2. Screen Components of Tally
On loading Tally, the Gateway of Tally screen will appear. This screen
contains seven major areas.
Title Bar or Product Info.
Horizontal Button.
Current status
Tally Menu
Vertical Button Bar
Tally Calculator
Current Status Bar

3. I. Title Bar or Product Info
This displays the details relating to the name of the software, the version
number, copyright notice, web link, Tally logo, user version, user serial number.
II. Horizontal Button Bar:
It contains two sets of buttons with hotkey for :
•Report Management :
Print : To print a report
Export : To export reports in specified format,
E-mail : To email a report
Upload :To upload a report on a website.
•Indic Language
Language : To set up default language for display
Keyboard : To set up default language for data input.
III. Current Status
At the left part of Gateway, Current status will give the following
information
Current Period :
It shows the current period selected through F2: Period button.
Current Date :
It shows the current date set through F2 : Date button
Active Company :
It shows the status of last selected company.
Selected Company :
It shows the status of all the companies selected.

4. IV. Tally Menu
At right part of the Gateway screen, the Gateway of Tally Menu appears showing the
list of Menu options. Select a Menu item to invoke a task.
V. Vertical Button Bar
At rightmost part of the Gateway, the Button Bar shows several buttons with
Function key / Hot key, to provide quick and direct access to various options & tasks.
VI. Tally Calculator / Command Line
While working with Tally, press Ctrl + N to activate Calculator / Command Line
area to invoke the Calculator to make an arithmetical calculation and also paste the result in any
numerical input field.
VII. Current Status Bar
At the bottom, the user gets the Current Status Bar showing the following details
about the current screen being displayed
Current Screen Path : It shows the complete path of the current screen.
Current Software : Shows the Version, Release and the selected language .
Current System Date : Shows the Current system day and date.
Current System Time : Shows the current system time.
