Advantages Of Smart Watch
Smart watch vs. luxury watch, the battle for premier time A smartwatch is an automated wristwatch
which can run mobile applications, and allows one to access several functions such as a calculator,
compass, applications to book a cab and order groceries. This can also be used to make or answer
phone calls and to send text messages. There is a possibility that the luxury watch industry may lose
its customers to the smart watch industry. The luxury watches have had a high brand value and have
been a symbol of prestige, riches, status and classiness. The introduction of smart watch by tech savvy
companies such as Samsung, Motorola, Apple and Google has brought increased competition in the
watch industry.

Post Operative Education For A Coronary Artery Bypass...
Post Operative Education to a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient

Post Operative Education to a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient
One of the scariest medical diagnoses a patient can receive from a physician is, their heart is not
functioning properly. A malfunctioning heart will eventually lead to death if correction of the issue is
not attempted. The heart supplies the entire body with oxygenated blood but also needs its own supply
of oxygen rich blood. This is why coronary arteries are vital to the hearts ability to pump. A final
option to correcting malfunctioning coronary arteries is a surgical procedure, coronary artery bypass
grafting (CABG). Every year approximately 450,000 patients have CABG surgery in the United States
(Mullen Fortino O Brien, 2008). Based on continuing healthcare trends, more and more people each
year are having coronary artery issues, causing the need for CABG surgery to rise. Also patient
demographics are changing, they are older, sicker, have more extensive coronary artery blockage /
damage, and likely have poorer functioning ventricles of the heart (Sidebotham, McKee, Gillham
Levy, 2007). The nursing profession has a critical role in caring for the patients but also teaching and
educating them before and after any procedure. Education and teaching has been implemented into
evidence based practice for years to facilitate better patient

Identity Vs. Role Diffusion Crisis
Jordan is interviewing for a job at a fast food restaurant. During the interview, it would be in Jordan s
best interest to display the characteristics of an extroverted person. Eysenck described someone that is
of high degree in the extroversion scale as someone that is outgoing and sociable (436). The
interviewer would like someone that is outgoing instead of shy because customers appreciate someone
that is approachable. He would also look for someone that is sociable because customers like someone
that can carry out a conversation. Displaying these traits during the interview would make a lasting
impression on the interviewer. Showing the interviewer that he had a positive transition into adulthood
will make a positive impression and may lead to him getting the job. The Identity vs. Role diffusion
crisis is the change in personality between the adolescent years to early adulthood. If Jordan is able to
show that he had obtained a positive result to the identity crisis. By him displacing that he successfully
overcame his adolescent years, he would be more likely to get the job because of his maturity. If
Jordan shows his interviewer that he has a high internal locus of control, he would make a lasting
impression. The internal locus of control can best be described as perceiving that one s life is out of

Chemical and Biological Uses of Weapons of Mass Destruction
Chemical and Biological Uses of WMD
The threat by terrorist groups in using Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) has increased
significantly in the recent years. Preventing the creation and the utilization of these deadly weapons as
well as their delivery systems and reducing those already in existence, has become of extreme
importance to the government. Certain weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical and biological,
are easier to acquire but much harder to detect. For that reason, they should be the highest priority.
Predicting when and how an attack will occur, involving chemical or biological weapons, is not 100
percent possible; however, individuals should not ignore the possibility of such an attack happening
here on American soil. In the past, there have been attacks involving Sarin gas, such as the Tokyo
Subway attack, and just recently, the Sarin nerve agent use in Syria. Terrorist have the capability to
use chemical WMD and have shown that they are willing to use this method in warfare. In addition,
military biological WMD programs discovered in Iraq and Russia show that there is a definite
biological threat as well. Preparing America to face this threat head on is a daunting task, but lacking
preparedness could have devastating consequences beyond comprehension. Agencies, such as public
health organizations, must be prepared to prevent illness and injuries resulting from biological and
chemical terrorism, especially with a concealed attack by a terrorist.

Gender Bias In The Early Greek Culture
Gender Bias in the Early Greek Culture
It s important to know that discrimination is the unjust treatment of a person or thing based on age,
race, and or sexual orientation (CITE THIS). Discrimination is seen throughout the world s history in
forms of slavery, social inequality, racial bias, and gender inequality. Unfortunately, women in history
also faced discrimination by not having much of the same rights as men did. More specifically, when
looking at the history of the Greeks, one can clearly point out gender inequality in everyday life, law,
and even literature.
Athenian women were the subjects of bias in day to day life. A women s property was controlled by
her father until she entered an arranged marriage, usually at the age of fourteen. Her husband would
then supervise her and that was because it was believed that a woman could not act independently (
PAGE NUMBER). If they left the house or attended court they were accompanied by a male. They
didn t receive formal educations and couldn t act in plays. Women essentially couldn t do anything.
Women were seen as inferior to men and therefore were treated like such. This idea bled into the belief
that women should do things at home while the man goes off to work. Men were taking advantage of
women by stripping them from any potential power by controlling every aspect of their lives.
Although it may seem odd that women did not fight for their rights, many of them feared the
consequences for not obeying her husband,

Going To The War And Dulce Et Decorum Est
The two poems To lucasta going to the War by Richard Lovelace, and Dulce et Docorum Est by
Wilfred Owen both convey a very similar view of war but a different experience of battle. They both
contrast each other in that, Lovelace s poem presents the prewar view of war because Lovelace never
really saw war. He died before he actually made it to the ront line. War had been presented as glorious
and honorable for centuries and Lovelace poem reflects this with him being a 17th century aristocrats
with ties to the english royalty. In that environment a man s word was indeed his bond. If he had
promised to support his king, and then failed to do so he would have been publicly disgraced and
probably had to forfeit all his holdings and wealth and gone into exile. And no ... Show more content

It presents the actual during war and after fighting view of war. This poem describes a battle and a
death in the battle because Owen actually died in action or as a result of it which is passionate and
sorrowful. Bent double, like old beggars under sack, Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed
through shadge. This presents a different view of war. Look at the strong words that are used to depict
the action; haunting, blood shod, drunk with fatique, this is what war is really like, the poem implies.
So, don t give me that lie that it is glorious to die for one s country (Which is the translation of the title

goat; The goat has small horns. Its hair is sometimes shaggy; (the mountain can live through
temperatures as low as below 50 degrees.) Mountain goats often dwell in rocky cliffs at high
elevations throughout the year. The Glacier National Park has different kinds of forests; about 55% of
Glacier is covered with forest. The forest I went through was along the Avalanche Lake Trail. The
trees there were long and lanky; on the ground was moss and slippery rock. It made it difficult to walk

Vampire Subcultures
There are many subcultures in the United States that are strange to me that some people think are
completely normal. A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same interests,
beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture, to things like
bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies. There were some
more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me.
Strangely enough, vampires are already in people s imagination. Now they have a cultural group just
for their imagination. I m not trying to seem disrespectful to the vampire subculture, but it s honestly
strange that they think they are real vampires. This lifestyle formed in the western culture, stemming
from horror films, and overall styles of Victorian England. The vampire subculture is just like any
other system of beliefs. They commit themselves to this lifestyle and participate in rituals.
Continually, vampires dress themselves in gothic clothing with dark eye shadow, and black nail polish.
In this vampire lifestyle, you will find blood donors who are people who allow the vampires to drink
their actual blood. The donors are hard to find, but they are subservient to the vampires. There are
different types of vampires within the vampire subculture. They have the sanguinarians, the psychic
vampires, the living vampires, and the transcendental vampires. The sanguinarians who look at
themselves as real

The Pacific Northwest Region Is A Good First Step
While we have been focusing on the whole Pacific Northwest region as a whole this class, we have
finally delved into a subregion that is close to all of us: the Inland Empire. This area in the Pacific
Northwest came into being during the late 19th Century and encompassed much of Eastern
Washington, the Idaho Panhandle and parts of Eastern Oregon. The people of this region were very
proud of their land and some even held more pride for the Inland Empire than their own state. This
fierce loyalty to one s home was just as much a product of economic growth as many of the other
changes being see all around the Pacific Northwest in general. The Inland Empire was, and is, an
important subregion that was born of economic development and competition with the cities on the
coast.
To set the stage for the Inland Empire, a broader look at the changes occurring throughout the Pacific
Northwest region is a good first step. Around the late 19th century, the region was experiencing
economic boom. Industrialization of many of the region s commodities like salmon processing
flooded the region with money and immigrants. These peoples came from the Far East to work in the
factories and lumber mills that were making Seattle and other cities such as Portland and Tacoma
booming hubs of trade. Foreigners took note of the changes as well, Rudyard Kipling was just a young
man when he visited the region but he wrote about the progress in his journals. More Chinamen with

How Revolutions Caused The Negative Western Influences On...
Revolutions, whether successful or not, inevitably change the place in which they happen. In the early
20th century, nearly all of Africa was colonized by European powers. Colonialism, and Africans ill
feelings toward being colonized, inspired unity, desire for social change, and an urge for
independence. Revolutions were imminent in Africa due to the strict policies of segregation, social
structure, and feelings of superiority that the Europeans brought. These feelings were ingrained in
many people both consciously and sub consciously. Many Africans, after independence, fell back into
this old routine and when the white populations left, these feelings of superiority and the old social
structure continued to manifest itself Africa, only in a new form. This was, and continues to be Africa
s biggest problem today. The goal of revolution, and independence in Africa was to purge the negative
western influences and attitudes that Europeans had put in place. However, even after independence,
the same European powers, and their conglomerates continued to influence the governments and
people. Many people of Africa fell back into their old ways and had similar thought processes under
colonial rule. These fallbacks included superiority of men over women, social status, and the other
obligations that one has to society. As Winston Churchill famously remarked Those that fail to learn
history, are doomed to repeat it. It was this recession back into the European guidelines that

The Weary Blues
Lindsey Blasé Brown The Music of Sadness The Weary Blues, by Langston Hughes, tells a story of an
unnamed narrator recalling an evening of listening to a man sing the blues one night in Harlem.
Hughes uses a somber tone, depressed voice, syntax and imagery as language styles to convey a great
deal of suffering that was occurring in Harlem during the mid 1900 s. In The Weary Blues Hughes
uses imagery to communicate to the reader what the narrator is experiencing while listening to blues.
The reader can feel the slow and steady beat of the music: He did a lazy sway.../ He did a lazy sway...
(4 5). The flow of the two lines mimics the beat of the music. The reader can hear the pain in the voice
of the musician: In a deep voice with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Down on Lenox Avenue the other night ... O Blues! ... Sweet Blues! (3 4,11,14) When the narrator
says this, it tells the reader that he has a strong attachment to this memory and may be empathizing
with what the musician is singing. The rest of the poem is simply an account of the events that take
place that evening. Due to the lack of emotion from the narrator, the reader must look towards the
second character, the musician, for emotion that is behind the depressed voice. While the musician s
voice is only seen in the song lyrics, his voice plays the largest role communicating emotions to the
reader: I ain t happy no mo /And I wish that I had died (29 30). From this lyric the reader understands
that the musician is sad and appears to be depressed. At the end of the poem the narrator describes
what he believes the musician does: And far into the night he crooned that tune. The stars went out
and so did the moon. The singer stopped playing and went to bed While the weary blues echoed
through his head. (31 34) Due to the fact that the narrator could not actually know what the piano
player is thinking, the reader can say that the narrator is actually describing his own actions after
hearing the musician sing. Based on the lack of emotion given from the narrator and the blending of
the narrator and the musician s actions at the end of the poem, the speaker, has a common voice with
the piano player, both of whom are

Colonization Of Native American Education
Colonization was detrimental to not only the physical bodies of the Native Americans, but to their
minds as well. The shift in indigenous education was a destructive one; Western education completely
overtook the indigenous education that had thrived for generations. Instead of allowing education to
benefit both indigenous and European peoples, it was used as a tool to destroy indigenous culture.
When the settlers from Europe and Spain first came to the Americas, indigenous men and women
articulated their petitions for more educational spaces (Díaz 60). The attempt to share educational
spaces was continuously rejected by the settlers in an attempt to spur assimilation instead of
cooperation. Educational spaces were slowly transitioning to becoming ... Show more content on

Europeans had different ideologies than indigenous peoples when it came to land in terms of who
could own the land. As a result of European entitlement, they assumed that the land was available to
be taken. The process of removing indigenous people from their land began, and the settlers were
justifying it by suggesting that is was not necessarily stealing land, but rather it was saving the land
from being misused by the savages that lived there previously (Sahlins 19). Mindsets such as these
finalized the traumatic process of Native American invisibility as they were forced out of their land
and their homes. As a direct result of the stealing of indigenous land, racism began to influence other
decisions that the colonizers were making. The settlers began to spread the idea that they were more
intelligent and more capable of building a society than the Native Americans were. This mindset and
many others were used to justify things such as stealing the land from ocean to ocean, as well as
disrespecting many treaties and even slaughtering Native Americans to make them move off of their

By the end of 1860, it was becoming apparent that outdoor relief was draining community resources
as poverty increased throughout the United Kingdom and other forms of support were needing to be
created as people were becoming aware that it was not just a case of the poor seeking relief because of
their character, but more so of the conditions they were living in (Dulmus amp; Sowers, 2012).
The settlement movement became another key feature in establishing Social Work in a bid for society
to focus on the causes of poverty rather than the individual. This required the volunteer or social
worker to live in the houses with the residents, Neighbourhood based houses were established in a bid
to bring people together from different socio economic and cultural backgrounds to share knowledge,
skills and values (Chenoweth amp; McAuliffe, 2012, p. 35). In 1869, Octavia Hill focused
establishing support housing in London for the poor and organising groups and activities. Octavia
strongly believed that we were to help the poor help themselves by empowering people with rights to
encourage responsibility (Smith, 2008). Settlement houses soon established the first by Samuel and

How Does Heller Use Satire In Catch 22
Catch 22 is a novel that satirizes war. Throughout the novel, Joseph Heller creates humor in a dark
time. Additionally, he explains the paradox of a catch 22 and how it represents the hardships of a
soldier in World War II. Heller also makes fun of war. Characters, such as Major Major Major Major
and General Scheisskopf, have exaggerated names which brings humor to the novel. A final tactic
Heller uses is highlighting the worst parts of war. Extended bombing missions is an example of these
tragic parts in the war. In many ways, he uses satire in Catch 22 to point out the ridiculous and
pointless aspects of war.
Heller wrote Catch 22 to create humor within a dark time period. During World War II, he witnessed
many awful tragedies and experiences. He wrote this as a satire because he knew readers would not
want to read about war s harsh realities. The phrase catch 22 is humorous, yet represents the tragic
reality of war. A catch 22 is a paradox with a negative connotation. The classic version of a catch 22 in
the book was being discharged from the army. You could only be grounded from flying, and
discharged, if you were crazy. But if you were crazy, you would not ask to be grounded. So by asking
to be grounded, it proved you not to be crazy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Virtual Universities are on the rise and are a legitimate threat to replace the traditional University. The
most prominent reason for the current explosion in student enrollment in the virtual universities, are
advancements in telecommunications technologies. This paper presents a methodology for
quantitatively testing the relationship between growth in telecommunications technologies, and

As advancements in telecommunications technologies go forward the costs associated with such
technologies have decreased while the benefits increased. New cutting edge technologies are always
priced at a premium when they are introduced into the market. As competitors enter the market the
cost of the technology gradually declines and demand rises following the law of demand.
In this project one of the major questions that must be answered is whether the value of low cost
distance education programs, supported by new and innovative telecommunication technologies, is
greater than the value of traditional educational programs costing much more. The researcher proposes
that the explosive growth in student enrollment in on line programs answer this question affirmatively.
The researcher will use quantitative analysis to support the null hypothesis identified in the document.
Within the context of this quasi experimental study the researcher has carefully investigated the role
advancements in telecommunications technologies have played in the establishment and growth of

Using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ( Ofdm )
Abstract multiple carriers are simultaneously modulated using Orthogonal frequency division
multiplexing (OFDM) which is a transmission technique. Since the OFDM based system has high
spectral efficiency and is robust against intersymbol interference and frequency selective fading
channels. The major problem of this system is high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of transmitted
signal which causes distortion of signal.
At the Receiver, to reduce PAPR in removing weight with no distortion PAPR reducing scheme which
is based on a weighted OFDM signal is proposed. In this scheme, on each discrete OFDM signal
through a certain kind of a signal which is band limited a weight is imposed. before a high power
amplifier (HPA), an OFDM signal which is formed with the weighted discrete data is then considered,
at the receiver side the original signal can be collected completely.
Meanwhile, to transmit the weighted OFDM signal the required time duration is same as the original
OFDM signal s time duration. Computer simulations will evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme
which is proposed now. From the numerical results it is observed that , the weighted OFDM signal has
bit error rate (BER) performance that is improved when compared with the C F method and has PAPR
smaller than the clipping and filtering (C F) method. Here, the proposed method is simpler than the
clipping and Filtering method. Keywords: Bit error rate, Convolution, Orthogonal Frequency Division

take place. According to many reports show that over the next 50 years China and then India s
economies will overtake US. Large and growing market opportunities in China and India are widely
seen and understood as evidenced by the large flows of foreign direct investment to China, both for
the domestic market, but also to use China as a low cost platform for exports to the rest of the World.

Freedom, And Freedom In The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption is a high quality film with many themes, that are going to be explored.
There are themes in any form of entertainment. But, the Shawshank Redemption is much different, in
that is so packed full of them, that there is no good place to start looking for them. For that matter,
there also is no right answer in which themes are the most important. Therefore, the Shawshank
Redemption s most important themes are freedom and confinement, transformation, and hope.
Freedom and confinement is the third most important theme in the movie, the Shawshank
Redemption. There are many aspects of the inmates talking about what freedom is like, and how they
are confined to Shawshank prison for a long time. In Shawshank they quite literally cannot do
anything they want, they have to ask for everything. This can be no better seen than when Captain
Byron Hadley said, You eat when we say you eat! You s*** when we say you s***! You p*** when
we say you p***! Not only is this line of thought present in a fictional prison, but also in real life.
There are TV shows out there that follow the cops of real life prisons, and real life prisoners do not
have much more freedom. Then again, all things considered, prisoners have some freedoms, mainly in
what they do during their yard times. The people who have it the worst, the one s who have it like the
quote, are the people who live under complete dictatorships. They cannot do anything, and I mean
anything without the consent of

The Spanish Inquisition Essay
The Spanish Inquisition
The word inquisition means to examine. Inquisitors would examine suspected Heretics, people whose
ideas do not match those of the Roman Catholic Church, and punish them accordingly. This included
torture and burning. The great inquisition movement that took place in Spain, or Hispania as it was
called before Spain united. It was called The Spanish Inquisition. It took place for approximately five
hundred years, from the late 15th century to mid 19th century. Many ironic elements were involved in
the history of the Inquisition. The Spanish Inquisition lasted longer than any other preceding it, and
was the most cruel, bloodthirsty, and festive of all. The objective of the inquisition, in its early state,

This was the start of the first inquisition. After that, it was a common practice in much of Europe to
take Heretics before a trial, then inflict torture on them forcing them to convert. Those that did not
convert were sent to a public burning or hanging. In 1252 AD, Pope Innocent IV agreed to use
inquisitors to torture sinners who would not repent their sins and confess. By the fifteen hundreds, the
Inquisition became corrupt, powerful, and greedy.
In the late 15th century, Spain gained its freedom from the Moors. They were Islamic North African
people that were and controlled much of Spain. The wealthy, educated Jewish population financially
assisted the monarchy to regain Spain from the Moors. Large prosperous Jewish communities existed
in Spain. They were respected, unlike other areas of Europe where the Jews were persecuted and
victims of organized massacres. In Spain, they remained the financial and scientific leaders in the 15th
century. Many of Jews married into Catholic families, consequently, many of Spain s Christian leaders
were of Jewish descent. As Spain became a unified country, many Hispanics forgot the services from
which the Jewish had provided them. The economy plummeted, and to many, the Jews became a
scapegoat. They became targets for bigotry. Stories were created to lessen the Jews image. These
stories included Jews murdering innocent Christian children. Such legends fueled the expulsion of the

Feminization Of Poverty And Gender Roles Essay
Assignment #4 Feminization of Poverty It is the term given to the trend where women represent a
disproportionate percentage of the world poor. Here are many factors that contribute to this trend. The
factors that got my attention was being a single mother or just being a female. Often now days society
claims to give woman the same right as man. But in real life woman do not get the same right as a
man. A woman can get to the same position a man is but the struggle and the effort would be bigger.
According to the theory of social roles, gender stereotypes arise as a consequence of the existence of
gender roles social expectations, prescribing a person a certain behavior depending on his gender. In
other words, watching how representatives of different genders deal with different things, people
conclude that they are fundamentally different from each other. At the same time, gender stereotypes
are the mechanism for maintaining gender roles: beliefs about the unique qualities and distinctive
features of a particular gender are used to justify the need to behave in accordance with the
appropriate gender role. The United Nations considers this problem global and encourages States to
modify existing gender model, preserving a system of unequal values and double standards. In terms
of gender mainstreaming, gender based discrimination and gender inequality are the major problems
in the labor market, which leave their mark on the development of individual regions and the country

Analysis Of The Triad Of Impairments
On researching the historical, theoretical and clinical perspectives regarding ASD, I found the
information concerning the Triad of Impairments especially interesting as it explains the main
difficulties I encounter within my profession, being that of problems in social communication,
interaction and imagination. I had previously considered these secondary issues resulting from ASD
and not the primary aspects. On realising this, it has helped me revise my practice into dealing with
these principal characteristics instead of treating them as a derivative cause. The revised notion of the
Triad of Impairments by Pellicano (2007) was particularly motivating, including the Theory of Mind,

that he was $500,000 in debt after just three months. He eventually had to file for bankruptcy and

was normal. However, after he quit his job at a bakery, he started to drink in excess, and eventually his
wife left him. He went to rehab and met a man who duped him out of his money. He eventually died

Dependence on Men There can be no doubt... of our dependence upon forces beyond our control.
Primitive man was so impotent in the face of these forces that [gravitate], especially in and
unfavorable natural environment, fear became a dominant attitude, and, as the old saying goes, fear
created gods . (John Dewey) Life often works like this. One person is dependant on the another. Ernest
Hemingway wrote two very intriguing stories, Cat in the Rain, and The Short Happy Life of Francis

men in the story. Hemingway portrays women as dependant on the men in his short stories. The

men in theseir stories to show women s dependence on men.
In Hemingway s stories women These women have affairs with other men because their husband will
not give them what they want. In The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, Francis realizes that
Margot is cheating and she relies on another manother men, not just him because he realized that his

to his and Margot s affairs and keeps reminding her of them to make her feel guilty. Margot refuses to
let her husband find out, even though he figures it out in the middle of the story, for she relies on him

Charles Bulfinch was well known for his architectural designs of government buildings in the United

of his own taste and the inspiration from various countries, he built classic architectures in America.
He was the one who brought Adam style architecture into the United States after meeting Robert

The Effectiveness Of The Supervision Styles
Throughout this paper, with the aid of Gibbs Model of reflection, refer to appendix one (shaaban,
2014), I will reflect on the efficacy of the supervision styles I experienced throughout my degree at my
clinical site. These styles are direct supervision and in direct supervision. I will evaluate the strengths
and weaknesses of each style and how it impacted my learning. I will take into consideration the effect
it had on my own learning and how I can use this lesson to ensure I have a positive impact on students
I supervise in the future as a new graduate MRT. Description During the first half of the degree,
students must have direct supervision from a qualified radiographer. Direct supervision is where the
supervisor oversees activities as they occur and provides constant direction, feedback, and
assistance(wiseGEEK, 2014). This is necessary in the clinical setting for junior students so the
supervisor can step in and help stabilize the situation if it gets out of control, which is very important
for health and safety reasons (wiseGEEK, 2014). Feelings The main learning point in the first year in
the clinical setting were common examinations such as chest x rays and becoming confident
communicating with patients (unitec.ac.nz, 2014). Initially I felt intimidated and anxious in this
environment because I had someone that I had just met, watching and listening to everything I said
and did. This is fairly common and is referred to as supervision induced anxiety

Table 1 Organizes All Observational And Statistical Data
Table 1 organizes all observational and statistical data throughout the experimentation. Mass and
volume amounts from various reagents were based upon these values and therefore are insignificant in
a table. Each beginning, intermediate, and final product demonstrated shows the initial mass recorded
before the next reactionary process began. At the end of each experimentation set, a dollop of sample
was utilized to examine IR peaks and melting point range. The IR peaks displayed are the peaks
present in the experimental samples that support the pure identity of the product. General observations
during and after procedures were noted and are displayed above.

DISCUSSION
The first place to start on overall success of the experimentation would be the IR and melting point
values. If the IR and melting point reveal to match exactly with literature values, the whole of
experimentation can be deemed successful. Unfortunately, the reality is not as simple, for even a slight
impure peak or skewness in melting point shows flaw in the sample product. Benzaldehyde was the
first chemical in question. For this lab example, pure benzaldehyde was provided. For exemplary
purposes, the IR of benzaldehyde was taken to track the peak alterations that could occur in later steps.
The melting point provides further evidence of the purity of the benzaldehyde, but purity was assumed
and therefore melting point was not taken. Benzaldehyde is a simple aromatic compound with a
aldehyde group; therefore, expected peaks are the aromatic ring constituents, C=O bond representative
of aldehydes, and C H bonds representative of aldehydes. According to the expected literature values
in place for this functional groups, benzaldehyde was sufficiently pure, containing all the correct
values. With the correct IR spectrograph available, all following IR samplings follow stepwise in
junction with the first. Further skewness can thus be considered flaw in procedure and not
benzaldehyde. Benzoin condensed from a catalyzed reaction with Vitamin B and benzaldehyde, mixed
with various basic and acidic

The Benefits Of Liberal Arts Education
A liberal arts education is an essential necessity to one s self development, however, the high demands
to integrate technology has a threat to the future of the liberal arts institution. A liberal arts education
will increase the intellect, imagination, and critical thinking skills of each student. The world is
progressing rapidly and the demand for innovative educated people is at an all time high. There is a
heightened demand for individuals with a liberal arts education; however, the future demands are not
as intense for individuals who has majored in a specific academic subject. Thus, they will become
increasingly valuable in the job market after graduating from college. Studying a specific skill set in
modern day society does not equate to a lifetime of success; neither will it lead to more desirable
employment opportunities. Therefore, the individual who decides to major in a liberal arts education
can expect to live a life of completeness, joy, contentment, success, and happiness. A liberal arts
education is crucial in the modern day, there is a high demand globally for every person who has a
liberal arts education. The institution of liberal arts has been experiencing severe challenges compared
to its ancient antecedents the Greek and Romans era.

Life Of Pi Diction Essay
The passage chosen is an extract from pages 310 311 in Life of Pi by Yann Martel, taken place shortly
after Pi arrives on the island. The purpose of the passage is crucial in both the reader s and Pi s
frightening realization of the carnivorous nature of the island, as Pi finds a set of human teeth hidden
in accumulation of leaves. As the reader unravels the passage and subsequently realizes its horrors,
one finds that the Martel successfully uses structure with the transitioning to very short paragraphs.
Language, or rather the use of repetition, places great emphasis into Pi s unravelings, and imagery,
serving as the context for the critical moments, help convey the importance of this watershed moment.
Overall, the use of these devices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a very small portion of the picture being described. Nothing about the surroundings, what Pi
is feeling, or anything else offering the reader imagery of other sorts. Instead, the beginning of the
passage is very focused on the fruit and descriptions of Pi unravelling the fruit. This detailed narration
is very evident in excerpts in the 3 paragraph Martel uses to show the reader that Pi is peeling the fruit,
After a few layers I came to leaves that had lost their stems and were flatly glued to the ball. I used my
fingernails to catch their edges and pull them off. Sheath after sheath of leaf lifted, like the skins off an
onion. I could simply have ripped the fruit apart I still call it that for lack of a better word but I chose
to satisfy my curiosity in a measured way. (310) This imagery is effective in forcing the reader to
focus, and put all their attention onto the step by step progression, successfully setting the stage for the
reader to come across what would be the climax of the scene. Ultimately, in the creation of this
important scene that changes the course of the novel, Yann Martel uses literary techniques to bring out
the its horrors, through his manipulation of the speed, by painting a vivid image in one s mind as it
happens through very descriptive text, and repetition to really emphasize the

In Book 1 of The Aeneid , Aeneas endures a storm that was created by Juno, causing him and his
comrades to become stranded, as he was traveling from Troy to Italy. As of now, the object of love for
Aeneas is his country and for its growth and success. Aeneas lands on the shores of Carthage and this
is where his focus of love is shaken and tested. While searching in the woods, Aeneas meets a young
girl, who is disguised and actually his mother Venus. She tells Aeneas the background story of the
ruler of Carthage and how everything came to be. She also reassures Aeneas that his missing ships,
along with his other comrades, are safe and to continue the path into the city. Once Aeneas enters the
city and observes the progress of the developing city, he is ecstatic. This encounter shows how his
love for country is very focused. Instead of focusing on the individuals that may have been roaming
around the city as an object of love, he views the whole city, which was still in progress, as an object
of love. Aeneas goes and explores the queen s temple to come across scenes etched of his comrades
during the Trojan War. Aeneas speaks to Achates, who was one of his companions that survived the
storm, about these scenes along the walls and while feeding his spirit on empty, lifeless pictures, /

  • 2. Advantages Of Smart Watch Smart watch vs. luxury watch, the battle for premier time A smartwatch is an automated wristwatch which can run mobile applications, and allows one to access several functions such as a calculator, compass, applications to book a cab and order groceries. This can also be used to make or answer phone calls and to send text messages. There is a possibility that the luxury watch industry may lose its customers to the smart watch industry. The luxury watches have had a high brand value and have been a symbol of prestige, riches, status and classiness. The introduction of smart watch by tech savvy companies such as Samsung, Motorola, Apple and Google has brought increased competition in the watch industry. In the fourth quarter of 2015, global ... • 3. Post Operative Education For A Coronary Artery Bypass... Post Operative Education to a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient Aleks J. Perrin Remington College School of Nursing Post Operative Education to a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient One of the scariest medical diagnoses a patient can receive from a physician is, their heart is not functioning properly. A malfunctioning heart will eventually lead to death if correction of the issue is not attempted. The heart supplies the entire body with oxygenated blood but also needs its own supply of oxygen rich blood. This is why coronary arteries are vital to the hearts ability to pump. A final option to correcting malfunctioning coronary arteries is a surgical procedure, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Every year approximately 450,000 patients have CABG surgery in the United States (Mullen Fortino O Brien, 2008). Based on continuing healthcare trends, more and more people each year are having coronary artery issues, causing the need for CABG surgery to rise. Also patient demographics are changing, they are older, sicker, have more extensive coronary artery blockage / damage, and likely have poorer functioning ventricles of the heart (Sidebotham, McKee, Gillham Levy, 2007). The nursing profession has a critical role in caring for the patients but also teaching and educating them before and after any procedure. Education and teaching has been implemented into evidence based practice for years to facilitate better patient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Identity Vs. Role Diffusion Crisis Jordan is interviewing for a job at a fast food restaurant. During the interview, it would be in Jordan s best interest to display the characteristics of an extroverted person. Eysenck described someone that is of high degree in the extroversion scale as someone that is outgoing and sociable (436). The interviewer would like someone that is outgoing instead of shy because customers appreciate someone that is approachable. He would also look for someone that is sociable because customers like someone that can carry out a conversation. Displaying these traits during the interview would make a lasting impression on the interviewer. Showing the interviewer that he had a positive transition into adulthood will make a positive impression and may lead to him getting the job. The Identity vs. Role diffusion crisis is the change in personality between the adolescent years to early adulthood. If Jordan is able to show that he had obtained a positive result to the identity crisis. By him displacing that he successfully overcame his adolescent years, he would be more likely to get the job because of his maturity. If Jordan shows his interviewer that he has a high internal locus of control, he would make a lasting impression. • 5. Chemical and Biological Uses of Weapons of Mass Destruction Chemical and Biological Uses of WMD The threat by terrorist groups in using Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) has increased significantly in the recent years. Preventing the creation and the utilization of these deadly weapons as well as their delivery systems and reducing those already in existence, has become of extreme importance to the government. Certain weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical and biological, are easier to acquire but much harder to detect. For that reason, they should be the highest priority. Predicting when and how an attack will occur, involving chemical or biological weapons, is not 100 percent possible; however, individuals should not ignore the possibility of such an attack happening here on American soil. In the past, there have been attacks involving Sarin gas, such as the Tokyo Subway attack, and just recently, the Sarin nerve agent use in Syria. Terrorist have the capability to use chemical WMD and have shown that they are willing to use this method in warfare. In addition, military biological WMD programs discovered in Iraq and Russia show that there is a definite biological threat as well. Preparing America to face this threat head on is a daunting task, but lacking preparedness could have devastating consequences beyond comprehension. Agencies, such as public health organizations, must be prepared to prevent illness and injuries resulting from biological and chemical terrorism, especially with a concealed attack by a terrorist. ... • 6. Gender Bias In The Early Greek Culture Gender Bias in the Early Greek Culture It s important to know that discrimination is the unjust treatment of a person or thing based on age, race, and or sexual orientation (CITE THIS). Discrimination is seen throughout the world s history in forms of slavery, social inequality, racial bias, and gender inequality. Unfortunately, women in history also faced discrimination by not having much of the same rights as men did. More specifically, when looking at the history of the Greeks, one can clearly point out gender inequality in everyday life, law, and even literature. Athenian women were the subjects of bias in day to day life. A women s property was controlled by her father until she entered an arranged marriage, usually at the age of fourteen. Her husband would then supervise her and that was because it was believed that a woman could not act independently ( PAGE NUMBER). If they left the house or attended court they were accompanied by a male. They didn t receive formal educations and couldn t act in plays. Women essentially couldn t do anything. Women were seen as inferior to men and therefore were treated like such. This idea bled into the belief that women should do things at home while the man goes off to work. Men were taking advantage of women by stripping them from any potential power by controlling every aspect of their lives. Although it may seem odd that women did not fight for their rights, many of them feared the consequences for not obeying her husband, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Going To The War And Dulce Et Decorum Est The two poems To lucasta going to the War by Richard Lovelace, and Dulce et Docorum Est by Wilfred Owen both convey a very similar view of war but a different experience of battle. They both contrast each other in that, Lovelace s poem presents the prewar view of war because Lovelace never really saw war. He died before he actually made it to the ront line. War had been presented as glorious and honorable for centuries and Lovelace poem reflects this with him being a 17th century aristocrats with ties to the english royalty. In that environment a man s word was indeed his bond. If he had promised to support his king, and then failed to do so he would have been publicly disgraced and probably had to forfeit all his holdings and wealth and gone into exile. And no ... This poem describes a battle and a death in the battle because Owen actually died in action or as a result of it which is passionate and sorrowful. Bent double, like old beggars under sack, Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through shadge. This presents a different view of war. Look at the strong words that are used to depict the action; haunting, blood shod, drunk with fatique, this is what war is really like, the poem implies. So, don t give me that lie that it is glorious to die for one s country (Which is the translation of the title Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori). My friend, you would not tell with such zest, To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old lie; Dulce et Decorum est Pro partria mori. While war has been presented as glorious and honorable in literature for centuries and Lovelace s poem reflects this, Owen s poem takes a different turn towards the modern in literature and contrast Lovelace s with the tone of an actual battle, post war experience and its ... A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same interests, beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture, to things like bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies. There were some more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me. Strangely enough, vampires are already in people s imagination. Now they have a cultural group just for their imagination. I m not trying to seem disrespectful to the vampire subculture, but it s honestly strange that they think they are real vampires. This lifestyle formed in the western culture, stemming from horror films, and overall styles of Victorian England. The vampire subculture is just like any other system of beliefs. They commit themselves to this lifestyle and participate in rituals. Continually, vampires dress themselves in gothic clothing with dark eye shadow, and black nail polish. In this vampire lifestyle, you will find blood donors who are people who allow the vampires to drink their actual blood. The donors are hard to find, but they are subservient to the vampires. The Pacific Northwest Region Is A Good First Step While we have been focusing on the whole Pacific Northwest region as a whole this class, we have finally delved into a subregion that is close to all of us: the Inland Empire. This area in the Pacific Northwest came into being during the late 19th Century and encompassed much of Eastern Washington, the Idaho Panhandle and parts of Eastern Oregon. The people of this region were very proud of their land and some even held more pride for the Inland Empire than their own state. This fierce loyalty to one s home was just as much a product of economic growth as many of the other changes being see all around the Pacific Northwest in general. The Inland Empire was, and is, an important subregion that was born of economic development and competition with the cities on the coast. To set the stage for the Inland Empire, a broader look at the changes occurring throughout the Pacific Northwest region is a good first step. Around the late 19th century, the region was experiencing economic boom. Industrialization of many of the region s commodities like salmon processing flooded the region with money and immigrants. These peoples came from the Far East to work in the factories and lumber mills that were making Seattle and other cities such as Portland and Tacoma booming hubs of trade. In the early 20th century, nearly all of Africa was colonized by European powers. Colonialism, and Africans ill feelings toward being colonized, inspired unity, desire for social change, and an urge for independence. Revolutions were imminent in Africa due to the strict policies of segregation, social structure, and feelings of superiority that the Europeans brought. These feelings were ingrained in many people both consciously and sub consciously. Many Africans, after independence, fell back into this old routine and when the white populations left, these feelings of superiority and the old social structure continued to manifest itself Africa, only in a new form. This was, and continues to be Africa s biggest problem today. The goal of revolution, and independence in Africa was to purge the negative western influences and attitudes that Europeans had put in place. However, even after independence, the same European powers, and their conglomerates continued to influence the governments and people. Many people of Africa fell back into their old ways and had similar thought processes under colonial rule. These fallbacks included superiority of men over women, social status, and the other obligations that one has to society. The Weary Blues Lindsey Blasé Brown The Music of Sadness The Weary Blues, by Langston Hughes, tells a story of an unnamed narrator recalling an evening of listening to a man sing the blues one night in Harlem. Hughes uses a somber tone, depressed voice, syntax and imagery as language styles to convey a great deal of suffering that was occurring in Harlem during the mid 1900 s. In The Weary Blues Hughes uses imagery to communicate to the reader what the narrator is experiencing while listening to blues. The reader can feel the slow and steady beat of the music: He did a lazy sway.../ He did a lazy sway... (4 5). The flow of the two lines mimics the beat of the music. Due to the lack of emotion from the narrator, the reader must look towards the second character, the musician, for emotion that is behind the depressed voice. While the musician s voice is only seen in the song lyrics, his voice plays the largest role communicating emotions to the reader: I ain t happy no mo /And I wish that I had died (29 30). From this lyric the reader understands that the musician is sad and appears to be depressed. At the end of the poem the narrator describes what he believes the musician does: And far into the night he crooned that tune. The stars went out and so did the moon. The singer stopped playing and went to bed While the weary blues echoed through his head. The shift in indigenous education was a destructive one; Western education completely overtook the indigenous education that had thrived for generations. When the settlers from Europe and Spain first came to the Americas, indigenous men and women articulated their petitions for more educational spaces (Díaz 60). Using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ( Ofdm ) Abstract multiple carriers are simultaneously modulated using Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) which is a transmission technique. Since the OFDM based system has high spectral efficiency and is robust against intersymbol interference and frequency selective fading channels. The major problem of this system is high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of transmitted signal which causes distortion of signal. At the Receiver, to reduce PAPR in removing weight with no distortion PAPR reducing scheme which is based on a weighted OFDM signal is proposed. In this scheme, on each discrete OFDM signal through a certain kind of a signal which is band limited a weight is imposed. before a high power amplifier (HPA), an OFDM signal which is formed with the weighted discrete data is then considered, at the receiver side the original signal can be collected completely. Meanwhile, to transmit the weighted OFDM signal the required time duration is same as the original OFDM signal s time duration. Computer simulations will evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme which is proposed now. From the numerical results it is observed that , the weighted OFDM signal has bit error rate (BER) performance that is improved when compared with the C F method and has PAPR smaller than the clipping and filtering (C F) method. Here, the proposed method is simpler than the clipping and Filtering method. Keywords: Bit error rate, Convolution, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. I had previously considered these secondary issues resulting from ASD and not the primary aspects. On realising this, it has helped me revise my practice into dealing with these principal characteristics instead of treating them as a derivative cause. The revised notion of the Triad of Impairments by Pellicano (2007) was particularly motivating, including the Theory of Mind, Executive Functioning and Central Coherence. This new revised ... • 36. The Effectiveness Of The Supervision Styles Throughout this paper, with the aid of Gibbs Model of reflection, refer to appendix one (shaaban, 2014), I will reflect on the efficacy of the supervision styles I experienced throughout my degree at my clinical site. These styles are direct supervision and in direct supervision. I will evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each style and how it impacted my learning. I will take into consideration the effect it had on my own learning and how I can use this lesson to ensure I have a positive impact on students I supervise in the future as a new graduate MRT. Description During the first half of the degree, students must have direct supervision from a qualified radiographer. Direct supervision is where the supervisor oversees activities as they occur and provides constant direction, feedback, and assistance(wiseGEEK, 2014). This is necessary in the clinical setting for junior students so the supervisor can step in and help stabilize the situation if it gets out of control, which is very important for health and safety reasons (wiseGEEK, 2014). Feelings The main learning point in the first year in the clinical setting were common examinations such as chest x rays and becoming confident communicating with patients (unitec.ac.nz, 2014). Initially I felt intimidated and anxious in this environment because I had someone that I had just met, watching and listening to everything I said and did. This is fairly common and is referred to as supervision induced anxiety ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mass and volume amounts from various reagents were based upon these values and therefore are insignificant in a table. Each beginning, intermediate, and final product demonstrated shows the initial mass recorded before the next reactionary process began. At the end of each experimentation set, a dollop of sample was utilized to examine IR peaks and melting point range. The IR peaks displayed are the peaks present in the experimental samples that support the pure identity of the product. General observations during and after procedures were noted and are displayed above. Figure 4. IR spectra of benzaldehyde Figure 5. IR spectra of benzoin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DISCUSSION The first place to start on overall success of the experimentation would be the IR and melting point values. If the IR and melting point reveal to match exactly with literature values, the whole of experimentation can be deemed successful. Unfortunately, the reality is not as simple, for even a slight impure peak or skewness in melting point shows flaw in the sample product. Benzaldehyde was the first chemical in question. For this lab example, pure benzaldehyde was provided. For exemplary purposes, the IR of benzaldehyde was taken to track the peak alterations that could occur in later steps. The melting point provides further evidence of the purity of the benzaldehyde, but purity was assumed and therefore melting point was not taken. Benzaldehyde is a simple aromatic compound with a aldehyde group; therefore, expected peaks are the aromatic ring constituents, C=O bond representative of aldehydes, and C H bonds representative of aldehydes. According to the expected literature values in place for this functional groups, benzaldehyde was sufficiently pure, containing all the correct values. With the correct IR spectrograph available, all following IR samplings follow stepwise in junction with the first. Further skewness can thus be considered flaw in procedure and not benzaldehyde. Benzoin condensed from a catalyzed reaction with Vitamin B and benzaldehyde, mixed with various basic and acidic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Life Of Pi Diction Essay The passage chosen is an extract from pages 310 311 in Life of Pi by Yann Martel, taken place shortly after Pi arrives on the island. The purpose of the passage is crucial in both the reader s and Pi s frightening realization of the carnivorous nature of the island, as Pi finds a set of human teeth hidden in accumulation of leaves. As the reader unravels the passage and subsequently realizes its horrors, one finds that the Martel successfully uses structure with the transitioning to very short paragraphs. Language, or rather the use of repetition, places great emphasis into Pi s unravelings, and imagery, serving as the context for the critical moments, help convey the importance of this watershed moment. Overall, the use of these devices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a very small portion of the picture being described. Nothing about the surroundings, what Pi is feeling, or anything else offering the reader imagery of other sorts. Instead, the beginning of the passage is very focused on the fruit and descriptions of Pi unravelling the fruit. This detailed narration is very evident in excerpts in the 3 paragraph Martel uses to show the reader that Pi is peeling the fruit, After a few layers I came to leaves that had lost their stems and were flatly glued to the ball. I used my fingernails to catch their edges and pull them off. Sheath after sheath of leaf lifted, like the skins off an onion. I could simply have ripped the fruit apart I still call it that for lack of a better word but I chose to satisfy my curiosity in a measured way. (310) This imagery is effective in forcing the reader to focus, and put all their attention onto the step by step progression, successfully setting the stage for the reader to come across what would be the climax of the scene. Ultimately, in the creation of this important scene that changes the course of the novel, Yann Martel uses literary techniques to bring out the its horrors, through his manipulation of the speed, by painting a vivid image in one s mind as it happens through very descriptive text, and repetition to really emphasize the ... As of now, the object of love for Aeneas is his country and for its growth and success. Aeneas lands on the shores of Carthage and this is where his focus of love is shaken and tested. While searching in the woods, Aeneas meets a young girl, who is disguised and actually his mother Venus. She tells Aeneas the background story of the ruler of Carthage and how everything came to be. She also reassures Aeneas that his missing ships, along with his other comrades, are safe and to continue the path into the city. Once Aeneas enters the city and observes the progress of the developing city, he is ecstatic. This encounter shows how his love for country is very focused. Instead of focusing on the individuals that may have been roaming around the city as an object of love, he views the whole city, which was still in progress, as an object of love. Aeneas goes and explores the queen s temple to come across scenes etched of his comrades during the Trojan War.
