cost is significantly higher
than that of normal strength concrete (NSC), which limited its use in North America and elsewhere.
To address some of the challenges facing bridge owners, the structural efficiency and cost
effectiveness of using UHPC in composite construction is investigated in this paper. Therefore,
combining NSC with UHPFRC in a composite

The city of Riyadh was eventually forced to recognize Yemen s republican government.
Now as then, Riyadh sees the struggle in Syria as a defining moment. As the leader of the Sunni
Muslim world, it perceives an opportunity to check what it sees as Iranian plans to encircle the
kingdom with hostile Shiite dominated regimes. As the war has taken on a more sectarian
character, the usually reserved foreign minister, Prince Saud al Faisal, has described Assad s

reference to the presence of Iranian and Hezbollah forces.
It is no secret that the Saudis are supplying elements of the Syrian opposition with weapons. They
all but admitted as much when the prince said a few weeks ago that if the international community

The Saudis will use all tools available to oust Assad, while taking measures to ensure that the

My Watson to His Holmes
It was another typical Thursday night in the office Rudy was looking over his notes from the
investigation, while I was re checking my personal notes to see if there were any differences.
The force s own detectives are pretty lousy, so it s only natural that we were on the case.
Besides, if it wasn t for the new sergeant that fired us both a year ago because of longstanding
reasons , all of this wouldn t even be happening. Rudy has gotten over it for the most part, but I
still hold a grudge to this very day. Stacy, I need a drink! Rudy yelled out from his desk. Yeah,
yeah, I got ya covered. I replied. I set down my notes on the table, and grabbed the half empty
bottle of whiskey which I stored in the kitchen. I noticed two shot glasses on his desk guess he
really wanted to take a break. We ve been going at it for hours, so why not? I can t tell the last
time I saw Rudy this enthused in a case there were stacks of folders on the table behind him,
various photos of the victims pinned up on the board with names, descriptions, and other notable
info, and perhaps the most glaring feature of his office the desk he was leaning on was buried in
mountains of paperwork, evidence, and cigarette butts. Yeah, he s been hard at work. I m
surprised that you actually found some time to take a break, Rudy. I said, pouring the drinks.
Well, it was only eventual. he said, pushing the dossiers aside. He took a shot as soon as I finished
pouring. He flinched a bit, but

Salman Rushdie s The Satanic Verses
The Cultural Aspects of Salman Rushdie s
The Satanic Verses So India s problem turned out to be the world s problem. What happened in
India has happened in God s name. The problem s name is God. This quote is said by Salman
Rushdie, the author of The Satanic Verses. Rushdie coming from an Indian background shows
the cultural aspects of life in an Indian culture. The quote said by Rushdie can be controversial in
many ways. The people who believe in God would not accept this quote in a good way because the
higher archie for them would be their God which is being dishonoured in Rushdie s quote. This
connects to the book The Satanic Versesas Rushdie explains the different appearances in an
Indian culture such as Reincarnation, Miracles and the Indian Identity. These three references
play a major role in this book and specifically in the Indian society. The assumption of
Reincarnation plays a big role in Satanic Verses. Reincarnation was always a big topic with
Gibreel, for fifteen years of the biggest star in the history of the biggest star in the history of the

Nimrud Research Paper
The remains of the city, Nimrud, tell many stories about itself throughout its lifespan. Even though
most of the remains left today were destroyed by an Islamic terrorist group, we can still replicate,
through the architecture, the lives of the Nimrud people. Through the statues built and the reliefs
on the walls we can determine the everyday lives, wars, and divinity that the people of Nimrudlived
among.
Sir Layard was the first to head an excavation team at Nimrud. He choose this site considering his
earlier travels near Nimrud. One of his major find was the sculpture of the King Ashurnasirpal II.
From the expedition were two colossal winged lions, which Layard insisted be kept intact, unlike
similar lamassu from Khorsabad that had been cut into smaller sections for their transportation to
the Louvre Museum. Layard moved his winged lions whole, much in the same way they had
originally been transported to Nimrud in antiquity. His findings were shipped to The British
Museum where they became the centerpiece of their art. 1 This sentence from his book shows how
much he wanted to preserve the art and architecture of Nimrud. Sir Layard wanted to keep these

The P L Of The Month
Denny ,
After reviewing the P L of the month of December 2015 we had some issues in the fallowing

Bad Debit
1 During the month of December we had a charge back on a customer check for $475 , the check
was accepted after the system glitches and the authorization wasn t printed on the back of the check

this is an easy fix as well as Counterfeit Detector Pens should be used all the time on every single
large bill before accepting it .
3 During the first month after grand opening we lost $181 in deposit discrepancies $175 of the
noted discrepancy was due to issuing POG card without an the proper offset in the POS to offset

Differences Between The Governmental Accounting Standard...
Comparing and Contrasting The Difference Between GASB and FASB By: Chris Lawson Keiser
University For as long as human interactions have allowed the exchange of value between goods
or services, accountancy has been the language of which business transactions are speaking (Salem,
2013). Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for
profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all
reality it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone
different set of standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are
two main standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards
for its corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they
are also very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. Throughout
the rest of this paper I will not only compare and contrast the differences between the
Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standard Board
(FASB), but also how they differ when it comes to their reporting requirements. To get a better
understanding of who these standard setters are, let s go over a brief history and background of
these two accounting standard boards. The first standard board to be discussed is FASB. FASB
was created in 1973, after the Accounting Principle Board

Japanese Internment Camp
Photograph #1 shows a large group of Japanese Americans lining up behind a table, for what
appears to be their registration into a Japanese internment camp. Within the group, you can see
looks of confusion and distress on most of the adult faces, as well as looks of confusion and crying
from the children. Many of the Japanese Americans are carrying few belongings other than the man
to the left with one bag in his hand, and the woman in front of him who has an item in her hands; it
is implied that after registering their names with the United Statesgovernment representatives at the
table, they will be sent to the internment camps with what they have. With the confusion on their
faces as well, it could be assumed that some people did not even know that they could take
belongings with them to the camps. It could also be assumed that many in the line are not sure why
they have to register in these camps, as they have been living normal American lives up until this
point in 1942. The idea for these camps was brought on by propaganda, creating fears amongst not
only regular citizens, but government officials as well ( Japanese American Internment2016). Over
127,000 Japanese Americans were imprisoned when the camps had first been developed, up until
the last camp was closed in 1946 ( Japanese Relocation 2016). The... Show more content on

Copper Statue Analysis
Mohamad Habehh Walking around The Metropolitan Museum of Art, there are many ancient
pieces of art and old artifacts on display. One of the art pieces that caught my eye was the Head
of a Ruler, from ancient Iranian or Mesopotamian times. I chose this figure because the person
depicted in the copper head looked like an important figure of the time. The man is well
groomed and has an emotionless face, but it also looks like he is portraying a little confidence
in his expressionless face. Considering this is a copper statue, I think it is safe to say it was not
completed in a short amount of time, leaving me to wonder if the man posed for the figure.
Whether he posed for it or not, it still gives off the vibe that he held a high title in society. There
was no indication on the display of who the man was or what his role was, only assumptions that
supported my ideas that the man was an important figure in that society, possibly a ruler or king.
This figure makes me curious in the sense that this man was obviously an important figure during
ancient times, but he cannot be identified in modern times. I also can t help but assume he might
not have made a great impact in society, whether he was a king, ruler, or even... Show more content

There are cracks throughout the figure due to age and possible mishandling. It is fairly simple
in terms of detail. While there is some extent of texture in the man s face and skin, it is hard to
tell whether it was intentional or due to average erosion. The features of the man s face are
extremely realistic, nonetheless. The eyes are hollow, which initially led me to believe the entire
figure is hollow. While the description does say that there were other supports inside the hollow
figure to hold the figure in place, there is no other physical indication that the figure is hollow. The
artist must have been extremely talented to be able to make a very realistic looking figurine of a
man using a hollow

Freedom Of Speech And The Right Of Bear Arms
After 9/11, Netanyahu argued against regarding basic liberties such free speech and the right to
bear arms as absolutes. In modern western society, we have rights, such as freedom of speech, and
in some countries, the right to bear arms. In response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Netanyahu
argues that these rights are not universal to everybody. We need to set limits as to how far these
rights can take us and suspend these rights for some people, because not everybody deserves to be
granted these rights. At times when we are under threat from terrorism, we need to reduce freedom
of speech and the second amendment in order to protect ourselves. There are also people who do
not deserve these rights at all, because they will use them in order to further the terrorists agenda.
Freedom of speech will encourage people to convince others that terrorist acts are acceptable, and
will further convince people to join terrorist organizations and participate in terrorist acts.
Furthermore, Netanyahu believes that terrorism is something that should not be taken lightly. We
must do everything in our power to prevent and fight terrorism, and reducing the levels of rights
that we have is one of the measures that we have to take. It is not only what we should do in the
country that we live in. Netanyahu believes that we should take a hardline approach to terrorism. It
is important for us to go into other countries and fight terrorists through whatever methods are
necessary,

Howl, By Allen Ginsberg
Howl for Somebody I Never Met in a Place I Never Heard of about a Cause we Already Won
Howl, by Allen Ginsberg, is an inaccessible writing with such obscure references from a unique
personal life and small subculture from 50 years ago that it cannot stand on its own today. It tackles
issues society has already decided, makes them completely unrelatable, and attempts to shock
readers. Except to literary historians, this poem is irrelevant to modern society because of constant
references to obscure places and people, frequent vulgarity to which internet based society has been
desensitized, and societal issues that already have national level attention.
To get Howl, you just had to be there. Ginsberg acknowledges that the poem was not ... Show more

However, no readers outside this tight knit group of poets would ever know Ginsberg was
referring to real events, except in the one line where he almost parenthetically states, that
actually happened, which serves as a point of contrast by which a reader may presume none of
the other events actually happened. Carl Solomon features heavily in part three, but a first time
reader has no idea who he is, why he is, or even when he was. The best an uninformed reader can
say is that he is in Rockland, and that it might not be a nice place; the severity of said not nicity
might range from the local government confining residents in straightjackets to simply having an
unusually high population of mosquitoes during a rainy season. Even when making a reference
that people outside his circle of friends would know, Ginsberg chooses Tokay, a wine, which to
some readers, is nothing more than a species of gecko that lives on some South West Pacific
islands. Interestingly enough, soldiers fighting wars across these islands called the Tokay Gecko
the F you lizard for its call, which to some sounded like tokay, but sounded like F you to the
soldiers. Other places Ginsberg references that will mean nothing to farmers in Iowa or Wall Street
investors include: Paterson, Paradise Alley, Fugazzi, and Bowery.
At times, Howl gets somewhat explicit, mentioning gyzym, cocksuckers, anal sex, and granite
cocks. Thematic referencing aside, nothing

Battle of the Bulge
The battle of the bulge
The battle of the bulge was Hitler s last chance to win the war or at least make the allies go for a
treaty. He did this because his forces were being pushed back into Germany and soon they would
run out of supplies and other resources for war. Hitler thought of this bold plain when he recalled
how a German hero Frederick the great was facing defeat, Frederick went on a offensive attack at
his foe who had superior numbers but the bold moved worked and Hitler thought he could do the
same thing.
The Battle of the bulge took place on December sixteenth 1944. More than a million men
participated in this battle including some 600,000 Germans, 500,000 Americans, and 55,000 British
which made it one of the biggest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

German soldiers who spoke English fluently were infiltrated behind the Allied lines wearing
American uniforms with orders to disrupt the deployment of Allied units and prepare the way for
the German advance.
The crucial problem for the German was their lack of fuel and the whole adventure depended on
their initial thrust capturing the allied supplies. Without a supply of fuel they where sitting ducks
but only if they ever ran out. Hitler s last attack had to work or he would be defeated. The plan was
to march 85 miles from Southern Belgium to Luxembourg and attack the allies by surprise. The
Germans would attack during the Christmas season in the Ardennes Forest, an area where there
were only a few allied solders. The invasion was designed to split the American and British armies
in half. However it did not succeed the allied lines bent but never split like the Germans hoped.
At the beginning of the battle Hitler had fighter jets fly over his troops which sent his troops fired
up for the fight now they could see Hitler did have the wonder weapons he said he had. With this
battle happening the Germans did one of the most worst things, as some Americans surrendered the
Germans would shoot them

Assignment On Social Identity Theory Essay
TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES MUMBAI GROUP WORK ASSIGNMENT ON
SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY Submitted to: Professor Vijay Raman Enrollment No.:
M2015CF026 SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY The Social Identity Theory was developed by
Tajfel and Turner in 1979. The theory was originally developed to understand the psychological
basis of intergroup discrimination. Tajfel in 1971 attempted to identify the minimal conditions
that would lead members of one group to discriminate in favour of the in group to which they
belonged and against another out group. In simple words Social identity is a person s sense of
who they are based on their group membership. Later in 1979 Tajfel proposed that the groups
(e.g. social class, family, company etc.) which people belonged to were an important source of
pride and self esteem. Groups give us a sense of social identity: a sense of belonging to the social
world. In order to increase our self image we enhance the status of the group to which we belong.
For example, TISS is a top ranked university in India. We can also increase our self image by
discriminating and holding prejudice views against the out group (the group we don t belong to).
For example, the other slightly lower ranked institutes. Therefore we have divided students into
them and us based through a process of social categorization. This is known as in group (us) and out
group (them). Social identity theory states that the in group will discriminate against the out group to

Not much is given about his early life and family structure, except that he had three brothers.
Since he could not afford to attend a university in Korea, Kwon applied to work on Hawaii s sugar
plantations. In 1905, the year that the Korean labor supply to Hawaii was cut off, he successfully
immigrated as a seventeen year old sugar plantation laborer with the hopes of fleeing poverty (Pai
4, Takai 238). Approaching his mid 20 s as a young bachelor, he was working as a yardboy for a
Mr. Hackfeld when his picture bride sailed across the ocean. Afterwards with the help of a friend,
Kwon took up a more respectable job as an apprentice upholsterer at the Coyne Furniture
Company. As years passed and he became noted as one of the most prestigious upholsterers in
Hawaii, the company he was working for shut down, causing him to lose his job in 1928. Young
Soon Han states, The most viable businesses would be the same ones they [Koreans] did before,
because...they have only this experience (249). Just like the solution to the Korean liquor
storeowners who lost their businesses in the L.A. riots, Kwon s solution was to get back into the
same business. The only difference was that this time he was an entrepreneur. Despite Lee s
disappointment in her failed pursuit of a college education and the financial instability she
unexpectedly encountered in a foreign country, she formed a strong, supportive relationship with her

Common Stereotypes In Native American Film
In the film The Searchers, Ethan Edwards returned from the civil war hoping that he would find
his home, family and the woman he secretly admired. However, the Comanche Massacre
shattered his hopes. This made him swear to himself that he would pursue all his relatives and
bring them home. Together with his Indian nephew Martin, he embarked on a long journey in
search for his niece, who had been kidnapped by the Indians. In the process of the search, Martin
correctly suspects his uncle of intending to kill his niece, as she had been defiled by being
assimilated by the Indians (Owens). Just like in many others films, it did not take long to know that
Indians inhabited a troubled and troubling space in John Wayne s movies (Owens). Fortunately, due
to Martin s intervention Ethan spares his niece s life. It was Ford s classic movie, The Searchers

America, the Indians. Wayne is portrayed as a bitter Indian hater (Owens). On the other hand, the

  • 2. Speech About Florence Kelley I am writing to you on the behalf of Florence Kelley, a student I have taught since 1890. She hopes to further her education at United States University. Kelley has always been extremely hard working, empathetic, and compassionate, and strongly believes in the rights of all people, especially women and children. A perfect example of this is when she said, For the sake of the children, for the Republic in which these children will vote after we are dead, and for the sake of our cause, we should enlist the workingmen voters, with us, in this task of freeing the children from toil (Wamsley, 1336 1358). In this quote, Kelley was encouraging voters to vote for the abolition or at least limitation of child labor. As one can see, she is very persuasive and deeply cares about her work; she truly wants to free children from suffering due to unnecessary work. This considerate mindset is apparent in her entire work ethic and philosophy. When Kelley was a young girl, her father, US Congressman William Darrow Kelley, exposed her to many social rights issues, such as women s suffrage and abolition (Carson and Bonk). Talking about these issues from a young age inspired her to introduce many reforms and change others lives for the better when she became older. Many of her successes can be contributed to a lifetime of discussing politics at the dinner table. Had she not had these experiences from a young age, she may not have made so many significant changes to the country. Additionally, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Having A Two-Handed Play Educating Rita Educating Rita by Willy Russell Educating Rita , is a two handed play which only has two characters and one set. Educating Rita was written in 1985 by Willy Russell, it looks at how the relationship between two people, Rita and Frank, develops as the play goes on. Educating Rita is the story of Rita, a hairdresser who decides to go to University in order to discover who she really is. When she arrives at University she meets Frank, a lazy alcoholic who doesn t really care about being a University lecturer. At first, Frank refuses to teach Rita but he soon finds he has a soft spot for Rita and decides to teach her everything he knows about English Literature. I will be analysing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That particular scene emphasised how their relationship was progressing and would not have been highlighted as much if there were more characters in the play. Another benefit of having a two handed play is, as an audience we can concentrate particularly on just the two main characters, even though we are told of others. As a result, we aren t distracted by insignificant characters or minor concerns, this would only confuse the audience about what is going on in the play. There are many characters that are mentioned in the play by Frank and Rita that we don t hear any dialogue from. For example, we hear about Denny, Rita s husband, about Julia, Frank s partner, and about Trish, Rita s flatmate, who attempts to kill herself. The financial and logistical implications are also a benefit for Educating Rita being a two handed play because, as there is only one set used in the whole play, therefore, the play is cheaper to stage as they don t have to pay for another set to be built or rented. Also more money is saved from the play s budget as the director only has to pay the wages of two characters. More benefits of Educating Rita being a two handed play are that minor characters or concerns in the play do not distract the audience, therefore they can focus all their ... • 4. Delusion Definition Essay A delusion is a false belief that is resistant to reason. Delusions are often the cause of people s unhappiness in life, because delusions hold people back from living their life to the fullest and being what they were meant to be. The most common delusions are fear of rejection and insecurity in one s self. My own delusionis my insecurity. From when I was a young child, I have always been the bigger friend. I went to a school that predominantly consisted of girls who could eat eight Big Macs and still never gain a pound. These girls knew they themselves were skinny and they made sure those who weren t were picked on. These actions caused me to always second guess myself. Did I look too big in this outfit? • 6. Theme Of Satire In Gulliver s Travels Satire in Gulliver s Travels First published in 1726, Gulliver s Travels is a momentous piece of literature which defined the satirical genre and empowered writers of following generations to assume the responsibility of keeping the government in check and exposing corruption. The novel accomplices this through its nuanced prose and wild exhibitions of imagery, subliminally mocking and satirizing facets of the cultures he s introduced to. Exploring themes of corruption, religious division and hypocrisy, and cultural progressivism, Gulliver s travels implements and employs various allusions and metaphors as a means of pushing his agenda. This contrast is best exhibited between the inhabitants of Gulliver s third and fourth voyage, as their societies are exhibit a proclivity for the scientific world and the natural world, respectively. This contrast evokes thought over what makes an advanced society and alludes to the intellectual and traditional wars raging in Europe, both in the academic realm with hobbes and in the political realm as the concept of self governance began to emerge. Gulliver s travels is irrevocably one of the most influential and notorious novels to ever be written. The critiques of society were felt like a sting throughout the continent while his humorous tales warmed the spirits of many citizens. The novel s striking satire helped define a generation and propel literature into a new mindset and motivation. The clever metaphors and well constructed allusions allowed for a cohesive and intriguing depiction of a fantasy through a realistic lense. • 10. The Problem Of The Classroom Authority Attention colleague: I have surveyed some of my students about the quality of your class, per your request. The overwhelming response I received related specifically to how you deliver instructions in the class. Many students reflected that when ask questions such as Is that where that book goes? , What did you forget to put on your paper? , and Would you like to sit down? you lose your credibility as the classroom authority. I am writing concerning this issue because of my desire to share with you information I have recently learned in relation to the differences in characteristics of authority between white, working class communities and black, poverty stricken communities. I will also explain the linguistic concept code switching, which is the ability to read the context of an environment and actively choose the language style that fits the environment, as mentioned in Wheeler (2008), and how this will lend a hand to you having more of an authoritative presence in the classroom. In the classroom, educators are the ones wielding the power and I believe you already understand this, which plays out in how educators speak to their students. From all the information my students have given me, I believe you are talking to them the same way your middle working class parents spoke to you and I believe that you understand that when you ask students to perform a task, you are implicitly telling them to complete the task. Delpit (1998) says that working class white parents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Abuse Of Animal Abuse Did you know about 10 million animals get abused and neglected every year? Circuses and Zoos are prime examples of animal abuse and neglect. Animals like tigers, elephants, dolphins, and whales should be in their natural habitat. These animals shouldn t be in small rusty cages, and crowded pools. There are also people who illegally fight animals for money; i.e. Dog fighting, cock fighting, etc. These animals fight for their lives, but the owners don t care about whether or not they die, they just want money. Animals should not be used for our entertainment. Animals are not given the choice of going into the entertainment world. People gamble on dog fighting, cock fighting, etc. Wild cats and elephants in circuses endure abuse and neglect to be taught how to jump through hoops of fire. SeaWorld neglects their animals once they get sick, and these animals are given merely any space. Animal fighting is illegal in all 50 states in the U.S. and in district Of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Yet animal fighting happens almost every day. Most of the animals that fight are dogs, cocks, or hogs. Dog owners like to train their dogs how to be aggressive. They chain their dog outside out of reach from other animals and people. The dogs are given basic veterinary care and nutrition because the owners care about winning, not about the dogs themselves. Some fighting dogs get steroids to enhance their muscles and increase their aggressiveness. These dogs also get legal and illegal drugs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, women are reported to be more conforming and to have lower expectations of success than men do. Also, Women s absenteeism rates tend to be higher than those of men. This latter finding may change, however, as we see men starting to play a more active role in raising children; absenteeism is also likely to be less frequent as telecommuting, flexible working hours, and the like become more prevalent. In respect to pay, women s earnings have risen slowly from 59 percent of men s in 1979 to 76 percent most recently (2003,pg.63). This research is basically showing that once men and women start acquiring the same roles in the work and home environment, there is nothing excluding a woman from working a mans job. Companies may soon realize it might be helpful to have a woman in a certain position to acquire a certain goal in mind. Another aspect of equal opportunity in the working environment is the differences between racial and ethnic groups. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 again protects employees against harassment, ... • 17. We Are Contaminating Our Oceans in the Name of Progress The demands of the industrial nations and newly industrializing emerging economies, particularly China and India, for energy and mineral resources led to an accumulation of quantities of goods being transported from far distant countries via seas. The use of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) is in consideration for Russia when negotiating with Korean shippers for energy shipments. Beijing officials believe that by the end of the decade five to fifteen percent of their country s international trade, mainly container traffic, will use the NSR (Blank, 2014). With plans to expand polar research, Beijing has strived to create better policies due to the change in climate. Moreover, according to an article last May, Singapore s Arctic diplomacy is driven primarily by an ambition to exploit an emerging market niche in which it sees itself as a technological and expertise leader (Straits Times, 2013). However, the pursuit for the Arctic s rich resources and convenient location has caused rivalries in trade, such as that between India and China. Nonetheless, tensions between countries will continue to progress if not stabilized by national security or some sort of negotiation between these countries. Markets are increasingly becoming globalized, hence escalating shipping volumes. Trade between countries without a common border is carried mainly overseas. In this day and age crime is crazy, a leap in crimes committed, the population is growing and so the demand for technology is increasing, this only results in more crime, more criminals and more witnesses. Joint enterprise is a new law recently re introduced aiming to reduce the amount of criminals but ended up punishing the innocent witnesses. Joint enterprise is a topic in which experts have been debating about for a long time. Some believe that joint enterprise is a form of human rights abuse whereas others think it is just. For example the case Derek Bentley, a vulnerable teenager, who was hanged despite public outrage in 1953 after being convicted of murder under joint enterprise law as he was accused of murdering a police officer. His conviction was overturned almost fifty years later exclusively due to the efforts of his sister Iris. His sister Iris made a massive campaign, which was initially led by Derek s parents until they died, which led to his remains being removed from Wandsworth Prison and reburied in a family grave. The spinning claws and projectiles are launched from his back and stomach area which replicate the barrel of a tank. Ridley is a slim and slippery space dragon which has the ability to fly and to propel a burst of fireballs. In the original Metroid he is capable of dodging attacks from Samus with the use of flying. In contrast to this, the Mother Brain displays the animation of a pulsating mechanical brain with an immense amount of flowing energy without the access of limbs. • 20. Descriptive Essay On The Fire Footsteps Many years ago, on August 15th, 1733, a small, unnamed town was nearly submerged in scorching hot flames. A man named Louis James Tacha was one of the civilians that was killed by the fire. Louis tried to help other people who have been swept away by the fire near the swinging bridge. The sleeve of his white, long shirt sparked with a flame which engulfed the rest of his body within seconds. He frantically tried to escape the snare of the fire, but his attempts failed. He decided to jump into a rocky, fast moving river as his last attempt to survive. Louis James Tacha s body was never found. Some say his spirit still lurks around the swinging bridge to make others disappear into the river to symbolize how quickly someone can be forgotten. The few survivors of the fire gave the name, Burnside, to the town to remember the event that took place on that cool summer night. Today, August 12th, 1983, is a big day for thirteen year old, Marcie Goupil, as she goes to an all girls summer camp in Burnside, Tennessee, for her first time. Marcie is aroused with excitement as she places her last few shirts into her over filled duffle bag. As Marcie and her dad pull up to the camp, she sees large, dull looking trees with pointy branches, and leaves that started to change colors, just barely covering a sign that reads, Camp Rio. As a child she had cancer in her face so she had surgery to remove but it caused her face to be deformed. Consequently, she was bullied because of the way she looked, which caused her self esteem to lower immensely. As a result, she had undergone many surgeries and even went as far as to travel to another country to try and fix her face. Therefore, as she gets older she not only alters herself physically but mentally. She finally realizes that how people see us should not influence how we view ourselves not only physically but mentally as well. So she decides to never lookat a mirror because she feels she does not have to to know what she looks like anymore. She finally accepted the way she looks and started focussing on her personal well being and recognizes that s what is actually important. Society has a critical impact on the way we see ourselves because of the way social media shows us that we should look a certain way, people telling us we should look a certain way, your negative thoughts about how you look, and how society determines your value based on looks. The punishment was to have an unstoppably heavy weight suppressed onto one s chest to represent the drive a person had to keep or carelessly spend their riches/possessions. In this ring Dante saw men of the clergy, including popes and cardinals. I would closely relate greed to gluttony because the overconsumption of food is basically being greedy and not sharing with others, even though these two are closely related, I still stand by with rearranging lust and gluttony because I feel greed is much worse. With Christianity, for the most part, everyone would go out of their way to help one another. I feel this is mostly among the poorer people because they would appreciate one another s efforts and open to sharing and trading what they could muster. As for people such as some kings, popes, and higher classes, since they had their riches, and far more positions, sharing was not on their agenda, again I m not saying all higher class people did this. For those who carelessly spend their riches, they only think about themselves rather than helping out the poor. I can think of quite a few people now a day s that would definitely be ing this ring. • 31. Importance Of Being A Minister Of Christ Essay Why does Richard Baxter emphasis the importance of being a minister of Christ? If there is anything that is to be the characteristic of the reformed pastor it is that his mind and life must bear the image of the servanthood of Christ. Following after Christ words, I have come not to be served but to serve others and to give my life as a ransom for many .This is why in his book, The Reformed Pastor, Baxter is eagerly encouraging those in ministry to know their called identity as under shepherds of the Great Shepherd; and therefore following the model of Jesus Christ earthly ministry as their personal template for shepherding the Lord s flock. He does this by first expounding on the meaning behind the title of his work. It is not for those of the reformed or Calvin doctrine, but for all those in ministry to continually be reforming the character of their lives. This does not mean the reforming that is called to take place is solely found in the reshaping of the mind through the doctrines of grace, though important. But it is a wholistic reviving of their life; touching every aspect of it and coating it in the the doctrines of grace; so that, to mirror and live as Christ lived, to be in His likeness. So the reforming of the Pastor is not just for a micro and personal wholistic change but also for the people of God, causing it to become a macro restyling and clothing in the doctrines of God. • 36. Different Approaches For A Infertile Couples Different Approaches Used to Treat Infertile Couples Research on applicability of specific models of couple therapy for couples facing issues around infertility and treatment is limited because of the array of psychological and interpersonal problems the couples face. One approach researched is cognitive behavioral marital therapy (CBMT). According to theorists of cognitive behavior, change in behaviors within a couple arises through marital distress (Myers Wark, 1996). The behaviors occur disproportionately damaging to the relationship when compared to the benefit of the behavior (Myers Wark, 1996). The applicability of this model in addressing problems related to infertility experienced by couplescan address a broad range of issues: individual response to unconscious thoughts, and self evaluation and perceptions, sexual dysfunction, and function of communication in a marital relationship (Myers Wark, 1996). An argument against the use of CBMT in working with couples with issues of infertility is that the focus on behavior of the approach lacks sympathy. For this particular population of couples, the approach may not be perceived as suitable to meet their needs in struggling with an emotionally charged issue (Myers Wark, 1996). Other approaches used to address infertility issues couples face include national organizations. One such organization is RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association which provides a variety of supports to couples and families. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Admit it, we have all sniffed the pages of a book before. Any book lover is familiar with this smell. • 39. Ultra High Performance Concrete ( Uhpc ) 1.Introduction Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) represents a major progress step over normal strength concrete (NSC) and high strength concrete (HSC), through the achievement of very high strength and very low permeability. Basically, the UHPC is a concrete with compressive strength ranging 120 to 400 MPa, this ultra high strength is achieved through different techniques including the use of improved materials, ultra fine pozzolans (e.g. silica fume), low water cement ratio, improved quality and higher dosage of superplasticizer, use of fibers (metallic or synthetic) to increase the energy absorption capacity and decrease brittleness, high cementitious materials content, longer mixing time and heat treatment [1]. UHPC tensile strength varies from 10 to 30 MPa; and the modulus of elasticity is in the range of 60 100 GPa [2]. Using UHPC in the construction of new bridges and the renewal of existing highway bridge network can minimize maintenance requirement in the construction of new long life bridges resulting in low life cycle costs [3]. Despite its exceptional material properties, UHPC s initial construction cost is significantly higher than that of normal strength concrete (NSC), which limited its use in North America and elsewhere. To address some of the challenges facing bridge owners, the structural efficiency and cost effectiveness of using UHPC in composite construction is investigated in this paper. Therefore, combining NSC with UHPFRC in a composite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Actually it is not so much of a battle as it is a total, one sided bombardment of this country. Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all reality it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone different set of standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are two main standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards for its corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they are also very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. Throughout the rest of this paper I will not only compare and contrast the differences between the Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB), but also how they differ when it comes to their reporting requirements. It could also be assumed that many in the line are not sure why they have to register in these camps, as they have been living normal American lives up until this point in 1942. One of the art pieces that caught my eye was the Head of a Ruler, from ancient Iranian or Mesopotamian times. I chose this figure because the person depicted in the copper head looked like an important figure of the time. The man is well groomed and has an emotionless face, but it also looks like he is portraying a little confidence in his expressionless face. Considering this is a copper statue, I think it is safe to say it was not completed in a short amount of time, leaving me to wonder if the man posed for the figure. Whether he posed for it or not, it still gives off the vibe that he held a high title in society. There was no indication on the display of who the man was or what his role was, only assumptions that supported my ideas that the man was an important figure in that society, possibly a ruler or king. In modern western society, we have rights, such as freedom of speech, and in some countries, the right to bear arms. In response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Netanyahu argues that these rights are not universal to everybody. We need to set limits as to how far these rights can take us and suspend these rights for some people, because not everybody deserves to be granted these rights. At times when we are under threat from terrorism, we need to reduce freedom of speech and the second amendment in order to protect ourselves. There are also people who do not deserve these rights at all, because they will use them in order to further the terrorists agenda. Freedom of speech will encourage people to convince others that terrorist acts are acceptable, and will further convince people to join terrorist organizations and participate in terrorist acts. Furthermore, Netanyahu believes that terrorism is something that should not be taken lightly. We must do everything in our power to prevent and fight terrorism, and reducing the levels of rights that we have is one of the measures that we have to take. • 53. Assignment On Social Identity Theory Essay TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES MUMBAI GROUP WORK ASSIGNMENT ON SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY Submitted to: Professor Vijay Raman Enrollment No.: M2015CF026 SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY The Social Identity Theory was developed by Tajfel and Turner in 1979. The theory was originally developed to understand the psychological basis of intergroup discrimination. Tajfel in 1971 attempted to identify the minimal conditions that would lead members of one group to discriminate in favour of the in group to which they belonged and against another out group. In simple words Social identity is a person s sense of who they are based on their group membership. Later in 1979 Tajfel proposed that the groups (e.g. social class, family, company etc.) which people belonged to were an important source of pride and self esteem. Groups give us a sense of social identity: a sense of belonging to the social world. In order to increase our self image we enhance the status of the group to which we belong. For example, TISS is a top ranked university in India. We can also increase our self image by discriminating and holding prejudice views against the out group (the group we don t belong to). For example, the other slightly lower ranked institutes. Therefore we have divided students into them and us based through a process of social categorization. This is known as in group (us) and out group (them). Social identity theory states that the in group will discriminate against the out group to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
