Essay on Gran Torino and The Right Stuff
Getting old and aging are things that have become difficult points for many and despite the
negative representation of the elderly in film, they do serve a purpose. On the big screen we
continue to see many underpinnings of ageist assumptions when in fact many of the characters are
strong figures that Still have the Right Stuff . Clint Eastwood dispels that myth and several
significant scenes epitomize this concept in the movie hit Gran Torino (2008). Gran Torino (2008)
exposes and defends against ageist assumptions although many believe the underlying theme is that
of racism and bigotry. We see an older man, Walt Kowalski (Eastwood) who has lost his wife and
grows throughout the movie because of his relationship with a boy.When... Show more content on

The physical signs of aging include a decline in flexibility and endurance in the first incident
described below. In the second meeting with Sue, his heroism and powerful strength and
persona is appreciated. He is no longer seen as a feeble old man. As an initiation, Thao is asked
to steal Walt s prized 1972 Ford Gran Torino. He botches the attempt, as Walt, rather stumblingly,
chases his out of his garage with his M1 rifle. Later, Thao s sister, Sue (Ahney Her) is set upon
by some stereotypically predatory young black man and Walt, brandishing a pistol, rescues her.
Another scene in which the character of Walt deals with the prejudices of ageist yet remains in
control is when his son and daughter in law gift him a telephone for old people with giant
buttons and numbers on it for his birthday. They also present him with a gopher to help him pick
up things on the ground more easily and retirement brochures. These gifts would make things
easier because he worked hard his whole life. This was the last straw and he throws them out.
This reaction shows Walt had the right stuff. He was not feeble or afraid to talk back to his
children. As people age, they often accept the emotional abuse but Walt would not. Another
concept where we see Walt fighting the concept of ageist is his role to man Thao up a bit. The
elderly are often seen as no longer being valuable members of society yet they

Capital Punishment and Life Without Parole Essay
The first death sentence that has been historically recorded was as far back as 16th century BC.
This occurred in Egypt, the wrongdoer was accused of magic and he was then ordered to take his
own life. In present day the death penalty has changed drastically. The death penalty has
undergone many changes since then. In medieval times the methods used to kill people were
inhumane and often times cruel. In modern times the methods to kill people are much more
humane. The death penalty has been used less and less often and even outlawed in some states.
The death penalty should be used more often and for more crimes. If the death penalty was used
more often there would be a deterrence for future crimes, it is more cost effective, and it would...

The more people in a prison the more money it takes for that prison to run. In 1995 it cost $49
billion dollars to run all of the prisons in all 50 states. Since 1995 there has been an increase in
the amount of people incarcerated in prison. With this increase in prison population there is also an
increase in the amount of money it costs to run prisons. The cost difference in an entire trial and
prosecution of a death sentence and the entire trials and prosecution and life in prison of a LWOP
sentence is immense. Dudley Sharp says in Death Penalty and Sentencing Information Justice for
all estimates that LWOP cases will cost $1.2 million $3.6 million more than equivalent death
penalty cases (Sharp).
Additionally, we would live in an all around safer country. The people of the country would feel
safer as well as be safer. People would be safer in every way possible. The lack of violent crimes
would create a physical safety. Without murderers, rapists, assailants, and other such brutal people
there would be less need for self defense, such as guns or other weapons. With less white collar
crime people would be safer when it comes things such as having identities stolen or companies
being embezzled. This would give people better financial security and less chance of having their
life ruined by someone stealing their identity. It would give the economy a great boost as well.
On the other hand, some people disagree with the thought

Mandatory Continuing Professional Development ( Cpd ) For...
Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for professional engineers in Ontario has
been an issue subject to controversy over the years. The controversy surrounding the issue is due in
part to the complications of introducing such a program, and the fact that Professional Engineers
Ontario (PEO) is the only professional engineeringassociation in Canada that does not have a CPD
program [1]. The debate regarding CPD for professional engineers in Ontario is pertinent
because the resolution has been ongoing since September of 2013, and is up for approval in the
upcoming February 2016 PEO council meeting [2]. Therefore, it is important that the CPD debate
is resolved and a consensus is reached. Mandatory CPD is a concept to which professionals are
required and encouraged to maintain and enhance their knowledge throughout their careers to
provide a standard of competence to those practicing [3]. The goal of CPD is to be proactive in
regulating the profession...rather than (reactively)...punishing license holders for practice failures
[1]. Introducing a CPD program will ensure public safety, contribute to a reduction in risk for the
public and individual practitioner , and push the profession to higher levels of skills and
knowledge [1]. As a result, the professional engineers of Ontario should engage in mandatory CPD
to ensure the continued competency of those practicing and the safety of the public. The proactive
nature of a CPD program may prevent failures

Difference of Marketing Product and Service
The Marketing of product and service are different
A product is normally a thing that sold to people and mostly is tangible. Basically, the marketing
of product is particularly focused on 4P s in marketing mix namely product, price, place, and
promotion (Ehmke Fulton Lusk, n.d.). The marketer needs to analyze the major demand of
customers in a specific market in order to find out a product that can respond the market demand.
Firstly, it is necessary for marketers to focus on the strength as well as eliminate the vulnerabilities
of marketed products in order to improve products to meet customer s demand as much as possible.
Secondly, the price is an important factor in product marketing because of the price must be set to
match with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think product and services marketing are significantly different because of characteristic of itself.
The first characteristic of services marketing is intangibility; it cannot be seen, touched or felt prior
consumption. On the other hands, product marketing is tangible, the customer is able to touch,
feel, taste or smell the product either before or after purchasing. For example, when customers walk
through a restaurant, they might get the food smell from the restaurant but they cannot know how
well of service if they do not buy the menu.
Secondly, products can be stored in order to sell to the customer in the next time whereas services
marketing mostly are unable to be inventoried, they are perishable. Hence, the value of service
always exists at the point when it is required. Therefore, it seems to be very difficult to match
supply with demand in service marketing.
Thirdly, the other difference of product and services marketing is the level of relationship between
the client and provider. Undoubtedly, there is much more personal contact required in services
marketing than product marketing. In case of product marketing, customers and sellers may face
each other just once time when they are dealing products and they might have no chance to see
each other again. However, in services marketing, consumers and service providers may have to see
each other frequently throughout until the contract is ended or until the last thing that consumers

Leonardo Pisano Research Paper
Leonardo Pisano commonly referred to as Fibonacci revolutionized education and economics by
reviving ancient mathematics and creating his own theories (Stetson, University). Through some of
his well known books are mathematical advancements and broken barriers in the world of
mathematics. His desire to learn more and ability to travel led him to create important mathematical
advancements that changed history forever (Henderson, H).
Leonardo Pisano was born in Italy somewhere between 1170 1175 and studied in North Africa. His
father was a merchant who traveled around the world. During these trips he would often be
accompanied by Fibonacci who even at a young age was amazed by the different mathematical
institutions. During these trips he observed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fibonacci had a far reaching effect on the evolution of the study and application of mathematics in
Western civilization (O Neill, Christopher). If Fibonacci had not incorporated these elements in his
book or theorems we would live in a completely different

Verse 8 The Odyssey
The next section is composed of verses seven through ten. This section is summarized by God
commissioning Moses, saving the Israelites from their oppressors in Egypt, and taking them to the
good land. The first important verse in this subsection is verse eight. Verse eight reads so I have
come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land
into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey the home of the Canaanites,
Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites (BibleGateway). This is important because the
idea of covenant promises is now being fulfilled through the Moses. As stated earlier, God had

This section is about how Moses begins to question his role and how God s presence will be
with him throughout the Exodus. Out of this subsection of verses, verse twelve and fourteen
standout. Verse twelve reads and God said, I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you
that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship
God on this mountain. (BibleGateway). This is important because, yet again, we see God
continuing to keep his covenant with Abraham by providing his presence for Moses. In the
verse before this we see Moses began to question God and fight the calling that God had placed
on him. God is also telling Moses that he will not deliver the Israelites by himself, or on his own
accord. He will do it by God s encouragement and strength. This is God telling Moses to have faith
in him. The second half of the verse is pertaining to the idea of coming back to the mount. This
is important because God says that the people will come back to this mount and worship him. A
commentary reads, for Mount Horeb is not situated on the direct road from Egypt to Canaan will
serve as a sign that to you that the deliverance of the children of Israel from the hand of the
Egyptians was decreed by Me, and the implementation of what the decree is beyond all doubt
(Cassuto 12). The fact that God is telling Moses that he will be back is to show Moses that not

Analysis Of Helicopter Parenting By Cline And Fay
Major Policy Brief
Jessica McNay, 214 236 246
Executive Summary:
Helicopter parenting, first introduced by Cline and Fay in their 1990 parenting book series, refers
to overly protective and involved parents, who overly involve themselves in their children s lives
with behaviours including constant communication, intervention into children s affairs, taking
control of decision making, personally investing themselves in their children s goals and the
removal of any obstacles that their children may encounter. Studies have shown that this parenting
style is most prevalent amongst the millennial generation, with approximately 60 70% of college
students reporting that their parents exhibit at least some of the hovering tendencies (Odenweller,
Booth Butterfield Weber, 2014).
This Policy Brief presents current and relevant research findings surrounding Helicopter parenting
or over parenting and the implications that this parenting style may have on both the child and the
parents. The main focus of this brief is the effect that over parenting can have on the experiences
and development of children throughout the lifespan.
Importance of Issue:
Over parenting, also known as helicopter parenting, involves the implementation of inappropriate
levels of parental control. This may include problem solving, monitoring, directiveness, tangible
assistance and overall involvement in their children s lives (Segrin, Woszildo, Givertz Montgomery,
2013). According to a number of

In the current global economy, companies continuously search to improve efficiency, reduce
overhead, and maintain positive financial growth. This search has led companies to look beyond
their traditional market horizons for expansion opportunities. For many companies this includes
establishing a strategic foothold in the international markets. Along with the challenges presented
by ordinary program expansion are the security concerns posed by access to foreign markets and
network as well as cultural and societal indoctrination. The purpose of this study then is to research,

Ancient Egyptian Royalty And The Pantheon Of Gods Essay
When asked to describe Ancient Egypt, many will speak of towering pyramids, glittering
sarcophaguses, and fist sized scarab pendants. However, the image of Ancient Egypt that most
have learned has one glaring flaw: it inordinately focuses on the lives of the social elite. The
descriptions given seldom mention the stories of merchants, artisans, or slaves; they are solely
focused on exploring the lives of the Egyptian royalty and the pantheon of gods that they
worshipped. The social disparity in the study of Ancient Egyptis not the fault of professors,
textbooks, or the field of education in general; rather, it is indicative of the deep social divides
which were omnipresent in Egyptian society from its initiation. In Western Civilizations: Volume
One, the authors confirm the rigid socioeconomic class system of this era: The social pyramid of
Old Kingdom Egypt was extremely steep. At its apex stood the Pharaoh and his extended family,
whose prestige and power set them entirely apart from all other Egyptians. This strict social
structure pursued the Egyptian consciousness, even in death. The Book of the Dead, a collection of
spells and incantations to aid a deceased person through the afterlife, contains ample evidence that
social classfollowed Egyptian citizens past their mortal existence. In my brief study of Ancient
Egypt, I have found evidence in The Book of the Dead to support the claims made by Dr. Symes
that Ancient Egyptian society followed a strict social caste

12 Angry Men- Jurors 4 and 8 Essay
Reginald Rose s 12 Angry Men brings 12 jurors together in a room to decide whether a young
foreign boy is guilty of killing his father. The play is interwoven with dynamic characterisation,
striking symbolism and intense moments of drama. Although Rose positions Juror 8 as the hero,
the strongest character is in fact Juror 4, who is an independent thinker, rational and calm even as
tension begins to build. Although Juror 4 initially votes guilty, he is able to admit his fault and
change his vote.
The ability to remain independent proved to be the most important character trait of Juror 4.
Throughout the play, Rose s character is able to think freely and never lets his personal bias or peer
pressure affect his decision making. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juror 4 was able to communicate his ideas and thought like a professional and did so in an
organised fashion. He analysed each piece of evidence with care and used logic and his skills of
deduction to guide his vote. Rose intended for the audience to realise that the not guilty vote was
the right choice and used Juror 4 as a catalyst for the final vote change.
Juror 4 is able to remain calm and composed throughout the most stressful of situations. While
Juror 10 exhibits racial outbursts; They get drunk , That s the way they are! , VIOLENT! ,
These people are dangerous. They re wild. Listen to me. Listen. Juror 4 sat through this entire
scene without saying a word. It is only until Juror 10 s monologue is finished that Juror 4
speaks, calmly asking Juror 10 to Shut [his] filthy mouth. Juror 4 never discredits or implies
anything towards the defendant and is always careful of what he says. After Juror 10 s tirade,
Juror 4 tries to soften the impact created by 10; Slums are potential breeding grounds for
criminals. He never attacks or hypes the situation at hand. He draws around potential possibilities.
Juror 4 initially had his doubts at the start of the case but was the only character that overcame his
predisposition based on the analysis of facts and evidence. Rose s character and only this character
had the intelligence, confidence and persistence to keep his head in the tense moment Juror 10

The Worst of Economic Times in the Great Recession
The Great Recession is possibly the worst economic times since the Great Depression after
World War Two. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were two financial institutions that played a major
role in the uprising of housing prices. Bundling home loans with different ratings together
helped to get a good deal. There was money to be made with investors. When greed took over and
good ratings were given to people for loans that they could never pay them back, there then was
a shift in direction. The housing market started to fall. Houses were too expensive, and people
could not afford it. Foreclosures were happening all over the country, which lowered the worth
of the houses in neighborhoods that were paid up to date where families still lived. The Federal
Government had to step in because the housing bubble busted, and then financial institutions
and banks went bankrupt. Credit scores have a huge impact when it comes to loans, mortgages,
and anything else that requires a credit check. The higher the credit score means the better
chance the loan will get paid back. The lower the credit score the less of a chance that someone
will get a loan because they are more at a risk of not paying it back and defaulting on the loan.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac recommended the FICO score for use in mortgage lending in 1995.
That would have helped people get a mortgage that may not have before. It would also help not let
people with low credit scores to get a mortgage because they would not be

The Border, The Imaginary And Unseen Border Essay
To have a complete understanding of what a border is one must come to the other form of the
border, the imaginary and unseen border. This abstract border separates people from one
another without any real embodiment of the border itself. This particular border does not
necessarily have concrete matter, which separates people like fences, gates, towers, and walls.
Moreover, it does not have to be policed. Ergo, such border exists without any limitation of space
and time. This abstract border does create the same effect as the concrete border, separating and
labeling people, as them and us. Nonetheless, the abstract border affects people beyond labelling
and separation. As the Xuncax siblings in El Norte succeeded in crossing the concrete U.S.
Mexico border, they had to face the abstract border, the language border. Knowing nothing of
English hinders them in coping with their new life in America. Language is the first border they
have to pass in the new land. Because Enrique could not speak English, he is unable to find a job
easily since he could not communicate with other people who might need his service. In the same
boat, Rosa, being unable to comprehend her employer s explanation on how to use the washing
machine, ends up washing all the clothes by hands and let them dry under the sun. In a word, their
unavailability to cross the language border is apparently making an impediment for them to find a
job for living or to execute the employer s request correctly.

Just like a dedicated reporter trying to feed their newspaper with the most scandalous story or
chilling tale, photojournalism takes the profession a step further. With concrete photographic
evidence of the story they are trying to find and cover, their audience will have a dedicated
visual of the story. Jacob Riis is perhaps the most famed photojournalist of his time, taking
pictures of what nobody in America wanted to see: the impoverished lives of those that lived in
the New York ghettos. During the 1880s through 1890s, the state of New York needed to
accomodate for all the people who moved in by building tenements. Riis describes a tenement as .
. . a house occupied by three or more families, living independently . . . and having a common
right in the halls, stairways, yards, etc, (Riis 18). Unlike the dirt poor New York ghetto that Riis
helped reform through exposing his photographs to the middle and higher classed New York
citizens, Ross was under constant surveillance and could not show his photojournalistic pictures
during his time in Lodz. Instead, his tool of photography had helped bring down Nazi Germany after
the war, inciting his vengeance on everyone involved in the Holocaust. Today, modern
photojournalists employ the same strategies as Ross, ending corruption with photographic proof of
their stories, and exposing their pictures for the world to

successful if you always succeed you will never know what it feels like to fail and won t know

rarely given to anyone. Everyone has obstacles to get over and their own set of trials and

Jennifer Keith s Eating Walnuts
Poets often use their writing as a source to convey their messages and to express their feelings on
certain issues. They use different strategies to direct the reader s attention to specific words or
phrases. Sometimes, these strategies are used by several poets making their writing similar to
others. This essay will compare and contrast two poems of different time periods. The poem
Eating Walnuts was written by Jennifer Keith in 2015 and The Man He Killed by Thomas
Hardy was written in 1902. Despite being written by different authors, these poems share a lot of
similarities, but also have some differences. The poem Eating Walnuts contains five stanzas with
four lines each. Keith uses consonance to create a dismal mood. The letter s and the sound sh is
repeated several times to emphasize words like, split , pressure , sacrifice , and shattered which
makes the reader feel a little melancholy (Keith 4; 2; 12; 16). The word you is repeated six times

Two Vulnerable Populations and Two Nursing Theories Essay
From a healthcare perspective we see vulnerability as a person s susceptibility to disease, whether
that disease is from a mental, physical, or sociological standpoint. De Chesnay amp; Anderson
(2012) explain the idea of an entire population being vulnerable as a public health concept that
refers to vulnerability by virtue of status: that is, some groups are at risk at any given point in time
relative to other individuals or groups. The chronically mentally ill and the elderly go under this
definition of vulnerable populations and could be helped by two conceptual models of nursing.
Because those with mental illness usually have increased risked for being unable to identify,

These therapies have the possibility to help chronically mentally ill patients to find ways to
achieve and maintain a harmony with their environment that would promote their physical and
social health. Orem s Self Care Deficit Theory views every individual as practicing self care, a
set of learned behaviors, to sustain life, maintain or restore functioning, and bring about a
condition of well being. (Creasia amp; Friberg 2011) The nurse uses her/his abilities to assist the
patient to overcome current self care deficits and help the patient achieve her/his best level of
self care. As time passes many of the elderly need more assistance with the activities of daily
living. Taking care of themselves physically becomes more difficult, sometimes there is decreased
mental acuity, as well as a loss in social contact. In every one of these areas the nurse assists the
patient to achieve her/his highest level of self care. This includes diet, eating, elimination, activity,
social interaction, education, awareness of obligations, and the promotion of health. Where
possible the nurse will help the patient achieve self care. Since there are no true cures to the aging
process the nurse will be needed more and more

The Competitive Market Threat for Fiat
Situation Analysis Threats (10 marks) describe the threats that you have identified and their
implications for your decision from a review of the competitive analysis and the PEST
environmental analysis.
Internal competition to Fiat come from the big Three , Ford, GM, and Chrysler, whilst external
competition comes from makers such as Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai. Since Fiat will also be
using the Alfa Romeo Giulietta model it will also be faced with competition from other
manufacturers of that model that included Nissan, Mazda, Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, and
Mercedes . The competition will rest on factors such as size of vehicle, fuel economy, seating,
engine, and price with safety being a primary factor for many families.
The European market has its own competitors that include vehicle manufacturers such as Audi A3,
the BMW 1 series, Volkswagen Golf, and Mazda 3 . local competition has upped its offerings with
incentives such as % financing for terms of up to 84 months, extended warranties to 120 000km,
and promotional products such as ipods with purchase. Promotion and marketing has also become
aggressive with ventures such as employee pricing events, and seasonal advertising .The Alfa
Romeo brand that Fiat intends to reintroduce to Canadians in 2013 is an upscale division of Fiat
that last sold cars in the Canadian market in 1995. Its Giulietta Spyder and Sprint models are known
for their sporty handling and racing capabilities. These characteristics, however, meet their

She cautions woman not to fritter away their hard on freedom in fighting for equality in dress or

be an asset to the family. She also finds fault with the society, which observes a double standard
with regard to chastity or morality. While society imposes strong sanctions against even minor
indiscretions on the part of women, it shows considerable leniency towards such aberrations in
men. She also castigates the undue importance given to chastity. The concept of chastity, according

Transport Sector Current Constraints
Inadequate infrastructure to support transport and trade movement along the main transport and
trade corridors.
According to SCRB, 80 per cent of the existing roads in Iraq are in bad condition and require
immediate attention.
The roads serving the East West Corridors, leading to its western borders (Abu Kamal,
Al Tanf and Al Karama) suffered significant damage during the last decade due to war and
maintenance delays. These roads lack capacity and axle load control for the projected increase in
trade as the country reconstructs its economy.
The road north from Um Qasr to Baghdad lacks capacity for the projected traffic through this
corridor and is in need of rehabilitation and maintenance.
From the North side, there are about 3,000 heavy trucks entering Iraq daily from
Turkey through Ibrahim El Khalil border crossing and these trucks currently use the mountainous, 2
lane, windy and dangerous road through Zakho to reach Duhok and the rest of Iraq causing about
0.5 fatalities per km, an unacceptable risk. There is urgent need therefore to direct this heavy
traffic through a safer route to reach Duhok on its way to Erbil and the rest of Iraq. Although
accurate data are not available,

The Blockbuster Model
In order to grasp a substantial and comprehensive understanding of the audiovisual spectacle of
film, one must understand what genre is and the different ways in which genre operates. During our
class discussions we learned that genre acts as a living organism. Thomas Schatz argues that genre
like virtually any story, can be examined in terms of fundamental narrative components: plot,
setting, and character (Schatz 21). Beyond these fundamental narrative components, Schatz states
that genrefilmincorporates a specific cultural context where thematic conflicts are animated,
intensified, and resolved by familiar characteristics (Schatz 21). We can recognize and distinguish
particular genres through the analysis of the evolution of genre.... Show more content on

Given that genres are considered a form of living organisms with a life cycle, we can argue that
they carry the ability to evolve and grow into other previously unknown sub genres. Filmmakers
are able to explore the possibilities within a certain genre and possibly create a subgenre that has
never been explored prior. For instance, comedy is a well known genre in film and audiences have
seen it develop into several other sub genres. An individual film has the ability to apply the
traditional characteristics of a comedy film and combine it with other characteristics, which then
transform it into a sub genre. One example of this is the military comedy sub genre. While many
people may consider the topic of war to be grim or dark, filmmakers have created a sub genre
that incorporates comedic tropes in order to ease the anxieties the audience has towards war. One
could describe the characteristics of a military comedy as a film that incorporates the
characteristics of a traditional comedy while adding widely shared attitudes towards war, such as
being drafted and feeling afraid or out of place. Understanding genre is critical to understanding
how cinema works. Studying the network of genres can help us easily identify and analyze films in
a much greater detail. This ability to identify and analyze speaks to the larger understanding of
cinema itself. Cinema is constantly reaching new milestones. A comprehensive understanding

Ghandi and His Fight Agains Discrimination in South Africa...
Gandhi is considered by many around the world as the father of the Indian independence
movement. Gandhi spent over 20 years in South Africa working to fight discrimination. It was in
South Africa that he developed his concept of Satyagraha, a non violent way of protesting against
discrimination. The first time Gandhi used Satyagraha was in South Africabeginning in 1907 when
he organized opposition to the Black Act. In 1907, the Black Act was passed, requiring all Indians
to keep registration documents on them at all times. Gandhi s first hand experiences in dealing with
discrimination began in South Africa. In Chapter VII Some Experiences, Gandhi recalls on his first

Yes, you may. I refuse to get out voluntarily.
This incident began his life long battle against all discriminations. Although he debated returning to
India, his duty came first. It would be cowardice to run back to India without fulfilling my
obligation. The hardship to which I was subjected was superficial only a symptom of the deep
disease of colour prejudice. I should try, if possible, to root out the disease and suffer hardships
in the process. Redress for wrongs I should seek only to the extent that would be necessary for
the removal of the colour prejudice. Gandhi also faced the same discrimination on a coach from
Johannesburg to Charlestown, and learned the racial condescension of the racial slur coolie. A
coolie is a historical term for manual labourers and a racial slur. The term was used in America
towards the Chinese workers that built the railroad during the 19th and early 20th century and
toward the Indians indentured laborers. On the coach, a white passenger did not want a coolie

Why I Want to Know Have you ever wondered how much exercise you need to get maximum

consistently working out in January. I go to the Great Life gym either in Hartford or in Sioux

EBSCO provided me with 27 different articles. I found one that would work perfectly for my

my database to Proquest. I used the keywords weekly, benefits, mental, and exercise. When I
searched the keywords, Proquest provided me with 56 articles. I read through each carefully to
find one that matched my topic. In the article I chose to use, researchers tested a group of students.

Analysis Of Suggestions For The Future Of Social Work
Introduction
Technological advancements can seem overwhelming today. Most everyone would agree that
technological progress can be a good thing, but only when it brings solutions to problems. For
instance, it makes us more productive, or it gives us more information more quickly than in the
past. Unfortunately, there can be unintended consequences of technology that are detrimental to us.
The thing that most concerns me is that we may be losing the concept of the importance of human
relationships. When we bury ourselves in technology and cannot live a day, hour or even a minute
without it, we can easily lose sight of interpersonal connections. Email and texting are convenient,
but we sacrifice other forms of communication like body language, a tone of voice and facial
expressions. An interpersonal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are privileged to be invited into someone s life. We should do everything necessary to protect
boundaries and protect the therapeutic relationship. Secondly, we must be diligent not to exploit the
vulnerable populations we serve. The enduring challenge in social work is to locate and walk what
can be a fine line between valuable innovation that has therapeutic benefits and harmful, possibly
exploitative treatment of vulnerable clients (Reamer, 2013; p. 171).
We are encouraged to be creative in finding new models and methods of meeting the needs of our
clients. We must also be critical thinkers in evaluating our efforts. Good communication is essential
for developing and maintaining positive relationships. We must be diligent to develop therapeutic
working relationships with our clients, and we should listen in order to identify how best to serve
them. Technology can make communication quick and easy, but we must exercise caution. We
must always remember the importance of relationships that human touch and interaction are

Taking a Look at the Human Eye
The human eye is an organ that reacts to light and has several purposes. As a conscious sense
organ, the eye allows vision. Rods and cones in the retina allow light perception and vision
including color differentiation and the conscious perception of depth. The human eye can
distinguish 10 million colors. The eyeis composed of three layers, enclosing three transparent
structures .
The outer layer , called the fibrous tunic is comprised of the cornea and sclera . The middle layer
, called the vascular tunic or uvea is the choroid , ciliary body and the iris. The innermost part of
the eye is the retina , which gets its circulation from the vessels of the choroid and retinal vessels ,
which can be seen in an ophthalmoscope .
The blood vessels can be seen in the sclera , and a strong ring around the iris limbo . Within these
coats are the aqueous humor , vitreous humor and the flexible lens . The aqueous humor is a clear
fluid that is contained in two areas: the anterior chamber between the cornea and the iris and the
posterior chamber between the iris and lens.
The lens is suspended in the ciliary body in the suspensory ligament , composed of transparent
fibers . The vitreous is a clear gel that is larger than the aqueous humor is behind the lens , and the
rest is enclosed by the sclera , zonule , and lens. They are connected by the pupil .
As the eyes of other mammals, the ganglion cells of the human eye is not sensitive image forming

It s a boy!! That s what the doctor said when I was born. I was born in Decatur County Hospital

I was the millennial baby for Decatur County. There were many people who had known the
name Chase Andrew Miner. I was given the name Chase Andrew Miner. My mom had liked the
name Chase and Chance, but she finally decided on Chase. While that decision wasn t too hard
for her to make, (at least she said it wasn t) my last name, Miner, was an even easier decision. My
mom was married to my dad and she took his last name, so the obvious last name would be
Miner. My mom told me she had a really difficult time figuring out a middle name for me. She
couldn t find a name that fit in well. One day my aunt, Lori, called my mom and asked about the
name Andrew. My mom had thought about it and she decided that that name fit. So from that day
I was Chase Andrew Miner. The joke my mom says now is if she knew she d have to chase me so

Core Values Of Civil Rights
From the 1930s to the 1960s, many events, such as World War II, the Cold War, and the Civil
Rights Movement took place. During World War II, Japanese Americans were wrongfully interned,
African Americans were discriminated against in the military and the workforce, and American
citizens were lied to about the Manhattan Project. Within the Cold War, as well as the Post World
War II era, The Un american Activities Committee was formed, women were discriminated against
in the workforce, and African Americans faced racism from those who dealt with the GI Bill of
Rights. From the 1950s to the 1960s, during the Civil Rights Movement, Emmett Till s murderers
and the Ku Klux Klan members who bombed a church were not found guilty, as well as Dr. Martin

Letter To Romans
The doctrine of Justification presents a myriad of problems when taken out of the context of
Scripture. Therefore, in this paper, I will argue for a reformed perspective on Justification by way
of Biblical expostion. Needless to say, there has been countless of capable theologians who have
treated the doctrine of Justification through the past two thousand years. However, it is the apostle
Paul, who, inevitably, treats the doctrine of Justification with precision. Therefore, it seems logical
to appeal to the apostle, in order to fully understand the weight of what it means to be justified and
made righteous before a Holy God. First, we will address what some people call Paul s systematic
theology in his letter to the Romans. The book of Romans is perhaps the most precise exposition
of the human condition and the act of God whereby humanity is redeemed. Next, we will treat the
letter to the Galatians, where the apostle deals with the problem of the Law and the legal standing
of the Believer. Finally, the letter to the Philippians... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul makes it very clear that salvation and the gospel is the whole purpose of his letter to the
Romans. Therefore, it is logical to begin with describing in depth, why it is that we, humans, are
in such a dire need for salvation. The apostle Paul asserts that all humanity is guilty and under
God s wrath, because we have rejected God as God and ceased to obey God s perfect commands.
It is surprising that Paul begins his letter with a positive notion that he was sent to preach the
gospel (good news) of salvation and suddenly reverts to exposing the human condition, and the
negative notion that we are all under God s wrath. Nevertheless, Paul is clearly teaching that only
by fully understanding the bad news can we appreciate the good

In 2004, Lego continued its promotional and product tie ups with Harry Potter and Spiderman.
This move is critical since sales and company profits will have to depend on these partnerships

this dependency can prove detrimental if it s the sole business driver. Too many of these tie ups

Abstract The paper presents an analytic insight into the speed control of a dc Motor drive using a
more stout, prompt and stabilized technique than conventionally used. The desired dynamics are
difficult to achieve with conventional controllers. New techniques are attempted in the literature to
get the desired performance. Here, Sliding Mode Control a robust and non linear control, is
considered. Its understanding is simple and the performance of the whole drive system is found to
be much enhanced as compared to the conventional Proportional Integral Control method. In this
paper, analysis of the dc drive is done when subjected to different circumstances of speed variations
as well as load variations. It is then established that the range of speed under which the drive can
operate without changing the parameters of the controllers, is much wider with the Sliding Mode
Control.
Keywords dc Motor, PI Control, SMC, VSC, Matlab/Simulink Introduction
Dc Motors were once the only devices known to convert electrical energy to mechanical energy or
vice versa. Although they were inherited successfully by ac motors and vector control drives; they
still show promising advantages like reliability, cost effectiveness, and moreover operator
friendliness.

Susan B Anthony Achievements
Susan Brownell Anthony was a fierce and powerful woman who was very determined to fight for
equal rights. Her speeches and enthusiasm captured the attention of many, and this was important
because she influenced the government to finally pass the 19th amendment which gave women
suffrage in 1920. She powered through all the obstacles that were imposed on her. Later, her name
went down in history.
On February 15, 1820 in Adams Massachusetts, Susan B. Anthonywas born into a large Quaker
family consisting of her mother, father, four sisters and two brothers; she was the second oldest of
them all. Most Quakers along with her father, Daniel, believed that girls and women deserved an
education, so Susan and her four sisters accompanied their brothers ... Show more content on

Many of them happened when she made her speeches. She wore bloomers, pants that symbolized
women s rights, to all of them. However, she stopped because nobody would listen to her. She
even made her speeches in the freezing cold, or possibly being pelted with food and snow. But
even though her speeches helped the cause, the male africans getting suffrage in 1866 didn t.
Though it was a good thing, Susan protested that it was unfair for africans to get suffrage but not
women, which made the male abolitionists, whom she was acquainted with, turn on her because
they thought she only was focused on women s rights. After this, she decided she would vote
illegally. In 1872, she went to vote. They let her after she showed them a copy of the fourteenth
amendment, which allowed citizens to vote. Three weeks later, Susan was unfairly arrested and the
amendment was changed from allowing citizens to vote, to allowing male citizens to vote; this
angered her very much. Many years later, Susan started a campaign for women s suffrage. She was
going to win until a liquor company said it would ruin business. To make matters worse, Elizabeth
Cady Stanton passed away in 1902. At her small funeral, she asked for a single picture to be
placed on her casket. A picture of her best partner and friend, Susan B. Anthony, lay there. Clearly,
Susan faced some very rough

Dating back to the introduction of the original Hercules in 1954, Lockheed Martin has
persistently continued to demonstrate perpetual enhancements to the performance of the most
veteran line of aircraft platforms in martial history and the transition from the KC 130F to the
KC 130J was no exception. The enhancements to its avionics systems, engines, and the addition
of the Harvest HAWK weapons kit in 2010 has produced a state of the art platform appropriate
for modern day operations. The KC 130J s improvements in speed, efficiency, and overall
combat readiness were demonstrated in the aircraft s participation in many missions undertaken
by Marine aviation. Its first deployment took place in February 2005 with the Marine Aerial
Transport Squadron 252 to Al Asad, Iraq in continued support of Operation Iraqi Freedom by
conducting aerial refueling and aerial deliveries (Oki, 16). The Harvest HAWK weapons system
was first put to the test by KC 130Js deployed with Marine Aerial Transport Squadron 352 in
2010, ordered to provide support for ground Marines in Sangin, Afghanistan (Flurry, Marine
Corps Teaches Old Plane New Tricks in Afghanistan ). The KC 130J also played an important role

  • 2. Essay on Gran Torino and The Right Stuff Getting old and aging are things that have become difficult points for many and despite the negative representation of the elderly in film, they do serve a purpose. On the big screen we continue to see many underpinnings of ageist assumptions when in fact many of the characters are strong figures that Still have the Right Stuff . Clint Eastwood dispels that myth and several significant scenes epitomize this concept in the movie hit Gran Torino (2008). Gran Torino (2008) exposes and defends against ageist assumptions although many believe the underlying theme is that of racism and bigotry. We see an older man, Walt Kowalski (Eastwood) who has lost his wife and grows throughout the movie because of his relationship with a boy.When... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The physical signs of aging include a decline in flexibility and endurance in the first incident described below. In the second meeting with Sue, his heroism and powerful strength and persona is appreciated. He is no longer seen as a feeble old man. As an initiation, Thao is asked to steal Walt s prized 1972 Ford Gran Torino. He botches the attempt, as Walt, rather stumblingly, chases his out of his garage with his M1 rifle. Later, Thao s sister, Sue (Ahney Her) is set upon by some stereotypically predatory young black man and Walt, brandishing a pistol, rescues her. Another scene in which the character of Walt deals with the prejudices of ageist yet remains in control is when his son and daughter in law gift him a telephone for old people with giant buttons and numbers on it for his birthday. They also present him with a gopher to help him pick up things on the ground more easily and retirement brochures. These gifts would make things easier because he worked hard his whole life. This was the last straw and he throws them out. This reaction shows Walt had the right stuff. He was not feeble or afraid to talk back to his children. As people age, they often accept the emotional abuse but Walt would not. Another concept where we see Walt fighting the concept of ageist is his role to man Thao up a bit. • 3. Capital Punishment and Life Without Parole Essay The first death sentence that has been historically recorded was as far back as 16th century BC. This occurred in Egypt, the wrongdoer was accused of magic and he was then ordered to take his own life. In present day the death penalty has changed drastically. The death penalty has undergone many changes since then. In medieval times the methods used to kill people were inhumane and often times cruel. In modern times the methods to kill people are much more humane. The death penalty has been used less and less often and even outlawed in some states. The death penalty should be used more often and for more crimes. If the death penalty was used more often there would be a deterrence for future crimes, it is more cost effective, and it would... Since 1995 there has been an increase in the amount of people incarcerated in prison. With this increase in prison population there is also an increase in the amount of money it costs to run prisons. The cost difference in an entire trial and prosecution of a death sentence and the entire trials and prosecution and life in prison of a LWOP sentence is immense. Dudley Sharp says in Death Penalty and Sentencing Information Justice for all estimates that LWOP cases will cost $1.2 million $3.6 million more than equivalent death penalty cases (Sharp). Additionally, we would live in an all around safer country. The people of the country would feel safer as well as be safer. People would be safer in every way possible. The lack of violent crimes would create a physical safety. Without murderers, rapists, assailants, and other such brutal people there would be less need for self defense, such as guns or other weapons. With less white collar crime people would be safer when it comes things such as having identities stolen or companies being embezzled. This would give people better financial security and less chance of having their life ruined by someone stealing their identity. It would give the economy a great boost as well. • 4. Mandatory Continuing Professional Development ( Cpd ) For... Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for professional engineers in Ontario has been an issue subject to controversy over the years. The controversy surrounding the issue is due in part to the complications of introducing such a program, and the fact that Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is the only professional engineeringassociation in Canada that does not have a CPD program [1]. The debate regarding CPD for professional engineers in Ontario is pertinent because the resolution has been ongoing since September of 2013, and is up for approval in the upcoming February 2016 PEO council meeting [2]. Therefore, it is important that the CPD debate is resolved and a consensus is reached. Mandatory CPD is a concept to which professionals are required and encouraged to maintain and enhance their knowledge throughout their careers to provide a standard of competence to those practicing [3]. The goal of CPD is to be proactive in regulating the profession...rather than (reactively)...punishing license holders for practice failures [1]. Introducing a CPD program will ensure public safety, contribute to a reduction in risk for the public and individual practitioner , and push the profession to higher levels of skills and knowledge [1]. As a result, the professional engineers of Ontario should engage in mandatory CPD to ensure the continued competency of those practicing and the safety of the public. The proactive nature of a CPD program may prevent failures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basically, the marketing of product is particularly focused on 4P s in marketing mix namely product, price, place, and promotion (Ehmke Fulton Lusk, n.d.). The marketer needs to analyze the major demand of customers in a specific market in order to find out a product that can respond the market demand. Firstly, it is necessary for marketers to focus on the strength as well as eliminate the vulnerabilities of marketed products in order to improve products to meet customer s demand as much as possible. I think product and services marketing are significantly different because of characteristic of itself. The first characteristic of services marketing is intangibility; it cannot be seen, touched or felt prior consumption. On the other hands, product marketing is tangible, the customer is able to touch, feel, taste or smell the product either before or after purchasing. For example, when customers walk through a restaurant, they might get the food smell from the restaurant but they cannot know how well of service if they do not buy the menu. Secondly, products can be stored in order to sell to the customer in the next time whereas services marketing mostly are unable to be inventoried, they are perishable. Hence, the value of service always exists at the point when it is required. Therefore, it seems to be very difficult to match supply with demand in service marketing. Thirdly, the other difference of product and services marketing is the level of relationship between the client and provider. Undoubtedly, there is much more personal contact required in services marketing than product marketing. In case of product marketing, customers and sellers may face each other just once time when they are dealing products and they might have no chance to see each other again. However, in services marketing, consumers and service providers may have to see each other frequently throughout until the contract is ended or until the last thing that consumers ... Studies have shown that this parenting style is most prevalent amongst the millennial generation, with approximately 60 70% of college students reporting that their parents exhibit at least some of the hovering tendencies (Odenweller, Booth Butterfield Weber, 2014). This Policy Brief presents current and relevant research findings surrounding Helicopter parenting or over parenting and the implications that this parenting style may have on both the child and the parents. • 10. Ancient Egyptian Royalty And The Pantheon Of Gods Essay When asked to describe Ancient Egypt, many will speak of towering pyramids, glittering sarcophaguses, and fist sized scarab pendants. However, the image of Ancient Egypt that most have learned has one glaring flaw: it inordinately focuses on the lives of the social elite. The descriptions given seldom mention the stories of merchants, artisans, or slaves; they are solely focused on exploring the lives of the Egyptian royalty and the pantheon of gods that they worshipped. The social disparity in the study of Ancient Egyptis not the fault of professors, textbooks, or the field of education in general; rather, it is indicative of the deep social divides which were omnipresent in Egyptian society from its initiation. In Western Civilizations: Volume One, the authors confirm the rigid socioeconomic class system of this era: The social pyramid of Old Kingdom Egypt was extremely steep. At its apex stood the Pharaoh and his extended family, whose prestige and power set them entirely apart from all other Egyptians. This strict social structure pursued the Egyptian consciousness, even in death. The Book of the Dead, a collection of spells and incantations to aid a deceased person through the afterlife, contains ample evidence that social classfollowed Egyptian citizens past their mortal existence. • 12. The Worst of Economic Times in the Great Recession The Great Recession is possibly the worst economic times since the Great Depression after World War Two. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were two financial institutions that played a major role in the uprising of housing prices. Bundling home loans with different ratings together helped to get a good deal. There was money to be made with investors. When greed took over and good ratings were given to people for loans that they could never pay them back, there then was a shift in direction. The housing market started to fall. Houses were too expensive, and people could not afford it. Foreclosures were happening all over the country, which lowered the worth of the houses in neighborhoods that were paid up to date where families still lived. The Federal Government had to step in because the housing bubble busted, and then financial institutions and banks went bankrupt. Credit scores have a huge impact when it comes to loans, mortgages, and anything else that requires a credit check. The higher the credit score means the better chance the loan will get paid back. The lower the credit score the less of a chance that someone will get a loan because they are more at a risk of not paying it back and defaulting on the loan. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac recommended the FICO score for use in mortgage lending in 1995. That would have helped people get a mortgage that may not have before. This abstract border separates people from one another without any real embodiment of the border itself. This particular border does not necessarily have concrete matter, which separates people like fences, gates, towers, and walls. Moreover, it does not have to be policed. Ergo, such border exists without any limitation of space and time. This abstract border does create the same effect as the concrete border, separating and labeling people, as them and us. Nonetheless, the abstract border affects people beyond labelling and separation. As the Xuncax siblings in El Norte succeeded in crossing the concrete U.S. Mexico border, they had to face the abstract border, the language border. According to SCRB, 80 per cent of the existing roads in Iraq are in bad condition and require immediate attention. The roads serving the East West Corridors, leading to its western borders (Abu Kamal, Al Tanf and Al Karama) suffered significant damage during the last decade due to war and maintenance delays. • 24. The Blockbuster Model In order to grasp a substantial and comprehensive understanding of the audiovisual spectacle of film, one must understand what genre is and the different ways in which genre operates. During our class discussions we learned that genre acts as a living organism. Thomas Schatz argues that genre like virtually any story, can be examined in terms of fundamental narrative components: plot, setting, and character (Schatz 21). Beyond these fundamental narrative components, Schatz states that genrefilmincorporates a specific cultural context where thematic conflicts are animated, intensified, and resolved by familiar characteristics (Schatz 21). We can recognize and distinguish particular genres through the analysis of the evolution of genre.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Given that genres are considered a form of living organisms with a life cycle, we can argue that they carry the ability to evolve and grow into other previously unknown sub genres. Filmmakers are able to explore the possibilities within a certain genre and possibly create a subgenre that has never been explored prior. For instance, comedy is a well known genre in film and audiences have seen it develop into several other sub genres. An individual film has the ability to apply the traditional characteristics of a comedy film and combine it with other characteristics, which then transform it into a sub genre. One example of this is the military comedy sub genre. While many people may consider the topic of war to be grim or dark, filmmakers have created a sub genre that incorporates comedic tropes in order to ease the anxieties the audience has towards war. One could describe the characteristics of a military comedy as a film that incorporates the characteristics of a traditional comedy while adding widely shared attitudes towards war, such as being drafted and feeling afraid or out of place. Understanding genre is critical to understanding how cinema works. Studying the network of genres can help us easily identify and analyze films in a much greater detail. This ability to identify and analyze speaks to the larger understanding of cinema itself. Cinema is constantly reaching new milestones. A comprehensive understanding ... Gandhi spent over 20 years in South Africa working to fight discrimination. It was in South Africa that he developed his concept of Satyagraha, a non violent way of protesting against discrimination. The first time Gandhi used Satyagraha was in South Africabeginning in 1907 when he organized opposition to the Black Act. In 1907, the Black Act was passed, requiring all Indians to keep registration documents on them at all times. Gandhi s first hand experiences in dealing with discrimination began in South Africa. It would be cowardice to run back to India without fulfilling my obligation. The hardship to which I was subjected was superficial only a symptom of the deep disease of colour prejudice. I should try, if possible, to root out the disease and suffer hardships in the process. A coolie is a historical term for manual labourers and a racial slur. The term was used in America towards the Chinese workers that built the railroad during the 19th and early 20th century and toward the Indians indentured laborers. For instance, it makes us more productive, or it gives us more information more quickly than in the past. Unfortunately, there can be unintended consequences of technology that are detrimental to us. The thing that most concerns me is that we may be losing the concept of the importance of human relationships. Rods and cones in the retina allow light perception and vision including color differentiation and the conscious perception of depth. The human eye can distinguish 10 million colors. The eyeis composed of three layers, enclosing three transparent structures . The outer layer , called the fibrous tunic is comprised of the cornea and sclera . The middle layer , called the vascular tunic or uvea is the choroid , ciliary body and the iris. Therefore, in this paper, I will argue for a reformed perspective on Justification by way of Biblical expostion. Needless to say, there has been countless of capable theologians who have treated the doctrine of Justification through the past two thousand years. However, it is the apostle Paul, who, inevitably, treats the doctrine of Justification with precision. Therefore, it seems logical to appeal to the apostle, in order to fully understand the weight of what it means to be justified and made righteous before a Holy God. First, we will address what some people call Paul s systematic theology in his letter to the Romans. The book of Romans is perhaps the most precise exposition of the human condition and the act of God whereby humanity is redeemed. The desired dynamics are difficult to achieve with conventional controllers. New techniques are attempted in the literature to get the desired performance. Here, Sliding Mode Control a robust and non linear control, is considered. Its understanding is simple and the performance of the whole drive system is found to be much enhanced as compared to the conventional Proportional Integral Control method. In this paper, analysis of the dc drive is done when subjected to different circumstances of speed variations as well as load variations. It is then established that the range of speed under which the drive can operate without changing the parameters of the controllers, is much wider with the Sliding Mode Control.
